- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Conspiracy, the show, with your hosts, Adam Todd
- 0:16Speaker 1: Brown and Conor McSpadden.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Conspiracy, the show. I'm Adam Todd Brown.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I'm Conor McSpadden.
- 0:37Speaker 2: We are your goddamn hosts.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yep. Steering you through the storm.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Depending on your interpretation of the storm. If you're
- 0:46Speaker 2: one of those QAnon types, maybe you think we are literally... Oh, yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 3: What is the storm? What do they think? What's that
- 0:52Speaker 3: storm code word for in QAnon land?
- 0:54Speaker 2: It's this operation that's supposed to happen where a bunch
- 0:58Speaker 2: of people on the left are going to get rounded
- 1:00Speaker 2: up for being... Operatives of Russia and pedophiles and just
- 1:05Speaker 2: international criminals. Gotcha.
- 1:07Speaker 4: It's like Order 66 in Star Wars, but for liberals.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And it's Donald Trump working in tandem with the Mueller probe. Whoa.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And that's the real aim.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Some of the best shit on the internet is just
- 1:20Speaker 4: Facebook accounts of people like, Yeah, my wife left because
- 1:23Speaker 4: of Q, but that's not going to stop.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Me from getting to the truth.
- 1:27Speaker 2: All right? That's all I have.
- 1:28Speaker 3: That's all I need.
- 1:30Speaker 4: People that have thrown their lives away by just believing
- 1:33Speaker 4: way too hard in this 4chan guy.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, there's an aspect of that called 10 Days of Darkness,
- 1:39Speaker 2: where I don't know what it's exactly supposed to be,
- 1:42Speaker 2: but some sort of silence that happens and then all
- 1:46Speaker 2: these arrests. And when the government shutdown started, people were like,
- 1:50Speaker 2: is this it?
- 1:51Speaker 3: Is it the storm?
- 1:52Speaker 2: And it's been 30 days now, so.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Well, I mean, it's a slow-moving cold front, but it's coming.
- 1:59Speaker 2: It's in dog days.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That wouldn't, I don't know if that math would work.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It doesn't matter.
- 2:04Speaker 3: No, it doesn't.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Hey, what are we mon-talking about today?
- 2:07Speaker 3: Holy shit. The nicely, I'm intimidated to even.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Right? Yeah. I know. Pulling out, pulling out the, my closer.
- 2:18Speaker 4: That's like when you're doing class projects, and the kid
- 2:20Speaker 4: before you crushes so hard, you're like, I kind of
- 2:22Speaker 4: just phoned in this whole thing about Frog and Toad.
- 2:24Speaker 3: What if they had a bicycle shop together?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Fuck. That was me every time, because I went to
- 2:29Speaker 2: a school where kids were just starting to get computers. Oh, yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 2: So there would always be that one fuckstick who had
- 2:35Speaker 2: a printer, and his shit looked all professional.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Yeah, with his fucking Peggy Hill Macintosh back at home.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Fuck that kid.
- 2:41Speaker 3: That's when I.
- 2:43Speaker 4: officially dropped out of community college to become a stand-up
- 2:45Speaker 4: comedian i had the geology of the solar system class
- 2:48Speaker 4: and we had to do a presentation and i we
- 2:50Speaker 4: really just my group just didn't fucking do it you
- 2:53Speaker 4: know uh so this guy just says all right i
- 2:56Speaker 4: know it's going to make this presentation good and these
- 2:58Speaker 4: are just dumb community college guys two and three you
- 3:01Speaker 4: know and he just goes presentation background music i've got
- 3:05Speaker 4: my phone in this bluetooth speaker So we'll play it
- 3:07Speaker 4: underneath us the whole time to make it more compelling.
- 3:10Speaker 3: And I said, that's the best we got.
- 3:11Speaker 2: You do it.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And then I improvised this whole.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Story about going to the launch pad and going, you know.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And we ended up getting like an A plus.
- 3:21Speaker 4: And I'm like, why am I not being charlatanizing on
- 3:24Speaker 4: a more organized professional level?
- 3:26Speaker 3: This is not the place for me.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I mean, I pulled it off, but I'm wasting my
- 3:29Speaker 4: talents here.
- 3:30Speaker 2: That I on last one of the daily podcast episodes
- 3:34Speaker 2: last week, I told a similar story about how like
- 3:38Speaker 2: the first time I knew I could write and that
- 3:40Speaker 2: I could maybe just write for a living. I was
- 3:43Speaker 2: in eighth grade and I had to do a book
- 3:46Speaker 2: report about Martin Luther King Jr. And I did not
- 3:50Speaker 2: read the book, but I was like, I'm in eighth grade.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I know enough about Martin Luther King Jr., That I
- 3:55Speaker 2: can write 500 words about it. Yeah. And this teacher's
- 3:58Speaker 2: not going to go back and read the book and
- 3:59Speaker 2: make sure I'm not just making this shit up.
- 4:02Speaker 1: No.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And I got an A on that.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, because she's like, oh, he's just pulling out
- 4:05Speaker 4: details no one else even got. And you're like, because
- 4:07Speaker 4: I made those up, you stupid bitch. How do you
- 4:08Speaker 4: like that?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it was pretty great. So this week is kind
- 4:13Speaker 2: of a continuation of last week. Last week we talked
- 4:15Speaker 2: about the Phoenix Project and the Philadelphia Experiment, especially.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and the all-off shoots of Project Rainbow, and weird
- 4:25Speaker 4: government battleship naval invisibility technology, and the alleged phasing in
- 4:32Speaker 4: and out of the universe, the crazy side effects, the teleportation,
- 4:35Speaker 4: the crew members catching on fire.
- 4:37Speaker 3: For 18 hours.
- 4:38Speaker 2: 18 days. 18 days.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I forgot. Silly me.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah. No ability to put the fire out.
- 4:45Speaker 3: What a weird amount of time. It really is.
- 4:47Speaker 4: If you were like three days or six months, I'd
- 4:49Speaker 4: be okay. But I mean, just 18 days.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yeah. Of firing fire guys.
- 4:54Speaker 2: 18 days of fire.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Coming soon from the people who brought you QAnon.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Yeah, 18 days of fire.
- 5:01Speaker 4: The new Adam Sandler conspiracy vehicle. Gets a DUI and
- 5:05Speaker 4: a UFO. I'd watch that shit. Crazy Nights is actually
- 5:09Speaker 4: a pretty good movie.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it is. So when we left off the Phoenix
- 5:14Speaker 2: Project and Project Rainbow, which was the project behind the
- 5:18Speaker 2: Philadelphia Experiment, they had teamed up to try and figure
- 5:22Speaker 2: out why the Philadelphia Experiment went so wrong.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And to give people who are listening for free, we
- 5:29Speaker 2: love you anyway. Just some background if you didn't hear
- 5:31Speaker 2: the last episode, which you fucking better not have. If
- 5:34Speaker 2: you're not paying.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, you better not be pirating.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, if you did, tell us where.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Home taping is killing the record industry. Exactly.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Home fucking is killing the porn industry.
- 5:46Speaker 3: That's a good bumper sticker. We got to go back
- 5:49Speaker 3: in time and get in on that dollar. That's what
- 5:51Speaker 3: I'm going to do if I get the Montauk Project.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I'm like, take me back where? Milwaukee, 1978. I've got $ 1, 000
- 5:56Speaker 3: to make.
- 6:01Speaker 2: That's a lot of money in 78.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, dude. I could buy myself a whole fucking
- 6:04Speaker 3: big-ass boat of a car.
