Transcript
- 0:16Welcome to the bedroom sessions. Hey, this is corn boy from 4
- 0:21Horsemen toy design and you're listening to the Euro Legions
- 0:24podcast. So it's 7th of November.
- 0:27It's the evening after intern. We've just been interns for a
- 0:32day, guys. Has that been?
- 0:33It's all right. Yeah, it was tough.
- 0:38On the legs, standing up, eating all that pizza and the cookies
- 0:42and the cookies and the. Breakfast.
- 0:43It was it. Was a mythic legion limbo
- 0:45competition that really did for him.
- 0:46He was doing fines a lot and then it's just like how low can
- 0:49he go? Not really low.
- 0:51And Rich, you're you. You were fine until you had to
- 0:53carry that box of figures. So.
- 0:56As I said, it was half what the number was last year, I mean.
- 0:59Last year was very high it. Was very high, yeah, extremely
- 1:02high. So no, it's it's much less this
- 1:03year. It was the biggest box they
- 1:05handed out I think in the entire intern.
- 1:07But yeah, it was still I. Think it was still the biggest
- 1:10box. I think the the Scaramucci guy
- 1:12at the end scary had a big. Tony.
- 1:16Manucci yeah, I don't know. Where they got?
- 1:20Maybe he had driven home and forgot neat orders, thought he
- 1:23was collecting at the hotel or something.
- 1:25Connie ordered 28 figures. So so anyway.
- 1:28Some kind of wise guy. Talking like everyone should
- 1:30know what was going on here, but basically at Leach it's gone.
- 1:33You, you are at intern you, you got a little QR code on the wall
- 1:37and they gave you access to like a private page on the store
- 1:42horseman that you could go in and order figures that you can
- 1:45collect at the end of the day. And I think last year Richie
- 1:48said that was more like a just a printed off sheet and you take
- 1:51it. Was just a cheat with a text.
- 1:52Yeah, so. This was better because then you
- 1:54could pay on the line. The only complication for us was
- 1:58putting in your address. Yeah, it'll be America.
- 2:01The little behind the scenes to have Diego knocked latter and I
- 2:04think it was a cracking way to do things, wasn't it?
- 2:07So yeah. And now you actually, we just
- 2:09went in and got Diego to the. Order.
- 2:11I got a personal service from ordering service.
- 2:15Just service from Diego, that's from Diego that wasn't on the
- 2:18list of Internet sessions was. It paid extra for that.
- 2:22Did you? Yeah.
- 2:25So what you saved on shipping, you lost on there on that.
- 2:28That's why he's aching now, isn't it?
- 2:30Too much? Too much earlier.
- 2:32Oh, man, So yeah, that was that was nice.
- 2:35So we got to I think that takes a little bit of the case.
- 2:38Stress is the wrong word here because it's not stressful to
- 2:41have to buy things that, you know, are additional stuff to,
- 2:46you know, feeding yourself and living.
- 2:48So but allegiance can weekend, especially when you have a table
- 2:52at the show and you maybe want to get a couple of figures off
- 2:55the horsemen. And I know there's a slot after
- 2:58the show on Saturday for us, but I think this is still better.
- 3:02It's out of the way. It's done.
- 3:03Absolutely, yeah. I mean the the slot after the
- 3:06show, the queue was huge. Last time.
- 3:07It's like an hour to get through the queue and whereas last year
- 3:11intern then you'd buy one of each figure, this year that
- 3:13limit was lifted. So I was able to get everything
- 3:15I want. So I don't have to worry about
- 3:17that now. Should I finish this Saturday?
- 3:18I'm in the bar. And to give you an idea, I mean,
- 3:21I this was, I think I maybe mentioned it on the show at some
- 3:25stage around the time of the mystery boxes, but I basically
- 3:27said I'm going to pick up at Leeds and scan what I would hope
- 3:30to get to mystery boxes. And if they weren't there, big
- 3:33deal, you know. But yeah, that's what I ended up
- 3:35getting. So I got AK door.
- 3:37We don't need to go through your order now, Richard.
- 3:39I'm just giving the people an example of we should.
- 3:41He gives us a good half an hour of.
- 3:43Content. We're going for quality over
- 3:46quantity here if we can I. Have to do that some time.
- 3:50This is our first recording of the weekend.
- 3:51You could be padding out later and you know, and, but you know,
- 3:55if you want to you, we record a lot this weekend.
- 3:58You know you can have a couple of weeks off podcasting, you
- 3:59know, you know the next, the next recording we do could be
- 4:04the figures of the year. Yeah.
- 4:07And we got to stretch that to our 100th.
- 4:11We're not going to be doing any of that.
- 4:12Whatever it lands that lands if the 100 episode is literally
- 4:19whatever it is, you know a new cosmic legions waivers and
- 4:23that's what it is I. Don't think we gain that.
- 4:25It'll be figure. Yeah, and so I got a kid.
- 4:30Cador, Brother Mandibulus, Faunus, Sir Galifrey, Zaria,
- 4:34Gunks and snags. So they were the ones I would
- 4:36have picked out of the mystery boxes.
- 4:38Was tempted by the shadow of In the Shadow of Ranger, but I've
- 4:44had them and. Yeah, no, I I have them, so I
- 4:46won't go through my whole order, but I did the same.
- 4:48So I got a Zaria Faunus brother Mandibulous, and I've forgotten
- 4:54his name. Snag.
- 4:55It's Snag. Snag Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 4:57yeah. I just picked up those four,
- 4:58which is the ones I'd wanted to. Yeah, Zaria and Snag.
- 5:01I've got a Snag already, but the paint app on his nose is a bit
- 5:04squiffy, so Snag is a great for Yeah, yeah, I sit repaint the
- 5:08second one and he'll still be really cool.
- 5:10So yeah. I think if I'm if I'm I was told
- 5:14my kid I'm going to get him a figure.
- 5:17He wants a plunder links plunder strong.
- 5:19But I might throw in one of these maybe, and maybe Snag
- 5:21might be the one because, because The thing is then he'll
- 5:24he'll play with it and look after it.
- 5:25But I've ever need the snag Yeah, for something.
- 5:28I'll be able to bargain with them, you know.
- 5:30Here, have this cosmic Legion spexion instead or.
- 5:34Hear me out. Just steal it back off.
- 5:39I could do that when he was 4. You know, he did get the odd
- 5:42Legion builder to play with. And then when I was doing the
- 5:44costume and I was like, I don't have any goblin in arms there.
- 5:47You. Go, I look over there.
- 5:52Look, there's your sister's Barbie.
- 5:54Where's the goblin gone? Oh, I don't know.
- 5:56He. Jumped out the window.
- 5:58So it's like when I when I rediscovered my vintage Star
- 6:01Wars about two or three years ago.
- 6:03Three or four years ago? Probably no.
- 6:05I got them out and my daughter who was eight at the time, was
- 6:08like, oh amazing. And she's playing with the Uox
- 6:10obviously because of the bears and bashing them together.
- 6:13And then I just ebayed how much one was worth and said so I was
- 6:15like get them off for get them off for now, get them off for
- 6:16now. And I sold like up on £450 and
- 6:19that since it's. Totally moanly.
- 6:22Oh man, yeah, I suppose. Yeah, that that's kind of what
- 6:25you have to do. But yeah, we should get a little
- 6:28bit back on topics. So and Matt, yeah, you, you got
- 6:31a lot of cosmics as well. Rich, I did.
- 6:32I got some surprising. Yeah, I was.
- 6:35Well, I was talking to some more cosmic builders, really.
- 6:36So I got 4 sentries, science officer, a couple of pilots.
- 6:40So I've got lots of cosmic heads.
- 6:42It's a lot. Of crushing cardboard.
- 6:44Yes. Oh, yeah, I'll drive you to
- 6:45absolutely insane. Yeah.
- 6:47You'll have sore fingers after popping all the bits out of the
- 6:49bus. Well, I already, I already cut
- 6:51the hand out and putting my armour experience figure
- 6:54together. So it's not started brilliantly
- 6:56on that front, yeah. Yeah, so the way, the, the way
- 7:00the day went. So we, Chris James and his wife
- 7:03Kat, they brought, they'd give us a leftover.
- 7:05So that was very kind of awesome.
- 7:07Yeah. And as well, that's why we're
- 7:08back in one piece. Managed to squeeze your box into
- 7:11the boot on the way home. Rich's boast about this huge box
- 7:14all day? Oh yeah, really?
- 7:16It was so much bigger. But I mean, yeah.
- 7:18So much bigger. We were slagging Joe to a pretty
- 7:21small little package and Rich. Rich really did out to them
- 7:25then. I'll have to unbutton my shirt
- 7:27down 4 buttons later so I do more maths.
- 7:29Make sure your nipples are taken out.
- 7:31But you're quite tall, so I mean, to get 4 buttons for you
- 7:34is like 2 for Joe. So you need to go 8 buttons, get
- 7:37down to where he is. You know, he already promised
- 7:40me. He said, you know, I'm, you
- 7:42know, it's, it's, it's only going down from here.
- 7:44I didn't know what he was talking about.
- 7:46I just nodded and smiled. He's better looking than me.
- 7:50You know, I have to kind of concede defeat here.
- 7:54Actually, when I saw Noah and Wyatt walking in there, I was
- 7:57already in ready with their shades and there's such cool
- 7:59looking dudes. I was like, I was like, wow, at
- 8:02least we sound good. You know, I mean, and that they
- 8:04sound good too, but you know, at least that's what we can offer.
- 8:06Yeah. You know you're not going to get
- 8:08sexy walking. Across yeah why walking down
- 8:10motor tour this morning looking looking like a rock star, yeah.
- 8:14I didn't even look that good when I was 20 and I had long
- 8:17hair. Yeah.
- 8:21So the the way it was set up so we got there with Chris, we had
- 8:24a lot of the weather here is amazing.
- 8:27We go we've looked out again for another year with the weather
- 8:29beautiful in in European. It's like kind of early 20s
- 8:33degrees was that 50s to 60s in in American and not a cloud in
- 8:38the sky. Actually a bit warm inside for a
- 8:43bit of today. I was, I got a bit of a dry
- 8:46cough, I think just from the air con, but and the the the least
- 8:51of my problems. No problem really.
- 8:53And yeah. So that we got to hang out for a
- 8:55while and Jeremy came out and gave us his wonderful
- 8:58introduction, kind of hyped us up a little bit and told us the
- 9:03best news of the morning so far, which was that this breakfast
- 9:05down the corridor and Rich. And those breakfast muffins.
- 9:09Yeah, I was so happy. My little face was like a kid at
- 9:12Christmas. So the toys, the toys didn't
- 9:14come out of the brown. And I'm going to interrupt
- 9:19intern actually, because I realize now that we we should,
- 9:22we should rewind back a day and talk about your your flight
- 9:25here. Oh.
- 9:26Jesus. So what's up?
- 9:29And Mal got here. We shared a taxi with Rick
- 9:31Emerick, nephew. And at kind of 2:00 Wednesday
- 9:35afternoon from New York, Rich was coming in about 8:15.
- 9:39And the wonderful Brett Stoddart was gone out to New York to
- 9:42collect him and David Williams. And what happened from there,
- 9:45Rich? Well, it's it.
- 9:47It was all well and good and and running perfectly until about 45
- 9:51minutes for it due to take off when suddenly they announced the
- 9:54flight was delayed by an hour, apparently because they couldn't
- 9:59get a lot of people needed help getting on board.
- 10:01It's like that's random, but OK. It turns out that was a lie.
- 10:05In fact, they delayed it by an hour because the previous
- 10:07flight, United flight that had gone out, turned round because
- 10:10of some sort of problem on the plane, came back and then they
- 10:13filled our plane with people from that flight.
- 10:15So it's completely full. But we took off an hour late.
- 10:17But that's fine, we took off. I had a lovely lovely journey,
- 10:24tried to watch Ori and Deadpool and the sound was out of sync
- 10:29with the the screen with the the action.
- 10:32Oh no, I've noticed. Was that with the dodgy
- 10:34headphones you got there or was it it's?
- 10:36I've noticed it's on nearly every film that's been modified
- 10:40for United Airlines, so I think they screwed up the syncing of
- 10:44the sound and they've. Yeah, I just.
- 10:46I watched it and I didn't notice but I did.
- 10:48I used my own headphones. Are you my own headphones?
- 10:51Yeah, just out of sync. Well, I had the.
- 10:52Problem with Twister, and I've had the problem previously with
- 10:55the Transformers risers of the Beasts last year.
- 10:58So yeah, yes, I came up on that. I watched all.
- 11:00Three films. That's fine.
- 11:02Yeah. So we got to Newark.
- 11:03Everything was going fine. The captain.
- 11:05The captain was a it was a hoot. He was very honest.
- 11:08He was like, so just let everybody know after an hour and
- 11:1045 minutes, the flight, we're going to hit a load of
- 11:12turbulence. We can't go around it.
- 11:14So, you know, we'll just get on with it, shall we?
- 11:16Everyone's like, oh, OK, cool. But, you know, we missed that.
- 11:19And we got to Newark and then there was some sort of
- 11:21signalling issue at Newark. So all the planes were in like a
- 11:25circling flight path around Newark.
- 11:28The man on the ground with the flag?
- 11:29Yeah, he was out. Of basically he was, he was
- 11:31pissed. He was like unconscious.
- 11:33Yeah, he was here in the bar with us.
- 11:36Yeah. So we were circling and we were
- 11:38circling and then all of a sudden the pilot comes on and
- 11:40goes. Ladies and gentlemen, they fixed
- 11:42the issue down at Newark. But there's an awful lot of
- 11:45planes circling and we're not 1st and we have 10 minutes of
- 11:48reserve fuel and then we're out of reserve fuel and we'll have
- 11:51to divert. If that's the case, then.
- 11:53Yeah, we'll have to divert. If that's the case, soon,
- 11:55there's the second reserve after the reserves.
- 11:57I'm presuming they've got some normal fields as well.
- 11:59So 10 minutes passed and he's like, yeah, no, they're not
- 12:01letting us land. We're going to go to Stuart
- 12:04International Air Field, which is upstate New York, about a 15
- 12:09minute flight from Newark. But it's quite obscure because
- 12:12only the Americans here knew where the hell Stuart was.
- 12:14So we landed there and we landed.
- 12:16And the pilot was like, don't worry, everybody 15 minutes Max.
- 12:19You know, they're coming straight out.
- 12:21As soon as we land, they're straight out with the fuel truck
- 12:23and we're taking off again. An hour later, we took off from.
- 12:27Stuart They're a bit French Open, Stuart and.
- 12:30Everybody was chilled, but they wouldn't let us off the plane
- 12:31because we stopped on the runway and they went, yeah, they're
- 12:33it's a terminal, but we're just going to wait here.
- 12:35So everyone's like, great, OK, So you know, we took off 15
- 12:40minute flights in Newark. It was ridiculous.
- 12:42We're flying so low. There's like there's no point
- 12:43going up all the way. We'll just fly low and quite
- 12:46slow. The slowest plane flight I've
- 12:47ever had. So we get to Newark.
- 12:48Brilliant touchdown. It's like great, we're here.
- 12:51We're like 3 hours late but at least we're here.
- 12:53This is amazing. Plane comes to stop.
- 12:57Taxis off the runway heading towards the terminal.
- 13:00Hits a gate that had fallen off a truck.
