- 0:40Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us today. Scott Clendenon will be along.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Mallory is here, Bucky is here. Aggie basketball starts Monday.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I had to be reminded of that today Monday. We'll
- 0:58Speaker 1: tell you what's going on with the rest of the
- 0:59Speaker 1: work as well. This is just beautiful, and I got
- 1:06Speaker 1: to say, not too many politicians are this transparent, but
- 1:11Speaker 1: Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry held a press conference today and
- 1:14Speaker 1: said athletic Director Scott Woodward will not be hiring the
- 1:19Speaker 1: next LSU football coach. Look, we already knew that. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: don't think there are too many big schools in America
- 1:26Speaker 1: where the athletic director hires the football coach anymore. It
- 1:29Speaker 1: just doesn't happen. Landry said it will be LSU's board
- 1:35Speaker 1: of supervisors. In other words, the governor and his buddies
- 1:39Speaker 1: are going to hire the LSU football coach. That's a
- 1:42Speaker 1: beautiful thing. And there's one guy standing and jumping up
- 1:47Speaker 1: and down in the corners saying, hire me, hire me.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Ed Arjerad would love to return to the school. I'd
- 1:56Speaker 1: love to. Are you kidding me? Hey, I'm one fun
- 2:00Speaker 1: call away. I just got to get my truck. I
- 2:03Speaker 1: could be there today. I don't think Edo is gonna
- 2:08Speaker 1: be hired by the governor and his buddies at LSU,
- 2:12Speaker 1: but hey, it is LSU. It is Louisiana. You never know.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And I haven't seen Ed with those Instagram pictures with
- 2:23Speaker 1: that college girlfriend lately. I don't know if she's moved
- 2:27Speaker 1: on or not. Marcel Reid's been named to the Johnny
- 2:32Speaker 1: Unitas Award Top ten list. I would think so read's
- 2:39Speaker 1: been pretty good. I think right now he's fourth in
- 2:43Speaker 1: the betting for Heisman. How old is Edo. By the way, Caleb,
- 2:49Speaker 1: how old is it? Huh? He's sixty four, but man,
- 2:54Speaker 1: he's got the energy of a guy half that age.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Edo's ready to go. He needed in term he you know,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I don't think I could volunteer. Maybe Brian Kelly could
- 3:06Speaker 1: be his interpreter. Steve Sarkisian said today both Arch Manning
- 3:12Speaker 1: and Michael Taff practiced. Taff, of course, had surgery on
- 3:17Speaker 1: the thumb. Manning is still in concussion protocol. The Longhorns
- 3:25Speaker 1: have a pretty big game against Vanderbilt on Saturday. Of course,
- 3:31Speaker 1: both players will be on tonight's sec availability report. Dallas
- 3:39Speaker 1: is out. Tampa is in to host the CFP National
- 3:45Speaker 1: Championship Game in twenty twenty nine. Jerry World had some
- 3:52Speaker 1: kind of conflict when they were put on that list.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Tampa stepped in this year. It's in Miami Hard Rock Stadium.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Next year Las Vegas, twenty twenty eight Nollins and now
- 4:10Speaker 1: twenty twenty nine Tampa. Game five of the World Series
- 4:18Speaker 1: Pivotal Game five tonight in Los Angeles. Blake Snell against
- 4:26Speaker 1: the Kid you Savage. Last night, the Blue Jays beat
- 4:32Speaker 1: the Dodgers six to two. Vlad Guerrero hit a two
- 4:37Speaker 1: run homer off of show Hey Otani in the third inning.
- 4:41Speaker 1: The Dodgers never kept up after that. The Blue Jays
- 4:47Speaker 1: got to the bullpen after Otani was lifted with nobody
- 4:53Speaker 1: out and two on in the seventh inning. Shane Bieber
- 4:58Speaker 1: was really good five and a third innings, four hits,
- 5:03Speaker 1: only one run. The blue Jays bullpen was good. And
- 5:11Speaker 1: if I will say again, if you're missing this World Series,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you're missing out. You just don't see two superstars at
- 5:22Speaker 1: the top of their game at the same time. But
- 5:25Speaker 1: that's what we're getting was Showe Aotani and vladimiric Carrero Junior.
- 5:30Speaker 1: By the way, Otani did not homer yesterday. What Yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 1: he was zero for three after a bit on base
- 5:39Speaker 1: ten times in a row. I believe struck out a
- 5:42Speaker 1: couple of times. Look, I'm gonna tell you, and I'm
- 5:47Speaker 1: a big John Smoltz fan, and he was trying to
- 5:52Speaker 1: all night explain the fatigue factor. First of all, what
- 5:57Speaker 1: it takes to just be a pitcher, a star pitcher,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you know, every fifth day and then play eighteen innings
- 6:05Speaker 1: in which you're on the base nine times. The night before,
- 6:11Speaker 1: you don't get to bed till like one thirty. Look,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm not asking you to feel sorry. I'm just explaining
- 6:16Speaker 1: he makes seventy million dollars, okay, but he throws six
- 6:21Speaker 1: innings of really good baseball. He made one mistake to
- 6:24Speaker 1: Vladd Junior in the third inning and it cost him
- 6:27Speaker 1: two runs. It was two to one when he walked
- 6:30Speaker 1: out of the game, right, I mean, he's this guy
- 6:35Speaker 1: is amazing. Smoltz called him one of the top three
- 6:40Speaker 1: pitchers in the game right now and maybe the best
- 6:42Speaker 1: pitcher in the game right now. And what he's doing
- 6:47Speaker 1: it just it's never been done and it will never
- 6:52Speaker 1: be done, I don't think anymore. Ever. So I'm just
- 6:57Speaker 1: saying you need to watch this stuff because it's stuff
- 7:02Speaker 1: that your grandkids will read about. I'll promise you. The
- 7:08Speaker 1: Dodgers may tweak their lineup, Dave Roberts saying that's a possibility.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Outfielder's Key k Hernandez, Andy Pajis, Tommy Edmond are seven
- 7:20Speaker 1: for fifty in the World Series. That's a buck forty.
- 7:25Speaker 1: That's seven eight and nine spots. That means a thirty
- 7:29Speaker 1: year sounds like the Rangers to me. That means a
- 7:32Speaker 1: thirty year lineup. Can't hit besides taoskar her nanas Will Smith,
- 7:38Speaker 1: Freddie Freeman. That's a good group, would show. Hey, but
- 7:43Speaker 1: you got to get something from the bottom of your lineup,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and the Blue Jays have been doing that, by the way,
- 7:48Speaker 1: they've been hitting top to bottom. And interesting night tonight,
- 7:53Speaker 1: pivotal game Game five. I like Blake Snell. I like
- 7:59Speaker 1: the pitching starting, pitching lineup for the Dodgers right now.
