Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay and with me as
- 0:28Speaker 2: she attempts not to die live on stream is Katie.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Y'all. I'm so sorry that I just every time we
- 0:41Speaker 3: have a show, I'm just dying of the colder cof
- 0:44Speaker 3: or something. I don't know. So there's awkward pauses and
- 0:49Speaker 3: Clay has to edit them out or they he just
- 0:52Speaker 3: leaves them in whatever, Like, just excuse him, because it's
- 0:55Speaker 3: all me.
- 0:56Speaker 2: My thing is like it's the worst when like winter
- 1:02Speaker 2: is fading out and then you just have like the
- 1:05Speaker 2: spring flu. That is the worst. I absolutely hate it.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Now I don't have I don't have any sort of sickness,
- 1:16Speaker 2: but allergies are kicking in and my eyes have been
- 1:20Speaker 2: so irritated and I've been itching and wiping my eyes
- 1:25Speaker 2: constantly all day and I hate it.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah, allergies don't make it any better.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, But I think today's gonna be a little bit
- 1:36Speaker 2: of a short episode. There's not a whole lot to
- 1:38Speaker 2: talk about.
- 1:40Speaker 3: We said that last week.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah we did, and then ended up being an hour episode.
- 1:46Speaker 2: But our main points of Conversation this week, of course,
- 1:50Speaker 2: are Resistance Season one, as well as our mini review
- 1:56Speaker 2: of Star Wars Throng Alliances. As far as other news goes,
- 2:05Speaker 2: there's not really a whole lot there. We will share
- 2:10Speaker 2: one or two things, but that is basically it for
- 2:15Speaker 2: this week. So Katie, where do you want to start off?
- 2:21Speaker 3: So? First things first, based on the it's basically a
- 2:27Speaker 3: lot of comic news, I feel like yeah. So, based
- 2:33Speaker 3: on the success of the bat Batch comic, it looks
- 2:37Speaker 3: like dark Horse has decided to green light another comic,
- 2:43Speaker 3: Hyperspace Stories, Tides of Terror, which will be written by
- 2:48Speaker 3: George Man We love him, We love you, George, and
- 2:52Speaker 3: it will start Kit Fisto and feature Mace, Windu and
- 2:56Speaker 3: Shakti investigating an underwater research facility on the ocean planet
- 3:01Speaker 3: toward Us. The first issue releases July sixteenth.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say this, I need more hit Fisto content. Yep.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I that's like you had me at kit Fisto. That's
- 3:19Speaker 2: that's like.
- 3:21Speaker 3: My sister loves loved kit Fisto. Like when we would
- 3:24Speaker 3: always like play Jedi growing up. I was always Mace
- 3:27Speaker 3: Windu or Anakin, and she was always Kit fisto. Uh,
- 3:32Speaker 3: so she was very excited for this. We love prequel content,
- 3:37Speaker 3: and we love that dark Horse is attempting to get
- 3:40Speaker 3: its comic stuff together, like potentially maybe question Mark other
- 3:50Speaker 3: bits of comic news. Doctor Afra Chaos Agent. Uh, that's right,
- 3:57Speaker 3: Doctor Afra is returning to the comic realm, and this
- 4:05Speaker 3: ongoing series is going to be written by Cherish Cherish Chin.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I looked at this article announcement from Collider. I don't
- 4:15Speaker 3: know who cherishes? Do you know who cherishes?
- 4:18Speaker 2: So Cherish Chin, and I do want to double check this, uh,
- 4:27Speaker 2: make sure that I'm spelling it correctly.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Actually, well, Clay is looking that up. This series will
- 4:35Speaker 3: see her team up again with Luke, but this time
- 4:39Speaker 3: her signature tattoos don't work. If you don't know anything
- 4:44Speaker 3: about Doctor Afra. She has basically what I would call
- 4:48Speaker 3: it electronic tattoos that kind of make slicing into things
- 4:54Speaker 3: a little bit easier. Slicing in the Star Wars realm
- 4:58Speaker 3: is basically like opening up doors, getting into computers, that
- 5:04Speaker 3: kind of thing. There is no tell, there's no there
- 5:11Speaker 3: was no like reference to where in the timeline this
- 5:15Speaker 3: is happening. The assumption is it's gonna go hand in
- 5:19Speaker 3: hand with Alex Sigoura's Star Wars run that is taking
- 5:25Speaker 3: off in May, so this will be after Return of
- 5:28Speaker 3: the Jedi, but again unknown.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yes, so Cherish is actually the author of Radiant Red.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It's part of the Massive Verse. She has had some
- 5:42Speaker 2: other projects, but most recently, this is what I know
- 5:44Speaker 2: her from. I'm an ambassador of the Massive Verse comics
- 5:50Speaker 2: over at Image. So yeah, she did a wonderful job
- 5:56Speaker 2: in Radiant Red. I think she's gonna do a magnificent
- 6:00Speaker 2: job with this as well. And I just want to say,
- 6:04Speaker 2: I want to see if I can actually bring up
- 6:06Speaker 2: the uh the covers here. I love this second cover,
- 6:13Speaker 2: this be cover. I don't know what it is, but like,
- 6:19Speaker 2: Luke looks good, Afra looks good. I love the colors here.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I love the way the green kind of just like yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 2: really stands out compared to everything else. Like, I love
- 6:31Speaker 2: this book as far as the way it looks.
- 6:34Speaker 3: The artwork on these covers, I love like it's it's
- 6:40Speaker 3: some of the most original looking comic art I think
- 6:44Speaker 3: that I've seen. So I'm really excited to see who
- 6:47Speaker 3: this artist is and looking forward to reading this one.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Of course I need to get in and really finish
- 6:57Speaker 3: the Doctor Afra run by Kieran Gillan, and then the
- 7:01Speaker 3: run Oh my gosh, what's her name? What's their name?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I can't remember a lista long. Yes,
- 7:15Speaker 3: I really need to do those before I get into this,
- 7:18Speaker 3: so I will be attempting to make that a priority
- 7:22Speaker 3: before this new series comes out.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Now again, this debut's June eighteenth, so that means for
- 7:31Speaker 2: anyone who wants to read it on Marvel Unlimited, that
- 7:37Speaker 2: means that it won't be available until mid September. Yep,
- 7:43Speaker 2: right July August. September is the third month, so either
- 7:48Speaker 2: late September early October is probably a better bet on
- 7:52Speaker 2: when this will be available, so but if not, you
- 7:57Speaker 2: can always pick it up June eighteenth.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yep. I will be keeping up with it on Marvel
- 8:03Speaker 3: Unlimited because I'm cheap and buying. As I always say,
- 8:11Speaker 3: it's just a fact of life.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah, well for the longest time.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Go ahead, especially now with a toddler. Buying very thin
- 8:20Speaker 3: paper books does not make a whole lot of sense.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah. No, any and all single issues that I am buying,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I'm actually keeping at my job they are not making
- 8:34Speaker 2: their way to my house. But also, uh, and again
- 8:39Speaker 2: I've told this story before. It wasn't until Katie reminded
- 8:44Speaker 2: me like two months ago that I have been paying
- 8:48Speaker 2: for Marvel Unlimited for like almost a whole year and
- 8:51Speaker 2: a half now, so I have been trying to uh
- 8:57Speaker 2: use that more. We are going to be using it
- 9:01Speaker 2: for the Battle of Jaku that we do have planned
- 9:07Speaker 2: sometime soon. We do have to talk about that and
- 9:11Speaker 2: plan that out. And I just love it. Again, Guys,
- 9:16Speaker 2: if you do not have a book friend, Katie is
- 9:21Speaker 2: my book friend. She like, I see all these people
- 9:26Speaker 2: online on book talk and in books to Graham and
- 9:29Speaker 2: all this other stuff. They're like, here's my forty seven
- 9:32Speaker 2: books I read this month, let me walk through it
- 9:34Speaker 2: with you, And I'm just like, god, damn how I Like,
- 9:37Speaker 2: I even tried to map out because again I'm on
- 9:40Speaker 2: this whole book spree thing mapping out Hey, how many
- 9:44Speaker 2: books can I attempt to read at the same time
- 9:48Speaker 2: in one whole month? And like, currently I finished throng,
- 9:55Speaker 2: so technically I'm down to two so I can add
- 9:59Speaker 2: another one. But I do know that throw on Treason
- 10:03Speaker 2: is just right there, and we're gonna have to talk
- 10:04Speaker 2: about it soon, so I know I have to jump
- 10:07Speaker 2: into it, and I'm just like, I don't think I
- 10:11Speaker 2: could be comfortable enough to go past three. You have to.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It's it's reading different genres. So like, so typically I
- 10:22Speaker 3: have at least three going at once, an audiobook, at
- 10:27Speaker 3: eat book, and then a physical book.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Okay, okay, so that's.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And then like typically I have a romance, a fantasy,
- 10:38Speaker 3: a star wars, a comic, and then maybe like a
- 10:42Speaker 3: mystery because my family book club they like to read
- 10:45Speaker 3: a lot of mysteries and I'm not allowed to suggest
- 10:47Speaker 3: fantasy because that's just unrealistic. I don't know. Oh, I'm
- 10:53Speaker 3: just kidding.
