- 1:04Speaker 3: All right, Welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:09Speaker 3: at Jillette Stadium, and we've got our you know, emergency
- 1:13Speaker 3: crew here. Matisa is here, Alex is here, Not that
- 1:17Speaker 3: it's an emergency when Alex is here, but she's here
- 1:21Speaker 3: because Paul's out, he's at a funeral. Nobody we know,
- 1:25Speaker 3: UH and Deuce and Evan are in indye. Of course,
- 1:30Speaker 3: Deuce will be calling in at about one ten, so
- 1:32Speaker 3: we'll talk to him live, but we'll hold on down
- 1:35Speaker 3: the fort today. We've got a lot to talk about,
- 1:38Speaker 3: a lot going on in Indy. Mike Vrabel talked extensively yesterday.
- 1:43Speaker 3: He talked with the media, He talked with UH, Deuce
- 1:47Speaker 3: and UH Evan, and then he talked with the media
- 1:50Speaker 3: at like a little side thing at a table, So
- 1:54Speaker 3: he was all over the place yesterday. Had some interesting
- 1:57Speaker 3: things to talk about. I think, you know, we're gonna
- 1:59Speaker 3: antaly that as we as we do. We'll take your emails,
- 2:02Speaker 3: we'll take your calls at a five to five pats
- 2:05Speaker 3: five hundred. We'll talk about free agents, we'll talk about
- 2:09Speaker 3: draft picks. So we got a lot to go, a
- 2:11Speaker 3: lot to do. So what's on your mind? I know,
- 2:14Speaker 3: I know around here. Of course, we had that blizzard.
- 2:17Speaker 3: We're still shoveling out from that. It's been a real mess,
- 2:22Speaker 3: but you know, we made it. We made it somewhat. Yeah, No,
- 2:26Speaker 3: it was it was bad. I was down the cape.
- 2:28Speaker 3: We got three feet sustain wins. Thank god I didn't
- 2:32Speaker 3: lose my electricity because everybody else did. I don't know.
- 2:35Speaker 3: My house is three inned and thirty years old. I
- 2:36Speaker 3: don't know how we didn't lose it electricity, but we
- 2:39Speaker 3: made it through.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I just feel like it's been NonStop. We the blizzard
- 2:41Speaker 1: before the super Bowl, we go to the super Bowl,
- 2:43Speaker 1: we get back combine blizzard.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Oh yes, no, I knew. I knew it was gonna
- 2:48Speaker 3: snow that. I knew we were in for it this year.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I just had a feeling and thank god I got
- 2:53Speaker 3: my arrand snowblower. By the way, it's it's you know,
- 2:57Speaker 3: it's like eight years old and it's it's operating like
- 3:01Speaker 3: a champ. So shout out to Aaron's for putting out
- 3:04Speaker 3: a good product. I'm once, I told these guys, once
- 3:07Speaker 3: the winter's over, I am sending it in for a
- 3:10Speaker 3: full massage, a little love, give that thing some love.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, exactly, I am. I am putting it on
- 3:20Speaker 3: vacation once the winter is over, because it has earned it.
- 3:23Speaker 3: It has earned it.
- 3:24Speaker 6: So, like the big debate is is this as bad
- 3:26Speaker 6: as the blizzards seventy eight?
- 3:28Speaker 2: Paul said it wasn't.
- 3:29Speaker 3: But it was not in turn, I think record wise
- 3:33Speaker 3: it was, but I think as in terms of impact
- 3:36Speaker 3: that came on so suddenly. I mean cars were literally
- 3:41Speaker 3: on one.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Twenty eight for weeks, strand and buried with the text
- 3:45Speaker 1: better now like you can get the flows down of that. Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: Providence got hit for two days pretty bad, but like
- 3:51Speaker 1: back then you don't know what streets are.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it was I remember, I remember that because
- 3:56Speaker 3: I lived through it. Yeah, that was really bad. That
- 4:00Speaker 3: was like really life threatening that storm. Even though maybe
- 4:05Speaker 3: some of the accumulation wasn't as bad, it was just
- 4:07Speaker 3: the way it came down so suddenly. And like you said,
- 4:12Speaker 3: the plowing wasn't as good. Back then, you didn't get
- 4:15Speaker 3: as much advanced notice. People lost electricity for a lot longer.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I remember we lost it for a week. So seventy
- 4:24Speaker 3: eight was worse in terms of impact. But you know,
- 4:27Speaker 3: this sets some records for accumulation.
- 4:29Speaker 1: For sure, Providence has more snow than Anchorage, Alaska. Wow,
- 4:33Speaker 1: that's something.
- 4:36Speaker 8: Wow.
- 4:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I feel bad for you guys out here. Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 6: we got nothing in Western mass for once.
- 4:43Speaker 2: After all year.
- 4:44Speaker 6: The most it feels like the most consistent winter snowfall
- 4:48Speaker 6: we've had for what going back like over a month now,
- 4:52Speaker 6: since I don't know of my life, at least since
- 4:54Speaker 6: twenty fifteen. I remember when twenty fifteen Boston just kept
- 4:58Speaker 6: making like a snow mountain.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It was every week and I was just showing it,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and it did the snow.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Mountain and seaport didn't melt till like June or.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Absolutely remember that that was wild. Yeah, and this isn't
- 5:07Speaker 3: going to melt for a while too, because I mean
- 5:10Speaker 3: down the cape it might get to like forty five
- 5:12Speaker 3: on Saturday, but it's not We're not going to really
- 5:14Speaker 3: have it warm enough long enough to get rid of this,
- 5:17Speaker 3: and we'll probably have more snow before it's over.
- 5:20Speaker 6: So in Sandwich, did you see any parts of like
- 5:22Speaker 6: the Bay and like the waves frozen? Because I saw
- 5:25Speaker 6: some pretty insane videos that I didn't know it were possible,
- 5:28Speaker 6: like defied physics.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I I I wanted to go down there,
- 5:32Speaker 3: but with all the roads and unplowed. I haven't ventured
- 5:36Speaker 3: that far, but it must have because the wind was coming.
- 5:39Speaker 3: If you were facing northeast, you were getting battered. You know,
- 5:43Speaker 3: like like one side of my car was just like
- 5:46Speaker 3: yeah covered.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeh.
- 5:47Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 5:48Speaker 2: So it came up.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it was crazy.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So Eric, hopefully it's over.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's our that's our trials and tribulations.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Some good ski.
- 5:58Speaker 1: N I did you finally?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Have you been to work since the Super Bowl? But
- 6:03Speaker 2: you've just been.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Snowboarding the stages of grief, just just snowboarding, trying to
- 6:09Speaker 1: try to get out while I can. So it's been nice. Yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 1: all right.
- 6:12Speaker 3: So yesterday Mike Rabel talked for a long time and
- 6:17Speaker 3: with a lot of people, said a lot of stuff.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Most of it was, you know, fairly benign. But you know,
- 6:23Speaker 3: you know, Alex we were talking earlier. I thought he
- 6:25Speaker 3: had some interesting things to say. And when you couple
- 6:28Speaker 3: it with what Elliott Wolf had to say earlier in
- 6:31Speaker 3: the in the week, you know, I think in their
- 6:35Speaker 3: mind they want to go spend some money, get some
- 6:38Speaker 3: free agents. Obviously draft well, but I like the analogy
- 6:42Speaker 3: that Rabel had with Neman Marcus and north.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Strom's spoke to my soul friend.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, if I wanted, I just buy it.
- 6:49Speaker 6: You know that, and every girl with a retail edision.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, So like, is that kind of a subtle mess
- 6:56Speaker 3: hint to Robert and Jonathan Kraft, like, you know, we
- 6:58Speaker 3: want to we want to spend some money this offseason.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know, you know.
- 7:04Speaker 6: I think it's like I think they do a really
- 7:07Speaker 6: good job of understanding. I don't know, like after last year,
- 7:11Speaker 6: I think the front office in Rabel, the way they
- 7:13Speaker 6: work together, like they've already earned my trust.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Maybe that's a little too quick, but I kind of.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Took it as Rabel saying, look like, if there's something
- 7:20Speaker 6: that I want and I see it when I'm perusing
- 7:22Speaker 6: the store, like we're gonna get it, We're gonna.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Spend money on it. But you don't always necessarily have
- 7:27Speaker 2: a great shopping day, right.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Like, Well, the only difference is when you got a
- 7:30Speaker 3: Nordstrom and you want something, there's more than one of them.
- 7:34Speaker 3: So here, if you want a player, there's a lot
- 7:37Speaker 3: of other teams competing for that one thing. So it's
- 7:40Speaker 3: a little bit different than just picking something off the
- 7:43Speaker 3: shelf and Nordstroms. So yeah, So so that kind of
- 7:49Speaker 3: led into a discussion about Diggs because you know the
- 7:53Speaker 3: big contract. I think, well, there's a few big contracts
- 7:56Speaker 3: that they have to look at, but you know one
- 7:58Speaker 3: of them is Gonzales and they talked about that as well.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But then there's Digs and he's up for some big
- 8:05Speaker 3: money this next season. I think it's like twenty something
- 8:09Speaker 3: odd a million guaranteed. Yeah, so I think they're gonna
- 8:13Speaker 3: probably want to rework that if they want to keep them.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I feel like they have the leverage too with it.
- 8:18Speaker 3: They do it, but like a guy like him, are
- 8:20Speaker 3: you gonna sit for that? I don't know.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It's also does he want to rework out? Like I
- 8:24Speaker 1: don't know what the guaranteed money is and stuff. But
- 8:27Speaker 1: he's got a look at himself too. So I mean
- 8:29Speaker 1: they liked him. I think he liked it here. It
- 8:33Speaker 1: was a good match. He was a great leader, a
- 8:35Speaker 1: great teammate. Unexpected too.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but now you look at Gonzales and you'd like
- 8:42Speaker 3: to extend him now because the longer you wait, the
- 8:45Speaker 3: higher that price is going to go. His agent is
- 8:48Speaker 3: the same as.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Drake May's, I hear, I'll start thinking about him too.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Right, So that's where Elliott Wolf and the Crafts and
- 8:59Speaker 3: and vrabel earned their money, because you know, you got
- 9:02Speaker 3: to figure this all out. It's not just x's and
- 9:04Speaker 3: o's in football.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And then, yeah, you hate like talking about players ageent
- 9:08Speaker 1: like Diggs, wh he's gonna be thirty two, thirty three,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and it's a lot of money for a thirty three
- 9:11Speaker 1: year old.
- 9:12Speaker 6: So I wonder if it's hard to imagine with like
- 9:16Speaker 6: what you hear about his personality, but maybe he does
- 9:19Speaker 6: have some loyalty hear, because we brought him in when
- 9:22Speaker 6: he was kind of like a broken commodity, stood by him.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Now he has all this stuff off the field going on,
- 9:27Speaker 6: and we're still d like standing by him and supporting him.
- 9:31Speaker 6: And just it seemed like he grew a lot in
- 9:33Speaker 6: this locker room. It seemed like he really liked to
- 9:35Speaker 6: be here. It seemed like he valued the camaraderie. So
- 9:38Speaker 6: maybe he does. He is willing to.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Like restructure he so much.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I mean, I wish that was so hard to.
- 9:45Speaker 6: Put myself in his situation because I don't know, it's
- 9:48Speaker 6: just he already has unimaginable money and so much going
- 9:51Speaker 6: on off the field too, with money and income, and
- 9:54Speaker 6: it's just like he's never going to be poor.
- 9:57Speaker 3: It's like, I know, but guys like him that switch
- 10:00Speaker 3: flips like that, I agree with everything you.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Said, like you're not wrong.
- 10:05Speaker 3: He seems to love it here blah competitive but well maybe,
- 10:11Speaker 3: but the moment you tell him we're not going to
- 10:14Speaker 3: pay you that if you want to stay, A lot
- 10:18Speaker 3: of these guys that switch flips and all of a sudden,
- 10:21Speaker 3: now you're my enemy. Now, oh, now you don't respect me.
- 10:27Speaker 3: And you know, the perfect example we had it here
- 10:29Speaker 3: before Randy Moss. Randy Moss was a broken commodity. They
- 10:33Speaker 3: were literally calling him a dog in Oakland. They called
- 10:37Speaker 3: him a dog in print, and we traded him on
- 10:40Speaker 3: the second day of the draft for a fourth round pick.
- 10:43Speaker 3: So can you imagine that, getting Randy Moss for a
- 10:45Speaker 3: fourth round pick because no one else, you know, and
- 10:48Speaker 3: he came in here and from the get go he
- 10:51Speaker 3: was great. And then two years later he's complaining, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 3: and he wanted his money. And I don't blame them.
- 11:01Speaker 3: These guys, they have a limited shelf life. You know,
- 11:04Speaker 3: if you play to thirty, you're lucky. If you played
- 11:07Speaker 3: a thirty three. It's amazing as a wide receiver, and
- 11:10Speaker 3: they know it, and their agent knows it, and so
- 11:12Speaker 3: why should they take a dime less than what they
- 11:15Speaker 3: think there they should get.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You talk about Randy and then we traded him was
- 11:20Speaker 1: forty nine ers, right, Yeah, I mean that was the
- 11:22Speaker 1: beginning of the end, right, So it was the right choices.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's a kind of an unspoken well,
- 11:27Speaker 3: it's kind of a spoken rule with a lot of gms,
- 11:30Speaker 3: is you want to be a year too early than
- 11:32Speaker 3: a year too late with these.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Players, always the belcheck way.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's it's tough. It's tough when you have
- 11:39Speaker 3: to have that sit down with a player and say, hey,
- 11:41Speaker 3: we love you, we want you to stay, but we're
- 11:44Speaker 3: not going to pay you what you thought you were
- 11:46Speaker 3: going to get. So that's going to be a difficult
- 11:48Speaker 3: if that's their strategy. I don't know, we don't know
- 11:52Speaker 3: that's a strategy. No one said. Rabel didn't say that,
- 11:55Speaker 3: Wolf didn't say that. But they said they have to.
- 11:57Speaker 3: You know, look at that.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Well, there's so much out of their control of like
- 12:00Speaker 6: the football side of things. Still, you know, for him,
- 12:03Speaker 6: I guess I'm Barmore. It's really interesting to think that,
- 12:05Speaker 6: like there is a chance that both of those guys
- 12:08Speaker 6: maybe aren't on the team next year because of stuff
- 12:10Speaker 6: totally out of the football operations control.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't know if it happened before or
- 12:14Speaker 3: after Tuesday show, but of course Antonio Gibson has been released, yep,
- 12:18Speaker 3: so he's out there. You know, sometimes you do that
- 12:20Speaker 3: with a free agent, with a guy, you release him
- 12:23Speaker 3: early just to give him a little head start on
- 12:25Speaker 3: the free agent market. You know. I've got the the dates,
- 12:31Speaker 3: so that legal tampering period that opens on Monday, March ninth,
- 12:38Speaker 3: so they can tamper and kind of start laying the
- 12:42Speaker 3: groundwork for contracts on Monday March ninth, But the official
- 12:46Speaker 3: free agency opens March eleventh at four pm.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And that's also the new league year, right.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so that's four pm Wednesday, March eleventh when
- 12:56Speaker 3: it officially opens up and you can actually ratify these
- 13:00Speaker 3: deals that you started to talk about on the ninth. Yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 3: so we'll see what happens. You know, are the Patriots
- 13:07Speaker 3: going to be big spenders, you know, day one people,
- 13:12Speaker 3: or are they gonna wait because I don't you know,
- 13:13Speaker 3: Diggs wasn't a Day one guy.
- 13:15Speaker 8: He was like.
- 13:17Speaker 3: He was like he was out there. So it's not
- 13:21Speaker 3: to say that you can't get good players, uh you
- 13:23Speaker 3: know later on in free agency, but you know, the
- 13:27Speaker 3: the bigger names are gonna go early.
