- 0:00You can say I am tired and feel the whole day obey.
- 0:03You can say I am behind and watch the body lean forward as
- 0:07if life is already leaving without you.
- 0:09You can say I am unwanted and suddenly a silent phone becomes
- 0:14evidence. You can say I am safe and notice
- 0:18the breath return before the situation has changed. 2 words
- 0:22can open a room or close one. They can make the same face look
- 0:26friendly or threatening. They can make the same delay.
- 0:30They feel like rejection or rearrangement.
- 0:33That is why the small sentence before every thought matters.
- 0:37It is not decoration, it is a door.
- 0:40Most people try to change the room while standing in the
- 0:43doorway of the old self. They want a new answer while
- 0:46repeating the identity that made the old answer feel inevitable.
- 0:51They want peace while privately saying I am powerless.
- 0:54They want love while privately saying I am too much.
- 0:58They want provision while privately saying I am always on
- 1:01the edge. The world hears the state before
- 1:04it hears the request. The body hears it too.
- 1:07The mind looks for proof of it. The day begins organizing around
- 1:12it. So the question is not only what
- 1:14is desired. The question is who is speaking
- 1:16before desire even forms. If the words I AM are the
- 1:20doorway, then the listener must decide which state is being
- 1:24entered every time those words are used.
- 1:27This episode explores Neville Goddard's I AM idea through
- 1:31modern host LED commentary and practical application.
- 1:35The focus is a living problem. The listener may be using
- 1:38identity language all day without noticing it.
- 1:42In law of assumption terms, I AM can be understood as identity
- 1:46selection. It is the inner placement before
- 1:49thought, emotion, interpretation and action.
- 1:53A person does not merely say words.
- 1:56They step into a state, and from that state they interpret the
- 1:59world. That interpretation becomes the
- 2:02atmosphere of the day. A useful way to begin is to
- 2:06notice that I am Israeli neutral.
- 2:08It is often followed by a quiet verdict.
- 2:11I am late, I am unlucky, I am invisible.
- 2:15I am the one who has to try harder.
- 2:17I am the one who gets left. These may not sound like
- 2:21spiritual declarations because they are ordinary and private.
- 2:25That is exactly why they are powerful.
- 2:27They pass without ceremony. They feel like facts.
- 2:31The listener does not light a candle before saying them.
- 2:34They simply repeat them while making coffee, opening messages,
- 2:38walking into a room, or lying awake at night.
- 2:42The old state does not need drama when it has repetition.
- 2:45Neville's broader teaching treats imagination and
- 2:48consciousness as creative starting points.
- 2:51In a careful modern interpretation, the phrase I am
- 2:55can be treated as the place where the a listener assigns
- 2:58themselves a state. Not a costume, not a fantasy, a
- 3:02state. The state is the inward sense of
- 3:05being someone. Someone chosen, someone
- 3:07rejected, someone provided for, someone abandoned, someone calm,
- 3:13someone always bracing. The state is the invisible home
- 3:16from which thoughts leave and to which interpretations return.
- 3:21This matters because many people try to change behavior without
- 3:25changing the state that gives behavior behavior its tone.
- 3:29The insecure state can send a message that sounds needy even
- 3:33if the words are polished. The secure state can send a
- 3:36short message that feels clean because it is not begging.
- 3:41The unwanted state can walk into a room and search for proof of
- 3:44exclusion. The chosen state can walk into
- 3:47the same room and remain available to connection.
- 3:51The outer action may look similar, but the inner state
- 3:54changes the meaning of the action.
- 3:56Here is the first teaching distinction.
- 3:59I am is not a magic phrase for forcing life to obey a slogan.
- 4:03It is a doorway into self concept.
- 4:06If the listener says I am wealthy while feeling terrified
- 4:09of every ordinary bill, the practice is not to shout louder.
- 4:14The practice is to discover the state that wealth represents.
- 4:17Security, order, sufficiency, being supported, being capable
- 4:22of wise choices. If the listener says I am loved
- 4:26while living from constant suspicion, the practice is not
- 4:29to pretend suspicion is gone. The practice is to enter the
- 4:34state of being lovable and secure enough not to interrogate
- 4:38every silence. Imagine Celia, who wakes each
- 4:41morning with the same sentence, already waiting before her feet
- 4:46touch the floor. The mind says I am behind.
- 4:49Nothing has happened yet. No e-mail has arrived.