- 10:54Speaker 2: See, I have the next two books that are on
- 10:58Speaker 2: my list is All Systems Read aka The Murder Bought Diaries,
- 11:07Speaker 2: which is going to be turning into an Apple TV
- 11:09Speaker 2: Plus show.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 2: But then I wanted to get another novella, another short book,
- 11:15Speaker 2: and I picked up yesterday this is How to Lose
- 11:20Speaker 2: a Time War. I can't remember who wrote that one.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I'll have to double check. But I'm like, Okay, if
- 11:29Speaker 2: I keep picking up small books, I think I can
- 11:34Speaker 2: get this down. But all the books that I want
- 11:37Speaker 2: all the books that like catch my eye at the store.
- 11:39Speaker 2: They're like freaking this thick, Like, like why people it's
- 11:44Speaker 2: okay to write a book that's less than five hundred pages.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I think that's a that's ultimately a failing in consumerism
- 11:53Speaker 3: at the moment because publishers are like, oh, we just
- 11:57Speaker 3: need the next big thing. We need the next big
- 11:59Speaker 3: thing that goral. So people are like, oh, okay, we
- 12:02Speaker 3: have to publish things as soon as possible, so they're
- 12:07Speaker 3: cutting out edits Like a lot of times, like those
- 12:11Speaker 3: lengthy dialogues descriptions, they would be cut out in the
- 12:15Speaker 3: editing process for a cleaner book. But like Iron Flame
- 12:24Speaker 3: with Fourth Wing, Iron Flame is the second book in
- 12:28Speaker 3: the series. Fourth Wing went viral, Yeah, and it caught
- 12:33Speaker 3: way more attention, so Rebecca Yarras had to do a
- 12:36Speaker 3: lot more publicity and like she didn't get a chance
- 12:40Speaker 3: to like take a break, and so they wanted Iron
- 12:43Speaker 3: Flame out asap. Iron Flame is not as cleanly ending
- 12:49Speaker 3: as Fourth Wing, Like it doesn't like it's not even
- 12:52Speaker 3: like clean innocence, Like yeah, that's what like we're talking
- 12:55Speaker 3: about in this instance. But there's like things where you're
- 12:58Speaker 3: like hmmm, like that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And there's plot holes that came up in Iron Flame
- 13:06Speaker 3: that people are so insistent that they're plot holes, and
- 13:09Speaker 3: I say they're plot holes, but you could like also
- 13:11Speaker 3: explain them as like she's future planning like an easter
- 13:14Speaker 3: egg here. Yeah, but a lot of people are like, oh,
- 13:16Speaker 3: that was a plot hole that got missed in editing,
- 13:20Speaker 3: and so now she's just kind of pigging it up
- 13:22Speaker 3: and running with it.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Guys, you see this, I'm picking up thrown alliances right now.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Paperback that that is a nice sized book is now
- 13:37Speaker 2: I don't know what this was like in hardcover. Of course,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I let me show you. I was gonna say, of
- 13:45Speaker 2: course Katie's gonna show off here real quick. She's just
- 13:48Speaker 2: gonna be like, hey.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It's not showing off. It's a collection. I spent months
- 13:56Speaker 3: digging these guys down.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Oh wait, what is the It's just a white book, nothing,
- 14:06Speaker 2: nothing on the well you take the dust jackets off,
- 14:09Speaker 2: that's right, that's right. Was it the same cover? I'm curious.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I've seen people do like fan edit of Anakin being
- 14:23Speaker 2: in the place of Darth Vader. I don't like it.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Not that was not a fan that was actually I
- 14:32Speaker 3: think a celebration cover. What, Yeah, do you want to
- 14:39Speaker 3: see the book three of the Throng prequel trilogy.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Sure, let mean let me see while I look. While
- 14:48Speaker 2: I'm looking this up, Wait, is this This isn't ascendancies,
- 14:54Speaker 2: is it?
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yes? This is book three of the that's.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Right, yeah, I have that book.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I sent it to you.
- 15:01Speaker 2: You gave it to me because because it was damaged.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it was damaged. So yeah, that's so. Yes, like
- 15:12Speaker 3: Alliances and Book three side by side.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I mean, so, yeah, it's a little bit thicker, but like.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Oh no, it is thicker.
- 15:21Speaker 2: My my thing is. And I guess this can kind
- 15:24Speaker 2: of take us into well, actually I think we have
- 15:26Speaker 2: a little bit more.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we have more news.
- 15:29Speaker 4: News all right, y'all, we are going to hit our
- 15:32Speaker 4: first ad break and we will be right back in
- 15:35Speaker 4: three two one.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I want to share this small piece of news because
- 15:41Speaker 2: it's I don't think it's much of anything, uh, because
- 15:45Speaker 2: I don't know when we will ever get to it
- 15:48Speaker 2: due to our weird legends scheduling as far as reviews.
- 15:57Speaker 2: But I will say that this is a gorgeous cover.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I don't care what anybody says about it. I am
- 16:08Speaker 2: showing currently on our live stream Star Wars Shadows of
- 16:12Speaker 2: the Empire by Steve Perry, the Essential Legend.
- 16:16Speaker 3: A good book, by the way.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Why I never knew this as a book? Do you
- 16:22Speaker 2: know how I knew this of they made a video
- 16:25Speaker 2: game of Shadows of the Empire. I don't know what
- 16:29Speaker 2: his name is, but the dude that has like this
- 16:32Speaker 2: brown like shoulder vest thing, he's the main character of
- 16:36Speaker 2: that game. And that's all it. Like, whenever I hear
- 16:42Speaker 2: Shadows of the Empire, I immediately think of Nintendo sixty four. Like,
- 16:47Speaker 2: so when I saw this, I like immediately gravitated towards
- 16:51Speaker 2: it because like, oh, I didn't know it was a book.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Seeing this now, this is a gorgeous cover.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yeah, And somebody had asked if it was a I
- 17:03Speaker 3: I believe Randon House World said it's not AI, but
- 17:07Speaker 3: I haven't seen the artist listed for it. But it's
- 17:12Speaker 3: really beautiful and it has been a while since I've
- 17:15Speaker 3: read this book. But it really is a killer book, y'all.
- 17:20Speaker 3: It's got Boba fett uh, It's got like, oh gosh,
- 17:26Speaker 3: I can't remember his name. I know he's a prince,
- 17:29Speaker 3: but like Xander or something, the green skinned guy in
- 17:34Speaker 3: the background. I love him as a villain. I know
- 17:38Speaker 3: that might be like cliche, but he's a really good
- 17:41Speaker 3: villain in my opinion. So if you're interested in this book,
- 17:48Speaker 3: this is definitely the time to pick it up.
- 17:50Speaker 2: For sure, I will be looking out for it mm hmm.
- 17:57Speaker 2: But I will go ahead and take this time to
- 18:00Speaker 2: shout out bookshop dot org people. I'm not going to
- 18:07Speaker 2: tell you to stop going to Barnes and Noble, because
- 18:10Speaker 2: then I would be a hypocrite. But I will tell
- 18:12Speaker 2: you to stop going to Amazon. I know it's convenient,
- 18:17Speaker 2: I know everything else, but bookshop dot org. You sign up,
- 18:25Speaker 2: it basically ties your account to the closest or you
- 18:31Speaker 2: can choose the closest bookstore brick and mortar bookstore in
- 18:36Speaker 2: your area. Your pre order books, they will get to
- 18:40Speaker 2: you as quickly as possible. And and I still haven't
- 18:44Speaker 2: done this yet because I will admit I have two
- 18:47Speaker 2: audio audiobooks on Audible that I really want to listen
- 18:50Speaker 2: to before I completely give up Audible. But libro dot
- 18:55Speaker 2: fm has audiobooks as well, and the subscription to libro
- 19:01Speaker 2: dot fm, every single month that money goes directly to
- 19:06Speaker 2: the bookshop of choice that you chose for bookshop dot com.