- 13:31Speaker 1: It's it's funny and not that the Patriots are going
- 13:33Speaker 1: to do this, but the noise arout Malik Willis is
- 13:36Speaker 1: I find that a bit interesting. He's gonna be the
- 13:38Speaker 1: hot commodity free agent this year, so I mean.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see, you know, and you know, I've got
- 13:45Speaker 3: rankings here. This is come nfl Het, George Pickens, Jalen Phillips, Tyler,
- 13:51Speaker 3: Linda Baum, the Center, Alec Pierce that we've talked about,
- 13:56Speaker 3: you know, and then of course Trey Hendrickson. I like
- 13:59Speaker 3: Devin Lloyd.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I talked about him.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'd love to take a run at him. I wanted
- 14:03Speaker 3: him out of the draft. That was the year we
- 14:05Speaker 3: drafted Cole Strange. Could have had Devin Lloyd. Never forget,
- 14:13Speaker 3: and you know in the newsletter I also mentioned o'daffe
- 14:17Speaker 3: always as a possible guy. You know, Edge Rusher. So
- 14:23Speaker 3: there's you know who wrote this. This was Greg Rosenthal,
- 14:27Speaker 3: who we spoke to at the at the Super Bowl,
- 14:31Speaker 3: he said, in his thirteen years of doing this, I'll
- 14:34Speaker 3: read it exactly. While this year's list of top one,
- 14:37Speaker 3: one hundred and one free agents doesn't post great star
- 14:40Speaker 3: power at the top, it's incredibly deep. In the thirteen
- 14:43Speaker 3: years I've been performing this exercise, there has never been
- 14:47Speaker 3: a stronger group of players. So good. Yeah, he said,
- 14:54Speaker 3: In short, if your team can't improve its roster and
- 14:56Speaker 3: free agency, don't blame me, blame them. So it's it's
- 15:00Speaker 3: a deep free agent class, you know.
- 15:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm excited for it, more definitely, more excited than
- 15:06Speaker 6: I've ever been for a draft, just based on how
- 15:08Speaker 6: it went last year and how many contributors they got.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I thought it was interesting.
- 15:11Speaker 6: I think Elliott it was when Elliott was just with
- 15:13Speaker 6: Evan a couple of days ago, but he kind of
- 15:16Speaker 6: talked about how the draft was last year was such
- 15:19Speaker 6: a perfect storm of the coaches and all the scouts
- 15:22Speaker 6: being on the same page unanimously with a lot of
- 15:25Speaker 6: the players who just happened to kind of be there
- 15:27Speaker 6: when they were ready to draft. And then not only that,
- 15:30Speaker 6: but they panned out on the field and Craig Woodson
- 15:32Speaker 6: was obviously a fourth rounder and the guy that they
- 15:35Speaker 6: were really highlighting and talking about. But he said that
- 15:37Speaker 6: was the case for a number of players, and it
- 15:39Speaker 6: just goes back to like this whole season was just
- 15:42Speaker 6: things working out for us, and apparently it went all
- 15:44Speaker 6: the way back to the draft.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, you know, in one of the things on
- 15:47Speaker 3: Paul shows, they were kind of I don't know if
- 15:50Speaker 3: they call it criticizing, but kind of questioning Mike Vrabel
- 15:53Speaker 3: and what he said about drafting wide receivers that you know,
- 15:56Speaker 3: you draft them and you know you have to develop them.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And they were saying, well, you know, the real true
- 16:03Speaker 3: you know, superstar like the justin Jeffersons Mart, they don't
- 16:06Speaker 3: need to be developed. They come out of the womb
- 16:08Speaker 3: as good wide receivers. But I think what Rabel was
- 16:11Speaker 3: also talking about is even those guys have to be
- 16:14Speaker 3: developed within your system. So I think the Rabel's also
- 16:18Speaker 3: talking about the four months that you have them even
- 16:20Speaker 3: before the season starts. Yeah, you know, you know, showing
- 16:23Speaker 3: them how your playbook works, how your quarterback works, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 3: how you like your route run. You know, So there
- 16:29Speaker 3: is even with guys like that, there's development needed within
- 16:34Speaker 3: your system. And I think he's also talking about that.
- 16:37Speaker 6: And within the NFL in general, right, playing against those defenses,
- 16:40Speaker 6: it's not college anymore.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Right, Right, So even if you know you have you're
- 16:44Speaker 3: lucky enough to get at Justin Jefferson, there's still that
- 16:47Speaker 3: time you need with him on your team to get
- 16:51Speaker 3: him ready to play ball in the NFL. But you know,
- 16:55Speaker 3: some guys do take a couple more years to pan out.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Alec Pierce is a good example, you know. But you know,
- 17:03Speaker 3: like at Jamar Chase, you know right away he starts
- 17:05Speaker 3: making an impact, but you have to have if if
- 17:08Speaker 3: he was on a team that had bad coaching or whatever,
- 17:11Speaker 3: maybe it wouldn't be that. So you still have to
- 17:14Speaker 3: even with the great ones, you have to get him
- 17:17Speaker 3: acclimated to your team, you know, in the NFL. So
- 17:21Speaker 3: I think I think that's what he was talking about.
- 17:24Speaker 6: Yeah, his comments on Kyle Williams are pretty interesting to me,
- 17:27Speaker 6: Like he was really glowing about him and just the
- 17:31Speaker 6: strides he saw and it just goes to show like
- 17:34Speaker 6: I don't know, I think we watched Kyle Williams a lot,
- 17:36Speaker 6: and he had a lot of X plays and those
- 17:38Speaker 6: really exciting moments, but a lot of times it kind
- 17:40Speaker 6: of looked like they weren't necessarily on the same page.
- 17:42Speaker 6: But then to hear Vraebel just so glowing about him,
- 17:45Speaker 6: It's like there's a lot of stuff that they see
- 17:47Speaker 6: from these guys in practice and in the minutia of
- 17:50Speaker 6: it all that we don't. So if they're excited about him,
- 17:53Speaker 6: I'm excited about h Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 3: There's a couple of things with Kyle Williams. I mean,
- 17:58Speaker 3: he only had like twenty somethings to and he only
- 18:01Speaker 3: had ten catches, So that tells you a few things.
- 18:04Speaker 3: One either he didn't have the trust of Drake May
- 18:08Speaker 3: and Josh McDaniels, or he wasn't running the right route
- 18:13Speaker 3: or getting open fast enough so that when you know,
- 18:18Speaker 3: Drake May was dropping back, he didn't see him as
- 18:21Speaker 3: a target or a combination of all those things. Because
- 18:25Speaker 3: I do think he had a slow start, but as
- 18:28Speaker 3: we saw, he's got some skills.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean there was there was a couple of
- 18:31Speaker 1: times you'd see the all twenty two footage and he
- 18:34Speaker 1: had the cornerback beat it. Drake was getting hit like
- 18:36Speaker 1: the potentials there. Yeah, definitely is a big play for it.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Yeah, So the question with him is does it is
- 18:42Speaker 3: he the type of receiver that just takes longer to
- 18:44Speaker 3: open up. And if that's the case, then Drake's going
- 18:48Speaker 3: to just need more time if Kyle Williams is going
- 18:51Speaker 3: to be one of your weapons. So what I'd like
- 18:54Speaker 3: to see is can we get Kyle Williams to a
- 18:56Speaker 3: place where he gets open quicker? Yeah, because he's got
- 19:02Speaker 3: elite speed. We saw that, and I don't think his
- 19:05Speaker 3: hands are that bad.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, how are you going to try to
- 19:09Speaker 1: turn him into a high volume receiver, like, you know,
- 19:11Speaker 1: you don't want him to be a three catch a game,
- 19:14Speaker 1: five catches a game.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Right right right.
- 19:16Speaker 6: One thing that stood out to me but Verybell said
- 19:18Speaker 6: about him was his ability to kind of change, like
- 19:20Speaker 6: adjust on the fly when he's already deep into a route.
- 19:23Speaker 6: So maybe it's also just chemistry with him and Drake
- 19:26Speaker 6: and being on the same page of where he's going
- 19:28Speaker 6: to be when Kyle is being covered a certain way
- 19:31Speaker 6: or whatever the reason is that he's pivoting.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Well, well, you know, the first thing I think of
- 19:36Speaker 3: when you say adjusting deep into the route is time.
- 19:39Speaker 3: So great, he can adjust deep into the route, But
- 19:43Speaker 3: what's happening with Drake during that time, you know, does
- 19:46Speaker 3: he have even time to see that adjustment? And that's
- 19:48Speaker 3: the you know, it's.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Like a golf swing. Theer's so many things you got
- 19:51Speaker 6: to at once.
- 19:52Speaker 3: It's like the domino effect. Okay, now we got to
- 19:56Speaker 3: talk about Drake's protection in the offensive line, But to
- 20:00Speaker 3: just stick to receivers a little bit and going back
- 20:02Speaker 3: to what we were talking about Diggs. If he does stay,
- 20:06Speaker 3: I still think that you need a number one receiver.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I agree, But then I think that goes back and
- 20:13Speaker 1: affects Kyle William because Kyle is kind of in that
- 20:15Speaker 1: rotation of pop Kyle and let's say Holland's So then
- 20:18Speaker 1: if you if you get to a J. Brown, that's
- 20:20Speaker 1: just pushing everybody down.
- 20:21Speaker 2: That's Kyle Stay at the same place and someone else
- 20:24Speaker 2: is gone.
- 20:24Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Really realistic too.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But what what are your thoughts on the free agent
- 20:30Speaker 1: or a trade receiver? Like I would rather do that
- 20:33Speaker 1: than try to draft somebody. It's been I mean, Kyle
- 20:36Speaker 1: is the first feels like the first receiver in a
- 20:37Speaker 1: while boo to where it's like, oh, we got something here, But.
- 20:40Speaker 3: No, I think I think, you know, drafting at the
- 20:43Speaker 3: end of every round, I think that. I don't. I'm
- 20:48Speaker 3: not planning on getting an answer to wide receiver in
- 20:51Speaker 3: the draft this.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Year, especially with how deep tight end is.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Maybe a development guy later in the draft, maybe definitely
- 20:57Speaker 3: not an impact guy right away.
- 20:58Speaker 1: But maybe through trade. Oh yeah, yeah, like I think,
- 21:01Speaker 1: like I think, bet on yourself. Your first round pick
- 21:04Speaker 1: this year is pretty much a second. Well, if you're
- 21:06Speaker 1: good again next year, that first round pick might be
- 21:08Speaker 1: another you know, air quote second. So if you get
- 21:11Speaker 1: a A J. Brown boom, you're great, let's go.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, I I think that's the way to
- 21:15Speaker 3: go is to try to pick up a veteran. I
- 21:17Speaker 3: agree somehow, whether it's trade or through free agency, I
- 21:21Speaker 3: don't know all the I mean, George Pickens is available,
- 21:24Speaker 3: but he's going to it's gonna be a big price.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Are they tagging him?
- 21:28Speaker 1: I don't know if it's if he's been tagged, but
- 21:31Speaker 1: speculating Mike Evans. But if he's tag you're gonna need
- 21:34Speaker 1: to You're gonna need to trade and then pay him.
- 21:36Speaker 1: So it's kind of a double wind.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'd rather get a pure free agent.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, he's I listened. I wanted George Pickens when he
- 21:43Speaker 1: was first available. But he's a known head case, which
- 21:46Speaker 1: is if there's a coach that can knock that out
- 21:49Speaker 1: of somebody.
- 21:50Speaker 3: But so, but here's what I would do. So if
- 21:54Speaker 3: if my plan is to get someone who is above
- 21:59Speaker 3: uh digs on the depth chart, then I and I
- 22:02Speaker 3: can get them. I know I can get them. I
- 22:04Speaker 3: sit down with Diggs and say, listen, you're gonna be
- 22:07Speaker 3: a volume guy. You're gonna be number two. Last year,
- 22:11Speaker 3: everybody clamped down on you, especially in the playoffs. You
- 22:14Speaker 3: were you were the biggest target. Everyone knew that. This
- 22:18Speaker 3: year that's not gonna happen. You're gonna be more free,
- 22:21Speaker 3: So your volume is gonna go up. So we're gonna
- 22:24Speaker 3: cut your pay, but we're gonna add incentives that we
- 22:28Speaker 3: think you're probably gonna hit and you can make a
- 22:33Speaker 3: lot of that money back. Yeah, I try to. If
- 22:36Speaker 3: I think I'm going to get that wr one, I
- 22:39Speaker 3: try to talk him into that.
- 22:41Speaker 6: And that's I think it's not like totally unreasonable, despite
- 22:44Speaker 6: the typical persona of receivers, because I think he was
- 22:47Speaker 6: really unselfish this year already. I think he's probably gonna
- 22:51Speaker 6: be really realistic about where he is in his career
- 22:53Speaker 6: and again, like I just hope the loyalty comes in
- 22:57Speaker 6: to play too.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Oh, I always made a goodoint. You're talking about incentives.
- 22:59Speaker 1: He hit a good chunk of the the number one.
- 23:02Speaker 6: And apparently he can come really close like mac Collins
- 23:05Speaker 6: did and they're still going to reward him and they're
- 23:07Speaker 6: doing good business. So it's like moves like that. Just yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 6: I love the direction for Abel's taking this in, you know.
- 23:13Speaker 9: So.
- 23:15Speaker 3: You know, whether it's A J. Brown or whoever, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 3: I think that Diggs has to understand that he's gonna
- 23:23Speaker 3: make me better. You know, he's gonna help me because yeah,
- 23:27Speaker 3: he was getting double teamed and bracketed and you know,
- 23:30Speaker 3: a safety coming down and you know, hitting him up. So, uh,
- 23:34Speaker 3: if you have that threat like a like an A J. Brown,
- 23:39Speaker 3: it's got to help Diggs and it's gonna help everybody
- 23:42Speaker 3: and then it helps the rest of the wide receivers too.
- 23:44Speaker 1: So who are your realistic options? Not through or through
- 23:47Speaker 1: free agency?
- 23:48Speaker 8: Trade?
- 23:48Speaker 1: Is it Pickens or I have to look it up.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Who's available? I think it's Pickens, Mike Evans, A J.
- 23:56Speaker 6: Brown through trade, Thomas Junior.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Yeah, trade, maybe shooting for the moon here Justin Jefferson.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah, so okay, so Pickens obviously Alec Pierce.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Like that doesn't Alec Pierce doesn't move the needle.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Doesn't move the needle. Mike Evans, you mentioned which now
- 24:15Speaker 3: but he's old now, Deebos Yeah, he's thirty three. Now,
- 24:18Speaker 3: Deebo Samuel is available. And I used to love me
- 24:20Speaker 3: some Deebo Samuel.
- 24:22Speaker 2: He was hanging on.
- 24:23Speaker 3: He was my favorite player in the NFL, but was
- 24:26Speaker 3: our quarterback. Yeah, he has lost two steps maybe three. Yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 3: he was here in training camp and I was like,
- 24:32Speaker 3: that's Deebo Samuel.
- 24:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I still think he's a smart, hard nosed football player
- 24:39Speaker 3: and that's what I loved about him. But he's he's
- 24:41Speaker 3: lost some speed. So he's only thirty. So Dobbs is
- 24:48Speaker 3: available from the Packers. He's only twenty six.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I like him too, but that he's kind of
- 24:53Speaker 1: similar to Alec Pierce to me, like, I don't think.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I don't think he elevates your team that much.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Juwan Jennings. So now we're going down one. Dale Robinson
- 25:00Speaker 3: in Rashid Shahid. Nobody here on this panel was excited
- 25:04Speaker 3: about him. Keenan Allen used to be good. But now
- 25:08Speaker 3: he's thirty four. Marquis Brown from the Chiefs, he's twenty nine.
- 25:13Speaker 3: He's a deep threat.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Did you have the trade and you have to be
- 25:17Speaker 1: willing to give up the picks?
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yeah? So, I mean we've gone down the DeAndre Hopkins route.
- 25:22Speaker 8: Uh.
- 25:23Speaker 1: We we even had him in the locker room.
- 25:25Speaker 3: We can bring we can bring back Taekwon Thornton. He's available.
- 25:28Speaker 2: He was very pumped for us.
- 25:29Speaker 6: We saw him Kristin and I saw him on radio road.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Really really he was talking to us and just like
- 25:36Speaker 6: really pumped for us. Nice, so good kid.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not in terms of that high level.
