- 0:00Psalm 2 from the book of Psalms. First, let's pray dear Lord,
- 0:04please be with us as we read through this chapter and let the
- 0:07Holy Spirit open our eyes, our hearts and our minds to what you
- 0:10have to say. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
- 0:14So when I first looked at the Psalm, it's very, very short and
- 0:17I thought this is going to be a really quick one until I started
- 0:20reading and getting into a deeper and I found so much that
- 0:27needed to be explained or answers or questions.
- 0:31So this is something else that I noticed.
- 0:33Some of the Psalms are prophetic.
- 0:36For example, the one where David says some words that were
- 0:42actually the words that Jesus said when he was on the cross
- 0:46and he was actually repeating the the a quote are quoting
- 0:51Psalms and he was explaining what was being done to him at
- 0:55the cross. I talked about that I think in
- 0:56the last chapter. Well, Psalm 2 is actually
- 0:59prophetic and I didn't even know and in my Bible it doesn't say
- 1:03who wrote it. However, when I was searching, I
- 1:06found in the book of Acts that it was David who wrote this
- 1:10Psalm. So let's go to Acts chapter 4,
- 1:15verse 20. Well, we'll start at verse verse
- 1:1824 and and then read a little bit.
- 1:22So it says when they heard this, they raised their voices
- 1:26together in prayer to God, sovereign Lord.
- 1:30They said you made the heavens and the earth and everything in
- 1:33them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit
- 1:37through the mouth of your servant, our Father David, in
- 1:42quotations. Why do the nation's rage and the
- 1:45people's plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up,
- 1:49and the rulers band together against the Lord and against His
- 1:53anointed one. This is a reference to Psalm 2.
- 1:58So in the book of Acts, we find out that the Holy Spirit, well,
- 2:02God was speaking through the Holy Spirit that was given to
- 2:06David and they quoted exactly what David said.
- 2:11And then they explain a little bit more about this as well.
- 2:16So maybe I should read that too from just to kind of get the
- 2:22setting. So Acts chapter 4, verse 27, it
- 2:26says indeed, Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the
- 2:30Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire
- 2:34against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.
- 2:38So it's, it's actually clarifying who this Psalm is
- 2:41about because there's some confusion when you first read
- 2:45it. You're like, who is this about?
- 2:47Is this about David or is this about Jesus?
- 2:50And it's clarified in Acts chapter 4, because it's telling
- 2:55us there that Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the
- 2:59Gentiles and the people of Israel to conspire against your
- 3:03holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.
- 3:07So now we know that they, the the kings of the earth, rise up,
- 3:12and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his
- 3:16anointed one. Now this Psalm is even further
- 3:21complicated in that it is like a double fulfilled prophecy
- 3:26because it also talks about the end times.
- 3:31And only by studying this did I did this come to me as I was
- 3:36searching up all of these things.
- 3:38So it's really interesting, such a short Psalm, but it's
- 3:42prophetic and it has this foreshadowing with Jesus, but
- 3:48then this prophecy continues to the end times.
- 3:53So anyway, it says they did. They did what your power and
- 3:58will had decided beforehand should happen.
- 4:01So Pontius Pilot and Herod did exactly what God intended.
- 4:05He decided before what it would happen, says now, Lord, consider
- 4:10their threats and enable Your servants to speak Your word with
- 4:12great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal
- 4:15and perform signs and wonders through the name of Your holy
- 4:18servant, Jesus. After they prayed, the place
- 4:22where they were meeting was shaken and they were all filled
- 4:26with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
- 4:31So that's a pretty cool event that happened there.
- 4:36So let's go back to Psalm 2 and I'm going to just read through
- 4:40it so you can hear it and you kind of know a little bit of
- 4:43background information before we even start.
- 4:46But then I want to actually, I think I might want to read it in
- 4:49another version because it's it's actually clearer.
- 4:52So I'm going to I will read it because it it's clear about who
- 4:59the anointed 1 is being Jesus. So why are the nations in an
- 5:04uproar and the peoples devising A vain thing?
- 5:08The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take
- 5:12counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed,
- 5:16saying, let us tear their fetters apart and castaway their
- 5:21cords from us. He who sits in the heavens
- 5:24laughs. The Lord Lord scoffs at them.
- 5:27Then he will speak to them in his anger and terrify them in
- 5:32his fury, saying, But As for me, I have installed my king upon
- 5:37Zion, my holy mountain. I will surely tell of the decree
- 5:43of the Lord. He said to me, You are my Son
- 5:47today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will surely
- 5:52give the nations as your inheritance, and the very ends
- 5:57of the earth as your possession. You shall break them with a rod
- 6:02of iron. You shall shatter them like
- 6:04earthenware. Now therefore, O kings, show
- 6:07discernment. Take warning, O judges of the
- 6:11earth. Worship the Lord with reverence,
- 6:14and rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, that he
- 6:19will not become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath
- 6:24may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take
- 6:29refuge in Him? So it first of all, it's asking
- 6:34like why are these people conspiring when they're going up
- 6:39against God? It's the kings of the earth are
- 6:41coming together, they're banding together and they're against the
- 6:44Lord and against his anointed. 1 Anointed is in Hebrew is the
- 6:50same word for Messiah who is Jesus.
- 6:53And then in some translations it says let us break their chains
- 6:57and throw off their shackles. And those don't even look like a
- 7:01really good interpretation because when you look up the
- 7:05Hebrew words for chains and shackles, it can also mean bond
- 7:09and cord. And so if we're because chains
- 7:12and shackles, that sounds like you're imprisoned.
