- 0:00Speaker 1: And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: All right, here we go. Week nine is in the books,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and we are back here with you on another episode
- 0:11Speaker 1: of Move the Sticks. What's up, friends, Great to be
- 0:14Speaker 1: back here with you. Red Lewis, Bucky Brooks, Daniel Jeremiah,
- 0:17Speaker 1: still on root back from Netlife Stadium, where let's just
- 0:24Speaker 1: say offense was challenging last night between the Jets and
- 0:30Speaker 1: the Chargers, and let's kick this thing off here Bucky
- 0:33Speaker 1: by getting to our Monday night football recap, and let's
- 0:37Speaker 1: just say the pass abilities are not endless for the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Jets offense. They are, in fact, very minimal. And if
- 0:44Speaker 1: it's not Garret Wilson in the past game, it feels
- 0:49Speaker 1: like it's not working. And they couldn't even run the
- 0:50Speaker 1: ball last night. Either offensive line struggled and I felt
- 0:54Speaker 1: like we wasted a really good defensive effort.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're Roberts Soliman, you you're just upset because
- 1:01Speaker 2: this is a game where defensively you played well enough
- 1:03Speaker 2: to give yourself a chance to win. Offensively, you couldn't
- 1:06Speaker 2: get it going, you couldn't run the ball. You turn
- 1:08Speaker 2: it over three times in the first quarter, didn't give
- 1:11Speaker 2: yourself a chance, gave up a big pup return for
- 1:13Speaker 2: a touchdown, which normally equates to losing. In the passing games,
- 1:17Speaker 2: Zach Wilson didn't have enough time to really make plays,
- 1:20Speaker 2: so we can't even really talk about is he or
- 1:23Speaker 2: isn't he. He didn't have a chance because he always
- 1:26Speaker 2: had a defender sitting in his lap. Just a bad performance,
- 1:30Speaker 2: a poor performance from a Jets offense that is still
- 1:33Speaker 2: trying to figure out who they are, what they are
- 1:36Speaker 2: and how they can get it done. Just unperformed on
- 1:39Speaker 2: a major stage.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And yeah, I think that's that's a good point. And
- 1:42Speaker 1: to be fair, you know, the Jets offensive line, which
- 1:45Speaker 1: you know, at full strength is you know, probably not
- 1:49Speaker 1: amongst the best in the league. But when it's not
- 1:52Speaker 1: at full strength and missing you know, two three starters,
- 1:55Speaker 1: Arry Tucker Al Beckton had to kick over the left tackle.
- 1:58Speaker 1: If you have the last couple of weeks, man, it
- 2:00Speaker 1: was trouble. You know, you had two Y two yek
- 2:02Speaker 1: Poloto with two sacks, Boso with two, Khalil Knack with
- 2:06Speaker 1: two the turnovers. The strip sacks Now the one thing
- 2:09Speaker 1: that Zach Wilson can do and if you were watching
- 2:11Speaker 1: the Manning cast last night, you know, Hayden was let's
- 2:14Speaker 1: just say, very frustrated with the ball security within the
- 2:18Speaker 1: confines of the pocket Bucky. And that does go back
- 2:21Speaker 1: to fundamentals.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it goes back to fundamentals. And he's always been
- 2:25Speaker 2: a guy that is more of a gun slinger when
- 2:27Speaker 2: it comes to the way that he played the position.
- 2:29Speaker 2: If we do it in basketball urnams, he's more of
- 2:31Speaker 2: a score than a natural shooter. He finds a way
- 2:33Speaker 2: to get baskets. But it's not always tech book. The
- 2:37Speaker 2: thing about that when you have someone who is very
- 2:39Speaker 2: loose with the football and very loose in how he
- 2:41Speaker 2: plays with zad Wilson hard to build a game plan,
- 2:44Speaker 2: how to build a playbook around him. And if you're
- 2:46Speaker 2: not good enough upfront to keep everyone at bay and
- 2:49Speaker 2: you don't have the weapons on the outside where you
- 2:51Speaker 2: can win a bunch of one on one matchups, it
- 2:53Speaker 2: just makes his life tough because he's trying to buy time, escape,
- 2:57Speaker 2: run around, keep the plays alive until someone can uncover.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But it takes a long time for these guys to uncover.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, I mean, like even on that
- 3:06Speaker 1: last you know, the second to last drive. The last drive,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you're just popping those checkdowns to Michael Carter, you know,
- 3:12Speaker 1: like they're going out of style, and you know, you
- 3:14Speaker 1: just they're just there wasn't those explosive plays that they
- 3:16Speaker 1: really needed, It certainly felt like. And then you know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: on the flip side, you know, the Jets aren't the
- 3:22Speaker 1: only one you know, that that can wear something offensively
- 3:25Speaker 1: here in this So Justin Herbert did not have a
- 3:27Speaker 1: Herbert like performance here. It was barely over fifty percent
- 3:31Speaker 1: completion in this game. And this Chargers offense now has
- 3:37Speaker 1: not quite performed the way that we expected it to.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You know, in that times it has certainly, but you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks it's been a little different.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Look, it's been a lot different for the Charges
- 3:50Speaker 2: team because now what is happening. The tape on the
- 3:53Speaker 2: Charges has circulated around the league. Before early in the year,
- 3:57Speaker 2: you were trying to piece meal what Killing more to
- 4:00Speaker 2: do from his time at Dallas and what Justin Herbert
- 4:03Speaker 2: likes to do from his time being in the league
- 4:05Speaker 2: with the Chargers. Now we have enough evidence of watching
- 4:08Speaker 2: these two work together. Teams are beginning to understand the
- 4:11Speaker 2: concepts they like any tendencies that may show up when
- 4:15Speaker 2: they're beginning to study both of these these guys and
- 4:19Speaker 2: they're beginning to have a great understanding of the personnel.
