- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Kicking In with Kiki. Kicking it you Ki Ki,
- 0:14Speaker 1: kicking Ki Key for a little personality, switching up the
- 0:18Speaker 1: storyline on God. Were making that story and hooks us
- 0:22Speaker 1: one day at the time. Much problems to the side.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Enjoy yourself for your mind chicken Ki keep Welcome back
- 0:42Speaker 1: to another episode of Kicking It with Kiki, Life, love
- 0:46Speaker 1: and all that other ship. I am your host, Kiki Chanel.
- 0:50Speaker 1: We are in season eight. This is the season eight opener,
- 0:53Speaker 1: so we are we're doing something different. We have a
- 0:56Speaker 1: panel today. We have a couple of ladies that's joining
- 0:59Speaker 1: us and we're talking about their organization that is there
- 1:03Speaker 1: to bring women together to form sisterhood and community. Y'all
- 1:08Speaker 1: know how I like to do. It's season eight, so
- 1:10Speaker 1: y'all should be used to how the show goes by. Now.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I like to give my guests the opportunity to introduce themselves,
- 1:17Speaker 1: so I'll let Miss Pamela go first. And she's new
- 1:20Speaker 1: new to the platform since the own is a regular here.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But Miss Pamla, how you doe? Thank you for coming
- 1:25Speaker 1: to kick it with me today.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I am wonderful Kiki, and thank you so much for
- 1:30Speaker 2: having me today. I'm very, very happy to be here.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Absolutely so tell the listeners who you are and what
- 1:36Speaker 1: you do well.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Like Kiki just said, my name is Pama, my wife
- 1:40Speaker 2: from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am the owner and operator
- 1:45Speaker 2: of Signature Real Estate Groups, a real estate broker. I've
- 1:47Speaker 2: been in the business for actually this month makes twenty
- 1:50Speaker 2: one years now, Yes, twenty one years.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I am also a financial services representative to provide financial
- 2:00Speaker 2: education to individuals in our community, helped them to pretty
- 2:03Speaker 2: much kind of understand what they don't understand about money,
- 2:07Speaker 2: to put themselves in a better position, and recently actually
- 2:12Speaker 2: also launched Aspire Entrepreneurs Network, which is a networking, support
- 2:17Speaker 2: and resource community for small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I love that, listen, that's a great resume. Well, thank
- 2:25Speaker 1: you for being here, and we have someone the og
- 2:29Speaker 1: of kicking it with Kikill people. They should know you
- 2:34Speaker 1: by now, but tell.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Them they sure.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Well.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I'm Simone higginbotham. I am the owner and founder of
- 2:43Speaker 3: I call it Rebirth Weekend of Legends, which includes Rebirth Magazine,
- 2:50Speaker 3: Legend Awards, br and also a new thing that I've
- 2:54Speaker 3: thought nothing but I call it I guess a journey
- 2:57Speaker 3: a new initiative, weekend Girl dot com, which is a website,
- 3:04Speaker 3: a lifestyle website for women, and I came with that
- 3:07Speaker 3: about two years ago because I find that Monday through Friday,
- 3:10Speaker 3: we're often we're busy, we're running, we're doing this, we're
- 3:13Speaker 3: wearing so many different hats that we never get a
- 3:16Speaker 3: chance to do anything for us. So the weekend is
- 3:18Speaker 3: like a reprieve. Became a reprieve for me, a place
- 3:21Speaker 3: where I could time a moment in time that I
- 3:23Speaker 3: could take those couple of days to kind of do
- 3:25Speaker 3: some self care, to renew myself, refresh myself. So that's
- 3:30Speaker 3: how I came up with that, and I started living
- 3:33Speaker 3: my life on the weekend because money through Friday was
- 3:35Speaker 3: absolutely out of the question to do anything that I
- 3:39Speaker 3: needed to do as far as self care. So that's
- 3:42Speaker 3: who I am. And getting our first event for a
- 3:46Speaker 3: Weekend Girl that's coming up.
- 3:47Speaker 1: In March, which is you Done. Got all into my
- 3:51Speaker 1: talking points. I talked to people who we are you
- 3:54Speaker 1: Done talked about the Weekend Girl, but we do talk
- 3:57Speaker 1: a little bit more in depth about it, because you know,
- 4:00Speaker 1: Monday through Friday is all business. It's all family. We
- 4:03Speaker 1: barely have time to even breathe because you coming home
- 4:07Speaker 1: making sure that if you have kids, you're taking care
- 4:09Speaker 1: of the kids. If you're marriage, you have the spouse,
- 4:11Speaker 1: you have dinner and all the things, going to school,
- 4:14Speaker 1: running businesses, and so just talk about the importance of
- 4:18Speaker 1: making time for yourself. And I know the weekend gear
- 4:21Speaker 1: and I'm a part of the organization, so I'm excited
- 4:24Speaker 1: about it. I know that you just told the listeners
- 4:28Speaker 1: how you came about. But what is something that you
- 4:32Speaker 1: pride yourself on doing on the weekends to make sure
- 4:35Speaker 1: that you're practicing that self care that you need that
- 4:38Speaker 1: you don't get throughout the week.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Most times, it's not anything really really big, if it's
- 4:45Speaker 3: just having me a moment where I can Most times,
- 4:47Speaker 3: I do a lot of reading. I love to read,
- 4:49Speaker 3: and I found that as I got older and I
- 4:52Speaker 3: got more responsibilities and things that I didn't have the
- 4:55Speaker 3: opportunity to read. So that's one of the main things
- 4:58Speaker 3: that I do fare myself for the following week, the
- 5:02Speaker 3: week coming up, this stuff, take some time and read
- 5:04Speaker 3: about different things, okay, different topics, and now as of late,
- 5:09Speaker 3: a lot of self care stuff.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Okay, what about you, miss Pamela. What is something that
- 5:15Speaker 1: you do on the weekend to reward yourself for having
- 5:18Speaker 1: that hectic week Because you that resumes you just put
- 5:20Speaker 1: out that's a lot, so I know that you need
- 5:23Speaker 1: some time for that self care. So what is something
- 5:25Speaker 1: that you try to incorporate over the weekends to practice
- 5:28Speaker 1: that self care? Definitely, well, KICKI before i tell you
- 5:31Speaker 1: what I do over the weekend, I'm gonna I actually
- 5:34Speaker 1: should have said this earlier. I am very happy that
- 5:38Speaker 1: I have had the opportunity to join the Rebirth and
- 5:41Speaker 1: Weekend Girl Family as the engagement coordinator.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So I'm very excited about that. So basically on the weekend,
- 5:49Speaker 2: at the start of the weekend, my very first treat,
- 5:52Speaker 2: which basically goes into this as part of self care
- 5:55Speaker 2: for me, is visiting with the one and only your collater,
- 6:00Speaker 2: which is the person that keeps my hair looking the
- 6:02Speaker 2: way it looks.
- 6:03Speaker 4: I visited with.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Her on Fridays and to have my hair pressed. But
- 6:08Speaker 2: then after that, I'm an avid gardener. I have a
- 6:12Speaker 2: raised bed vegetable gardening. The gardening is therapeutic for me.