- 7:16And when they say these are the enemies of God saying let's
- 7:19break off their chains and their shackles, well, we aren't
- 7:22imprisoned. We aren't like in slavery to
- 7:25God. God gives free will to anyone
- 7:27who chooses to follow him. And so it's more like a bond and
- 7:32accord. And so I think that seems more
- 7:35relevant to the context and as one of the Hebrew definitions of
- 7:42that word, so it would read if it was translated that way.
- 7:45Let us break their bond and throw off their cord.
- 7:51So it you also think about like the a cord is used quite often,
- 7:56you know, being tied to God or God being a part of a cord, a
- 8:00connection with God. And this is what the enemy is
- 8:04trying to do to overthrow and to separate the people from the
- 8:09Lord. But then then from verse 4, it
- 8:13says, you know, God's in heaven laughing at him like, you know,
- 8:16like I'm going to just rebuke you and I'm installing Jesus, my
- 8:22king Jesus. And we know that it's Jesus and
- 8:26not necessarily David because of several different things that
- 8:30apply to Jesus throughout Scripture.
- 8:33So first of all, we know that God is going to reign from Zion,
- 8:37my holy mountain. So we know that's Jesus.
- 8:41We know that Jesus is the king of kings.
- 8:44Then we see that he says to me, and so this was where I really
- 8:48started questioning it because it said he said to me, you are
- 8:51my son today. I have become your father.
- 8:55And and so that really that confused me because I was like,
- 8:59OK, God said to me, you are my son today and I've become your
- 9:03father. And so then I was thinking,
- 9:05well, is that it wasn't like this was written thousands of
- 9:12years ago, and it was way before Jesus, you know, was born when
- 9:18this was written. So that I was like, OK, you are
- 9:23my son today. I have become your father.
- 9:27So that confused me. And it's apparently David who
- 9:31wrote this, but he was inspired by the Holy Spirit when he wrote
- 9:34this. And this was probably some, you
- 9:39know, Jesus obviously was a descendant of David.
- 9:44And there's probably more to this as far as the translation
- 9:50goes. But in another translation it
- 9:52says, I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord.
- 9:56He said to me, quote, you are my son today.
- 9:59I have begotten you. So this is, I think, just a
- 10:03prophetic statement that David said about Jesus.
- 10:08Now here's where we can see this more clearly.
- 10:13It says and I will make the nation's your inheritance, the
- 10:17nation's your inheritance. That means people are the
- 10:21inheritance, Well, the only ones who the only inheritance that is
- 10:29people is God's inheritance. So if it's God's inheritance
- 10:36that that would mean Jesus, wouldn't it, rather than David.
- 10:39Does David inherit people? And it says the ends of the
- 10:43earth, your possession. We know that Jesus is going to
- 10:46rule from the ends of the earth, from one end to the other.
- 10:50But David was to rule a portion of of the ends of the earth.
- 10:58He didn't have the whole ends of the earth under his rule.
- 11:02So again, this is like way too broad to mean to to be
- 11:06applicable to David. And then it says you will break
- 11:10them with a rod of iron or maybe like an iron scepter.
- 11:14Well, that's related to Jesus often in Scripture.
- 11:18So that is another place where it references Jesus and it says
- 11:22you will dash them to pieces like pottery.
- 11:25Well, that kind of references Daniel's vision in chapter 2,
- 11:29verses 34 and 30 and and 45 in Daniel 234.
- 11:37It says this was a dream and that I think, oh I think it was
- 11:46Nebuchadnezzar had the dream and Daniel interpreted it.
- 11:49But it says while you were watching a rock was cut out but
- 11:53not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet
- 11:59of iron and clay and smashed them.
- 12:02Now all of this is symbolic. So a rock was cut out but not by
- 12:07humans hands. It was by God and like Jesus is
- 12:11known as the rock. And so and then it struck the
- 12:15statue. The statue was symbolism of
- 12:19multiple kingdoms and within that dream it's explained how
- 12:24each Kingdom comes forth. It starts at the head and it
- 12:28works down to the feet. Well then it says here in Daniel
- 12:322 verse 34, it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and
- 12:38smashed them. That's the very last Kingdom
- 12:42that'll be on the the earth. It's iron and clay and it
- 12:45doesn't mix well and Jesus is going to crush that last
- 12:49Kingdom. So it there again it references
- 12:55Jesus in Daniel chapter 2 verse 45.
- 12:59It says this is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out
- 13:04of the mountain, but not by human hands.
- 13:07A rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and
- 13:13the gold to pieces. The great God has shown the king
- 13:17what will take place in the future.
- 13:21The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.
- 13:26So Daniel was also written like right after the Babylon or the
- 13:34Babylonians captured Judah, the southern Kingdom of Judah.
- 13:39And and so that was a long time ago in the BC time frame, so
- 13:43thousands of years again before Jesus was ever there.
- 13:46But all of these books, it's so interesting how in the Old
- 13:50Testament we see so much where Jesus is referenced and, and
- 13:54it's not, you know, it's just this one and this one and that,
- 13:57you know, each statement references Jesus.
- 14:00And so then it says, therefore you kings, be wise, be warned,
- 14:04you rulers of the earth, serve the Lord with fear and celebrate
- 14:08his rule. So now it's saying the Lord's
- 14:11rule with trembling. And you know, the fear of the
- 14:15Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but the fear is really reverence
- 14:20of God. It's it's having respect for
- 14:25God. So serve the Lord with respect
- 14:28and celebrate his rule with trembling.