- 25:41Speaker 6: It's yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 3: And listen, when you've got Jamar Chase, so you've got
- 25:45Speaker 3: Jeff Justin. Jeff, you don't let them go. You don't
- 25:47Speaker 3: let them get the free agent.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Said, those guys don't get to free agent.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Right, you don't extend those elite guys. That's what I mean.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I mean, you don't let those elite guys get to
- 25:58Speaker 3: free agents.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Obviously a j.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Brown I think is the biggest game changer.
- 26:04Speaker 6: But like my thing is what was his biggest issue
- 26:08Speaker 6: in Philly that he's just trying to force himself out
- 26:11Speaker 6: coming off of a Super Bowl like that is just
- 26:13Speaker 6: such a red flag to me. I don't know, And
- 26:16Speaker 6: like to friend's point saying like, now he's going to
- 26:18Speaker 6: come in and share the spotlight with Digs, he couldn't
- 26:21Speaker 6: do it with Saquon.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:22Speaker 3: It's just and people think that that's a marriage that
- 26:24Speaker 3: can't work. Again, I think if it's explained in such
- 26:28Speaker 3: a way that you know, you show Digs what happened,
- 26:32Speaker 3: my worry.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Is less Digs and more Aj Brown.
- 26:34Speaker 6: Well true, how unselfish our receivers are in this and
- 26:38Speaker 6: Rabel system and how they were this year.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I imagine it's not gonna.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Be But you explained the plan to Digs. You say, listen,
- 26:45Speaker 3: we're gonna we need to establish aj as the number one,
- 26:49Speaker 3: as the guy that the other team needs to stop.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Once we do that, that's gonna help your production, HM,
- 26:55Speaker 3: because the double team's gonna go to him, and Drake
- 26:59Speaker 3: May's going to be a year better. He's gonna we're
- 27:02Speaker 3: gonna improve the offensive line. That's only gonna make your
- 27:05Speaker 3: numbers as good as they were last year better towards
- 27:11Speaker 3: the end of the season when we need it more.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Because let's face it. That's what happened at the end
- 27:16Speaker 3: of the season. You know, the team's strategy was shut
- 27:19Speaker 3: down digs and they become a little bit easier to defend.
- 27:24Speaker 3: We're back to twenty twenty five when the offense was
- 27:28Speaker 3: when the offense was easy to defend, and it became
- 27:31Speaker 3: that way because teams would shut down digs.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, no, Alex, you're talking about head cases.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I think Pickens is way more of a head case.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I think Aj Brown, I think his stuff's internal in Philly,
- 27:42Speaker 1: and I think once he leaves, it'll be complete new player.
- 27:45Speaker 1: That's me personal. Yeah, sometimes you just need to change
- 27:49Speaker 1: of change of scenery. Yeah, but you know.
- 27:51Speaker 3: He's gonna make a lot of money pickings. He'll probably
- 27:55Speaker 3: get in that thirty million dollars plus range.
- 27:58Speaker 6: Hopefully it doesn't sitation so whoever it takes him on.
- 28:02Speaker 3: But we all know the love that AJ Brown and
- 28:04Speaker 3: Mike Frable have, you know, it's they seem to really
- 28:08Speaker 3: love each other. So whatever problems that AJ Brown had
- 28:12Speaker 3: with Sirianni and the Eagles, at least for a year,
- 28:16Speaker 3: you'll have a honeymoon period.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Was laid it on Thick too.
- 28:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm proud of him as a father like he
- 28:22Speaker 6: really was.
- 28:23Speaker 3: So you know, if I think I'm gonna, you know,
- 28:28Speaker 3: give up an asset and pay AJ Brown, I got
- 28:31Speaker 3: to have that talk with Diggs. And if the talk
- 28:34Speaker 3: doesn't go well, then I got to let Diggs go
- 28:37Speaker 3: and then you know, kind of figure out how I
- 28:39Speaker 3: make up for that. Now, let's just say that it
- 28:43Speaker 3: doesn't work out with Diggs, but you do have AJ
- 28:46Speaker 3: Brown who becomes your number two? Okay, And do you
- 28:53Speaker 3: think that he's the kind of guy that can compliment
- 28:56Speaker 3: AJ Brown? You know, because Diggs is a down fore guy, right, Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I think he can. But I think that that's a
- 29:04Speaker 1: situation where Diggs goes than a Romeo Dobbs or an
- 29:08Speaker 1: Alec Pierce becomes a bit more interesting to me, and
- 29:11Speaker 1: then that frees up Booty And yeah, I don't know,
- 29:14Speaker 1: everything changes once you get the star players.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's going to be interesting. It's it's going
- 29:18Speaker 3: to be interesting. And then, of course, you know we
- 29:20Speaker 3: talked about all this doesn't matter if the offensive line
- 29:23Speaker 3: can't protect true, so they have to pay attention to
- 29:27Speaker 3: the offensive line. What are they going to do with Wilson?
- 29:31Speaker 3: You know, Uh, Moses looks like he's going to be back,
- 29:34Speaker 3: but you know he's I think we got really lucky
- 29:37Speaker 3: that he was fairly healthy all season, and you know,
- 29:41Speaker 3: is that going to happen again. I think you need
- 29:43Speaker 3: a contingency plan at right tackle or will be. Yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 3: I think you need I think you need a plan
- 29:48Speaker 3: B at right tackle. You better have that ready.
- 29:52Speaker 2: I mean always should be just building the depth on
- 29:54Speaker 2: the O line.
- 29:55Speaker 3: But yep, all right, So that's those are some of
- 29:59Speaker 3: the topics that we want to talk about. Any other
- 30:04Speaker 3: NFL stuff going on that we need to we need
- 30:06Speaker 3: to talk about. No, nothing crazy, nobody acting foolish around
- 30:10Speaker 3: the league of the Jets.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Jets just make a trade.
- 30:15Speaker 6: I thought the Viking situation is really interesting in some
- 30:17Speaker 6: of their comments on JJ McCarthy and how like they're
- 30:21Speaker 6: looking to possibly improve the quarterback position, and it's just
- 30:24Speaker 6: so funny to see how they you move on from
- 30:27Speaker 6: Sam Donald and how it all played out for that.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's crazy to think about how different the
- 30:31Speaker 1: league would be if Donald won that last playoff game,
- 30:35Speaker 1: where like the Vik's probably could have got three picks
- 30:37Speaker 1: for him last year realistically, so all the league would
- 30:41Speaker 1: be different.
- 30:42Speaker 3: So Anthony Richardson wants a trade. Do you think any
- 30:44Speaker 3: team will try to reclaim him as a reclamation project
- 30:48Speaker 3: and say, you know, the the athleticism that they saw,
- 30:51Speaker 3: we see and we can make him into a quarterback.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It's I think Sam Donald might have done irreversible damage
- 30:56Speaker 1: to the NFL.
- 30:57Speaker 2: It wasn't even Sam Donald. I think it was go
- 30:59Speaker 2: back to Baker.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, build that.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Seattle form Seattle.
- 31:05Speaker 1: That being said Anthony Richardson, probably one of the most
- 31:08Speaker 1: talented arms in the league. He's made. He made one
- 31:10Speaker 1: of the greatest throws, like in his rookie debut, Like
- 31:13Speaker 1: it's worth it. If you're a team that's struggling and
- 31:14Speaker 1: you can get him for a Day two pick, maybe
- 31:17Speaker 1: a Day three pick, why not. What do you have
- 31:18Speaker 1: to lose?
- 31:19Speaker 6: I think the Patriots were in such a good position
- 31:21Speaker 6: to be able to get a guy like Drake May.
- 31:23Speaker 6: But if they weren't, that's the route I would like
- 31:25Speaker 6: to see them take, Like go after a vet who
- 31:28Speaker 6: maybe like didn't have a great situation and just see
- 31:31Speaker 6: what happens.
- 31:32Speaker 3: So what do you think the deal is with Malik Willis?
- 31:35Speaker 1: I have no idea. I mean, he was in a
- 31:38Speaker 1: bad situation in Tennessee. He goes to Green Bay and
- 31:41Speaker 1: it's maybe like he has the arm. He's mobile, and
- 31:44Speaker 1: obviously everybody wants a mobile quarterback now. But I'd rather
- 31:47Speaker 1: take mac Jones personally, I thought mac Jones was playing wow, like,
- 31:50Speaker 1: if not for the Patriots, but if it was a
- 31:52Speaker 1: different team. I thought he was in a bad situation
- 31:54Speaker 1: here in the game Snowballs, No the game, the game
- 31:57Speaker 1: he's stepped in for the forty nine ers. He was great,
- 32:00Speaker 1: kept him alive while party was out.
- 32:01Speaker 6: I think I'd rather takes probably saved their season.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Daniel Jones is going to be available, right. I heard
- 32:08Speaker 3: he might get resigned by the He might get resigned.
- 32:11Speaker 3: But has he earned himself some money? I think before
- 32:14Speaker 3: he got injured, but now, I mean, yeah he did.
- 32:17Speaker 3: He did earn himself some money. I'll put it that
- 32:19Speaker 3: I'd pay anybody off. Then Achilles, I mean, was his Yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 2: But Jason Tatum's about to play.
- 32:24Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Achilles aren't what they used to be.
- 32:26Speaker 1: No, yeah, he has, he has earned himself.
- 32:28Speaker 3: What's his success a product of his own ability or
- 32:31Speaker 3: a product of an amazing running game that kind of
- 32:34Speaker 3: helped him?
- 32:34Speaker 1: So both? Yeah, both? But I mean the Giants is
- 32:38Speaker 1: just not the best situation to be put in. I
- 32:40Speaker 1: think similar with Malik Wilson the Titans. So yeah, he
- 32:43Speaker 1: can throw the ball, that's all takes.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's confidence.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's going to be a wild free agent period. Yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 1: quarterbacks always interesting, But any.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Somewhat proven quarterback I think they're just going to get
- 32:54Speaker 6: paid because of it's that's the position and there's a
- 32:58Speaker 6: need I think planing him.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, you know, the stock is rising
- 33:05Speaker 3: on smart, offensive minded coaches. Yeah, because I think we've
- 33:10Speaker 3: seen that if you put a you know, it doesn't
- 33:13Speaker 3: have to be elite, but a capable quarterback in the
- 33:15Speaker 3: hands of a really smart offensive coordinator, splash head coach,
- 33:20Speaker 3: they can succeed in this league. They don't have to
- 33:22Speaker 3: be Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes. You could have success.
- 33:26Speaker 3: And if then you build around that rest of the team,
- 33:30Speaker 3: you know, like the Colts, like before they had that injury,
- 33:33Speaker 3: like they were headed into the.
- 33:34Speaker 6: Playoffs, Pats were trailing them half the season until that injury.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Right, It's interesting just with the draft class this year
- 33:42Speaker 1: for quarterbacks, it's really just been doza and then you
- 33:45Speaker 1: have a really good draft class next year. So maybe
- 33:47Speaker 1: you front load the contract for the free agent vet
- 33:51Speaker 1: and then if it doesn't work, you can get out
- 33:52Speaker 1: and get your rookie the next year.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Yep, all right, eight five five pass five hundred is
- 33:58Speaker 3: the hotline podcast at patriot dot com. Is the email
- 34:01Speaker 3: address we got people already hanging on.
- 34:04Speaker 8: Uh.
- 34:04Speaker 3: It's that time of year where we start planning, we
- 34:07Speaker 3: start building herms in DC. What's up?
- 34:12Speaker 4: Hey, what's going on?
- 34:13Speaker 3: Guys? Hey?
- 34:16Speaker 8: Condolences?
- 34:17Speaker 4: So Will pass away in Paul family real quick.
- 34:20Speaker 11: So I think nowadays the society, I think it's just
- 34:24Speaker 11: this whole microwave society is just starting, like, you know,
- 34:27Speaker 11: bumming a little bit because there's been a lot of
- 34:30Speaker 11: talk about you know.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Will Campbell's la tackle this guys. He's fine, you know
- 34:35Speaker 4: what I mean. He had a it did have a
- 34:37Speaker 4: bad game at a very bad time. Nobody can take
- 34:40Speaker 4: that away from him. But he will get stronger, he
- 34:42Speaker 4: gets better. He's only twenty two years old. But we
- 34:45Speaker 4: just have to, you know, give people Tom to develop.
- 34:49Speaker 4: It gets stronger, you know what I mean.
- 34:52Speaker 3: So I hope you're right, Yeah, yeah, it will be Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 4: He will be okay, Yeah, Will we'll stand but that
- 35:01Speaker 4: you know what I mean, I'm just not get better.
- 35:03Speaker 12: It's just we'll be fine, okay.
- 35:05Speaker 4: And then we also have to be careful.
- 35:07Speaker 11: We have to be careful of wanting to trade digs.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all I'm gonna say.
- 35:12Speaker 3: You know, take it off here do you say careful
- 35:15Speaker 3: of trading trading digs? Trading digs? Okay? Why do we
- 35:18Speaker 3: have to be careful? I don't know, yes, who would trade?
- 35:21Speaker 3: But but going back, going back to Campbell. Something you know,
- 35:25Speaker 3: Alex you were mentioning before the show that Rabel talked
- 35:27Speaker 3: about is you know, we need to get in the
- 35:29Speaker 3: weight room, we need to get stronger. Yeah, you know,
- 35:32Speaker 3: like and he said that in general terms, like we
- 35:35Speaker 3: need to get stronger, but I know in his mind
- 35:37Speaker 3: one of the guys he's probably thinking about is Will Campbell.
- 35:39Speaker 2: And Elliott said as much. He said, I the strength.
- 35:43Speaker 6: And Will Campbell's lower body wasn't the same after the
- 35:46Speaker 6: injury down the stretch.
- 35:47Speaker 2: And it's just.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Without Young the team is too like Rabel's words, not mine,
- 35:52Speaker 6: like this is a grown man's sport, you know, And
- 35:54Speaker 6: I don't think really a grown man until you're at
- 35:56Speaker 6: least twenty five.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You guys sake this much better than I can. But
- 36:00Speaker 2: I just think, like.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I don't know, it's still not a grown man go right.
- 36:05Speaker 6: So it's just getting in the weight room is obviously
- 36:08Speaker 6: so important for those young guys. And Rabel kind of
- 36:12Speaker 6: expanded on this with Evan and Deuce and told.
- 36:14Speaker 2: A really cool story about Tom Brady.
- 36:16Speaker 6: I don't know if you saw it, but he was
- 36:18Speaker 6: Rabel essentially was like everyone gives so much credence to
- 36:22Speaker 6: Tom and his playability and his resistance stretch bands and stuff,
- 36:26Speaker 6: but not enough people really think about the foundation he
- 36:29Speaker 6: set early in his career when he was squatting and
- 36:31Speaker 6: deadlifting with the linebackers and before he really got involved
- 36:35Speaker 6: with Alex, like he was heavy lifting, and really that's
- 36:38Speaker 6: really where he transformed his body as he came into
- 36:41Speaker 6: a grown man and tried to set himself up best
- 36:44Speaker 6: to play the quarterback situation. I just think, like putting
- 36:47Speaker 6: on muscle is so important for a young team. And
- 36:49Speaker 6: cool anecdote about Brady.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I mean, you know, most of these guys that come,
- 36:54Speaker 3: you know, from college, if they're in Division one, in
- 36:57Speaker 3: Big ten or SEC, they probably have really really good
- 37:01Speaker 3: strength and conditioning programs and trainers, you know, because they're
- 37:05Speaker 3: graduates who are like learning, you know, and it's all
- 37:08Speaker 3: the latest stuff and everything like that. But your biology
- 37:14Speaker 3: still yeah, but it's still not your It is your
- 37:17Speaker 3: job in college. I shouldn't say that, But they still
- 37:20Speaker 3: don't get the twenty four hour type of attention that
- 37:23Speaker 3: they get once they become a pro, you know. So
- 37:27Speaker 3: there there is a leap that you can make from
- 37:30Speaker 3: a strength standpoint. Once you get into the league. You
- 37:34Speaker 3: get on the program, the program, Yeah, you get.
