- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think that's a five casual.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Hey y'all, welcome to today's episode of the Darling Floor Podcast.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Bill Ernest, here today with my guest, Ethan Wolfe.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: What is up?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: It's been a while.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Um we're only on the episode after Darlington, and that was fun.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And then of course, um you went to Gateway the next week, and I proceeded to forget to have an episode, and I'm still kicking myself over that, don't worry.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: But um, of course, you have firsthand experience over Gateway, and we'll we'll reference that a little bit later in the show.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: But first, um, if you would like to voice your opinions on what motorsports should be covered on the podcast, how the format should work, episode length, and more, check out the Throttle 4 podcast survey that's down in the description below this video, and below whatever audio platform that you may be on.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: It's below in the description of every episode, so whatever episode you feel like listening to at that time, you'll see that link.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Um, but on to other news now.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: We'll start with IndyCar.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: They tested at C Ring International Race Day in Florida on Monday and Tuesday with Alex Pelow and Alexander Rossing, the new IR28 car, so it could simulate being on street courses since Crink is very bumpy, and obviously you can't test on a temporary street course in the off season when the street course hasn't isn't having the race that week.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Can't just call up the construction workers and be like, hey, um, can you build Long Beach real quick for the weekend just so we can test on it?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Like, that ain't happening.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: So, but it also completed its first on-track passes.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Both Kyle Kirkwood and Scott McLaughlin were also there.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: They were testing Firestone tires for the current model of car that'll be no longer used after 2027.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And speaking of testing, Pillow is set to help Chipkin Assy Racing with its Indie NXT setups on Friday as for the first time in his career.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Polo will turn laps into Indie NXT car around the Indianapolis Motor Spider Road course.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Kind of surprised he's turning laps into Indian NXT car, but at the same time, if you want anybody testing and developing your cars, um, Polo's a good choice.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: You know, just like the four-time defending IndyCar champion.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: No question.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Might as well.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Um also NASCAR announced today that Cup Series teams are allowed to replace front brake prads and rotors after breakfast and qualifying, make it in a Phoenix raceway this weekend.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: If they so choose, this comes after five cars, had brake rotor failures, and an 18 caution wreck fest at Gateway last month, and other flat, mid-size track like Phoenix's, of course, Ethan and um Zane, who's not on the episode right now, but of course they have firsthand experience on how much of a wreckfest Gateway was.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Man, at some point we would literally have said, like, there's there were more cautions than actual green flag laps during the stage and felt like.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Pretty much, yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's five cautions in stage one alone.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Like, but me personally, I did not I did not see like the same smack accidents and other fucking concessions, but I saw it.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: We were so confused when uh when Lane said what the heck just happened, and then like once I saw him like rubbing up against the wall, oh that was cool, wasn't it?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say, I mean, Gateway and Phoenix are really the two tracks that we go to on the schedule where brakes are like an insane, like a major problem, a major storyline.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, I guess you could throw Martinsville in there too.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Really those three tracks, but um the prop the big problem was remember they switched the um short track package from 670 horsepower to 750 horsepower, so you have more speed going into the corners, which of course, more speed going into the corner, you need more brake to stop or slow down to go actually go through the corner properly.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: And that much more strenuous on the brakes just blew out that many more brake rotors.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: So definitely would have been a big issue, and not just even not just even in the issue in the years past, but it's people playing failure, like no one racing or backable that will buy bracing is the only one I can think of.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I remember um Bell had a brake rotor failure at Phoenix in the championship, I think either in 23 or no, I think it was twenty-four.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: I think was when it was.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: But brake rotors are definitely an issue when we come to a like a mid-size flat track like Phoenix or Gateway or even um the flat paper clip in Martinsville, but I don't think we've seen brake froder brake failures as much as we did like at Gateway last month, and I mean that has to do with the horsepower change.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad NASCAR's allowing them to replace front brake pads and rotors, even though it's like an inpound.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It's like an inpound um practice and qualifying, but they're still allowing them to change them, so that's good.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Why don't we still have like six brake failures?
