- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. One of the most fascinating battles when it
- 0:07Speaker 1: comes to Jeffrey Epstein's associates and Congress and the survivors
- 0:13Speaker 1: is most assuredly Leon Black. And the fact that Leon
- 0:17Speaker 1: Black has been able to set the terms for what
- 0:21Speaker 1: he's doing and when he wants to do it is
- 0:24Speaker 1: just bananas. Imagine you walked into Congress and acted the
- 0:29Speaker 1: way Leon Black did How do you think that would
- 0:31Speaker 1: have worked out? But Leon Black, he gets to do
- 0:35Speaker 1: whatever he wants pretty much. Now, of course, they've threatened
- 0:38Speaker 1: a subpoena and they've hit him with one. But what
- 0:40Speaker 1: are they going to do when he shows up to
- 0:42Speaker 1: Congress and tells them basically to tell their story walking?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Are they going to charge him with contempt? Are they
- 0:50Speaker 1: going to arrest him? We all know the answer to that.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And that's why I say all the time that all
- 0:57Speaker 1: of this nonsense that we see is performative. It doesn't
- 1:01Speaker 1: have any real teeth. And the people that are being
- 1:05Speaker 1: called before Congress, they don't fear repercussions if they're not truthful.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And that's because Congress has shown that they're limp and
- 1:14Speaker 1: they're not going to do anything when people walk all
- 1:17Speaker 1: over them. And that's certainly what Leon Black has been doing. Well,
- 1:21Speaker 1: now some Epstein survivors have banded together to call on
- 1:26Speaker 1: Leon Black to cooperate with the House panel and give
- 1:29Speaker 1: Congress the full story. And in this article from The Guardian,
- 1:34Speaker 1: we're going to talk a little bit more about Leon
- 1:36Speaker 1: Black and the requests made by the Epstein survivors. This
- 1:41Speaker 1: article was authored by Marina Dunbar. More than a dozen
- 1:46Speaker 1: survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse have called on the billionaire
- 1:49Speaker 1: Leon Black to appear before the House Oversight Committee in
- 1:53Speaker 1: order to clarify his connections to the late disgraced financier
- 1:57Speaker 1: and convicted sex offender. Look, Leon Black knows everything. That
- 2:01Speaker 1: he is deep in it. And if it wasn't for
- 2:04Speaker 1: his power, his wealth, his reach, this man would have
- 2:08Speaker 1: been cooked a long time ago. But the thing is,
- 2:12Speaker 1: Leon Black's a very powerful guy. And I know people
- 2:16Speaker 1: don't want to hear that, but it's the truth. I mean,
- 2:18Speaker 1: we're talking about the man that started Apollo Global. He
- 2:22Speaker 1: has a lot of friends in a lot of high places.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And I know that Congress is talking tough. And I
- 2:27Speaker 1: know that they're saying that, you know, there's going to
- 2:29Speaker 1: be penalties for Leon Black. but I'll believe it when
- 2:32Speaker 1: I see it. And look, if we do get to
- 2:35Speaker 1: a point where he's, you know, called out for his
- 2:38Speaker 1: bullshit in a meaningful way, and there's some repercussions, I'll
- 2:42Speaker 1: be the first one to show back up and say, look,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I was wrong. Congress handled their business. Kudos to them. Unfortunately,
- 2:49Speaker 1: history has shown us that that's not the reality of things.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And that if we're waiting for Congress to step in
- 2:55Speaker 1: and be the heroes, we're going to be waiting for
- 2:58Speaker 1: a very, very long time. More than a dozen survivors
- 3:01Speaker 1: of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse have called on the billionaire Leon
- 3:04Speaker 1: Black to appear before the House Oversight Committee in order
- 3:07Speaker 1: to clarify his connection to the late disgraced financier and
- 3:11Speaker 1: convicted sex offender. In a letter released on Wednesday, the
- 3:14Speaker 1: survivors urged Black to comply with the congressional subpoenas ahead
- 3:18Speaker 1: of Thursday's deposition before the House Oversight Committee. Look, I
- 3:23Speaker 1: just don't believe that Leon Black's going to do the
- 3:25Speaker 1: right thing. He's going to show up with Susan Estrich,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the rest of those lawyers... And they're going to run interference.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Everything's going to be a challenge. Everything's going to be
- 3:34Speaker 1: a fight. It's going to be theater is really what
- 3:37Speaker 1: it's going to turn into. And maybe that's always been
- 3:41Speaker 1: the goal. I mean, what has the committee done? Has
- 3:45Speaker 1: anybody been indicted? Is there any sweeping investigations that we
- 3:49Speaker 1: know about? Now, look, maybe they have something going on
- 3:51Speaker 1: behind the scenes, but I highly doubt it. This day
- 3:55Speaker 1: and age, you don't think there'd be a leak? Somebody
- 3:57Speaker 1: talking about what's going on? And until Congress holds somebody accountable,
- 4:02Speaker 1: then this is all performative. We are survivors of Jeffrey
- 4:10Speaker 1: Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's abuse and exploitation, and we're calling
- 4:13Speaker 1: on Leon Black to appear as required before the House
- 4:16Speaker 1: Oversight Committee on Thursday, the statement said. We are also
- 4:21Speaker 1: calling on Black to fully comply with the committee's subpoenas
- 4:24Speaker 1: and including its demand that he produce all responsive non-disclosure
- 4:28Speaker 1: agreements in his possession. And is there anything unfair about
- 4:33Speaker 1: what they're calling for? Nobody's asking Leon Black for anything
- 4:37Speaker 1: that goes above and beyond his connections to Epstein. See,
- 4:40Speaker 1: the problem is his connections to Epstein are the most problematic.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And that's why he doesn't want to turn that information over.