- 13:03It's like a temporary gate that they'd been using to demarcate
- 13:07something had fallen off the back of one of the trucks.
- 13:10The truck hadn't realised and just gone to the depot.
- 13:13Our pilot didn't see it and hit it.
- 13:16So we sat on the plane and it's like a doom and the, you know,
- 13:19the plane goes over this thing and then the pilot or copilot or
- 13:22whoever hit the black, you know, emergency stop equivalent in the
- 13:27car. Everybody looking, we're all
- 13:29wearing our seatbelts. Everyone gets pitched forward
- 13:32and like thrown back and the pilot's like, yeah, so we've
- 13:35just hit a gate that's that's on there and we can't move now
- 13:40because it could make it worse. So we have to wait for somebody
- 13:42to come out and move it. And you're like, well, that's
- 13:43fine. 45 minutes later, they finally moved the gate.
- 13:49So. Yeah, so.
- 13:50Were you not going crazy or? Everybody's really, really
- 13:53chilled about it. Actually it, it, it was so bad.
- 13:55I think everyone was the point of delirium.
- 13:57It was like. It's right there.
- 14:00Was a we're alive. Yeah.
- 14:02There's an elderly American woman and her adult daughter
- 14:04behind me. And they're like, we're going to
- 14:06miss our connection now. Well, it doesn't.
- 14:07Many things happen, you know, it was, it was like half 11 at
- 14:11night at that point. And everyone's just lost the
- 14:12will to live. So.
- 14:13Yeah, pretty much 4 hours late. It was like being in a diehard
- 14:16film. It was like, you know, we're
- 14:18running out of fuel. We have to land quick, quick,
- 14:19quick. When we do land, we hit
- 14:21something, but you know, someones left on the runway,
- 14:24like Bruce Willis opening up the drain cover.
- 14:26It's like, Oh my God. And the legend Brett wait.
- 14:30God bless him. I'm not religious, but God bless
- 14:32him. Brett was sat there waiting for
- 14:34me. Even David Williams had had an
- 14:36hour and a half chat in the car while waiting in the short term
- 14:40drop off zone. So please, hopefully Brett
- 14:42doesn't get done for that. Yeah.
- 14:44And then drove me back. I don't think there's any post
- 14:47penalties here. You either get caught in the
- 14:49actor or you're fine. It's not like in Europe, you
- 14:52know, they catch you on a camera and they send you the picture a
- 14:54month later and say there you go, £150 please.
- 14:56Yes, I got to the hotel about half midnight eventually.
- 15:00It's just like it's just a long day, but you know.
- 15:04So that's you had Mike mail last year, John, I've had Mike mail
- 15:06this year. So Mal, you are screwed.
- 15:09You want to come a week early? Next year I'm doing, yeah, I'm
- 15:11travelling on the Saturday beforehand.
- 15:13Next year, give me a couple of days to get here.
- 15:16Before stub your toe, then you know you have to go into the
- 15:20hospital or. That that'll be it.
- 15:23That that'll be it is you. You had problems before you got
- 15:25on the flight. Rich had problems, the main one
- 15:28after, you know, during the bit you would have thought you were
- 15:30you have home free. I'll have a problem after I've
- 15:33gotten off the flight. I'll be in the hotel and like,
- 15:36you know, yeah, fall off a balcony or something.
- 15:38Yeah. The best bit was how casual the
- 15:40pilot was. He was just, he was virtually
- 15:42horizontal. He was so relaxed.
- 15:43He was like, yeah, there's loads of turbulence, but we'll be all
- 15:47right. And he's like, yeah, but he's,
- 15:48he was like, crew, sit down. But.
- 15:50You do, you know, you do one flight every so often, Yes,
- 15:52doing this every day of the week or like every working day, but.
- 15:55He just announces casually, like, so we've got 10 minutes of
- 15:57reserve fuel left, and then we've run out of that fuel and
- 16:00everyone's like, what? What?
- 16:03I don't need your transparency now, Sir, You know, tell us a
- 16:06little why. Yeah, you know.
- 16:07Yeah, just go surprise. London A Stuart.
- 16:12Isn't this where we were supposed to go?
- 16:14Yeah. Have you heard of Stewart
- 16:15International? No, neither has anyone else.
- 16:17Yeah, here we are. It was weird airport.
- 16:19'Cause it was just, it was just full of, there was like two or
- 16:21three fighter jets, yeah, like loads of military cargo planes.
- 16:25Ah, it was just like. 50. Yeah, we could have played that
- 16:28up, couldn't. He's like, there's been a
- 16:29problem with the plane. We can't tell you what.
- 16:33Yeah, please ignore the please ignore the military presence.
- 16:37There we go. We're gonna get escorted by two
- 16:39jets. But I think whatever he it did,
- 16:42it worked because all of you in the plane were completely
- 16:45relaxed about it there. Wasn't a crossword, everyone was
- 16:48just literally. If he was, if he was kind of
- 16:50tense, I think that would have fed into the quite possible.
- 16:53Yeah, I think that definitely is a they must teach that at pilot
- 16:57training. You know, if this, you know, it
- 17:00could be on fire in the cockpit. You get on the thing and you
- 17:02just you're you're performing. You're like you're on Saturday
- 17:05Night Live. Just go.
- 17:06This is your moment. See, our pilot, this is a bit of
- 17:10a thing I've not sort of said to anyone.
- 17:12He's our pilot because thing comes up on the please listen to
- 17:15this important announcement and it's like, I'm sure, I'm sure
- 17:25I'm all right. I won't say anything that I
- 17:29didn't hear it. But like, because I fly for
- 17:32Brussels, they did like all the announcements in English, but
- 17:35then they did a lady, one of their hostesses spoke French, so
- 17:39she did it in French. And then they also had an
- 17:41automated one in Flemish because Belgium has 2 languages and, and
- 17:46they're very particular about it because when I was, I was in
- 17:49hospital years ago in Brussels for a thing that I had to go to
- 17:52Brussels for. And the nurses, some of them
- 17:57were Flemish speaking. And when I tried to then speak
- 18:01my little bit of French, then they were like, no, no, no
- 18:03English. I don't speak French.
- 18:04It was like really like, or I can speak French, but I don't
- 18:08like to. And I love your English and I
- 18:09like to practice my English. I was like, OK, cool.
- 18:13I want the Flemish nurses, you know, I don't want any of the
- 18:16wee bonjours. I want the Flemish ladies and,
- 18:20and guys, whatever. As long as they speak their
- 18:22English to me, I'm good. Knowing I'm going to start
- 18:24referring to the French as the Wee Bonjours.
- 18:28And as it was, it was jaw surgery I had.
- 18:31So of course, you know, so, you know, even me speaking was
- 18:35tricky at the time. I used to play golf with this.
- 18:38Firstly, my our pilot was one of these.
- 18:40He had this American accent from movies.
- 18:42It was the most comforting thing.
- 18:44You know, he comes on the thing and you're like, well, God, this
- 18:46is he's, he's big pilot. You know, he is literally, he's
- 18:49chief of the Academy of Pilots. He sounds like, you know, he's
- 18:52been in the Air Force or whatever.
- 18:54And, and I used to play golf with a guy who's a retired
- 19:01pilot, like regular pilot. And he's in his retirement.
- 19:05He was doing this kind of simulator training with all the
- 19:07pilots to kind of, they have to do a certain amount of simulator
- 19:10hours to keep their license or whatever.
- 19:12And he's from kind of southern, he's like, he's lived in Europe
- 19:16for years, but he still had this kind of southern drawl.
- 19:18And he says to me, John, when I was growing up and learning to
- 19:23fly, flying was flying was dangerous and sex was safe.
- 19:27And now it's the other way around.
- 19:33It's brilliant. And he said, he said, yeah,
- 19:35there's so much technology in these planes.
- 19:37He said, it's pretty hard to crash them.
- 19:39You know, it's pretty hard. You know, stuff really has to go
- 19:43wrong and it's really only like, yeah, really bad air or freak
- 19:48event, whatever. So that gave me a little bit of
- 19:50comfort. I was never nervous flower.
- 19:52But you don't like the turbulence, Although I don't
- 19:55mind it in those big plates, you know, when you're in the kind of
- 19:57regular, like, you know, maybe 737, whatever the kind of the no
- 20:03middle aisles planes. There you really feel it.
- 20:06I find in the bigger ones you don't feel it unless it's
- 20:08really. Oh well felt I'll determine
- 20:12swipe through at one point it the proper big drop that
- 20:15sometimes happens. Yeah, Yeah.
- 20:16Well. It turned out the turbulence
- 20:18wasn't actually as bad as he said.
- 20:19We had about 10 minutes of sort of thing.
- 20:22Unfortunately, I was in the toilet when it started.
- 20:24Yes. So I did hit my head above the
- 20:26toilet because it it suddenly jerked.
- 20:29I was like, oh, OK, there we go then.
- 20:32Well, I, I funnily know if I got up to go to the toilet and then
- 20:35he kicked in, got into the toilet and immediately went back
- 20:39against the wall, felt like I'd nearly went through to the other
- 20:42toilet. Yeah, that firm.
- 20:44Fortunately, you know you then like right, like bronze.
- 20:50Demonstrating bronze, yeah. There's holding on to the,
- 20:53there's like a bar above the toilet that you can hold on to.
- 20:56And I was, I was holding on. Yeah, this is going to be all
- 20:59these recordings from regions counter mostly going to be
- 21:02listed audio listener specials. Yeah, I'm not a videographer, so
- 21:06yeah, you know, maybe we'll repackage them for YouTube, but
- 21:11I don't think that's probably a good idea.
- 21:14Like a scale of legions kind of the schedule.
- 21:17It doesn't. Seem to be still of me carrying
- 21:19a huge box of figures. So anyway, we were, we were
- 21:24having breakfast at this intern as I remember, and that went
- 21:29down for a little while and then we were kind of split into
- 21:31groups. But it was kind of you weren't
- 21:33told what to group to go was kind of all you're over, that's
- 21:36it. But there was a lot of people
- 21:37because I think they invited a good few, the likes of us.
- 21:40There was at least twice as many people.
- 21:43But it worked because, well, we get to have it worked really
- 21:46well. But so I was kind of near the
- 21:49front door. So Jeremy said, OK, the people
- 21:51over near the front door, you just go out and kind of form a
- 21:53group. And that was me.
- 21:55And you actually ended up that group.
- 21:56And then Mal was in another group.
- 21:58So then Jeremy called out who went where, and I didn't realize
- 22:03I thought the Armory was going to be a thing that everyone did
- 22:05at the end. But the Armory was one of the
- 22:08things and we were the first that was our first thing.
- 22:11It was like, it was a little bit like, you know, going straight
- 22:15to the cocaine, you know, like, you know, not not that I do
- 22:19that, but you know, it's like, like have a few beers.
- 22:21No, no, no, let's. Go straight to the whiskey.
- 22:24That you know. Yeah, there was a there was a
- 22:27slight fear in my heart at that point as, oh God, I'm trying to
- 22:29find pictures on my phone of what I wanted to get and this
- 22:31sort of stuff. Yeah, and I was already in the
- 22:35middle of the QR code thing and and then I was like kind of
- 22:38sucked into that hole. Then I was like, Oh my God.
- 22:40So the Armory was set up and apparently it was in a building
- 22:44across the parking lot from where the the main horsemen
- 22:47offices are. And it's set up exactly like
- 22:51it's going to be tomorrow in our Saturday.
- 22:53Yes. Legions gone.
- 22:55And it's really cool. It's kind of, it's kind of got
- 23:00this canopy over it and then two long rows of kind of tables with
- 23:04a kind of aisle in the middle where Joe and I guess Diego will
- 23:07be and or else is working there. And then the parts are all set
- 23:11up and you kind of go along and it's kind of foolproof.
- 23:14They have all this. We started at the heads,
- 23:16although they said they might actually leave the heads till
- 23:18the end because people felt that getting the heads first was a
- 23:22little bit fusing. But anyway, you've got the heads
- 23:25and you could pick first. You could get your plastic tray
- 23:29for like the box, and I took all four.
- 23:33Yeah, I realized that the smart thing to do would have been
- 23:36maybe to take one or two and then do 2 laps.
- 23:41Which in hindsight you could have done initially like oh I
- 23:45need to. Yeah, I need to get my.
- 23:47They allowed us to get 4, which was amazing and and so I was
- 23:53actually I got to get my four or before they say no to, you know,
- 23:57you're that in your head. Get it in before they realize
- 23:59the mistake. So Joe Vasa Polo had done this
- 24:02thing with the parts. So they're all in bags and in
- 24:04each each little like tray or kind of it's like a box, small
- 24:08little wooden tray box has bags of the head of the part.
- 24:12And then there's this wooden board on the back of the box
- 24:16popping up and it has the part that you're going to get in that
- 24:19bag glued onto it. So then you can, you don't need
- 24:21to be checking what's in this bag, what's in that bag do.
- 24:23You know they're on anything with that is the first head I
- 24:26picked up was the wrong head. No.
- 24:29And only about three people have been down the line before me.
- 24:31The one of them obviously picked it up and dropped it back.
- 24:33Yeah, well, that's that thing happened.
- 24:34So maybe take a glancing look, although this won't be out
- 24:37before before people have cross. People took a look.
- 24:40Yeah, yeah, exactly. So, yeah, so you go down and
- 24:44then you pick up. It was pretty cool process and
- 24:47it was very cool for, I mean, it wouldn't have mattered who it
- 24:50was because I think we know most people are a lot of people and
- 24:54if you're not, you get to know them.
- 24:55But it was pretty cool. Me and Rich were kind of side
- 24:57beside and Kent was behind me, who always comments on her show.
- 25:01So. So we kind of get to know him
- 25:03well as well. And we're all just sharing this
- 25:05kind of first experience. Jordan from Purple Gang Gang was
- 25:10the first one to check out. He was, he pretty much ran down
- 25:12the because they had the same figures on both sides.
- 25:15So he pretty much sprinted down just like throwing things in and
- 25:19then checked out first. So he was very purple things,
- 25:22lots of purple things. I'm sure man wants to say
- 25:26something. No, I just he can't have
- 25:28possibly done that because we did get it asked not to go from
- 25:33no exactly possibly. I'm sure he didn't.
- 25:36I'm sure he. Buried it up a little bit, must
- 25:38have had a mixture. And people were putting the the
- 25:44bare arms and legs. How many bare arms and legs now
- 25:47do you think Rich bought? You think it'd be 0?
- 25:50No, no, he'd already. Said it was 100% zero.
- 25:53I don't want 2 years often. 2/3. There was two, there was 2, and
- 25:57I don't know if he went for more.
- 25:59I didn't buy it. I have no idea what you're
- 26:00talking about. There is no photographic
- 26:02evidence suggests any any difference to that at all.
- 26:05John didn't make me pose, holding a bag of the barbarian
- 26:08parts and smiling. Yeah, yes, I bought 222.
- 26:11I bought $10 each. You can't.
- 26:13That was if I. Choose how much would they go
- 26:15for on the John's 122? They will be used for customs.
- 26:18John, thank you. Right, OK.
- 26:20Should I practice my? Should I practice my I need to
- 26:25get keep, I need to keep one of mine aside to practice paint
- 26:28matching for whatever head you want.
- 26:30Yeah, Basically, Yeah, that's fair.
- 26:33That's fair. That's a good shot, of course.