- 37:37Speaker 6: On nutritions just so much more dialed into, like yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 6: in terms of bulking and putting on Wii. And it's
- 37:43Speaker 6: just they're all so I don't know, like our our
- 37:47Speaker 6: team does such a great job with nutrition. I think, yeah,
- 37:50Speaker 6: Ted Harper, Ted Harper and Sam like they have plans
- 37:53Speaker 6: for every single player. And a lot of college programs
- 37:56Speaker 6: do too, the big time ones, but not all of them,
- 37:58Speaker 6: you know. And do you get the college athletes to
- 38:01Speaker 6: like buy into the nutrition all the time. I think
- 38:03Speaker 6: once you get to the NFL, these guys kind of
- 38:05Speaker 6: realize like, oh, everyone has this stuff dialed in.
- 38:09Speaker 2: I can't just get buy anymore.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Maybe that KEG party I shouldn't be going to you know,
- 38:15Speaker 3: you know, maybe I shouldn't be eating fast food as
- 38:18Speaker 3: much as I do.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Those aren't hungry anymore. In college. You're getting paid already.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I love the TikTok I saw about this.
- 38:24Speaker 6: It was it was about like the culture shift in
- 38:26Speaker 6: the NBA over the years, and it was like, these
- 38:28Speaker 6: kids are too rich to like care enough like compared.
- 38:31Speaker 3: To Well, that's a whole different discussion and kind of
- 38:33Speaker 3: Elliott touched on it, you know how nil is kind
- 38:36Speaker 3: of changing the draft a little bit.
- 38:38Speaker 6: It even goes before that with club sports and being
- 38:40Speaker 6: able to afford these specialized I don't know, that's our
- 38:43Speaker 6: rabbit hole that.
- 38:44Speaker 3: We Yeah, that's a whole different discussion. But yeah, I mean,
- 38:50Speaker 3: but in terms of, you know, just getting stronger, when
- 38:53Speaker 3: a coach, whoever it is, is that pointed with one
- 38:58Speaker 3: specific thing, because I remember years ago when Belichick said
- 39:02Speaker 3: we need to get faster, you know, on defense speed.
- 39:06Speaker 3: I don't think they ever really achieved that. But when
- 39:10Speaker 3: a coach says that, you know, there's they say it
- 39:13Speaker 3: for a reason. And the fact that he was like,
- 39:16Speaker 3: we just we need to get stronger, I think he
- 39:20Speaker 3: saw too many examples last year, particularly in the playoffs,
- 39:23Speaker 3: where maybe guys were getting pushed around, you know. And
- 39:27Speaker 3: so that's great Patriots fans. Let me tell you something.
- 39:34Speaker 3: You can feel real good that we are in good
- 39:36Speaker 3: hands when it comes to the head coach and this,
- 39:38Speaker 3: he's a smart guy. He's smart and ball. He loves ball,
- 39:43Speaker 3: he knows ball, can relate to the players, can relate
- 39:46Speaker 3: to the players. He's one at the highest level. He's
- 39:49Speaker 3: played multiple positions and every time he did it, he
- 39:51Speaker 3: did it well. Ten catches, ten touchdowns. Who does that
- 39:55Speaker 3: as a as a defensive end. So we are in
- 40:01Speaker 3: good hands. So that's one thing that you can count on,
- 40:05Speaker 3: Patriot's Nation. Uh, and sleep easy.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I mean, because you had two rookies on the left
- 40:11Speaker 1: side of the line, which was shambles last year. Then
- 40:13Speaker 1: they both get hurt I'm pretty sure the same game,
- 40:16Speaker 1: like it was gonna bite them in the butt. Eventually.
- 40:17Speaker 1: It sucks it happened in the Super Bowl, but the
- 40:20Speaker 1: fact that we made it there, like, yeah, I think
- 40:22Speaker 1: Will was a bit more hurt than we thought.
- 40:23Speaker 6: And maybe, you know, Will also takes so much of
- 40:26Speaker 6: the heat compared to Wilson. And of course, yeah, Tuesday
- 40:30Speaker 6: it's about where he was drafted, but it wasn't all
- 40:33Speaker 6: on him. And obviously two rookies on the left side
- 40:35Speaker 6: are going to get attacked in the Super Bowl by
- 40:38Speaker 6: a defensive front that is like bone fight veterans that
- 40:41Speaker 6: have been here a long time and just yeah, the.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Only thing about and I'm I'm in Will Campbell, Campy,
- 40:52Speaker 3: But the fact is he didn't face the gauntlet of
- 40:58Speaker 3: past rushers in the regular season like he did in
- 41:02Speaker 3: the playoffs, and so did he get exposed a little bit?
- 41:06Speaker 3: Maybe maybe now you have to factor in the m
- 41:10Speaker 3: c L. So we'll see. But you know, he does
- 41:15Speaker 3: need to get stronger, and I you know, you saw
- 41:18Speaker 3: hints of that even earlier in the season. But for
- 41:20Speaker 3: the most part, he was fine during the regular season,
- 41:23Speaker 3: but I don't the quality certainly ramped up in his opponents, uh,
- 41:29Speaker 3: you know, during the playoffs. So so we'll see. But
- 41:31Speaker 3: I am team Campbell. I I want this guy to
- 41:33Speaker 3: be our left tackle for a decade with you on that.
- 41:39Speaker 3: You know, I forget who was saying. Evan was talking
- 41:44Speaker 3: with Dane Dean Brugler. Dane Brugler, and by the way,
- 41:49Speaker 3: he's unbelievable. What an Encyclopedia to talk about it was crazy.
- 41:58Speaker 3: But anyway, you know, Evan mentioned, you know that, you
- 42:05Speaker 3: know we're going to stick with Campbell as the left tackle,
- 42:08Speaker 3: and Brugle just threwout, well they should, Yeah, And I
- 42:11Speaker 3: was hoping Evan would kind of follow up on that,
- 42:13Speaker 3: why do you think they should? But he just kind
- 42:17Speaker 3: of left it out there. Jerry Madelon wouldn't have liked that,
- 42:20Speaker 3: but yeah, so Dame Brugler said, you know, the Patriots
- 42:25Speaker 3: should stick with him at left tackle. So that that
- 42:28Speaker 3: makes me feel a little bit.
- 42:29Speaker 1: No, I think it's a bit crazy for people after
- 42:31Speaker 1: the first year when your rookie helped, like he did
- 42:33Speaker 1: help get you guys a Super Bowl, Now you're like,
- 42:35Speaker 1: move him to the left guard.
- 42:36Speaker 3: I know. But but the numbers, the sack numbers, I agree,
- 42:40Speaker 3: but they were historic and historically bad. H So you know,
- 42:45Speaker 3: we have to be level headed about it. You know,
- 42:48Speaker 3: we can't just be yahoos. We have to say that
- 42:52Speaker 3: area needs improvement, you know, it needs.
- 42:55Speaker 1: I just think it's a bit harsh after year one
- 42:57Speaker 1: to be like, oh, this is all you.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Don't give up on the player.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Absolutely, I think that's part of like you could quote
- 43:02Speaker 1: like maybe he could have been he could have been benched.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Maybe he should have been benched in that game. I
- 43:06Speaker 1: think low when he stepped in and showed he's serviceable,
- 43:09Speaker 1: But like what does that do to Will?
- 43:10Speaker 2: But what if Will Campbell's still is playing?
- 43:12Speaker 6: And Evans made this point and I love it, but
- 43:15Speaker 6: Ben Brown, a bigger body is next to him, and
- 43:18Speaker 6: you know, a veteran. So I just I that's my
- 43:22Speaker 6: like butterfly fact, like, oh what could have been if
- 43:25Speaker 6: they You don't want to do Smariel I keeper playing
- 43:28Speaker 6: in my head from the super Bowl.
- 43:29Speaker 1: You don't want to do like my coaches say, like
- 43:31Speaker 1: no more what it could have should? You're looking back,
- 43:33Speaker 1: but I'm with you. You just look like I.
- 43:35Speaker 6: Don't know, And I I get wanting those young guys
- 43:39Speaker 6: to get experienced, because those are guys that you've invested
- 43:41Speaker 6: in as draft picks and they're hopefully going to be
- 43:44Speaker 6: here a long time and continue to develop. But I
- 43:46Speaker 6: don't know. It's just what would it have looked like?
- 43:48Speaker 6: Bigger body?
- 43:49Speaker 3: So you know Will and others, Wilson, a lot of
- 43:52Speaker 3: these young guys, You're gonna have to be coached hard.
- 43:55Speaker 3: You know, as soon as you know it's they're able
- 43:59Speaker 3: to come back to the facility because they're gonna need
- 44:03Speaker 3: to get stronger, they need to get faster, they need
- 44:06Speaker 3: to learn to playbook a little bit better, a little
- 44:08Speaker 3: little workshop, and I include Drake May and that too,
- 44:11Speaker 3: coach Scar Work. Yeah, we're gonna have to do some
- 44:13Speaker 3: hard coaching this offseason because you know, last year wasn't
- 44:18Speaker 3: good enough. You came up short, you know, so we'll

- 47:35Speaker 8: in play there. I think you're just trying to, you know,
- 47:39Speaker 8: figure out what's best defensively for us, what's best for
- 47:42Speaker 8: the you know, the staff organizationally and being able to

- 48:06Speaker 8: And I think we have still a great staff. There'll
- 48:08Speaker 8: be some you know, guys that will add or people
- 48:11Speaker 8: that will add going through this process. You know, happy
- 48:16Speaker 8: for you know, guys like Robert Kogler who was able
- 48:20Speaker 8: to go and be a tight ends coach in Pittsburgh
- 48:23Speaker 8: and you know some of those things. I mean again,
- 48:29Speaker 8: I there he will when I get back to Foxborough,
- 48:32Speaker 8: you know, I mean, I don't want to sit here
- 48:34Speaker 8: and misspeak and figure out where that ends up. And
- 48:37Speaker 8: you know, I've got a plan for him, and I
- 48:39Speaker 8: think that that's in a vision is better than then
- 48:43Speaker 8: the title necessarily, So you know, I just I don't
- 48:46Speaker 8: want to say something and not have that be you know,
- 48:51Speaker 8: an accurate depiction of what ends up happening once we
- 48:54Speaker 8: work through a lot of different things. Yeah, well, I
- 49:04Speaker 8: mean not only his future, but what he was able
- 49:07Speaker 8: to do for us and come in and and provide leadership,
- 49:12Speaker 8: work extremely hard and the time that he was rehabing
- 49:16Speaker 8: from the knee, and you know, I think it's just
- 49:19Speaker 8: a really good presence each and every week. And so
- 49:23Speaker 8: as we look to evaluate the football team, you know,
- 49:26Speaker 8: we're doing that constantly. We're doing that Elliott and myself
- 49:29Speaker 8: and Ryan and Stretch and Elliott's staff, and you know,
- 49:34Speaker 8: just being a little bit behind of where we were
- 49:36Speaker 8: just how long the season went. We're those conversations for
- 49:40Speaker 8: each and every player are happening in the meetings in
- 49:43Speaker 8: between that we have with the draft players here. So
- 49:46Speaker 8: you know, there's a lot of things that we'll do
- 49:47Speaker 8: between now and the time that the football season starts.
- 49:51Speaker 8: So that's going to be the same with with I
- 49:53Speaker 8: would say most every player on our roster. M. Yeah, well,
- 50:02Speaker 8: I think that there's probably some things that you know,
- 50:07Speaker 8: go into them making decisions, and again, we want our
- 50:10Speaker 8: players to make great decisions. And again we've we've tried
- 50:13Speaker 8: to support those players that have some things that have
- 50:16Speaker 8: come up, whether those are accusations, We're going to let
- 50:20Speaker 8: the legal process run its course, just like we said before.
- 50:25Speaker 8: Uh and and those players, whether that's the fund or
- 50:28Speaker 8: anybody else that has something, has done exactly what they're
- 50:31Speaker 8: supposed to do, be where they're supposed to be, communicate
- 50:34Speaker 8: with this, with the court when they're supposed to communicate
- 50:36Speaker 8: with them. So you know, we're going to let all
- 50:40Speaker 8: that take care of itself, and then we'll have to
- 50:42Speaker 8: see what the judgments are. You know in those particular cases. Well,
- 50:51Speaker 8: I think that there's you know, just looking across the board,
- 50:54Speaker 8: I think there's volume at the tight end class. And yeah,
- 50:58Speaker 8: whether they're premium players or what people would say that
- 51:02Speaker 8: their first round picks. I just know that, you know,
- 51:04Speaker 8: when you go and you evaluate other teams and you
- 51:07Speaker 8: get ready to play for them, there's a bunch of
- 51:09Speaker 8: fourth and fifth round you know, tight ends that ended
- 51:12Speaker 8: up starting and playing and contributing, and you know, so
- 51:15Speaker 8: wherever that value is, I just think that there's some
- 51:17Speaker 8: names there and I myself personally have to do a
- 51:22Speaker 8: better job of, you know, evaluating that position that I
- 51:26Speaker 8: can then give input to to the rest of the
- 51:29Speaker 8: personnel staff and kind of the vision that we have,
- 51:32Speaker 8: you know for that position. I think, you know, we've
- 51:35Speaker 8: met with a bunch of edge players. There's there's a
- 51:37Speaker 8: depth there. So you know, we'll continue to work our
- 51:41Speaker 8: way across the board and then enjoy these meetings and
- 51:45Speaker 8: you know, I'll have to go back and continue to
- 51:46Speaker 8: watch did I talk to hi? Yep? Well, man, I
- 52:00Speaker 8: think every year is different, and so we'll have to
- 52:02Speaker 8: have a really good rookie class next year. And we
- 52:04Speaker 8: hope that the players that we drafted, the ones that
- 52:07Speaker 8: played a lot, the ones that played you know, fifty
- 52:10Speaker 8: or sixty percent of the playtime, are the ones that
- 52:12Speaker 8: maybe didn't play as much. That they all need to develop.
- 52:15Speaker 8: They need to continue to grow and develop not only physically,
- 52:18Speaker 8: but in our program mentally and emotionally, and you know,
- 52:21Speaker 8: become more that foundation that we talked about. So, you know,
- 52:25Speaker 8: playing and winning seventeen games as a rookie is only
- 52:29Speaker 8: good if you can continue to to improve and use
- 52:32Speaker 8: those experiences, you know, to your benefit that would then
- 52:35Speaker 8: help the team process. What do you think, Well, I
- 52:42Speaker 8: talk Arthur's a friend, so I talked to him, you know,
- 52:45Speaker 8: often got a lot of respect for him as a coach,
- 52:48Speaker 8: but not only that as a person who is a friend,
- 52:52Speaker 8: you know. So for all the Ohio State fans, I
- 52:54Speaker 8: guess we have somebody to complain to if they don't
- 52:57Speaker 8: score fifty points a game, like every other Buckeye fan.
- 53:00Speaker 8: And so I'm excited for him to be in Columbus.
- 53:04Speaker 8: Obviously that place means a lot to me, you know,
- 53:06Speaker 8: personally in my family, so you know, having having gone
- 53:10Speaker 8: there and lived there and you know, support them. Yeah, well,
- 53:32Speaker 8: we should never have a reason for volume and staff
- 53:34Speaker 8: We we need to evaluate staffing at that level and
- 53:38Speaker 8: to find out and make sure that that every game
- 53:41Speaker 8: is treated the same, whether it's the primetime game on
- 53:43Speaker 8: Sunday night, it's the primetime game on Monday or Thursday,
- 53:47Speaker 8: or or those one o'clock games that you know is
- 53:50Speaker 8: the lifeblood of our league. So I think that if
- 53:54Speaker 8: if we need to figure out what staffing issues that
- 53:57Speaker 8: need to be taken care of so that those things
- 53:59Speaker 8: are looked at and we're not letting anything slip. We
- 54:02Speaker 8: need to be really good in replay. There's gonna be
- 54:04Speaker 8: mistakes on the field, just like there's mistakes and execution
- 54:08Speaker 8: by the players, mistakes by the coaches. There's gonna be
- 54:12Speaker 8: mistakes by the officials. There are, and they need to
- 54:15Speaker 8: be decisive. They need to believe in what they're calling.
