- 0:02Speaker 1: Houston's coming to town this Sunday. Who's the player on
- 0:05Speaker 1: the Texans that scares you the most this week?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Really inderstood pass for Shure and rookie well c J
- 0:10Speaker 2: Stroud scares me a little. But what really scares me
- 0:12Speaker 2: about the Texans is is they still believe in themselves.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zam on this Thursday, presented by Field's
- 0:36Speaker 1: Auto Group, Kai Nani Stevens, grind Sexton, John Over. You're
- 0:38Speaker 1: here with us today as we get ready for Week
- 0:41Speaker 1: three against the Texans. We've moved on from lost against
- 0:44Speaker 1: Chiefs and now we're focused on this divisional matchup against
- 0:47Speaker 1: the Texans. And John, as you mentioned, this team has
- 0:50Speaker 1: struggled so far there oh in too, but th we're
- 0:52Speaker 1: just early in the season, so it really hasn't crushed
- 0:54Speaker 1: them at any point. They're not at a point where
- 0:56Speaker 1: they're winless still, you know, halfway through the year. It's
- 0:59Speaker 1: early on.
- 0:59Speaker 2: They're ascending, or they believe they're ascending with a new coach,
- 1:05Speaker 2: a new plan, so they're all still buying in and
- 1:07Speaker 2: in the NFL early in the season, when teams still believe,
- 1:10Speaker 2: when they've got a quarterback who can throw like Stroud,
- 1:13Speaker 2: You never know it's going to happen, and they won't
- 1:17Speaker 2: quit off of one early touchdown late in the season.
- 1:20Speaker 2: You play a team like this, okay, well we know
- 1:22Speaker 2: this team's better than we are. They're not there yet,
- 1:25Speaker 2: so they're always dangerous, even at home. Even though they
- 1:28Speaker 2: have a rookie quarterback Brian for.
- 1:30Speaker 3: The first time in a couple of years, they've got
- 1:31Speaker 3: their honest to goodness direction set right. I mean, the
- 1:34Speaker 3: last few years they had David Cuckliffe and then Lovey Smith,
- 1:39Speaker 3: and you just neither of those felt permanent because the
- 1:42Speaker 3: quarterback wasn't there. They were relying on Davis Mills. It
- 1:44Speaker 3: just felt like they were constantly in transition. Well, now
- 1:47Speaker 3: they've got Demiko Ryans, who is one of the bright
- 1:50Speaker 3: young coaches in the AFC, and CJ. Stroud has the
- 1:53Speaker 3: signs and showing all the signs of being an elite quarterback.
- 1:57Speaker 3: He's got that capability. So it feels real and there's
- 2:01Speaker 3: no reason for them to doubt themselves.
- 2:03Speaker 4: They just have to keep playing.
- 2:05Speaker 1: All right, let's go over our big things for this
- 2:07Speaker 1: Thursday on Jags Am be better. The team needs to
- 2:10Speaker 1: play better than they did in week two against the
- 2:12Speaker 1: Chiefs if they want to win and they can't have
- 2:13Speaker 1: a hangover. Part of the problem Doug Peterson said is
- 2:16Speaker 1: he didn't feel his team practiced very well last week,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and that's something taryor Lawrence talked about yesterday.
- 2:24Speaker 5: I agree, you know, we didn't. I think we were
- 2:26Speaker 5: flying around quite as good as we were, you know,
- 2:29Speaker 5: maybe the week before. And I think that's the adjustment
- 2:32Speaker 5: when you get in the season and when you play
- 2:33Speaker 5: these these long, physical games. You know, even take like
- 2:36Speaker 5: the Colts game in the first game, I was a physical, tough,
- 2:38Speaker 5: four quarter game, and you just got to get used
- 2:40Speaker 5: to bouncing back and being ready to go on Wednesday
- 2:42Speaker 5: Thursday for practice because you got to get the game
- 2:44Speaker 5: plan in. You got to get those reps to feel
- 2:46Speaker 5: good about it. And you know, I don't think we
- 2:47Speaker 5: did a great job necessarily last week of doing that,
- 2:49Speaker 5: especially on Wednesday. So that's the emphasis week. The guys
- 2:53Speaker 5: are ready to go. I think we're really locked in.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Guys are ready.
- 2:56Speaker 5: We got to bring some energy and get back on track.
- 2:58Speaker 1: There is something to be said for practicing like a
- 3:01Speaker 1: championship team, Brian. I know Doug talked about that, but
- 3:04Speaker 1: it's not something you take for granted. Not everybody knows
- 3:05Speaker 1: how to practice like that.
- 3:07Speaker 3: No, although I think these guys learned last year how
- 3:10Speaker 3: to practice as they went through that. I was I
- 3:13Speaker 3: was surprised when I heard that from Doug, and then
- 3:16Speaker 3: Trevor came up and said it, and everyone in the
- 3:18Speaker 3: locker room talked about it, but nobody mentioned it on Sunday.