- 14:33Kiss his son. So Jesus is the Son of God the
- 14:38Father or he will be angry. So there's a lot of people that
- 14:42think there's lots of different ways to God's Kingdom, but Jesus
- 14:47told us that he is the only way. And that's something that this
- 14:54is also saying. It's like kiss his son, like
- 14:56respect his Son or he will be angry and your way will lead you
- 15:02to your destruction. So the only way that you are
- 15:06going to be that we are going to be in the Kingdom of God is
- 15:10through Jesus. And so even back in this time
- 15:14frame, when this was written thousands of years ago, Jesus
- 15:19was the way and God had already planned this ahead of time.
- 15:22He knew all of this was going to happen, which is another
- 15:25interesting thing. And it says for his wrath can
- 15:29flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge
- 15:32in him. Now where does the Bible tell us
- 15:35that we are supposed to take refuge and kings or Queens or
- 15:39rulers or anything like that? It I will read so many verses
- 15:44that say how we are to take refuge in God, God alone and not
- 15:50and specifically in Psalm 118 and Psalm 119.
- 15:55It specifically says not to take refuge in leadership.
- 16:01And I might just read those last two verses if I had them.
- 16:09OK, Psalm 118 verses 8 through 9, it says it is better to take
- 16:15refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
- 16:19It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in
- 16:24Princess. So then it says, let's see, in
- 16:31Psalm 119, you are my refuge and my shield, and I have put my
- 16:35hope in your word. That wasn't the verse that I was
- 16:39actually looking for though. So that always happens when I'm
- 16:45trying to find something. But let me see if I can look up
- 16:49the one that I had written down, because I thought there were two
- 16:52of them that were right. Like it was Psalm 119 verse 9.
- 17:02Nope, that's not it. I must have written down
- 17:04something wrong. OK, I wrote something down
- 17:08wrong. Anyway, the bottom line is we're
- 17:12not supposed to take refuge. Israel got in trouble all the
- 17:15time with God because they would go to Egypt for help and God
- 17:19kept reminding them, I got you out of slavery and now you're
- 17:22going back to get help from Egypt once again.
- 17:25And so we know that God does not want them to be seeking anywhere
- 17:30else. So also when I read the
- 17:35beginning of Why do the Nations conspire in the People's Plot in
- 17:39vain? We know from the Book of Acts
- 17:42that that was about at the time when Jesus was, you know, before
- 17:46he was crucified, that people were turning against him.
- 17:49And so that is the first prophecy.
- 17:53But then, you know, if we get to the very end prophecy where
- 17:56Jesus returns that we were reading, you know, talking about
- 17:59just a few moments ago, where he's the rock that crushes all
- 18:02the pieces that like pottery. That's at the very end when
- 18:06Jesus returns, when he is installed as king in Jerusalem,
- 18:12which is called Zion for the future.
- 18:15My holy mountain, it's not holy right now.
- 18:19God's going to make it holy. But that's the place that God
- 18:22chose for his throne. That's where Jesus will rule
- 18:25from. And so we know from that that
- 18:29all of this is about, it's about the long, long time into the
- 18:35future from when this was first talked about.
- 18:38And we know also that the nations are going to surround
- 18:42Israel and they are going to the kings of the earth are going to
- 18:46rise up again and the rulers are going to band again, a gather
- 18:51band together again against God and against his anointed.
- 18:58The there's going to be enemies that surround that surround
- 19:03Israel. And it's, you know, it's
- 19:07interesting, like let us break their bond and throw off their
- 19:10shackles, their cord. That's always been what Satan
- 19:15has been trying to do with with God's people.
- 19:23And as I was preparing for this podcast, I noticed something
- 19:29that we know that Satan, like God, was disappointed with Satan
- 19:36because Satan became prideful and he wasn't happy with all
- 19:40that God had given him and all that God had blessed him with.
- 19:43He wanted people to worship him and and that's the thing that,
- 19:49you know, God's not going to share his worship with any.
- 19:52You know, he shared all he he created Satan and he gave Satan
- 19:56all of these things. And he said, you know, you were
- 19:58like a treasure until until iniquity was found in you and he
- 20:03was in the Garden of Eden. And you know, it says all of
- 20:06these things about Satan. And he was decorated like almost
- 20:10like in a priestly way. And he, you know, there were all
- 20:12these his beauty, he had wisdom, all these things that God gave
- 20:16him, all of these wonderful characteristics.
- 20:19But he wasn't happy with it. He wanted more and it was his
- 20:23pride that is causing all of the suffering that we are
- 20:28experiencing. Because Satan wants to, he has
- 20:32some kind of authority, probably because sin we like open the
- 20:36door to the enemy, not we. But Adam and Eve, when they
- 20:40sinned, when they rebelled against God, they gave that
- 20:43opening to Satan and somehow gave him some authority over
- 20:47this earth. Because we know when Jesus was,
- 20:52you know, after he was baptized and he, the Holy Spirit came up
- 20:57down upon him and then he led him into the wilderness where
- 21:01Satan tempted him. And Satan at one point said,
- 21:06look at this Kingdom, I can give you everything.
- 21:08And then he just said, basically just bow down to me and then
- 21:12I'll give you all this Kingdom. And Jesus said, you know, it's
- 21:15like worship the Lord your God and him alone.