- 19:10Speaker 2: So that's something I'm going to be doing in the future.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I'm going to lose all of my High Republic books
- 19:18Speaker 2: from Audible, which is really sad, but I'm going to
- 19:21Speaker 2: try to get them back with this libro dot fm account.
- 19:28Speaker 3: So you should be able to download them. We can
- 19:30Speaker 3: talk about that afterwards, but you should be able to
- 19:34Speaker 3: download the audio files because I've done that and like
- 19:38Speaker 3: put them into like my Apple music and stuff.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Then I will definitely want to talk to you after this.
- 19:46Speaker 2: But yeah, so for all of your Essential Legends stuff,
- 19:50Speaker 2: all of the future High Republic books we only have
- 19:53Speaker 2: three more left, as well as in the and all
- 19:57Speaker 2: future Star Wars books support some local businesses people. That
- 20:03Speaker 2: is it for the book news. I do believe, yes,
- 20:11Speaker 2: that is it. And currently well, I do want to
- 20:16Speaker 2: bring up this before we get onto the trailer for
- 20:25Speaker 2: and Or. You shared this little thing on I believe
- 20:30Speaker 2: Instagram analytics show that the Acolyte is still high in
- 20:41Speaker 2: demands fans push for a renewal. We have said this
- 20:49Speaker 2: time and time again. People like new content, That's a given, ye,
- 20:58Speaker 2: people like new things in Star Wars. Do you know
- 21:04Speaker 2: what proves that the Acolytes and the Skeleton Crew people
- 21:15Speaker 2: were really excited every single week for Skeleton Crew, it
- 21:18Speaker 2: is the two most different shows to come out on
- 21:24Speaker 2: Disney Plus. And I just don't see what. Well, I
- 21:30Speaker 2: do see why. I do see why. Unfortunately, but in
- 21:38Speaker 2: the hilariously successful, by the way way that the MCU
- 21:49Speaker 2: is going back on some decisions and it working. We
- 21:56Speaker 2: saw that today as the time we were recording this,
- 22:03Speaker 2: they should go back. And when I say they, I
- 22:05Speaker 2: mean Disney should go back on their decision of the Accolade.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I will say that until I'm blue in the face,
- 22:12Speaker 2: same hair, because it.
- 22:18Speaker 3: This really worked as a show, and sometimes you have
- 22:22Speaker 3: to spend money to make money. And this show was
- 22:26Speaker 3: filmed in the middle of COVID, in the middle of
- 22:28Speaker 3: a strike. Like yes, okay, they paid assistance and made
- 22:34Speaker 3: sure that they have living expenses while the show was
- 22:38Speaker 3: put on pause. Oh my gosh, you paid people and
- 22:43Speaker 3: enabled them to have benefits and stuff like yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And that's why I say, like, I know the reason why.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I know why some of the most idiotic decisions are
- 22:54Speaker 2: made in Hollywood. It's just it baffles me every single
- 23:02Speaker 2: time I see a decision like this made, it's just
- 23:06Speaker 2: like I because because we've said it here more than once,
- 23:13Speaker 2: I've said I know that I've said it here more
- 23:15Speaker 2: than once. I'm tired of seeing the same song and dance.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I don't want to say, see the same thing over
- 23:21Speaker 2: and over and over again.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:23Speaker 2: And there's just a really weird corner of this fandom
- 23:29Speaker 2: that just thinks Star Wars is episode four and that
- 23:33Speaker 2: is it. And I just don't understand.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Why it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, Like at the
- 23:43Speaker 3: end of the day, like we want to grow with
- 23:46Speaker 3: our content and not see the same thing over and
- 23:48Speaker 3: over again. You and I have said that a bazillion times,
- 23:51Speaker 3: like we said, so we're not going to be at
- 23:52Speaker 3: a dead horse over here. But yep, we do think
- 23:56Speaker 3: the Accolade deserves a second chance. And of.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yes, now I will be sharing this on our screen,
- 24:08Speaker 2: but I will not be putting it at full screen.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I will keep it here in this small little bubble
- 24:20Speaker 2: and or second trailer. O, Katie, you reminded me that
- 24:25Speaker 2: I still needed to watch this. I watched this literally
- 24:28Speaker 2: moments before we went live. Katie, how do you feel
- 24:32Speaker 2: about the second trailer a little. I love this, you do, Okay,
- 24:37Speaker 2: tell me about why.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Mad Mockma in particular, like her getting to see her
- 24:44Speaker 3: speech or like bits of her speech is like killer.
- 24:49Speaker 3: But also seeing our characters in like this moment Aun
- 24:53Speaker 3: d'antuine where they're like eating and like chilling and eating lunch.
- 24:58Speaker 3: But then you have like, oh, crap, the empire is here,
- 25:02Speaker 3: K two s O. I'm assuming beating up a guy
- 25:05Speaker 3: like h Crinic with the test star that that scene.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And then yeah, we're gonna talk about it.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Do you think she's getting force choked or is she
- 25:18Speaker 3: having a panic attack? My boat is panic attack.
- 25:21Speaker 2: But so that is the big question. Okay, that is
- 25:28Speaker 2: the big question. I've seen a lot of different people
- 25:33Speaker 2: trying to make and people hate watch even the trailers,
- 25:37Speaker 2: which I think is dumb. But they're like, oh, is
- 25:40Speaker 2: this gonna be another one of those moments where they're
- 25:43Speaker 2: forced to put Darth Vader in the long hallway just
- 25:48Speaker 2: so that way people can get excited about and or
- 25:51Speaker 2: shut people were excited about and or before this. The
- 26:00Speaker 2: idea of her being force choked worries me a little bit.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I don't think that Darth Vader needs to show up,
- 26:15Speaker 2: because that was never what the first season, Like, I
- 26:23Speaker 2: didn't watch season one expecting Darth Vader.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Darth Vader doesn't need to be in everything. He doesn't.
- 26:33Speaker 3: I totally agree to Gilroy makes a very good Star Wars,
- 26:38Speaker 3: and he has like been in interviews and is like,
- 26:41Speaker 3: this is probably the most important thing that I will
- 26:44Speaker 3: ever make, and it's all in the political commentary. And
- 26:49Speaker 3: the idea here is that there's always a bigger There's
- 26:54Speaker 3: always bigger fish. Basically, you don't need to see the
- 26:58Speaker 3: bigger fish to make it happen. It the bigger fish
- 27:01Speaker 3: is in the Death Star. Being present, is in critic
- 27:05Speaker 3: being here, like is in monmokamous speech. We're presumably like
- 27:13Speaker 3: like we have like the Senate and like Palpatine potentially
- 27:17Speaker 3: listening in. We don't need the hand of the Sith
- 27:23Speaker 3: here like manipulating things like yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 2: And and that have a panic attack. The the idea,
- 27:34Speaker 2: like you said, the bigger fish is the Death Star's presence.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Season one, we didn't see the Death Star until the
- 27:44Speaker 2: very last scene. The last frame of season one was
- 27:52Speaker 2: the reveal of the Death Star. Here we see a
- 27:57Speaker 2: little bit of it because now we see the progression
- 27:59Speaker 2: of time, we see how much the death Star has
- 28:02Speaker 2: been made. That's all you need, that threat, because we
- 28:07Speaker 2: know that the whole reason for and Or as a
- 28:10Speaker 2: show is to get us to that first scene with
- 28:17Speaker 2: Cassian in Rogue one. We know that that's the whole
- 28:23Speaker 2: reason why this show exists, is to show the evolution
- 28:28Speaker 2: of Cassian, to show how like the crazy decisions that
- 28:34Speaker 2: he will probably be making in this season. Right, So,
- 28:42Speaker 2: when it was first presented to me that she could
- 28:47Speaker 2: have a panic attack, I was like, okay, But then
- 28:51Speaker 2: the second person showed a really cool gift that they
- 28:57Speaker 2: had made, which in season one, she adjusts her collar
- 29:02Speaker 2: ever so slightly, and then the gift immediately turns into
- 29:07Speaker 2: this scene where she's like trying to like get those
- 29:11Speaker 2: collar off.
