- 0:25Speaker 2: I definitely feel like we have seen to tune in too.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Man. I feel like we're very special, Like I was
- 0:30Speaker 3: just saying, with the offense we got Man, I feel
- 0:31Speaker 3: like we got a lot of great guys over there,
- 0:33Speaker 3: a great system. Coach Killing Moore do a good job.
- 0:36Speaker 3: And on the offensive coaches and also on defense. Man,
- 0:38Speaker 3: I feel like we're gonna we're gonna bring that same
- 0:40Speaker 3: swager we finished a year with Man and you know,
- 0:43Speaker 3: I feel like we're gonna be very very very special
- 0:45Speaker 3: them as a team.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Man, I'm very excited going into this year. Uh.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I definitely I can't. I can't start smiling by this team.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I'm definitely happy to be with these guys and see
- 0:54Speaker 3: these guys.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Kul Aid McKinstry entering entering year three with the New
- 0:59Speaker 1: Orleans I was a guest on NFL Spotlight with Ari
- 1:03Speaker 1: Meirov thinks the Saints team is going to be special,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and that's kind of a familiar refrain to day ago.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We had a chance to visit with Lance Moore and
- 1:10Speaker 1: he just raved about the player led workouts with Tyler
- 1:13Speaker 1: Schuck veteran and Chris Olave, young guys like Barrion Brown
- 1:18Speaker 1: and Bryce Lance coming in. One of the things I
- 1:23Speaker 1: just keep looking at for the New Orleans Saints that
- 1:26Speaker 1: I keep jogging my memory is we're sort of getting
- 1:29Speaker 1: back into football mode. Is the defense from a season ago.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And the New Orleans Saints a year ago were ninth
- 1:36Speaker 1: in the NFL and total defense. There were fourth in
- 1:40Speaker 1: past defense, ninth and rush defense, and there were sixteenth
- 1:43Speaker 1: in scoring. But some of that was like the total
- 1:45Speaker 1: abomination that happened in Seattle where you were giving up
- 1:48Speaker 1: touchdowns in every phase of the game, pun returns, you know,
- 1:51Speaker 1: defensive scores, everything. But kool Aid McKinstry is someone I
- 1:57Speaker 1: think this year that has that has for the Saints
- 2:02Speaker 1: to replicate or improve upon the defensive performance from a
- 2:05Speaker 1: year ago. In year one under Brandon Staley has got
- 2:08Speaker 1: to improve dramatically. A year ago, we saw kool Aid
- 2:15Speaker 1: after Paulson Adebo left for the Giants. Kool Aid stepped
- 2:19Speaker 1: into one of those starting corner rolls opposite Alante Taylor,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and he was good, not great as a rookie. His
- 2:29Speaker 1: overall PFF grade was a sixty one. His coverage grade
- 2:33Speaker 1: was a sixty sevens pretty good. Last year, in his
- 2:37Speaker 1: second year, his overall grade was a sixty nine. His
- 2:40Speaker 1: coverage grade was a seventy one, so he did improve
- 2:42Speaker 1: year over year. I still look at kool Aid McKinstry, though,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and I don't see a player that goes out on
- 2:55Speaker 1: the field when when you're gonna face Seattle and you
- 2:58Speaker 1: see JSN, or you're gonna face Cincinnati and you see
- 3:01Speaker 1: Jamar or you're gonna go up against one of the
- 3:06Speaker 1: elite level receivers in the NFL. You're facing the Rams
- 3:09Speaker 1: and there's Pooka Nakua and you go, okay, for you
- 3:12Speaker 1: got him. I don't think kool Aid mcinsry has proven
- 3:17Speaker 1: he is that guy, and the numbers kind of bear
- 3:19Speaker 1: it out like his coverage great against Seattle last year
- 3:21Speaker 1: was a twenty seven. Against New England was a thirty five.
- 3:28Speaker 1: At the Rams, it was a forty point seven. I mean,
- 3:32Speaker 1: he had some awful performances. Now, the flip side of
- 3:35Speaker 1: it is in the game of the Dome against the Giants,
- 3:37Speaker 1: he grated out in eighty four, against the Dolphins on
- 3:41Speaker 1: the road in eighty one, against the Jets in eighty four. Now,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I also just mentioned three of the worst teams in
- 3:47Speaker 1: the NFL with awful quarterback play. But against Seattle, New England,
- 3:52Speaker 1: two teams have played in the Super Bowl. By the way,
- 3:54Speaker 1: the Rams, it was not good. He's got to be
- 3:58Speaker 1: better again, it's the best because in the last two
- 4:02Speaker 1: years you've led a debo walking free agency the Giants
- 4:04Speaker 1: and a lotta Taylor walking free agency to the Titans.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Now I'm good not paying Alante Taylor like a top
- 4:10Speaker 1: ten corner in the NFL or top five corner in
- 4:12Speaker 1: the NFL like the Titans did good, let them pay them.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I was not good with the Saints not a dressing
- 4:19Speaker 1: cornerback this offseason. So my hope is in year three,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Kooyd McKinstry takes a huge step forward and he was
- 4:29Speaker 1: asked on this podcast with Ari Myrov about stepping into
- 4:33Speaker 1: that CB one role this year.