- 26:35Yeah, because you don't get that bare arms very often.
- 26:38Torso, you could just use them, repaint them and use them for
- 26:42other things. Yeah.
- 26:44It's the upper legs as well, isn't it?
- 26:45Yeah, yeah, yeah. So with all the skin basically.
- 26:48It's all the all the good pieces.
- 26:50Yeah, for, yeah, it's all the stuff that people are
- 26:52desperately trying to find. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:55Everyone in pop and swap and pop and swap.
- 26:57The swap thing tomorrow, yeah, are going to be after those arms
- 27:00and legs, various colours, yeah, whatever sort of things I told.
- 27:03You why I didn't bring any with me?
- 27:05Because they're the bits I also will use for things.
- 27:08Yeah, but they're the parts I brought from other figures are
- 27:11not just them, but for the puff and swap event, any of those
- 27:16parts I had that I wasn't going to use.
- 27:18Yeah, I've definitely bought them above like, you know,
- 27:22whatever, maybe lower legs or whatever.
- 27:24They're definitely more valuable for customizers anyway.
- 27:29Yeah. So that was that was pretty
- 27:30crazy. And then the first person I
- 27:32thought do it was Eric Miller started to assemble his figure
- 27:35and put it in the box. And then he showed me this box
- 27:38with the Red Knight packed into it with, you know, the label
- 27:42around it. And and I was like, oh, that
- 27:44looks good. I I hated to do that point.
- 27:46That's a lovely man. But I hated it because it was
- 27:48like I didn't go for the Red Knight and that looks amazing.
- 27:51Damn you, Eric. Oh yeah, I started going on the
- 27:54way out. We had a backpack and he had a
- 27:56he had the black cloth tonight. It's sticking out of it.
- 27:59And I was like, Oh no, I didn't get one of them.
- 28:01What did I do? And then of course, I told Chris
- 28:07afterwards and he was like, I got one of them.
- 28:08I can I can swap you or you know, and I was like, Chris,
- 28:12you're too nice now, man. You're you're driving me here,
- 28:14there and everywhere. And you want to give me figure
- 28:17that you're going to forgo yourself then for so, But if I
- 28:21do get another chance that we can, I think that'd be my
- 28:23priority. One would be that black one.
- 28:24It just looks so good with that bucket helmet.
- 28:27One person that probably won't have that problem is is our
- 28:29friend Brett Slauddart because I think he has pretty much one of
- 28:31everything because he got 4 himself and then anybody else
- 28:34who wasn't getting four were were given a sheet.
- 28:37Employed. With pictures and the names of
- 28:39the parts so that they could put the correct combinations
- 28:42together, and then you. Got it, I mean.
- 28:45He was he getting people to mule.
- 28:47For him, yeah, the the sticking it up their ass was.
- 28:51It wasn't a prerequisite. But that was optional.
- 28:54But some of them went for it straight away, yeah.
- 28:57Let's just claim and say that that's just a joke.
- 29:00You think Brett, Brett is not involved in any sort of the
- 29:03legal activities like that. But I think Brett is the kind of
- 29:05guy even even even crazily hanging around for you to
- 29:11actually bring you back when you could just have easily got an
- 29:13Uber and. Yeah, I, I, I so genuinely can't
- 29:16believe. He just, when he does something,
- 29:18he does it. I think that's that's just
- 29:20Brett. So we have to love that about
- 29:23him. He's a very nice man.
- 29:25He's a great guy. And yeah, so that was the first
- 29:29thing. And I was like, wow, how can how
- 29:32can the day get better? What did you do first then?
- 29:34Now, what was your first event? The sculpting, it's only it's
- 29:41only a couple hours. Jeez, let's see how you're not.
- 29:46Talking about a wave that was revealed a month ago.
- 29:47That's after one day. Wait.
- 29:49I've had more the sculpting with Mr. Eric Treadway, which was
- 29:54awesome. Yeah.
- 29:55And. If that was a huge present for
- 29:59for Mr. Jones, we'll get to that because we were in there after.
- 30:02You. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:04Do you want me to talk about? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:06So. So he obviously asks what, what
- 30:08people, what, what should he sculpt?
- 30:10And you know, one of the interns, because there was a mix
- 30:14of interns and guests and the guests understandably had been
- 30:20asked to sort of take a bit of a back seat like the interns who
- 30:23had paid, take charge of the sessions and lead the so.
- 30:28But you know, a few that we were guess that back, but the intern
- 30:34all we got with was a creature into which Eric was like, great,
- 30:37that's exactly what I like to do.
- 30:40And then because that's where it sort of stalled, no, I think
- 30:46they might not have been guests, actually, to be fair, there
- 30:48might have been interns, but they've done it before.
- 30:49It was Thomas Ballet and. Yeah, Thomas got the post, So he
- 30:53was. Definitely.
- 30:53Yeah, I was right. OK, so to be fair.
- 30:56But they were trying to sit back a bit as well, to be fair to
- 30:58them, and David suggested this. A lizard.
- 31:02A desert lizard. Goodman, David.
- 31:06And it's like watching a magician just, you know,
- 31:09casually. He sort of extends a little bit
- 31:13here and a little bit there on zebrush to give it a general
- 31:15shave. Rich extended as.
- 31:17Well, a little bulbous bit here. And then of course, he just
- 31:24starts like cutting into it, you know, metaphorically on the
- 31:29programme, cutting into it and pulling it this way and that
- 31:33way. And again, we're not talking
- 31:34about Rich here. We're talking about Eric
- 31:35Treadaway using Zebrush. But what I noticed about him is
- 31:39that he he made a big kind of sculpt into it, and then he used
- 31:42some other part of the, the tool, you know, to kind of
- 31:45smooth out what he's done. That's his kind of process, I
- 31:48guess. Yeah.
- 31:49Yeah. Almost like clay sculpting.
- 31:51Yeah. But it's on its screen.
- 31:52It's amazing. And and he produced that by the
- 31:54end of the session. We haven't finished.
- 31:56The school and this is like 45 minutes to you know, it's kind
- 31:59of 45 minutes session that maybe take you can go up to an hour,
- 32:04but it's usually. And by the end of the session,
- 32:07he produced a, a, a littered one of these sort of spiny lizard
- 32:12sort of heads with a neck piece that, and they're a bit like the
- 32:17thigh garnet piece, but designed to look a bit more like a
- 32:20lizard. And it was just so cool.
- 32:22Very, very cool looking. Yeah.
- 32:25Yeah, because we followed you in and it's fed, so I was excited
- 32:27at the sights of that. So I pretty much ran up and got
- 32:30a photograph of Eric sitting sitting in front of that before
- 32:32he took it off the screen. It's like he can do snake men.
- 32:37Yeah, Rich has this photo of like, Eric sitting there, like,
- 32:40you know, you know, those school photos you have, you know, when
- 32:43back in the day they just took, I'm sure they did it near
- 32:45school. Photographer come along and you
- 32:47sit at the desk, put your hands at the desk, you know, and
- 32:49whatever this school work is behind you on the wall.
- 32:53And this is just Eric sitting there, framed nicely in the
- 32:55middle of the photo with the lizard of the screen behind
- 32:58them. So slight detour to this because
- 33:00I've got a little funny story. Funny story about school photos.
- 33:04So I am very open, not open, honest and accepting of the fact
- 33:09I am not at all photogenic. That doesn't mean I think I'm
- 33:12ugly or funny looking, just some people don't photograph well and
- 33:16I'm one of those people. You.
- 33:17Always have a weird you or you think that you always have a
- 33:20weird pose, even when. And or I just have a really
- 33:23awkward looking face to the point that one year, one year we
- 33:28got the school photo, my mum opened it, looked at it and
- 33:32went, you think we'll send that back, shall we?
- 33:34Yeah. Oh.
- 33:40Wow. Kennedy.
- 33:41Yeah, wow. I mean, I, I what?
- 33:45Age we yeah, I was like. Young teen, you know, it was
- 33:50middle school, whatever that would wow so.
- 33:54It's not as funny as that, but my first ever school photographs
- 33:56are the first year in primary school, so I was about four,
- 33:59maybe 5 minutes in the. Picture was taken that already
- 34:02seems It already seems funny to think of you as a four year old
- 34:04and. I'm wearing makeup in the
- 34:07picture and obviously, obviously wearing makeup because I went
- 34:11straight over the handlebars on my bike about two days before it
- 34:13into all the skin off my nose, on my lip.
- 34:16So my mum do the photo. Yeah, so my mum's makeup to me
- 34:19over so, so it wouldn't show and I just look really weird because
- 34:23I'm just covered in makeup. It's just like, what the hell?
- 34:27The scars would have been better.
- 34:29Yeah, and it's show that I've, you know, I've had a child.
- 34:32Yeah, you know, I've done that. Instead, I look like a kind of a
- 34:36four year old drag queen. 4 year old catwalk model.
- 34:43Oh my goodness. If you can ever fish this actor
- 34:46out, though, that would. Be Oh, I've got it somewhere.
- 34:48Yeah, so I'll see what I can do. Oh, that might be a reason to
- 34:50put this on YouTube. It's just that picture.
- 34:53People will listen the whole way to see what that's about.
- 34:56Oh, my God. Yeah.
- 34:58So no, don't apologize. So that was a that was your
- 35:04snake man. So he colored yours in as well?
- 35:07Yes, he was. Well, Angie Hart, yeah, lady,
- 35:14good lady, wife, as Richard say was.
- 35:19That's still my life. Was asking about how he if he
- 35:25if. I can't remember the exact
- 35:27context in question, but it was around if he ever coloured
- 35:30things as he was sculpting to get an idea of whether it would
- 35:34work in a colour if he'd already had an idea what he want, you
- 35:39know, and that sort of thing. So he showed how that he can
- 35:41actually colour it in the programme and work with it
- 35:46coloured already cut as if he's using coloured clay to, you
- 35:50know, help it give him that idea of whether it's going to look
- 35:53how he wants it to. And so, yeah, so he would
- 35:55showing off that and that he could do different types of
- 35:58material that he could sculpting and that sort of thing.
- 36:02So that's why it was coloured. Yeah.
- 36:04Awesome. And so we did it in, in Z
- 36:06brushes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:07Or Z brushes. Yeah.
- 36:10Z Brush. Whatever even the Canadians
- 36:14agree with us on, this is Z Brush.
- 36:19But the amazing thing for me, haven't seen him twice now, is
- 36:21he does that while talking to everybody.
- 36:23Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's chatting about this,
- 36:25that and the other people while doing this.
- 36:27Absolutely stunning the sculpt. You know, this the screen, you
- 36:30know, this modern thing some people can do of like even have
- 36:33a conversation while they're flicking on their phone.
- 36:35I mean, I think as older people can really do that.
- 36:37If we're on the phone, we kind of lose the conversation.
- 36:39Younger people can do it. It's a bit like that, you know,
- 36:42he's just done the pad kind of, you know, and, and even one guy
- 36:47in our session said I've been looking at you because I've been
- 36:51kind of asking you the question, a couple of questions, and
- 36:53you've been talking back to me. So I haven't been looking at the
- 36:55screen. And then I look back at the
- 36:57screen and I'm like, oh, wow, when did that happen?
- 36:59Yeah. Yeah, you're just so good.
- 37:04Stupidly talented? Totally.
- 37:06Yeah. And so rich.
- 37:08What happened then in our session?
- 37:10So Gregory Schmergamuga said he wanted a female knight and.
- 37:18And we booed from the. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:19We were like, there was there was pitchforks out and all sorts
- 37:22of stuff. And Eric was like, oh, I hate
- 37:25humans. Great.
- 37:25OK, especially in a short time frame sort of thing.
- 37:28And then somebody else went, oh, what about a pumpkin knight?
- 37:30And he's like, OK, And somebody else went Wendigo and he's like,
- 37:33OK, female knight, pumpkin helmet, Wendigo horns.
- 37:37Let's do that. And you're like, dude, you've
- 37:39got like 45 minutes. And then he proceeded to at
- 37:43least a 15 minute introduction about how he resisted going to Z
- 37:47brush and all this sort of stuff.
- 37:49And you're like, you feel like you're looking at him going,
- 37:50dude, start, start. Don't go here.
- 37:52You're not, you're not run out of time here.
- 37:54You're run out of time. And then, yeah, you know, then
- 37:56he was answering people's questions like somebody asked
- 37:58him where he where, where he studied.
- 38:00So he's telling us about the University of Tennessee and, and
- 38:03all this sudden just chatting away about it, which is very
- 38:06interesting at the same time as doing this amazing sculpture,
- 38:09which looked incredible. By the end he ran out of time a
- 38:12little bit with the Wendigo horns, which he admitted himself
- 38:14but. It's gonna be good.
- 38:16I mean, I'd be happy with those. Yeah, I mean, it's not as good
- 38:18as some of the horns that I've drawn in my drawings, so the
- 38:20people who watched the Line episodes know, but it was, yeah,
- 38:23they were pretty good. Yeah.
- 38:25So he did this female like kind of in the, if you imagine then
- 38:29like Faustia or Hadriana and that kind of, you know, in the
- 38:32helmet. And So what he did was did the
- 38:35the female face first, you know, the kind of ball, like a bald
- 38:39head. And then he takes his other kind
- 38:42of almost like another ball of clay and he stuck it on top of
- 38:45it. And then he was able to subtract
- 38:47that from the face so that the face then popped out of the
- 38:50thing. And then he made the kind of
- 38:52helmet and then, then he, yeah, just blobbed another thing on
- 38:57top of it and met the pumpkin as if that's going to be like the.
- 39:00I suppose you think of it as metal.
- 39:02That you could, yeah. It's a faceplate you could lift
- 39:04up with stuff. Like the lion, that is it.
- 39:07Hey, Diana had yes. And then yeah, then at the end
- 39:10then he just stuck the Wendy goals on the back of it and it
- 39:12was like a holy crap. And he did this thing with the
- 39:16pumpkin as well where he was able to kind of basically do a
- 39:20little bit of masking and magic. He explained it all.
- 39:23I can't recall it exactly, but it meant that the kind of inside
- 39:28of the pumpkin helmet just kind of all hollowed out.
- 39:30And then you could see the eyes of the of the yeah through the
- 39:35through just incredible because he did the face of yeah, you
- 39:38know, like you would do. And as he did at that point,
- 39:40Corn Boy, who was in the session for a little bit as well.
- 39:43What? And that's why he's a genius.
- 39:45And then just walked out of the room after Dear Mike dropped.
- 39:49Yeah, absolutely superb. And yeah, so then, yeah, like,
- 39:55incredible, I asked him. Then just as I was going out the
- 39:57door, I said, do you ever get nervous doing this?
- 40:00He said. The first time or two I was kind
- 40:01of, you know, I did a lot of talking before.
- 40:03Before I kind of got to it because it was, you know,
- 40:06worried about maybe not being able to do it in the time or,
- 40:09you know, kind of messing up. But he's done it enough Times
- 40:12Now that he just knows he's going to get edit done.
- 40:16And I suppose the one thing with this is of course he doesn't
- 40:19have to. This is not a challenge where it
- 40:22has to then get printed off or whatever.
- 40:24So I'm sure if he liked any of those things, lizards, he could
- 40:29refine it and beautify it even more and scale, like make it
- 40:35scale it even better. Yeah.
- 40:36I think I said a couple of times in the session, you know, it's
- 40:39like, Eric, do these, do these. So yeah, you can definitely do
- 40:42that. Yeah, for sure.