- 6:16Speaker 2: It's basically therapy. So I like to grow my own vegetables.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I spend some time in the garden. Just like Simon,
- 6:23Speaker 2: I love to read. I'm an avid reader. I definitely
- 6:27Speaker 2: love to read, and just like to just enjoy quality,
- 6:32Speaker 2: peaceful moments, quality peaceful moments, and then sometimes just getaways,
- 6:37Speaker 2: you know, a vacation or just to get away. It
- 6:39Speaker 2: doesn't have to be an extended period of time. It
- 6:42Speaker 2: doesn't have to be a week long vacation. You can
- 6:44Speaker 2: literally just go away sometimes overnight, or even have a staycation,
- 6:48Speaker 2: you know, right there where you live in your own city,
- 6:51Speaker 2: just to get away and relax and enjoy the time
- 6:53Speaker 2: for yourself.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Absolutely, and everything that you said is like, I love it.
- 6:58Speaker 1: It's just makes my spirit just smile because I grew
- 7:01Speaker 1: up my grandparents had a farm, so we was always
- 7:04Speaker 1: outside doing forming stuff, gardening stuff, growing vegetables that he had,
- 7:09Speaker 1: hogs and chickens running around and all of that. So
- 7:13Speaker 1: that's nostalgic for me to hear that it's still out
- 7:16Speaker 1: there because I lost them. But those memories you just
- 7:20Speaker 1: brought back so many amazing memories for me. I love
- 7:25Speaker 1: that y'all love to read, because I got like seventeen
- 7:27Speaker 1: books now I'm all a elable on Amazon.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Look, Kiki, I think my daughter has most of your books.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think she does. Yes, absolutely, But miss Pemley, you
- 7:42Speaker 1: just said something and I want you to elaborate on
- 7:45Speaker 1: it a little bit more about having those quality peaceful moments. Yes,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the importance of that, because we sometimes take for granted
- 7:55Speaker 1: that piece that we should try to embrace on a
- 7:59Speaker 1: daily basis. But it's so hectic, chaotic social media with
- 8:04Speaker 1: life happening and all the things. But just expound upon
- 8:08Speaker 1: having those quality peaceful moments.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Right and you know, like you just said, you know,
- 8:13Speaker 3: life is busy.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Life is busy.
- 8:15Speaker 2: It's very hectic for all of us, and especially women.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Knock to knock the men, but you know, women, it
- 8:21Speaker 2: can be especially busy women who are moms, especially women
- 8:26Speaker 2: with multiple children, working mothers, career women, just balancing work,
- 8:33Speaker 2: raising children, taking care of the home. Many individuals also
- 8:38Speaker 2: have businesses, you know, outside of that, and taking care
- 8:43Speaker 2: of yourself is easy to lose focus on that. You know,
- 8:46Speaker 2: before you realize that you've come to the end of
- 8:48Speaker 2: the day and you have not made yourself a priority
- 8:52Speaker 2: in those days go on and before you know, you're
- 8:55Speaker 2: at the end of the week and you still have
- 8:57Speaker 2: not made time for yourself, and then the kind of
- 9:00Speaker 2: repeats itself.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Over and over and over.
- 9:03Speaker 2: But you know, we have to stop and think about
- 9:07Speaker 2: ourselves and take time to have those moments where we
- 9:11Speaker 2: can just kind of clear everything from our mind, where
- 9:15Speaker 2: we can just have a moment of peace and solitude.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Absolutely, and Simon, what about you, how would you define
- 9:25Speaker 1: a quality piece for moment? For you?
- 9:28Speaker 3: To be honest, I'm gonna have to leave outside of
- 9:30Speaker 3: my bedroom. That's my sanctuary. That's where I do most
- 9:35Speaker 3: of mine when I connect to my spirituality, where I
- 9:39Speaker 3: connect to who I am. With a book, if I'm journaling,
- 9:44Speaker 3: I love documentaries, and often I take time to catch up.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You know, a lot of times we don't have conversations
- 9:51Speaker 3: with people anymore, and maybe not be in person, but
- 9:54Speaker 3: just making phone calls. If it's no more than just
- 9:57Speaker 3: talking to my great aunt who's ninety nine years old,
- 9:59Speaker 3: you know, taking that time when I'm not able to
- 10:02Speaker 3: speak to her during the week a whole lot, but
- 10:04Speaker 3: I'm able to speak with her on the weekend and
- 10:05Speaker 3: talk to her and I learn a lot from her.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Every time I talk to her, I learned something new,
- 10:10Speaker 3: not only about her, but about myself. Maybe the reason
- 10:14Speaker 3: why I do certain things I learned from her. So
- 10:18Speaker 3: just inside and I've worked very very hard and making
- 10:21Speaker 3: my bedroom a sanctuary for me where it's comfortable. I've
- 10:25Speaker 3: gotten into candles for different reasons, different since I've gotten in,
- 10:29Speaker 3: like I said, different books and I have. You know,
- 10:30Speaker 3: I used to limit myself to certain types of books
- 10:33Speaker 3: that I've read, but now I have become more open
- 10:36Speaker 3: to things that I wouldn't normally be interested in. So
- 10:40Speaker 3: I've enjoyed that just just just a simple quiet time.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I don't have to be doing anything, just some quiet moments,
- 10:47Speaker 3: this quietness. You know, life is so loud, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 3: and so life and when people say that when you're lifing,
- 10:56Speaker 3: it can become extremely loud. So just having quiet time
- 11:00Speaker 3: and having that time to your So that's what just
- 11:03Speaker 3: a few of the things that I do, and what
- 11:04Speaker 3: I see is, you know, the time that I take
- 11:06Speaker 3: to do that.
- 11:08Speaker 4: I like that word she use, sanctuary. I like that word.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It doesn't have to be a big elaborate space, but
- 11:15Speaker 2: an area that's for you. Like my sanctuary is my
- 11:17Speaker 2: little small home office that's a space for me. I
- 11:20Speaker 2: can go in there and close the door, turn the
- 11:22Speaker 2: lights off, and that's my space, right.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I also have a home office I work in here,
- 11:27Speaker 1: but I also have y'all see the vibrant colors and
- 11:30Speaker 1: things that I have, So it's a sanctuary for me
- 11:32Speaker 1: as well. We have another guest that has joined us,
- 11:36Speaker 1: So Sierra, come on off and mute and tell these
- 11:38Speaker 1: people who you are what you do. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Hello, Hello, good people. Sorry for my tardiness, but I
- 11:48Speaker 2: am Sierra Ariel. I am a author, a motivational speaker
- 11:54Speaker 2: as well as a life coach working with you when
- 11:57Speaker 2: it comes to your mental and building your confidence.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I love that. I love that. So we were just
- 12:06Speaker 1: talking about the having quality peaceful moments for you. What
- 12:11Speaker 1: would be like a quality peaceful moment?
- 12:17Speaker 3: I know, I don't think anyone said it, but the
- 12:19Speaker 3: bathroom is my time.
- 12:23Speaker 2: More more so the shower than the toilet, just because
- 12:29Speaker 2: we are in the midst of partty turning our two
- 12:32Speaker 2: year old, so that time is not not the best time.
- 12:37Speaker 2: But getting in the shower, yeah, I think that's my
- 12:40Speaker 2: space to just kind of zone out, forget about time,
- 12:44Speaker 2: forget about being a mom at the moment, and just
- 12:49Speaker 2: you know, letting the water hit you. Sometimes I may
- 12:52Speaker 2: have taken a shower already. Sometimes I just go in
- 12:55Speaker 2: there and do it again just to get that time.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I love that. I love my bathroom to have a
- 13:01Speaker 1: blue light in there. And I get in my tub
- 13:02Speaker 1: and I soaked, and I realized, oh, you done been
- 13:05Speaker 1: here too long. I was all strip it up and
- 13:07Speaker 1: stuff like that. But you need that place where you
- 13:09Speaker 1: can just kind of zone out. Becomes then you know,
- 13:13Speaker 1: turn the noise off, like Timon said, because the older
- 13:16Speaker 1: I get, the less noise I like. I don't like
- 13:19Speaker 1: it to be quiet, yes, like noise disrupts my peace.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And Starry got a two year old, God bless.