- 4:52No conversation has begun. No problem has been solved or
- 4:57created, but the state is already chosen.
- 5:00From behind. She checks the phone.
- 5:02From behind, she reads a normal message as pressure.
- 5:06From behind, she drinks coffee as if time is accusing her.
- 5:10From behind, she plans the day as a defense against failure.
- 5:14By noon, the sentence feels proven, but the proof was
- 5:17gathered by the state that began the morning.
- 5:20Now imagine Celia practicing differently.
- 5:23She wakes and catches the old doorway before walking through
- 5:27it. She does not argue with the
- 5:29whole day. She does not force herself into
- 5:31excitement. She simply refuses to complete
- 5:34the old sentence. Instead of I am behind, she
- 5:38says, I am entering this day from order.
- 5:41Then she gives that state a body.
- 5:43She sits up slowly. She places both feet on the
- 5:46floor. She chooses the first clean
- 5:49action. She answers one message, not
- 5:51every fear. The day may still contain tasks,
- 5:55but it no longer begins as a trial again against her worth.
- 5:58This is the practical promise of I am work.
- 6:01It helps the listener intercept identity before identity becomes
- 6:06interpretation. The old self says I am rejected
- 6:10and then every silence looks like evidence.
- 6:13The old self says I am unsafe and then every number looks like
- 6:17danger. The old self says I am powerless
- 6:21and then every delay looks like a wall.
- 6:23The selected state says I am grounded and the same becomes
- 6:28space. I am supported and the same
- 6:31number becomes information. I am capable and the same delay
- 6:35becomes a place for clear action.
- 6:37Pause here and notice the structure.
- 6:40The episode has not asked the listener to deny facts.
- 6:44It has asked the listener to observe the state that
- 6:46interprets facts. A message can be unanswered.
- 6:50A bill can exist. A meeting can be difficult.
- 6:53A memory can still carry charge. The practice is not to erase the
- 6:58appearance. The practice is to stop letting
- 7:01the appearance finish the sentence after I am.
- 7:04In a moment, the teaching becomes more precise because the
- 7:08listener needs a way to tell the difference between a chosen
- 7:11state and a sentence painted over fear.
- 7:15A chosen state has a different quality from a forced
- 7:18affirmation. A forced affirmation feels like
- 7:21shouting across a Canyon. It often argues with terror.
- 7:25It says I am safe while secretly begging the body to stop feeling
- 7:29unsafe. A chosen state is quieter.
- 7:32It may begin as a small turn of attention.
- 7:35It says even with this sensation present, I can enter the state
- 7:40of steadiness. It does not require instant
- 7:42emotional perfection. It requires direction.
- 7:46The listener turns from the identity of panic toward the
- 7:49identity of inner authority. There are three tests for a
- 7:53useful I am sentence. First, it should name a state
- 7:57rather than a fantasy scene. I am chosen is a state.
- 8:01I am receiving one exact message by noon is a controlled demand.
- 8:06Second, it should produce a possible posture in the body.
- 8:09I am secure, can soften the shoulders, I am respected, can
- 8:13lift the head. I am guided, can slow the
- 8:16breath. Third, it should invite wise
- 8:19action, not avoidance. I am provided for may lead to
- 8:22calm budgeting, honest planning, or asking for help without
- 8:26shame. If if the sentence makes the
- 8:28listener passive, frantic, or superior, it needs refinement.
- 8:33Consider the sentence I am the operant power.
- 8:36Handled carelessly, that idea can become pressure, ego, or
- 8:41blame. Handled as commentary and
- 8:43practice, it points to responsibility for in a state.
- 8:47The listener is not being asked to control every person or
- 8:51event. The listener is being asked not
- 8:54to abandon the state to every person or event.
- 8:57That is a more grounded use of the idea.
- 9:00It restores authorship without making impossible promises.
- 9:04A modern example can make this clear.
- 9:07Marcus has an interview in three days.
- 9:10His old sentence is I am not the kind of person they choose from
- 9:14that state. He prepares with dread.
- 9:17He reads the job description as a list of accusations.
- 9:21He remembers past disappointments as prophecy.
- 9:24He imagines the interviewer looking through him.
- 9:27Even his practice answers sound apologetic because the state
- 9:31beneath them is already asking permission to exist.