- 3:21Speaker 3: You know, they kind of were pushed into a corner
- 3:23Speaker 3: where they had to admit that they didn't have quite
- 3:25Speaker 3: as good a week. The good news for them is
- 3:27Speaker 3: they had to admit it, they have to confront it,
- 3:30Speaker 3: and they have to work harder because everyone's looking.
- 3:31Speaker 2: At them now well human beings. I mean, you know,
- 3:35Speaker 2: they had a bad week, they had a bad game.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I kind of buy in a little more to Doug's
- 3:44Speaker 2: thoughts Monday when he talked about them pressing then I
- 3:47Speaker 2: do the bad practice. It just felt to me when
- 3:55Speaker 2: Doug and Trevor both talked about and even all the
- 3:57Speaker 2: players were talking about how just fisting so tight, holding
- 4:03Speaker 2: on you try to make a play. It's like when
- 4:07Speaker 2: you're behind in a baseball game, everybody's tying hit a
- 4:08Speaker 2: home run, right, That's what it's sort of felt like
- 4:11Speaker 2: and it made sense. Uh, the practice is it's fine.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I think you can overcome.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I hope that's it.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I hope you're right, because if if you're not, I mean,
- 4:20Speaker 3: if they just were human and didn't have a good week,
- 4:23Speaker 3: then you have to ask yourself, well, why with one
- 4:26Speaker 3: of the biggest games on your schedule and it's your
- 4:28Speaker 3: home opener and it's the Super Bowl champions do you
- 4:31Speaker 3: have a bad week?
- 4:32Speaker 4: Right? No one could explain it in the locker room issue,
- 4:34Speaker 4: So I hope it was just a.
- 4:36Speaker 3: A tightness a In fact, that's how I described it
- 4:39Speaker 3: on Monday. I hope that was the case, cause if
- 4:42Speaker 3: you can't get up for the Kansasity Chiefs and the
- 4:44Speaker 3: home opener and have a good week of practice, there's
- 4:46Speaker 3: a bigger question to ask.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Hopefully a mix of both. Maybe they just got a
- 4:49Speaker 1: little too excited for the game and took it. You know.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I don't think they were ill prepared necessarily, but they
- 4:55Speaker 1: definitely are gonna refocus this week at their practice. Second
- 4:58Speaker 1: big thing this week is hold the line. A lot
- 5:00Speaker 1: of the issues surrounding the offensive line injuries and then
- 5:03Speaker 1: just not being able to hold the line in their
- 5:06Speaker 1: game against the Chiefs. Now Talking to Trevor yesterday, he
- 5:09Speaker 1: said he's not concerned. He had some good meetings and
- 5:11Speaker 1: he thinks things will be better this week.
- 5:14Speaker 5: I know those guys are gonna we had some great
- 5:16Speaker 5: meetings this morning like we always do on Wednesdays, and
- 5:19Speaker 5: some of our protection stuff, and these guys are gonna
- 5:21Speaker 5: be just fine, not worried about it. You know, it's
- 5:23Speaker 5: all of us. It's all of us playing together and communicating.
- 5:26Speaker 5: And you know, I don't think any any player on
- 5:28Speaker 5: offense played anywhere close to their best game on Sunday,
- 5:31Speaker 5: So it's not just those guys. We all got to
- 5:34Speaker 5: be better and we will be. And I think we
- 5:36Speaker 5: have the group that recognizes that there's nobody that thinks
- 5:39Speaker 5: that they played great on Sunday and thinks that they're
- 5:41Speaker 5: above any anyone else. So we understand where we're at.
- 5:44Speaker 5: And I got a lot of confidence in those guys,
- 5:47Speaker 5: and we'll put together a great plan and be prepared,
- 5:49Speaker 5: and it starts today and they're gonna fly around.
- 5:51Speaker 4: We'll have a great practice.
- 5:52Speaker 1: John, how concerned should we be about the offensive line
- 5:55Speaker 1: right now?
