- 0:02Speaker 1: And it is Justin Robleski up the Dodgers. He is
- 0:05Speaker 1: a World Series champions joining us right now. Hey, Justin,
- 0:08Speaker 1: great to have you on. Thank you so much for
- 0:10Speaker 1: joining us. How are you today, and how is your
- 0:12Speaker 1: off season heading into camp here?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:15Speaker 3: I'm good, I'm good. I'm glad to be on here
- 0:17Speaker 3: with you guys. Off season has been great. It's starting
- 0:21Speaker 3: to ramp up, so short, short off season, but that's
- 0:24Speaker 3: kind of how you want it, right, So it's been
- 0:25Speaker 3: it's been good.
- 0:26Speaker 1: How do you handle that the short offseason? Was there
- 0:29Speaker 1: anything done differently for you to make sure that you
- 0:32Speaker 1: felt okay heading into camp here? And it seems like
- 0:35Speaker 1: one of the themes for the Dodgers in general will
- 0:37Speaker 1: be let's be careful with everyone. It's a marathon, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: that plan worked for them in twenty twenty five.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, I think, you know, answering your first question,
- 0:49Speaker 3: I think I had I had some good experience with
- 0:53Speaker 3: it last year. I know, you know, I wasn't on
- 0:56Speaker 3: the postseason rosters and everything last year, but I was still,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you know, let's stay camp, staying ready for the season,
- 1:01Speaker 3: So I kind of had a little bit of taste
- 1:04Speaker 3: of how to do that and how to kind of
- 1:06Speaker 3: work through a little bit shorter of a time to
- 1:07Speaker 3: get ready, especially with us going to Japan last year,
- 1:10Speaker 3: So this year is a little longer than that, a
- 1:12Speaker 3: little more time than that. So I think kind of
- 1:15Speaker 3: figuring that out last year helped and then just kind
- 1:18Speaker 3: of more of the same this year.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Does it help or hurt you? Justin that you're there early?
- 1:23Speaker 5: You kind of mentioned it that you had to be
- 1:24Speaker 5: there early last year for the Japan series. But with
- 1:27Speaker 5: the WBC, you're there early. I'm guessing you're camp. Did
- 1:31Speaker 5: you guys report yet?
- 1:31Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:33Speaker 6: Have you guys reported report tomorrow?
- 1:35Speaker 3: Is tomorrow is the official physicals and all that fun stuff.
- 1:38Speaker 6: So but a lot of guys are already out here.
- 1:40Speaker 4: That's what I thought.
- 1:41Speaker 5: So does that help you or hurt you? Because it
- 1:43Speaker 5: does condense the offseason, but it also makes you throw more,
- 1:46Speaker 5: and for someone like you, it also in spring training
- 1:50Speaker 5: because some of your guys aren't going to be there.
- 1:51Speaker 5: The Dodgers we know, don't push everybody. Gives you a
- 1:54Speaker 5: chance to maybe get a few more innings and show
- 1:57Speaker 5: them more of how valuable you can be.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's definitely. I mean, I think, you know,
- 2:03Speaker 3: to each guy it's different. I I personally am not
- 2:06Speaker 3: a guy that takes a ton of time off. Just
- 2:09Speaker 3: I've I've tried it really one offseason in my professional career,
- 2:12Speaker 3: and I didn't really like the way I felt coming
- 2:14Speaker 3: out of it. So for it, for me, it's like,
- 2:17Speaker 3: you know, this year, for example, I took probably a
- 2:19Speaker 3: week and a half off and then I was done again.
- 2:21Speaker 6: So I don't love to take a ton of time off.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I feel like I lose feel, I feel like I
- 2:27Speaker 3: stiffen up a little bit. And I think if you
- 2:29Speaker 3: look at a lot of guys in the past that
- 2:31Speaker 3: have played the game for a long time, a lot
- 2:32Speaker 3: of them don't take a ton of time off.
- 2:33Speaker 6: So I felt like that was the best thing for me.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And yeah, like you said, I think there's a lot
- 2:38Speaker 3: of opportunity even though we're filled up. I think for
- 2:42Speaker 3: a guy like me that they can kind of provide,
- 2:45Speaker 3: you know, wear multiple different hats with this team. I
- 2:47Speaker 3: think I hope to uh to continue to prove that
- 2:50Speaker 3: I can do that, and whether it's in a starting capacity,
- 2:53Speaker 3: whether it's in a long man capacity, whether it's in leverage,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you know, low leverage whatever, I think is proving that
- 3:00Speaker 3: versatility is helpful for a team like this, And I
- 3:03Speaker 3: think also a lot of it with how we run
- 3:06Speaker 3: things speaks to the amount of talent that we have
- 3:08Speaker 3: in our organization, how good they are developing guys, because
- 3:12Speaker 3: you know, you look around and pretty much everybody you
- 3:14Speaker 3: see is really really good, And a lot of guys
- 3:17Speaker 3: you know in our locker room and even in Triple A,
- 3:19Speaker 3: would would be getting chances with other teams. So it's
- 3:23Speaker 3: it's a great, great organization to be a part of, obviously,
- 3:25Speaker 3: and I think you know it pushes each and every
- 3:27Speaker 3: one of us to be better.
