- 0:00Speaker 1: And Football for is powered by the Inside of the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Birds podcast. It is brought to you by the Fanatics
- 0:05Speaker 1: sportsbook at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. Jeff Brocher
- 0:09Speaker 1: from the Inside of the Birds podcast is here, and
- 0:12Speaker 1: of course you can check out all his stuff over
- 0:14Speaker 1: at Phillyvoice dot com. He's got an interesting story that
- 0:17Speaker 1: he breaks down today over at Philly Voice. You could
- 0:20Speaker 1: check that out at Phillyvoice dot com. What are the
- 0:24Speaker 1: biggest changes we can expect to the Eagles offense? Well,
- 0:28Speaker 1: I think everybody wants to know this. Man, Jeff Mosher
- 0:32Speaker 1: broke it all down and he joins us now for
- 0:34Speaker 1: today's edition of Football at four All the Sports bats
- 0:37Speaker 1: live on ninety seven three ESPN. Most all right, they
- 0:40Speaker 1: got a new offensive coordinator from a different scheme and
- 0:44Speaker 1: a different style. Does that do you anticipate the offense
- 0:48Speaker 1: looks different? What did you see in your breakdown that
- 0:51Speaker 1: Eagles fans can anticipate what the offense may look like
- 0:54Speaker 1: this year?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:56Speaker 3: Big, the same variation of the Eagles offense with just
- 0:58Speaker 3: four new coaches, new play caller, a new Well you've
- 1:02Speaker 3: heard us.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Before, No, I know, I know, I know.
- 1:05Speaker 3: This time, I think it's not just the new offensive coordinator, right,
- 1:09Speaker 3: You're bringing in a couple of other new coaches from
- 1:12Speaker 3: the same other alternative background, which is the West Coast
- 1:17Speaker 3: modernized West Coast offense to help out.
- 1:19Speaker 4: So it's a pretty clear indication.
- 1:21Speaker 3: And we did a podcast on this Inside the Birds
- 1:25Speaker 3: with Sam Finkel, who is our analytics expert, who this
- 1:28Speaker 3: was about a week ago, and I wanted to do
- 1:30Speaker 3: a continue it with Philly Voice AND's story form just
- 1:34Speaker 3: as of that kind of offense which is under center,
- 1:38Speaker 3: play action and motion and show what these other teams
- 1:43Speaker 3: that the Eagles are getting coaches from, how much of
- 1:45Speaker 3: it they used compared to how much of it or
- 1:48Speaker 3: how little of it the Eagles were using in their offense.
- 1:52Speaker 3: And you know, the numbers really spell it out each
- 1:55Speaker 3: one that it's a dramatic difference.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Well, I guess, and we talked about this yesterday on
- 2:01Speaker 1: the show, and I want to get your opinion on this.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Okay, they changed this offense.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It might be more McVeigh, the lafloor O'Connell McDaniel. This
- 2:09Speaker 1: is an offense that is very foreign to what the
- 2:11Speaker 1: Eagles have done. Do they have the personnel to run
- 2:15Speaker 1: that offense? In other words, even down to the offensive line,
- 2:17Speaker 1: there's blocking schemes. You know, you target different style of
- 2:21Speaker 1: offensive linemen if you want to run our West Coast
- 2:24Speaker 1: offense compared to I don't know what the Eagles have
- 2:26Speaker 1: been running. Whose style of offense is that?
- 2:29Speaker 2: You know?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Siriani sort of has a lot of different influences. I mean,
- 2:33Speaker 3: he credits Todd Haley when he was with Kansas City
- 2:36Speaker 3: as being a big offensive influence, and Haley was more
- 2:38Speaker 3: of the.
- 2:41Speaker 4: What do you call it, the earn Hart offense Perkins offense.
- 2:44Speaker 3: From the old days, which is more of an aerial
- 2:47Speaker 3: attack than say a timing and rhythm offense.
- 2:50Speaker 4: But nonetheless, I don't think I don't know if there
- 2:53Speaker 4: is like personnel that you have to have. I mean,
- 2:58Speaker 4: I think it helps.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I think, like the reason why there are certain players
- 3:02Speaker 3: you look at and you say their talents are exploited
- 3:06Speaker 3: in certain offenses.
