Transcript
- 0:00Uh.
- 0:03Jasmine, oolong, green
- 0:06and white. Long ago, these four
- 0:08teas were skilfully brewed at the Blissful Brew.
- 0:11Then, everything changed when the shop's
- 0:14popularity threatened its existence.
- 0:17All Mr. Okuron, the shop's owner and tea
- 0:20master, could do was to recruit four teenage
- 0:23orphans to learn his trade and and staff his
- 0:25shop. A year has passed since the orphans were
- 0:28hired, and although their skills have progressed, they
- 0:31still have a lot to learn before they can brew anything.
- 0:34But I believe that they have the potential to make the
- 0:37Blissful Brew the greatest tea shop in the
- 0:39world.
- 0:41Welcome, welcome. Step right up. Have we got a
- 0:44show for you tonight, folks. That's right. A tale of
- 0:47awe and wonder, adventure and high stakes.
- 0:50A tale about what?
- 0:54Who?
- 0:57What do you mean?
- 0:58The stories about the cleaning boy.
- 1:01Well, that doesn't sound at all interesting. I
- 1:03mean, it's a heck of an interesting tale, folks.
- 1:06You won't want to miss out tonight. So grab yourself a ticket,
- 1:09buy yourself some fireflakes, and hurry inside to
- 1:12get yourself a seat. You won't want to miss out on this theatrical
- 1:15masterpiece critics are calling the story of the
- 1:18century. I will be there your host, Skylar
- 1:21Gorset, and ringmaster of this here carnival. And the story
- 1:24is about to begin right about
- 1:26now.
- 1:38This is the boy?
- 1:40Yes.
- 1:40And you know what will happen if anyone were to find out about
- 1:43this transaction.
- 1:46We're aware.
- 1:47Good. The sale of people is illegal,
- 1:50but ownership isn't.
- 1:52What are your plans for the child?
- 1:55Not that it should matter to you, but I
- 1:58need a younger body to help me with the needs of the
- 2:00carnival. Setting up, taking down
- 2:03all the hard physical labor.
- 2:05But he will be taken care of?
- 2:08Yes, of course he
- 2:11will. I need him strong and healthy, after
- 2:14all. But why should it matter?
- 2:17You're selling him, yes?
- 2:19Yes.
- 2:21Perfect. Then here is your money, and
- 2:24I'll be on my way. But first, a, ah,
- 2:26signature from each of you, please.
- 2:31Perfect. Then here is your money, and I'll
- 2:34be on my way.
- 2:39Did we do the right
- 2:42thing?
- 2:43We have no other choice.
- 2:50That was so much fun. Let's
- 2:53go down the mudslide again. Okay,
- 2:55I'll race you.
- 2:59Wish I could be going down, um, the mudslide.
- 3:02Whoa. Quit daydreaming. Once you're
- 3:05done sweeping the camel fence enclosure needs to be cleaned
- 3:08out. And then you can move on to feeding the
- 3:11hog monkeys.
- 3:12Yes, sir.
- 3:22Hey, you want to come play with us? We're
- 3:25going to the country catapult game, if you want to come along.
- 3:28I can't. I've, uh, got
- 3:31chores.
- 3:33That really sucks. Too bad you can't be a normal
- 3:35kid like us.
- 3:42You're telling me.
- 3:46Whoa. Over here.
- 3:49Maribel, what are you doing?
- 3:51I'm taking my break.
- 3:53Who's going to keep things running at the kissing
- 3:55booth?
- 3:56Sure. Walter can handle things for the time being. Come on, let's
- 3:59go play some games.
- 4:00Okay. Which one?
- 4:02You pick.
- 4:05All right, so we're going to
- 4:08jump into playing a little bit of this
- 4:11game that you have chosen, uh,
- 4:14which was the pebble
- 4:17throw game. Basically, the way that
- 4:20this game is going to work, Dave,
- 4:22Aka, is that, uh, as you're
- 4:25standing there with Maribel and you guys
- 4:28know, watching as they set up for this game, an
- 4:31earthbender who's running it, his name, you know, it
- 4:34is, uh,
- 4:39Bolton.
- 4:42And Bolton, uh, takes two big
- 4:45stomps into the ground, and a
- 4:47number of various earth pillars just kind of,
- 4:50like, shoot out, um, all perfectly
- 4:53cylindrical, right?
- 4:55Yeah.
- 4:55Um, and on top of each of them, you
- 4:58see these clay figurines. And, you
- 5:01know, know, you personally, and Maribel, of course,
- 5:04would know that Bolton actually makes these. He's kind
- 5:07of an Earthbending artist, and.
- 5:08That'S what he does.
- 5:08So he has these they're not super detailed, you know, that he's
- 5:11capable of making really detailed ones. It's completely irrelevant, but
- 5:14I'm just putting it out there. But he makes these ones just kind of like
- 5:17a basic general shape. So there might be one that's, like, the shape of
- 5:20a person, or one that's the shape of a
- 5:23frog squirrel. Uh, or
- 5:26one that's the shape of
- 5:30hog, uh, monkey. A hog monkey. Or a
- 5:32spicy dragon fruit.
- 5:35So anyways, the goal of the game is you
- 5:38have a handful of five
- 5:41pebbles, and your goal is to use those
- 5:44pebbles and throw them. Or, I mean,
- 5:46technically, nothing's stopping you from doing some sort
- 5:49of subtle earth bending, uh uh, to
- 5:52break these. And when you do,
- 5:55you get a prize.
- 5:57There's a number of stuffed animals,
- 6:01um, kind of classic things that you would get
- 6:03from
- 6:06a carnival booth.
- 6:07Right.
- 6:08So, like, small toys to big toys.
- 6:10Hopefully, they don't have any food prices
- 6:13stuck inside of these figures.
- 6:15No. Well, and the prices themselves are
- 6:18actually on the yeah, they got them, like, on the wall. Um,
- 6:21that makes sense. Yeah. So
- 6:24let's say there's about ten different, uh, clay
- 6:27like, figurines that you can hit and
- 6:30smash. Um, so it's entirely up to
- 6:32you which ones you want to aim for. I can give you a list of what's
- 6:35up there. Um, so they have one
- 6:38of each. They have a waterbender, an
- 6:41earthbender, a firebender, and an airbender.
- 6:44And you can kind of tell based on, like, they're doing some kind of a movement
- 6:47or something that kind of implies what they do. Um,
- 6:49there is the frog squirrel that I mentioned.
- 6:52There is so what is that, five? Okay,
- 6:55I didn't come up with this beforehand, so I'm just trying to make
- 6:58it up on the spot.
- 6:59Okay.
- 6:59You said there's the hog monkey. Um, these are all
- 7:02animals that would be at the zoo
- 7:05or the zoo section of this carnival.
- 7:08So there's a, ah, camel fence. So that puts us
- 7:10at seven. Um, and then
- 7:13the other three are all, like,
- 7:16fancy foods. So one of them is, like,
- 7:19a custard pie. But the downside of
- 7:22it is that it's sitting like, it
- 7:24would like, if you were serving somebody the pie sitting there rather
- 7:27than like, they turn it upside and make it a big, just circular
- 7:30target that'd be easy to hit. And M, that's kind of obviously
- 7:33advertising for the, um,
- 7:36custard catapult game. Um,
- 7:39they also going back to the animals. They have a
- 7:42butterfly fish because that's kind of a throwback to another one of
- 7:45the games that's available. Um, and then
- 7:48finally they have I don't think I mentioned it
- 7:50yet already, aside from referring to
- 7:53it earlier. But they have the spicy dragon fruit, which is kind of
- 7:56like their specialty. So
- 7:59those are your ten targets you can hit. Uh, you know
- 8:02that each one has a different colored stone inside
- 8:05that's worth, like, a different number of points. So green stones
- 8:08are worth one. Blue stones are worth three,
- 8:11and Redstones are worth five. Uh, the big
- 8:14prizes, like your giant stuffed animals, those are
- 8:16like, 25 points. And
- 8:19then they're like, in increments of, uh well,
- 8:22they'd be in every increment from, like, 25
- 8:25down to one.
- 8:27Yeah, whatever you want
- 8:30to pick out and throw something at.
- 8:33I'm going to start it out
- 8:36easy. I'll show you how it's done. Maribel and
- 8:39I line up my sights on the hog
- 8:41monkey.
- 8:43Okay, um, I'm going to have you roll
- 8:46a um, are you using any kind
- 8:49of earth bending? Are you going to play
- 8:52it honest?
- 8:53Yeah, I'm going to use my pinpoint aim.