- 3:29Speaker 2: When I spent most of my career in the minor leagues,
- 3:32Speaker 2: people would always say I'd rather be in the big
- 3:34Speaker 2: leagues than in Triple A with a World Series team.
- 3:38Speaker 2: We get to ask you this, you unfortunately had to
- 3:42Speaker 2: spend time in Triple A. You just mentioned it, how
- 3:45Speaker 2: good the team is, how you know everything. Would you
- 3:48Speaker 2: rather be on the Dodgers and know there's a chance
- 3:52Speaker 2: you're going to Triple A like you had last year,
- 3:54Speaker 2: but the World Series or Justin Robleski third day, third starter,
- 4:00Speaker 2: a rotation for any of the other teams that doesn't
- 4:03Speaker 2: quite have the best chance.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's it's a funny question. I've definitely
- 4:09Speaker 3: been I've definitely thought about it before. I've been asked before.
- 4:12Speaker 3: And you know, I think you love to pitch in
- 4:16Speaker 3: the big leagues. I think pitching the big leagues is
- 4:18Speaker 3: ultimately the you know, everyone's goal and what you want
- 4:21Speaker 3: to do. And obviously you get paid a little better too,
- 4:23Speaker 3: so that's not bad. But you know, I think being
- 4:27Speaker 3: with this team, I think, you know, we're gonna look
- 4:31Speaker 3: back ten fifteen years from now and be like, man,
- 4:34Speaker 3: that was that was a special, special thing.
- 4:36Speaker 6: To be a part of.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And not everybody gets the chance to to pitch in
- 4:39Speaker 3: postseason games and be a part of these you know,
- 4:42Speaker 3: postseason runs. And you know, I've been a part of
- 4:44Speaker 3: two teams that have one World Series now, so it's
- 4:48Speaker 3: it's hard to say. I definitely wouldn't trade the rings
- 4:51Speaker 3: for the world. You know, I love to win. I
- 4:54Speaker 3: love to you know, get that feeling and and kind
- 4:57Speaker 3: of pitching games that matter. And it's also tough because
- 5:01Speaker 3: at the same end, like, yeah, I'd love to you know,
- 5:04Speaker 3: be starting games and kind of get the chance to
- 5:06Speaker 3: do that, and but I think, you know, I love
- 5:09Speaker 3: to win, So I think.
- 5:11Speaker 6: Wherever I go, I want to win.
- 5:13Speaker 3: And I know that's not always the case a lot
- 5:15Speaker 3: of places, but just wherever I'm gonna get opportunity, whether
- 5:19Speaker 3: it's here, whether it's somewhere else, whether it's anywhere, I think,
- 5:22Speaker 3: you know, you want to win, and I think it's
- 5:24Speaker 3: hard to. It's hard to, you know, trade stuff that's
- 5:27Speaker 3: that you can't really put a price on. So I
- 5:29Speaker 3: think final answer, I think I'd rather be with with
- 5:32Speaker 3: this team than than any other team, just because it's
- 5:34Speaker 3: it's a really really special thing to be a part of.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Justin, don't lie.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Someday you'll be a part of Team Poland I'll be
- 5:41Speaker 5: the manager and that'll be like twenty thirty in the WBC.
- 5:43Speaker 4: So that will take over.
- 5:45Speaker 5: All of this rest of this World Series crap you're
- 5:48Speaker 5: talking about exactly.
- 5:49Speaker 6: That'll be That'll be Yeah, that'll be number one for sure.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Scott and Eric say, the WBC means more than the
- 5:56Speaker 5: World Series, but we don't have time to get into that.
- 5:58Speaker 5: We'll just let you what does let you enjoy your
- 6:01Speaker 5: two rings.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Okay, but I do want to go back the World Series.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I do want to go back to the World Series
- 6:07Speaker 5: because you had you had two two really important things
- 6:09Speaker 5: that you did in this World Series. One, you pitch
- 6:12Speaker 5: in the eighteen inning game and you pitch in like
- 6:14Speaker 5: the sixth, sixth, and seventh inning, and then it went
- 6:17Speaker 5: eleven innings and you had nothing to do.
- 6:18Speaker 4: So I want to know what you were doing.
- 6:20Speaker 5: And then two, we used to have Andre Semenez on
- 6:23Speaker 5: here all the time. Why did you throw at him?
- 6:25Speaker 5: And why did you start a.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Fight with him? Because he's like the nicest guy in the.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Whole world, all right, So question number one, question number one.