- 9:35Marcus changes the doorway. He does not say I am guaranteed
- 9:39this job. That would make the practice
- 9:42brittle and dependent on one outcome.
- 9:44Instead, he chooses I am a clear, valuable presence.
- 9:48That sentence names a state. It gives the body a posture.
- 9:53It invites wise action. From that state, he prepares
- 9:56examples. From that state, he practices
- 9:59speaking without shrinking. From that state, he sleeps
- 10:03earlier instead of scrolling through fear.
- 10:06From that state, the interview becomes a place to express
- 10:09value, not a courtroom deciding whether he is real.
- 10:13Notice how this avoids over claiming no one can honestly
- 10:17promise Marcus a specific result.
- 10:20Other candidates, timing, budgets, and practical systems
- 10:23exist, but the chosen state changes how Marcus prepares,
- 10:28speaks, listens, and recovers. It may change the quality of the
- 10:32opportunity he can recognize. It may change whether he
- 10:36abandons himself before the room has even met him.
- 10:39That is not small. A life is often altered by the
- 10:43state from which ordinary actions are taken.
- 10:46The same principle applies in relationships.
- 10:50A listener who lives from I am Unwanted may turn small pauses
- 10:54into verdicts. They may read neutral language
- 10:57as withdrawal. They may ask questions that are
- 11:00really accusations in disguise. They may overexplain over, give,
- 11:05or vanish before anyone can leave.
- 11:08If the selected state becomes I am loved and secure in myself,
- 11:12the behavior changes. The listener can communicate
- 11:16without begging. They can listen without
- 11:18collecting injury. They can set boundaries without
- 11:21trying to punish. They can remain warm without
- 11:24becoming available to confusion. This does not mean using I am to
- 11:28excuse poor treatment. The secure state can leave.
- 11:33The loved state can say no. The respected state can end a
- 11:36conversation in a work should clarify reality, not blur it.
- 11:41The state of being loved is not proven by tolerating what harms
- 11:45the soul. It is often proven by choosing
- 11:48from dignity. This is why I am practice must
- 11:51be paired with grounded caveats. It is spiritual identity work,
- 11:55not a replacement for safety support, medical care, legal
- 12:00counsel, financial planning, or honest communication when those
- 12:04are needed. Another example, Lena wants to
- 12:07feel financially safe. Her old I am is subtle.
- 12:11It is not I am poor spoken dramatically.
- 12:14It is I am always one step from trouble.
- 12:17From that state. Every purchase becomes guilt,
- 12:20every invoice becomes threat. Every plan becomes a trap.
- 12:24She tries affirming abundance, but the body does not believe
- 12:28the performance, so she simplifies.
- 12:30Her new state is I am learning state stable provision.
- 12:34This is humbler but stronger. It allows her to organize, ask
- 12:38questions, make plans, receive help, and stop turning every
- 12:43number into a prophecy. The best I am sentenced often
- 12:46has a bridge between the old state and the desired state.
- 12:50If I am perfectly confident, feels fake, try I am allowed to
- 12:54stand here with growing confidence.
- 12:57If I am wealthy, feels too distant, try.
- 12:59I am practicing the state of sufficiency and ordinance.
- 13:03If I am loved, feels unreachable, try.
- 13:06I am willing to stop arguing for my unworthiness.
- 13:09These are not weaker, they are usable.
- 13:12A usable doorway is better than a golden door.
- 13:15The listener refuses to enter. Now move into practical
- 13:19application. Take a sheet of paper or simply
- 13:22use the mind. Write the old sentence that
- 13:25seems to run the day. I am behind, I am unwanted, I am
- 13:29unsafe, I am too late. I am invisible.
- 13:33I am not ready. Then ask what state that
- 13:35sentence keeps alive. Do not judge it.
- 13:38Name it scarcity, rejection, pressure, fear, smallness.
- 13:43Now choose the state that would naturally answer it.
- 13:46Order chosen. Calm, safety, timeliness,
- 13:50presence, readiness. The new I am should point to
- 13:53that state. Next, make the state physical.
- 13:56If the sentence is I am present. Let the eyes stop searching the
- 14:00room for threat. If the sentence is I am secure,
- 14:03let the breath move lower. If the sentence is I am chosen,
- 14:08calm, let the hand stop reaching for proof.