- 4:21Speaker 2: That said, his disposal, is Kennan Allen able to go?
- 4:25Speaker 2: If he is Ellen Gill?
- 4:25Speaker 1: What does he provided?
- 4:26Speaker 2: What does Mike Williams do? How they wenna use Quinn Johnson?
- 4:28Speaker 2: And it goes down a list. They have performed better
- 4:32Speaker 2: against the Charges because they have a better understanding of
- 4:35Speaker 2: how they want to play, and because they had that
- 4:37Speaker 2: understanding and they're beginning to make costs, it really disrupts
- 4:40Speaker 2: the way the Charges want to play.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So when we look at this now with both of
- 4:43Speaker 1: these teams sitting at four and four, the Chargers obviously
- 4:47Speaker 1: with the with the win in this one twenty seven
- 4:49Speaker 1: to six, move into the tenth spot in the AFC.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So both teams definitely still on the outside looking in,
- 4:55Speaker 1: but it's pretty clear, you know, you'd have more confidence
- 4:58Speaker 1: in what the Chargers are able to do right now
- 5:00Speaker 1: because of the quarterback situation. Whereas we heard again what
- 5:03Speaker 1: was it postgame or pregame? You know, guys going up
- 5:07Speaker 1: to Aaron Rodgers. Hey, we know it was dertw with
- 5:09Speaker 1: James after the game comes up and says, hey, you
- 5:12Speaker 1: know when we're going to see you again? He says,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know, a few weeks, which again would be crazy,
- 5:18Speaker 1: But at this point, you know, when when does it
- 5:20Speaker 1: become like a lost cause for the Jets and for
- 5:23Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers to try to get this thing back and
- 5:26Speaker 1: can they hold serve now based on what we're seeing
- 5:29Speaker 1: with this offensive line with Zach Wilson, you know, when
- 5:32Speaker 1: they can't have it going on offense the way they
- 5:35Speaker 1: need to.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Well, look, I think it is probably situation critical. You
- 5:40Speaker 2: probably have about four weeks before he has to go
- 5:43Speaker 2: into the mix. You got to give him a chance
- 5:44Speaker 2: to have an impact on the game. And the biggest
- 5:46Speaker 2: impact that you can have is you win the one
- 5:48Speaker 2: that he's playing, He'll win the next one, and then
- 5:51Speaker 2: you're hoping that the league does with solid and some
- 5:53Speaker 2: gays kind of come back to the pack. It's a
- 5:56Speaker 2: really interesting situation scenario when we look at this team
- 6:01Speaker 2: and how this team wants to get down. But look,
- 6:04Speaker 2: it's gonna take a while for the Jets to kind
- 6:06Speaker 2: of get back on top, and they're going to need
- 6:08Speaker 2: more than Aaron Rodgers coming back, They're going to need
- 6:10Speaker 2: the defense to play like the first team defense and
- 6:13Speaker 2: the second team offense where they are scoring points on
- 6:16Speaker 2: these hidden phases of the game offensively, they won't be
- 6:19Speaker 2: able to score enough points to get in them.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So just looking at the next couple of games here
- 6:25Speaker 1: for the Jets, They're gonna go to Las Vegas on
- 6:27Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football to take on you know, a definitely
- 6:33Speaker 1: new look Raiders team with Todio Pierce running the show
- 6:36Speaker 1: there at head coach. Then they got to go to
- 6:38Speaker 1: Buffalo to take on the Bills. Look, the Bills have
- 6:40Speaker 1: been up and down this year, but certainly capable of
- 6:43Speaker 1: winning that game. And then the Dolphins, you know, with
- 6:47Speaker 1: the explosive ability that they have, can get the Jets
- 6:50Speaker 1: score enough points to keep pace there. And then Atlanta,
- 6:52Speaker 1: Houston and Miami again. So if you're talking about you know,
- 6:56Speaker 1: mid December as a potential spot for Aaron Rodgers to
- 7:00Speaker 1: come back, I mean, you've at least got to win
- 7:03Speaker 1: three of your next five. It feels like to have
- 7:06Speaker 1: a shot. And so we'll see if the Jets can
- 7:08Speaker 1: ultimately get that done. Okay, let's move it on here
- 7:13Speaker 1: as we get to our rookie draft and boy Bucky on.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Oh you know the old goose egg.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Not great for you there, pal, But you know the
- 7:27Speaker 1: good news is you guys decided at the last second
- 7:29Speaker 1: to bring back the quarterbacks into the mix. And you know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: clearly I was rolling with my guy CJ. Stroud, So
- 7:36Speaker 1: that got me the three. We talked about that on
- 7:38Speaker 1: the pot on Monday. Jordan Addison also gets me three
- 7:41Speaker 1: from the receiver spot. So you know, I'm just curious
- 7:46Speaker 1: because obviously I wasn't here last week, Bucky, how did DJ?
