- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, my loves. This is Lala Kent with Randall, and
- 0:10Speaker 1: today we are interviewing one of the most beloved, absolutely wonderful,
- 0:17Speaker 1: really handsome gentlemen on Bravo. You may know him from
- 0:23Speaker 1: his first or second facelift. He is really funny, very
- 0:28Speaker 1: very witty. He has been on million Dollar listing for
- 0:31Speaker 1: over fifteen years. I present you Josh Flagg.
- 0:37Speaker 2: What up Josh Flag? Josh before we dive into Josh Flag.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yeah, all things Josh Flag, All things Josh. It's going
- 0:45Speaker 3: to be one of the most fun episodes ever.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I agree, because he's funny as fuck.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You're welcome, Thank you.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So it's a really special podcast for me today because
- 0:55Speaker 2: the second season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake just
- 1:00Speaker 2: aired on September twelfth, and it has me shaking in
- 1:04Speaker 2: my mother fucking nikes. Okay, do you guys watch that show? No,
- 1:09Speaker 2: are you familiar with Genshaw? Either of you? Okay, Genshaw
- 1:14Speaker 2: from Utah. She is in a lot of trouble because
- 1:17Speaker 2: she was running this scheme where she would call people
- 1:23Speaker 2: and mostly elderly people. This is what's being pinned on her.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Nothing's been proven yet. Let me just put that out there.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And she it was like a bunch of different things,
- 1:35Speaker 2: like saying, oh you're you know, the I R. S
- 1:38Speaker 2: Is contacting you for this, and these old people are like,
- 1:41Speaker 2: oh my gosh, and they just give their credit card
- 1:43Speaker 2: number or whatever it may be. And what she would.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Do is other people that were running, yes, other show.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Real Housewives of Salt Lake season. Okay, so we're reading,
- 1:56Speaker 2: I'm reading all of these things. Little did I know
- 1:59Speaker 2: they had picked up cameras and caught all of this shit. Okay,
- 2:02Speaker 2: So how she made most of the money again allegedly,
- 2:07Speaker 2: is that other scam artists would call her and they
- 2:11Speaker 2: would pay for her call sheets. Whoever she was calling
- 2:16Speaker 2: that were successful, like give me your money for no reason.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And by the way, no one ever knew what she
- 2:21Speaker 2: did for a living. She had like this fabulous office,
- 2:23Speaker 2: this fabulous life, and everyone was like, but what do
- 2:24Speaker 2: you do? She could never give a straight answer.
- 2:27Speaker 1: What was her go to answer?
- 2:28Speaker 2: There was never an answer.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I don't do anything.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Until the reunion and she said that she runs the algorithm.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So anytime you see an ad on social media, people
- 2:39Speaker 2: pay her to put those ads, like you sell real estate.
- 2:44Speaker 2: So maybe a bunch of like furniture places pop up
- 2:46Speaker 2: onto your you know whatever. She obviously does not do that.
- 2:53Speaker 2: So the beginning of the first episode on Sunday shows
- 2:58Speaker 2: her taking a phone call d micing she leaves. All
- 3:02Speaker 2: of the fucking sudden, the cops come flying in, helicopters
- 3:07Speaker 2: hovering above, and then they do that thing where it's
- 3:10Speaker 2: like two months earlier. You guys, this is better than
- 3:15Speaker 2: Housewives of Shore going to be season Well, she they
- 3:20Speaker 2: did take her to jail. She has said that she
- 3:23Speaker 2: will be doing season three, but who knows. You guys
- 3:28Speaker 2: look so uninterested in what I'm saying.
- 3:31Speaker 3: So, first of all, how can you expect me, over
- 3:34Speaker 3: the last hundred and one hundred episodes to ever be
- 3:37Speaker 3: to even know what?
- 3:38Speaker 2: You ever seen an episode of Housewives where there have
- 3:40Speaker 2: been helicopter any any?
- 3:43Speaker 4: I've seen the OC, you know, I've seen the OC.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Where helicopters are hovering above and the freaking SBI or whatever.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Rule us this is on the show. Yes, that's exciting.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Sing We're looking for jen Shaw and everyone's looking at
- 3:57Speaker 2: each other, even the camera men are looking at each other.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Producers are involved, they know that they were filming or
- 4:02Speaker 1: just half a quincient old timing.
- 4:04Speaker 2: What they're saying. They were like, how did they know
- 4:07Speaker 2: Jen was here? You know? And there were two cast
- 4:10Speaker 2: members that didn't show up to the castle, So they're
- 4:13Speaker 2: like one of these motherfuckers must have tipped them off.
- 4:15Speaker 1: But why so they could watch that's fun, Like why
- 4:18Speaker 1: would they not show up?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Well, it was crazy because she got the phone call
- 4:22Speaker 2: and it happened five seconds later.
- 4:25Speaker 4: What was the phone call?
- 4:26Speaker 2: We don't know. She gets on the phone, she's like, Okay,
- 4:29Speaker 2: what's happening. She looks at her friend and goes, you
- 4:30Speaker 2: need to take my mic off of me right now.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And they're like setting up cameras, Like the camera crew
- 4:35Speaker 2: is in there.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I got to see this. That's that's crazy. That's crazy.
- 4:38Speaker 4: That's that's a helicopter.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, yeah, helicopter.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I mean she scammed millions of millions of dollars from
- 4:50Speaker 2: these old people.
- 4:52Speaker 1: They wouldn't allow someone like that back on the show
- 4:54Speaker 1: for another season though, that doesn't make any sense.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Well, I didn't say Bravo confirmed it, but I've heard
- 4:58Speaker 2: through my Bravo Cults people Jen Lake is like fully
- 5:04Speaker 2: down to do another seasons.
- 5:07Speaker 4: That she won't come back. They won't because we.
- 5:09Speaker 2: All have skeletons in our closet.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But people, after calms, you're not coming back to helicopter.
- 5:15Speaker 4: That's it.
- 5:15Speaker 3: If the FBI is walking with the jackets on, you're
- 5:17Speaker 3: you're you're not coming back.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Oh they rolled in deep trust me?
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Jed, No, that's Jens last season.
- 5:25Speaker 3: The Bravo is a big network with a with a
- 5:28Speaker 3: big studio.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And oh my god, I love this. So for the
- 5:34Speaker 2: first segment is spill the Tea. We spilled the tea, Josh,
- 5:37Speaker 2: thank you for an epic intro.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yes, now we actually have to go in your segment, Josh,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and have you as our guests.
- 5:44Speaker 2: We'll be back after a quick break with Josh Flag.
- 5:52Speaker 2: We are back and we have Josh Flag. You know
- 5:56Speaker 2: him from Million Dollars Listing.
- 5:58Speaker 4: LA and be honest, my favorite shows tell the truth.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I think it's most people like even if you're not
- 6:04Speaker 2: like down with Bravo, you're not in the Bravo cult,
- 6:07Speaker 2: you tune in to watch Million Dollar Listing.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yes you do. And we've been doing this for fourteen years.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I can't even believe that that's insane.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And that's a long time. I cannot believe that the
- 6:24Speaker 1: U is.
- 6:24Speaker 4: That the longest running reality show.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I think the only other one is the Actor.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Studio may Have. Oh that's not on the air either anymore.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's going to be one of the top.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I mean for sure. Fourteen years is absolutely.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Have you seen my porn by the way, your porn.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Yeah, million dollar fisting.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I actually only knew about a million dollar listing because
- 6:43Speaker 2: you've been fisting for seasons. Right.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I just want to because a lot of people that
- 6:48Speaker 1: have not known about my porn, I'm promoting it now.
- 6:51Speaker 4: I'm gonna check it out some.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's awesome.
