- 1:55Speaker 4: Former teammate, former teammate. If you're yeah, yeah, talk to
- 1:59Speaker 4: me about your time, Drew, We rock for good. We
- 2:02Speaker 4: had a strong ten days.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a couple of times after practice I'll go
- 2:06Speaker 4: trying to make some conversation with him. He's taking some
- 2:08Speaker 4: business calls. We'll catch you later. Yeah, we'll talk shop later.
- 2:11Speaker 3: But the effort was put in there.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, effort was put in there. Yeah. Yeah. We
- 2:16Speaker 4: enjoyed some hot a couple of hot tub moments I
- 2:18Speaker 4: had with him and taste. I'm thinking, Drew Brees, you're
- 2:22Speaker 4: in there. Got a couple of laughs. One of the
- 2:26Speaker 4: one of the days they were talking about or we
- 2:28Speaker 4: were talking about how Taysom Hill could squat like over
- 2:31Speaker 4: six hundred pounds, which is, did you insane? I I
- 2:35Speaker 4: haven't got see it because we were in we were
- 2:36Speaker 4: in we were in training camp. You know, Brian back
- 2:40Speaker 4: into training camp too.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Uh.
- 2:42Speaker 4: But everybody was talking about how Taysom Hill could squad
- 2:44Speaker 4: over six hundred punds And I'm sitting there like that
- 2:46Speaker 4: is that is insane for him, all the positions he plays.
- 2:49Speaker 4: JP said it maybe the greatest athlete, maybe the greatest
- 2:52Speaker 4: football player, pure football player of all time. Uh, but
- 2:55Speaker 4: the squad over six hundred pounds is ridiculous, disgusting.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is the origin story these ten days
- 3:01Speaker 3: is when your back started.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Correct, No, my back started Raiders. That was later that
- 3:08Speaker 4: year year.
- 3:10Speaker 3: So you're sitting there at the time thinking, man, I
- 3:11Speaker 3: just put some win on my back to take some hill.
- 3:13Speaker 3: If you can do six, I can at least three hundred.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah. I could get three hundred at that time, easy.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Maybe four? Yeah, I could get four.
- 3:20Speaker 3: If you're if you were going and you did a
- 3:22Speaker 3: full warm up, core engage the whole thing Dobson would
- 3:25Speaker 3: do with the legs. How much do you think you
- 3:27Speaker 3: could squat.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Right now today? Oh, I wouldn't. Okay, hypothetically, I'm saying
- 3:33Speaker 4: I wouldn't, like I couldn't.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah, because your back would be fucked up the next day.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I'm saying, like, totally warmed up, hypothetical, what can your
- 3:40Speaker 3: legs handle today?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Once?
- 3:46Speaker 3: Ten times?
- 3:46Speaker 4: Bro Like, my back hurts when there's a bar on
- 3:50Speaker 4: my back, Like I it doesn't matter how warmed up
- 3:52Speaker 4: I get. There is pain in my low back when
- 3:56Speaker 4: there's a bar on my shoulders.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Okay, I'm sorry for asking the question.
- 4:00Speaker 4: You kept trying to reward it like I'm just supersing
- 4:02Speaker 4: no matter what different world it hurts. I'm a goblet squader.
- 4:06Speaker 4: I hold a dumb bell in front of my chest.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Hell yeah, seventy pounds.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Oh see, big dog stuff.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Yeah? Some would yeah, some could say big dogs. Some
- 4:14Speaker 4: could say like, man, he's really fell off because in
- 4:17Speaker 4: Nebraska I was over five hundred. I was an over
- 4:20Speaker 4: five hundred guy.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Now we are shooting the Bus with the Boys episode
- 4:25Speaker 3: before we'd their weekend recap, so we're not really into
- 4:28Speaker 3: the whole Nebraska. I think we haven't got your thoughts
- 4:30Speaker 3: on it. Should we wait?
- 4:31Speaker 4: No, it's just a weekend recap. We're gonna wait for
- 4:33Speaker 4: people out here that are listening right now. Obviously, my
- 4:36Speaker 4: weekend kicked off with the Nebraska el on Friday night.
- 4:38Speaker 4: You can check all that stuff out. We covered it
- 4:40Speaker 4: on the football recap show that came out yesterday. We
- 4:43Speaker 4: talked all things football on the recap show that drops
- 4:45Speaker 4: on Mondays. Here we're here for some more fun, get
- 4:48Speaker 4: some good interviews, talk some spooky stuff, catch up in
- 4:51Speaker 4: the old Chad Powers, maybe some shout out, no free shoutouts,
- 4:53Speaker 4: some pet peeves feel has been begging for those segments
- 4:56Speaker 4: to come back. The tier talk we have going on.
- 5:00Speaker 4: But yeah, how was let's start off. Let's go ahead
- 5:02Speaker 4: and start. You wanna start with my weekend? Your weekend?
- 5:04Speaker 3: What do we go ahead? Youre already talking.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Listen. We all saw what happened Friday night. We talked
- 5:09Speaker 4: about that yesterday, and.
- 5:12Speaker 5: We're gonna talk about it again.
- 5:14Speaker 4: There we go again. We ain't gotta talking about it.
- 5:17Speaker 4: We're all eyes on Northwestern and.
- 5:19Speaker 3: We'll say this too, could be a positive long term
- 5:22Speaker 3: for Nebraska.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah right, I'm thinking about Northwestern, got you so.
- 5:27Speaker 3: For us on this bus that's not thinking about Northwestern
- 5:31Speaker 3: could be a positive. But time about the weekend, dude,
- 5:33Speaker 3: Vanda game fans.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Great, it was a It was a great weekend. Weirdly, weird, fun, great,
- 5:38Speaker 4: all mixed together. Saturday, we went to uh myself, Charrow
- 5:42Speaker 4: and Rue. We went to the Vandy game. We went
- 5:44Speaker 4: to the Fall Don't Light Tour with Josh pat They
- 5:46Speaker 4: were out there at Vanderbilt for Vandy LSU and I
- 5:49Speaker 4: told you, guys, I said this yesterday, but I've been
- 5:52Speaker 4: I've been telling everybody that LSU was a bunch of frauds.
- 5:55Speaker 4: And we got to see it in person. We got
- 5:56Speaker 4: to see it in real time. Cad McConnell. That clip
- 5:59Speaker 4: of Cad mcconne going around where he body bags a
- 6:01Speaker 4: couple of guys.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Uh.
- 6:02Speaker 4: But we had a lot of fun. Got to meet
- 6:05Speaker 4: Josh Pate's wife, Savannah, just a wonderful person. Had a
- 6:08Speaker 4: lot of fun.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Rue.
- 6:09Speaker 4: She's still out on mascots, doesn't fuck with him and
- 6:11Speaker 4: Tiger tried coming up and messing with her. I'm like, hey,
- 6:14Speaker 4: are their pay of little stuffed animals a tiger? She
- 6:16Speaker 4: calls him Tiger and I'm like, hey, Tiger, there's there's
- 6:19Speaker 4: Tiger's big brother right there, Like he wants a high five.
- 6:21Speaker 4: And stuff like that, and Rude's stoneface like just like
- 6:25Speaker 4: you know, slowly looks over at me like that, what
- 6:27Speaker 4: am I supposed to do here? I'm like, hey, she
- 6:28Speaker 4: ain't about it, She ain't about the Yeah, she's not
- 6:30Speaker 4: about the mascots situat Yeah, yeah, you want to get
- 6:34Speaker 4: my high five, you know how you're like demonstrating it
- 6:35Speaker 4: in front of her, like, hey, he's good people, She's
- 6:37Speaker 4: not having it. Wasn't about it, And that.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Is one of my kid's fault, that your child has
- 6:43Speaker 3: that fear.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Ye, yeah, yeah, she's scared of masks. She's scared of mascots,
- 6:49Speaker 4: like anything that's a little too big or demonstrative. She's
- 6:53Speaker 4: not about it. The Michael Myers is really what tipped
- 6:56Speaker 4: her over sideways on finding that mask back in the
- 6:59Speaker 4: closet and then yeah, and just popping up in front
- 7:01Speaker 4: of her face with the mask.
- 7:02Speaker 3: How to train your dragon masks? It just gets in
- 7:04Speaker 3: her face and starts pushing it around. It was over.
- 7:07Speaker 3: It was over from that moment. And yeah, we're will
- 7:10Speaker 3: and I are sending the bean bags. I'm just like
- 7:12Speaker 3: gotta feel guilty. My child. Ain't nothing you can do,
- 7:16Speaker 3: but yeah, being kids, right, when's done it to her sister,
- 7:21Speaker 3: she kind of just takes it in. We're all about
- 7:23Speaker 3: the spookiness in this household. But go ahead.
- 7:25Speaker 4: We had a We had a great day at Vanderbilt.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Shout out to staff at Vanderbilt. They did a great
- 7:28Speaker 4: job hosting us. We had all some seats, we had
- 7:30Speaker 4: some pre game field passes. Sunday, Bill Compton is now married.
- 7:35Speaker 4: My dad got married, So we made a we made
- 7:39Speaker 4: a trip out there. Saturday night. We had a stream.
- 7:42Speaker 4: This was on Sunday, Saturday night. We had a stream Tennessee, Alabama.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I'm sure we'll get into that once we get the
- 7:46Speaker 4: boys involved. But Sunday flew out. Old man got married.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Uh so got to make it, you know, got to
- 7:52Speaker 4: go out there Old Farmington, bond Ter, Missouri, see some
- 7:54Speaker 4: friendly faces, some some familiar faces, and then we flew back.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Puked on the plane. That was abysmal. I'm talking Team
- 8:04Speaker 4: America Exorcism style. Oh shit, I almost started puking. It smelled, yeah,
- 8:09Speaker 4: it was. She she she like she was like leaning
- 8:11Speaker 4: back and then she puked on herself and we're like
- 8:13Speaker 4: it's okay, and then she just starts puking in the
- 8:15Speaker 4: middle and it's everywhere. Yeah, you know, Charles trying to
- 8:18Speaker 4: say it's all right, sweetheart, I'm going, oh my.
- 8:20Speaker 3: God, this is a couple's retreat. When Vince Bond's with
- 8:25Speaker 3: this kid and he poops in the toilet and he goes,
- 8:27Speaker 3: we don't got to say nothing to the flight attendant.
- 8:29Speaker 4: We know this was a bad deal. Yeah, this one
- 8:31Speaker 4: smells everywhere. It's brutal. Fly back that day and then
- 8:36Speaker 4: take the wife. We go to Dermot Kennedy concert. Any
- 8:39Speaker 4: Dermot Kennedy fans on this bus. I know of him,
- 8:43Speaker 4: great artist. Oh hang on, I'm pretty sure.
- 8:46Speaker 5: One of the first times we met, you were like,
- 8:49Speaker 5: of course you're trying to clown on me and you
- 8:51Speaker 5: were playing your music. He were like, I bet this
- 8:53Speaker 5: is the type of shit you like. And you turned
- 8:54Speaker 5: on Durmke Kennedy.
- 8:57Speaker 4: He stays on the playlist.
- 8:58Speaker 5: He's good.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Charles was obsessed with Dermot Kennedy. I've always liked her
- 9:02Speaker 4: mott and getting to watch him in person, it was
- 9:05Speaker 4: it was all time, very powerful, very powerful voice. At
- 9:08Speaker 4: the Riemann he started to do some uh you know
- 9:11Speaker 4: where they'll like take the mic away and he's just
- 9:13Speaker 4: singing to the crowd, like both of the artists, the
- 9:15Speaker 4: guy who covered for him halfway are then not the
- 9:18Speaker 4: guy who went out who opened for him, not covered
- 9:21Speaker 4: for him, open for him. Both of them did. Like
- 9:23Speaker 4: the acoustic version where they're singing to the crowd, very intimate.
- 9:26Speaker 4: It was awesome. He's awesome. Dermot Kennedy was awesome and
- 9:30Speaker 4: so yeah, very jam packed weekend, very fun weekend all
- 9:35Speaker 4: in all, four point five nice. Yeah, all right, not bad, ye,
- 9:39Speaker 4: not bad.
- 9:40Speaker 3: My weekend phenomenal. Well, obviously we do the stream Thursday
- 9:44Speaker 3: night wake up. Early last year before the Northwestern game,
- 9:48Speaker 3: I took a win to a Michion game, her first
- 9:51Speaker 3: Mission game. We did the whole thing like it's a
- 9:53Speaker 3: it's a true brainwashing experience when you do with your children,
- 9:56Speaker 3: because it's like you land, there's no nose on the weekend,
- 9:59Speaker 3: it's you want candy, go ahead, Yes, we go to Benny's.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Benny's there. He's like Albanian or something, but he's all
- 10:06Speaker 3: about letting the kids do. He's like got the kids
- 10:08Speaker 3: in the back room, like making their own pancakes, making
- 10:11Speaker 3: their own hot chocolate. He's just bringing out food over
- 10:13Speaker 3: and over again. He's bringing out like shots of like
- 10:16Speaker 3: scotch that he's got in the back. It's like, this
- 10:18Speaker 3: is a diner, Denny, Like, Benny, what are we doing?
- 10:20Speaker 3: So the same thing takes place this weekend. Willow is
- 10:24Speaker 3: juiced up, like five six days before. I'm showing her
- 10:28Speaker 3: all the things we're gonna do. I'm pulling up photos
- 10:29Speaker 3: of the m Den, I'm pulling up photos of the
- 10:31Speaker 3: diag all that, like the central campus area. And she's like,
- 10:34Speaker 3: can't sleep two nights before, can't sleep the night before
- 10:37Speaker 3: we get on the plane. She's fired up, just me
- 10:39Speaker 3: and her and we land. Dave was essentially our chauffeur
- 10:43Speaker 3: for the entire weekend. We go in the first place
- 10:45Speaker 3: we go to is Benny's. Get right there, you guys
- 10:48Speaker 3: all been there. We go around the corner, Yeah, sitting
- 10:51Speaker 3: that back booth. Benny's got Willow making her own hot
- 10:55Speaker 3: hot chocolate. He brings out pancakes, brings out hot dogs,
- 10:58Speaker 3: brings out this little cheese plate that he sets on
- 11:00Speaker 3: fire in front of Willow like it's a five star
- 11:01Speaker 3: Michelin Michelin star restaurant and it was awesome. Will stuffs
- 11:05Speaker 3: her face. Then we go to vm Den and Willow
- 11:09Speaker 3: was when I'm looking at Sugar the Mden photos earlier
- 11:12Speaker 3: in the week, she sees a cheerleading outfit and she
- 11:14Speaker 3: is gassed up on the cheerleading off it. She like
- 11:17Speaker 3: she wants it, she needs it as bad as she
- 11:18Speaker 3: wants to breathe. So we get there. They don't have
- 11:20Speaker 3: her size, and it's like We've gotten the stuffed animals.
- 11:24Speaker 3: We got Mama mug, we got Sissia mug, we got
- 11:27Speaker 3: key chains, we got the whole thing, like everything's Michigan
- 11:29Speaker 3: Wolf Rain. But if we don't get this fucking cheerleading outfit,
- 11:33Speaker 3: essentially this weekend is ruined. We go in the back,
- 11:36Speaker 3: some guy helps us out, We sift through, we find
- 11:38Speaker 3: this seven and eight. We get this onesie dress thing
- 11:41Speaker 3: that is that is like the cheerleading off it. She
- 11:43Speaker 3: is over the moon immediately as soon as we buy it.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Can I wear it? Can I wear? It's like, let's
- 11:47Speaker 3: just wait till tomorrow because it's kind of chilling. I'm thinking,
- 11:50Speaker 3: I don't think. I don't think Willow is gonna be
- 11:52Speaker 3: able to wear this during the game and not be freezing.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Turns out of a seventy five degrees. It was absolutely beautiful.
- 11:58Speaker 3: After that, Pat Collin, friend of us. We go to
- 12:02Speaker 3: his house, do s'mores, We do a little bonfire. We
- 12:05Speaker 3: got spooky stuff everywhere. We got seasonal beverages, very nice, intimate,
- 12:09Speaker 3: like spooky, his wife, both kids, Willow, it was awesome,
- 12:14Speaker 3: bags of candy. And then the next day get the
- 12:17Speaker 3: outfit on. I'm looking at the weather. It's like, all right,
- 12:19Speaker 3: it's gonna be good. Willow does not care about watching
- 12:21Speaker 3: the football game at all, could not care less. We're
- 12:24Speaker 3: on the sideline. She's asked me where the cheerleaders? Like
- 12:26Speaker 3: when are the cheerleaders gonna be here?
- 12:28Speaker 4: Gotta go get the flame?
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah, got and so we got a bunch of photos.
- 12:31Speaker 3: First cheerleaders pop up. I'm like, guys, can you please
- 12:34Speaker 3: take a photo of my daughter? They give her the
- 12:35Speaker 3: pom poms. They're very sweet to her. Willow is grinning
- 12:38Speaker 3: ear to ear on it. And as we're going around
- 12:40Speaker 3: to get our seats, some Stafford, because Willow's under eighteen,
- 12:43Speaker 3: obviously like, hey, she can't be down here if she's
- 12:45Speaker 3: under eighteen. So we near your seats. While we're going there,
- 12:48Speaker 3: Stafford sees some more cheerleaders. Willows like, we're not going
- 12:50Speaker 3: anywhere to get photos with these guys as well, get
- 12:53Speaker 3: the photo done, get up in the stands. We end
- 12:56Speaker 3: up sitting in like gen pop area, which is the
- 12:58Speaker 3: view is nice because we're like twenty five rows back
- 13:01Speaker 3: so I can see the whole field. I can see
- 13:03Speaker 3: what kind of personnel we're in. I'm like dialed in.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Problem is a lot of people want to get photos,
- 13:10Speaker 3: want to talk about anything other than Michigan football that's
- 13:14Speaker 3: going on, anything else with Will there, with Willow there,
- 13:17Speaker 3: They're trying to get photos. I'm like, a right, will
- 13:19Speaker 3: you stand by grandpa.
- 13:19Speaker 4: For a second. People were like you know what I mean,
- 13:22Speaker 4: like kind of see, kind of be like, hey, just
- 13:24Speaker 4: quick photo. I expect what you do.
- 13:26Speaker 3: And with eighty percent of the people were very aware
- 13:30Speaker 3: of well, hey, I know you're.
- 13:30Speaker 4: With your family.
- 13:31Speaker 3: You might if I get a quick photo and I
- 13:33Speaker 3: get the quick photo, They're like, so man, espn huh yeah, man,
- 13:37Speaker 3: it's sick. We have a lot of fun and we
- 13:39Speaker 3: go to the expert. So, man, how's will doing? Is
- 13:41Speaker 3: he dead? It's like, yeah, I think I think he's
- 13:44Speaker 3: gonna be like text him last night. He didn't text
- 13:45Speaker 3: me back, but I know that's the sad right now,
- 13:47Speaker 3: you know, so like those are the conversations taking place.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Then it's like I'm sitting in these stands and I'm
- 13:52Speaker 3: trying to watch a football game. Will it wants a pretzel? Great,
- 13:54Speaker 3: we'll get a pretzel. Will it wants popcorn? Grandpa will
- 13:56Speaker 3: take you to get some popcorn. Well, like you guys
- 13:58Speaker 3: will dial it in. Finally, I sit there and I
- 14:01Speaker 3: think my phone. I'm like, you want to play some
- 14:03Speaker 3: you want to look at Addy's photos on this camera?
- 14:05Speaker 3: And I had to give her. I had to put
- 14:07Speaker 3: the phone on her so I could watch the game.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Look back at these this older couple. I'm like, this
- 14:11Speaker 3: is great parenting, am I right? They're like anyway to
- 14:12Speaker 3: get it done. And we watched the game the first half.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I mean we broke it all down in the weekend recap,
- 14:18Speaker 3: but overall four point five man Sunday, Yeah, Sunday, I
- 14:23Speaker 3: get home. We get home Saturday night. Do we do
- 14:25Speaker 3: this stream Sunday? Tayling has a for nature nurture. She
- 14:28Speaker 3: has like this farmer's market and she takes the kids
- 14:31Speaker 3: does like you know, child labor laws. We probably get
- 14:34Speaker 3: see an s called on us. She has them audishing
- 14:36Speaker 3: out seeds to everybody, and the kids sold like two
- 14:38Speaker 3: hundred dollars in seeds, so yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Yeah, they'd Taylor texted me.
- 14:43Speaker 3: She's like, I just told the kids to take these
- 14:45Speaker 3: seeds and ask people to buy them, and it worked.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Sold out, sold out of the seeds. So shout out
- 14:49Speaker 3: Tailing and her business savvy.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Yeah, we're not really selling any seeds. You know what,
- 14:54Speaker 4: we got to activate the kid out right, We activated
- 14:56Speaker 4: get out there, started going go ask go ass adults
- 14:58Speaker 4: to buy them. They won't say know to.
- 15:00Speaker 3: You, dude. When I was eight, my mom used to
- 15:02Speaker 3: work at this place called Harold's in Cave Creek and
- 15:04Speaker 3: she wanted to teach me the value of a dollar.
- 15:06Speaker 3: So I bust boyed with her for a day, made
- 15:08Speaker 3: like two hundred dollars, and that day just sat there
- 15:10Speaker 3: and talked to the older people. So in the middle
- 15:12Speaker 3: of winter, so all the snowbirds were there. Didn't understand
- 15:14Speaker 3: the value. After that, I was like, eat money's easy.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Money's a joke, dude. This is the easiest thing in
- 15:20Speaker 3: the world to get eight years old. My homes like,
- 15:21Speaker 3: god damn it, but yeah, man, awesome weekend next weekend.
- 15:27Speaker 3: First time ever kids are going to disney World. That'd
- 15:29Speaker 3: be fine gooing at disney World.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Next Fast Spookie season.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we're doing the same thing we did at the
- 15:34Speaker 3: We got the tour guide for the like at the
- 15:36Speaker 3: Pro Bowl, where it's like they kind of you get
- 15:38Speaker 3: to hop there's like the fast past above the fast past,
- 15:40Speaker 3: that's above the fast pass thing. And then we got
- 15:43Speaker 3: Mickey Mouse's Not So Spooky Halloween kids are I'm so excited.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I might be more excited than them. They don't understand
- 15:49Speaker 3: what they're about to see. It's gonna be awesome. So
- 15:52Speaker 3: action packs, spooktober Core, Memory Weekend Loading, Yes, absolutely. Two
- 15:56Speaker 3: For Willow in a row, we're getting on the plane
- 15:58Speaker 3: to go back. She's like, when can we come back
- 16:00Speaker 3: to Michigan and then she keeps saying this bullshit to me. Honest,
- 16:04Speaker 3: it's a miracle Michigan one.
- 16:07Speaker 6: What do you mean?
- 16:08Speaker 3: She's I just can't believe we won. I'm like, all right, Willo.
- 16:13Speaker 3: But we get home and win. Wanted to rewatch the game,
- 16:15Speaker 3: the highlights, so we put it up on the YouTube
- 16:17Speaker 3: TV like kids are dialed right now.
- 16:19Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 16:19Speaker 3: The Yeah, we're definitely brainwashing the shit out of him
- 16:22Speaker 3: right now. It's all Yeah, it's going exactly how he want. Sure,
- 16:25Speaker 3: it's going exactly how you want.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I might have to make I just until the
- 16:30Speaker 4: opportunity comes, like rude. Now has been two years in
- 16:32Speaker 4: a row to Vandy games, Vandy dubbs. Wait was it
- 16:35Speaker 4: a double last year against Texas? Close loss? That's right?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Competitive ball games in Vandy. Ye, yeah, diego Pavia. Her
- 16:44Speaker 3: favorite player, Kate McConnell.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah, Kate McConnell, for sure.