- 6:34Speaker 3: During that game, it was kind of like it was
- 6:36Speaker 3: pretty funny because like after you come out of the game, honestly,
- 6:39Speaker 3: for me, it's like you like during the game, you're fine,
- 6:42Speaker 3: like cause that's kind of your realm, Like you're kind
- 6:44Speaker 3: of in control of what's going on. You're in control
- 6:46Speaker 3: of your you know, prep and getting ready and all
- 6:49Speaker 3: this and that, and you know, and then you go
- 6:51Speaker 3: on the game and you're still in control their because
- 6:54Speaker 3: like that's what you do, that's your domain, you know.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I think for me, I like to think of it
- 6:57Speaker 3: as like you know, I am there to perform, I'm
- 7:01Speaker 3: there to pitch my best, I'm there to you know,
- 7:03Speaker 3: do all that, and so just kind of you're in
- 7:06Speaker 3: that mindset, that mode that you get into when you play,
- 7:08Speaker 3: and then when you come out, it's like, you know,
- 7:10Speaker 3: there's a lot more nerves there when you come out
- 7:12Speaker 3: than when you're in the game. So I was just
- 7:15Speaker 3: kind of hanging with the boys, really the crew that
- 7:18Speaker 3: was there that that wasn't on the roster, and we
- 7:20Speaker 3: just had a great group and just kind of hanging
- 7:23Speaker 3: out watching the game, you know, doing anything we could
- 7:25Speaker 3: to try and get some runs, you know, outfit changes,
- 7:27Speaker 3: shoe changes, all this and that, and it finally ended
- 7:30Speaker 3: up working.
- 7:31Speaker 6: We would have won the game probably about three or
- 7:32Speaker 6: four times.
- 7:33Speaker 3: If the marine layer wasn't so heavy that night, Like
- 7:35Speaker 3: I think Tayo had a ball that was scorched. It's
- 7:37Speaker 3: a home run most days. Freddie even had one earlier
- 7:40Speaker 3: in the game. They probably would have been a home
- 7:41Speaker 3: run most days. But it was real heavy and kind
- 7:43Speaker 3: of cold that night, so like not cold, but like
- 7:47Speaker 3: la chili whatever, so the ball wasn't flying as much.
- 7:50Speaker 6: And yeah, but it was. It was a really crazy experience.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And then what obviously Will ended up doing, and that
- 7:55Speaker 3: game was crazy and just kind of watched it all
- 7:57Speaker 3: in full.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Was wild. That's my answer Number one. Number two.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Obviously, once you get to someone of two strikes, that
- 8:06Speaker 3: is the best time to throw at them. No, but
- 8:10Speaker 3: like I'm not trying to I'm not trying to throw
- 8:12Speaker 3: at anybody. My second back to back of my career,
- 8:16Speaker 3: you know, obviously came up as a starter. I'm sure
- 8:18Speaker 3: that had something to do with it. I'm sure you
- 8:20Speaker 3: know World Series Juice had something to do with it.
- 8:22Speaker 3: And yeah, unfortunately, just had three go. My miss is
- 8:26Speaker 3: up an armside and usually people get out of the way,
- 8:29Speaker 3: and he tried and he didn't, and it hit him
- 8:33Speaker 3: and I wasn't trying to hit him, but you know,
- 8:35Speaker 3: he was upset, and obviously it's a heat of the
- 8:37Speaker 3: moment thing, like you're both out there competing, and he
- 8:40Speaker 3: said something to me, so I said something back, and yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 3: it's just it's just the game we love, right, Like,
- 8:44Speaker 3: it's just you know, you're out there compete at the
- 8:46Speaker 3: highest level and the biggest moments and sometimes, you know,
- 8:50Speaker 3: I'm sure I'm sure he'd probably say something similar. You
- 8:52Speaker 3: just kind of blackout and stuff happens, and that's the game,
- 8:54Speaker 3: and that's why we love it. But yeah, obviously there's
- 8:57Speaker 3: no intent there. And it's kind of crazy that it
- 9:00Speaker 3: all happened on that stage because I think that's the
- 9:02Speaker 3: first time the benches have ever cleared with me on
- 9:04Speaker 3: the mound or anything like that has ever happened. But
- 9:07Speaker 3: that's just kind of who I am when I'm out there.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I think I have to be a more of like
- 9:12Speaker 3: a I don't know, it's hard to explain, but some
- 9:14Speaker 3: guys have to be real calm. I'm kind of the
- 9:16Speaker 3: opposite of that, and that's just something you learn as
- 9:19Speaker 3: you play.
- 9:21Speaker 2: You did say that was your first back to back, correct.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Second I had one against Cincinnati, I believe, But I
- 9:28Speaker 3: think the second back, the second part of that back
- 9:30Speaker 3: to back was like a third or something.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Okay, so take us to the end of game seven,
- 9:34Speaker 2: when Yamamoto came out and was like, Robleski, here's a
- 9:39Speaker 2: back to back. I'll take care of this.
- 9:42Speaker 6: It was the coolest shit I've ever seen.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I'm excuse my language, but it was the coolest thing
- 9:47Speaker 3: I've ever seen.