- 4:35Speaker 3: With that going on, it's just time for me to
- 4:37Speaker 3: check into being the leader and leaning by a xample first,
- 4:41Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Just may soon I'm doing
- 4:42Speaker 3: all the right stuff, doing it the way it need
- 4:44Speaker 3: to be done, doing it exactly the way the coaches
- 4:46Speaker 3: want to be doing. So I feel like that's the
- 4:47Speaker 3: first thing that I gotta do is, you know, lead
- 4:49Speaker 3: by example. DN.
- 4:50Speaker 2: After that, you know, I can be vocally to toys
- 4:52Speaker 2: the guys and help them and bring them right along
- 4:54Speaker 2: with me.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So but I feel like, first I just got to
- 4:55Speaker 3: go in and show that I'm willing to do whatever
- 4:58Speaker 3: for this team and do whatever for this coach stuff
- 5:00Speaker 3: so we can get over this hump.
- 5:01Speaker 1: One of the things he's got to do is tackle.
- 5:04Speaker 1: In each of his two seasons in the NFL is
- 5:06Speaker 1: pff tackling grades of forty four. That's abysmal, and already
- 5:11Speaker 1: asked him about that.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Man, I'm a team player. It's no such thing as
- 5:15Speaker 2: a busin decision. In my mind.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I feel like tackling is definitely I want to and
- 5:19Speaker 3: that's something I want to do. Like if you know me,
- 5:21Speaker 3: my friends, like I'm a very tough guy, Like I'm
- 5:24Speaker 3: just that's just me. So like tackling, like I live it,
- 5:26Speaker 3: like I embrace it, Like that's the main thing I
- 5:28Speaker 3: talk about.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Like when I go to.
- 5:30Speaker 3: These kid camps, I go to the tackling drill before
- 5:32Speaker 3: I go anywhere else, Like I make sure that kids know,
- 5:35Speaker 3: like tackling is important. Like if you can't tackle, you
- 5:37Speaker 3: better go on the ouf in side of the ball,
- 5:38Speaker 3: like and it don't hurt, it, don't hurt. Just go
- 5:41Speaker 3: do it, go hard, like, just go try it.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Wanting to do it and being good at doing it
- 5:47Speaker 1: are two different things. He's got to get better at
- 5:50Speaker 1: doing that at thirteen misstackles in his second year in
- 5:54Speaker 1: New Orleans. Gotta be better, got to be better there.
- 6:00Speaker 3: More.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I do always find it interesting, you know, I think
- 6:03Speaker 1: sometimes defensive players have the best perspective of an offense
- 6:10Speaker 1: because they're the ones that go against in practice every
- 6:11Speaker 1: day and they can see it and they just know
- 6:14Speaker 1: what they're looking at and what's difficult to defend. Like
- 6:17Speaker 1: getting a defensive player's perspective on an offense. And you know,
- 6:22Speaker 1: we've talked a lot this offseason about New Orleans improving
- 6:25Speaker 1: the skill on offense, Jordan Tyson, Oscar Delp, Travis chen
- 6:30Speaker 1: I go down the list, but what is cool I
- 6:33Speaker 1: think about the Saints offense.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Man, it's a lot of We got a lot of
- 6:36Speaker 2: splosive guys over there.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Man.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'm excited to see it myself. Man, I'm excited to
- 6:40Speaker 2: compete against it.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I feel like that's my that's my first goal going
- 6:44Speaker 3: into the campus, shutting it offense down that they got, Man,
- 6:46Speaker 3: they still explosive.
- 6:47Speaker 2: They got great players over there.
- 6:49Speaker 3: They got great guys with Aarone got their own difference
- 6:52Speaker 3: to them. Areyone got their own kick to it, and
- 6:54Speaker 3: I love that about them, man, and uh, I really
- 6:57Speaker 3: feel like they lowered it over there. I feel like
- 6:58Speaker 3: they're going to be very close.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Saints offense has a long way to go from a
- 7:03Speaker 1: year ago when they were in the bottom third of
- 7:05Speaker 1: the NFL in total offense at three hundred and thirteen
- 7:08Speaker 1: yards per game and they averaged just eighteen points per game.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Last season, only the Jets, Titans, Browns, and Raiders scored
- 7:15Speaker 1: fewer points per game than New Orleans. They've given Tyler, Now,
- 7:20Speaker 1: this is going to be all Tyler shuck and they've
- 7:22Speaker 1: given him the weapons to be great. See if they
- 7:24Speaker 1: can do it. But a huge part of the season
- 7:26Speaker 1: has got to be the defense in year two under
- 7:28Speaker 1: Brandon Staley, improving upon what they are matching or improving
- 7:31Speaker 1: upon what they were able to do a year ago.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And the onus is going to be on kool Ad
- 7:35Speaker 1: McKinstry being CB one. We'll see if he can do it.
