Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Four Figure Discount, where this week my former
- 0:03Speaker 1: co-host Mitch and I go all the way back to
- 0:05Speaker 1: revisit an underrated episode from Season 3. It is Lisa's Pony.
- 0:09Speaker 1: So basically, each month Mitch and I now review a
- 0:13Speaker 1: Season 11 episode, continuing where we left off when Mitch
- 0:16Speaker 1: left the show back in 2020, as well as revisit
- 0:19Speaker 1: a classic from the Golden Era. Why are we doing this? Well,
- 0:23Speaker 1: we thought it'd be a fun experiment just to see
- 0:25Speaker 1: how we view these classic episodes now through the lens
- 0:27Speaker 1: of both being parents. Since we both have daughters who
- 0:30Speaker 1: we love to spoil relentlessly, Mitch thought it'd be a
- 0:32Speaker 1: fun idea to revisit Lisa's pony and compare our parenting
- 0:36Speaker 1: abilities to that of Homer. Now, today you're going to
- 0:39Speaker 1: get the first hour here for free, but if you
- 0:41Speaker 1: want the full review completely ad-free, you've just got to
- 0:44Speaker 1: be a part of the Four Finger Discount family on Patreon.
- 0:47Speaker 1: On there, there's over 150 hours of bonus podcasts, including
- 0:51Speaker 1: all the episodes with Mitch, as well as every episode
- 0:53Speaker 1: of Tales of Futurama, Speaking of the Hill, Bob's Pods,
- 0:57Speaker 1: Talking Seinfeld, The One About Friends, and more. Plus, you
- 1:00Speaker 1: also get this show and going down to South Park
- 1:02Speaker 1: early and ad-free. So go ahead, show your support for
- 1:05Speaker 1: four-figure discount by becoming a patron. But for now, sit
- 1:08Speaker 1: back and enjoy our revisit of Lisa's Pony.
- 1:12Speaker 2: She likes a little carrot after her oats. And she
- 1:15Speaker 2: really likes it when you scratch her behind the ear.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And if you're playing the radio... She likes contemporary adult
- 1:21Speaker 2: in the morning and easy listening at night. Please take
- 1:24Speaker 2: good care of my princess. Although there is no change
- 1:27Speaker 2: in my patrician facade, I can assure you my heart
- 1:31Speaker 2: is breaking. I'll never forget you. Four-finger discount, dude.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Welcome to Four Finger Discount, where this week we're going
- 1:55Speaker 1: all the way back to Season 3 to revisit Lisa's Pony.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I am Dando, joined right now by... Mitch. Mitch is back,
- 2:02Speaker 1: once again. We've reviewed this one back on.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I feel like my name has enough pizzazz. Mitch. Yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 2: Dando goes up. Mitch is just.
- 2:11Speaker 1: are you Mitchell.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I am technically Mitchell but it ends with static Mitch
- 2:15Speaker 2: like Mitch.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Mitch it's not showbiz we used to have the argument
- 2:21Speaker 1: is it Dando and Mitch or Mitch and Dando and
- 2:23Speaker 1: you always swore Dando and Mitch was better.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Mitch and Dando ends better but I do think that
- 2:27Speaker 2: the D of Dando grabs your attention straight away Mitch
- 2:30Speaker 2: and Dando Dando and Mitch whereas Mitch eases into it
- 2:33Speaker 2: like Mitch yeah true so my name begins indecisively and
- 2:37Speaker 2: it ends like your speakers are broken We'll be glad
- 2:40Speaker 2: you're back.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good to be here.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Besides the name. Listeners, write in. Suggest a stage name
- 2:46Speaker 2: for me.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yes, mailbag at fourfingerdiscount.com.au. Let us know what you think
- 2:50Speaker 1: of the name Mitch.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, I don't need to get your
- 2:53Speaker 2: personal feedback on it. I've made my own choices. But
- 2:56Speaker 2: what do you suggest for me?
- 2:57Speaker 1: For your name? Do you really want to know?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Rocco. Rocco? Yeah. Jock. Something Italian.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Something Italian.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Cesar? Giovanni? Cesar.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I feel like you could pull off a Cesar. If
- 3:10Speaker 1: you said your name was Cesar, I'd buy it. Cesar.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Specifically pronounce it. Cesar.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Cesar. Cesar. Cesar. Yeah, because it's Cesar Milan, isn't it?
- 3:18Speaker 2: What about Cicero? Could I be a Cicero?
- 3:20Speaker 1: Is that a first or last name?
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's a first name.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Cicero, maybe.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Figaro? Figaro?
- 3:26Speaker 1: You're going to throw names out there now?
- 3:27Speaker 2: I am now. I've asked you to write in, but
- 3:29Speaker 2: I'll do your job for you.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But we're here to revisit Lisa's Pony because what we're
- 3:33Speaker 1: going to be doing now each and every month on
- 3:35Speaker 1: our exclusive for the Patreon channel. So you're hearing this
- 3:37Speaker 1: on the free feed, but you're not going to be
- 3:38Speaker 1: getting the full review. You get the full review of
- 3:40Speaker 1: today's episode, you're going to be a subscriber of ours
- 3:42Speaker 1: on Patreon. We're going to be doing a season 11
- 3:44Speaker 1: episode where we are continuing on where we stopped back
- 3:47Speaker 1: in 2020. And we're also going to go back and
- 3:49Speaker 1: revisit a classic now that we're both dads and see,
- 3:51Speaker 1: we view it through a different lens. And you chose
- 3:54Speaker 1: Lisa's Pony. Why did you choose Lisa's Pony?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Well, because I'm a girl dad and I have this
- 4:01Speaker 2: sickening amount of love for my daughter that is in,
- 4:05Speaker 2: I've been described as wholesome dad by a few people
- 4:08Speaker 2: at work. So it's, I was thinking about, I think
- 4:12Speaker 2: I very much wanted to do a Lisa episode when
- 4:14Speaker 2: you first said, let's do a classic one.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I was like, right.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Lock in on a Lisa episode.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'm glad you didn't choose Lisa's Substitute. I thought you
- 4:18Speaker 1: were going to choose that one. I was like, don't
- 4:19Speaker 1: choose that one.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I was trying to go something. I nearly went Lisa
- 4:22Speaker 2: the Greek. That's a good one.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Watch it recently with the kids. The kids are loving
- 4:25Speaker 1: The Simpsons now.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great episode. Yeah, that is a really,
- 4:28Speaker 2: really good one. But then- What a gaver. Then I
- 4:31Speaker 2: thought- I thought about Lisa's Pony as being one that
- 4:35Speaker 2: is- kind of it like middle of season three or
- 4:41Speaker 2: not quite middle of season three i feel like this
- 4:43Speaker 2: gets glossed over a little bit in the history it's
- 4:46Speaker 2: got a lot of really good beats it surprised me
- 4:50Speaker 2: going back to it and even to the point of
- 4:52Speaker 2: how much this can be glossed over i had kind
- 4:55Speaker 2: of not remembered the different pieces that connected together in
- 4:59Speaker 2: this episode but i you know i'm like all right
- 5:02Speaker 2: so there's really good stuff about the horse and obviously
- 5:04Speaker 2: homer and quickie mart I had forgotten about the talent
- 5:07Speaker 2: show at the beginning, which is a really solid opening.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But the first thing that I think I'll talk about
- 5:15Speaker 2: as a theme for the episode that's interesting is in
- 5:17Speaker 2: my head, four years of raising a girl, four years
- 5:22Speaker 2: of being in that state of mind of like, I
- 5:25Speaker 2: really struggled to say no to her. I love her
- 5:27Speaker 2: and she's our only kid, so we can spoil her.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And I just want her to have all of the things.
- 5:31Speaker 2: In my head, this was a really noble Homer story.
- 5:36Speaker 2: parenting had tinted my memory of the episode, I think.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Because then when I went back and rewatched it, I
- 5:40Speaker 2: was like, oh no, it was Homer's a deadbeat dad
- 5:43Speaker 2: and he's taking a shortcut to victory.
- 5:46Speaker 1: That is one way of looking at it, yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And he does genuinely commit to it, but it was
- 5:51Speaker 2: such a... I don't want to say cheap, but it
- 5:53Speaker 2: wasn't the way I had remembered it. It wasn't like
- 5:57Speaker 2: this super loving theme. I think it ends there.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think deadbeat's a bit harsh.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Well... I say this with two beers in front of me,
- 6:06Speaker 2: but it was interesting as well to jump back into
- 6:08Speaker 2: it to go, I'd also kind of forgotten how much
- 6:12Speaker 2: alcoholism played a part in the Homer character early. Early, yeah. Yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 2: and I almost wanted to go back and re-watch and
- 6:19Speaker 2: be like, when did that change? When did they drop that?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Because as it went on, it's less of a thing. Well,
- 6:24Speaker 2: he became.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I think there's a vibe of realism with the alcoholism
- 6:31Speaker 1: with Homer, right? And I think the more the show
- 6:33Speaker 1: became cartoony... the less they relied on the fact that
- 6:36Speaker 1: he drinks alcohol for him doing stupid shit. It was
- 6:40Speaker 1: just he's doing stupid shit because he's Homer Simpson.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Because he's dumb, yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Because he's an idiot, as opposed to, oh, he can't
- 6:44Speaker 1: say no to a beer.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Now it's, no, he's just doing selfish shit because that's
- 6:48Speaker 1: what Homer Simpson does in season 14.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah. There is a groundedness about it, though, and there's
- 6:53Speaker 2: like a pathos that comes of it. I think it's
- 6:55Speaker 2: part of what made the show so fantastic to so
- 6:59Speaker 2: many people, that it was- early yes exaggerated it's cartoon
- 7:02Speaker 2: but you saw so much of your own friends your
- 7:06Speaker 2: own family or whatever it might be in in the
- 7:08Speaker 2: characters on the show so that was another thing that
- 7:11Speaker 2: i had kind of forgotten about when i was diving
- 7:12Speaker 2: back in like oh yeah right that's not that's not
- 7:15Speaker 2: like i just said yes to this crazy thing to
- 7:18Speaker 2: make my daughter happy it's i'm a drunk and i've
- 7:20Speaker 2: ruined her talent show so i'm going to now ruin
- 7:23Speaker 2: our budget and potentially my relationship with my wife God
- 7:28Speaker 2: bless Marge in this episode. She's really hanging on strong.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's also paying the price himself, though, because if he
- 7:37Speaker 1: just gave up the beer, he wouldn't have to work
- 7:39Speaker 1: the second job.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Obviously, he's going to be earning more money working the
- 7:42Speaker 1: second job.
- 7:42Speaker 2: No, we won't be doing that.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we won't be doing that. And I think they
- 7:44Speaker 1: just wrote that in there as a way because people
- 7:46Speaker 1: at home, if you're going to really critique it, say,
- 7:49Speaker 1: why doesn't he just give up the beer? Why doesn't
- 7:50Speaker 1: the family just give up a few things? And it's like, no,
- 7:52Speaker 1: we're not doing that.