- 8:56Oh, okay.
- 8:56It's a good idea.
- 8:58Uh, which is one of my fighting techniques.
- 9:01Right.
- 9:01So I'll take the time I need to line up a perfect
- 9:04shot and become prepared.
- 9:08So this is kind of a preparation. Before you even take the
- 9:11shot, you're, like, scoping it out. You're like, all right, I got it in my
- 9:14sights.
- 9:15Yeah.
- 9:16Awesome.
- 9:16Uh huh.
- 9:17Okay, throw this fling this rock at the
- 9:19hog monkey. Man, that thing looks
- 9:22pretty realistic, actually.
- 9:25Sorry, bud.
- 9:26All.
- 9:29Right, so I got an eight.
- 9:31Eight.
- 9:32Okay. I would say that is a success.
- 9:34So you flick this, uh, stone,
- 9:37uh, forward. It hits the hog monkey. The hog monkey
- 9:41shatters and out pops a green gem.
- 9:43Ah.
- 9:43Nice shot, Guo.
- 9:45Ha.
- 9:46Solid hit. You haven't seen nothing yet. Which one do
- 9:49you want me to hit next?
- 9:51Maribel wants you to hit it from, um, or hit the,
- 9:54uh, see if you can hit the rainbow fish.
- 9:56No problem.
- 9:57I'm just going to go for it on this one.
- 9:59Yeah.
- 10:02Absolutely.
- 10:03Yeah.
- 10:03Got
- 10:04a 910,
- 10:07actually.
- 10:08Awesome.
- 10:08Okay, so that's going to fly forward. It hits the
- 10:11rainbow fish, and sure enough, red
- 10:14gem pops out. Very well done. And,
- 10:16uh, Bolton picks it up off the ground, and he
- 10:19brings it over and hands it to you with the other one. So you've got
- 10:22a red and, uh, a green so far. So that's a total
- 10:25of six points.
- 10:26I'll go for the camel font next.
- 10:29All righty, try this on for
- 10:34size.
- 10:34Nine.
- 10:35Nine. Okay.
- 10:36That's another hit you haven't missed yet.
- 10:39Wow.
- 10:40Amazing.
- 10:40Um bolton's.
- 10:41Pretty impressed. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 10:43I suppose, uh, this is pretty impressive.
- 10:45And he walks over. You didn't even see it on this one, uh, because
- 10:47the camel fin is such, like, a big
- 10:50piece. Uh, but he picks around the little clay
- 10:53chunks and stuff, and he pulls out a blue. So now you're
- 10:56up to nine
- 11:00points. You've got two stones left.
- 11:02All right, time to catapult
- 11:04this custard.
- 11:08Uh, nine. That's another
- 11:11hit.
- 11:11Nice shot, Guo.
- 11:13Successful again. Uh, he walks over to the
- 11:16shattered pieces and pulls out a green. So
- 11:19you now have a green. So you are at ten points even,
- 11:21I believe.
- 11:22All right, I'm looking over my targets and
- 11:26seeing, what do I think is.
- 11:27Going to.
- 11:30Be the heart, the most challenging one?
- 11:32Sure.
- 11:33Yeah.
- 11:34All of the people
- 11:37are pretty tricky to some extent,
- 11:40right. The ponzi side is they're all doing some kind of a pose.
- 11:43Usually that involves some sort of a
- 11:46bending, looking like, you can see, like, water, but it's
- 11:48obviously clay. You can see kind of like a pump
- 11:51of air. So, I mean, to some extent, that's kind of,
- 11:54uh, convenient to help you hit
- 11:57it. But, I mean, the figure itself is a
- 11:59little tricky if you were to do it wrong.
- 12:01Right.
- 12:02There's a lot of potential for that. Other than
- 12:05that, uh, the frog squirrel, uh, that one
- 12:07also is very small.
- 12:09Uh, I'm going to go for the
- 12:12earth bending figure.
- 12:14Okay, sounds good.
- 12:16I like, cover my eyes.
- 12:19I'm just
- 12:23kidding.
- 12:23Now I need to focus on this
- 12:26one. Okay, guo, you can do this. And I take,
- 12:29uh, pinpoint aim.
- 12:30You pinpoint aims again.
- 12:31So, um, I become prepared. I get plus
- 12:34one on my roll.
- 12:41Okay.
- 12:42Eight.
- 12:43All right, perfect.
- 12:44Yes.
- 12:44That's just enough to hit it. I barely flip it,
- 12:47but you clip it. It, like, spins around, and then
- 12:50it just falls onto its little platform and it shatters when
- 12:53it actually falls.
- 12:54You did it glow. You won.
- 12:56Then, uh, Bolton goes, oh, that was.
- 12:58A close one, but sure enough, you got it.
- 13:00So he walks over and he picks out a blue.
- 13:03You have officially accumulated 13 points,
- 13:06which is roughly, like, maybe a slightly bigger than
- 13:09medium prize.
- 13:11Solid.
- 13:12So looking over the prizes, like I said, I mean, it's kind of like
- 13:14so your ones are going to be things
- 13:16like marbles and
- 13:19little plastic ninjas. Uh, no, I'm just kidding.
- 13:22Uh, but kind of along those same lines, like,
- 13:25maybe a little small treat.
- 13:28Uh, they have, uh,
- 13:33frozen spicy, uh, dragon fruit chunks. So that's kind of like
- 13:36I said, the whole spicy dragon fruit thing is kind of their specialty.
- 13:38So obviously they have those kind of at the lower end of the
- 13:41prizes, um, moving up into your
- 13:44medium prizes, you have kind of
- 13:46regular size stuffed animals, maybe
- 13:49some, um,
- 13:51masks, uh, small hats
- 13:54or costume pieces. Just, like, little things, though. And then,
- 13:57of course, at the top, you have your giant stuffed
- 14:00animals. You have, uh,
- 14:02very ornate pieces
- 14:05of pottery or clay
- 14:08pieces. Or you also see that he has
- 14:11very detailed versions of some of the figures that you actually
- 14:14just shot at with the clay. So, like, when he does his
- 14:17stuff. And some of them, um, on
- 14:19the absolute highest tier. So, like, at your 25 points, they're
- 14:22actually, like, he's painted them personally.
- 14:25Uh, so those are kind of like.
- 14:26The super rare
- 14:29things Gross sees on the low end of the
- 14:32price, like a
- 14:35small bag of stone marbles or
- 14:38oh, yeah.
- 14:39And, yeah, those are probably, like I'd say, if it's a small
- 14:42bag of marbles, probably, like, maybe five or
- 14:44six points.
- 14:46So he'll get that and be like, these are
- 14:49pretty neat.
- 14:50There's our callback to
- 14:53yep.
- 14:54And he'll put that, uh, bag away
- 14:56in his pocket.
- 14:58Can you even call that a callback?
- 15:00That's, like, a foreshadow.
- 15:01Yeah, I don't know what the term is for
- 15:04that.
- 15:06Okay.
- 15:07Um, and then he's going to look at
- 15:10the masks, because he's probably got maybe enough
- 15:12for medium yeah, somewhere in
- 15:16there, um, he's going to pick out, uh,
- 15:19this rainbow fish mask, since Maribel
- 15:22wanted me to hit the rainbow.
- 15:26Fish.
- 15:27Um, like,
- 15:29here, Maribel. This would look great
- 15:31on you. Of course.
- 15:33Anything would. Awa, you shouldn't
- 15:36have. You're so sweet.
- 15:38Uh, so yeah, I'll get that off her.
- 15:41All right.
- 15:42Perfect.
- 15:42And with that, uh, you and Maribel have just had, uh,
- 15:45a good 1015 minutes break playing one
- 15:48of the games at, uh, the carnival that normally you guys
- 15:51wouldn't get a chance to play. So you've had a little bit
- 15:53of fun.
- 15:54Well, thanks for convincing me to sneak off,
- 15:57Maribel.
- 15:58Well, thanks for having some fun with me. It's no fun watching
- 16:01everyone else have a good time playing the games and watching the shows we
- 16:04put on and not getting to enjoy them ourselves.
- 16:06Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
- 16:08Well, I better get back to the kissing booth. Walter's lips are
- 16:11probably chapped having to run things by himself at this point.
- 16:14Nah, uh, I'm sure the customers are just waiting for you
- 16:17to come back. You're a much better kisser than
- 16:20Walter.
- 16:20Oh, yeah?
- 16:21You think so?
- 16:23100%. Well, then, here's an extra special thank you for
- 16:26me, then.
- 16:28Ah.