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: We'll keep a counter for this week, yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, we'll keep a counter for sure.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Uh anyways, um we know that for Days of Thunder 2, over 80 cars will be produced for the movie that's set to come out in June of 2028.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: But Tom Cruise trying to run an Arca race.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, I applaud the realism, but I don't know.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: That that'd be something.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're gonna run on the show.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: I legitimately thought that article was a clickbait.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's the right thing.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I said I thought it was clickbait too.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Like we we've seen some crazy names um drive an arca car before.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I mean you'd think, oh, well, if Cletus can drive an ARCA car, then Tom Cruise can drive an ARCA car.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well the difference is is Tom Cruise hasn't run anything since SECA in 1989.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I think also he tested a bush car then for the filming of the first movie, which came out 36 years ago.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: So yeah, versus like Cletus, like, you know, he owns the Freedom Factory, he's been in drag racing for years now, and it definitely was an adjustment to getting the Arca car and the truck and the Aurelius car, but like he's at least got Arca underneath him.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: I mean he was damn close to winning a Taladega back in the spring.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: So Yeah, yeah, I definitely think, yeah, obviously I think a big help for her was really bringing up a little money and somebody like him alongside him teaching him like huge.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Well that was his whole inspiration to begin with, because um his goal is still to run the Daytona 500 and then Biffle was talking about running an ARCA and running in the developmental series, you know, to work up to that obviously.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: But I wanna say um I wanna say they had planned at Taladega in the spring for Biffle to run an ARCA car as well before um before the plane crash last December.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: I can't believe it's already been almost a year since then.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: It's rough.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Damn.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: But I don't know.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm not saying Tom Cruise shouldn't run an Arca car, but like surprising and unexpected.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: It depends on what track, in my opinion.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Like if he like if he wants to go run at Phoenix, yeah, sure, whatever.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Go run at Phoenix, why not?
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Like, that's just Phoenix.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: But like if he tries to be like, oh, I'm gonna run at Daytona during the f during um the Arca race on Saturday, and it's like eh, that's a little much.
- 8:06unknown: Yeah.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And speaking of Arca, they released their full 2027 schedule with 20 dates, including four in the state of Illinois.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: That pisses me off as a former I wanna.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Just kidding, just kidding.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: I don't really care.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Um, this means I'm gonna have to catch one for a mistake this year.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: I gotta catch at least one, right?
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, for sure.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Being you are from the state of Illinois.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Um Gayway's back on the Arca schedule.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: They dropped Pocono off of it, and then of course you have Chicago and coming back along with the two dirt tracks with Springfield and DeCoy.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Um, interestingly, they moved Springfield to like, I want to say like Sunday, Oct or August 8th, I think is when it is.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but what's crazy is Bristol, they're they're racing at Bristol that Thursday.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: So it's like a three-day turnaround to go from the dirt mile at Springfield to Bristol.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: It's just a crime.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Especially since they have an off week the previous week.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Like, just run Springfield then.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Like, it's not hard.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: It's like a three-day turnaround to go to Bristol.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: But I don't know, that's really my only major, like, legitimate gripe about the schedule.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Um, Kansas once again is the only track that appears on the schedule twice, as per usual.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Um, Ford's new 2027 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC appeared at a Goodyear tire test at Charlotte earlier this week.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Zane Smith was confirmed that um drove that car, and Austin Dylan for Chevrolet and Eric Jones for Toyota.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: They also participated in that test as well.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Ford's new car set the debut of the 2027 Day Tona 500.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: It seems like Ford's always changing their car every couple years, because um they came out with the new Ford Mustang, and then they went with the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, I think, in 24, and now they're trying to come out with the Mustang Dark Horse SC.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Like, at this rate it's gonna be like 2030 introducing the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Daytona.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: This is slap Daytona at the end of it.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: I mean that's what they did back in the old days.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: You have the Doz Charger Daytona with the Wing Superbird to complete with uh Plymouth Superbird, so I don't know.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: But whatever whatever makes Ford more competitive, I guess.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: I mean I'll say this.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Ford has looked better this year, just in general, because normally it seems like the past few years it's been like a broken record.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Just where's Ford?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Where's Ford?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: They don't win for half the year, and then like, oh, they win in the playoffs, and oh look at that, Penskey wins the championship again.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: But of course, you know, this year you got the chase, so obviously you can't have that.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: But it seems like Ford has just been better.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, Blaney's got does he have just the two wins?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: He might just have the two wins.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Unless he I I think it's just the two.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Unless I might just be two, maybe three, three, somewhere in that range.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no, no, it's three, because I was thinking I knew about Spring Phoenix and I knew about summer Atlanta, but then uh New Hampshire as well.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: It's still a good season for Blade.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and Logano has three wins too, because he won at um Wilkesboro, Richmond, and Bristol.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: So and Cindricks looked good lately, even as well, because he ripped off two straight top fives on the mile and a halves, and probably honestly should have done the third at Charlotte, and then he ended up 14th, but even Cindrix looked better lately.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: And then like RFK, um, I mean Busher's been nowhere, and Brad's done nothing.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: And now of course Brad's leaving, but Priest got the win at the Clash, and then his first actual points paying win at uh Summer Daytona.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: So Ford's been better.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Ford has been better.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Chevy, um, particularly Hendrick, for a while they had been nowhere in existence, aside from Elliott's two wins at Spring Martins on Texas, but then of course Larson um ripped off um wins at Gateway in Kansas, and now he's got the points lead.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: So Yeah, I feel like I feel like the Chevy's are kind of pulling what the Fords did last year.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: They've been they playing, they haven't really been up there for most of the season.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: They were still winning races, but they weren't really up there like the expected one where James Larson's kinda come out of nowhere.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, at first we thought Larson would never win again, and now it's like, well, hey, Larson's gonna go out and win the championship now, isn't he?