- 7:52Speaker 2: There's a few moments, even when he chooses to get
- 7:56Speaker 2: the beer, there's a few moments where they do go,
- 7:59Speaker 2: they ask the obvious question that the viewer would ask
- 8:02Speaker 2: and then answer it. Like, Homer, why don't you just
- 8:03Speaker 2: go there first? Hey, I don't tell you how to
- 8:05Speaker 2: do your job. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Going back to, he said he ruined the talent show.
- 8:09Speaker 1: He did. And yes, he did, right?
- 8:13Speaker 2: If he didn't, in the grand scheme of things.
- 8:15Speaker 1: If he didn't go to Moe's, he would have got
- 8:18Speaker 1: there in time. He went to Moe's. He actually timed
- 8:22Speaker 1: it perfectly. Like he was, the guy closed early. Homer
- 8:26Speaker 1: wasn't to know the guy, he shouldn't have gone to Moe's.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I completely agree.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Probably shouldn't have wasted the five minutes. Exactly.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Shouldn't have gone to Moe's. He still got what was needed.
- 8:34Speaker 1: In saying that, though, where was Marge? Where was Flanders?
- 8:38Speaker 2: Like, it wasn't... Lisa's the one that forgot the read.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I have a question. Where were they? She said that
- 8:43Speaker 2: she tried calling them, but couldn't get on them. What
- 8:45Speaker 2: would Marge have been doing?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Not that it's Marge, but Lisa's the one who forgot it.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Did she forget it or did it break? I thought
- 8:51Speaker 2: it was... Oh, did it break, did it? Okay.
- 8:52Speaker 1: But it's... Homer's at work. He gets a call from...
- 8:55Speaker 1: It's not specifically his fault that she didn't have it. Yes,
- 8:59Speaker 1: he did the wrong thing, but you can't entirely blame
- 9:03Speaker 1: Homer for the fact that she didn't have a read
- 9:04Speaker 1: at the talent show.
- 9:06Speaker 2: You can't entirely blame her. No. I do think something
- 9:10Speaker 2: that I, again, have learned with a kid in the house, though,
- 9:14Speaker 2: it's pretty hard to ask a child to see the
- 9:16Speaker 2: world through the eyes of anything other than that child. Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 2: And I assume that at eight, that that still holds true. Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I do like, though, that in this... The story for
- 9:27Speaker 1: me is that as parents, we make sacrifices. And we
- 9:31Speaker 1: make sacrifices for our kids that our kids are unaware of.
- 9:35Speaker 1: And there's a reason they shouldn't be aware of it
- 9:37Speaker 1: because they didn't ask to be made. We made these kids.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And it's part of our job to provide them with
- 9:43Speaker 1: what they need. And we should never throw it back
- 9:45Speaker 1: in their face. And I just like the fact that, yes,
- 9:47Speaker 1: he could have just given up beer. And he probably
- 9:49Speaker 1: could have. And yes, it was a shortcut to get
- 9:51Speaker 1: the pony to earn her love back or whatever, right?
- 9:53Speaker 1: But he still worked this second job and never once
- 9:56Speaker 1: threw it back in Lisa's face or felt any angst
- 9:59Speaker 1: or anger towards her. her because he knew it was
- 10:02Speaker 1: his job to provide for her. And he kept this
- 10:06Speaker 1: from her because he didn't want her to feel guilty
- 10:08Speaker 1: that she has this pony and he has to work
- 10:11Speaker 1: two jobs as a result. So there is that element
- 10:12Speaker 1: there of at least he was selfless in that regard
- 10:15Speaker 1: where he was willing to work two jobs to keep
- 10:16Speaker 1: her happy and never once threw it in her face.
- 10:19Speaker 1: It was actually Marge who told her. They play it
- 10:22Speaker 1: off for joke.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Whether they're playing it off for comedy, though, I think
- 10:25Speaker 2: there's probably a truth in what you're saying. But he's
- 10:27Speaker 2: also that he didn't want to tell them because he
- 10:29Speaker 2: was embarrassed to say that he was working at the
- 10:30Speaker 2: Quickie Mart.
- 10:31Speaker 1: You reckon it was that?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Marge, I did something I'm not proud of and I
- 10:34Speaker 2: don't want the kids to hear about it.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Was that the second joke? Was he announcing the second joke?
- 10:38Speaker 2: That's when he comes home from the first shift. Oh,
- 10:39Speaker 2: my God, you killed him. That's such a.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I hope Marge.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Busted!
- 10:48Speaker 1: But there was a lot to like in this episode.
- 10:49Speaker 1: There was lots of parodies and whatnot. I think the
- 10:52Speaker 1: Godfather one, that was one that went over my head
- 10:53Speaker 1: as a kid. I never saw the Godfather until I
- 10:55Speaker 1: was older.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that confused the fuck out of me the first
- 10:57Speaker 2: however many times I watched this episode. Why is the
- 10:58Speaker 2: horse in a bed? Why does it look so terrifying?
- 11:02Speaker 2: Why is it just chilling?
- 11:03Speaker 1: It's just like, hey, I'm in your bed. It's also
- 11:06Speaker 1: a good Lisa story as well. And I'll spoil one
- 11:08Speaker 1: of my favorite moments, but I love when she's like,
- 11:10Speaker 1: oh man, all these years of lobbying to be treated
- 11:12Speaker 1: like an adult have finally blown up in my face.
- 11:13Speaker 1: That's when she has to make the decision. So she also.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Grows in that regard and realizes that, you know, parents
- 11:22Speaker 1: make sacrifices for us. Yes, I want to be happy.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yes, I want a pony.
- 11:25Speaker 1: But you know what's more important than a pony is
- 11:28Speaker 1: a father's love.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And not that he didn't love her, but it's like,
- 11:31Speaker 1: I need to, there's more, yes, we say he fucked
- 11:36Speaker 1: up the talent show. He didn't really fuck up the
- 11:37Speaker 1: talent show. He played a part in it, but you
- 11:40Speaker 1: need to move on. Like you and I, both of
- 11:42Speaker 1: our teams lost in the finals. You need to quicken
- 11:44Speaker 1: in AFL finals recently. You can be angry, you can
- 11:46Speaker 1: be sad, but it's like at the end of the day,
- 11:48Speaker 1: It's just a footy game. And then this is just
- 11:49Speaker 1: a talent show.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Move on.
- 11:50Speaker 1: There's more important things.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah. But we said that with age and experience. And
- 11:55Speaker 2: we would not have been able to do that when
- 11:56Speaker 2: we were younger as quickly or as easily.
- 11:58Speaker 1: No, that is true. What's something that your parents did
- 12:00Speaker 1: when you were eight that you could not forgive them
- 12:02Speaker 1: for for a while?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Divorce. Or remarrying.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Either of those two things.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I don't think there was anything smaller than that. um
- 12:18Speaker 2: i'm trying to think i reckon there was a time
- 12:22Speaker 2: actually you know what it would have been would have
- 12:24Speaker 2: been things like not being believed as a kid when
- 12:28Speaker 2: you knew you were telling the truth yeah uh because
- 12:31Speaker 2: like obviously you lie from time to time as a
- 12:33Speaker 2: kid it's actually fuck it's frightening how quickly kids learn
- 12:35Speaker 2: to lie it says a lot about who we are
- 12:38Speaker 2: but the i do remember times of um like it
- 12:43Speaker 2: if i remember what it would have been about but
- 12:44Speaker 2: me telling my dad like no this is what happened
- 12:47Speaker 2: like this is what i did and he'd be like
- 12:49Speaker 2: no you're a liar i'm like like that wounded me
- 12:52Speaker 2: in a way that i was like even at i
- 12:54Speaker 2: don't know eight nine ten whatever age i would have
- 12:58Speaker 2: been it was this i wouldn't have been able to
- 13:02Speaker 2: articulate it like that then but i look back at
- 13:04Speaker 2: it now being like That was one of those first
- 13:06Speaker 2: fundamental moments of like, our relationship just changed in a
- 13:09Speaker 2: way that is never going to be repaired from. Yeah, really?
- 13:12Speaker 2: Not that it's a broken thing, but it's just like, right,
- 13:15Speaker 2: that is a new, in parlance of today, core memory.
- 13:19Speaker 2: It was like, you've just put a chink in that
- 13:21Speaker 2: armor now that is never going to be able to
- 13:22Speaker 2: be buffed out because you didn't trust me when I
- 13:24Speaker 2: needed you to. Yeah. So that would be something that
- 13:27Speaker 2: I think I would have gotten really indignant about.
- 13:28Speaker 1: What's the problem though? I try to explain to my
- 13:31Speaker 1: kids that, Because sometimes they pretend like they're hurt and
- 13:34Speaker 1: stuff like that. And I try and say to them,
- 13:36Speaker 1: if you keep telling fibs, when you do need me
- 13:40Speaker 1: to believe you, I'm not going to. And they still
- 13:43Speaker 1: tell fibs. It's hard to sort of just teach them
- 13:46Speaker 1: that you've got to be honest.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Has Lex ever, has she fibbed yet?
- 13:51Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah?
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Massively. Is it fibbed?
- 13:54Speaker 1: It's because there's different kinds of lies. There's lies because
- 13:57Speaker 1: they don't want to get in trouble. There's lies because
- 13:58Speaker 1: they want to get what they want. They're the worst ones.
- 14:01Speaker 1: When they tell an absolute bullshit, they just manipulate. It's
- 14:03Speaker 1: more manipulation as opposed to, I'm just not going to
- 14:06Speaker 1: tell the full truth because I don't want the repercussions
- 14:08Speaker 1: of something I've done wrong.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 1: As opposed to, I want that, so I'm going to
- 14:11Speaker 1: lie to get it.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So, she threw her first proper sickie the other day,
- 14:17Speaker 2: which was a good bit of lying. If I'm being
- 14:19Speaker 2: perfectly honest, she told me all of the symptoms. She's like,
- 14:23Speaker 2: I've got a sore throat and I feel warm and
- 14:25Speaker 2: my nose is blocked. And I mean, to a degree,
- 14:28Speaker 2: it was true. We've all been sick over the weekend. But,
- 14:30Speaker 2: she was also just bouncing off the walls for the
- 14:32Speaker 2: rest of the day. Like she was happy as anything
- 14:34Speaker 2: to have been home with us. And I think I
- 14:37Speaker 2: might've spoken about this already, but there was a moment
- 14:40Speaker 2: where she realized that she was about to walk into
- 14:45Speaker 2: a lie. So she didn't so much lie, but she
- 14:47Speaker 2: realized that she was about to have to, and she
- 14:48Speaker 2: just froze on the spot. So she'd found like two
- 14:52Speaker 2: bucks or something. At home? Yeah, at home. I had
- 14:56Speaker 2: some loose change sitting on my bedside table. And she
- 14:59Speaker 2: was playing in our bedroom. I was in the lounge room.
- 15:01Speaker 2: She came out. She's like, Dad, I have some money.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Where'd you get that from, Lex?
- 15:10Speaker 3: And then like, I know that's a visual, but if
- 15:12Speaker 3: anyone's watching this, she just looked into the distance.
- 15:15Speaker 2: She's just like, oh, fuck, oh, fuck, oh, fuck, oh, fuck, oh, fuck.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I don't know what to do.