- 13:28Speaker 3: You, and expecting another one, so.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Congratulations. Yes, look my crewch My son just made sixteen,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and my daughter just turned twenty eight, and I just
- 13:42Speaker 1: had a birthday. Like Christmas and birthdays, like the holiday
- 13:45Speaker 1: season is busy for us, like what you think, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: having birthdays and then Christmas and then the other birthdays.
- 13:52Speaker 1: But yeah, we make it work. I love that you
- 13:54Speaker 1: guys are all about the self, because if we cannot
- 13:59Speaker 1: tap into the spirit of self, we're no good to
- 14:02Speaker 1: anybody else. So I want to talk about the importance
- 14:05Speaker 1: of having self acceptance once because I think that that
- 14:08Speaker 1: starts the self care journey as well as self love,
- 14:11Speaker 1: self motivation, self discovery and all of that. You have
- 14:14Speaker 1: to be able to accept yourself wholeheartedly to tap into
- 14:17Speaker 1: those things. So, if you had to give a definition
- 14:21Speaker 1: to self acceptance, Seer, what it would it be? And why?
- 14:24Speaker 2: I think when you say acceptance that hits home for
- 14:28Speaker 2: me because this year I definitely said that this, you know,
- 14:33Speaker 2: just grieving the old person without the kids, without the
- 14:36Speaker 2: husband and all of that, and being able to accept
- 14:39Speaker 2: like this new life of you know, motherhood and being
- 14:45Speaker 2: able to just juggle the business, the home life and
- 14:50Speaker 2: things like that. Sometimes that could have its own standard,
- 14:55Speaker 2: you know, So being able to like tear that down
- 14:58Speaker 2: and say, Okay, this is what I can handle, and
- 15:02Speaker 2: this is what I can't handle. This is who I
- 15:06Speaker 2: am and this is who I'm not. And so just
- 15:09Speaker 2: being able to accept that part of me and being
- 15:12Speaker 2: balanced in those spaces is enough for me.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Love it.
- 15:16Speaker 1: What about you, Simon, If you had to give self
- 15:20Speaker 1: acceptance a definition, what would it be and why?
- 15:23Speaker 3: Well, I'm gonna say this, self acceptance for me would
- 15:27Speaker 3: be being able to know who you are, know who
- 15:31Speaker 3: you are, what you're willing to accept, what are you
- 15:35Speaker 3: willing to do, accepting who you were prior to who
- 15:40Speaker 3: you're becoming. And I would say my reasons for that
- 15:44Speaker 3: is why a lot of people don't know this unless
- 15:46Speaker 3: you know me. Know me. I was my mother's caregiver
- 15:49Speaker 3: until she passed, from the time I was thirty years
- 15:51Speaker 3: old until I was forty four years old, and at
- 15:54Speaker 3: that time my mother became her health began to fail her.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I was going through a divorce from an abusive marriage.
- 16:01Speaker 3: So at that point, from jumping into that, I never
- 16:05Speaker 3: had been married young, having a child, pretty much a
- 16:08Speaker 3: young person, I never got really a chance to figure
- 16:11Speaker 3: out who I was, what I liked, my likes, my dislikes.
- 16:14Speaker 3: So after my mother passed, and at that time my
- 16:17Speaker 3: daughter was an adult, I had to reinvent me, figure
- 16:22Speaker 3: out what I liked, what I didn't like, what I
- 16:24Speaker 3: was going to accept, what I wasn't going to accept.
- 16:27Speaker 3: So for me, that's what it was, But that was
- 16:29Speaker 3: my reason. I was at a turning point, and I'm
- 16:30Speaker 3: gonna be honest with you. In twenty fifteen, aug was
- 16:34Speaker 3: in two twenty fifteen my mother passed and I was
- 16:36Speaker 3: completely lost. I didn't know what I was gonna do.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I really had no I was living for her and
- 16:42Speaker 3: living for the person that had me, and living for
- 16:45Speaker 3: the person that I had, which was my daughter. So
- 16:47Speaker 3: outside of those two people, I knew nothing about what
- 16:51Speaker 3: life was. So I was almost like even though I
- 16:53Speaker 3: was forty four, I was like a person that was
- 16:54Speaker 3: eighteen years old that's leaving to go to college and
- 16:57Speaker 3: experience in life. So for the last nine almost ten years,
- 17:00Speaker 3: I've been experiencing life on my own terms and doing
- 17:03Speaker 3: what I want when I want to, how much I want,
- 17:06Speaker 3: If I don't, I don't, If I do, I do,
- 17:08Speaker 3: mm hm.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I love that. I love that. What about you, miss
- 17:12Speaker 1: miss Pamela. If you had to give self acceptance a definition,
- 17:17Speaker 1: what would it be and why?
- 17:19Speaker 2: The first and foremost, you know, understanding that we are
- 17:23Speaker 2: all different.
- 17:24Speaker 4: We're all different.
- 17:25Speaker 2: You know, God has created each and every one of
- 17:29Speaker 2: us unique, and you know we're kind of living in
- 17:32Speaker 2: an age now where everyone's trying to kind of fit
- 17:34Speaker 2: the mold. Then you know, kind of everyone's trying to
- 17:37Speaker 2: be the same, and you know we're all different and
- 17:39Speaker 2: being able to understand that we're all uniquely created and
- 17:44Speaker 2: being happy with we've been created to be in and
- 17:47Speaker 2: accepting who we are now. Are we always the same person? No,
- 17:53Speaker 2: you know we go through different phases of life. We
- 17:57Speaker 2: definitely do. And you know, like some was saying, You're like,
- 18:01Speaker 2: I've been someone's mother since I was twenty years old,
- 18:04Speaker 2: and you know, mother someone's wife, and over just my
- 18:09Speaker 2: years in life, you know, I've definitely evolved, and you
- 18:13Speaker 2: know there was a point where, you know, you have
- 18:15Speaker 2: to kind of shift some things and at some point
- 18:20Speaker 2: kind of shift who you are. You know, I know
- 18:21Speaker 2: there was a point where my entire life was consumed
- 18:24Speaker 2: with my family, you know, with my children, and you
- 18:30Speaker 2: kind of get to.
- 18:30Speaker 4: The point of where sometimes you're like, who am I?
- 18:33Speaker 4: You're trying to figure out who am I?
- 18:35Speaker 2: And you know, my children are older now, they're sixteen,
- 18:38Speaker 2: nineteen and twenty seven, you know, going on twenty seven,
- 18:42Speaker 2: twenty six, one on twenty seven, and so I kind
- 18:45Speaker 2: of now I'm at a point now the last couple
- 18:47Speaker 2: of years where I'm kind of like evolving again.
- 18:50Speaker 4: And I've had some individuals say, well, you know you're changing,
- 18:53Speaker 4: are you?
- 18:53Speaker 2: I'm like, no, I'm just this is just another phase
- 18:56Speaker 2: of my life and we're just moving into another phase.