- 40:44And what was your second session now?
- 40:48Second session, was it to be a few hours it?
- 40:52Was the painting examples and. Who did you go with?
- 40:58Yeah, they say there's a choice, obviously if Sherry or Cameron.
- 41:00And I went with Cameron and it was very interesting.
- 41:04He, he, he, he did a a very interesting sort of way of
- 41:08presenting changing colour schemes to reflect the story
- 41:15behind something. Up with the sword, yeah, Yeah.
- 41:17So we did the same sort to explain that to us.
- 41:20So was it 5 swords? I think he had and he started
- 41:24off. Look at me, I wasn't in a
- 41:25session, all right. That's it, 5 or 6 swords.
- 41:28Oh yeah, you were in. Yeah, that's with Sherry and.
- 41:31Yeah. And the first one was very
- 41:33basically painted or metallic, maybe a bit of shading on it.
- 41:38And yeah. So.
- 41:39So what do you think is the story behind that one?
- 41:41Which characters would carry that?
- 41:43And obviously, oh, it's leisure builders.
- 41:45It's yeah. Rank and file soldier.
- 41:48Yeah. OK.
- 41:49And then he handed another one out that had a bit of a gold
- 41:54handle, the hilt, whatever you call it, and part of the handle
- 41:59painted red as if it had some sort of fabric wrap on it and
- 42:02said so. And then So what?
- 42:04What would have that? And you're like, well, something
- 42:05a bit higher quality of figure with more paint APS, maybe a
- 42:10general in an army, if that sort of thing, or a named character.
- 42:14It's like, yeah. And then handed another one out
- 42:19that I think was the one that had block bluish hue.
- 42:22And he'd done a bit of an effect on the end, a bit of shimmer
- 42:25paint. And it was like watching that
- 42:28was in sort of, you know, I think everyone realized it's
- 42:32meant to be something more magical, something sort of.
- 42:35And he said, yeah, that was my sort of showing what a magical
- 42:38sword could look like. And then one after that was when
- 42:44he'd rusted up. Well, sorry, it was a metal
- 42:47sword, but then with a paint tap to make it look like he'd rusted
- 42:50it up and again, you know, so that's obvious what that belongs
- 42:53to. That's going to be one of the
- 42:54Necronominus sort of characters, a skeleton build or something
- 42:57like that. And then finally another one,
- 43:01which I can't remember what the handle was like on that one.
- 43:04I think there was a bit of extra paint on that, but it's sort of
- 43:06done a bit of greenish sort of sickly looking hue on the end
- 43:11with a bit of darker green to get across the idea it's poison
- 43:14tips or, or something like that. And it was really a simple,
- 43:19effective way of showing how a paint app can change the meaning
- 43:24or the characterization of even a sword.
- 43:27And then he talked about a variety of different things,
- 43:31answered questions, but quickly or at the end, well, not
- 43:34quickly, but you know, at the end of it sort of talked about
- 43:37like the Valiant night. He was asked to do the paint app
- 43:40for that and keeping it neutral. So he'd have this little sheet
- 43:44of paper where he'd sort of tested colours and, you know,
- 43:50done the design for the shield, trying to use colours that
- 43:53didn't appear because one of the is prompts for that was to make
- 43:57sure it didn't look like it belonged to any other faction
- 44:00that existed. So he was trying to find colours
- 44:02that weren't necessarily indicative of any of the other
- 44:06factions. And it was.
- 44:07Yeah, really interesting. Really, really cool.
- 44:11Yeah. So he did pretty similar for us
- 44:13with the sword. That was awesome.
- 44:15And we had a couple of questions about skin tones and he talked
- 44:18about he did, he has his own kind of mix for kind of neutral
- 44:24like Caucasian skin tone. Yes, we got that question as
- 44:27well. And yeah, so that.
- 44:29He works basically from the mid tone to it and if he wants to go
- 44:32slightly darker on the skin tone then he'll he'll put a wash
- 44:35that's darker and if he wants to go later then he'll kind of
- 44:39highlight. It, it's bonkers, isn't it?
- 44:41Because the, the bass tones he's using and even one of the ivory
- 44:44tones he's using to lighten up his bass tones or his mid tone,
- 44:49it's really cheapo paint, isn't it?
- 44:51It's that I forget what it's called, but Apple barrel do them
- 44:56and those sorts of they really like.
- 44:58We don't get them so much in the UK and you're well, I don't
- 45:02think Europe. It's these brands that seems to
- 45:05be common in hobby shops in Europe, isn't it?
- 45:07And and that's what he's using. He's more the most expensive
- 45:10part of that was he's then using the flesh wash Ryklin fresh
- 45:14flesh shade from Citadel. Yeah, if he wants to, you know,
- 45:19deepen the toe, the tones and the the recesses on it, which,
- 45:23yeah, it's mad, Yeah. Shows the skill, Yeah.
- 45:27Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 45:28And I talked about brushes, but airbrush he doesn't use that
- 45:32much but uses it to do but a muscle definition and kind of
- 45:36put shades, shadows in kind of our blend colors that are hard
- 45:39to that was a. Fascinating thing because we got
- 45:42onto the sort of, you know, when I've sort of, I think if you
- 45:45paint minis and realize why you're painting minis, even if
- 45:47you're not very good at it, you understand that you're doing
- 45:50highlights to, to act like the shadows to, to because it's a
- 45:55still thing, whatever size a statue is or a mini is.
- 46:00Because if it's static, you are going to have to paint the
- 46:03highlights to reflect the source of light because it is not
- 46:06moving. Whereas with a figure, you don't
- 46:08need to do that because it's not going to stay in.
- 46:11I mean, it probably is going to stay in one position.
- 46:13Not many of us, but. But you don't want to have like,
- 46:16a dark shadow under the arm if then the arm's going to be
- 46:19raised in the air. But he did say what he will do
- 46:22is on a head because more often than not, it's going to be
- 46:25displayed with the head facing forward.
- 46:27We'll do a light airbrush so, you know, from underneath the
- 46:32chain. Yeah.
- 46:33Yeah. To dark give a bit of shadow in
- 46:36the eyes. Yeah, that's what I did with the
- 46:38leprechaun heads I painted. Yeah, but the the more kind of,
- 46:41you know, that red can in this. I did that from the bottom up.
- 46:44It's funny because I do, I mean, I don't use an airbrush, but I
- 46:47do do it. But more not the thinking about
- 46:50it because I'll I'll dry brush, but dry brush down to keep that
- 46:55darker shades in the Yeah. Yeah, it's it, you know, it's it
- 47:00is trial and error a bit with it.
- 47:01The only good thing with it, if you do it very subtly, you can,
- 47:05you can kind of experiment a bit.
- 47:08And if you do, if it goes a bit too much, then you can just kind
- 47:11of push it back with the color. The hard thing to do is if you
- 47:14have like a mix of the skin tone and it's a mix of a lot of
- 47:17different colors and then you shade it with the airbrush and
- 47:20then you like, oh, I need to lighten it up again.
- 47:23You're like, what? What color do I do now?
- 47:25I've kind of mixed a lot of colors.
- 47:27So it's kind of you need to know, can I get back to where I
- 47:30was before you start doing something, maybe as an
- 47:33experiment. Yeah.
- 47:34So I went to Cameron Session last year.
- 47:35So I thought go to Sherry's issue.
- 47:38So she did differently actually. There were no like products to
- 47:41show off or anything like that. It was it was more a case of she
- 47:45talked us through she uses the this is so flat paints that they
- 47:49like. So she talked through that a lot
- 47:52and just her background sort of thing and talked about how this
- 47:54particular brand of paint which she used for 10 plus years and
- 47:58then they just stopped making it.
- 47:59And then there was a couple of years where her and other people
- 48:04in the studio struggled to find a decent paint.
- 48:06And then they go, they're so flat came in and they, they like
- 48:09that now sort of thing. And then, yeah, just a lot of
- 48:12stuff about the general studio. I I took over the questioning
- 48:16base. I kept apologising to everybody.
- 48:17I was asking all sorts of questions.
- 48:20I was like, you know, how long does it take to paint like a
- 48:22normal sized figure from top to bottom?
- 48:25And she's, oh, we can be a little bit longer depending on
- 48:27how complicated it is, but two days if there's a rush on.
- 48:30And I was like, that's pretty much all Cameron said last year.
- 48:32So yeah, that makes sense. I was like, do you and Cameron
- 48:35pick which fit? You know, it's like of a 10/11
- 48:37figure wave. Do you pick which ones do you
- 48:38want? She's like, no, we've got George
- 48:40now, so he's the office manager. So we just get given.
- 48:46But that was really, really interesting.
- 48:47She's really open about stuff and just chatting about, you
- 48:50know, how she started working with them, what it was like to
- 48:55work there sort of thing. And yeah, it's been really good,
- 48:58really good chat. Yeah, it was on that same topic,
- 49:01Cameron did say, you know, that generally if there's females,
- 49:05Sherry will do them because if she likes doing them and he's.
- 49:09Yeah, that. And they kind of they kind of
- 49:12know what each other wants, their likes.
- 49:15And sometimes then if there's, if someone gets paid maybe two
- 49:18or three bangers in a row, maybe the other person think it's the
- 49:21next. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 49:22Here, you know, yeah. So they I think they have a good
- 49:26working kind of relationship. Yeah, but no, it's really
- 49:29interesting session, actually, very different Thorn Cameron
- 49:31did. But really nice to hear a lot
- 49:33about Sherry actually, because, you know, she's quite behind the
- 49:35scenes a lot of the time with the Horsemen stuff, probably
- 49:37more so than a lot of the other people there.
- 49:40So which is really nice to hear her talking about, you know,
- 49:42Yeah, life and painting. You know, she trained up as a
- 49:44classical painter and then moved from that into toy painting sort
- 49:48of thing, but loves toy painting.
- 49:49So yeah, all really good stuff. Cool.
- 49:53And then after that we went for lunch.
- 49:59No, no, no session. Was there?
- 50:02Well, that was you then. Oh, you were with the?
- 50:04Net and yeah, that's when I then went to Oh yeah, of course you
- 50:09did the painting youth. So what was your session when,
- 50:12oh, you were doing the sculpting when?
- 50:14Yeah, yeah, yeah, So yeah. So then I, yeah, my session
- 50:18whilst you were with Cameron and Sherry was yeah, you did half of
- 50:24the time with Trevor Williams being shown about the lighting
- 50:30and half the time with Nate Barch showing you about the
- 50:34artwork and the packaging and. So.
- 50:37Yeah, again. Trevor Trevor gave an absolutely
- 50:39awesome demonstration of how to use blue lighting.
- 50:42It was just incredible top to toe.
- 50:44Everyone's suggesting other colours.
- 50:46He's like no blue blue. Blue all the way, guys.
- 50:49You know Trevor. Did an incredible demo he.
- 50:52Was super. He was such a good demon.
- 50:54Teasing him out. Rich is teasing.
- 50:58Richard Jones is teasing it. He had his camera set up, he had
- 51:02a diode there, he had a skeleton and a night fighting and he the
- 51:07smoke thing, the smoke machine. That smoke machine was.
- 51:11Incredible. I want for no good reason.
- 51:14It's like, it's like a, it's like a big vape almost.
- 51:18And you can use different modes. There's one where it squirts the
- 51:22smoke onto the floor and makes like a puddle of the smoke.
- 51:26Yeah, it's called like liquid ice mode or something.
- 51:28Isn't it a liquid ice? Everyone was just like, whoa.
- 51:31Quit smoke. Yeah.
- 51:33And what he what he tends to do is he'll get couple of different
- 51:38shots with the different kind of smoke and then he'll kind of
- 51:42composite them together a little bit with masking and Photoshop
- 51:46so that he gets the kind of smoke that he wants from the
- 51:49different shots because he can't do, you know, with the smoke.
- 51:53It's a little bit of luck in terms of how you get it him you
- 51:56can put it in and you know where you want it to go, but you have
- 51:59to kind of pick the best shots. And so that's how he puts them
- 52:01together. And he also showed us how to use
- 52:04bounce lighting, which Mal seems to want to do here for, you
- 52:08know. I'm just trying to give the room
- 52:09a good. Ambience in the in the room
- 52:11yeah, we're going to have like wall to wall bounce lighting
- 52:13here for the next one love it love it but.
- 52:16Yeah, and then Nate, I mean, Nate is just such a great.
- 52:19Place to hug you know he's so modest as well, though he's
- 52:22once. Once he figured out how to use
- 52:24the screen, which he took a bit of time, the session was amazing
- 52:28as it was last. Year, it's like, oh, you know,
- 52:31it's only shapes and colours. Yeah.
- 52:34It's like you're having a laugh on it.
- 52:35Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 52:36Have you seen the figure obscurial packaging you did on
- 52:39Frankenstein and he didn't go through that?
- 52:41Yeah, that and that was, I thought that for me was one of
- 52:44the bit that I was like, that's cool.
- 52:46So even where the window of the window box would go, he he
- 52:50draws, he fills it in, but he doesn't maybe complete it.
- 52:54But then he'd put a little Easter egg, as he called it,
- 52:57with the haggon face peering through the the gap in the the
- 53:02notes. Which was.
- 53:03Yeah, it was fun. Yeah, I think ours got cut short
- 53:06before that that, but I saw him show that to the next group when
- 53:09I was going between. Oh, he started with that for us.
- 53:12OK, Yeah. But he was he was really
- 53:14interesting because he was saying because he did, you know,
- 53:16packaging last year sort of thing.
- 53:18But he was saying, like for the the figure obscure, it takes him
- 53:21weeks to do 1 picture sometimes and there's like four in a box.
- 53:26So he's like, yeah, that one's easy, no problem at all.
- 53:28That one's pretty quick. And those two two weeks each,
- 53:30Yeah. And it's like, wow, OK, that's a
- 53:33lot of work. Yeah, because two of the
- 53:35pictures are proper, he said. Those are proper paintings, you
- 53:38know. Yeah, he said.
- 53:40He said in our session. He, he, he, he, he.
- 53:43He's the fight, the bit he finds most enjoyable.
- 53:47He's doing the more abstract patterns and shapes and you
- 53:50know, and maybe say he's got to do the Four Horsemen logo on top
- 53:54of those patterns. That's what he really enjoys and
- 53:57finds the most fun. But then yeah, I mean, he's
- 54:00obviously a fantastic artist anyway that can then go and do
- 54:04the more detailed. Drawings as well.
- 54:07Totally. Yeah.
- 54:07And. All round lovely human being,
- 54:10Yes, absolutely, yeah. The best of the best.
- 54:14And then we got pizza for lunch with wings, fries and big cooler
- 54:21full of coke and water and stuff like that.
- 54:25And you've got a lovely Americans salad.
- 54:27There's like they had a Caesar salad there.
- 54:29It's like loads of leaves. That's fine.
- 54:31And then the biggest croutons you've ever seen in your life
- 54:34covered in cheese and then massive, thick slices of
- 54:38Parmesan, good Parmesan. And then like a really heavy
- 54:42Caesar sauce and it was gorgeous.
- 54:44But it's like, that's so American compared to like Europe
- 54:46where it'd be like, no, it's healthy and it's this and it's
- 54:49that. And then it's like, no, we just,
- 54:51there you go. You might get a bit of a vinegar
- 54:53act on it. How are we still fat?