- 6:05Speaker 2: You know? Would have paid your rent for a year, probably.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Yeah, probably could have, you know, gotten some sort of
- 6:12Speaker 4: leisure suit, I guess.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Those were huge back then.
- 6:16Speaker 3: For a good reason. They were good as shit.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So this project, they had figured out, allegedly, by 1967,
- 6:24Speaker 2: what went wrong with the Philadelphia Experiment and how to
- 6:27Speaker 2: fix it. And they go to Congress... Because I should
- 6:30Speaker 2: run through a little bit of that. The Philadelphia experiment,
- 6:33Speaker 2: they were trying to make a ship invisible, the USS Eldridge.
- 6:37Speaker 2: And allegedly, they made it invisible, but it also teleported
- 6:41Speaker 2: to Virginia for a while, came back. There were dudes
- 6:44Speaker 2: embedded in the walls. Yeah. Big fiasco.
- 6:47Speaker 4: And what's the most unbelievable part is that it would
- 6:49Speaker 4: just teleport to another body of water somewhere.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:54Speaker 4: If it really just teleported randomly, it'd probably phase you
- 6:57Speaker 4: into a black hole somewhere.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Or like downtown LA.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 4: If you just Watchmen battleship dropped, that would be pretty
- 7:05Speaker 4: fucking exciting.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So they figure all of these glitches out, allegedly, and
- 7:11Speaker 2: go to Congress. And they're like, hey, we figured it out.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Let's keep working on this. And Congress, knowing what happened
- 7:18Speaker 2: with the Philadelphia experiment, said no. They refused to fund
- 7:21Speaker 2: it any further.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 2: So the people who had done all this work, coming
- 7:26Speaker 2: up with basically a device that can control weather and
- 7:30Speaker 2: moods at the same time.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That was the culmination of all this. The government tells
- 7:35Speaker 2: them no. Shuts them down, as the government does.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I was about to say, none of this sounds like
- 7:39Speaker 4: anything that would happen in this situation. Like, you know,
- 7:43Speaker 4: the black budget researcher trying to refine his dangerous idea.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Congress going, whoa, sounds a little bit too gnarly for
- 7:51Speaker 4: our blood.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Very, very dubious. Right. Very, very dubious.
- 7:57Speaker 2: And so that's what leads us to the Montauk Project. Yes.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Which is a conspiracy theory that alleges there were a
- 8:05Speaker 2: series of secret U.S. government projects conducted at Camp Hero
- 8:10Speaker 2: or Montauk Air Force Station on Montauk, Long Island.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Most unbelievable part is any sort of technology in Long Island.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that part is crazy.
- 8:19Speaker 4: A little bit out there because I feel like they
- 8:21Speaker 4: don't get any further than a Zoltar from Big Machine.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 3: That's their, like, that's their god.
- 8:26Speaker 2: At least it's not like Staten Island. That would be weirder.
- 8:29Speaker 3: That would be weirder.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I think. And the purpose was to develop psychological warfare
- 8:34Speaker 2: techniques and research involving time travel. Montauk is the basis, allegedly,
- 8:40Speaker 2: for the Netflix series Stranger Things.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Yeah, which I have not seen.
- 8:45Speaker 2: The working title was Montauk. If they had kept it
- 8:48Speaker 2: as Montauk, I might have watched it.
- 8:49Speaker 4: I thought Montauk was that Jamaican AM radio show.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Welcome back to Montauk.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Welcome to Montauk.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Today on this show. Blah, blah, blah. Blah, blah, blah.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I would listen to Montauk.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Montauk Radio. That would be a pretty good name
- 9:06Speaker 4: for a conspiracy podcast. There are probably a few more
- 9:09Speaker 4: scrolls down from us on the Uproxx Best Conspiracy Podcast
- 9:12Speaker 4: article out now.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Which we did not read except past the first, which
- 9:16Speaker 2: has an adorable picture of Connor with my dog Winter.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Yeah, nice picture of you and Winter when I had
- 9:21Speaker 3: my weird mohawk.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 3: It's good.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Appropriately, there is a fan sitting next to you trying
- 9:25Speaker 2: to build a computer.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I remember that moment. While I help and do nothing.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah. None of us helped.
- 9:31Speaker 3: We've been coronated by the Kings, everybody.
- 9:34Speaker 2: So the story of the Montauk Project, and this is
- 9:39Speaker 2: what makes it so suspicious. I kind of mentioned this
- 9:42Speaker 2: last time, is a lot of the things alleged to
- 9:45Speaker 2: be happening, or that did happen on Montauk in Long Island,
- 9:50Speaker 2: comes from the Montauk Project book series by Preston Nichols.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And Nichols claims to have recovered repressed memories of his
- 9:58Speaker 2: involvement in experiments at Montauk and claims he is periodically
- 10:02Speaker 2: abducted to continue his participation against his will. Immediate problem.
- 10:08Speaker 2: The publisher of these books, which is skybooksusa.com.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Sounds legit.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Their tagline, where science fiction meets reality.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Oh, okay. All right. I like that.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Yeah, this is the sources are repressed memories. So you
- 10:23Speaker 4: open up the index and it's just like page 86,
- 10:26Speaker 4: the interdimensional Cthulhu. That came from the nightmare I had
- 10:31Speaker 4: after I ate all that mustard before bed.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Hmm. yeah not the most reliable source i don't that
- 10:39Speaker 2: i feel like the philadelphia experiment in general there's a
- 10:41Speaker 2: lot of i don't believe most of it.
- 10:43Speaker 4: You know it's good i think it just stuck because
- 10:45Speaker 4: it's so cool sound like all this all the shit
- 10:47Speaker 4: that happens is so cool we're like.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Oh it's just a fun one we don't need any
- 10:51Speaker 3: sources and it.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Sounds great the name the philadelphia experiment.
- 10:57Speaker 4: It's just vague or it could be anything yeah yeah
- 11:00Speaker 4: what is what are they doing in philly Are they
- 11:02Speaker 4: putting Lay's potato chips in the cheese steaks?
- 11:04Speaker 3: I gotta know.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I don't know if I saw that movie when I
- 11:07Speaker 2: was a kid. Probably not. I just remember, because it
- 11:10Speaker 2: came out in 84.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you were eight, right?
- 11:12Speaker 2: So I remember hearing it, and I've always been familiar
- 11:15Speaker 2: with the name The Philadelphia Experiment.
- 11:18Speaker 3: No, I had known about Montauk. I didn't really know
- 11:21Speaker 3: about the precursors to it.
- 11:23Speaker 2: You know where I first heard of Montauk?
- 11:24Speaker 4: I was like that kid at the mall with the
- 11:25Speaker 4: Green Day shirt who couldn't sing a Ramones song, you know?
- 11:30Speaker 4: I didn't have a fully balanced conspiracy diet as a
- 11:32Speaker 4: young man.
- 11:33Speaker 2: You know where I first heard of Montauk was, what's
- 11:37Speaker 2: the Jim Carrey, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mountain?
- 11:41Speaker 3: Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 2: What a great movie. Oh, yeah. One of my favorite movies.
- 11:45Speaker 2: But they talk about Montauk in a very different way.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's that one scene.
- 11:49Speaker 4: That was also a very good Jay Electronica mixtape where
- 11:52Speaker 4: he raps over the score.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that was his first project. It's haunting. Nice.