- 3:07Speaker 4: That might not be in others.
- 3:09Speaker 3: For example, I think Pukiniku is a great wide receiver,
- 3:12Speaker 3: would be pretty darn good no matter what offense you
- 3:15Speaker 3: put him in.
- 3:16Speaker 4: But I don't know that he's.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Like almost two thousand yards good in like the Cowboys
- 3:21Speaker 3: offense as opposed to the offense that the Rams run,
- 3:25Speaker 3: where he's reduced with his splits.
- 3:27Speaker 4: He's constantly in motion, he gets the.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Offense is funneled through the middle of the field, where
- 3:33Speaker 3: he really excels and catches a.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Lot of balls.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And then you know, a guy like Brock Purdy and
- 3:37Speaker 3: Shanahan's offense. Do you think Brock Purty would be a
- 3:40Speaker 3: great quarterback if he was running a I don't know,
- 3:43Speaker 3: like Josh McDaniels offense. I don't know, you know, I
- 3:46Speaker 3: think that the timing and the rhythm that Purty does
- 3:50Speaker 3: well blends well with Shanahan's schemes. And you know, if
- 3:54Speaker 3: you had two receivers who were deep ball artists, I
- 3:59Speaker 3: guess like kind of like the way if you were.
- 4:01Speaker 3: If you were put Brock Purty in the Eagles offense,
- 4:04Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 4:05Speaker 4: That that would be really good.
- 4:06Speaker 3: He doesn't drive the ball outside the numbers down the field,
- 4:09Speaker 3: where both Smith and aj Brown really excel so so well.
- 4:14Speaker 4: I do think that.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Anybody can fit an offense as long as ab can
- 4:19Speaker 3: take the coaching. There are certain players, but I think
- 4:21Speaker 3: that the Eagles have versatile and good enough players that
- 4:25Speaker 3: should be able to fit any scheme, but to answer,
- 4:28Speaker 3: to really answer your question, like Saquon Barkley is not
- 4:33Speaker 3: someone you think of as a fantastic outside zone runner.
- 4:36Speaker 3: You don't want him going east and west a lot,
- 4:39Speaker 3: because he's really good.
- 4:41Speaker 4: In between the tackles.
- 4:43Speaker 3: His vision isn't always his greate as strength as opposed
- 4:45Speaker 3: to that second level burst. But that doesn't mean that
- 4:49Speaker 3: Sean Mannion can't cater his run game to what Saquon
- 4:53Speaker 3: does best.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Sean McVeigh did that.
- 4:55Speaker 3: He went from outside zone constantly with Todd Gurley to
- 4:59Speaker 3: way more of an in tide zone duo between tackles
- 5:01Speaker 3: roll with Kyrin Williams. So good coaches they bring to
- 5:05Speaker 3: their philosophies, but they also we are just their personnel.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean obviously you know you're trying to do
- 5:10Speaker 1: and maximize. The question is like, you know they've been
- 5:13Speaker 1: doing this offense here to try to maximize Jalen Hurts, right,
- 5:18Speaker 1: That doesn't necessarily mean it has maximized.