- 16:48Speaker 6: Kate.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I hated you know, I know he listens to all
- 16:50Speaker 4: of our stuff, so I know he's listening right now.
- 16:52Speaker 4: But we were bummed we didn't get a flick. I
- 16:55Speaker 4: was in on the end zone side, but it was
- 16:56Speaker 4: LSU and we kind of got there fifteen minutes before
- 16:58Speaker 4: the game. Send me up after. He's like, bro, I
- 17:01Speaker 4: literally He's like, I looked everywhere and I couldn't find you,
- 17:04Speaker 4: and I I kind of told him. He said, they
- 17:06Speaker 4: told me you were going to be on the newly
- 17:08Speaker 4: renovated in. I was like, no, I was on the
- 17:09Speaker 4: OG and he's like, I probably looked like an insane
- 17:12Speaker 4: person going around. He's like, after we won the game
- 17:15Speaker 4: where we like scored a touch on. He's like, I'm
- 17:16Speaker 4: going up and looking around everywhere to see if we
- 17:18Speaker 4: can I can find you because I knew you were
- 17:19Speaker 4: bringing the fan.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Damn I know.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I said, don't worry, we'll come to another game.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Bro.
- 17:23Speaker 4: We got to get to his face, well about what
- 17:26Speaker 4: going to another game? Well, we can probably make another game.
- 17:28Speaker 4: They got a couple, they got some more. They got
- 17:30Speaker 4: a game day this weekend. One of my best friends,
- 17:34Speaker 4: Brad Lebron. You guys know the Biscuit, He's getting married.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out Brad.
- 17:39Speaker 4: But also but also yeah, football season wedding and it's
- 17:44Speaker 4: on Sunday, and it's in New York. Yes, listen, it's
- 17:49Speaker 4: his day. They should be selfish. But what a selfish
- 17:52Speaker 4: prick move.
- 17:52Speaker 5: I feel like you've been screwed on a lot of
- 17:54Speaker 5: Sunday weddings.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Yes, bro, I mean this will be two in a row. Yeah,
- 17:59Speaker 4: I'm oh, man like, hey, I listen, I get it,
- 18:01Speaker 4: but you I ain't want to come to this Sunday.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah on a Sunday. I'll miss is some football right now, dude, I.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Know everyone's always talks about the weather. It's like spring
- 18:13Speaker 3: has the same thing. They got the same weather.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Is super nice. It's just in the Missouri one didn't
- 18:20Speaker 4: didn't bother me as much because it's it's close. But
- 18:24Speaker 4: New York when you're you know you're from Missouri. I
- 18:27Speaker 4: guess she's out from the northeast. But Jesus, why are
- 18:30Speaker 4: we doing it out in New York? And they got married,
- 18:33Speaker 4: they got engaged and stuff not too long ago, like
- 18:35Speaker 4: they put it together fast.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Brad lea broad you have it himself a wedding in Salem,
- 18:41Speaker 3: New York. Yeah, yeah, pretty incredible love love Brad great
- 18:45Speaker 3: got the biscuit. He he shot me a text with
- 18:47Speaker 3: love if you came. Blah blah blah. I'm not gonna
- 18:48Speaker 3: be able to make it. Disney World, Disney World, Disney World.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Will and I sat in the play and I was like,
- 18:53Speaker 3: I kind of feel bad. I'm not gonna make He
- 18:54Speaker 3: say you ain't gotta go, and he's like, pissed off
- 18:56Speaker 3: about you and gotta go. That's like one of my
- 18:58Speaker 3: best friends. I have to go self.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Brad Well, it was more Yeah I did say that,
- 19:02Speaker 4: but I'm also thinking, like, yeah, in your situation, I
- 19:04Speaker 4: wouldn't I wouldn't go.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I do love Brad though, and I know that, like
- 19:08Speaker 3: I know Brad's personality, and so like I just would
- 19:11Speaker 3: I know that the next time I see Brad, He's
- 19:13Speaker 3: gonna say something the next time and the next time
- 19:14Speaker 3: and the next time, and it'll follow me for a
- 19:16Speaker 3: few years. Yeah, And I just think, like, yeah, I'm
- 19:19Speaker 3: gonna have to deal with those bullets because my family
- 19:20Speaker 3: and I were gonna go to Disney World. Yeah, great guy,
- 19:23Speaker 3: I'll get him a gift. I probably won't get him
- 19:25Speaker 3: a gift, but I'll text him, Hey, congratulations on your
- 19:27Speaker 3: on your marriage. That's amazing.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Should we get into uh tear talk? Do we want
- 19:31Speaker 4: shout outs? Pet peas? Where we want to go?
- 19:34Speaker 3: Let's bring back shout out real quick.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Shout out, no free shout out, Yeah, I uh.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Do you mind? Go ahead shout out, no free shout out,
- 19:43Speaker 3: pilot Bob shout out, no free shout out. Pilots that
- 19:47Speaker 3: you think, no matter what happens, I'm safe. The pilot
- 19:50Speaker 3: we had from being a to titoborough thank you, Thank
- 19:55Speaker 3: you fly House and JJ at Flyhouse. This guy gets on.
- 19:58Speaker 3: He's old, he's probably what in the seventies. Yeah, he's
- 20:00Speaker 3: got over thirty thousand hours of flying. I think he
- 20:03Speaker 3: was in Vietnam.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Two tours in Vietnam, four tours in Afghanistan boom, and
- 20:08Speaker 4: he's just generational.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Flight face talks to us. He's one of those calm stoic,
- 20:13Speaker 3: like you know, older gentlemen that just like make you
- 20:15Speaker 3: feel safe no matter what we get done. We fly
- 20:18Speaker 3: in at Teeterborough, goes a little windy out there, but
- 20:20Speaker 3: now now the the risky part happens. You guys have
- 20:23Speaker 3: to drive like he just knows like flying he is
- 20:26Speaker 3: it does not matter what happens on that airplane. He's
- 20:28Speaker 3: gonna take care of business when we get back. Dude,
- 20:31Speaker 3: He's like, hey, glad to have you guys back. He
- 20:33Speaker 3: starts showing me his mother was a World War two
- 20:36Speaker 3: pilot who was one of the only women World War
- 20:38Speaker 3: two pilots who would take bombs and try to take
- 20:41Speaker 3: out submarines and fly like really low. She's like, she's
- 20:44Speaker 3: this is the only woman pilot to do this, like
- 20:46Speaker 3: Medal of honor type stuff like it was. This is
- 20:49Speaker 3: as we're getting on the flight to come back to Nashville,
- 20:52Speaker 3: and so you sit there and I always usually fall
- 20:56Speaker 3: asleep on flights anyway, but there's always a PCU. That's
- 20:58Speaker 3: like what if? And then you're no, I'm not gonna
- 21:00Speaker 3: go there, and you go to sleep. This was one
- 21:02Speaker 3: of those things where it's at the blanket put over
- 21:04Speaker 3: my head and knocked out for pretty much your entire flight.
- 21:06Speaker 6: You said he has thirty thousand hours.
- 21:08Speaker 3: He said, he yeah, because I remember saying, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 3: you're an outlier three times over, and he's like.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Yeah, that's over three years of life.
- 21:15Speaker 4: Of Yeah, that's just he gets in the air. He
- 21:20Speaker 4: loves me in the air.
- 21:22Speaker 3: You could tell what we're on ground. It's like you
- 21:24Speaker 3: see someone with their sea legs. He won't really, he didn't.
- 21:26Speaker 3: He's got air legs.
- 21:27Speaker 6: He spent three He's like, spent three years of his
- 21:29Speaker 6: life in air, Which.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Isn't that crazy? Just crazy? Shout out no free, shout
- 21:33Speaker 4: out gushers man, Hell, yeah, you know what. Yeah, got
- 21:38Speaker 4: my hands on some red gushers yesterday. I kind of
- 21:40Speaker 4: saw him. I kind of saw him. I gave him
- 21:43Speaker 4: a pack. That's actually I think that's probably why she
- 21:46Speaker 4: ended up throwing up. But I was like, hey, rude,
- 21:49Speaker 4: this is one of the dead's favorite snacks. Back in
- 21:50Speaker 4: the day, we got you some gushers, go ahead, try
- 21:52Speaker 4: you out some of those so shout out, uh, shout
- 21:54Speaker 4: out gushers, shout out no free shutdow.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Would you get your hands some gushers at this wedding
- 21:58Speaker 3: were they so just on.
- 21:59Speaker 4: The plane's nats on the plane and.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah what a plane?
- 22:05Speaker 4: What everyone at flyhouse? You flyhouse?
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's beautiful.
- 22:13Speaker 4: The only way to make it like we had the
- 22:15Speaker 4: stream on Saturday night we had we were having We
- 22:18Speaker 4: don't have a childcare, so we had to take the
- 22:21Speaker 4: kids with us. If you're flying in from Nashville to
- 22:25Speaker 4: Saint Louis, it was gonna be that's an hour away
- 22:28Speaker 4: from uh where the wedding would be. The flights didn't
- 22:31Speaker 4: work on flying out the morning of without like a
- 22:35Speaker 4: without like a connecting flight, and it's like you got
- 22:39Speaker 4: to take both kids with you for and we needed
- 22:41Speaker 4: to get back for the Dermok Kennedy concert that we
- 22:43Speaker 4: had booked forever trying to go to London in the summer.
- 22:46Speaker 4: We just couldn't make it happen. She's actually going to
- 22:48Speaker 4: London this week with Rue on a mother daughter trip.
- 22:50Speaker 4: They're going for like five days in London. They leave.
- 22:53Speaker 4: We're recording on Monday, they leave tonight, but we were
- 22:56Speaker 4: going to go to London and see Dermock Kennedy in London,
- 22:59Speaker 4: And since we couldn't make that work, I'm looking on
- 23:00Speaker 4: my phone to see if he comes through Nashville. All
- 23:02Speaker 4: just so happen as he was coming to the Rhyman,
- 23:04Speaker 4: you know, at that point in the summer, he's coming
- 23:06Speaker 4: to Ryman in October. I got those tickets. Wedding thing happened.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Didn't want to break my wife's heart by being like,
- 23:12Speaker 4: we can't go to Dermot Kennedy because I was like,
- 23:14Speaker 4: we will go to Dermot Kennedy if we don't go
- 23:16Speaker 4: to London, because I was like trying not to go
- 23:17Speaker 4: to London for seventy two hours. I'm like, sweet, I listen, that.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Is crazy to go somewhere for seventy two hours.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm like, I know it would be fun.
- 23:24Speaker 4: I know, just the two of us, YadA YadA, But like,
- 23:27Speaker 4: come on, we can, we can, we can do something
- 23:29Speaker 4: closer so that way we get more time at said place.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Right then spending half the time in the air, that's
- 23:35Speaker 4: sixteen hours in the air. So then when I was
- 23:37Speaker 4: in that kind of pickle, just had to make it
- 23:40Speaker 4: happen Flywers. I hit up Clump. I was like, hey,
- 23:42Speaker 4: can you see what can I get a couple of
- 23:44Speaker 4: quotes for like just a day trip in and out
- 23:46Speaker 4: because you know, go to the wedding. I'm pump for
- 23:48Speaker 4: my dad, but there's you know, Willie Boy's going through
- 23:50Speaker 4: his own journey with this process and everything else. I
- 23:52Speaker 4: want to get back so I can still go to
- 23:53Speaker 4: the concert. Couldn't leave that night of because we had
- 23:56Speaker 4: the stream Tennessee, Alabama, so kind of caught in a
- 23:58Speaker 4: pickle problem solved shout shut out house. That is how nice.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Uh.
- 24:07Speaker 4: It was shaky because it was very windy yesterday. We
- 24:09Speaker 4: were on a turboprop is that what it's called turbo?
- 24:12Speaker 4: A beachcraft? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, So it was shaky. It
- 24:15Speaker 4: was dicey, buddy. When I Charle was down going down
- 24:18Speaker 4: like a web MD wormhole, like she was looking up
- 24:21Speaker 4: these pilots the experience, and I'm like, pilots, but it's
- 24:28Speaker 4: easy these pilots have. But just going down the GBT,
- 24:34Speaker 4: I'm with you, going down that snake cole of like
- 24:37Speaker 4: what's the risk? And the thirty mile an hour winds
- 24:40Speaker 4: because there were gusts. Yesterday it was raining and gusts
- 24:43Speaker 4: were happening in Nashville. A lot of wind and gusts
- 24:46Speaker 4: in Missouri where we were going. She's like, do you
- 24:48Speaker 4: feel confident. I was like, yeah, I feel confident. We
- 24:51Speaker 4: took a we took a small little plane from here
- 24:53Speaker 4: to Bend. Her name snow and everything. It was snow
- 24:57Speaker 4: and everything else.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Dude that said, I might have been the same time
- 25:01Speaker 3: of year when I came to see you in Missouri
- 25:03Speaker 3: a few years back, and I was on that flight.
- 25:06Speaker 4: And then there's that little airport. They can't you can't.
- 25:08Speaker 4: You have to take a small plane to.
- 25:11Speaker 3: A small plane. And the dude on the way back, well,
- 25:13Speaker 3: I'm getting thrown over there, but I'm the only guy
- 25:15Speaker 3: on the plane. I'm like, this is exactly when people die. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 3: this is on one hundred percent when people go down. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 3: no bags, just like I gotta get back to Nashville
- 25:23Speaker 3: because I'm still playing football at the time. And the
- 25:25Speaker 3: dude looks back and gives me the thumbs up. I'm like,
- 25:27Speaker 3: I guess we're straight.
- 25:28Speaker 4: And you look out the window and it is moving
- 25:30Speaker 4: like as we're landing in Missouri, like it's moving and
- 25:34Speaker 4: going a little sideways where I'm staying poised. But internally
- 25:39Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, because my Charles over there breathing
- 25:42Speaker 4: like all this stuff. She's like, we're taking our entire
- 25:45Speaker 4: family and we're gonna be on a small plane. She's
- 25:47Speaker 4: getting super nervous. I'm like, we got only a couple option, sweetheart, Like, uh,
- 25:51Speaker 4: we're either on the plane and we all go. You
- 25:55Speaker 4: can stay home. I truly doesn't bother me, and I
- 25:57Speaker 4: can just go by myself. I know you're probably thing
- 26:00Speaker 4: in your head, well what if you die and then
- 26:01Speaker 4: we're all because I'm thinking we'll all go down as
- 26:03Speaker 4: a family. At least we all go down to.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say that might be kind of
- 26:06Speaker 3: a wind, right or when these kids are pretty young,
- 26:09Speaker 3: that's really sad, but like.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Both parents, Yeah, yeah, well, don't.
- 26:12Speaker 3: We all just take the take the drink together, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 3: take the coolie together, and just fucking get out of here.
- 26:17Speaker 4: You know, or we cancel it and we gotta spend
- 26:21Speaker 4: you know, ten twelve hours in a car and we're
- 26:23Speaker 4: gonna have to drive to the wedding and we're missing
- 26:25Speaker 4: Dermak Kennedy on the way home. And that was the
- 26:27Speaker 4: deciding factor. I didn't have to go as willing to
- 26:30Speaker 4: risk death. I didn't have to go there. I didn't
- 26:32Speaker 4: have to lay out those options. Fortunately, it's like we
- 26:34Speaker 4: got connected. I'm breaking stuff down. I'm like, hey, I'm
- 26:36Speaker 4: telling you we're gonna be all right. But even right
- 26:39Speaker 4: when we took off from Nashville because it was raining,
- 26:41Speaker 4: it was starting to rain pretty good, and the wind
- 26:43Speaker 4: was going right when we took off, and the wheels
- 26:45Speaker 4: like got like right off the ground that spot where
- 26:48Speaker 4: was just about to lift you like like felt the
- 26:50Speaker 4: jerk sideway. Oh no, Charles got Scotty attached her and
- 26:55Speaker 4: she her eyes are just closed and she's just breathing.
- 26:58Speaker 4: We're just going we.
- 27:00Speaker 3: It's so funny, idea we dude. When Willow and I
- 27:05Speaker 3: took off, we flew delta. When we took off to
- 27:07Speaker 3: go to Detroit, I had the thing down. Everybody had
- 27:10Speaker 3: their like shades down or whatever, the window shades, and
- 27:13Speaker 3: we're taking off and will was like, are we gonna
- 27:14Speaker 3: leave it? I'm like, we're like thirty minutes into the flapping, honey,
- 27:17Speaker 3: we're in there. She goes, oh, right back from the iPad.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I was like all right, hell yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Does child get scared flying, No, she just gets it's
- 27:26Speaker 4: the whole family, dynamic thing. She just she'll get in
- 27:28Speaker 4: her head about the family and then the small plane,
- 27:31Speaker 4: and then she sees the two years. She's like, they've
- 27:33Speaker 4: only been you know, this pilot graduated in twenty twenty three,
- 27:37Speaker 4: this ungraduated in twenty twenty one.
- 27:40Speaker 7: This is our very first They sent all this stuff.
- 27:43Speaker 7: Will text me in the morning and I just start
- 27:45Speaker 7: feeling like shit instantly, like my morning was ruined because
- 27:48Speaker 7: I'm worried for him, knowing that they're worried because it's
- 27:50Speaker 7: a smaller plane. And then the guy texted he's like,
- 27:52Speaker 7: it might be a little bumpy when they take off.
- 27:55Speaker 7: All I'm thinking, as your wife's sitting there closing her eyes.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because it's her. It's like their first flight,
- 28:01Speaker 4: and it's like, you know, on the small plane and
- 28:03Speaker 4: everything else. I'm like, we're gonnay, it's gonna be easy.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Before fucking it's like Jurassic parking. When you get done
- 28:09Speaker 4: it kind of dope, huh oh.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Absolutely, there's like a piece of you that's like kind
- 28:12Speaker 3: of to survive something easy. Just now it is wild.
- 28:16Speaker 3: You wanna fly out to Brad's wedding.
- 28:18Speaker 4: No, no, we're going. We fly out the early flight
- 28:22Speaker 4: on Saturday morning.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Oh nice, so you can get a full twenty four
- 28:25Speaker 3: hours there, Yeah we can.
- 28:27Speaker 4: We can. Uh, we can spend some time there.
- 28:29Speaker 3: That'd be nice. It's just you and Drel going. Yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 3: so Charles's doing today, we're filming on Monday. She's flying
- 28:34Speaker 3: out to London, spending five days there. So she gets
- 28:37Speaker 3: back Friday, Friday, and then she's gonna get on a
- 28:39Speaker 3: plane Saturday.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Yep.
- 28:41Speaker 3: That's rock star ship. Yeah, that is rock star ship.
- 28:44Speaker 4: And positive too about it being in Spock, because I
- 28:47Speaker 4: know a bitched a lot about this wedding in New
- 28:48Speaker 4: York and everything else. It is at a sleepy hollow.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Sleepy hall. I said, Salem, you're dude. That does gast
- 28:54Speaker 3: me up for you. You gotta do something fun and spooky,
- 28:56Speaker 3: I know. I mean you just gotta walk around. Yeah yeah,
- 28:59Speaker 3: sleepy hollow where sleepy hollows horsemen.
- 29:03Speaker 1: That's great.
- 29:03Speaker 4: You got to take a lot of send me some photos.
- 29:05Speaker 4: I got you, yeah, I got you.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Just that to some spooked over stup. Look, there's some
- 29:10Speaker 3: tear talk, dude. This is from tom at tom Rynette
- 29:14Speaker 3: High start tear talk. If the states of Michigan and
- 29:16Speaker 3: Nebraska went to war with each other, who would win?
- 29:19Speaker 4: And why if the states of Michigan Nebraska went to war? Yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 4: I don't know what's the pop there. I would think
- 29:27Speaker 4: I would lean heavy Nebraska, just the blue collar, the
- 29:31Speaker 4: gurden spit, the farmers out there.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna go uh easy dub Michigan. Detroit, Yeah, Detroit, Flint,
- 29:40Speaker 3: like and you talk about blue collar cats like this
- 29:42Speaker 3: go up to the up like those people are survivors
- 29:45Speaker 3: up there, like that's basically Canada arms race. Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Yeah, there's some pockets.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Like and also is this is this a neutral site,
- 29:59Speaker 3: like everyone just meets up in like Minnesota and we
- 30:01Speaker 3: go ches or do we have to like go to Nebraska?
- 30:04Speaker 3: Is in an away game in away war? Because if
- 30:06Speaker 3: that's the case.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Two, yeah, you bring up those cities like we're we're
- 30:09Speaker 4: just we're insanely outnumbered.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Insanely because I have to look at the population, I'm
- 30:13Speaker 3: thinking you're fucking dead.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Detroit done.
- 30:17Speaker 3: And also like we to Nebraska, it might have to
- 30:19Speaker 3: be like revolutionary war style where it's like everyone you're
- 30:22Speaker 3: going to see each other fifteen miles away. We might
- 30:25Speaker 3: as well just line them up, get some muskets in
- 30:27Speaker 3: our hand, and get a little drummer boy and get
- 30:29Speaker 3: going after.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Some gorilla tactics going on. You come to Nebraska to
- 30:34Speaker 4: trench war. Yeah, warfare, you have to win a different way.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Okay, let's get to await. So you you're thinking Nebraska
- 30:45Speaker 3: still no miss okay? Uh Andrew at a underscore Hilliard eleven.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I want to hear the boys thoughts on things you
- 30:54Speaker 3: kind of like about a sick day, staying home from school,
- 30:56Speaker 3: watching the prices right, or things of that nature. Let's
- 30:59Speaker 3: have a hell the Monday Boys hashtag tear talk. Yeah.
- 31:04Speaker 8: I was never allowed to stay home from school. I'd
- 31:07Speaker 8: be going to school with diarrhea if I had strap throat.
- 31:10Speaker 6: I'm at school.
- 31:10Speaker 8: I was just I was a kid getting every other
- 31:12Speaker 8: kid sick.
- 31:15Speaker 4: I feel that too, bro. My mom wouldn't anytime I
- 31:18Speaker 4: go and then I'd be sick and I go to
- 31:19Speaker 4: the nurse or whatever and she's like, gotta call your mom.
- 31:21Speaker 4: My mom comes in, she's almost pissed off it. Oh yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 4: cause she's like, you just worked the system to go home,
- 31:26Speaker 4: And I'm thinking I feel sick and she's like, you're
- 31:28Speaker 4: going to school or if it's bad and they gotta
- 31:30Speaker 4: take me because I have a fever. My mom would
- 31:33Speaker 4: be tight going home, my mom, and you ain't playing
- 31:35Speaker 4: your game boy? Yeah, I'd be trying to I gotta
- 31:38Speaker 4: go take a ship. I'm sitting on the toilet trying
- 31:40Speaker 4: to play the game boy, trying to play some Pokemon.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Gotta catch them all. Oh, got to catch them.