- 15:20Speaker 3: She just refused to answer it and then walked out
- 15:23Speaker 3: of the room.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Back through a hedge.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I was like, that's, you know, I consider that a
- 15:30Speaker 2: form of lying. Funny as hell. There is part of
- 15:33Speaker 2: me where I'm like, I mean, you have to learn.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Everyone lies. She's going to have to learn how to lie.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I just hope that it's about funny stuff instead of it. Obviously,
- 15:40Speaker 2: there'll come a time where it's like, ah, it's a serious,
- 15:43Speaker 2: we need to have a sit down and address a
- 15:45Speaker 2: problem lie.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Wait till you get the whole.
- 15:47Speaker 2: That's a long way off.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You know, she's asked Ash for something. Ash is like, no,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you're not having it.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Oh, but dad said? No, no, not even that.
- 15:54Speaker 1: It's just going to you without acknowledging that she's already
- 15:57Speaker 1: asked mom and going, hey, dad, can I do that?
- 15:59Speaker 1: What did your mom say? When you say that, he's like, oh,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I don't know. Mom, I haven't said no in weeks.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Who?
- 16:07Speaker 1: But has she done that yet? Well, she's gone to someone.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Gone to you, you've said no, and she's gone to
- 16:11Speaker 1: Ash just to see what the other one says without
- 16:13Speaker 1: saying dad said yes.
- 16:15Speaker 2: No, she hasn't. Yeah, they're the good ones.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 2: She has played us off with the- ask me for
- 16:22Speaker 2: an icy pole. And then like, mom, dad says I
- 16:24Speaker 2: can have an icy pole. So like that, that's halfway there,
- 16:28Speaker 2: but she hasn't, she hasn't completely admitted what I've said yet.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And she, has she gone, has she just said no
- 16:32Speaker 1: to you yet?
- 16:34Speaker 2: Oh, fuck. Yeah. Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 2: She runs the house.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Oh, kids. Anyway, you've only got one of them, so
- 16:43Speaker 1: that's all right.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 1: The good thing about having two is that you can,
- 16:47Speaker 1: go and do something and lead them together because it's
- 16:48Speaker 1: like well if one's hurt the other one will come
- 16:50Speaker 1: and tell me at.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Least yeah yeah we're trying it's like because we're in
- 16:56Speaker 2: our late 30s and had children late we've taught her
- 16:58Speaker 2: zero zero zero so if either of us has a
- 17:01Speaker 2: fall it's on lex to get us out of.
- 17:03Speaker 1: The house does she know how to unlock your phone
- 17:05Speaker 1: have you shown.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Her that no um mostly because well i've.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Shown the kids i feel like that's a dangerous world
- 17:11Speaker 1: yeah i did teach her how to To get up
- 17:14Speaker 1: the emergency number. So if she needs to dial- Can
- 17:16Speaker 1: you do it without unlocking?
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:18Speaker 2: You can dial triple zero, I think, on anyone's phone
- 17:20Speaker 2: without unlocking.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Ah, there you go.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Hey, my favorite.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But Lisa's Pony, did you have any favorite moments?
- 17:27Speaker 2: So I've always really liked the interactions between Homer and
- 17:32Speaker 2: the Pony Lady, for want of a better word. Like,
- 17:35Speaker 2: the one there is half a million dollars. You take
- 17:39Speaker 2: a check. Is there any place where the lost ponies
- 17:42Speaker 2: run away? No. But I think on the rewatch, the
- 17:47Speaker 2: bit that made me laugh the most was Pet Store Guy. Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 1: It's just Wiseguy, isn't it?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yeah. What is that stink? Oh, it's you. This is
- 17:55Speaker 2: the thing, though.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I don't think it needed the, oh, it's you.
- 17:57Speaker 2: It's like, what's that stink?
- 17:59Speaker 1: And then just have Homer arrive?
- 18:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that would have worked. And maybe just the sheer
- 18:03Speaker 2: brutality of Homer getting smashed in the head by the
- 18:06Speaker 2: sliding doors.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's sort of an iconic visual, isn't it? Yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I think there's a few clip shows and things like that. Yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: it comes up when they talk about the... Repeated blunt
- 18:14Speaker 1: trauma to the head. We actually haven't touched on the
- 18:17Speaker 1: Homer B-plot of working at the Quickie Mart. We haven't
- 18:19Speaker 1: really dove into it. What are your thoughts on it?
- 18:20Speaker 1: I think this is a pretty memorable B-plot.
- 18:22Speaker 2: It is a memorable bit.
- 18:23Speaker 1: It's a memorable finale, isn't it? And closing sequence.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I mean, you get some really, really good jokes about
- 18:28Speaker 2: convenience stores in there, the hot dogs, the go change
- 18:31Speaker 2: the expiration dates on the dairy products.
- 18:33Speaker 1: All that sort of stuff.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah. What was it? The illustrious and the high-profile. Midnight
- 18:41Speaker 2: to 8 a.m. shift. The young man who you replaced
- 18:43Speaker 2: is rolling over in his grave. Too much. Apu not
- 18:48Speaker 2: being able to sleep at like 3 in the morning
- 18:50Speaker 2: or something like that. You've got Princess Kashmir at home, mate. Yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 2: I know. What a bachelor. Yeah. That was another one.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I was like, oh, Bachelor Apu. What a world.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It's also like that closing visual is perfect for memes,
- 19:00Speaker 1: isn't it? Like when someone's retiring or whatever, it's like,
- 19:03Speaker 1: He was shit. When Labashain retires, it was like, he
- 19:06Speaker 1: bowled pies. I think I did it for Kawaja.
- 19:09Speaker 2: You did, yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 1: We need to start that cricket podcast, by the way,
- 19:14Speaker 1: because Labashain getting named in that South African team is
- 19:17Speaker 1: a podcast in itself.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I mean, it's not a great title, but sure, we
- 19:23Speaker 2: can work something up.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Some of my favorite moments. So I really enjoyed this
- 19:28Speaker 1: because I have vivid memories of having this kind of vibe.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Staying up late and seeing like a cast and whatever.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So the kids are watching cast and Billy Vanilli is
- 19:38Speaker 1: impersonating a McNugget. Heyo. Well, it's still fun to be
- 19:41Speaker 1: up late because they have no idea what he's talking about.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But it's just the idea of, I remember watching Conan
- 19:46Speaker 1: and not really getting Conan's gag. And I'm like, I
- 19:49Speaker 1: don't know what's happening. here, but it's 1130 and I'm awake.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And mum's sitting next to me on the couch and
- 19:53Speaker 1: she's not telling me to go to bed. I'm like,
- 19:54Speaker 1: this is cool.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah. I think I loved Letterman for the same reason.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Like early, it was just a case of like, this
- 20:02Speaker 2: is what adults do. This is fun. And then when
- 20:04Speaker 2: I was in year seven, I had a, I've had
- 20:07Speaker 2: another friend who liked Letterman, so that was kind of
- 20:10Speaker 2: a fucking weird vibe thing that we had going on
- 20:13Speaker 2: at lunchtime, just talking about what happened.
- 20:14Speaker 1: At Letterman the night before through half-open eyes. And then
- 20:17Speaker 1: you start to get it, and you're like, oh, I
- 20:19Speaker 1: actually am growing up now.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of cool. There's a beautiful album that
- 20:28Speaker 2: you can get on Bandcamp called Stories for this- Sorry,
- 20:31Speaker 2: did you say Bandcamp?
- 20:32Speaker 1: Bandcamp.
- 20:32Speaker 2: It still exists. Yeah.
- 20:34Speaker 1: What was that other one that started with S? Sound... SoundCloud?
- 20:38Speaker 2: SoundCloud. Yeah, that's still around.
- 20:40Speaker 1: That's where podcasts used to live, SoundCloud.
- 20:42Speaker 2: It's still around. Yeah. Really? Yeah. Anyway, Stories from the
- 20:46Speaker 2: Starlit Sky by Gavin Osborne and Daniel Kitson, which was three...
- 20:50Speaker 2: Your man. My man, Daniel Kitson. Three one-hour shows that
- 20:53Speaker 2: they did. I think the original conceit was they performed
- 20:57Speaker 2: them at midnight, three nights in a row, and then
- 21:00Speaker 2: they brought it out to Melbourne. A stand-up show?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Not stand-up, it was more story, like literally story. So
- 21:06Speaker 2: Daniel would read, had written three different stories, and Gavin
- 21:10Speaker 2: is a musician, and he would sing some accompanying songs
- 21:13Speaker 2: that would break up the acts of the stories. Then
- 21:18Speaker 2: they redid it and they did it as a three-hour show.
- 21:20Speaker 2: They just did them back-to-back. But they're all stories about
- 21:23Speaker 2: the magic of staying up late and trying to stay
- 21:26Speaker 2: up the whole night.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And.
- 21:30Speaker 2: this year um i'm i'm looking at some accommodation somewhere
- 21:34Speaker 2: i don't really care where but i want to get
- 21:36Speaker 2: out with lex in the middle of december to watch
- 21:39Speaker 2: the gemini media shower and like that is going to
- 21:43Speaker 2: be i'm not going to make her stay up all
- 21:45Speaker 2: night i'll let her sleep but i think that will
- 21:47Speaker 2: be that first time of like being awake at maybe
- 21:49Speaker 2: three or four in the morning with her and being
- 21:53Speaker 2: this exciting moment of a kid being you know like
- 21:57Speaker 2: you know a daughter with her dad staying up, looking
- 22:00Speaker 2: at the stars in the middle of the night is
- 22:02Speaker 2: something that I hope will be a really, really cool thing.
- 22:04Speaker 1: It actually is really exciting to them. Because I remember
- 22:06Speaker 1: last year was the first year we let the kids
- 22:08Speaker 1: stay awake for the midnight fireworks at New Year's Eve.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And it meant so much to them.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Like, it's tomorrow. Like, they could not believe it. And
- 22:15Speaker 2: I still remember that feeling as well. Those glorious times
- 22:19Speaker 2: where you get there. You know that thing of like,
- 22:22Speaker 2: you might be watching a movie or you're on the
- 22:24Speaker 2: couch or something and you look at the time and
- 22:25Speaker 2: you're like, fuck, it's 9.30. Well, you wouldn't have said
- 22:28Speaker 2: fuck because you're a kid, but you're like, It's 9.30.
- 22:29Speaker 1: They haven't said anything.
- 22:30Speaker 2: They haven't said anything. If I just stay really, really still,
- 22:33Speaker 2: maybe they won't say anything.
- 22:34Speaker 1: They think I'm in bed.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah. It's 10.30. I might just close my eyes and
- 22:38Speaker 2: pretend I'm asleep. They're about to put a second movie on. Yeah. Yes.
- 22:42Speaker 1: So, Elliot experienced that for the first time this year
- 22:44Speaker 1: with the football. So, when it's a night game, sometimes
- 22:48Speaker 1: we say, you can stay up until halftime. And it
- 22:51Speaker 1: gets to halftime and he's just like, it's time for bed, mate.
- 22:53Speaker 2: He's like, okay.
- 22:55Speaker 1: And Nick and I always usually say, If he just
- 22:57Speaker 1: goes with it and says, all right, you can stay up.