- 5:55Speaker 2: Well, I'm not concerned over the long haul because I
- 6:01Speaker 2: believe it'll get fixed and with Cam Robbinson coming back
- 6:03Speaker 2: will help. I believe the guys who are playing it
- 6:07Speaker 2: just seems to me like in Anton, Harrison was playing
- 6:10Speaker 2: their shoulder in camp, walk a little, had a hip,
- 6:13Speaker 2: two ankles on garden center, Sheriff and Fortner and then
- 6:17Speaker 2: Bartch's coming back. Not to make excuses, but that's a
- 6:20Speaker 2: lot of stuff going on, and they just haven't felt
- 6:24Speaker 2: powerful or in cohesion. But I think Doug talked yesterday
- 6:27Speaker 2: about something. It's a very key point that people miss
- 6:31Speaker 2: offensive lines the hardest thing to get going because of
- 6:35Speaker 2: the cohesion. You don't have enough repster in training camp
- 6:38Speaker 2: because nobody hits like that anymore. So it usually gets
- 6:42Speaker 2: better as the season goes on. I think if they
- 6:44Speaker 2: stay healthy, get Cam back, that will start developing, because
- 6:48Speaker 2: frankly it did last year. It started off rough in
- 6:51Speaker 2: the first game and got better as it season went on.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I think Rosh is a good coach. I have no
- 6:55Speaker 2: reason to think it won't get solved. But if it doesn't,
- 6:57Speaker 2: it's back because that's hurt them in the first two weeks.
- 7:03Speaker 1: What do you think here?
- 7:04Speaker 3: He just said it all He's right, I mean, he
- 7:08Speaker 3: said it, he laid it out it. I think the
- 7:10Speaker 3: biggest takeaway that I had from yesterday's press conference was
- 7:13Speaker 3: there's not a lot of reps in the preseason, and
- 7:15Speaker 3: he played those guys in the Miami game to get
- 7:17Speaker 3: them some, but still felt the urge to get them
- 7:20Speaker 3: out before they got hurt. So there's none of that anymore.
- 7:23Speaker 3: They just got they gotta work their way into it.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Here's one thing to look forward to help is on
- 7:27Speaker 3: the way. You at least have a frontline starter in
- 7:30Speaker 3: Cam Robinson who's back in the building, who will be
- 7:33Speaker 3: able to play in week five. That will give you
- 7:35Speaker 3: some flexibility with the injuries, some flexibility where you feel
- 7:39Speaker 3: like you have some weaknesses. Maybe left guard, you could
- 7:41Speaker 3: move Walker a little inside. If Anthony Harrison's shoulder isn't better,
- 7:45Speaker 3: you know, you could move Walker little to right tackle.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So you've got some flexibility on the way. Most teams
- 7:50Speaker 3: don't have that.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Big thing for I almost left Brian speechless, speechless, like.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Here's where I'm going with this, and John just answered, okay.
- 8:01Speaker 1: All right. Our big thing three is lead the way.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That's about Trevor Lawrence Doug Pearson, speaking in his press conference,
- 8:06Speaker 1: the offense did struggle, but he said he has no
- 8:08Speaker 1: concerns about Trevor.
- 8:10Speaker 6: He's a type of type of guy that you know,
- 8:13Speaker 6: it bothers him when when he or the team doesn't
- 8:16Speaker 6: play well, it bothers him, and it bothers a lot
- 8:18Speaker 6: of guys, and you know, they I would say that
- 8:22Speaker 6: we didn't practice very well last week, you know, and
- 8:25Speaker 6: it starts there, starts in practice and being efficient and
- 8:29Speaker 6: and you know, we've got to have good days coming up.
- 8:33Speaker 6: But you know, this team's been resilient that way, and
- 8:36Speaker 6: they seem to respond, you know, to each other and
- 8:39Speaker 6: the kinds of adversity that we sort of bring on ourselves.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, there's something to be said about how you bounce
- 8:45Speaker 1: back from that adversity, Brian.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And in a very subtle way, Doug put his team
- 8:48Speaker 3: on notice. Yes, he didn't have to say in front
- 8:51Speaker 3: of the media yesterday that we didn't practice very well
- 8:53Speaker 3: last week, because that became the story. Right everyone's talking
- 8:56Speaker 3: about that now. But in a very subtle way, he
- 8:59Speaker 3: let him know, this is.
- 9:00Speaker 4: A performance based business.
- 9:02Speaker 3: We all are judged on the way that we work
- 9:04Speaker 3: all week long, and then it is to payoff on
- 9:06Speaker 3: the field, and so now everybody's gonna expect you to
- 9:09Speaker 3: have a great week of practice. I kind of like that.
- 9:11Speaker 2: He also said it in an answer about Trevor. I'm
- 9:14Speaker 2: not saying he was saying it about the quarterback, but
- 9:17Speaker 2: I think it was about that whole thing, and the
- 9:19Speaker 2: quarterback needs to lead that. Look, I'm not worried about Trevor,
- 9:24Speaker 2: I guess because if I was, the whole thing is
- 9:26Speaker 2: in shambles.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Yeah, so he's a cornerstone, but that's.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Not what this is. I don't I've never thought that
- 9:33Speaker 2: he is going to be an all time accuracy guy
- 9:38Speaker 2: every week with twenty four twenty five passing. I think
- 9:40Speaker 2: he's gonna have some misses, but he's going he's also
- 9:43Speaker 2: going to have runs where he is red hot. He
- 9:46Speaker 2: is such a good gamer, that's going to happen. I
- 9:49Speaker 2: just think, Look, if there are four toe tap touchdowns
- 9:55Speaker 2: that don't happen, and the guy's got Christian Kirk by
- 9:58Speaker 2: his ankle and Christians bou to get away on Sunday,
- 10:02Speaker 2: if those plays go another way, we're not panicking. It
- 10:05Speaker 2: was a game of inches game.