- 29:12Speaker 3: And those collars are very high on a uniform and
- 29:17Speaker 3: they look like a marine collar, which is intentionally very
- 29:21Speaker 3: high because it's supposed to like indicate like armor and stuff.
- 29:26Speaker 3: But armor is also very suffocating. And in this instance,
- 29:31Speaker 3: if you are panicking about something, wouldn't you want to
- 29:35Speaker 3: remove the tree?
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, to Breathe want to breathe, And I want it
- 29:42Speaker 2: to be the panic attack because a part of me
- 29:47Speaker 2: wants to see people get angry that like, oh man,
- 29:51Speaker 2: it wasn't Darth Vader.
- 29:53Speaker 4: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 29:57Speaker 4: be right back.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I know she if it is a panic attack, look
- 30:02Speaker 2: at her expression right now. She's gonna sell the hell
- 30:05Speaker 2: out of that freaking scene. Yep, I want to see
- 30:08Speaker 2: that scene.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Like, and you can say, oh, well, Darth Vader was
- 30:13Speaker 3: in Rogue one. Rogue one was also going to theaters
- 30:17Speaker 3: where they had the potential to make bookus of money.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Yep.
- 30:20Speaker 3: There is no money making business in this, Like we
- 30:25Speaker 3: know Disney is constantly losing money on Disney plus, like,
- 30:30Speaker 3: there's no reason to put Darth Vader in here to
- 30:33Speaker 3: bring more people to see them to see the shot.
- 30:37Speaker 2: And you know, there's there's still the conversations of like,
- 30:40Speaker 2: are we getting a Mando season four? Are we not
- 30:42Speaker 2: getting Mando season four? Is that what the movie's there for?
- 30:46Speaker 2: Are we gonna get anything after Ahsoka season two? Like
- 30:50Speaker 2: the future of Star Wars television is literally unknown, correct,
- 30:57Speaker 2: So we can assume by default, like, hey, there's there's
- 31:07Speaker 2: nothing to lose in making just a quote unquote normal
- 31:14Speaker 2: political Star Wars story without the use of lightsabers, from
- 31:23Speaker 2: time to time we have made the comment, Oh, these
- 31:27Speaker 2: Star Wars shows have the Star Wars or have the
- 31:33Speaker 2: lightsaber problem. This show is not one of them.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Yeah, So I think that it is going to be
- 31:44Speaker 2: a very interesting conversation, to say the least. But I
- 31:51Speaker 2: really like this trailer the I like how it starts
- 31:58Speaker 2: off slow. The beginning of this trailer is very slow.
- 32:04Speaker 2: It's very somber, but as like up to the moment
- 32:09Speaker 2: where you see Cassie and fly out of that hangar,
- 32:13Speaker 2: it just starts to build up and up and up
- 32:15Speaker 2: and up and up, and that I think is very
- 32:19Speaker 2: much telling of how the season's gonna be. Yeah, I
- 32:23Speaker 2: think we're gonna see a lot of those low moments
- 32:25Speaker 2: in the very beginning of the season, and then once
- 32:30Speaker 2: that second week hits weeks three and four, it's all
- 32:35Speaker 2: going to crash. Like it's not and not in the
- 32:38Speaker 2: sense of being bad, but I mean like we've hit
- 32:41Speaker 2: the pinnacle and now we get to see how everything
- 32:44Speaker 2: kind of goes to shit for both sides of this war.
- 32:50Speaker 2: So I think it's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I'm really really excited. We have a little under a
- 32:59Speaker 2: month before we get there. So we'll see. We shall see, indeed.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Very The next thing, well, really, the only thing we
- 33:16Speaker 2: have left on the news cycle is Ahsoka.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Season two has seemingly started filming. Yeah, which is interesting
- 33:28Speaker 3: because we have celebration in three weeks. So why would
- 33:33Speaker 3: you start filming right now?
- 33:36Speaker 2: I know why, because you film somewhat close to celebration
- 33:47Speaker 2: and then you legit just fly them to celebration. They'd
- 33:53Speaker 2: be like, hey, we're here. Yeah, that's what I feel.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Yeah, especially when Ansoka has a panel all dedicated to
- 34:03Speaker 3: itself and is one of the main ticket items. I'm
- 34:10Speaker 3: interested to see what will come of this.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I will be interested to see because again, we've seen
- 34:20Speaker 2: a lot of rumors, and we've also seen the lack
- 34:25Speaker 2: thereof rumors. I feel like we've seen less rumors than
- 34:30Speaker 2: we did season one before that started filming. Do we
- 34:37Speaker 2: get the heavily rumored Obi Wan Kenobi Anakin Skywalker Clone
- 34:45Speaker 2: Wars flashback? Yeah?
- 34:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Now. From what I remember, this was a fully shot
- 35:03Speaker 2: volume production, so no set photos leaked. Do they go
- 35:11Speaker 2: the same round? Do you think that's the way they
- 35:13Speaker 2: do it?
- 35:17Speaker 3: I think they said they were using the volume a
- 35:19Speaker 3: lot less this season is what the rumor has been.
- 35:24Speaker 3: So I think we'll see more leaks. I don't know
- 35:28Speaker 3: necessarily what for.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it'll be interesting. I'm excited. Same here, very very excited.
- 35:39Speaker 3: We won't get it until twenty twenty seven, you know, but.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I mean we are gonna have plenty of content between then.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I mean we have Visions free to look theoretically, Yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 2: theoretically we have Visions Season three to look forward to.
- 35:58Speaker 3: We have.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm Vision season three, Vision Season three.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Mandalorin and Grogu in twenty twenty.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Six, Yes, Mendlori and Grogu, And I mean Sean Levy's movie.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Probably coming out before twenty twenty seven.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, probably not getting that until
- 36:27Speaker 2: twenty seven, so who knows.
- 36:31Speaker 3: We'll see plenty of content.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and guys, we know I said that more in
- 36:39Speaker 2: the sense of Katie and I will have more content
- 36:42Speaker 2: with more and more books to read books.
- 36:45Speaker 3: We always have books.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Yes, all right, so Katie, let's go ahead and talk resistance.
- 36:59Speaker 2: This was my first time watching this show. Was this
- 37:04Speaker 2: your first time watching this show?
- 37:06Speaker 3: No? I think this is like my seventh time through
- 37:09Speaker 3: it because I watched it for the first time, and
- 37:11Speaker 3: then we've tried to review it I think two other
- 37:14Speaker 3: times before this, Yeah, and we ended up skipping it.
- 37:20Speaker 3: So I had watched it for all those occasions and
- 37:23Speaker 3: then like my sister wanted to watch it and stuff.
- 37:26Speaker 3: So yes, I've watched this before. So for those of
- 37:33Speaker 3: you who are unaware, Resistance is the sequel trilogy animated
- 37:39Speaker 3: TV show that was created by Dave Filoni and was
- 37:43Speaker 3: executive produced by Dave Filoni. It only ran for two
- 37:47Speaker 3: seasons for a total of forty episodes. Season one takes
- 37:52Speaker 3: place primarily before the Force awakens and ends with the
- 38:01Speaker 3: Cosmian System getting blown up in General Hux's speech and
- 38:06Speaker 3: everything that takes place in the second to last episode
- 38:11Speaker 3: of the season or part one of the final episode
- 38:14Speaker 3: of the season, and then episode so two takes place
- 38:19Speaker 3: or episode two. Season two takes place during the Last
- 38:23Speaker 3: Jedi and up to the lead up to the rise
- 38:28Speaker 3: of Skywalker, So that's kind of your time reference associated
- 38:36Speaker 3: with the show. It has a very different animation style.