- 23:00Speaker 2: He's just like, yes! It's the greatest thing ever.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And him staying up until like 11, because I take
- 23:04Speaker 1: him to the night games and things like that. And
- 23:06Speaker 1: now he can actually do it, because he used to
- 23:07Speaker 1: be a shithead the next day. But that vibe of
- 23:11Speaker 1: staying up to halftime, we'll see if John's getting belted,
- 23:13Speaker 1: you can go to bed. Otherwise, you can stay up.
- 23:15Speaker 1: And then the sort of realization of, I'm staying up.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yes!
- 23:19Speaker 1: And to us, it's just, it's 9.30. But to him,
- 23:21Speaker 1: it's like a whole new world.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. A lot of my parent friends, 9.30 is
- 23:25Speaker 2: staying up for them. Oh, no, it is.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:27Speaker 2: To be fair.
- 23:28Speaker 1: We went out on a date night, I don't know,
- 23:29Speaker 1: about a month ago.
- 23:30Speaker 2: And we were out.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to go out and have a few drinks,
- 23:32Speaker 1: go for a dance, blah, blah, blah. It's like 10.45.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm like, I just want to go home.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We were knackered.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I don't like the look of those teenagers.

- 24:03Speaker 1: taking Elliot and Holly to a 9.30 screening of Space
- 24:06Speaker 1: Jam at Reading Cinemas on Friday night.
- 24:08Speaker 2: AM? PM. Oh, okay.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Tie in with this, yeah. Because I said it's not
- 24:13Speaker 1: till 9.30 and Holly's like, Is the sun going to
- 24:15Speaker 1: be down? I said, yeah, the sun will be down
- 24:16Speaker 1: by then. She's like, oh, I'm going to be out
- 24:18Speaker 1: when the sun's down.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Why is Space Jam on? Is it an anniversary? 20th?
- 24:22Speaker 1: 30th anniversary. 30th anniversary. We're fucking old, man.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Shit. 30th anniversary of Space Jam. It's pretty cool that
- 24:29Speaker 2: they're bringing it back, though.
- 24:31Speaker 1: They do it every week now. There's two retro films.
- 24:33Speaker 2: At Reading. That Indiana Jones one last week. How have
- 24:35Speaker 2: I missed that? Indiana Jones was last week.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's pretty cool. I don't know if you've tried to
- 24:39Speaker 1: the answer.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Jaws on one thing.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I went and saw Jaws at Reading. Every Tuesday and Friday,
- 24:42Speaker 1: they have a retro movie. There's something about Mary's on tonight,
- 24:45Speaker 1: and Friday is- Fuck, what am I doing here?
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah, check it out. Reddings, every Tuesday, they have retro,
- 24:53Speaker 2: and it's only $ 11 a ticket. Yeah, right. That's so good. Yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Shout out to Reddings.
- 24:59Speaker 2: I know. Village do it as well, but it's just Reddings,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I don't know. Village has still got a stink about it.
- 25:03Speaker 2: It's not as good as cinema. Stank. Sorry.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Stank.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah. It's one of those ones where it's like, I'm
- 25:09Speaker 2: only going there- Because it's got the kid's cinema. The
- 25:11Speaker 2: kid's cinema or- Gold class. Although, truthfully, I hate that
- 25:14Speaker 2: because the intermission, it's hard to get them to settle
- 25:16Speaker 2: back down.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I know I'm biased. My kids are fucking angels in it.
- 25:20Speaker 1: They do their thing. They come straight back. They're quiet
- 25:22Speaker 1: the whole time. And I've figured out a hack for
- 25:24Speaker 1: the kid's cinema. You know those beanbag seats down the bottom?
- 25:28Speaker 1: They look uncomfortable as shit. They look like they're too
- 25:30Speaker 1: close to the screen. Well, we sat in them for
- 25:32Speaker 1: the last two times, second or third row back.
- 25:35Speaker 2: They're a dream.
- 25:35Speaker 1: You can almost lay down in them. And the beauty
- 25:37Speaker 1: is because they only use the speakers from the front-
- 25:40Speaker 1: in the kids' cinemas because otherwise it'd be too loud, right?
- 25:43Speaker 1: So there's no chaos between you and the speakers. So
- 25:45Speaker 1: you can actually hear the speakers and you don't actually
- 25:48Speaker 1: hear the chaos that's happening behind you because A, you're
- 25:50Speaker 1: not seeing it, the kids running around, and B, it's
- 25:53Speaker 1: not blocking, it's not in between you and the actual
- 25:55Speaker 1: audio of the movie. So I actually watched the new
- 25:58Speaker 1: Port Patrol movie with the kids on yesterday.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yesterday.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And it was just like, I was just at the cinema.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I didn't even realize I was in the kids' cinema.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I turned around at one point to have a look
- 26:06Speaker 1: and it was just kids running around and standing on
- 26:08Speaker 1: the seats and.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Blah, blah, blah. A guy in Charlie Clawson doing an
- 26:11Speaker 2: episode about the new Paw Patrol movie. We'll keep an
- 26:13Speaker 2: eye out for it.
- 26:15Speaker 1: But did you have any other favorite moments from this episode?
- 26:18Speaker 2: You know what I liked, actually, now that you ask
- 26:21Speaker 2: about it, it's not a favorite moment, but it's a
- 26:22Speaker 2: favorite usage. I really liked the way they used Bart
- 26:26Speaker 2: in this episode in that it's not a Bart episode.
- 26:29Speaker 2: He's there enough. He's funny when he's there. It never
- 26:32Speaker 2: felt crowbarred in, but it was also like the confidence
- 26:36Speaker 2: to just go, we can sideline him for this one.
- 26:38Speaker 2: It's fine. And I don't think subsequent writers necessarily did
- 26:44Speaker 2: that quite as well. That Bart would be kind of
- 26:48Speaker 2: inserted in an obnoxious way and in like a, well,
- 26:51Speaker 2: we need to have him sort of way. Whereas it
- 26:53Speaker 2: was just like, you know, talent show, very funny, laughing
- 26:56Speaker 2: at Homer in the quickie mart, very funny. The little
- 26:58Speaker 2: moment you just mentioned of like just staying up late.
- 27:01Speaker 2: I can get Lisa to give the pony back. Yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Like it all feels true to character. Yeah. I don't know.
- 27:07Speaker 2: It feels like he's only got two minutes of screen time.
- 27:09Speaker 2: It might be more, but it doesn't feel like he's
- 27:12Speaker 2: in it for much, but his presence still felt really well.
- 27:15Speaker 1: It could have very easily had a Bart B plot.
- 27:18Speaker 1: You're right. Some episodes would have crammed into Bart B
- 27:20Speaker 1: plot for no reason. Him and Milhouse are fighting over
- 27:22Speaker 1: something or whatever. I actually thought when I saw him
- 27:24Speaker 1: and Grandpa doing the video game, I thought, oh, is
- 27:26Speaker 1: this the video game one?
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah. But it wasn't. It was just one scene. It
- 27:28Speaker 2: was just a random moment. I fucking... Get on.
- 27:32Speaker 1: The floor for this?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That was amazing.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Oh, I related to that.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I'll go down the floor for this.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I have... Like, Lex has got.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Lex loves, like, so many kids. Like, you know, she's
- 27:44Speaker 2: imaginative play. But she's got two or three go-to role-play games,
- 27:48Speaker 2: and she's so fucking demanding about how you play them.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Oh, she's in that phase, is she?
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 1: She's out of it now, but she went through it, yeah.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I'm a mermaid queen, and bad guys are trying to
- 27:59Speaker 2: get me, and they are sitting on my tail, and
- 28:01Speaker 2: you're Prince Superman, and you have to fly down, and
- 28:04Speaker 2: you say, get out of here, bad guys, and you
- 28:06Speaker 2: punch them, and you throw them into the sun, but
- 28:09Speaker 2: you try to lift me up, and you can't lift
- 28:11Speaker 2: me up, and then I'm still stuck in here, and
- 28:13Speaker 2: then you have to put the bad guys in jail. Excelsior!
- 28:18Speaker 2: But Superman doesn't say Excelsior. Just say it! Just say it!
- 28:22Speaker 2: And then I'll do it. And then I'll go off
- 28:23Speaker 2: script a tiny bit and be like, I'll go to
- 28:26Speaker 2: pick her up. She's like, no, no, no, you can't
- 28:27Speaker 2: pick her up. Or it's like, you can't pick me up.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Or sometimes it gets grim. I don't know if Holly
- 28:33Speaker 2: does this. Girls have got twisted imaginations.
- 28:35Speaker 1: We talk about dying a lot.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Holly went through that phase of death.
- 28:38Speaker 2: A lot of death. Yeah, death. I think one of
- 28:40Speaker 2: them was she wanted to keep recreating Moana. Moana 2,
- 28:45Speaker 2: where she swims down to... Is it Lullaby?
- 28:48Speaker 1: I recall nothing about that movie. It was in and
- 28:49Speaker 1: it was out.
- 28:50Speaker 2: She gets struck by lightning at the end of it, though,
- 28:52Speaker 2: and she gets knocked unconscious. And Maui is holding her
- 28:58Speaker 2: in his arms.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:59Speaker 2: So she'd be like, okay, can you pretend that I
- 29:01Speaker 2: got struck by lightning and I died? And then she'd
- 29:04Speaker 2: just lay there and pretend to be dead. And I'd
- 29:06Speaker 2: be like, Lex... You've got nothing for me to do
- 29:10Speaker 2: in this role play. Like, I'm just here waiting for
- 29:12Speaker 2: you to not be dead anymore.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Can we do.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I'm like, what if I do CPR? No, I'm dead.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 29:19Speaker 2: So, there is a lot of... I got down. I'm
- 29:22Speaker 2: going to be on my knees for the next 15 minutes.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Pretend weeping over your pretend corpse. Like, Lex, this hurts.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah, no. Holly did the same phase. And it's just...
- 29:33Speaker 1: You do the slightest thing different and it gets so
- 29:35Speaker 1: angry at you. You're like, why are you getting angry
- 29:37Speaker 1: at me? We're just playing games.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Yeah furious filthy we've been having a lot of like
- 29:42Speaker 2: lex you have to understand that other people are going
- 29:44Speaker 2: to want to play different games i didn't think i
- 29:47Speaker 2: would have to explain yes and to a four-year-old but
- 29:50Speaker 2: this is where we're at i'm giving you something i'm
- 29:52Speaker 2: gonna run with it i'm We're going to sit down,
- 29:58Speaker 2: we're going to watch Who's Line Is It Anyway? We're
- 29:59Speaker 2: going to learn something about how to bounce off your
- 30:01Speaker 2: scene partner.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I watched Who's Line Is It Anyway the other day
- 30:04Speaker 1: with Richard Simmons and it was amazing, hilarious.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I've seen that one. It's been a long, long time.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Did you say Colin Mochrie was on a podcast recently? Oh, yeah, okay.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Maybe that actually, that would explain it because he was
- 30:17Speaker 2: talking to a couple of Australian guys. Okay. So just
- 30:19Speaker 2: some clips that popped up on Instagram. But he was
- 30:22Speaker 2: talking about the filming of Who's Line that it was
- 30:24Speaker 2: basically like they would do an entire season over the
- 30:26Speaker 2: course of two weekends. It seemed like that must have
- 30:29Speaker 2: been the cushiest gig of all time for a while.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I can imagine them doing like, you know, six, eight
- 30:34Speaker 1: episodes in a go. Yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 2: And it also makes sense to my brain now when
- 30:37Speaker 2: I look at that show, because for a long time
- 30:40Speaker 2: I was like, fuck, these guys don't age. Because they
- 30:42Speaker 2: did five years worth of work in months. In two weeks.