- 18:59Speaker 4: And just you know, I want to be me.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I don't want to be anyone but me and who
- 19:04Speaker 2: I've created to be and whoever I'm supposed to be
- 19:08Speaker 2: at this moment in time in my life, and just
- 19:11Speaker 2: a hands on whoever that person.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Is, absolutely And I want to switch back to something
- 19:15Speaker 1: that that Sierra talked about having that balance, and I
- 19:19Speaker 1: want to talk about having that work life balance. We
- 19:21Speaker 1: have to be able to balance in order to stay
- 19:24Speaker 1: in control because otherwise we become unhealthy, unhappy, resentful and
- 19:29Speaker 1: all the things, and that can destroy relationships both you know,
- 19:33Speaker 1: career wise as well as home life. So let's talk
- 19:36Speaker 1: about the importance of having that, like the work life balance,
- 19:40Speaker 1: and I'll start with miss Pamela. Let's talk about that.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Well, it is critical to have that work life balance.
- 19:47Speaker 2: It is critical, and you know, especially you know, except
- 19:51Speaker 2: you know, for for career on moms, you know, working
- 19:55Speaker 2: with children. If you don't consciously make the effort to
- 20:02Speaker 2: ensure that balance is there, it's not going to be there.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And like you said, you will go into fall into
- 20:08Speaker 2: moments where you can become resentful because you feel like
- 20:12Speaker 2: you have no time for you, You feel like no one
- 20:14Speaker 2: is thinking about you. It's all about everyone else and
- 20:17Speaker 2: no one is thinking about you, right, So you know
- 20:21Speaker 2: which goes back to you know, having creating purposeful moments,
- 20:26Speaker 2: you know where you know you you can create that balance.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I know, you know, for myself, I'm a schedule person.
- 20:31Speaker 2: You know, I am a scheduled person, and you're just
- 20:34Speaker 2: kind of incorporating things where you know, you know how
- 20:37Speaker 2: your day is going to look, where you know, you
- 20:40Speaker 2: know what you have to do for your family, you
- 20:42Speaker 2: know how what you have to do for your job,
- 20:44Speaker 2: but also ensuring that you're adding in those things that
- 20:47Speaker 2: you have to do for yourself.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Absolutely, what about you see err because y'all you it
- 20:52Speaker 1: seemed like your household gout life going on around here.
- 20:56Speaker 3: I appreciate all patience.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I think the work life balance has gotten a lot
- 21:02Speaker 2: better for me just because I learned how to say
- 21:05Speaker 2: no and to set the boundaries on.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Like what I will and will not do.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Because of that, I don't bring work home once once
- 21:14Speaker 2: I clock out, that's it. We I'm with that and
- 21:18Speaker 2: just being able to also being that I do juggle
- 21:22Speaker 2: my own business to have days where it's like, Okay,
- 21:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna do this on this day. This is my schedule,
- 21:29Speaker 2: Like Miss Familla said, like that is important because I
- 21:33Speaker 2: am very family oriented. I want to be present. I
- 21:36Speaker 2: want to be present with my husband. I want to
- 21:38Speaker 2: be present with my children. So not to make the
- 21:43Speaker 2: job of distraction, but to make it beneficial for me
- 21:46Speaker 2: and my.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Family absolutely, Simone, how do you how do you handle
- 21:50Speaker 1: that that work? You know, tap into the work life
- 21:53Speaker 1: balance because you you have a lot going on too,
- 21:56Speaker 1: you don't. But I've gotten a lot better.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I decided that when I'm fifty that I was going
- 22:01Speaker 3: to learn to delegate. So I'm a person that tried
- 22:03Speaker 3: to do it all and I've come to the realization
- 22:07Speaker 3: that I had to learn to delegate. I had to
- 22:10Speaker 3: learn to ask for help. It took me a while
- 22:12Speaker 3: to get there. And another thing I realized is that
- 22:15Speaker 3: whatever that it is, you know, I do a lot
- 22:16Speaker 3: of stuff, community stuff, advocate for a lot, but I
- 22:20Speaker 3: can't be everywhere. Everybody in me too. If you would
- 22:23Speaker 3: see my inbox emails inviting me and I used to
- 22:27Speaker 3: try to be at everything, sometimes three four five things
- 22:30Speaker 3: a day, and I decided you can't do this, and
- 22:32Speaker 3: you know, I just could not. And if it doesn't
- 22:36Speaker 3: align with what I'm trying to what my life's mission is.
- 22:40Speaker 3: If it doesn't align what I'm trying to do, I
- 22:42Speaker 3: can't do it. You know, I'll help in any other
- 22:45Speaker 3: kind of way. I'll put the word out about it,
- 22:47Speaker 3: I'll share it or whatever. But I just can't be
- 22:49Speaker 3: everything for everybody anymore because in the process of showing
- 22:54Speaker 3: up for everybody, but someone so and even that goes
- 22:58Speaker 3: with you know, my daughter, I have one, one child,
- 23:01Speaker 3: but she knows I'm at mother. I'm gonna do everything.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I'm gonna be there for her. I'm gonna do everything possible.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna shore but she has to learn U had
- 23:12Speaker 3: to learn that. You know, I'm your mother, but you're
- 23:15Speaker 3: an adult, You're married, you have a husband, you have
- 23:18Speaker 3: a child, you have your own household. You know. Now,
- 23:21Speaker 3: if it's an emergency or something like that, yeah, of
- 23:23Speaker 3: course I'm gonna always be there for it, but just
- 23:25Speaker 3: being there because a mama, you know, you we all
- 23:28Speaker 3: we're all mothers. So, but Sierra hasn't experienced this yet.
- 23:31Speaker 3: You know, when you get that text to that call,
- 23:33Speaker 3: you hear that Ma, you know a question? You do
- 23:39Speaker 3: that text Ma, you know something something? Want it? They
- 23:43Speaker 3: want you to do something. So even with her, I
- 23:46Speaker 3: had to create boundaries. And that's one of my things.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I've just had to learn to delegate. And I had
- 23:52Speaker 3: to realize everything cannot align with what I'm trying to
- 23:55Speaker 3: achieve in life, and I have to learn to show
- 23:58Speaker 3: up for me.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Absolutely, you're not showing up for you. How you gonna
- 24:02Speaker 1: show up for anybody else? Yes, you have to be
- 24:05Speaker 1: able to show up for yourself. So let's talk about
- 24:08Speaker 1: the the event coming up, Blossom and Brunch. How did
- 24:13Speaker 1: that all come about? What's the mission behind it? And
- 24:17Speaker 1: all the things? Tell the listeners. If you're in the
- 24:20Speaker 1: band rouge ham An area, y'all can get y'all tickets,
- 24:25Speaker 1: tell them when the date is, let's go. Let's let's
- 24:27Speaker 1: talk about the event because we could go on and
- 24:29Speaker 1: on about self love and life balance and boundaries and
- 24:33Speaker 1: all of that, but we have other missions for the
- 24:36Speaker 1: party for people to hear about the events. So let's
- 24:39Speaker 1: talk about Blossom and Brunch.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I've done I've done a ton of events, but this
- 24:44Speaker 3: one is very near and dear to me because in
- 24:47Speaker 3: the last like before we got on to talk about this,
- 24:51Speaker 3: the discussion that we're having, we were talking about my
- 24:54Speaker 3: reason behind it, my reason I found myself going to brunches,
- 24:58Speaker 3: teas and all these events that are supposed to know
- 25:01Speaker 3: their mission is to empower women. But it only to me.
- 25:05Speaker 3: It was certain women. It wasn't all women. I want
- 25:10Speaker 3: every woman. My mission is for every woman to come
- 25:14Speaker 3: and be able to embrace blossom and brunch, to live it,
- 25:20Speaker 3: to enjoy it, to feel comfortable, to be able to network,
- 25:24Speaker 3: connect with women that they can relate to. On all
- 25:27Speaker 3: of us. I don't care how different we are. We
- 25:30Speaker 3: all can relate in some area. We can relate to
- 25:33Speaker 3: each other. So I want them to feel comfortable. I
- 25:35Speaker 3: want to have that laid back by where you can
- 25:37Speaker 3: come and be comfortable and your flip flops, your tennis shoes.