- 8:04Speaker 3: So that doesn't mean anything because then it goes back
- 8:09Speaker 3: to Toronto and the Blue Jays have already gone back
- 8:11Speaker 3: home trailing right, uh, three games to two in the series.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So it's good series. I'm just telling you need to
- 8:20Speaker 1: watch it. So we're gonna hear from Bucky. He met
- 8:27Speaker 1: with the media this afternoon. The opener is Monday at seven.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I had that schedule somewhere, maybe maybe I kept it here,
- 8:44Speaker 1: but the but the real season starts on Monday, not
- 8:47Speaker 1: an exhibition game. It's like Northwestern State or somebody like that.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the Classic A and M basketball opener. And then
- 8:56Speaker 1: who do they play Thursday? Of course Texas Southern. And
- 8:59Speaker 1: then do they play Oh no, no, that doesn't count.
- 9:04Speaker 1: That's not here. Yeah, We've already said the home schedules
- 9:08Speaker 1: the worst in the history of Texas A and M,
- 9:12Speaker 1: worst in the history of Texas.
- 9:13Speaker 4: A and M.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But they play some they play some decent games. They
- 9:17Speaker 1: just don't play them here unfortunately, until conference starts. All right,
- 9:21Speaker 1: enough of that final lap brought to you by and
- 9:25Speaker 1: Co Insurance.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Inco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 9:30Speaker 5: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 9:34Speaker 5: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 9:36Speaker 5: you know and trust, now with even more to offer
- 9:39Speaker 5: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're
- 9:42Speaker 5: still committed to protecting what matters most with the personalized
- 9:46Speaker 5: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 9:49Speaker 5: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team, and
- 9:52Speaker 5: co Insurance a Hub International company, so you're ready for tomorrow.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Denny Hamlin is on and what are his chances at
- 10:02Speaker 2: winning the championship this weekend at Phoenix?
- 10:04Speaker 4: It's it's week to week. I don't know.
- 10:07Speaker 6: I wish, I wish I could tell you that, well,
- 10:09Speaker 6: verch just faster things are. I don't know, you know,
- 10:13Speaker 6: I think we have an equal chances. Corey Han, who
- 10:16Speaker 6: do who has dominated his season. So he's still got
- 10:20Speaker 6: a twenty five percent chance and that's what we're going
- 10:24Speaker 6: to have next week. But you know, I'm optimistic about
- 10:26Speaker 6: the where we're running.
- 10:27Speaker 4: You know, these you know.
- 10:28Speaker 6: NASCAR races come down to sometimes things that are unpredictable,
- 10:32Speaker 6: and so you just hope that the things out of
- 10:34Speaker 6: your control don't inhibit you in any kind of way.
- 10:38Speaker 6: But I think on the racetrack, we can do our jobs.
- 10:40Speaker 6: If we do our jobs, I think we'll be one
- 10:42Speaker 6: of the guys that will contend next week.
- 10:44Speaker 7: And what are all the things that go into celebrating
- 10:46Speaker 7: a win.
- 10:47Speaker 6: I mean, from my standpoint, I run out of things
- 10:49Speaker 6: to say. I mean, I thank him, and I try
- 10:53Speaker 6: to go as creative as I can. And each win's
- 10:56Speaker 6: a little bit different. You don't get to see the
- 10:57Speaker 6: carpet walkers that often, right, the ones that are on
- 11:00Speaker 6: the second floor and they're they're not touching the race car,
- 11:02Speaker 6: and you know, the competition side over on the other side,
- 11:06Speaker 6: and you got people in the fab shop.
- 11:08Speaker 8: You just don't see those folks that often.
- 11:10Speaker 6: So it's an opportunity for us to kind of see
- 11:12Speaker 6: them face to face and and thank.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Them we're otherwise.
- 11:16Speaker 6: The only other time we have to thank them is essentially,
- 11:18Speaker 6: you know, in Victory Lane or you know, at at
- 11:21Speaker 6: the Christmas party at the end of the year.
- 11:23Speaker 4: So it's just our only shot.
- 11:24Speaker 7: You're on the final app find.
- 11:27Speaker 2: What you love, love what you find a total wine anymore.
- 11:32Speaker 9: There's so much waiting for use bes and beer.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Thousands of lines walk right.
- 11:39Speaker 10: Through the door.
- 11:40Speaker 6: It's all here to explore with guys in the know
- 11:44Speaker 6: and prices, so it does.
- 11:47Speaker 11: Fight bloy your love.
- 11:50Speaker 12: You're gonna find.

- 13:04Speaker 15: bad times, all the bad things he's done.
- 13:11Speaker 1: She just talks about.
- 13:12Speaker 15: The good times they've had and all the good times
- 13:15Speaker 15: to come.
- 13:19Speaker 1: She is a good welcome back, Glad to have you
- 13:22Speaker 1: with us. It is all well. On Wednesday Tomorrow, we've
- 13:25Speaker 1: got our Clark Eisenhower outdoor. Addition, we'll have a high
- 13:29Speaker 1: school report. We'll talk a little SEC football for the weekend.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Made do a another basketball interview Friday. Kirk Bowls and
- 13:45Speaker 1: Tony Catalina joined me for Friday as always, and Young
- 13:52Speaker 1: Ryan will be here in studio now. Bucky met with
- 13:58Speaker 1: members of the media this half afternoon. Talked about the
- 14:03Speaker 1: exhibition game and the opener coming up. On Monday. Tell
- 14:08Speaker 1: us about the exhibition, tell us what you saw, what
- 14:11Speaker 1: you like, what you did.
- 14:12Speaker 16: Like, I thought it was pretty good. It's a little
- 14:14Speaker 16: head of schedule from where I thought we'd be. I'm
- 14:16Speaker 16: not talking about scoreboard wise or anything like that, just
- 14:18Speaker 16: kind of knowing what's going on, you know, the little
- 14:20Speaker 16: head of schedule. You know, obviously Mac and popped in play,
- 14:24Speaker 16: so we're here to play a lot of guys, which
- 14:26Speaker 16: would be good for.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Them long term.
- 14:28Speaker 17: Uh.
- 14:29Speaker 16: First half, it was kind of like every game that
- 14:32Speaker 16: you play that I've been a part of early in
- 14:34Speaker 16: the season. Your first game, everybody kind of tried to
- 14:37Speaker 16: do a little too much, so we had too many turnovers,
- 14:39Speaker 16: probably took cold, bad shots. In the second half, we
- 14:42Speaker 16: settled down and moved the ball, shot a real hot
- 14:44Speaker 16: percentage from the field.
- 14:45Speaker 4: So I liked that, Uh, you.
- 14:48Speaker 16: Know, I mean, I liked that we got better as
- 14:50Speaker 16: the game went along defensively, got a lockdown a little
- 14:53Speaker 16: more in the half court, got beat off the dribble
- 14:55Speaker 16: too many times, and you know that's, uh, that's gotta
- 14:59Speaker 16: be a focused for us this season, because you can't
- 15:03Speaker 16: win if your half court defense isn't pretty dang good.