- 30:46Speaker 2: That was it. That was all I got fed on.
- 30:47Speaker 1: For the next little bit. There just aren't shows like
- 30:50Speaker 1: Who's Line anymore.
- 30:52Speaker 2: No, certainly not. Thank God you here had another role,
- 30:55Speaker 2: didn't it? Did they have a little bit of a resurfacing?
- 30:57Speaker 2: It wasn't as good, though.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Like, it tried. I felt like once it changed networks,
- 31:01Speaker 2: it wasn't the same. I feel like it got more
- 31:03Speaker 2: money and it wasn't as good when it had better sets.
- 31:06Speaker 2: One of those weird ones where it.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Needs to feel indie.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to feel like anything could happen. As
- 31:10Speaker 2: soon as it's a really smooth production, it doesn't feel
- 31:14Speaker 2: like anything could happen anymore.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Next question. You there, eating the paste.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Trivia time. My first question for you is.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Oh, can I cheat and give you the same... Whenever
- 31:25Speaker 2: we first did this, I have the same questions. Oh,
- 31:27Speaker 2: do it.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be fun.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Fantastic. Bit of fun.
- 31:29Speaker 1: If you still got your original notes.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yeah. That's wild. Yeah. Wow.
- 31:34Speaker 1: For every episode?
- 31:36Speaker 2: I got like 130 of them in Evernote. That's pretty cool.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And then I think I still have a notepad floating
- 31:42Speaker 2: around somewhere from home because when we first started doing this,
- 31:44Speaker 2: I was doing it by hand.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really cool actually. My first question is, What
- 31:49Speaker 1: did the nice man catch in their basement?
- 31:52Speaker 2: A snake? Yes. Great. I do have... I'll read something
- 31:57Speaker 2: out to you when we get to the end of trivia,
- 31:58Speaker 2: which is kind of fun. What TV show was Homer
- 32:03Speaker 2: watching during Lisa's first steps? Ooh.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Is it Knight Rider?
- 32:08Speaker 2: No. No.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Suxing Hutch?
- 32:10Speaker 2: No. Ooh. I threw out there, the plane, the plane.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Oh, it's Fantasy Island.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Okay. No, that's the seagull.
- 32:17Speaker 1: My next question is, How many flavours of ice cream does...
- 32:21Speaker 1: Is it Phineas O'Butterfats?
- 32:23Speaker 2: Phineas? Is that how you say the name? Phineas?
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Phineas O'Butterfats. It says on the sign, it's so
- 32:28Speaker 1: many flavours of ice cream.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It's a lot, by the way. It's a lot. 763. Nah,
- 32:32Speaker 2: it is 4,000. Over 4,000. Jesus. That's a lot of
- 32:36Speaker 2: flavours of ice cream.
- 32:37Speaker 1: It's 4,500, actually.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Shout out, by the way, to Messina Gelato that has
- 32:40Speaker 2: opened in Geelong on the subject of ice creams. Messina.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Messina. Messina?
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Spell it. I'm pretty sure it's M-E-D-O-N-E. I went
- 32:49Speaker 2: to Messina Gelato and I ate some ice cream. I
- 32:52Speaker 2: think it's M-E-S-S-I-N-A. There's one... I think there's one in Melbourne.
- 32:55Speaker 2: There's one in Brisbane.
- 32:58Speaker 1: It's 5,600 flavours, actually.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Yeah, shh. So I wrote 4,500 and I was like,
- 33:01Speaker 2: that doesn't seem right to me. I better double check
- 33:02Speaker 2: it out.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It's 5,600. Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 2: If you're going to have fat, do you think butterfat
- 33:06Speaker 2: would be like both the most appetising and the least
- 33:09Speaker 2: appetising sounding thing at the same time?
- 33:11Speaker 1: What are the various fats?
- 33:12Speaker 2: Beef. Like tallow. You could have... I mean, you've just
- 33:19Speaker 2: got your dairy fats and that sort of stuff.
- 33:21Speaker 1: What's the best one for cooking eggs in?
- 33:24Speaker 2: Butter, by far. I'll probably use butter fat then. Yeah, yeah. Fuck,
- 33:27Speaker 2: I made an omelette this morning just like on a whim.
- 33:30Speaker 2: One of those classic like open the fridge and I
- 33:33Speaker 2: got half a capsicum. I've got a red onion that
- 33:35Speaker 2: I have no real use for and I've got eggs.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I've also got some ham. Just throw it all together. Yeah,
- 33:40Speaker 2: and just flawless.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Also, some salsa verde. Oh, yeah. He really took it
- 33:47Speaker 2: to another level. A little bit of sour cream on
- 33:48Speaker 2: the side. What's the villain called? Is it Sosa? Kaiser Sosa.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Kaiser Sosa. I was like, this reminds me of that villain.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Could have been one of his aliases. I was in
- 34:06Speaker 2: a barbershop quartet with Salsa Verde. What date did Homer
- 34:13Speaker 2: put on his check to buy the $ 500, 000 horse?
- 34:16Speaker 1: I know it was 2054.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. That's a good guess. Yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I don't think it was about 50 years ahead. Was
- 34:25Speaker 1: it July something?
- 34:27Speaker 2: No. What was it? January 1st. January 1st. Okay.
- 34:30Speaker 1: It's pretty obvious when you say it that way. My
- 34:32Speaker 1: next question for you is, name the five items on
- 34:36Speaker 1: the stable fees. She gives him a receipt.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Oh, shit. One of them was grooming.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Yep. Food.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Feed, yeah.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I think they were the only two that
- 34:46Speaker 2: I read, so let's have a guess. There would have
- 34:48Speaker 2: been something like bedding. Board. Board. Board. Yep. Oats.
- 34:54Speaker 1: No, that's food.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I feel like I'm playing Family Feud.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't realize how adult Family Feud has become.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's filthy now.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I was like, I was putting on for the kids
- 35:03Speaker 1: a little bit of a fun game show, something different.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And it was like, things you might find in a jacuzzi.
- 35:10Speaker 2: After a party. And one guy's like, a used condom, Steve.
- 35:14Speaker 1: And he's like, used condom.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Let's go upstairs. Ding.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And I'm like, it's a used condom. And I was like,
- 35:20Speaker 1: Ali's like, what's a condom? And I was like, I
- 35:21Speaker 1: think it's like a balloon. I'm just like, he's aged,
- 35:24Speaker 1: but he's like, he's still too young for me to
- 35:25Speaker 1: explain what that is. And it was like, it was
- 35:28Speaker 1: just really dirty stuff.
- 35:29Speaker 2: And I'm like, what are we doing here? Yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I feel like Steve Harvey started- Things you smell that
- 35:35Speaker 1: you shouldn't. And it was like, your girlfriend's knickers. And
- 35:37Speaker 1: I'm like, what?
- 35:38Speaker 2: What the fuck's going on?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Or your ex-girlfriend's knickers or something.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Ex-girlfriend's knickers?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Now it's a crime. It's like things you smell that
- 35:47Speaker 1: you shouldn't. I was like, why would they smell knickers?
- 35:50Speaker 1: And I'm like, we're done with this show.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Jesus. I remember it used to just be euphemisms.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Not just outright. It's just flat out now. Names of
- 35:58Speaker 1: porn films.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Places to put your penis. Anyway, back to the horse. Shoes?
- 36:07Speaker 1: No, it was trainer and lessons.
- 36:08Speaker 2: They're the other two. Oh, okay. Let's just get to
- 36:10Speaker 2: the point. Not even jokes. Not even jokes at all.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Very accurate invoice for a horse adjustment.
- 36:17Speaker 1: How much was it?
- 36:19Speaker 2: $ 530 a month. Correct, yes. Lisa wanted a pony. What
- 36:23Speaker 2: did Bart want? Hmm.
- 36:26Speaker 1: That is a good question, because he says, why does
- 36:28Speaker 1: Lisa get that and I don't? Because you love me. No,
- 36:31Speaker 1: what is it?
- 36:32Speaker 2: A moped.
- 36:32Speaker 1: A moped.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Which I could see him getting around on. A little Vespa,
- 36:35Speaker 2: like Luca. Yeah, I could.
- 36:38Speaker 1: But it also doesn't really sound like something Bart would
- 36:40Speaker 1: ask for.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I want a moped. Well, it's a mode of transport.
- 36:43Speaker 2: He's not going to want a pony. Wouldn't he want
- 36:45Speaker 2: a new skateboard of some kind? You're not really cool
- 36:49Speaker 2: if you're riding a moped around, are you, in 1991?
- 36:51Speaker 2: It's not old enough for a motorbike. Moped's in the
- 36:55Speaker 2: sweet spot.
- 36:56Speaker 1: What are the ones that have the, where you stand
- 36:58Speaker 1: on them?
- 36:59Speaker 2: Not like a bike. Segway.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Segway, that's the one. I rode those once with Nicola
- 37:04Speaker 1: and I.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Never had the pleasure. Never done it.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Nicola and I did it with her sister in the Adelaide,
- 37:08Speaker 1: in the winery in Adelaide.
- 37:09Speaker 2: And her sister ate shit.
- 37:12Speaker 1: She lost control. And gone.
- 37:16Speaker 2: They do. A moped looks like a fantastic device for that. Like,
- 37:23Speaker 2: there's no brake, right? Like it's all things. So once
- 37:25Speaker 2: you lose control on that, you're fucked. There's no coming
- 37:27Speaker 2: back from losing control on a moped. Didn't the inventor
- 37:30Speaker 2: of a moped die in a moped accident, by the way?
- 37:32Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that's the thing that happened. He went
- 37:34Speaker 2: off a cliff.
- 37:34Speaker 1: One of life's great joys, though, is seeing someone in
- 37:37Speaker 1: a situation like that, not really with a vehicle, but
- 37:39Speaker 1: I think it's when someone's about to slip and you
- 37:42Speaker 1: see them slipping and you're like, and they're trying to
- 37:44Speaker 1: stop and you know they're not going to be able to.
- 37:46Speaker 1: It's the wiggle.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Something you can't fake as well. No one's ever...
- 37:51Speaker 2: Other than Philip Seymour Hoffman, along came Polly. Yeah. The
- 37:55Speaker 2: best man is in the house. But it's really hard
- 37:58Speaker 2: to fake a slip. Like it's just such a.
- 38:01Speaker 1: It's hard to fake the mannerisms.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Inherent thing. Yeah. Yeah. The sheer fear.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Or not even fear, it's just the bewilderment of what's happening.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Because your brain hasn't had enough time to process it.
- 38:11Speaker 2: To tie it back into... So I was carrying her
- 38:14Speaker 2: sort of up on my shoulder the other day and she...
