- 0:07Yo, it's your girl, Jessica Smith, and you already know that you've
- 0:10entered the safe space for influencers to decompress, have fun and just ask God,
- 0:18do you already know what it is? And then you know it's about
- 0:21to get real, So be sure to show your girl the love and like,
- 0:26come in to scrape God for another day. Hey, hey, I
- 0:32know we could be another way, So Father God, we just invoke your
- 0:39holy spirit into this room. Lord, we thank you that Desiree and Jessica
- 0:43are using their gifts and talents. And Lord God, continue to open doors
- 0:46for them. Guess that they didn't think we're attainable, make them attainable.
- 0:49And Father God, you said, if we will open our mouths, you
- 0:52will feel it. So, Father God, as we opened our mouths,
- 0:54Lord, we asked that you would prepare the hearts, the souls of mind,
- 0:58the will and the emotion of the people that we're here whatever Jessica puts
- 1:02out. And Lord, continue to keep Desiree on the cutting edge. And
- 1:04Lord, we just give you all glory on the praise that your will be
- 1:07done this day in Jesus' name. Amen, Amen, I don't want we
- 1:17want people to be trying to figure out what you're doing. Come on,
- 1:23everybody else, Come on. If this is what I tell people, well
- 1:26let me quit, because see we'll get started then with no, let's go.
- 1:32This is what I tell people. We always look at rappers and all
- 1:34that and say, well, how they go from selling drugs and this and
- 1:37that? And we want to talk about them. But if we have the
- 1:40Holy Spirit and God said he would lead God in direct us, then way
- 1:42ain't we doing it just as what they're doing in more because we have a
- 1:46cause that's worthy to be Uh, move forward, But we always want to
- 1:51look at other people and say, WHOA, why they do it? Forget
- 1:53what they're doing. God, what you put in me, then I can
- 1:56move forward so that people will look to me, and then I can lead
- 1:59them to you. Man. That's so that's so good because I think it's
- 2:02Isaiah forty three nineteen where it says, I, for I am doing a
- 2:07new thing, do you not perceive it? And the problem is the perception
- 2:09and perception is reality for people, and people only operate in what's real for
- 2:15them, right, and if God is not real for them, and what
- 2:16God is doing is not real for them, they're not gonna act because they
- 2:21don't have the perception at all. But before we get to deeper, if
- 2:28y'all don't know, listen, I think y'all have already seen the Man of
- 2:30God. Y'all may not know who he is, but I know and this
- 2:35man, first of all, you have answered it to just as the podcast
- 2:38where we create a safe space for influencers to decompress half of it, and
- 2:43just as it's your girl, Jessica Smith, and I thank you for viewing
- 2:47this podcast, viewing this episode of y'all. Y'all know what y'all waiting for
- 2:53a right? Ay, that's all right, Ay, that's already already already.
- 2:59What's up? You got Welcome into the space again. Listen, there's
- 3:02a way we not a hit one. I'm a little I'm scared of this
- 3:08one because this when you get people like this on the other side of the
- 3:14table. Fire. Yeah, so you you heard his voice already. But
- 3:20I'm about to put a name to it. But this young man, young
- 3:23man, fresh man, chocolate man. He's my friend and we've been friends
- 3:30for about a year now, and God has really really opened my eyes to
- 3:37some new things in this relationship. I am, I'm younger than he and
- 3:40he is more mature than I am in spirit, spirituality, mentality or whatnot.
- 3:46But he also he also shows me ways of where I am valued in
- 3:51his life, and so I appreciate him. This young man is a minister.
- 3:55He has he has worked with the NFL, he has you know,
- 4:00he's just a boss. He's been in sales. He has so much just
- 4:03wonderful experience that it is going to provide us so much wisdom on today.
- 4:09And so I introduced to you guys on this platform none other than Brent Miller.
- 4:21And I forgot the kate. Let me let me w Brent Kay Miller
- 4:26because I go by Jessica Smith and I'll be like, why y'all missing the
- 4:28is I need to? Because it Justice Smith is so plain. So I
- 4:30feel you, hey, because the kN and King's kids, come on,
- 4:35make it be whatever it want to be. Come on, Brent, how
- 4:39are you feeling? I am great? Am I am just before we get
- 4:43strough. I am so proud of you, just so excited I am.
- 4:47And it's it's just in a year's time to see your growth has been encouraging.
- 4:53So congratulations, thank you, thank you. I'm proud of you because
- 4:57in the year's time. We've talked and you been through some things. But
- 5:00listen, just your faith alone, just like how you just get back up
- 5:04again and again and again and you go like literally you go with God,
- 5:11like you are the prime example of going with God. So let me I
- 5:14gotta tell y'all. I'm gonna tell this story. I gotta tell y'all how
- 5:18I met Brent. Okay, so y'allve heard me say several times and brought
- 5:25up the podcast summit that was held in twenty twenty three in Miami, Florida,
- 5:30and y'all, I went by myself. I went to this place by
- 5:32myself. I had Greg and DESI Red you know in my ear, saying
- 5:35Okay, you need to do this, you need to have this note,
- 5:38just holding me accountable. But I was there with not with physical accountability.
- 5:43I thought. I thought, it's something about how God set you up to
- 5:48for your come up and did he literally did. So I'm going around and
- 5:54I'm gonna I'm gonna let Brent tell some of his perspective. But I'm going
- 5:57around. I'm this girl with loud red here. I'm just excited, Like
- 6:02I'm just so excited. I think people could just see it because a lot
- 6:05of people were just attracted to me. They were just like, you know,
- 6:10speaking or hey, I want to do an interview with you. And
- 6:13Brent had been one of those people, and I thought it was just gonna
- 6:15be like aque little interview was just gone by his day. Y'all can see
- 6:18it. We don't have to repost it. But he did an interview with
- 6:21me there. I came. I didn't come prepare. I didn't know people
- 6:25was gonna do it. I'll have my phone, my notebook and opinion.
- 6:28That's about it. Because I came to lot, I didn't know what was
- 6:30supposed to be doing all of this. And so so Brent and I did
- 6:34the interview and he asked me some great questions. I just liked his vibe
- 6:39and so I remember I remember just doing meeting him then and there was another
- 6:46man and I did an interview with him, and so we all went to
- 6:50lunch and it was just, you know, this unique opportunity. But I
- 6:55got to spend some one on one time with Brent after that, and baby,
- 6:59the poor that he poured into me by and he looked me square on
- 7:01my face, he said, listen, all these people are attracted to Like
- 7:06everybody is attracted to light. You have to be mindful of who you allow
- 7:13to get close to you. He looked me square at my I was like,
- 7:15he gro I just met it. I just met you, but it's
- 7:20y'all. It shook me so much that I became sound. He was like,
- 7:24no, you're gonna come sit with us. You're not gonna just see
- 7:27anywhere now. And it was a level of responsibility that I felt from him
- 7:31that he I was like, I don't even know him, but he was
- 7:34like, nah, no, you not doing that. And I was like,
- 7:38wow, God loves me so much that he sent me a brind like
- 7:43what do you recall all of that? So I remember seeing you, and
- 7:47you know, as you get older, your senses changed and you start being
- 7:53more observant of certain things. So I was just watching the room and I
- 7:56watched how people it was gravitating to you. But then I seen the one
- 7:59guy who went to lunch with us, how he was kind of acting.