- 10:06Speaker 4: I think they're gonna be fine.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Well, back to the human part, I mean, you could
- 10:09Speaker 3: have a great week of practice and then have a
- 10:11Speaker 3: bad day, right, So we'll find out on Sunday, because
- 10:14Speaker 3: talking to guys in the locker room yesterday, they had
- 10:16Speaker 3: a good day on the practice field and they're planning,
- 10:18Speaker 3: they're expecting, they're holding each other accountable to have a
- 10:21Speaker 3: better day today.
- 10:23Speaker 4: So we'll see how that all works out.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I also think you know they had the ball, it's
- 10:29Speaker 3: at the red zone with five minutes left in a
- 10:31Speaker 3: chance to win.
- 10:32Speaker 4: They came up short.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Right, don't just start flushing and getting rid of things.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Figure out how to take what you got and make
- 10:39Speaker 4: it work better. And that's what this week is about.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Absolutely, all right, stay with us. We're gonna move ahead
- 10:44Speaker 1: and then we'll preview the matchup against the Texans as
- 10:46Speaker 1: we do a deep dot coming up after and break.
- 10:52Speaker 1: All right, Well back here in dag Dam Studio on
- 10:54Speaker 1: this Thursday, and we're gonna talk Texans. Now, we've been
- 10:57Speaker 1: talking so much about the Chiefs in that game, we've
- 10:59Speaker 1: turned the pain. We gotta look at the Texans and
- 11:01Speaker 1: we can't overlook the Texans as well. Watched some of
- 11:04Speaker 1: their media availability and we're gonna go over some of
- 11:06Speaker 1: the sound bites now because CJ. Stroud really does sell
- 11:08Speaker 1: all the right things. We've obviously in Jacksonville seen what
- 11:11Speaker 1: a rookie quarterback looks like when they come in and
- 11:14Speaker 1: you know, maybe it wasn't great the year before and
- 11:15Speaker 1: they're trying to rebuild something. They have a new co coach,
- 11:17Speaker 1: a new quarterback. And one of the things Stroud said
- 11:21Speaker 1: that I really took to point was he wants to
- 11:23Speaker 1: make others around him better. And he told a little
- 11:25Speaker 1: bit of a story of how he got to that
- 11:27Speaker 1: point in his career.
- 11:29Speaker 7: What does it mean to play quarterback?
- 11:31Speaker 4: Like what is like?
- 11:32Speaker 1: What?
- 11:32Speaker 4: What?
- 11:33Speaker 7: What's like your job? And I'm like to make plays?
- 11:37Speaker 7: I don't know, like you know what I'm saying, like,
- 11:38Speaker 7: and I said, to be a leader. He's like, yeahs right,
- 11:41Speaker 7: Like being a leader, making players all that stuff is great.
- 11:43Speaker 7: But he was like, your your main jobs and make
- 11:44Speaker 7: people around you better, like on the field and off.
- 11:47Speaker 7: And I took that to heart and ever since that moment, like,
- 11:50Speaker 7: I'm dedicated a lot of time, a lot of effort,
- 11:53Speaker 7: a lot of uh like mental capacity, a lot of
- 11:56Speaker 7: energy to that cause. And I told myself I would
- 11:59Speaker 7: never go back, and I will never We're great. Not
- 12:04Speaker 7: doing everything.
- 12:05Speaker 1: That's a helplessness. You can't teach all the time, and
- 12:07Speaker 1: I think for him to understand that at the young
- 12:09Speaker 1: age that he is, that's imposed well for him in
- 12:11Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he's impressive and like a lot of quarterbacks who
- 12:14Speaker 3: play at the highest level of college football, playing at
- 12:16Speaker 3: Ohio State puts him in front of the media a lot.
- 12:19Speaker 3: And clearly he has been well coached and whoever besides
- 12:23Speaker 3: coaching right parents' mentors.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I mean, he's very calm.
- 12:27Speaker 3: He's an impressive young man.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they're impressed with him. They think they've got their
- 12:31Speaker 2: franchise guy. In terms of this game, the thing that
- 12:36Speaker 2: maybe the Jaguars can be a little optimistic about.
- 12:38Speaker 4: He hasn't done a pick yet.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And he's been under pressure, Yeah, a lot of pressure.