- 38:16Speaker 2: pushed against my head and she had a moment where
- 38:20Speaker 2: like she overbalanced and I managed to catch her and
- 38:22Speaker 2: correct her. And it was one of those first moments
- 38:25Speaker 2: of a kid being old enough to realize the mortal
- 38:28Speaker 2: danger they were just in. So I was holding her
- 38:30Speaker 2: over tiles. Like she was going to hit the ground
- 38:32Speaker 2: hard if she slipped and she just laughed her ass
- 38:36Speaker 2: off because her body didn't know how else to process
- 38:38Speaker 2: the fear that she just felt in that moment. It
- 38:40Speaker 2: was one of those things. You're either going to cry
- 38:42Speaker 2: or you laugh. And we just said that. I was like,
- 38:48Speaker 2: don't tell your mum. You shit your pants. Like this close, Lex.
- 38:53Speaker 2: You were like, I don't know, 500 grams center of
- 38:56Speaker 2: gravity that way.
- 38:57Speaker 1: And you were gone. Yeah. See, Holly, yeah, about two
- 39:01Speaker 1: weeks ago at school, we always play in the playground
- 39:03Speaker 1: at the school. And she was, there's like three tiers
- 39:06Speaker 1: of like where the monkey bars are. And she was
- 39:08Speaker 1: at the top and she didn't go in the monkey bars.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I'm watching, I'm like talking to my mate. I go,
- 39:12Speaker 1: she's not going to jump in there, is she? I'm like,
- 39:14Speaker 1: she's going to jump.
- 39:15Speaker 2: And before I could say, don't do a whole, she
- 39:17Speaker 2: just jumped and she's, and she landed flat on her ass.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And I was like, why did you do that?
- 39:22Speaker 2: And she's like, I don't know.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I was like.
- 39:27Speaker 2: You're not going to do that again, are you? And
- 39:28Speaker 2: she's like, no.
- 39:30Speaker 3: No.
- 39:30Speaker 2: She was like, I don't know what came over me.
- 39:33Speaker 2: It didn't seem this high. Yeah, I get it. I've
- 39:37Speaker 2: walked over bridges and looked down and thought, what would
- 39:40Speaker 2: it feel like? Yeah. I'm an adult, so I don't
- 39:42Speaker 2: do it. I'm a relatively well-functioning adult. But yeah, like,
- 39:48Speaker 2: I get it. I understand that thing of a kid
- 39:50Speaker 2: of like, that's not that far. She's going down and
- 39:55Speaker 2: watching for a while and she hit the ground.
- 39:57Speaker 1: She was as high as the roof.
- 39:59Speaker 2: She was pretty high. Do you ever wonder why so
- 40:04Speaker 2: many structures are actually really easy to jump off? Why? No, no.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I don't have an answer to this, but have you
- 40:10Speaker 2: ever been in a hotel or- Verandas or balconies. You're
- 40:14Speaker 2: on a 30-story balcony and be like, why isn't there-
- 40:18Speaker 2: lasers and barbed wire and shit to stop me going
- 40:21Speaker 2: off this why is it waist high yeah like i
- 40:25Speaker 2: remember this is a tricky visual we're staying on um
- 40:29Speaker 2: uh hamilton island up in the with sundays and i
- 40:32Speaker 2: don't know we're 10 stories up or something like that
- 40:34Speaker 2: but there was a little courtyard balcony type thing um
- 40:38Speaker 2: just outside enough room for a couple chairs and a
- 40:39Speaker 2: table and then uh our our was in like a
- 40:47Speaker 2: corner of the building. So it was sort of like
- 40:49Speaker 2: it went left and then about a 45 degree angle out.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Just you and Ash there?
- 40:54Speaker 2: Lex was with us at the time. Okay. And.
- 40:57Speaker 1: That adds a new dimension to it.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Within arm's reach, just outside the balcony on the exterior
- 41:02Speaker 2: of the building was a concrete block that would have
- 41:04Speaker 2: been half the size of this table. Well and truly
- 41:08Speaker 2: enough size, if you were so inclined, to step over
- 41:11Speaker 2: the balcony and either stand on that block or sit
- 41:14Speaker 2: on that block. And it would have been a sheer
- 41:16Speaker 2: plummet to your death if anything went wrong. But there's
- 41:20Speaker 2: this weird fucked up part, I think, of a lot
- 41:22Speaker 2: of people's brains. And as much as I didn't act
- 41:24Speaker 2: on it, I was standing there looking at it going,
- 41:27Speaker 2: I'm kind of curious. I kind of just want to
- 41:28Speaker 2: go out there and sit on it because it would
- 41:29Speaker 2: be terrifying and I would like to feel that rush
- 41:32Speaker 2: of adrenaline. And I won't because I have a one
- 41:35Speaker 2: and a half year old sleeping behind me and that
- 41:38Speaker 2: would be death. But why the fuck am I even
- 41:41Speaker 2: allowed to make the choice? Yeah, like, take that power
- 41:44Speaker 2: out of my hands. And how don't 500,000 people a
- 41:47Speaker 2: day die by falling off of high things because of
- 41:50Speaker 2: that stupid part of our animal brain?
- 41:52Speaker 1: Well, it's like we went to one. We parked on
- 41:54Speaker 1: top of Market Square, the shopping mall here.
- 41:55Speaker 2: In Geelong, right?
- 41:57Speaker 1: And the kids can just reach through the bars that
- 41:59Speaker 1: are on top.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Like, let's look at the edge. And we get to
- 42:02Speaker 2: the edge and I was like, actually, kids, take three
- 42:03Speaker 2: steps back, please. Because Holly's like putting her head through.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And I was like, why is this possible? Yeah. Crazy
- 42:10Speaker 2: simple to kill yourself in the Welsh.
- 42:11Speaker 1: We went to Sydney for Elliot's birthday and it was,
- 42:14Speaker 1: call me crazy, right? But the door to the balcony
- 42:18Speaker 1: didn't lock. And because we had two kids there, I
- 42:22Speaker 1: could not go to bed and sleep knowing that if
- 42:25Speaker 1: they got up in the morning and opened that door,
- 42:27Speaker 1: they could go over that balcony.
- 42:28Speaker 2: You would have been out searching for some dowel rod
- 42:30Speaker 2: to put.
- 42:30Speaker 1: In the tracks. So I went out on the balcony
- 42:32Speaker 1: and anything that was on the balcony, I put in
- 42:35Speaker 1: front of the door. And in the living room, I'd
- 42:38Speaker 1: drag the couch to the other side and put it
- 42:40Speaker 1: in front of the door and just basically repeat to
- 42:42Speaker 1: the kids, do not touch that door. I couldn't sleep
- 42:45Speaker 1: that night.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Paid a clown to sit out there and terrify them
- 42:47Speaker 2: back in the room.
- 42:49Speaker 1: But do you think I'm weird? Am I crazy?
- 42:52Speaker 2: No. Once you're in that moment, I think I know
- 42:55Speaker 2: that feeling of just spiraling out of control like that.
- 42:59Speaker 2: I've done that with her. You ever have that moment
- 43:01Speaker 2: of just like, I'm an nerd from Ash. What if
- 43:04Speaker 2: she's crashed?
- 43:05Speaker 1: I did that once we were in England and Nicholas said,
- 43:09Speaker 1: I'm going for a walk with mum. We'll be back
- 43:10Speaker 1: in 20 minutes. And they got back two hours later.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Both their phones, they turned both their- You're in.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Jack the Ripper country. You're well and truly right to
- 43:19Speaker 2: be afraid.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Turned both their phones off and they went out for
- 43:22Speaker 1: a coffee and just didn't tell us. Didn't answer their phones,
- 43:26Speaker 1: didn't anything. They just rocked up two hours later at
- 43:28Speaker 1: tea time. And they're like, what are you worried about?
- 43:31Speaker 2: We just went for a walk.
- 43:32Speaker 1: We knew we were fine.
- 43:33Speaker 2: I'm like, actually, I didn't.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Because I'm here with, I was only at it at
- 43:36Speaker 1: the time. I'm like, I'm here by myself in this house.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Your dad's at work. No one else is here. I'm
- 43:41Speaker 1: here with Ali, who's a baby. We're in another country.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I know you're from here, but you haven't been here
- 43:45Speaker 1: for 10 years. And you said you'd gone for a
- 43:46Speaker 1: walk with your mum and be back in 20. And
- 43:48Speaker 1: it's now two hours later.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:53Speaker 1: I think.
- 43:54Speaker 2: SIDS was another one where I would get a rational
- 43:57Speaker 2: fear like that. Like when Lex was in that peak.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Rolling around.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Yeah. So like, you know what, two months to eight,
- 44:05Speaker 2: I think it's the first year is when they're at
- 44:07Speaker 2: their highest risk from memory. Um, but I would have
- 44:10Speaker 2: moments where I'd just be like, no, I can't sleep.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I'm going to just kind of go sit in a
- 44:14Speaker 2: room when she was like a tiny, tiny kid. Once
- 44:17Speaker 2: you're in that zone, you can't get out. Yeah. I'm like, fuck.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I don't know. What if tonight's, what if something happens tonight?
- 44:22Speaker 2: I gotta just, I just have to go be there.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Just sit there listening to an audio book to keep
- 44:26Speaker 2: myself awake and make sure she was breathing.
- 44:29Speaker 1: My mentality is always like, I would rather... Because I
- 44:34Speaker 1: always get the idea of the one night I don't
- 44:36Speaker 1: do it is the one night something will happen. And
- 44:38Speaker 1: even though it's not going to happen, that's how my
- 44:40Speaker 1: brain works. This is like, the one time I don't...
- 44:43Speaker 1: The one time I relax is when something bad will happen.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 1: That's why I never relax. Do you ever watch the
- 44:47Speaker 1: first season of Fargo?
- 44:48Speaker 2: No. Oh, man. So... it's really, really good. But there's
- 44:52Speaker 2: a moment there where like one of the main characters,
- 44:54Speaker 2: dad is a retired sheriff. And when shit's going down,
- 44:57Speaker 2: there's this little moment where he's just like sitting on
- 45:01Speaker 2: a chair in the front of the house with a rifle.
- 45:03Speaker 2: And it's just that thing of like, I'm going to
- 45:06Speaker 2: sit here for the next 16 hours just to make sure.
- 45:08Speaker 2: And nothing comes of it. But it was a moment
- 45:12Speaker 2: that even before I'd had a kid, I was like,
- 45:14Speaker 2: that's badass. And I get that level of love. And
- 45:16Speaker 2: then since having a kid, I was like, yeah, a
- 45:18Speaker 2: hundred percent. That thing of like, when there is danger,
- 45:21Speaker 2: real or perceived, it's that thing like, all right, I
- 45:24Speaker 2: don't care. I'm doing this to make sure that things
- 45:26Speaker 2: are all right.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Yeah, because I would rather the next day go, oh,
- 45:29Speaker 1: that was a waste of time.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 1: But know that they're safe.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Then something happening. Anyway, back to Lisa's pony show.
- 45:36Speaker 2: If we must.
- 45:37Speaker 1: This show is brought to you by the Four Finger

- 45:59Speaker 1: we need to read out now the top three films.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Oh, sorry. Oh, sorry. This is still Lisa's Pony to
- 46:04Speaker 2: a degree. Yeah. I was talking about like my original notes.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Do you remember, I don't know if you'd still be listening,
- 46:10Speaker 2: Jason DeVicentes?