- 25:40Speaker 3: You don't have to be dressed to the lines. We
- 25:42Speaker 3: don't want them to be dressed to the line. We
- 25:44Speaker 3: want them to sit at tables in areas where they
- 25:47Speaker 3: can see each other. You want to have those ten
- 25:48Speaker 3: foot centerpieces where they have to look around and see
- 25:51Speaker 3: who they're talking to. The mission is to not force
- 25:57Speaker 3: any of my personal beliefs on them, but for them
- 26:01Speaker 3: to be able to be comfortable. And we all know
- 26:03Speaker 3: we've been places that as women that in the company
- 26:05Speaker 3: of certain well not in company, but as certain eventually
- 26:09Speaker 3: you just didn't feel comfortable. So that's the mission of it.
- 26:13Speaker 3: And when I decided and why, I say, you know what,
- 26:16Speaker 3: I can't do this by myself. I needed a team.
- 26:18Speaker 3: So I started pulling people that I knew knew that
- 26:23Speaker 3: had certain skills that they could bring to the table
- 26:25Speaker 3: to make this a success. And in the process of it,
- 26:28Speaker 3: they are women that they have their own businesses and
- 26:31Speaker 3: that's what they're pouring into this event their business and
- 26:33Speaker 3: they're gonna be Everybody involved is gonna benefit from this.
- 26:36Speaker 3: It's not a one woman show. And I'm so excited
- 26:42Speaker 3: about it because we just started on the first putting
- 26:44Speaker 3: it out there. Uh you know some of the things
- 26:47Speaker 3: that it's going to be like anything else that that
- 26:50Speaker 3: they've ever attended. I promise we have some great things planned.
- 26:55Speaker 3: And I'm you know, Sierra's the mind behind this. It's
- 26:59Speaker 3: not me. She's the mastermind behind everything. And Miss Pam
- 27:05Speaker 3: is keeping us together. She's keeping the budget together and
- 27:10Speaker 3: you know, the admin things and these are people, well,
- 27:12Speaker 3: I've known see her all of her life life. Literally
- 27:16Speaker 3: she's my niece, so you know, I've known her literally
- 27:19Speaker 3: all of her life. But miss Pam, I met her
- 27:21Speaker 3: on social media and pretty much everybody that's involved. That's
- 27:26Speaker 3: how I met them. But they are women that we're
- 27:28Speaker 3: all doing things on our own, but we also we
- 27:31Speaker 3: want to come together and share some of the things
- 27:34Speaker 3: that we have to offer to women of Baton Rouge
- 27:37Speaker 3: and surrounding areas. But that's what Blossom and Brunch is
- 27:40Speaker 3: all about. When women when you leave Blossom and Brunch,
- 27:43Speaker 3: and if you notice anybody on the flyer, it says
- 27:45Speaker 3: ten a m. Until we don't want to come and
- 27:48Speaker 3: feel rushed, like you know, it's a time limit. We
- 27:51Speaker 3: gotta squeeze all this in and we gotta get it done.
- 27:54Speaker 3: It's until and when they leave and they go back
- 27:56Speaker 3: out into the big bad world, they'll have all the
- 27:59Speaker 3: tools that they need for self care to be able
- 28:01Speaker 3: to u love on themselves and make them make their
- 28:06Speaker 3: them best possible people that they can be.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Absolutely they'll be able to blossom into the woman that
- 28:12Speaker 1: they're supposed to exactly. All right, you the Mastermind talk
- 28:18Speaker 1: about it. Let's tell the listeners what they can We
- 28:20Speaker 1: don't want to give away stuff because we want to
- 28:22Speaker 1: sell the tickets and get it a little bit what
- 28:26Speaker 1: they can expect by coming to this event.
- 28:30Speaker 2: So the more I talk to the visionary of this event,
- 28:35Speaker 2: the more that I talk to the visionary of the event.
- 28:38Speaker 1: It's more like a staycation.
- 28:40Speaker 3: You ever been somewhere and it's like it's a whole
- 28:44Speaker 3: lot of stuff for you to do, and then you
- 28:45Speaker 3: just schedule it all out and then you just go
- 28:47Speaker 3: and do That's the idea that we want to take
- 28:52Speaker 3: from this event, right, And so, like she said, it's
- 28:56Speaker 3: until it's a whole lot of different activities. We're calling
- 28:59Speaker 3: it excursions because we don't want to be like it's
- 29:02Speaker 3: a workshop for a class, because now we feel like
- 29:04Speaker 3: we got to come and work.
- 29:06Speaker 1: It's work.
- 29:07Speaker 4: We just want to relax.
- 29:09Speaker 2: So it's excursions that you will be able to choose
- 29:13Speaker 2: from from ten until. The idea is that once you
- 29:18Speaker 2: register and you say what times are available to you,
- 29:21Speaker 2: we put it to where it's it's doable for you.
- 29:26Speaker 2: And so the idea is for us to for you
- 29:30Speaker 2: to walk away and be able to create.
- 29:33Speaker 3: That same space.
- 29:34Speaker 2: So We just want to create that space to where
- 29:36Speaker 2: it's not so much of a like like, it's not
- 29:41Speaker 2: an event, it's an experience.
- 29:43Speaker 1: It's there you go. That's the work right there, an experience.
- 29:48Speaker 1: It's an experience.
- 29:49Speaker 2: We want you to walk through the door and know like, Okay,
- 29:52Speaker 2: this where I'm supposed to be. Whether you show up
- 29:54Speaker 2: at ten or you show up at twelve, it's something for.
- 29:57Speaker 1: You to do, right. Yeah, yes, I love Listen. I'm
- 30:02Speaker 1: not so excited. I'm glad I'll be there. I'm looking
- 30:06Speaker 1: forward to it. I think that it's amazing to have
- 30:10Speaker 1: something like this because, like you said, when you go
- 30:12Speaker 1: on vacation, you want to do certain things. Those excursions
- 30:17Speaker 1: be lit. So I cannot wait to see what'll y'all
- 30:21Speaker 1: putting together. I know it's gonna be a beautiful thing. So,
- 30:24Speaker 1: Miss Pamela, what what do you want people to feel
- 30:27Speaker 1: when they come to the brunch?
- 30:31Speaker 2: Well, I tell you, when I think about the event,
- 30:35Speaker 2: kind of think about when when a group of friends
- 30:39Speaker 2: get together and they planning a sleepover and they plan
- 30:42Speaker 2: all these activities they want.
- 30:43Speaker 4: To do during the sleepover and have.
- 30:46Speaker 2: All this fun all night long over during the sleepover,
- 30:49Speaker 2: but of course, instead of a sleepover, it's gonna be
- 30:51Speaker 2: a day over. It's gonna be during the daytime, and
- 30:54Speaker 2: like I said, Erra said, a staycation, you know, and
- 30:58Speaker 2: just really everyone coming walking in feeling completely comfortable, completely relaxed,
- 31:07Speaker 2: feeling like they are amongst women that they have known
- 31:12Speaker 2: their entire life. Like Simone said, she and I met
- 31:15Speaker 2: each other on social media and when I was that
- 31:18Speaker 2: was before any of this, you.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Know, came to be.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I actually reached out to her and I asked if
- 31:22Speaker 2: I could call her, and we kind of had a
- 31:24Speaker 2: conversation about something. Then she and I just started conversating
- 31:27Speaker 2: and we were on the phone for like almost an hour,
- 31:29Speaker 2: you know, talking as if we had known each other
- 31:30Speaker 2: for a while.