- 16:29Well, uh, quick, hide over.
- 16:34Here.
- 16:34What is it? It's Jane.
- 16:37See? Oh, crap. I'm supposed to be
- 16:40feeding the hog monkeys.
- 16:42I know. Why do you think I told you to hide. You don't want to be
- 16:45caught slacking off.
- 16:47It looks like he's with someone. I've never
- 16:50seen that guy before.
- 16:51That's a pirate. What? I've seen their
- 16:54type before.
- 16:55Trust me.
- 16:57Wow.
- 16:57A real life pirate.
- 16:59Don't get the wrong idea, Guo. I know, some people like
- 17:02to glorify pirates, but the reality is that
- 17:05they're bloodthirsty monsters who will do anything
- 17:07and everything for a little gold. You don't want to
- 17:10get mixed up with them.
- 17:12Got it.
- 17:13Looks like they're headed to Chang's tent.
- 17:15I'm gonna get up close to the tent and see if I
- 17:18can hear what they're saying.
- 17:20What? Don't do that. What if they catch you?
- 17:23Don't worry, Maribel. I'm pretty sneaky, you
- 17:26know.
- 17:26Just be careful,
- 17:28gua.
- 17:29Oh, you know I will.
- 17:36Uh, where is it?
- 17:37I want to see it.
- 17:39Uh, you, uh, know how this works.
- 17:42Payment first. Not until I
- 17:45see it.
- 17:46Fine.
- 17:46See for
- 17:48yourself. It's beautiful.
- 17:52Yeah.
- 17:52Now give me the information.
- 17:55Fine. I have it on good authority that there's a passenger
- 17:58ship leaving Fire Fountain City carrying
- 18:01a number of high tier
- 18:04valuables.
- 18:04How good of authority?
- 18:07A production worker from the factory mentioned it.
- 18:10So I went down to the docks and saw them loading a
- 18:13bunch of stuff onto a passenger ship. So I
- 18:15asked myself, why the heck would they put
- 18:18anything other than passengers on a passenger
- 18:21ship?
- 18:22Right?
- 18:22That is quite
- 18:25strange.
- 18:26Exactly.
- 18:27So I went down to one of the pubs at the docks and got into
- 18:30a chat with one of the crew. He was pretty
- 18:33drunk by that point and spilled a lot of
- 18:35the details.
- 18:37Did he say what they were loading.
- 18:42In? Well, not
- 18:44exactly, no.
- 18:46I ought to take that missing information.
- 18:49Out of your payment. Wait.
- 18:52No.
- 18:53Please.
- 18:53Tell you what.
- 18:54I'll, uh, give you the antique piece of junk as
- 18:57we agreed, but if I find out there ain't
- 19:00nothing worth my time on that ship, I'll be showing up
- 19:03to your carnival next week.
- 19:05And taking back what I'm
- 19:08owed. Understood? I assure you
- 19:11the info is good. Don't you
- 19:14worry.
- 19:14It better.
- 19:19Be.
- 19:20By the way, what do you want that old
- 19:22scepter for, anyways?
- 19:25Oh, uh, it's just, uh, a
- 19:27collector's item. I'm a big fan of
- 19:30the Creator, is all.
- 19:32Well, think the spirits for collectors like
- 19:34you? You people make up the majority of my.
- 19:41Business.
- 19:43Ha.
- 19:44Stupid pirates. You have no idea the type
- 19:47of power this scepter holds inside of
- 19:49it.
- 19:50I wonder what is so special about that, uh, scepter.
- 19:53Uh, boy, what are you doing outside of
- 19:56my tent? I thought I told you to go take care of
- 19:59the camelphin cage.
- 20:01Oh, well, uh, I
- 20:04finished, sir.
- 20:05Then why ain't you feeding the hog monkeys?
- 20:08Oh, uh, yes, sir.
- 20:09Uh, honest, sir. I swear, if it weren't
- 20:11for me, this carnival would fall apart, thanks to
- 20:14lazy good for nothings like.
- 20:24You. So then the pirate guy
- 20:26says, hey, your intel better be good, or
- 20:29I'll come back here and slice you limb from limb
- 20:32before throwing you into the sea for the squid sharks to
- 20:35eat ya. And then the pirate gave him some sort
- 20:38of scepter that Chang said was
- 20:40special. Man, I wonder what's so special
- 20:43about it? Yeah, well, you
- 20:46guys weren't there, so how would you know.
- 20:51Anyway?
- 20:52Well, it looks like the carnival is wrapping up.
- 20:55You'll have a good night's sleep. Better get yourselves ready
- 20:58to entertain more people.
- 21:01Tomorrow.
- 21:02I know. Life sucks when you're stuck inside a
- 21:05cage. Trust me, I'm just as trapped as you guys
- 21:08are. Chang says he has a paper of ownership that
- 21:11applies until I turn 18. If I try to run away, he'll
- 21:14send bounty hunters after me. He likes to remind me
- 21:17of that.
- 21:18Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, my boy.
- 21:20Uh oh, uh, sorry to startle you. My
- 21:23name is Okaron. Well, I suppose people call
- 21:26me Mr. Okaron, but I'm not big on
- 21:29formalities.
- 21:30Well, it's nice to meet you, Mr. Okaron. My
- 21:33name's Guo. What, uh, brings you to the
- 21:36hog monkey cages?
- 21:37Oh, well, uh, I actually just finished making a deal
- 21:40with your carnival owner for some exotic fruits he brought
- 21:43from one of your previous ventures to the Western Air
- 21:46Temple.
- 21:46Oh, gotcha. Uh, did you trade him a scepter
- 21:49as well?
- 21:50I'm sorry.
- 21:51Oh, my bad. It's just that earlier tonight,
- 21:54some pirate guy met with Chang and traded him a scepter for
- 21:57some information about a passenger ship leaving
- 22:00Fountain City.
- 22:01That is concerning.
- 22:04Especially since I'm headed to Fountain City in the morning
- 22:07to grab some ingredients. And I'll be taking
- 22:10a passenger ship back to the Earth
- 22:12kingdom.
- 22:15Afterwards.
- 22:15But I'm sure that can't be the same
- 22:19ship.
- 22:19Uh, well, I better get back to the chores.
- 22:22Got to finish so I can get some sleep know, do
- 22:25it all again tomorrow.
- 22:27Oh, well, of course. Sorry I bothered.
- 22:30Um, say, uh, uh, Guao?
- 22:32Oh, yeah. Everyone deserves their
- 22:35freedom. I hope that someday you're able to
- 22:38get yours. You seem like a good
- 22:41kid. And once you've left here, I'm opening a
- 22:44tea shop in Gao Ling. So if it's something
- 22:46you're interested in, I'll always have a spot for
- 22:49you there.
- 22:51You just met me and you're offering me
- 22:53a job?
- 22:55Well, I've been told I have an eye for picking out the
- 22:58good from the bad when it comes to people.
- 23:01I apologize if I'm being too forward, but I've always had
- 23:03a passion for helping out lost souls in
- 23:07need. You seem like a good kid. I know
- 23:10you'll be able to escape this cage this carnival has
- 23:13put you in. And once you do,
- 23:15just know you're not alone and you have a
- 23:18home that will happily welcome you.
- 23:21Wow.
- 23:22Uh, that's very generous of you, but
- 23:25I doubt I'll ever get out of here.
- 23:26Don't give up so easy. You'll find a way to free
- 23:29yourself from your shackles.
- 23:31I guess I'll just see what happens
- 23:34anyways.
- 23:35Oh, yes. Uh, sorry. I
- 23:38understand finishing your chores. I hope to see you
- 23:41someday soon, Guo. Have a nice
- 23:44night.
- 23:44What a strange old.
- 23:51Man. Guo, over here.
- 23:53Hey, Maribel. Gee, it's a busy
- 23:56day today. What's up with that?
- 23:58I'm not totally sure. I think I heard someone say
- 24:01that there's some sort of special holiday or something.
- 24:03It's the harvest moon. It marks the beginning of the crop
- 24:06harvesting season.
- 24:07Oh, khalik. I didn't see you
- 24:09there. So, uh, a harvest festival, eh?
- 24:12Sounds pretty cool. What are you doing over here? Aren't
- 24:15you running the custard catapult game?
- 24:18It's been so busy, I ran out of prizes. I
- 24:20think there are more back here.
- 24:25Somewhere. Ah.
- 24:26Uh, here they are.
- 24:27So how do they know to celebrate? Who decides when
- 24:30the crops are ready?
- 24:32It's the moon spirit. Tonight will be a full moon. Good
- 24:34for a waterbender like myself.