- 31:43Speaker 8: My mom and dad would be like pissed if I
- 31:47Speaker 8: like you, you're waiting until this weekend to go to
- 31:49Speaker 8: the doctor.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Dude.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 3: The parents, if they don't believe that you're sick, they
- 31:53Speaker 3: put you in hell. You're no no TV, no nothing,
- 31:57Speaker 3: and it's the Hey, if you're really sick, you should
- 31:59Speaker 3: really rest. Just go in your room and lay there.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Yeah, some parents. I got some buddies now that they'd
- 32:05Speaker 4: be it'd be like sniffles and they're fucking staying home
- 32:08Speaker 4: anytime out here. Oh Chuck isn't here today. I just
- 32:12Speaker 4: have one with him. I roll like that dad, dude
- 32:14Speaker 4: ain't sick. Oh he's kid home too. The kid was
- 32:17Speaker 4: our boy too, that like lived with Chuck. But it's
- 32:20Speaker 4: like we were all just friends like they weren't brothers nothing.
- 32:22Speaker 4: He just he was just living with Chuck at the time,
- 32:24Speaker 4: and they'd be like both of them were sick. It's
- 32:26Speaker 4: like they're fucking at home right now playing two K
- 32:28Speaker 4: basketball Fontera.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that is uh yeah. You know everyone had
- 32:35Speaker 3: those friends that when they weren't there, You're like, I know,
- 32:38Speaker 3: this motherfucker's having best day.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Kid feels. I gave him that nick. I gave him
- 32:43Speaker 4: that nickname. In middle school, JJ Kidd, he loved JJ Kidd.
- 32:47Speaker 4: He'd wear like wristbands around his uh calf with shorts.
- 32:51Speaker 4: I loved him. I loved him.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Hey, this might not be I hated missing school. Was
- 32:59Speaker 3: never good in school, but hated so boring. Buddy, it's
- 33:03Speaker 3: boring and like all your friends are there. So when
- 33:06Speaker 3: I see with these kids, it'd be more like high school.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Like these kids, you'll be like, I'm skipping class.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I'm going.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm thinking, bro, I want to go to class.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Cute girls in there, My boys are in this class.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Like I want to be around. I want to be around.
- 33:17Speaker 4: I always want to get the I always wanted to
- 33:19Speaker 4: get the ninety seven percent, ninety eight percent attendance rate,
- 33:22Speaker 4: go on the field trip at the end of the year,
- 33:23Speaker 4: get an award.
- 33:24Speaker 6: We never had that, never had that shit. I would
- 33:26Speaker 6: have been in there every year.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Yeah, every year with the sniffles.
- 33:31Speaker 9: We had a We had a girl in our high
- 33:32Speaker 9: school graduation. She was also our valedictorian, Laney Anderson.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Shout out, Laney.
- 33:38Speaker 9: Perfect attendance all the way K through twelve, No way
- 33:42Speaker 9: K through twelve. It was the first time in our
- 33:45Speaker 9: school's history, the.
- 33:46Speaker 4: First time in American history.
- 33:47Speaker 9: But truly, they have this whole plaque and everything. There's
- 33:50Speaker 9: like a doctor's appointments that you could like miss like
- 33:54Speaker 9: a class and it still counted, you know what I
- 33:57Speaker 9: mean of a full day. But she made it past
- 33:59Speaker 9: like five periods at least every single day, which is crazy.
- 34:04Speaker 4: That tip of the cap to her tip of the.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Cap, yeah, tip of the cap, tip of the cap.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Yeah. The all sick this thing.
- 34:13Speaker 6: How are you going to be if? How are you
- 34:15Speaker 6: gonna be if?
- 34:16Speaker 8: When Rue and Scotti here come up to you think, Dad,
- 34:18Speaker 8: I don't feel good, like my stomach hurts.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Oh, they'll go to school. Rude didn't have the fever symptoms,
- 34:24Speaker 4: but Rue had hand mouthed foot and her ass was
- 34:27Speaker 4: at school. It's more like checking with the teachers and
- 34:30Speaker 4: everything else. There is there is a thing too, like
- 34:33Speaker 4: you check with the teachers, and there's a level of
- 34:35Speaker 4: they're not contagious if they don't have a fever and
- 34:37Speaker 4: they don't have like sores in their mouth, they just
- 34:39Speaker 4: kind of have the the reaction of it. Scotty had
- 34:42Speaker 4: the fever and everything else. Rude just kind of had
- 34:45Speaker 4: had like the dots and stuff on her foot and
- 34:47Speaker 4: everything else, but they were like already scabbed and that's
- 34:49Speaker 4: like a sign that she's not contagious. So it's like
- 34:51Speaker 4: we checked with the teachers. But it was also one
- 34:53Speaker 4: of those things like I saw charge, I was like, well,
- 34:55Speaker 4: she needs a she needs to go to school. She's
- 34:57Speaker 4: feeling fine. I'm like, ah, wait you but this it
- 34:59Speaker 4: kind of looks weird. It kind of looks like a
- 35:01Speaker 4: bit of a deal. And she's like put choos on
- 35:03Speaker 4: and everything else. And that's where I'm like, Okay, we're
- 35:05Speaker 4: on the same page. I just need more of a
- 35:06Speaker 4: push because I'm like this seems like it could be
- 35:08Speaker 4: a deal. And once I drive and drop her off,
- 35:10Speaker 4: I'm like asking the teachers and everything else, and everything
- 35:12Speaker 4: was all solid. But they'll go to they'll yeah, they'll
- 35:15Speaker 4: they'll go to school. It's just it's you know, how
- 35:18Speaker 4: you're going to show up every day like this is
- 35:20Speaker 4: this is a discipline and a principle that you embody
- 35:24Speaker 4: and you have to establish when they're little, because I
- 35:28Speaker 4: know that's how That's how my parents were of me,
- 35:29Speaker 4: Like there wasn't a there was no getting out of
- 35:34Speaker 4: you know, trying to be sick or anything else. There
- 35:36Speaker 4: were times where we're absolutely dog sick and you just
- 35:38Speaker 4: can't go to school. But yeah, as long as as
- 35:42Speaker 4: long as they're not like running a fever and everything else,
- 35:44Speaker 4: Like if you're feeling bad, it's like okay, if you
- 35:46Speaker 4: got like a little cold, like to me, you're going
- 35:48Speaker 4: to school.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Well, we got to be in the hundreds before that
- 35:53Speaker 3: conversation takes place of like do they miss school? Yeah
- 35:56Speaker 3: yeah yeah yeah, big.
- 35:58Speaker 9: Time insane by My mom would do anything she could
- 36:02Speaker 9: to give me to school of like I had to
- 36:05Speaker 9: be actively vomiting or have like a one on one
- 36:08Speaker 9: fever so.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Bro one time, guys. When I was younger, I probably
- 36:13Speaker 3: nine or something like that, I did not want to
- 36:15Speaker 3: go to school one day and I tried to play sick,
- 36:18Speaker 3: didn't have the fever. Heard about the pennything under the tongue.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Tried that didn't work.
- 36:23Speaker 4: That night.
- 36:23Speaker 3: I took it one of those little green like army
- 36:26Speaker 3: soldiers with the little musket and had like a little
- 36:29Speaker 3: point to it, and I kept putting into my nose
- 36:31Speaker 3: and tickling in the back of my nose and sneezed,
- 36:34Speaker 3: and I kept sneezing and sneezing and sneezing to where
- 36:37Speaker 3: my mom came in, like let's just call it. An
- 36:40Speaker 3: hour later and she's like, hey, you're not going to
- 36:42Speaker 3: school tomorrow, Like it sounds like you're really having a
- 36:44Speaker 3: hard I was like having a really tough time. Didn't
- 36:46Speaker 3: sneeze the rest of the night because I went right
- 36:48Speaker 3: to sleep right after that. They had to know, yeah, bro,
- 36:52Speaker 3: they had to know I was lying. Yeah, I got that.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I had that thing like touching my brain. At some
- 36:56Speaker 3: point my eyes were like welting up. Well, I'm like
- 36:58Speaker 3: I gotta get out. I had no idea why I
- 37:01Speaker 3: wanted to get out school. Yeah, exactly.
- 37:04Speaker 4: That was the O g one.
- 37:05Speaker 3: When they take a hard right turn, I feel like it.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Sneeze is so easy to bake.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I just love that. You're like, no, we're getting the real.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Yeah. I was like water pouring out of my eyes
- 37:14Speaker 3: and it was just like one side to my right
- 37:16Speaker 3: side of my face was just like all red. And
- 37:18Speaker 3: it's like totally fine.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I had to put myself in a situation where it's
- 37:22Speaker 4: like I couldn't. I needed somebody else to be my
- 37:25Speaker 4: my alibi. And so after dinner one night, and like,
- 37:28Speaker 4: I'm gonna take a shower. Whyat was? You know, White's
- 37:31Speaker 4: like six years younger than me, but he's young enough
- 37:33Speaker 4: to where he shower. And it's like, all right, you guys,
- 37:34Speaker 4: you help White shower everything else. And I house a
- 37:37Speaker 4: bunch of apple sauce in my mouth and I kind
- 37:39Speaker 4: of hold it to where we're showering, and I just
- 37:42Speaker 4: pretend to throw up all over the shower so that
- 37:44Speaker 4: way White could leave the shower and be like, oh, yeah,
- 37:46Speaker 4: will was will was thrown up? And I can kind
- 37:48Speaker 4: of milk it a little bit like those were.
- 37:50Speaker 3: And it goes in the drain too, which is genius.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, to where she can't check it. All she
- 37:55Speaker 4: has to do is trust White, and she's kind of
- 37:56Speaker 4: going off my body language. Why it's young enough, he doesn't.
- 38:00Speaker 3: True? Yeah, that is elite, elite.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Do we have more to your talk?
- 38:08Speaker 9: Shrem We do, but just because of time, we're thinking
- 38:12Speaker 9: we may kick it to Chad Powers.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Okay, all right's he get to Chad Powers real quick?
- 38:17Speaker 1: Oh?
- 38:18Speaker 3: Chad Powers. Eight years after flushing his promising college football
- 38:21Speaker 3: career down the toilet, hotshot quarterback Russ Holliday tries to
- 38:24Speaker 3: resurrect his dreams by disguising himself as Chad Power. Is
- 38:28Speaker 3: a talented audball who walks on is struggling South Carol,
- 38:32Speaker 3: South Georgia Catfish Bay Catfish, South Georgia Catfish. Based on
- 38:37Speaker 3: Eli Manning's Eli's Places segment from ESPN and Omaha Productions,
- 38:41Speaker 3: this comedy event will take viewers by surprise with a
- 38:44Speaker 3: comeback story that everyone can relate to. Chad Powers is
- 38:47Speaker 3: now streaming with new episodes Tuesday on Hulu and Hulu
- 38:51Speaker 3: on Disney Plus. For bonus subscriber's terms apply. Listen. Have
- 38:58Speaker 3: we have you seen the late latest episode?
- 39:00Speaker 6: I have not?
- 39:00Speaker 4: Okay, I am I am fired up though that like
- 39:05Speaker 4: we were streaming too, and you saw a couple of
- 39:07Speaker 4: comments in the life chat being like, Yo, Chad Powers
- 39:09Speaker 4: is actually really good. Left. Yeah, it's like, yeah, it's
- 39:12Speaker 4: it's tough to oversell it, but we genuinely feel like
- 39:15Speaker 4: this is a good show.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Yeah, this show is genuinely good. So after they played Tennessee,
- 39:21Speaker 3: they beat Tennessee. The last episode that came out was
- 39:25Speaker 3: the Spooky They go to Spirit Halloween. He loses all
- 39:29Speaker 3: the stuff, they have to go chat. Russ Holladay gets
- 39:31Speaker 3: a gun and they end up finding all the stuff
- 39:33Speaker 3: on the floor. The getting back to the hotel where
- 39:35Speaker 3: he sees the girl. What's the girl's name again, Ricky
- 39:39Speaker 3: Ricky don't know why I always forget that. Ricky Ricky
- 39:42Speaker 3: and Russ Holliday, not Chad Power, see each other at
- 39:45Speaker 3: the elevator and Ricky's like, oh, I know who you are,
- 39:46Speaker 3: blah blah blah. They go back and forth where you
- 39:48Speaker 3: see like one of his little lingering at the elevator
- 39:50Speaker 3: for a minute and she's coming up to do bed checks.
- 39:52Speaker 3: He runs up. They end up getting saved. That next
- 39:55Speaker 3: day they beat the Tennessee Volunteers. So this next episode
- 39:59Speaker 3: that takes place, they are five and zero. They're ranked
- 40:02Speaker 3: like top ten in the Country or something like that.
- 40:05Speaker 3: And College Game Day is trying to do a like
- 40:08Speaker 3: interview that featured Peace on Chad Powers to where Chad's like,
- 40:14Speaker 3: you know, having a really hard time. He's throwing up
- 40:17Speaker 3: during it. It's it's a it's a whole deal deal
- 40:20Speaker 3: one of the top quotes.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Remember we said like the Wolves was a great one.
- 40:24Speaker 7: Yeah, They're like, who's like really influenced you? And he
- 40:26Speaker 7: just looks he's like Benjamin Franklin.
- 40:31Speaker 4: So they talk him into it.
- 40:33Speaker 3: You see Ricky starting to lin Chad Powers a little bit.
- 40:36Speaker 3: But does Ricky like Chad Powers if she knows he's
- 40:38Speaker 3: Russ Holiday. It's a whole back and forth.
- 40:40Speaker 6: Man.
- 40:40Speaker 3: They have a nice little moment while they're watching film together.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Great show, well done show. Chad Powers. Russ Holiday decides
- 40:49Speaker 3: to himself in this show, which we don't see any
- 40:52Speaker 3: further down at that the only reason why bad things
- 40:54Speaker 3: happened to Russ Holliday is because he's Russ Holliday. If
- 40:56Speaker 3: he's always Chad Powers from here on out, it seems
- 40:58Speaker 3: like only good things happen at Chad Powers. So he's
- 41:00Speaker 3: essentially saying, I'm no longer Russ Holiday. Chad Powers is
- 41:04Speaker 3: who I am. He's even looking up like how to
- 41:06Speaker 3: get plastic surgery to change his face looks like that forever.
- 41:09Speaker 3: And so now he's having this identity crisis turmoil, bipolar
- 41:13Speaker 3: type multi personality thing that's taking place back and forth.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Oh, I love that.
- 41:17Speaker 3: So it's gonna it's a it's fun.
- 41:19Speaker 7: There is a crazy wrinkle in this episode.
- 41:21Speaker 4: We won't spoil it for yeah, don't don't spoil. Don't spoil.
- 41:23Speaker 4: Even even Taylor talking about that right there. I'm not
- 41:27Speaker 4: I'm not saying that's a spoiler, but I'm just thinking
- 41:28Speaker 4: in my head, like the riders, what a platform and
- 41:31Speaker 4: stage for these riders to like make something out of
- 41:35Speaker 4: something that again we'll say again people felt like it
- 41:38Speaker 4: was like beating a dead horse with the Chad powers
- 41:41Speaker 4: he like manning stuff and it's like, what is this?
- 41:43Speaker 4: What is this Hulu show? And it's honestly it's a
- 41:45Speaker 4: good show.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Delete that highlight thing so Will doesn't see Okay, yes, yeah,
- 41:48Speaker 3: delete that because body, I forgot about that.
- 41:55Speaker 4: Here's the same holiday takes somebody down.
- 41:57Speaker 3: I'll say that takes down a that's almost say.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Here's the segment that we do have from the show
- 42:07Speaker 4: It's called a Fresh Set of Downs segment where we
- 42:09Speaker 4: spot where we spotlight one transfer portal player current or
- 42:13Speaker 4: past who wasn't playing ballwell or was buried on the
- 42:15Speaker 4: depth chart and all they needed was a fresh set
- 42:17Speaker 4: of downs in order to spark their redemption story and
- 42:20Speaker 4: turn their college careers around. This week's Fresh Set of
- 42:23Speaker 4: Downs segment Player of the Week is Cade McConnell, Vanderbilt
- 42:29Speaker 4: offensive lineman, the left guard of the show. Friend of
- 42:32Speaker 4: the Show franchise, was the number ten player in Oklahoma
- 42:36Speaker 4: valedictorian in high school, went to Minnesota, originally transferred from
- 42:40Speaker 4: Minnesota to Vandy, and he's one of the best offensive
- 42:43Speaker 4: guards in the country. We have a little clip that
- 42:45Speaker 4: we can show you where he is body bagging LSU Tigers.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Kate McConnell was also summer intern for busting with the boys.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, summer intern of busts with the boys, probably, and
- 42:58Speaker 3: it's your first time seeing them. Mitch was beneath him,
- 43:01Speaker 3: Internship valedictorian, the whole thing. No disrespect all of us,
- 43:05Speaker 3: but also disrespect all he's.
- 43:07Speaker 4: Kate is kind of the one who helped catapult the
- 43:09Speaker 4: entire internship program Operation YEA because he was DM and US,
- 43:12Speaker 4: but he was demon Sharham to where Sherm kind of
- 43:15Speaker 4: had like, Hey, I see that there's this there's this
- 43:18Speaker 4: old lineman at Vanderbilt. He's been talking about me about
- 43:21Speaker 4: an internship, like he needs a certain credit or something
- 43:23Speaker 4: like that could be fun because he plays college football.
- 43:26Speaker 4: He's at Vanderbilt. They had a good year last year.
- 43:28Speaker 4: They could be tough this year. Dude seems like he
- 43:30Speaker 4: would love to be for the brand. Says he'll do
- 43:33Speaker 4: whatever it takes, whatever whatever he can do for the brand.
- 43:36Speaker 4: We hire guys like in operations, in production and social
- 43:40Speaker 4: like specific people like in those lanes, and we were
- 43:44Speaker 4: kind of just adding like, yeah, we were gonna do
- 43:45Speaker 4: kid the whole time. He was kind of gonna just
- 43:47Speaker 4: be our football guy who joined the boys. But he
- 43:49Speaker 4: came in and he was like the most surprising. We
- 43:51Speaker 4: hired a few people from that litter, but he was
- 43:54Speaker 4: like a stud. Yeah, like some you just wouldn't expect, like, okay,
- 43:58Speaker 4: offensive lineman he's doing for credit. He'll be fun, banter,
- 44:01Speaker 4: he'll be good around the vibes, he'll be good around
- 44:03Speaker 4: the shop. But he's cutting clips. He's doing everything. Yo,
- 44:06Speaker 4: He's you're gonna be special.
- 44:09Speaker 3: No job, too big, no drop too small. Guys on scholarship.
- 44:12Speaker 3: He's at Vandy. They're a hot team. He's getting an
- 44:14Speaker 3: al money and he comes in here and acts like
- 44:17Speaker 3: he's doing janitorial things. He's cutting clips, he's doing literally
- 44:20Speaker 3: whatever it takes to be.
- 44:21Speaker 4: One of the boys.
- 44:22Speaker 3: That's unbelievable. Can we break down this play for a saying?
- 44:24Speaker 3: Can go go to the beginning of this play. This
- 44:26Speaker 3: is a special play by Kate mccaudley. You see, they
- 44:28Speaker 3: got little, so they're like in this like three four
- 44:31Speaker 3: look right now, So they're fanning out the left tackle
- 44:33Speaker 3: and left guard. Kate McConnell's playing left guard. They're fanning out.
- 44:36Speaker 3: So these two guys are man the end who's a
- 44:39Speaker 3: four eye. He's going to go out towards the tackle,
- 44:43Speaker 3: basically allowing kid to go back in. But Cad played
- 44:46Speaker 3: a little bit the way he body bags this four
- 44:49Speaker 3: eye technique. Go ahead, let him bank him bank And
- 44:52Speaker 3: then right here, that's amazing. You see the will linebacker
- 44:55Speaker 3: he's dropped in the coverage, so you know he just
- 44:57Speaker 3: haves that you're left tackle. That's a win for him
- 44:59Speaker 3: on that side. He could essentially be done and just
- 45:01Speaker 3: kind of hold space. The fact that he's going in
- 45:04Speaker 3: to handle the center after that too, because you know
- 45:06Speaker 3: a lot of times when one guy drops another way,
- 45:08Speaker 3: there could be blitzers coming the opposite way, so you
- 45:10Speaker 3: have to bang a lot of guys back. This is
- 45:12Speaker 3: heady football.
- 45:13Speaker 4: This is valid.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Victorian football type shit right here. That gets me juiced
- 45:17Speaker 3: up because he's violent. The thing that fires me up
- 45:20Speaker 3: is his feet are incredible here. He's got extension on
- 45:23Speaker 3: his punch. He's violent with his punch without getting over
- 45:25Speaker 3: his toes, and he's banging back. And when you're banging back,
- 45:28Speaker 3: you're not like taking over the block, so you can
- 45:30Speaker 3: throw that shoulder into it. Football porn. That's football porn.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Where he gets six to midnight. That's you talking about
- 45:38Speaker 3: forty nine from Minnesota last week. And I know the situation,
- 45:41Speaker 3: but like you brought that up on a stream where
- 45:44Speaker 3: you're like, that's football porn.
- 45:46Speaker 4: You're definitely intentionally going out of your way right there
- 45:47Speaker 4: to bring up forty nine. There's no you didn't have
- 45:51Speaker 4: to do it.
- 45:51Speaker 6: Mighty Well talks about Luke.
- 45:53Speaker 4: Yeah, this is I don't know where's yourself? That's not true.
- 45:56Speaker 3: But go ahead.
- 45:56Speaker 4: I don't know where he's ranked on the NFL or
- 46:00Speaker 4: anything else, because I know he's junior, he's got another
- 46:01Speaker 4: year and all that. But if there are scouts that
- 46:04Speaker 4: are watching tape, whether they're watching Diego or whatever cats
- 46:08Speaker 4: they're watching at Vanderbilt or on the defensive side for LSU,
- 46:11Speaker 4: and they're watching this game, that right, there is a
- 46:13Speaker 4: clip to where it's like, say, he's not in the
- 46:16Speaker 4: top ten whatever it is. That's one where it's like,
- 46:18Speaker 4: who is this kid? Right? And his name starts to
- 46:21Speaker 4: get in some conversation, and if he puts some consistency
- 46:24Speaker 4: behind that, like this is a clip you will see
- 46:27Speaker 4: on draft night, on draft day whenever he does get
- 46:30Speaker 4: picked in to look at him here as a junior
- 46:32Speaker 4: against LSU's defense.
- 46:33Speaker 6: Yes, is I may be.
- 46:37Speaker 8: Wrong here, but I feel like I've heard some Joe
- 46:39Speaker 8: Moore talks about Vandy's offensive line.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Could be they're playing playing credible, man, they're playing amazing.
- 46:45Speaker 4: I don't know if the stats are coming out of
- 46:46Speaker 4: the LSU game, but before the LSU game, they were
- 46:48Speaker 4: averaging over six yards per rush, which was number one
- 46:50Speaker 4: in the country. Unbelievable.
- 46:52Speaker 7: What's crazy about Vandy z oh line and Caid in general.
- 46:54Speaker 7: Is he switchessides each like every other player.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Which is he doesn't play just right guard or left guard.
- 46:59Speaker 7: They switch all the time. So within a one series
- 47:03Speaker 7: he could take three four snaps at left guard, three
- 47:05Speaker 7: four snaps of right guard.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Dude, that's insane. That is that is. I kind of
- 47:08Speaker 4: hate that he had another You hate that, but I
- 47:11Speaker 4: just love how it's like he's just thinking, just fucking
- 47:16Speaker 4: have me in the game.
- 47:17Speaker 7: Like they move the tackle too, they bring the guard
- 47:20Speaker 7: and the tackle, so like that, he sticks with the
- 47:22Speaker 7: one guy. They just switch each time. It's the way
- 47:25Speaker 7: Vandy runs their offense.