- 14:11If the sentence is I am guided, Let the next action become
- 14:15simple. The body is not separate from
- 14:17the state. It is one of the places where
- 14:19the state becomes believable. Then place the state into one
- 14:23ordinary scene. Not a mansion, not dramatic
- 14:27applause, not a fantasy that makes the present feel
- 14:30worthless. Choose an ordinary scene from
- 14:33tomorrow. Opening the phone, walking into
- 14:36work, paying for groceries, answering a message, sitting
- 14:41alone at night. In imagination, do that ordinary
- 14:44thing as the person who has entered the new state.
- 14:47Feel the difference in posture, pace, and in a speech that's a
- 14:52small rehearsal is often more transformative than an
- 14:55extravagant scene that never touches daily life.
- 14:58For a SAT style bedtime version, keep it even shorter as the body
- 15:03becomes drowsy. Choose one sentence.
- 15:06I am the one who is calm in the fulfilled state.
- 15:09I am the one who lives from inner authority.
- 15:12I am the one who is safely becoming.
- 15:14Then create a 5 second loop. Perhaps a hand on the heart
- 15:18while breathing easily, Perhaps closing a lap top with relief.
- 15:23Perhaps hearing a trusted voice say you seem different, steady,
- 15:27settled. Repeat gently until the scene
- 15:30feels less like effort and more like atmosphere.
- 15:33If the mind interrupts, do not turn the interruption into
- 15:37failure. The old state may still speak.
- 15:40Let it speak without crowning it.
- 15:42If it says this will not work, answer with direction, not
- 15:46argument, I am returning. If it says nothing has changed,
- 15:50answer I am practicing the state before evidence.
- 15:54If it says you are pretending, answer I am choosing the
- 15:57identity from which I will live tonight.
- 16:00Then return to the scene. The return is the training.
- 16:04The listener should also audit casual speech.
- 16:07Many I am statements hide inside jokes and complaints.
- 16:11I am terrible with money. I am always the one who gets
- 16:14ignored. I am bad at this.
- 16:16I am cursed with timing. I am just anxious.
- 16:20Some of these sentences may feel harmless because they are
- 16:23familiar, but familiarity is not innocence.
- 16:27Repeated identity language teaches the mind what to expect
- 16:31from itself. The audit is not about becoming
- 16:34stiff or afraid of words. It is about stopping loyalty to
- 16:38identities that are no longer welcome.
- 16:41A clean replacement does not need to sound grand.
- 16:45I am learning. I am returning to order.
- 16:47I am becoming easier to support. I am practicing calm
- 16:51communication. I am available to a better
- 16:54state. I am no longer rehearsing that
- 16:56old identity. These sentences leave room for
- 17:00growth while pointing inwardly toward the desired state.
- 17:04They do not guarantee an outcome.
- 17:06They change the starting place from which outcomes are met.
- 17:09There is a subtle paradox here. The listener enters the desired
- 17:13state, not by denying the old state, but by no longer making
- 17:17the old state central. If fear is present, fear is
- 17:20present. If the body is tense, the body
- 17:23is tense. If doubt appears, doubt appears.
- 17:27None of that has to complete the sentence.
- 17:30I am can remain A doorway. I am aware of fear, but I am not
- 17:34fear's identity. I am noticing doubt, but I am
- 17:37not doubt. Servant.
- 17:38I am meeting uncertainty, but I am not uncertainty's child.
- 17:43This is where the teaching becomes practical for repeated
- 17:46patterns. Suppose the listener often feels
- 17:49overlooked. The old state scans for
- 17:51exclusion and finds it everywhere.
- 17:54The I AM practice is not merely saying I am seen, it is acting
- 17:58from scene. How does a scene person enter
- 18:01the room? How do they speak?
- 18:03How do they listen? What do they stop doing?
- 18:06Perhaps they stop shrinking their sentences.
- 18:09Perhaps they stop laughing at their own needs.
- 18:12Perhaps they stop chasing people who only respond to absence.
- 18:16The state begins to educate behaviour.
- 18:18Suppose the listener often feels unsupported.
- 18:22The old state says everything rests on me.
- 18:25The revised I am might be I am supported and capable of
- 18:29receiving support. From there, the listener may
- 18:32make a call, accept help, organize a task, or stop
- 18:36rejecting kindness because it does not arrive in the exact
- 18:40form imagined. The state opens perception.
- 18:44It may reveal support that the old identity dismissed.
