Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We now crossed to Australia. Donna to my all the
- 0:02Speaker 1: time by the way as fourteen to six. Hello Donna.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hello.
- 0:06Speaker 1: So we've got a prominent ex football player who's joined
- 0:08Speaker 1: a class action against the AFL, the National Football League.
- 0:12Speaker 1: This alleged that he's alleging racial abuse.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yes, well, we already knew that the AFL was facing
- 0:20Speaker 2: legal action, but now we know that this prominent former
- 0:22Speaker 2: player has joined the class action. Lawyers have confirmed that
- 0:26Speaker 2: its former since killed a star and I'm calling him
- 0:30Speaker 2: a true, true superstar of the footy world. NICKI Winmar.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Now he's joined the action and this is very significant.
- 0:37Speaker 2: The AFL is being sued by indigenous players, including Phil
- 0:40Speaker 2: and James Cracker. Now it's alleged they suffered injury, loss
- 0:45Speaker 2: and damage after the organization failed to protect them from
- 0:49Speaker 2: racial abuse. Now Windmar's now fifty nine years old, but
- 0:52Speaker 2: it was about three decades ago. I think it was
- 0:54Speaker 2: nineteen ninety three. In fact, he was at the center
- 0:57Speaker 2: of an iconic moment and it's still discussed to this day.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And he was on the field and he lifted his
- 1:03Speaker 2: footage jumper and he pointed to his skin while he
- 1:07Speaker 2: was being racially abused by opposition team fans. He was
- 1:11Speaker 2: playing Collingwood at the time, so killed her versus Collingwood.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Now there's an unspecified number of Indigenous players in the
- 1:18Speaker 2: class action and now we know that Nicki Winmar has
- 1:21Speaker 2: joined it. They've been given two months to build the case.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And I will add that it was in twenty twenty
- 1:27Speaker 2: three that Collingwood I'm going to say finally apologize to
- 1:31Speaker 2: win La.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Okay, now you've got a tropical cyclone getting close close
- 1:34Speaker 1: to Queensland and it's called Alfred.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yes, brace yourselves Queensland residents because it's due to landfall
- 1:42Speaker 2: this week sometime on Thursday or Friday. Brisbane might even
- 1:46Speaker 2: feel the brunt of this tropical cyclone. And of course
- 1:50Speaker 2: there's the possibility of destructive wins and life threatening flash flooding.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Now it could be upgraded to a category to any minute,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and of course if it maintains that in density as
- 2:00Speaker 2: it approaches the southeast Queensland coast, it could do quite
- 2:05Speaker 2: a lot of damage. In fact, we've heard from the
- 2:07Speaker 2: Bureaum Meteorology issuing a warning that there could be house damage,
- 2:12Speaker 2: significant damage to trees and signs and caravans. Of course,
- 2:15Speaker 2: there's the risk of power failure and the even fearing
- 2:18Speaker 2: that there could be some damage to crops. Wings gus
- 2:20Speaker 2: up to one hundred and sixty four kilometers per hour.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Okay, it's been a fairly calm summer, you have to say, really,
- 2:26Speaker 1: but here we go, Here we go, Here we go.