- 11:57Speaker 4: If you want to hear someone be really good at
- 11:59Speaker 4: something and really insane, go listen to that and get sad.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 2: So yeah, they present this stuff in the Montauk Project
- 12:06Speaker 2: book series as, yeah, maybe it's real. Maybe it's not.
- 12:10Speaker 2: You decide. They've never officially said the books are fact
- 12:14Speaker 2: or fiction. Sidebar, are you familiar with the found footage
- 12:17Speaker 2: movie UFO Abduction?
- 12:19Speaker 3: I am not.
- 12:20Speaker 2: It's probably the first found footage movie. It came out
- 12:24Speaker 2: in the late 80s.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Okay. Okay.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And it is just, like, 80s video camera footage of
- 12:33Speaker 2: a girl's birthday party.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And then they start seeing, like, lights flashing out in
- 12:40Speaker 2: the woods. And then the last scene, aliens walk in. Yo.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And one of the conspiracy theories around the time this
- 12:48Speaker 2: came out was that it wasn't. It was actual found
- 12:52Speaker 2: footage where- it was footage of an actual UFO abduction. Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And when it got posted to the internet, the government
- 12:59Speaker 2: was like, no, it's a movie.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's funny.
- 13:02Speaker 2: We're going to release it as a movie.
- 13:04Speaker 3: It's a crazy movie.
- 13:07Speaker 4: That's like that cannibalism movie that was so real-looking that
- 13:10Speaker 4: people got arrested.
- 13:12Speaker 3: No, we just got good at special effects.
- 13:14Speaker 2: You asshole.
- 13:15Speaker 3: What the hell?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Cannibal Holocaust, I think it is.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm way too squeamish. I couldn't watch it.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I've never seen it. UFO Abduction, you could watch, but
- 13:24Speaker 2: I don't know why you would. It's a terrible movie.
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's boring. It's very boring.
- 13:28Speaker 4: I'll stick with my Elvis getting into a golf cart
- 13:30Speaker 4: from faraway clips.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Thank you very much.
- 13:34Speaker 2: So yeah, this is kind of along the same lines
- 13:37Speaker 2: as UFO abduction, where it's a thing that has been
- 13:40Speaker 2: presented as not real, but people are still like, yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 2: maybe it is.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:45Speaker 2: So the book claims that the Montauk Project is an
- 13:48Speaker 2: extension of the Philadelphia Experiment, which we talked about on
- 13:53Speaker 2: the last episode. And that's how these two things tie together. Eventually,
- 13:59Speaker 2: they come together as Project Phoenix 2. We talked about
- 14:02Speaker 2: Project Phoenix a lot on the Philadelphia Experiment episode. Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And basically when Project Phoenix went to Congress to get
- 14:11Speaker 2: funding and Congress said no, the next move was to
- 14:16Speaker 2: kind of bypass Congress and go directly to the military.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 4: And just say, hey, you got that prescription pad?
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, and the military was all for it because
- 14:26Speaker 2: this was, yeah. Can you believe it?
- 14:29Speaker 3: No way.
- 14:30Speaker 2: And they, they bypass Congress. They pitch the military, military
- 14:34Speaker 2: officials directly. And the military agrees to set project Phoenix
- 14:38Speaker 2: up in a secluded area to conduct the research and
- 14:42Speaker 2: to provide the equipment and personnel needed to keep operating.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And the location they settled on Montauk air force base.
- 14:49Speaker 2: located within Fort Hero on Montauk Point, Long Island. It
- 14:53Speaker 2: was isolated, it was out of use at the time,
- 14:57Speaker 2: and it was fitted with a SAGE radar system, which
- 15:00Speaker 2: the radio signals, I'm sure everyone already knows this, the
- 15:05Speaker 2: radio signals required to get inside the human consciousness operate
- 15:10Speaker 2: on the 425 to 450 megahertz range, and so does
- 15:14Speaker 2: the SAGE radar.
- 15:15Speaker 3: So that's the defrost chicken setting on the microwave?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Exactly, it's the pizza button.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I call the fat clits.
- 15:24Speaker 2: And what this meant is because the Sage radar was
- 15:28Speaker 2: already there but was an obsolete piece of military equipment,
- 15:32Speaker 2: they could use it and no one would wonder why.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like if someone was like, oh, I'm
- 15:36Speaker 4: going to use this typewriter. I'm like, oh, I don't
- 15:38Speaker 4: give a shit.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It's actually for demons. He, he, he, he.
- 15:42Speaker 2: And so they basically, as the story goes, convert the
- 15:47Speaker 2: Sage radar into a big radio sonde, which we talked
- 15:51Speaker 2: about last episode also. Yeah. Which is a device that
- 15:55Speaker 2: is alleged to be able to send good and bad
- 15:58Speaker 2: orgone energy to control weather and control moods.
- 16:02Speaker 3: To test the coil for magic orgone energy. Right, yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 2: So they get all this set up on Montauk, and
- 16:09Speaker 2: the project takes on a new name, Phoenix. two which
- 16:13Speaker 2: sure that's a good sequel name.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Yeah why not pretty by the book i mean they
- 16:17Speaker 4: did i mean they had to go to the military
- 16:18Speaker 4: so there were some budget cuts and that went to
- 16:20Speaker 4: the naming guy yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 2: The way they got the money is one of the
- 16:25Speaker 2: craziest allegations in this story basically it's alleged that at
- 16:31Speaker 2: one point during world war ii we were transporting nazi
- 16:35Speaker 2: gold that we had taken by train through France. And
- 16:40Speaker 2: someone blew up that train, killed 51 American servicemen, and
- 16:46Speaker 2: made off with that gold. Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 4: It's like that Northern California armored truck robbery that the
- 16:52Speaker 4: Nazis got all that funding from.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I don't know if I've ever heard of that.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 16:56Speaker 4: There was some big armored truck robbery by some white
- 16:58Speaker 4: power organization in NorCal back in the 90s.
- 17:02Speaker 3: I forget all the.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Details, but that basically funded the white power underground gang
- 17:07Speaker 4: network because they had $ 4 million liquid capital or whatever.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think people tend to discount crime when it
- 17:14Speaker 2: comes into how certain entities make money. I was reading
- 17:17Speaker 2: a thing the other day about North Korea. They have
- 17:20Speaker 2: stolen something like $ 570 million in cryptocurrency over the past
- 17:25Speaker 2: five years. Oh, yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 4: They just got like a little boiler room full of
- 17:28Speaker 4: people trying to find abandoned Ethereum wallets and just, you know.
- 17:33Speaker 2: They just tricked a guy in Chile into basically giving
- 17:37Speaker 2: them access to that entire country's ATM network because he
- 17:42Speaker 2: thought he was doing a job interview and they were like,
- 17:46Speaker 2: download the software on your computer. That's how we send
- 17:48Speaker 2: you the application. It was literally called applicationpdf.exe. And he
- 17:53Speaker 2: was like, all right. And it was malware that just
- 17:56Speaker 2: gave them access to the entire computer system.
- 17:58Speaker 4: That file name is like a Wile E. Coyote tunnel
- 18:01Speaker 4: painted onto a rock. What do you think was going
- 18:03Speaker 4: to happen? Nothing to see, hear, flowers.
- 18:06Speaker 2: And on his computer, his work computer, no less.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Oh, of course. Well, you got it.
- 18:11Speaker 2: You take that to an internet cafe or something.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Also, you're applying for jobs on the job. That's not
- 18:16Speaker 3: exactly great.
- 18:18Speaker 2: So, yeah, one of the allegations is that we're the
- 18:21Speaker 2: ones who blew up that train because we wanted that gold,
- 18:25Speaker 2: but we couldn't just take it.