- 9:48Speaker 6: I remember because that game.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Honest obviously, I was a little more like you know,
- 9:53Speaker 3: if game whatever.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Game three, the one that went really long. Like I
- 9:56Speaker 6: was nervous.
- 9:56Speaker 3: When I came out of the game Game seven, it
- 9:58Speaker 3: was like, oh my gosh, Like I still knew, like
- 10:02Speaker 3: I still had a good feeling.
- 10:03Speaker 6: We were gonna win the game.
- 10:04Speaker 3: But you know, like the way that game happened was
- 10:07Speaker 3: just you know, I get chills just talking about it.
- 10:09Speaker 6: Like so many cool things happened.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And you know, I'm in the I'm in the weight room,
- 10:13Speaker 3: and in Toronto, the weight rooms kind of right next
- 10:15Speaker 3: to the dugout right there and the new renovations or whatever,
- 10:18Speaker 3: and so I'm in like I was pacing in the
- 10:21Speaker 3: in the weight room and I see like the lights
- 10:24Speaker 3: turn off, and I look up and I was like,
- 10:26Speaker 3: is that Yama like running in it? And it's sure
- 10:28Speaker 3: as sure as I was, And you know, he came
- 10:31Speaker 3: in and just just crazy man.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Just he's a dog.
- 10:36Speaker 3: He's you know, worth way more than what he's paid,
- 10:41Speaker 3: even if he's being paid all these millions of dollars.
- 10:45Speaker 6: You know, he's he's a he's a dog.
- 10:46Speaker 3: He's uh, he's not like the traditional like what you
- 10:50Speaker 3: think of as like an ace type picture, like he's
- 10:55Speaker 3: not he's just he's just a special, special talent man,
- 10:58Speaker 3: his ability to manipulate the and his ability to you know,
- 11:01Speaker 3: make pitches when it matters, And you know, I think
- 11:05Speaker 3: that was just a testament to kind of who he
- 11:07Speaker 3: is as a person and who he is as a player.
- 11:09Speaker 6: He's he's the man.
- 11:10Speaker 3: And I was really really super honestly, not only like
- 11:14Speaker 3: was it the coolest thing I've ever seen? I was
- 11:16Speaker 3: just super happy for him because you know, he deserves
- 11:19Speaker 3: you know, every moment like that, because he's just He's
- 11:21Speaker 3: just the man, and it's been fun to see him
- 11:23Speaker 3: work the past couple of years.
- 11:25Speaker 2: You had a Hall of Famer in your bullpen in
- 11:27Speaker 2: the World Series. Did you ever look over at Kershaw
- 11:31Speaker 2: and go like, how is this for this guy? Like,
- 11:36Speaker 2: I get it. I've been starting in Triple A. This
- 11:38Speaker 2: guy's been starting in the show for decades, Like how
- 11:41Speaker 2: is he in the bullpen? And did you guys have
- 11:43Speaker 2: to kind of like, hey, relax, Clayton, Like this is
- 11:46Speaker 2: a long game.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah, It's It's funny because you know, she In was
- 11:50Speaker 3: the same way. You know, she like being the bullpen.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I remember the first couple of games when he was
- 11:56Speaker 3: down there. It was just like for a lot of
- 11:59Speaker 3: those guys that they've been starting forever, it's like a
- 12:01Speaker 3: little bit of like they don't know what to do
- 12:03Speaker 3: with themselves, because when you're starting, you have such a
- 12:05Speaker 3: like regiment and like I'm doing this and I'm doing this,
- 12:07Speaker 3: and I'm doing this and I'm doing this, and then
- 12:09Speaker 3: the game started and then you're just pitching. But in
- 12:11Speaker 3: the pen, it's just like a big like there's just
- 12:13Speaker 3: a lot more anxiety, a lot more you know, and
- 12:16Speaker 3: if you haven't experienced it or learned how to like
- 12:19Speaker 3: work through it or use it to your advantage, it's tough.
- 12:21Speaker 6: And I think, you know.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Curseh, even this being his last year, it was just like,
- 12:27Speaker 3: you know, he was still trying to learn from the
- 12:29Speaker 3: guys that were down there on how to do it,
- 12:31Speaker 3: and you know, even asking younger guys like you know,
- 12:34Speaker 3: Jack and I and whatever.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Like.
- 12:37Speaker 3: That's one thing I noticed about Cursh is like he
- 12:39Speaker 3: was always willing to learn. And that's kind of again
- 12:43Speaker 3: another thing that makes him great is I think he
- 12:46Speaker 3: was always willing to change things and do things to
- 12:50Speaker 3: make himself better, no matter you know who it was from.
- 12:53Speaker 3: And that was something I thought was really cool about him,
- 12:56Speaker 3: is he was just asking around everybody like what do
- 12:58Speaker 3: you guys do?
- 12:59Speaker 6: What do you guys do? Just kind of figuring it out.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And obviously he did a good job, and you know,
- 13:04Speaker 3: came in and got that huge out and the long
- 13:07Speaker 3: game and then it was about to come in there
- 13:09Speaker 3: in that game seven. So but yeah, it's it's funny.