- 8:01I'm like, okay, let me just kind of you know, being the
- 8:05father of a daughter and have sisters, you look and you just be observant.
- 8:11So I'm like okay. So then when we were walking and talking.
- 8:13Then my radar really start kicking up, because it's like, Okay, I
- 8:18know she's a child of God. And everybody that says they know God,
- 8:24which God are you talking about? Yes, we know in the Bible they
- 8:26had the Greeks had gods for everything. And so when you start talking and
- 8:31I start hearing you, that's when I had to interject and pull you away
- 8:35because it was like I didn't need you one to get distracted, but also
- 8:41somebody to start putting stuff in your ear. See, we gotta be careful
- 8:43what we let people say to us, because that's how seed gets planted.
- 8:48If somebody's not there to be a buffer, people will say something and then
- 8:52you'll start thinking, where'd my faith go? I thought God was this,
- 8:56but we allow people to just plant that. See the death was really sneaky,
- 9:01like he just we just drop a little something in your spirit and if
- 9:03you don't get it out, it starts to fester and growth. And so
- 9:07we didn't need that happening to you because God has a purpose for you and
- 9:11we don't want that to be derailed. Wow. Wow, Wow, I'm
- 9:22gonna turn around, Desirae. I don't know why be setting myself up like
- 9:28this, like real, like what you did for me, Brent. I
- 9:33don't think I've ever experienced that before. I don't think i've experienced it since.
- 9:39Right. I have a brother, right and I and we ain't close
- 9:46clothes, but we were in good standing family, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:54So we're a good standing and so I've always, if I could be
- 9:58honest, I've always probably yearned for a level of protection like that. And
- 10:03the protection of this is so good, the protection of a black man outside
- 10:09of my father right, caring for me in an unsexual manner. And I
- 10:16don't think I've ever felt safe with a man that I didn't even have an
- 10:22inkling like I when I tell you, I genuinely haven't even thought like,
- 10:26oh, Brent want the goods. I have never thought that because you your
- 10:30energy was like oh, and maybe this is too all open and honest for
- 10:33y'all, but I'm keeping it real, like as a black woman, and
- 10:37I'm not ugly, you know what I'm saying. Like I was bad.
- 10:39I was bad. Listen, pays what the prinds on now? I would
- 10:45walk with you was talking about you weren't anymore. That's why I was like,
- 10:48what was so you're talking about Oh, no, I'm talking about I'm
- 10:50not ugly at all, Like you know what I'm saying, Like I'm saying
- 10:54that outlied, Like I have to tell myself that every day because there's some
- 10:56excurious But we'll talk about that another day. But I'm saying and so so
- 11:03even in a simple fact that you saw you saw me as a child of
- 11:07God and you protected that, why did you feel the need for somebody that
- 11:13you did not know? Like there's something that is a foundation. Sounds like
- 11:18it's something rooted in you. What is that? And how do other men
- 11:22get to protect women? Let us go there that talk like that, because
- 11:26at that moment I needed protection that I didn't know I needed. I think
- 11:30if we're really honest, we all have that thing. You all can look
- 11:35at a woman and be like, yeah, she trying to set you up.
- 11:37Men do the same thing. But and I'll say this, we sometimes
- 11:41don't want to go against the bro code or the Sister code or whatever it
- 11:46is. But see, this is where the adversary once again gets in because
- 11:50we set up these fictitional guidelines that we don't even know what they're rooted in.
- 11:56See, I'm real big on where do things originate from? Come on,
- 12:00see, I have a friend and we talk all the time, and
- 12:03he always say these cliches. When people show you who they are, believe
- 12:07them. But why when people show you who they are, you still deal
- 12:09with them. You told them a secret and they keep telling it, but
- 12:13then you go back to them. The other one a lot of people say
- 12:16is everybody can't go where you are, And this applies to you. See,
- 12:20you have a heart for people, and people can see where you're going
- 12:26and they may try to derail it. But because you have a heart for
- 12:28people, you try to take them with you. But they're not supposed to
- 12:31be with you because they can't enter into the places that you can enter in.
- 12:35And so it's so important for us as men to look out for women
- 12:39because when I see you, I see my daughter, I see my mother,
- 12:43I see my sisters, I see women and so and my wife,
- 12:48and so I'm not gonna let nobody do anything to them. So why would
- 12:52I let anybody? And that may be harm, but just putting something in
- 12:56your mind that doesn't need to be there you in an inappropriate way. One
- 13:01thing I don't play with is I don't hit like play hip with women,
- 13:05call them out their name because we have to remember it. Another thing.
- 13:09This is my kind of soapbox nursery rhymes. Sticks and stones may break my
- 13:16bones, but words may never hurt me. I can heal from a sticking
- 13:20stone. It's hard to heal from words. Yeah, And so I have
- 13:24to make sure that the words that I speak speak life. They give hope
- 13:28and inspiration because if not, what are we doing? If I can't uplift
- 13:33somebody, what am I doing? Yeah? And that's one of the things
- 13:37you do. You are a coach, right do you? Coach? Man?
- 13:41You can tell because and I knew I was real because coaches have another
- 13:45level of wisdom, like understanding, and you an anointed ones not just want
- 13:50to be like come and take get a bass and say, oh I'm a
- 13:52coach. Now I done got a book. So I got a coach.
- 13:54You know, I'm talking about these people. They have really been down through
- 13:58there. And so the word it just keeps coming up for me, Brent
- 14:01is discernment. And it's like you, it seems like you have a strong
- 14:05sense of discernment. Can we go into what is discernment? And how do
- 14:09you grow in that. So first of all, we all have the ability
- 14:13to operate in the non manifestations of the Holy Spirit. So you have word
- 14:18of wisdom, word of knowledge, discernment. It's kind of like the Information
- 14:20group. You have tongues, interpretation, tongues and prophecy, and then you
- 14:24had gifts, healing and miracles. So when you operate, God gives us
- 14:31the ability to operate in anyone at any time we need to. My mother
- 14:35was strong in discernment, and so naturally it's going to be kind of inherit.
- 14:41She could tell when people were lie because God was short like a snake
- 14:43tongue when they talk, oh wow. And so that was her way of
- 14:46discernment. But for me, God drops stuff in my spirit, and so
- 14:52I tell people, whether it's church people, you to test the spirit,
- 14:56because God says, try the spirit and see if it be. So when
- 15:00you leaving out the house, maybe every day you go left, say God,
- 15:01which way I should I go? And if he says go left,
- 15:05go right, you might get stopped by train, it might be erected.
- 15:07So now you're developing that relationship to hear God. So discernment gives you the
- 15:13inate ability to see beyond what you see, and to hear beyond what you
- 15:16hear. So discernment also what I heard was discernment also ignites you to obey
- 15:24God because it's like people like I do I hear God? Or how do
- 15:28I hear God? But then it's like you hear something or you feel so
- 15:31sense something that's so interesting. We're talking about these right now because me and
- 15:35my sister were just talking about it, like how she is experiencing God in
- 15:39different ways and how she comes to it in what ways outside of discernment do
- 15:43you experience God? And they have been developed in your faith? And this
- 15:48is something that and I'm glad you said that because this is something I just
- 15:50had to get over. See, we think the way I come to God
- 15:52is the way you come to God. Come my relationship with God is your
- 15:56relationship with God. I have a very unique relationship with God. But I
- 16:00think it's just because of my faith. And sometimes I tell people just just
- 16:03do it or just praying it happens, and it don't, and I'm like,
- 16:07you know, then we become judgmental. Well, you didn't pray,
- 16:10writer, or you did this. No, that's my relationship with God and
- 16:14we as Christians have to quit trying to take our relationship and put it on
- 16:17somebody else, because now I'm trying to say I'm your God and not God,
- 16:21because I want you to be like me. He coming for everybody me.