- 15:05Speaker 4: And you know, we're gonna have to get better and
- 15:07Speaker 4: better at that.
- 15:07Speaker 16: We're not the most physically imposing team, so we have
- 15:09Speaker 16: to have like great team defense, you know, and we're
- 15:12Speaker 16: not gonna be the best team like one on one defenders,
- 15:15Speaker 16: so our team defense has got to be a lead,
- 15:17Speaker 16: which is gonna require a little bit of time.
- 15:20Speaker 18: You mentioned how do you feel like your team's maybe
- 15:21Speaker 18: a little head of schedule? Just how close do you
- 15:23Speaker 18: feel like they are to running the system? It's a
- 15:26Speaker 18: standard that you guys would like.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:28Speaker 16: When I mean a head of schedule, I don't mean
- 15:30Speaker 16: like ahead of schedule compared to other teams. I just
- 15:33Speaker 16: mean based on you know, practice, six guys and some
- 15:36Speaker 16: of all that stuff.
- 15:36Speaker 4: You know.
- 15:37Speaker 16: So I mean I'm realistic, like I know, I know
- 15:40Speaker 16: what it is, right not not hopefully this is when
- 15:43Speaker 16: we look at this, like this is the furthest what
- 15:46Speaker 16: we'll be behind schedule going into game one, you know,
- 15:48Speaker 16: in the future.
- 15:50Speaker 4: What was that? Sorry was the other part of the question.
- 15:51Speaker 18: I was just what I was trying to ask was
- 15:53Speaker 18: how close do you feel.
- 15:54Speaker 12: Like you are to your guys running what you want
- 15:57Speaker 12: to the standard.
- 15:58Speaker 16: That you well, they're trying they're starting to get the
- 16:00Speaker 16: pace down, you know, and we were able to get
- 16:02Speaker 16: to the free throw line a lot of times because
- 16:04Speaker 16: which had attacked the charge circle like really quickly. In transition,
- 16:08Speaker 16: the urgency on offense get the ball down the floor
- 16:11Speaker 16: was way better than it was when we scrimmage Rice,
- 16:15Speaker 16: and then the urgency on defense to kind of figure
- 16:17Speaker 16: out how to force tempo was there. And so I'm
- 16:21Speaker 16: gonna say that we're getting closer, but we're we're not
- 16:23Speaker 16: where we got to get to. I think when you
- 16:24Speaker 16: have more depth with Pop and Mac come back, obviously
- 16:27Speaker 16: you have more depth, you have more shooting, and you
- 16:31Speaker 16: can obviously play faster and faster.
- 16:32Speaker 4: The more depth you have, depth you have what you
- 16:35Speaker 4: kind of expect those two guys to come back.
- 16:38Speaker 16: Uh, Pop, you know, Pop is gonna be a game
- 16:41Speaker 16: Dom decision in the first week, so they'll be back,
- 16:45Speaker 16: could play in the first game. You know, Mac will
- 16:47Speaker 16: be back hopefully in November.
- 16:48Speaker 4: We just don't know when yet.
- 16:50Speaker 12: You know. Most a lot of times teams bring in
- 16:53Speaker 12: two or three or four transfer guys. Of course, you'll
- 16:55Speaker 12: have to bring in a lot of guys. What challenges
- 16:58Speaker 12: did that present Shaws and coaching staff on just on
- 17:02Speaker 12: the court, like getting them set up for everything in
- 17:05Speaker 12: life around that's with that many guys.
- 17:09Speaker 16: Yes, tough, I mean, because there's there's a lot of
- 17:11Speaker 16: moving parts, and you know, I really appreciate all the
- 17:13Speaker 16: people here at A and M that work together because
- 17:16Speaker 16: I just getting a schedule coordinated for classes where they're
- 17:19Speaker 16: not you can find a time where there is not overlapping,
- 17:24Speaker 16: there's not overlap so you can practice. Right, That's not
- 17:28Speaker 16: as easy as you would think when you kind of
- 17:30Speaker 16: get people coming in here last second, even Ali Diva
- 17:33Speaker 16: comes in here and you know August essentially, right, So
- 17:37Speaker 16: that was that was a challenge find out where to
- 17:39Speaker 16: live all that. That's just everybody deals with that. But
- 17:43Speaker 16: I think that the main deal in particularly the second semester,
- 17:46Speaker 16: I think we're gonna have a really good schedule where
- 17:48Speaker 16: we're gonna be a practice you know earlier, and I
- 17:52Speaker 16: think it's gonna really help our guys. Most of the
- 17:54Speaker 16: teams that in our league were able to kind of
- 17:56Speaker 16: figure out two time slots where they want to practice,
- 17:58Speaker 16: and our administs been great figuring that out.
- 18:02Speaker 18: When you have all these new players, new system, two
- 18:06Speaker 18: key guys maybe.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Out at the beginning.
- 18:09Speaker 18: Are you kind of grading on a curve a little
- 18:10Speaker 18: bit early in the early going of the season, or
- 18:13Speaker 18: is the standard going to be I mean, like, how
- 18:16Speaker 18: do you kind of judge what you see?
- 18:19Speaker 16: Yeah, I just think you know, you can't be like
- 18:21Speaker 16: scoreboard oriented. And I don't mean that as a cop out,
- 18:23Speaker 16: Like I expect to win every single game we play,
- 18:25Speaker 16: so I don't want to get twisted like, oh, that's
- 18:27Speaker 16: a typical coach talk, like you're trying to No, I
- 18:30Speaker 16: don't mean that. I'm just saying that, like, you can
- 18:35Speaker 16: play really good and be on the right track, and
- 18:39Speaker 16: sometimes you can play game the scoreboard doesn't show that, right.
- 18:43Speaker 16: I think we got to keep focused long term though,
- 18:46Speaker 16: and as long as we're doing the right things, everything
- 18:48Speaker 16: will kind of take care of yourself.
- 18:50Speaker 4: And that's kind of what we focus on. We're doing
- 18:52Speaker 4: the right.
- 18:52Speaker 16: Things, or we're sharing the basketball, or we haveving hogh
- 18:55Speaker 16: number of assists and are doing we're supposed to do
- 18:58Speaker 16: on defense, Like I think that our team. You know,
- 19:01Speaker 16: we practiced yesterday and I watched a lot of tape
- 19:05Speaker 16: of the game with the first half of the game,
- 19:06Speaker 16: and like, hey man, this is us not sharing it, like.
- 19:08Speaker 4: We should, and we practiced yesterday.
- 19:11Speaker 16: I've never I don't know, have I've ever seen a
- 19:13Speaker 16: shooting display like I saw yesterday when we practice.
- 19:16Speaker 4: I mean that it was unbelievable, Like we went to Natty.
- 19:22Speaker 16: If we shot like that and we no one to
- 19:23Speaker 16: come within fifteen points of us, if we shot like
- 19:25Speaker 16: we did yesterday. I got so many stats of it.