- 12:42Speaker 2: The percentages on that sort of start running out at
- 12:45Speaker 2: some point, he's gonna make a mistake. This is a
- 12:48Speaker 2: team that forces turnovers, the Jaguars. You wonder if the
- 12:51Speaker 2: rubber meets the road on that this week. That's what
- 12:54Speaker 2: I think the Jaguars are trying to get to.
- 12:57Speaker 4: And I think they will well, and they don't.
- 12:58Speaker 3: The Texans at this moment in time, don't have that
- 13:00Speaker 3: game breaking alpha receiver like a Calvin Ridley who can
- 13:03Speaker 3: get down the field and strike fear into your secondary,
- 13:06Speaker 3: which means they'll probably feel more willing to take chances
- 13:10Speaker 3: on some balls to make plays.
- 13:12Speaker 1: We'll have to see as far as the scouting reports.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Stroud went on to say he knows a lot about
- 13:15Speaker 1: the Jacksonville defense. Here's what he had to say.
- 13:19Speaker 7: First and foremost, their D line UH uh forty four
- 13:23Speaker 7: and forty one great players, set the age, run around
- 13:27Speaker 7: play well. Their D line really style, really big, and
- 13:30Speaker 7: their linebackers twenty three thirty three actually played against Uh
- 13:34Speaker 7: Devin and uh college two really good players not only
- 13:37Speaker 7: in in run run in the run game, but also
- 13:40Speaker 7: on pass coverage. UH thirty two Campbell, he's a really
- 13:42Speaker 7: good DV Cisco UH somethow I know personally he's a
- 13:47Speaker 7: good dude, UH, very aggressive, very uh good in coverage,
- 13:51Speaker 7: but also is is constantly making good tackles. Same thing
- 13:55Speaker 7: with two. And then thirty seven comes in plays and
- 13:57Speaker 7: Nickel plays really well. Thirty one's a solid corner. So
- 14:01Speaker 7: I don't I don't want to name drop. I know
- 14:02Speaker 7: all their names too, but sorry, but not a great
- 14:07Speaker 7: defense all the way around, and.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Didn't want name check anybody, but he basically name dropped
- 14:12Speaker 1: everybody started defense. So I was impressed. How much of
- 14:15Speaker 1: it comes to studying early on and getting those habits, John,
- 14:19Speaker 1: when you're a rookie, understanding what it takes to be
- 14:21Speaker 1: a good quarterback.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Well, any quarterback and coach. When you start talking about
- 14:26Speaker 2: the details of quarterbacking, we'll talk about whether a guy
- 14:29Speaker 2: knows how to study film or not. Most quarterbacks don't
- 14:33Speaker 2: come into the league knowing how to study at a
- 14:36Speaker 2: high level. I don't know if you know he destruct
- 14:39Speaker 2: he studies, does he yet know how to prepare at
- 14:44Speaker 2: the highest level. Probably not, because it's a learned skill.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But when you're putting that sort of effort into it,
- 14:51Speaker 2: if you're coached correctly, eventually effort and the coaching, the
- 14:54Speaker 2: teaching yield a very intelligent quarterback. H All invcasion kids on.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Her way well, and look, he took the time to
- 15:04Speaker 3: be able to go through the list and share it
- 15:07Speaker 3: with the local media. They're in Houston, which is impressive enough.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I can't say enough about the kid.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I like him. I liked him at Ohio State.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I think he's going to be a very good player,
- 15:18Speaker 3: and I think the AFC South has a great chance
- 15:21Speaker 3: to be a great quarterback division for years to come.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I know we talked a little bit about it yesterday,
- 15:25Speaker 1: but he really seems like of the other rookie quarterbacks
- 15:28Speaker 1: in the division, he's the one that you kind of
- 15:30Speaker 1: see it already forming with him, even if it's just
- 15:33Speaker 1: two games in right now.
- 15:34Speaker 3: He had a lot more experience with the ball in
- 15:36Speaker 3: his hand than Anthony Richardson. And I think Richard had
- 15:38Speaker 3: what thirteen games, three hundred passing attempts in his college career,
- 15:42Speaker 3: and this kid put the ball all over the place,
- 15:44Speaker 3: and he was accustomed to having great receivers. I mean,
- 15:47Speaker 3: just look at the list, Chris Olavey, Garrett Wilson, Jackson
- 15:51Speaker 3: Smith and Jigba and of course Harrison who's there now.
- 15:55Speaker 3: So I mean he's a guy who understands the intricacies
- 15:58Speaker 3: of the passing game. At some point point in time,
- 16:00Speaker 3: when he's got weapons in Houston talking about shootout.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Right, he stands in the pocket and there's the ball
- 16:07Speaker 2: the right people, and that gets you a long way.
- 16:10Speaker 2: And he seems like he's gonna get get to get better.