- 13:13Speaker 3: It's a tough transition to make. I think it's easier
- 13:16Speaker 3: for some guys than others for whatever reason. And but yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 3: it's it's a crazy, crazy thing. And it was really
- 13:22Speaker 3: crazy to kind of, yeah, look over there and sit
- 13:24Speaker 3: in the bullpen with Kersh at the end of his career,
- 13:26Speaker 3: and it's just like, what is going on? Like because
- 13:29Speaker 3: you know, you talked to me ten years ago and say, hey,
- 13:32Speaker 3: you're gonna be in a World Series and you'll be
- 13:34Speaker 3: sitting in the bullpen with Kursh and even just being
- 13:36Speaker 3: a part of you know, i'd say, one of the
- 13:39Speaker 3: best baseball teams of all time in these past two
- 13:42Speaker 3: years and it's it's pretty crazy.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Justin, did anybody on your team, and I know he's
- 13:48Speaker 5: Clayton Kershaw ever say cursed you keep your shirt on,
- 13:51Speaker 5: buddy for for for.
- 13:52Speaker 4: The rest of us.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Dads like me, like right, Like I would never just
- 13:56Speaker 5: be like I'm gonna walk around constantly with my shirt
- 13:59Speaker 5: off at my age, I'm much older than Cursh's. But
- 14:02Speaker 5: did nobody ever say like, hey, Curse, maybe today just
- 14:05Speaker 5: keep your shirt on.
- 14:07Speaker 3: I mean, he can, you can kind of do what
- 14:10Speaker 3: you want, you know what I mean. The guy's got
- 14:12Speaker 3: a lot of hardware. He's done a lot in this game,
- 14:17Speaker 3: and he's showing it off.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Man. I mean, whatever whatever it is, it works, It
- 14:22Speaker 6: worked for a.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Long time, so you know what I mean, Maybe he's
- 14:26Speaker 3: just setting an example saying like this is what greatness
- 14:29Speaker 3: looks like, you know what I mean.
- 14:30Speaker 6: But no, it's it's uh, you know, Cursh was big.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Curseh was big on you know, shirtless Sundays and all
- 14:36Speaker 3: that fun stuff. And so he's a he's a great
- 14:40Speaker 3: guy to have in the clubhouse, great guy to be around.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Just just super super down to earth, super humble and
- 14:48Speaker 3: and just just a great, great teammate and and guy
- 14:51Speaker 3: that you know, I was so blessed and lucky to
- 14:53Speaker 3: play with and learn from obviously over these past two
- 14:55Speaker 3: years because and being someone that I looked up to
- 14:57Speaker 3: growing up was was huge. So but yeah, he's the man. No,
- 15:01Speaker 3: no one ever told him to keep his shirt on.
- 15:03Speaker 6: I don't think.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I don't think anyone in that clubhouse has the right
- 15:06Speaker 3: to tell him what to do at a baseball field.
- 15:09Speaker 5: That's fair, that's fair, But shirtless Sundays. I don't even
- 15:12Speaker 5: want to know what that meant. So we're just gonna skip.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Over that real quick. But here's what about him.
- 15:16Speaker 5: I'm not That's why I skipped it. But here's the thing.
- 15:19Speaker 5: Do you think that when in twenty twenty nine or
- 15:22Speaker 5: twenty thirty, when you're on Team Poland, that Clayton Kershaw
- 15:25Speaker 5: will still be pitching for Team USA because he retired.
- 15:29Speaker 5: But here he is pitching in the WBC for Team USA.
- 15:35Speaker 6: So here's the thing. His he just had another new baby,
- 15:39Speaker 6: so at that time.
- 15:42Speaker 3: He might have like gotten out of baseball for a
- 15:44Speaker 3: little bit, and then he'll be back ramping up at
- 15:47Speaker 3: that time, if I had to guess so. But no,
- 15:49Speaker 3: he's got a lot of kids to work to worry
- 15:51Speaker 3: about now, so hopefully hopefully that'll keep him out of
- 15:54Speaker 3: our way, you know what I mean, And hopefully we
- 15:55Speaker 3: want to see him perfect good.
- 15:58Speaker 2: That's smart, justin two questions. It's about jewelry. Have you
- 16:03Speaker 2: worn last year's ring and have you seen what the
- 16:07Speaker 2: new ring for this year is going to look like?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Of course I've worn last year's ring, but not in public,
- 16:13Speaker 3: just like you know, around the house sometimes just just.
- 16:18Speaker 2: One shirtless Sunday, shirtless Sunday, just the ring.
- 16:22Speaker 3: No, see, you're you're misunderstanding in the way shirtless Sunday works.