- 5:20Speaker 2: AJ Brown and Devonte Smith.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Correct, correct, And I think A J. Brown would agree
- 5:27Speaker 4: with you on that that he feels. You know, he
- 5:29Speaker 4: has that famous quote used me.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Don't but don't use me where he caught a touchdown
- 5:33Speaker 3: in this game. He in the box score, it looked
- 5:36Speaker 3: like he did well, but he was clearly disappointed still
- 5:39Speaker 3: in the fact that it's it was the same old
- 5:43Speaker 3: offense really, and he wanted you could tell like he
- 5:46Speaker 3: wanted to be He wanted the offense to evolve and
- 5:48Speaker 3: him to his role, to be able to evolve with it.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So yesterday, you know, we were breaking down a lot
- 5:53Speaker 1: of what Aj Brown said to Michael Barson's which was,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you know, sometimes shame is a good thing. Then he
- 6:01Speaker 1: went out to give praise to Kevin Bittullo and then
- 6:06Speaker 1: finished up with so I'm excited for the season. You
- 6:08Speaker 1: can interpret this a lot of ways. As he cooled off,
- 6:10Speaker 1: does he feel good about the situation? You know, I
- 6:13Speaker 1: look at it as change is a good thing. We
- 6:15Speaker 1: got Sean Manion. I'm happy about that. I don't not
- 6:19Speaker 1: like Kevin. He did as well as he could under
- 6:21Speaker 1: the restraints that you have in that offense. He's out
- 6:26Speaker 1: and now I'm excited. Do we look at aj and
- 6:29Speaker 1: say he's now happy and is excited to be here,
- 6:32Speaker 1: or do we think this is still going to materialize.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I wouldn't read too much into it. You know, at
- 6:38Speaker 3: the end of the day, change is a good thing.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But you know, aj brand Brown, like all of us,
- 6:43Speaker 3: couldn't tell you a single thing about Sean Manion's competence
- 6:47Speaker 3: as a play caller or a play designer because he's
- 6:50Speaker 3: never done it. You know, I might interpret his comments
- 6:54Speaker 3: differently if say, Mike McDaniel and Brian Dable was the
- 6:58Speaker 3: offensive coordinator or someone was experience. I mean, I couldn't
- 7:02Speaker 3: look into it and say, yes, maybe he does welcome
- 7:04Speaker 3: at least the philosophical change in what it might bring.
- 7:07Speaker 3: But I can't be sitting here and be convinced he
- 7:10Speaker 3: definitely wants to be a part of the Eagles going
- 7:12Speaker 3: forward because he said change is a good thing.
- 7:14Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, I listened.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He obviously didn't want to talk to media down there,
- 7:18Speaker 1: but he was okay, kind of getting his thoughts out
- 7:20Speaker 1: to Michael Parsons. And I don't know was he trying
- 7:24Speaker 1: to portray to the NFL world that hey, I'm cool,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I'd be a good fit for you, or is he
- 7:29Speaker 1: trying to portray to the Eagles that he's cool with
- 7:32Speaker 1: what they did.
- 7:34Speaker 3: So I actually watched the whole podcast, I'm not sure
- 7:37Speaker 3: if if you saw it all.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I did not know.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I have seen obviously clips, but not the whole thing
- 7:42Speaker 1: in its long form.
- 7:44Speaker 3: His general demeanor throughout the show was to not really
- 7:48Speaker 3: be the focal point of it. In fact, he got
- 7:52Speaker 3: a great quote from Michael Parsons talking about the you know,
- 7:54Speaker 3: the trade that could have been to Philadelphia because he
- 7:58Speaker 3: was sort of being the question asker instead of the
- 8:01Speaker 3: interview or interview he I should say.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So.
- 8:05Speaker 4: He I just look at what he said as like,
- 8:09Speaker 4: how can I get through this show?
- 8:10Speaker 3: You know, not say anything that's gonna be completely taken
- 8:13Speaker 3: out of context.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Or making a headline out of it, and.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Really defer to a conversation with mikeh and Bryce Young.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Bryce Young was actually very funny in the show and
- 8:26Speaker 3: pretty introspective as well.
- 8:27Speaker 4: But my point was.
- 8:28Speaker 3: He wasn't really looking to go deep into his answers there,
- 8:31Speaker 3: so don't read too much into what he was saying.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And it started off like, you know, Mike asked him
- 8:37Speaker 3: about something and he just kind of like put his
- 8:39Speaker 3: hands in the air like, ah, you know, this is what.
- 8:41Speaker 4: It is, and you know, he didn't really like expand
- 8:43Speaker 4: on it.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So I want to get your take and this is
- 8:47Speaker 1: obviously just an opinion from you. If Aj walked or traded,
- 8:52Speaker 1: obviously he can't walk, he would have to be traded.
- 8:55Speaker 4: M H.
- 8:56Speaker 2: What is DeVante Smith?
- 9:01Speaker 4: He's a really good receiver. I mean, I don't I
- 9:02Speaker 4: don't think that his role changes a whole lot.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I think, Okay, he's a really good receiver. His role
- 9:08Speaker 1: hasn't change. But is their meat on the bone there?