- 6:53Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 6:54Speaker 3: So as a fan of this show, I have to
- 6:56Speaker 3: say because I watched New York and obviously Beverly Hills
- 6:59Speaker 3: is the key for us because we live here. Just
- 7:04Speaker 3: take us through, like for people that don't know reality,
- 7:06Speaker 3: like what the process like. Because for me, I run
- 7:09Speaker 3: a business like you, like, my livelihood is not reality.
- 7:12Speaker 3: My livelihood is making movies. And since I've had a
- 7:15Speaker 3: kind of come on to her show a little bit,
- 7:17Speaker 3: it definitely skews with my schedule like my business, but
- 7:20Speaker 3: this it feels like it feeds it perfectly. Like being
- 7:23Speaker 3: on a show and selling homes does it work. Is
- 7:26Speaker 3: it difficult at times? Is it frustrating or is it
- 7:29Speaker 3: easy and just kidding?
- 7:30Speaker 1: The best energy ever. I mean it's like, well, first
- 7:32Speaker 1: of all, I mean the show is amazing because you
- 7:34Speaker 1: think about like a normal real estate agent whatever, like
- 7:37Speaker 1: pays all this money to advertise the cover of the
- 7:39Speaker 1: La Times and it is like that whatever, like this
- 7:41Speaker 1: is free advertisment. You can't ask for better. Totally, It's
- 7:44Speaker 1: like the greatest thing on earth.
- 7:45Speaker 3: It's like for you, law we talk about that all
- 7:46Speaker 3: the time, like you being on the show as a
- 7:48Speaker 3: promotion for all your brands.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Absolutely, no, of course.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So how long have you been a real estate agent?
- 7:53Speaker 1: Since I was eighteen? Oh shit, yes?
- 7:55Speaker 2: And holding out twenty one too. He's on fire, he
- 8:02Speaker 2: is on fire. Okay, so you were obviously a real
- 8:05Speaker 2: estate agent long long before the show appeared.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It was sixty nine months. I've been like, yeah, I've
- 8:13Speaker 1: been broke since I was eighteen, and I've been on
- 8:15Speaker 1: the show that since I was twenty two twenty one.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Wow, holy shit, oh my god, I grew up on
- 8:20Speaker 3: television Myself's.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Amazing because they just come to you, I know, for
- 8:24Speaker 2: me being on vander Pump Rules it's because I was
- 8:28Speaker 2: a hostess and it was based on the restaurant that
- 8:30Speaker 2: I was hostessing at with you guys, did you know
- 8:35Speaker 2: the other people that are on the show. I know
- 8:37Speaker 2: there's been like you didn't know you knew them?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Yes, Oh that's I didn't know that I didn't know
- 8:42Speaker 3: you guys all like you all worked.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean, I mean it would like if
- 8:46Speaker 1: you were a host in one restaurant, you wouldn't know
- 8:48Speaker 1: a host in another restaurant, right you were, Well maybe
- 8:50Speaker 1: you would, I don't know, like maybe like like the
- 8:52Speaker 1: top hosts in town know each other, all buddies of
- 8:55Speaker 1: each other. It's like the host crew, but like in
- 8:58Speaker 1: real estate, of course you know your top competitor.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Okay, so you guys all knew of each other or knew.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Those people are no longer on the show though.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Who's who's left on the show from the original nobody?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Just you're the only oge.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Wow, we got.
- 9:12Speaker 2: To when when did Josh Altman come in?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Five years later?
- 9:16Speaker 3: But you guys, when I watched the show, despise each other.
- 9:19Speaker 3: And lately I've seen on the GRAM that you guys
- 9:21Speaker 3: are like buddies.
- 9:22Speaker 4: What buddies?
- 9:23Speaker 3: So how did you go from like wanting to destroy
- 9:25Speaker 3: one another? I mean it was we fucked. Okay, that
- 9:32Speaker 3: settles that.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So that's how we became friends again.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Okay?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Was it one night or was like over a weekend?
- 9:37Speaker 1: It was like a weekend.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it was Wait, hold on, what do you mean again?
- 9:40Speaker 2: You guys got along at the beginning. You say you
- 9:43Speaker 2: got along at the beginning. You said we became friends again.
- 9:45Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, sorry, we did not get along in
- 9:47Speaker 1: the beginning.
- 9:47Speaker 2: We did because he sold. Is that why you didn't
- 9:50Speaker 2: like him?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Because what he sold more houses than you?
- 9:52Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, was he better than you?
- 9:54Speaker 1: No, it wasn't about that. He just sold a different
- 9:56Speaker 1: caliber home than I did.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Explain.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Wait, hold on, time out, because now like to hear this, Yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 3: define caliber difference.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Let's see I sell. Let's see. If I was to
- 10:07Speaker 1: relate it to a fine wine, I would say that
- 10:09Speaker 1: I sell twenty thirteen Opus Napa Valley red wine. I
- 10:14Speaker 1: would say that he sells a what is that ship
- 10:19Speaker 1: called Franzia Franzia Fransier. Now that's that's that's a little
- 10:23Speaker 1: abdumb's that's generals cubuc chalk. Yeah, Oh, he is very
- 10:30Speaker 1: good at it.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It sells the screw off top.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Yeah, he is very good at it.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Yes, but today I assume he sells the same.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Level he's upgraded to Corbell.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Yes, he's still not selling opus.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Okay, give me just because I like numbers and I'm
- 10:45Speaker 3: a numbers person. Be in the movie business, and explain
- 10:47Speaker 3: to me the highest price home you ever.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Sold forty million?
- 10:51Speaker 3: And when and when and when you sold a forty
- 10:55Speaker 3: million home? Yeah, for me, like when I made my
- 10:58Speaker 3: biggest film of my career, let's say Irishman or something,
- 11:01Speaker 3: it is a big moment for me in my life.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Do you celebrate the day you get that listing or
- 11:04Speaker 3: celebrate the day you sell it? Is there a big
- 11:06Speaker 3: moment or it's just like, oh, business as usual.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I started buying a lot of art when I started
- 11:10Speaker 1: doing really well when I was younger, I didn't but
- 11:13Speaker 1: at that, but now I don't really celebrate moments. I
- 11:16Speaker 1: don't really know. I don't celebrate moments. But when I
- 11:17Speaker 1: started in the career, that's when I would start treating
- 11:19Speaker 1: myself to like, you know.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Special moments.
- 11:22Speaker 3: So but but a forty million dollar home, that's like,
- 11:25Speaker 3: is there only a very handful of like select candful
- 11:27Speaker 3: of buyers. Do you have to go out to a
- 11:29Speaker 3: mass Like, how do you sell a forty million dollar home?