- 18:27Speaker 4: No, because it's supposed to, you know, there's channels for
- 18:29Speaker 4: how it's distributed through Interpol or whatever.
- 18:31Speaker 2: So we wanted it. So we blew up the train
- 18:34Speaker 2: and we took the gold.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Seems pretty easy.
- 18:37Speaker 2: And that Nazi gold is what funded Project Montauk. Wow.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Well, that's what brought in all that negative Oregon energy.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I got to figure.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 2: What I don't like about this theory is that means
- 18:47Speaker 2: we held on to that Nazi gold for like 20 years.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 4: We're saving this for when we really need some fucking
- 18:54Speaker 4: secret money.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think the government works that way. I
- 18:57Speaker 2: feel like we would have spent that shit almost right away.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I'm thinking of my new Great Conspiracy of the Show character. Hi,
- 19:03Speaker 4: this is Huell Hauser with Nazi gold. So you burn people.
- 19:10Speaker 4: How does that work? So, yeah, that's one of the allegations.
- 19:17Speaker 2: And then also the Krupp family, which is a German
- 19:20Speaker 2: family that made munitions and weapons during World War II.
- 19:23Speaker 2: They're still in business making all sorts of shit now.
- 19:27Speaker 3: What's this company again?
- 19:28Speaker 2: Krupp.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Oh, that's right. Yeah, yeah, Krupp.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Which I thought made coffee, but that's obviously a different company.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Well, it's one of these that were like during World
- 19:35Speaker 4: War II, like IBM made machine guns, you know?
- 19:38Speaker 3: Right. It's like there's a bunch of weird shit like that. Yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 2: And after the Nazi gold money ran out, it's allegedly
- 19:44Speaker 2: the Krupp family that kept this going. Because this starts,
- 19:48Speaker 2: Project Montauk starts in 1970. The Krupp family's the one,
- 19:51Speaker 2: they all look like Eddie Murphy.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Meet the Krups.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And it ends in 1983 with a crazy, crazy experiment
- 20:01Speaker 2: that rips a hole in time.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 2: You remember when that happened? Of course. Right before Chicken
- 20:06Speaker 2: McNuggets came out. Yes.
- 20:08Speaker 3: That's how we got them. Between RoboCops 1 and 2,
- 20:10Speaker 3: there was.
- 20:12Speaker 2: So let's talk about some of the experiments they allegedly ran. First,
- 20:17Speaker 2: they brought in various military and civilian personnel to work
- 20:22Speaker 2: on the project. A lot of them familiar with the
- 20:24Speaker 2: Sage radar system.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Yeah, the outdated technology uses the base for the whole
- 20:29Speaker 4: orgone blasting.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Exactly. And early in the project, it was noted that
- 20:34Speaker 2: the general mood on the base would change according to
- 20:37Speaker 2: the frequency and pulse duration of the radar system.
- 20:41Speaker 3: They were cycling.
- 20:42Speaker 2: And I've, in reading through this, I always, like, How
- 20:46Speaker 2: did they test that?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah, like, everyone, like, they had those happy face, like,
- 20:50Speaker 3: graphs where it's like, circle, which one are you feeling today?
- 20:53Speaker 2: Did someone just go through the crowd and, like, try
- 20:55Speaker 2: and make conversation, and everyone's like, shut up?
- 20:57Speaker 4: Yeah, did they look at the Spotify numbers and see
- 21:00Speaker 4: a lot of streams for the Smiths?
- 21:03Speaker 2: I fucking love the Smiths.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Oh, me too, man. They're like, yeah, seems as though
- 21:07Speaker 3: there's quite a bit of joy division going on around here.
- 21:10Speaker 3: What's everyone all right? Should we have a meeting?
- 21:13Speaker 2: So this prompts them to start experimenting with what frequencies
- 21:18Speaker 2: would bring out what responses in people. Of course, yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And what they would do is they would put people
- 21:23Speaker 2: in a room and they would direct the sage radar
- 21:27Speaker 2: at that room. And by altering the frequency and pulse
- 21:31Speaker 2: of the radar, they could make a person laugh, cry, angry,
- 21:36Speaker 2: or sleepy. And then the mood of the general base
- 21:39Speaker 2: would also change in accordance with.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Some of the background radiation. That's funny. Those are the
- 21:46Speaker 3: four main things you're trying to do to the enemy. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Trying to make them on their period.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Make them cry.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Yeah, make them cry.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, that's kind of interesting that they could dial it
- 21:57Speaker 4: in that specifically. Can we make it so it reactivates
- 22:01Speaker 4: his gambling problem?
- 22:02Speaker 3: How finally can we tune it in?
- 22:04Speaker 2: And what do you do when you have a whole
- 22:06Speaker 2: team of the enemy crying? You can't like run in
- 22:08Speaker 2: and start arresting them because you're going to run in
- 22:10Speaker 2: the direction of that beam also and you're going to
- 22:12Speaker 2: start crying.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Yeah, you'd have to get some sort of hazmat suit
- 22:15Speaker 4: and bayonet them, you know, so you didn't accidentally catch bitch-itis.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Get in a Faraday cage. Yes.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Faraday cage.
- 22:23Speaker 2: There's a callback.
- 22:24Speaker 3: That's for the conspiracy BDSM people. So, yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 2: This all sounds fake to me.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Nothing about it seems super believable. I mean,
- 22:36Speaker 3: I could believe that they thought they could do this
- 22:39Speaker 3: because they would just run with stupid ideas and throw
- 22:41Speaker 3: money at them, you know?
- 22:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Like, I would buy that maybe they thought.
- 22:45Speaker 4: They could, like, well, if we get it in maybe
- 22:47Speaker 4: 436 megahertz is the one that makes you shit your
- 22:49Speaker 4: pants and miss your dad, you know?
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 3: That I could see, but the fact, like, them actually
- 22:53Speaker 3: doing it and pulling out of it, I'm like.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and this, like, I used to always say about MKUltra, like, well,
- 22:59Speaker 2: why did they keep going if it wasn't working? And
- 23:02Speaker 2: then on last episode, I talked about budgets and how
- 23:04Speaker 2: sometimes you just spend the money so you get it
- 23:06Speaker 2: again next year.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Oh, sure.
- 23:08Speaker 4: And it's like, if you've got a cush gig just
- 23:09Speaker 4: giving people LSD and laughing at them, I mean, you
- 23:12Speaker 4: probably grow to love that job.
- 23:14Speaker 2: And it's way more comforting for me to think that
- 23:16Speaker 2: the government was just spinning its wheels that whole time.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Than actually hitting, like, fucking, like, researchable pay dirt with
- 23:23Speaker 4: any of these projects.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:25Speaker 4: That is more comforting to go, like, oh, they're just
- 23:27Speaker 4: wasting money. All of this fucking blood money they got
- 23:30Speaker 4: from the various concurrent wars.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:32Speaker 4: As opposed to actually learning how to, you know, make
- 23:35Speaker 4: people sad with a laser.
- 23:36Speaker 2: But at least Manchurian candidates aren't real.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yes, exactly.
- 23:39Speaker 2: But they are. Mm-hmm. So... Whatever the case, the next
- 23:44Speaker 2: step was to try and use the sage to control thoughts.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And they were allegedly able to do this as well,
- 23:50Speaker 2: but there's not a ton of details on exactly how
- 23:54Speaker 2: they did that.
- 23:54Speaker 3: There's no, there's no like, there's no, we misfiled these
- 23:57Speaker 3: papers and then they showed up here and they redacted that.