- 24:37OOH, a full moon. That sounds pretty
- 24:40solid.
- 24:40Yeah, that would be beautiful.
- 24:42It is also a warning.
- 24:43A warning?
- 24:45It is said that when there is a full moon, the gates of
- 24:47the spirit world are open. Spirits may walk among
- 24:50the living, so be on the lookout
- 24:53tonight.
- 24:53I thought the spirits were good, though.
- 24:57Sure, many are good. But there are evil spirits
- 25:00as well. Ones that want to do us harm.
- 25:02You sure do know a lot about the spirit world,
- 25:05Cleek.
- 25:05Or.
- 25:05We from the water tribe have always been very close with the
- 25:08spirit world. I know firsthand how dangerous
- 25:11they can be.
- 25:12Well, Guo and I will definitely keep our eyes out for any
- 25:14evil spirits tonight.
- 25:16And your other senses, too? Uh, some
- 25:18spirits cannot be seen, but they can be heard or
- 25:22felt or even tasted.
- 25:23What do you think a spirit tastes
- 25:27like?
- 25:27The world of spirits should not be taken
- 25:30lightly. Just last night during my meditation,
- 25:33I could sense an evil right here in the
- 25:36carnival camp. Something dark is brewing.
- 25:39I fear what tonight will.
- 25:43Bring.
- 25:43What do you think that was all about?
- 25:45I'm not so sure. Kalik has always
- 25:47been, um kind of a strange guy.
- 25:50You've got that right.
- 25:53Whoa.
- 25:53Where are you? I told you to have more
- 25:56custard pies ready an hour ago.
- 25:58Oh, jeez. I better go.
- 26:01See you later
- 26:07tonight.
- 26:08Phew.
- 26:08I am absolutely exhausted. To think
- 26:11a holiday would bring the whole crack in town out
- 26:15here. Uh, sir, uh, uh, those are actually for
- 26:18employees only. You're not supposed
- 26:23to what's wrong with your
- 26:27face? Stay away from me.
- 26:28Stay away. Get back. Get.
- 26:36Back.
- 26:38Maribel. Whoa.
- 26:39Whoa.
- 26:39Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost or.
- 26:43Something.
- 26:44I'm not sure. Maybe I have. Or maybe it was one
- 26:47of those evil spirits kalik was talking
- 26:49about earlier.
- 26:51Whoa.
- 26:51You're not supposed to let Kalik's stories get to you. Or are
- 26:54you just trying to scare me?
- 26:56I'm not kidding around, mayor. Though I saw someone
- 26:59over there, but his face is all messed up, like some
- 27:02kind of dead guy came back to life.
- 27:04EW, that's really gross. Guo. Not
- 27:07funny.
- 27:07I'm not trying to be
- 27:11funny.
- 27:11Hey, there, buddy. Uh, I think you've had way
- 27:14too much to drink. You need
- 27:17to go.
- 27:21Dead.
- 27:22But you've been dead for two years.
- 27:25How, uh, can.
- 27:28You oh, my gosh. You were right.
- 27:30Come on, you've got to get out of here.
- 27:33I've got check on Walter. He's back at his tent taking
- 27:35a break.
- 27:36Are you sure that's a good idea?
- 27:38I'm not going to leave him there to unknowingly get attacked by whatever
- 27:41those things are.
- 27:43Okay, well, meet me at the head tent
- 27:46in ten minutes.
- 27:47Okay?
- 27:47Got it. Dave Woahhan has just
- 27:50discovered these strange monsters have taken over
- 27:52their carnival, and, uh, they seem intent
- 27:55on attacking the people there. You just
- 27:58promised Maribel that you would meet her at the main tent in, like, ten
- 28:01ish minutes, and, uh, you watched her rush off
- 28:03to go save her kissing booth
- 28:07partner. Not like that kind of partner, but just
- 28:09like, coworker, um,
- 28:12who is over in his tent taking his
- 28:15break from kissing people for
- 28:18money. And you find
- 28:21yourself standing there amongst a massive, just
- 28:24panicking crowd of people who are running this way and that way throughout
- 28:26the carnival, knocking things over, uh,
- 28:29pushing through tents, going into tents, rushing out
- 28:32of tents in fear as something follows them from
- 28:35behind. What are you doing?
- 28:37Oh, my goodness. This
- 28:39is madness.
- 28:42Madness. This is no.
- 28:45Okay, sorry. Um, what would
- 28:48Globe do?
- 28:51WWGD.
- 28:51Get your WWGD bracelets
- 28:54today. Wwghd
- 28:57globe. Han could be where's Han is.
- 29:00Last name.
- 29:00All right, so Guo's, he's
- 29:04thinking he's got to meet up with Maribel
- 29:07at the main tent, the head
- 29:10tent. Um, but they're going to get
- 29:13out of here. They're going
- 29:15to need probably something to get
- 29:18through this crowd.
- 29:20Sure.
- 29:20This madness. Okay, so
- 29:23he's going to
- 29:26go back to the
- 29:28camel font cage
- 29:31okay. The camel font pen,
- 29:34um, and try to get a ride.
- 29:37Okay.
- 29:37All right, so you rush back over to,
- 29:40uh, something, you know, the path to, no matter what,
- 29:43because of how many times you've had to clean it and feed
- 29:46the camel fence. You rush over to the camel fence
- 29:49tent, and there it is. Uh, it definitely looks a
- 29:51bit spooked. It seems to be a little bit fearful, uh,
- 29:54of the situation at hand with people running by, screaming. It's
- 29:57not used to this kind of noise. Noise for sure, with the
- 30:00carnival sounds and everything, but not this kind of noise. Um, and it definitely
- 30:03looks very skittish.
- 30:06Hey, easy there, peanut. Calm
- 30:10down. Uh, I got something for
- 30:14you. And go
- 30:17to the nearest trash can and pick out, like,
- 30:20some popcorn or something,
- 30:23okay?
- 30:24There's plenty of that. I mean, you wouldn't even have to go to the trash can.
- 30:26Somebody probably dropped their bag
- 30:30of fruity popcorn or
- 30:32whatever.
- 30:35Fireflakes.
- 30:35Somebody dropped their bag of fireflakes on the ground.
- 30:37So I'm going to try to get peanuts attention
- 30:40with this carton of
- 30:43popcorn okay? Um, and draw its focus away from
- 30:46all the chaos going on around it.
- 30:48Sure.
- 30:49Let me have you, um oh, interesting.
- 30:52Okay.
- 30:52I was about to have you rely on your skills and training, but I think it'd be
- 30:55more appropriate to do a comfort and
- 30:58support. Comfort or support? So it says when you comfort
- 31:01or support another well, it says person, but in this
- 31:04case, it's an animal. You're going to roll with
- 31:08harmony. And, uh, if you hit, they
- 31:11must.
- 31:11Decide if they open up to you.
- 31:15Okay.
- 31:16Easy, girl.
- 31:17I got a nine.
- 31:20Okay.
- 31:21Uh, yeah, that's a hit. Um, it will decide
- 31:24to open up to you. You are a friend, and it knows well,
- 31:27you've fed it, you've cleaned up after it, you've spent time with it. So
- 31:29it is definitely, honestly, uh, glad that you
- 31:32are there. And you can tell it is very scared,
- 31:35but it's glad to know that you're there. So
- 31:38it instantly comes rushing up to the fence over
- 31:41by where you are and nuzzles you a little
- 31:44bit and eats, uh, a little bit of the
- 31:47popcorn and seems to be a little bit calmer now
- 31:50that you've come, a familiar face is there to kind of calm it
- 31:53down.
- 31:54Okay.
- 31:54All right, so Guohan's going to need to.
- 31:58Get peanuts.
- 32:00Uh, like, what do they call it?
- 32:03A palaquin or something like
- 32:05the platform that goes on top of it so.
- 32:08You can ride on top. Oh, okay. Yeah, I know what you're
- 32:11talking about.
- 32:12Kind of like a saddle, but it's more of just like a
- 32:15box platform.
- 32:17Okay.
- 32:17Uh, you know that it is kept, I mean, in the, uh,
- 32:20tent pretty close by to the.
- 32:25Skull.
- 32:25All right. Going to be hard getting this on
- 32:28you by myself, but I'll see what I
- 32:30can do. Might have to
- 32:33use a little
- 32:36earth.
- 32:37Bending, something we've never seen before.
- 32:39Yeah.
- 32:40So GLOW's gonna lead Peanut
- 32:42over here, and he's gonna
- 32:45basically just gonna position the saddle on
- 32:48the ground and then make some pillars coming up.