- 16:29He just come from mine and day he said the sword. Okay,
- 16:33I am coming with the sword. Brent. I'm telling you, so,
- 16:37you, how did you get to this point? Have you always been like
- 16:41this as far as like so grounded in knowing who you are or what was
- 16:45your developmental point today? He No. Let they say God and babies.
- 16:52I was probably at the top of the food list, let's go. But
- 16:56I had a praying mother, had a praying grandmother, so they protected me.
- 17:00And this is stuff I've told my kids because what I'm gonna tell you
- 17:04I told my kids. I don't want my kids to grow up. I
- 17:07did not want them to grow up with an unrealistic expectation of life. I
- 17:12used to smoke weed. I used to snort cocaine. Wow, we used
- 17:17to drink. Me and my buddies. They caught us to AA to academic
- 17:19alcoholics. We take a fifth to one five to one light, chase it
- 17:22with the fifth to one five to one dark and chase it with black jack.
- 17:26And that was every weekend. We would leave campus. Statute of limitations
- 17:30ran out on all this, so it don't matter now, but we would
- 17:33leave school at lunchtime, go get high, get something to drink, and
- 17:37go back to school. And so God has allowed me to live through a
- 17:42lot of experiences. But I think that's where wisdom comes in, is experience.
- 17:48So even when I do business coaching, I tell people you have to
- 17:52put yourself out there. If you don't put yourself out there, you don't
- 17:55know what you're capable of. And so because of those experiences is giving me
- 18:00a certain ability to be able to understand people. And I like to keep
- 18:03things basic and simple. I think sometimes people make the word of God a
- 18:07relationship with God, business and all that too complicated. Keep it simple,
- 18:11man, you talking listen, you talking real good brand. So what was
- 18:18your pivot point? So you say you was the double A community and this
- 18:25is some information I'm just learning you guys, I'm like, whoa, all
- 18:29of I didn't know this, but to like what I'm learning. The people
- 18:33that are very rich, experienced say this real quick, huh. And this
- 18:36was all while because I start going to church at twelve, gave my life
- 18:41the Christ at twelve. This was all why I was saved. This was
- 18:45high school. So I what twelve? High school? You sixteen seventy eighteen.
- 18:49So I just wanted to throw that. So when we get to the
- 18:52pivot, you'll know how a pivot. This is so good. This is
- 18:53so good because what I was about to say is one thing that I've noticed
- 18:59in God shows me in a pattern is that the people that are have the
- 19:03most oil went through the most hill, and it's like their developmental development story
- 19:10is so powerful, and it's like, oh that's why you so like I
- 19:14forgot I live and forgot I die. Like you got to have those type
- 19:17of conversations be grounded so much because it's like if I don't do this,
- 19:22I know what I will do. So what was the pivot point for you?
- 19:26So for me, one day, me and my friends have some friends.
- 19:30We've been friends for over forty five years. Now those are my brothers.
- 19:34They're no longer friends, those are my brothers. And one day we
- 19:38were just sitting around and I just something just hit me, like God put
- 19:42you here for more than this. And so for me, I was like,
- 19:47God, take the desire away. And at that point I never smoke
- 19:49again, never snorted again, and not take a shot every now and then,
- 19:53like with my kids. You know, I don't never profess to be
- 19:56above human. Yeah that's good. So after I prayed that God took the
- 20:03desire away and never had a desire to do whatever again. And it was
- 20:07that simple for you for me, yeah, because I was about to say,
- 20:11it's okay, we're gonna have a real talk right now. So there
- 20:15are certain things that I'm like I've been told it's like you just got rid
- 20:18of it. Just you guys got to do. And it's like why does
- 20:22this keep coming up? Why do I keep facing this or whatever? So
- 20:26my journey, like I love the fact that you gave us permission to have
- 20:30our own journey, Like God gives us permission to have our own journey.
- 20:33And even though it's almost the scription where it brings up where who was that
- 20:37Peter? Was like the thrown in my flesh. Yeah, so it's like
- 20:41this throwing on my flush. I'm sick of it. But then it's like,
- 20:41no, I'm not gonna move the thron because the thorn is what keeps
- 20:45you keeps me human, but also keeps you kneeling to me. You know
- 20:48what I'm saying, keeps you honoring me, keeps you bowing to me and
- 20:52serving and worshiping me. Not just from a sense of on over you,
- 20:56but from a sense of I want to do relationship with you, and this
- 20:59is how you It is through that relationship. And so I love the fact
- 21:03that you open open it up. I want to ask you, of course
- 21:06I love your slogan. I love your slogan. You say, remember to
- 21:10have a good day on purpose? Where did you get there from? Just
- 21:15I feel like you should be intentional about everything you do. And so one
- 21:18day I was just doing something and it just hit me and I know it
- 21:22was God because I try to spread positivity, you know, not fake positivity.
- 21:27It's like real, rooted and grounded positivity. And so my thing is
- 21:32people say have a good day, but a lot of times we don't tell
- 21:36people how to have a good day. So my thing was, have a
- 21:37good day on purpose, be intentional about having a good day. And so
- 21:41what that means is I have to know what I want first to be able
- 21:47to get it. And a lot of times people will look at what you're
- 21:51doing. I forgot the camera was right and it's all good. That lets
- 22:00them know it's live and in living color and good and look and I'll keep
- 22:03all I was like, ooh, I'm feeling all of this. I wish
- 22:07I was writing some of this down, but I get to watch the replace
- 22:11with intentionality. Yes, the way we have to do intentionality is first knowing
- 22:19who we are. What keeps us from knowing us us We are our own
- 22:29worst enemies. So you know, I've this is something I haven't shared with
- 22:33anybody except my coach. I stuck with my coach the other day because a
- 22:37coach needs coach, listen, and if a coach don't have a coach,
- 22:41you might want to be worried. Yeah, And so we were talking because
- 22:44I struggle sometime with which lane. You know, everybody says you got to
- 22:47pick a lane, you gotta pick a this, and when God gives you
- 22:49gifts, it's like, well do I do this? Do I do this?
- 22:53And so I struggle with that. And so the only person that knows
- 22:57that I'm doing this now is my coach, and you are. My lane
- 23:02is faith. And let me tell you why I chose faith, Because I
- 23:04do a thing called the prelude. The peer is perspective, the RS reflective,
- 23:08and the EA is effective. And I have will make a little book
- 23:11as I talk, and they do this because I don't like motivational speaking.
