- 0:09Speaker 1: And with that, Frank, you're up first with ten questions.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Well, the good news, Adam is me and Greg talked
- 0:15Speaker 2: about Cole was Nwski last week, so we could x
- 0:18Speaker 2: that one right out.
- 0:19Speaker 1: So right, what was newsky? As I told you, the
- 0:23Speaker 1: big question with him is range and that's why he's
- 0:26Speaker 1: a seventh round pick because if he if he had range,
- 0:29Speaker 1: he'd be a much higher pick. But that's the concern
- 0:32Speaker 1: is just he lacks range, and that's a big deal
- 0:34Speaker 1: when you're in safety.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Can you tell us about Jonathan Grenard and how he's
- 0:37Speaker 2: gonna fit in?
- 0:38Speaker 1: I think we all know, uh and I knew this
- 0:41Speaker 1: before he got to the Eagles, but Eagles fans now
- 0:43Speaker 1: know that vic Fanjo in an ideal world, wants to
- 0:46Speaker 1: rush for and play with seven in coverage. That's the
- 0:49Speaker 1: way he wants to play. The reality is they don't
- 0:53Speaker 1: truly have an inch pass rusher, so they needed one.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And you know, to me, if you can get a
- 1:00Speaker 1: player who's less than thirty, who's got a clear track
- 1:03Speaker 1: record of being able to rush the quarterback, especially for
- 1:06Speaker 1: third round picks, I'm all in favor of that, you know,
- 1:09Speaker 1: because Grenard's going to step right in from day one,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and now you have an inch pass rusher. You don't
- 1:14Speaker 1: have to hope that the guy you drafted becomes that
- 1:17Speaker 1: because there's never a guarantee, even first round players, frank
- 1:20Speaker 1: As you know, you know the success rate, however you
- 1:23Speaker 1: define the word success for first round players is not
- 1:26Speaker 1: super high.
- 1:27Speaker 3: But meaning to ask you, Greg, and this has nothing
- 1:29Speaker 3: directly to do with football, but do you still like,
- 1:34Speaker 3: do you go into the office on off brings in
- 1:38Speaker 3: Union Mill still or you were mostly working from home?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Oh? No, No, I'm in the office every single day,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and in fact, almost every day since probably last mid August.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know, That's kind of the way my life is.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And I finished with everything I have to do with
- 1:56Speaker 1: the draft today. So and I'm actually going to Nashville
- 2:01Speaker 1: on Thursday. They're the only city that does something that
- 2:04Speaker 1: for me is super cool. I'm doing I do a
- 2:07Speaker 1: live podcast in Nashville and we get two hundred and
- 2:10Speaker 1: fifty people that show up, and we normally get someone
- 2:14Speaker 1: from the team. Last year, of course, I may have
- 2:18Speaker 1: been the kiss of death. Last year we had Brian Callahan.
- 2:20Speaker 1: This year, I'm doing it with Mike Worganzi their GM.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Oh right, So it's not necessarily an Eagles question, but
- 2:26Speaker 4: it is a post draft question. I could be a
- 2:29Speaker 4: little bossed because he's a hometown kid and I've been
- 2:31Speaker 4: watching him since junior. I and his family's awesome, But
- 2:36Speaker 4: I love the fit for Titans with Leah nick Singleton.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I've loved the kid since, you know, junior high school.
- 2:42Speaker 4: So I just wanted to think, get your point of
- 2:45Speaker 4: view on how you feel he fits in Tennessee.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Single Thing's a fascinating guy because, as you know, he
- 2:51Speaker 1: was the number one recruited running back coming out of
- 2:53Speaker 1: high school. He was considered a major cup for Penn State.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Looked like he was going to be a great player.
- 3:00Speaker 1: He watched him last summer coming off a really good season.
- 3:03Speaker 1: He's a certain kind of back. He's big, He's incredibly explosive,
- 3:08Speaker 1: although that explosiveness where it went this year, I do
- 3:11Speaker 1: not know. He was not the same runner this year.