- 38:40Speaker 3: How did you feel about the animation style.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I did not like it at first. At first. I
- 38:48Speaker 2: felt that it was a little weird, especially when we
- 38:53Speaker 2: are looking at Poe Damaran's characters. Specifically, for some reason,
- 38:58Speaker 2: Poe Damren's character looks like he has one honker of
- 39:02Speaker 2: a nose in this animation style. When you look at
- 39:08Speaker 2: Poe dammeron, I don't think he has that bad of
- 39:11Speaker 2: a looking nose, but it is so intensely profound in
- 39:20Speaker 2: this animation style for some stupid reason. But this isn't
- 39:27Speaker 2: an actual like impersonator. This is actually the man himself.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Yes, in season one, Oscar Isaac portray's Poe damn Roon
- 39:42Speaker 3: and in season two, because I do believe he's in
- 39:49Speaker 3: season two. Yeah, So Captain FAsMA is voiced by Gwendolen
- 39:53Speaker 3: Christie in season one and season two is different. Domhall
- 39:58Speaker 3: Gleason portrays General Huh in season one, does not portray
- 40:02Speaker 3: him in season two.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Basically, what ends up happening is they realize how big
- 40:10Speaker 2: their name is and then they're like, hey, we want
- 40:14Speaker 2: more money, and then Disney was like, hey we can
- 40:19Speaker 2: replace you. Yeah, so and and more so we can
- 40:23Speaker 2: replace your voice. So that's why I can see there
- 40:28Speaker 2: being a huge change in making uh for their voices there.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm actually looking at it. I don't I don't
- 40:41Speaker 3: think Poe is actually in season two. Yeah, he's not
- 40:44Speaker 3: in season two. It was just FAsMA, which makes sense
- 40:48Speaker 3: because with season two taking place over the last Jedi,
- 40:54Speaker 3: Poe's a little busy. So yeah, but we're here about
- 41:00Speaker 3: season one.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Yes, uh so my question to you is how did
- 41:09Speaker 2: you feel about this cast of characters?
- 41:13Speaker 3: So I find the cast of characters generally a little frustrating.
- 41:20Speaker 3: I really enjoy Yeager. I think Yeager is the brush
- 41:27Speaker 3: brusque character that is desperately needed in the show. Everybody
- 41:32Speaker 3: else is just a little too goofy, And I know
- 41:38Speaker 3: everybody thinks animation is supposed to be for kids. I
- 41:41Speaker 3: feel like this is like the first time Disney Like
- 41:43Speaker 3: takes that legitimately serious.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I was gonna say now here. They stay true to
- 41:50Speaker 2: Star Wars. They still make this a political show in
- 41:58Speaker 2: I think the most bottom of the bar a way
- 42:00Speaker 2: that you can with it still being Star Wars. But
- 42:06Speaker 2: when you look at the story, you look at the
- 42:08Speaker 2: story beats, you look at the the moments of comedic
- 42:19Speaker 2: timing and all of these other things, this does feel
- 42:26Speaker 2: like it is quote unquote a little bit of a
- 42:30Speaker 2: downgrade compared to that of Rebels and Clone Wars.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and Resistance still has people who genuinely love it,
- 42:41Speaker 3: and people have been trying because a lot of people
- 42:44Speaker 3: have said Resistance was originally greenlit for three seasons, very
- 42:47Speaker 3: standard to Star Wars and kind of figuring things out
- 42:52Speaker 3: for these shows, but it got cut off very quickly.
- 42:59Speaker 3: So it has a lot of fans in that regard,
- 43:03Speaker 3: and you'll see like Resistance remembered and people have been
- 43:07Speaker 3: like trying to figure out why it never got like
- 43:10Speaker 3: DVD releases and whatnot. So it still has fans. And
- 43:15Speaker 3: I'm not saying it's a bad show just compared to
- 43:18Speaker 3: other animated shows, even that bad season one. Like I
- 43:23Speaker 3: would say this is probably my least favorite one of
- 43:29Speaker 3: the bunch. And I don't mind that Kaz is very
- 43:36Speaker 3: naive and tends to have a lot of stuff go
- 43:38Speaker 3: wrong for him. What I do mind is I feel
- 43:42Speaker 3: like he's just one of many characters that are a
- 43:48Speaker 3: little naive or still trying to figure things out, namely Niku,
- 43:55Speaker 3: because I feel like Niicto characters in Star Wars aren't
- 44:00Speaker 3: as literal as he is, and he seems very like
- 44:08Speaker 3: I don't know the word, but he's he's very serious.
- 44:12Speaker 3: But it makes fun of being serious and like taking
- 44:16Speaker 3: things literally. Torah another character that feels just a little
- 44:22Speaker 3: too naive along with Kaz, So I feel like having
- 44:25Speaker 3: all three of them involved in that way lessons how
- 44:31Speaker 3: the show ultimately feels as far as being able to
- 44:36Speaker 3: take the show seriously.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yep. I agree. I got really annoyed with Kaz very
- 44:46Speaker 2: early on with the show because there is this h
- 44:55Speaker 2: ignorance kind of thing with him. He is a NEPO baby,
- 45:00Speaker 2: so like there's this this whole idea of like, oh,
- 45:05Speaker 2: has he really earned the things that he's done. But
- 45:08Speaker 2: you that's one thing that I actually do really like
- 45:11Speaker 2: about his character is that like he talks all this
- 45:16Speaker 2: man wanting to be a spy and he's so excited
- 45:19Speaker 2: to kind of, you know, have this thing fall into
- 45:21Speaker 2: his lap or whatever. But like he was in the Navy,
- 45:25Speaker 2: m it's not like he like is a legitimate NEPO
- 45:31Speaker 2: baby that just doesn't sit around and do anything. He
- 45:34Speaker 2: actually has some sort of effort in the resistance, so
- 45:39Speaker 2: and I like he really like that.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and he impresses Poe without Poe knowing who he
- 45:45Speaker 3: was at all, like with his flying capabilities, so he
- 45:50Speaker 3: has the talent and clearly like he goes to ask
- 45:54Speaker 3: his father's permission, which we have seen his father before.
- 45:58Speaker 3: This is his first appearance, Senators, you'll.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Know, and we're about to jump into our third ad, y'all.
- 46:05Speaker 3: We promise we'll be right back. We promise. The senator
- 46:08Speaker 3: has also been in the Mandalorian, and I believe he
- 46:12Speaker 3: was also in Ahsoka.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Yes he was.
- 46:17Speaker 3: So he's making appearances. They're making connections.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Although in season one of Resistance you've never seen it.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Correct, you just hear the voice, so fair points, fair points.
- 46:36Speaker 3: But like he goes to ask his father for permission
- 46:39Speaker 3: in that instance, and his father's like, oh, you just
- 46:41Speaker 3: want something else from me, and Kaz is like, no,
- 46:47Speaker 3: I don't, Like, I don't need your permission to go
- 46:49Speaker 3: do this, because that's basically what he was looking for is, Hey,
- 46:52Speaker 3: you're a senator in the New Republic. I want to
- 46:55Speaker 3: go help the Resistance? Can I do that? Yes, sir? Now,
- 47:00Speaker 3: and we all know what happens. Let me turn on
- 47:04Speaker 3: my overhead light because I am darkening very fast.
- 47:09Speaker 2: So I really dug the way that Haz and BB
- 47:20Speaker 2: eight had this relationship. But I really love the moment
- 47:26Speaker 2: that Poe comes into any episode BB eight, it's like
- 47:30Speaker 2: peace out, dude, that's my human, which I think is
- 47:36Speaker 2: actually really hilarious. But one thing that I really enjoyed
- 47:42Speaker 2: about this season was uh oh crap, I forget his name.
- 47:48Speaker 2: The guy that's in charge of the entire base does. Yes,
- 47:55Speaker 2: he has a little bit of a background. He is
- 47:59Speaker 2: uh a ex uh imperial imperial Yeah, And it's like
- 48:07Speaker 2: it's really awkward because like the moment you see it,
- 48:14Speaker 2: it's uh he And the reason why you even find
- 48:20Speaker 2: out is like Kaz decides to hide in his office
- 48:25Speaker 2: when he's trying to, you know, be a spy, and
- 48:28Speaker 2: you just see the old uniform and it like it
- 48:33Speaker 2: kind of makes you feel like a little icky. Is
- 48:35Speaker 2: like why would you keep it? You know, like like
- 48:40Speaker 2: if you're wanting to move forward, is it just like
- 48:45Speaker 2: to remind you of what could still be? Or like
- 48:49Speaker 2: what I like, it just feels kind of weird. But overall,
- 48:55Speaker 2: he for the most part is legitimately making the right decisions,
- 49:04Speaker 2: not only for his daughter but for everybody there, Like
- 49:07Speaker 2: he wants to make those right decisions. Mike.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Uh.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Another question that I had for you is we actually
- 49:21Speaker 2: got some force sensitive individuals on this show. You're looking
- 49:32Speaker 2: at me like I'm crazy.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Oho, do you think is more sensitive the children? So
- 49:41Speaker 3: I don't have I don't think they're technically for sensitive.