- 54:59That's all the burgers. I Yeah.
- 55:01I put a lot of vinegar out on my chip also maybe.
- 55:05We don't eat the salad. That's it.
- 55:09No, but it was a great, it was a great spread.
- 55:10It's great to get fed, you know. Yeah, of course it would.
- 55:14They couldn't have to, but they they really do it properly.
- 55:17So yeah. And I love the.
- 55:18I'm not sure it was a New Jersey thing necessarily, but the
- 55:21slices are so big and they're quite thin.
- 55:23Yeah. So you have to fold them in half
- 55:24to eat them sort of thing. And it's basically such an
- 55:27American thing. Yeah.
- 55:28It's. Just, and it's great way to and
- 55:29it was in the backroom of where the Armory was.
- 55:31So we kind of, we were sitting around on the floor beside the
- 55:35Armory. It kind of goes maybe.
- 55:39That's what that's again, and Angie said this in our session
- 55:43where we were doing the armouries by the point that we
- 55:46were quite, it was actually quite good to see it before we
- 55:50had to do it because at least you're prepared for, yes, what
- 55:53you're going to see and how you're going to do it, yeah.
- 55:56Although the surprise is nice too, but I mean you got the
- 55:58surprise in that you saw it then when you walked.
- 56:01Oh yeah, yeah. I mean, it's still a cool
- 56:02surprise. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:03And it just such a fun thing to. Do as we were told not to post
- 56:08any pictures from the Armory in the Cabal.
- 56:10So we we complied and we'll post a couple of pictures from what
- 56:14our experience in the Armory next week.
- 56:16Yes, yeah, one speech comes. So if you've seen any pictures
- 56:21from the Armory experience before the weekend, then they
- 56:25shouldn't have seen them basically.
- 56:27So Unsee them. Unsee them now, please.
- 56:32Well, it's fine now. This is like a week later.
- 56:33At the time of recording, we hope you once saw them.
- 56:39Yeah. So how was your You tell us your
- 56:41Army experience then? It just it's it's it's such it
- 56:49it's just so fun just picking the bit, singing.
- 56:53Oh, well, I've that bit. I don't agree with that bit and
- 56:56I'd already got two of my designs, so it so I got that
- 57:00they provided you with, as we've already said, a tray.
- 57:03And then I thought, oh, you know the way I'll do it then is
- 57:06because you get the plastic trays as well that form the
- 57:09front of the boxes usually. But the plastic slip of the
- 57:13boxes are laid all but I could only lay three of them out on
- 57:17the wooden wooden tray that we got.
- 57:20There was that was called tray. Yeah, yeah.
- 57:23They were acquired for the wooden and what I did was so I
- 57:27built it into the boxes. You know what?
- 57:29I built it. I picked the parts into each
- 57:31box, so I knew. And the last one, I kind of put
- 57:34some at the bottom and so the top.
- 57:35And yeah, he was just, I'd got to already decided I was
- 57:38exactly. And I've looked at them so many
- 57:40times and like, yeah, I love those builds.
- 57:43And yeah, as I was building, like look.
- 57:45Did you know the experience of seeing the parts then suddenly
- 57:48in person and going, oh, that's those older pollens look so
- 57:52good, like those valiant night shoulder forms in red.
- 57:56Yeah, I was going to get the whole the other ones and then I
- 57:58saw them and I was like, no, sorry, I have to check what I
- 58:01decided, but I'm I'm getting these that.
- 58:03Read through me because obviously in the pictures and
- 58:05this is not a Dick Trevor no, but in the pictures they were
- 58:08really quite vibrant Reds yeah and this this was more of a
- 58:11really rich is much. Better.
- 58:13Yeah, and really rich, but that threw me for a second.
- 58:16Look kind of sticky in, you know what I mean?
- 58:18That kind of glue, yeah. You know, almost like it was
- 58:20like blood. But there you go.
- 58:22Here's the work of people and me maybe is I'd argue the red was
- 58:26very much my favorite colour. But in terms of wanting builds,
- 58:30most of what I built were green. Yeah, because there was
- 58:35something about the green. It was a bit more, I don't know,
- 58:38it's unusual and you know, just happened to be I thought, well,
- 58:43so, so third the third, but I've got the two that figures that
- 58:49from our show that we we talked where we talked about what
- 58:53builds we would do. I used two of them that came up
- 58:55with third one. I then tried to do a sort of as
- 58:59close to the vulgus builder that you can't get anywhere close to
- 59:02it, but as close to as similar with the parts we had.
- 59:06And then the 4th 1 was just a load of parts, which one part of
- 59:10it was the green waste, the second part, the second green
- 59:15wastes to get the crotch piece. But then I went with the green
- 59:20cloth legs as well because that was I like the cloth part And
- 59:24that was the cloth part I hadn't already used besides the black.
- 59:27And I feel like we get a lot of black or we got a lot of black
- 59:31cloth parts at this point and we're getting them with Fisher
- 59:34rice. So I didn't I.
- 59:35Love the the torso though, I didn't get that black.
- 59:38Yeah, I must admit, yeah, I didn't get that, but it did look
- 59:41I did. So yeah.
- 59:45And the listeners will be absolutely staggered and amazed
- 59:48to hear this. But Mal changed his mind on
- 59:51something. We've got to the tail and.
- 59:53Went back and swapped. Yeah, yeah, I didn't.
- 59:58Hear this, This is good. Yeah, I ended up with settling
- 1:00:00here two of the same. It's only a quick one.
- 1:00:03I ended up with two of the same type of head.
- 1:00:06The the one that first came on the Relic guard was it?
- 1:00:13Bucket helmet. Yeah, the, you know, the brown
- 1:00:16tall one with the horns. It wasn't the rally guard, was
- 1:00:18it? Oh, the dark Templar.
- 1:00:20Dark Templar, So I had two of them.
- 1:00:22I had a green one and then the I went with the gun metal one
- 1:00:28because it looked quite cool with then these the white metal
- 1:00:31strip across in cross and must have got no idea what I'll use
- 1:00:35it for. It's just one of the coolest
- 1:00:36looking, especially that type of helmet.
- 1:00:40And I was like, well, and then I don't really then 1A green one
- 1:00:44of that as well. I'd rather have another type of
- 1:00:48helmet to get. So yeah, I just went back and I
- 1:00:51was there with my pile and went, Sam, one of the Arizona guys,
- 1:00:56you go in front. I need to go back.
- 1:01:00Actually, I threw a Mull under the bus, but I did swap
- 1:01:01something. About four hours after I did the
- 1:01:03thing, I suddenly realized I had a golden gourd and it was like,
- 1:01:10no, there's a bit more exciting, I thought.
- 1:01:12I swapped it for a golden duck. Of course, I mean, that's.
- 1:01:15That's the ducks are more fun accessory so.
- 1:01:17Gorge is the one I didn't get out of the four.
- 1:01:20Isn't there 5? There's five in total, yeah.
- 1:01:22Yeah, I got the Krampus brushes. The the fox or the puppy?
- 1:01:25Was it puppy? Yeah, it's a puppy.
- 1:01:27It's a fox. It looks like a.
- 1:01:28It looks. Like, it's been painted in both
- 1:01:30ways, doesn't it? It could be a.
- 1:01:31Fox a puppy, the the Peach and the duck.
- 1:01:35Well, I I totally went him be like, yeah, I'm going to get
- 1:01:38switch, might even get 4 switches.
- 1:01:40And then as I thought about it more and more talked to a couple
- 1:01:43of people. I was like all the other four
- 1:01:44things is much more fun. Yeah, it's just that the the
- 1:01:49branches are much, there's much more gold paint, so it's
- 1:01:52shinier. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:54If you're, if you're a hawk just collecting the gold stuff, it's
- 1:01:57like, well, I'm gonna just get four of them because there's
- 1:01:59more gold. And realistically, it's probably
- 1:02:01the most useful in terms of yeah, feels like it could be
- 1:02:05used as part of your character. Yeah, I don't currently have any
- 1:02:07custom plans for a gold duck. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:12So diesel gold. These would be little trinkets
- 1:02:14on my desk or. The duck may go to my daughter.
- 1:02:17In fairness, she's a big fan of ducks.
- 1:02:18Oh, there you go. To the point that she keeps
- 1:02:20demanding one's a pet and they're like, no, oh, we're
- 1:02:22getting a duck. No, no.
- 1:02:24But you need a pond out. Exactly.
- 1:02:25Yeah, we're not digging a massive pond in the garden
- 1:02:27etcetera for a duck now. Imagine what noise that's going
- 1:02:29to make you. Yeah.
- 1:02:30They're really messy birds. That was the gardeners.
- 1:02:33So bad there. Oh yeah, I used to play golf
- 1:02:36with this Chinese guy. He had a Chinese restaurant,
- 1:02:39ducks in between the 10th and the 11th old in the lake, and he
- 1:02:44would always go, oh, dinner. He was making a joke.
- 1:02:49I'm not sure you know, because I know duck is quite a popular
- 1:02:53dish, isn't? It I've always said I'd love a
- 1:02:55pet duck, except I'd feel really guilty when I was enjoying one
- 1:02:58of my favorite meats, which is duck.
- 1:03:01He would know that duck, that pet duck.
- 1:03:02Yeah, I cook in it. Similarly, I've been pushing
- 1:03:06really, really hard for about 8 or 9 years now for a micro pig.
- 1:03:10In fact for us, but I love bacon sandwiches.
- 1:03:14I would feel so guilty. Bacon sandwich.
- 1:03:17Little yeah, little Mr. Porky's running around that I'm eating
- 1:03:20one of his brethren. He's.
- 1:03:21Like, sorry, what's a micro pig, you know?
- 1:03:24And then like it's the smallest. Pig that gets to a tiny tiny
- 1:03:27full grown sauce if. It's not stinking and rolling
- 1:03:29around and no. They they make good house pairs.
- 1:03:32No. And they're teeny tiny.
- 1:03:35How much my mancoon with the micro?
- 1:03:37Pig, yeah, yeah. But yeah, these twin each which
- 1:03:41these pigs are a native. Mancoon would be pig.
- 1:03:43Yeah, yeah, I think they're. Native to India originally sort
- 1:03:46of thing. They are tiny, tiny little
- 1:03:48things that have, you know, just squashed me this little.
- 1:03:51And it's not, this is not some sort of genetic experiment.
- 1:03:53It's just I think. Initially when it first became a
- 1:03:57craze, a lot of people ended up with full size pigs, but now
- 1:04:00they've bred, you know it's properly.
- 1:04:01OK, so it's bread. Like that is a breeding thing.
- 1:04:04Yeah, so. But again, I like sausages, I
- 1:04:06like, I love bacon sandwiches. So I just I talk.
- 1:04:08Belly is one of my oh. Pork belly's amazing.
- 1:04:11Yeah. Pork cheek is delicious.
- 1:04:14Yeah, exactly. Yes.
- 1:04:18What? Was I going to call him Mr.
- 1:04:20Scratchings? Unfortunately won't.
- 1:04:22Won't be a pet. Oh my.
- 1:04:25God that is an amazing name. Scratchings.
- 1:04:29I'd like designed the like an enclosure.
- 1:04:32Kerry's like we're not getting a micro pick and I'm like, but
- 1:04:34I've drawn the enclosure. She's like, I don't care.
- 1:04:41Shall we we we could we can say this now, Rich, but you have
- 1:04:44done some prints for allegiance kind.
- 1:04:47Some prints yes, I have so anybody that's.
- 1:04:49Seen have happened by the time. Anyone that's seen my let's be,
- 1:04:54you know, brutally honest here or inspiring art on the live.
- 1:04:58Shows. I think that's a fair
- 1:05:00description. It's or SH1T is.
- 1:05:03Yeah, yeah, yeah. My daddy started it.
- 1:05:05I was people were like jokingly saying, oh, you should do the
- 1:05:08calendar, all this sort of stuff.
- 1:05:09And I did price it up and decided to know it's not worth
- 1:05:12it. But I did print out quite, I
- 1:05:15think 4/4 of each of 12 different of drawings of mine.
- 1:05:18So I'll cut them up and sign them and number them obviously,
- 1:05:21because I'm a professional and then they and they then they can
- 1:05:25be given out. You're not going to chat table
- 1:05:28for a lot of people. Be given that for it.
- 1:05:31I've also in our last live show we were joking about me drawing
- 1:05:35Kabal members and I've drawn 2 Kabal members so far and brought
- 1:05:40cards of those with me. So those two will have their own
- 1:05:42little unique card on them. I'm almost positive people know
- 1:05:46by the time this is released they'll have they'll have
- 1:05:48plastered them all over the cabal because they'll be so
- 1:05:50proud of them. They would be so proud they
- 1:05:53won't sell anything because they're just crying tears of
- 1:05:55joy. You know this amazing art piece
- 1:05:57that's been done off them? My stuff doesn't sell and
- 1:05:59everyone's talking about your bloody word shit document shit
- 1:06:06drawing. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:06:09Average so anyway. Averagely poor, not shit.
- 1:06:13Now, you did send me the two cabal members you've drawn.
- 1:06:16I did, yeah. And asked me each time to guess,
- 1:06:19and I guessed correctly both times, which they're pretty
- 1:06:22good. Some achievement.
- 1:06:24Because what you've basically done is you've made sure to
- 1:06:28accentuate the features that are identifiable.
- 1:06:30Basically every good cartoonist does.
- 1:06:32Yeah. So I I have to say I.
- 1:06:35I'm basically turning into a caricature office.
- 1:06:36This is what we're saying now. Yeah.
- 1:06:37I'm going to be like, you know, which is next year.
- 1:06:39Would you next year Allegiance con.
- 1:06:41Yeah, I would literally sat there with a like an easel,
- 1:06:43which I do and stuff to be. Evident.
- 1:06:44Oh, it's a Word document on the radio and.
- 1:06:48People in the queue. And the mouse.
- 1:06:51The mouse is not on a not on a hard table or a mouse pad.
- 1:06:54It's on a cushion. Yeah, like, really.
- 1:06:56Bad traction. On the floor of the con just.
- 1:07:01Constantly slipping and going off the page and there's all
- 1:07:04these weird Marks and say the patients like, well, I got to
- 1:07:07raise, leave them there. If people pay me $50 a time,
- 1:07:10I'll do it. Yeah.
- 1:07:12And and we could say that that it's Curtis and Noah, it is
- 1:07:15Curtis. And Noah, Yes, because it's one
- 1:07:17of them. It will be plastered.
- 1:07:18All over there. Exactly.
- 1:07:19Yeah. Probably.
- 1:07:20If you look at Curtis and Noah's Facebook profiles right now,
- 1:07:23they're. Probably, yeah.
- 1:07:25I bet any money that it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:31It's a bit sad, but I'm really quite proud of the Noah one
- 1:07:33because like that looks like Noah.
- 1:07:35I lied. You've captured.
- 1:07:37Something in his face. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:07:38Yeah, sure. Yeah, so sadness and
- 1:07:41disappointment, probably from pitch.
- 1:07:46I'm expecting a big reaction from the two of them and then in
- 1:07:48just to tear it up when I've walked away.
- 1:07:51Oh, I'm recording then, you know, we need to get that for
- 1:07:55for our Instagram story or whatever.
- 1:07:59Yeah. So that was the intern.
- 1:08:01Oh, we had Jim's tour as well, that.
- 1:08:02Yeah, that was super. I Yeah, very.