- 7:50Speaker 1: Did DJ really appreciate my nine point outing from last
- 7:54Speaker 1: week that now has me all the way up at
- 7:57Speaker 1: number two, two points behind him in the standing seat.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I just want to know did he appreciate that fully?
- 8:03Speaker 2: He didn't appreciate it. But much like Big Ten officials
- 8:07Speaker 2: are trying to figure out what to do with Michigan,
- 8:09Speaker 2: I am trying to figure out what to do with
- 8:11Speaker 2: you with these late ads, these clandestine texts that are
- 8:15Speaker 2: going to draw where he's picking guys that are maybe
- 8:18Speaker 2: on or off the board, and you know, we're kind
- 8:21Speaker 2: of stealing signs along the way. So we're just trying
- 8:23Speaker 2: to figure out how all of a sudden, Rhett, who
- 8:26Speaker 2: was last, is really closed the gap and it's close
- 8:29Speaker 2: to being first. I just don't understand like some of
- 8:31Speaker 2: the new rules that are kind of in play, because
- 8:34Speaker 2: I thought were talking about quarterbacks one week, then quarterbacks
- 8:36Speaker 2: are not on the board, but then they're back on
- 8:38Speaker 2: the board. Just need clarity, just clarity, ecnsigency so we
- 8:42Speaker 2: can play within the rules and kind of figure out
- 8:43Speaker 2: a way to be able to get it right.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Well, look, as a you know, as a really good,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you know, head football coach like you are, Bucky, I mean,
- 8:52Speaker 1: you know, you got to be flexible and you've got
- 8:54Speaker 1: to be willing to figure out a way to maximize
- 8:57Speaker 1: your team's ability. And that that's what I think has
- 9:00Speaker 1: ultimately been lacking for you these last couple of weeks.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I have no doubt you're going to get things back
- 9:05Speaker 1: on track. It just might be too little, too late.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But the good news is, but you do have the
- 9:10Speaker 1: first pick in this week's draft, So it's gonna go Bucky,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and then it's gonna come to me. And then producer
- 9:18Speaker 1: Drew has DJ's pre rankings of his rookies for this week,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and so we will get DJ back to back picks
- 9:27Speaker 1: at three and four and then it'll swing back and
- 9:29Speaker 1: snake as it usually does. So this is what we're
- 9:31Speaker 1: doing this week. We're going quarterback, We're going running back,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and then you have the choice on the pass catcher,
- 9:37Speaker 1: can go receiver or tight end. Let's get the buys
- 9:40Speaker 1: out here, Bucky, and just make sure we're all on
- 9:43Speaker 1: the same page here, No pokinakua. This week. The Rams
- 9:46Speaker 1: are on a buy and let's see who else is
- 9:49Speaker 1: on the bye. We've got the Dolphins on a bye,
- 9:52Speaker 1: the Chiefs and the Eagles. So wow, some star power
- 9:57Speaker 1: on the sidelines here this week. In week ten, Sorry, Bucky,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you are up pick number one of the draft. Where
- 10:03Speaker 1: you head it?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna go with the biggest star in the
- 10:07Speaker 2: league right now. The young c J. Stroud will now
- 10:11Speaker 2: come on to Team BB and they'll try and help
- 10:13Speaker 2: me get out of this rut. And they're playing better
- 10:15Speaker 2: because CJ. Stroud is look dealing. He's dealing from the pocket.