- 23:15Because you live in Atlanta, you leave a motivation. By the time you
- 23:18get in traffic, all that motivation gone out. So if you ain't kust
- 23:23somebody, I'll flip them all they ain't near head two or three round window,
- 23:27it's gone. But I feel like activation. If you do this,
- 23:33when you get home and you open this little book up that you started,
- 23:36it should activate something in you to remember what made you do it. So
- 23:40my platform is faith because first of all, I gotta have faith in me.
- 23:44And that's one thing my coach told me. She said, you don't
- 23:45believe in yourself, because I'll be like, oh what if I put it
- 23:48out there and nobody this. She said, you don't even believe in yourself,
- 23:51So how people gonna believe in you? So I have to start with
- 23:53me. I know God has given me faith, I know he's given me
- 23:56favor, but I have to exercise it so that other people can see it,
- 24:00so that it gives them the belief in themselves that they can do it.
- 24:06This this is so good. You said your platform is faith, and
- 24:08I'm glad you said that, because a transparent moment is that for a long
- 24:17time and doesn't something doesn't for the sake. So my coach, this is
- 24:26good. Y'all tune in. Yeah this one. I've seen this before,
- 24:30but it's listen. We was we was on a call and it was multiple
- 24:36It was it was like people that really like take Heed to her mentorship,
- 24:40okay, and so she was like, y'all need to be doing something and
- 24:45start talking about how we need to do stuff or whatever. And so she
- 24:48going down the line. I mean, all these people have all these amazing
- 24:52things, and she was like and just what are what are you selling?
- 24:56Like? She was like, you know what you just need to do,
- 24:59you need to sell. I looked at her, and I was so bad,
- 25:03when I tell you, I was mad. Bring. I was so
- 25:04mad. And the reason why I was mad is because I felt like it
- 25:08was putting me in the box, put me in a box of where I
- 25:11couldn't do other things right. I did not know that because because I got
- 25:19what she was saying. But I was just like, no, I don't
- 25:22just want to do that. I don't want to just be known for being
- 25:25a Christian. I don't want to just be known for doing X, Y
- 25:29and Z, not knowing what God was gonna do with my platform, right,
- 25:33and so so it's almost I'm so little shamed to say this. It
- 25:37was almost like I was embarrassed or not necessarily embarrassed of God, but just
- 25:41being known for just this one thing because people are intimidated by it. And
- 25:47then on the flip side, when you're going to just being real, when
- 25:51you're going I won't say against, but having these dialogues with with people like
- 25:55that don't really believe in the Bible, depict and choose like intentionally on what
- 26:00believe in, what word they're gonna do, what they're gonna live out.
- 26:03They put you in this box and say, okay, you can only be
- 26:08Christian and look like this and do this, not knowing that I was going
- 26:11to. I was made and built to buck against systems and so like,
- 26:15did you have any experience of ways like na, Maybe I don't want to
- 26:19talk too much about FAY because everybody's not comfortable. Did you ever have that
- 26:22and how did you break through that? Long? Definitely, I think as
- 26:26a Christian, you always have that internal struggle because, like you said,
- 26:30the perception of what a Christian is or was. And see, I've never
- 26:34been a traditionalist my whole life as an adult, I've done things my way.
- 26:41I don't like tradition, I don't like routine. I don't like the
- 26:45establishment, so to speak. I want to live life on my terms.
- 26:49And so to be able to do that, you have to know first of
- 26:53all, who you are. Goes back to knowing you. I know what
- 26:56I will do and won't do. So doing that and going into my mind
- 27:02racing, I forgot what you just asked me. Lord help me. Did
- 27:04you have a web fell about being in a box? Yeah? Thank you,
- 27:08so I did. But then I had to realize you can put me
- 27:14in a box, but I'm gonna break out of it because everything you think
- 27:17you know about me as a Christian, I'm gonna challenge your beliefs. I
- 27:21was just teaching Bible study two weeks ago, and I told him I want
- 27:25to challenge you. There's a thing called the lullaby effect, where you've heard
- 27:30something so long you never pay attention to the details. When you start reading
- 27:33the Bible. For yourself and you start seeing detail. So I preached in
- 27:38Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago, and I was talking about Moses and the
- 27:41children of Israel and when they got to the Red Sea and they were complaining
- 27:47about you brought us out here to die and all this, and Moses was
- 27:51talking to God. Do you know what God told Moses? He said,
- 27:52stop praying and get moving. Ye see, we always want to pray about
- 27:56it. Lord, What should I do? What should I do? God
- 28:00already told you what to do, but you ain't moved. So why he
- 28:02gonna give you the next step? And you waiting for him to lay out
- 28:04this twenty step plan when you ain't even took the first steps. And so
- 28:08when people try to put the brakes on, you wear them out where their
- 28:12breaks out. I'm the way, y'all out. I'm on this. This
- 28:17is so before you say that. This is My pastor in Cincinnati told me
- 28:21this, and I love it. He said, if two of us are
- 28:22just alike, one of us is unnecessary. See. I can't be nothing
- 28:26but a second rate Jessica. But you can be a first rate Jessica.
- 28:30And everybody can try to emulate you, but they can't in business coaching,
- 28:33I tell people people always say, don't tell people your business ideal. I'll
- 28:36tell you one. You didn't come up with it, so you can only
- 28:40replicate what I told you. Even if you did, it still wouldn't be
- 28:44me. What does McDonald's sail Hamburgers? What does Wen d sel Hamburgers?
- 28:48What does who else? Burger King? So they all doing the same thing,
- 28:53but people go to each one for different reasons. And this is this
- 28:57is so good. So even just me and like something just knowing knowing that
- 29:03something might be similar but it's not the same exactly, Like just the power
- 29:07in that transition, Like that's why. That's why when people say even the
- 29:14podcast everybody got, when I say it makes me cringe When people say that
- 29:18to me, it's like, oh everybody got a podcast? No, you
- 29:21just know a lot of people that's pursuing it, Like everybody don't have no
- 29:23pot. That's a lie. That but that part is a lie. And
- 29:29so even if I do have a podcast, my podcast is different. And
- 29:33I've had people come on here and say, oh, this is so different.
- 29:37I get to flow or I'm not. I don't feel like X,
- 29:41Y and Z, like it's different because it's me like my like my light
- 29:45is different, your light is different. And so what my my brother in
- 29:52law, Delierate, called me gullible the other day. And this story that
- 29:57I just said earlier binds me of what he said, because as he said,
- 30:03you open yourself up to everybody. You're such a people person as you
- 30:07go up, you want to take everybody, but you need them folks to
- 30:10be like nah, fam this is Brent, that's his lane. I wouldn't
- 30:15like that, and not for myself. I might be like that for other
- 30:18people, but not for myself. And so we have to appreciate this so
- 30:21good. We have to appreciate our portion of light and our portion of salt.
- 30:25That's right, because all of us were called to be the same thing,
- 30:26but different portions. This is so well. Think about this. We
- 30:32both have done sales. Yeah, we have people buy from people they like.
- 30:37I worked at a company and when I went to sales, I struggled
- 30:41at first because I kept trying to do it their way. I pulled out
- 30:45my secret weapon. I printed off all my perspective customers and my current customers,
- 30:51and every morning I prayed over that list. Those that had business would
- 30:55increase those that had canceled would come back, and those that hadn't signed on
- 31:00with us that they would. And I prayed over that every day, and
- 31:03then I would start at the alphabetical order A and I would reach out to
- 31:07everybody, and they was like, you gotta make phone calls. You gotta
- 31:10make phone calls. No, I'm not making phone calls. I email.