- 1:08:05Good. This was one of the it's
- 1:08:07definitely the highlight of the day for me apart from the Armory
- 1:08:11because and OK, the treadway sculptic.
- 1:08:13OK, it was all you know, I can't make fun.
- 1:08:16I'm all on this one. I'm on the end.
- 1:08:17Yeah, but. So it's middle, middle.
- 1:08:20Just to get just to get a guy that has done everything, he's
- 1:08:25pretty much at retirement age. Jim you wouldn't know it because
- 1:08:29he is a good looking, well kept. Man, he's a sprightly man.
- 1:08:35With beautiful hair and speaking to someone whose hairline has
- 1:08:39shockingly kind of gone backwards on his head in the
- 1:08:43last year. I don't know what's happening
- 1:08:45here and I'm not getting to your level yet, but I'm definitely
- 1:08:49dialing back. I'm definitely dialing back my
- 1:08:51jokes on on the podcast in regard to this subject because I
- 1:08:56think this is what's happened. I'm getting some karma.
- 1:08:59You guys saw the picture that I sent into the week when I was on
- 1:09:01holiday of my daughter. His hair dripped over my head.
- 1:09:03I'm changing that to my Facebook.
- 1:09:06And I actually had Turkey, I said to Mal actually this
- 1:09:10afternoon, I said I finally actually noticed your scar that.
- 1:09:14Yeah, it's a it's a good one. Isn't it?
- 1:09:16But it's quite well done, like it's quite, it's not.
- 1:09:20It's not ugly like when you show when you sent us the picture.
- 1:09:23Not as ugly as the front to your face.
- 1:09:24Exactly. No hope with that.
- 1:09:27It's not, it's not. It's not like the horror show
- 1:09:30you sent us when you had. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:32That we couldn't even publish because it's like, I won't
- 1:09:35expand. It's like I share that you see
- 1:09:37today, Oh, Nate strong and is I was chatting to them and I went
- 1:09:41to show them that picture and the two were like no.
- 1:09:43No. So don't show is that.
- 1:09:47Speaking of is so I was I was kind of in the when you're going
- 1:09:50around Jim's tour, you're kind of in a it's almost like a train
- 1:09:53of people and no, stop it, man. So you know because.
- 1:09:59Even sent. Lots of narrow corridors to kind
- 1:10:02of get up to places. So, so I was with is and I think
- 1:10:06Rich was in front and. Yeah, I was fairly close to you
- 1:10:09guys, yeah. As we were having a good bit of,
- 1:10:11you know, banter and slagging or whatever, you know, is is a lot
- 1:10:15of and, and he's done it 100 times before because he's kind
- 1:10:19of a Red Fred Studios. Yeah, has a has a tribute figure
- 1:10:24that. Many years ago in the cabinet at
- 1:10:26the front is Ramirez and. I sold one of those to David
- 1:10:30Williams last year, who then gifted it to his SO.
- 1:10:32Yeah, very cool. The circle you could have just
- 1:10:34cut out the middleman there and gifted it to is yourself.
- 1:10:37A grief now. The first bit of Jim's tour we
- 1:10:40got, we got to see where they're kind of doing a lot of the heavy
- 1:10:43work for Legions Khan, the statues and all that.
- 1:10:47Didn't see any statues or any teases.
- 1:10:49They actually were putting together the ox crew wave for
- 1:10:52the display cabinet and actually asked her still the prototypes
- 1:10:55and I'd seen them in the cabinet last year, but they were just on
- 1:10:59the table and you could go up within a couple of centimeters
- 1:11:01of them and really look at them like or Virus Green and it's
- 1:11:05just and paint haven't painted a lot of cosmic heads this year.
- 1:11:09I just love great and the armor on those.
- 1:11:13The space armor is fantastic. Potential of that space armor.
- 1:11:18It's it's yet another one that when you see it in person, Yeah,
- 1:11:21it the photo, with the utmost respect to Trevor, as good as
- 1:11:25these photos, you can't do it. Yeah, it doesn't capture just
- 1:11:29how good. It's not.
- 1:11:30It's not that the photos don't do justice.
- 1:11:31The voters do as much justice as they can.
- 1:11:34Yes, yeah. Yeah, they just.
- 1:11:36Your eyes are better. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:39And so and then he brought us all around the shop and it's
- 1:11:42just. I can't go through the whole
- 1:11:43thing because you should try and get the intern one day.
- 1:11:46If you're listening to this just even for Jim's tour, because
- 1:11:50it's just like it's we've we all have various jobs or we've had
- 1:11:56jobs over the years, you know, sitting in an office at a desk.
- 1:12:00There's some work going on here. There's people at desks like,
- 1:12:03you know, back in it's like back to the future.
- 1:12:05It looks in some parts, it looks like in the if you know, Harry
- 1:12:08Potter, the room of requirement seen in one of the last movies
- 1:12:11where like it's just all everything you need is that's
- 1:12:14why it's called the room requirement.
- 1:12:16This is like literally everything you need in the room.
- 1:12:18There's all sorts of stuff, and there was boxes labeled then at
- 1:12:21the end versus just like a handgun.
- 1:12:23These are all props. Yes, handguns, semi automatic
- 1:12:26piss. Yeah.
- 1:12:27And then is what's going on. This is just a Walmart shelf.
- 1:12:31I got annoyed at one point when there's a bottleneck and we
- 1:12:33stopped and we were right from the wig section.
- 1:12:35Come on, come on, I take a picture of that.
- 1:12:38Nah. Not with you in it though.
- 1:12:41I was joking with somebody the way it's set up because it's,
- 1:12:45it's a little bit dusty and it's very much an old warehouse.
- 1:12:48I mean, it would never pass health and safety in Europe.
- 1:12:49They'd close it down instantly. But a bit more relaxed here.
- 1:12:53But with all these old props and that sort of stuff.
- 1:12:55I said something, it's like, this is the sort of place you
- 1:12:56get chased through in a zombie movie.
- 1:12:58It's like, you know, and you're throwing old tellies out of them
- 1:13:01and they're sort of trying to say.
- 1:13:02I'll tell you. Oh, it's, I'd love to work there
- 1:13:05just like they. They had a tagging system where,
- 1:13:08you know, and it made me think of you and spreadsheets, to be
- 1:13:11honest, that they had to tag with a bar, a barcode on that
- 1:13:16had a number. So it told them they scanned it
- 1:13:19or went looking for it exactly where it would be in the
- 1:13:22warehouse. And it's like, I want to work
- 1:13:24here. That'd be so fun.
- 1:13:25Like getting a pick list for what you have to go and find.
- 1:13:29And I mean, it's like working at a shop, but much more fun stuff
- 1:13:32that you're that you find it. Yeah, it'd be so fun.
- 1:13:37But obviously I do have like that interesting movies and
- 1:13:39things. So seeing all that stuff, it's
- 1:13:42like, yeah, it's amazing. It's love it.
- 1:13:45I love it. And we've got this giant robot
- 1:13:49that cuts and shapes and Jim was showing us and it was, it was
- 1:13:53polystyrene, like really heavy set polystyrene.
- 1:13:55They're cut in this year, but last year they were doing wood.
- 1:13:58So this thing does everything is literally, you put it in there
- 1:14:00and it'll sculpt these massive sculptures out of anything at
- 1:14:03all. Really incredible thing.
- 1:14:07Yeah, absolutely. And wasn't there?
- 1:14:08Yeah, there was this. Is that the same machine that he
- 1:14:11said could if if if you didn't know how to operate it, you
- 1:14:15could actually destroy it? Destroy it.
- 1:14:16Yeah, it would just. It would just laser through
- 1:14:18itself. Oh, really?
- 1:14:19Yeah, Yeah, yeah. It's like the one has comes a
- 1:14:21foam as well, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:22So there has to be somebody starting to booth, basically
- 1:14:24monitoring. Here and inside the door, like
- 1:14:27about a meter inside the door, there's like a laser beam going
- 1:14:30across. And if you if you break that
- 1:14:31laser beam, the machine just cuts out like for safety.
- 1:14:35Yeah, yeah, it's like so dangerous.
- 1:14:37And, and behind the glass Pyrex, like if you've ever gone for an
- 1:14:41X-ray or an MRI scan, there's like someone with two big
- 1:14:43screens and like upgrading the machine, it's like that.
- 1:14:46Wow, it's like proper. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:48But this company, there's all the stuff for Saturday Night
- 1:14:50Live and all that, so it's really professional and really
- 1:14:53well done. And like, there's a lot of Apple
- 1:14:55TV shows like Severance, they did all the props.
- 1:14:57Yes. I think Severance was filmed
- 1:14:59quite close to Jersey somewhere in some old disused office
- 1:15:06complex or industrial estate. So yeah, but just an experience.
- 1:15:12And I had a great little chat with Jim afterwards because he
- 1:15:14was interested about like, oh, you came from, you know, he, he
- 1:15:17knows the show, you know, and he said, he said like, where do you
- 1:15:21come from? And then we got talking about
- 1:15:23that. And then just but the whole
- 1:15:25thing. And he's like, yeah, I'm just
- 1:15:26like, you know, if I think about it too much, you know, this guy
- 1:15:29from Luxembourg coming over here, these British guys are
- 1:15:32coming over here. And I'm like, yeah, he's like,
- 1:15:34it's, it's going pretty well for us.
- 1:15:38But there you go. Then part of that, and the
- 1:15:41reason that occurs is because they're doing things like intern
- 1:15:45for a day and yeah, how amazing that, you know, that's a.
- 1:15:48Full on thing for them, you know?
- 1:15:50Yeah, imagine the amount of organization went into it to
- 1:15:54run. It ran really smoothly.
- 1:15:56There was like it, you know, it's like trying to herd 100
- 1:16:00geese around the field, you know, for, you know.
- 1:16:02And they're also doing it at the very time they desperately
- 1:16:05trying to complete a major thing for G Com and at the same time
- 1:16:08not let you see any of it. And all the stuff's in there
- 1:16:10somewhere. Yeah.
- 1:16:11And they still managed to put it away.
- 1:16:12The big scene they do a really good job of hiding is those
- 1:16:16reversible walls that suddenly flip around as you walk through.
- 1:16:19And there's just, you know, Bill just painting and putting
- 1:16:22together figures. Actually, what he was doing
- 1:16:24prior to that was. Gluing to you.
- 1:16:27But John, you, you missed the best bit of the gym walkthrough.
- 1:16:29And that was when we saw what Bill Mccuso and Brad, not Brad.
- 1:16:34Brad. And they do all the dial work
- 1:16:36now for for Four Horsemen Studios.
- 1:16:39And, you know, we're recording this the night before Gcon, so I
- 1:16:41could be completely wrong. But they had what looked
- 1:16:44suspiciously like a lizard band temple that was up and ready.
- 1:16:48Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:50And. For Gcon and I was just like,
- 1:16:52open. Now there's like, Oh my
- 1:16:54goodness. Well, Aztec sort of style
- 1:16:56wouldn't be. Yeah.
- 1:16:57So which is exactly the issue. You have gotten to be all these
- 1:17:01men. Yeah.
- 1:17:01Yeah. Which is quite goth hammering
- 1:17:04style, isn't it? But that's what you like, isn't
- 1:17:07it? I mean, they.
- 1:17:08It's a cool. It's a theme for that.
- 1:17:10Yeah. Absolutely.
- 1:17:11Yeah. Well, and I can't.
- 1:17:13I think it was easy. He said it to me, but somebody
- 1:17:15said it to me. It's like the Chocolate Factory
- 1:17:18visiting the Chocolate Factory and and it is, I said it, I
- 1:17:21repeated that to Jeremy, like later in the day, asked me how
- 1:17:24it was going. I was like, it is, it's it's
- 1:17:26like visiting the Chocolate Factory in in Willy Wonka.
- 1:17:30Yeah. And I mean, he did then say
- 1:17:32that's what we need to do. We need to make we need to make
- 1:17:36chocolates. So then, so here you heard it
- 1:17:39here first, everyone. Was it MO to Joe was handing out
- 1:17:44these little plastic? Yes, Inter.
- 1:17:47For day colour changing, yeah. Yeah, I poured my Coke into it
- 1:17:51and the Coke was ice cold and it obviously chains on changes I
- 1:17:55didn't know was colour change. I started to go bright red and I
- 1:17:58thought I'd got cherry Coke or something.
- 1:18:00Yeah. And you know, I mean, I'm in a
- 1:18:01foreign land so I'm like, I don't know what like.
- 1:18:04And I usually drink the Coke out of the can here, so, you know.
- 1:18:08And then it was like, and it was just a glass because then when I
- 1:18:10put my hand on it, it starts to warm up and went away again.
- 1:18:13I was like, ah, dummy. Yeah, OK.
- 1:18:15It's all little things. It's like everybody got a bin
- 1:18:18turn. Yeah.
- 1:18:19I mean, they don't have to do that.
- 1:18:22And just talking about the sort of thing we were sat there, was
- 1:18:25it lunchtime or the end of the day?
- 1:18:27No, it was lunchtime, wasn't it? And everyone from the studio sat
- 1:18:31in there having their lunch as well, or not sat.
- 1:18:32They're busy, aren't they? They're doing a lot whilst
- 1:18:34trying to eat and do other things.
- 1:18:36And it is literally everyone, the owners, the marketing
- 1:18:41manager, Jeremy Gerard, everyone knows.
- 1:18:43But then people like Bill Mancuso were in there as well.
- 1:18:47Diego's in there, you know, just the sales side of things.
- 1:18:53Joe Vasapolo who does all sorts of stuff at the studio, all in
- 1:18:58there as well whilst people are eating.
- 1:18:59And it's like what other organization does this?
- 1:19:02They might have conferences and conventions, but they're not
- 1:19:06like sat there whilst sitting around, you know?
- 1:19:10Treated almost like family, yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:11And you're not obviously. And it's a business and we will
- 1:19:14get that. But they but they don't need to
- 1:19:16do intern. There's no no financial benefit
- 1:19:18for them doing it, but they just do it because they love doing.
- 1:19:21It but it also makes it all better you know and like various
- 1:19:26people will will experience it over the years.
- 1:19:29I I would love to do it again, yes, but I also would be just so
- 1:19:36happy for other people if they got.
- 1:19:37To do it, yeah, yeah. You know, I would, I would do it
- 1:19:40again in the scenario that there's enough space for us and
- 1:19:43the kind of most people that have got in cut in and.
- 1:19:45How I'm going to enter Wild Tree next year, yeah.
- 1:19:47The lottery is, is a thing, but you know, I, I want people, if
- 1:19:52they can't experience it, to get into, you know, because I'd love
- 1:19:55to talk to them about it. I'd love to, you know.
- 1:20:00Yeah, yeah. You don't want it to be like
- 1:20:02this exclusive club of people that have gotten to do it.
- 1:20:05You want everyone who wants to try and do it.
- 1:20:10Absolutely. When they, when they fall down.
- 1:20:12Yeah. When they called out the interns
- 1:20:14who'd paid to go along at the end of the day for the bust, I
- 1:20:19only recognised a couple of people.
- 1:20:20Yeah. So, you know, you know, it's a
- 1:20:22bigger circle of people when, you know, out of the 30 people
- 1:20:25they call up, you know, I know two of those, yes, it was great
- 1:20:28see new people getting that. Involved.