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Already penciling his name on the Bill Fernance Cup already, like I don't know.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I said Briscoe was my dark horse pick for the championship, and he he's doing pretty well right now, but I mean you said Bell was the dark horse pick for the championship, and he's also doing pretty well right now, so who knows, but more on that later.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Um speaking of next year's Day Tonal 500, Dodge supposedly is nearing a return to the Cup Series for the 500 on February 21st with power from ECR engines from Richard Shields Racing.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: If Dodge does come back, it'll be the first time they've been in the Cup Series since the finale at Homestead in 2012 when Dodge won the title with Brad Kozowski when he was at Team Penske.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Damn, a lot of things have changed since then.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I I still find it crazy that Penskey left Dodge and went to Ford in 2013, right after they won a championship with Dodge.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: I that still had scratcher.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then Brandon had like had a terrible season.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: For a for a championship season, you had a terrible season.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: That was probably one of the worst.
- 14:07unknown: Yeah.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I hope Dodge comes back really for the live high birth this year, because I want I've already seen more people come in combat while I always imagine the channels are I mean it's already good with the truck series when you got all the colleague Rams with the five Ram trucks that they got, and then it's like you throw Dodge back in the Cup series, and it's like it's just more manufacturer support, more competition, more options to choose from, especially for some of the back markers that are stuck on like the third or fourth level of manufacturer support.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: So um obviously Colleague would be um the main Dodge team for sure.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: They are they have the five Ram trucks, but I'm trying to think of somebody else who could possibly switch to Dodge.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Um we don't have a little team I can think of at this point, even if it is a video stretch for legacy, potentially.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, I know it's a good idea.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: It could be Toyota's not too long ago, or any same uh uh performance things anyone potentially between game or not a job.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say Haas.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, that could be.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: But their single car they could they could jump ship, just run Dodges, because why not?
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Um for a while before um Brad burnt his bridge with not only um RFK, but also I think Ford as an entire manufacturer, I was thinking that RFK maybe could switch to Dodge, but of course that's out the window now.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: I hope Dodge does come back, but we'll see.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Time will tell.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Um but moving on now.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: High limit was at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City this past weekend.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: To be honest, I thought Rico Apert had his second straight title in the bag as Geo Selzi and Aaron Reitzel were 116 and 117 points back.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Rico only needed a hundred and five point advantage after Lakeside declined.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: But boy did that get thrown out the window.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Friday, Reitzel won for the 11th time this year, and with Selzi finishing third and Rico only 12th, that cut Reitzel and Selzi's gaps down to 89 and 97 points respectively.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: But Saturday is where everything hit the fan.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Selzy led all 30 laps from the pole after winning the dash and won the feature just his second win of the season after winning a poor royal back at the Bob Weiker Memorial back in July for$100,000.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Reitzel on the lap seven restart tried to go immediately to the cushion, despite even it being before the restart zone.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: I have no clue why he wasn't penalized for that.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: And turns out it backfired as he ran over Tanner Holmes' right rear tire, which sent Reitzel and others behind him flipping wildly into turn one.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Reitzel would end up 18th, but as it turns out, that would end his season.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: As Reitzel's not medically cleared to compete at the finale this weekend at the Texas North Philly Dirt Track.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Reitzel will instead use Highland's medical provisional, which will ultimately keep him third in points to end the year.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: The provisional allots for your average finish plus five spots with Reitzel having an 8.18 average finish.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: This gives him 13th place piece or points for the final two events of the year or 94 points.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Reitzel has no chance to catch Selzi for second and no chance of Tyler Courtney catching him for third, so Reitzel will finish the year third in points with 11 victories.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: And on top of all that, under the red flag for the huge wreck that ended Reichel's season, Rico ended up getting disqualified and receiving last place feature points for refueling his car in the work area.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Per the high limit rule book, adding fuel, whether on the track or in the work area, will not be permitted when yellow flag and or closed red flag conditions exist.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Violators are subject to disqualification andor fine and or suspension andor any other action deemed appropriate by high limit officials.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: So Rico making this championship battle very interesting with his DQ.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Of course, Selzy won, like we mentioned, um actually only ended up winning by just over a tenth of a second over Dayson Persley in second, who's ripped off three straight high limit podiums.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: I feel like Pursley would have won that race had he had another two or his relapse because Selzy was stuck in traffic.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: But Selzy held out hold held on for the win, and his points gap down to just 45 points behind Rico with all-in championship weekend at Texas this weekend to decide the high limit championship.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: It's less than like a race's worth of points, although Rico's still definitely in the driver's seat.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Um more on that later at the end of the show.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: But on to Charlotte now in the trucks, it was another Lane Riggs masterclass as he sliced his way up from 13th at the start to ultimately blast Caden Honeycut for the win with seven laps to go for a seventh man of the year, 12th career win, and a sweep of Charlotte after winning their back in May as well.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Christian Eckis would finish second, passing Honeycut with six to go, who would ultimately finish third.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Bailey Curry in another one-off in Tricon's five track finished second at Bristol last month, ended up finishing fourth at Charlotte.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: So good for him.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: And Chandler Smith completing the top five.