- 31:12So when I start doing the business one who order one hundred and twenty six
- 31:18percent ago one hundred and twenty four percent, and they it's like, you
- 31:22need to make more phone calls. I said, why, Well, because
- 31:25you got to make phone calls and sales. Am I not hitting my goals?
- 31:27Am I not leading the team? See, you want me to do
- 31:30it your way, but that don't work for me. And so when we
- 31:33try to do things the way we see people do them, we don't.
- 31:37We're not as effective as God wants us to be. See, God created
- 31:41each one of us. We always say, I know the plans I have
- 31:45for you, and I knew you before you was even formed in your mother's
- 31:48loom. Then why I keep trying to make you like me? If we
- 31:51know God created us different? Now what the love we have for God can
- 31:55be on the same level, but the way we express that love can be
- 32:00totally different. That's so good. You just you just said something that just
- 32:07that just blew my mind. And I'm trying to go back to the exact
- 32:10way you said it, because it's like I'll feel fucked on the fact that
- 32:15you said, like you want me to do something the way you taught me
- 32:22to do it, because that's how you learn, but that's not how I
- 32:28evolved. That was a synopsis of what you just said. And I think
- 32:31that's so profound because that's where a box come bean. Sometimes people place it
- 32:37in the box, but a lot of times we placed I steal the boxing.
- 32:42Oh everybody else in the box looking in the box. Middle, you
- 32:44know what I'm saying. Because this world teach us that it's only one way
- 32:49of doing it something, and it's my way of doing It's almost like cooking,
- 32:52like you can get onto one thing I do because bring I gotta be
- 32:55prepared for cuts and show up and so I'm like trying to cook and stuff
- 33:01and so stop laughing, right, I was just trying to cook it so
- 33:07so and I used to cook when I was a child, but I stopped.
- 33:10I cooked out because it was necessary for me to cook for me and
- 33:14me and my dad and my sister. But I stopped there for awhile because
- 33:17it was just felt like, you know, just draining, and I'm trying
- 33:20to get the energy to do that again. Boy, your girl been cooking
- 33:22and TikTok and helping up, okay, And so one of the things I've
- 33:25practiced is that I look at multiple videos for the same type of recipe I'm
- 33:31looking for. Okay, right, so I might say I might do a
- 33:35big chicken or price on my fried chicken. Mean now, oh, go
- 33:39to TikTok. I learned how to play a few like I don't like that
- 33:42about that. And that's how I love this idea because it allows me to
- 33:49look at what people have done and evaluate what I like, take everything that
- 33:52I like from what people have done, and incorporate my own thing. A
- 33:57lot of times, I think I feel like I got trading with the art
- 34:00of cooking because I was trying to be just like this recipe. I was
- 34:07trying to ascue just like this recipe. But now that I know what I
- 34:12like with season, I don't like to see I don't like muchroom. So
- 34:14I'm not gonna put mushrooms and my ingredients not get muchrooms. You might need
- 34:20something else, you know, you might get criminal chickens. But all one
- 34:25saying that is that you are so right there. We have to stop putting
- 34:29ourselves in these botses so that we can evolve with God. Think about this.
- 34:35We allow people to put us in watches, but we close the lid
- 34:40because they can put us in, but we have the ability to step out
- 34:45what we don't. We're basically closing the lid and saying, I surrender to
- 34:49your thoughts to be your perception to me and the way I should do things.
- 34:53Now, the other thing you just said was you go to TikTok and
- 34:57you look and learn. To me, that's nothing but Proverbs twenty seven seventeen,
- 35:00iron sharp and zion. You're looking at what somebody's doing and it's giving
- 35:05you skill set to do what you do. That's so good. That's so
- 35:08good, And that's why we got a lot of dull people with the willas
- 35:14man see. We would have to do a series if we got off masks,
- 35:17because I'm gonna tell you Christians, I don't even want to associate with
- 35:22some of them. Tell the truth why. But the other thing to think
- 35:25about this though, that's because everything has evolved as it should. God caused
- 35:32everything to live and to reproduce. Some of the Christians I watched growing up,
- 35:37I pray to God they never reproduce nothing. I mean nothing, And
- 35:44that's just me and I'm honest. But when God says I'm doing a new
- 35:49thing, why do churches keep wanting to go back to the old thing.
- 35:53Yeah, there's a book I've read called mind Shift. He says, when
- 35:59you fight for your traditions, you sacrifice your youth when you set when you
- 36:04fight for your youth, you sacrifice your traditions. I'm all for sacrifice and
- 36:07traditions. Traditions keep people balanced, man, So we don't we don't want
- 36:15people to be balanced. Jesus said it came to set all captives free,
- 36:20all of them. When I say all of them, I mean all shoot.
- 36:23And even if you take the same script scripture, people don't think that
- 36:27there their self captivation. Because what I think about, because what the Lord
- 36:37has really been dealing with me in this season, right, is that the
- 36:40outside factors won't alter into my insati factors have been district right, and people,
- 36:47it's so easily said. But I can talk about all the captives around
- 36:52me. But I'm self captivating, like I got I'm arrested inwardly. You
- 36:57know what I'm saying. I'm I'm by seeing inwardly. I am bound inwardly.
- 37:02And so when I don't do the inward word to where I allow God,
- 37:07that's the only way I can really do the inward word. We try
- 37:09to say, you know, put it all on people, and then not
- 37:15seeing a change, I'm like, well, where this is something I said
- 37:17online the other day I said where is God? We look at the situation
- 37:22like, oh, with this thing, this thing, this thing, God,
- 37:24where are you. It's almost a role switch of how he searched for
- 37:31Adam because he wasn't in a proper place. Hey God, I'm not seeing
- 37:36you come come out. I'm not like and people are afraid to announce that
- 37:42they have moments like that. And so I love the conversation. So I
- 37:45want to give you a business. Yes, ma'am, come on this.
- 37:49The nf A keeps coming up. So what did you do with the NFL?
- 37:53So I am. Currently I have two clients, one play fifteen years
- 37:59in the NFL and the other one played eleven so personal assistant, executive assistant,
- 38:06you can call it. So sometime the best way to describe it is
- 38:08I'm them, so they don't have to be. So give you a little
- 38:14backstory. So, like I told you, I've never liked tradition. So
- 38:19I had two brothers. One worked at a car lot when the sports marketing,
- 38:22and so one of their clients needed a car detail. And I like
- 38:25detailing cars because I like to see things change, So detailing their car then
- 38:31from there seeing these bars, Bro, that's what you're here for. And
- 38:39so I asked him if there was anything else they needed done. So as
- 38:45they became more comfortable with me. And this is where character comes in,
- 38:49because people don't understand character can take you places and keep you there that something
- 38:54else can or can. So because of the character they see to me,
- 38:59I would go pick their pain and something from the airport, bring them took
- 39:01games, have keys to their cars, homes and everything while they're gone,
- 39:06and so from there it kept going. So at this time people was like,
- 39:08oh, you just want to be a flunky for the athletes to chase
- 39:10women this and that, And I'm like gonna chase women for no why?