- 1:20:32That's it. And then we got our we got our
- 1:20:34orders and afterwards we got cookies.
- 1:20:38Oh. My God, they were loved.
- 1:20:40Those are good crazy cookies, yeah.
- 1:20:42We got another, another probably shouldn't have had a can of coke
- 1:20:46with the cookies. That was a little bit, but I
- 1:20:47kind of needed to pick me up. You know, that was the, you
- 1:20:50know, step date because it was roast roasted, not day.
- 1:20:52And in that room where the where the Armory was, there's a whole
- 1:20:56glass window on the side and the wind that sun was.
- 1:20:59Gone. Yeah.
- 1:21:01And I still have my hoodie on in the morning when we went in
- 1:21:04there first because it was, it was chilly outside.
- 1:21:07And after 5 minutes in there, somebody's like, how do you let
- 1:21:09that hoodie on? And I was like, yeah, you're
- 1:21:11probably right. Chilly outside, God.
- 1:21:14I mean chilly, like it was not cold, but it was like you could.
- 1:21:18You could. You are a hoodie on, Yeah.
- 1:21:20I'm a comfort. Creature, you know, So yeah,
- 1:21:21yeah. So.
- 1:21:25But no, truly amazing. I mean, obviously I did it last
- 1:21:27year, so there wasn't the deer in the headlight.
- 1:21:31Yeah, See, I've gone American, not rabbit in the headlight,
- 1:21:33Deer in the headlight moment for me this year.
- 1:21:35And I was able to take more in and I think that was really
- 1:21:38good. It was like, you know, some of
- 1:21:39the stuff was exactly the same as last year, but even Jim's
- 1:21:42toured it a couple of different bits to last year.
- 1:21:45And Trevor's thing was quite different to what he did last
- 1:21:48year. And, you know, I was just able
- 1:21:50to take in a bit more this year because I wasn't trying to.
- 1:21:52I've got to see everything. I've got to see everything
- 1:21:53because I know I'm going to focus in on the stuff.
- 1:21:55Oh yeah, yeah, I want to get to. Something Pap should have said
- 1:21:58when we started talking about it was, yeah, those 1st 2:00 rooms
- 1:22:01that you go into, it's a bit more inspiring, isn't?
- 1:22:04It and you know, Oh yeah, the the little entryway.
- 1:22:07And yeah, so you are kind of, there's so many things to look
- 1:22:11at. Yeah, because last year you go,
- 1:22:13you go through the entryway and there's the the, the things on
- 1:22:15each side. And then we turned towards where
- 1:22:18the food was and just on the right there was the full size
- 1:22:21bollock thigh car there. And everyone's like, Oh my God,
- 1:22:24I can't cope with this. It's just too much.
- 1:22:27Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's a point where you.
- 1:22:31Yeah, that's for after the podcast, but yeah, so.
- 1:22:36After that, then we basically got the lift back from Chris
- 1:22:41after we got all our stuff. Smallest order, last mile.
- 1:22:45Not quite last, but close. To the last of the.
- 1:22:47Four of us. Yeah, over.
- 1:22:48Yeah, over. Five of us in our little group,
- 1:22:50Yeah, yeah. And yeah.
- 1:22:52And then through Jersey traffic, which was grand.
- 1:22:56Lots of good chats. I mean, we had great chats,
- 1:22:57yeah. But it's really, yeah.
- 1:22:59Chris and Cat are great. Sort of, yeah.
- 1:23:01Good chats without. And they're really interested in
- 1:23:03where we're from. And obviously we're interested
- 1:23:05in. Yeah, you know.
- 1:23:08We're just those New Jersey roads that were an experience.
- 1:23:10Oh, man, yeah, it was why? What a legend.
- 1:23:13Because he just, he drove like a local.
- 1:23:15And to be honest, like I know, I know from doing a lot of driving
- 1:23:19that like it's not easy sometimes to just drive in
- 1:23:21place. You don't know He was zipping
- 1:23:23around? No problem, you know.
- 1:23:26And the best thing about all of it is there's even more to come.
- 1:23:31That's just day one. Just day one, tomorrow's G Con
- 1:23:34and they have like Jim was hyping it up for me.
- 1:23:37Jim is like the most level headed man, you know, Absolutely
- 1:23:40he is. He is literally, you know, keep
- 1:23:42it calm guys. You know, kind of you know, we
- 1:23:44got fun. We try to do this thing.
- 1:23:46Yeah. You know, he's like you guys
- 1:23:47won't know what you're saying. You don't know what I've hit you
- 1:23:51all the. Yes.
- 1:23:52He was just like, we've never revealed this much stuff before.
- 1:23:55And you're like, Oh my God. Oh my God.
- 1:23:57Yeah, yeah. So the next time you hear from
- 1:24:00us, whether it be on an addendum to this episode or whether we'll
- 1:24:04do do kind of follow up or whatever it will be after the
- 1:24:09reveals. Oh yeah, we'll we'll do all
- 1:24:13that. I don't know if we'll do like we
- 1:24:15did last year with the boys and do a live, but even if we can't,
- 1:24:19we'll do a record something, a reaction.
- 1:24:23I'm going to try and do a lot of little small interviews with
- 1:24:27people at the Common. Yeah, I want to do some of those
- 1:24:30stingers of you know. Hi, I'm Eric Treadway.
- 1:24:34And you're listening to three-year?
- 1:24:35Relations, but you gotta get. It'll be amazing.
- 1:24:38Oh, well, I've broken the ice with Jim now they're a little
- 1:24:40chat that, you know, I think he, he'll entertain my bullshit now,
- 1:24:44you know, I didn't want to put it in his face, you know,
- 1:24:46Studio. That would have seemed rude, you
- 1:24:48know? Yeah.
- 1:24:49And I'd like to apologise in advance because if they show a
- 1:24:51lizard man tomorrow at the reveal, there's a good chance
- 1:24:53I'll be drunk. You'll be I'll be insufferable
- 1:24:55and I'll be drunk. He was, yeah, absolutely,
- 1:25:03absolutely incredible. So I don't know.
- 1:25:07We'll see what happens. Yeah, it's.
- 1:25:10So. Exciting.
- 1:25:11It's so exciting. It's like, you know, GCON is
- 1:25:13always great, but this year is going to be insane.
- 1:25:15And then there's still the whole 2 days of allegiance on left.
- 1:25:18You know what, maybe just take acknowledge this to actually all
- 1:25:22four, three of us just be together in the same place.
- 1:25:25Yeah. And actually in the same room.
- 1:25:26Yeah, yeah. That's awesome.
- 1:25:28This morning, like Mal was such like this a nice man is he woke
- 1:25:32up early. He tuned out of the room like a
- 1:25:34mess because I was kind of half wake so that he didn't disturb
- 1:25:37you, especially Rich because you hadn't kind of thing.
- 1:25:40And then I kind of an hour later decided, yeah, I need to get
- 1:25:43vertical and kind of go around about about almost 7:00 AM.
- 1:25:47So then I got out of the room. And then by the time we got back
- 1:25:50up before 8, you were kind of in the shower and.
- 1:25:52I was singing my heart, you know, wasn't.
- 1:25:55I had left my toiletry bag in the in the with my old man pills
- 1:26:01in the in the bathroom and I was like, no, I can't go in and get
- 1:26:06the the first time I see rich because I was asleep when he
- 1:26:08arrived last night. I can't see him book naked in
- 1:26:10the shower. So, you know, rubbing.
- 1:26:13Rubbing his ass on the shower and then he.
- 1:26:14Scream And then he came out with the towel around him and I was
- 1:26:17like, Rich, I want to give you a hug, but let's wait till you're
- 1:26:19dressed. In my defence, I was wearing
- 1:26:21shorts. Oh, it was shorts, Yeah.
- 1:26:23It was shorts, Yeah. No, I had.
- 1:26:24Made those shorts I had made a lot of high rich.
- 1:26:26I'm here. I'm here.
- 1:26:27Hi. How are you?
- 1:26:28Great to see you. Before he came out so that,
- 1:26:31yeah, he wasn't coming out swinging and dangling, you know?
- 1:26:35Meanwhile I rushed back to try and see him naked and I was
- 1:26:38sorry. There's three days left, dude.
- 1:26:40It was brilliant. I keep we.
- 1:26:42Keep you we keep you posted on people watching.
- 1:26:46All right, guys, I think it's time to to get ready for the
- 1:26:49evenings shenanigans. Yeah, there are people who want
- 1:26:52to see us, are there? I won't go that far.
- 1:26:55There's people downstairs. There's Pete Mccratch.
- 1:26:58Where the hell are you guys? Trying to make it sound popular.
- 1:27:02All right, we're going to Pete. Enough of that.
- 1:27:04Cheers everybody. This is Chris James, and you're
- 1:27:07listening to the Euro Legions podcast.
- 1:27:12It's the morning of Legions call.
- 1:27:13I'm here at Richard Jones. There's a room where we might
- 1:27:16get a snake man. What do you think?
- 1:27:19If we do, yeah, Celebi, we're not that bothered.
- 1:27:21It's lizards you're after, right?
- 1:27:24No, it's still good. If it's a snake, I will be so
- 1:27:26excited. It'll be just ridiculous.
- 1:27:28I'm expecting it and we're running around squealing,
- 1:27:31pushing old women and kids out of the way to get first to the
- 1:27:33queue. It's going to be mayhem.
- 1:27:36Yeah. And you know, I suppose I'm
- 1:27:38going to be telling people that if they do manage to get in the
- 1:27:40queue, get to come to our table, sell.
- 1:27:42Won't get your money back by selling wonder.
- 1:27:44Rich Yeah, yeah, yeah. Basically, you know, you want to
- 1:27:47throw on the tables, go and get me a snake, man.
- 1:27:49Bring it back. We'll swap.
- 1:27:50All good all. Right.
- 1:27:52Well, further. Updates when it happens, and if
- 1:27:55it doesn't happen, you'll never hear this.
- 1:27:57This is the amazing and you're listening to your Allegiance
- 1:28:00podcast. Be good, do good, drink your
- 1:28:02water later. We're back, we're on the con
- 1:28:05floor and there's a bloody snake man on the courseman table.
- 1:28:10Yeah, I've just, I've been basically unconscious on the
- 1:28:12floor for the last hour. It's so good.
- 1:28:16Well, but while it's just sobbing in advance for.
- 1:28:18Later it is there's. Going to be a lot of snake men
- 1:28:20travelling back to the UK it has to be said.
- 1:28:22And the legend Brett already dropped one over.
- 1:28:25He did. He was pretty much first in the
- 1:28:26queue because he's one of these lunatics that queues up at 4:00
- 1:28:28AM to to get, yeah, she just brought one over, just gave it
- 1:28:31to me. And the man is just a legend.
- 1:28:32Payment. Didn't ask payment.
- 1:28:33Oh man, he's a legend. So yeah.
- 1:28:36And yeah, it's pretty steady this morning that the line for
- 1:28:39the Horsemen is insane, which is affecting the flow here, but
- 1:28:42it's flowing a bit now again. So hopefully we get a few more
- 1:28:45sales and keep, you know, need to replenish the funds for those
- 1:28:49snakes. Exactly.
- 1:28:50Yeah, they don't buy themselves. And for more stuff to paint for
- 1:28:53next year. But I need to sell a bit more so
- 1:28:55that I'm actually have the motivation to paint some more.
- 1:29:00You're doing OK, dude. You're doing OK.
- 1:29:02Yeah. All right.
- 1:29:03Well. Let's see how it goes for the
- 1:29:05rest of. The day.
- 1:29:05Oh yeah. This is your bro Joe, and you're
- 1:29:09listening to the Euro Legions Podcast.
- 1:29:13So, Noah, how's today been? Today has been pretty great,
- 1:29:16John, how about you? Yeah, day one legions come in
- 1:29:18the books. I don't think of any feet left,
- 1:29:20but you know. Yeah, I, I started the day with,
- 1:29:24with two feet and now I don't have any.
- 1:29:26So I, I feel like I could, I, I could be like a three foot
- 1:29:31dragon if I had two more, three more feet.
- 1:29:34Yeah, you've, you used to have feet, now you have a seat.
- 1:29:36Yeah, Rich had to go up for 20 minutes because he got swollen
- 1:29:39cankles. Oh no, had to go up and lie
- 1:29:41down. Is he playing with the snake
- 1:29:43man? Is that what he's?
- 1:29:45Accumulating them. Brett Stoddard brought him one
- 1:29:48this morning. You know, because Brett is a
- 1:29:50legend. And yeah, Rich has been in once
- 1:29:52or twice since. You know what not enough people
- 1:29:55talk about Brett Starter's generosity.
- 1:29:58Yeah, there's a lot of generosity in this room, let's
- 1:29:59be honest. He's a good man.
- 1:30:02He's a good man. So what's the plan for tomorrow?
- 1:30:04Tomorrow I am going to I, I, I've, I've sold through a a
- 1:30:09large portion of what I brought tomorrow.
- 1:30:12And humble brag. Everything, it just means that I
- 1:30:15didn't bring very, I didn't bring very much, but so
- 1:30:20everything that I have is is going to be on the table and
- 1:30:23yeah, it's just going to be what it is.
- 1:30:25Awesome. We're going to have fun
- 1:30:26tomorrow. Today was more like I was the
- 1:30:28the big rush, what I was expecting.
- 1:30:30And then tomorrow I'm, I'm hoping that things are, yeah,
- 1:30:32more chill and relax and we can focus on just talking to people.
- 1:30:36Yeah, I need to get around to the other vendors tables.
- 1:30:38I mean, I've, I've been to a few like people that had a couple
- 1:30:42pins and stuff, Eric's pins, stuff like that, you know, the
- 1:30:46Trevor's calendar, that kind of stuff, stuff you just want to
- 1:30:48get. But yeah, yeah, I just want to
- 1:30:50go around and see what the vendors have and restock my 2D
- 1:30:54parts collection for next year. Likewise, Yeah.
- 1:30:58And Speaking of that, it was funny because as I was getting
- 1:31:00ready this year, like just, you know, last week or whatever, I,
- 1:31:05I was looking, looking for some pins that I had that I had
- 1:31:08bought last year and I found like a like a horde of 3D
- 1:31:12printed parts that I had must have stashed and, and didn't.
- 1:31:15Nice, yeah. So I was, I was like, oh, well,
- 1:31:18I guess I could paint those. That's sweet.
- 1:31:22Yeah, it's pretty cool. So are you going to the my wife
- 1:31:24is going to kill me show? Yes, but I think I'm going to,
- 1:31:26I'm going to try to squeeze in a little nap maybe.
- 1:31:29Before me too. Maybe in the shower.
- 1:31:31Yeah, Wash off the con. That's a good call, all right.
- 1:31:35Let's catch up tomorrow. All right, John.
- 1:31:37Cheers, buddy. Thanks buddy.
- 1:31:45In the Year of the Dwarf. So Rich Sunday at Legions Con.
- 1:31:50I'm knackered, well and truly shattered, but.
- 1:31:54You know it's. It's east off a little bit now,
- 1:31:56but this morning was fairly busy.
- 1:31:57Yeah, did some good sales. Somebody took an Atlas off my
- 1:32:02hands, so I'll be forever grateful to that man.
- 1:32:05Get that piece of filth out of my collection.
- 1:32:07So that was grand. I like it and we still haven't
- 1:32:11got the person to come and get the bear yet.
- 1:32:13No, that's coming home with me at this rate.