- 11:31Speaker 4: Just curious? Is there? Is it? Just put the sign
- 11:33Speaker 4: in the front yard and show up run. I don't know.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know know.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I advertise at the at the market. You know, I
- 11:39Speaker 1: have a on the shopping car holding a dull lapdog.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I'm just trying to understand, like being the best of
- 11:47Speaker 3: the best in this world, what separates you to be
- 11:49Speaker 3: able to sell forty million dollars home versus somebody who
- 11:52Speaker 3: can't sell million.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You know, one percent of us do ninety nine percent
- 11:55Speaker 1: of the business, So it's not just you know, there's
- 11:57Speaker 1: ten of us that do this and I don't know.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't know that. I didn't know that.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I mean, look, I've had upper hand, like I grew
- 12:03Speaker 1: up here, so that helped, right, But I also a
- 12:05Speaker 1: lot of people think I just had an upperhand and
- 12:07Speaker 1: I didn't do anything else. There's a lot of people
- 12:09Speaker 1: I grew up with that went to school that like
- 12:11Speaker 1: do nothing these days right now, That's very true, So
- 12:13Speaker 1: you have to do something with that. I have an
- 12:15Speaker 1: innate knowledge about real estate that most people, well most
- 12:18Speaker 1: people don't care about half the stuff that I know, right,
- 12:21Speaker 1: But it translates when I'm on a listing appointment or
- 12:23Speaker 1: when I'm with somebody and they want to know about
- 12:25Speaker 1: real estate and they asked me about it, and like
- 12:27Speaker 1: they're just like blown away with the shit that I know,
- 12:29Speaker 1: which half of it is useless information, but they know
- 12:32Speaker 1: I know my stuff.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Right now, I have to say when I decided to
- 12:35Speaker 2: be a normal person for five seconds and I moved
- 12:38Speaker 2: back to Utah, I decided that I wanted to get
- 12:41Speaker 2: my real estate license, and I was so fucking bored.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I was like, I cannot do this. How am I
- 12:49Speaker 2: supposed to care about any of this? So the fact
- 12:52Speaker 2: that you are as successful as you are and you
- 12:55Speaker 2: know all the shit, that's pretty incredible, right.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I don't know if it's incredible, it's just what I know. Like,
- 13:01Speaker 1: you know, I don't have a lot of talents. I'm
- 13:03Speaker 1: good at certain things, right, I'm like an idiot savant,
- 13:05Speaker 1: but maybe just I'm an idiot, you know. I know,
- 13:07Speaker 1: like like what I know well and the other stuff
- 13:09Speaker 1: I'm I can't even spread on a idea.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Did you always like the movies? I like I always
- 13:14Speaker 3: tell you, I don't know anything else.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I just know what.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I were hard. Like, yes, it was a lot of
- 13:21Speaker 2: information that I just could not I just couldn't grasp it.
- 13:25Speaker 2: So at what point did you were you always interested
- 13:29Speaker 2: in real estate? Like what made you choose that?
- 13:31Speaker 1: When I was a kid, my sister was really close
- 13:34Speaker 1: friends with Fred Savage from the Wonder Years.
- 13:36Speaker 4: And so Fred Savage is a huge pickleball player, by
- 13:39Speaker 4: the way.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Really, yes, absolutely shows up the tournaments the whole day.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, next time you see him, Yeah, go ahead. So
- 13:45Speaker 1: when I was a kid, so I went to Brentwood
- 13:46Speaker 1: School and my sister went to Brentwin. I remember when
- 13:48Speaker 1: I was a kid, Fred told me, you know, you
- 13:50Speaker 1: got to be an agent when you get older, Like
- 13:52Speaker 1: not like William Moore's kind of agent, not like a
- 13:54Speaker 1: you know, endeavor, not like a real estate agent. I got,
- 13:57Speaker 1: this is a great idea, right, Okay, it's not. I'm
- 13:59Speaker 1: going to be an agent. So I'm held everybody for
- 14:01Speaker 1: ten years. I'm going to be an agent. I'm be
- 14:02Speaker 1: an agent.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Right now I'm like fifteen years old or whatever, I
- 14:04Speaker 1: still want to be an agent. So my uncle was
- 14:07Speaker 1: a pretty big upper guy at William Morris at the
- 14:09Speaker 1: time before it was William Morris Endeavor. And so he goes, well,
- 14:12Speaker 1: if you want to be an agent, who who done
- 14:14Speaker 1: to Mosquito? He was originally at Columbia a star and
- 14:16Speaker 1: then he went to yeah, and so then he so
- 14:19Speaker 1: he goes, we got to start reading a variety. Okay,
- 14:21Speaker 1: I go, this is fantastic. So mom and Dad gave
- 14:23Speaker 1: me a risk, you know, subscription a variety. So first
- 14:25Speaker 1: variety comes, the second variety comes. It's like a stack
- 14:28Speaker 1: of rise. It's you know, like you know, like forty varieties,
- 14:31Speaker 1: and rye and open the collecting cobwebs. And my mom goes,
- 14:34Speaker 1: what the fuck are you gonna be an agent? You
- 14:35Speaker 1: don't even want to open. You don't care about this shit.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You're not going to be an agent. So we canceled
- 14:39Speaker 1: that dream. She crushed my dreams. And then I thought
- 14:41Speaker 1: I would become an architect. Well then I realized I
- 14:44Speaker 1: didn't want to build houses for other people. I just
- 14:46Speaker 1: want to do that kind of stuff for myself. And
- 14:48Speaker 1: so I thought to enough, what can I do? I
- 14:49Speaker 1: love design, I love people. Put to tuo together, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: design houses people. You get a real estate agent, and
- 14:56Speaker 1: so that was that.
- 14:56Speaker 4: That's great.
- 14:57Speaker 2: That was that.
- 14:57Speaker 4: That's great.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So he became one at eighteen.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I became in real estate agent eighteen.
- 15:01Speaker 4: And you failed fairly. You failed the test the first time.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Raid on gas gets you every time. That was the question,
- 15:07Speaker 1: what is it radon gas? Exactly? You don't need to
- 15:10Speaker 1: know about it exactly?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Okay, what was the first What was the first check
- 15:16Speaker 2: you got from your first home that you were like, okay.
- 15:20Speaker 1: On the corner of Alpine and Sunset, it was how
- 15:22Speaker 1: much cherry famous the check?
- 15:24Speaker 4: Really? Now, how much was the house for sale?
- 15:26Speaker 1: What was the check for Well, at the time it
- 15:27Speaker 1: was six million, but keep in mind at the time
- 15:29Speaker 1: six million was the equivalent of like a twenty million dollars.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It was a very famous. It was a lime green
- 15:33Speaker 1: painted house that was burned down in the eighties, zoned
- 15:35Speaker 1: by a chic and I had pubic hair on on
- 15:37Speaker 1: the statues. You know about this.
- 15:38Speaker 2: It's really famous, intentional pubic hair on the stage.
- 15:42Speaker 1: So she bought the property. It was a very famous
- 15:44Speaker 1: was he painted a lime green and put naked statues
- 15:46Speaker 1: all around the property and painted them all green and
- 15:48Speaker 1: put like like hair all over it. It was like
- 15:51Speaker 1: a whole thing. It was a big deal in Beverly.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It was called the Sheik's Property. It's world famous. Okay,
- 15:54Speaker 1: if you look at the Steve Martin movie was filmed there,
- 15:57Speaker 1: the one with that. It was called the The Whatever.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It was a very famous movie.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Anyway, it burned down. The neighbors burnt it. Anyway, So
- 16:04Speaker 1: I sold half of the lot. Wow sale. And because
- 16:08Speaker 1: I always believed in like felicity, so the first thing
- 16:10Speaker 1: I did was I called I was still at Beverly
- 16:12Speaker 1: Hills High School at the time, so I called up
- 16:13Speaker 1: Ruthie Ryan at the Ballet Times, who was this old
- 16:16Speaker 1: woman who's probably dead now, who was the basically the
- 16:19Speaker 1: hot property person. She wrote all the articles on the sales.
- 16:21Speaker 1: And I called her, but I said, put an article
- 16:23Speaker 1: the paper. It says eighteen year old sell Sheek's property.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Boom. I was done, and that was it. Wow, Wow,
- 16:27Speaker 4: that's awesome.
- 16:29Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 16:30Speaker 4: And what did you do with your first check?
- 16:32Speaker 1: I bought a calder.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Really yeah, you're like really serious guy.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I like my art.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I was going to say.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I mean that I starting collected. And then I bought
- 16:40Speaker 1: another calder, and then another I started having quite a
- 16:42Speaker 1: few calls.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I got your age to do that. That's very sea.