- 31:31Speaker 4: So I want, you know, women to come and just.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Feel that like they are amongst women that they have
- 31:35Speaker 2: known their entire lives. They are with their friend groups
- 31:39Speaker 2: where they can really truly be relaxed. They don't have
- 31:42Speaker 2: to feel tense or embarrassed or ashamed about anything. They
- 31:46Speaker 2: can be completely relaxed and comfortable and enjoy themselves to
- 31:50Speaker 2: the fullest, enjoy every activity and just not be bashful
- 31:55Speaker 2: and just let it all loose and just have fun.
- 31:59Speaker 2: If that's hotel, tell the people when it is how
- 32:03Speaker 2: they can get tickets and come and be a part
- 32:06Speaker 2: of this event.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Okay, I guess it's March fifteenth, and that's a Saturday morning,
- 32:15Speaker 3: and it starts at ten like we said until and
- 32:18Speaker 3: it's at the Reimagined Woman Center. That's a seventy six
- 32:23Speaker 3: hundred airline highway, and they can get tickets at www
- 32:27Speaker 3: dot Weekend hyphengirl dot com.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Got it, And all of this information would be in
- 32:33Speaker 1: the show notes, guys, so you don't have an excuse.
- 32:36Speaker 1: You can go rewind, re listen however you want to
- 32:40Speaker 1: do it, and you will have it, or just look
- 32:43Speaker 1: at the show notes and read it and click on
- 32:45Speaker 1: the link, because I will have that available for you, guys.
- 32:48Speaker 1: But I love I love the concept behind it. I
- 32:51Speaker 1: love the concept behind the Weekend Girl. And so let's
- 32:55Speaker 1: talk about the importance of forming community and sisterhood because
- 32:59Speaker 1: we talk about the hatefulness and the back burning and
- 33:02Speaker 1: gossip and you know, just cat fighting and stuff all
- 33:05Speaker 1: the time. We see it on social media and things
- 33:07Speaker 1: like that. I don't partake in any of that. If
- 33:11Speaker 1: I can't uplift my sister, then you know, I'm gonna pray.
- 33:15Speaker 1: We ain't got to be friends, but I don't have
- 33:17Speaker 1: nothing bad to say. You ain't got to be in
- 33:19Speaker 1: my circle and have to be in yours. But I'm
- 33:21Speaker 1: gonna still ask God to lead your path. That's just
- 33:23Speaker 1: how I've always been having that community and sisterhood. What
- 33:29Speaker 1: do you guys think about the importance of forming that
- 33:32Speaker 1: because we all need that, whether we want to believe
- 33:34Speaker 1: it or not. God didn't put us here to be
- 33:36Speaker 1: alone in life.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Out of all those things that you didn't name that
- 33:39Speaker 3: you didn't say this one thing as a sisterhood what
- 33:43Speaker 3: this is what I see a lot of And I
- 33:46Speaker 3: work hard myself personally to impart on people, especially women,
- 33:53Speaker 3: that this is not the way and it's not the
- 33:55Speaker 3: way it's supposed to be. I see a lot of gatekeeping. Mh,
- 34:00Speaker 3: you have gatekeeping. And you can't put gatekeeping and sisterhood
- 34:04Speaker 3: in the same sentence, in the same paragraph, the same conversation,
- 34:08Speaker 3: same discussion. You cannot You cannot be a gatekeeper and
- 34:11Speaker 3: say that you are if you want sisterhood, that you
- 34:16Speaker 3: want to create opportunities for sisterhood to happen. You cannot
- 34:20Speaker 3: empower other women if you are a gatekeeper. So what
- 34:24Speaker 3: sisterhood and community looks like to me is you being
- 34:28Speaker 3: your sister's keeper, not a gatekeeper. I am my sister's keeper.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Anybody that anybody, you can't find one person on the
- 34:36Speaker 3: face of this earth that's ever text me, call me
- 34:38Speaker 3: or email me and ask me how to do something,
- 34:40Speaker 3: how to get something, how to find something, And I
- 34:43Speaker 3: didn't tell them. If I knew personally, I'm going to
- 34:45Speaker 3: help you. I'm going to show you. If I don't know,
- 34:48Speaker 3: then I'm going to connect you to the person that
- 34:50Speaker 3: can help you. That's what sisterhood looks like. We have
- 34:54Speaker 3: to be our sister's keeper. And that means not in
- 34:57Speaker 3: the good times, but in the bad times and in
- 34:59Speaker 3: between times, all times. I'm a firm believer that no
- 35:03Speaker 3: matter what's going on, I'm gonna go back a little bit.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I'm a firm believer. Then what's for Simon's for Simone?
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yes?
- 35:10Speaker 3: And I think that's where we get caught up as women.
- 35:14Speaker 3: We're so afraid that if I tell her this or
- 35:18Speaker 3: I share this with her, then she's going to do
- 35:20Speaker 3: better than me, She's going to be higher than me.
- 35:24Speaker 3: But I feel like if I help you, and you
- 35:25Speaker 3: get to where I can't with this, then you'll reach
- 35:27Speaker 3: back and you'll pull me up with you. And you know,
- 35:32Speaker 3: people consistently, you know. I hear women say that, you know,
- 35:35Speaker 3: everybody can't go with you, you know, And to some
- 35:39Speaker 3: extent I believe that. But to some extent I believe that,
- 35:43Speaker 3: for the most part, most of my sisters can come
- 35:46Speaker 3: with me. But you gotta be willing to be a
- 35:50Speaker 3: part of a true sisterhood. I'm gonna give you a
- 35:53Speaker 3: an example about sisterhood. And we don't these two lates
- 35:57Speaker 3: anything that I do. They support me. We've been since
- 36:00Speaker 3: we were five years old. We've been friends forty eight years.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Wow.
- 36:05Speaker 3: We have never had an argument, We've never been angry,
- 36:09Speaker 3: we never had a spat where we go and not
- 36:11Speaker 3: talk to each other. Now we don't talk to each
- 36:12Speaker 3: other every day, we don't see each other every day,
- 36:14Speaker 3: but we have a group text that we text at
- 36:17Speaker 3: least maybe once a day or once every other day.
- 36:20Speaker 3: We see each other, we do things together. But another
- 36:24Speaker 3: thing we have to also know as women, what's the
- 36:28Speaker 3: true definition of friendship? Is friendship and sisterhood All those
- 36:32Speaker 3: two words they are intertwined and we don't know what
- 36:36Speaker 3: it really is, what it really means to be a
- 36:38Speaker 3: friend for me, And like ms Pam said, we're all different.