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: But with Riggs passing Honeycutt for the win, Honeycutt's lead over Riggs is down to just 17 points with four races to go.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Smith is 77 back, and Eckett's at their back-to-back runner-up finishes is 88 back, but our updated picks and standings, which are even tighter, I still lead the points by just 19 over Evan, 38 over Haley, 62 over Stacey, so we're all within a race's worth of points.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Noah's 229 back, Saints 279 back, Bernardo's 281 back.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: Ethan, you're 321 back, but you won with Lane Riggs.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: You finally got a win.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: You finally got triple.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: First win in any three series this year.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: I was due eventually.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Um I picked Daniel Henrik, ended up sixth, just a nice quiet night.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Um I knew he would had good speed on the mile and a halves.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Henrick finished, I believe, seventh at Texas and then uh fourth at Kansas a couple weeks ago.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: So I knew he was good on the mile and a half, and he was good on the mile and a half again, and it extends my points lead by five points.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: But Haley chops out 16 points out of her deficit with Chandler Smith in fifth.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Evan with Justin Haley, a solid tenth, solid tenth for the Ram program as well.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: Speaking of which, who knows if the Dodge comes back to cup?
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: But even if they don't, Coleg at least has something to build on with Ram in the trucks.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Um Stacy with Ben Rhodes in 21st, just meh.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Same thing with Noah with Luke Ballin in 22nd.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: Zane with Cole Butcher in 18th, just just meh.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: Like they didn't really do anything.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: They didn't they didn't cause a wreck, they didn't wreck themselves, just meh, just meh finishes.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: But of course, Ethan with the win.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Technically, technically, nobody's eliminated in the championship, which is weird to say with four races to go.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: But also technically there's a world where half of us could get eliminated after Phoenix next week.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: But it depends.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Um Ethan, you'd basically have to win again to not get eliminated.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Um didn't I think you picked Henry.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: I think.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Hemrical, I think that was my pick, yeah.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you did pick.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: I don't know if he'll get me a win, but uh that's the one.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Well he has Will he well his one his one O'Reilly's win won him the twenty twenty one O'Reilly's championship at Phoenix, which obviously it's a different car, but yeah, that's something.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: Something is better than nothing.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: But in O'Reilly, speaking of which, after The race was pushed till Sunday night after the cup race due to Hurricane.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Um, not Carson Hosovar grow up.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Um, it was Corey Day making a three-wide pass for the league with 10 to go to claim his second straight O'Reilly's series win, chopping his points deficit from 92 back before Las Vegas to just seven back in the process of winning back-to-back races at Vegas and Charlotte.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: I thought our truck points were tight.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: The real life O'Reilly's points, my goodness, they are tight.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: I feel like fans focus also on the L and yes, that should take some should be.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: But I feel like just this season's general season is now two points like each other.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: 15 points, yeah.
- 22:50unknown: Yeah.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Well, all guy are created now James, which incredible stuff the last time he's got a handle.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: But yeah, that should be a very, very, very interesting to make your battle.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: And even with Clapple, with his sub-30th up to that cut tire, he's still like 40 points back.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: And Mayer, even after I think he had a flat tire, I think, late, and finished outside the top 20, and I believe he's still within like a race's worth of points.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Mind you, Lars, the gap from Larson Hamlin first to second is 49 points.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: So like just the gap between first and second in cup points is the same between first and fifth in the O'Reilly's points.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: So that just shows you how tight it is.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: But Jesse Lovewood, the dominant car for much of the night, finished second.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Uh Sheldon Creed made a last slap pass for third on Justin Algar finished fourth.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: And Carson Brown, after winning the Winchester 400 on Saturday night, thanks to the O'Reilly's race being infected and pushed to Sunday night by the hurricane that rolled third, ends up finishing fifth in just his second career O'Reilly series start.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: RCR picked up a good driver.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: Because we know that Carson Brown's going to replace Jesse Love next year at RCR in the two-car as Love goes to the Wood Brothers.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: And of course, um Austin Hill in the 21.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: He's going uh to the 33 full-time and cup next year.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: But second O'Reilly start, and you finish top five.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: That's that's something.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: I don't care who you are.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that kind of has some serious potential.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think it could be even in the same attitude that we didn't even see as he loved to go to the championship, albeit he absolutely not gone championship in that two car, but he's still a champion nonetheless, and he's done some he's done some very good things with that Joe's.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: So I can only imagine what you'd get someone like Carson Brown behind him to it.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, say what you will about the format.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Last year and the year before that, and like ten years before that, but the playoffs are the playoffs, and it's a good thing we're done with them now, because I'm glad that they brought back the chase.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: And I mean, you think about it, first and second in truck points, it's 17 points.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: First to fourth in O'Reilly's points is 15 points, and yeah, Cup is a little wider gap, but I mean, Cup's still coming down to the wire.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: And I mean, imagine we'd be talking about the playoffs, okay?