- 32:51So it'll be basically like
- 32:53an improvised.
- 32:55Carport for this elephant.
- 32:56Okay.
- 32:56Yeah, no, I see what you're saying. So two columns come
- 33:00up holding, uh, the sides of
- 33:03this, uh, platform piece. And then you're just going to walk the
- 33:05camel fent under it and then lower it down
- 33:08on top. Uh,
- 33:11again, because it knows you, it trusts you. It doesn't seem
- 33:14to be bothered by this at all. It allows you to
- 33:17do your thing to get it taken
- 33:20care of. Um, but as you
- 33:23are strapping it in, a, uh,
- 33:25sound comes from behind the tent and seems to be making
- 33:28its way towards you. And it sounds
- 33:34like and you turn to see that one of those horrific
- 33:37creatures that you ran into earlier is walking towards you
- 33:40with its arms outstretched in sort of a
- 33:42limp fashion. And it moans as it continues to
- 33:45move towards you.
- 33:47M oh, sweet custard. Where'd
- 33:50you come from?
- 33:52River island. What does this thing
- 33:55look like? It's human being.
- 33:58But it is just grossly.
- 34:00Ah. Wadded. And one of its
- 34:03eyes seems to be popped out of its
- 34:06socket and just kind of hanging there. Real
- 34:09grossly. The thing that doesn't intrigue you is that it's
- 34:12not losing blood anywhere. Um, it
- 34:15just looks like it's
- 34:18goopy, like it's, like I said, molding or rotting for
- 34:21some time.
- 34:22Decomposed, you might say.
- 34:26You.
- 34:29Stink.
- 34:30Hey, the carnival is close, bud.
- 34:32No.
- 34:32After hours visits, it continues to move.
- 34:35Towards you as if it hadn't heard.
- 34:39You.
- 34:40I'm going to grab, uh, the
- 34:42broom, the poop broom off of the
- 34:46wall. Stay back. I know where
- 34:49this has been, and trust me, you don't want to come
- 34:52any closer.
- 34:53Uh, do an intimidate, which is
- 34:55with.
- 34:58Passion.
- 34:58With passion, I get a
- 35:01ten.
- 35:02Okay, so on a ten plus, uh, you
- 35:05pick one of the options, and they are not allowed to choose it. So
- 35:08the options are they run to escape, to
- 35:11get backup. Um, they back down, but
- 35:13keep watch. They give in with a few
- 35:17stipulations, or they attack you, but off balance,
- 35:20and I mark a condition on them.
- 35:22Okay. I don't
- 35:25want him to get back. Uh, up.
- 35:28Okay, that is a good point. I didn't think about that. Um, well, with that
- 35:31being said, he is going to attack you, but off balance, uh,
- 35:34you use the broom. As you intimidate him, he
- 35:37keeps moving closer and you start poking at him. And it
- 35:40actually trips him, uh, up. I'm going to as strange as
- 35:42this might sound, I'm going to mark this zombie
- 35:45as afraid. You
- 35:48just knocked him down, and he was not expecting that.
- 35:51And now he is very confused. Or
- 35:53it rather is very confused.
- 35:56Also.
- 35:56I already just threw the term zombie out there. I broke the
- 35:59first rule of zombies, which is you never call
- 36:02them zombies. You call them walkers
- 36:05or the undead or, uh,
- 36:08I don't know, what else have they used out there?
- 36:11Rotters.
- 36:11Whatever the case, it is now afraid, which gives it
- 36:14a minus two to intimidate, um, and
- 36:17call someone out.
- 36:18Correct.
- 36:18Which in this case, intimidate is kind of the key thing.
- 36:21You've knocked it over. You've seen how kind of I don't want to
- 36:24say fragile, per se, but how kind of uncoordinated
- 36:27they are. So to you, they're a little bit less scary,
- 36:30um, to an extent. Uh, it is starting to pick
- 36:33itself up off the ground. What are you going to.
- 36:38Do?
- 36:39I'm going to grab one of the buckets,
- 36:41uh, also on the side of this
- 36:44pen and see, like, take this,
- 36:47you smelly lout dunk.
- 36:50Um, it over his head. Pull
- 36:53the old skyrim chop.
- 36:56Keep the bucket on the sneaker. All
- 36:59right, perfect. I'm going to say that this is an
- 37:02exchange at this point.
- 37:04Okay.
- 37:05Uh, so I'm going to switch over to my combat
- 37:08moves. So I would put that
- 37:11under evade and observe. And I would call that
- 37:13a bolster or hinder, and in this case,
- 37:16hinder, he is going to be doing
- 37:19defendant maneuver. He is simply going to be seizing a position, which is picking
- 37:22himself off the ground. So as he picks himself up off the
- 37:25ground, you're going to roll, uh, with
- 37:28creativity or harmony, and we'll see if you're
- 37:31able to hinder him with a bucket on the
- 37:34dude creative.
- 37:37Nice. Um, they only got a four four total.
- 37:40So you go to put this bucket over his
- 37:43head, and he's able to kind of just dodge out of the way, and the
- 37:46bucket falls onto the ground. And now it's kind of close by him,
- 37:48and you're like, oh, I don't know if I want to reach past him to try to
- 37:51grab it, because he's right there, and he's kind of
- 37:54gross and spooky.
- 37:56I got it on my
- 37:59hands. Gross.
- 38:01So stay back.
- 38:06Uh, do you want to continue with the, uh,
- 38:09exchange, maybe try another move on
- 38:12the list?
- 38:13Yeah. Okay.
- 38:14I got to try to lead him underneath, uh,
- 38:17the saddle that's still suspended.
- 38:20Okay.
- 38:20Um, and away from the camel
- 38:23font.
- 38:24Okay.
- 38:25Um, I would call that I mean, I would say
- 38:28seize a position. Probably be the best bet
- 38:31here. So you'll be doing defendant maneuver. Uh,
- 38:34he is going to be doing an evade and observe, and he is going
- 38:36to also be doing a bolster hinder to
- 38:39basically just try to grab you. Um,
- 38:42so you'll get to roll first.
- 38:45Focus.
- 38:46I got a ten or no, a twelve.
- 38:48Oh, my gosh.
- 38:49Wow.
- 38:49You have a list of things that you can do, uh,
- 38:52including choosing two different options, uh,
- 38:55basic or mastered techniques, or using a
- 38:58practice technique, or marking one fatigue to use a
- 39:01learned technique.
- 39:02I'm going to do one of my
- 39:05learned techniques.
- 39:08Okay.
- 39:08Um called Pinpoint Aim.
- 39:11Okay, tell me a little bit about Pinpoint
- 39:14aim.
- 39:14So Pinpoint Aim says, take the time you
- 39:17need to line up a perfect shot,
- 39:20become prepared in the next exchange. If
- 39:23you advance an attack roll with focus
- 39:26or passion. If you choose strike, you do
- 39:29not have to mark fatigue to choose what
- 39:31you inflict.
- 39:33Okay.
- 39:33So in this case, uh, the idea is
- 39:36that he's going to go underneath.
- 39:38This thing, and I'm going to drop it on him. Okay,
- 39:40sounds good. All right, so you use that time,
- 39:43you use your technique to get under the camel fin
- 39:46in the right spot and really set things up for
- 39:49your favor. The, uh, zombie was going to use bolster to
- 39:52hinder, but you got away, and so it
- 39:55is unable to impede you, but it
- 39:58does follow after you. So it's moving your way
- 40:00at whatever you'd like to do next.
- 40:03So I'm going to just be like,
- 40:06hey, buddy, what's.
- 40:10Up?
- 40:10And then I'm going to lower my pillars
- 40:13and drop the thing off.
- 40:16All right, sounds good. Uh, I won't make a roll for it
- 40:19because it's lifted the pillars as it is. Uh,
- 40:22so these come crashing down. I mean, all
- 40:25things considered, it kind of would fall under, um,
- 40:28a smash, I
- 40:31suppose.
- 40:32Yeah.
- 40:32Be advanced and attack.
- 40:34Yeah. Okay.
- 40:34So I'll have you roll with that just to since it
- 40:37is technically one of those, I guess.
- 40:40Yeah.
- 40:40So I can roll with focus, art, passion. I have plus one
- 40:43to both.
- 40:44Awesome.
- 40:44And then since I'm prepared, I also get
- 40:47a plus. Do they stack?
- 40:49Yeah, I think so.
- 40:5213. Holy cow. Yeah, I did get you got a
- 40:5513.
- 40:55Nice.