- 19:27Speaker 16: I sent my phone somewhere. It was crazy and it
- 19:30Speaker 16: was just like up down bomb threes.
- 19:33Speaker 19: It was.
- 19:33Speaker 16: It was unbelievable, and so like we'll have some games
- 19:37Speaker 16: where we just absolutely look unbeatable, and it will have
- 19:40Speaker 16: some day days where those threes are missing and we're
- 19:42Speaker 16: gonna really have to lock up on defense.
- 19:45Speaker 20: Do you look at the performance like that and practice
- 19:47Speaker 20: and say like, okay, this is a sign, or like
- 19:49Speaker 20: this is a marker for me, or some days just
- 19:52Speaker 20: abuling that.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 16: I mean every team I've coached since were high volume
- 19:56Speaker 16: three point shooting. We've always had games we make twenty
- 19:58Speaker 16: plus threes. That what I saw yesterday was crazy though,
- 20:04Speaker 16: Like that was crazy because there was so it was
- 20:06Speaker 16: so fast.
- 20:06Speaker 4: It was just four minute games at.
- 20:07Speaker 16: NonStop, and the pitch had a rip bomb.
- 20:10Speaker 4: He just like the whole gym was just like what's
- 20:11Speaker 4: going on.
- 20:12Speaker 16: I felt so bad for our defensive coaches because like
- 20:14Speaker 16: it's like we're trying something new thought. They had to
- 20:18Speaker 16: figure it out, and it's just like just just drilled
- 20:21Speaker 16: them with three after three, you know. But now, I
- 20:25Speaker 16: think we'll have some days where it looks great.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Some days it won't.
- 20:30Speaker 16: But you got our strength, We got good shooters. We
- 20:34Speaker 16: got to play team d though, because sometimes shooters sometimes can't.
- 20:38Speaker 16: Sometimes they're not the best individual defenders, right. Great athletes
- 20:43Speaker 16: are usually great defenders. We're not the most athletic team,
- 20:46Speaker 16: So it's gonna be for us in those moments where
- 20:48Speaker 16: we're not banging in those threes, continuing to guard.
- 20:52Speaker 19: What what does it mean to have a rash On eligible?
- 20:55Speaker 19: And why is was he that picked them to be
- 20:57Speaker 19: a team captain.
- 20:58Speaker 16: And the leader got the biggest voice on the team.
- 21:01Speaker 16: I think he has a team's best interested at heart.
- 21:03Speaker 16: He's very competitive. He's an older guy right, been around.
- 21:09Speaker 16: I think that there's not a selfishness to him, Like
- 21:13Speaker 16: he really wants to win, Like that's his prime focus
- 21:15Speaker 16: is winning. And he's a good person, you know, Like
- 21:19Speaker 16: I mean, it's hard to lead like, what's the first
- 21:21Speaker 16: thing they're gonna look at for a leader, like or.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Do you practice what you preach?
- 21:25Speaker 16: Kind of and like he's like an everyday guy, so
- 21:29Speaker 16: therefore it's easy for him to lead others because they
- 21:33Speaker 16: can point to him and say, well, he lives it.
- 21:35Speaker 19: I know him wearing twelve's coincidental is kind of his
- 21:38Speaker 19: number before he came here. But you know, he said,
- 21:41Speaker 19: he's kind of learned, you know what that number means
- 21:43Speaker 19: to texting him and have you seen him and maybe
- 21:45Speaker 19: other guys in the team where everyone who is new
- 21:47Speaker 19: embrace uh kind of this culture and just you know
- 21:51Speaker 19: the twelfth man in Texas.
- 21:52Speaker 16: C and him and yeah, so for a bunch of
- 21:55Speaker 16: new guys, like you know, they didn't know a lot
- 21:58Speaker 16: about it when we started recruit recruiting them. I think
- 22:00Speaker 16: really going to those football games has really like opened
- 22:03Speaker 16: their eyes. And I think when they got to go
- 22:06Speaker 16: to Midnight Yelle, it really open their eyes, like and
- 22:09Speaker 16: that's why I really wanted them to go to that,
- 22:11Speaker 16: because there's no question when you go to a football
- 22:15Speaker 16: game or you go to Midnight Yelle, like, hey buddy,
- 22:18Speaker 16: this isn't about you, Like this place is a lot
- 22:22Speaker 16: bigger than you. And this isn't about what they're going
- 22:25Speaker 16: to do for you. It's really about like how hard
- 22:27Speaker 16: you're gonna have to fight for them. And you feel
- 22:31Speaker 16: that it's pretty easy, right, And I think that, uh,
- 22:35Speaker 16: I think that as the season goes and we start
- 22:39Speaker 16: having a great home game atmosphere and we have a
- 22:41Speaker 16: lot of wins together and it's kind of you know,
- 22:44Speaker 16: student section, fans, players all together, is that bond's going
- 22:49Speaker 16: to even so many even further?
- 22:50Speaker 17: How much did maybe bring in Alex Cruso.
- 22:53Speaker 18: Maybe helped to that end as well.
- 22:54Speaker 16: Yeah, A s was great talking to our guys. Just
- 22:57Speaker 16: talks about his love for this place. I mean he
- 22:59Speaker 16: says on basketball he watches in college is you know
- 23:01Speaker 16: A and M basketball. You know when we have recruits
- 23:06Speaker 16: in where we bring him down the football field for
- 23:08Speaker 16: the game and you know, Crusoe's parents are down there.
- 23:11Speaker 16: They talked to him, worked here, Mike did lived here,
- 23:18Speaker 16: you know, so you know when Ac comes back, I
- 23:20Speaker 16: mean comes back here to his golf tournament, come to
- 23:23Speaker 16: our practice gym, so it means something like you know,
- 23:26Speaker 16: and he talks and it's authentic, you know, the love
- 23:30Speaker 16: he asked for this place.
- 23:31Speaker 4: There's a reason for it.
- 23:32Speaker 17: You talked you talked earlier about, you know, watching taking
- 23:35Speaker 17: the film. What's the early scouting report for the home
- 23:37Speaker 17: opener against the Northwestern State.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they're athletic, they're good.
- 23:41Speaker 16: I mean, they played McNee pretty good till the last
- 23:43Speaker 16: ten minutes of that game last year in the conference tournament.
- 23:48Speaker 16: But again it's their first game. It's hard to gauge
- 23:51Speaker 16: things on exhibitions. You know, they're gonna play hard, mix
- 23:56Speaker 16: up man, mix up zone, you know. I think that
- 24:00Speaker 16: you don't really know. You just don't know much from exhibitions,
- 24:04Speaker 16: like you don't. So it's more about what we got
- 24:08Speaker 16: to do and focus on our stuff, and we're more
- 24:10Speaker 16: of that way anyway. Our style of plays more of that.
- 24:14Speaker 16: It's not so much counter punching, you know. So it's
- 24:16Speaker 16: kind of just doing our deal and we'll take it
- 24:19Speaker 16: from there.