- 9:11Speaker 1: Like do they not get as much as they could
- 9:13Speaker 1: from him? Could he be a number one guy? Like
- 9:15Speaker 1: I look at Jackson Smith and Jigma and look at
- 9:17Speaker 1: the guy and say, you don't have a lot of help.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I mean there's not like you're like, wow, look at
- 9:21Speaker 1: their receiving corps, live at all these weapons. No, it's him.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Could Devonte Smith be the main guy if in fact
- 9:29Speaker 1: they let Aj Brown go?
- 9:32Speaker 4: I mean I think so.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I mean, I think the point of having one of
- 9:35Speaker 3: these modernized West Coast offenses is that you're gonna scheme
- 9:39Speaker 3: guys open. Theoretically that's the point anyway, And you don't
- 9:43Speaker 3: always have the like you know, the Niners played the.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Entire season without Brandon Ayuk.
- 9:48Speaker 3: They really didn't have their their X receiver, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 3: and they still won twelve games. You're not gonna put
- 9:55Speaker 3: Davonte Smith in AJ's spot and call him the X receiver.
- 10:00Speaker 3: He's still gonna be a movable piece. He's still going
- 10:02Speaker 3: to be someone you want in trips and bunch formations.
- 10:05Speaker 3: You still want to be able to, you know, scheme
- 10:07Speaker 3: him so that he's not getting pressed to the line
- 10:10Speaker 3: of scrimmage.
- 10:11Speaker 4: And you may look to bring in someone who's.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Not as good but at least can play the exposition
- 10:16Speaker 3: just to be able to run certain routes from that spot,
- 10:18Speaker 3: whether you're one by.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Three or even two by two.
- 10:22Speaker 3: But I don't think it really changes who he is
- 10:24Speaker 3: as a receiver, or how often he's targeted or how
- 10:26Speaker 3: much he's used well.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And I only asked that because maybe the Eagles look
- 10:30Speaker 1: at it and see like, hey, we have so much
- 10:32Speaker 1: money invested in these wide receivers. We're not getting the
- 10:35Speaker 1: ROI on these receivers. Look at Seattle, they're not paying
- 10:39Speaker 1: any receivers. I know they're gonna have to pay Jackson
- 10:41Speaker 1: Smith and Jigba, But can we design an offense similar
- 10:45Speaker 1: to what they do where we have one receiver that's
- 10:48Speaker 1: really really good and then we have guys who just
- 10:49Speaker 1: have roles.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's that would be interesting. You know.
- 10:54Speaker 3: It's really impressed with the job Klint Kubiak did all
- 10:56Speaker 3: year with basically one outstanding player and then role players who's.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Kind of like the home run hitter. Right, it's like, hey,
- 11:04Speaker 2: we got you.
- 11:04Speaker 1: You're the guy who breaks over the top, Bobo, you're
- 11:07Speaker 1: the tight end that kind of works to the middle
- 11:09Speaker 1: of the field. Like you know, they all just kind
- 11:11Speaker 1: of did what they did well and that's it.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Right, And a lot of that is due to how
- 11:17Speaker 4: they run their offense.
- 11:18Speaker 3: They're a downhill under center, workoff play action offense where
- 11:22Speaker 3: the quarterback proved he could operate in that offense the
- 11:25Speaker 3: year before in Minnesota. And then obviously JSN isn't just
- 11:29Speaker 3: a good receiver, he's an elite one and that helped
- 11:32Speaker 3: me and even the Packers, Mike, you know, they have
- 11:35Speaker 3: good receivers, but excuse me, not a guy that you
- 11:39Speaker 3: would put top five in the NFL.
- 11:42Speaker 1: So that's yeah, you're struggling there a little bit. So
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'll interject for you for a second here. But we
- 11:47Speaker 1: talked to Romeo Dobbs at the Super Bowl, and you know,
- 11:50Speaker 1: one of the things he told us was expect these
- 11:52Speaker 1: receivers to see the.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Ball a lot more.