- 21:18And that was his response. Jesus was responding to Satan
- 21:21with Scripture. But the thing was, Jesus didn't
- 21:24say, Satan, you don't, you can't have any of that.
- 21:27That's not yours. That's he didn't say that's not
- 21:30yours, that's that's mine. I mean, like in the future.
- 21:32Yeah. But at the time it, Satan does
- 21:36have some sort of control. It says that Satan roams, he's
- 21:39the ruler of the air and he roams the earth and he goes into
- 21:43the heavenly realms and back. So he has some access.
- 21:47So it, it seems like, I mean, Satan is a created being.
- 21:52He wants to be worshipped. It seems like Satan in some
- 21:55manner are the enemy. Whatever else is evil, whatever
- 21:59else he corrupted in the heavenly realms that agrees with
- 22:02him or thinks they're going to overthrow God's Kingdom, they
- 22:06want to be worshipped. And I, I almost believe that all
- 22:10of the religions that are not the true, the true, the way, the
- 22:14way, the truth and the life that says Jesus is our Messiah, that
- 22:19it's really been the manipulative, deceptive work of
- 22:23Satan and other enemies, spiritual enemies that have
- 22:28convinced people to believe in other religions.
- 22:32I think all other religions have been started by and through him
- 22:38over the thousands of years that he's been around.
- 22:42And, and it, the purpose is to take away from God.
- 22:45It's, it's, it's he wants to be worshipped and that's how he
- 22:48gets to be worshipped by religions that are not true.
- 22:52And no, and people don't realize they're actually worshipping
- 22:56Satan, But every other religion that denies the deity of Jesus,
- 23:00that denies Jesus as the son of God, those are all deceived
- 23:05religions. And and it yeah, that sounds
- 23:09probably like, you know, a lot of people don't like to hear
- 23:16that. But if you look at time frames
- 23:19of when these different religions came about and what
- 23:23was stated in the Bible and how many witnesses there were to
- 23:27Jesus and how his disciples would give up their own lives
- 23:33rather than say none of what we were telling you true, they died
- 23:39for the truth. And the only way a person would
- 23:42do that is because they know of something that's been promised
- 23:45to them by the Son of God. They believed, they truly
- 23:50believed, and that's why they were willing to die.
- 23:53And it says in Scripture that if anyone, an Angel or anyone else
- 24:00comes and tells you of a gospel, that's different from what is
- 24:04talked about in the Bible, meaning Jesus is our Savior, He
- 24:08is our rescuer. He's what makes it possible for
- 24:11us to inherit eternity. If anyone says something
- 24:17different than that, than that, they are of the Antichrist.
- 24:20They are against Christ, they are against the Messiah and let
- 24:23them be accursed. So it's something evil if anyone
- 24:28says anything that there is any other way besides Jesus besides
- 24:32exalting Jesus because he died for us.
- 24:37He laid down his life for us. So if any religionist is denying
- 24:42Jesus. So there's a lot of people, a
- 24:44lot of religions that will say he's a good person, but they
- 24:46don't say he's the Son of God and they don't say that he died
- 24:50for us. And that I'm going to talk a
- 24:53little bit about, you know, Jesus being the way, the truth
- 24:55and the life. I mean, just there's so much
- 24:58evidence and witnesses that support that that is who Jesus
- 25:03is. And that's what he did for us.
- 25:06So if any, if anybody's following any other like way and
- 25:10think they can get to eternity or God's Kingdom by any other
- 25:14way, they're being deceived by the enemy of God.
- 25:18So the enemy, I think wants to inherit the people and the land.
- 25:24And so I came across this before with a parable that Jesus told.
- 25:29But then today preparing for Psalm 2, I came across Numbers,
- 25:33the book, the book of Numbers, chapter 27, verses 8 through 11.
- 25:39And it really made sense to me because it says, say to the
- 25:42Israelites, if a man dies and leaves no son, give his
- 25:48inheritance to his daughter. If he has no daughter, give his
- 25:53inheritance to his brothers. If he has no brothers, give his
- 25:58inheritance to his father's brothers.
- 26:01If his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the
- 26:04nearest relative in his clan that he may possess it.
- 26:09This is to have the force of law for the Israelites as the Lord
- 26:14commanded Moses. And what's interesting is God is
- 26:19all God makes, all the laws. And so God established
- 26:23inheritance laws. And why do you think other
- 26:27religions say God has no son? They want to deny that there's
- 26:33somebody who's going to inherit the Kingdom, and that person who
- 26:38is going to inherit the Kingdom is Jesus.
- 26:42And so they want to deny he even exists.
- 26:44And now doesn't that even make all the sense in the world?
- 26:48How and why Jesus? They, they killed him on the
- 26:52cross. They thought that the enemy of
- 26:55God thought we got him now because we killed his son.
- 26:59He came and took a human form and now we killed him.
- 27:03God no longer has a son because he died on the cross.
- 27:07So they thought they won and they would get the inheritance,
- 27:12but little did they know that he didn't die.
- 27:16He died. Well, he died, but he rose from
- 27:19the dead. So he is living.
- 27:21The Spirit that he had, the Spirit of God that was within
- 27:25him brought him to life and he lives and he is returning.
- 27:31So the big plan to wipe out the Son who's going to inherit
- 27:36everything didn't work. And that's why Jesus had to kind
- 27:39of keep it hush about what he was doing.
- 27:41He knew what he was doing. He was willingly giving up his
- 27:44life. The other fact was that people
- 27:47sinned, and it says in Hebrews that that atonement comes
- 27:54through the shedding of blood, and that's the only way.