- 16:26Speaker 6: That's the problem. So but no, it's it's uh.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Sometimes wear it around the house sometimes just look at it,
- 16:33Speaker 3: all that fun stuff, but it's just kind of hard
- 16:36Speaker 3: because those rings are so big. It's like, I don't
- 16:38Speaker 3: want to wear that in public. And you know what
- 16:41Speaker 3: I mean, Like I like what the Thunder did with
- 16:43Speaker 3: their ring where there's that little ring inside of it.
- 16:45Speaker 3: You can kind of wear around that thing. It's kind
- 16:47Speaker 3: of a good touch. I haven't seen what ours look
- 16:50Speaker 3: like this year, but I'm sure if there anything like
- 16:53Speaker 3: last year, they're going to be incredible. And yeah, it's
- 16:56Speaker 3: crazy that I get to talk about, Yeah, last year's
- 16:59Speaker 3: was good, maybe this years will be better kind of thing,
- 17:02Speaker 3: which is pretty funny to think about. But yeah, it's
- 17:05Speaker 3: it's super cool. I'm I'm excited to see it I'm
- 17:08Speaker 3: sure they're gonna do a great job with.
- 17:09Speaker 2: It, right. No, No, I didn't have any more questions.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Okay, justin by the way, I just want everyone out
- 17:19Speaker 5: there in the Twitter world and in the in the
- 17:21Speaker 5: chat that I am not disrespecting Clayton Kershaw.
- 17:24Speaker 4: He's one of my favorite people I've ever talked to.
- 17:26Speaker 5: So by saying to keep his shirt on, it was
- 17:29Speaker 5: more of just like he's you know, he's got the
- 17:31Speaker 5: dad bought and most people expect professional athletes when they
- 17:35Speaker 5: take their shirt off to look more like, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 5: shredded guy than the average guy.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Like that's the beauty of our game. That's the big game.
- 17:45Speaker 6: That's the beauty of our game.
- 17:46Speaker 3: You can, you know, you can be jacked and be
- 17:49Speaker 3: way worse than a guy that's not jacked. It's the
- 17:52Speaker 3: greatest part. That's why it's, you know, the best game.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It's there's so many guys and can get it done
- 17:56Speaker 3: so many different ways. You can be five, four, you
- 17:58Speaker 3: can be thirteen like some of these guys are now
- 18:02Speaker 3: coming up, and you can still get it done. So
- 18:04Speaker 3: it's it's a it's a great sport and that's definitely
- 18:06Speaker 3: part of what makes it awesome.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Agreed one hundred percent. Now to my next question, which
- 18:12Speaker 5: was going to be your free agents. Are you tired
- 18:14Speaker 5: that your team is ruining baseball because they keep signing
- 18:17Speaker 5: good players and you keep collecting rings?
- 18:19Speaker 4: Like are you just? Are you so sad and mad?
- 18:22Speaker 5: And you're like, you know what, I don't want to
- 18:23Speaker 5: play for the Dodgers anymore because we keep signing really
- 18:27Speaker 5: good players and I've just got a chance to get
- 18:29Speaker 5: another ring.
- 18:31Speaker 6: I know.
- 18:31Speaker 3: That's the worst, right, It's the worst to go want
- 18:33Speaker 3: to win, you know what I mean.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Isn't that awful?
- 18:37Speaker 4: Man?
- 18:38Speaker 3: I know, I know, No, it's it's you know, it's crazy.
- 18:43Speaker 3: You know, I'm sure a lot of people are upset
- 18:44Speaker 3: with it. But it's like we're making a lot of
- 18:47Speaker 3: money too as a team, So maybe it's a maybe
- 18:50Speaker 3: it's a good formula. I don't know, but yeah, it's
- 18:53Speaker 3: it's great to get all these good players. And I'm
- 18:56Speaker 3: so blessed and fortunate to be a part of this
- 18:58Speaker 3: organization who continues to show, you know, the fans and
- 19:03Speaker 3: of the organization and everybody that.
- 19:05Speaker 6: They want to win and they want to keep winning.
- 19:06Speaker 3: And yeah, it's it's again another beautiful thing.
- 19:10Speaker 6: About this sport is you can spend a bunch of money.
- 19:12Speaker 3: And not win games, and it's you know, it's crazy.
- 19:16Speaker 3: It's unpredictable, and I think that's why people love it,
- 19:19Speaker 3: and I think that's why, you know, in my opinion,
- 19:22Speaker 3: we have one of the best leagues and best sports
- 19:24Speaker 3: in the world. And but yeah, it's it's great. I
- 19:27Speaker 3: hate that we want to win so bad. It does suck.
- 19:32Speaker 2: You kind of mentioned it glazed over a little bit.
- 19:34Speaker 2: But have they told you what your role is going
- 19:36Speaker 2: to be this year? Have they said, hey, you know what,
- 19:38Speaker 2: in April May it's this and then we'll see where
- 19:42Speaker 2: we go from there, and how do you work your
- 19:44Speaker 2: way up to that if it's uncertain?