- 16:45Speaker 1: It was kind of weird at it, like nineteen having
- 16:47Speaker 1: a called her.
- 16:48Speaker 4: You know, like, what the fuck?
- 16:49Speaker 2: But you came from a pretty incredible family. Yeah, that
- 16:57Speaker 2: remind me Edith. She was in fashion. Yeah, your grandmother. Yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 2: so you probably grew up very differently than most people.
- 17:04Speaker 2: You saw, like things like art work.
- 17:07Speaker 3: You know.
- 17:07Speaker 2: I didn't see those things growing up in.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Utah about you, but not necessarily because I grew up.
- 17:14Speaker 1: All the kids I grew up with I would assume
- 17:16Speaker 1: had the ability to see nice things and things like that.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I don't think they cared about that kind of stuff.
- 17:20Speaker 3: That's the difference, right because at eighteen, I mean I
- 17:22Speaker 3: grew up in the arts from a young age. I
- 17:23Speaker 3: went proming art hide school, so I learned about art
- 17:26Speaker 3: in high school and then into I went to art
- 17:28Speaker 3: school for college.
- 17:29Speaker 4: So I was lucky.
- 17:30Speaker 3: But I think, but I do think a lot of people,
- 17:33Speaker 3: I think you're right at eighteen around me didn't give
- 17:36Speaker 3: a shit about art.
- 17:37Speaker 4: I give a shit about art because I was around artists.
- 17:38Speaker 2: But I just noticed most of my friends that were privileged.
- 17:41Speaker 4: In did they know about high school.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Like their families who were buying nice pieces, they tend
- 17:47Speaker 2: to be away. Yes, like me, I'm fucking going to
- 17:51Speaker 2: z gallery and buying a picture of a zebra.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have a heart attack, and I happen.
- 17:57Speaker 3: See me in college, I was hanging you know, Keith
- 17:59Speaker 3: Haring posters, you know, and Andy Warhol post.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I bought my first Keith Hearing when I was twenty
- 18:03Speaker 1: like that was you.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Know, yeah, see that's young.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I bought my first key Thearing Anne Warhol at twenty seven.
- 18:09Speaker 3: But like you at twenty seven, I'm fifty. So at
- 18:13Speaker 3: twenty seven, you know, I made like you.
- 18:15Speaker 4: I made.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I made six or seven million dollars overnight back then,
- 18:18Speaker 3: which would have been.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Like twenty yeah. And I I old you said, twenty
- 18:22Speaker 4: seven twenty eight money. Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 3: But the thing is I wasn't as disciplined to shoot.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I was living up the life and going out and
- 18:30Speaker 3: doing all that stuff. Ferrari, yeah, because I.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Was on the wrong with my Ferrari. If you buy
- 18:34Speaker 1: the right Ferrari.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Bought, I always bought it good. I always bought the
- 18:37Speaker 3: ferraris good, and I always sold them good. That's one
- 18:39Speaker 3: thing I was with cars.
- 18:40Speaker 4: But I wish I would have bought a shit ton
- 18:42Speaker 4: more art.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Well we all do I hello, like before COVID, I mean,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I mean, would you have thought that? You know, I
- 18:49Speaker 1: never went up sixty five times?
- 18:50Speaker 3: Never, never, you know, I'm going to tell one story.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I'm you know, like, I'm a fanatic with Andy Warhol
- 18:56Speaker 3: and Keith Haring specifically.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Yeah, And I when I was twenty seven on it
- 18:59Speaker 3: first spend money. I was in New York in college
- 19:02Speaker 3: with these posters I used to have in my wall.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I was like, finally I can afford these artists. And
- 19:06Speaker 3: I and I went to the Art Gallery Hamilton, right, Hamilton, Yeah, yeah, yeah, no,
- 19:13Speaker 3: But there's a funny story, and I bought this thing
- 19:16Speaker 3: called any Mouse.
- 19:16Speaker 4: There were four pieces.
- 19:18Speaker 3: It was a collaboration between Keith Harring, Andy Warhol and
- 19:21Speaker 3: one of the few that have their signatures and has
- 19:23Speaker 3: dollars signs with Mickey Mouse bab Bah. So I went
- 19:25Speaker 3: in and they had the four pieces and they're like,
- 19:27Speaker 3: we'll sell you all four for like eighty k and
- 19:31Speaker 3: I was like, that's even though I had all this money,
- 19:32Speaker 3: I was like, that's a lot. Back in the day,
- 19:34Speaker 3: that's a lot. But I'll take one. So I bought
- 19:36Speaker 3: one for twenty.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You split up the set or they were just split
- 19:39Speaker 1: up the set.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Oh, hold on, it gets worse.
- 19:42Speaker 3: So I end up selling a few years later for
- 19:45Speaker 3: whatever reason, at twenty nine or whatever, I just decided
- 19:47Speaker 3: I'm gonna get rid of this, and I saw it
- 19:49Speaker 3: for like sixty or seventy K two years three years ago.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I call up all over the world and I'm trying
- 19:54Speaker 3: to find Andy Mouse one, two three four. I think
- 19:58Speaker 3: they're going to be you know, like one hundre hundred
- 19:59Speaker 3: and fifty, they're going the set for a million to
- 20:02Speaker 3: million seven.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to jump off. You fucked Yea, I
- 20:06Speaker 4: fucked up? Yeah, I fucked up.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Try selling a goal wing before you knew it was
- 20:10Speaker 1: going to become a two million.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Dollar or an Enzo Ferrari when they used to be
- 20:15Speaker 3: four hundred k and now they're three million, three and
- 20:17Speaker 3: a half million.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 3: There's a lot of things I go back, but art
- 20:20Speaker 3: is like one thing I've learned. If you just keep it,
- 20:22Speaker 3: then you don't ever have done.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Is that your go to? Like when you get a
- 20:24Speaker 2: big check, do you always treat yourself?
- 20:27Speaker 1: No? No, No, I don't really do the I don't. I'm
- 20:31Speaker 1: a compulsive buyer of things at auction.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Oh are you?
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yes? And I've just discovered my friend Candy Spelling is
- 20:39Speaker 1: also a compulsive buyer of things at auction. I know
- 20:42Speaker 1: this now because it's like three or four in the morning.
- 20:44Speaker 1: We will call each other while we're watching Criminal Minds.
- 20:47Speaker 1: That's our favorite TV show.
- 20:48Speaker 3: One of my favorite shows, especially when they get on
- 20:49Speaker 3: the G five fifty at the end after like and.
- 20:52Speaker 1: They do that poem with that I don't know what
- 20:53Speaker 1: is that stupid poem thing at the end every time.
- 20:55Speaker 3: When when when the darkness sets, just show me the
- 20:59Speaker 3: fucking blood.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I don't want to with the darkness.
- 21:02Speaker 4: I can't.
- 21:03Speaker 3: By the way, I'm very close with Randy Spelling. Oh
- 21:05Speaker 3: really yeah, very close since he was fifteen.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Were like friends.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Corry and I are very close and Candy and Ivery, no.
- 21:11Speaker 2: We know you're really close because we see all of
- 21:14Speaker 2: your dinner parties on Instagram that Randall and I are
- 21:16Speaker 2: never invited to.
- 21:17Speaker 4: We would never and I never leave.
- 21:18Speaker 2: My house, but I would come to your house.
- 21:21Speaker 1: You can come.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I'm I never have. I have fomo every time I
- 21:28Speaker 2: see somebody, but.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I love to Tory was a friend forever. They both
- 21:33Speaker 3: but Ranny and I have stayed in touch ever since and.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Heard the next one.
- 21:37Speaker 4: And their dad was a big mentor to me.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Wrote my first letter of recommendation how I got my
- 21:42Speaker 3: first job in Hollywood? Really the best story ever. So
- 21:46Speaker 3: I have the letter framed from an ear How did
- 21:47Speaker 3: you know him? Uh?