- 36:41Speaker 3: But for me, what friendship is it's far to be
- 36:44Speaker 3: there when I really need you. You been at my
- 36:48Speaker 3: house every day does not make you my friend, right,
- 36:52Speaker 3: you know, us talking on the phone every day does
- 36:54Speaker 3: not make me. But when I lost my mother, that's
- 36:57Speaker 3: my friend. When my daughter have lost her father and
- 37:01Speaker 3: my friend, those two women were there. You know, when
- 37:03Speaker 3: when Lisa lost her dad, we were there. When our friend,
- 37:06Speaker 3: when when Patricia lost her husband two years ago, we
- 37:10Speaker 3: were there. You know, that's when you're there. So we
- 37:13Speaker 3: got to be our sister's keeper in the good, the bad,
- 37:18Speaker 3: and the ugly. And that's what sisterhood and community means
- 37:21Speaker 3: to surmount.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And I love, I loved something that you say about
- 37:25Speaker 1: believing that not everybody can come with you to a
- 37:28Speaker 1: certain extent. But I believe that, yeah, not everybody's gonna
- 37:31Speaker 1: be able to come with you along the journey, because
- 37:35Speaker 1: God would give you the journey to go and set
- 37:38Speaker 1: the pace or set that pathway for other people to
- 37:41Speaker 1: follow so they won't have to go through some of
- 37:43Speaker 1: the things that you encounter because he gave you that
- 37:46Speaker 1: strength to endure, and so they they can see, Okay,
- 37:51Speaker 1: if Kiki went and she didne had all this going
- 37:54Speaker 1: on and she made it through, she done let that
- 37:56Speaker 1: pathway for me. So I'm good because I know she
- 37:59Speaker 1: waiting on on the other side, waiting for me on
- 38:01Speaker 1: the other side. So let's just go that way. So
- 38:04Speaker 1: I believe that. Yeah, now everybody can go walk on
- 38:07Speaker 1: that journey as you go, but that don't mean that
- 38:09Speaker 1: they can't follow as you leave.
- 38:12Speaker 3: And I agree with you wholeheartedly on what you just
- 38:16Speaker 3: said because I look at so many women that I
- 38:19Speaker 3: see have overcome so much. That's encouragement to me. It
- 38:22Speaker 3: may not be quite the same situation, but you know,
- 38:26Speaker 3: all the women, you know, I can name many women
- 38:29Speaker 3: that I encounter every single day of my life. And
- 38:32Speaker 3: you know, people like Danita Tate, people like Liz Robinson.
- 38:39Speaker 3: You know, those are women that have had tremendous loss,
- 38:43Speaker 3: but they still get up every day and they go
- 38:47Speaker 3: and they encourage. I heard Liz Robinson lost her son
- 38:51Speaker 3: about five six years ago to violence. They interviewed her,
- 38:56Speaker 3: and I watched her interview when she said, even through
- 38:59Speaker 3: her her in her loss. Since her son was killed,
- 39:05Speaker 3: she has went to over two hundred mothers, been there
- 39:09Speaker 3: for them even through her own grief, in her own loss,
- 39:13Speaker 3: she was able to be those their keeper, the keeper
- 39:16Speaker 3: for those women. So people that do things that encourages me,
- 39:20Speaker 3: I don't know how. I've never lost a child, so
- 39:22Speaker 3: I have no clue. But I don't know how she's
- 39:24Speaker 3: able to do that because it's like she's reliving it.
- 39:28Speaker 3: He's literally relived it over two hundred times.
- 39:31Speaker 1: And she is one of the ones that I will
- 39:33Speaker 1: say that God gave her something special, Yes, before those
- 39:38Speaker 1: other women that she's slept, you know, pour into to
- 39:41Speaker 1: help them get over their grief in the midst of
- 39:43Speaker 1: her own. I love I love how she so she
- 39:48Speaker 1: she is so passionate about sharing the news, and she
- 39:51Speaker 1: is leaving that legacy of her son, you know, his
- 39:53Speaker 1: memory is it lives on through her constantly speaking about
- 39:59Speaker 1: him and helping up women get through it. And just
- 40:01Speaker 1: I just I love seeing her on social media, and
- 40:03Speaker 1: you know she was on the podcast as well. But yeah,
- 40:06Speaker 1: I love that. That was a great example from what
- 40:09Speaker 1: I would I would she would be the face of
- 40:11Speaker 1: what I just said about going for us to help
- 40:13Speaker 1: us along the way.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Absolutely, definitely, What.
- 40:17Speaker 1: About you, miss Pammela about the community and sisterhood.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Wow, so mone just says so much, it's hard to
- 40:24Speaker 2: top that about But I tell you one thing that
- 40:28Speaker 2: I definitely think about, which I really believe a lot
- 40:32Speaker 2: of women are concerned about this when they think about
- 40:36Speaker 2: sisterhood and developing relationships, is genuine relationships. Genuine relationships, you know,
- 40:46Speaker 2: ensuring that, you know, as we develop relationships and build sisterhoods,
- 40:50Speaker 2: that we're really truly genuine in our intentions, you know,
- 40:54Speaker 2: genuine when we were you know, assisting someone when we're
- 40:58Speaker 2: giving praise and adorations and that advice, when someone you
- 41:01Speaker 2: know feels that they can come to us with confidential
- 41:05Speaker 2: information for advice, being true to that genuine nature, you know,
- 41:13Speaker 2: if you have built this relationship in a sisterhood, a
- 41:15Speaker 2: person shouldn't have to in the back of their mind
- 41:17Speaker 2: wonder if you are expressed in concern but laughing on
- 41:22Speaker 2: the inside, or if you are expressed in concern but
- 41:25Speaker 2: then they're good, they have they're gonna have to be
- 41:28Speaker 2: concerned about hearing something from someone else because their confidential
- 41:33Speaker 2: information was shared.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Wouldness shouldn't have been.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Or you know, they they hear that this person who
- 41:39Speaker 2: they thought really truly had to bond with them really
- 41:44Speaker 2: was kind of you know, happy and basting in what
- 41:47Speaker 2: they're dealing with. It is really being genuine in our relationships, right,
- 41:53Speaker 2: And in order to be genuine you have in that relationship,
- 41:55Speaker 2: you have to be genuine in your heart.
- 41:57Speaker 3: So it all starts.
- 41:58Speaker 1: There, yeap, what's inwardly? All right? See our closes out
- 42:03Speaker 1: about that sisterhood and community.
- 42:05Speaker 3: I think it's unconditional. You have to lead in that way.
- 42:11Speaker 2: So what I you know, the group of friends that
- 42:14Speaker 2: I do have, they know me, I know them and
- 42:18Speaker 2: even when they don't speak or when even when we
- 42:21Speaker 2: don't talk because I don't talk to my my friends
- 42:23Speaker 2: every day, but when I do, we always know before
- 42:28Speaker 2: they even open them outh. And so I think that
- 42:31Speaker 2: particular gifting or relationships should be throughout our sisterhood to
- 42:39Speaker 2: where they don't have to say a word. We should
- 42:41Speaker 2: just know, you know, what type of love that they
- 42:44Speaker 2: need or what type of need there is in the room,
- 42:48Speaker 2: and being able to meet that need without without it
- 42:52Speaker 2: being anything else, you know, like no no strings attached,
- 42:57Speaker 2: nothing that you had to do, nothing you had to
- 42:59Speaker 2: say to me nothing.
- 43:01Speaker 1: You know, if you need it, then I have it.
- 43:03Speaker 2: So I think having that type of mindset in that
- 43:07Speaker 2: aspect would be more beneficial within the sisterhood than like
- 43:13Speaker 2: we said, we call it gatekeeping and you know, all
- 43:16Speaker 2: of the things that come with that, the guardedness that
- 43:18Speaker 2: some of us may have. I think those things are
- 43:21Speaker 2: more important than.
- 43:26Speaker 3: How we see it today.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Right, I love it, I love it. But this has
- 43:30Speaker 1: been an amazing episode you guys, thank you for coming
- 43:33Speaker 1: to kick with me. Have one final question. I just
- 43:36Speaker 1: want to ask you, guys, just to give your insight
- 43:38Speaker 1: or your input on this particular question for someone who
- 43:43Speaker 1: may be listening and just feel like they're alone when
- 43:46Speaker 1: it comes to embracing new faces of life, like knowing
- 43:51Speaker 1: that it's okay to each change, knowing its okay to evolve,
- 43:54Speaker 1: and knowing is okay to let go of the old
- 43:57Speaker 1: to embrace the new. So let's talk about that. Like,
- 43:59Speaker 1: what wed you say to someone who's listening about embracing
- 44:04Speaker 1: the new phases of life?
