- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome to Trillions, a podcast about the exchange traded fund
- 0:10Speaker 1: which you probably know as the e t F. My
- 0:14Speaker 1: name is Joel Wober and I'm Eric Alstis. I'm the
- 0:16Speaker 1: editor of Bloomberg Markets magazine, and I'm an analyst with
- 0:19Speaker 1: Bloomberg Intelligence, and we're starting a podcast about e t
- 0:22Speaker 1: F and how they become such a powerful investing tool. Wait,
- 0:25Speaker 1: e t what come on, Joel, You know what an
- 0:29Speaker 1: e t F is? An exchange traded fund. That's true.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I know a little bit, but I don't know as
- 0:34Speaker 1: much as you. Yeah, I basically spend every waking minute, thinking, writing,
- 0:38Speaker 1: reading about e t f s. But the problem even
- 0:40Speaker 1: for me is it's really easy to over complicate this stuff.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So we're gonna keep things simple and at the same
- 0:45Speaker 1: time we'll be able to give people who already use
- 0:47Speaker 1: ETFs a few nuggets too. It will be a little
- 0:49Speaker 1: bit like a Pixar movie. Kids get something, Mom and
- 0:52Speaker 1: Dad get something. Yeah, we want you to have a
- 0:54Speaker 1: lot of useful information about e t f s, like
- 0:55Speaker 1: how they work, how to pick them, how they can
- 0:57Speaker 1: help you as an investor, and what to be wary of.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And what makes this podcast unique is that We're going
- 1:02Speaker 1: to try and make this topic that feels really daunting
- 1:05Speaker 1: to the average investor a little bit more accessible. Yeah,
- 1:08Speaker 1: this show will be something that a financial advisor might
- 1:10Speaker 1: benefit from, but in a language that my mom can understand.
- 1:14Speaker 1: The bottom line is that for many people, E t
- 1:15Speaker 1: f s are like another planet, and Joel and I
- 1:17Speaker 1: are going to be like your intergalactic tour guides. And
- 1:20Speaker 1: to make this topic fun, we're going to use a
- 1:22Speaker 1: little bit of everything underisposal, some really curate guess, a
- 1:25Speaker 1: lot of metaphors of humor, and probably way too many
- 1:29Speaker 1: eighties references. Maybe some from the nineties as well, and
- 1:31Speaker 1: two thousand's but not many. I'm also going to try
- 1:33Speaker 1: and eat something on every show, why because that's sort
- 1:36Speaker 1: of like what e t f s are doing in finance,
- 1:38Speaker 1: eating everything. So look out for our first episode of
- 1:42Speaker 1: this great new et F podcast on Novem