- 21:49Speaker 4: This goes way back. So Mark grew up here. I
- 21:52Speaker 4: did not.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I moved here from film school after I graduate film
- 21:54Speaker 3: school twenty three and Mark Wahlberg, who is my one
- 21:58Speaker 3: of my best friends, went and met Aaron Spelling at
- 22:01Speaker 3: the house for a job for a TV show and.
- 22:04Speaker 4: We met Randy. When when is marky Mark turning into
- 22:08Speaker 4: Mark Walden?
- 22:09Speaker 3: He transformed when he was transitioning transitions and and uh
- 22:13Speaker 3: and he and he ended up not doing this particular show,
- 22:16Speaker 3: but we became friends with Randy. We're playing basketball and
- 22:18Speaker 3: we just kind of all the kind of knew each other.
- 22:21Speaker 3: And then I put Randy in a movie, in his
- 22:22Speaker 3: first film that he had ever done. And uh, I
- 22:25Speaker 3: was the one who called Randy when his dad died.
- 22:27Speaker 3: He didn't know crazy, I'll tell you that. Yeah, we
- 22:31Speaker 3: we I talk about it. And he's a life. He
- 22:34Speaker 3: was on a plane coming back from Florida and my
- 22:38Speaker 3: mother called me and said, I read something that that Aaron.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I remember, these are the days where like technology wasn't his,
- 22:44Speaker 3: you know, fast, And I said, there's no way. And
- 22:47Speaker 3: so I text Randy, are you okay? I don't know
- 22:50Speaker 3: if this is.
- 22:51Speaker 4: True or not. But but and when he landed he
- 22:53Speaker 4: had found out and.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Well he knew he was fast.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but he but I mean yeah, but but
- 22:58Speaker 3: so so that's how I met Randy, initially through mark
- 23:02Speaker 3: et cetera. And then Aaron just became a mentor. And
- 23:05Speaker 3: and when I needed a job and I was broken,
- 23:07Speaker 3: had no money, Aaron said, this is what you need
- 23:09Speaker 3: to do. You need to go to an agency and
- 23:11Speaker 3: start there because that's the center of the universe. Because
- 23:13Speaker 3: he knew I wanted to be in the movie Morris,
- 23:15Speaker 3: I went to I C. M. And he said, go
- 23:18Speaker 3: type up a letter and and.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And have you sign it.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Yes, so so the letters signed.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Funny that both of you guys need to write the letters.
- 23:26Speaker 1: So I say, write whatever you want to sign it, right.
- 23:28Speaker 2: This is so no, you both got the start to
- 23:31Speaker 2: where you ended up with someone telling you just be
- 23:34Speaker 2: an agent. We don't know what that means, but just
- 23:36Speaker 2: agent is still.
- 23:38Speaker 3: And I'll tell you the letter says when because my
- 23:40Speaker 3: mother has a frame that says without Randall's creative support
- 23:44Speaker 3: on nine o two and zero in Railrose Place.
- 23:46Speaker 1: You probably never even saw the book nothing.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I don't know what's going on.
- 23:49Speaker 3: And then and then he signed, he signed it, and
- 23:52Speaker 3: I went to ICM and Torri was represented there at
- 23:54Speaker 3: the time, and Nick time.
- 23:55Speaker 1: She's still she still is. We have the same agent.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Oh, that's so funny. It's a Nick Stegn who's that's
- 24:00Speaker 3: now was there? Nick brought me right in. He's like this, right,
- 24:04Speaker 3: you're hired. He's like, can you type? I knew nothing
- 24:07Speaker 3: like I was like the worst assistant ever at that age.
- 24:10Speaker 3: H But anyway, so all that, so there's this whole
- 24:12Speaker 3: thing and and and uh and and I'm utterly grateful
- 24:15Speaker 3: because if Aaron hadn't writ that letter, who knew if
- 24:18Speaker 3: I would have ever got.
- 24:19Speaker 4: My first assistant job at I seem and went off
- 24:21Speaker 4: to you know, do things like.
- 24:23Speaker 2: That, to do the irishman correct.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Wow, another thing.
- 24:26Speaker 3: So, and Randy's a life coach who I call, yeah, yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 3: who I call many times for advice and support because
- 24:34Speaker 3: he's amazing.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you really know Ranny, I know, I just know.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I just know his mom and I know Tori obviously.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Oh this is the greatest thing ever. So I go
- 24:41Speaker 1: over to the Panose. It's like, we go to dinner,
- 24:43Speaker 1: we go to Craigs, and I'm like, you want to
- 24:45Speaker 1: play some gin? She's like, yeah, she's she's a.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Big card player.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Really, Oh yeah, Andy's a good card player. Well no, no, no,
- 24:51Speaker 1: she hadn't played in thirty years. But this shows you
- 24:53Speaker 1: how good she is because she caught on a one second. No,
- 24:55Speaker 1: she plays poker.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I played poker poker, but like professionally, don't play with her.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I play on TV. I have forty six episodes of
- 25:04Speaker 4: progra After Darkness.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Late to film you and Candy playing poker.
- 25:07Speaker 4: I have better than that.
- 25:08Speaker 3: So I'll be in Vegas for the World Series of Poker,
- 25:11Speaker 3: which is next month, usually in June, but they moved
- 25:12Speaker 3: it because of COVID. How about this, she should come
- 25:15Speaker 3: play on one of the episodes on Pokera after Darkly.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Would she do that?
- 25:17Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 25:18Speaker 4: Would she? Really? They would love, I swear to god,
- 25:22Speaker 4: they would love. They would love to have her, but.
- 25:25Speaker 1: We first have a first game just the two of
- 25:27Speaker 1: you at the penthouse. Will go this week, okay, to dinner.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I don't play poker, but can I come and drink
- 25:32Speaker 2: Perryer at her?
- 25:33Speaker 1: No, we don't drink perio. We drink other things. So
- 25:34Speaker 1: what happens.
- 25:35Speaker 2: You guys can drink whatever you want the greatest, But
- 25:37Speaker 2: if you allow me to drink other things, I'll burn herhouse.
- 25:40Speaker 1: No, you're not drinking. So this is the great thing
- 25:44Speaker 1: because you know she and I but like she knows
- 25:47Speaker 1: how closely am with Tori, and Toy knows that I'm close.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Like we have totally separate relationships, and you know, they
- 25:52Speaker 1: have their issues and whatever, and hopefully that'll get worked out.
- 25:55Speaker 1: But they both and by the way, it's not as
- 25:57Speaker 1: bad as people make it sound, right, It's really not
- 25:59Speaker 1: like that, Like they can call each other and talk
- 26:00Speaker 1: on the phone. But anyway, So we go to craig
- 26:03Speaker 1: As we go upstairs to we go upstairs to the
- 26:08Speaker 1: panels and I go, I really like a glass of wine.
- 26:11Speaker 1: She goes great. So we go to the wine cellar
- 26:14Speaker 1: and I'm immediately thinking I can't pick a fucking bottle
- 26:16Speaker 1: of wine out candy, spellings, wine cellar. It's gonna be
- 26:17Speaker 1: like everything's shot to lafeet, like littory can you can
- 26:22Speaker 1: you pull up the photo?
- 26:23Speaker 4: Are you stop? So when this should be?
- 26:26Speaker 1: So we go over there.
- 26:27Speaker 4: This should be my poker room.