- 46:12Speaker 1: Oh, what a name. I do remember that guy, yeah.
- 46:14Speaker 2: This was a mailbag contribution from whenever the hell it
- 46:17Speaker 2: was that we reviewed this.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're going to be asking some mailbag questions?
- 46:21Speaker 2: No, it's not a question.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Because I've asked for some new ones.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Okay, fantastic. That'd be better. I was out in your
- 46:26Speaker 2: neck of the woods today, drove past the Ford factory.
- 46:28Speaker 2: My mate said, there's that factory they're closing. I said
- 46:31Speaker 2: to my mate, I know, that's where Dando works. He
- 46:33Speaker 2: said- Who's Dando?
- 46:35Speaker 3: That is one of my favorite emails that we were
- 46:38Speaker 3: ever sent.
- 46:40Speaker 1: It's weird, though, because when you listen to a podcast,
- 46:42Speaker 1: you feel like you know the person. And then you
- 46:45Speaker 1: assume that all of your friends do as well. Everyone
- 46:48Speaker 1: else does, yeah. Because we grew up in the generation
- 46:51Speaker 1: where everyone consumed the same shows, the same radio shows, everything, right?
- 46:54Speaker 1: And now it's just so selective.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I wonder if he even knows who I am anymore. Jason?
- 47:01Speaker 2: I hope so. Maybe he's still listening.
- 47:04Speaker 1: That's why I love going through the old mailbag. I'm like, oh,
- 47:06Speaker 1: these names. Like your man, Andrew Johnson.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:09Speaker 1: He's gone, but he still talks to you.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Oh, I'll let him know that I've come back. I
- 47:13Speaker 2: might be able to bring him around.
- 47:16Speaker 1: The top three films at the US box office when
- 47:17Speaker 1: this aired. Number three, Highlander 2, The Quickening.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Jesus. Number three? Yeah. That's frightening.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Debut at number three. Number two, Curly Sue.
- 47:27Speaker 2: The fuck is Curly Sue?
- 47:29Speaker 1: Sounds like a bingo.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Number two, Curly Sue. Warner Brothers film. You don't like
- 47:33Speaker 2: Curly Sue?
- 47:33Speaker 3: No.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Isn't that the one that has Belushi in it?
- 47:37Speaker 1: Does it?
- 47:38Speaker 2: I've legitimately never heard of that movie before. Curly Sue's
- 47:41Speaker 2: not Curly Sue's Curly Sue. Yeah, but Jim Belushi, yeah. Yeah, right.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Bill and Curly Sue, a nine-year-old orphan, are partners in crime.
- 47:50Speaker 1: So Bill and Curly Sue, sorry, are partners in crime.
- 47:52Speaker 1: They scam strangers and extort money to satisfy their hunger.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Things change when they meet a woman who learns about
- 47:57Speaker 1: their livelihood.
- 47:58Speaker 2: With a young Steve Carell. Yeah. Um... It's a bit
- 48:01Speaker 2: of a discrepancy here. You got 4.6 out of 5
- 48:04Speaker 2: on Amazon and 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing though. What do you trust ratings-wise
- 48:09Speaker 1: anymore online?
- 48:11Speaker 2: I still trust critics. Yeah. Like proper aggregates critics. Never
- 48:16Speaker 2: trust users. No. Heathen scum.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Drop us a five-star review on iTunes if you are
- 48:22Speaker 1: listening to that. I remember seeing this in the video
- 48:24Speaker 1: stores all the time.
- 48:24Speaker 2: They were hired.
- 48:25Speaker 1: But yeah, that's the cover I remember seeing. Her and Belushi.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. The regular odd couple.
- 48:30Speaker 1: John Hughes did it.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Okay.
- 48:32Speaker 1: From John Hughes, yeah.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Interesting. And then number one was another one, The People
- 48:35Speaker 2: Under the Stairs. Is that what I just saw? The
- 48:36Speaker 2: People Under the Stairs.
- 48:37Speaker 1: What is that?
- 48:38Speaker 2: It's a weird year for film or weird moment for film.
- 48:41Speaker 1: When a fool breaks into the home of his family's landlords,
- 48:45Speaker 1: he discovers that they have mutilated several boys and kept
- 48:48Speaker 1: them imprisoned under stairs. As fool attempts to flee- He
- 48:51Speaker 1: meets their daughter Alice. Can Fool and Alice escape?
- 48:54Speaker 2: This is the number one film in the box office.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Did it premiere at number one or was it there
- 48:58Speaker 2: from the day? Let's see what it is next week.
- 49:00Speaker 2: When are we talking November? 91. That's a horror movie, right?
- 49:04Speaker 2: So that's number one by virtue of the fact that
- 49:06Speaker 2: they've just come off Halloween. Halloween, yeah.
- 49:09Speaker 1: This is a shit ton of films. The Butcher's Wife,
- 49:12Speaker 1: The Fisher King, Frankie and Johnny, Other People's Money, House
- 49:15Speaker 1: Party 2, Little Man Tate, Billy Bathgate. There's no classics.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Not many classics there, is there?
- 49:22Speaker 2: Billy Bathgate? Is that a Dustin Hoffman movie?
- 49:24Speaker 1: 1935, a teen named Billy Bathgate finds first love while
- 49:26Speaker 1: becoming the protege of fledgling gangster Dutch Schultz. Billy Bathgate.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Let's have a look quickly.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Billy Bathgate.
- 49:32Speaker 2: I feel like maybe I'm thinking of something else. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Soon after becoming the protege of gangster... Dutch Billy Bathgate
- 49:39Speaker 2: finds himself trapped in a world of danger and death. 2.936%
- 49:42Speaker 2: Rotten Tomatoes.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:46Speaker 2: That's a shame about Dustin Hoffman. He's a really good
- 49:48Speaker 2: actor that's got some really bad movies.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I don't really hear much about him anymore.
- 49:51Speaker 2: He's very old. He's just doing his thing. He's actually
- 49:53Speaker 2: in something. I watched a trailer for this the other
- 49:57Speaker 2: day where I think he's helping someone crack safes. Okay. Yeah.
- 50:06Speaker 2: It's as much as I got for you.
- 50:07Speaker 1: By the way, for those playing at home, he is
- 50:09Speaker 1: Sam Eddick, not Dustin Hoffman.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. But it was one of those things
- 50:12Speaker 2: where I was like, oh, look at that. He's still
- 50:14Speaker 2: doing stuff.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Yeah, good for him. But yeah, they were the top
- 50:17Speaker 1: three films at the US box office. So this episode
- 50:19Speaker 1: originally aired November 7th, 1991. It says here Frank Welker
- 50:24Speaker 1: was the voice of Princess the Pony. He does the
- 50:26Speaker 1: voice of many animated animals. He's also the voice of
- 50:29Speaker 1: Fred in Scooby-Doo. Okay. He's the voice of Megatron in Transformers.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah. He is an icon in the voice acting world. Gotcha. Yeah.
- 50:38Speaker 1: The chalkboard game, Bart Bucks, a not legal tender couch game.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Homer gets on the couch first and lies down. The
- 50:43Speaker 1: rest of the family arrive and sit on him and
- 50:44Speaker 1: Homer flails his arms around.
- 50:46Speaker 2: That's always a fun game. That's always fun.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Written by Al Jean and Mike Reese and directed by
- 50:50Speaker 1: Carlos Beza.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Beza? Beza? B-A-E-Z-A? I say Beza. B-A-E-Z-A. Yeah, I'll go
- 50:57Speaker 2: with Beza. That's Beza. All right.
- 50:58Speaker 1: So it kicks off with one of these things where
- 51:00Speaker 1: I feel like they've just done it because they had
- 51:02Speaker 1: an idea and they're like, let's just cram it into
- 51:03Speaker 1: an episode somewhere. It's The Dawn of Man.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yep. 2001 parody. This was another thing where, again, I
- 51:08Speaker 2: was straight away, I was like, oh, yeah, right. When
- 51:09Speaker 2: they just had the full suite of classic cinema to parody.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:14Speaker 2: And clearly these guys love 2001. They parody it a lot.
- 51:18Speaker 2: I've never been the hugest fan of 2001. Look, I-
- 51:21Speaker 2: I can appreciate it, but- I was going to say,
- 51:23Speaker 2: I think it is for the most part, unless you are,
- 51:26Speaker 2: you know, Criterion Collection sort of guy, 2001 is a
- 51:31Speaker 2: movie to appreciate more so than to enjoy.
- 51:33Speaker 1: But it cuts to Homer when the monkey's asleep. It's
- 51:36Speaker 1: a monkey, right? It's just a monkey. A monkey's asleep.
- 51:40Speaker 2: For people that haven't seen 2001, and I imagine there
- 51:43Speaker 2: would be some out here, the whole concept that they're
- 51:45Speaker 2: parodying here is that this monolith appears and that represents
- 51:49Speaker 2: the dawn of man, but it's this thing that inspires
- 51:53Speaker 2: the generation to take the next leap.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:56Speaker 2: But in this, Homer invents being lazy. Yes. And it's
- 51:59Speaker 2: a very funny cut from that to him sleeping at
- 52:01Speaker 2: the table.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Sleeping at work in 1991.
- 52:04Speaker 2: And that's Mitch. Sorry. Can we introduce a new segment
- 52:07Speaker 2: of Mitch Splaining?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Mitch Splaining.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Maybe I can't change my name just yet. You reckon
- 52:15Speaker 2: Mitch Splaining is what you're going to stay with?
- 52:16Speaker 1: Mitch Splaining?
- 52:17Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to stay a segment.
- 52:19Speaker 1: It's already over. It never was a segment. It never
- 52:23Speaker 1: has been. It never was. We talked about the Mighty
- 52:25Speaker 1: Ducks today on our South Park podcast because the whole
- 52:28Speaker 1: episode was called Stanley's Cup.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Oh, man, that's an episode and a half.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Those poor kids just get slaughtered.
- 52:36Speaker 2: It's so good. And apparently fans... Stan Marsh is bumming
- 52:41Speaker 2: on cancer. Sorry. To be a coach, you have to grow.
- 52:51Speaker 1: He's about to realize.
- 52:53Speaker 2: The first time I ever watched that is one of
- 52:58Speaker 2: the hardest, like, cry laughs I've ever had for just
- 53:01Speaker 2: how evil it was to the kids. Well, that's the thing.
- 53:03Speaker 1: It's dead.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Just like. What?
- 53:06Speaker 1: So many fans apparently don't like it. And Trey and
- 53:08Speaker 1: Matt are like, no, no, it's a happy ending. Just
- 53:10Speaker 1: not for the people you want to be happy for.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so funny for that.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Is it the Red Wings from memory? Yeah. Detroit Red Wings.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Actually just beating the shit out of the kids.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but like still plays We're the Champions.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Mighty Ducks ending.
- 53:22Speaker 2: I'm sure one of the Red Wings. I love your dad.
- 53:24Speaker 2: I'm proud of you, son.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Which is Gordon Bombay in Hearts. You've got Charlie's mum
- 53:33Speaker 1: in there and everything.