- 47:26Speaker 3: That's crazy what they need to do with Katy mcconelly's
- 47:28Speaker 3: a transfer to Michian next year if he's got one
- 47:29Speaker 3: more year.
- 47:31Speaker 9: I was gonna say, we're watching Vandy LSU and my
- 47:33Speaker 9: dad was going.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Hey, that's the girl's guide, that's Cad.
- 47:36Speaker 9: That's seventy That sprung u diego for that touchdown run
- 47:41Speaker 9: they had up the left sideline. Yeah, he had a
- 47:44Speaker 9: nasty block.
- 47:45Speaker 4: On that one too. He was head hunt.
- 47:47Speaker 3: It was flowing right there.
- 47:48Speaker 7: Yeah, there's another clip of him going viral too when
- 47:51Speaker 7: he pulled from right guard and he came down and
- 47:53Speaker 7: just completely ran someone.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Overs are getting some love about this clip. Two years ago,
- 48:00Speaker 3: when LSU played at Vandy, there was an l s
- 48:02Speaker 3: U offensive lineman who essentially did the same thing to
- 48:05Speaker 3: Vanity Defense. And it's cool to see that script flipped.
- 48:08Speaker 3: And it's even cool that's our guy that did it.
- 48:10Speaker 4: And I hope too that this photo is what's kind
- 48:12Speaker 4: of sitting here while we talk about them, because just
- 48:14Speaker 4: look at demon just a specimen specimen next the caid
- 48:19Speaker 4: A couple of dogs out there.
- 48:22Speaker 6: That just makes you realize, how is.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy that those are to the same things.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Those are both humans, right, Like those are both mammals
- 48:33Speaker 3: or whatever whatever we are, Like, that's crazy.
- 48:36Speaker 4: They're both of the human species, both males.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Yeah, like that those are both Like if this is
- 48:41Speaker 3: a litter of dogs, like that one's related to that one,
- 48:44Speaker 3: like in some one way, shape or form, Like those
- 48:46Speaker 3: things are related right there. That's crazy. Yeah, yeah, no doubt.
- 48:53Speaker 4: Yeah, they wan of the less little extra you know what,
- 48:57Speaker 4: and both It's so funny you brought up the dog
- 48:59Speaker 4: litter thing because if they were both.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Looking like little cat blocked on those forward letters at
- 49:03Speaker 3: the at the beginning. Huh shirm, that was your joke.
- 49:05Speaker 3: SHRMP told me that joke before anybody who gets mad
- 49:07Speaker 3: at me for that joke. Yeah yeah, well yeah one, yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 3: one's got more sapient than the other.
- 49:13Speaker 4: The dog litter analogy that you use, they would both
- 49:17Speaker 4: if they were shopping for dogs, Cad would be picking
- 49:20Speaker 4: the one that looked like Cad and Jared would for
- 49:22Speaker 4: sure be picking the one that looked like Jared. He's like,
- 49:24Speaker 4: let me give that one a chance. Let me take
- 49:27Speaker 4: this one home. Yeah, he's cute here. You just need
- 49:29Speaker 4: some cuddling.
- 49:30Speaker 8: He can jump in, wants like like a big fucking dog, Jared,
- 49:34Speaker 8: I'll take the little.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Yeah, little scamper, a little scamper over here.
- 49:40Speaker 6: You know.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Demon swinging it in the air right now, just thinking
- 49:43Speaker 4: he's got it. What he's got a German shepherd, doesn't he?
- 49:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, German shepherd. He's got miss miss Pickles, what's
- 49:48Speaker 3: his Uh, he's.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Got a couple of bigger dogs. Miss huskis shout up,
- 49:54Speaker 4: Miss biscuits Husky.
- 49:58Speaker 10: Uh?
- 49:58Speaker 4: Did we want to get into Drew Brees. He'll be
- 50:01Speaker 4: in on with this any second. Do we have anything
- 50:03Speaker 4: else we want to hit in the intro any pet peeves,
- 50:05Speaker 4: any anything.
- 50:07Speaker 6: Yeah, shout out no free shout out this weather it
- 50:09Speaker 6: finally broke. It's here.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Yeah, bro, I got a pet peeve. On the flight home,
- 50:15Speaker 3: there was a family. There's a little kid behind me
- 50:19Speaker 3: that was just kicking my chair the whole time. All good, Like,
- 50:22Speaker 3: I know what it's like to have children on a flight,
- 50:24Speaker 3: and that to me, it's like, listen, this it's an hour.
- 50:27Speaker 3: It's an hour flight. I can handle this little massage
- 50:29Speaker 3: chair in the back just kicking me back and forth.
- 50:31Speaker 3: That's no problem. But I look back for a second.
- 50:34Speaker 3: The mom she's just staring at her phone while this
- 50:36Speaker 3: kid's doing that. And that's why I'm thinking to myself, Honey,
- 50:39Speaker 3: we got to teach these kids things. It's not the
- 50:41Speaker 3: kid's fault that he's taking the thing, because he doesn't
- 50:42Speaker 3: know he's doing the wrong thing.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Right now.
- 50:44Speaker 3: The dad notices after.
- 50:46Speaker 4: He is I think he's Indian.
- 50:49Speaker 3: He was something. He was something. He had a hard,
- 50:52Speaker 3: hard accent on it. And we golded off the flight
- 50:54Speaker 3: and he goes, I'm not gonna do the accent. I'm
- 50:57Speaker 3: not gonna do the accent. He looks at me and
- 51:00Speaker 3: he goes, my kid, my kid was kicking in the
- 51:03Speaker 3: back of your chair. And I was like, oh, yeah,
- 51:04Speaker 3: it's no bed there. He goes, I'm not sorry, and
- 51:07Speaker 3: I was like, you're you're not sorry, and he goes,
- 51:10Speaker 3: I'm not sorry. And I was like, I assume there's
- 51:13Speaker 3: a language barrier going on here. That's a crazy thing
- 51:15Speaker 3: to say. But by pepieve was that mom on her phone.
- 51:19Speaker 9: Yeah, I think he probably was sorry.
- 51:22Speaker 4: He probably was. He probably had to be. I had
- 51:25Speaker 4: to be.
- 51:27Speaker 3: He said, I'm not sorry. I'm thinking you're just you're
- 51:29Speaker 3: accidentally just putting a not in there. He was more
- 51:33Speaker 3: he was more of a stone face killer. Yeah, he's
- 51:36Speaker 3: more of a stone face.
- 51:36Speaker 6: He definitely was not sorry. He was just trying to
- 51:38Speaker 6: be a dick.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Why But I didn't say nothing. I was just chilling.
- 51:41Speaker 10: Man.
- 51:42Speaker 6: I think I think it's because, like you did you
- 51:44Speaker 6: like turn around?
- 51:45Speaker 3: No, no, no, I gave it. I was sitting there
- 51:46Speaker 3: and I had the little gap right here and I'm
- 51:48Speaker 3: looking I'm talking to I'm talking to Will, and I
- 51:50Speaker 3: kind of gave like a peak, like I went like
- 51:51Speaker 3: a little peak Ski, and I just see the mom
- 51:54Speaker 3: chinned up doing our thing, and I thought that's kind
- 51:58Speaker 3: of crazy.
- 51:58Speaker 8: I feel like when you learn the English language, you know,
- 52:01Speaker 8: like not that's like in Borat, like you learn what
- 52:06Speaker 8: there you go?
- 52:09Speaker 4: Boy?
- 52:09Speaker 3: Yeah, if anything, the word not was a mainstay for him.
- 52:13Speaker 6: What you learned?
- 52:14Speaker 4: What not?
- 52:15Speaker 10: Me?
- 52:15Speaker 3: Yeah? Maybe funck that guy?
- 52:16Speaker 4: Dude, No, I'm with you.
- 52:20Speaker 3: You know what I did? Didn't say ship got off
- 52:23Speaker 3: the plane? Got off the plane? Yeah? What may I do?
- 52:26Speaker 3: Beat up some Indian dude? Any who's getting uh?
- 52:33Speaker 4: Drew Brees, Drew Brees, Drew Brees and Zach Bond. All right, gentlemen.

- 53:09Speaker 3: You got me, Yeah, we got you?
- 53:11Speaker 1: Got me? All right?
- 53:12Speaker 4: What's going on, dude?
- 53:14Speaker 3: I'm looking over this and I obviously am very familiar
- 53:17Speaker 3: with your career. But super Bowl Champion, super Bowl forty four,
- 53:20Speaker 3: thirteen time pro bowler, two thousand and four, NFL ap Player, Comeby,
- 53:24Speaker 3: Player of the Year two thousand and six, NFL Walter
- 53:26Speaker 3: Payton Mann of the Year two thousand and eight, ap off,
- 53:28Speaker 3: it's a Player of the Year, twenty eleven, NFL ap off.
- 53:30Speaker 3: It's a player of the year, like Buddy.
- 53:32Speaker 4: I mean, he missed one. What I miss former teammate
- 53:34Speaker 4: of Will Compton.
- 53:38Speaker 3: So of all those accolades, talk to me about what
- 53:41Speaker 3: Will Compton did for you in your career.
- 53:45Speaker 1: You know, just just lead by example, you know, I mean,
- 53:47Speaker 1: if there, I always always thought I was the first
- 53:49Speaker 1: guy in last one to leave. But then this guy
- 53:51Speaker 1: comes to town and just tries to show me up.
- 53:54Speaker 4: Stop Drew him. That's him. That's us guys together making
- 54:00Speaker 4: me look bad. Yeah, devastating, devastating.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Where should we start. Let's save a lot of ground
- 54:07Speaker 3: to cover. Let's start at the beginning. Okay, let's start
- 54:10Speaker 3: at the beginning. Talk to me about growing up getting
- 54:14Speaker 3: no offers out of high school and ended up a
- 54:18Speaker 3: boiler maker. Talked about that process.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so I say this, Look, man, you grew up
- 54:23Speaker 1: in the state of Texas. Obviously, football is away of life.
- 54:27Speaker 4: Uh.
- 54:27Speaker 1: You know, for a lot of a lot of small towns.
- 54:29Speaker 1: You know, everything shuts down for Friday night lights. You know,
- 54:33Speaker 1: I definitely grew up in that atmosphere. My grandfather was
- 54:37Speaker 1: a long time high school football coach down at Gregory
- 54:40Speaker 1: Portland High School, Portland, Texas, outside of Corpus Christie for
- 54:44Speaker 1: thirty eight years. So you know, as a kid, we
- 54:46Speaker 1: would spend our summers down there. Basically, me and my
- 54:48Speaker 1: brother were water boys for his football teams. So as
- 54:53Speaker 1: a kid, man, I love sports. I mean I was
- 54:55Speaker 1: all ball, right, just a gym rat, football, basketball, baseball, Look,
- 54:59Speaker 1: you know, a track, cross country, tennis, soccer, like you
- 55:04Speaker 1: name it, just any stick and ball. And honestly, going
- 55:07Speaker 1: into high school, I was three sport athletes. So and
- 55:11Speaker 1: if you asked me to put it in order of
- 55:13Speaker 1: which sports were my favorite, and maybe that I was
- 55:16Speaker 1: kind of best at, it was baseball, then basketball, and
- 55:20Speaker 1: then football.
- 55:22Speaker 4: So you can play on the basketball court.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 55:26Speaker 4: I was.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I would play the point, but there was a better
- 55:28Speaker 1: point guard, so I played the two. I was a
- 55:29Speaker 1: streating guard, but a baseball like I was the three
- 55:33Speaker 1: hole hitter through right, battag left, played short, but there
- 55:37Speaker 1: was a better short stop, so I played third. There's
- 55:40Speaker 1: a theme here, you know, better guys. So I just
- 55:43Speaker 1: shifted positions, you know. But yeah, batted three hole. Modeled
- 55:47Speaker 1: my swing after King Griffey junior. Ted Williams was my
- 55:50Speaker 1: favorite player of all time, the splendid splinter. So yeah,
- 55:53Speaker 1: really it was like baseball was my trajectory. That's where
- 55:56Speaker 1: I really thought I would end up, you know, hopefully
- 55:59Speaker 1: having a chance to play the next level, either college
- 56:01Speaker 1: or get drafted. So even throughout high school, like I'm
- 56:04Speaker 1: playing baseball, I'm playing basketball, and yeah I'm playing football,
- 56:07Speaker 1: but you know, hey, I was starting B team quarterback
- 56:10Speaker 1: on the freshman team and now I'm the backup on
- 56:13Speaker 1: JV and I don't think I'm ever going to play.
- 56:15Speaker 1: And there was actually a moment my sophomore year midway
- 56:19Speaker 1: through training camp, like hot Texas heat, brutal, my mom
- 56:23Speaker 1: picks me up from practice and she can tell like,
- 56:25Speaker 1: I'm down with the dumps. We pull into the garage
- 56:28Speaker 1: and she's like, what's wrong. I'm like, Mom, I think
- 56:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna quit football. Like, I just don't think this
- 56:32Speaker 1: is my path. I feel like I'm kind of wasting
- 56:34Speaker 1: my time. Like I'm playing behind this guy who's a phenom,
- 56:37Speaker 1: you know, and he's going to be the heir apparent
- 56:39Speaker 1: starter on varsity. So I'm just going to ride the
- 56:41Speaker 1: bencher for the next couple of years. Why wouldn't I
- 56:43Speaker 1: just focus on baseball if that's where I really think
- 56:46Speaker 1: my path is. And she's like, I mean, you know,
- 56:49Speaker 1: do you do?
- 56:49Speaker 10: You do?
- 56:50Speaker 1: You love it? And I'm like, yeah, look, I love
- 56:52Speaker 1: I love the competition. I love having the ball in
- 56:54Speaker 1: my hands. I mean I love the quarterback you know, position,
- 56:57Speaker 1: everything that comes along with it. Love being out there
- 56:59Speaker 1: with my boys. But I just don't think I'm ever
- 57:02Speaker 1: going to get a chance to play. And she's like,
- 57:04Speaker 1: you never know when your opportunity will come, so just
- 57:06Speaker 1: stick it out. But first off, you made the commitments
- 57:09Speaker 1: for this year, Like, so you're locked in. We can
- 57:10Speaker 1: reassess at the end of the year. But you never
- 57:12Speaker 1: know when your opportunity will come. And so sure enough,
- 57:15Speaker 1: a week later, like going into my JV sophomore season,
- 57:18Speaker 1: where I was just going to ride the bench, the
- 57:19Speaker 1: starter gets hurt in the final scrimmage. He tears his ACL,
- 57:23Speaker 1: so man, he's out, and all of a sudden, I'm
- 57:26Speaker 1: thrust into the starting job and the rest is kind
- 57:29Speaker 1: of history there with football, like it just it just
- 57:31Speaker 1: took off. We ended up going ten and zeros at JV.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I played, played really well, and then all of a sudden,
- 57:35Speaker 1: it was like, okay, you're like you're going to be
- 57:37Speaker 1: the guy, Like you're going to be the starter on varsity.
- 57:41Speaker 1: And ironically, like this is nineteen ninety five, we go
- 57:44Speaker 1: into my junior season of high school football. I went
- 57:47Speaker 1: to West Lake High School, Boston, Texas. It's a perennial powerhouse. Yeah,
- 57:51Speaker 1: always quarter finals are beyond big school in state of Texas.
- 57:54Speaker 1: But we had never won a state championship, Like we'd
- 57:56Speaker 1: always gotten really really close, but number won one and
- 57:59Speaker 1: like this was a year, like the best team we've
- 58:02Speaker 1: ever had and we are rolling through the playoffs and
- 58:05Speaker 1: in third round of the playoffs, I end up coming
- 58:08Speaker 1: off of a bootleg, get hit, come down my knee buckles,
- 58:12Speaker 1: and sure enough I've torn my ACL ACL MCL lateral meniscus.
- 58:17Speaker 1: And so like all of a sudden, Now the whole
- 58:20Speaker 1: reason I was starting was because this guy in front
- 58:23Speaker 1: of me had done that, and I had taken his job.
- 58:25Speaker 1: And so now all of a sudden, this happens to me.
- 58:27Speaker 1: And this is like December of ninety five, and so
- 58:31Speaker 1: or excuse me, it was December of ninety five, yep.
- 58:34Speaker 1: And so now all of a sudden, not only did
- 58:37Speaker 1: you know that kind of derails our playoff run, but
- 58:39Speaker 1: then I missed the basketball season and I missed the
- 58:41Speaker 1: baseball season. So and you're a junior, right, that's when
- 58:46Speaker 1: you get recruited, right, that's your junior year where and
- 58:48Speaker 1: this is what everybody's kind of looking at you and
- 58:50Speaker 1: thinking about who they're going to offer and all that stuff.
- 58:52Speaker 1: And look, I was not an impressive guy to look
- 58:54Speaker 1: at price still, not six foot, one hundred and seventy pounds,
- 58:58Speaker 1: right like, nothing, nothing prototype about that. And so then
- 59:03Speaker 1: even going into my senior season, you know, I gained
- 59:06Speaker 1: about twenty pounds just from working out in the rehab
- 59:09Speaker 1: process and all that stuff. To come back, but still
- 59:11Speaker 1: six foot one ninety five running a five two eight
- 59:14Speaker 1: boys five two eight forty with the big, clunky knee brace.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I was not a real impressive guy to look at,
- 59:22Speaker 1: you know, the guy that the recruiting coordinators canna go
- 59:24Speaker 1: and be like, hey, man, I got a gym for us.
- 59:27Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, six ft one ninety he runs up
- 59:29Speaker 1: five to eight with a big old knee brace. You're
- 59:31Speaker 1: gonna love this kid.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Yeah. Do you feel like offers and stuff would have
- 59:36Speaker 4: been there had you not torn your acl because again
- 59:39Speaker 4: you're like you did you go on to winn State
- 59:41Speaker 4: Tunnle your senior year?
- 59:42Speaker 1: Yeah, look, we like, I guess the the accolades were there, right,
- 59:47Speaker 1: like we went sixteen and oh we want a state
- 59:48Speaker 1: championship and the biggest school in the state of Texas.
- 59:51Speaker 4: Yes I was.
- 59:51Speaker 1: I was the five A offensive player of the Year
- 59:53Speaker 1: in the state of Texas.
- 59:54Speaker 4: Yes, right, big, So.
- 59:57Speaker 1: All that would tell you, okay, man, maybe he's got
- 59:59Speaker 1: a little something. Yeah. But again, like I think everybody
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: at times gets pretty enthralled with the measurables, right like
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: the prototype look, and I was certainly not that guy
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: like I was.
- 1:00:13Speaker 10: I was.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: I was I was a multi sport athlete, right, so
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I was. I mean, I think if you just kind
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: of looked at it the way people look at it now,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I think that's a really attractive thing now, is that
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: they look at, hey, does this kid guy play other sports?
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Says you just know how to ball, knows how to ball,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: loves competition, that sort of thing. I think I checked
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: all the boxes there, but certainly the measurables weren't weren't there,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: And so when it came down to it, I ended
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: up getting recruited by two schools. It was Purdue in Kentucky,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: and the situations there were that both of them had
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: new coaching staffs. So with Kentucky how Mummy, I don't
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: know if you remember this, how Mummy. He was kind
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: of part of that air raid offense and that was
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: really starting to take off, like mid nineties. He came
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: from Valdosta State to Kentucky and the quarterback in Kentucky
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: at that time was Tim Couch. So Tim Couch was
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: my host to on my visit to Kentucky. And basically,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: like these guys kind of painted the picture for me.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: First of all, they were like, you can play football
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: and baseball. Here, you're gonna come in. You're gonna back
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: up Tim Couch because nobody's beating this dude out. He's
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: a phenom. Right, he's gonna he's gonna he's gonna play
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: for two more years, so you're gonna red shirt back
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: him up, and then he's gonna leave early for the draft.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: He'll be the first pick, and then you're gonna start
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: for three years at Kentucky and you're gonna play baseball.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I was like, okay, that that actually sounds pretty that
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: sounds deal.
- 1:01:32Speaker 11: Yeah, And then I go to Purdue and Purdue had
- 1:01:36Speaker 11: Joe Tiller who just came from Wyoming and they were
- 1:01:39Speaker 11: running the spread offense, and he said that they they
- 1:01:44Speaker 11: were going to recruit me at Wyoming, but they're like,
- 1:01:46Speaker 11: there's no way we're gonna get this kid up to Wyoming.
- 1:01:49Speaker 11: But then when he got to Purdue and it was
- 1:01:50Speaker 11: big ten, you know, maybe a little bit bigger program,
- 1:01:53Speaker 11: I was like, Okay, now we can go after him.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: But he was shocked to hear that. I didn't have
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: any offers really, so it came out of Purdue Kentucky,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: and I chose Purdue mainly because of the academic reputation,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: but also playing in the Big Ten. The quarterback prior
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: to us was a guy named Jay Rogers. He's actually
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: the d line coach for the New Orleans Saints right now.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: He was our quarterback for west Lake High School. He
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: went to Indiana University. So I you and I played
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: with his brothers and so we would like get together
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: on the weekends to watch him play. And I'm watching
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: him play against Michigan and Ohio State and like all
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: the big boys, and at the time, like Big Ten was,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I mean, all those schools I think was where everybody
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: aspired to go and play, you know, with her against Yeah,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: And so I remember seeing that saying, all right, I
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: get I mean you're telling me I get to play
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: against Notre Day, Michigan, Ohiose State, Penn State, Wisconsin every
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: year and get a great education. And I was like,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: sign me up. That's why I chose Purdue.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: Did that as awesome? What are there were there any
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: other moments, like clearly you were able to that that
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: moment you had you said, what was that with your
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: mom or she was asking you saying you're gonna finish
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: out the rest of the year, you have that moment
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: with your mom, and then your opportunity kind of comes
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: and you're kind of forwarded to the fire on understanding
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: these lessons at a young age, Like, were there any
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: lessons or moments during your time at Purdue that carried
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: you into the NFL as well to where maybe you
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: got tested or maybe it was another moment that you're
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: able to look back on and see that, Hey, I'm
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: glad I stayed true to the process here.