- 27:57That's why God had the sacrifices.
- 27:59He wasn't happy about the sacrifices, but he did that just
- 28:03to so that the whole human race wouldn't be wiped out, which the
- 28:06enemy wants. So doesn't it make sense now why
- 28:10Satan seeks to steal, kill and destroy?
- 28:15He wants to steal the land. He wants to kill and destroy all
- 28:20people because people are God's inheritance.
- 28:24So this is another interesting thing about, but it came from
- 28:28another study that I had that I never even like you.
- 28:31Sometimes you speed read through things and you don't read it
- 28:34slow enough. And this is something that I
- 28:36never even paid attention to, but people are God's claimed
- 28:42inheritance. Think about that.
- 28:44He gives people land as inheritance and that's all over
- 28:48the Bible, what he's done with that.
- 28:50But God's own inheritance are the people that he chooses.
- 28:55So think about that for a minute, because it, it's, so it,
- 28:59it's so in fact, I might just read that now about the
- 29:02inheritance. So this is searching through the
- 29:05Bible. You can do this on your own too,
- 29:07just to get an electronic version of the study of a Bible
- 29:10and then just search inheritance.
- 29:12And then you'll have to go through lots of things.
- 29:15But to get to God's inheritance. So it starts in Deuteronomy 4,
- 29:19verse 20. I'm not going to maybe read the
- 29:21references. I'm just going to read the
- 29:23verses. And then you can look it up for
- 29:25yourself to see. But so here's what it says.
- 29:28But As for you, the Lord took you and brought you out of the
- 29:31iron smelting furnace out of Egypt to be the people of his
- 29:36inheritance, as you are now the people of his inheritance.
- 29:42So this is talking about Israel. And then Deuteronomy also said,
- 29:46I prayed to the Lord and said, sovereign Lord, do not destroy
- 29:50your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by
- 29:57your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
- 30:01Another verse says, but they are your people.
- 30:05Comma your inheritance that you brought out by your great power
- 30:10and your outstretched arm. Another verse says, for the
- 30:14Lord's portion is his people, Jacob, his allotted inheritance.
- 30:20So Jacob is another word for Israel or the people of Israel
- 30:24and it's another verse says for they are your people and your
- 30:29inheritance whom you brought out of Egypt out of that iron
- 30:33smelting furnace that's in First Kings chapter 8 verse 51.
- 30:37So this is again talking about Israel, because that's who God
- 30:41brought out of Egypt out of the slavery.
- 30:44Then it says I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance and
- 30:48give them into the hands of the enemies.
- 30:49They will be looted and plundered by all their enemies.
- 30:52So people wonder, you know, why do, why does Israel always get
- 30:59attacked? Or why do they, you know, people
- 31:02come against them, nations come against them.
- 31:04You think year after year after year, you know, back in the in
- 31:08the days of the Bible, somebody was coming against them back,
- 31:12you know, and Hitler people were coming against them.
- 31:15Today we're seeing a rise in anti-Semitism.
- 31:18Well, it's all the evil one. It's all the enemy who wants to
- 31:23like God chose Israel. God chose them not because they
- 31:27were better than anyone, but just because God said, I'm going
- 31:31to pick this one. I'm going to pick this group of
- 31:33people and these are going to be my people.
- 31:35And and that's what he did. And it wouldn't, it probably
- 31:38wouldn't have mattered who he chose because we're all kind of
- 31:41similar and we all rebel against God or have at some point in our
- 31:46life. So God just happened to choose
- 31:49Israel, but they are the people who inherit the land, inherit
- 31:52Jerusalem, and that's where Jesus is going to reign from.
- 31:56So of course the enemy wants to wipe out that population because
- 32:01if he can wipe that out, does he think he gets the inheritance?
- 32:04And he probably thinks he can wipe it out, but he's going
- 32:08against God. I mean, I don't know if that's
- 32:09so foolish. If anybody thinks they have
- 32:11wisdom and then they think they're going to go against God,
- 32:14it just doesn't really make sense to me.
- 32:16But I guess I'm, I don't know. Anyway, there's another one that
- 32:21says I will forsake the remnant. Oh, I think I read that one.
- 32:26And then it says blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
- 32:30the people he chose for his inheritance.
- 32:35Then another verse says, remember the nation you
- 32:38purchased long ago, the people of your inheritance whom you
- 32:43redeemed, Mount Zion where you're dwelt.
- 32:47That's another interesting thing that God is purchasing back his
- 32:50people. And it talks about like Jesus
- 32:53redeeming us on the cross, like he's buying us back a life for a
- 32:57life. And that's something, you know,
- 32:59that goes back to the Old Testament law, and that's what
- 33:02Jesus had to lay down his life so that we could be purchased
- 33:07back to God. Everything is legal, OK?
- 33:11He gave his people over to the sword.
- 33:14He was furious with his inheritance.
- 33:17So you're not furious with land. You're furious.
- 33:20He gave his people over to the sword because they were, you
- 33:24know, doing all these things against him and basically, you
- 33:31know, showing like he they hated him, like they didn't respect
- 33:34him at all. And so they he kind of gave them
- 33:38over to what they were asking for or what they wanted.
- 33:40And, and of course they were evil people.
- 33:42And then they turned on them and attacked them because he was
- 33:47furious. He's like, OK, he always gives,
- 33:49not always, but he does sometimes when you keep on going
- 33:52after something, he'll say, OK, you can have it.