- 19:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you know, they've They've been transparent with
- 19:50Speaker 3: me about kind of what they want to build me
- 19:52Speaker 3: up to in spring training and all this, all this
- 19:54Speaker 3: and that. But I think for me, it's just like
- 19:58Speaker 3: be ready as a starter. Be ready is you know,
- 20:00Speaker 3: someone who's gonna eat a bunch of innings and you
- 20:02Speaker 3: can always taper down from there. So that's kind of
- 20:06Speaker 3: where I'm at with it, is just stay ready for
- 20:08Speaker 3: whatever opportunity you know comes my way. And as we
- 20:12Speaker 3: know there's there's always stuff that happens throughout the season,
- 20:15Speaker 3: and you know, eventually you got to step up and
- 20:17Speaker 3: be the guy. And I think that's kind of what
- 20:20Speaker 3: my thought process has been, is just like, you know,
- 20:23Speaker 3: keep grinding and keep getting better, be ready as a starter,
- 20:26Speaker 3: and you know, if they use me out of the
- 20:28Speaker 3: bullpen and a length capacity, I'm ready. If they use
- 20:30Speaker 3: me in leverage, I'm ready if they use me. And
- 20:32Speaker 3: whenever I need to take the ball, take the ball.
- 20:35Speaker 3: So I think that's kind of been my thought process.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Okay, so we showed all your World Series highlights, and
- 20:41Speaker 5: you showed all these pictures of you with the trophy
- 20:43Speaker 5: and you're hanging out with all your teammates, But you
- 20:46Speaker 5: know who is missing from those photos?
- 20:48Speaker 2: Show Hey?
- 20:49Speaker 5: All right, do you have a picture with show Hey?
- 20:51Speaker 5: Because I was fortunate enough to get my picture with
- 20:53Speaker 5: show Hey about a month ago. So do you actually
- 20:55Speaker 5: have a picture of show Hey?
- 20:57Speaker 4: Andrew?
- 20:58Speaker 3: I don't, I don't, I I don't. I uh, I'm
- 21:02Speaker 3: too nervous.
- 21:02Speaker 6: To ask him.
- 21:03Speaker 3: It's kinda tough to just be like, yo, Show you
- 21:07Speaker 3: want to take a picture right now? Like I'm sure
- 21:09Speaker 3: you know, being the guy he is, he should say
- 21:11Speaker 3: yes right away.
- 21:12Speaker 6: But like that guy's got a lot of things to do.
- 21:16Speaker 3: You know, he's he's got to go eat six innings
- 21:17Speaker 3: and punch out thirteen people and then he's got to
- 21:20Speaker 3: hit three.
- 21:20Speaker 6: Home runs, and so he's got a lot to do.
- 21:22Speaker 3: He's got media to worry about, he's got you know,
- 21:25Speaker 3: he's got a family.
- 21:26Speaker 6: So like he's got a lot on his plate.
- 21:28Speaker 3: So I don't want to, you know, bother him with
- 21:30Speaker 3: a picture, you know when he's got he's got so
- 21:33Speaker 3: much going on. But uh no, I'm sure. I'm sure
- 21:36Speaker 3: show would be just fine if I walked up and said, hey,
- 21:38Speaker 3: let's take a picture. But at the same time, I
- 21:42Speaker 3: know there.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Even on shirtless Sundays, would he be okay with that?
- 21:47Speaker 3: It just depends on you know, that depends on a
- 21:50Speaker 3: lot of things. It depends on a lot of things.
- 21:53Speaker 3: But you never know, you never know what you're gonna get.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Do you feel like you don't do you feel like
- 21:59Speaker 2: you don't do enough when you watch all the stuff
- 22:01Speaker 2: that he does.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I feel like that with So there's certain guys and
- 22:07Speaker 3: I think, you know, if you've been in baseball long enough,
- 22:09Speaker 3: you know, like there's certain guys that are in the
- 22:11Speaker 3: weight room for four hours doing all this crazy stuff,
- 22:14Speaker 3: and then there's certain guys that don't need as much time,
- 22:17Speaker 3: and so it's like you just have to figure out
- 22:19Speaker 3: what you need to do to get ready.
- 22:22Speaker 6: It's funny.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I've been talking about this the past couple of days,
- 22:24Speaker 3: to like keep your body where you need to be.
- 22:27Speaker 3: But yeah, and watching show, you feel like, all right, well,
- 22:31Speaker 3: like my job's not that hard. You know, he's doing
- 22:34Speaker 3: all this and he's the best of both of them.
- 22:36Speaker 3: So but I also think about how much fun that
- 22:38Speaker 3: would be to like just know that you're the best
- 22:42Speaker 3: player on earth.
- 22:44Speaker 6: So it's pretty cool he does.
- 22:47Speaker 3: He works so hard at what he does, and that's
- 22:49Speaker 3: obviously part of why he's so good is he has
- 22:52Speaker 3: the the god given talent and then on top of that,
- 22:55Speaker 3: he's you know, he works really hard at his craft.