- 39:14But myself and so at that point, wait, hold on, I'll say
- 39:22women for myself. Okay, keep going, I'll fuck. And so they
- 39:27both played the Pro Bowl and that's when it was at Hawaii. So they
- 39:31flew me to Hawaii, all expensive paid team. Uh yeah, probably that
- 39:36same thing. Why when I was in Cincinnati. So they flew me to
- 39:39Hawaii, all expensive paid for. We stayed at the hotel with all the
- 39:43players, and a lot of people talk about my wife because they were gonna
- 39:47fly her to Hawaii so we can spend time at Hawaii. And she would
- 39:51not leave our babies. They were probably ten and nine or something like that,
- 39:58was chairman, let me chase something. I thank God, and this
- 40:02is for both of you. All. God gives you a little bit of
- 40:07what you want, but to give you everything you need. Inmate, my
- 40:12wife is everything that I need, and that need becomes my want because I
- 40:17desire what she has that God has given her from me. Wow, you
- 40:28just took a turn. He just took a turn. He took a turn
- 40:36because oh, justin you are not crying today. I want to be a
- 40:40wife. Wait I do. So he's just seems so difficult, like it
- 40:46just seems so different. I don't know. Okay, Gray, I'm gonna
- 40:51get the camera off me. So there's a couple of things about wanting to
- 40:58be a wife. And remember earlier we talked about things people tell us and
- 41:02they drop in our spirit. So when someone says, someone's not going to
- 41:08change me, because sometimes you hear people male the female say oh when I
- 41:13get married, So they're not going to change me. The mere fact that
- 41:15you live alone right now, have to share space with somebody, you got
- 41:19to change. So that's it seems subtle, but it's still a mindset.
- 41:23See the great thing about the mind that God gave us, it's better than
- 41:29any ai out there. What you plan in your mind, the mind will
- 41:34start to move forward with it. That's why people when you hear people talking
- 41:37about they want to whatever it is they may want to do, they may
- 41:39not have the ability, but because the mind sets, oh you want to
- 41:43do that, let's go forward with it, and that's what happens. The
- 41:45other thing about marriage is sometimes people put so much pressure on themselves that have
- 41:51to be married by this date. And this I was talking to one of
- 41:54my clients the other there, and this is why. And this is another
- 41:58reason God told me to speak of faith. You have to believe one that
- 42:02you're enough as you are, whether you cook or not. Because I don't
- 42:07cook, and my wife loves to cook, but I like to clean,
- 42:10so she cooks I clean. That works for us. For a person that
- 42:16wants to be married, you have to just say God, I'm going to
- 42:20be who you call me to be. Help me to do what you call
- 42:22me to do and the way that you call me to do it, so
- 42:25that the person that's looking for me will find me. See a lot of
- 42:30times we don't put ourselves in a position to be found or we feel like
- 42:34I'm still working on me. None of us are a finished product. You
- 42:37have to be you and allow God to do it. Now, this is
- 42:40some game for my brothers. Talk. We we have gotten away from what
- 42:45a man is. See one thing I learned about and and we'll touch on
- 42:50this just a little bit. See everybody wants to intimacy, the sexual part
- 42:53of it. But see for a woman it's mental. For a man that's
- 42:58physical. That's why man can cheats so easy because to them there's no attachment.
- 43:02It's she look cute, she looked this, I've gotta have her and
- 43:07so they go after that. But a woman, a real woman, is
- 43:13love and natured. So what that means is when I get up in the
- 43:15morning, I tell my wife I love her. If she goes out before
- 43:20me, or however that goes, you send her a text of email.
- 43:22When she gets the work, she sees another message from you. You send
- 43:25her some flowers. Just because I'm priming the pump all day long. By
- 43:30the time she is home, she just as ready as I am for the
- 43:34intimate part. But we don't feed that part. So I was at a
- 43:37college one day and just kind of building a little context, and we were
- 43:40having a discussion about relationships, and a lot of girls said, oh,
- 43:44the man, don't they want the girls with the booty and this and that.
- 43:46I said, but let me ask you this. They said, what
- 43:47about the brain. I said, when you see a car, do you
- 43:50say that car drives good? No? You said, that's a nice looking
- 43:52car and something. Now let me drive it to see how it drives.
- 43:57Now I know what I like and don't like about it. So if you're
- 44:00not presenting yourself in a way that's attractive because you're worried about stereotypes and all
- 44:05that, why would a man even approach you when we did in my youth
- 44:09group, I've done two different youth groups, and one in Cincinnati was called
- 44:14Leaders Up Tomorrow a Lot and the one in Atlanta was Students of Excellence.
- 44:17My wife came and she talked to the young ladies about their hair, their
- 44:22makeup, their dressed. The next Sunday, you should have seen them girls,
- 44:25and it was ages twelve eighteen. They came in there with their hair
- 44:30done. They it was on point. But now you see people out in
- 44:34new bonnets and rollers and house shoes and pajamas, and you talking about you
- 44:40want to find an athlete, girl, he ain't. Suddenly you know,
- 44:45that's the thing against me is people you have. There's a thing called who
- 44:50always hear a cause an effects, But we want to do effect and cause.
- 44:53See, if Jessica dresses the way that Dressica wants to be approached,
- 44:58that's going to cause a man to approach her in the manner she wants to
- 45:00be approached. When we come out looking any kind of way and a guy
- 45:05talks to you any kind of way, yeah he should have a little more
- 45:07respect. But what are you advertising? What are you putting out there?
- 45:10Of how do you want to be approached? Yeah, that and you know
- 45:15you're gonna make supposed man saying that, And I'm like, it's so old
- 45:19school, but no, it's really it is really the truth. And but
- 45:22and it goes back to even like I said, even like I said,
- 45:25with our relationship, our friendship, of how you approached me, it was
- 45:30more it was not trying to fit game. But this is something worthy of
- 45:34protecting. Oh about the crime, that's nice, this is something worthy of
- 45:39protecting. So staying the realm of you and your wife? How have y'all
- 45:46always been that? Am I going on? Like? So, what's the
- 45:52what's the At what point did you learn how to value her? I don't
- 45:58know. I ain't there yet. I'm still learning. M not that real.
- 46:01That's real. So quick story. We were married, two kids,
- 46:07and I'm very bullheaded, very stubborn. I can be very arrogant. God's
- 46:12working on me. And when you say people are gonna be mad, I
- 46:15could care less. You know. Yeah, I'm at the point in my
- 46:17life where you ever had the grandmother or somebody when they got old, they
- 46:21just said whatever they wanted to be Like, you can't say you said,
- 46:23I can say whatever. That I would want to say, that's me.
- 46:28And so we went through a little rough patch and my wife is like,
- 46:34we should take a break. Being all my infinite stupidity said I don't take
- 46:39breaks. Even we work it out, we don't. So we got divorced.
- 46:43So we were divorced about two and a half, maybe close to three
- 46:46years. And so when people were saying, why would you want to get
- 46:49divorced? Oh, she she that ain't got to be like, you ain't
- 46:52there yet, because I wanted to reconcile because I miss my family. And
- 46:57when I would say, she guns like you ain't there yet. So people
- 46:59ask what happened? Oh we this guy? I said, you make it
- 47:02a little progress. When I got to the point and said it's me,
- 47:07I was the one that wasn't acting like I was married as far as because
- 47:09I played semi pro football at the time. In church, you know,
- 47:13hit under the auspices. I got to be at church every time the doors
- 47:15opened and not home with my family. She felt like a single married woman.