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Like, we'd be talking about Briscoe in the round of eight right now.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: And nobody, nobody would be talking about the O'Reilly series the way they are because like this this type of battle that we've got going for there, that's what makes this one.
- 25:35unknown: And that's what I would want and nobody knows.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be literally win thirty-five-five other races if you lose now one for a second you lose.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: Like Yeah, that's the worst part about that format.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: You could technically win the first 35 races, finish second the last one, and still lose the championship.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: But I mean, just even like focusing on that simpler, like Corey Days won back-to-back races, so we'd just be talking about, oh, Corey Days on the round of eight.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Who's gonna win it um who's gonna win at Phoenix?
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: Which technically Phoenix would be the start of the the start of the round of eight, if you will.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: So it's like, oh, who's gonna make it to the championship four?
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: Like who got eliminated after the round of eight?
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Like, we wouldn't be talking about how such a tight actual points battle it would be because back in the playoffs when we're like there wasn't really actual points on the line.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: It was all reset and crap.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: But I'm glad they moved away from it.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: Um I like that I like that they're not actually like manufacturing a battle.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: And how it be it's just naturally happening.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: I've said there are like five commands that are within 40 points of each other in Riley series.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: It's ridiculous.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's not perfect, obviously.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: We're not talking Winston Cup points, but at the same time, we're never going back to that, so this is the best we're gonna get.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: But in terms of the I feel like if we don't go back to full Winston Cup points, like if you never if we never go back to that, I feel like this is the leaders we're gonna get.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: But in terms of the actual rallies points, Creed leaves Love by just two points, day after his back-to-back wins by just seven points, like we mentioned, Augier by 15 points.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: However, one thing you didn't hear was Carson Quappel, the pole sitter, came into Charlotte 19 points back in second, but cut right rear tire.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Quapple ended up 32nd, now just sits fifth in points, 40 back of Creed for the lead, our updated picks and standings.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: I lead Stacey by 60, Haley by 178, Evan by 388, Bernardo by 560, Noah by 682, Zayn by 699, Ethan.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: You've had such bad luck in our rallies.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: I feel bad for you.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: 823 back, you picked Quapple, thinking you were all good to go, and has a cut regular tire and ends up 32nd, but hey, you got the pole.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Swap at one point.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: I'm surprised even that.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, true.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: Um I picked Alguier, ended up fourth, fled 54 laps.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: I was you know, Algayer had the best car in the long run until the last run, and then something just I don't know if they made a wrong adjustment or if Love and Day made a better adjustment.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it also didn't help that they kind of had a close starter at the end where Love and Day were clearly on the city.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: I think that were better than Craig was absolutely nowhere in this race and then ends up third.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: That's always how he seems to do it.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Just comes up out of nowhere.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: Like hides in the back of the pack all day.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: They uh Adam Alexander even said it.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: He kind of just hides in the back of the pack and then comes up out of nowhere to get a top five.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Um Evan with Sammy Smith ends up 16th, just a quiet day.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: It knocks him out in terms of our points.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: Um Haley with Austin Hill ends up seventh, just meh, much more quieter than Jesse Love, which Stacy picked love.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: Um ends up second, leads the most laps, leads 80 laps, gets the fastest lap as well.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: No with Garrett Smith lead just a meh 29th.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Ethan, we mentioned you with Kwop 132nd, Zayn with Anthony Alfredo, just a solid eighth, solid eighth place for Viking Motorsports, but I don't know.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to feel about Viking Motorsports.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: It's like they've been good, but it's like okay, like at first they'd get a top ten, it's like, whoa, they got a top ten, and now it's just like okay, we kinda almost expect top tens now, so it's like where's the race winning speed?
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: Where's the lap leading speed?