- 1:03:21Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Absolutely, I mean so many similarities, Like you know, high school.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I talked about Westlake High School, Like, we moved into
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: that district my freshman year, and ironically it was because
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: my mom, like we lived all over Austin in a
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: bunch of different parts of town. My parents had gotten
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: divorced when we moved to Austin, so it's kind of
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: a tough time early, just as they were kind of
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: trying to find, you know, their rhythm and and but
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: at the end of the day, my mom looked around
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: and said, Okay, what's the best high school that's going
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: to put my kids in the best position to succeed
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: athletically academically. So she chose WESTLEYK High School's basically all right,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I'm moving into the district so you can go to
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: school here. And I remember showing up that day one
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: my freshman year of high school and literally they were like, okay,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: who wants to play quarterback? And like forty hands went
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: up in the air, including mine, and I looked around
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: and I was like, dude, I am never going to
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: touch the field. Right. It was kind of similar to Perdue, Like, yeah,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I get recruited, but I get recruited alongside two other quarterbacks,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: right that were highly touted guys from the Midwest, big
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: time recruits coming to play in the spread offense. Right,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Like that was the big Lawrie, We're gonna throw a
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: fifty times a game. And I show up, so there's
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: seven guys there to play quarterback my true freshman year.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: So once again it's like, oh gosh, you know I'm
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: gonna end up, you know, holding being at tackling dummy
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: here for a few years, right, maybe even get the
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: chance to step on the field. Well, I ended up
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: kind of becoming a backup quarterback to a fifth year
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: senior my true freshman year and played in about seven
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: or eight games, one of those being in a critical
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: moment against Michigan State. Nick Saban was the head coach there,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: like our guy was not playing, benched him. They put
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: me in. I'm kind of like, you know, the young
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: freshman going to come and start slanging it. I had
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: no idea what I was doing. I threw a ball
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: against tip gets intercepted. They pulled me back out, put
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: the fifthyar senior in. Ironically, we go down and score
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: like two touchdowns and win the game. But but like
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: plenty of moments there where man, you're just you're just
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: questioning whether you belong you know, I think that there's
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: always especially those moments as you kind of tick up levels,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: you know, from high school to college to the pros,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: they have those moments of like, man, like a little
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: bit of self doubt, like do I belong here? And
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: it's a bit overwhelming, and it and it and it
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: is where you just have to It's like you got
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: to just trust your training and trust your instincts and
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: trust the process and you know a lot of a
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: lot of self belief, but also just you know, the
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: overcoming of adversity and feeling like if you do things
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the right way, good things are going to happen. And
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: and then and then you get to the point where
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: you almost man. You embrace, embrace the adversity, you embrace
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: the challenges. Look there there there were some defining moments
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: in in college. I say one of the biggest ones
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: was I ended up winning the starting job my sophomore year.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: So we open up the year at USC kind of
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: a big, big moment first start in the coliseum against
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: the USC Trojans in nineteen ninety eight. We end up
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: losing that game, but I kind of felt like, okay, man,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: I'm you know, I can do this. And then we
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: end up playing I think it was Central Florida and Rice.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: We get wins there, and then all of a sudden,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: it's kind of like leading up to this big game
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: at Notre Dame. Notre Dame is top ten and this
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: is like dream come true, like going to play at
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Notre Dame. Ye, I'm a sophomore, like this was one
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: of the whole reasons that I chose to come to
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Purdue was to be able to play in games like this.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: And for fifty eight minutes of that game, I play
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: absolutely lights out, like I just like I blacked out
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: and just and we end up like we're beating the
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: top top ten team in the country as little old
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Perdue coming into Notre Dame. And then unfortunately in the
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: last two minutes, like we're just trying to just ice
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: the game, just get one first down, Notre Dame spurning timeout.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: So we get to third and ten and Coach kind
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: of kind of like, hey, I'm going to call a
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: pass play. I'm putting this thing in your hands, like
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: let's go get this first time and go win this game.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: And it was kind of like one of these rollout plays,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: and I'm throwing the ball over the middle to a
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: guy and I just let the ball sail a little
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: bit hot and it kind of tips off his fingertips
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: and Tony Driver, the free safety, picks it off, runs
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: it back to like the two yard line, they kick
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: a field goal to take the lead, and then we
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: have another now two minute drive to try to go
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: win it, and I throw another pick, So basically two
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: picks in the final two minutes. And dude, when I say, well,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: first off crew had one at Notre Dame in like
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: thirty years, Okay. And so I'm sitting here looking at
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: all the seniors in the locker room and everybody's like crying,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: and just you know, like we had fought so stinking
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: hard and I was sitting there going, dude, you are
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: responsible for this pain, right, you know what I mean?
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Like we all have these.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: It's like and then but and then we insult injury.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Like we we now ride the bus back to the Purdue.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: We bust up to South Bend for this game. It's
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: only like two and a half hours away. So I'm
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: riding the bus back to Purdue and I'm literally just
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: staring out at the cornfields you know in Indiana, and
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I'm just like, all right, this is like you have
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: a choice here, right, Like you can just go in
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: the tank as a result of what just happened. Where
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you can you know, freaking bow up, stiff upper lip
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: man and show these guys what you're made of.
- 1:08:26Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: And so look, a tough week of practice, but it
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: was just like, lock in focus. This has to be
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: your best performance. And then we come out against Minnesota
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: and I think I went thirty one to thirty six
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: for five hundred and twenty two yards and six touchdowns.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, every single game record in for new history.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: That next game, and it was kind of like one
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: of these misty, eerie day like Midwest fall days. But
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: it was just like it all kind of came together
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: and it was one of those I don't know, it
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: was like those one of those proven moments to myself.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: They're like, you can, you can, you can overcome one
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: of these kind of devastating os that mentally could really
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: mess with.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: You, right, absolutely devastating to come back.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: To that next week and just and absolutely put your
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: best foot forward. And I don't know, I just it
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: proved a lot to myself.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: Yeah, two pigs in those last two drives, You're you're
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: definitely you're trying to the game. Yeah, trying. You're putting
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: that entire game on yourself. Like, fuck, maybe I am
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: who they think.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: I am, right right, Maybe maybe my mom was wrong.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: I should have just played baseball and you're going way
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: back in all time, Yeah I should I should have
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: quit the whole entire time. Dude, What was like being
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: a sophomore and having that happen at the end of
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: the Notre Dame game? Were there any like seniors? How
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: was the leadership in that building at that time? Were
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: they like come up to you and checking you, putting
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: their hand on your shoulder, But hey, it's going to
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: be all right or was it like leave the kid
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: alone and see what he does. No one's coming to
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: save you vibes.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: No, I would say we had we have pretty good
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: We had good culture on that team, and we had
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: a good group of guys, and honestly, we had we
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: had We had guys that had been kind of beaten
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: down for a while, you know, like Perdue hadn't had
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: a lot of success, you know up to that point,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: you know, fifteen straight losing seasons or something like that,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: and just a lot of dysfunction. You know, when Joe
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Tiller got there, he had cleaned house on a lot
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: of guys. You know, like that was a really tough
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: first you know, spring ball, where he was honestly trying
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: to run some guys out right and just make sure
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: that he kind of kept the right guys. And so
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: everybody who was there like had earned their right to
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: be there, and it was because they were great leaders
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: and we're great you know, they had formed the culture
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: and so man, I did have plenty of guys that
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: put their arm mom and like, hey man, we got you,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: we believe in you, and obviously that means a lot.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: But also knew I had to prove it to him.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so just for more context, everybody that already knows
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Drew Brees, but just gonna say it again. Six foot
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: you know less than two hundred pounds. Around two hundred pounds,
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: You tear your acl. You gotta bum you gotta bum
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: ACL over five seconds in the forty you still get
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: drafted in the second round to the chargers tear the
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: ship out of your shoulder. Can you give us a
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: look inside your mental your mind during that process, because
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: in your career, in your journey, you've had to trust
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: your instincts, You've had to stay true to your beliefs,
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: what you believe in everything else. Can you give us
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: a look inside that moment when you tore your shoulder
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: with the chargers and how close you were to potentially
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: not playing ever again. I think you failed to physical
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: later on as well, Like, give us a look inside
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: of that story of overcoming that adversity.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so, uh, that was uh at the time, man,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: that was that was about as devastating as it gets
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: because that was that was truly a moment where I
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: felt like my dream was just being ripped away, Like, uh,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: that I would that I would never play football again.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: And look my first five years with the San Diego Chargers, man,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: there were there were plenty of ups and downs. I
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: came in as a rookie and backed up Doug Flutie
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: for a year.
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: Yeah, which was tab Doug flute.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: As a guy to learn fromhim and as a mentor
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: for four years because he ended up being backing me
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: up for three years. Was pivotal for me in my
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: growth development and for my career. But during that stretch
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: where I was the starter, I was benched three times
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: by Marty Schottenheimer for various reasons.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Sometimes it was turning the ball over too much. Sometimes
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: it wasn't getting the job done. Sometimes it was just
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: hey we need to spark. I'm gonna throw Fluti in there.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: But like, nonetheless, for a young guy who's working so
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: hard to establish himself, you know, as the starter for
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: a team and gain that respect and that belief from
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: my teammates in the organization, man, that's a shot to
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: the ego, right And like, never had I had a
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: moment in my career where I truly lost confidence. And
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: there was definitely a moment or two during that stretch
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: where you would say, like I lost confidence like I
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: was just not sure if I could get the job
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: done right, and yet Man had battled through that, and
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: you know, off season is just dedicating myself to being
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: the very best leader that I could be quarterback, Like
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: looking at my diet, my sleep pat is like I
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: was leaving no stone unturned and finally had kind of
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: reached this point four to five, We're okay, like I
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: am now a good player in this league and I'm
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: clearly the starting quarterback of this team and earned the
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: right to be the franchise quarterback for this organization. And
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: then going into the very last game of the two
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: thousand and five season, which was the end of my contract,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: so it was like, Okay, I've made it all the
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: way through. I've proven it, and now's the opportunity to
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: get the commitment from the organization long term. You're our guy,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: despite the fact that they drafted Philip Rivers, you know,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: two years previous, who is now my backup? Like, Man,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: I am going to be the guy. And then that
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: very last game against the Denver Broncos, you know, I
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: come out of a you know, a pile of jumping
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: for a fumble and I have this dislocated right throwing shoulder.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: Literally my arm is stuck like this. It dislocated out
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: the bottom and it was just stuck like that. So
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: I remember walking to the sideline. It's kind of like
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: one of these rainy days, and like, I like, my
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: body's in shot, but I know exactly what it is,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: and I know the gravity of the situation, you know.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: And I sat there as I'm walking off the field
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: and I literally thought to myself, this the last time
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: I'm never going to put on a charge of uniform.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: And then I get to the sideline, I was like,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: you know, this maybe last time I ever played football game.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: As the doc is like, you know, lethal weapons, sliding
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: my shoulder back into my socket and even, you know,
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: a couple of days after that, like I go see
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: doctor James Andrews, who was the preeminent you know, or
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: with the people surgeon down at Birmingham, Alabama, and literally
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: he's looking at me like, hey, you have so much
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: swelling in that shoulder. I really don't know the extent
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: of the damage. Like just let me get in there
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: and figure it out and then I'll kind of tell
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: you when it's done. So like literally, as I'm going
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: under for surgery, I still don't know what's going to
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: happen or even the gravity the whole you know, injury.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: And I end up coming out of the surgery and
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: he's like, well, you know, he goes like, if I
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: if I had to do that surgery one hundred times,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I couldn't do as well as I just did it.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: That was this message to me. So I was like, Okay,
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: that's what I want to hear. Doctor, Like what does
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: that mean? He's like, he's like, look, you have a
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: long road ahead of you. Like it's a minimum eight
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: months before you're even going to ever start to be
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: able to throw again. He's like, I put you back together,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: but man, this reheab process is going to be a
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: bear and you're going to have to learn how to
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: throw again, right. And there's kind of some non negotiables
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: about the rehab as we go along here. I mean,
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: I was trying to push the envelope as much as
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I could. But here's something interesting that happened in that
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: during that that that chain of events. So I actually
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: going into that last year, my agent had recommended that
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I get an insurance policy on my shoulder, I mean,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: or basically just on my you know, my body, my career,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: right like, hey, you know, you have the chance to
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: sign a long term contract which should be worth a
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: lot of money if something happens to you this year,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: she get a like a Woyds of London contract, uh
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: insurance contract just in the event that something happens and
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: you can't play. So there was a moment where I
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: had to make a decision as to whether I was
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: going to collect the insurance policy and never play again,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: where I was going to attempt to play again and
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: avoid the insurance policy, which.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: I'm sure the insurance policy was probably a pretty hefty
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: amount of.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: Care to share that number at all of what that
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: insurance policy was to show.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: I think it was like five million bucks. Here was
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: five million bucks that I could just take the five
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: million in the walk or or attempt to play again
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: and again. There was no guarantees right that that that
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I would play again. But but I I was like,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: you know what ripped that thing up?
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: Man?
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Like I just I feel like God's got me, and
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: this is this is even though this is the path
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: that I wouldn't choose, Like this is this is the
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: one I'm on and and and I'm going to be
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: better for it, and I think that's that's that's really
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: the way I look at that, a c L injury
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: with my with my knee in high school. You know,
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: at the time, I thought, Hey, this is that state,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: and it's the worst thing ever could happen to me.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: I'm missing, you know, the basketball seat in the baseball seat.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I'm not going to get recruited. Like, yes, did it
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: alter my path? Maybe it did, but man, it molded me,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: strengthened me. It made me stronger in my faith. It
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: did so many things for my path and my direction
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: that you know at times that we leave it up
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: to our own devices, you know, I think that's when,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: you know, we realized that, you know, God has us
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: right where he wants us, and it's all for a reason.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: It's all meant to mold us in a lot of
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: different ways. And both those injuries did that for me.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: And look, I never would have ended up with the
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints and had that incredible, incredible experience, incredible run,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: incredible journey that we had there over the course of
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: fifteen years, and obviously that became about so much more
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: than just football. But I never had the chance to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: be a part of that if it wasn't for going
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: through those things.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: Yeah, man, how long did that rehab process take? In totality?
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Man, the shoulder was a solid eight months. So, you know,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: surgery was early January, and literally I wasn't ready until
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: week one of the season, you know, so call it
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: in early September. You know, I went through training camp,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: but I was on a pitch count, you know, so
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: I was, you know, kind of ramping up twenty throws
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: and then thirty throws and then forty throws, and I
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: mean I can remember my first couple of throws. I'm
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: sitting there throwing a slant and just dirting them, you know.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: And you know, you can ask Sean Payton. Sean Payton's
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: looking at our quarterback coach who had been with me
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: in San Diego, and was like, hey, are we seeing
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: the best of him right now? And my QB coach
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: would be like, hey, well there's more there, There's more there.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: Just be patient. And truly it was one of those
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: things where it was like if I threw forty throws
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: in a day, maybe two or three of them were good. Really,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: then the next day it was four or five, and
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: the next day it was five or six and then
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: then seven, and that you know it just gradually each day,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: so truly trusting the process and not getting frustrated and
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: just knowing that, man, it's just going to keep getting stronger.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: It's going to keep getting better. And the I rening
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: with that whole thing is like, honestly, I I came
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: back so much stronger, like I'm saying, like a stronger arm,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: like a stronger lower half, like better mechanics, Like everything
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: came back better. And it was probably a result of
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: literally having to like rebuild the foundation for throwing again,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: like literally having to learn how to throw the football again.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: So mechanically it was almost like, Okay, any deficiencies that
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: I had before, I can correct them now because I'm
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: literally like rewiring the system just to get back on
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: the field again.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: I got a So I got kind of a two
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: part of here because we kind of brushed over the
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: insurance policy a little bit. I want to know, like
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: who you talked to in that process, how long of
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: a thought process it was before You're like, Lesten, five
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: million dollars sounds great, but I'm gonna I'm gonna keep
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: betting on me. And then also, how did we get
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: to New Orleans from you know, having the shoulder surgery,
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: playing your last game as a Charger.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's a main conversations with my wife and
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: then with my agent. You know, my agent was Tom Condon,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Old Tommy yep ye. So you know, I think it
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: was you know, with Tom like man. Tom was always
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: so just kind of poised, even keel like Tom. I
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: always felt like you talk about agent, do you just
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: feel like has your back man at all times? And
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: like I, I I think as devastated as we all were,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: that I was just in that situation. I think Tom,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: if anything, gave me a ton of belief that that
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: I could come back and and and not only play,
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: but play at a high level, you know, and and
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: so it was just reinforcing what I what I wanted
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: to hear, you know, I just I just wanted I
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: just wanted to feel like I just had everybody in
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: my camp, you know, and everybody that was there to
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: help push me to be you know, the best that
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I could be. But but certainly, you know, just be unwavering,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: you know, in that belief. And he was one of
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: those guys. Of course, my wife and so yeah, I
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: think at the end of the day, it became an
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: easy decision, like I'll always regret if I don't, you know,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: make a run at it, you know. But I think
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: I think all that is to say that, like just
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: the reality of the situation with my shoulder, Like if
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: you ask doctor Andrews, he would tell you that he
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: didn't think I was going to be able to come
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: back and play again, even though he put it back
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: together as good as he possibly could. It's like, just
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: the probabilities are not good. I've just he had never
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: seen that injury in a throne ever, Like that was
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: a bull rider's injury when a bull rider gets his
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: arm caught in the rope. This is what he told me.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: That's what he sees. The dislocation out of the bottom. Right,
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: that's gnarally, man, that's gnarly three hundred and sixty degree
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: tear of the labor. And so I had thirteen anchors
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: in my shoulder. Like literally I would do rehab and
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: it would sound like a cold rubber band. It was
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: these anchors in my shoulder, like just ringing in my ear.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Now do it. That's like a vivid memory of.
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: Rehab and in context for people I tore my shoulder
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: as well, and it works like a clock like I
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: had twelve, Like thirteen is something extra has to be
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: happening to your shoulder for him to have thirteen anchors.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: So here's so Zach Thomas had surgery the same day
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: that I did with a similar injury. But you guys
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: playing linebacker, they're going to fix you differently because you're
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: not required to have all this external rotation, right.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: We'll have there is for our lives.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, tighten you guys up right because you
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: don't you don't need all that.
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: Right, We're just right here, but yeah, exactly.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: But but for QB rotational athlete need all this external
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: internal like it's it's got to be stable enough but
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: loose enough, you know. So it's like it's walking this
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: delicate line, right and yeah, through the rehab process, it's
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: just about building their strengthen and around that joint to
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: protect it. But yeah, I mean it was like a
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: work of art as I think about what doctor Andrews
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: had to put back together and perform.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Dude, that is incredible. Again, like you given that perspective too,
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: Like I'm not even thinking about it on Zach Thomas,
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: like having similar surgeries and they gotta do it a
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: little bit differently because the quarterback, linebacker and everything else,
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: and just you still overcoming that and I appreciate you
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: sharing all that with this too, because I know, like
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: if you're if you're young, like I'm thirty six, I
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: want to say you started to take off when I
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: was like in high school, right, Like, wasn't it like
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: when you're having like the four thousand yard seasons, isn't
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: it around like what O seven, eight oh six? Maybe?
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Yeah? Six O six was our first year with the
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Saints and that was that was really the start of
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: the run.
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: So even at my age, like I remember, like there
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: were a couple of moments where I'm getting reminded that
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: you played on the San Diego Chargers. I'm getting reminded
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: your actual laboram story came up during my rehab process
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: on Just Guys. It was like you, I want to say,
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: rich Gannon was another one. But you're like learning about
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: these things about like Drew Brees that you that everybody
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: knows of as a Hall of Fame quarterback, Like anybody
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: young that just watched you basically your Saints days has
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: really you know, they could be hearing this for the
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: first time, just be thinking, Oh shit, he played on
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: It's always the Oh shit, he played on the Chargers.
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Oh shit, Philip Rivers was a backup him for a
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: couple of years. Oh he was behind Doug Flutie, like
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: the Drew Brees that we all know right now. It's crazy.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: So I appreciate you walking us down those those those
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: old memories.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a little bit of memory laying there. But
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: and then every every one of those Look, I consider
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: myself really lucky from a coaching perspective. You know, Joe
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: Tiller in college, who was so influential for me, Marty
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: Schottenheimer with the Sandy Which Charterers, Sean Payton with the
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints, so pretty rare that you would just have,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: you know, that that level of stability, you know, at
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: each level and each each one of those guys, I
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: just have lessons that continue to ring in my ear,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: you know, each and every day, especially as now I'm
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: coaching and I'm coaching my kids and other kids, and
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: just you know, a lot of my style has been
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: modeled off of those guys.
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: Yeah, we have a lot of guys.
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: We have Clay Matthews, on one of our Locker Room
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: show that comes out on Thursdays, and we also have
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: and just hearing about these coaches and how their approach
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: to these kids. What is what is your approach with
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: your children? Are you hardest on your kids a little
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: easier on the other kids. Gregson, he's coaching his.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: Actually I love watching greg stuff. I know I ran
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: is he's coaching middle school football. I was coaching my
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: eighth grade Pop Warner son this year, and I coached
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Pop Worner the last two years too for my my
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: freshman son. Yeah, it's I would say my style. Well,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: first off, I think it's very hard for parents to
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: coaching kids because it is very natural to try to
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: over coach them, right. It's like you feel like every
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: lesson that comes to your mind to teach them, you
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: just like, ah, it's just coming out at all times,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: and you want to coach a mike on every play.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: And that's where it just becomes difficult, is blurring those
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: lines between like dad and the house, and then you
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: know I'm your coach. You can't tell how many times
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I've I've had to look my son in the eye
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: and say, hey, so like right now, I'm your coach.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: I'm not your dad. Okay, I'm your coach, so listen
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: to me.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: Right to what I say.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but i'd say this, like overall, I'd say, I'm
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: pretty intense, but I try to I try to be
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: intense with my praise as much as I am intense
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: with my correction, right, So it's not it's not just
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: one sided I, I would say. I I also I
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: also try to really put each position, each kid in
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: the best position to succeed, and and try to find
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: moments where you can put them in a position where
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: you are able to give them praise. I find that
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: so many, so many of these kids like to watch
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: their growth from the start of the year to the
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: end of the year, like is monumental. And I think
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: that's where we see the sport of football as just
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: being like this creator of men, right and good young men.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: There's just so many life lessons to be learned through
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: the sport, and it's almost like you're just looking for
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: those moments that you can set up in practice or
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: or in a game that you can immediately spin back
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: to being a life lesson. And then I think, like
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: that recap at the end of every practice and the
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: recap at every at the end of every game are
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: probably some of my favorite moments. You know, it's like, hey,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: you kind of go around the circle all the coaches, Hey,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: what did we learn today? And then you just try
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: to take something that happened to practice and then bring
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: it back to life, right like the effort of some
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: kid or you know whatever it might be. Like, I
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: just I find that that those are the most valuable
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: parts of coaching these young kids.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:28:02Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: You we we broke down the shoulder thing a little bit.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Now we're in the process. You're going this eight month
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: rehab where we don't know if you can play again.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: You've ripped up the insurance policy. Your wife's like, I
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: believe in you. Tom Connin's like, I believe in you.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Tom connit's paid to believe in you. Yet you still
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: believe that he believed that what is his how is
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: he going out? And what other teams is he talking to?
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: That ended up you going to the New Orleans Saints.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say because of the just you know,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: unknowns with the shoulder and and the fact that I
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: think word had gotten out that you know, I had
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: a twenty five percent chance of coming back and playing,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: you know, that was that was what the Miami Dolphins
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: doctors had assessed with me, and they had told Nick
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Saban that they had told the the UH the organization
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: that because at the end of the day, it came
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: down to the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: as being the two teams that were trying to bring
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: me in as the starter. There was a lot of
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: teams that were like, hey, we'll bring you in as
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: basically like a backup, and let's just see what you
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: got right, Let's see, let's see if you can if
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: you can come back. But the Saints and the Dolphins
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: were the only two that were coming after me to
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: be their starting quarterback.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: When you look at the NFL now and there's all
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: these talks around quarterbacks, should they play as a rookie,
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: all these young quarterbacks who struggle. Then you look at
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: examples like Sam Darnold, who's in the Baker Mayfield gyle Jones, Yeah,
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: Daniel Jones, and obviously clearly it's it was a sim
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: It was very similar with yourself, like what do you
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: feel like you look at with these guys to where
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: it's you know, everybody's wanting to either say they're not
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: the guy, or they're a bust, or they just need
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: to be in a better situation, Like what are you
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: seeing when you watch kind of these conversations unfold, pulling
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: from your own experience seeing these guys now have success
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: after having a rocky start in the NFL.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Look, man, it's a great it's a great question, and
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: it's and it's probably it's definitely in exact science because
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: we see it, we see it succeed and fail a lot. Right.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: The first thing I would say is you just you
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: can't replace experience, and so the more experience a guy has,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: the more that you are going to see what he's
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: capable of and what you have. So I'll give you examples, Like,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: first off, I think that every NFL, you know, any
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: young player needs at least forty to fifty high level
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: starts before you're going to see, you know, what they're
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: capable of. I think too many times guys get drafted
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: and maybe they've only started for a year, year and
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: a half or two in college and they're expected to
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: come in and it just to happen like that's that's
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: not that's not reality. The reality is if a guy
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: has a limited number of starts in college, it's probably
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: going to take him a good two to three years
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: in the NFL before you're going to know what you have.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: And if he's in a situation where look as it is,
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: in most cases, most top ten pick quarterbacks, top fifteen
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: pit quarterbacks are going to teams that aren't very good.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: That's why they're drafting that high, or they have a
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: lot of other holes to fill, and so it's just
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: even more pressure that's falling on the quarterback position, right,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: And everybody's got this win now mentality and man, we
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: don't have time.
