- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with Richard K.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking you to
- 0:54Speaker 1: spend a few moments of your time with us each
- 0:57Speaker 1: day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that he has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now, here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:39Speaker 2: As the Father has loved me, so also I have
- 1:47Speaker 2: loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commands,
- 1:52Speaker 2: you will remain in my love, just as I have
- 1:56Speaker 2: kept my father's commands and remain in his love. I
- 2:01Speaker 2: have spoken these things to you so that my joy
- 2:04Speaker 2: may be in you, and your joy may be complete.
- 2:08Speaker 2: This is my command. Love one another as I have
- 2:13Speaker 2: loved you, John fifteen, Verses nine through twelve. As we
- 2:22Speaker 2: continue our series seven Keys to Christian Living enumerting the
- 2:28Speaker 2: seven Keys to the Kingdom, we now come to the
- 2:32Speaker 2: third key, expressing God's love. You know, there's never been
- 2:38Speaker 2: a greater expression of God's love then what is demonstrated
- 2:44Speaker 2: in John's Gospel earlier chapter three, in verses sixteen and seventeen.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It's a very familiar verse for many of us. In
- 2:57Speaker 2: the Amplified Bible. It says, for God so greatly loved
- 3:02Speaker 2: and dearly prize the world, that he even gave his
- 3:07Speaker 2: one and only begotten son, so that whoever believes and
- 3:12Speaker 2: trust in Him as Savior shall not perish, but have
- 3:17Speaker 2: eternal life. For God did not send the Sun into
- 3:22Speaker 2: the world to judge and condemn the world, that is,
- 3:27Speaker 2: to initiate the final judgment of the world, but that
- 3:31Speaker 2: the world might be saved through him. You know, as
- 3:37Speaker 2: we look at the scriptures, and it gives us more
- 3:44Speaker 2: of an understanding of God's expression of love. And in
- 3:51Speaker 2: the third Key to the Kingdom of Heaven, those are
- 3:58Speaker 2: the principal elements of Christian living. The first key, as
- 4:06Speaker 2: we saw, was to exalt God's name, and the second
- 4:11Speaker 2: was to expect God's grace. Now by receiving God's grace
- 4:19Speaker 2: and the knowledge of who his son is, we then
- 4:26Speaker 2: are able to be saved. We're saved through him because
- 4:34Speaker 2: he loved us so much that he was willing to
- 4:39Speaker 2: die for us to be able to live for him.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And we know that in his love, the Father loves
- 4:55Speaker 2: him as he has been loved of the Father. He
- 5:00Speaker 2: also loves us, and he says that if we remain
- 5:06Speaker 2: in his love, we'll keep his commands and we will
- 5:12Speaker 2: all be filled with joy, the joy that is complete.
- 5:21Speaker 2: The command to love one another as I have loved
- 5:26Speaker 2: you is something that is contrary to the world's concept
- 5:33Speaker 2: of love. To express God's love means that we must
- 5:39Speaker 2: demonstrate it not only in our words, but also in
- 5:44Speaker 2: our actions. You see, God's love is an action. It
- 5:52Speaker 2: was not just a statement. It was a action. Jesus
- 6:00Speaker 2: didn't just say I'm going to die for you. He
- 6:05Speaker 2: died for us. He took upon himself the form of
- 6:12Speaker 2: a servant, and he didn't consider being equal to God.
- 6:21Speaker 2: He didn't consider his righteous position in eternity. But he
- 6:29Speaker 2: took upon himself the form of a servant, and he
- 6:35Speaker 2: became obedient in his father's love, so that he would
- 6:43Speaker 2: suffer even death for those his father loved. Because he
- 6:52Speaker 2: loved the world so much that he gave his only son,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have
- 7:07Speaker 2: eternal life. To be able to express God's love, we
- 7:14Speaker 2: are first recipients of God's love. By his unmerited favor,
- 7:22Speaker 2: the grace that he showers down upon us, we are
- 7:27Speaker 2: able to understand and comprehend how much He loves us.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And because we understand that the action becomes a principle
- 7:41Speaker 2: of our living. We must love one another, even as
- 7:51Speaker 2: Christ has loved us. How do we express God's love?
- 7:58Speaker 2: We express it in our thoughts, in our words, and
- 8:04Speaker 2: certainly in our deeds. We will extend ourselves to others.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Jesus said, a greater love has no man than that
- 8:22Speaker 2: he would lay down his life for his friends. And
- 8:28Speaker 2: at that moment Jesus said, I call you friends. You're
- 8:36Speaker 2: no longer just servants. You are friends because I've revealed
- 8:42Speaker 2: to you God's message, his keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.
- 8:52Speaker 2: When we look at expressions of God's love and what
- 8:58Speaker 2: we are to do so that the joy of our
- 9:03Speaker 2: salvation remains in us consistently and continually complete. We do
- 9:12Speaker 2: that by loving one another as Christ has loved us?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Do we do that in our daily walk? Do we
- 9:25Speaker 2: do that with our friends, our neighbors? And do we
- 9:30Speaker 2: also do that even with our enemies? You see, Jesus
- 9:37Speaker 2: didn't say that we just loved those who love us.
- 9:42Speaker 2: He didn't say that we just love those who have
- 9:47Speaker 2: received him. He says that we are also to love
- 9:53Speaker 2: our enemies.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to

- 10:39Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 10:42Speaker 2: As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you
- 10:55Speaker 2: will demonstrate remaining in my love. I have kept my
- 11:01Speaker 2: father's commands and remain in his love. I have spoken
- 11:06Speaker 2: these things to you so that my joy may be
- 11:11Speaker 2: in you, and your joy may be complete. This is
- 11:17Speaker 2: my command. Love one another as I have loved you,
- 11:26Speaker 2: John fifteen, verses nine through twelve. And that is today's
- 11:35Speaker 2: reflection on the Word.