- 24:00Speaker 3: There could have been this. It's a lot of just.
- 24:02Speaker 3: This is what they say it was, and who said it?
- 24:04Speaker 4: I don't know, the first guy with the fucking Angel
- 24:07Speaker 4: Fire website, kind of, you know? It's all passed down
- 24:10Speaker 4: from the Angel Fire tomes.
- 24:12Speaker 2: And maybe it's addressed in the Montauk Project book series,
- 24:15Speaker 2: but there's like ten of those books.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's like, who read all those? It's like
- 24:20Speaker 4: Animorphs for guys that don't bathe.
- 24:22Speaker 2: If you think we have enough of a following... For
- 24:25Speaker 2: me to put the time in to read ten books
- 24:27Speaker 2: to research one episode. Oh, no.
- 24:30Speaker 3: This ain't Dan Carlin. This is Wendy's.
- 24:32Speaker 2: We're going to have to be putting up fucking Marc
- 24:34Speaker 2: Maron numbers before I'm doing that.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't read ten books in the last five years. So,
- 24:39Speaker 3: I mean, you tell me what's going to happen there.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I didn't realize I was signed up for Audible.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Oh, so you got 500 credits you haven't used?
- 24:48Speaker 2: I had six credits and they emailed me today and
- 24:51Speaker 2: were like, you can't keep that many credits at once,
- 24:53Speaker 2: which why?
- 24:54Speaker 4: Yeah, this weird sort of like anti- Like I'm hoarding
- 24:57Speaker 4: them for the apocalypse.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like those.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Weird deflation monetary techniques they use where it was like
- 25:03Speaker 4: the older your money is, the less it's worth to
- 25:05Speaker 4: try to stimulate the economy. Like back in like, you know,
- 25:07Speaker 4: like fucking like the 1800s or something.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I think England did that where they're trying to get
- 25:11Speaker 3: like things moving up. It's very strange.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Because I've had the same.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I just downloaded a bunch of shit.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I've had the same fucking email with Audible.
- 25:18Speaker 2: And I'm like, why?
- 25:18Speaker 3: I bought it, you fuck. I bought it.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Stop. So it's worth noting that bathing people in microwave
- 25:26Speaker 2: radiation is super dangerous, which is something that anyone listening
- 25:31Speaker 2: to this. Whatever, Al.
- 25:31Speaker 3: We need more power.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Anyone listening to this would be like, no, they would
- 25:35Speaker 2: have just been giving people cancer and all those people
- 25:37Speaker 2: would be dead by now. The way this book series
- 25:41Speaker 2: addresses this is that some test subjects were baked. Not
- 25:46Speaker 2: baked like I am right now, but cooked. From the
- 25:49Speaker 2: inside out by radio waves. And that's called burning radiation.
- 25:55Speaker 2: But what they found is that the back of this
- 25:57Speaker 2: radar emitted non-burning radiation, but it also worked in the
- 26:02Speaker 2: exact same way in that you could use it to
- 26:03Speaker 2: control thoughts. So that's convenient.
- 26:06Speaker 4: This is literally the explanation they have is, well, what
- 26:09Speaker 4: if we put the batteries in backwards and now it's
- 26:11Speaker 4: a shrink ray? It's like SpongeBob Deus Ex Machina sort
- 26:16Speaker 4: of reasoning.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Turn it around, which even then turning it around, why
- 26:20Speaker 2: are beams going.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Why is it coming out the ass of it?
- 26:23Speaker 2: There's nothing on the back that should be shooting beams out.
- 26:25Speaker 3: There's an emitter on the front, and maybe, I mean,
- 26:28Speaker 3: through reflection, it would bounce off a surface and go
- 26:30Speaker 3: behind it eventually.
- 26:31Speaker 4: It's the nature of light and electricity and everything else,
- 26:35Speaker 4: but why would it do that?
- 26:37Speaker 2: It's a very suspect detail that I feel like someone
- 26:40Speaker 2: added later on down the line when we learned more
- 26:43Speaker 2: about how radiation works. And someone was just like, no,
- 26:47Speaker 2: that would kill everybody. Oh, okay, I got it. Yeah,
- 26:49Speaker 2: just like... We turned it around.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Every time, like, well, actually, the Bible predicted global warming
- 26:52Speaker 4: because it mentions fire here. And it's like, well, or
- 26:55Speaker 4: are you just trying to make it seem better?
- 26:58Speaker 2: Right. So eventually, this testing, it's alleged, progressed to trying
- 27:04Speaker 2: to control and influence large groups all at once, which
- 27:10Speaker 2: army units were brought in for R & R. which
- 27:14Speaker 2: I think means rest and relaxation?
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah. Something like that? Yeah, I believe so, yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 2: And they became test subjects, because who wouldn't want to
- 27:22Speaker 2: go hang out on Montauk Point in Long Island? I know.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I mean, maybe they have nice beaches. I don't know.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I mean, that's honestly probably still one of the better
- 27:28Speaker 4: getaway spots in Long Island.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 27:31Speaker 3: At least there's stuff to do, like be burned inside.
- 27:34Speaker 2: They also tested on people in New Jersey, New York,
- 27:36Speaker 2: and Connecticut, so that's fine.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Yeah, get some of those wasps. You know those New
- 27:40Speaker 3: Jersey wasps?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Programs were written that allegedly allowed for everything from creating
- 27:47Speaker 2: simple mood swings to increasing crime rates. inciting violence and
- 27:53Speaker 2: causing mass panics and.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Are there no incidents that they can point to yeah
- 27:59Speaker 1: they're not going to be like yo the la riots
- 28:01Speaker 1: that was us you know i could take credit for
- 28:03Speaker 1: something but like you take a page out of isis's
- 28:05Speaker 1: book here cia.
- 28:07Speaker 2: And that seems like an easy thing to say. I'm
- 28:11Speaker 2: sure there have been mass panics that are in the news.
- 28:13Speaker 2: They could just tie that. But you don't get any
- 28:16Speaker 2: of that with this. They're just like, it worked.
- 28:18Speaker 4: And Lord knows, I mean, the population of New Jersey
- 28:21Speaker 4: isn't emotional and quick to act without thinking.
- 28:24Speaker 3: There's so many things.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Any number of demolition derby shootings could have been attributed
- 28:28Speaker 4: to Montauk.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Was there a Springsteen album out that day?
- 28:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 2: People are going to be fucking excited in New Jersey.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Baby, I was born to be radiated.
- 28:37Speaker 2: So with that, once they figured out how to control crowds,
- 28:42Speaker 2: they move on to making it more precise. And that's
- 28:45Speaker 2: when the Montauk chair becomes a thing. Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 4: This is what I read about. This was like the
- 28:51Speaker 4: shit that fucking a young Conor McSpadden was into.
- 28:54Speaker 2: It's... It's basically a guy sitting in a chair that
- 28:58Speaker 2: is also a device of some sort.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Yep.
- 29:01Speaker 2: And if he focuses hard enough, he can see what's
- 29:05Speaker 2: happening at a remote location or possibly enter the consciousness
- 29:09Speaker 2: of a person at another location and control their thoughts
- 29:13Speaker 2: and movements.
- 29:14Speaker 3: It's the being John Malkovich chair.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:16Speaker 3: You know?
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and the version I read, which again was on
- 29:20Speaker 4: like a GeoCities Angel Fire page, was about how he
- 29:23Speaker 4: could just make whatever was in his imagination real.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 3: By sitting in the chair.