- 3:14Speaker 1: In fact, he got caught from behind a couple of
- 3:16Speaker 1: times this year, which you know is something that you know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: based on his past, you would never think would happen,
- 3:22Speaker 1: but it happened twice this year on long runs that
- 3:25Speaker 1: should have been touchdowns. He's a he's a kind of
- 3:31Speaker 1: a straight line, linear runner. He's not particularly loose hipped,
- 3:35Speaker 1: but he runs hard. He does get hard yards. He
- 3:40Speaker 1: reminded me when I watched him with Darren McFadden worrying
- 3:44Speaker 1: about Cole. Cole was nisky the new tape and he
- 3:46Speaker 1: picked up the round just to just to give you
- 3:49Speaker 1: the cliff notes version of player I really liked on tape.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Really good tackler, really smart, savvy player. The main issue
- 3:57Speaker 1: with him, which is why he was a seventh round pick,
- 3:59Speaker 1: is is he just doesn't have the range to play
- 4:02Speaker 1: on the back end the way you would ideally like.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So you know, could you know, could a position for
- 4:08Speaker 1: him in an ideal world depending obviously he's with the
- 4:11Speaker 1: Eagles now, but you could think of him, let's say,
- 4:13Speaker 1: being like a dying safety that plays in the box,
- 4:16Speaker 1: you know, that kind of player. And and again maybe
- 4:20Speaker 1: maybe if he has a great off season ots mini
- 4:22Speaker 1: camp and training camp, maybe the Eagles see him that way.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But you know, he's he's If he had range, he
- 4:29Speaker 1: would have been a higher pick because he's a really
- 4:31Speaker 1: good tackler, which is rare, believe me.
- 4:34Speaker 3: With it, with his main with his main liability being ranged,
- 4:38Speaker 3: would you say he's a project.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Well it's for this way. There's no mystery to what
- 4:43Speaker 1: his traits are. So he's not all of a sudden
- 4:46Speaker 1: going to have great range, you know, tomorrow, So that's
- 4:50Speaker 1: not going to change in his game.
- 4:52Speaker 5: You had mentioned that more teams are going thirteen personnel,
- 4:56Speaker 5: and you know, when you have these tight ends who
- 5:00Speaker 5: can actually run, you know, and function kind of like
- 5:03Speaker 5: a receivers, it kind of stresses the defense because they're
- 5:06Speaker 5: still running route combinations as if they have you know,
- 5:10Speaker 5: three receivers out there. So can you speak to that more, like,
- 5:14Speaker 5: what do you mean by that?
- 5:15Speaker 1: I'm not going to take credit for that on any boy.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I actually heard Mike McDonald talk about that, and he's
- 5:19Speaker 1: a little smarter than I am, but it made me think, basically,
- 5:23Speaker 1: what what what what a team like the Rams did
- 5:25Speaker 1: last year, and more teams were playing with multiple tight
- 5:28Speaker 1: ends and you might even see teams play with three
- 5:31Speaker 1: tight ends like the Rams did. Is teams basically now
- 5:34Speaker 1: can split tight ends because they have their those kinds
- 5:37Speaker 1: of players and they can essentially formationally and with their
- 5:43Speaker 1: route concepts, basically act like they have eleven personnel on
- 5:48Speaker 1: the field, you know, based on because normally you think
- 5:51Speaker 1: three tight ends, Oh, you're going to have tight formations.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Tight ends are going to be you know, close to
- 5:55Speaker 1: the formation. That's not necessarily true with the tight ends.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Think of the Bear. The Bears have a Loveland who
- 6:02Speaker 1: can line up anywhere in the formation. He's essentially a
- 6:04Speaker 1: big wide receiver comet not quite the same, but can split.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And then they drafted a tight end in the third
- 6:10Speaker 1: round from Stanford who was almost an extension of the
- 6:13Speaker 1: offensive line. He's sixty six to sixty seven and a
- 6:16Speaker 1: third round pick is not a throwaway pick, so that
- 6:19Speaker 1: means that they plan on playing him somewhere along the line,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know, barring anything unforeseen. So now the a team
- 6:27Speaker 1: like the Bears, like the Rams, can line up with
- 6:29Speaker 1: three tight ends on the field, but they can have
- 6:31Speaker 1: a normal spread formation as if they have three wide
- 6:34Speaker 1: receivers okay, and they can run route concepts as if
- 6:37Speaker 1: those guys are wide receivers.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So what are your thoughts on col Payne.
