- October 14 Search the Hidden Corners Topic: Self-Examination. Scripture: Psalm 19:12–14 12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors. 13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright. I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer. Context Psalm 19 moves from creation’s witness to God’s instruction and then inward. David recognizes both hidden failures and deliberate sin, asking God to shape not only actions but words and inner meditation. Let It Shape Your Life Self-examination is difficult because the person doing the examining is also the person capable of missing the problem. David knows that. “Who can discern his errors?” is not an excuse; it is a prayer for deeper honesty. Some patterns are obvious. Others hide behind explanations we have repeated so often they feel like facts. Healthy examination may involve Scripture, prayer, trusted friends, counseling, or feedback from people affected by our choices. The goal is not obsessive guilt. David calls God his rock and redeemer. Grace makes honesty safer because failure does not have to be hidden to preserve your worth. Ask God to expose what needs attention, then be willing to listen when the answer arrives through an uncomfortable conversation or repeated pattern. A clean conscience is not built by avoiding inspection. It grows through truth, repentance, and grace. Think About It What recurring feedback, consequence, or inner discomfort might be pointing toward something in you that deserves more honest examination?