- 29:27Speaker 2: That comes up also. It's basically what people say is
- 29:32Speaker 2: the ITT, Worldwide Communications Corporation, owned by the Krupp family,
- 29:37Speaker 2: was able to turn this previous device... into a mind-reading
- 29:42Speaker 2: and mind-control device.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Well, they did it straight on. They did it backwards.
- 29:45Speaker 4: When you go sideways, it reads minds.
- 29:47Speaker 2: It explodes your head if they point it directly at you.
- 29:50Speaker 4: And then the other sideways is you get to be
- 29:52Speaker 4: the Ben 10 kid and pick what alien you want
- 29:54Speaker 4: to fight as.
- 29:55Speaker 2: And a Cray-1 supercomputer, I didn't even know they were
- 29:59Speaker 2: using that phrase back then, was used to turn that
- 30:02Speaker 2: information into something a person could understand. It would read
- 30:05Speaker 2: an electromagnetic field and turn that into something a person
- 30:10Speaker 2: could read.
- 30:11Speaker 3: It would translate it.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Right. And some of the technology used to build this,
- 30:15Speaker 2: of course, provided by aliens.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Where else are you going to get it?
- 30:18Speaker 2: Right. No longer anti-Semitic aliens, apparently.
- 30:21Speaker 3: No, these are good, you know.
- 30:23Speaker 2: We gave them all that Nazi gold.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Globalist aliens that want everyone to get along.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Specifically, aliens from the star system Sirius, which is the
- 30:33Speaker 2: same star system that beams new indie rock to my
- 30:36Speaker 2: car radio, which I really appreciate.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the star system where Howard Stern makes all
- 30:41Speaker 4: the hot four-tittied women just sit on Sibian machines in
- 30:45Speaker 4: zero gravity.
- 30:47Speaker 2: And yeah, this device was called the Montauk chair. A
- 30:50Speaker 2: psychically active person would be placed in the chair and
- 30:54Speaker 2: it would allow them to beam their thoughts to a
- 30:56Speaker 2: remote location.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Like ventriloquism of the brain.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Some sort of mega mind Jeff Dunham.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And these were allegedly people who had undergone rigorous training
- 31:08Speaker 2: through the CIA to reach an altered form of consciousness.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Yeah, to steal their personality against the terrors of radiational amplification.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Right. So a normal person couldn't just plop down in
- 31:24Speaker 2: the Montauk chair and start projecting their thoughts out to
- 31:28Speaker 2: other people.
- 31:28Speaker 3: I'd be too weak.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Don't even try it.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I'd be too weak because the things that I would
- 31:32Speaker 4: be imagining would be like, what if a bald guy
- 31:34Speaker 4: was eating your pussy and you rubbed his bald spot
- 31:36Speaker 4: and the magic eight ball thing showed up and said,
- 31:39Speaker 4: try again later. And that would appear. And then I'd
- 31:41Speaker 4: go insane because of how funny I thought it was.
- 31:43Speaker 4: And they'd be like, no, we need some more.
- 31:45Speaker 3: We need men made of sterner stuff than this McSpadden kid.
- 31:49Speaker 2: So this device allegedly focused on the primitive mind as
- 31:55Speaker 2: opposed to the conscious mind. It suppressed the conscious mind,
- 31:59Speaker 2: made the primitive mind more active and The primitive mind
- 32:01Speaker 2: is highly suggestible, very controllable, and tends to act by
- 32:05Speaker 2: focusing all its power on a subject, allowing for much
- 32:09Speaker 2: greater displays of power than the conscious mind. Literally, that's
- 32:13Speaker 2: how the secret works.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Is that just, you know, you're programming your caveman brain.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Your subconscious and your subconscious just brings all that shit
- 32:21Speaker 2: to you.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Which is like, I guess that's the part of
- 32:24Speaker 3: the brain that you can manipulate. It's just a hungry, horny, sleepy,
- 32:27Speaker 3: you know, corridor.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 4: That's not dealing with the esoteric nature of life and
- 32:31Speaker 4: death and all the stuff that we have the burden
- 32:33Speaker 4: of grappling with as more evolved forms of intelligence.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Yeah. But how do you make a USB cable that
- 32:42Speaker 3: goes in there and makes monsters real? That's where you'd
- 32:45Speaker 3: lose me.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Right. Elon Musk is working on it.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I hope so. I mean, I want to do something
- 32:50Speaker 3: fun in that super tunnel.
- 32:52Speaker 2: So after realizing the Montauk chair worked... at least in
- 32:56Speaker 2: terms of beaming thoughts to other places, researchers move on
- 33:00Speaker 2: to a new goal. They want to see if a
- 33:01Speaker 2: person can create a solid object out of thin air
- 33:05Speaker 2: using only their thoughts. And I did not put the
- 33:09Speaker 2: guy's name in the notes. Let me go find it.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Yeah, because that's when you can just imagine something and
- 33:16Speaker 4: just bewitched it, wiggle your nose into existence, which is like,
- 33:21Speaker 4: I guess with the most outlandish thing, just apparating physical
- 33:25Speaker 4: matter with your thoughts through some sort of.
- 33:29Speaker 3: 1980s radio dish.
- 33:31Speaker 4: You know, it seems like hacking into the Federal Reserve
- 33:35Speaker 4: with a Sega Genesis.
- 33:37Speaker 3: It seems impossible, you know, just on sight.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Duncan Cameron is the name of the guy who allegedly
- 33:43Speaker 2: was psychically active and did most of the Montauk experiments
- 33:49Speaker 2: from the Montauk. There's the Mr. Wolf that called in
- 33:52Speaker 2: when they needed the guy with the big brain.
- 33:54Speaker 5: Right.
- 33:55Speaker 4: You know, to come clean up the experiment or the
- 33:58Speaker 4: science or whatever.
- 33:59Speaker 2: And one of the things he is alleged to have
- 34:02Speaker 2: been able to do was to create objects just by
- 34:06Speaker 2: thinking hard enough. And they talk about, like, buildings being created.
- 34:11Speaker 2: And it's like, well, take a pic. It's like the
- 34:13Speaker 2: 70s by now. Yeah. snap a pic yeah.
- 34:16Speaker 3: We had film we had all this shit you know.
- 34:19Speaker 2: You should be able to document all of these things.
- 34:21Speaker 4: There should be a bunch of pictures of guys with
- 34:23Speaker 4: short sleeve white shirts and black ties with glasses and
- 34:25Speaker 4: flat tops going oh shit looks like we just became
- 34:28Speaker 4: god this is problematic.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Everyone's smoking yeah that's the main way to let people
- 34:33Speaker 2: know a workplace is a 70s workplace everyone's smoking.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Yeah there's a set designer adam todd brown here no
- 34:40Speaker 4: that is always the best is when you're like man
- 34:42Speaker 4: we were so good we could figure out how to
- 34:44Speaker 4: split an atom but we didn't know that inhaling fucking
- 34:47Speaker 4: fire all day it would be bad.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I'm old enough to have worked at a few places
- 34:51Speaker 2: where you could smoke at your.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Desk oh wow dude i did i had a telemarketing
- 34:56Speaker 5: job that was just in the perfect smoking job in
- 34:59Speaker 5: the back of a room of a like in the
- 35:01Speaker 5: back room of a storefront.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Yeah you're like you're next to crates of oranges you know.
- 35:06Speaker 2: People fucking smoking like crazy it was such a nightmare.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Oh man that sounds awesome just making calls doing a
- 35:13Speaker 4: line every that's your sales bell every time you actually
- 35:16Speaker 4: move yeah you fucking.