- 54:19Speaker 8: But saying that there's gonna be mistakes, we have to
- 54:22Speaker 8: get to a system and replay that is close to
- 54:25Speaker 8: one hundred percent accurate as possible. I'm sorry. Well again,
- 54:33Speaker 8: I've never played for him, I've never coached with him.
- 54:35Speaker 8: I would say just his record speaks for itself. I
- 54:37Speaker 8: have a lot of respect for what he's done. I
- 54:40Speaker 8: don't have his secret sauce. I wish I did and
- 54:43Speaker 8: to be able to do it at one place for
- 54:45Speaker 8: eighteen years. But I know that his teams are They're physical,
- 54:49Speaker 8: their sound, they play great defense. They force you into mistakes.
- 54:55Speaker 8: But other than that, I'm only looking at it from
- 54:58Speaker 8: being against them. I just know that you're gonna make
- 55:05Speaker 8: some mistakes. Hopefully don't make too many of them. You
- 55:08Speaker 8: don't want to make the same mistakes twice. It's important
- 55:11Speaker 8: to be around the building. It's important to make sure
- 55:14Speaker 8: everybody in the organization knows that their job is critical
- 55:18Speaker 8: to our success. Now, I'm sure I made a bunch
- 55:23Speaker 8: of them. It's meant I think the relationship with with
- 55:40Speaker 8: players and specifically asked about aj it has meant a lot.
- 55:43Speaker 8: I've watched them grow, I've watched them mature. I'm proud
- 55:45Speaker 8: of them, proud of the you know, the father that
- 55:48Speaker 8: he is. I'm proud of the husband. And that has
- 55:50Speaker 8: nothing to do with where he plays and where or
- 55:53Speaker 8: where he played. So those are the things that are important.
- 55:57Speaker 8: You know, we reach out and text each other during
- 55:59Speaker 8: the things that happen good to each other, and sometimes
- 56:02Speaker 8: things don't go so well for for the people that
- 56:05Speaker 8: you're close with, and you text those as well. So, uh,
- 56:09Speaker 8: it's been a two way street of support and reminders
- 56:14Speaker 8: of of what got us to where we are here today.
- 56:17Speaker 8: I'm interested in how much get as much as you
- 56:28Speaker 8: guys can get. I guess it's about the same time.
- 56:30Speaker 8: So it depends what kind of questions you ask. You
- 56:33Speaker 8: get eighteen minutes. Some teams go over and then they
- 56:36Speaker 8: come rushing in, and then then the next team's late.
- 56:39Speaker 8: So that's the process. It's how long you can keep
- 56:41Speaker 8: them past eighteen minutes for the person that's taking them
- 56:43Speaker 8: to the other room standing outside the room, banging on it.
- 56:47Speaker 8: But it's you know, some guys have a lot to
- 56:50Speaker 8: talk about. Some guys have not as much. And I
- 56:54Speaker 8: think everybody has a story, everybody has a journey. Some
- 56:57Speaker 8: some players have a little bit more in their journey
- 56:59Speaker 8: that you have to unpack and sometimes you have to do.
- 57:03Speaker 8: You know, there's obviously follow up, and this is a
- 57:05Speaker 8: good first setting with forty five players might go ahead,
- 57:09Speaker 8: Bud Well, I don't want to tell you what it
- 57:16Speaker 8: is because we're still working through it. You know, we don't,
- 57:19Speaker 8: you know, I mean we we want to have a
- 57:21Speaker 8: plan and we want to bring in really talented players
- 57:24Speaker 8: that we have a vision for that we also believe
- 57:27Speaker 8: in the type of character that they have as we
- 57:29Speaker 8: build this team and improve on what we did this year,
- 57:34Speaker 8: and we know how difficult that will be. So right
- 57:37Speaker 8: now the plan is to evaluate everybody that we can
- 57:41Speaker 8: have communication and conversations when those times come with the
- 57:47Speaker 8: with the agents, we approach the tampering window. But right
- 57:52Speaker 8: now it's about gaining information from our scouting department and
- 57:55Speaker 8: having our coaches look at it and then figuring out,
- 57:58Speaker 8: you know, a few players at each position that that
- 58:00Speaker 8: may help us. I've never really tried to get focused,
- 58:07Speaker 8: you know. I mean if I shop at NEMA, Marcus
- 58:09Speaker 8: or Nordstrom or something. I've gotten to the point now
- 58:12Speaker 8: in my life where if I want something, I can
- 58:14Speaker 8: usually buy it. I don't, you know. I'm sure Richard
- 58:17Speaker 8: Miller and Elliott and Macro will will work and do
- 58:21Speaker 8: everything that they can to help us sign the players
- 58:24Speaker 8: within certain exceptions. You know. I just I haven't even
- 58:27Speaker 8: gotten that far just to feel like something usually just
- 58:30Speaker 8: try to buy it.
- 58:33Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 58:37Speaker 5: History, they have stuff that isn't it's it's just kind
- 58:41Speaker 5: of the n E logo.
- 58:42Speaker 1: It's not actually right. So I mean there it's almost rivalry.
- 58:44Speaker 3: I want the authentic stuff. What would you get a
- 58:52Speaker 3: lot of people ask me for one of those. I'm sorry,
- 58:55Speaker 3: that's all right. We just got an email about talking.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Over reach, still talking stick, we're talking sick.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Well do we have to do that? I mean I might,
- 59:04Speaker 3: I might resort to that. No, you can't hear, you
- 59:09Speaker 3: literally can't hear.
- 59:10Speaker 13: You know what all the experts say, experts of Wait,
- 59:15Speaker 13: I apologize sixteen times.
- 59:17Speaker 3: I'm sorry, you know, I'm just talking what fans are saying.
- 59:20Speaker 3: If you want to call them experts. Great, Now Paul
- 59:25Speaker 3: is upset.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Say what you were going to say?
- 59:28Speaker 3: I forgot what I was going to say. Now I
- 59:31Speaker 3: forgot more about radio number people lead.
- 59:34Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 59:38Speaker 3: All right back here in Patriots unfilteredday five to five
- 59:41Speaker 3: past five hundred is the hot line? Excuse me, just
- 59:46Speaker 3: wolf down in Italian, don't ask his name? And podcast
- 59:52Speaker 3: at Patriots dot com is the email address. Don't forget.
- 59:56Speaker 3: We've got Deuce calling in at about one ten? Is
- 59:58Speaker 3: that still.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: Right now?
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Oh he's early? Okay, well then we can't have him. Wait,
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: let's go right to Deuce. What's up, Deuce?
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: Hey guys, can you see me?
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Basically?
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: What video camera are we using over there?
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: It looks fancy. I'm being flanked right now. I don't
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: know if you can see. But Matt Smith no socks,
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: and Tony Flannagan here enjoying some delicious shapiros sandwiches shapiros
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: as they are wont to do. Okay, yep, that's a
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: classic here.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Okay, speaking of eating, have you been to Saint Almos yet?
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I have not, fred I you missed it.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: Yeah, it was, it was Unfortunately I was stuck. I
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: got stuck in Boston, so I didn't get out till
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: Tuesday night. They had to go on without me on
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: the almost reservation. But I am planning tonight to hit
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: up Almos and get a make up steak before I
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: head back tomorrow.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Are you going solo? I?
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: I don't know if I'll do whatever I gotta do,
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: gonna I'm not gonna let that intimidate me. I'm gonna
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: go stuff my fat face with a steak no matter
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: who comes or does.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: Cozy up to the bar and get yourself a steak
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: and you got to have the shrimp and yeah, enjoy.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: There you go.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: All right, so let's get right into it, Mike. Yesterday
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: we heard Rabel talking, you know, we we talked about,
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: you know, some of the things he had to say.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: You know, what what have you guys been doing since then?
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: And and maybe include what you did yesterday.
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: Sure, Yeah, it was great to get a chance to
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: talk to to Vrabel again. You know, he was kind
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: of busting our chops a little bit, as I said,
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: you know, hey, we haven't had a chance to talk
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: to you since last confine, and he was like, you
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: can dok to me whenever you want. But but it
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: was a lot of fun. I feel like he's getting
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: a little more comfortable, certainly with Evan and I and
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: really the rest of the team. You can just see.
- 1:01:47Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: It was one of the things Vrabel said yesterday, one
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: of the biggest differences just being more comfortable with the
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: media crew and our internal crew, h et cetera. But
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: but it's been great here on media row, as it
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: always is, not quite the extensive amount of interviews that
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: we did at the Super Bowl, but we've banked a bunch.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: It's been really fun talking to some of these guys.
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: And you know, today we got to see the tight
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: ends and the defensive backs, and I clocked, you know,
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: Vrabel saying he thought there was some interesting depth in
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: this class. So I think that's a good sign to
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: look at some of these guys lower ranked. I mean,
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: you know, I think the kid from Oregon, Sidiq, is
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: the clear cut number one tight end and probably a
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: first rounder. But after that sounded like Rabel thought there
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: were some talent there too, So that's a position. We
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: spent so much time talking about edge and tackle that
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: it's good to hear a little bit something different, different
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: perspective with the tight end. So kid Max Claire from
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: Ohio State, somebody I thought was really athletic. Maybe could
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: fit that mid round bill and otherwise we'll wrap up tomorrow.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: Check out the quarterbacks, wide receivers. I know that's an
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: important one for everybody. So looking forward to seeing guys
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: like Casey Concepcion, which going right around with the Patriots
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: or picking in the first round. So it's been another
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: great combine, even though I got here a little late.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: So about any of the people that you've seen in person,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: anybody jump out in terms of their comportment or you know,
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: how they carry themselves.
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: Well, Caleb Downs has the swag, and I mean a
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: lot of people here saying he could be the most
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: talented player in the draft. It's interesting to see where
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: he goes. Heard from him. He talked about Matt Patricia.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: Gave Matt Patricia a lot of credit for taking his
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: game to a new level there as Ohio State's defensive coordinator.
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: You know, it's funny some of these guys. I was
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: saying here, I think I've been doing it long enough
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: that some guys just give professional athlete vibes like you
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: just like this guy, he's gonna step into a locker room,
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: he's gonna know to take it seriously and be a professional.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: And there's been a handful of those guys. Sure some
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: of them will pop into my mind. Is as I
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: continue to talk, I get a key Mesidor that's one
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: that everybody's been talking about from Miami. Super disruptive defensive end.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: Probably gonna go some we're in that late first round.
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: He was one too, that just gave those vibes. Talked
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: a lot about Jason Taylor being a huge part in
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: his development, along with Ruben Bain, who I don't know
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: if you guys saw, but he had sub thirty one
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: inch arms. So we're back talking about armlink the game.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: But maybe it pushes a guy like Ruben bank Bain
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: down a little bit. Other guys in this class of
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: edge players get pushed down, and maybe the Patriots are
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: able to get, you know, a high value player there
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: at thirty first.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Overall, one of the things that Vrabel talked about yesterday,
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: you know, in terms of off season needs, and he
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: was very pointed about it was that the team needs
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: to get stronger, like, yeah, did you hear that? And
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: what did you think when you heard it?
- 1:04:41Speaker 8: I did.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know if he said it a
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: second time, but I was the one that asked him
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: a question that got it out of him on our
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: interview because he had said which I thought was really
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: interesting at the podium, talking about challenging his coaches to
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: continue to evolve and to come up with, you know,
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: new ways to build on their schemes. And so the
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: I asked him in our interview, you know, was there
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: anything else that you know, you were looking for from
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: this offseason? And he went right to that. I mean
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: I heard Alex mentioned, you know, talking. I mean, it's
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: kind of you look at that Super Bowl and Will
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: Campbell and Jared Wilson, those are probably exhibits A and B.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: And to tie it into when we had Mike gries
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: On yesterday, I said, Fred, when we talked to him
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: at the Super Bowl, when he came up with that
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: that thing which he admitted he got from Nick Cassario
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: of looking at those veteran defensive linemen that the Seahawks
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: had in such a rotation that they could just keep
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: rolling those guys. I mean, I think that's where that
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: Super Bowl matchup was won and loss. So when you
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: look at I mean, everybody's like, well, Campbell, Campbelllock. We
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: got at that, like there is element of players getting stronger,
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: getting better, playing faster, and I think that's what Mike
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: Vrabel realizes. We believe in this kid, but he's going
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: to have to meet us halfway by getting stronger and
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: you know, improving his pass sets. Things that you've heard
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: all over the last couple of weeks in the fallout
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: of the Super Bowl.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: What's the scuttle butt on you know, his comments about
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: digs and Gonzo's contracts.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think there you know, we had
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: Elliott on and they saw him playing it a little
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: down the middle about you know, those things will come
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: in due time. Reese's speculation yesterday was that that was
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: kind of semantics and that you don't want to get
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: into talking about that stuff before the new league year.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: But I think all everybody knows Christian Gonzalez is an
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: outstanding player and that the Patriots should want to keep him.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: But it takes two to Tango. We'll see how those
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: negotiations go, but I'm sure that. I mean to me,
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: that's kind of the main point of the offseason, securing
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: Gonzo and figuring out the edge position, maybe at a
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: left guard. You don't have to go crazy in free
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: agency to shore up some of these holes. And then,
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: as Rabel said, you got to continue to draft. Well,
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: that's that's so critical for this team as they round
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: out the program, continue to put additions on the foundation
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: that they built this year. So you know, every time
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: I come here, you just get so excited. You see
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: the young players that are enthusia he asked about getting
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: into the league, and you know, you start to imagine
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: how great some of them could be in a Patriots uniform.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: Have you developed a draft crush yet or a little
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: too early, But now that you're seeing these guys in person, I.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: Know you like, that's a good No, I do, I
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: do for sure. You know, the kid Keldric Fawk, He's
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: probably gonna be long gone before the Patriots pick, but
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: he's just one of those do it all edge players.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: I think he's probably in the team somewhere based on
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: what I've seen, But I really liked him the other one.
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: And this is a guy we've been talking about all week.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: We heard from one of our guests this week earlier,
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: Mark Ross, who'll be out in today's podcast. You know,
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: I asked him, is there a certain guy that pops
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: out to you that that screams Mike Frable? And he said,
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: our Mason. How shoot, I'm blanking on his last name
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: here on our Mason something from Oklahoma. It'll come to
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: me in a second. But he at the podium, small guy,
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: small edge rusher, but all effort. And that's another thing
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: that everybody talks about here is just the Rabel kind
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: of players. There's a lot of those guys. They jump
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: off the tape. You see him play with their hair
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: on fire. Uh, And I gotta look, this is gonna
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: kill me. How the hell did I freaking blank on
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: ar Mason's last name? I've been talking about him.
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: So unique that how could you even it?
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: Is? Okay?
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: Thomas R Mason Thomas Sorry, And you know, to go
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: full circle on this, like his name is literally R Mason.
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: His mom named him that because all his brothers had
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: our names, but she didn't want him to have an
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: R name. But she still want him to have an
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: r SO. He is ar Mason doesn't stand for anything.
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: It's just an r SO. Our Mason Thomas, he's a
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: he's a Rabel kind of guy.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Dude, you've been doing this for a couple of years.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Is it refreshing that this year you're going in not
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: really knowing what the team's gonna do? You know, the
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: two years ago you had Drake May. Last year you
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: kind of knew you were taking Campbell or one of
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: those guys. Now you're going in with no idea.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: It's great, pointise, I mean, that's that's what's fun about it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: It's you know, you knew the last couple of years
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: when you do your little fun mock drafts, you look
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: at other people's mock drafts and who they got has taken.
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: I mean, last couple of years it was maybe one
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: of two guys, two to three. Maybe maybe someone got
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: crazy and said they should take astroon genty. I don't know,
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: but you know, it kind of gets boring.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: You know, it's the same.
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: And they took Will Campbell and they took Drake May.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: So this has been a big question. I've been asking
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: a lot of the guests that we've had what are
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: the positions that you could see maybe falling through the cracks.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: Maybe there's a run on edge and there isn't a
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: player that gets pushed down to them in that position group.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: But all of a sudden you have someone like Kenyan Sadik,
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: the really mobile and the super athletic tight end from Oregon.
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: He's available at thirty one. So I think that's what's
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: most interesting to me is how does it play out
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: who gets pushed down? You know, every single mock draft
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: you look at, you're going to see a different player.