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: I definitely feel like that win is is coming for Viking Motorsports either sooner or later.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, it could come a top later.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they definitely could.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, we all talk about Anthony Alfredo, and rightfully so.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: He's made the foil uh.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he he made the chase.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he made the chase.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: At least leading into the chase.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: He's he's been at no-show in the chase, but yeah, leading into the chase in the regular season is he's really good.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's not for a lack of trying, it's just, you know, he's he's been there, but he's that's the that's a double-edged sword.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: He's he's just been there.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: Versus, yeah, I know when you're stacked.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's got back to back wins.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, when you're stacked up against Alexo Childrush, Jr., uh Haas Factory, and now even handwrecking it.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: Like when you're stacked up against that, really not much you can do.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: I want to say it's the first time that um Hendricks O'Reilly's program's gotten back-to-back wins since the late KB in I think 2004, I believe.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: So it was 44.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: It's been a while.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but on the cup side of things, Kyle Larson, he led early with him and Christopher Bell splitting the first two stages as Denny Hamlin suffered a safety violation on pit road, on top of being boxed in his pit stall by Connor Zilich, so that didn't help.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: We saw Ty Gibbs have a toe link go away in turn three that could have been a bad wreck, and then we saw a really bad wreck with Alex Bowman.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: He got loose in turn two and then smashed into Bubba while us T-boating him at the exit of turn two.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Bubba, he hit the scary part, he hit rear end first in the outside wall, and then spun into the inside wall and hit rear first again.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: And we know that in the next gen card, the rear of these cars have been very sketchy to say the least.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Um it's ironic that uh the other guy in the rep was Alex Bowman, who has seen that effect uh more than more than almost anybody other than I'd argued Kerr Bush.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: And I mean the track safety team, the track safety team, they had a stretcher ready for Bubba, but thankfully he was able to walk off under his own power.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, I remember watching the race and I'm like, why'd they go to commercial so suddenly?
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: Because I watched that wreck live, and I'm like, you know what?
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: There's there's probably something bad going on when they normally go to commercial just straight away, just straight to black, and yeah, they had a stretcher out, and I'm like, uh-oh, that not screw.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: But and then he was able to walk away, and then at first I thought he had a concussion, but I don't know.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: I think he was just really shaken up.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: Because I mean NASCAR has done a really good job at strengthening the rear of these cars, because I mean if this was 2022, Bubba would have a concussion.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I mean that wrecked looked harder than Kirkbush's wreck at Pocono, but then again, at the same time, we thought Kurt Bush's wrecked at Poco was just meh, but the problem is is um there was no crushability in the rear of the car, and so all the energy, it doesn't go to crushing in the rear of the car, it goes straight to the driver.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: So like Boba's car looked vicious in the rear because it crushed in, but at the same time that's a good thing because there's adequate crush zone in the rear of the car that dissipates some of the energy.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: And of course, the wall does some of that too with the safer barrier.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, can you imagine if we had like it'd be such a deadly combination if we had 2022 next gen with how stiff and rigid it was with plain concrete walls?
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: That would be awful.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: That would have gone very very fast.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm glad we don't live in that world.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I'm glad that NASCAR cares about safety.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: But after all that, it was Chase Briscoe winning two in a row the third time uh this year that he's won after uh Chicago and then of course Vegas last week, and then um his eighth career win by just a fender over Bell, and the second closest finish ever is Charlotte behind only, of course, the 2005 Coca-Cola 600.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: And it's the closest finish in the Cup series this year.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: We have not had a lot of close finishes, oddly enough.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I think this is the first finish um under a tenth of a second, even.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: Like, it really has not been that close at all.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think this year.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: It's one of the first finishes this year that like when you looked at it from that angle on TV, like it like I know it was really personally.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: I looked at the code telling one.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, once they showed a different area, yeah, Briscoe won.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: I knew Briscoe, I knew Briscoe won it, but I'm like, uh, like it's close.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, Briscoe won it.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Like I I I can tell.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: Twenty-nine thousandths of a second.