- 1:31:23Speaker 10: I get it.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: But at the same time, you also have to understand that, man,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: the maturation process for a quarterback takes takes a little time.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: The guys that do come in and maybe have more
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: success early probably has a lot to do with the
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: team that they're on and the system and the staff,
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: but also the amount of experience. Okay, So like the
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: rookies that came in and had success last year, Okay,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: like the bow Knicks Oennicks started sixty games in college,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: Jade and Daniels. Jade Daniels started four seasons I think
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: two years for Arizona State two years for LSU, right,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: Rock Purty, Rock Purty started fifty one games at Iowa State, right,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: and every time they stept on the field, they were
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: not the better team, right, Like they were the underdogs.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: They have a chip on the shoulder like they had
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: to kind of like you know, gritty. So I think
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: those would be examples of all right, a lot of experience,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: so better position to maybe have some success you know,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: early in the NFL, but still a process.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: Is it still the same formula even if they're having
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: success early, Like, is it still kind of the same
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: formula or system in your head to where it's like
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: you still want to see a good forty fifty high
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: level starts in the NFL Because people talk about they
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: try to break down Bowe nixt all the time. Like
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: you played for Sean Payton. Everybody's like this partnership, this
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: is who Sean wanted. It seems like bow Nick Drew
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: Brees has that mental Yeah, he has that mental fort two.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: He has that kind of it factor on wanting to
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: compete and learn and be really great. He also started
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: a shitload of games, so if he has a down game, people,
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: I feel like the conversation will be well, he had
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: all these starts, he's kind of as good of a
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: prod product as he's going to be. And it's like, well,
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: there's still some separation from college to the NFL, right,
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: what do you see that situation? Like with like Bo
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Nicks and Sean Payton in Denver or an example like that.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: Some of it, too, is the style of offense that
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: a lot of these college programs are running man. So
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: much of it's no huddle, so much of its shotguns,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: so much of it is RPO. You know, we're really
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: you're kind of pigeonholing the quarterbacks into In most cases
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: you're just reading like one person, or you're just reading
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: like this small section of field, and so you don't
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: really get a chance to learn a ton about coverage
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: or even like in other words, I don't know if
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: your football IQ is is where it needs to be,
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: or if you've really been in positions where you've been
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: forced to kind of learn all of those things until
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: you get to the NFL and then all of a
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: sudden it is men, the best teams are the ones
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: that can get under center and run the ball like
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: that's you would know will like as a linebacker, if
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: you're exclusively in shotgun, I think that gives you. That
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: gives you a lot more benefit than all of a
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: sudden offense that is under center. We're going to pound it.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: Oh here comes play action, right, opening up shots down
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: the field. Oh there's the screen game. Oh there's the shotgun.
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: Oh we're going empty right, like this variety that you
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: can throw at defenses in the NFL. If you have
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: the ability to go under center and add that component,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: I think makes you much more of a problematic offense.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: And I think from a quarterback perspective, it's a skill
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: set that you need to have. Like I watched the
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: New England Patriots right now on the Colts two of
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: the teams that are under center the most, and they're
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: having some of the most success. And I think it's
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: really benefiting those quarterbacks and Daniel Jones and Drake may So.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: I bring that point up just to say that I
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: think a lot of these kids now are doing things
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: in college that then they come to the NFL and
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: then they're having to do stuff that maybe they've never
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: done before, maybe they've never been under center. But man,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: like that's a big benefit to that. I had a
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: little bit of that that learning curve. When I came
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: in the league, we were spread offensive Purdue throwing the
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: ball fifty times a game. I was in shotgun ninety
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: percent of the time. I get into a pro style
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: offense with Ladanian Tomlinson and like a true fullback of
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Lorenzo Meal, and guess what, I'm under center like seventy
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: five percent of the time right having to turn my
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: back to the defense on play action Like I never
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I didn't know what that was, right, right, So that
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: that took That took a little time. I saw that
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: with bo Nicks last year because I know Sean Payton
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: likes to do that, right, So again it's what system
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: where they in and then what are you asking them
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: to do now? And just understanding there's gonna be a
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: little bit of a learning curve that goes along with that.
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: Yeah, we will brought up that, you know, the bow
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: Nick Sean Payton relationship. Everyone always kinds of lean on,
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: like Sean Payton has found his new Drew Brees bow
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: Knicks student of the game, true professional, very dialed in
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: in his routine. Did you ever have a conversation with
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: Sean Payton about the possibility of bo Knicks or as
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: bow Knicks reached out to you and be like, Hey,
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: this guy's a really intense coach. How do or so,
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: how do I get him to like me a little bit?
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: More like what do I got to do?
- 1:36:00Speaker 10: Like?
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: Have you had any conversations with those two about their relationship?
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I've I remember talking to Sean a
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: bunch during the draft process when all, you know, six
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: of those quarterbacks were out there, and you know, him
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: talking about who he liked, and ironically, he loved Bo.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: He loved Bo from from the very beginning, and then
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Bo kind of fell in his lap at whatever that was,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: pick twelve or thirteen. And I think Bo has all
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: the traits that Sean loves. First off, Bo's a fiery competitor.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Sean likes. Sean likes having a guy like that, even
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: a guy who's going to kind of snap back at him.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: I think that Sean Payton comes from the Bill Parcells
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: world of coaching, which is, you know, Bill Parcells would
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: get audien, you know, and I think Bill loved when
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: you would come back to him with conviction, you know
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: about about you know, whatever it was. And so Sean
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: likes that type of a guy and obviously bo to
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: multi sport athlete, a ton of experience, you know, knows
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: what he likes. Definitely a learning curve, you know with
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: some of the things in Sean Payton's offense, and I
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: think you've seen him grow and mature through that. Yeah.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: I've had many conversations with Bo too. I think just
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: at the end of the day, just about like preparation
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: and process situation some time within this offseason. A great kid.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: Man loves ball and what's would be great.
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: You definitely see the mental four or two with bone knicks.
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: This last game against the Giants, I think they were.
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: They scored thirty six and the fourth.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: Thirty three and the fourth man.
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: Isn't that crazy?
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: Unreal, unbelievable because you thought, like, I'm watching Jackson Dart
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: and he's getting a couple of penalties and that lasting
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: I'm like, this kid is really lighting the NFL on fire.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: And they score relatively quickly. It's like, holy shit, bon
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: Nix is about to do just too. Yeah, he's about
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: to do it. If we go travel back down to
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: the Bayou a little bit. You got Spencer Rattler. He's
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: a first year starter of South Carolina game cog JP
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: Huffy sitting on the bus with us.
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: What are you.
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: Seeing out of Kellen Moore as his first time being
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: a head coach at the Saints. Spencer Radler seems like
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: he has a lot of success. Then it's like then
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: he throws like two or three picks in a game
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: and the kind of like finding their identity on offense.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: What do you see him from the New Orleans Saints
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: right now?
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Look, I think Spencer Rattler has a lot of unique traits.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: I think he throws the ball extremely well. I think
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: he's he has the ability to improvise, to problem solve.
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: He's taken off and run and made some exceptional plays
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: with his legs this year. So from that perspective, he
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: has all those traits. I think he's got a little
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: monoxie to him. Look, I've always liked Kellen Moore's systems.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: Wherever he's been been a lot of places. Has had
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: to put together offenses for a lot of quarterbacks, and
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: I think that's what he's been really good at is
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: putting together offenses that fit the strengths of the qbs
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: and the personnel around him. I know what's tough as
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: you sit here, because you're like, ah, they're not a
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: one in sixteen. They certainly don't look like one in
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: sixteen when you watch them. They've been in most of
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: their games, like most of their games have come down
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: to a final drive where they had a chance to win, tie,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: certainly extend the game, and a way to win. Look
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: on the flip side, you look at the Tampa Bay Bucks.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: You know they found ways to win. Unfortunately, the Saints
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: just have it right and their records reflect that. But
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I think they're building something there. They've got a ton
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: of pieces on offense, They've got one of the better
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: old lines in football. Defensively, they've got a great core
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: group of guys, giving up too many big plays the
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: last couple of weeks. But otherwise they have all the pieces,
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: you know, So I think you just kind of scratch
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: your head. They just haven't found ways to win some
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: of these close ones.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: If somebody called you right now, if Kilmore College is
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: I need I need one game, one game at you
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: to show these young bucks, what's what do you think
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: with your competitive drive and you had we'll give you
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: three weeks to train, could you go in and be
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: competitive in an NFL football game today.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Well, now, look, I would know, I would know where
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: to throw it. I just don't know if I could
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: get it there.
- 1:40:00Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Yeah, turn out the tape. I know where it's supposed
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: to go.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: Uh, now that the right that's that's one. That's one
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: lingering effect from the uh from the shoulder surgery back.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: You know twenty years ago now was doctor Andrews said,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: you know, hey, you're you're you're gonna be on the
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: fast track now for a degenerative shoulder, and you know
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: at some point this thing is going to kind of
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: take a steep dive. And unfortunately, I think I'm at
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: that point, Like I don't I don't throw with my
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: right arm anymore. I actually throw left handed. I kind
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: of started doing that towards actually, just with my kids
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: because I come home after a long day of practice
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: and I didn't have anything left in the right arm
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: and they but the boys want to play catch.
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: So yeah, left hand, you throw.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: I throw left handed. I'm hey, I'm I'm pretty I'm
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: pretty mean inside of inside of thirty with this left dude.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: You bring up a unique point though, that a lot
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: of a lot of players don't think about while they're playing,
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: is the wear and tear that's taking place in their body.
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: Now that you've been at the leaf for a few
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: years now, and you know, my shoulder, I was told
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: it's gonna be on a fast track. What kind of
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: things are you doing to kind of keep your body
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: ahead of the chains so you don't kind of just
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: kind of go downhill? Not just a shoulder from a
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: body standpoint.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Yeah, now a great question. Look, I I still love
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: I mean, I just love athletics and I love to
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: be active. So man, I play a bunch of racket sports,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: like I played a bunch of Podel pickle. I still like.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: I like the mountain bike. I like to you know,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: get in the water and stand a paddle or surf
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: of course, just all this stuff that I do with
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: my kids, you know, athletically. And then look, I like
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: to train. I like to I like to lift heavy
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: weights at least twice a week, you know, especially lower body.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: Like once you're a rotational athlete, like I never want
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: to lose. Like you think about what you lose with
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: the aging process. You lose the ability to go fast,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: you lose the ability to recover, and then you just
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: lose the ability to do it, you know, day after day, right,
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: and as you stay on top of so like flexibility
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: is important, so like yoga plates, all those things to
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: make sure that I'm staying like pliable. I mean, I
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: still get bodywork and I saw in a cold tub
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: like religiously, and then honestly just to staying strong like
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: I want to. I want to feel like especially part
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: of this is maybe motivation because my boys are getting
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: older and like they walk in the kitchen, they try
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: to size you up, right, don't walk up, don't walk
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: up on me, boy, Yeah, you gotta gotta you got
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: you gotta keep pace, man, and some of it they're
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: always eyeing you man like you know so, so I
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: I feel like that's that's what motivates me. But I
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: just want to. I just want to be able to
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: do all the things that I want to do for
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: as long as I possibly can. I used to use
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: the term at the end of my career prolong my prime.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: I was always trying to prolong my prime with everything
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: I was doing. So man, from a training, recovery, all
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: that stuff. It's almost like I'm still playing from that perspective.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I still have that same mentality.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: I love that all right, Time to eliminate some some friends.
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: Time to some hearts. Best offensive weapon that you've ever had?
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: You got to play with la Danian Thomas and Jimmy Graham,
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: Alvin Kamara, Darren Sprolls, Michael to You got to play
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: with a lot of specimens. Yeah, who's your favorite offensive
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: weapon you've ever played with?
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you, man, I might say, darren Sproles.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: Oh okay, well these rolls.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: Would you want to call it? Cover Sprolls out of
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: the backfield?
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: No?
- 1:43:23Speaker 10: No.
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: When he was in Philly and I would have him
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: out in the flat when I was on the Redskins
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: and he wouldn't catch the ball, I'd be like, Hey,
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: I'm really glad Sam Bradford did not throw you this
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: ball out here. We pat each other on the helmet,
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: jog back.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: To the hutches. Yeah. You know what it's like. You
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: can have such a great defensive scheme, right, you can
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: have such a great pressure or you know, pass rush,
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: stunt or bracket coverage or whatever you know on tight
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: ends receivers, but like that, running back out of the
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: backfield can ruin your day as a as a defense
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: and as a defensive coordinator. So I just I taught,
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: you know, talking to our own defensive coordinators when we
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: had sprolls and then just watching you know, his career
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: and obviously what I know about him, he was just
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: such a weapon and a matchup problem and and like
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: we could find ways to beat you in so many,
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: so many different ways with him. The other thing too,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: was he didn't get enough credit as a runner yet. No,
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: he was not a big guy. I mean he was
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: five seven, one hundred and eighty pounds maybe. But here's
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: the other thing. Will like hard to see him when
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: he's behind lineman right like in the zone, in the
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: zone game, so like, he was slippery, slippery, and man,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: the minute that he like one cut found his lane, boy,
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: he was gone, right and then good luck open field
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: tackling him.
- 1:44:51Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: So like, for all those reasons, he just he was
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: a weapon that I like, I call him a generational player,
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: like generational if you know how to use him. And
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: as durable as he was. And I'm not even I
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: didn't even talk about the special team's game like him
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: returning punts is one of the best punt returners, probably
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: top three, top five of all time, all time. Yeah,
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: so yeah, he was.
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: He was special and I think too. It's like people
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: don't understand, like, especially when you get in the red
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: zone and that halfback option comes alive. You got to
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: do like one or two things. Like as a coordinator,
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: you're thinking, hey, will or any linebacker, it's like, take
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: away the space, stay inside. But everybody knows this running
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: back is gonna win nine times out of ten, So
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: what do you got to do to kind of help
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: with that out. You're gonna have to give like a
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: bam call to your edge rusher, so you're kind of
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: taking the edge rusher out of pressure. So if you're
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: aligning him too, hey, let's put him on the side
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: where the best pass rusher is and the backer back
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: there's got to give him a bam call. He's giving
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: a bam call. Pass rush is Matt, he doesn't get
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: the rush of passer. You're kind of arguing on the
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: sidelight and say, bro, I've got like I'm not gonna
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: be able to cut any linebacker. You're not able to
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: cover this dude, and you're gonna get because they want
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: to bracket take away the stars everywhere else. But it's
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: a fucking running back out of the backfield. That's honestly
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: the problem because you're not and again you're not lined up,
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: you're not on the line of scrimmage to where if
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: you're pressing or you're playing at say five yards, it's
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: not like the fundamental coverage of a receiver. This dude's
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: coming out of the backfield, who can stem you before
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: he even gets to where he's actually gonna make his cut,
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: which makes it insanely harder. Cordators will try to put
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: a safety down. Okay, let's get Willie boy all the game,
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: or let's get this backer who probably can't cover out
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: of the game. You'll put a safety in and they
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: show you still ten times out of ten, it's just
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: not gonna happen because it's not a it's not a
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: routine covered snap. It blows my mind and it'll always
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: piss me off.
- 1:46:43Speaker 11: Dree.
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: You can tell that will is he's telling us with
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: so much like fortitude. He's just so like aggressive the
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: way he's talking.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: No, no, But you know what, that was the part
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: that I forgot, Like just from a pass rush perspective,
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: he is exactly right like whenever sprolls he would line
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: up in the backfield to that week's side, Like all
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: of a sudden, that backer in a heartbeat is giving
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: that call to the end to try to chip them
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: all the way now right, Yeah, that affects the pass rush,
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: You know that Thursday Friday when they're going over red
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: zone with Will, They're like, hey, you got sprolls this
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: week this it's keep it inside, And Will was like,
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: I got them coaching. I'm looking at the fucker's gotta
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: make me do this.
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: I'm looking at.
- 1:47:24Speaker 10: That.
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I'm telling I'm like, Bro, I'm bamming you, like,
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: that's this is what if I get say, trips far gunner,
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: I identify where I'm going to get god right, because
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: not all the time, just at the backs off set.
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: But if I know I'm in this situation and I
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: know this is what's coming, I'm fucking baming you, bro,
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: like you're gonna hit that dude, stop rushing passion.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: Here's the other froll story and this just this kind
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: of just rounds out the total package. So we're playing
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: the Niners back when they had that legit defense. This
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: is like twenty thirteen. Oh yeah, Will, when we're we
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: have the chance to go down and beat them in
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: the end. So right, like we're on a two minute
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: drive and man sprolls is kill him out of the backfield,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: this and that, and then there's this one moment where
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: we all a pass play that's a man beater, and
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: sure enough, here's Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman boy hitting
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: these a gaps right and Sposey's in the backfield. And
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: I remember, like right before the play, I said, hey, bro,
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: I'm not gonna do this to you often, but you
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: got a boat. You just got to bow up on
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: this state right now, right like you got to step
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: up and you got to handle this guy. We can
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: deliver this ball down the field and man coverage and
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: you go kick a field, go to win this game.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: And dude, he steps up, and hey, those dudes were
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: oh yeah Bowman, oh yeah yeah, like the best.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: Of the yeah, one of the best pandems of all time.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Right, that's who everybody was watching. And Sposi comes up
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: and wow, right right in the chest of Bowman and
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: and just holds him off for long enough, right, so
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: we can deliver the ball down the field and man coverage,
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: like Jimmy Graham bidding field goal rains kick this game winner.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: But again, like that's that's the other part of being
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: like a back that goes probably un you know, unappreciated.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: You know, you talk a lot about what they can
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: do out of the backfield, You talk about the run game,
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: but at times they got step up and deliver a
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: blow on a guy and allow you to you know,
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: get the ball down the field the big situation. And
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: suppose he was always willing to do that at five
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: seven a buck eighty. Yeah, I love that pund dogs, Yeah.
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: I love that. Bud light question. Yeah, let's get out
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: of here, all right, Drew. We all know everyone would
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: do anything for an ice cold, crisp bud light.
- 1:49:23Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: If you could have a bud light with anybody in
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: the world, past or present, who would it be.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: Oh wow, that's a good one.
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: You know. I'm gonna say, uh, it's just the first
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: name that came to mind. I'm gonna say, Roger Stallbach.
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: Roger stab Yeah.
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I just we were at the Cowboys Commander's game yesterday.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: It was my son's birthday and his godfather is Brian Schotheimer.
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: So we were there. We were there watch watching the uh,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: watching the Cowboys play, and I remember I remember and
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: stallbuck before the game, and I was just thinking, like
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: one of the one of the all time greats, one
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: of the all times legends. There's actually a great story
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: I sang the uh take me out to the ball
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: game at Wrigley Field with Roger stallback back when I
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: was in college. That that that that that's the story
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: for another time. Yeah, but anyway, he's he's one of
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: my all time favorites and cowboy legend. And I just
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: saw him yesterday, so that was the first name that
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: came to mind.
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: I love it. Hey, we appreciate it, Drew. Thank you
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: for coming on. Thank you for sharing all those stories.
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: You're an absolute legend, Hall of famer, all the fun stuff.
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: What's up?
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, the boy.
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: They're out over here, just pointing at the chair on
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: the bus. We'd love to have you on the bus
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: one day. But thank you for your time.
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: Bro, absolutely, man. Thanks guys, appreciate you.
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: Just give right a plus drink. Appreciate you, Drew, have
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: a go on, man, Thank you very much.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: Yeah, what a guy.
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: That was fun? Why what dude? It was fun?
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: Were you guys able to hear some of that. Yeah,
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: did he was fun. That was definitely one where I'm
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: checking the time. I'm like, we're only gonna have time
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: for a few more. But like stories like that you'd
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: love to get into, or just his lead. Yeah, speeches leadership.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: Like he's like a Payton Manning type right where he
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: would just lose it on players at practice and like
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: send him the sideline.
- 1:51:32Speaker 4: That's the thing too, Like him and Sean Payton, they
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: were the first. That was the first time I experienced where's.
- 1:51:37Speaker 6: Mike gonna be still in the pot or we're gonna
- 1:51:41Speaker 6: cut this part?
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: Oh sorry, I could be in the potty. You felt
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: like this is awesome. Yeah, what I was saying to
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: where was I out helping?
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: You were talking about Sean first time you experienced Sean
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: Payton and Drew Brees.
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: Oh yeah, talking about his intensity and everything else like that.
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: That was when I was on the same So I
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: was kind of the first organization to where Sean Payton
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: would stop practice at any point of practice if something
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: came up, like not just like he had this plan,
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: but if a moment came up, or say an incompletion
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: or something happens, He's like thinking something in his mind
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: of a situation this could be in and they all
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: stop it, or Drew would have one. Everybody'd stop practice
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: and we would all come up as a team and
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: he'd be breaking down the situation. So that's why I
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: get fascinated because you also see clips too of Drew
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: Brees and Sean Payton sitting there the night before a
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: game like up late, going through every type of situational football.
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: And I'm thinking of that type of schooling that bo
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: Nix is getting, and it probably will even though he's
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: had so many starts, the difference in college and pros
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: and everything else, to where he's still very much immersed
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: in this like school of Sean Payton, to where he's
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: got the effect of wanting to learn it, but as
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: he continues to digest it, he'll like just continue to
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: get better because of how intense and situational I feel
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: like coach Coach Payton is.
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and like you could see bo Nicks taking that
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: next step because you're right, like college and NFL are
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: completely different sports, so there is gonna take some I
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: don't even know Bodenicks played sixty games or whatever many
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: it was, but you see it in that last drive
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: after Jackson Dart has that running for the touchdown. The
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: way he is working the sidelines and with time in
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: the middle of the field, he's from a situational football standpoint.
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: He's figuring it out quickly because they know exactly the
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: yardlin that you have to get to. You don't have
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: like the red line on the screen that all of
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: us are watching, and they know like, hey, our kicker
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: is great, best from this area, from this hash he's
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: working it. It's it's very impressive to see. So that
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: makes a lot of sense. You're talking about like Sean
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: Payton sitting there, he sees the situation that practice, like,
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: let's break this down for everybody.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: So they know the situation.
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that's awesome. That's just good coaching.
- 1:53:38Speaker 4: Get you juiced up. I can't imagine in those situations
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: where there's like there's no timeouts left, you're in a
- 1:53:45Speaker 4: double wall situation to where you're forcing them to throw
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: the ball to the inside. They might gain yardage, but
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: they're trying to maybe gain yardage and kick a field goal.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: Toh.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: It's like, however much time is left on the clock,
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: let's call it anywhere between like twelve and sixteen seconds
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: to where it's like there it's a per second margin
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: on Hey, this isn't good to call double wall yet,
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: or we're all gonna this. The call is gonna be
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: double wall to where in college the coaching staff might
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: know this and the players don't. But in the NFL,
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: like everybody has everybody has to understand what's going on
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: to where they're quizzing you throughout the week and everything else. Hey,
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: this situation happens, it's very specific, very particular. We're not
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: gonna be able to rep it in the game. We
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: might run at one time and walk through every other
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: week just to stay refreshed on it. But it's like
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: it's those situations where all players have to understand the
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: situational awareness of the NFL.