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: I interviewed Cynthia Freeland today from NFL Network. She had
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: a really interesting pick too. She went onto the giant
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: penetrating defensive lineman, which I like. So I think it
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: makes it more interesting for us. There are a lot
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: of different and guys that you can think about and consider.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: So do everybody, you know, fans see the workouts on TV,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: you know, in the stadium and they see the guys
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: you know, bench pressing and all that. But take us
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: behind the scenes, like in the corridors, Like is there
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: a lot of like you know, patriots, like you guys
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: talking to people on other teams and you know a
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: lot of that stuff going on behind you know, behind
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: the scenes.
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean a little bit, you know, and it's jeez.
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: I mean you go out there and you see guys
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: like working up in the hallways on their forty get
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: off and you can see them like, you know, going
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: through the motions and really, you know, drilling down on
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: how important these drills are. You know, right here in
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: the convention center, you see these guys, you know, getting
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: ready and knowing how much is on the line for
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: you know, the difference between a guy running a four
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: four three or a four to three eight. I mean
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: it's you know, five thousandths of a second, but it
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: could mean millions of dollars to these guys. So in
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: it it's just the general atmosphere of Indie. Everything's going on. Yesterday,
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: Peter Schrager put out on Twitter. He hyped up this
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: breakfast place, and I had had an average breakfast yesterday.
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: I'm like, I want to get a good breakfast today.
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: So I went to this this little cafe that he recommended,
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: which was right there. It's been sitting right in front
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: of my stupid face for all five years that I've
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: been here before, and it was one of the best
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: breakfasts I had. But you're looking at coaches and scouts,
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: you're looking at agents. I mean the place is just
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: packed with you know, people doing deals, all that kind
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: of stuff. You understand. Now, that's why a lot of
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: this groundwork for free agency and for the off season,
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: it seems like it all gets laid out here. You know,
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: a lot of it in the lobby of the JW
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: and places like that little cafe that I went to
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: this morning, or you know, even out in the hallways
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: here at the convention Center.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Any coffee shop incidents with media members each other, anything
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: like that going on. That was that was like the
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: big story last year, right the Starbucks.
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: No, I know, I know, no no fights at Starbucks,
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: and and we have been around there of course. Evan,
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: you know, does frequent that at that establishment a little bit, had.
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: A lot of grapes with national people this year. I'm
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: surprised he wasn't scrapping him a Starbucks.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: He's going around picking fights. I know, we're gonna go
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: try to find dann Rolovsky and you know, see if
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: we can have him Evan makeup. But I don't know.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: You guys will have to ask Evan when we get back.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: I feel like his love of the prospects.
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: And like that.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: I think it's waned a little bit. I don't know
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: if he's if he's got the same passion for the prospects,
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: You'll have to ask him that. I don't know. I
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: was like even losing his ed chair a little bit.
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: All right, Well, listen, we'll let you get back to
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: your Shapiro sandwich.
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: I didn't get one, Fred. I'm saving up for my
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: steak tonight.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Okay, there you go, saving All right, Well, thanks Mike,
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: say hello to everyone for us, and we'll see when
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: you get back. Safe travels.
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: Thanks guys, We'll see you tuesday.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: All right, They're great, Mike, do so why from Indy.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: I love that Rabel was kind of ripping on him
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: and Evan.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: When they did their one on one talk three times
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: a week. Yeah, and then at the end of it
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: he was like, you guys should ask more questions. I
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: would love to see if the camera was still rolling,
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: because you know, Vrabel continued to dig at them, like,
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: you know, after the after they were off air.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: But that is, you know, that's the place to be
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: if you're a coach or scout in the NFL. That's
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: you know, where deals are made, you know in the
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: back halls, and jobs are you know, set up for
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: down the road.
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: And that's why when people say, like, what's even the
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: point of the combine anymore? Guys aren't throwing some guys
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: aren't participating. But that's that's the reason.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: It's a convention and the most network most companies have
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: like sales kickoffs. This is like the NFL sales cipoff,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: leave the hotel and coach harbors walking right.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: Yes, it's the.
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: Swag bags of promotional marketing material.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the closest thing to a convention that the
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: NFL has. All right, eight five five pats one hundred.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: We got some callers who have been patiently waiting. We'll
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: start with Eldred, North Carolina. What's up? Eldred?
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: Hey?
- 1:14:09Speaker 12: Alex, Hey Fred, Hey, Batist say y'all doing all right?
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: Hey?
- 1:14:13Speaker 12: I got a question?
- 1:14:14Speaker 8: Fake.
- 1:14:15Speaker 12: Everybody keeps saying, you know the left guard, you know,
- 1:14:19Speaker 12: Wilson and move him to center. Okay, if he got
- 1:14:22Speaker 12: problem with strimp and left guard, wouldn't you think he
- 1:14:25Speaker 12: had a problem with strimp at the center?
- 1:14:26Speaker 8: Yep?
- 1:14:27Speaker 12: Because sometime you know, you got the big dts on you.
- 1:14:30Speaker 8: Yep, it's over again.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:14:32Speaker 12: So I don't see the I don't see the you
- 1:14:35Speaker 12: know the movie you know that makes it.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: It's a good point. It's a good point. If his
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: problem is strength, it will show up at center too,
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: So it's a good point.
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: Okay, Eldrid, did you see uh sorry, did you see
- 1:14:53Speaker 6: evans apology to you on Catch twenty two yesterday?
- 1:14:57Speaker 12: Oh yeah, I was talking about you. I can call
- 1:14:59Speaker 12: you here because of the connection, and uh, I was
- 1:15:02Speaker 12: hearing it, but I went back and played it, and
- 1:15:04Speaker 12: I'm like, I kept telling you that. Yeah, but I
- 1:15:09Speaker 12: step I sept his apology. I said his apology like, uh,
- 1:15:13Speaker 12: like I told him. You know, I've been I'm hoping
- 1:15:16Speaker 12: that who we get at thirty one because he's not
- 1:15:19Speaker 12: picked in the first round, but he goes in the
- 1:15:21Speaker 12: early second round unless he shows out on the forty,
- 1:15:25Speaker 12: which is gonna you know, move from boot stock up anyway.
- 1:15:29Speaker 12: But that's our ex that's another a j that's another
- 1:15:34Speaker 12: Mike Evans. And then then tomorrow he's to like Thomas Jacksonville.
- 1:15:39Speaker 12: Now he's better than that. And I've been I've been watching,
- 1:15:42Speaker 12: like said, I watched acc in sec college all the time,
- 1:15:46Speaker 12: and that kid stood out for the last two years
- 1:15:48Speaker 12: for me, besides don K Thornton. But when Mendoza get
- 1:15:52Speaker 12: there and throw to him, they was gonna say, Eli,
- 1:15:55Speaker 12: you're right.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: Again, Okay, all right, thanks, all right.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: We could say with Wilson it's a comfort thing and
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: not strength thing, because I think it wasn't center his
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: main position.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it was in college. Yeah, yeah, so yeah, So
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: that's why I said if strength is his problem, maybe
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: for him it isn't.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: I think people have a lot of people have said
- 1:16:17Speaker 6: maybe Garrett Bradbury is getting older moved Jared Wilson to center.
- 1:16:23Speaker 6: I don't know if it's that easy, because what you
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: would lose intellectually with Garrett Bradbury and I don't think
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: he's done anything to lose his job. I think it
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: has to be a competition. But if Jared Wilson goes
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: from being a starter his rookie year to then year
- 1:16:38Speaker 6: two being a depth piece behind Garrett until he's truly ready,
- 1:16:42Speaker 6: I'm cool with that. I don't know if that's how
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: it play out. Yeah, but what's best. I don't know
- 1:16:49Speaker 6: what's best for the team, what's best for the players.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we got to figure this out. We
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: got to figure this out. It was okay for most
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: of the season, okay, but it's got to be better.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: We got to elevate this offense. Todd's in North Carolina.
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: What's up, Todd?
- 1:17:07Speaker 10: Hey, this is the heartless Canadian sociopath calling in to
- 1:17:11Speaker 10: congratulate the team America, both the ladies and the men's
- 1:17:15Speaker 10: on their hockey victory.
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: Yeah, if you didn't cry in Canada, it's a little
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: different than what I was saying. Todd, Come on, it's
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: okay talking about Americans.
- 1:17:23Speaker 10: I'm going to get it's true.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: It is true.
- 1:17:27Speaker 10: So now I want to get back to what happened
- 1:17:30Speaker 10: last year when we got favorl in. We set some
- 1:17:32Speaker 10: expectations and I kind of really have embraced the brave away.
- 1:17:35Speaker 10: Last year, I was hoping that we'd get d eight
- 1:17:37Speaker 10: wins and oh my god, did we last past At
- 1:17:40Speaker 10: this year, with the schedule, I got a different idea.
- 1:17:43Speaker 10: I'm not targeting winds. I want to see play. I
- 1:17:46Speaker 10: want to see effort for a full sixty minutes. I
- 1:17:50Speaker 10: want to see all four quarters, and I want to
- 1:17:51Speaker 10: see us to be feisty. I want, you know, the
- 1:17:53Speaker 10: people who play us that aren't in our division go,
- 1:17:56Speaker 10: Thank god we don't have to see them again. I
- 1:17:58Speaker 10: want to see a feistiness there. So you know, I
- 1:18:00Speaker 10: know we started setting expectations last year when Rabel got in.
- 1:18:03Speaker 10: I don't think it's too early to just have some
- 1:18:04Speaker 10: base ones.
- 1:18:05Speaker 11: What are yours?
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Thanks, guys?
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: All right, My my baseline expectation or hope is to
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: win the East again. Yeah, I mean, that's what I
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: want to do. I don't I know it's a tougher schedule,
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: but it's going to be a tougher schedule for the
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: Bills too, and for the Jets and the Dolphins. We're
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: all playing the same conference divisions, and I think we
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: should come out on top of the East.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, if you won the East last year,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: the bar has to be that again, minimal, right.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: And then you know, I'm not saying we're going to
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: get to the super Bowl again. The chances of that
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: are pretty slim. But you know, I think there's a
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: good chance that we win the East again.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: You want to host a playoff game?
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: Yeahs fair.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: At least let's do it at least one.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: Bethany is in Ontario. I wanted to write in with
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: praise for Alex. She's been a great addition to the team,
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: with far better insights than those allowed to wear a jersey.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: What does that mean? Who talk about Deuce?
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: Maybe Deuce when he wears jerseys or maybe just I
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: don't know, because me and MLB have feelings about grown
- 1:19:11Speaker 6: men that were jerseys of other men.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: I really enjoyed hearing her on Tuesday show. Sometimes she
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: gets quiet when the whole crew is there, so it
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: was great to hear her and what she had to say.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: So kudos to Alex and don't be afraid to speak
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: over the guys. Chris was also a great addition, but
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: hasn't been there enough to get flowers. So what did
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: you say on Tuesday that was so? Maybe?
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't think I said anything that profound.
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: I think it was just I don't know. Sometimes when
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: Evan's here and you guys are here, I have so
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: much respect for you guys and your insight and how
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: long you've been here, and I don't always feel like
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: I I don't know. I don't want to interrupt the
- 1:19:49Speaker 6: flow conversation sometimes, but when it's just the three of us.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: It's tough to room, you know.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: But Chris Cassidy did a great job. I thought he
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: crushed it this week.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, So what did you guys talk about?
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: A lot of Elliott stuff?
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: It was mostly coming out of Elliott's press conference, team building,
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: a little bit of the dig stuff, But honestly, the
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: biggest topic I feel like was Will Campbell and just
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: them buying into him at left tackle.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: And we got a little off the rails, so we
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: talked a little. We talked a little hockey and Olympics,
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: and it was like it was a good mix.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: I know you were very you were very touched with
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: that win.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: I was, you know, I was touched with the bringing
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: the good Drow kids on. I thought that was so nice.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that was nice.
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: The psycho the sociopath comment was mostly a dig up, Paul, See.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: I know it was a great win. It was great
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: to win the goal. But I don't put it up
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: there like some of you kids are doing, because like
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: it's different now it's pros playing pros. It's not such
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: a big achievement to beat Canada. I mean, we have
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: good pros too in the NHL. In the eighty when
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: we beat Russia. It was literally kids playing grown men,
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: professionals against Russia. That was like amazing.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: I wasn't alive for that though them. You know, I
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: was miracle and I loved it.
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: You know, I was a freshman in college when it happens,
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: and that was you know, like that was unbelievable. This
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: was very believable. The USA was the number two seed.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: It wasn't like, you know, so like it's just good
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: to be Canada. You hadn't done it in a long time.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: I didn't know they had won the gold. Yeah, forty
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: six years.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: But I don't care. Like the Olympics, I love it.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: I love watching the parents. It makes me cry.
- 1:21:39Speaker 6: No, that's I think it's just what is cooler than
- 1:21:42Speaker 6: winning a medal for your country?
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: I don't know. I think that's just like the pinnacle
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: of sport to me?
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: Is it? I don't know, you know, as a female
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: that would be for me because the level of professionals
- 1:21:54Speaker 6: before I could play that.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: If you're like in skiing or something like that, absolutely,
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: But if you're an NBA player, like, isn't the Stanley
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: Cup the pinnacle?
- 1:22:05Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: I think yeah, I think spit and Chickless brought that.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I was like, would these guys trade their gold for
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: a Stanley Cup?
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Probably?
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: Not?
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: Again, I think I look at it differently because as
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: a woman, that's the furthest you can.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: Get, you know, And it's just no like certain sports.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: I hear you that.
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: That and the emotional tie in with the goodrow yeah, ingle,
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: and then I just had a lot of pride.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: For how many Massachusetts ties were on that team.
- 1:22:33Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: Yep, it's good, Yep, that was good.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: My friend Connor the presidential.
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: Let's not go there all right, crazy time, David writes
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: in I have to comment on something Paul has been
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: saying the last couple of shows. When a caller calls
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: in and says they like a player, but not for
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: a crazy amount of money, Paul snarkily responds, saying, you
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: don't like the player, citing the player's performance being why
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: you wouldn't want to pay him, not the contract. While
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: I'm not on while I'm on his side in general,
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: I have to provide an admittedly extreme example, Paul, how
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: do you feel about Dak Prescott? I personally think he's
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: pretty decent. Would you pay him sixty million dollars? A year.
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: I personally wouldn't. I think he's a good quarterback, but
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: not a sixty million dollar player. Some players aren't worth
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: a crazy high price tag. I understand the cap is
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: crap mentality, but at some point you have to be
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: mindful of your cap situation. So here we get into
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: the semantics argument.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Is he saying Paul wouldn't pay him or the writer?
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: No, he David says he wouldn't pay Dak Prescott.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: I think Paul would, Yeah, because I agree with Paul
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: on this is that the market's the market, right, Like
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: if I think Jason Jackson a couple of years ago,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: they didn't pay him, but like that's what the market
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: was for a cornerback.
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: I think that's Paul's point is if you don't want
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: to pay Dak Prescott what the market is bearing, yeah,
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: then you don't really like this Dak Prescott. You don't
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: think he's good enough.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Yeah, No, that's fair, you know.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: So that's it's a semanna thing. But I understand what
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: Paul is saying that if you really like the guy
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: and you want him, you got to pay what the
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: market is bearing. Yeah, that's it, that's it.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: Comments what the price Tag says that, and even Marcus right.
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: So, and take Gonzales for example, if you love him,
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: you're gonna have to pay him. What is it, forty
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: million dollars now for an elite cornerback. So if you
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: don't want to pay Gonzales forty million dollars, you don't
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: like you don't think he's that good.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: And if you want, if you want to pay him,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: you better do it now because it's gonna be more
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: extensive next year. What I was the name the Panthers
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: cornerback J C. Horn. I don't think he's that much,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: but that's what the market is.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: Make sure you again have Drake.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so you know, so I.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: Get what Paul saying. I get what Paul saying.