- 16:13Speaker 2: As somebody said yesterday, if you're gonna get this team,
- 16:15Speaker 2: you better get him now.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Better for sure.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Tamiko Ryan's first year head coach there. He's a new
- 16:20Speaker 1: sheriff in town. Doesn't like to give away too too much,
- 16:22Speaker 1: but he did say that Calvin Ridle is someone that's
- 16:24Speaker 1: gonna be a problem for them to try to cover.
- 16:27Speaker 8: Calvin is an explosive playmaker, right he's wherever he catches
- 16:31Speaker 8: the ball, you have to be ready. He's dynamic with
- 16:33Speaker 8: the ball in his hands, really great hands on the
- 16:36Speaker 8: on the perimeter of the defense. But he can also
- 16:38Speaker 8: take those short passes that we talked about. He can
- 16:40Speaker 8: go to the house. So when it comes to tackling,
- 16:42Speaker 8: we have.
- 16:42Speaker 4: To be on it.
- 16:44Speaker 8: Make sure we're playing great fundamental ball outside ins and
- 16:48Speaker 8: making him cut back inside. But Calvin is explosive, he's fast,
- 16:51Speaker 8: he's dynamic with the ball in his hands, and it'll
- 16:53Speaker 8: be a tough matchup for us.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Brian John, we were just talking about some of the
- 16:57Speaker 1: injuries the team's dealing with. Brian, do you feel like
- 16:59Speaker 1: Calvin can have a big day based on what the
- 17:01Speaker 1: Houston Yeah, it's going to deal with.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Based on the injury report.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah, both those safeties and Jallen Petrie is a really
- 17:07Speaker 3: good player who you would think would be somewhere in
- 17:09Speaker 3: the vicinity of zero on the Jaguars uniform. Whether he
- 17:13Speaker 3: plays or not, it is a big question mark.
- 17:14Speaker 4: I don't think he practiced yesterday.
- 17:16Speaker 3: So you're talking about a team that is set up
- 17:20Speaker 3: for the Jaguars to be able to go and do
- 17:23Speaker 3: what they do at a much higher level than they
- 17:25Speaker 3: did last week. Just a quick thought on Demico Ryant.
- 17:27Speaker 3: He was a really good football player. He played for
- 17:29Speaker 3: the Texans as a linebacker. Obviously, talking to people in
- 17:33Speaker 3: San Francisco in the offseason, this is a guy who
- 17:36Speaker 3: players loved playing for and you can see by his energy,
- 17:41Speaker 3: the way that he the words that he uses that
- 17:44Speaker 3: players are going to love playing for him. In Houston,
- 17:46Speaker 3: they finally have their guy.
- 17:49Speaker 2: This team they're on the way they feel like they
- 17:54Speaker 2: have put together. In terms of this week, the question
- 17:56Speaker 2: you asked Brian, anything the receivers have a chance to
- 17:59Speaker 2: have game. The issue is to me is not so
- 18:02Speaker 2: much the secondary. Can the Jaguars get their front blocked.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I think once they get the front blocked, the story
- 18:10Speaker 2: every week is going to be more about the Jaguars receivers.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I don't think there's a secondary that can do a
- 18:15Speaker 2: great job on this team if Trevor has time to throw.
- 18:18Speaker 2: So I think that's the key matchup on that side
- 18:22Speaker 2: of the ball.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Worried about our line, but we do want to mention
- 18:25Speaker 1: Houston's O line has had some issues as well, John
- 18:27Speaker 1: because Stroud's already been sacked eleven times in two games.
- 18:31Speaker 1: So is that partly him being quarterback? Is that line
- 18:34Speaker 1: play rookie quarterback? Is that line players?
- 18:36Speaker 4: It combo both?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't watched their games enough to know what
- 18:40Speaker 2: it is. They are beat up on the offensive line,
- 18:44Speaker 2: they're strow on the offensive line.
- 18:45Speaker 4: I don't.
- 18:48Speaker 2: My sense is this is not a Stroud issue. It's
- 18:50Speaker 2: an injury issue and it's where they're weak. So to me,
- 18:54Speaker 2: this is the matchup that most favors the Jaguars is
- 18:58Speaker 2: defensive front versus Texans offensive front, and it's one that
- 19:02Speaker 2: a team that's rushing the passer pretty well is here
- 19:04Speaker 2: in the day.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Wars ought to take advantage of it.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Well.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Larry Tunschel, who's their best offensive m and didn't play
- 19:08Speaker 3: last week and is questionable for this week. I would
- 19:10Speaker 3: imagine and Tyas Howard. Their right tackle is on injury reserve.
- 19:14Speaker 3: So I mean, when you're going into the season, we're
- 19:15Speaker 3: go into a game with your top two offensive tackles down.