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: And you can tell the Giants were doing that in
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: that last drive because at the one where bo Nick
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: stes it to the middle of the field ends up
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: getting them into field goal range. There's two wide receivers
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: that are running similar routes where it seems like, oh there.
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: Might felt like yeah like Courtland, yeah, Courtland, sudden it
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: kind of.
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: Goes past him. But in that situation, if you're the
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: if you're dable you're the Giants coach, you need to
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: be telling these guys on Thursday, Friday, Saturday. If we're
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: in this position where I'm making them throw to the
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: middle field and we're in that twelve to sixteen second mark,
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: one guy makes attack, let's get two or three guys
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: on top of him as well.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: Right, don't get a penalty.
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: But lay on him. Let it drag out where they
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: have to kind of push you off, because they kicked
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: that ball with what two seconds left in the clock,
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: and what's that They spiked it, right, and so they
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: might not be able to put themselves in a position
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: to spike it if you have not just one guy
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: on there, but one, two, three guys where it's like,
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: we got to get this guy off. That's just little
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: things you can do when the seconds matter more than
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: anything else and you're forcing the quarterbacks your throats in
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: the middle of.
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: The field, right right. I want to say there was
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: a situation like that in college. Gee, did somebody on
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: here post a clip of like, you know, somebody catching
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: the ball, he's on the ground, everybody's kind of like
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: laying on him or diving on him.
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: That was me that posted that, and honestly, it was
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: taking a little bit. Everybody was saying I was getting
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: upset with the refs. Really I was mad at our
- 1:55:48Speaker 5: play call. But it was before the half. We run
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: a play, We're trying to hurry up and clock it,
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: and their players were laying on top of us blatantly.
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: That was one where it's like, that's a little that's
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: where that's where you probably will see a fly because
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: you got to kind of if you get the tackle,
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: make sure on top and just take your time getting up.
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: But it did seem like a few players they.
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: Were just like shoving him down and walking out right.
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: That is that is a penalty.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: That should that should absolutely be a penalty. But yeah,
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: that it's that kind of stuff that just kind of
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: detail changes one little thing. Because if you watch that
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Giants Broncos game, like Giants owned that entire game, had
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: it and then Jackson Dart throws a bad pick late
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter that lets them come back. I
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: don't know what the exact score.
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: Was that many points to within like the last six minutes.
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: Yeah, there were three lead changes in the last six.
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: Minutes down touchdown, touchdown, touch down.
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: Going into the fourth quarter. Bo Knicks had like eleven
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: Fantasy points and then he finished with thirty nine.
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, because that's my other league still lost. But
- 1:56:51Speaker 4: when I saw him still have thirty something, because I'm
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: like checking, I'm like, I'm checking the game through Fantasy,
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: and I did see him have like he didn't have
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: very many points, like well, you know, b Nicks like giants,
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: they must be they must be the real deal. And
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: then when I saw I got home in time to
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: watch the end of that game, and they're like four
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: total touchdowns. I got there right when he was running
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: that like QB design run when they scored to go
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: up and then Jackson they go down. A couple you know,
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: calls like that, PI calls a little. I thought suspect
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: that they called on Riley Cross an exciting game. Exciting,
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: exciting game. We want to save that. I don't know.
- 1:57:27Speaker 4: We got Zach Bond coming on soon.

- 2:00:14Speaker 4: with the boys.
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: Buddy. First off, I know we had a lot of
- 2:00:17Speaker 3: football to get into. But that house, man, something about Forest.
- 2:00:21Speaker 4: Green for me really sets the tone. Did you you
- 2:00:24Speaker 4: build this house yourself? Do you paint it yourself? What's
- 2:00:26Speaker 4: going on?
- 2:00:27Speaker 10: Did not build it, but we did have it painted. Yes?
- 2:00:30Speaker 4: Nice? Nice. Everybody's gotta paint their house.
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: Everybody's got to paint their house.
- 2:00:34Speaker 10: This is that front sitting room that you never use. Yeah,
- 2:00:37Speaker 10: that's what I'm mean right now?
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: Yeah, get it and that's dialed up man, Brostoff. Congrats
- 2:00:41Speaker 3: on the big win.
- 2:00:43Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 2:00:43Speaker 3: Yeah, we needed that one.
- 2:00:44Speaker 4: Gbot bro So soked to have you. I think you
- 2:00:48Speaker 4: are phenomenal. I think it's super impressive that you're somebody
- 2:00:51Speaker 4: that's been able to move from the outside to the inside.
- 2:00:54Speaker 4: I do have to ask Cam Scataboo.
- 2:01:03Speaker 10: That's one of one of those guys you watch on
- 2:01:05Speaker 10: film and you're like, dang, he runs hard, but you
- 2:01:08Speaker 10: don't really know until you feel yourself. So I'm glad
- 2:01:10Speaker 10: we got him this week. Yeah, yeah, I'll just say that.
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01:14Speaker 4: And he caught you kind of sideways too. If I'm
- 2:01:16Speaker 4: giving you the benefit of the doubt, I know you
- 2:01:17Speaker 4: can run, I know you can hit, but he kind
- 2:01:19Speaker 4: of had you sideways and just watching from the side,
- 2:01:22Speaker 4: ain't go seeing you go kvie your oh shiit that money?
- 2:01:25Speaker 10: Yeah, that was a run across the field and get
- 2:01:28Speaker 10: my ass smack type play right there.
- 2:01:30Speaker 3: Listen, we got.
- 2:01:33Speaker 10: I got to the sideline of I'm like, hey, dide
- 2:01:35Speaker 10: it look bad.
- 2:01:39Speaker 4: That's the only way where you're watching next week. In
- 2:01:40Speaker 4: the position meetings too, like you know, you guys had
- 2:01:42Speaker 4: a tough loss, but just sitting there and t or
- 2:01:45Speaker 4: a defensive meeting or position meeting, you're just like, all right,
- 2:01:48Speaker 4: go ahead, skip through this.
- 2:01:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you get to that plane, you just put
- 2:01:51Speaker 3: your head down hoping we just we just skip over
- 2:01:53Speaker 3: a couple of your buddies looking over at the corner, like, God,
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: damn that happened to you. But yeah, what it has
- 2:01:59Speaker 3: the energy and like in that building, you guys obviously
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: had a big, big week this week. Jalen Hurts throws
- 2:02:04Speaker 3: for a billion yards. Everybody's been saying, you guys can't
- 2:02:07Speaker 3: throw the ball. Everyone's like, hey, this is the best
- 2:02:09Speaker 3: put together team, but we're lacking on deep. There's been
- 2:02:11Speaker 3: so much noise on the outside revolving around the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 2:02:16Speaker 3: What has it been like in the building for you
- 2:02:18Speaker 3: guys keeping the main thing, the main thing?
- 2:02:20Speaker 10: Yeah, I think the noise in the in the media
- 2:02:23Speaker 10: is a lot louder than the noise in the locker room.
- 2:02:26Speaker 10: Like we get we get to the locker room and
- 2:02:28Speaker 10: it's like, what, what's what's the big fuss? Like we're
- 2:02:31Speaker 10: winning games for the most part, we're winning games and
- 2:02:35Speaker 10: we're doing an overall good job. So I think it's
- 2:02:37Speaker 10: all blown out of proportion and just keeping the main thing.
- 2:02:40Speaker 10: The main thing is the biggest thing winning games.
- 2:02:43Speaker 4: A couple of weeks ago, when it was the Giants,
- 2:02:46Speaker 4: and just from your from your vantage point watching it happen,
- 2:02:50Speaker 4: the fourth Toush pushes in a row to go score,
- 2:02:54Speaker 4: knowing it was like, was it fourth and short? A
- 2:02:57Speaker 4: third and short? It's like, okay, we're gonna get two
- 2:02:58Speaker 4: opportunities at these you get it, you're the one yard line,
- 2:03:01Speaker 4: you continue to just do the Tousch push. I know,
- 2:03:03Speaker 4: watching it on TV, I'm sitting there, these dudes are
- 2:03:06Speaker 4: really doing four Toush pushes. Yeah.
- 2:03:10Speaker 10: Yeah. Usually I'm the guy that's like, yep, run it,
- 2:03:13Speaker 10: run it again, run it again. But after the third time,
- 2:03:15Speaker 10: I'm like, all right, all right, we gotta try something different. Yeah,
- 2:03:20Speaker 10: but the thing is that it works. And if you
- 2:03:22Speaker 10: run a play that works, why not keep running it?
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: Yeah? You got the Giants second time in three weeks
- 2:03:28Speaker 3: this week? What are the what are some things you
- 2:03:31Speaker 3: can go and watch the film, but from you as
- 2:03:33Speaker 3: a player being on that field when you guys play
- 2:03:35Speaker 3: them on Thursday night football, what are the things that
- 2:03:37Speaker 3: they did so well that made it difficult for you
- 2:03:40Speaker 3: guys on defense?
- 2:03:42Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 2:03:42Speaker 10: I think just the theme this year has been like
- 2:03:45Speaker 10: as defending champions, like we're gonna get everyone's best shot.
- 2:03:48Speaker 10: Everyone's gonna come at us like with the with their
- 2:03:52Speaker 10: best game, like their best game plan, the physicality, their intensity,
- 2:03:55Speaker 10: and that's what it was that game. So just combating
- 2:03:59Speaker 10: that and coming with some swag at home?
- 2:04:01Speaker 4: What was the taale?
- 2:04:02Speaker 10: Like?
- 2:04:02Speaker 4: Obviously it was a bad taste, But is this a
- 2:04:04Speaker 4: game now? You you beat the Vikings, which was a
- 2:04:07Speaker 4: massive win for you guys, especially again with all the
- 2:04:09Speaker 4: noise offensively, the question marks even defensively, you guys haven't
- 2:04:13Speaker 4: played your best football. I know you guys have had injuries.
- 2:04:15Speaker 4: But once that game is over against the Vikings, is
- 2:04:18Speaker 4: there like a salivation going on getting the Giants again
- 2:04:21Speaker 4: this quickly after the loss?
- 2:04:24Speaker 10: Yeah, it's very rare that you play a team two
- 2:04:28Speaker 10: times like that close. Sometimes it'll be like one at
- 2:04:31Speaker 10: the beginning of the season and then one at the end.
- 2:04:33Speaker 10: But to get them this close, it's kind of weird,
- 2:04:35Speaker 10: to be honest, But good for us because we lost
- 2:04:38Speaker 10: and we get to get our lick back. But yeah,
- 2:04:41Speaker 10: I just got to get after it, honestly, because you.
- 2:04:43Speaker 4: Know, like after New York wins that game in the
- 2:04:46Speaker 4: fashion that they did do it, it's like, you see,
- 2:04:49Speaker 4: it's like you got all the bulletin board material in
- 2:04:51Speaker 4: the world just to be like licking your chops for
- 2:04:53Speaker 4: this game. You got the you know, the Create Team Caucasians,
- 2:04:56Speaker 4: Jackson Dark Game, Skataboo, they're pot Like Scataboo's out their
- 2:04:59Speaker 4: post shirt list, like he's going viral for head button
- 2:05:02Speaker 4: walls and shit gets the hit on ozach Bonn. I
- 2:05:05Speaker 4: know you're gonna be pissed off, brother, ready to go.
- 2:05:09Speaker 10: Come on, man, we gotta get our lick back. We're
- 2:05:11Speaker 10: too competitive in this game to just lay down and
- 2:05:15Speaker 10: take it like that.
- 2:05:16Speaker 3: Buddy. I want to talk to you real quick about
- 2:05:18Speaker 3: you signing a one year deal for three and a
- 2:05:20Speaker 3: half million dollars with the Eagles. You're approve it deal
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: and you became an All Pro in that, Like for
- 2:05:26Speaker 3: all the players watching who sit there and they've been
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: the situation where they know they can be this caliber
- 2:05:32Speaker 3: of player and they have to go into a prove
- 2:05:34Speaker 3: it deal, Like, what is the mindset? What is the
- 2:05:36Speaker 3: takeover for you to go not only become an All
- 2:05:38Speaker 3: Pro guy, but be wearing the green dot for an
- 2:05:41Speaker 3: elite defense who wins the Super Bowl and then eventually
- 2:05:45Speaker 3: we're gonna what was this the number was too big
- 2:05:47Speaker 3: for the piece of paper. A three year, fifty one
- 2:05:49Speaker 3: million dollar contract extension after that, like had to be
- 2:05:52Speaker 3: a lot of ups and downs and thought processes when
- 2:05:54Speaker 3: you're leaving the Saints going to the Eagles and that
- 2:05:57Speaker 3: year the offseason, what was that like for you?
- 2:05:59Speaker 4: An inside back or two? Yeah?
- 2:06:02Speaker 10: Yeah, leaving the Saints, I had, I had like two
- 2:06:06Speaker 10: paths I could have gone down. I could have like
- 2:06:08Speaker 10: stuck with being a special teams guy and played my
- 2:06:10Speaker 10: role and done a good job at that and played
- 2:06:12Speaker 10: a long time, made some money. But there was something
- 2:06:14Speaker 10: in me that was like, man, I know I can play.
- 2:06:17Speaker 10: I know I can play, whether it's inside or outside.
- 2:06:20Speaker 10: And I talked with my agent, my wife, my family,
- 2:06:23Speaker 10: and they're like, give it another shot, Like don't give
- 2:06:26Speaker 10: up on yourself just yet. And I didn't know what
- 2:06:29Speaker 10: position I was going to play coming to the Eagles
- 2:06:32Speaker 10: until I'm at the front door meeting the inside linebacker
- 2:06:35Speaker 10: coach's hand, and I'm like, all right, I guess I'm inside.
- 2:06:38Speaker 10: Let's figure this out. And we had a lot of
- 2:06:41Speaker 10: new guys in the culture here, so good, so I
- 2:06:42Speaker 10: just jumped right in and started winning games and playing well.
- 2:06:46Speaker 4: Absolute specimen being a special teams demon because you can run.
- 2:06:50Speaker 4: I'm sitting here looking right now. It's what am I
- 2:06:53Speaker 4: seeing here holds his high school two hundred meter record
- 2:06:56Speaker 4: ran a twenty one point five at two hundred and
- 2:06:58Speaker 4: twenty pounds, Like, are you somebody's sitting there talking shit
- 2:07:01Speaker 4: with the boys on teams when they're talking about who
- 2:07:02Speaker 4: the fastest guy is.
- 2:07:04Speaker 10: They never throw me in that conversation, but I always
- 2:07:07Speaker 10: need to get my respect, Like I'm fast too, but
- 2:07:10Speaker 10: you can.
- 2:07:11Speaker 4: Fly, you can fly. I also see that you were
- 2:07:13Speaker 4: You play quarterback in high school through for about two
- 2:07:15Speaker 4: thousand yards and twenty touchdowns.
- 2:07:18Speaker 10: Yeah, I played quarterback, but I was really just like
- 2:07:20Speaker 10: small town athlete, you know, get it in his hands.
- 2:07:25Speaker 10: Every time I was running the ball, I would drop
- 2:07:27Speaker 10: back knowing I'm about to take off and run. So
- 2:07:29Speaker 10: it's a lot of a lot of Russian.
- 2:07:31Speaker 4: We gotta work on him just talking shit like yeah,
- 2:07:33Speaker 4: I was that dude. Yeah, like yeah, but you know.
- 2:07:37Speaker 1: You know what he is.
- 2:07:37Speaker 3: He thinks he's telling you to the real media right now,
- 2:07:40Speaker 3: we're going to do an arrogant linebacker thought he was
- 2:07:44Speaker 3: the man in high school. Bro, if you're a cat.
- 2:07:47Speaker 3: I'm assuming you win both ways on the football field,
- 2:07:50Speaker 3: and you're playing quarterbacks dropping back and it's like, yeah,
- 2:07:53Speaker 3: you all know I'm gonna run, but I'm still gonna
- 2:07:55Speaker 3: go off on you guys no matter what.
- 2:07:57Speaker 10: Yeah, there was some confidence there for sure.
- 2:07:59Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, you know that little something, you know
- 2:08:02Speaker 4: he had the chin strap, chin strap on buckles, feeling
- 2:08:05Speaker 4: like Michael vicked times. Yeah, what kid.
- 2:08:07Speaker 10: Didn't do that mouthguard hanging out? Yeah that was me.
- 2:08:11Speaker 3: What what's your what's your thought process when you look
- 2:08:14Speaker 3: at the Big ten and you see the state of
- 2:08:15Speaker 3: your alma mater, the Wisconsin Badgers right now? I hate
- 2:08:19Speaker 3: doing this. Ooh, but it's tough for Luke Fickle and
- 2:08:23Speaker 3: the boys. Man, what's going on there?
- 2:08:27Speaker 10: I couldn't tell you. Man, it's when you think. Let
- 2:08:32Speaker 10: me ask you, when you think of Wisconsin football, what
- 2:08:34Speaker 10: do you think?
- 2:08:35Speaker 3: I think a run game, run game, offensive lineman that
- 2:08:38Speaker 3: all could be in the NFL just three yards and
- 2:08:41Speaker 3: a cloud of dust until sixty forty fifty happens.
- 2:08:44Speaker 4: And I'm thinking also thinking linebackers, your guys, defensive front seven.
- 2:08:48Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, you're thinking thirteen personnel, twenty one, twenty two
- 2:08:52Speaker 10: extra linement corn fed Wisconsin farm Boys.
- 2:08:56Speaker 4: Yeah, besides watch Nurse.
- 2:08:59Speaker 10: Yeah, when you watch him, now, that's not what I'm seeing.
- 2:09:02Speaker 10: That's not what I'm seeing. So I don't know. I
- 2:09:05Speaker 10: don't know. I don't want to. I'll keep my comments
- 2:09:08Speaker 10: to myself. But we need to win some games.
- 2:09:11Speaker 4: You know, you don't have to say anything. I just know.
- 2:09:13Speaker 4: For me, like, I was fired up for the Fickle higher.
- 2:09:17Speaker 4: I thought he was one of the best head coaches
- 2:09:18Speaker 4: when he left Cincinnati. So I'm sitting here completely surprised
- 2:09:23Speaker 4: that he hasn't been able to get Wisconsin going because
- 2:09:25Speaker 4: you guys have been good. I mean, you guys whooped
- 2:09:27Speaker 4: our ass, but you guys have been good for a
- 2:09:29Speaker 4: long time. I felt running the ball, playing defense. I
- 2:09:32Speaker 4: like Fickle, Like, I don't know a whole lot about
- 2:09:34Speaker 4: him other than how he did in Cincinnati. And I
- 2:09:36Speaker 4: know he's like him and Vrabel were, they're best friends. Yeah,
- 2:09:40Speaker 4: so I'm thinking, Okay, he's gonna bring this chip on
- 2:09:42Speaker 4: shoulder mentality, like this swagger, this no nonsense, all hard work,
- 2:09:47Speaker 4: everything else to Wisconsin. So I'm like, I'm shocked. I'm
- 2:09:50Speaker 4: sure like everybody else is just that Fickle hasn't worked
- 2:09:52Speaker 4: out there.
- 2:09:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you on that.
- 2:09:55Speaker 10: Part of me was like giving him the benefit of
- 2:09:58Speaker 10: the doubt, like, Okay, he's got to get his guys
- 2:10:00Speaker 10: in here to Like, Yeah, if we're gonna switch the
- 2:10:02Speaker 10: system and switch what we do, like, we need different players.
- 2:10:04Speaker 10: We can't have these big, old old linemen running the
- 2:10:06Speaker 10: spread offense. So maybe just give it some time to
- 2:10:09Speaker 10: develop and get some different guys in there.
- 2:10:13Speaker 3: Exciting whites. You get to play with them on every
- 2:10:16Speaker 3: single down. They took the world by storm last year.
- 2:10:19Speaker 3: They end up starting their own podcast. Talk to me
- 2:10:22Speaker 3: about what Cooper Dead and Reid Blaking Ship are on
- 2:10:25Speaker 3: the field. How are these guys? Are they big communicators?
- 2:10:28Speaker 10: Like?
- 2:10:28Speaker 3: Are these two dudes you hate? Just let them go play.
- 2:10:31Speaker 3: I want to know about their play style. What kind
- 2:10:32Speaker 3: of camaradi we have in the locker room.
- 2:10:35Speaker 10: Yeah, I'll start with Reid. Read is the biggest communicator
- 2:10:38Speaker 10: at the safety spot. He like demands the coverage aspect
- 2:10:43Speaker 10: of our defense and a really good player. He knows
- 2:10:46Speaker 10: what's going on, he knows what's coming. And then Coop
- 2:10:49Speaker 10: is just a dog like I do it all. He's
- 2:10:51Speaker 10: strong in a run game. Coming up making tackles can cover. Hey,
- 2:10:57Speaker 10: the exciting Whites are doing their thing.
- 2:11:00Speaker 4: They are're putting together a good football team at the
- 2:11:04Speaker 4: end of this year.
- 2:11:07Speaker 10: What what team am I on?
- 2:11:10Speaker 4: I personally I love to claim you. I love to
- 2:11:13Speaker 4: claim you and say, Zach bond Is will be our
- 2:11:16Speaker 4: green dot on defense. Listen, if you weren't asking me
- 2:11:22Speaker 4: and I broke this down myself in December, you'll be
- 2:11:26Speaker 4: on the team. And then from there, it's what happens
- 2:11:29Speaker 4: whenever you know, guys kind of see it that they can.
- 2:11:31Speaker 4: You know, I'm not on the Ald White team. I
- 2:11:34Speaker 4: want to say, who is the Who's the safety for
- 2:11:37Speaker 4: the Ravens?
- 2:11:39Speaker 10: Who Hamilton?
- 2:11:41Speaker 4: Hamilton? I claimed him a couple of years ago, but
- 2:11:43Speaker 4: they were kind of breaking down the footage and he
- 2:11:45Speaker 4: said on a plane right after the game that he
- 2:11:47Speaker 4: was a part of the All White team. And I'll like, hey, buddy,
- 2:11:49Speaker 4: we got you, like he went to Notre Dame. You know,
- 2:11:51Speaker 4: we get to kind of have them for a year.
- 2:11:53Speaker 4: So it's more like I'll put the ball in your court.
- 2:11:57Speaker 4: I'll tell you what we love to have you. I'm
- 2:11:59Speaker 4: talking the world the red carpet out for your recruiting visit,
- 2:12:02Speaker 4: there might be a lot more ego and guys trying
- 2:12:05Speaker 4: to figure out who's gonna be playing on the roster.
- 2:12:06Speaker 4: I can guarantee you a starting spot right now on
- 2:12:09Speaker 4: the All White squad. You want to have it, you'll
- 2:12:10Speaker 4: be there. You got half yourself, you got half the
- 2:12:12Speaker 4: secondary already.
- 2:12:13Speaker 10: You've got to say your parameters. I'm like, what are
- 2:12:15Speaker 10: you doing with the mix the mixed guys?
- 2:12:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's usually it's usually if they say it's usually
- 2:12:21Speaker 4: if they say the word or not they walk around
- 2:12:23Speaker 4: they're saying the word. It's, you know, the kind of
- 2:12:25Speaker 4: the language barrier a little bit. That's kind of my parameters.