- 24:20Speaker 17: Have you received any like text messages or phone calls
- 24:23Speaker 17: or advice ayheaded to home your first home game?
- 24:28Speaker 4: No, not really, yep, not really.
- 24:30Speaker 16: But if you got something, you know, as a coach,
- 24:34Speaker 16: you get butterflies or or how are you feeling, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 16: before the first game.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Of the season.
- 24:41Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean, I don't. I've done it so long
- 24:44Speaker 16: in different ways that you just want to play right,
- 24:49Speaker 16: But you really kind of as the season goes like
- 24:53Speaker 16: basketball is a tournament sport. We know that, and every
- 24:57Speaker 16: game matters, we know that, but this is so much
- 24:59Speaker 16: about that.
- 25:01Speaker 4: The only time that you feel.
- 25:02Speaker 16: It is when it's win or go home. That's the
- 25:09Speaker 16: only time I really feel it, because this no matter
- 25:12Speaker 16: what happens in this next game, this is about us
- 25:15Speaker 16: progressing to get better. And I will always make decisions
- 25:19Speaker 16: even in that game that may not even be the
- 25:20Speaker 16: best for that game. It's just gonna be about our improvement.
- 25:25Speaker 16: Like there will be games like, well, maybe we could
- 25:27Speaker 16: sit in a two three zone and that's gonna give
- 25:29Speaker 16: us our best chance to win or win by the most.
- 25:31Speaker 16: But if we don't feel that's gonna be our best
- 25:33Speaker 16: chance to win long term, we're gonna stay with what
- 25:36Speaker 16: we do to get better at what we do. Like
- 25:38Speaker 16: we may give up twenty five points on press runouts,
- 25:41Speaker 16: but if we're gonna play that way, we're gonna stick
- 25:43Speaker 16: with it. And so because of that, I'm just looking
- 25:48Speaker 16: at this kind of like practice. When you get the
- 25:52Speaker 16: real is when you're at that tournament time. There is
- 25:56Speaker 16: nothing you're going for after that, Like you're not really
- 25:59Speaker 16: looking at anything after this?
- 26:00Speaker 4: Is it? So all legs going to this basket?
- 26:04Speaker 16: There is no Hey, if we think the zone is
- 26:05Speaker 16: gonna help with win, we're gonna run that zone right
- 26:08Speaker 16: because you don't get to play another game to work
- 26:10Speaker 16: on your man. So more than anything, I'm excited for
- 26:14Speaker 16: these guys to get out there and play in front
- 26:17Speaker 16: of this crowd.
- 26:18Speaker 12: The conversation a lot of conversation about tournament expansion. Do
- 26:22Speaker 12: you have any thoughts on the number of teams that
- 26:25Speaker 12: you think are is best for the tournament?
- 26:27Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean I like it like it is sixty
- 26:28Speaker 16: four or I guess sixty eight, whatever it is, I
- 26:32Speaker 16: like that better. I just think it means more the
- 26:34Speaker 16: more the more you get in, the further to loocid field,
- 26:37Speaker 16: and how many of those have a chance to go
- 26:41Speaker 16: win a national championship. So I like it where it is,
- 26:43Speaker 16: and I like the mid majors being in there, right,
- 26:46Speaker 16: And I think you gotta fight for what you gotta
- 26:47Speaker 16: earn it to get in the tournament. You know, you
- 26:50Speaker 16: really got to earn earn to get in the tournament.
- 26:52Speaker 18: It's clear that continuity is really big in your system.
- 26:55Speaker 18: Who's a guy who's maybe played at a more traditionally
- 26:58Speaker 18: slow system in the past that you think has made
- 27:00Speaker 18: a lot of strides picking up playing.
- 27:03Speaker 16: Fast for you, Well, I mean, Kansas plays different than
- 27:07Speaker 16: we play, really, you know, different in ways. I think
- 27:11Speaker 16: that Zach really kind of fits getting up and down
- 27:15Speaker 16: in his position and not being a slug fest. And
- 27:18Speaker 16: he's a shooter, so he likes playing in pacing space, right,
- 27:23Speaker 16: and so I think he's adjusted pretty well as you
- 27:25Speaker 16: saw in the in the first scrimmage, you know so
- 27:29Speaker 16: or in the exhibition game others.
- 27:34Speaker 4: I don't know. I see a joy in a lot
- 27:35Speaker 4: of these guys playing right now. I do see that.
- 27:37Speaker 16: I see a joy in them playing, and that's always good.
- 27:41Speaker 16: So you don't have that if they feel like they're
- 27:43Speaker 16: being beat down, limited, or what they're doing doesn't just
- 27:48Speaker 16: fit them. I think Rashwan, you know, he could tell.
- 27:52Speaker 16: He gets the most winded out there, plays so hard
- 27:54Speaker 16: he runs up and down the court three times. He
- 27:56Speaker 16: looks like he's about to fall over dead, but he'll
- 28:00Speaker 16: get there eventually.
- 28:02Speaker 1: That's bucky. That'll get you ready for the opener on Monday.
- 28:06Speaker 1: He was mentioning Pop Isaac's and I tweeted this earlier
- 28:10Speaker 1: this afternoon. If you follow me on the X, which
- 28:13Speaker 1: you should. At Chip Sports Talk, Pop was misdiagnosed with
- 28:19Speaker 1: a stress fracture at first. The subsequent Mr Eyes said, no,
- 28:28Speaker 1: he doesn't have a stress fracture, has a little hamstring tweak.
- 28:33Speaker 1: They have been extra cautious with him. He will be
- 28:37Speaker 1: the best player on the court, but he hasn't played
- 28:40Speaker 1: in a year. It's going to take him a little while.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Don't know if he's going to play. Bucky seemed to
- 28:45Speaker 1: indicate he might play a Monday night. We haven't seen
- 28:51Speaker 1: him in competition here yet, and I am anxious to
- 28:56Speaker 1: do that. But again, I believe it will take him
- 28:59Speaker 1: a lot little bit to get back to the competitive
- 29:03Speaker 1: spirit when you haven't played in that long. But I'm
- 29:06Speaker 1: looking forward to seeing him whenever it is it steps
- 29:09Speaker 1: on the court because he will be their best player
- 29:13Speaker 1: right now now in Baga is again he said sometime
- 29:19Speaker 1: in November, so we'll see obviously, big guy guard. But
- 29:27Speaker 1: if you pay any attention to college basketball, and there's
- 29:30Speaker 1: a couple of you that do you remember Pop Isaac's
- 29:35Speaker 1: at Texas Tech. He is a really nice player, so
- 29:39Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to seeing him, and I think it
- 29:42Speaker 1: will be sooner rather than later. Gallery has been part
- 29:46Speaker 1: of our community since nineteen ninety three, and I was
- 29:50Speaker 1: thinking about that. You know, I started this show in
- 29:55Speaker 1: ninety four. I was certainly here in ninety three, so
- 29:58Speaker 1: Gallery and I have kind of grown up together. I'm

- 33:02Speaker 1: Last week, I meant to go back and make a change.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I didn't, and it worked in my favor. This week,
- 33:08Speaker 1: I still need to go back and make a change
- 33:11Speaker 1: or two. I gotta be honest with you. I'm surprised
- 33:16Speaker 1: to see North Texas almost a touchdown favorite over Navy
- 33:19Speaker 1: this weekend. Georgia, Florida, the world's largest outdoor contail party.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Formerly formerly we can't say that anymore. That's the tiebreaker Ellison, Rudder,
- 33:33Speaker 1: Hayes Adam consolidated, Vanderbilt in Texas, Miami, SMU USC Nebraska,
- 33:40Speaker 1: Navy in North Texas, Texas Tech and Kansas State, Cincinnati
- 33:45Speaker 1: and Utah and man, that thing has gone crazy. I
- 33:50Speaker 1: look today, it's like nine points. Utah is Cincinnati's quarterback hurt?