- 19:18Speaker 4: That puts you in a huge hole.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Definitely troublesome. We'll see how things go on Sunday, coming
- 19:23Speaker 1: up with us. Stay with us here, because we're gonna
- 19:24Speaker 1: go over he will, he won't, he might for this
- 19:26Speaker 1: week's matchup against the Texans. All right, we got our
- 19:35Speaker 1: second divisional matchup of the year already, it's week three.
- 19:38Speaker 1: We're gonna go with he will, he won't, he might.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Brian will start with you.
- 19:42Speaker 4: I took Devin Lloyd because he's coming off a terrific game.
- 19:45Speaker 3: He had eleven tackles and was all over the field,
- 19:48Speaker 3: So I think he will be the dominant defender on
- 19:51Speaker 3: Sunday against the Texans. He just looks like he's starting
- 19:55Speaker 3: to figure it out and get into that rhythm. You know,
- 19:57Speaker 3: we thought we saw it in training camp. We thought
- 19:59Speaker 3: we saw it during the pre but we didn't see
- 20:01Speaker 3: enough of it. Obviously, he's a starter. I think we
- 20:04Speaker 3: will see it on Sunday.
- 20:06Speaker 4: He won't. I don't think look lost again.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I mean he's just got this thing now, has figured
- 20:12Speaker 3: it out. But he might be a guy who gets
- 20:15Speaker 3: a sack and an interception on Sunday against the Texans
- 20:19Speaker 3: because the rookie quarterback, as John mentioned, is due to
- 20:23Speaker 3: throw not just one pick but one of those multiple
- 20:26Speaker 3: meltdown sort of games. And he's been under pressure and
- 20:28Speaker 3: Devin is equal parts rush the passer and drop back
- 20:33Speaker 3: into coverage. So I think this could set up to
- 20:35Speaker 3: be his kind of game.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Johnny Going was sixteen right before. He really won't he
- 20:38Speaker 1: mate this week?
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And we usually try to dig a little deeper bit.
- 20:41Speaker 2: He's a storyline. He is, he will.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I think he will have time.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know that everything that happened last
- 20:50Speaker 2: week was all a sixteen issue. It was cumulative. It
- 20:54Speaker 2: seemed off with the receivers, the offensive last show. I
- 20:57Speaker 2: think the line will give him time this week. He
- 21:00Speaker 2: won't worry about the past. He's always been pretty good
- 21:02Speaker 2: at bouncing back. He handles everything all right. He's under
- 21:05Speaker 2: a little bit of criticism, probably a little personal pressure.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I can't play that way in he handles that sort
- 21:10Speaker 2: of thing fine, And he might and almost went with
- 21:13Speaker 2: a second he will, but it's kind of a confining thing.
- 21:19Speaker 4: So he might. He will.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I think he'll have a I have a big game,
- 21:25Speaker 2: a couple of touchdowns. I don't care to say about
- 21:27Speaker 2: his touchdown passes, but I think he'll get this offense
- 21:30Speaker 2: going in the right direction. I think it'll feel better.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Maybe not great because the Texans are a good defense,
- 21:36Speaker 2: but there will be signs after the game of okay,
- 21:38Speaker 2: this is going in the right direction, but.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Hopefully a big bounce back day for everybody on offense.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I went defense though, because I went Traymon Walker for
- 21:45Speaker 1: he will, he want? He might. I think he will
- 21:47Speaker 1: have a day because, as we mentioned, c J. Stroud
- 21:50Speaker 1: has been sacked eleven times already the season. I think
- 21:53Speaker 1: Trayvon Walker will sack him on Sunday, and I think
- 21:56Speaker 1: he won't have any issues with the offensive line. We
- 21:58Speaker 1: mentioned a lot of there. We our offensive line we're
- 22:00Speaker 1: worried about, but Texans offensive line has a lot bigger
- 22:03Speaker 1: issues as they've allowed that many sacks so far this year,
- 22:05Speaker 1: and of course they're dealing with injuries as well. And
- 22:08Speaker 1: he might lead the team in sacks after this game.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I'm not really sure, but I think he might be
- 22:13Speaker 1: able to out do Josh. I know Josh is still
- 22:15Speaker 1: dealing with that shoulder injury. I think if Trayvon has
- 22:17Speaker 1: a big day, like we saw what the pass rush
- 22:19Speaker 1: was able to do against another rookie quarterback in Anthony Richardson,
- 22:22Speaker 1: if Trayvon goes off, he might might jump his way
- 22:25Speaker 1: up the line.
- 22:26Speaker 3: And if Trayvon goes off, he might make it a
- 22:27Speaker 3: lot easier on Josh when he does get his pass
- 22:29Speaker 3: rushes in and Calebon chas on who came alive last week.
- 22:33Speaker 3: This is Calebon's hometown team, so maybe he can build
- 22:36Speaker 3: and put together back to back strong performances.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I don't think anybody would be mad about that if
- 22:40Speaker 1: we got some production out of Kalebon.