- 18:47It may also reveal places where the listener can support
- 18:51themselves with less drama. Suppose the listener often feels
- 18:55spiritually impatient. The old state says I must have
- 18:59proof now or I am failing. The revised I am might be I am
- 19:03faithful to the state before proof arrives.
- 19:06From there, waiting changes texture.
- 19:09It is no longer an empty hallway.
- 19:12This becomes a place where identity is practiced.
- 19:15The listener still takes action, they still discern, they still
- 19:19adjust, but they do not make every hour without evidence into
- 19:23a collapse of self. Before closing, use a five step
- 19:26I am audit. First, catch the old sentence.
- 19:30Second, name the state it creates.
- 19:32Third, choose the state that answers it. 4th Give the new
- 19:36state a physical posture. 5th Rehearse 1 ordinary scene from
- 19:40that state. This audit can be done in 3
- 19:43minutes. It can be done before sleep,
- 19:46before a meeting, before sending a message, or before opening a
- 19:50bill. Its power is in repetition.
- 19:53At the exact doorway where the old identity usually enters.
- 19:57Here is the guided reflection. Let 1 old I am sentence rise
- 20:02without shame. Hear it clearly.
- 20:04Notice how the body changes when it is believed.
- 20:07Notice the room it opens. Now step back from it.
- 20:11That sentence is a. Doorway not a command.
- 20:14Choose another doorway. I am steady, I am chosen.
- 20:17Calm. I am learning provision.
- 20:20I am present. I am safe to be seen.
- 20:23Choose one. Let the body respond.
- 20:25Let the breath move as if the new state has somewhere to sit.
- 20:29Now imagine tomorrow morning for five seconds.
- 20:33See yourself doing one ordinary thing from that state.
- 20:36Keep it simple. Keep it natural.
- 20:39Let the scene close before effort returns to deepen the
- 20:43exercise. Bear the sentence with a small
- 20:45refusal. Refuse 1 old performance.
- 20:49Refuse to check the phone from panic.
- 20:51Refuse to apologize for existing.
- 20:54Refuse to turn one bill into a prophecy.
- 20:57Refuse to make one person's mood into your identity.
- 21:01The refusal should be quiet, not dramatic.
- 21:04It is not a war against the world.
- 21:07It is the end of cooperation with the old state.
- 21:10The listener is not fighting a appearances.
- 21:13The listener is withdrawing permission from the identity
- 21:16those appearances used to activate.
- 21:19Then pair the sentence with one ordinary act of agreement.
- 21:23If the state is, I am orderly, clear one surface before bed.
- 21:27If the state is, I am supported. Send one honest request without
- 21:31shame. If the state is, I am chosen
- 21:34calm. Put the phone down after one
- 21:37clean response. If the state is I am visible.
- 21:40Speak one sentence without shrinking it.
- 21:43The action is not payment for the state.
- 21:46It is agreement with the state. It teaches the body that the
- 21:49sentence has a life. Some listeners will notice grief
- 21:53when they change an IAM sentence.
- 21:56That is natural. The old identity may have been
- 21:59painful, but it was familiar. It explained disappointments.
- 22:03It gave the mind a map. Leaving it can feel like
- 22:06stepping out of a dark room before the eyes have adjusted.
- 22:10Be gentle in that moment. The new state does not have to
- 22:13feel complete on the first day. It only has to be chosen
- 22:17honestly enough to practice. Familiarity will come through
- 22:21return. The listener does not need to
- 22:23fix a whole life tonight. 1 doorway is enough.
- 22:27One repeated sentence is enough to study.
- 22:30One ordinary scene is enough to rehearse.
- 22:33The old state was built by repetition, and the new state is
- 22:36welcomed the same way. Not by panic, not by
- 22:40performance. By returning, each return says
- 22:43the same thing inwardly. This is the self I am practicing
- 22:47now. No guaranteed manifestation,
- 22:50wealth, health, relationship, legal or life outcome can
- 22:55honestly be promised from an inner exercise.
- 22:58What can be practiced is the state from which the listener
- 23:00thinks, feels, interprets, communicates, chooses, and
- 23:05rests. That practice can change
- 23:07perception, it can change behavior.
- 23:10It can calm the body, it can make wiser action available.
- 23:14It can help the listener stop living as the old verdict before
- 23:18the day has even begun. Another way to test the chosen
- 23:21state is to look at the questions it asks.
- 23:24The state of lack asks why is this missing?