- 6:42Speaker 1: He's obviously going to be the Day one starter.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Right, do you think there is a world that he
- 6:49Speaker 2: actually could become the Eagle's legitimate backup quarterback? Because I
- 6:53Speaker 2: think that's what everybody kind of hopes and praise that
- 6:55Speaker 2: this is what this turns into.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You know, you can't answer that with any like you
- 7:00Speaker 1: know that, Frank, I can't sit here and say it's
- 7:02Speaker 1: not a mathematical equation. I can't say yes for sure, no,
- 7:05Speaker 1: definitely not. I mean, he has so much work to do,
- 7:08Speaker 1: and just as far as mechanics playing the position, I mean,
- 7:13Speaker 1: I can just tell you, I'll pull up my evaluation
- 7:15Speaker 1: of him and just let you know some of the
- 7:17Speaker 1: things that you know, if I'm seeing them, then you
- 7:20Speaker 1: know quarterback coaches are seeing him. So Cole Peyton, you
- 7:25Speaker 1: almost have to rework him, okay, because his ball carriage
- 7:29Speaker 1: is too low. He holds it too close to his waist.
- 7:32Speaker 1: So what that does is it results in an elongated motion,
- 7:36Speaker 1: so his lower body mechanics and his arm action are
- 7:38Speaker 1: not in sync, so he can't really drive the ball.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And I was I mentioned this morning in talking with
- 7:45Speaker 1: him Adam and Jeff that throwing a fade ball or
- 7:49Speaker 1: throwing a post is not an arm strained throw. People
- 7:52Speaker 1: think that those are armstrained throws because the ball goes
- 7:55Speaker 1: a distance, but they're not armstrained throws. Armstrained throws are
- 7:59Speaker 1: throwing he dig at twenty two yards where you got
- 8:02Speaker 1: to drive the ball between defenders. He can't make those
- 8:04Speaker 1: throws now. He throws with a base that's too wide.
- 8:08Speaker 1: He steps too far out up front with his front foot,
- 8:11Speaker 1: so his arm ends up having to catch up. Yeah,
- 8:13Speaker 1: so he's an overstrider. So he's got a long way
- 8:16Speaker 1: to go, Frank, as far as just the mechanics of
- 8:18Speaker 1: the position, now, does that mean in two years or
- 8:21Speaker 1: three years he can't be a back? Of course not.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You know, you don't know. But the one thing you
- 8:25Speaker 1: love about the kid, and it shows up on tape,
- 8:27Speaker 1: is he plays with a swagger. He is competitive, he's tough,
- 8:31Speaker 1: he's physical. You know. Obviously, I guarantee teammates love him
- 8:34Speaker 1: because of that.
- 8:35Speaker 2: But if you can get him on the field for
- 8:37Speaker 2: a couple of snet where you know what I mean?
- 8:38Speaker 2: Like that Taysom Hill, ask roll And I know people
- 8:40Speaker 2: hear that and they kind of cringe, But I'm like, listen,
- 8:42Speaker 2: Taysom Hill has had a career.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I mean a fifth round you know, obviously later in
- 8:46Speaker 1: the draft, but it's not truly a throwaway. I mean,
- 8:49Speaker 1: you know, not when you take a quarterback there. You know,
- 8:51Speaker 1: it's one thing to take you know, an offensive guard
- 8:54Speaker 1: from you know, Montana State in the fifth round, But
- 8:56Speaker 1: when you take a quarterback there, you know you're not
- 8:59Speaker 1: taking him because you think you're just gonna cut him.
- 9:01Speaker 5: You know, in training camp, you know the kid from
- 9:02Speaker 5: Arskin saw Taylor Green. His issues mechanically, are they similar
- 9:08Speaker 5: to Peyton's or this is a different issue just all together?