- 10:18Speaker 2: You have a lot of confidence that he's always gonna
- 10:20Speaker 2: keep your team in the mix. When Lama bestowed the
- 10:22Speaker 2: same confidence on him, he is going to help me
- 10:25Speaker 2: climb out of the cellar and get back to being
- 10:28Speaker 2: a very very competitive team.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Okay, So that brings me up here at number two.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So Bucky going with Stroud certainly a good choice there
- 10:38Speaker 1: with the number one pick. Now, this is kind of
- 10:39Speaker 1: interesting here because there's some tough matchups this week. Stroud
- 10:42Speaker 1: going against the Bengals by the way, tough defense, and
- 10:45Speaker 1: lou Ana Rimo over there. There's any number of rookies
- 10:47Speaker 1: that could ultimately end up starting this week. Although I
- 10:51Speaker 1: think Clayton Tune is down and so Kyler Murray is
- 10:53Speaker 1: gonna start for the Cardinals this week. I'm not gonna
- 10:57Speaker 1: go with Aidan O'Connell against this Jets defense. I'm not
- 11:00Speaker 1: sure I'm ready for that one just yet. So as
- 11:04Speaker 1: we go with the quarterbacks, I kind of feel like
- 11:07Speaker 1: the way that CJ. Stroud carved up the Bucks defense
- 11:10Speaker 1: last week, I might want to go Will Levis here
- 11:13Speaker 1: with the Tennessee Titans going to Tampa here in week ten,
- 11:18Speaker 1: Or do I go back and get my running back?
- 11:23Speaker 1: You know what I think? Ultimately that's where I'm headed here.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go, and I'm gonna go
- 11:31Speaker 1: and get Bijon. Give me Bijon back here. Okay, Bijon
- 11:35Speaker 1: is getting back into the swing of things against a
- 11:37Speaker 1: one in eight Cardinals team. Give me Bjeon Robinson at
- 11:40Speaker 1: pick number two, So Drew who we got for DJ
- 11:42Speaker 1: at three? So DJ is gonna go with Jamiir Gibbs
- 11:46Speaker 1: at three. Oh, he's going Levis. I thought I might
- 11:50Speaker 1: be able to sneak it, all right, So it's gonna
- 11:55Speaker 1: go Stroud Bijon, and then DJ, with his back to
- 11:57Speaker 1: back picks, takes Jamiir Gibbs and Will Levis Levis the quarterback,
- 12:02Speaker 1: so he's got his running back in quarterback, just needs
- 12:04Speaker 1: this pass catcher with the last pick of the draft.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So it comes back to me now pick number five,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and I am going to I don't need to take
- 12:11Speaker 1: my quarterback, and I can take my choice of the
- 12:13Speaker 1: first wide receiver or tight end off the board, and
- 12:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Tank Dell. Give me Tank Dell,
- 12:21Speaker 1: who was Tank Deale outstanding last week for the Houston Texans,
- 12:26Speaker 1: called the game winner from CJ. Stroud in addition to
- 12:28Speaker 1: another touchdown. So Tank Dell is my pick, which brings
- 12:31Speaker 1: you back up here, Bucky with a couple in a row,
- 12:34Speaker 1: two picks in a row, for you.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, two picks in a row. So I'm sitting here.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I'm sitting here contemplating who can I go, who can
- 12:40Speaker 2: help me get back on track? And so I'm gonna
- 12:43Speaker 2: just go and I'm gonna try and figure out if
- 12:45Speaker 2: Jordan Addison can get something that I know. Josh Dobbs
- 12:49Speaker 2: is coming in. They didn't talk to each other, but
- 12:51Speaker 2: they somehow find a way to make some connections. So
- 12:53Speaker 2: I will take him as my pass catcher. The tougher
- 12:59Speaker 2: thing is trying to figure out who to be my runner.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Jamiir Gibbs is off the board. I'm looking, I'm scrolling.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I'm sitting here, lock the kids running, not a not
- 13:13Speaker 2: a lot of options. So I think what I'm gonna
- 13:15Speaker 2: do is because the Broncos come back. I think I'm
- 13:18Speaker 2: a gamble on Jalil McLoughlin to see if he comes back. Okay,
- 13:21Speaker 2: following the by if they can come back and get
- 13:23Speaker 2: me back on track.
- 13:24Speaker 1: How about that against the Bills defense. Okay, so that
- 13:28Speaker 1: means I need my quarterback. So his light in the pants, yikes.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So I'm going to go with Bryce Young as my
- 13:36Speaker 1: quarterback going up against the Bears. I feel like that's
- 13:39Speaker 1: going to be a nice bounce back for Bryce who
- 13:41Speaker 1: threw a couple of picks, three picks really in this
- 13:44Speaker 1: matchup at his last game. So Bryce Young is going
- 13:46Speaker 1: to be my pick, and then DJ to close it out.