- 4:48Speaker 1: That's why he doesn't want to be forthcoming. And that's
- 4:51Speaker 1: why he continues to play games. Black, the New York
- 4:55Speaker 1: private equity investor, paid Epstein tens of millions of dollars
- 4:58Speaker 1: in fees during work he has described as tax and
- 5:01Speaker 1: estate planning services. He's already faced accusations of purposely delaying
- 5:07Speaker 1: and disrupting the panel's inquiry. Well, yeah, he has. This
- 5:11Speaker 1: man has been noncompliant. He's been obtuse. And he refuses
- 5:16Speaker 1: to do what Congress tells him to do. And I
- 5:19Speaker 1: don't understand how that doesn't make people more agitated, more angry.
- 5:23Speaker 1: considering you have a whole ass different set of rules
- 5:26Speaker 1: that you're expected to abide by. So if I'm expected
- 5:30Speaker 1: to abide by some set of rules, then I expect
- 5:32Speaker 1: Leon Black to have the same kind of obligations that
- 5:35Speaker 1: any of us would have. The letter further stated that
- 5:40Speaker 1: Black's use of NDAs underscores why Congress must scrutinize the
- 5:43Speaker 1: agreements in his possession and determine whether they shed light
- 5:47Speaker 1: on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and others in Epstein's orbit.
- 5:52Speaker 1: If Black continues to withhold responsive records or refuses to
- 5:55Speaker 1: comply with the committee's demands, Congress should use every tool
- 5:59Speaker 1: available to enforce its subpoenas. Yes, they should. The question is,
- 6:04Speaker 1: will they? Like, is this a fight that Congress really wants?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Or is it just something that they're making pretend they
- 6:11Speaker 1: care about? Because I would think that with everything we
- 6:16Speaker 1: know about Leon Black, couldn't you just refer him to
- 6:19Speaker 1: the Justice Department? And then say, hey, look, the Justice
- 6:23Speaker 1: Department has decided they don't want to go after him.
- 6:26Speaker 1: We did our job. We referred him. But baby Billy
- 6:30Speaker 1: Blanche and Donald Trump, they have other ideas. You know,
- 6:32Speaker 1: Ben Black's part of the administration, etc., etc. But if
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm in Congress, I'm referring this dude. And that's it.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I think there's enough here for an investigation. And then
- 6:44Speaker 1: whatever the investigation finds, great. As long as it's a
- 6:47Speaker 1: real investigation and it's robust... I'm more than willing to
- 6:51Speaker 1: live with the results of the investigation. That's how confident
- 6:54Speaker 1: I am that there's a whole ton of malfeasance here. Now,
- 6:57Speaker 1: if it went the other way and they had a
- 6:59Speaker 1: transparent process and we were all, you know, able to
- 7:02Speaker 1: see what's going on, at least, you know, to a
- 7:04Speaker 1: certain point, and it all ended up being overblown, then
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'd certainly accept those results. I'm not going to move
- 7:10Speaker 1: the goalposts. The problem is they don't even want that
- 7:14Speaker 1: kind of investigation because they're scared of the results. That's
- 7:18Speaker 1: what it comes down to. just like I've been telling
- 7:20Speaker 1: you now, for seven years. Last week, the Republican chairman
- 7:24Speaker 1: of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, threatened to hold
- 7:27Speaker 1: Black in contempt if he fails to fully cooperate with
- 7:29Speaker 1: the panel's investigation into Epstein. Black had not yet confirmed
- 7:34Speaker 1: his appearance before the committee as of Tuesday. A person
- 7:37Speaker 1: familiar with the matter had told The Guardian, Imagine just
- 7:40Speaker 1: ghosting Congress. Yeah, sure, I might show up. I might not, though.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I got other things to do. You know, I got
- 7:46Speaker 1: a meeting, and we got some bagels and lox to eat.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And then we're going to talk about artwork. And then,
- 7:51Speaker 1: you know, maybe, just maybe, I can carve out a
- 7:54Speaker 1: little bit of time to go and speak to Congress.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I mean, what are we doing here? Like, what the
- 7:59Speaker 1: fuck are we doing? Who's in charge? Congress? Or bitch-ass
- 8:02Speaker 1: Leon Black? Looks like Leon Black. And like usual, Congress
- 8:08Speaker 1: looks limp-wristed and useless. In a previous statement before the
- 8:12Speaker 1: Oversight Committee in June, Black denied knowledge of Epstein's crimes, writing,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I did not know about this nefarious activity until Epstein
- 8:19Speaker 1: was charged with trafficking in July of 2019. Oh no,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I had no idea. No clue whatsoever. How could I know?