- 1:32:16I don't have room in my case and that don't you do.
- 1:32:19To be honest, the guy that bought Atlas off me was looking
- 1:32:21to buy it. So if we if the person doesn't
- 1:32:24come and collect it, then we, yeah.
- 1:32:26Yeah. We have to redraw, though, to be
- 1:32:28fair to everybody else. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:32:30Yeah. Point where we have to just
- 1:32:31start drawing cards until it hits.
- 1:32:35Yeah, that's hard to get more traffic to the table.
- 1:32:37But yeah, we'll see after. But a Sunday seems a little bit
- 1:32:40quieter this year. And I mean, I've been walking
- 1:32:42around, don't know it. Definitely much quieter than
- 1:32:46last year. Yeah, I mean, last year it was
- 1:32:48quietish for the vendors, but horsemen were busy.
- 1:32:50But now here's more quiet as well, so.
- 1:32:53Here's Greg. Who are you dressed up as, Greg?
- 1:32:56I'm the Lord of the Armory. Oh nice, is that a new title?
- 1:33:00Or. It's a very new title, right?
- 1:33:01For starting today. OK, when I got crowned with my
- 1:33:06Armory crown. Nice.
- 1:33:07It's a nice paper crown and a very cool Cape with the capus.
- 1:33:12Wow, it's got the swords or the horseman logo on the back like
- 1:33:16the one from Echidon. Awesome.
- 1:33:19So yeah, are you finding it quieter today?
- 1:33:23Much quieter. Yeah, I'm able to.
- 1:33:26Remember to mingle. Come out and spend some more
- 1:33:28money. Yeah.
- 1:33:28Yeah, I still managed to spend more than I thought I would
- 1:33:31being trapped in the Armory. Yeah.
- 1:33:34So I'm kind of glad I was there. Was did you manage to get a few
- 1:33:37figs? From the Armory for yourself?
- 1:33:38No, no. I had somebody buy me something
- 1:33:41because things were selling out really quick.
- 1:33:44Yeah, that black leather. Is the black leather, I missed
- 1:33:46the last one, Yeah. And then a green.
- 1:33:49The green leather was a second. And I managed to have somebody
- 1:33:52grab a set for me. Holy smokes.
- 1:33:54Because I didn't want to miss out on that.
- 1:33:55Yeah, I got the green one, but I missed the black and I went back
- 1:33:58yesterday. Gone and the vendor.
- 1:34:00Went quick. Gone.
- 1:34:01Yeah, I thought they were. I thought they were joking with
- 1:34:04me because I've been going on and on about it, but actually
- 1:34:06it's probably half my fault for telling everybody to go and get
- 1:34:09one. But here we are, you know?
- 1:34:12You know, but everyone was. Talking How's the show for you
- 1:34:14guys? It's good.
- 1:34:15Yeah, it's been kind of ups and downs, but yeah, things have a
- 1:34:18lot of things have sold, been steady yesterday.
- 1:34:22Today it's been more kind of bursts.
- 1:34:23Yeah, I wonder if this wigs thing took a lot of people
- 1:34:26upstairs and now they're going to come back.
- 1:34:28That's also. That's also.
- 1:34:29OK. Yeah, for sure, but.
- 1:34:32Guys. How would you rate this legions
- 1:34:34Khan overall? I mean, this is top, top.
- 1:34:37Not so far. It's gonna be hard to top this
- 1:34:38one. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:34:40But I think with the Armory and everything, this is an awesome
- 1:34:43experience. The store, the way the setup and
- 1:34:45everything was the definitely created a whole new experience.
- 1:34:48So and it went off like we've butter.
- 1:34:50The everything was smooth. Everything was smooth.
- 1:34:52I mean, we got great people working.
- 1:34:54Yeah, well, that's true. You were going on that, but as
- 1:34:57well they had a little test run an intern for that was that was
- 1:35:00good. That was good.
- 1:35:01That was a good way to see how it runs, tweak a couple little
- 1:35:04things, yeah. But I think going forward, we're
- 1:35:06going to is going to be even more smoother going forward.
- 1:35:09Yeah, exactly. And Joe was even saying that
- 1:35:11they'd like to build out a little bit the like the canopy
- 1:35:14and make it look like yeah, like medieval and stuff and stuff
- 1:35:18like that. So yeah.
- 1:35:20You know, I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
- 1:35:22Absolutely. I think, I think it's something
- 1:35:23that's probably going to become a thing in the future and future
- 1:35:27shows. I think so, yeah.
- 1:35:28I think how popular, how well it went, Yeah, I don't see it going
- 1:35:32away. Yeah, I think this is going to
- 1:35:34be something we're going to be doing from now.
- 1:35:35On and get that factory going on the black leather parts again,
- 1:35:38yeah. Well, I know that the chess
- 1:35:40piece is going to come out again.
- 1:35:41Oh, is it? Yeah.
- 1:35:42Yeah, and and the release. Oh, is it?
- 1:35:45Oh, it's just the cloth arms the.
- 1:35:46Cloth arms, that's the one you're not going to get.
- 1:35:48But even the chest? That's good then, because cloth
- 1:35:50arms, you could get it from a valic or something like that,
- 1:35:53you know, Or even wouldn't be too hard to paint a cloth arms
- 1:35:56black. Well, that's the good thing
- 1:35:57about this community. There's a lot of customizers
- 1:36:00that could change whatever color you need.
- 1:36:02So make it happen, you know. Totally.
- 1:36:05Well, thanks, Greg. Great to chat.
- 1:36:06Thank you. See you soon, hopefully you guys
- 1:36:09stop by then before you head. Out.
- 1:36:10Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we that's.
- 1:36:12What we're gonna try and do, we're here all day tomorrow.
- 1:36:14See you around. Oh yeah.
- 1:36:15So tomorrow, what are you guys flying out?
- 1:36:167:00 PM for me. Tomorrow, yeah.
- 1:36:19Oh, you guys fly at different times 6.
- 1:36:20PM for me. Oh, so it's like an hour
- 1:36:23different. Yeah.
- 1:36:24So well, if you guys want to stop by and before you headed to
- 1:36:27the airport same way that we did last year, we'll.
- 1:36:30Be in touch. We'll be in touch.
- 1:36:32Keep in touch. Yeah, Let me know ahead some.
- 1:36:33I'll grab a few here for us. Are you?
- 1:36:34Here tonight for a few drinks. I'm gonna hang out tonight for a
- 1:36:37while. Cool.
- 1:36:37I'm I'm gonna shoot to the house real quick.
- 1:36:39I got to grab a skeleton for Matt to do a the patina Prince.
- 1:36:45Nice. And yeah, and then I'll come
- 1:36:47back and hang out. I took off tomorrow so I might
- 1:36:52even call out Tuesday because my boss can't hear this show.
- 1:36:57Love it. Oh, man, it's showing that Greg,
- 1:37:00he's he's TT800 custom. Pretty sweet.
- 1:37:06I love this. Yeah, it's really nice, really,
- 1:37:09really nice. And have you had many comments
- 1:37:12about that now? So I'll start.
- 1:37:14So I've had a few, everyone who's seen it's a bit really,
- 1:37:17really impressed with it. I think.
- 1:37:18I think people like the effects and the I've managed to do a bit
- 1:37:22of a glow and I've had comments on how well the glows work.
- 1:37:24So yeah. It's nice.
- 1:37:26And how are the feet today? It's not well.
- 1:37:30I keep saying it's not so much the feet, but I think it is the
- 1:37:33feet. Basically ankles is where I'm
- 1:37:35feeling it most, like lower ankle sort of thing.
- 1:37:38If I sit down, they're fine. The minute I'm stood up for like
- 1:37:41any length of time, that's starting to hurt a bit.
- 1:37:44Yeah, for me, it's if I sit down, I probably won't be able
- 1:37:47to get back up. So I'm just kind of go one leg
- 1:37:49to the other. Yeah, I've been around now.
- 1:37:52Just now to the horsemen. It's completely empty in there
- 1:37:56now. They didn't have the snake man
- 1:37:57anymore. So what's this, 1256 on Sunday?
- 1:38:01So Rich was in an hour before me.
- 1:38:04He said there was a good few there, so maybe they're just
- 1:38:06going to restock the table. We'll take another one later.
- 1:38:09But yeah, be interesting. That could be him, but we've got
- 1:38:12a couple, so, you know, we're doing OK.
- 1:38:15Rich got more than a couple. Oh, well, I mean, you can
- 1:38:18understand Rich getting a bunch because it's obviously what he's
- 1:38:20been waiting for. I got 4 and that's probably all
- 1:38:24I really need. Yeah, they've said they'll go up
- 1:38:27online like the Palliant Knights did, so there's an opportunity
- 1:38:32then, but there'll be other stuff out by then, so.
- 1:38:36And they don't have any, they don't have any exclusive pieces
- 1:38:40that could, you know, compared to when they go up online, it's
- 1:38:42like the Valley and the same figure, so.
- 1:38:44Yeah, yeah. So all right, you'll see then
- 1:38:47we. Should see.
- 1:38:48Absolutely, yeah. What's the plan for later?
- 1:38:51Sit down, probably have a beer, chill out, have a beer, chill
- 1:38:56out. It's not.
- 1:38:57So it's not such a need to get up tomorrow morning, although we
- 1:39:01do have to get up and pack. But we can have a bit of a lion
- 1:39:04so we can try and stay up a bit late tonight maybe and yeah,
- 1:39:07should be fun. Not hopefully.
- 1:39:09It's been so busy and I think we've all been suffering with a
- 1:39:12bit of the jet lag ever. Yeah.
- 1:39:13But we have an obvious stair sometimes for the very dry
- 1:39:18sinus. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:20So possibly not done the socializing that we have done
- 1:39:22previous years. So try and do a bit more of that
- 1:39:25tonight. I mean, we have been
- 1:39:26socializing, but. Yes, yes.
- 1:39:28Not, not heavy. Yeah, yeah, heavy farting.
- 1:39:30Yeah, well, not my wife. 'S gonna kill me Shaw.
- 1:39:32Last night was funny. Yes, very funny.
- 1:39:35Very. Good.
- 1:39:35Oh man, Kyle was. He was in Scrotton, Yeah, so.
- 1:39:38Funny at the start there. And all of them, of course,
- 1:39:41yeah, they did a family Fortunes.
- 1:39:44So Family Feud in America, that kind of format with the survey.
- 1:39:48And they had a couples teams and it was girls against boys.
- 1:39:52So a lot of fun. It's.
- 1:39:55Been fun teasing a couple of the guys because spoilers here.
- 1:39:59In fact, you haven't heard that show.
- 1:40:00The guys lost. So yeah.
- 1:40:03The ladies have been definitely rubbing it in this morning and
- 1:40:05not in the way that their boys would like to be rubbed in.
- 1:40:07Both definitely and rich. Come here to me.
- 1:40:10And what's the count on the snake men?
- 1:40:13Now be honest. 6/6, right. So fairly restrained for me,
- 1:40:17yeah. But I mean, you did your one
- 1:40:19purse, so you've had to do a lot of laps.
- 1:40:20And they put. Them on general sale next year
- 1:40:23anyway, so probably a few more probably I'm just.
- 1:40:25Saying that they're not there anymore, so I might do one peek
- 1:40:28in later to get one more. Yeah, I want one.
- 1:40:31I want one for my kid, but I'll give him one of the three I
- 1:40:34have. I have 3, so I'll give him one
- 1:40:37of those. But if I had an extra 1 then I
- 1:40:38could do a bit with it. Well, I'm currently debating
- 1:40:41around the Armoury experience one more time.
- 1:40:42I was, yeah. Think we might believe this?
- 1:40:44Oh, don't put that in my head. There's no cue straight in.
- 1:40:48Yeah, you have to get a ticket off Sherry, and that's great.
- 1:40:51Then you get to talk to Sherry. Exactly.
- 1:40:53Yeah. You know, so it's a win.
- 1:40:55It's a win and it's a win. Oh man, what are we going to do?
- 1:40:59We've had a good time. We're going to come back next
- 1:41:01year. Oh, 100% of an incredible sort.
- 1:41:03Yeah, it's been absolutely amazing.
- 1:41:05Yeah. And I'm still going to come on
- 1:41:06the Wednesday, even if we don't even.
- 1:41:08Get into it or anything 100% yeah, I was thinking might.
- 1:41:11Finally, take a trip into New York.
- 1:41:15In some ways, the X-ray without anything to do might be a good
- 1:41:18thing to get into, you know, a bit of a more relaxed into it
- 1:41:22because we're kind of. Adjustment as well, yeah.
- 1:41:24Yeah, yeah, yeah. We kind of just the very next
- 1:41:28day after we arrived, it was up and on with things, wasn't it?
- 1:41:30It was it's been all go since we got here and then.
- 1:41:34Although a word of warning, I was speaking to two Brits who
- 1:41:36were here earlier, they on holiday in New York come over to
- 1:41:39this as well and the day before, well the Thursday.
- 1:41:43So come over on the Friday for Legions Con.
- 1:41:45They've done 45,000 steps going around the various sites in New
- 1:41:50York on that seems like it's in New York.
- 1:41:51I'm not doing that. No, I'll be, I'll be just going
- 1:41:54one tourist attraction. I heard that, was it the skyline
- 1:41:57or something? What is it?
- 1:41:59There's something where you're up really high.
- 1:42:00Oh yeah, yeah. Is that when you're on glass?
- 1:42:02Yeah, yeah, that I'm terrible with heights, but I like to
- 1:42:05challenge myself. So that would be maybe the one
- 1:42:08thing our top of the Empire State Building and that would be
- 1:42:10cool as a But yeah, if you're doing all those steps and then
- 1:42:13you had to do what we've all the standing and hobbling around
- 1:42:17we've had to do this weekend. And I mean, we sound like awful
- 1:42:19old man, but that we kind of are, you know, we.
- 1:42:21Are awful old man. Yeah, and the old American
- 1:42:24toilets again. There is nothing that will make
- 1:42:31things you want out of your body suck right back up into your
- 1:42:34body is sitting down and realizing you can see up to
- 1:42:37people's knees as they walk past.
- 1:42:41Yeah, but even in the one in the hotel room, it's, you know, they
- 1:42:43have water up to like halfway up to sit the the the bowl and it's
- 1:42:49just, it's not a pleasant experience it.
- 1:42:50Really isn't. No, no.
- 1:42:52And there's no toilet brush, So what are you supposed to do?
- 1:42:56Yeah. Yeah, You shared a room with two
- 1:43:00of the guys. It's like, flush, put some paper
- 1:43:03down, leave it a bit, flush and then flush again and run.
- 1:43:07Yeah. And hope that you weren't the
- 1:43:08one seen coming out of the toilet.
- 1:43:10Yeah. Oh, my goodness.
- 1:43:12Yeah. It's tough life.
- 1:43:14It's tough life. Someone's got to do it.
- 1:43:16Yeah, right. We have to find the person that
- 1:43:18won the bear to sell a few more things.
- 1:43:21I get a few more. I need to go to Borderland Horde
- 1:43:23and get a few. Want us down?
- 1:43:27Exactly. Yeah.
- 1:43:28Lots of people asked for the T-shirts.
- 1:43:30We found a good few of them, but some people just kind of ducked
- 1:43:34us. So, yeah, they'll probably come
- 1:43:37at the end now and say where's my T-shirt?