- 13:48Speaker 1: It's going to go back to the well with Dalton Kincaid.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I think he's gotten the last couple of weeks, so
- 13:53Speaker 1: he is the only tight end in the mix this week,
- 13:56Speaker 1: even with Sam Laporter back against the Chargers. But DJ
- 14:00Speaker 1: is going with Dalton Kincaid with the final pick for
- 14:03Speaker 1: the Bills against the Broncos on Monday Night Football. So
- 14:07Speaker 1: there you have it. From CJ. Stroud to Dalton Kincaid.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We've got it working right there. Okay, So let's a
- 14:13Speaker 1: look at some of the offensive rookies we like when
- 14:14Speaker 1: we come back here on move the sticks, going to
- 14:17Speaker 1: turn the tables to the defensive side of the ball
- 14:19Speaker 1: and look at some of those rookie edge rushers. Check
- 14:21Speaker 1: in where they are at now just past the halfway
- 14:23Speaker 1: point of this season. All right, let's take a look
- 14:30Speaker 1: at your twenty twenty three first round edge rusher types
- 14:34Speaker 1: here from this last year's draft. As you look at
- 14:37Speaker 1: total pressures right now per Pro Football focus. There is
- 14:43Speaker 1: Will A. Anderson is far and away the leader of
- 14:47Speaker 1: the pack here. The third overall pick has twenty eight
- 14:51Speaker 1: pressures right now, Tyree Wilson and Lucas van Ness up
- 14:54Speaker 1: there as well as Felix an d. K Uzamo is
- 14:57Speaker 1: the last pick of the first round. But there's some
- 15:00Speaker 1: interesting kind of nuggets to get into with each one
- 15:03Speaker 1: of these guys, and let's start diving into it now here, Bucky.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And look, let's start at the top because we talked
- 15:09Speaker 1: a lot about C. J. Stroud early in the week
- 15:11Speaker 1: here and move the sticks and rightly so, I mean
- 15:14Speaker 1: we might be talking about not only rook offensive rookie
- 15:17Speaker 1: of the year, but like this guy that might be
- 15:18Speaker 1: inserting himself into the MVP conversation here with the way
- 15:21Speaker 1: that he has played. But let's on the flip side.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Will Anderson I think has been you know, more quietly
- 15:28Speaker 1: delivering right on the defensive side with the pressures that
- 15:31Speaker 1: he has. He's playing anywhere between forty and fifty five
- 15:34Speaker 1: snaps right now, Bucky. So he is a huge part
- 15:37Speaker 1: of the Texans defensive effort. They rely on him to
- 15:42Speaker 1: you know, really bring the effort and bring the pressure
- 15:44Speaker 1: and he's been doing, you know, a really good job
- 15:47Speaker 1: and run support as well. So he's kind of been
- 15:49Speaker 1: the complete player for them, and he is much more
- 15:52Speaker 1: than a rotational player like some of these other rookies.
- 15:54Speaker 1: So that's maybe why the numbers are a bit skewed.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and numbers are skew because he's looked really really
- 15:59Speaker 2: product that we talk about. He has twenty eight precious
- 16:02Speaker 2: in this so this guy has seven. That's significant because
- 16:06Speaker 2: he also plays for a really good team. A good
- 16:07Speaker 2: team will give you opportunities to hunt the quarterback. When
- 16:10Speaker 2: you look at the other guys, some of them are
- 16:12Speaker 2: on losing teams, so you don't get as many opportunities
- 16:15Speaker 2: to get in their track stance and go hunt the
- 16:17Speaker 2: quarterback off the edge. The Niners have had the fortune
- 16:20Speaker 2: of being able to play in front, which will create
- 16:23Speaker 2: and has created. Now the Niners detectives have played in
- 16:26Speaker 2: more games what they won, so it's given them opportunities
- 16:29Speaker 2: to get after it. And so that's why you've seen
- 16:31Speaker 2: Will Anderson. But let's talk about him and his football character.
- 16:35Speaker 2: As much as everyone will laud CJ. Stroud about being
- 16:38Speaker 2: the franchise guy and what he's brought to the team.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Will Anderson has done that. On the other side, he
- 16:44Speaker 2: and some of his Alabama teammates have gotten together. They
- 16:46Speaker 2: just talk about like their winning pedigree, that attitude, being
- 16:48Speaker 2: able to come in and do those things. So as
- 16:51Speaker 2: good as he is as a pass rusher, he's been
- 16:53Speaker 2: worth his weight in gold in terms of the leadership
- 16:55Speaker 2: qualities that he has kind of given this defense. One
- 16:59Speaker 2: of the reasons the Houston Texas that bounce up automatic
- 17:02Speaker 2: quicker than we expected.
