- 0:00What if the narratives shaping your view of marriage and family are actually
- 0:03pulling you away from God's truth?
- 0:06Hey everyone, welcome back to the Couples Journey blog series podcast.
- 0:10We're on part four of Total Commitment.
- 0:13Today, Annie will share her personal journey of rediscovering biblical perspectives
- 0:18amidst life's challenges.
- 0:20Stay tuned, because understanding your role in God's plan could transform your
- 0:24marriage forever. Here's Annie.
- 0:28With so many narratives actively spreading today, it's easy to lose sight of
- 0:34what the Bible truly teaches about marriage and family, and more importantly, our roles within them.
- 0:40We often only realize which perceptions are deeply rooted in us when challenges come our way.
- 0:47I used to think that my early exposure to Christianity was enough for a better
- 0:53life. I believed that just declaring the gospel once was enough to ensure I was good.
- 0:58But I started to notice my connection with God weakening when my unpleasing
- 1:03choices and decisions led me into sin.
- 1:06My fellowship and intimacy with Him were truly compromised.
- 1:11I lost touch with His Word and I didn't fully understand how to live anchored
- 1:16in the power and influence of the Holy Spirit. When I stepped into the roles
- 1:20of wife and mother, my perceptions of these responsibilities were based on worldly ideas.
- 1:26I built my understanding on what I saw around me and on logical reasoning without
- 1:31realizing how far it was from God's perspective.
- 1:35I circulated my commitment to marriage based on these worldly beliefs,
- 1:40rather than aligning it with biblical truths.
- 1:42My commitment to my marriage was put to test when we faced a drastic change
- 1:48in our business that affected my relationship with Rey.
- 1:52It was one of the hardest seasons I've experienced.
- 1:56But in hindsight, I realized that it was God's mercy and grace at work in our lives.
- 2:03It was during the time that God revealed where I was placing my trust on my
- 2:08own desires instead of him and how my understanding of my role as a wife and mother was flawed.
- 2:14My fleshly desires had taken over and they no longer pleases God.
- 2:19I misunderstood what Jesus Christ did for me and the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
- 2:25God humbled me until I finally understood that he created me and entrusted me
- 2:30with these rules so I could be a supportive and intentional partner and mother.
- 2:35This realization transformed my perspective and strengthened my commitment to
- 2:40run the race of faith and life with purpose.
- 2:43You can learn more about my initial testimony through our book,
- 2:48Couples' Journey, Restore, Relearn, Rejoice.
- 2:51My intentional pursuit of this faith journey has opened my eyes to God's truth
- 2:57and allowed me to witness many testimonies from fellow wives and mothers who
- 3:02have embraced God's intervention and their profound calling.
- 3:06I've learned that our role as wives and mothers is to nurture a Christ-centered
- 3:11home where love, forgiveness, and spiritual growth are at the forefront.
- 3:16By actively pursuing our own walk with God, setting spiritual goals,
- 3:22forgiving quickly, and encouraging our family.
- 3:24We can support our husbands in creating an environment where everyone can thrive
- 3:29according to God's purpose.
- 3:31Many challenges will come our way, from worldly misconceptions and Satan's temptations
- 3:36to our own weaknesses. But with God's grace, we can persevere and maintain unwavering
- 3:42faith that will impact our spouses and children.
- 3:47Daily communion with God through His Word and prayer will not only equip us,
- 3:51but also inspire us to run this race with purpose and resilience.
- 3:57Fellow wives, we face numerous challenges today.
- 4:01Misunderstandings of womanhood, misconceptions about our roles as wives and
- 4:06mothers. but our faithfulness and intentionality in anchoring ourselves and
- 4:11our families in God's promises will sustain us.
- 4:14A continuous pursuit of His righteousness will help us resilient,
- 4:20focused, and rooted in Christ.
- 4:23May your personal encounters with God's love and grace in every season minister
- 4:28to you and strengthen you in your roles.