- 49:46Speaker 1: What.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I like there's some decision making that they have,
- 49:52Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure like whether it be like force
- 49:56Speaker 2: insight or something that like is kind of on the
- 50:00Speaker 2: nose that like makes it in a way obvious that
- 50:06Speaker 2: they're more sensitive. Do you not think that they are?
- 50:11Speaker 3: Okay? So, Wikipedia, I didn't think there were Wikipedia has
- 50:16Speaker 3: Ilah the sister as a force sensitive human female. Yeah,
- 50:24Speaker 3: kel is not listed as for sensitive.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Okay, so the brother is not, but she is, Yeah.
- 50:32Speaker 3: And I think so. I think the basis of so
- 50:41Speaker 3: the basis for her for sensitivity is the dreams that
- 50:47Speaker 3: she has. Oh Like in the Beibo episode, she has
- 50:55Speaker 3: dreams about uh Bibo's mother coming to the station, and
- 51:01Speaker 3: so that appears to be their only reference for her
- 51:05Speaker 3: for sensitivity is the dreams. You learn more about them
- 51:12Speaker 3: in the second season, so I don't want to dive
- 51:14Speaker 3: too far into them.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, I have not seen a single episode season. Yeah,
- 51:23Speaker 2: I was waiting. I was waiting until we actually move forward. Uh.
- 51:28Speaker 2: So that way it would be fresh on my mind
- 51:30Speaker 2: when we talk.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't remember. I just was looking them
- 51:35Speaker 3: up because they're from the planet Tahar, and so I
- 51:40Speaker 3: was looking up Tahar and it comes back into play
- 51:44Speaker 3: in the second season. So that's like my only memory
- 51:47Speaker 3: because it's been a while since I've seen season two.
- 51:49Speaker 2: So yeah, but uh, I do like this show also,
- 51:59Speaker 2: were not not having a lot of filler. I think
- 52:06Speaker 2: mostly every episode is somewhat connected. They make progress throughout
- 52:13Speaker 2: the show in the sense of the story moves.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Forward, the characters are built out.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there there is, and I feel like, well
- 52:28Speaker 2: not that I feel. I hope that there's more fleshed
- 52:32Speaker 2: out for Yaeger in season two. But I feel like
- 52:36Speaker 2: the one episode that he got with his brother, I
- 52:41Speaker 2: think it was, uh was it his brother or was
- 52:45Speaker 2: it just like an old friend. I can't remember exactly.
- 52:49Speaker 3: I do think it is his brother.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yeah, where they do like the small little race or whatever.
- 53:00Speaker 2: I do hope that we get more into his backstory
- 53:09Speaker 2: from from what we have already got.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I remember the episode. I think Disney Plus did something
- 53:14Speaker 3: funny because I was when I finished episode eight last
- 53:19Speaker 3: night and then I put episode nine, I played it,
- 53:23Speaker 3: and I think it skipped the episode that you're talking about,
- 53:27Speaker 3: but I remember the episode. It did something funny where
- 53:30Speaker 3: it was like, I think it picked up on episode
- 53:34Speaker 3: ten instead of episode nine when I was strange playing
- 53:39Speaker 3: through so because I was like, I know that episode
- 53:44Speaker 3: was in here, So yeah, I did not get to
- 53:47Speaker 3: that episode because it was doing funny.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Thanks, But uh, how did you how did you feel
- 53:55Speaker 2: about or do you think they did enough in at
- 54:01Speaker 2: least in season one? Again, I haven't seen season two,
- 54:05Speaker 2: so I can't really ask for it, but how did
- 54:10Speaker 2: you feel about season one giving you those little breadcrumbs
- 54:17Speaker 2: for what is to become in The Force Awakens and
- 54:23Speaker 2: the rest of the sequel trilogy.
- 54:25Speaker 3: I really like how that's fleshed out and how sorry
- 54:30Speaker 3: I left my phone volume on apparently, I like how
- 54:35Speaker 3: they fleshed it out and involving Poe in Like, I
- 54:39Speaker 3: haven't read the Poe comic that's all on Marvel Unlimited,
- 54:42Speaker 3: but now I'm like, I kind of want to go
- 54:44Speaker 3: in and read that just to kind of see if
- 54:47Speaker 3: that comic plays off these episodes. Any knowing soul, there's
- 54:54Speaker 3: potential there for what he could potentially have pulled in,
- 55:01Speaker 3: So yeah, I kind of really dig it now. I
- 55:04Speaker 3: think some of like the stuff with FAsMA, and I
- 55:09Speaker 3: know the speech from Hucks is like dialogue pulled from
- 55:14Speaker 3: the movie. Like there's no like additional at least Hucks
- 55:18Speaker 3: is pulled from the movie. If not Gwendol and Christie stuff. Yeah,
- 55:22Speaker 3: So I would be interested to see, uh how much
- 55:27Speaker 3: they actually filmed, because I feel like if Christy was
- 55:32Speaker 3: involved a lot more, I feel like that could build
- 55:36Speaker 3: a lot up because I just have Delilah Dawson's FAsMA
- 55:41Speaker 3: novel in my head and I just love the depth
- 55:45Speaker 3: that her character gets.
- 55:46Speaker 1: In that.
- 55:47Speaker 3: It doesn't answer your question. I kind of went on
- 55:49Speaker 3: the tangent, but it's so good.
- 55:51Speaker 2: It's so good. Well because you I can't remember what
- 55:56Speaker 2: they named the weapon in Force Awakens struck the star Killer.
- 56:02Speaker 2: You get the like the small inklings of that in
- 56:04Speaker 2: Season one of Resistance, and I think that is very smart.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Like even if you're like a young kid that is
- 56:17Speaker 2: starting to pick up things like contact clues and you've
- 56:21Speaker 2: seen The Force Awakens, you watch some of these episodes,
- 56:25Speaker 2: you're like, oh my gosh, that's the thing from the
- 56:29Speaker 2: other movie, you know, And I think that's really great.
- 56:33Speaker 2: I think it's really fun when in a universe like
- 56:38Speaker 2: Star Wars you can do these things and actually have
- 56:44Speaker 2: somewhat of consequences because you can play off of what's
- 56:48Speaker 2: to come in the future. So I really do like that.
- 56:56Speaker 2: I see if I have any other questions or any
- 57:01Speaker 2: comments towards this, I mean, we've we've talked about Kaz.
- 57:07Speaker 2: I think that, of course, this is his show, so
- 57:13Speaker 2: he has the most character development, and I think that's
- 57:17Speaker 2: one thing I will say. The other characters don't have
- 57:24Speaker 2: enough development. They're kind of just the characters that they
- 57:29Speaker 2: are mm hmm, and they're.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Just and that's what you need multiple seasons, because I
- 57:37Speaker 3: feel like in season one of Rebels, your story is
- 57:44Speaker 3: mostly focused on Ezra, but as you get on into
- 57:50Speaker 3: further seasons, the rest of the Rebels crew is able
- 57:53Speaker 3: to be fleshed out a little bit more. But in
- 57:59Speaker 3: this case, you spend most of season one trying to
- 58:03Speaker 3: get just a basis for your character overall, and that
- 58:07Speaker 3: character you have to pick and choose, and that has
- 58:09Speaker 3: to be Cas. In this instance, you do get more
- 58:12Speaker 3: time with the other characters in season two, but it's
- 58:16Speaker 3: just you're limited by having to build a basis for
- 58:19Speaker 3: the story and flushing out the Colossus.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Also, yeah, yeah, I agree, but you got anything else
- 58:36Speaker 2: to add?
- 58:37Speaker 3: I do not. I think it's an okay show. There's
- 58:44Speaker 3: definitely some high points, but I just don't want to
- 58:47Speaker 3: dwell on the negative feels.
- 58:51Speaker 2: And like we always say, it is okay to just
- 58:55Speaker 2: be okay. Correct point of conversation. In this episode that
- 59:03Speaker 2: we said was not going to be a very long episode,
- 59:06Speaker 2: we are rounding up to the one hour mark Star
- 59:13Speaker 2: Wars Thron Alliances.