- 22:58Speaker 3: And yeah, it's it's impressive to watch. It's impressive to
- 23:01Speaker 3: to see how he like fits everything in and weaves
- 23:04Speaker 3: it and you know, while playing a game where you
- 23:07Speaker 3: play play so many games in a season, and it's impressive.
- 23:10Speaker 3: It's you know, special, it's you know, everything you'd think
- 23:13Speaker 3: of him.
- 23:15Speaker 6: He's he's better.
- 23:16Speaker 2: It's it's crazy, justin last one, Evan Phillips just resigned
- 23:21Speaker 2: with the team. What does he bring to not only
- 23:24Speaker 2: the roster, but just that like bullpen life.
- 23:29Speaker 6: Yeah, Heep's a really really good dude. Man.
- 23:31Speaker 3: He's you know, one of the guys that he's been
- 23:34Speaker 3: really really good to me since I came up. He's
- 23:37Speaker 3: a good friend, he's a good teammate. He's kinda kind
- 23:40Speaker 3: of all that. You know, obviously suck to see him
- 23:44Speaker 3: have TJ, but I've kind of been able to you know,
- 23:47Speaker 3: even I've talked to him a little bit about that
- 23:49Speaker 3: kind of stuff because I have TJ as well, and
- 23:53Speaker 3: so he's he's working back from that.
- 23:55Speaker 6: He's the man.
- 23:56Speaker 3: He's really really good player, really good you know, got
- 24:00Speaker 3: to talk to about you know, big situations and even
- 24:02Speaker 3: last year, you know, during the postseason round just talking
- 24:05Speaker 3: to him about stuff, and just during the year in general,
- 24:07Speaker 3: just kind of talking to him about, you know, how
- 24:10Speaker 3: to navigate you know, certain innings and how to navigate
- 24:13Speaker 3: lineup and you know, because it's a little different as
- 24:16Speaker 3: a reliever than it is as a starter, and just
- 24:20Speaker 3: you know, there was there was a time where he
- 24:21Speaker 3: was rehabbing last year when I had a tough one
- 24:24Speaker 3: against Washington and got sent down and kind of talked
- 24:26Speaker 3: to him for you know, thirty minutes, just like about
- 24:29Speaker 3: this and that. So great teammate, great guy to have
- 24:32Speaker 3: in the clubhouse, a great person.
- 24:34Speaker 6: So really happy to have him back.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And he's really really good too, So on top of
- 24:40Speaker 3: on top of being a great dude, he's he's a
- 24:42Speaker 3: really really good pitcher.
- 24:43Speaker 6: So I'm we're pumped to have him back.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Justin thanks for the extended time and this was great.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Hope you enjoyed it.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Racial hair. Are we going facial hair this year?
- 24:53Speaker 6: I don't think so. I think I'm going to keep
- 24:55Speaker 6: it off.
- 24:55Speaker 3: I think I'm gonna keep it off for now, be
- 24:58Speaker 3: a different guy for a little bit. It's kind of
- 24:59Speaker 3: fun to see his reaction when they see me for
- 25:01Speaker 3: the first time. But like, you're a different dude. My
- 25:03Speaker 3: hair is a little shorter, no facial hair. Kind of
- 25:05Speaker 3: fun to change it up and keep people on their
- 25:07Speaker 3: toes a little bit.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Yeah, where's the golf game today? Or jerdy, you didn't
- 25:11Speaker 5: a ready finished, did you?
- 25:12Speaker 6: No?
- 25:13Speaker 3: No, no, I just got down on the field. We're
- 25:15Speaker 3: about to go play here. Here at Wigwam. If you
- 25:18Speaker 3: know what that is out here.
- 25:19Speaker 4: You forgot. I was at the ranch for a long time.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I was at the but I was on the side
- 25:23Speaker 5: without thee in the pools and the girls and the
- 25:27Speaker 5: people that feed your grapes with fans. I was on
- 25:30Speaker 5: the white sox side, where it's like desert with.
- 25:32Speaker 6: No Yeah, the depressing side. I've been over there a
- 25:36Speaker 6: few times.
- 25:37Speaker 3: I played a for for a long while, as like
- 25:41Speaker 3: a month and a half, so we know about.
- 25:43Speaker 5: That grinder's side. Yeah, there's a there's a difference, trust me.
- 25:51Speaker 5: When you cross the cross the line in between.
- 25:55Speaker 6: It's different air.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like it's like everything just changed.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:00Speaker 4: One side on the other side water and.
- 26:05Speaker 1: There's a deeper story to all that, and maybe we
- 26:07Speaker 1: can get into it when will Edible joins us.
- 26:09Speaker 2: And like, no, so let's get justin.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Let's let justin go justin, enjoy have a nice round
- 26:14Speaker 1: out there.
- 26:15Speaker 6: Thanks again, this was awesome.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Really appreciate you. Great to getting to know you a
- 26:18Speaker 1: little bit more on here.
- 26:20Speaker 6: Yeah, of course, of course, thank you guys.