- 22:42Speaker 4: By the way, it's Walker Libble's hometown team.
- 22:44Speaker 1: We have a bunch of Texas guys.
- 22:45Speaker 3: And those two guys played together at Episcopal High in Houston.
- 22:48Speaker 3: They were high school teammates.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Oh very cool.
- 22:49Speaker 1: We love a fun fact wonderful stay with us, So
- 22:52Speaker 1: I'm out We're gonna go around the locker room right
- 22:54Speaker 1: before we give our predictions for the Sunday's game. Jags fans,

- 23:11Speaker 1: chair is furniture for fans.
- 23:15Speaker 9: That sucks.
- 23:17Speaker 1: You know.
- 23:18Speaker 10: As a offense, we we wanna be the best. I mean,
- 23:21Speaker 10: we wanna move the ball in when you go in
- 23:24Speaker 10: the game like that and the defense plays like that
- 23:26Speaker 10: versus the you know, the super Bowl champs and the
- 23:29Speaker 10: offense that we're supposed to be. You know, I tell
- 23:32Speaker 10: you right now, all of us on offense, the starters,
- 23:34Speaker 10: we we were pissed off about that performance and that
- 23:38Speaker 10: we couldn't come through for the for the for the team.
- 23:40Speaker 9: As you know, the offense. Whatever we're not, we know
- 23:43Speaker 9: the officers gonna handle what they need to handle and
- 23:45Speaker 9: once once that time comes, we're gonna be rolling. And uh,
- 23:49Speaker 9: you know that's what we're really really excited about. Defensively,
- 23:51Speaker 9: we have to keep up, keep it up, and uh,
- 23:54Speaker 9: we keep putting ourselves in positions.
- 23:55Speaker 4: To get the ball back to offense.
- 23:57Speaker 1: No sense of panic in that locker room. I think
- 23:59Speaker 1: everybody's a that things will get back on track this
- 24:02Speaker 1: week and hopefully the offense will look like what we
- 24:05Speaker 1: expected them to look like before the season started. So
- 24:08Speaker 1: let's go through our picks who you guys got this
- 24:10Speaker 1: weekend Against the Texans in Week three.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I think the Jaguars win. I think it may be
- 24:16Speaker 2: a little similar to Week one in the sense that
- 24:19Speaker 2: you know, I'm not big on predicting blowouts in the
- 24:21Speaker 2: NFL because I think it doesn't happen all that.
- 24:23Speaker 4: The team blown.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Out often has to make unforced mistakes. To have that happen,
- 24:29Speaker 2: you have to have a bagging to get a blow
- 24:30Speaker 2: But I do think you can win convincingly and impressively,
- 24:35Speaker 2: and I think the Jaguars will win something on lines
- 24:37Speaker 2: of you know, twenty eight thirty to maybe fourteen and
- 24:42Speaker 2: feel really good about it.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I think what you'll feel, John is that they'll be
- 24:45Speaker 3: in control, right, They'll come out, they'll handle business, they'll
- 24:48Speaker 3: score early. You know, they'll keep them at arm's length
- 24:51Speaker 3: the whole way through the game because they're a better team,
- 24:54Speaker 3: they are more healthy, or they're playing at home and
- 24:57Speaker 3: as you just trick Calvinsator pissed off.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yep, it's fair to expect them to do that.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I think, yeah, absolutely, and I think we should set
- 25:04Speaker 1: the bar high for them always and definitely a bounce
- 25:07Speaker 1: back week for them. I'm going to go. I think
- 25:09Speaker 1: twenty ten is what I'm going to go to because
- 25:11Speaker 1: I hope the defense can. They've they've shown that they
- 25:14Speaker 1: can handle a workie quarterback, and I think with stroudstaying
- 25:16Speaker 1: in the pocket, they might have a really good week.
- 25:18Speaker 3: And you know, both of you just picked it twenty
- 25:20Speaker 3: eight or more points right on week that they're coming
- 25:22Speaker 3: off of not scoring a single touchdown. I think that's
- 25:26Speaker 3: the expectation, right. We've seen enough of this offense. We
- 25:29Speaker 3: understand what's there. So if that's what we're saying, now,
- 25:32Speaker 3: you understand why there's a confident in the locker room
- 25:34Speaker 3: when you hear a guy like Josh allency. We're not
- 25:35Speaker 3: worried about them.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Their confidence makes us confident.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Well, I mean, there was a time around here where
- 25:40Speaker 3: twenty eight point seemed like an intermountable obstacle. It's kind
- 25:44Speaker 3: of interesting to not be in that position anymore.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Times are good, for sure, all right. Sunday's matchup against
- 25:48Speaker 1: the Texans is brought to you by Renewal by Anderson