- 59:16Speaker 3: I forgot how much I love this book.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Adrian and Katie told me that if I liked Star
- 59:25Speaker 2: Wars Thron, then I will absolutely love Thron Alliances. And Guys,
- 59:33Speaker 2: I was prepared for this my entire time reading. I
- 59:38Speaker 2: kept a Batman bookmark because I can't believe I'm saying this,
- 59:47Speaker 2: but when I read Thron and his thought process, I
- 59:54Speaker 2: think of Batman. That shouldn't make any sense. Ron is
- 59:59Speaker 2: a bad I should not be thinking of Batman when
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: I think of Thron, and that's exactly what I think
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: of when I read this book. When I read the
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: way that Thron thinks, he moves, every single step has purpose.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: thanks for bearing with us.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Am I not a Thron fan. I don't know how
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: I feel about this. I Well, first I want to
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: say rip to every single so far female perspective with
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Timothy's on because unfortunately, the only story that I was
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: not hugely like, like, I wasn't shopping at the bit
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: to like finish her story because I wanted to know
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: the rest of her story or her part of the
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: story was Paden's part. And like they connected it very well.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: It got to a point where they, you know, got
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: to the climax of the movie and they're like, Okay,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: everybody's together and we're gonna see how they get out
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: of this. But like every single time it became pad
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Ma's part of the book, I was just like, Okay,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: this is important, let's get through this. I'm reading it,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: and I don't know if it's because Timothy's Zoon doesn't
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: know how to write these characters, or if it was
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: just him saying, hey, this is our bridge to get
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: where we need to go between the future and past
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: of Darth Vader, Enthron and Anakin and Thron.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: I think he does a little bit better with the
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: female perspectives when it's characters he could be more flexible with.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: But Padme is by definition not a very flexible character.
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: So Zoon writes his characters a very specific way, with
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: a fluid okay, I can't really say fluid dialogue because
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: it's it's very robotic, and that lends itself very well
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: to Thron's character because the Chiss species are very robotic
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: in nature. And then you have Vader, who does very
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: well at being a robot because he's mostly robot. Anakin
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: is kind of getting in that direction because this is
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: after Ahsoka has left the order. This takes place in
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: like the six month period when she's completely gone from
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: his life and everything, so he's kind of having to
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: deal with that, and for most of the book he
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: doesn't have Padme. He's worried about Padme, so that automatically
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: brings out the I have no emotions Anakin because he
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: doesn't know what to do with himself because he's worried
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: about losing somebody in his life.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: There was a moment near the end of this book
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: where I thought Anakin was lying to Padme, which moment
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: blowing up the caves m the moment everything starts going
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: to shit. Padme is like, what's going on? And then
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: that one guy I can't remember his name off the
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: top of my head, leb Jow leb Jow. He's like,
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: that's my planet. What are you doing to my planet?
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: And Anakin's like, I don't know, I just blew up
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: a cave. I'm like, Anakin, that's a really bad lie.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Like that is like, you're not pulling anybody. You just
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: went on a rant about how we should probably destroy
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: the factory and all this other stuff. That's a really
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: bad lie. Stop lying. But then of course it goes
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: into the conversation of the cartosis and how it deflects
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: energy and all of this other stuff. So I was like, wow,
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: it actually saved you, so you're not lying. Cool? But kay,
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: this book was almost five stars?
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Almost? Is it because of the time skipping around?
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: No? It is literally let me actually look into how
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: many pages that they nearly perfect?
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Okay, it was.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: Less than a page and a half at the end
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: of the book. This is literally the last two pages,
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: literally one it is the third paragraph to the end
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: is where they lost. When Vader begins to basically tell Thron, Oh,
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: you have an amazing ship. By the way, that Tide
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: Defender is great, but it needs to be faster, it
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: needs to have more guns, but it's a great ship.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I'm like, that's Anakin talking. That's not Darth Vader. And
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: I am upset. I am so upset at that moment.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: And it's immediately after they have the conversation, because again
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: they I knew. I knew, more so because people told me.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that Katie X deadly told me at
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: one point of talking about Legends books, well, just about
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Thron's relationship with Anakin.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Is that.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: And because I've read Star Wars Thron that I knew
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Thron was going to figure it out. I knew Thron
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: was going to put two and two together. Hey, there's Vader,
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: there's Anakin. I fought with Anakin before I'm fighting with
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Darth Vader. Now, I knew that there was going to
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: be a moment where Thron would subtle have aha moment.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: It wasn't even that, guys, it wasn't even that. It
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: felt like he knew the entire time, and he just
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: like he made one offhand comment, just one, and Darth
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Vader was like, bitch, Darth the bitch. Anakin is dead. Okay,
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Anakin is dead. And I love how there was moments
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: in the book where Thron was like, oh, you know,
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: that's right, he's dead, Like oh yeah, okay, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: yeah yeah. But at the end of the book, when
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Vader basically says, this is the last time you're going
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: to speak that name. Anakin is dead, and Theron says,
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: I know, he gives Vader the vindication. He says, hey,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I know who you were, but I know who you
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: are now. Is basically what Thron was saying. I like
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: it that progression. It's that small little storytelling within the
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: bigger story that I really dug there. I really did
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: like it. I again, I love the like almost like
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: on the spectrum type of thinking and like no emotions
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: throng where he's like, I have a mission. The man's
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: a freaking robot. He's an android, Like that's what he is,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: He's I have a mission. Hey, this is the most
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: logical sense I have ever since before in my life.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Why is nobody ever thinking about this stuff? But a
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: weird way, Again, you're not supposed to root for the
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: bad guy, but for some reason, it's damn bunk. You're
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: rooting for the bad guy. There is a there is
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: a is it a commander? I can't remember who? No, no, no, no,
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: not Kiemen, the female the one that is like basically
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: commodore Pharaoh. Yes, commodore Pharaoh. H fiora pharaoh? Is it pharaoh? Okay?
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: He's like teaching her and like giving her these like
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: weird like pats on the back, but not pats on
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: the back, Like it's like she acknowledged that he is
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: like acknowledging her and like, oh, just by the expression,
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: I know that I'm doing a good job and this
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: is how we do things. And I'm like, this is
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: exactly what he did in the first book. He was like, oh,
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: hey did you see this? Oh hey, what did you
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: think of this? This was on a much smoother level,
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: I think because we got to see Sarah. Well, Sarah
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: was actually like she was talking it out. It wasn't
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Yron saying hey, what do you think is going on here?
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: She was kind of getting it as he was, and
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: that was a treat within itself for them.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: Yeah, because you have that where she learned in Thrawn,
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: like hey, I'm okay to talk things out with Ron,
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: like he's not going to yell at me if I
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: speak my mind on something and stuff. So she's already
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: made that progression into Okay, we're good here, like I'm good,
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: I can talk this out and learn in the moment.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: My question to you, and I guess you, well, I
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: do want to know, but I don't want to know
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: because you've read all these.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Yes, but it's been a while since I had read.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: All these Okay, so the big twists in this book,
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: and I also love that it's like the only way
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Thron can kick Bader in the nuts for the entire
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: book is like I know something you don't know. You
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: don't I know something you don't know, and you're not
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: gonna like it. The Chiss Children, the force sensitive Chiss Children.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: The sky Walk.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that is what I was gonna say. What the hell?
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: What is that about? Do we learn more?