- 26:29Speaker 1: So candy like this wine. But she's not like a drinker,
- 26:31Speaker 1: but you know, and she just you know whatever. So
- 26:34Speaker 1: she goes, she goes, let's go buy something, let's go
- 26:36Speaker 1: find something. I go, okay, So I go in there,
- 26:38Speaker 1: she goes pick something, and I go, I don't know
- 26:40Speaker 1: what the fuck. I can't pick any of this. Everything
- 26:42Speaker 1: is shot to lafeet and shut to livero and petrus.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Well what the do you want to do? Right? And
- 26:45Speaker 1: so she's like, just pick something. I don't even know
- 26:47Speaker 1: what half of the ship is. I bought it for
- 26:49Speaker 1: Aaron in the nineteen eighties. Half of it's probably spoiled.
- 26:51Speaker 1: So I'm like, oh my, okay. So she has little
- 26:54Speaker 1: tags like you know how your little tags on your
- 26:56Speaker 1: on your wine, so you you don't have to pull
- 26:58Speaker 1: each one out of the thing. So it's latour ptrus.
- 27:00Speaker 4: This is what.
- 27:00Speaker 1: So I go for an earlier only because not because
- 27:03Speaker 1: I thought it was going to spoil. So I thought, like,
- 27:05Speaker 1: let's get something earlier that's like almost on the verge
- 27:08Speaker 1: of spoiling. So I don't feel badly, right, So I
- 27:11Speaker 1: picked out a shout so look to her nineteen eighty one.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Okay, right, this is just a.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Casual size, right, This is like special occasion for ninety
- 27:19Speaker 3: nine percent of the world.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Nine percent of the world. This is probably a three
- 27:21Speaker 1: thousand of wine.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Correct.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I literally go, I can't drink. She's like, we're gonna
- 27:25Speaker 1: throw this shit away. It's probably all gone by now,
- 27:27Speaker 1: you know. So there we are. It's just me and
- 27:30Speaker 1: Katie drinking Chattel Latour on a Sunday night, playing Gin Rummy.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I can't you know.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I definitely so badass. I want to die and come
- 27:38Speaker 2: back as you too.
- 27:39Speaker 3: And the old, the old spelling manner when I was
- 27:41Speaker 3: young and then broke, you know, Randy and I, you know,
- 27:44Speaker 3: when after we.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Did the movie, we used to run around that house and.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Shenanigans in the bowling every day and and uh and
- 27:52Speaker 3: and our friend Dave Wintrub.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Was there every day. I mean, it was it was.
- 27:56Speaker 2: It was.
- 27:56Speaker 3: I remember Kevin Sands living toy Kevin Sands with Tory
- 28:00Speaker 3: at the time and get married.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Wait no, no, it was the first note. Wait who
- 28:04Speaker 1: was the was it David Wheer who did that show?
- 28:06Speaker 3: Who was Son of Hollow? Was on the show Sons
- 28:08Speaker 3: of Hollywood? Was it was Sean Stewart Stewart Randy and
- 28:11Speaker 3: Sean Dave? Yeah, yeah, oh yeah it was.
- 28:15Speaker 2: It was.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It was crazy times and Kevin, Sans and Tory lived
- 28:18Speaker 3: together down on Wilshare in the Green Building.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Which they owned. Candy bought that apartment there.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Right and by the way, I was when I was
- 28:25Speaker 3: struggling and broke, and I used to go there and
- 28:27Speaker 3: go out with toy and and Kevin.
- 28:29Speaker 4: I used to dream of like getting a place there.
- 28:31Speaker 3: When I first made money, I made an offer on
- 28:33Speaker 3: a unit there and I was about to close and
- 28:35Speaker 3: then last minute I was like, maybe I'm over paying
- 28:37Speaker 3: a million one.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You're an idiot.
- 28:38Speaker 4: I know.
- 28:39Speaker 1: My mom's mom used to live in that building. I
- 28:41Speaker 1: grew up going that building. Really, it was called the
- 28:43Speaker 1: Wolfshire my dad's mom, the one that was on the
- 28:45Speaker 1: show My mom was mom.
- 28:46Speaker 3: It was the only building on La Sure Babe that
- 28:48Speaker 3: that the elevator opened up in the unit before the
- 28:50Speaker 3: rend of Before but the greatest thing was this, so
- 28:52Speaker 3: for the other one.
- 28:53Speaker 1: So my mom's mom moved in the building in nineteen
- 28:56Speaker 1: ninety six when it was the brand new like it
- 28:58Speaker 1: was the brand spanking new building that was the hottest
- 29:00Speaker 1: thing in town. And then eventually they sold the place
- 29:03Speaker 1: because they went to another building, which is really great,
- 29:05Speaker 1: also on the quarter where a lot of their friends lived.
- 29:08Speaker 1: It's actually a co op, which is the only co
- 29:09Speaker 1: off in La It's really strange. So they went there
- 29:12Speaker 1: was all Hillcrest people, right, so there's all country go
- 29:14Speaker 1: So they moved there. Whatever. So ten years ago, my grandparents'
- 29:17Speaker 1: apartment comes on the market for sale and I go
- 29:20Speaker 1: in there. They'd gutted it and made this contemporary. There's
- 29:23Speaker 1: blow all over the play. Literally there's rails everywhere I saw,
- 29:27Speaker 1: there's like underwear. I was. I was literally thinking to
- 29:30Speaker 1: myself my grandfather wished he was still alive.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Oh my god, that's amazing, amazing. Wow, it was great.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yes, we were interconnected and yeah, so Crafter Dark at
- 29:44Speaker 1: the Penhouse. We're going to do it this week.
- 29:45Speaker 4: We're good at I love it. She knows I play.
- 29:48Speaker 4: I mean, I'm in Vegas almost October. I don't have
- 29:51Speaker 4: to play. I don't even know catch on.
- 29:52Speaker 2: You're a quick You're a quick learner. Anything for candy spelling.
- 29:56Speaker 2: He's going to learn how to play fucking generate.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Really, yeah, she's aker player. I'm the gin player.
- 30:01Speaker 4: She really a poker player. I mean, I'm shocked. I
- 30:03Speaker 4: had no idea.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I literally called me that. I was like, I'm really upset.
- 30:06Speaker 1: My partner fucking canceled tonight in the game. Do you
- 30:08Speaker 1: know anybody wants to play with Oh my god, this is.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Like I fly to I mean sell him. I mean,
- 30:14Speaker 4: I'm fly to Florida for tournaments, Vegas for time. I
- 30:17Speaker 4: mean I'm obsessed, Yeah, yeah, obsessed.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Poker and pickleball. Randall is obsessed.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I mean, we start the World Series, allow Randall.
- 30:25Speaker 2: To go play poker because I take ten percent of
- 30:27Speaker 2: his winning.
- 30:27Speaker 1: That is true right the way, Baby, You know this
- 30:30Speaker 1: is what I've assumed. She does not said I play big,
- 30:32Speaker 1: but I listened to the way she talks about about.
- 30:35Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 30:36Speaker 3: I'm a purist about so I'll play any stakes. But
- 30:38Speaker 3: what I love is somebody that loves poker.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Will be right back. We're back with Randall. What's up, dude?
- 30:49Speaker 2: And Josh Flag and we are going to pivot to
- 30:52Speaker 2: things that I understand, which are all things Bravo.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Everything that's not the last twenty nine minutes.
- 30:58Speaker 2: No, I actually learned a lot. I actually learned a
- 31:01Speaker 2: lot in the first segment.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Take home from Today that I need to get out.
- 31:06Speaker 2: And meet more people because I don't know one of
- 31:08Speaker 2: the people that you're talking about. Okay, but I do
- 31:10Speaker 2: know all the spellings.