- 23:28The state of rejection asks why do they not choose me?
- 23:31The state of fear asks what if this gets worse?
- 23:35These questions do not simply request information, they aim
- 23:39attention. A new I am sentence should
- 23:41create a new new question. From I am guided, the question
- 23:45becomes what is the next clean step?
- 23:47From I am secure, it becomes what can be handled calmly
- 23:51today. From I am chosen calm, it
- 23:54becomes how would I move if I no longer needed to chase proof?
- 23:58This question practice is useful because many people repeat a new
- 24:02sentence while continuing to ask old questions.
- 24:06They say I am provided for, then spend the next hour asking why
- 24:11provision is. They say I am loved, then search
- 24:15for every sign of distance. The state has not become the
- 24:18operating place yet. It is still a line placed over
- 24:22an old courtroom. Let the new I am change the
- 24:25inquiry. A changed question is often the
- 24:28first sign that the doorway has actually been crossed.
- 24:31The listener can also use contrast without becoming
- 24:35trapped in it. Contrast means briefly noticing
- 24:38the old state so the new state can be chosen deliberately.
- 24:43It is not a place to live. If the old sentence is I am
- 24:46always forgotten, the contrast reveals a hunger to be
- 24:49remembered, valued and included. The new state.
- 24:53Maybe I am held in mind by the right people and I hold myself
- 24:57with care. The point is not to argue with
- 25:00every memory of being forgotten. The point is to stop using those
- 25:04memories as the doorway into today.
- 25:08There is a difference between identity and mood.
- 25:11A mood may rise and fall with weather, sleep, food, messages
- 25:15and pressure. Identity is the deeper place the
- 25:19listener returns to even while moods move.
- 25:22I am practice should not demand that every mood become pleasant.
- 25:26It asks that no mood be allowed to define the whole self.
- 25:30The listener may feel sad and still be loved.
- 25:33They may feel nervous and still be capable.
- 25:36They may feel uncertain and still be guided.
- 25:39This distinction keeps the practice humane.
- 25:42For people who resist spiritual language, the same practice can
- 25:46be understood psychologically. The self label shapes
- 25:50perception, posture, attention, and choice.
- 25:53When the label changes, the field of possible action
- 25:56changes. But Neville's framework adds
- 25:59mystical weight to that ordinary observation.
- 26:02It treats imagination not as decoration but as the inner
- 26:06workshop where identity is accepted before evidence agrees.
- 26:11The modern listener does not have to force belief.
- 26:14They can begin by noticing the label and choosing a better
- 26:18state with sincerity. Use the doorway.
- 26:20Practice before conversations. Before replying to a difficult
- 26:24message, pause and ask which I am is about to answer.
- 26:29I am accused, will answer defensively.
- 26:31I am desperate, will answer too quickly.
- 26:34I am respected, will answer clearly.
- 26:37I am safe to be honest. Will answer with less
- 26:39performance. The word sent may be simple, but
- 26:42the state beneath them changes the tone.
- 26:45Sometimes the most powerful communication shift happens
- 26:49before the 1st sentence is typed.
- 26:51Use the doorway. Practice with money before
- 26:54opening an account, a bill, or a price.
- 26:57Ask which I am is looking. I am doomed.
- 27:00Will read numbers as prophecy. I am irresponsible.
- 27:04Will turn information into shame.
- 27:06I am learning order will read the same number as instruction.
- 27:10I am supported in wise action. We'll look for the next honest
- 27:14step. This is not financial advice and
- 27:17it is not a promise of outcome. It is an inner discipline that
- 27:21helps practical decisions emerge from steadiness rather than
- 27:25collapse. Use the doorway practice With
- 27:28sleep. The final identity of the
- 27:30evening often becomes the first atmosphere of the morning.
- 27:34If the listener falls asleep as I am failing, the night may be
- 27:38become a rehearsal of pressure. If the listener falls asleep as
- 27:42I am safely becoming, the body receives a different instruction
- 27:47before sleep. Do not review the day as a list
- 27:49of accusations. Review it as evidence of states.
- 27:53Where did the old state speak? Where did the new state appear?
- 27:56Then choose the doorway for rest.
- 27:59A small revision can support this.
- 28:01Choose one moment from the day when an old I am sentence took
- 28:05over. Do not replay the whole event.