- 33:55Not that it's good for you, but he lets everybody have free
- 33:57will. And then you, I realize that
- 34:00it's really bad. And then you go back to him.
- 34:04If you're smart, if you're, if you're wise, I guess, let's see.
- 34:10It says rise up, O God, judge the earth for all the nations
- 34:15are your inheritance. So that seems like all people
- 34:21are God's inheritance. Then it says they crush your
- 34:25people, Lord, they oppress your inheritance.
- 34:29And then another verse says, for the Lord will not reject his
- 34:32people, He will never forsake his inheritance.
- 34:38Another verse says that I may enjoy the prosperity of your
- 34:42chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation, talking
- 34:47about God's nation and join your inheritance in giving praise.
- 34:52Another verse says the Lord Almighty will bless them,
- 34:54saying, blessed be Egypt my people.
- 34:58Now there's going to be people in Egypt that are his Assyria my
- 35:01handiwork and Israel my inheritance.
- 35:06So here the people of Israel are called his inheritance.
- 35:11I was angry with another verse says that's Isaiah 19 verse 25
- 35:16If you want to find that Isaiah 47 I was angry with my people
- 35:21and desecrated my inheritance. I gave them into your hand, and
- 35:25you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged.
- 35:28You laid a very heavy yoke again, desecrated my
- 35:33inheritance, that those the people of Israel, Jeremiah 2 I
- 35:38brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich
- 35:41produce, but you came and defiled my land and made my
- 35:45inheritance detestable. So the people, they became
- 35:50detestable. That's Jeremiah 10.
- 35:55He who is the portion of Jacob is not like these, for he is the
- 35:58maker of all things, including Israel.
- 36:02The people of his inheritance, the Lord Almighty is his name.
- 36:09Jeremiah 12 I will forsake my house, abandoned my inheritance
- 36:13I will give the one I love. So see, God still loves Israel
- 36:18into the hands of her enemies, Jerusalem.
- 36:21I'm well, Jerusalem or Israel's referred to as her, but
- 36:24Jerusalem is often referred to as her.
- 36:28My inheritance has become to me like a lion in the forest.
- 36:32She roars at me, therefore I hate her.
- 36:36Has not my inheritance become to me like a speckled bird of prey?
- 36:40That other birds of prey surround an attack?
- 36:43Go and gather the wild beasts, bring them to devour.
- 36:46So this is showing that Israel is not perfect, but Israel is
- 36:52still God's inheritance. God gets aggravated with Israel
- 36:58when they turn their backs on Him, but he he still loves them.
- 37:03Like he said, I will abandoned my inheritance, I will give the
- 37:06one I love into the hands of her enemies.
- 37:08So he's giving. There are times and that's the
- 37:12scary thing. That's kind of the fear of the
- 37:13Lord when you don't want God to turn you over to the enemy
- 37:16because of the decisions that you make.
- 37:19And there's, there's several different accounts of that
- 37:22within the Bible. Jeremiah 16.
- 37:25I will repay them double for their wickedness and their sin,
- 37:27because they defiled my land with the lifeless forms of their
- 37:31vile images and have filled my inheritance with their
- 37:35detestable idols. So filling the people with these
- 37:39detestable idols, the Pagan nations around Israel have
- 37:44corrupted God's chosen people. Jeremiah 50 Because you rejoice
- 37:49and are glad, you who pillage my inheritance, because you frolic
- 37:53like a heifer, threshing grain, and nay, like stallions.
- 37:57There's a lot of like immorality that his inheritance gets
- 38:03pillaged by. That's another reason why God
- 38:06said he didn't want people to marry outside of the tribes.
- 38:12They were supposed to marry within their own tribe.
- 38:14And there were, you weren't supposed to marry any foreign
- 38:17people. And that was because of
- 38:19idolatry, because the people who were not of Israel were
- 38:23worshipping lots of different deities, false gods.
- 38:27And that's what God and, and then when you get married to
- 38:31somebody, your souls are not your souls, but your spirits
- 38:35unite and you become one. And often the, for some reason,
- 38:43it doesn't turn godly. The union doesn't go godly.
- 38:46It goes away from God most often.
- 38:49And that's what happened with Solomon, with his wives.
- 38:52He, he was, so, you know, he started out great with God, but
- 38:56then he started taking on these wives that were, had worshipping
- 39:00other gods and was even building temples for them.
- 39:02And, and he really like, I think later at maybe on his deathbed,
- 39:07he came back to God, but he was far from God.
- 39:11God was not obedient to God. Let's see, I will, let's see.
- 39:18He who is the portion of Jacob does not like these, for he is
- 39:21the maker of all things, including the people of his
- 39:25inheritance. The Lord Almighty is his name.
- 39:28Joel Three. I will gather all nations and
- 39:30bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.
- 39:33There I will put them on trial for what they did to my
- 39:36inheritance, my comma, my people Israel, because they scattered
- 39:41my people among the nations and divided up my land.
- 39:46So this whole thing about the division of land that sometimes
- 39:49gets brought up about Israel, that's not a good thing because
- 39:52that's going to in, you know, bring out some wrath of God on
- 39:58that. But again, it's my inheritance,
- 40:02my people, Israel. But that's, that's God's.
- 40:06Those are God's inheritance, the people that God chose.