- 31:12Speaker 4: So she's you don't want you to end. By the way,
- 31:14Speaker 4: we just went to miametrou Story and Lala.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Usually when we go out of town, we'll kind of
- 31:18Speaker 3: hunker down and chill, and this trip she went out
- 31:21Speaker 3: three nights in a row, which is so not like her.
- 31:23Speaker 3: And she said, I had such a fun time. I
- 31:25Speaker 3: want to get out more in La. Yes, so this
- 31:27Speaker 3: could be really.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Good socialize, meet people, mingle a bit.
- 31:32Speaker 4: With that being said, pivot for us, pivot.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Oh, we've already done the pivot. We've done a pivot
- 31:38Speaker 2: to Okay, I'm coming to one of your dinner parties.
- 31:42Speaker 2: All that I care is that Sonia Morgan is there.
- 31:45Speaker 2: So I just told your assistant, who's one of my
- 31:47Speaker 2: good friends, or to have.
- 31:49Speaker 1: There anymore she destroyed everything in our house. Last time
- 31:52Speaker 1: she came, it was thirty six thousand dollars to fix it.
- 31:54Speaker 4: What, oh, this is for real.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Literally she comes to the weekend, it's thirty six thousands.
- 32:00Speaker 4: Break it down for us, No, pun intended to break
- 32:02Speaker 4: it down for us.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Oh, I leave the bathtub on, you know, the bathtubs on,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I mean all night long.
- 32:08Speaker 2: You know, she work up, she forgets to turn it
- 32:10Speaker 2: off twice. Come on, she what did your house because
- 32:13Speaker 2: of she left the bathtub on?
- 32:15Speaker 4: Yes, because she was sleeping.
- 32:17Speaker 1: That was That was thirty thousand. I mean the insurance
- 32:19Speaker 1: claim was like three hundred thousand. That was thirty thousand
- 32:21Speaker 1: off pocket. Then there was what was the thing she did?
- 32:25Speaker 4: Oh the car?
- 32:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well what one of my nineteen sixty vintage
- 32:29Speaker 1: Rolls Royce convertibles. It was like thirty grand. I mean
- 32:32Speaker 1: she left the motor running all night long. So then
- 32:35Speaker 1: the thing like busted. It was horrible.
- 32:37Speaker 4: That was a bad one.
- 32:38Speaker 1: That was a three day period. What oh yeah, so
- 32:41Speaker 1: Sonya even she was nothing was like three hundred bucks.
- 32:44Speaker 4: It's Sonya not invited.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Oh no, she's invited back, just under supervision. But see,
- 32:53Speaker 1: the thing was Sonya's I've been best friend for like
- 32:55Speaker 1: fifteen years, you know, just like Sonia's like I'm gonna
- 32:58Speaker 1: come for the weekend, right, okay, Well and turns into
- 33:00Speaker 1: two and a half weeks. You know, it's all or
- 33:03Speaker 1: nothing with Sonya.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Yeah, all in white?
- 33:06Speaker 4: Really?
- 33:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm not obsessed with very many people.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Yes, oh my god. Beyond Sonya and Liza and Li
- 33:14Speaker 1: are like my two.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Like watching for me, that's a that's a whole other level.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, so we is Million Dollar is Million
- 33:24Speaker 2: Dollar Listing airing right now?
- 33:25Speaker 1: Million Dollar Listing is on right now? Episode three I
- 33:30Speaker 1: believe coming this week.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Okay, then I can start watching out because yes, yes,
- 33:34Speaker 2: I can't do the whole thing where you got to
- 33:36Speaker 2: wait the whole week to wait for the next episode.
- 33:38Speaker 2: So I wait for a few to come out. What
- 33:40Speaker 2: is it like having that Frederick Man on? He's pretty fabulous? Right? No, really,
- 33:46Speaker 2: no he is not.
- 33:47Speaker 1: He's absolutely not. Okay, So he made you think that.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Because I him. I just I watched Million Dollars Listing
- 33:55Speaker 2: La or I mean New York. Yeah, and there was
- 33:58Speaker 2: just like the accent and just like the he looks
- 34:00Speaker 2: and walks and the way he puckers his lips and
- 34:02Speaker 2: I'm like, oh.
- 34:03Speaker 3: God, Okay, so Frederick is a nice person now not
- 34:06Speaker 3: nice now very successful.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Now now yeah? Yeah, very successful?
- 34:10Speaker 4: Yeah, because he has all the the developers, right. Is
- 34:13Speaker 4: that his thing? Yes?
- 34:14Speaker 3: So he gets the building before it it goes to anybody.
- 34:16Speaker 3: He takes over the whole building sells like he gets
- 34:18Speaker 3: it early.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Is that the deal? I'm just trying to know.
- 34:20Speaker 1: There's other people who do. He's just a good publicist.
- 34:23Speaker 1: He gets his name out there because there's a lot
- 34:26Speaker 1: of very successful people that do this.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Okay, he's new to LA. Yes, why did he come here?
- 34:31Speaker 4: He lives here?
- 34:32Speaker 3: Now?
- 34:33Speaker 1: He lives here.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Now he's on the LA show.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Yes, it's his first season.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Unfortunately that's what people were like, Holy shit, I mean.
- 34:41Speaker 1: All of us are extremely upset with them on the
- 34:43Speaker 1: show this season. I mean, it's just what I.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Don't understand why why yes exploded?
- 34:48Speaker 2: Without giving away storylines, obviously the drill baby?
- 34:52Speaker 4: Can I some one thing? When I watch Billion Dollars
- 34:54Speaker 4: in New York?
- 34:54Speaker 1: He's a terrible person.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Oh okay, do we get to see it on the show.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It's coming soon.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Okay, So Frederick not your favorite we're going to see
- 35:02Speaker 3: on the on the new season this season.
- 35:05Speaker 1: That's out right now, See all four of us, not
- 35:07Speaker 1: one person on the show is happy with him this season.
- 35:10Speaker 4: Is he successfully selling here?
- 35:12Speaker 1: It was a big no, absolutely not. And I'm believe
- 35:15Speaker 1: this is not like a pity there, what like a
- 35:17Speaker 1: jealousy thing like he's extremely.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Successful in New York.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Yes, right, I don't want to regurgitate my lunch. Let's
- 35:23Speaker 1: talk about something else.
- 35:25Speaker 2: All right, we're making another quickvot pivot. Yes, you have
- 35:30Speaker 2: a YouTube channel.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Yes, I do have a YouTube channel.
- 35:34Speaker 3: But I mean I should make the greatest late night
- 35:36Speaker 3: guess like if Letterman was still on the air, you
- 35:39Speaker 3: and Letterman would have just been.
- 35:40Speaker 2: But I want to know what you're doing. This is
- 35:42Speaker 2: a podcast about our guest. So you have a YouTube
- 35:44Speaker 2: channel that you didn't know you had, which I'm letting
- 35:47Speaker 2: you know that you do, Yes, you do interviews?
- 35:49Speaker 1: Yes, And like what is the vibe of it? The
- 35:51Speaker 1: vibe of it is I just anything I can't do
- 35:53Speaker 1: on TV that I that I would like to do
- 35:56Speaker 1: that you know would make me cancelable. I try and
- 36:00Speaker 1: do a little bit of it on YouTube.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Okay, it's like a podcast I mean, so we know.
- 36:04Speaker 1: So I do celebrity interviews, I don't do it. I
- 36:06Speaker 1: don't do a podcast like for se what we're doing here.