- 28:08Find the instant of identity. The shoulders dropped, the face
- 28:12tightened. The thought said, there it is
- 28:14again. Now revise that instant.
- 28:17See the same event, but let the listener remain in the chosen
- 28:21state. The shoulders stay open, the
- 28:24breath remains available. The inner sentence changes.
- 28:28The outer event may be the same, the inner doorway is different.
- 28:32This is how I am connects with revision without becoming a
- 28:35source. Reading or lecture imitation,
- 28:38revision changes the identity attached to a remembered moment.
- 28:43I AM selects the identity that will meet the next moment.
- 28:47Together they create continuity. The listener stops saying I am
- 28:51the person this always happens to and starts practicing.
- 28:55I am the person who can meet this from a new state.
- 28:59That shift may sound quiet, but quiet shifts repeated faithfully
- 29:03become a new in a climate the listener should not use I am as
- 29:07a weapon against against themselves.
- 29:09If an old sentence appears, the response is not shame.
- 29:13Shame only creates another unwanted identity.
- 29:17I am failing at the practice. Instead, notice and return.
- 29:21The moment of noticing is already a doorway.
- 29:24The old sentence came into awareness.
- 29:27That means it is no longer completely hidden.
- 29:30Awareness gives choice a place to stand.
- 29:32The practice is not perfection, it is recovery.
- 29:36Some states will feel more natural than others because they
- 29:39have been rehearsed longer. If scarcity has been practiced
- 29:43for years, sufficiency may feel unfamiliar at first.
- 29:47If rejection has been practiced through many relationships,
- 29:50chosen calm may feel too quiet to trust.
- 29:54Do not mistake unfamiliarity for falsehood.
- 29:57A new state often feels strange before it feels natural.
- 30:01The listener is not trying to fake a life.
- 30:04They are giving the inner self a new normal to practice.
- 30:07A useful phrase is make the state small enough to enter.
- 30:11Today. If I am completely transformed,
- 30:13feels too large, choose I am willing to move from a steadier
- 30:17self for the next 10 minutes. If I am fearless, feels
- 30:21impossible, choose I am safe enough to breathe and take the
- 30:25next step. If I am perfectly loved, feels
- 30:27distant, choose I am not abandoning myself while love
- 30:31rearranges my life. These smaller doorways are not
- 30:35compromises, they are entrances. The practice becomes especially
- 30:39strong when paired with attention.
- 30:42Attention is the servant of the state.
- 30:44From I am unwanted, attention searches for absence.
- 30:48From I am secure, Attention notices steadiness, warmth, and
- 30:52options. From I am behind, attention sees
- 30:56only pressure. From I am orderly.
- 30:58Attention sees sequence. The listener does not need to
- 31:01force the whole world to change before attention can be trained.
- 31:06They can begin by asking what the chosen state would naturally
- 31:09notice. Next there is one final self
- 31:12ordered question. What identity am I protecting by
- 31:16keeping this old sentence? The old I am sentence is
- 31:19painful, but it protects the listener from risk.
- 31:23I am not ready, protects against being seen.
- 31:26I am unlucky, protects against trying again.
- 31:29I am too much, protects against honest intimacy.
- 31:32I am alone, protects against asking for support.
- 31:36Seeing this protection with compassion helps the listener
- 31:39release it. The old state was trying to keep
- 31:42life predictable. The new state teaches life to
- 31:45become possible. When the listener understands
- 31:48this, I am practice becomes less about repeating words and more
- 31:52about inhabiting A doorway. The sentence, the posture, the
- 31:56question, the action, the revision, and the bedtime scene
- 32:00begin to agree that agreement is the work.
- 32:04It does not need to be loud. It does not need to impress
- 32:08anyone. It simply needs to be lived with
- 32:10enough consistency that the old doorway is no longer the easiest
- 32:15one to enter. The closing loop is simple. 2
- 32:18words. Open the door.
- 32:20The listener has been using them all along.
- 32:22I am behind, I am unwanted, I am unsafe, or I am present.
- 32:27I am chosen, calm. I am learning stable provision.
- 32:31I am entering the desired state now.
- 32:33The words are not empty when they are joined to posture,
- 32:36attention, imagination and action.
- 32:39Tonight do not fight the whole world.
- 32:42Stand at the doorway, choose the state.
- 32:44Enter it gently. Turn to this lesson until you
- 32:48can test it in imagination and prove it in experience.