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: Interesting to see how quickly they try to get Gonzo
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: signed after the new lead year.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: Another thing is what other corners are up, because I
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: think gonzill one of the best corners of the league.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: If not, he'll probably the market.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: But that being said, if a player who's worse sets
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: the market, then you're gonna have to pay him more.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: So pay Gonzo early, right, yeah right, No matter what
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: you're paying him now, in two or three years, it'll
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: be chump change. Yeah, you know, it's crazy. It's just
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: the way it works, Just the way it works.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: If you thought our inflation was that just trying to
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: live and be happy, the.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: Old regime might have just tagged Gonzo and then we're
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: just going into the cycle of that.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: There were a couple of moments in Tom Brady's career
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: where he was the highest paid quarterback in the NFL,
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: but it went.
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: By like that.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I think an interesting thing with Gonzo's
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: contract is the health because I don't think he's played
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: a full season yet, so that's the only thing I
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: think the team could maybe try to get some money
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: back on it.
- 1:25:45Speaker 6: But that was how long the season went.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, no, agree, Joe writes in in Michigan. One other
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: factor that has to be considered in the free agent
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: free for all is the what ifs. What if Buffalo
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: gets a j Brown across they are your closest competitor.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: They are getting close to desperation mode with Josh Allen
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: in a Super Bowl. Don't teams sometimes make moves to
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: prevent other teams from getting a guy. I'm sure Belichick
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: did that more than once. Well, not at that level.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: You don't You don't go give up big assets and
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: pay big money for Max Crosby just to prevent the
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: Patriots from getting them. You have to really want them,
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: you know. So if that's how you're running your organization,
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: I'm glad you're in our division because we're going to
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: beat your ass every year, you know. I think that's
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: what happened when Brady was here, And Paul kind of
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: laughs every time I say it, But Tom Brady forced
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: the other teams in the AFC East to make bad
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: decisions that.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: They're always in a hole.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: And you know.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Scenario if you're the Jetsy over because we're going to
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: get him. So ye so yeah, But that that that
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: being said, if AJ Brown or Justin Jefferson is available,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: I would hope we would make the trade. If Buffalo
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: is willing to make it, I hope we'd be willing
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: to make that.
- 1:27:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, right, Like if it's if it's two picks for
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: for Justin Jefferson.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: Right, if you were their agent at that player, you
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: want you set up that bidding ward between the Patriots,
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: and so you let the Patriots know that the Bills
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: are interested, and you let the Bills know the Patriots
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: are interested so you can what.
- 1:27:26Speaker 6: Do you think is more desirable if you're a free agent? Well,
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: what position if you're a free agent, just anyition, what
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: team would you rather?
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: Patriots have a young quarterback, They just came off a
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: super Bowl, great coach, getting a new facility, you got
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: a player, coach guy, that seems But.
- 1:27:46Speaker 6: I think we have a little bit better than There's.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: A little bit of uncertainty in Buffalo in terms of
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: the coach coach. You know, nobody knows if Joe Brady's
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: going to be a good head coach. The new stadium
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: is fine, but the facility, I think is the same.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: If you're in Buffalo, you're getting snow during the season.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: We get after, we have the ocean.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: Honestly, Like there's a few good restaurants in Buffalo, but really,
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: you don't want to live in Buffalo. Yeah you live
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: there because.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: You have to Joshua Allen Yeah yeah, well she doesn't
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: even live there, right Like.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: So I think right now, I think I think I
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: think the Patriots have an advantage over destination when it
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: comes to you know, taxes are high in New York too,
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: so that's the same. You know, now Miami has a
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: leg up when it comes to destination, but are not.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Going to win.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: They don't, and who's going to be their quarterback?
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: They're starting They're literally starting over. It's crazy to see.
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: Like my first game I covered here was Tuha Tyreek
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: Water before the concussion and that September game down in
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: Miami Week one, and just it's just that's the NFL
- 1:28:59Speaker 6: for you, how quick things can change.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Darius and Louisville Wright saying, hey, Alex, when you have
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: aj Brown, you give him seven to eight targets, no problem.
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: If you don't, then you have a problem with your offense. Okay,
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: and you know seven eight targets will probably satisfy him. Yeah,
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: And I think there's enough to go around for Diggs
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: in that scenario.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: So I you know, I think Diggs's mentality changed, which
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: is how we saw him grow as a player. But like,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: when's the last time we had a receiver in New
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: England being upset that it didn't enough targets. I kind
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: of like that with my number one.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: And don't forget last year a lot of the games
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: that Drake had really good games, you only threw the
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: ball like twenty something times. Yeah, you know, like we
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: weren't a pass happy team. Next year, I expect that
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: to go up. I expect him to be throwing over
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: thirty times a game, you know, I hope.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Anyway, I expect this. I think the Saints game was
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: kind of well, the Bills too, but the Saints game
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: was like, Oh, this kid has a cannon to all
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: those deep balls, Like I want to see that every week.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: Let's see what is who is this? CJ and Minnesota?
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: He says. If I'm Mike Vrabel, my pitch to Digs
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: is simple, take a pay cut and you have a
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: path to the NFL Hall of Fame. He is realistically three,
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: maybe four productive seasons away from being firmly in the
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. Conversation, volume matters, longevity matters, and consistent
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: production into your mid thirties is what separates haul of
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: very good from Canton receivers. Side note, he also has
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: one of the most iconic TD catches of all time,
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: the Minnesota Miracle. Remember that one. Let's look at the math.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: If dig simply repeats his twenty twenty five season over
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: the next three years, that eighty five catches oney thirteen
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: yards for touchdowns. His career totals would project to eleven
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: hundred and ninety seven receptions, fourteen thousand, five hundred and
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: forty three yards, eighty seven touchdowns. And then he compares
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: it to guys who are in the Hall of Fame,
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: and they that compares very favorably. I'm not going to
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: go down the list on volume alone, Diggs would be
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: right there statistically in some categories ahead. So he's saying
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: that that's your pitch. Yeah, So he said, instead of
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: asking him to carry the offense, you put him in
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: a position to age into greatness.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: I think realistically are looking at one more like very
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: above average year of Stefan Diggs, just with age and
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: career and hits and injuries. But like he needs to
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: decide if he wants to, you know, keep growing his
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: bank account or if he wants to win, and that's
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: a decision for the player.
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: But from everything he said, and just like reading the tea,
- 1:31:42Speaker 6: like if you're going to take what he's said at
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: face value, I think he values the situation here, and
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: I think he's at a point in his career where
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: he's thinking long term. He's not necessarily thinking like ego,
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: Like he's looking at the bigger picture.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yep.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: Tyler from Ludlow says, I have a game for the
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: gen Z team. I guess one of us not include it.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: A clue what you millennials?
- 1:32:05Speaker 8: All right?
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Anyway, A clue is given that ties two names together,
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: such as a sixteenth century English explorer that finished second
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: in m VP voting this year. So the answer would
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: be Sir Francis Drake may So you kind of have
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: need to know some some book stuff here, I think. Anyway,
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: So here's the next one. I don't know if anyone
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: will get it. The best friend of Corey Matthews in
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: Boy Meets World that also catches passes. So I don't
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: know who Matthews is. I love Boy Meets the Punter Henry. Well,
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: that's that's true.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Wasn't the brother's name hunter? Or the best friend's name
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: was Hunter?
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: So yeah, you have to know the best friend's name.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: Who's the best Corey's best friend was the name Hunter?
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: Wasn't he? Okay?
- 1:32:52Speaker 6: I couldn't remember if it was the brother?
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: The best was the first?
- 1:32:55Speaker 6: There?
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: Hunter was his first name?
- 1:32:59Speaker 8: Oh?
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: Really? Okay?
- 1:33:01Speaker 14: No?
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: So the answer the answer he has is Sean Hunter,
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: Henry Shawn Hunter saw Hunter? Okay? So sounded so sure
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: of yourself over there.
- 1:33:12Speaker 6: That's why I didn't think the best friend's name of Okay.
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: Okay, next one, so you understand the concept, all right.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: A McDonald's burger that calls for the Warriors to come
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: out and play Mac Big Mac mccollins, Big Mac Collins.
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: There you go.
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: Good God, Alex's the greatest Patriots lineman of all time.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: That also moonlights is Miley Cyrus's alter ego. So what's
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: her alter ego? John Hannah Hannah Mont John Hannah Mont Good,
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: I think we're.
- 1:33:49Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Two more a former team quarterback drafted with Drake meets
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: a current player that rushes the quarterback will yeah, there
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: you go. And then finally, a band with the hit
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: song Rihannan that was also a first round quarterback with
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: the patriotswood Leetwood Mac Jones. There you go, Rhannon, I
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: said it wrong.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: Great song, probably my favorite one.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: Okay, okay, so that was good.
- 1:34:22Speaker 8: Good.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Tyler a couple more The Lions huh go love the Lions.
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: Tyler from Ludlow, Okay, Brendan and Edmonton. He says, I
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: want no part of aj Brown at the price I
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: think he'll cost after watching him last year. I don't
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: think he can run or separate. I would rather invest
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: the resources and someone we can develop and take on
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: the risk of them not being the developed player.
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: The asking price, the price they'll get.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: I just feel like we've been doing that for the
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: past six years. Like I think, if you get it,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: if you can get a j Brown, you go get him.
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: Okay, Daniel and Dunned in Florida, how would you feel
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: about giving Mike Evans a two or three year deal
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: and then at tight end draft Oscar delt from Georgia
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: see any good?
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: I haven't done my tight end yeh, that's a question.
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: But the Mike Evans stuff, we could have used him
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: years ago. But I think he's thirty three. Yeah, Like,
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I think he's.
- 1:35:21Speaker 13: More of a like.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I could see him on the bills, honestly, but I
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: just don't think a thirty three year old helps us.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: Jacket and Arbor wants to note. Did I just hear
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: Mike Rabil say that he has an open check book
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: to sign free agents. I don't think so.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: I don't think so either.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they're gonna go at it.
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: Logically, they're not just gonna close their eyes and swipe
- 1:35:45Speaker 6: their credit card.
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: And so I don't know if Rabel sees it the
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: same way as Belichick used to. But Belichick was very
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: aware of the locker room dynamic in terms of contracts. Yeah,
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: you know, like if he felt this guy was better
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: than this guy, he would make sure that the contracts
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: lined up, and he would reward guys like you know, ah,
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: you know, name some of the guys Tully, Bantacin or whatever.
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: But he would he would reward guys with contracts who
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: were his guys and to show the other players, like,
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: if you do it my way, this is what you'll get.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: But there was a hierarchy in his locker room in
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: terms of who made what, because every player knows what
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: everybody else is making. It's no secret. It's all out there.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: So I don't know if Rabel's the same way. It'll
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: be interesting. Spi in Fresno says, please Fred, please rank
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: in order these products. Aaron's Speed Queen nut Wizard, and
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: it includes slope with a soap with a slot for
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: good measure. So a nut wizard is like somebody gave
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: it to me. It's it's a device for picking up acorns.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: You ever see like the bingo cages.
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: Yeah, so it looks like a bingo cage on a
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: broomstick and you roll it on your lawn in it
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: and it picks up acorns in it. So I was
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: complaining like twenty years ago, like we had this amazing
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: season where there were just tons of acorns, and so
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: somebody sent me this nut. It's called the nut Wizard.
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: Why do you want to pick up the acorns?
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: Oh, they're all over your lawn. Okay, yeah, you can't
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: have that. It's not good for your lawn.
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: The squirrels don't take them. Okay, it's not good for it.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: Well, the squirrels did, and then you get an abundance
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: of squirrels and it's like a whole ecosystem station. Yeah.
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: So anyway, right now, Aaron's like like, like, you know
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: the job that it did over the last few days.
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: Not to mention you kept it outside all all year.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: Yeah, just right, it's just a tarp. I don't even
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: put it in a garage.
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: Are you going to build it a garage? After what
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: it did for you?
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: This needs a little workshop.
- 1:38:02Speaker 7: For him.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: It really has earned a shed. Is on my top
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: and speed Queen Love love the speed queen. Uh in
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: not words that I never have had to use it
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: because once they scent it, I never had the acorn
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: problem again, third or fourth after and the slot doesn't
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: it doesn't, it doesn't exist. But you know, okay us,
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: he says, slightly concerned that Paul's absence for a funeral
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: will disincline you all from the time honored tradition of
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: trash talking the pfw p U absentee. Perhaps Eric finally
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: got eaten by a Yemeny rescue dog. Uh, that would
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: be a great story anyway, Please don't hold back, as
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: I'm sure the dearly departed would approved. Some pp jokes
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: related question for Fred as far as you can recall,
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: has Paul always had the martyrdom complex where he imagines
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: people are attacking his right to have an opinion? Or
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: is that an artifact of the aging weight flux situation process. No,
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: he's always been that way. Yeah, like you know everyone,
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: he can't. He's the only one that can't have an opinion.
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: But of course he's the one that has more opinions
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: than anyone.
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm an Italian joke.
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: He wouldn't like.
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: Yeah, Oh, so go ahead, just it's the same thing
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: he says about Italians, like everyone can only rag on
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: Italians and they can't say anything back.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: You know, it's like his that's just it's to cross that.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: It's terrible.
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: It's terrible. Boston Cream rights. Boston Cream writes in hey guys,
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: and tudo bem to Alex, what is tudo bem to?
- 1:39:46Speaker 10: Like?
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: What's up?
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: How are you?
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: It's not Latin, it's what's good? No tudo bee Portuguese? Okay,
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: okay okay. Fred as a tennis bro, have you gotten
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: behind the pickleball trend? No, no, hard no, no, it's
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: an abomination. I hate pick a ball sucks, sucks.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: So you're not gonna go to the place.
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: Up the hill? Hell no, hell no.
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: He's a rocket purist.
- 1:40:14Speaker 8: Yep.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Kind of seems like at your current numerical age, that
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: might be something you would dominate.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: Never never tennis, You use it until you lose.
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: Like although April seventeenth, I'm going under the knife getting
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: my achilles fixed and a bone spur removed, so I'll
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: be out of action for a lease.
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: What did you do to your achilles?
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: It's just over time, it's just messed up, really like
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: a piece of elastics. Yeah, like if I if I
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: go full throttle, it'll snail. Yeah, it's it's on its
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: way out.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: So and Daniel Jones, they're gonna fix that.
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: And they're gonna there's a bone spur there in the
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: same foot, so they're going to take care of that. Yeah.
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: But I'm going to be out of action for probably
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: eight weeks.
- 1:40:55Speaker 14: So what will you do?
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: Can you like sit in a chair and still.
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I'm gonna get the scooter. I don't
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: want to crutches.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: The screen with the scooter.
- 1:41:08Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: Yeah, So April seventeenth, I'm going.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: Under the knife as giving you a scooter.
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: Aaron's do they make big orange scooter?
- 1:41:19Speaker 7: Maybe you could make a scooter to Toyota dot com
- 1:41:21Speaker 7: to make you a scooter. What did you say, buy
- 1:41:24Speaker 7: a Toyota dot Com can make you a scooter?
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: Okay, there you go.
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe Bob's Furniture can make them a scooter, you know,
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: a nice collapsible one. Yeah, all right, Dustin right Sin.
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: Looking to the tampering period, how likely do you think
- 1:41:42Speaker 3: the Patriots make a huge splash on offense rather than
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: the speculation of trading for Max Crosby personally, I think
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: the defense is great and could be bolstered through the draft.
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: Let's get a J Brown. P S. I love you, Paul,
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: don't ever change. So we haven't even mentioned Crosby on
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: this show. He's another one that seems to love the
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: Patriots and Mike Crable.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I'm a big Max Crosby guy.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: I'd love to get Max Cross.
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: I think according to Rassini he's a big Rabel guy.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: You're gonna apparently the Raiders are asking for to first
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, so I do. I don't hope we're
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: in a situation where is it between like the receiver
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: like AJ and Crosby, because then you y'at pick one.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: I want them both, but I just don't know that's realistic.
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: L from Wisconsin says, I'm all in on AJ Brown.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: I think I'm a bit scarred still from the wide
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: receivers this team is drafted that going all in on
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: a known commodity is the best path forward. Plus, I
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: think his skill set just matches so well with what
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: it feels like Drake wants to do.
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: It would be awesome.