- 33:58Speaker 1: Something's not right there, something it's weird there.
- 34:00Speaker 22: Maybe they're having to maybe they have to hire Looke
- 34:03Speaker 22: fickle back ten and a half they have Fickleback.
- 34:06Speaker 1: That thing has gone nuts this week. I don't know
- 34:09Speaker 1: what's going on at Maybe there's some betting going on.
- 34:12Speaker 1: And Broncos and Texans. Those are the ten games we
- 34:17Speaker 1: got going right now this week. Five o'clock Friday, Jump Online.
- 34:21Speaker 1: What's wrong? The leading rusher is out? Okay, they're running
- 34:25Speaker 1: back is out. Man, he must be really good. I
- 34:28Speaker 1: haven't watched him a lot seven and a half yards
- 34:31Speaker 1: of carry that that would help it off. Fite what happens?
- 34:35Speaker 1: That's pretty good. It's more than a first down, Okay,
- 34:38Speaker 1: it first down and a half. Friday's Fareless Football Forecast Contest,
- 34:42Speaker 1: America's most Love football Pick Them Contest, Division of Sports Talk,
- 34:45Speaker 1: presented by Swarn Them and flooring and Chad Jones alawe
- 34:50Speaker 1: stuck a little baseball? Can we sure you're watching?
- 34:54Speaker 23: I watched it till the fourteenth the other night, you were.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Way ahead of me. I watched till o Tony tied
- 34:59Speaker 1: it up. I went to bed, I watched.
- 35:03Speaker 22: I watched him put the game on the line for
- 35:05Speaker 22: Mookie Betts.
- 35:08Speaker 23: Three or four times.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he hadn't been hitting. No, Uh, they need him
- 35:13Speaker 1: to hit. They really need him to hit if they're
- 35:15Speaker 1: going to win. He's too good a player not to hit.
- 35:22Speaker 1: But you can have slumps a lot. Yeah, they.
- 35:27Speaker 22: Terrible.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I know, I know, you know.
- 35:30Speaker 22: You know what a wise baseball philosopher once said about
- 35:33Speaker 22: this game.
- 35:35Speaker 1: You never know, no, joaquinan DeHart, No, you never know. Yes,
- 35:40Speaker 1: he did.
- 35:41Speaker 23: Baseball.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Oh, baseball been very very good to.
- 35:44Speaker 22: Me sometimes baseball Lebron Washington said, Uh, that's how baseball goes.
- 35:52Speaker 1: That's how baseball go Yes, the great one, Ron Washington,
- 35:56Speaker 1: that's how baseball go.
- 35:58Speaker 22: Also, teaching you how to play first base is the
- 36:02Speaker 22: hardest thing you could ever do in your life.
- 36:05Speaker 4: That's what I was thinking when you said in Washington.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the Dodgers aren't training a monkey to play
- 36:12Speaker 1: for the Dodgers. Dodgers aren't hitting for sure.
- 36:16Speaker 23: Well, and no, Tommy's not going to get another pitch
- 36:18Speaker 23: to it.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Well he he better not get another pitch to hit.
- 36:21Speaker 23: They would walk in the go ahead run.
- 36:24Speaker 1: I said that. I absolutely said that. They've done it
- 36:27Speaker 1: with Barry Bonds, right, Yes, I mean I I would.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I would do it too. I would. And I'll tell
- 36:32Speaker 1: you what I do with with vladd Junior right now too,
- 36:35Speaker 1: same thing. I would not pitch to Lad Junior. Not
- 36:39Speaker 1: pitch to Vlad Junior.
- 36:42Speaker 22: He is actually approaching his father finally.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Well, I know he's not. He's not.
- 36:51Speaker 23: He's still not as good as his dad.
- 36:55Speaker 1: He hasn't played long enough to merit that yet. No,
- 36:59Speaker 1: but if he can, he will be. He has just been.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I've been really impressed because you know, a lot of
- 37:05Speaker 1: these guys, you just don't watch game in game out
- 37:07Speaker 1: during the season, right, you just see snippets and what
- 37:11Speaker 1: he did not last night, but the night before, in
- 37:13Speaker 1: that eighteen inning game that they lost, I mean just
- 37:16Speaker 1: everything field throwing, just awareness, running bases. And of course
- 37:21Speaker 1: he's not the swiftest guy in the world, but those
- 37:25Speaker 1: two guys have just put on a clinic and it's
- 37:28Speaker 1: just so much fun to see two guys that are
- 37:30Speaker 1: the best in the world of what they do playing
- 37:32Speaker 1: at the highest level, which you don't get very often, right,
- 37:36Speaker 1: And that's what's made it fun. I think we're going
- 37:39Speaker 1: to see seven games, and you know, bring it on.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I just I you know, in two thousand to two
- 37:48Speaker 1: thousand and four, when Barry Bonds was on TV, you
- 37:51Speaker 1: had to watch is at that you didn't want to
- 37:53Speaker 1: miss anything, right, And I feel the same way about
- 37:57Speaker 1: both of these guys, and obviously especially showing, but but
- 38:00Speaker 1: you don't want to miss what they're doing well.
- 38:03Speaker 22: And if the Dodgers lose this with no Springer and
- 38:08Speaker 22: no Bobashett.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Right with well, let's let's let's be clear, Boba sheet
- 38:13Speaker 1: on one leg has been pretty good.
- 38:16Speaker 22: But if they lose it, yeah, if they don't pull
- 38:19Speaker 22: this out, yeah, with by far the best money spent,
- 38:25Speaker 22: because I'm going to discount the Mets just spending money, well.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I would I would argue that that with with deals
- 38:31Speaker 1: and I don't know what the money was because some
- 38:33Speaker 1: of these guys that have come over from Toronto, I'm
- 38:35Speaker 1: sure the other teams are paying for right, Yeah, but man,
- 38:39Speaker 1: at what they did at the deadline, that's been very
- 38:41Speaker 1: impressive as well.