- 40:56Okay, so again, there's that list of all the different things that you can
- 40:59do. Getting a ten plus mark one fatigue to use a
- 41:02learn technique, use one practice technique,
- 41:04use two basic or mastered
- 41:07techniques. I'm going to strike
- 41:10them. Strike?
- 41:12Yeah.
- 41:13Like, physically, or you're just going to do the thing you had talked
- 41:15about?
- 41:16I do the thing. Okay, sounds
- 41:19good. That's a basic method. Yes, basic.
- 41:22So technically, you could use two.
- 41:25Right.
- 41:25And then as part of my pinpoint aim, I
- 41:28don't have to mark fatigue to
- 41:31choose what I inflict.
- 41:32Correct.
- 41:33You're going to do, like, strike
- 41:35twice.
- 41:36Okay.
- 41:37Um, actually, no. Uh, yeah. Mark
- 41:40two fatigue and then,
- 41:43uh, trap them.
- 41:44Yeah, that makes sense.
- 41:45Okay.
- 41:46I was kind of hoping you would. All right, so you are doing
- 41:48two strikes. Um, describe to me what two
- 41:51strikes are, since one is, like, dropping the thing
- 41:54on him. Is there a second thing?
- 41:55Well, I mean, it's the thing hitting its head, and then
- 41:58it hitting the floor.
- 42:00Okay, sounds good. All right. So not only does
- 42:03this platform piece come falling down onto
- 42:06this undead creature, uh, it knocks
- 42:09it flattening it up against the ground, holding it
- 42:12down, holding it trapped. It is, uh,
- 42:15obviously exhausted. It tries to get up. It
- 42:17cannot lift this platform that's on top of it. So it
- 42:20is basically completely disabled at this
- 42:23point on the ground, struggling underneath the
- 42:26weight of this sort of platform saddle
- 42:29type deal.
- 42:30A solid hit by Guo. Did you see that
- 42:33peanut? Did you see
- 42:36that? Oh, well, now your saddle's, uh
- 42:40all wow.
- 42:41Great.
- 42:42How do you feel about killing bareback
- 42:45peanut? All right. Uh, maybe I can find some rope
- 42:48or something. Uh, so I got to look around.
- 42:49And find it does have some on
- 42:53its, like, a muzzle almost. Not some sort of
- 42:55mouth, but just like a rain.
- 42:57Yeah, I guess this will have to
- 43:00do. Um, so, yeah, I'm just going to climb
- 43:04up.
- 43:05Um, it's a little uncomfortable, but you're able to do it. You've had
- 43:08many years of experience writing animals at the zoo. Usually,
- 43:11uh, a lot of people put you in charge of kind of getting them
- 43:14ready.
- 43:15Yes.
- 43:16All right, girl, let's
- 43:19go find those
- 43:22kissing.
- 43:24Fools. Awesome.
- 43:25So where are you writing off to?
- 43:27I think I'm just going to head towards the kissing booth.
- 43:30Okay, sounds good. Um, you start heading over towards
- 43:33the Kissing Booth, and, uh, things
- 43:36are starting to die down a little bit, but you can definitely
- 43:38still hear some various screams
- 43:41and shouts of terror throughout the carnival. Kind
- 43:44of more on the outskirts. You're kind of a little bit more towards the
- 43:47center of the carnival ground, and you make it to the Kissing Booth.
- 43:50And, uh, there's not too many people around. But, uh,
- 43:53what you do see is Khalik
- 43:56himself is, uh, he looks like he's hiding behind
- 43:59the kissing Booth, and he sees you coming and
- 44:01he says.
- 44:03Goo, what are you doing on the camel fan?
- 44:06I'm getting out of here.
- 44:07Khalik, have you seen all these dark spirits that are
- 44:10around? They seem to be quite dangerous.
- 44:12Yeah, you've seen them, too. That's why I'm hitting the
- 44:15road.
- 44:16Something is very wrong.
- 44:18Very wrong indeed. Gotta get out of this
- 44:21mess. Get out where it's clear.
- 44:24Yes. Okay.
- 44:25Do you mind if I ride?
- 44:27Yeah, yeah, come on up.
- 44:28Uh, many thanks.
- 44:29He hustles uh, up. He's not quite as practiced as you are on getting onto
- 44:32the ammo, but he manages to get up eventually.
- 44:35Klik.
- 44:36Kalik.
- 44:36Have you seen Mirabelle
- 44:38or Walter?
- 44:40Unfortunately, I have not. Not since we were discussing
- 44:43things at the Kissing Booth earlier.
- 44:45Uh, no. Well, maybe she headed
- 44:48to the head tent anyways.
- 44:51Yes, and we should check on Chang while we're
- 44:54there. Something tells me that he has something to do with
- 44:57all.
- 44:58Hmm.
- 44:58You know, you could
- 45:01be right.
- 45:02And, uh, as you guys ride, uh, it doesn't take you too
- 45:05long. I mean, it's not like a hugely sprawled out
- 45:08carnival area. But, uh, eventually you do get to the
- 45:11main tent standing out front, holding a
- 45:14scepter, which now kind of has a, um, light
- 45:17glow around the sort of ball of it on
- 45:19the end. Um, is Chang
- 45:23himself, and he seems to be
- 45:25almost beaming with happiness at the
- 45:28moment.
- 45:29And he says, Ah, yes, my
- 45:31boy GuoHan and my main man, Calic.
- 45:34Two strong hands to help me with the next step of the
- 45:37plan. Oh, and it looks like you've brought a pack
- 45:40animal, too. How perfect.
- 45:42Chan?
- 45:43Yeah.
- 45:43What on earth are you doing?
- 45:45What are you talking about, boy?
- 45:47And what's the deal with that staff
- 45:49anyways?
- 45:50What, this old
- 45:53thing? Well, that shouldn't really matter to you
- 45:55right now. What does matter is that
- 45:58you and Calic take that big beastie into town and start
- 46:01loading it up with all the money, goods and valuables you can
- 46:04find. I'm talking jewels, gold,
- 46:07family heirlooms, whatever you can find. Once we've
- 46:10got everything loaded up, we can take it over to the next town
- 46:13with us and sell it all off. We're gonna
- 46:15be rich.
- 46:17What?
- 46:17I can't believe what I'm hearing right now.
- 46:20What? The people here are terrified,
- 46:23running around, hiding. Now is the
- 46:26perfect time for the looting to begin.
- 46:29Chang, do you have anything to do with what's going on
- 46:32here?
- 46:32Like I said, you don't need to
- 46:35be asking any questions. All you need to
- 46:38do is exactly what I tell you to
- 46:41do. Or do I need to get the paperwork out and
- 46:44remind you who owns you?
- 46:46And, uh, Khalik leans forward and he says, Go.
- 46:49Oh.
- 46:49That staff in his hand, it seems to be glowing with some kind
- 46:52of spirit energy.
- 46:53I think that no, it
- 46:56can't be.
- 46:57What is it, Kalik?
- 46:58I think Chang is using that staff, uh, to control
- 47:01these evil spirits.
- 47:02Is that ah.
- 47:03What's going on? Oh, it's worse than
- 47:06I thought.
- 47:07Kalik shouts out, uh to chang. He says,
- 47:10Chang, I don't know what kind of evil spirit magic
- 47:13you are working with, but I think you are out of
- 47:16your league, and I think.
- 47:18You need to get rid of that staff.
- 47:20Uh and Chang says what?
- 47:23Get rid of the staff? Heck,
- 47:25no. I had to trade some valuable information to
- 47:28some dangerous men for this staff, and now
- 47:31it's all I've got. But, boy, is
- 47:34it
- 47:36something. Now, I'm going to tell
- 47:39you one more time. Take
- 47:41that camelphant into town and start
- 47:44looting up. If you don't, well,
- 47:47Calic, I'm going to have to fire you.
- 47:49And Kalik says, Jang, I don't know.
- 47:52What you think you're doing or why, but the power of the
- 47:55spirits was not meant to be possessed by human
- 47:58hands. You need to get rid of that staff
- 48:01immediately.
- 48:01And he climbs down from the camel fintech, and as
- 48:04he does, Chang raises the staff,
- 48:07and some of the, uh, undead in the area start to kind of
- 48:10start moving towards you and congregating
- 48:13around.
- 48:14Says Calic, I'm going to
- 48:17give you one last
- 48:20chance. Join me. Do as I say,
- 48:23or face the
- 48:26consequences.
- 48:27Kalik starts kind of turning around, very fearful, looking
- 48:30in every direction, not sure what to do, as these things are
- 48:33starting to surround him.