- 2:12:29Speaker 4: And now like he seems like a seems like a
- 2:12:31Speaker 4: type of guy who's gonna be on the all White
- 2:12:33Speaker 4: squad this year?
- 2:12:34Speaker 3: Are you so you bringing this up? Are you saying, hey,
- 2:12:37Speaker 3: Will Compton, I would like to be on the All
- 2:12:39Speaker 3: White team this year. I like to make that squad.
- 2:12:41Speaker 10: It's it's you guys are the head coaches.
- 2:12:43Speaker 4: I guess yeah, trust me, you got you got you
- 2:12:45Speaker 4: because I already got the already got the pitch for you.
- 2:12:49Speaker 4: You got red, you got Cooper Degen. Riley Moss is
- 2:12:51Speaker 4: out there in Denver, super familiar with Cooper Degene. You
- 2:12:54Speaker 4: guys are communicating on the back end as well as
- 2:12:56Speaker 4: any any unit in the country. So listen, we would thrive.
- 2:13:02Speaker 4: We would thrive with you on the old white Hey,
- 2:13:06Speaker 4: what's this? I want you to school me up here?
- 2:13:09Speaker 4: What is this? What is this run Scape I'm hearing
- 2:13:12Speaker 4: about RuneScape? Runescpe? What is this RuneScape I'm hearing about?
- 2:13:16Speaker 4: You know, you did a you did a shout out
- 2:13:18Speaker 4: for the eagles or social post that's going viral. Yeah,
- 2:13:20Speaker 4: you played a big time as a kid.
- 2:13:23Speaker 10: RuneScape's an old game that I used to play as
- 2:13:25Speaker 10: a kid. I think it came out like early two thousands,
- 2:13:30Speaker 10: like retro kind of like a World of Warcraft type
- 2:13:33Speaker 10: games that I just found out they have on mobile now,
- 2:13:37Speaker 10: so I hot back on and really been enjoying it.
- 2:13:40Speaker 4: Did you ever play?
- 2:13:41Speaker 10: You guys play? No?
- 2:13:42Speaker 4: No, no.
- 2:13:42Speaker 3: You can tell by Will's pronunciation of the game he
- 2:13:44Speaker 3: hasn't played the game yet. But I also have not
- 2:13:46Speaker 3: played the game. You bring up World of Warcraft? Are
- 2:13:48Speaker 3: you familiar at all with the oblo.
- 2:13:52Speaker 10: No, damn, ask him about that.
- 2:13:54Speaker 4: Ask him about that dinosaur one?
- 2:13:56Speaker 3: Oh arc You are you familiar with the game ARC.
- 2:13:59Speaker 10: I've heard of our part of ARC. I played. I
- 2:14:01Speaker 10: played for probably twenty minutes, and I didn't like it.
- 2:14:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's fair because when you start, you're basically
- 2:14:05Speaker 3: in survival mode for the first fifty levels before you
- 2:14:08Speaker 3: can essentially sustain a life with these prehistoric animals. It's
- 2:14:11Speaker 3: very difficult to do. But I've I've found myself in
- 2:14:14Speaker 3: a very weird, weird world with ARC. My wife's one
- 2:14:18Speaker 3: of my wife's best friends met a guy on ARC.
- 2:14:20Speaker 3: They are now married in Canada. It's a long story.
- 2:14:23Speaker 3: You have too much, you don't have enough time.
- 2:14:25Speaker 4: We can talk. My problem with ARC is just that
- 2:14:29Speaker 4: you could build up all these levels, but if some
- 2:14:31Speaker 4: crew comes in and takes you over, you're starting from
- 2:14:33Speaker 4: ground zero.
- 2:14:34Speaker 3: Right, Right, That's why you need to see.
- 2:14:36Speaker 4: Yeah, when you turn the game off, like you're still
- 2:14:38Speaker 4: like sleeping, you're alive.
- 2:14:39Speaker 10: Right.
- 2:14:39Speaker 3: You have to like essentially go to bed in the
- 2:14:40Speaker 3: game at any point, and it's always I'm not going
- 2:14:43Speaker 3: to say the ethnicity that gets you, but there's a
- 2:14:44Speaker 3: one there's one ethnicity that always comes and gets your
- 2:14:47Speaker 3: ass while you're gone.
- 2:14:50Speaker 10: I know you're right, You're right, you're right.
- 2:14:53Speaker 3: But my buddy of my wife's friend, she got married
- 2:14:56Speaker 3: to a guy named Joe who's like gotta be top
- 2:14:58Speaker 3: fifty player in the world. And we meet him via
- 2:15:01Speaker 3: online and now we're like riding around in jet packs
- 2:15:04Speaker 3: like we were.
- 2:15:04Speaker 4: We're living cush out there in the art world.
- 2:15:08Speaker 3: You got to come back and revisit for a second.
- 2:15:10Speaker 4: I love back in like the old Testament days. You're
- 2:15:13Speaker 4: marrying for like supreme protection. Yeah, and she married in
- 2:15:16Speaker 4: to somebody who's the top towns player.
- 2:15:18Speaker 3: It's exactly that's exactly what she's doing right now. Uh,
- 2:15:24Speaker 3: talk to me about Vic Fangio. What kind of DC
- 2:15:27Speaker 3: are we? Is he like a players coach type of guy?
- 2:15:30Speaker 3: Is he a hard nosed cat and he's got a
- 2:15:32Speaker 3: good personality on him, like break him down.
- 2:15:33Speaker 4: For se like, oh, he could be in a bad
- 2:15:35Speaker 4: mood today, let's not jab him a whole lot.
- 2:15:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:15:38Speaker 10: No, he's kind of a player's coach and a like
- 2:15:41Speaker 10: a hard nosed guy. He wants everyone to succeed and
- 2:15:44Speaker 10: do their best, but at the same time he's like
- 2:15:46Speaker 10: gonna get on you to do it. But it's not
- 2:15:50Speaker 10: it's direct and indirect at the same time. Like he's
- 2:15:53Speaker 10: he'll drill into guys, but then he'll also like throw
- 2:15:55Speaker 10: a little shade or jabs. It's all accountability, is what
- 2:15:58Speaker 10: it comes down to.
- 2:16:00Speaker 4: Somebody I'm absolutely terrified by is a Jalen Carter yep Oh.
- 2:16:06Speaker 4: Is there is anybody saying a word to him after
- 2:16:09Speaker 4: the Dallas Cowboys game from week one when he spent Yeah,
- 2:16:11Speaker 4: when he when the whole spit thing happened, or is
- 2:16:15Speaker 4: that he probably knows we're just gonna we're gonna let
- 2:16:18Speaker 4: the old boy be.
- 2:16:19Speaker 10: He knew what he did. He knew immediately that what
- 2:16:22Speaker 10: he did was wrong. But yeah, we we we went
- 2:16:25Speaker 10: up and talked to him, like you can't be doing
- 2:16:27Speaker 10: that obviously. But there was a time last year and
- 2:16:30Speaker 10: I'm new, so I don't really know. JC is probably
- 2:16:33Speaker 10: Game three or four. He does what he does and
- 2:16:36Speaker 10: swims out of his gap to make a play. I
- 2:16:38Speaker 10: get it, but I in the game in the moment,
- 2:16:40Speaker 10: I'm like, you gotta be in your gap, like come on,
- 2:16:44Speaker 10: And He's like, don't tell me how to play football, bro,
- 2:16:46Speaker 10: And I'm like, hey, yeah, go ahead, Hey, I'll make
- 2:16:50Speaker 10: you right.
- 2:16:50Speaker 3: Yeah you know what, Jac, You're absolutely right. I should
- 2:16:53Speaker 3: have been in your gap in that situation. I saw
- 2:16:55Speaker 3: what you were doing there.
- 2:16:56Speaker 4: Zeb trying to do some like leadership stuff like hey
- 2:16:59Speaker 4: hey hey, come on, hey, I need you in this set.
- 2:17:01Speaker 4: Do that. This is how it hurts the back end. Man,
- 2:17:03Speaker 4: shut up. He'll teach me how to play football. Hey,
- 2:17:05Speaker 4: big guy, that's on me. You're right, you know what.
- 2:17:09Speaker 10: I really really good dude, though, really good dude, solid dude,
- 2:17:12Speaker 10: great football.
- 2:17:13Speaker 3: No it sounds like a terrifying dude, but a solid dude. Nonetheless,
- 2:17:16Speaker 3: this is the guy, tam Yes, yeah, yeah, it's the guy.
- 2:17:21Speaker 4: He's like, really good dude, Yes, as long as he's
- 2:17:23Speaker 4: got my.
- 2:17:23Speaker 3: Bright like as he's got my picture like Zach Bond
- 2:17:26Speaker 3: and like five other guys that way over two to
- 2:17:28Speaker 3: eighty walking up to j C being like you understand,
- 2:17:32Speaker 3: like we probably shouldn't spit on guys, right, and just
- 2:17:34Speaker 3: kind of like waiting to see how he handles.
- 2:17:36Speaker 4: Or like when they're walking up to him, like hey,
- 2:17:38Speaker 4: so ZB, you're going to say are you going to
- 2:17:40Speaker 4: say the first like are you going to start the conversation?
- 2:17:42Speaker 3: And yeah yeah, and then ZB walks up He's like, hey, man, Lane,
- 2:17:46Speaker 3: wanted to tell you something real quick. I just want
- 2:17:47Speaker 3: to let you know they just put Lane n Lane
- 2:17:49Speaker 3: Johnson under the bus, like you got to handle this.
- 2:17:52Speaker 10: It's the funniest thing is on like punt Safe when
- 2:17:55Speaker 10: we leave our defense out there, just going up to
- 2:17:58Speaker 10: the like the right guard and be like, hey, JC,
- 2:18:04Speaker 10: that poor.
- 2:18:04Speaker 4: Bastard's bucklet is just a little bit tight in there,
- 2:18:07Speaker 4: right guard And I'm just hearing that, and he big
- 2:18:09Speaker 4: dog like, you know we can yeah, yeah, And I
- 2:18:13Speaker 4: promise you we're not We are not running up we'ren
- 2:18:18Speaker 4: I swear to guy.
- 2:18:19Speaker 3: Dude, one guy that brought up j C and like
- 2:18:22Speaker 3: the hey you got this guy. Awesome guy, but definitely
- 2:18:25Speaker 3: you don't want to get on his bad side. Big
- 2:18:27Speaker 3: Dom was talking about him when we were at camp.
- 2:18:30Speaker 3: You don't seem like the guy that Big Dom has
- 2:18:33Speaker 3: to deal with all of the time. But how crucial
- 2:18:35Speaker 3: is Big Dom to the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 2:18:38Speaker 10: Big Dom is huge. He's got all the little insights
- 2:18:40Speaker 10: on everyone. He knows what everyone around the building is doing,
- 2:18:44Speaker 10: who they're talking to, who they're hanging out with. He's
- 2:18:47Speaker 10: he's intertwined not only with the Eagles, but like the
- 2:18:50Speaker 10: whole city. He's in there.
- 2:18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm picking up what you're putting down sopranos.
- 2:18:56Speaker 10: I mean he might be, he might be not confirmed.
- 2:18:58Speaker 3: Not confirmed. That is exactly he wants. He wants us guessing.
- 2:19:01Speaker 4: It's one of those I feel like big Doms, like
- 2:19:03Speaker 4: the noise could be super loud around the Eagles the
- 2:19:06Speaker 4: locker room. It's like it's louder than it is in
- 2:19:07Speaker 4: the locker room. But if you want to know something,
- 2:19:10Speaker 4: you just go up like, hey, big Dom, do we
- 2:19:11Speaker 4: have this? Is everything kind of figured out with so
- 2:19:13Speaker 4: and so or between these guys and just kind of
- 2:19:16Speaker 4: like a nod. Yeah, we gotta take Carol.
- 2:19:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Dom's always a guy. It's gonna yeah, Yeah, I'm
- 2:19:20Speaker 3: unhandling it. I'm handling it, no problem.
- 2:19:24Speaker 4: Should we do a bud light question?
- 2:19:26Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 2:19:27Speaker 4: Like question, all right, Zach. People would do anything for
- 2:19:30Speaker 4: an ice cold bud light, no doubt. Umm having a
- 2:19:34Speaker 4: bud light with somebody who is somebody that you'd love
- 2:19:36Speaker 4: to sit down and have an ice cold bud light with,
- 2:19:39Speaker 4: whether it's past present, somebody that you just love to
- 2:19:42Speaker 4: have a few beers with, some conversations, some fun, could
- 2:19:47Speaker 4: be anybody, anybody.
- 2:19:51Speaker 10: I'll keep it in the football world and I'll say
- 2:19:53Speaker 10: Darren Rizzy, the special teams coordinator for the Broncos. Yeah,
- 2:19:57Speaker 10: no shit, great dude, great dude, awesome dude. He was
- 2:20:01Speaker 10: my coordinator with the Saints. Yeah. I would definitely have
- 2:20:04Speaker 10: more than one bud light with him.
- 2:20:06Speaker 4: Dude. He always had the vibes high. When I was
- 2:20:08Speaker 4: again there for a couple of coffee. You go into
- 2:20:11Speaker 4: the special teams meeting and that you guys would have
- 2:20:14Speaker 4: shirts going on for plays that get made, and everybody
- 2:20:18Speaker 4: seemed to love this dude. And then when he was
- 2:20:19Speaker 4: the interim head coach, what was it a couple of
- 2:20:22Speaker 4: years ago where he stepped in Yeah last year, Yeah,
- 2:20:24Speaker 4: last year and out of the gate. I want to
- 2:20:26Speaker 4: say the Saints. They ended up winning a couple of
- 2:20:28Speaker 4: games with them.
- 2:20:29Speaker 3: It always happens an interim head coach except for the Titan.
- 2:20:31Speaker 10: Just a great dude, Just a great dude, especially.
- 2:20:33Speaker 4: When it's a special teams coordinator too. So you two
- 2:20:35Speaker 4: played together with the Saints. I don't know, if I
- 2:20:37Speaker 4: don't know.
- 2:20:38Speaker 10: Possibly I wasn't. I wasn't with you. I was like
- 2:20:41Speaker 10: right after you, yeah, because you were you were there
- 2:20:43Speaker 10: in twenty nineteen.
- 2:20:44Speaker 4: Twenty nineteen was when I was there in training camp
- 2:20:46Speaker 4: for a moment, I was ready to light the world
- 2:20:49Speaker 4: on fire, but you know, I caught a little ankle.
- 2:20:50Speaker 3: Spray, little ankle spray. Had to get that.
- 2:20:54Speaker 10: Down.
- 2:20:54Speaker 4: Yeah, They're like alex ads alone was down and they
- 2:20:56Speaker 4: had I want to say, maybe a couple like inside
- 2:20:58Speaker 4: backers that were down. So I ended up getting brought
- 2:21:00Speaker 4: in around the third preseason game. Went into the fourth
- 2:21:03Speaker 4: preseason game to get reps at like one base before
- 2:21:06Speaker 4: we got ready for Week one because they needed a
- 2:21:08Speaker 4: base mike backer basically essentially until Alexandzeloni's shoulder got right.
- 2:21:13Speaker 4: And then I went down in that fourth preseason game.
- 2:21:16Speaker 4: It which sucked because the vibes of the Saints seemed awesome,
- 2:21:19Speaker 4: The locker room seemed the all time and Rizzy he
- 2:21:21Speaker 4: was talking about like guys just everybody like that was
- 2:21:24Speaker 4: a fun organization. For the moment I was there at
- 2:21:26Speaker 4: practice was fun everything. Yeah, and uh then after that,
- 2:21:29Speaker 4: I got a little injury settlement and then they that's
- 2:21:32Speaker 4: when they traded for Keiko Alonso and then Alexanderloni comes
- 2:21:35Speaker 4: back nights with the Lions, like playing some good ball, gotcha.
- 2:21:38Speaker 10: But yeah, it seems like everyone that leaves the Saints
- 2:21:41Speaker 10: is playing good ball right now? All right, everyone, everyone
- 2:21:44Speaker 10: that leaves the Saints has a seat on their chest
- 2:21:46Speaker 10: playing playing good football.
- 2:21:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:21:48Speaker 4: And then the old guard, the captains like Cam Jordan
- 2:21:51Speaker 4: and the Mario Davis like they're still sticking around, and
- 2:21:54Speaker 4: it's like, fuck boys, we've got to put some good
- 2:21:55Speaker 4: ball together right now. We got our teeth have been
- 2:21:58Speaker 4: cutting this organization for two all.
- 2:22:01Speaker 10: No doubt about tough times down there, Zach.
- 2:22:04Speaker 3: We appreciate you coming on the show man. This has
- 2:22:06Speaker 3: been awesome. I can't wait for December when Will comes
- 2:22:08Speaker 3: out with this all white, all black team. I'm assuming I.
- 2:22:11Speaker 4: Don't do I'll do the other sides for everybody else.
- 2:22:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sorry, all white team, that's right. Yeah. I
- 2:22:15Speaker 3: think the line right now, the futures line is minus
- 2:22:20Speaker 3: what thirty one and a half?
- 2:22:22Speaker 4: No, I don't think truly, I don't think it's that
- 2:22:24Speaker 4: deep at all. I promise you we got a squad
- 2:22:26Speaker 4: and we get better each and every year a new
- 2:22:28Speaker 4: dB comes in the league.
- 2:22:30Speaker 10: Yeah, okay, do you think that's where you're light? Always?
- 2:22:33Speaker 10: Department always?
- 2:22:34Speaker 4: I think, yeah, one thousand percent. I mean, think of
- 2:22:36Speaker 4: what other position group are we potentially light in like
- 2:22:40Speaker 4: we're deep along the trenches. We got second level players.
- 2:22:44Speaker 4: We got us you know, tight in. We got guys
- 2:22:47Speaker 4: like a wide receiver. Surprisingly, we got some good depth there. Yeah,
- 2:22:51Speaker 4: Pooka Nakoula. He hasn't said nothing over the last couple
- 2:22:54Speaker 4: of years. So well I've been able to claim him
- 2:22:56Speaker 4: and get away with it.
- 2:22:57Speaker 10: That's that's that he's probably that is between the Paully's.
- 2:23:02Speaker 3: The Paulis are fair game.
- 2:23:04Speaker 4: I'm thinking Polly he was what a fifth round guy? Yeah,
- 2:23:07Speaker 4: so that's e shinder type of grinder mentality.
- 2:23:10Speaker 3: Yeah, ran a little slower, little slower forty like just
- 2:23:15Speaker 3: put the tape on. He's got game speed. That's when
- 2:23:17Speaker 3: you know that's our guy.
- 2:23:19Speaker 4: You know, that's our goal. We gotta do is just filter,
- 2:23:22Speaker 4: just filter this episode just a little bit more, because
- 2:23:24Speaker 4: right now we got Zach. We got Zach ball.
- 2:23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's gonna come out. But Zach, how do
- 2:23:29Speaker 3: you feel about this? And it's up to you to
- 2:23:31Speaker 3: be standing here, to be on a plane under away game.
- 2:23:35Speaker 3: Jac's gonna coach and be like, man, what's this about, dude?
- 2:23:37Speaker 4: You got the ball ahead, you got a nice goate
- 2:23:40Speaker 4: going on that screams, I got a Harley in the
- 2:23:42Speaker 4: in the garage, right fun?
- 2:23:50Speaker 10: Is your hair growing back little?
- 2:23:51Speaker 4: I'll show you, Yeah, it's it's grown back pretty well.
- 2:23:54Speaker 4: I do have kind of the m set and it's
- 2:23:56Speaker 4: a little lighter in the cold de sac here. You
- 2:23:58Speaker 4: could land a plane on it if you wanted to.
- 2:24:01Speaker 4: But we're coming back pretty strong right now. In my opinion,
- 2:24:04Speaker 4: I like it in my heads.
- 2:24:05Speaker 10: Are you going to grow grow it out? Or was
- 2:24:07Speaker 10: that like a test test to see if you had
- 2:24:10Speaker 10: to shave it?
- 2:24:11Speaker 4: My wife really wants me to grow it out. But
- 2:24:13Speaker 4: I'll be honest, I really don't mind the short hair life,
- 2:24:16Speaker 4: even the bald head. I didn't mind the bold head.
- 2:24:18Speaker 3: Look.
- 2:24:18Speaker 4: Would you think, like you're a fellow bald guy, Like,
- 2:24:20Speaker 4: would you love me wrapping the bold squad?
- 2:24:22Speaker 10: Absolutely, it's all about It's all about the head shape.
- 2:24:25Speaker 10: Like if you've got a solid head shape, you can
- 2:24:27Speaker 10: and facial hair you can, you can join.
- 2:24:29Speaker 4: So you think I pull up the head shape, well.
- 2:24:32Speaker 10: I think it's solid. Once you get a little tan
- 2:24:34Speaker 10: up up top there, you'll be all right.
- 2:24:36Speaker 4: That's the key. That's the key. You get some sunlight
- 2:24:38Speaker 4: on it, dude, we appreciate you, man, Thank you for
- 2:24:41Speaker 4: taking time on a Monday. Good luck this week, get
- 2:24:44Speaker 4: fucking get your guys, revenge back, get the mojo going again.
- 2:24:47Speaker 4: In the off season, we would absolutely love to have
- 2:24:50Speaker 4: you on the bus so we can do a little
- 2:24:51Speaker 4: bit more long form. We're not in the middle of
- 2:24:53Speaker 4: the season. Yeah, a couple of things. We gotta, you know,
- 2:24:55Speaker 4: you gotta kind of hey, we're having fun on the show,
- 2:24:57Speaker 4: but also we're in the middle of the season. But
- 2:25:00Speaker 4: we would love to have you on in Nashville in
- 2:25:01Speaker 4: the offseason.
- 2:25:02Speaker 10: Yeah, I gotta get down there have to be sick.
- 2:25:05Speaker 4: Apprecire brother, appreciate everybody, give me one of plus.
- 2:25:09Speaker 10: Thanks for having me, guys, I love that.
- 2:25:10Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 2:25:11Speaker 3: Broing on man, it is a pain in the ass
- 2:25:12Speaker 3: to do this during the season, so it does mean
- 2:25:14Speaker 3: a lot.
- 2:25:14Speaker 10: Yeah, is this the first virtual one you guys have done.
- 2:25:18Speaker 4: We've just started kind of doing virtuals. You're kind of
- 2:25:21Speaker 4: he's like the first player that we've had after a
- 2:25:23Speaker 4: game virtual. We've been trying to get like college coaches
- 2:25:27Speaker 4: will hop on. We haven't gotten any NFL coach yet,
- 2:25:29Speaker 4: but we've kind of pivoted to where we're gonna get
- 2:25:32Speaker 4: some more virtual stuff just because people love talking football.
- 2:25:34Speaker 3: Twenty four sevens Yeah this this season, it's either football
- 2:25:37Speaker 3: or nothing. If we put anything else out there other
- 2:25:39Speaker 3: than the football, they're like, get it out of here.
- 2:25:40Speaker 4: But yeah, you're the first player, so we appreciate you.
- 2:25:43Speaker 10: Yeah, you guys are killing it. Dude, I'm sorry I
- 2:25:45Speaker 10: missed you during training camps.
- 2:25:46Speaker 4: Oh you're good man, good good man, Thank you, brother
- 2:25:49Speaker 4: of us.
- 2:25:49Speaker 3: Appreciate you.