- 17:04Speaker 1: C J.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Stroud on offense, but Will Anderson absolutely getting the job
- 17:07Speaker 2: done on defense.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, he's got such a like, such power like
- 17:11Speaker 1: his initial his initial contact with offensive lineman or if
- 17:16Speaker 1: you dare tight ends creates such a shock and you
- 17:21Speaker 1: can just see it with the way that he generates
- 17:23Speaker 1: that force and it knocks guys back almost immediately. So
- 17:27Speaker 1: Will Anderson and c J. Stroud, I mean, just a
- 17:29Speaker 1: phenomenal haul for the Houston Texans right now. Not to
- 17:32Speaker 1: mention what take Tank Dell's doing as a third round pick.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Let's move on here down the list. I'll come to
- 17:38Speaker 1: you here on on Tyree Wilson Bucky because you know
- 17:42Speaker 1: the seven pressures he's definitely been getting more reps as
- 17:46Speaker 1: the season has gone on. Obviously missed a lot of
- 17:48Speaker 1: the offseason in the summer with injury, but started to
- 17:51Speaker 1: started to work his way back here. I just think like,
- 17:54Speaker 1: ultimately the Raiders need more, Like they need more from
- 17:57Speaker 1: Tyree Wilson because Max Crosby gives you max effort on
- 18:01Speaker 1: every snap, takes no reps off, So you got to
- 18:03Speaker 1: get something else from someone else, and that person is
- 18:07Speaker 1: Tyree Wilson. How do they unlock that in Las Vegas?
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yeah, now they have to find a way to really
- 18:12Speaker 2: unlock and it's one of the things that ap Antonio
- 18:15Speaker 2: Pearce will will try to do. They'll try and find
- 18:17Speaker 2: a way to put the young guy in situations where
- 18:19Speaker 2: he can thrive and flourish in those things. But one
- 18:22Speaker 2: thing I do know, and listening to Pierce talk to
- 18:25Speaker 2: his team, talk to everybody around Greider Nation impressers Tyree
- 18:30Speaker 2: Wilson's gonna have to earn the opportunity. It's not just
- 18:32Speaker 2: gonna be given to him because he's the first round pick.
- 18:34Speaker 2: He is going to have to play and show them
- 18:36Speaker 2: in short stints that he deserves more time. So a
- 18:39Speaker 2: lot of this is on him and when you go back,
- 18:42Speaker 2: you look at him a Texas tech look, big time flasher.
- 18:45Speaker 2: You are smitten with the potential in what he could be,
- 18:48Speaker 2: but didn't necessarily put it together to the same level
- 18:51Speaker 2: of consistency that Anderson did that we talked about for
- 18:55Speaker 2: the Texans. This guy needs to splash. He needs make
- 18:58Speaker 2: some splash plays because what will happen? And if he
- 19:00Speaker 2: makes a splash player too, he earned more opportunities to
- 19:04Speaker 2: get up to the passes, but it starts with him.
- 19:06Speaker 2: He has to be productive in a limited amount of
- 19:10Speaker 2: reps so he can earn the right to have more
- 19:12Speaker 2: opportunities to get up to the quarterback.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Moving down the line here a little bit. Lucas van
- 19:16Speaker 1: Ness is a name that I feel like just has gone,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know, totally untalked about for the majority of this
- 19:22Speaker 1: season with the Green Bay Packers. You know, it was
- 19:24Speaker 1: a first round pick obviously here and just has not
- 19:27Speaker 1: generated that type of buzz. He actually, I think play
- 19:31Speaker 1: might have played his best game in his first game
- 19:34Speaker 1: Week one, in that rivalry game against the Chicago Bears.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Played a ton of snaps use him and as kind
- 19:39Speaker 1: of that stand up right outside linebacker. And obviously he's
- 19:42Speaker 1: got to fight for snaps too, and fight for reps
- 19:44Speaker 1: with Preston Smith and with Rashan Gary, and you know
- 19:46Speaker 1: that's obviously a little bit difficult there. But he had
- 19:49Speaker 1: five pressures in his first NFL sack comes in that
- 19:52Speaker 1: first game, and then you know, the reps started to
- 19:54Speaker 1: come off a little bit, so he wasn't getting as
- 19:57Speaker 1: many opportunities. But then he kind of started the rat
- 19:59Speaker 1: back up here a little bit. I think what you're
- 20:01Speaker 1: seeing here with Lucas van Ness is what we saw
- 20:03Speaker 1: in the pre draft process. The strength in the athleticism
- 20:06Speaker 1: and the physicality is all there in space, and when
- 20:10Speaker 1: he's winning, that's ultimately what he's winning with. I think
- 20:13Speaker 1: as you get more seasoning for a young player like that,
- 20:16Speaker 1: and you can continue to work on your craft, I