- 9:12Speaker 5: You just don't think his arm talent is not there.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Taylor. He's an interesting guy because for some reason, for
- 9:20Speaker 1: a guy that is obviously a great athlete. I mean,
- 9:23Speaker 1: you ran the four to three six, the forty three
- 9:24Speaker 1: and a half inch vertical. You watch his tape, he's
- 9:27Speaker 1: such a smooth, fluid runner. But he throws he's kind
- 9:31Speaker 1: of a soft thrower. He doesn't really have a lot
- 9:33Speaker 1: of twitch the way he throws the ball. So you know,
- 9:36Speaker 1: can he drive the ball with velocity when it's demanded?
- 9:39Speaker 1: You know that that's a question I had. You know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: it's interesting because Todd Monkin is obviously the head coach
- 9:46Speaker 1: of the Browns. They drafted Casey Concepcion, who I thought
- 9:49Speaker 1: reminded me of Zay Flowers coming out of BC. And
- 9:52Speaker 1: obviously he just came from Baltimore where he had Save Flowers.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And we're certainly not making a direct one on one
- 9:58Speaker 1: comparison with Taylor Green and Lamar Jackson. But it's interesting
- 10:01Speaker 1: that he drafted Taylan Green when he just spent the
- 10:03Speaker 1: last two three years with Lamar Jackson.
- 10:05Speaker 5: That lack of twitch that you mentioned him throwing, I've
- 10:08Speaker 5: heard that with Lamar Jackson, and I forget another quarterback
- 10:12Speaker 5: that I previously heard that with. Is that something that
- 10:15Speaker 5: you think can be worked on or is that something
- 10:16Speaker 5: that's just innate in the guy?
- 10:18Speaker 1: And I wish I had a great answer for that.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, I think you can speed
- 10:23Speaker 1: up a guy's delivery to some degree. Is he ever
- 10:26Speaker 1: going to, you know, snap it off like Matthew Stafford, No,
- 10:29Speaker 1: of course not, but I think you can you can
- 10:31Speaker 1: probably speed it up somewhat.
- 10:34Speaker 2: You know, Greg, if we didn't talk about MacKaye Lemon,
- 10:36Speaker 2: I feel that would be an Injustice year. So what
- 10:38Speaker 2: do you think will be the way the best way
- 10:41Speaker 2: to deploy him for the Philadelphia.
- 10:43Speaker 6: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 10:47Speaker 6: long lines. We've all been there, but when it comes
- 10:49Speaker 6: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 10:54Speaker 6: the dispensary for sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly
- 10:58Speaker 6: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast,
- 11:01Speaker 6: no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care about convenience.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Cam Den Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their
- 11:09Speaker 6: staff makes sure you feel taken care of every time
- 11:13Speaker 6: you walk in. Plus, they carry only the best quality
- 11:16Speaker 6: cannabis at the fairest prices, So whether you're stocking up
- 11:20Speaker 6: for the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a big win,
- 11:24Speaker 6: you know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying. They
- 11:27Speaker 6: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 11:32Speaker 6: service members, and healthcare pros. Cam Den Apothecary top quality cannabis,
- 11:37Speaker 6: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 11:41Speaker 6: one and up.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I think the delineation between one and two is is
- 11:44Speaker 1: sort of changed because of the way offenses have changed.
- 11:47Speaker 1: So unless you have a special special guy like the
- 11:50Speaker 1: Jamar Chasers of the world, you know Nico Collins might
- 11:52Speaker 1: fall into that category now because of his size and
- 11:55Speaker 1: movement and he's a true big boundary X. But I'm
- 11:58Speaker 1: Mikayle Lennon over. You know, seventy plus percent of his
- 12:01Speaker 1: snaps last year were in the slot. I think in
- 12:04Speaker 1: this offense, which is going to focus on pre snap movement,
- 12:07Speaker 1: a lot of formation variation, you know, I think this
- 12:10Speaker 1: kind of offense works perfectly for Mikayle Emmon.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Did you see him as a willing blocker? And like
- 12:15Speaker 2: in regards to wide receivers, like, how would you rate
- 12:18Speaker 2: the way that he did perform in the run game.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think he gave effort, and I think that's you know, basically,
- 12:26Speaker 1: that's all you're looking for. If you want to start
- 12:28Speaker 1: teaching wide receivers how to block, you can all you
- 12:30Speaker 1: hope is that they give effort.