- 36:09Speaker 1: What I generally do is I interview celebrity friends of
- 36:13Speaker 1: mine and I put it on my Instagram, on YouTube
- 36:14Speaker 1: and whatnot. But it's a lot more casual and it's
- 36:17Speaker 1: it's not just audio obviously, it's visual. So right, I'll
- 36:20Speaker 1: have you know, whatever, like I'll have for people anyone
- 36:22Speaker 1: from like Paula Abdul to Charro to Recur. But my
- 36:28Speaker 1: friend spectrum is like over all over the place, you know,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I like that candy spell whatever like people like that.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And then I just, you know, I just shoot the
- 36:37Speaker 1: ship with my friends in my living room and I
- 36:38Speaker 1: film it and that's it.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Okay, that's it.
- 36:41Speaker 1: It's very casual. It's not like I don't even have
- 36:43Speaker 1: a set of questions on it.
- 36:45Speaker 2: You just wing it.
- 36:46Speaker 1: We just wing it.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:47Speaker 4: I love that.
- 36:48Speaker 2: It's kind of like what we do on the podcast. Yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 2: it's not really a format. You just kind of say, like,
- 36:52Speaker 2: I just want to talk to my friend.
- 36:54Speaker 1: That's all it is. It's just me just wanting to
- 36:56Speaker 1: talk talk to my friends. And I have a guy
- 36:58Speaker 1: filming it.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Okay, do you ever get nervous when you're on your
- 37:02Speaker 2: show that behavior that you display is going to risk
- 37:07Speaker 2: clients coming to you and being like I want you
- 37:09Speaker 2: to sell my house or I'm trying to buy a house,
- 37:12Speaker 2: or do you just say fuck it?
- 37:14Speaker 1: No, I'm pretty good at censoring myself.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Really No.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Okay, right, no, I'm pretty good. I's censoring myself on TV, right,
- 37:24Speaker 1: I mean being No, I've never really had a problem
- 37:26Speaker 1: where I've like, you know, had a client on the
- 37:28Speaker 1: show or a house or whatever and people got really upset.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I have a question.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Have you ever been in a moment where okay, the
- 37:35Speaker 3: process of like bringing a client onto the show, you
- 37:37Speaker 3: go to the client, you say, hey, look I'm going
- 37:39Speaker 3: to be selling your house. It's going to help, it's
- 37:41Speaker 3: going to be a good look for you. We appear
- 37:42Speaker 3: on the show. And I'm sure a lot of people want.
- 37:44Speaker 4: To be on the show.
- 37:44Speaker 3: They want to be able to realistic. Has there been
- 37:47Speaker 3: a moment where that client became a real nightmare? And yeah,
- 37:50Speaker 3: I don't need to know the exact client, but did
- 37:52Speaker 3: it ever goes so bad? Was there ever something so bad? Gnarly?
- 37:57Speaker 4: Why the cameras are there and there's nothing you can
- 37:59Speaker 4: do about it.
- 38:00Speaker 1: It's one of those I mean, we have some crazy
- 38:02Speaker 1: fox on our you know, I mean we have some Generally,
- 38:05Speaker 1: the ones that you know are on the show are
- 38:07Speaker 1: actually more normal than the ones that are not on
- 38:10Speaker 1: the show, mostly because those people that we do not
- 38:15Speaker 1: have on the show know that they're insane and would
- 38:18Speaker 1: not want to put themselves.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Right, that's a yes.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So the ones that are on the show are a
- 38:24Speaker 1: little bit more aware that you know they are being
- 38:28Speaker 1: filmed and yeah, and are a little bit more on
- 38:31Speaker 1: their best behavior. Most of my clients are insane.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Right, and they know they're insane. They don't want to
- 38:37Speaker 2: be filmed. They don't want I always wonder that because
- 38:39Speaker 2: it's almost like below Deck. I don't know if you
- 38:42Speaker 2: watch it, but I'm like, the second these people, these
- 38:45Speaker 2: like normal people sign on to go on this boat,
- 38:49Speaker 2: like the people are part of the show, can just
- 38:51Speaker 2: talk mad shit on them and like really embarrass them.
- 38:54Speaker 2: So I wonder if someone comes to you and says,
- 38:58Speaker 2: help me sell my house or whatever, if they're like
- 39:01Speaker 2: I could be spoken about in a very ill way
- 39:06Speaker 2: when I'm.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Not amer you have to be aware of yourself and
- 39:09Speaker 1: be aware of this around. Is you alad to know
- 39:11Speaker 1: that shit could go either way?
- 39:13Speaker 2: Well you are, but some norm who's like, sure, I
- 39:15Speaker 2: guess I'll be on the show.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Because you're probably not going to be on the show
- 39:19Speaker 1: because you're not insane. You're just not going to be
- 39:23Speaker 1: interesting in television. Like we only choose our best. It's
- 39:26Speaker 1: not like you know when we feel like, look if
- 39:28Speaker 1: I have one hundred deals and I can only cover ten,
- 39:30Speaker 1: I'm only I'm going to cover the ten most interesting
- 39:33Speaker 1: people right right right, So you know, those people have
- 39:37Speaker 1: to be aware ahead of time.
- 39:38Speaker 3: That you know, babe, you're saying, like on blow Deck,
- 39:41Speaker 3: these people come on and they think they're gonna be
- 39:42Speaker 3: on a show and it's fun.
- 39:43Speaker 4: They don't realize that, realize the.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Whole staff is talking on that the entire time. Like
- 39:48Speaker 2: you could be like this client of mine is such
- 39:49Speaker 2: a fucking asshole and he's being stingy.
- 39:52Speaker 3: But the different but the only I agree with you,
- 39:55Speaker 3: The only difference in Below Deck versus this show is
- 39:57Speaker 3: below Deck.
- 39:58Speaker 4: They're on a vacation, his show trying to make money
- 40:01Speaker 4: and they need.
- 40:01Speaker 2: His mistakes are way higher.
- 40:03Speaker 3: He's selling a ten million dollar, it's a little different. Yeah,
- 40:07Speaker 3: on Below Deck, I agree. When they come on that show,
- 40:09Speaker 3: they really are setting themselves up to just be you know,
- 40:12Speaker 3: taken out because there's ten crew who are being like
- 40:15Speaker 3: that they want some dirty martini at you know, six
- 40:18Speaker 3: in the morning, setting.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Your super I know, if people have been on that show,
- 40:21Speaker 1: you're sitting.
- 40:21Speaker 2: There it's like mortifying.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I don't know if it's mortive. I mean
- 40:28Speaker 1: it's good TV's good TV.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Well unless you're the one that's now watching the episode
- 40:32Speaker 2: so excited to see yourself, you know, vacation on below
- 40:35Speaker 2: deck dragging.
- 40:38Speaker 4: But but my thing is that you have to be
- 40:40Speaker 4: somewhat self aware.
- 40:40Speaker 3: If you sign up for a below deck and you
- 40:42Speaker 3: go on the on the vacation on the boat with
- 40:45Speaker 3: ten cameras, you got to know that they're looking to
- 40:47Speaker 3: find whatever your thing is to exploit.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Like the entertainment value.
- 40:52Speaker 3: They can't go on a vacation on the yacht with
- 40:54Speaker 3: ten with ten cameras or eight cameras and think that
- 40:57Speaker 3: you're just going to be smooth hailing.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I by the way, I get see six, So I
- 41:00Speaker 1: couldn't go on the vacation period like really it's not
- 41:05Speaker 1: even the seat like after like I've been on boats
- 41:07Speaker 1: and I'm just like if it's like day two day,
- 41:10Speaker 1: or to give me.
- 41:12Speaker 4: I like to be important.
- 41:13Speaker 3: I like to be importal, like go out for the
- 41:15Speaker 3: day and come back and like like we did a
- 41:17Speaker 3: boat trip and the Bahamas and we park in Atlantis
- 41:20Speaker 3: every night so we can go.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Because Randall doesn't like being stuck in one place. He's
- 41:24Speaker 2: he's like a chaotic being. I gotta move like you guys,