- 38:42Speaker 22: Yeah, but I'm just saying that's the team that's going
- 38:45Speaker 22: to go out and try to win the World Series.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Now by the billion dollar roster. With the billion dollar roster. Yeah, well,
- 38:51Speaker 1: you know it doesn't always work that way, No, it
- 38:54Speaker 1: just it doesn't. But uh, it's it's fun to watch
- 38:58Speaker 1: right now. And and I will say yet, if if
- 39:02Speaker 1: you're a sports fan, not just a baseball fan, if
- 39:05Speaker 1: you're a sports fan, you need to watch these games
- 39:09Speaker 1: because these guys they are just they're so much fun
- 39:13Speaker 1: to watch and it's it's fun to see playing at
- 39:17Speaker 1: such a high level. All right, we'll take a break,
- 39:19Speaker 1: we'll come back. The Texans Report is brought to you

- 40:26Speaker 25: teams at the bottom in the playoffs right now, I
- 40:29Speaker 25: could certainly see them come back. I could see the

- 43:58Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, Caleb, want to play some more
- 44:01Speaker 1: of that album. I listened to that like start to
- 44:07Speaker 1: finish a couple of times within the last six months,
- 44:09Speaker 1: and I went, and that's the first song I've said
- 44:13Speaker 1: this before. The Shotgun Willie was the first song I
- 44:16Speaker 1: heard on Coke FM, and I when I heard you
- 44:24Speaker 1: know that song, I went, I don't know who this is,
- 44:26Speaker 1: but I'm all in on this guy. But this whole
- 44:29Speaker 1: album is pretty phenomenal. Shotgun Willie from nineteen seventy two,
- 44:35Speaker 1: seventy three, Yeah, seventy three, It's all well. On Wednesday,
- 44:39Speaker 1: Scott Clindennon is here. Elco has gotten rid of one
- 44:43Speaker 1: coach in the SEC so far.
- 44:46Speaker 23: One two Florida.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Oh Florida. Yeah, yeah, well he helped, He certainly helped.
- 44:55Speaker 1: He was the last straw in both of these, right.
- 45:00Speaker 22: Mississippi State was the last straw, because what happens if
- 45:02Speaker 22: we have another second half.
- 45:04Speaker 23: Rally this year?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Another second half rally?
- 45:07Speaker 22: Yeah, like they did last year. They won like six
- 45:11Speaker 22: of their last seven games last year, and then we
- 45:13Speaker 22: couldn't fire. So he beat Mississippi State and immediately you.
- 45:16Speaker 23: Got a fireing.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't.
- 45:18Speaker 23: You can't let that happen again.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Exactly. You know, people are making them and we talked
- 45:24Speaker 1: about this off the air, people making a big deal
- 45:26Speaker 1: about the Louisiana governor saying, Scott Woodward ain't hiring our
- 45:30Speaker 1: football coach. We are, and I'm going, but who's we Well,
- 45:35Speaker 1: the governor's buddies, you know, board of supervisors, which he
- 45:39Speaker 1: puts on the board.
- 45:40Speaker 23: And how does the governor and how is that?
- 45:42Speaker 1: How is that different from any other major college football hiring.
- 45:46Speaker 1: There's no athletic director left that hires a major college
- 45:49Speaker 1: football coach, and it does not happen. And so this
- 45:54Speaker 1: is just this is this Landry coming out being Landry.
- 45:57Speaker 1: This is Louisiana, man, and everybody's going that's crazy. It's
- 46:02Speaker 1: not crazy. Now, there may not be too many governors
- 46:06Speaker 1: involved in hiring football coaches left, or I may just
- 46:09Speaker 1: be naive about that. But the fact that the athletic
- 46:13Speaker 1: director doesn't hire the football coach, that's not news, is it. Yeah, No,
- 46:18Speaker 1: it's not news.
- 46:19Speaker 22: Yeah, but basically you said that you're not you're not
- 46:23Speaker 22: the athletic director anymore.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Well, again, it's only a matter of time, isn't it.
- 46:28Speaker 1: And don't you want the new coach even though you're
- 46:32Speaker 1: being hired by the governor and his buddies. The new coach,
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't care who it is, is still going to
- 46:37Speaker 1: want to know who my athletic director is going to be?
- 46:41Speaker 1: Or does it matter anymore because he's getting you know,
- 46:43Speaker 1: ten million a year and he's getting a big contract.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Doesn't even matter who the athletic diressor matters? How So
- 46:50Speaker 1: you got to know who you're working for with you
- 46:54Speaker 1: ain't working for the athletic director. Let's let's be clear
- 46:57Speaker 1: about that. Yes, a, no, you're not. You ain't working
- 47:03Speaker 1: for the athletic director. Not as a head football coach
- 47:05Speaker 1: at major college you are not. You're you're working for
- 47:08Speaker 1: the people who hire you and that ain't the athletic director.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Now I realized you have it works to have a relationship.
- 47:15Speaker 1: I'm not saying that, right, I'm not saying you ignore him.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I'm not saying you don't you know, but but you
- 47:23Speaker 1: ain't working for him. But I still, as a head coach,
- 47:27Speaker 1: would want to know, Hey, who's who's going to be
- 47:29Speaker 1: the guy running the department?
- 47:31Speaker 12: Right?
- 47:31Speaker 1: Yeah, So they're going to have to figure out who
- 47:35Speaker 1: the AD is going to be too, because I doubt
- 47:37Speaker 1: it's going to be Scott Woodward.
- 47:39Speaker 22: No, I I pretty much I think he's he's done, yes,
- 47:44Speaker 22: because the the important part of the of the the
- 47:51Speaker 22: press conference was, you know, he gave the same kind
- 47:55Speaker 22: of contract to Jimbo Fisher.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I didn't hear the I didn't hear the president.
- 47:59Speaker 12: No.
- 47:59Speaker 22: He said, yeah, okay, yeah. And I'd rather have the president.
- 48:04Speaker 22: I'd rather have Donald Trump pick the next football coach
- 48:08Speaker 22: in Scott wood.
- 48:10Speaker 1: That's funny. I don't care who you are.
- 48:14Speaker 22: Now that being said, there is a long and distinguished
- 48:22Speaker 22: history of the great the governor of the great State
- 48:26Speaker 22: of Louisia.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not arguing that. I'm not I'm not arguing that.
- 48:30Speaker 1: And I said that was a disclaimer is I don't
- 48:33Speaker 1: know how many other governors of state universities are are
- 48:37Speaker 1: directly involved in hiring football coaches, but I bet it's
- 48:40Speaker 1: more than one. Let me just say that, I bet
- 48:43Speaker 1: it's more than one.
- 48:44Speaker 22: Okay, I just think that somebody finally came out and said,
- 48:50Speaker 22: you know the money, the guaranteed money, and he said, hey,
- 48:54Speaker 22: it's tax dollars, which in Louisiana, that is the hypocrisy
- 48:59Speaker 22: of them complaining about money when they stole money from
- 49:02Speaker 22: the the children's charity hospital to play foot to pay
- 49:07Speaker 22: football players before nil came along.