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: I want to say the O5 code to turn it was twenty-eight thousandths of a second, so pretty close to beating the record.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but it's weird, it's like we've normally been spoiled with close finishes and this and that, and it's like we just haven't had that this year.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: That's not to say finishes haven't been exciting, it's just we haven't had super nailed biting close finishes like we've had in years past.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but Bell in second, Blaney in third, Josh Barry fourth.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is about Josh Barry.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: It's like as soon as he was announced that he was leaving the Wood Brothers, he's just been on a tear.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, he ripped off like I think seven, I think it was seven straight top tens, would have had another one in Gateway, um, had he not gotten caught up in that wreck.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: Ethan, of course, you know that all too well, because you picked Barry that race.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Um, I was in attendance as well.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that too.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: You also do know the first hand experience.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Denny Hamlin came back to finish fifth after the safety violation in stage one, but ended up losing nine points of ground to Larson and finished in sixth.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: Larson still leads the points by 49 over Hamlin, 51 over Bell, and by 65 over Briscoe after his second straight victory.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: I said that at the top of the show, Briscoe was my championship dark horse pick.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: It wasn't looking good at the start of the chase, being that um he had the wreck at Dayway in particular, which wasn't even his fault, but I mean, two straight wins now.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: He's back with an under a races gap with four races to go, so we'll see.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: And I mean, his first career win was at Phoenix in the spring of 22.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Granted, that was um Stuart Haas, but still.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: He's the defending winner of the Fall Talladega race from last year, and I mean, we know how good he's been on mile and a half this year, and we still got Homestead coming at the end of the year, so I definitely think that there's a strange that the field needs to capitalize on to close that gap in points of wars and it's now because in terms of Phoenix, aside from aside from his win in the 2021 championship, he hasn't really had a ton of success there.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: I mean he's been okay, but like he hasn't been jaw driving.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: And of course, Teladega.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Telodega, yeah.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: That's a wild card for everybody.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: And kind of the same thing at one expand, but it hasn't been like uh top level.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: So I would say like if Lady and Horse Group, if they want to get a lot of game, it's gotta be especially with Home Storm not being the worst industry.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: And Hamlin too, you can throw Hamlin in there too.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: I mean he's got I think he's got like two or three wins at Tal that he's got a course six at Martinsville, of course last year at Phoenix is where he had the championship in the bag, and then it just gone.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: So um I don't know.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: I feel like Hamlin is just reeling though, because I mean like Vegas, one of his best tracks, spun by himself, pushed himself too hard, ended up 16th.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Charlotte, I mean, he still came back and finished fifth, but um had the safety violation in stage one.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: Just dumb mistakes that Hamlin's committing, and I don't know.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: I will say this though.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: It's been a trend for the past few years now that the regular season champ has gone winless the next year.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Elliot won the regular season champ in 2022, winless the next year.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: Granted, snowboard accident, but still.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: 23, True X won the regular season championship, and then he went winless the next year.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: In fact, he retired the next year.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: Um 2024 it was Redick who won the regular season championship, and then went winless the next year.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: And then this year, it's Byron who won the regular season championship, and unless he wins in the last four races, he's gonna go winless again.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: And guess who won the regular season champ this year?
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: Denny Hamlin.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Does he go winless next year?
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, if there's anybody to break the trend, it would be Denny Hamlin.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: But remember, next year's his last year.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: It's the last year of his contract.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: We know he's not renewing the contract.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's really just a matter of just waiting on the official announcement and waiting on who's gonna replace him, probably Brent Cruz, but we know Hamlin's done after next year, so I'm not saying we've seen Hamlin's last win, but could we have seen Hamlin's last win?
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: And it's fitting it'd be a po it's fitting it'd be a poconau because that's where that's his best track across his whole career.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: He's got like seven or eight wins there.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: And I mean he swept Pokeno in 2006 on his rookie year, so like you definitely couldn't see him like a one.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: Um keep stuff going up in the same round.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Uh um yeah, you'd absolutely never go in the last one, like anyways.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, Michael McDowell and Ricky Stenhouse, they had some beef after the checker flag.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Getting into contact with each other, having asked her announced no penalties.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: So good for them, but I don't know.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: I didn't even see what initiated that until after all the race was.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: I saw I saw McDowell spinning Stenhouse, but I didn't see the initial contact till after the race, too.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: But I don't know.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: I'm glad they didn't penalize it.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: I mean it's really just beef, but yeah.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: And I don't think anything will come with it, because I mean McDowell and Stenhouse consistently run outside the top 25 every week, so it's like who cares?
- 40:27SPEAKER_00: It's just a doghouse back there.
- 40:29unknown: Yeah.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: But yeah, anyways, uh updated picks and standings.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: Isolated the cup points by 196 over Haley, 259 over Evan, 416 over Stacy, who got eliminated at Charlotte.
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: Ethan, you're fifth in points, 704 back.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: You got 50 points on Bernardo and then Noah's 778 back.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: Sane's in the basement, 844 back.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: It's weird because it's like normally you're in the basement with speaking towards trucks and arrivals points, but I mean Cup, you're fifth in points, and you'd be third in points if it was over a full season and stuff.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you just had the points I've had in a few years.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: Even with the two straight wins at New Hampshire and Daytona with Plaine Priest, Saints just did nothing else.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: But picks-wise, I picked Danny Hamlin again.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's good he got a top five, but it could have been better.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: Could have not had that safety violation.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: That really hurt.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: That cost me stage points, and I didn't lead also, so that cost me more points there.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: Evan with Bell goes out and finishes second, leads the second most laps.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: Probably honestly could have won that race.