- 48:34You've gone too far this time,
- 48:37Chang. I don't give a dang about
- 48:40your paperwork. I'm not
- 48:43your dog. Khalik's one of my few friends
- 48:46here in this miserable place. One of the few
- 48:49bright spots in my monotonous day
- 48:51of chores and dung
- 48:54and mushy fruit that
- 48:56sometimes stinks. Where do you get that
- 48:59stuff, anyways?
- 49:00From the same shady characters that gave
- 49:03me this staff. Maybe you and
- 49:06Calic need a bit of a rundown on what this staff is
- 49:09all about. To properly motivate you,
- 49:12to follow orders. See,
- 49:14this staff was created by a very special
- 49:17blacksmith living in the North Pole. He hunted down
- 49:20and trapped a grave spirit there and fused it
- 49:23with this staff. Without that spirit of
- 49:26the grave to guide lost souls to the
- 49:29afterlife, those who died in the area were trapped right
- 49:32along with it. And now I
- 49:35control all those souls who are able to possess
- 49:37the bodies of the deceased, and they
- 49:40do whatever I say. If I
- 49:43say attack someone, they do it. If
- 49:46I say take things, they take
- 49:48them. Heck, if I were to tell them to
- 49:51eat someone, they do that,
- 49:54too.
- 49:54Uh, where is Kalika? Is he still on the elephant
- 49:57or the camel font?
- 49:59He got off, and he's standing just on the ground right
- 50:02next to the camel.
- 50:03Fin.
- 50:04As these undead creatures are kind of starting to move.
- 50:09In. Yet another creature in a cage to add to
- 50:12your
- 50:15menagerie.
- 50:16Well, that's what the carnival is all.
- 50:18About, isn't it, Guo? Uh, creatures in
- 50:21cages performing for the paying audience to
- 50:23see.
- 50:24Well, that's one ticket I won't be buying.
- 50:27Oh, yeah? And what are you going to
- 50:29do about it?
- 50:31Suck stones? Chang and I pull
- 50:34out my pouch.
- 50:35Of pebbles from
- 50:38my no, that totally checks out. Okay, so,
- 50:41yeah, you have this pocket full of pebbles. What are you doing with these pebbles?
- 50:44I'm going to try to shoot
- 50:46one at Chang's fingers
- 50:49to get him to drop this
- 50:53staff.
- 50:53Uh, because you have this bag of pebbles from
- 50:56the game in the first place, that would suggest to me that you
- 50:59have involved yourself in either running the game
- 51:02or at the very least, helping with it a few times or two. So I'm
- 51:05going to call this rely on your skills and training.
- 51:08So guo is he's
- 51:10envisioning?
- 51:12Yes.
- 51:12That weak spot.
- 51:13Uh, yeah, I would definitely say that because you have a lot
- 51:16of training with this, I'd say you definitely have a plus one.
- 51:19Sort of a preparation, in a sense of doing this
- 51:22little maneuver here. As you shoot this rock towards
- 51:25his fingers, as you're about to shoot this
- 51:28pebble, maribel and Walter come running out
- 51:31towards the main tent, which is where you told them to meet
- 51:33them.
- 51:34Guao I what's going on?
- 51:37And for a moment, Chang
- 51:39is distracted by the fact that these two figures
- 51:42you were kind of expecting it, know they had to get
- 51:45here eventually. But Chang is a little bit distracted, having seen
- 51:48two more employees and having a lot to focus on at the
- 51:51moment. So he's a little distracted. So I'd say you have a
- 51:53plus one on top of it.
- 51:55Roll with focus. I got a seven.
- 51:58You got a seven. You do it imperfectly.
- 52:01The GM tells you how your approach might lead
- 52:04to unexpected
- 52:06consequences. Accept those consequences or
- 52:09mark one fatigue. So the consequences of
- 52:12you missing could cause you
- 52:15to hit Chang
- 52:18himself. And that won't be enough to knock, like, outside of
- 52:21his hand, but in a way that doesn't knock the staff out
- 52:24of his hand, and that might make
- 52:27his anger and attention turn towards
- 52:29you instead. So right now, he's kind of
- 52:32focused on taking down
- 52:34Khalique.
- 52:35Yeah, that sounds good.
- 52:38Okay.
- 52:38Sounds good. So you fire this little
- 52:41pebble out of your fingers, kind of like a kid playing marble.
- 52:44You just right between your thumb and
- 52:46index finger, and it goes flying forward, and you're hoping that
- 52:49you can hit his hand to knock the staff out of his hand,
- 52:52but instead, you hit him
- 52:55smack dab in the
- 52:57chin.
- 52:58Boy, I'm going to have to teach you
- 53:01a lesson.
- 53:02And he moves his staff, and he points it over at you. And
- 53:05all the zombie creatures start to move towards
- 53:08the camel fence with you riding on top of
- 53:12it. And as this happens, that's
- 53:15when Maribel.
- 53:16She shouts, guel, what's going on?
- 53:18Ah. Uh, walter Maribel.
- 53:21Perfect timing. I've got bags in the tent.
- 53:24Grab them and start looting the town while I take care of these
- 53:26two troublemakers.
- 53:28What?
- 53:29Looting?
- 53:29What are you talking about? What's going on? And what about all
- 53:32these monsters attacking everyone?
- 53:34And then she sees that the monsters are all kind of standing
- 53:37around, and then she know Chang
- 53:41pointing the staff towards you, and everything starts to kind of click in
- 53:44her head as she sees that the zombies are moving towards you. The
- 53:47staff is pointed at you. He just talked about teaching you
- 53:49and colleague a lesson. And she realizes that
- 53:52he's obviously the one that's in control of these
- 53:56creatures.
- 53:56Look out, Maribel. Chang's totally
- 53:59lost it.
- 54:00She's gonna rush towards Chang in hopes
- 54:03of tackling him or something along those lines. And
- 54:06he takes a swing at her, and he hits her in the
- 54:09head with his big old scepter, and
- 54:12it knocks her to the ground, and she just lays
- 54:15there. Maribel, no.
- 54:17You dirty, rotten hog monkey.
- 54:20I didn't want to have to hurt your friend,
- 54:22Guo, but I'm going to have to continue hurting them
- 54:25until you do as I say. So what
- 54:28is it going to be, boy?
- 54:31That's what I'm going to be like. So,
- 54:34from my experience working with this
- 54:36camel font, it's got one of
- 54:39its moves in the show. Is this, like,
- 54:41fancy dismount. Okay, so I'm going to
- 54:44be like
- 54:47peanut dismount.
- 54:48Okay.
- 54:49I'm going to slide down the
- 54:52trunk.
- 54:52Okay, sure. Uh, yeah, go for, uh, another. Rely on
- 54:55your skills and training. You're really doing a
- 54:58lot that fits GLOW's character things that he
- 55:01would do at the.
- 55:05Carnival.
- 55:06That's going to be a six.
- 55:08And then this would be another thing that I would give you a plus
- 55:11one on, just because, like I said, you've done it a lot. You've worked
- 55:14with this animal a lot. You'd hit the seven. The,
- 55:17uh, possibility of failure involves
- 55:20not, uh, landing quite the way that you wanted
- 55:23to. You might crash into
- 55:26a zombie. You might fall,
- 55:29uh, flat on your face, something along
- 55:31those lines.
- 55:32Um, I'm just going to take an exhaustion.
- 55:34Okay.
- 55:35Take your maximum effort.
- 55:37All right, sounds good. You take the fatigue and then
- 55:39describe to me what it is that you are jumping off
- 55:42this camel fent and doing in such a fancy way.
- 55:45So I'm just going to try to
- 55:48fly directly at, ah, Chang.
- 55:51Okay, sounds good. You go flying towards
- 55:54Chang, and you crash into the van, and both of
- 55:56you hit the ground, and the scepter rolls
- 55:59out of his hand, and both of you kind of do that thing where you
- 56:02both look up and you see the Scepter laying there, and you both start
- 56:05scrambling for it. I mean, I assume you scrambled.
- 56:11For.
- 56:13Scepter, but as you're scrambling,
- 56:16uh, Khalik leaps forward and
- 56:19grabs Chang's foot, and he is
- 56:21basically helping, which is going to give you that plus one. He's going to mark
- 56:24a fatigue in order to do that, but he's able
- 56:27to help a companion. Chang tries to
- 56:30pull away from his grasp, and he manages to, but it
- 56:33gives you a little bit of initiative, but you really got to scramble for it,
- 56:36and it causes you to kind of, like, strain yourself in a way that kind of
- 56:39causes some pain. So, um, that's why it causes, uh,
- 56:42a fatigue in order to grab, uh, it but now you've
- 56:45got it. You've got it in your hand, but Chang is still crawling
- 56:47towards.