- 49:10Speaker 23: The hypocrisy is just too great.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Look, let's not just pick on Louisiana. The hypocrisy is
- 49:16Speaker 1: great throughout college football. And if you don't acknowledge that,
- 49:20Speaker 1: you know, you're you're you're just putting your head in
- 49:22Speaker 1: the sand. I realized Louisiana's extra special has been in
- 49:27Speaker 1: the course of history. Yeah, like I get that.
- 49:29Speaker 23: Like, if you're.
- 49:32Speaker 22: Your family members are in jail and you could play football,
- 49:36Speaker 22: we're gonna get you out of jail. You're gonna get
- 49:37Speaker 22: a pardon from from Governor Long.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean again, but it.
- 49:42Speaker 22: Makes it, It takes me back to Blaze and Paul Newman,
- 49:46Speaker 22: and uh, you know, I saw the five guys standing
- 49:51Speaker 22: beside beside him and instantly came to my mind, that's
- 49:56Speaker 22: the best damn yes man you could ever have.
- 49:58Speaker 23: And they're their wives.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so there you go.
- 50:04Speaker 22: But the chances that the governor of Louisiana is going
- 50:07Speaker 22: to pick a football coach better than Brian Kelly are
- 50:12Speaker 22: not as great as they are in finding a football
- 50:15Speaker 22: coach who fits better than Brian Kelly.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's I think that's who's that going to be.
- 50:24Speaker 23: I don't know.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't either, because it's going to be crazy, right,
- 50:27Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's it's a free for all. And
- 50:30Speaker 1: we're not through because I don't think schools are finished
- 50:34Speaker 1: firing coaches yet. There. Uh so we're not. We're not finished. Well,
- 50:38Speaker 1: but you know what, I just think this is the norm. Now,
- 50:42Speaker 1: this this isn't you know we're talking about like, oh,
- 50:44Speaker 1: this is an outrageous year. Well, you know last year
- 50:46Speaker 1: and the year before, weren't you.
- 50:48Speaker 23: Know nobody in nastyc went out last year?
- 50:51Speaker 1: Is that right? Yes? Okay, nobody got fired last year? Yes? Okay? Anyway, Uh,
- 50:56Speaker 1: this is gonna be the norm going forward?
- 50:58Speaker 4: All right?
- 50:59Speaker 1: You have you have two years, right pretty much, some
- 51:03Speaker 1: places maybe less, but but you have two years and
- 51:07Speaker 1: and and then. But but what what's interesting and what's
- 51:12Speaker 1: going to be interesting with this Louisiana hire Scott and
- 51:15Speaker 1: other hires is there's already one hundred and sixty seven
- 51:20Speaker 1: million dollars ode on the books with like eight programs,
- 51:24Speaker 1: and and some of those aren't even the major programs.
- 51:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Yes, that that that ostensibly
- 51:31Speaker 1: can't afford that. So are we going to see different
- 51:35Speaker 1: contracts going forward? Or are we not? It is the
- 51:39Speaker 1: competition so great that that there's not going to be
- 51:43Speaker 1: a president or a governor whoever's making any.
- 51:48Speaker 22: Decision told us happening fully guaranteed exactly?
- 51:54Speaker 1: Okay, would they give him?
- 51:55Speaker 23: I mean a lot of money one hundred million dollars.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of money. So I don't think that's
- 52:00Speaker 1: gonna change, right, And.
- 52:01Speaker 22: The link of time was the same ten year contract
- 52:05Speaker 22: that's not gonna ately guaranteed.
- 52:07Speaker 1: So if you think, what do you think is going
- 52:08Speaker 1: to happen here with Elko?
- 52:11Speaker 22: I think Elko is gonna get a little bit of
- 52:13Speaker 22: money but I think Elco agreed to this contract structure
- 52:17Speaker 22: to you're gonna pay me for me winning. Well, right now,
- 52:20Speaker 22: it looks like he's going to be winning. So if
- 52:22Speaker 22: he goes to college football playoff, I think the bonuses
- 52:25Speaker 22: that he's a cued in this year become permanent, and
- 52:30Speaker 22: then you give him another set of bonuses going forward. Okay,
- 52:35Speaker 22: that this is okay, We're gonna give you money when
- 52:39Speaker 22: you perform. So Indiana is giving him money because because
- 52:45Speaker 22: he performed, though, but I'm saying he still has performed.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Oh look, I'm not I'm not anti Signetti. What he
- 52:54Speaker 1: has done in Indiana, which was the losing his program
- 52:57Speaker 1: in the history of major college for than Vanderbilt, ok
- 53:00Speaker 1: more than Vanderbilt because of James Franklin. Actually, yes, yes,
- 53:03Speaker 1: James Franklin moved just out in front of Indiana. Okay,
- 53:07Speaker 1: So what he's done is phenomenal.
- 53:08Speaker 23: Right, I thought it was Kansas State in Iowa State.
- 53:11Speaker 22: Oh wait, they are the coaches that raise theirfile.
- 53:16Speaker 1: No doubt. Okay, and and we're paid accordingly at that time. Okay,
- 53:23Speaker 1: but you just mentioned I mean they just gave him
- 53:26Speaker 1: a hundred one hundred million right ten years something like that.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Ten years. Yes, I mean.
- 53:33Speaker 30: There there are a very few number of coaches that
- 53:38Speaker 30: we can come up with that have had a ten
- 53:42Speaker 30: year run, right in college football.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I mean a handful, yes, when you think about it. Yes,
- 53:48Speaker 1: So the odds are Signetti is going to have four
- 53:54Speaker 1: and seven, five and seven seasons and they may not
- 53:57Speaker 1: be soon, but in ten years, that's going to happen.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I mean it just that's historic. It's gonna happen, and
- 54:03Speaker 1: people are going, how do we get rid of this guy?
- 54:06Speaker 1: We owe him, We still owe him fifty million dollars, right,
- 54:10Speaker 1: And I just don't see that it changing anytime soon.
- 54:16Speaker 23: No, I don't either.
- 54:18Speaker 22: So I just unless unless you're a complete embarrassing like part,
- 54:25Speaker 22: I mean, like Belichick is.
- 54:28Speaker 1: They're getting better.
- 54:29Speaker 23: They are getting better.
- 54:30Speaker 22: They've actually lost two games they could have and should
- 54:33Speaker 22: have won. Yeah, and if they'd won the game two
- 54:36Speaker 22: weeks ago, he might have played for the tie in
- 54:39Speaker 22: this last game, but the pressure of everything on top
- 54:42Speaker 22: of him.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Hey, I am not even going for it.
- 54:45Speaker 23: I didn't either, but I'm saying he might.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Not have, right, Yeah, but right now he doesn't have