- 47:22And so once I said it's me, then God opened the door for
- 47:25us to records out. Now let me tell you how God did it.
- 47:28I love how God set us up to do things. So at this time,
- 47:31the Bachelor of TV show was just now on team. In the first
- 47:35season, Cincinnati was doing a little spin off of Cincinnati's Most Eligible Bachelor.
- 47:42I had a friend that worked at the chamber and they called us, said,
- 47:45we need one more guy. Do you know anybody why she called me?
- 47:49She knows a lot of people she called me. I happened to be
- 47:52off that day, so I put on the suit, went down and walked
- 47:57through their studios kind of like it was my office because I worked at them.
- 48:00And so that night on TV they ran Cincinnati's Most Eligible Bachelors. Yeah,
- 48:04well guess we've seen it. My wife, all her girlfriends, everybody,
- 48:07and she said her phone was blowing up something like that. I know
- 48:09you ain't gonna let somebody get brand after you don't put all that work on
- 48:13God. So God, once I got to the point and said what my
- 48:16issue was, forget whatever she may or may not have done my issues in
- 48:21a relationship, God opened the door for us to reckon south And so we've
- 48:24been married down twenty over twenty some years after the first marriage. So that
- 48:31is powerful. So that even gives people hope that are like in that state
- 48:37of separation, Like because you said it was three or four years. We
- 48:40separated about two and a half to three years and y'all had illegally divorced.
- 48:44Yeah, we were divorced. She think took her maiden name back and everything.
- 48:49Oh wow. So she was like, see, so y'all didn't think
- 48:52you wanted it, but y'all didn't think that y'all would get back together.
- 48:54Yeah, because she said no way when I when I would even approach her
- 48:58about it, she'd be like, nope, nope. And it took God
- 49:01to work on me to get to where she would even consider. Wow,
- 49:09okay, he just okay, we took a hard turn, but that I
- 49:13think, okay to say that was so good and to me, and I
- 49:16believe that somebody would hear that and have hope because especially after COVID, like
- 49:22people people were either getting married or divorced twenty twenty. You saw a lot
- 49:29of rings and a lot of things A little thing. No, but we
- 49:35just stayed like like we're not we're not married anymore. And so I love
- 49:39the aspect that you create. You just created hope for people, and so
- 49:45I don't want him to get that. We was on your NFL story.
- 49:47So she didn't want to go to Hawaii with you guys, and you were
- 49:52in Hawaii, Okay, that's where you love, That's where you loved up.
- 49:55Because I might have one more thing to all of them. So the
- 49:58thing is both sexists need to think about what's important to them. See a
- 50:05lot of times I tell my kids, I'm a world almost in favor of
- 50:08arranged marriages. And I can see why people do it because see, if
- 50:13I'm picking for you, I don't care nothing about how tall, darkened hands.
- 50:16Some will let the body look like. I want to know what's in
- 50:20your heart. I want to know what your background is, what your family
- 50:22like, what kind of issues made a rise because of this? And so
- 50:28I'm picking based off of that. Where you're picking based off of this.
- 50:31How much money does he make, her she make? Where does she live?
- 50:35Does she live here? You know? I love TikTok. I resisted
- 50:38it for the longest because I'm like, it's silly, But that's because only
- 50:43people were looking at silly stuff. Yeah, you can look on there and
- 50:45find whatever you want. But there was one, and it makes me laugh.
- 50:50There was a girl. She got in the car with a guy and
- 50:52she's like, before we go on this date, can I ask you some
- 50:53questions? She was like, this is your car? He was like,
- 50:57yeah, do you live with your parents? No? Uh? Do you
- 51:00have a good credit score? Yeah? Do you have a job yeah?
- 51:04She said, okay, we can go. He said, let me ask
- 51:05you some question. Do you have a card? Well no, my dad's
- 51:08trying to help me get one. Do you have a good credit score?
- 51:12Well no, I'm working on that. Now where do you live? I
- 51:15stay with my parents. He reached over open the door and said, this
- 51:17day is over. Wow. I say that to say, if we base
- 51:22our potential mates on a certain standard, if they turned that standard back to
- 51:28us when we meet, it so bad. Okay, so now we'll go
- 51:32back to the NFL. Now like no, but but you So that's a
- 51:37real question because sometimes I don't even have to ask myself that, like,
- 51:40am I the woman that I would like for my for my maid to be?
- 51:44And sometimes it scares me because but I also don't want to get spoke
- 51:49in the idea of that I'm not good enough to be in a marriage because
- 51:53I know that there's a certain level of development there. Does it really good?
- 52:00Yeah? So I was, but yeah, okay, so now we
- 52:07have a fib which so White didn't want to go to wife, so she
- 52:12watched the kids. But you went there and what happened, got a chance
- 52:15of meet a lot of guys, took pictures, and it was just a
- 52:19great experience in being Hawaii. So they both went to the Pro Bowl again
- 52:22the next year, Yeah, before a whole year, and invited her out.
- 52:25She didn't want to go. But that's one thing I love about my
- 52:28life. She is a mother through and through and you know, a lot
- 52:32of times you hear people talk about baby mama drama and all that not an
- 52:37issue. So it was good for me to know that I could leave and
- 52:42that my kids were good, that she was good. And when I came
- 52:45home, you know, it was like I had never really left because she
- 52:50did a lot. She held the house down, and I think a lot
- 52:52of times we don't give women the credit they deserve being a stay at home
- 52:57mom, and I think during COVID a lot of guys find that out,
- 53:00like staying at home with the kids out there is not a picnic, especially
- 53:05if the wife had a job that like a nurse or a doctor, where
- 53:08they were considered essential and had to leave and maybe he was in sales and
- 53:13he had to stay home trying to get on zoom for school and all this
- 53:17new stuff. A lot of guys find out that, hey, this is
- 53:21a full time job in itself, and so we have to learn to respect
- 53:24each other. And what I mean by that is the sexiest because society will
- 53:30have us trying to make each other equal and all that. And this is
- 53:35a conversation a lot of people don't understand. But for me, I don't
- 53:38want you to be I want you to be who you are. And if
- 53:42we're matched perfectly in some areas and equal, fine, But I'm a woman
- 53:46that's like me. I don't want somebody that can be hot headed and bullheaded
- 53:52and all that. And that's not in regards to a sex but a personality
- 53:58type. And sometimes we're looking for people that are just like us or have
- 54:01similarities, which are cool. But I think when you're really looking for me,
- 54:06or guy's really looking for a woman, he's looking for somebody that can
- 54:08compliment him. We're on my week that she's strong, because now if we're
- 54:13together, I know you got my back and I got yours. So these
- 54:16are just some of the things that we have to look at when we're choosing
- 54:21a potential made, not just the physical part of it. And that's and
- 54:24that's right. I think. I'm I'm not gonna say that I came up
- 54:30little my sister. My sister told me, she was like, yeah,
- 54:34you don't really care about Louis. I do care about Louis, but I'm
- 54:37at a point where I really care about the heart and the sire and I
- 54:43think maybe I don't know if it sounds Selvish or not, but I really,
- 54:45I really do want someone to take care of me in the way I
- 54:51need to be taken care of life. I'm not somebody that doesn't like the
- 54:53work or doesn't want to go out and doesn't have anything going on, but
- 54:59how I feel like it right now in this place, it's hard for me
- 55:01to find someone or to speak to people, whether they just only want you
- 55:08know, Virginia and then or they can't manage, you know, my progression
- 55:17in every other field. And it's like, I don't know, if I'm
- 55:22honest, lately I've been weary of that. It's just like you know,
- 55:27it'll have when it happened, just to deflect, well, the looks things
- 55:31whole totally subjective because what it may be attractive to somebody may not be attractive
- 55:37to somebody else. Yeah. But the one thing I think, as we
- 55:40get older, we realize I'm not the same size as I was when me
- 55:44and my wife met, So your looks are going to change. People's physical
- 55:50shape and appearance is going to change. We just have to make sure that
- 55:53there's something more sustainable, Like you said, the heart, the mindset,
- 55:58the love that will carry a student physical changes. That's so good man.