- 35:18Speaker 2: So yeah this guy was apparently able to create objects
- 35:23Speaker 2: out of thin air there was also the seeing eye
- 35:25Speaker 2: experiment in which a subject was given a lock of
- 35:28Speaker 2: hair or other object belonging to another person and if
- 35:32Speaker 2: they concentrated hard enough they'd be able to see and
- 35:35Speaker 2: hear everything that person could see and hear no matter
- 35:38Speaker 2: where that person.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Was yeah so you can kind of hack the uh
- 35:42Speaker 4: the webcam zuckerberg style of their brain Right.
- 35:45Speaker 2: And so naturally, the next step is going to be
- 35:48Speaker 2: time travel.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Of course, yeah.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Like, where else do you go? Once you're sending thoughts
- 35:52Speaker 2: across the dimensions, you're going to try and surf that
- 35:56Speaker 2: wave and go fucking make some sports gambling money, whatever.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Get your parents to fuck. I love that recently there's
- 36:05Speaker 2: been a... debate breaking out online about the idea of
- 36:09Speaker 2: going back in time and killing baby hitler oh yeah because.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Ben shapiro made some sort of pro-life thing about it
- 36:15Speaker 4: and that's i saw baby hitler trending and i'm like
- 36:17Speaker 4: we got nothing better to talk about.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah which i do get it because i don't i'd
- 36:21Speaker 2: i'd maybe kill like teen hitler.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Yeah but baby hitler would be a little that'd be like.
- 36:25Speaker 2: How would you do it like you have to think
- 36:27Speaker 2: about all the.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Fucking i don't know big rock i guess.
- 36:30Speaker 2: It'll just be a baby there in front of you
- 36:32Speaker 2: yeah uh.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Put them Maybe you steal them and adopt them and
- 36:37Speaker 3: try to raise them good.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Yeah, bring them back.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Get them in art school. Enroll them in that fucking
- 36:43Speaker 2: thing where you just have to draw Tippy the Turtle.
- 36:44Speaker 2: They'll take anybody.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you just... Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That fucking.
- 36:48Speaker 4: The Maury Povich Commercial Art College.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 3: It's like, if you can trace this tree, then you
- 36:53Speaker 3: can be Picasso.
- 36:55Speaker 2: I actually... I sent one of those in once. No,
- 36:58Speaker 2: fuck yeah. In my 20s, in this traveling salesman... showed up.
- 37:02Speaker 2: He had to be like 70 years old. Oh, sad.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I almost did it because I assume you do learn
- 37:08Speaker 2: some decent stuff about drawing.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I'm sure you do.
- 37:11Speaker 2: But it was like $ 150 a month and I did
- 37:13Speaker 2: not have that at that time. This was like late 90s.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I also sent one in when I was 8.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 2: And they were like, you're eight.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Keep it up, Slugger.
- 37:24Speaker 4: They send you that note that's supposed to go in
- 37:25Speaker 4: the back of your book about all your success later
- 37:28Speaker 4: on or whatever.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Because they would, when you sent those in, they would
- 37:30Speaker 2: actually give you notes and send it back to you. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 2: They were like, you're eight. You can't enroll. But also, like,
- 37:36Speaker 2: your shading here was off. It's like, fuck you, I'm eight.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Hey, remember where the light's coming from?
- 37:41Speaker 2: Coming out of my ass.
- 37:42Speaker 3: I don't even know fractions yet, dick.
- 37:45Speaker 2: So with the Montauk chair... They eventually turn it into
- 37:49Speaker 2: a time travel device.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 2: As the story goes.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Sure.
- 37:53Speaker 2: And subjects were able to open portals to any point
- 37:57Speaker 2: in history just by concentrating on the date they wanted
- 38:00Speaker 2: to go to.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Which again, if that's your like fucking GPS is just
- 38:04Speaker 4: thinking really hard about March 7th, 1955, that seems improbable.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Right. And with that, the project becomes Phoenix three. I
- 38:15Speaker 2: think they pushed the franchise one too far, if I'm
- 38:18Speaker 2: being honest.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Yeah, Bill and Ted's excellent teleportation adventure.
- 38:24Speaker 3: For sure.
- 38:25Speaker 2: And from 1981 to 1983, the project focuses solely on
- 38:30Speaker 2: exploring time itself.
- 38:32Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of meat on the bone there. You
- 38:33Speaker 4: could probably cover all the time in two years.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Researchers kidnapped large numbers of homeless people as test subjects.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Now, this part I believe. Yeah, that. This is right
- 38:43Speaker 3: out of the playbook.
- 38:44Speaker 2: And if the next sentence was, that's why deinstitutionalization happened,
- 38:48Speaker 2: because we needed this crop of homeless people that we could...
- 38:50Speaker 2: focus on this project.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Hey Reagan, could you free up some crazies?
- 38:55Speaker 2: I would 100% agree that that's probably what happened.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Can you cook the books a little bit on human
- 38:59Speaker 4: suffering so we can make a space chair?
- 39:02Speaker 2: Well, okay.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I'm Ronald Reagan and I'm in hell and I'm here
- 39:06Speaker 3: to tell you about bacon.
- 39:08Speaker 2: And crack.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Nothing tastes better than bacon.
- 39:11Speaker 2: So the researchers kidnap all these people and just send
- 39:16Speaker 2: them through time travel ports.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Imagine being homeless and then all of a sudden your
- 39:21Speaker 4: fucking Cleopatra has a scimitar at your throat.
- 39:25Speaker 3: And where did you get these garments you're wearing? And
- 39:28Speaker 3: he's good, but banana potato. He can't even talk to
- 39:30Speaker 3: anyone in his time.
- 39:32Speaker 2: But how many times have we read stories about a
- 39:34Speaker 2: homeless dude who gets arrested and police are like, he
- 39:36Speaker 2: said he was here from the year 2044.
- 39:40Speaker 4: I know it makes you think like, is, are they,
- 39:42Speaker 4: were we just Montauk and them all over the place?
- 39:45Speaker 3: Canaries in the coal mine of fucking time.
- 39:49Speaker 2: If they returned, they were to report on what they saw.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Most of them did not return.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Oh, no way.
- 39:56Speaker 2: So you're just stuck in a different time as a
- 39:59Speaker 2: homeless person, possibly in a time where they're like, what's
- 40:02Speaker 2: a homeless person?
- 40:03Speaker 4: No, you have to go to the only time it's
- 40:04Speaker 4: worse to be a homeless person, the past. Second worst
- 40:07Speaker 4: place is right now. Third worst place, fucking Magna Carta, England.
- 40:12Speaker 2: It's also claimed that large numbers of children, all males
- 40:16Speaker 2: between the age of 10 and 16, and all with
- 40:19Speaker 2: stereotypical Aryan traits, were sent to the year 6037 A.D.
- 40:25Speaker 2: to investigate a ruined city and, more specifically, a horse
- 40:30Speaker 2: statue that was there that's got to be Denver.
- 40:32Speaker 3: Got to be.
- 40:33Speaker 2: There's no other place. That has to be.
- 40:35Speaker 4: That's probably one of the biggest statues of a horse
- 40:37Speaker 4: in the world, for sure.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 40:39Speaker 5: You know?
- 40:39Speaker 2: And how comforting is that? That it's not till like 6,000
- 40:42Speaker 2: that we have to go fucking look into that thing?