- 11:55Speaker 1: One of the things that's unique about Green Bay is
- 11:57Speaker 1: they don't really have a number one guy, but they
- 11:59Speaker 1: have a bud of guys who could be number one
- 12:01Speaker 1: that day.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Yes, that is true, they do. They have a lot
- 12:05Speaker 4: of good guys, not an elite guy.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Although I will say I think Christian Watson like the
- 12:10Speaker 3: even though he came back from an injury, the like
- 12:12Speaker 3: sort of felt like it came on for him because
- 12:14Speaker 3: he played really really well this year for the Packers
- 12:17Speaker 3: when he came back. But still not like a Justin
- 12:20Speaker 3: Jefferson or even an AJ Brown, but pretty close, pretty good.
- 12:24Speaker 3: But yeah, there should be more usage of the receivers.
- 12:27Speaker 3: And again it's about scheming them open. It's about creating
- 12:31Speaker 3: easy lanes, well defined throws all over the middle of
- 12:35Speaker 3: the field and everywhere for Jalen Hurts. And you know,
- 12:39Speaker 3: I think it would benefit the Eagles to to a
- 12:42Speaker 3: get a slot receiver, like a natural slot who can
- 12:45Speaker 3: work the middle of the field.
- 12:46Speaker 4: And b if you look at Matt Lafleur, he does
- 12:48Speaker 4: things differently too. He'll he's in shotgun a little bit
- 12:51Speaker 4: more than say Stafford with the Rams. You know, they
- 12:54Speaker 4: they do run the RPO game.
- 12:56Speaker 3: They've they've adapted the quote unquote mcphaigh offense to what
- 13:00Speaker 3: modern offenses also do from a shotgun standpoint, because that's
- 13:05Speaker 3: that they've adapted it to fit Jordan Love.
- 13:09Speaker 1: What is your take, Jeff, I know you guys over
- 13:11Speaker 1: Inside the Birds and one of your latest podcasts, you
- 13:14Speaker 1: kind of have a to do list for the off season.
- 13:17Speaker 1: How do you view the tight end situation with Goddard
- 13:21Speaker 1: being a free agent. I don't know that they entered
- 13:23Speaker 1: the season wanting to have to pay him bring him back,
- 13:26Speaker 1: But I don't know. I'm looking around that roster. I
- 13:28Speaker 1: don't see anybody else what happens with that part of
- 13:31Speaker 1: the to do list.
- 13:32Speaker 3: And I think, no matter what, you have to invest
- 13:34Speaker 3: in young upcoming tight end. You know, I wouldn't slam
- 13:37Speaker 3: the door on Dallas Goddter coming back off to see
- 13:40Speaker 3: how that goes.
- 13:41Speaker 4: I think he would fit. I have a lot to
- 13:44Speaker 4: see what the market is for him.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure everybody will see the eleven touchdowns
- 13:48Speaker 3: and be excited about it, but if they go to
- 13:51Speaker 3: the tape, they'll see that like six or seven were
- 13:53Speaker 3: good red zone scheme touchdowns where it was barely touched.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Also not to take away from him, but no matter what, you've.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Got to have a guy in the works. You know
- 14:03Speaker 4: they went.
- 14:04Speaker 3: They had zach Ertz before Brent Sellick retired. I remember
- 14:08Speaker 3: both of them were on the first Super Bowl team.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Then they had Goddard right when zach Ertz was at
- 14:15Speaker 3: the end and traded him. And they didn't really do
- 14:17Speaker 3: a good job of getting somebody to take over for
- 14:20Speaker 3: godd or before Goddard was done being an Eagle unless
- 14:23Speaker 3: he's back.
- 14:24Speaker 4: So now you got to get guys.
- 14:26Speaker 3: And preferably guys who can play the wide position, meaning
- 14:29Speaker 3: they can block and catch.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you what, that's going to be a
- 14:33Speaker 1: fascinating one because he's the only free agent on offense
- 14:37Speaker 1: and this is an offensive struggle that got the guy fired.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But you're thinking yourself, we got to bring the whole
- 14:43Speaker 1: offense back. It almost feels like this is an interesting
- 14:48Speaker 1: So I was talking about this this morning.
