- 0:00Speaker 1: Story this morning in the news about bed bugs on
- 0:03Speaker 1: a flight from Rome.
- 0:05Speaker 2: To Perth or Perth to Rome.
- 0:06Speaker 3: I think they originated here. Absolutely horrendous.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It affected QF5 and QF6.
- 0:11Speaker 3: How awful to deal with that.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And now we've got a guy in Bali burnt down
- 0:15Speaker 1: his villa while trying to get rid of a spider.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Incy Wincy spider climbed up the water spout.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I wonder what kind of spider it was. Obviously a
- 0:24Speaker 1: big one. He was trying to oust the spider. He
- 0:29Speaker 1: spotted it.
- 0:30Speaker 3: And its web in the corner of his villa bathroom
- 0:33Speaker 3: in Kuta.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And he burnt the joint down.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, what he did was he tried to scare it
- 0:37Speaker 3: away with flame. He's from Nepal.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Like a flamethrower? Not quite. Oh, okay.
- 0:43Speaker 1: He set some paper on fire and tried to scare
- 0:47Speaker 1: it away. I don't think, I think the spider looked
- 0:49Speaker 1: at it and said, very sure. You're going to have
- 0:53Speaker 1: to do better than that. So he sort of put
- 0:56Speaker 1: it down.
- 0:57Speaker 3: And then he left. He left the villa and was
- 1:01Speaker 3: going somewhere.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Unattended fire?
- 1:02Speaker 3: Unattended.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And within minutes, the entire villa caught fire and within minutes,
- 1:09Speaker 1: it burned to the ground. I mean, we all saw
- 1:10Speaker 1: the footage recently of the restaurant burning where the balloons
- 1:13Speaker 1: went up, how quickly that burnt down.
- 1:15Speaker 3: That's what these places are made from.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Made from wood.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Up there. And grass and stuff. Yeah. Combustibles. He burnt
- 1:23Speaker 3: the place to the ground.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I wonder if the spider got out or if the
- 1:26Speaker 1: spider was a, you know, victim of the fire.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Well, it's getting a little hot in here for me.
- 1:35Speaker 1: They're saying $ 160, 000 damage because the roof. Which is made
- 1:40Speaker 1: from Alangalang, also known as Kogan grass.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Blady grass. Well, all grass is blady. Or Kunai grass,
- 1:48Speaker 1: quickly caught fire and spread. I remember way back in
- 1:52Speaker 1: the day, in the 80s, it might have been the
- 1:55Speaker 1: first time I went to Bali with my parents.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And we're talking the mid-80s.
- 1:59Speaker 1: So it was not quite the level of development it
- 2:03Speaker 1: is now. But we were staying, we would have been
- 2:06Speaker 1: in Sonora and we were staying in a place and
- 2:08Speaker 1: we went into the bungalow and there was a rat.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So dad went to the front desk to say, look,
- 2:18Speaker 1: there's a rat in the room. Can we maybe have some,
- 2:21Speaker 1: can we either move or can we have some way
- 2:23Speaker 1: of dealing with it? And there was not great language,
- 2:28Speaker 1: you know, understanding between us.
- 2:30Speaker 3: In those days back in the mid-80s. They were still,
- 2:32Speaker 3: you know, a little bit lost in translation.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I think Dad might have been suggesting some kind of trap, rat,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you know, like a giant mousetrap thing or something. Anyway,
- 2:40Speaker 1: the guy comes to our room. Dad comes back and
- 2:42Speaker 1: he says, oh, he's bringing something. And the guy shows
- 2:45Speaker 1: up on the door and he's got a hatchet.
- 2:48Speaker 2: That'll do the job. If you can catch it, the hatchet.
- 2:51Speaker 2: For the rat.
- 2:52Speaker 3: For the rat. For the rat boss. But, you know.
- 2:57Speaker 1: No.
- 2:58Speaker 2: For the rat to have or for the rat to.
- 2:59Speaker 3: No, for us to tackle the rat with. Here is
- 3:02Speaker 3: a hatchet. Go the rat yourself. I think we've got
- 3:06Speaker 3: another room.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Well, you know, things have expanded since then. It has.
- 3:11Speaker 2: The tourist industry has grown up.
- 3:13Speaker 1: First of all, we have a better understanding of each
- 3:14Speaker 1: other language-wise. And secondly, there's no rafts.
- 3:18Speaker 2: No.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Not in Senua anyway.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Oh, our producer has just dropped in a song that's,
- 3:24Speaker 2: I think, quite appropriate for said story just done. A
- 3:28Speaker 2: little bit of Talking Heads. Yeah. Burning down the villa.
- 3:31Speaker 1: The villa.
