- 0:13Hi Jay Fallon here. Thanks for listening to The
- 0:15Slippery Slope. Thanks also for tuning in
- 0:19throughout this whole year. If you have indeed tuned in
- 0:23throughout the whole year, and if you haven't, you've just
- 0:25joined us recently. Thanks very much for listening
- 0:28to The Slippery Slope. Yesterday I did an episode and
- 0:32it was regarding Queensland government Queensland, well, the
- 0:37crime, corrupt corruption Commission, some issues that the
- 0:40government has with, with corruption and how there's been
- 0:46reports of corruption and how it's really not being stamped
- 0:49out. So it's allowed to realistically
- 0:51it's allowed to flourish. Anyway, I, I did this episode
- 0:55yesterday. I released it on YouTube.
- 0:57I'll, I'll place a link in the description below and you'll be
- 1:01able to listen to it. If you don't go to YouTube and
- 1:03listen to my stuff there. But it just made me think about
- 1:08a Bible verse or actually primarily about a song because
- 1:13being Christmas time. So song we used to sing, we
- 1:16still do sing is sung in church, but it's based on the verses
- 1:21from Isaiah, Isaiah 96. So I'm doing this episode
- 1:26yesterday. Like I said, it's about
- 1:28government corruption, specifically corruption here in
- 1:31Queensland. And later on the day I'm
- 1:35thinking, well, this, this song kept going through my mind and
- 1:39it's Isaiah 9/6 And it says for unto us a child is born unto us
- 1:46a son is given and the government will be upon his
- 1:50shoulders and his name will be called wonderful councillor,
- 1:55mighty God, everlasting Prince of Peace.
- 2:00So that's the the song words is basically verbatim of the song
- 2:04that that is sung. The from verse 7 it goes on and
- 2:08says of the increase of his government and peace.
- 2:11There will be no end upon the throne of David and over his
- 2:14Kingdom to order it and establish it with judgement
- 2:18injustice from that time forward, even forever, the zeal
- 2:22of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
- 2:26So I'm thinking I was contemplating about the episode
- 2:29yesterday about government corruption.
- 2:32This verse, the song, the verse comes in keeps going through my
- 2:37mind. And you know, as I had written
- 2:41this, I believe it was maybe 700.
- 2:46I'm not, you know, I'm no theologian.
- 2:47I think it was somewhere around 5 to 700 years.
- 2:50I think it's 700 years before the birth of Christ.
- 2:53He's prophesying the birth of Christ.
- 2:57So I was looking up what does it mean that the government will be
- 3:02upon his shoulders like it says in Isaiah 96IN in Got Questions
- 3:06it says in prophesying an extremely dark period of
- 3:10punishment in Isaiah's history, Isaiah sees even further forward
- 3:17to a future time of hope and deliverance.
- 3:20The prophet announces that the Lord will send a Redeemer, the
- 3:24promised Messiah, to usher in a new day.
- 3:27The prophecy reveals that the Messiah will be a human born
- 3:31male child upon whose shoulders the government will rest.
- 3:37The Hebrew word translated as government means dominion power
- 3:42or sovereignty. This is from Zion on 6.
- 3:44That means dominion, power of sovereignty through legal
- 3:47authority. Israel's Saviour was to be a
- 3:51sovereign king who would rule on David's throne.
- 3:56The prophecy continues to disclose that the Messiah's
- 3:59government and its peace will never end.
- 4:01He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of His
- 4:05ancestor David for all eternity. And then we saw 7 centuries
- 4:13later, the Angel Gabriel announces Messiah's birth to his
- 4:19mother Mary. He will be great.
- 4:22It will be called the Son of the Most High.
- 4:23And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father
- 4:26David, and he will reign over the House of Jacob Forever and
- 4:30his Kingdom. And of His Kingdom there will be
- 4:33no end. As Christians thinking about
- 4:40this time coming up to December 25th, even though it's not the
- 4:45actual birth of Christ, it is the day that we celebrate or we
- 4:49remember the birth of Christ. We remember that His birth was
- 4:53actually prophesied, spoken about hundreds of years before
- 4:57its fulfilment. We speak about it still 2000
- 5:01years later, and we are still awaiting further prophecies
- 5:07about his second return, about his second, the second coming of
- 5:12Christ. And one day we will see that
- 5:17Christ will rule from Zion and the world will see the
- 5:21government placed on his shoulders.
- 5:23The Kingdom of the world will become the Kingdom of our Lord
- 5:27and of his Messiah, and he will reign forever and ever.
- 5:31And I was thinking about this, you know, I, I, I tend to get
- 5:35very worked up, very frustrated when you're reading reports
- 5:39about issues in the government here in Queensland where I am,
- 5:45issues with the Queensland government, corruption,
- 5:48failures, where there's just so much waste going on.
- 5:51And it seems like politicians, they're only interested in their
- 5:55own, their own selfish desires in what they want.
- 6:00And they, they have a pretence of working nobly for the people.
- 6:08But I think, and I think it's, it's played it constantly within
- 6:12the media as we see their moral standards constantly lacking.
- 6:18But I was reminded, as I said yesterday when I was thinking
- 6:21about this later on. For unto us it's a son is born,
- 6:26a child is born. For unto us a son is given, and
- 6:29the government will be upon his shoulders.
- 6:32As we think about Christmas, and then we think about the the
- 6:35birth of Christ which happened 2000 plus years ago, we can
- 6:41remember. We can rest in the hope that
- 6:45Christ will come again, that the government will rest upon his
- 6:50shoulders, and that that is when we will see true government.
- 6:55A Kingdom where there will be no scandals, where there will be no
- 7:00corruption, where mankind will not be in charge.
- 7:09And I'm for one look forward to that time and I'm awaiting his
- 7:16return. So just remember, no matter how
- 7:22how frustrating it might be reading about government
- 7:25scandals, government corruption, the way government fails us
- 7:31constantly, our faith, our trust, our hope rests in the
- 7:37Lord Jesus Christ because one day the government will rest
- 7:43upon his shoulders. Anyway, that's just my thoughts
- 7:47at this moment. Have a great Christmas once
- 7:50again. Thank you for joining me in the
- 7:54year 2024. Look forward to talking to
- 7:56people doing more podcasts in 2025.
- 8:00Be blessed over this Christmas period.