- 53:35Speaker 2: It's just such a funny flip of that sports movie cliche. Yeah. Like, no, sorry, man.
- 53:40Speaker 2: You were just rooting for the wrong team.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Because I was like, I'm watching it going, well, how
- 53:44Speaker 1: are they going to win this?
- 53:45Speaker 2: Oh, they don't. Oh, they won't. And the kid dies
- 53:49Speaker 2: of cancer. No hope. I think South Park are the
- 53:56Speaker 2: absolute best at doing that, like, real gut punch. And one,
- 54:00Speaker 2: I think they've done this joke once or twice, but
- 54:02Speaker 2: the one where Kenny dies. Like the episode's called The
- 54:06Speaker 2: One Where Kenny Dies. Oh, where he's dying.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:09Speaker 2: And Stan can't deal with it and he can't bring
- 54:12Speaker 2: himself to see him. Then he finally works up the
- 54:13Speaker 2: courage and he gets there and Kenny's gone. And Kyle's like,
- 54:17Speaker 2: he just stopped breathing, dude. He's like, did he say
- 54:19Speaker 2: anything before he died? He just said, where's Stan? Those
- 54:29Speaker 2: guys are so good at just sticking a knife in
- 54:31Speaker 2: between the ribs.
- 54:33Speaker 1: The one before it, though, wasn't that great. It was Go, God, Go,
- 54:37Speaker 1: which is where Cartman wants to get the Nintendo Wii,
- 54:39Speaker 1: so he freezes himself and goes to the future. It
- 54:41Speaker 1: just becomes very convoluted and shippy. Yeah, Stanley's Cup, I
- 54:43Speaker 1: was like, this is what I love about South Park.
- 54:45Speaker 1: But yeah, so that's why I had the Mighty Ducks
- 54:47Speaker 1: in my mind. But then Lisa then calls Homer from
- 54:49Speaker 1: the talent show, and she says her sax is broken.
- 54:52Speaker 1: She needs a new reed, four and a half reed.
- 54:54Speaker 1: She's already called Marge Flanders, Patty and Selma, Lovejoy, and
- 54:57Speaker 1: the nice man who caught the snake in the basement.
- 54:58Speaker 1: And Homer's like, you know. And then you thought of me.
- 55:01Speaker 1: But the idea of knowing that you're not the go-to
- 55:04Speaker 1: for something is a very humbling thing. But it's also
- 55:07Speaker 1: maturing is knowing that, well, I'm just not the guy
- 55:10Speaker 1: for the job. Like, for example, I know that if
- 55:12Speaker 1: you want something built in this house, you ain't coming
- 55:14Speaker 1: to me.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 55:15Speaker 1: If you want someone who's good at... Go to Elliot.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Go to the man.
- 55:18Speaker 1: You want someone who's good at trivia? Tell you about
- 55:20Speaker 1: what movie was released in 1997? Yeah. I'm your man.
- 55:22Speaker 1: You want a floating shelf put up?
- 55:24Speaker 2: Don't ask me. Yeah, you need a flat pack? I'm
- 55:26Speaker 2: going to do a flat pack for you.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I'm going to open the box for it.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Although, I was putting together a barbecue stand the other day.
- 55:33Speaker 2: A pizza oven stand. It was... four legs, and I
- 55:38Speaker 2: put three of those four legs on backwards. And I
- 55:41Speaker 2: was flying through. I was like, man, this is so quick.
- 55:44Speaker 2: And then I got to the next bit. I was like, oh, shit.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Damn. Probably not the most humbling, but one of
- 55:50Speaker 1: the most humbling experiences of my marriage so far is
- 55:53Speaker 1: Nicola's like, I really want to get this TV cabinet built.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I'm sick of sitting here. So I'm like, you go
- 55:57Speaker 1: to bed. I'll have it built when you get up.
- 55:59Speaker 1: And I just couldn't do it. And I wrote a
- 56:01Speaker 1: note on the thing saying, they're missing some pieces. It's
- 56:03Speaker 1: not right. The instructions don't work.
- 56:05Speaker 2: Nicola woke up. At 5 p.m. the next night, going,
- 56:08Speaker 2: what's all this chloroform in the room for? So, Nicola's like,
- 56:12Speaker 2: I go to bed.
- 56:13Speaker 1: It's half built. The instructions don't work. I'll take it
- 56:16Speaker 1: back tomorrow.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Don't worry about it.
- 56:17Speaker 1: I've left it.
- 56:17Speaker 2: I'll pull it apart tomorrow when I wake up. I
- 56:19Speaker 2: get up.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Nicola's gone for a 5K run, cooked herself breakfast, and
- 56:23Speaker 1: it's built. She's like, there was nothing wrong with it.
- 56:25Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, I was looking at the
- 56:28Speaker 1: wrong thing.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Oh, that's screwed. She's like, yeah, it was really easy.
- 56:33Speaker 2: It took like 15 minutes. And I was like, I
- 56:34Speaker 2: was here for two hours.
- 56:37Speaker 1: So, she got up. She's like, I had a gym session,
- 56:40Speaker 1: fucking cooked breakfast.
- 56:41Speaker 2: She's starting work.
- 56:42Speaker 1: And it's just built. I came into the kitchen. It
- 56:44Speaker 1: was built. And I didn't say anything at first.
- 56:46Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, shit. It's one of those
- 56:50Speaker 2: moments where you're like, if either of us has an
- 56:55Speaker 2: affair in this relationship, it's not going to be mean.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Like- I'm the loser out of the couple. I hope
- 57:04Speaker 2: you continue to love me forever.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Who plays Ron Swanson? What's his name? Nick Offerman. Nick Offerman.
- 57:10Speaker 1: He got interviewed at the Emmys or whatever recently. And
- 57:13Speaker 1: they're like, what's it like being married to Megan Mullally?
- 57:15Speaker 1: And he's like, basically, I wake up every day and
- 57:18Speaker 1: I see her laying next to me and I think,
- 57:20Speaker 1: what can I do today to not fuck this up?
- 57:22Speaker 2: Yep. Solid.
- 57:25Speaker 1: And that is my life.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:28Speaker 1: But then she gives over the details. Lisa does. It's
- 57:31Speaker 1: a four and a half read. He writes it on
- 57:32Speaker 1: his shoe like Andy does in Toy Story.
- 57:35Speaker 2: And then.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Sorry. It's just very funny.
- 57:39Speaker 2: It is. It's just very funny. Permanent ink tip.
- 57:48Speaker 1: See, they're the little jokes in Toy Story that I
- 57:50Speaker 1: never appreciated as a kid. My favorite gag, I think,
- 57:53Speaker 1: in all of Toy Story is... Got to go all
- 57:55Speaker 1: the way around the horn. It's the only way when
- 57:56Speaker 1: he's doing the channels. I'm like, you kids don't get that.
- 58:00Speaker 2: But it was true.
- 58:01Speaker 1: You had to go all the way around the horn.
- 58:02Speaker 2: It's faster. You've gone past halfway. Just keep going. Ham's
- 58:10Speaker 2: the MVP. Oh, he is. And Mr. Potato Head, I reckon.
- 58:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, Rickles is fantastic. He's just been Rickles, yeah.
- 58:18Speaker 2: He's such a heel. Yeah.
- 58:20Speaker 1: He's a monster.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Murderer! You might have been done. String him up by
- 58:27Speaker 2: his pull string. Nobody takes my wife's mouth but me.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Anyway, so Skinner's now introducing the talent show and he
- 58:36Speaker 1: says the doors are now locked and those in the
- 58:38Speaker 1: first five rows will get wet and Homer arrives at
- 58:42Speaker 1: King Toot's, is it a musical store?
- 58:44Speaker 2: Yeah, King Toot's Musical Store. King Toot's, yeah.
- 58:47Speaker 1: At 6.55, closes at 7pm. He's got plenty of time
- 58:48Speaker 1: to go have a beer at Moe's first, so he
- 58:50Speaker 1: goes to do that. And he's making Mo hurry up. Sorry, Homer.
- 58:53Speaker 1: You know, if you tip the class, you won't be
- 58:55Speaker 1: so much fun. Sorry, Homer.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Sorry, Homer.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Kim is now balancing chairs from the cafeteria. And this
- 59:00Speaker 1: is Lunch Lady Doris' first appearance in The Simpsons, apparently.
- 59:04Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 59:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 59:06Speaker 1: And Bleeding Gums Murphy's just a random judge in this
- 59:08Speaker 1: as well. Yeah.
- 59:09Speaker 2: I'm really enjoying the comic style i love that.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Classic but then homer's finished his beer with 15 seconds
- 59:19Speaker 1: spare but then we see so is his.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Name jeremy it's jay he says call him jay yeah
- 59:24Speaker 2: yeah be a pal yeah be a pal I saved
- 59:27Speaker 2: you I pulled you and your wife from a burning
- 59:29Speaker 2: car alright but now we're even.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Now we're even yes Homer says the moron next door
- 59:33Speaker 1: is closed early I am that moron then we see
- 59:35Speaker 1: Milhouse doing the spoons it's gonna get terrible just.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Terrible oh the best year yet this is sorry another
- 59:42Speaker 2: thing by the way that the writers back then like
- 59:47Speaker 2: I reckon maybe season 4 they really stepped this up
- 59:50Speaker 2: but there's so few wasted lines everything's either a joke
- 59:53Speaker 2: or it's setting up a joke It's all... There's no puffing. No.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: The only parts that are not, when we get a
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: little bit later, will be paying off the story. Yeah.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: But they also have to be there.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: It's so fucking lean. Yeah. The script is really good.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: And now, here's Bart Simpson, the boy of a thousand voices.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I'd like to open with my impression of Principal Skinner. Oh,
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: look at me. I'm Principal Skinner. That young man just
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: became the boy of a thousand days detention. Hey, it's
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Lunch Lady Doris. I wonder what she's got for us today.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Today's special is refried dog poop. Refried dog poop.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's great. It's just a laugh from
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: bleeding guns.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: I tell you that again, like that line would kill
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: with Lex right now.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Refried dog poop yeah like I you do it at
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: a kids talent show yeah I got it today with
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I was asking we were talking about a friend of
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: mine who has a kid that goes to the same
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: daycare and she's like what if you.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: And Nacho weren't friends I was like I will always
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: be friends sweetie she's like have you ever called him
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: a different name sometimes I call him.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Poo face and she laughed for the next 45 seconds
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: the most hysterical thing she's ever heard yeah the word
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: poo is still funny to Ali and Holly anything poo
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: yeah It's great.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: The idea of poo.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Yeah. It's fantastic. Even farts. Like, fart, it's just like... Fart,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: stinky butt. Yeah. Lex has decided that farting on me
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: is the funniest thing that she can do right now.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: She will run from one side of the room to
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: the other just to try to fart on my leg
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: and then run away.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Because we're driving up to the grand final on Sunday
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: and we're driving through Werribee where the poo farms are
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: and all the factories and it's smelling and Elliot's like,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: what's our smell like?
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Poo farms. Where they grow the poo.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: And I was like, Pretty sure that was Mum's bum.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: They're like, Mum's bum!
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: Nailed it! No comeback, Mum!