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: You do learn more? They are decently present in the
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: next book, but Zoon goes ham into them in the
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: prepel trilogy.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: With the with the Yeah. I told myself that I
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: wasn't gonna get sucked in to this whole throng freaking
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: fandom because I thought it was stupid. God damn it.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: But like, so, this is the Throng that I see
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: in the Air to the Empire trilogy, But I see it.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: It's the same Thron. But in this perspective you're getting
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: the Empire's perspective, but Air to the Empire you're getting
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: the Republic's perspective.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: But also that's what I wanted to talk to you about.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: This Thron is not the Thron in Asoka.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: Correct it? Pass me off? I don't know, I don't
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: know how you go. Hey, I'm going to bring in
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Zon to character consult on the live action interpretation of Thron.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: And you can say that Thron has been jaded for
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: being in another galaxy for years or whatever. You can
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: say that, but like, you don't change that much that character.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Not only that, not only that, but like I knew,
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: I knew because we talked about it. There's a lot
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: of reactions for it. But the moment you see Thron's
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: reaction to Ahsoka being a padawan of Anakin Skywalker, I
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: am now remembering that scene. Wasn't enough, wasn't there? There
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: wasn't enough meat and potatoes, as I like to say,
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: in that scene. When we now know the kind of
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: past that Anakin and Thron had, not only that, the
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: kind of past that Thron and Vader had, because Thron
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: knows who Vader is.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: right back.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: That is what I'm starting to get pissed.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Off about, and that Throne doesn't teach. He intentionally wastes lives,
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: like yeah, when they are taking off and one of
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: the Night Sisters is like, well what about Balen And
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: he's like, so fuck him, Like basically is what he's like.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: But that Thront does not exist in this book.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, No, Like if anything in Ahsoka, I feel like
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: we should have known. And again and again, the thing is,
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: with it being Ahsoka, we can be seeing the other side, right,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: We could very much be seeing the fact that he
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: is just a villain. He is he is not the
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: person that we are glorifying him to be in the
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Throng trilogy, right, So I could see it being that
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: you could make an easy argument for that, but I
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: think it's a lazy argument.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: It's very lazy argument, and it's felony basically going, hey,
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: this character is well beloved. It's going to hit the
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: ideological fanboy aka like the idiots of the Star Wars
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: fans end quotes, but it's also going to give me
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: the opportunity to continue using the character that I love,
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: which is Ahsoka. It's a lazy writing and it's why
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: he shouldn't be in charge of lucasfilm.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: Yes, yes, one, I agree with you, But what I
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: was saying is that, like even in Ahsoka, we should
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: have seen more of the chess game that he was playing,
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: and we didn't get any of that. Like you were saying,
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: he used people as the diversion, as the way to escape,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: to be that new emperor or whatever you know, And
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: I just.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: Sorry. The new Emperor is never what Thron wanted to be.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: He's never wanted to be in charge. He wanted to
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: take care of his people and make sure everybody gets
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: out alive. He wants peace, but he does it. He
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: doesn't want it the Chist way, which in the Ascendency
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: trilogy you learn more about that perspective, about the hey,
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: we don't attack first kind of.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Thing, and I love that part. I love that back
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: and forth in this book the entire time, self conscious,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: fucking Invader, which who would have thought that would ever
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: come out of anybody's mouth. Oh he spoke to the
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: boss without me. Oh, I don't know what they were.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: Were they talking about me? Is he trying to replace me? Oh? No, bah.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: But there's this constant back and forth between Vader and
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: and Thron throughout this entire book. Oh so you're a trader.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Oh so you were just looking out for yourself. Oh
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: you're looking to replace me. Oh you want my job?
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: Like back and forth and back and forth. And is like, dude,
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: I don't want anything from you. My entire job is
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: to serve the empire. M but my mission is to
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: protect my people.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: And I can protect the Empire and my people at
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: the same time.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: And Vader got pissed off about it. He was like, oh, vindication,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: I could finally kill him because he basically admitted to treason.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: And Thron was like, you saw me, just do both. Yeah,
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: I can do both. I will always be in the
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: best interest of the Empire, but it will not be
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: without protecting my people. And I was like, god, they
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: are It was good. I really liked it. But yeah,
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: four and five stars. One thing did irk me in
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: the beginning of the story that I wasn't entirely sure
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: how I would feel about it, and I kind of
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: got used to it. But like the way that Zon
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: wrote Anakin and eventually Vader with like the inner thoughts
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: of when he was using his lightsaber, the double vision
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: and like concentrating on his next movements, I felt like
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: was trying to be too much like Thron in the moment,
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: and I didn't really feel that, but I was just like, Okay,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: this is what we're doing for the character. We'll yeah.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: So that it was basically setting up for when Vader
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: does the skywalking at the end, because that's what that's
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: what skywalking is. It's precognition of what's about to happen next.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: So Vader doing that and Anakin doing that, like you
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: have to articulate that on a page somehow. So the
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: best way to do that was like, Hey, here's what
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: this guy's about to do, and it's not something that
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: we've seen and it can really do before. But we
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: also haven't really gotten a whole lot from Anakin's perspective
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: because the Clone Wars is from Ahsoka and the Clones perspective,
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: and then the comics that we've gotten have all been
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: from Obi Wan's perspective, so really I would consider this
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: like the first time you get Anakin's perspective in a book.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, But nevertheless, I enjoyed.
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: It very It's it's very weird because I own Throng
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: in audible form, I own Throng Alliances and physical book form.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to go buy Throng and go find
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: uh Treason. I don't know where it sits in our currency.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: I think Treason we are going to be covering in
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: a couple of weeks with a draft.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: Yeah, two weeks before. Oh that. By the way, that's
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: a little bit of as for you guys, if you
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: didn't hear what Katie just said.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: I came up with an original podcast idea, which isn't
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: really original because it's been done before, but I still it's.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: Original for us, for original for us, It's gonna be fun.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: I hope everybody really enjoys it. We're planning a lot
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: on it. But yeah, so it looks like when the
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: episode drops, it'll be on April seventeenth, so two weeks
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: before the premiere of and Or, we will be talking
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: about Treason. So currently I have basically a week to
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: get a hold of the book and actually start reading it,
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: because we.
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: Are doing a lot of reading in April.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we are. Now, I will say, let's see here
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: looking at the timeline of when I actually grabbed this book.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: By the way, I got this book March sixteenth. I
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: finished this book in ten days. That might be might
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: record the quickest I have finished. Well, no, hold on,
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: I wouldn't say that's the quickest. That's close to the quickest,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: because I think some of the other audio books that
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: I've read, for like The Forest Unleashed and everything else,
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: like I did like three days, but it was more listening.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: This is actually like sitting down and reading it. And
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: then also that was that was the thing I did this.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I used two different forms to read this. I read
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: like the first half physically, and then the middle of
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: the book I used an audio a book, and then
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I read like five chapters physically, and then I read
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: the rest in audio form. Like I it was very
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: weird how I decided to read this book. That's impressive,
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: but it worked and I actually enjoyed it. So we'll
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: see how Treason goes. I will probably pick it up
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: this weekend Payday and hopefully Abby doesn't get mad at me,
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: probably getting one or two other books. So yeah. So
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: with that, guys, I want to thank all of you
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: guys for being here, joining us live as y'all do,
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: uh and listening to the podcast. If you want to
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: follow me and my book journey, you can follow me
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: on Instagram uh and if you guys still have the
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: app on TikTok, I will be adding some questions about
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: recommendations as far as books go. There. If you like
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: comics and would like to follow me on my journey
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: through the comic book industry with my job, follow me
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: on Blue Sky because that's primarily where I am there
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: following all the people that I work with, so yeah,
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: along with Ranger Alliance of course, another part of the
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: gua Jake and I recently dropped another episode. We are
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: back on a normal schedule. Japan takes some days off
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: with yearly shows like this. This show is fifty plus weeks,
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: sometimes forty plus weeks because of the time amount of
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: times they take off, but it's year round, so they
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: do take a week off from time to time. We
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: are back with a new episode this week, so go
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: check that out. And yeah, Katie, but what about.
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: You, y'all. You can find me on moost social media
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: platforms at Slice of Katie. Most of the time, it's
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: story post on Instagram, which could either be about Mara
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: or my crochet or coffee because I drink a lot
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: of coffee right now. So next week, y'all, we will
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: be talking some predictions for Star Wars celebration. We thought
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: we were going to be able to review Into the
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: Light next week. It looks like that episode will probably
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: be recorded not next week, but the fifth and the sixth,
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: with potentially releasing that on the tenth. Remember, Into the
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: Light is the last young adult high public book and
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: that is out next Tuesday, So Clay and I will
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: be reading away on that and hopefully the audiobook comes
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: out next week. But yeah, Star Wars celeration predictions are
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: next week, and that we don't have a review scheduled
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: for next week. Oh you know what, we do have
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: the audible one, the Audible original book. Yes that, yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: so we'll do that and that's what you can expect
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: from us next week, y'all. Remember we're always here unless
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: we're not. Wednesdays, it's seven being the standard time on
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: the GIEK First YouTube channel. And with that, guys, I
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: want to everyone a great day or night, whatever time
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: day you're listening or watching, and we will see you
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: next time. May the Force be with you.