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: I was thinking Bell was gonna win that race basically that whole second half until the last one run when Briscoe took the lead on the last run, and then was looking like he was good, but then ran into traffic traffic with like a two-second lead, and then it didn't help that um he had uh tire going down.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: So it didn't help.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: So yeah, um that really close finish, it was just cause Briscoe had a tire going down.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: It wasn't even really natural.
- 42:18unknown: That would not help.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: That's just the most average cup thing.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: That that really perfectly encapsulates the difference between cups and a cup and O'Reilly's this year.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: It's like O'Reilly's it's like we had a close finish just because it's the O'Reilly series.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: Like, of course you had a close finish, and it's like cup, it's like, oh, we finally have a close finish, and it's like, oh.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: It's cause of the dirty air in traffic, because the era was so garbage on these cars, and then uh Briscoe was having a tire go down.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was now.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: Uh huh.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: Haley with Sorez ended up 13th.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: I really thought Sorez would have been better this weekend coming off as Coke 600 went back in May, but Oh well.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: Stacy with Ross Chastain ends up 16th, kind of the same quiet deal.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, where has Chastain been this year?
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, he hasn't won since the 2025 Coke 600.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: He's been nowhere.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Trackhouse has just been a lot of fun.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: SVG, yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: Noah with Baba Wallace, 37th with the D and F.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: Actually led for once for like the first time since well, okay.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: He's he he's he only led 10 laps at Summer Daytona, and then before that he hadn't led since Michigan back in June.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: So it's like, hooray! Good job you led something.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: Ended up wrecking, though.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: Ended up getting wrecked, but it wasn't his fault.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: And I mean, Freddie Kraft said it himself, Bubba Wall says spotted that if Bubba wasn't there on the outside, Bowman would have had to take in a head on hit into the outside wall, so yeah, we could be talking about Bowman missing the last four races to Morgan.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: So it's a good thing we're not talking about that.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: Ethan, you picked Larson, ended up sixth, um, won the pole, had the most laps, had the fastest laps.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: He did basically everything except for win.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: Um good job.
- 44:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Good for there.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Um Zane with Joey Logano just to meh, ninth, just meh.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: It's better than nothing, but Logano We thought he was gonna be a major threat after winning at Bristol.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: He was only like 16 points back at the championship, and it's like, oh no, even your Logano, and then it's like we've had three straight mile and a half, and obviously Penske hasn't been as good on the mile and a halves, and I mean Logano's still within striking distance, he's still like sixth in points.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: I mean Logano I mean, he's won at Phoenix, he's won at Taladega, he's won at Marnsell.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, really all of Penskey can say that.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: Blaney and Logano, the only chance that they have at this championship is if they go out and win combined between them, like two of the next three races.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: But I don't know, that might not even be enough with how good person it's been lately, but we'll see.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: Um, enough with Cup, anyways.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: Uh welcome back to Hot Sauce Hurricane.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: Geo Celsi, after a wild weekend at Lakeside, including a win back on Saturday night, of course, sits just 45 back of Rico Abrews.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: Those two are set to battle it out over two nights this weekend, October 16th and 17th, at the Texas Mortis Freeway Dirt Track for the High Limit Championship.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: Rico is is the defending champion and the defending winner of both of these races, actually, is Rico swept all-in championship weekend last year to claim the high limit title.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: So Celsius has a tall order if he wants to claim the title for himself with Spire's brand new 410 sprint card team.
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: Let me remind you, it is a brand new 410 sprint car team.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Um, but back in the spring when High Limit ran here as well, Rico finished second and sixth, while Selzi finished fourth and ninth.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: So not all hope is lost, but at the same time, those finishes are not good enough.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: If Rico finishes ninth or better both nights, he'll clinch the title, even if Celsius sweeps the weekend.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: So even with all the chaos at Lakeside this past weekend, Rico's still in firm control of this championship, but we'll see what goes down this weekend.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll see.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Um on the Carson Hospital side of things, somehow had another calm, quiet afternoon at Charlotte picking up four stage points in route to a 14th place finish plus this weekend at Phoenix, unlike all his previously announced.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: Turns out the Chili's car is back for one more time this season, although his Phoenix sacks are not great as he has zero top ten and six starts with an average finish of twenty-two point seven.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: But to be honest, Hosebur's probably just waiting until Talega next weekend after his first career cup win there back in April.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: But I didn't know Hosabar had quiet, calm drives in him.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: Like I didn't think it's what you would expect out of a hurricane now.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, Vegas he finished 12, but he had his helmet blower not working, so it's like, okay, well, it's good that he had a quiet afternoon, but he was probably focused on trying not to overheat in his own vehicle, but didn't have that problem with Charlotte, so I don't know.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: Maybe he's turned a new leaf.
- 47:14SPEAKER_00: I say that and he's gonna wreck half the field of Phoenix next week, but who knows?
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll we'll see.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: But uh that'll do it for today's episode of the Thor IV Podcast.