- 8:29Speaker 1: The great and mysterious Leon Black. Mr. Smartest man in
- 8:33Speaker 1: the history of smart men. Unless it comes to Jeffrey Epstein.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Then I'm just a big dumb fuck, right? Give me
- 8:40Speaker 1: a break. I'm so tired of these people and their nonsense.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And I'm really tired of Congress. letting these people get
- 8:46Speaker 1: away with said nonsense. Here's an idea. Step the fuck up.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Do the right thing. Just once. However, Black acknowledged that
- 8:57Speaker 1: he was aware that Epstein had pleaded guilty in 2008
- 8:59Speaker 1: to state charges relating to prostitution involving a minor. But
- 9:04Speaker 1: that's no big deal. She was 17, right? Forget about
- 9:07Speaker 1: the other 45 girls. And to the dumb fucks in
- 9:11Speaker 1: the back of the room, don't you see that this
- 9:13Speaker 1: was done on purpose? Yes. Instead of using the complaints
- 9:16Speaker 1: of the girls that were 14 and 15, they decided
- 9:19Speaker 1: that the only allegation they're going to use, the only
- 9:22Speaker 1: charge he's going to get hit with, is from a
- 9:24Speaker 1: girl that's 17. Ask yourself why they did that, especially
- 9:28Speaker 1: now with hindsight as your guide. Look at how beneficial
- 9:31Speaker 1: that was to Jeffrey Epstein and his buddies. Look at
- 9:34Speaker 1: the narrative that they're building now. Do you really think
- 9:37Speaker 1: they didn't know that back then? They insert this bomb
- 9:41Speaker 1: here and it becomes the narrative. Rinson, fucking repeat. And
- 9:45Speaker 1: the fact that people still keep falling for it is
- 9:47Speaker 1: crazy to me. I don't know how anyone can be
- 9:50Speaker 1: honest and say they looked at this case and that
- 9:54Speaker 1: there was a robust investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his
- 9:57Speaker 1: criminal enterprise. Because that just isn't the case. speech from
- 10:01Speaker 1: the House floor this week, Thomas Massey, the Kentucky Republican,
- 10:05Speaker 1: who recently lost his primary to a challenger backed by
- 10:07Speaker 1: Donald Trump, read aloud the names of several friends and
- 10:10Speaker 1: associates of Epstein, including Black. Massey called on the Department
- 10:15Speaker 1: of Justice to investigate the group of men and women
- 10:17Speaker 1: involved whom the representatives refer to as perpetrators of Epstein's crimes.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Massey also emphasized that despite the fact that it has
- 10:26Speaker 1: been nearly a year since Trump signed the Epstein Files
- 10:29Speaker 1: Transparency Act, millions of the Epstein files remain unreleased. And
- 10:35Speaker 1: that is not what the act called for. Oh, it's duplicative.
- 10:38Speaker 1: They have to do with national security. What the fuck
- 10:41Speaker 1: does a lone predator who's diddling kids have to do
- 10:44Speaker 1: with national security? Because remember, that's what they told us
- 10:47Speaker 1: he was. So if that's the case, shouldn't be a
- 10:50Speaker 1: big deal, right? Was John Wayne Gacy a national security threat?
- 10:55Speaker 1: How about, oh, I don't know, Jeffrey Dahmer? How about
- 10:59Speaker 1: Israel Keyes? Of course, the answer is no to all
- 11:02Speaker 1: of them. But when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein, we
- 11:04Speaker 1: have national security interests that have to be looked after.
- 11:08Speaker 1: What does that even mean? Can somebody please explain that?
- 11:11Speaker 1: I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact
- 11:12Speaker 1: that Jeffrey Epstein was working as a middleman in the
- 11:15Speaker 1: world of intelligence, right? Nah, nothing to do with that.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So look, is Leon Black going to appear today? That's
- 11:21Speaker 1: certainly the question. And when we have the answer, we'll
- 11:24Speaker 1: get it added to the catalog. All the information that
- 11:28Speaker 1: goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