- 44:07Speaker 2: You are not your experience, and your experienced does not
- 44:11Speaker 2: just find where you're going. And a lot of times
- 44:15Speaker 2: we have to be willing to accept the new knowing
- 44:21Speaker 2: that it's new and that whatever you dealt with in
- 44:24Speaker 2: the past is not going to be the determining factor
- 44:27Speaker 2: of how you move forward. I love it, Yes, definitely,
- 44:33Speaker 2: and being able to move into.
- 44:37Speaker 4: Freely accepting the new.
- 44:39Speaker 2: That's the only way we can be able to step
- 44:40Speaker 2: into that next phase, step in to those doors that
- 44:44Speaker 2: God has opened for us. You know. Without that, we're
- 44:48Speaker 2: going to be that same place, stagnant place, kind of
- 44:52Speaker 2: wondering what's next for me, what's out there for me?
- 44:55Speaker 2: You know, we just have to you know, let it
- 44:57Speaker 2: loose and just go forward. Just do it.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Absolutely, just go for it.
- 45:05Speaker 3: I would say that just like I think Sierra and
- 45:08Speaker 3: Pam have said, you have to be able to allow
- 45:11Speaker 3: it to happen. You have to be at a place,
- 45:12Speaker 3: so I guess a point in your life in your journey,
- 45:17Speaker 3: uh here to know that it's time for a change.
- 45:20Speaker 3: And change is not always good. Uh sometimes change is
- 45:25Speaker 3: not necessarily a perfect But we have to be willing
- 45:29Speaker 3: to have that leap of faith. And it goes back
- 45:31Speaker 3: to faith, having faith. And I've come to the point
- 45:35Speaker 3: in life that whatever is, I know, whatever it's going
- 45:39Speaker 3: to be, I don't fight it, but you know, whatever's
- 45:42Speaker 3: going to happen, I allow it to happen. And I
- 45:45Speaker 3: just have faith in my My faith is you know,
- 45:47Speaker 3: I have faith in God. I used to not. I
- 45:50Speaker 3: used to not be that way, but as I've gotten older,
- 45:53Speaker 3: I've realized that sometimes that's the only truly what it is,
- 45:58Speaker 3: the only truly reliable even you know, man, you know,
- 46:01Speaker 3: man all disappoint you sometimes. Man. I used to hear
- 46:03Speaker 3: my grandmother said that all the time. And be honest,
- 46:06Speaker 3: I's wondering what that lady talking about. She said, man
- 46:09Speaker 3: and woman, she said, we'll disappoint you, we'll let you down.
- 46:14Speaker 3: But if you have faith in God, you know, the
- 46:17Speaker 3: faith the side of the size of a mustard seed.
- 46:20Speaker 3: And she's so right. And whatever it is that I
- 46:22Speaker 3: come up against, and because you know, if it's changed
- 46:24Speaker 3: or whatever the case may be, I just let go
- 46:26Speaker 3: and I embrace it. Uh, embrace changes. You know this
- 46:30Speaker 3: is good or bad?
- 46:31Speaker 1: Uh.
- 46:31Speaker 3: And it's a true statement. We all say, you know,
- 46:33Speaker 3: if even if it's lemons, I take it and make lemonade.
- 46:36Speaker 3: So yeah, Kiki, And if I can add one more thing.
- 46:40Speaker 3: There are too many people out there, especially when they
- 46:43Speaker 3: get older in life, they sit back and they go
- 46:46Speaker 3: through that what if could have, would have but could
- 46:51Speaker 3: have but didn't, would have but didn't?
- 46:53Speaker 4: What if?
- 46:55Speaker 1: Right? Absolutely, you don't want it. I mean, I know
- 46:58Speaker 1: we all we don't like to talk about death and
- 47:02Speaker 1: leaving this world or whatever, but it's inevitable. We all
- 47:06Speaker 1: have that cross to bear. So would you rather you
- 47:10Speaker 1: leave it all here and say, hey, I did everything
- 47:13Speaker 1: that I can to be the best version of myself
- 47:15Speaker 1: while I was here, or would you be like dang
- 47:18Speaker 1: living in regret or you know, in regret. And that's
- 47:22Speaker 1: one thing that I try to make sure that I
- 47:24Speaker 1: never live in regret. Yeah, I made some bad decisions,
- 47:27Speaker 1: but they have helped shape and mow me into the
- 47:30Speaker 1: person that I am today. So I'm able to talk
- 47:33Speaker 1: about it with my kids or my nieces and nephews
- 47:36Speaker 1: and things like that so that I can help them.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but because
- 47:41Speaker 1: sometimes people have to learn the hard way, but I'm
- 47:43Speaker 1: gonna be here to hold you and say, you know,
- 47:46Speaker 1: you know, what did you learn from that? Is? Let's
- 47:49Speaker 1: talk about it because I have a similar experience. You know,
- 47:52Speaker 1: I'm not one of those people that try to preach
- 47:54Speaker 1: and things like that, because everybody don't receive from that.
- 47:59Speaker 1: I'm not one of them to receive from that. But love,
- 48:02Speaker 1: I love all of the answers that your lady said.
- 48:06Speaker 1: This is like, I'm excited about season eight. If this
- 48:08Speaker 1: is the opener of season eight, it's gonna be a
- 48:11Speaker 1: great season. So I am excited about Blossom and brunch.
- 48:16Speaker 1: I cannot wait to be in the space with you
- 48:18Speaker 1: ladies and give you all a hug. And before we
- 48:22Speaker 1: get off, are there any last words that you would
- 48:25Speaker 1: like to leave the listeners with today?
- 48:28Speaker 3: And this may seem a little said what's been said before,
- 48:33Speaker 3: but just learn to live, love and laugh. That's what
- 48:36Speaker 3: I've had to learn to do. Live, love and laugh
- 48:39Speaker 3: and live with no regrets and enjoy life. Life is
- 48:42Speaker 3: too short not to embrace it and love it. I
- 48:47Speaker 3: just want to say, you know, just like she said,
- 48:51Speaker 3: embrace the season, but also I don't know, like that
- 48:54Speaker 3: just keeps ringing like.
- 48:55Speaker 2: You are not your experience, You're not what you've experienced,
- 48:59Speaker 2: and you know it's important that you know you're able
- 49:03Speaker 2: to embrace the newness, knowing that the experience that you
- 49:07Speaker 2: face can be something that you move past.
- 49:11Speaker 4: Yes, Love, yourself.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Love who you are, Embrace who you are, Celebrate who
- 49:17Speaker 2: you are.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Absolutely so with that being said, you guys have been
- 49:23Speaker 1: listening to another episode of Kicking In with Kiki, Life,
- 49:25Speaker 1: love and all that other shit.
- 49:27Speaker 4: I am back.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Every Thursday with a new episode until next time. Love yourself,
- 49:32Speaker 1: embrace those new new beginnings you know, don't be afraid
- 49:36Speaker 1: to change and try something new. Grab your friends and
- 49:40Speaker 1: see us in March at this event. I want to
- 49:43Speaker 1: see y'all there. Information about the event is in the
- 49:47Speaker 1: show notes again and later Purple HUDs chick in it
- 50:00Speaker 2: Well eight