- 20:20Speaker 1: think you'll start to see that unlock. I wouldn't be
- 20:22Speaker 1: shocked if Lucas van Nes comes back next year and starts,
- 20:25Speaker 1: you know, a breakout type of campaign early on next season.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I think he's going to continue to get better. He's
- 20:31Speaker 1: just got all the tools, just got to be able
- 20:33Speaker 1: to put it together on a consistent basis. But there's
- 20:35Speaker 1: still a lot to like right there. And you also
- 20:38Speaker 1: saw them kind of use him a little bit as
- 20:40Speaker 1: a you know, hand in the dirt defensive end in
- 20:42Speaker 1: that scheme too. Wouldn't be surprised if we see more
- 20:44Speaker 1: of that as well for a guy who's six foot fives,
- 20:47Speaker 1: two hundred and eighty pounds. And then as we get
- 20:49Speaker 1: down the list here, Bucky, you know, Will McDonald I
- 20:53Speaker 1: think is a product of man just there's so much
- 20:56Speaker 1: depth with New York. He's not getting the opportunities right
- 20:59Speaker 1: with and Lost and Jemie Johnson, like the list goes
- 21:02Speaker 1: on and on, but then Miles Murphy and Felix and
- 21:05Speaker 1: Ydique Ozama kind of go in the opposite direction. Whereas
- 21:09Speaker 1: Fau and the reps are really coming down, he's not
- 21:11Speaker 1: seeing as many opportunities. But Miles Murphy, I played his
- 21:15Speaker 1: best game this past week against the Buffalo Bills. How
- 21:17Speaker 1: do you see that group of guys?
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, no, this is really interesting when you just kind
- 21:24Speaker 2: of look at this mix and you look at how
- 21:27Speaker 2: these guys have been able to get it done. When
- 21:30Speaker 2: you don't have the same opportunities as others, you gotta
- 21:33Speaker 2: flash and you got to kind of give coaches a
- 21:35Speaker 2: reason to kind of continue to keep putting you up there.
- 21:38Speaker 2: When you talk about Will McDonald joining the Jets and
- 21:40Speaker 2: you think about all the pass rushes that are into
- 21:42Speaker 2: rotation for the Jets, he was going to have to
- 21:44Speaker 2: be spectacular to earn more than a fifty percent share
- 21:48Speaker 2: of the playing time. Hasn't had those opportunities. Yeah, we
- 21:50Speaker 2: saw the pressures in those things, but he's going to
- 21:52Speaker 2: need somebody to kind of get banged up where he
- 21:55Speaker 2: gets more opportunities to play, and then when he gets
- 21:58Speaker 2: on the field, he has to take advantage of those opportunities.
- 22:01Speaker 2: We talk about the splash plays because Mike Tomlin always
- 22:04Speaker 2: talks about those those plays that show up on tape
- 22:06Speaker 2: that our game altering place. He's going to have to
- 22:10Speaker 2: deliver a strip sack for Smombles something in dead May
- 22:13Speaker 2: until the coaches fully trust him and put him in
- 22:17Speaker 2: an elevated role on the defense.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah, certainly, Felix and Udique Zama just four snaps in
- 22:25Speaker 1: Germany and just one more name though to think about,
- 22:28Speaker 1: and not necessarily on the edge, but has seen some
- 22:31Speaker 1: of that and it is beyond the first round, is
- 22:33Speaker 1: starting to get more of those reps. Tommy Watta Barre
- 22:36Speaker 1: for the Indianapolis Colts a name to kind of file away.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Keep watching as the season progresses, especially as we head
- 22:44Speaker 1: to Germany once again this week. Set your alarm Sunday
- 22:46Speaker 1: morning football back for an encore Frankfurt exclusively on NFL Network.
- 22:50Speaker 1: You can watch with the world as Tommy watt Abari
- 22:54Speaker 1: in the Colts stace off against the Patriots. Rise, Shine,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and watch on Sunday, November twelfth, nine thirty am Eastern Time,
- 23:01Speaker 1: only on NFL Network and streaming on NFL Plus. Let's
- 23:05Speaker 1: talk Colts Patriots in Germany on NFL Network and streaming
- 23:10Speaker 1: on NFL Plus. Certainly feels like two teams trending in
- 23:13Speaker 1: the opposite direction. Colts get a big win this past week.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Patriots another loss, and a loss that generated questions from
- 23:23Speaker 1: the assembled media in Foxborough on Monday directed towards Bill
- 23:27Speaker 1: Belichick about his job security. Holy smokes, what world are
- 23:32Speaker 1: we living in right now where Bill Belichick is fielding
- 23:35Speaker 1: those types of questions? But look, the record speaks for itself.
- 23:37Speaker 1: It is not up to the Patriots standard. Do they
- 23:40Speaker 1: find a way off us soil to rekindle some of
- 23:45Speaker 1: that Patriot magic here, Bucky? Or are we just done?