- 40:10Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your
- 40:14inheritance. So people are the inheritance
- 40:16again, who is God? Who is a God like you who
- 40:20pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of
- 40:24His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever,
- 40:28but delight to show mercy. Yes, thank God for His mercy
- 40:33because often people do get destroyed, but there is always a
- 40:38remnant. He doesn't completely wipe out
- 40:40His people because He made this promise way back to Abraham and
- 40:45then to Isaac and then to Jake Jacob, and so that he would make
- 40:51them prosperous and they would have the land.
- 40:54And that goes way back to the beginning of the Bible anyway,
- 41:00Ephesians one, it says, I pray that the eyes of your heart may
- 41:04be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he
- 41:07has called you the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy
- 41:12people. So that I think concludes all of
- 41:17the times where the Bible talks about the inheritance that God
- 41:24has is people. He gives people land, but his
- 41:27inheritance is people. And that shows like how much
- 41:31value God has in the people that he's chosen, that he's called,
- 41:38the people that are grafted in to Israel, because we have to
- 41:43remember that that it started out with Israel because of
- 41:45Israel's sins, it kind of got opened up to the Gentiles, to
- 41:49all nations and all people. And those can be those branches,
- 41:55you know, in some symbolic sense can be grafted in to the
- 41:59original vine and which was, you know, with Jesus and the he was
- 42:05from the Brant. I mean, it's Israel.
- 42:09And so we are grafted believers are grafted in is ultimately
- 42:14what I'm trying to say. So then you know that when you
- 42:19talk about wrath, you talk about the people surrounding Israel.
- 42:27I actually came across this because what was it?
- 42:32The verse that there was a verse that I guess why did the nations
- 42:45conspire and the people's plot in vain, and the kings of the
- 42:49earth rise up, and the rulers band together against the Lord
- 42:52and against his anointed. So in Joel chapter 2 it talks
- 42:59about blow the trumpet in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy hill.
- 43:03Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord
- 43:07is coming. It is close in hand.
- 43:09A day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,
- 43:14like dawn spreading across the mountains.
- 43:16A large and mighty army comes. Now listen to this such as never
- 43:22was in ancient times, nor ever will be in ages to come.
- 43:30So this is this is really significant in at the day of the
- 43:34Lord there is going to be a large and mighty army, bigger
- 43:44than anything that has ever been in ancient times, nor ever will
- 43:51be in ages. Plural to come.
- 43:57It says. Before them fire devours, behind
- 44:00them flame blazes. Before them the land is like the
- 44:03Garden of Eden, behind them a desert waste.
- 44:07Nothing escapes them. They have the appearance of
- 44:11horses. They gallop along like Calvary
- 44:14with noise like that of Chariots.
- 44:18They leap over mountain tops like a crackling fire, consuming
- 44:24consuming stubble like a mighty army drawn up for battle.
- 44:31At the sight of them, nations are in anguish.
- 44:35Every face turns pale. They charge like warriors.
- 44:43They scale walls like soldiers. They all March in line, not
- 44:50swerving from their course. They do not jostle each other.
- 44:55Each marches straight ahead. They plunge through defenses
- 45:00without breaking ranks. They rush upon the city.
- 45:05They run along the wall. They climb into the houses like
- 45:11thieves. They enter through the windows
- 45:14before them. The earth shakes, the heavens
- 45:19tremble, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no
- 45:24longer shine. The Lord thunders at the head of
- 45:30His army. His forces are beyond number,
- 45:34and mighty is the army that obeys his command.
- 45:38The day of the Lord is great. It is dreadful.
- 45:43Who can endure it? So this gives you a lot of
- 45:47mixed. I mean, this is like it says
- 45:48before them, the earth shakes, the heavens tremble, the sun and
- 45:51moon and dark and are darkened and the stars no longer shine.
- 45:56That is basically check out Revelation chapter 6 and read
- 46:02about the 6th seal. That's about that's, you know,
- 46:05ties into those details. And then Jesus describes that
- 46:09also. And it's it, this one verse that
- 46:13really stood out, Matthew chapter 2424, verse 21.
- 46:19For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the
- 46:24beginning of the world until now, and never to be equaled
- 46:27again. Then it says, if those days had
- 46:30not been cut short, no one would survive.
- 46:33But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.
- 46:37So it talks about all of this. This stuff is going to happen.
- 46:42But then that's then there's like, then they see the Son of
- 46:47Man coming on the clouds. So there's going to be something
- 46:52that was described in Joel 2 and also in Matthew 24, something
- 46:57that happens. And then it gives all of this
- 46:59description about what happens. And then it says in Matthew 24,
- 47:03verse 29, immediately after the distress of those days, the sun
- 47:08will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars
- 47:10will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 47:14Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven.
- 47:18And then all the people leave the earth will mourn when they
- 47:20see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and
- 47:24great glory. And he will send his angels with
- 47:27a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the
- 47:31four winds from one end of the heavens to the other.
- 47:34So there's going to be like a lot of people are like not, you
- 47:40know, questioning the timing. I think scripture is really
- 47:42clear when you get into it that there is going to be something,
- 47:45that something absolutely terrible that happens that has
- 47:50never happened all the way back in ancient times.
- 47:53So think back World War One, World War 2.
- 47:55No, it's going to be more than that.
- 47:58And it's never going to be the same as it, you know, it'll
- 48:01never happen again either. But there's going to be a
- 48:05significant devastation. But the Lord is coming
- 48:14immediately after the distress of those days, and it says the
- 48:19sun will be darkened. So that's a clue.