- 56:04We didn't we didn't follow the yellow he who lame? We're going, I'm
- 56:14I'm hotting on one man, Brent. Then then then dropped some gems today
- 56:20Desert Ray. What what was your biggest takeaway? Girl? I think just
- 56:25the I just love how free is to him. I know you know what
- 56:30I'm saying. And and when when he was talking about how we all learned
- 56:32differently, it made me think about when I was in cosmetology school. I
- 56:37went to Paul Mitchell in the school in Birmingham, and on our name tags,
- 56:40we had to take these tests about our learning styles. Right, so
- 56:45where you're like visual, you know, kinesthetic with your hands or audible whatever
- 56:50that is, and they and we had to put They put our they labeled
- 56:52us on our name tags, they labeled it on it. They put how
- 56:55you learned on your name tags, so that as the instructor it is showing
- 57:00you things, or as the instructor is teaching, you know, a haircut
- 57:04or a coloring technique, they can look on your name tag to make sure
- 57:07that you're getting it, Like let me make sure I know you, I
- 57:10know you're I know your kinesthetic, which is hands on, let me let
- 57:13me allow you to come up here and do it yourself that kind of thing.
- 57:15Or I know you're audible, let me make sure I get you the
- 57:17audio of this, X, Y and Z right. And So that's just
- 57:22kind of feel like how how we are in life in general, like being
- 57:25okay, because I struggle with this too, Like when you're especially when you're
- 57:30around gifted and anointed people, you know, trying to make the thing that
- 57:34God gave you look like theirs, and of the matter is that it doesn't.
- 57:37So we have to just be okay with what God has given us and
- 57:40how and how He's given to do is matter of fact, a couple of
- 57:44weeks ago, we had prayer and my pastor. You know, she got
- 57:46this long line she praying to everybody, so she get to me and she
- 57:51say, accept God's planing path, not his plan. Accept God's path for
- 57:55your life. And I'm looking like shunned over everybody else, but I don't
- 58:00get no shun it. But it was so right on point because you know,
- 58:05like I'm accepting, like, okay, I know God got a plan
- 58:07from me, but I also have to tell how he wants to do it,
- 58:12like I had to get out of my own way and trying to help
- 58:14him, you know what I'm saying, and I just have to things.
- 58:16And I was like, okay, that makes sense. So it was just
- 58:19so freeing just to hear you know that he's just who he is. Yeah,
- 58:22and he's so cool with so and very so cool with it. Just
- 58:27like he told me where were going after the y. That's when he asked
- 58:30me, now one court, this is what we're doing, and this is
- 58:35and gave me fleasability. Okay, you can, we can do what you
- 58:37want to do, but this is what we do. Brian. I'm so
- 58:40grateful for you, like like grateful for you something else you've done for me,
- 58:45and I'm I'm gonna give you opportunity to say some final words. But
- 58:49something else you did for me when I met you is that you pulled on
- 58:52my gift and taught me how to teach my gift. And it was like
- 58:59and you so all the willingness. But then you came back and almost in
- 59:02like a coaching manner and said, oh, I'm gonna give you feedback on
- 59:07how you did with me. That put a level of boldness in me,
- 59:09because somebody of your stature, you know what I'm saying, somebody got looking
- 59:14like man, he's so wise, he got it, like you know,
- 59:16you just for me. You're it for me, You're it. And when
- 59:21you asked me for help and you say, hey, I don't understand this,
- 59:23that's another thing I love about him. Like he'said, hey, I
- 59:25don't understand how to do this. How can you teach me? Can I
- 59:28get on your calendar? Can I get on your calendar? Can you teach
- 59:30me how to do this? And we learned it was TikTok, it was
- 59:35how to do reals. And you taught me cap cut, cap cut,
- 59:38and we took off with it. And you would have thought I gave him
- 59:42minute a minute of dollars. The way he responded to me, he was
- 59:44like, ches, this is so many like thank you so much. It
- 59:45makes sense and it just it gave me the confidence that I needed. So
- 59:50I just want to say thank you. You're such a well rounded person.
- 59:52You're a well rounded friend. And I'm just thankful that God, you know,
- 59:55has given us the journey, this journey together and so and every episode
- 1:00:01I give people the opportunity for final thoughts. So if there was anything,
- 1:00:07if they didn't hear anything that you said today, what is one thing that
- 1:00:09you would leave the viewers? Have faith in believing yourself. There is nothing
- 1:00:17that we get accomplished without faith. We get in our car and believe it's
- 1:00:22gonna drive us to where we need to be. We believe we're gonna arrive
- 1:00:25safely. It's the same thing with your life and your journey. You have
- 1:00:28to have faith that what God put in you is what is needed at this
- 1:00:32time and earth. We could have been born at any other time in earth
- 1:00:36as society, but God chose to deposit us here. Now it's the time
- 1:00:39for him to get a return on his deposit. Make sure you do what
- 1:00:44God called you to do. Make sure you do what God called you to
- 1:00:49do. Brent. I love you, man, I love you too,
- 1:00:52and I'm offended about one thing. Oh what you call me a friend?
- 1:00:57You my sister? How you're gonna call me a friend? My bad?
- 1:01:01That my bro, my bro? And them that my bro. This is
- 1:01:06my brother from another mother. We got the same daddy. All all right,
- 1:01:15delil right, man, this is a good one. I love you.
- 1:01:17I love you, Love you, y'all. Man, Like, come
- 1:01:21in and subscribe, baby, because this one we want it. We want
- 1:01:24to hear your feedback on this one. But until next time, remember life
- 1:01:29could be much more simple if you just asked thank you for tuning in to
- 1:01:39this week's episode. Since you've made it this far, you might as well
- 1:01:44connect with us on all social media platforms at Deep Jessica S. Smith,
- 1:01:49I know I won't see you back until next week, but until then,
- 1:01:52remember to love always yourself and always stay for one over there. Hey,
- 1:02:02Hey, I know we could be another way. Hey, pray thank God
- 1:02:08for another day. Hey Hey, I'm just thankful for another day. Hey
- 1:02:19Hey another day? Oh, another day wise, another day to get it
- 1:02:22right, another day to rise up, another day living another day We loved
- 1:02:27ones I always remember hold it down for a ball one. Yeah.