- 56:51You.
- 56:51We're both on the ground crawling. I'm trying
- 56:54to scramble up, um, and
- 56:56disengage and get my legs clear.
- 56:59Okay.
- 57:00Um, yeah, it's trying to get up in a
- 57:03way.
- 57:04Uh, all right, you're able to do that.
- 57:07Like I said, with the help with Kalik and everything, you're, uh, able
- 57:10to scramble your way up onto your feet. You're
- 57:12standing above Chang with this
- 57:16scepter.
- 57:16Uh, whoa, whoa, whoa. Now, let's not do
- 57:19anything hasty here. You give me back
- 57:21the scepter, and
- 57:24I'll give you 30% of what we loot from the
- 57:27town. How about that?
- 57:29So what does the scepter look like?
- 57:32So, it is like a
- 57:34wood stick staff. It's a nice,
- 57:37sturdy stick, and it's kind of scraggly along
- 57:40the way as it comes up. And then it has, like, almost
- 57:43a roots, as if it was like a
- 57:46sapling that got ripped out of the ground. And the roots are kind of
- 57:49curled around the scepter sphere at
- 57:52the end, uh, which is
- 57:55green color. And as you hold it, you can kind
- 57:57of feel this very powerful,
- 58:00um, spirit energy sort of, uh, pulsing. You can feel it
- 58:03kind of almost come all the way to your wrist. Almost
- 58:06a refreshing feeling, um, but with
- 58:09a hint of sting to it. Just a hint of sting
- 58:12to it.
- 58:12Uh, so I gaze at this staff.
- 58:15I'm like, all right,
- 58:18spirit, time to set you free. I'm going to try
- 58:21to plant the staff into the
- 58:25ground, uh, using earth bending okay.
- 58:28And then going to attempt to do,
- 58:31uh, kind of spin with both arms. So
- 58:34the staff is planted, and I'm going to spin around with
- 58:37both arms and do kind of like
- 58:40a 360 with my arms coming
- 58:42up okay. At, uh, 45 degrees
- 58:46to bring a chunk of earth, like, out of the
- 58:48ground.
- 58:49Okay.
- 58:50Kind of like, uh, how people do what is it, hammer
- 58:53throw?
- 58:53Yeah.
- 58:53So it's kind of like, the hammer throw, and you're about
- 58:56to smash it into the stone at the end of
- 58:59the scepter.
- 59:00Yeah, I'm trying to plant the scepter so it's,
- 59:02like, half into the ground.
- 59:05Okay.
- 59:05And then just, like, shear off the top half
- 59:08with this
- 59:11rock strike.
- 59:12Perfect. Awesome.
- 59:13You spin. You spin, and
- 59:16then you hear Chang
- 59:19scream, shatter the top half of, uh,
- 59:22the stone on the middle of the scepter. And you watch as
- 59:24the glowing energy that was inside of it
- 59:27sort of forms into a
- 59:30shape. Uh, it turns darker. It goes from, like, that
- 59:33bright, glowing green to a deeper green.
- 59:36Deeper to the point where it turns into a black. And
- 59:39before you, you see, um, a
- 59:41large black cat,
- 59:44but, uh, its paws, like, kind of outstretched. And you see that
- 59:47it has feathery, crow like
- 59:50wings, um, that kind of connect its arm to
- 59:53its body. And then you notice that the
- 59:56tail that's sort of, um, moving
- 59:59back and forth isn't just like a regular tail. It's actually
- 1:00:01a snake with the very end of the tail
- 1:00:04being the head of the snake. And
- 1:00:07the spirit, uh, looks you in the eye, and
- 1:00:10it says, thank you for
- 1:00:13releasing me. And it turns
- 1:00:15to Chang and it says,
- 1:00:18although I am unable to do anything in this form
- 1:00:21to humans, know that
- 1:00:24my words will be taken to the utmost
- 1:00:26of authority. And you can expect
- 1:00:29an unpleasant place inside
- 1:00:32of Deku when you pass. And as
- 1:00:35it says that, it flies away. And Chang is just
- 1:00:38his face his jaw is just dropped as he
- 1:00:41stares. Something inside of him just
- 1:00:44seems in full doom and
- 1:00:47despair mode, and he just has no words to
- 1:00:50speak as he watches this creature fly away.
- 1:00:52And as Gwell watches it fly away, he's,
- 1:00:55like, just kind of talking to himself. He's
- 1:00:58just like, you're free,
- 1:01:02spirit. Free to go home to
- 1:01:05a place where you belong.
- 1:01:07Kalik steps, uh, up beside you, and.
- 1:01:09He says, you've done very well, Goo.
- 1:01:12Who knows how long that poor spirit was trapped inside
- 1:01:15that cage, unable to continue its purpose in
- 1:01:18life.
- 1:01:18Thanks for your help.
- 1:01:20Kalik.
- 1:01:20Of course. Couldn't have done it without you.
- 1:01:22No need to thank me, Goo. Your good intentions and
- 1:01:25clever skill stop Chang and his evil
- 1:01:27intentions.
- 1:01:28Maribel. Walt, are you okay?
- 1:01:31And, uh, Maribel,
- 1:01:34you notice that Maribel's not actually lying
- 1:01:36there anymore. Uh, she actually comes
- 1:01:39from inside of the main tent. She walks
- 1:01:42up to you, and she hands you
- 1:01:44some papers, and she says, I'm
- 1:01:47okay, Guo.
- 1:01:49I snuck into Ching's tent while he was distracted and
- 1:01:51got these.
- 1:01:52Uh, and you look at these papers, and
- 1:01:55they are, uh, sale receipts,
- 1:01:58essentially, for the purchase of you when you
- 1:02:01were but a child.
- 1:02:02The papers.
- 1:02:04Don't touch those. Those are mine.
- 1:02:07Give them back to me.
- 1:02:08Well, it's got my name on
- 1:02:11it.
- 1:02:12And Khalik kind of steps in front of you to
- 1:02:15keep him, uh, from getting any closer.
- 1:02:17And he says, you, you have
- 1:02:20held.
- 1:02:21Ownership over this boy. How dare you, you
- 1:02:23filthy slaver. Sign the papers over to the
- 1:02:26boy.
- 1:02:29Immediately. And why should I do that?
- 1:02:31Uh, that grave spirit said it would ensure you a
- 1:02:34dark place in the deepest parts of Deku.
- 1:02:37Um, but as someone who speaks with the spirits
- 1:02:40often, perhaps I can quell its anger and restore
- 1:02:43your fate after death to that of the rest of
- 1:02:46us. Or perhaps I can speak with
- 1:02:49other spirits who can corroborate your evil deeds
- 1:02:52tonight and talk the fates into sending you even
- 1:02:55deeper into hell to atone.
- 1:02:56For your no, wait
- 1:02:59a second. Let's work out a deal, all
- 1:03:02right? Um, okay, how's
- 1:03:05this? Quo can have weekends off. That's a
- 1:03:09fair okay, okay. He only
- 1:03:12has to work
- 1:03:15weekends.
- 1:03:17Fine.
- 1:03:17What's one kid? Give me the paperwork.
- 1:03:20I'll sign it.
- 1:03:22I can't believe this is happening. And I don't know,
- 1:03:25I'm just, like, in a rush over,
- 1:03:28like, with my arm on Maribel and the
- 1:03:30other one on Walt as
- 1:03:33I come up
- 1:03:36to just get a better view of him actually signing
- 1:03:38these papers.
- 1:03:40All right,
- 1:03:42here. Just take it
- 1:03:45and you can get out of here. I don't
- 1:03:48want you at my carnival anymore.
- 1:03:53Yippee. Do an Anakin
- 1:03:56Skywalker.
- 1:03:57Yippee.
- 1:03:57As I raise these papers into the
- 1:04:01air, uh, actually, I throw them into the air. I'm like,
- 1:04:04uh, oh, wait, I need
- 1:04:06those.
- 1:04:07Shoot.
- 1:04:07And, uh, your friends help you pick all up all
- 1:04:10the papers and get them back to you. And
- 1:04:13Maribel kind of looks at you a little bit sad, and, uh,
- 1:04:16she.
- 1:04:16Says, so, Guo, where will you
- 1:04:19go?
- 1:04:20Well, I think I'm going to seize a man
- 1:04:23about some tea.