- 40:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:45Speaker 4: I mean, like the idea that we still, if the
- 40:47Speaker 4: cities are crumbling at 4,000 years, that's a pretty good
- 40:50Speaker 4: run for us.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we did all right.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 2: But that's got, yeah, that's got to be Denver. That's
- 40:55Speaker 2: got to be War Horse. Good for you, War Horse.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Still standing in 6037.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Oh, absolutely.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Why didn't that thing collapse?
- 41:02Speaker 3: I mean, fucking, we're talking superior conspiracy engineering.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah. So let's talk about the end of the Montauk Project.
- 41:10Speaker 2: It finally ended August 12th, 1983.
- 41:13Speaker 3: When Yoko came around.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Which you'll note is August 12th is the date that
- 41:21Speaker 2: the original Philadelphia experiment happened in 1943.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Yeah, so they're into just clean 40-year anniversaries.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Like the Sgt. Pepper reissue 20 years ago today.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Look at that.
- 41:34Speaker 2: And on that date, a portal was opened that connected
- 41:37Speaker 2: Montauk Base with the USS Eldridge 40 years in the
- 41:41Speaker 2: past during the original Philadelphia experiment.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Sure.
- 41:45Speaker 2: And for some reason, it's at this point that people
- 41:48Speaker 2: working on the project became uncomfortable with its goals and
- 41:53Speaker 2: decided to throw a wrench in the gears. I can't
- 41:55Speaker 2: believe this story is about to get crazier. Oh, yeah. Like,
- 41:59Speaker 2: we're almost done. We've covered so much crazy shit, and
- 42:02Speaker 2: it's just about to get crazy.
- 42:04Speaker 4: We've already reached Ender's Game 5, even more homophobic edition.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Now it's like, where do we go? How do you escalate?
- 42:13Speaker 3: But they do it.
- 42:14Speaker 2: So when this wormhole opens to the original Philadelphia experiment,
- 42:20Speaker 2: someone on the base decides this is too much. We
- 42:23Speaker 2: have to shut it down. And the way they do
- 42:25Speaker 2: that is to whisper some unknown phrase into the ear
- 42:29Speaker 2: of Duncan Cameron, who is the one who had opened
- 42:32Speaker 2: this portal. And this code phrase caused Cameron to release
- 42:36Speaker 2: a monster from his subconscious. Yep. The creature, named the
- 42:42Speaker 2: Beast from the Id, materialized as a large, hairy monster
- 42:47Speaker 2: that smashed its way around the base and ate everything
- 42:51Speaker 2: in its path.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Now, if you can imagine 12-year-old me reading this and going,
- 42:55Speaker 3: it has to be true. And at this.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Point, project members start cutting cables and conduits in an
- 43:04Speaker 2: attempt to sever power to the base and shut down
- 43:08Speaker 2: the project.
- 43:08Speaker 4: I remember sending this exact story to this girl I
- 43:11Speaker 4: liked that I was emailing with. And she's like, what
- 43:13Speaker 4: are you doing over the summer? I was like, I've
- 43:14Speaker 4: been reading about this. No idea that that's not what
- 43:18Speaker 4: you sent to a girl you like.
- 43:21Speaker 2: And so once they're able to shut everything down, apparently
- 43:24Speaker 2: the monster disappears. I guess that was.
- 43:27Speaker 3: It goes back to the land of Id. Sure.
- 43:30Speaker 2: And a year later, a team of black berets, which
- 43:33Speaker 2: that just sounds ominous. Oh, yeah. We know the green
- 43:37Speaker 2: berets are the ones we always think of as the
- 43:38Speaker 2: good guys. What do the black berets do?
- 43:40Speaker 3: I mean, yeah.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Secret shit like this.
- 43:42Speaker 4: They're like fucking Section 31 in Star Trek. They do
- 43:46Speaker 4: all the sketchy shit.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Right. And they were sent into the Montauk base with
- 43:51Speaker 2: orders to shoot anything that moved. After that, they cleared
- 43:55Speaker 2: the base.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Unfortunately, this was after the Furby craze, and it led
- 43:59Speaker 4: to a lot of accidental deaths.
- 44:02Speaker 2: A second team moved in to remove any equipment deemed
- 44:05Speaker 2: too sensitive to abandon. The underground chambers were sealed and
- 44:08Speaker 2: eventually filled with cement. Base was abandoned and donated to
- 44:12Speaker 2: the state of New York as a park.
- 44:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and I remember the website that I was reading
- 44:16Speaker 4: back in the day was about this guy who's like,
- 44:18Speaker 4: I went hiking there, and I wish I had my camera,
- 44:20Speaker 4: but I swear to God, three black helicopters start hovering
- 44:25Speaker 4: right above me, and I start running away.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I was like, whoa.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Why wouldn't you take your camera, though?
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, man, I wish that guy had
- 44:31Speaker 3: his camera, because that's definitely real.
- 44:34Speaker 2: So, yeah, this is... I feel like most of the
- 44:38Speaker 2: information out of the last two episodes is mostly made up.
- 44:42Speaker 2: It feels that way. It feels.
- 44:44Speaker 4: dubious to even call it information.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Most of the.
- 44:48Speaker 4: It's fan fiction. This is government fan fiction. But it's
- 44:53Speaker 4: fucking cool. That would be cool.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we know the Montauk base is real.
- 44:59Speaker 2: It's out there.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Yeah, but is this what happened? Did they try to
- 45:02Speaker 4: do it? The most I would believe is that they
- 45:04Speaker 4: tried to do this. Some dumb shit thought they could
- 45:07Speaker 4: do this.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and I wouldn't doubt that we have some of
- 45:10Speaker 2: our radar dodging technology that we have now. out of
- 45:14Speaker 2: experiments like this, but.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah. There's all kinds of stuff with that. That's
- 45:18Speaker 3: all very real. Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 2: But the time travel thing, the Montauk chair, it just
- 45:23Speaker 2: all sounds a little crazy. Yeah.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Just bringing things into being that.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:27Speaker 4: I mean, that's just stuff that I like, I don't
- 45:29Speaker 4: think you can do that with a, you know, a
- 45:32Speaker 4: computer as powerful as, you know, a fucking dreamcast. I
- 45:35Speaker 4: think you got to have something a little bit stronger.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Like I, I just don't think like, you know, there's
- 45:40Speaker 4: certain things where it's like, oh, we're definitely way further along,
- 45:42Speaker 4: but it's like, If you could do this.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Back then, some guy.
- 45:46Speaker 4: with a raspberry pie and a neck beard would have
- 45:49Speaker 4: figured it out now.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Right. We'd have a version of it.
- 45:52Speaker 3: For sure.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Maybe that's what the 3D printer is.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Yeah, you'd be able to bit torrent some sort of
- 45:55Speaker 4: teleportation mod for your Steam account or something.
- 45:58Speaker 2: What if every 3D printer is connected to some fucking
- 46:01Speaker 2: dude sitting in a Montauk chair who's just like, no!
- 46:05Speaker 3: Just shitting out little fucking Tamagotchi trinkets.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Fucking printing out Homer Simpson statues and shit.
- 46:10Speaker 3: He just farts and then some guys are gone. You're like, oh, okay.
- 46:13Speaker 3: I guess that's where it comes from.
- 46:14Speaker 2: So that's the Montauk Project and the Philadelphia Experiment. That's
- 46:20Speaker 2: our episode.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a fun one.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 4: I like the ones that aren't real so you don't
- 46:25Speaker 4: have to feel too terrified.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Right. It doesn't make me afraid to walk outside.
- 46:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it doesn't make me afraid of dust reading my