- 14:51Speaker 2: What is the mandate in the building?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Is it we fired Patullo, we hired Manion and the
- 14:59Speaker 1: anticipation and that takes us from an eleven win division
- 15:03Speaker 1: winning wildcard team to a super Bowl team, or it's
- 15:07Speaker 1: a whole new system. We're going to be evaluating everybody
- 15:10Speaker 1: in the system to see who stays and who goes,
- 15:14Speaker 1: And they justify taking a step back.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I think Howie Roseman needs to be taken
- 15:18Speaker 3: as word he said that we are an urgency.
- 15:21Speaker 4: We are in an urgent mode to win now.
- 15:23Speaker 3: They've got a lot of money invested in a lot
- 15:25Speaker 3: of players, good players. They've reached the playoffs five straight times,
- 15:29Speaker 3: have've been in two Super Bowls one to one. We've
- 15:32Speaker 3: still won eleven games even in a bad year. You
- 15:35Speaker 3: can you can squint and see how fifteen to twenty
- 15:38Speaker 3: percent better offensive output could have got him into the
- 15:41Speaker 3: super Bowl again this year. And while they do have
- 15:44Speaker 3: to make changes, they've done that before. That doesn't really
- 15:46Speaker 3: change the expectations. So to answer your question, the mandate
- 15:50Speaker 3: in the building is to get that old, archaic, do
- 15:54Speaker 3: nothing offensive game scheme out and usher in the new
- 15:59Speaker 3: and get it going and get it going quickly.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Right, because you know, I would anticipate as long as
- 16:03Speaker 1: everybody comes back, you are not going to see a
- 16:07Speaker 1: lot of change on this offense. It's like, hey, you
- 16:09Speaker 1: guys are going to get to run it back, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: in a completely new system. That is that the feeling
- 16:14Speaker 1: you're getting.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Well, I mean, you know you might have a change
- 16:17Speaker 3: or two on the offensive line, and of course you
- 16:19Speaker 3: know we already talked about tight end and wide receiver,
- 16:22Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, I do think that there'll be
- 16:24Speaker 3: there'll be some changes on offense. But if you're talking
- 16:26Speaker 3: about the pillars of the success like Davonte Smith and
- 16:30Speaker 3: Lane Johnson, like those guys.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I do think one of the areas where this team,
- 16:34Speaker 1: if you're going to go to like a you know,
- 16:36Speaker 1: more of a McVeigh style of offense, you've got to
- 16:39Speaker 1: try to find that third wide receiver.
- 16:41Speaker 2: That guy has to be a part of the offense.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I agree, you know, and it would help if that
- 16:46Speaker 3: guy is a little bit proven, like I know that
- 16:48Speaker 3: there were some real nice flashes from Darius Cooper last
- 16:52Speaker 3: year in a limited role. Great training camp, and Johnny
- 16:55Speaker 3: Wilson should come back, and you know, I do wonder
- 16:58Speaker 3: a guy like that who's six foot six and if
- 17:00Speaker 3: you can get him in some space or you know,
- 17:03Speaker 3: oriented offense, could he do some things after the catch?
- 17:06Speaker 4: Could he uses you could be a good red zone target?
- 17:09Speaker 4: But the bottom line is yeah, I.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Mean, especially if you're not bringing aj Brown back for
- 17:13Speaker 3: whatever reason you need, like likea Dobbs who is a
- 17:17Speaker 3: fre free agent, I.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Believe you need.
- 17:18Speaker 3: It would really helpe to have a guy who's played
- 17:21Speaker 3: in that system, has proven to perform in that system,
- 17:24Speaker 3: and can come in and make an impact right away.
- 17:26Speaker 2: All right?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Jeff Bosher from the Inside the Birds podcasts A very
- 17:29Speaker 1: interesting off season ahead NFL free agency, the legal tampering.
- 17:34Speaker 1: March then ninth, we are less than one month away
- 17:37Speaker 1: from when players can start changing teams. Jeff Boscher, I'll
- 17:40Speaker 1: ask you which free agent is the most interesting story
- 17:43Speaker 1: to you?
- 17:43Speaker 2: Is it Goddard?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Is it Jalen Phillips, Is it Nacobe Dean? Does it
- 17:46Speaker 1: read blanket ship or somebody else?
- 17:50Speaker 4: Man? March ninth, that's the day Biggie died.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Just hit me ros how about that? That's good memory
- 17:54Speaker 2: by it?