- 23:49Speaker 1: At this point.
- 23:51Speaker 2: No, I think they found a way to get it
- 23:52Speaker 2: done against the Indianapolis coach. Part of the reason is
- 23:54Speaker 2: because Bill Belichick will find a way to make like
- 23:57Speaker 2: miserable for goaring to Minshew in the pocket. Despite the
- 24:00Speaker 2: superiority when it comes to their talent, even the level
- 24:04Speaker 2: of physicality that the Coats played with right now compared
- 24:07Speaker 2: to the Patriots. This is one that the game is
- 24:10Speaker 2: still decided about the play of the quarterback. I cannot
- 24:13Speaker 2: in good faith think that Garner Minshew is going to
- 24:15Speaker 2: find a way to kind of crack the code and
- 24:18Speaker 2: just unlock and unleash passes to the tune of three
- 24:21Speaker 2: hundred yards. To me, this is a close game because
- 24:24Speaker 2: the Patriots make it a close game and then they
- 24:26Speaker 2: find a way to steal it at the end.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And you know, you just kind of wonder what kind
- 24:31Speaker 1: of chess game does Shane Stikeen want to play with
- 24:33Speaker 1: the game playing here against Bill Belichick if he's worried
- 24:36Speaker 1: about what Belichick can do to Gardner Minshew in the pocket.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Does this kind of become, you know, one of those
- 24:43Speaker 1: let's say, old school Tennessee Titan with Ryan Tannehill games,
- 24:46Speaker 1: or one of those old school Jimmy Garoppolo with the
- 24:48Speaker 1: forty nine ers games where they just take the air
- 24:50Speaker 1: out of the football and run the rock with Jonathan
- 24:53Speaker 1: Taylor and Zach Moss, and you just try to find
- 24:55Speaker 1: a way to you know, shorten the game, keep the
- 24:58Speaker 1: thing closed, find a way to win it late. I
- 25:01Speaker 1: don't know, I could certainly see that happening with I mean,
- 25:04Speaker 1: because that's clearly still the strength of this football team,
- 25:06Speaker 1: even though you know Michael Pittman junior Josh Downs when
- 25:09Speaker 1: he's healthy, and you know they've proven that they can
- 25:12Speaker 1: they can move the ball through the air. But I
- 25:14Speaker 1: just I just wonder if you take the risk out
- 25:15Speaker 1: of this thing against the Patriots team that showed very
- 25:18Speaker 1: little on offense and just try to try to dominate
- 25:21Speaker 1: the clock and dominate the game that way with that group.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Wouldn't be surprised on that one, Bucky, No, I.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Wouldn't be surprised. And here's the thing when we look
- 25:29Speaker 2: at this matchup and look, those two guys would rate
- 25:33Speaker 2: amongst the top fifteen players in this game Japha to
- 25:36Speaker 2: Tatler Zagmoss collectively or being able to get it done.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Talking about a running a rushing attack completely turning around
- 25:43Speaker 2: when guys show up, So these guys can make life
- 25:46Speaker 2: tough on the pages and if they're committed to running
- 25:49Speaker 2: the football because they want to protect garn and Minshew. Yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 2: this game going to the fourth quarter being within one score,
- 25:55Speaker 2: but then it comes a matter of who do you trust,
- 25:57Speaker 2: who you count on, who do you lean on in
- 26:00Speaker 2: those moments. I'm gonna go with the Bengals like I'm
- 26:03Speaker 2: gonna go on the other side in a tough one,
- 26:05Speaker 2: just because I think the Patriots find a way to
- 26:08Speaker 2: continue to confound gonna mention and that's ultimately the deciding factor.
- 26:12Speaker 1: All right, Well, well, looking forward to it. It's been
- 26:15Speaker 1: a great atmosphere there and Frankfurt was for the Chiefs.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Dolphins can't wait to see this one this Sunday, nine
- 26:20Speaker 1: thirty am Eastern Time, exclusively on NFL Network and streaming
- 26:24Speaker 1: on NFL Plus. Also be on the lookout. In addition
- 26:27Speaker 1: to a few more episodes this week here Move the
- 26:30Speaker 1: Sticks overra An NFL Plus DJ has got some real
- 26:33Speaker 1: rookie content coming out here this week, and he'll also
- 26:36Speaker 1: be back on the pod later this week here on
- 26:39Speaker 1: Move This Stick. So a lot coming up here for
- 26:40Speaker 1: you a lot of great stuff as we approach the
- 26:43Speaker 1: stretch run of this season, but for Bucky Brooks on
- 26:45Speaker 1: Red Lewis, thanks for being with us here on Move
- 26:47Speaker 1: the Sticks.