- 48:22Everything goes dark and then this is right before he comes on
- 48:28the clouds to gather his elect. So the Lord is our is our
- 48:33shepherd. He is our shelter, he is our
- 48:35refuge. And that's, it's so important
- 48:37now to know that ahead of time so that when these things
- 48:40happen, that's what Jesus said, he goes, why do I, you know, why
- 48:44do I tell you these things? So that when they happen, you
- 48:47know, and that you don't lose hope because it was written down
- 48:52many, many, many years, thousands of years ago for our
- 48:56benefit. So that when those things
- 48:58happen, we understand what's going on.
- 49:02And we know when Jesus said he would come and not exactly the
- 49:07day or the hour, but it's like that stuff that hasn't happened
- 49:10yet. So Jesus is not coming on the
- 49:12clouds yet. So let's see what else was that?
- 49:16The way of the Lord. That's something else that you
- 49:19know, there's no other way. Jesus said that, you know, I'm
- 49:24the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father
- 49:27except through me. So I don't let's see there like
- 49:38Jesus is the only way. I don't know where I think I I
- 49:47don't know if I had that one called up, but the other thing
- 49:53that I think is really important is this verse here in Psalm 2
- 50:00that says kiss his son or you will be angry and your way will
- 50:06lead to your destruction. So I respect Jesus kiss his son,
- 50:12the study Bible says. Why direct other kings to kiss
- 50:17his son? A kiss in ancient times was a
- 50:20sign of giving honor and homage to someone with greater power or
- 50:25authority. Such honor was especially due
- 50:28God's chosen king. So that makes sense.
- 50:33And if Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one
- 50:37comes to the Father except through him, it makes sense that
- 50:41your way will lead to your destruction.
- 50:45Jesus also said this like in Matthew Chapter 7 verses 13 and
- 50:5014. He was telling his disciples,
- 50:52enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad
- 50:58is the road that leads to destruction and many enter
- 51:03through it, but small is the gate and narrow the road that
- 51:10leads to life, and only a few find it.
- 51:15That's something I don't know that a whole lot of churches are
- 51:17talking about. Like there is a way and there's
- 51:23there's a wide way. Like why is it?
- 51:25Why does it say that only a few find it?
- 51:29I mean, that's really sobering to think about it.
- 51:33And and it's sobering to think like you really have to make God
- 51:36your priority. You really need to know what
- 51:38that means and why are why is there like a big wide gate and a
- 51:45big wide Rd. that leads to destruction?
- 51:49Because people aren't taking their faith seriously.
- 51:51They're not in the word and they're not, you know, they're
- 51:53relying on other people to interpret the word for them.
- 51:57The most important thing that any of us can do is get into the
- 52:00word and the Holy Spirit will give revelation.
- 52:03And thankfully we have electronic Bibles because you
- 52:06can just search phrases or words and then you can find all this
- 52:10other information that clarifies like Scripture interprets
- 52:14scripture. So you when you search something
- 52:17that sounds confusing, you often and find the answer within other
- 52:20verses of scripture. But it's really important
- 52:23because you want to be prepared and you don't want to be the one
- 52:28on the wide path that goes to destruction.
- 52:30And that's you know what it says like, you know, give honor to
- 52:33his Son, give honor to Jesus. Think about all the religions
- 52:36who don't who deny that Jesus is the son of God.
- 52:41And if if they're not respecting Him, then their way is going to
- 52:47lead them on the wide path to destruction.
- 52:52That's just the truth. And people may not like to hear
- 52:55it, but that's what the truth is.
- 52:58And isn't it better to find out the truth now than to find out
- 53:02when Jesus returns and there's not time to change anything, to
- 53:08look into it more? Do this today.
- 53:11Seriously. So it was John in the in the
- 53:17book of John chapter 14 verse 6 where Jesus Jesus answered I am
- 53:21the way and the truth and the life.
- 53:23No one comes to the Father except through me.
- 53:27And then Peter warns people in second Peter 2 verse two, he
- 53:32says many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring
- 53:35the way of truth into disrepute another way.
- 53:40It says in a a different version, it says many will
- 53:44follow their sensuality and because of them the way of truth
- 53:50will be maligned. So they you know, they don't it
- 53:58maligned with that word. When you look it up, it's like
- 54:01blasphemo. Blasphemio is what it is in in
- 54:06Greek and so it's kind of like blasphemy.
- 54:09It's blasphemous, it's not the truth and and so don't let the
- 54:14worldly ways and it says many will follow their sensuality,
- 54:20their lustfulness, and because of them the way of truth will be
- 54:24aligned. This is about false prophets,
- 54:26false teachers who you know, follow that wide path and then
- 54:32they're leading all these other people.
- 54:33That's what happens if you if you're deceived because you
- 54:37don't get into the word yourself and read and seek God because
- 54:40God says if we seek Him, he will be found.
- 54:43Be careful when you're only getting your information from a
- 54:47church. Make sure you're getting it from
- 54:49the Bible or you're checking everything that they say.
- 54:52And there are uncomfortable truths in the Bible, but it's
- 54:55better to know the truth than to be separated from God for
- 55:00eternity. At least that's the way I look
- 55:03at it. So I think I've I think I've
- 55:06covered all of the different books and chapters.
- 55:10And again, this got to be a long podcast, but hopefully there was
- 55:14something good that you took away from it.
- 55:16And if there was, share this with somebody else who would
- 55:19appreciate that. And if you're not subscribed,
- 55:22subscribe if you want to stay in the word and come back next time
- 55:26for Psalm 3. That one's also short, but I
- 55:30don't know how long the podcast will be, so thanks for sticking
- 55:34around.