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: I mean, I don't want me calling him a red
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: flag to take away from the fact that I would
- 1:42:50Speaker 6: be jumping up and down.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: I don't really broke that they were doing that all
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: about you, But I don't really value the picks as much.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: Like there's a very good chance that AJ Brown Jefferson
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: are going to be at them. Yeah, he's there's a
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: good chance for the next three maybe not next year's
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: draft class because the wide receiver class is insane, but
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: there's a good chance that those players are going to
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: be better than most of the wide receivers you draft.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: So why use the pick? Just get the sure thing?
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. I've always said that, you know, like
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: at you know, is he better than the draft pick?
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: And thirty one A J. Brown is better than the
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: thirty first draft pick.
- 1:43:26Speaker 6: Now, if they're going to make a big trade like that,
- 1:43:27Speaker 6: would you rather it be for Crosby or AJ Brown?
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: So what's more important to you? To me, it's just Crosby, Yeah,
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: it's but I do think, yeah, it well, it depends
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: if you don't resign Chase On or like you need
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: the edge rusher, Like, yeah, that's an important one.
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: Let's see Eric and fort me Maryland. Thank you for
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: your service. There's been rumors in the Internet that the
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: Bears could be starting to move DJ More not a
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: bad little player.
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: I fine, I just don't he doesn't move the needle
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: like one of those guys.
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: In the second half last year, he seemed to be
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: getting fewer targets behind Colston Lovelin and was behind Roma
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: Dunza in the first half of the season. It could
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: be that More, in his twenty million dollar plus cap
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: hit are at best a third or fourth target behind
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: at Dunsay, Colston and possibly Lutha Burden, who saw a
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: lot more action in the latter part of the season.
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: More is the same age as AJ Brown, can play
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: the x or z and as a team captain as
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: opposed to being a disgruntled diva. I mean that Bears
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: offenses loaded. Yeah, so you could see where he might
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: be the odd man out.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: You know, I think a Brian Thomas junior would be
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: more entertaining to me personally than DJ Moore. But that's
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: just me. That's a twenty three year old stud, young
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: receiver who just headed down in the year.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: But would they want to part Like, yeah, will they
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: want to give him up?
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: That's yeah, that's the question.
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: Excuse me, Mike and Winchester, Virginia and Speed New Jersey.
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: Was that Saddlebrook? Maybe s B New Jersey? I don't know,
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: Guy South Brunswick, I'm not sure. A few quick points. First,
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: I think this old line talk is crazy. Campbell needs
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: to get a real off season under his belt to
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: work on strength and wait at the NFL level. Just
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: get the kids some skinless chicken and he'll be fine.
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: Second off season needs to be focused on getting a
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: wr one in an edge one ye with that third
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: three seasons. Three years ago, Houston was thriving and everyone
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: was head over heels with Stroud. Now a few days
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: ago at the Combine, their GM had to tell reporters
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: they weren't going to trade him this offseason. They've gone
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: backwards a lot in the last few years. How do
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: we protect Drake's development and avoid slipping back like Houston.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: It's a good question. I mean, you don't want that regression, Darling,
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: But maybe Stroud wasn't good at that good to begin with.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: I think Stroud split with his OC right was it
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: Lowick and they got there he left like I think,
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: you keep things stable and you keep Josh McDaniels, and
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: you keep the nucleus you have. I think that's one
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: of the issues of Mac Jones. He went through three coordinators.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: Keep the coordinator. Yeah, he showed success with it. That's
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: how you keep them wrong.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: Lastly, today's my thirty second birthday. O. Happy birthday, Mike
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: and Winchester. I've come to realize I've now been listening
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: to you guys for half of my life. First time
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: I found PFW was after the twenty twelve playoff loss.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: Is there any way I can get a T shirt?
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: I won one during the Trivia Conscience two years ago,
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: but I received an excel instead of a small medium
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: I asked for, and as a result haven't been able
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: to wear it.
- 1:46:36Speaker 12: Matt.
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: So, Matt, we had left? Oh, I just oh, I
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: have a box. I have tons of them now, Yeah,
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: but the ones in my office are just Excels, I think.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: But get the man a T shirt?
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: We got you?
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: Do you have the email? Yes? I have this, all right,
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: So get Mike and Winchester.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: You shall receive all right, Um, got some mediums upstairs.
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: So this is a good question. And you just mentioned
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: Brian Thomas junior Claudio in Brazil. Which wide receiver gives
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: the best chance to win in twenty twenty six between A. J.
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: Brown and Brian Thomas Junior.
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: I say, A J.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: Brown, Yeah, assuming you can keep everybody. Yeah, yeah, Kieran
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: rights in from London. Oh, by the way, they announced
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: the London games, and there's a chance that we could
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: play there because.
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: It would be Jacksonville that cash up again, right.
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: Right, because we did play Jacksonville there already, right.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: We could also do Germany hypothetically, right.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: Well, Munich is still on the table as a home
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: or away away. We can't be a home.
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: Do you want to be a home team internationally this year?
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: No? Nope, So it could it could happen.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: This is quite like we'd be an away team in Germany.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: But it's it's our market right.
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: Right, so right, so yeah, we would still do a
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: lot of stuff there. Karen says, love listening to you guys,
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: blah blah blah. Intrigued by Mike Reese's comments about Brian
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: Thomas being a potential trade candidate or target, a respected
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: quality journalist journalists like Mike does not come up with
- 1:48:13Speaker 3: that name out of nowhere. Yeah, would love for us
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: to trade for Thomas or A J.
- 1:48:17Speaker 8: Brown.
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: What would be the most you would trade for either
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: of them. In terms of draft picks.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: It's interesting because the first is so late.
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: See, I would try to get you know, creative. Yeah,
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: you know, like move into like next year maybe yeah,
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: you know, because you make the case to the team, Hey,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: we'll probably be yeah, we're gonna probably be better next year.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: We've got a tough schedule this year, you're going to
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: get the thirty first. Next year a second rounder could
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: be you know, much higher in the second round.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: Or you never know what these trades because I think
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: when Hopkins left the Cardinals didn't get traded for like
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: a third, So like everybody's like, oh, this might be
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: a first, but then oh it's a third and a player. Yep,
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: I do that, So yep, it's interesting. But I think
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: the first, it would be a first. They'd want to first,
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: just knowing that our first is late, so you got
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: think of it as a fanly, Oh it's just a second, yeah, yep.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: Uh. Do you guys think with the depth and edge
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: in the draft that it may shift players down the
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: board as teams think they can wait to draft an edge,
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: So that raises the possibility of waiting till Day two
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: to get one and perhaps using our first round pick
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: to draft a position that might have slightly less depth.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: Kind of depends where the run happens.
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: Once one or two go, they're all just gonna go
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: like hotcakes.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: Yep, yep, let's see Chris from New Hampshire. Typically I
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: write in assaulting callers. However, I'm taking a break from
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: my noble crusade to address a major concern I have
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: about this offseason, and that's the that the scouting department
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: has been banned from UNC. Being denied access to that
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: star studded powerhouse I fear will lead to a disastrous draft.
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: Why is no one talking about this? Neither Wolf nor
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: Vrabel were even asked about this at the combine. It's
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: a good point. I know he's only kidding. I know
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: he's only kidding, But I think the ban was lifted.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Hope, So was it?
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: I think so? Jack In and Arbor says, Fred is right.
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: The Patriots need a number one receiver, But what the
- 1:50:27Speaker 3: Patriots need more is to fix their offensive line. The
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: Patriots should use their first round pick on an offensive lineman.
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: The Patriots may need to wait until twenty twenty seven
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: to get their number one receiver certainly if you're looking
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: for the draft. I don't think you're going to get
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: a number one receiver in the draft. I really don't,
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: at least not where we pick.
- 1:50:47Speaker 14: It.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: Just it stinks as a fan, like and it's happened before,
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: Like you wait all this time for football and then
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: you take a guard or a tackle.
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: It's just well, what do you think? I mean, you
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: can't sit here and say you know you need to
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: make the line better and then not do anything. Be
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: unhappy if they pick a guard at thirty one. You
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: know you can't say both things.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: Hey, I might just be scarred from our previous guard
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: we took.
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: But right, you just get to get the right one. Everyone,
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: you gotta get the right one. But assuming that you do,
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: I won't complain if they pick a guard at thirty one.
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: At thirty one, but yeah, all right. But also you
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: want to know what stinks is that when we made
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: that trade with Strange, we did the trade back. We
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: passed over Tyler Tyler Lindabough I know, and now he's no.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: They affed up. They took the wrong guy and they
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: paid too much for him. If you Strange in the
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: fourth round, no one would be saying anything.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Were going to do.
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: Yeah, let me tell you something. I don't care what
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: mcsha McVeigh said. Afterwards, they were laughing at us under
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: the clip. They were laughing at us for taking him
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: in the first round. No disrespectacle, strange, great guy. I
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: hope he has a long career in the NFL, but
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: he wasn't a first round talent.
- 1:52:00Speaker 5: I agree we screwed up, we did.
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: You know, I don't think he's upset, he's generational wealth,
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: he's all good.
- 1:52:06Speaker 8: Yeah, you know.
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: They were laughing at us, and deservedly, so, yeah, we
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: just can't do that again. But pick the right guard
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: at thirty one. I I'll be fine with that. Plug
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: him in to your point, to your point. Now you've
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: got a rookie again next to two, right, so you
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: got that same problem.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: Yeah you know, yeah, no, it's uh, it's Russ. But
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: if you got to make the pick, do it. I
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: just would rather have it be a mid round pick
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: for a guard.
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: Yeah, so I hate doing this game, but like, what
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: position would you pick at thirty one?
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: Edge edge edge or if and listen, I haven't done
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: all my my draft research yet, but like if that
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: if it's something like the kid from Oregon. The tight
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: end drops like, I'd take that in a heart beat.
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: So best position level other than quarterback?
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: Yeah really this year? Honestly, I trade the pick. I
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: try to make the trade and get okay, trade down up?
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Or do I just trade yeah? If you're getting all
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: the way thirty one, i'd trade down yeah, or you
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: try to get the vet through.
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: Yeah. The only way to trade up is bundle in.
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: Yeah, which I don't think there's any lot of assets.
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: Probably in twenty twenty seven, and you don't want to
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: do that yet.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: Well, if if aj Brown is available for your first
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: in your fourth, yeah or your third, yeah, do it.
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, money, you're not trading up, you're trading out, yes,
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: trading out, trading out, trading out.
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: Edge and tight end are two needs that by all
- 1:53:34Speaker 6: accounts very deeped in talent in this class. So just
- 1:53:37Speaker 6: hopefully it works out like it did last year for them.
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: And yeah, the guy they want is there when they
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: need him.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go back to the ag. It's not it.
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: It's just a hotline, unsponsored hot line sponsorship listening. We
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: need How many times do I mention the hotline every show?
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: Why doesn't it have a sponsor. Oliver is in Denver.
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: What's up, Oliver? Oliver?
- 1:54:03Speaker 16: Yes, Yeah, Hype Patriots filtered crew checking in a bit
- 1:54:07Speaker 16: late off seasons idea. I was trying to rack my
- 1:54:11Speaker 16: head with the Warriors call that Rabel was putting out
- 1:54:16Speaker 16: the team, And the best answer I've got for it
- 1:54:20Speaker 16: is that he was trying to pull out the Warriors
- 1:54:23Speaker 16: of the Patriots. So he knew he was the guy
- 1:54:28Speaker 16: that was trying to entice the Warriors to come out
- 1:54:32Speaker 16: to fight. And that's the best answer that I got
- 1:54:35Speaker 16: for the Warriors change.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: So right, okay, So I mean that's plausible because I
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: know there was some pushback on the Warriors because in
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: the movie.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Warriors right lose, right, what they lose?
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: It's these other guys that are being hunted by the Warriors.
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: Ye no, no, no, wait, so Warriors come out to play.
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: The bad guys were saying that about the.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Warriors, who were the underdogs.
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: The Warriors were the underdogs and they ended up winning.
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: But the guys saying Warriors come out to play were
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: the guys who lost. So this pushback in the Patriots
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: and mccollins of Rabel's saying Warriors come out to play
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: because in the movies, the gang that says that lost,
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: which kind of what happened with us. But but I
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: think I think what Oliver is saying might be plausible.
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: Like he was saying, warriors this time of year, come
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: out to play, you know, and he was you know,
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: you heard him many times saying that this Big Dogs
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: come out in January. You know. But there's not a
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: movie called Big Dogs.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: You can't do that.
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: It's a terrible movie. I was. I was old enough
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: to see it in the theater. It was schmall sy
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: it was. It was awful.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: Really, Oh yeah, would described like this cult classic.
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: I mean, it's kind of so bad. That's why it's
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: a cult classic.
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: When you saw you you thought it was gonna be
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: good because you saw in theaters.
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah. Back then, you went to the movies
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: every week. Yeah, you know. That was a thing to
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: do as a kid. You go to the movies. Now
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: do you go, Well, you're kid, you're not really kids anymore.
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: But I love high school.
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: My high schoolers go to the movie theater.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:56:15Speaker 6: I used to love to every week, if not twice
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: a week. My friends five dollars Tuesdays. Oh my god,
- 1:56:21Speaker 6: hit that up all the time.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Good Slate coming this summer. So you go to the
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: Cape Cod Mall, you hang out. They had the theater
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: in the back. You go to the movie theater one
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: Fleet driving. Yes, but I don't know if kids go
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: to the movie theater anymore.
- 1:56:34Speaker 6: Do kids have the attention spans for movies anymore?
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: There are people that watch movies just through TikTok. Yeah,
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: they watched they watched the clips and they just like,
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: like sixty sixty clips.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: That's sad, insane.
- 1:56:45Speaker 8: It is.
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: See it's sad.
- 1:56:46Speaker 6: And now the sad thing is like our movie is
- 1:56:48Speaker 6: going to start being They are like scripts are being
- 1:56:51Speaker 6: written and movies are being produced for those attention spans
- 1:56:54Speaker 6: in mind.
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: It's terrible.
- 1:56:57Speaker 7: I took my kids to the theater last week and
- 1:56:59Speaker 7: it was packed with kids. Okay, what you say, goat
- 1:57:04Speaker 7: basketball movie for kids. Okay, it's like this generation Space jam.
- 1:57:08Speaker 7: Steph Curry's movie Good Good to Know, Good to Know.
- 1:57:14Speaker 7: But you know, it has to be an appreciation of
- 1:57:16Speaker 7: the art.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: There's a lot of work that goes into making a movie.
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: You know. I saw that movie with DiCaprio and Sean
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Penn another.
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: I watched it on the plane. I watched it on
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: the plane of the Super Bowl.
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: Finally, it was great, watch it the way the director
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: intended on the little screen exactly.
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: So did you see Sinners?
- 1:57:35Speaker 8: Yeah? No, not yet.
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: Which one did you like better?
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: I didn see the other one?
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: Okay, One Battle after Another is a better movie.
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: Sinners is just a fun movie.
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think One Battle after Another was a better movie.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's on my list.
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it's worth it.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: It's probably the best movie I've seen in a while.
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: Okay, Sean Penn's unbelievable. He becomes you know, like Paul
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: laughs at me, like I didn't even know that with
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: Sean Penn. He was so acting so well, And Paul
- 1:58:03Speaker 3: always laughs at me when I say things like that,
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: But you know what I mean, like he becomes the character,
- 1:58:09Speaker 3: like it's you know, I thought.
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: The young girl was really good in that too.
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: Oh every biller, but you'll know what I'm talking about
- 1:58:15Speaker 6: the scene on the hill with the car where Shet Yeah,
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: so good.
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: And you know DiCaprio, I think everything he's in as good. Yeah,
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: he's really good.
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: So I just watched Catch Me.
- 1:58:25Speaker 6: If you can recently and I was just like, oh man,
- 1:58:28Speaker 6: this is such a one of the I love that movie,
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: Like it's just so so good and the fact that
- 1:58:33Speaker 6: it's all true story is just great movie.
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: All Right, Well, listen, wouldn't be an off season if
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: we didn't, you know, veer off the course a little.
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: Bit the last five minutes.
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Combine continues. More stuff coming out on Patriots dot