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, I would say the Nakobe Dean free agencies
- 18:00Speaker 3: going to be even though it feels like a four
- 18:02Speaker 3: actually all mend that.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I think Jalen Phillips, that one's going to be very
- 18:06Speaker 4: very interesting to me.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I do I agree with the Phillips because I'll break
- 18:10Speaker 1: it down this way. They brought Phillips in, so they
- 18:13Speaker 1: obviously felt they needed a top, higher.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Tier pass rusher.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Last year, a lot of speculation of Miles Garrett and
- 18:22Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson, and.
- 18:25Speaker 2: They never went down that road. They stuck with what
- 18:27Speaker 2: they had.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But then they made the trade for Phillips, Diddy it
- 18:30Speaker 1: was enough to bring him back?
- 18:32Speaker 2: Or do they now go bigger this time around? Well?
- 18:35Speaker 4: What are the ramifications of not bringing him back?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Because you know, then basically you've got Jallex Hunt, who
- 18:41Speaker 3: I think could take another step.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I mean, he can be your best edge rusher.
- 18:45Speaker 3: But if you didn't bring back Jalen Phillips, you've got
- 18:48Speaker 3: Jelex Hunt, Nolan Smith, and Brandon Graham.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Is that enough?
- 18:53Speaker 2: No?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Well, that's why I said, do they bring Jalen Phillips
- 18:55Speaker 1: back or do they target someone even bigger? Uh?
- 18:59Speaker 2: No?
- 19:00Speaker 3: I mean, you give up a third round pick for
- 19:02Speaker 3: that guy and he fits your system to a t.
- 19:04Speaker 4: He's played for your defensive coordinator.
- 19:06Speaker 3: You know, he didn't play great in the wild card game,
- 19:09Speaker 3: but overall he played well enough that you think another
- 19:13Speaker 3: year bring him in. Have Hunt continue to and Smith
- 19:16Speaker 3: continue that it's a good You got a good rotation there, all.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Right, we'll keep an eye on that one.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Read Blanket Chip's gonna be interesting because, as we know,
- 19:24Speaker 1: coaches like to go someplace and bring guys with them.
- 19:27Speaker 2: We see it all the time.
- 19:28Speaker 1: John Ganning goes to Arizona, he brings Josh Sweat with him,
- 19:31Speaker 1: brings CAUSEI or White with him, just so he has
- 19:34Speaker 1: some comfort. Christian Parker says, hey, I'm new here. Let
- 19:37Speaker 1: me get a guy who knows my system pretty well.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So that could be one team could read Blanketship end
- 19:44Speaker 1: up with Christian Parker, could na Kobe Dean end up
- 19:48Speaker 1: in Dallas. That would be something to keep an eye on, too, right,
- 19:52Speaker 1: but yeah, it would be.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Now, the history of these guys of Eagles becoming cowboys
- 19:56Speaker 3: and cowboys becoming Eagles is not good.
- 19:59Speaker 4: It's not good at all.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Like we could go through a lot of names, from
- 20:02Speaker 3: Orlando Scandric to DeMarco Murray.
- 20:04Speaker 4: To who else.
- 20:06Speaker 3: There was another there was another Eagle cowboy that didn't
- 20:09Speaker 3: work out for them.
- 20:10Speaker 4: I remember Miles.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Austin switch teams, you know there you go.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but Miles Austin came in here and didn't really
- 20:17Speaker 3: perform in the Chip Kelly era. I feel like there's
- 20:19Speaker 3: another guy who went to the Cowboys from the Eagles
- 20:21Speaker 3: who just didn't pan out either.
- 20:24Speaker 4: So I don't know, it's it's a tough one.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Well, that would be interesting more storylines to keep an
- 20:28Speaker 1: eye on March night that all begins the legal tampering
- 20:31Speaker 1: in football. At four, we'll have you right here on
- 20:34Speaker 1: the sports betch most I'm going away for a while.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'll talk to you in March.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Enjoy Egypt, my friend.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Shukran Shukron, that is thank you in Egyptian.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Oh, I thought we were gonna have to fight for
- 20:45Speaker 1: Arabic that is thank you and Arabic
