- 0:18Speaker 1: Well, this is Kevin Sports here, a daily with the
- 0:20Speaker 1: Folkston and Hight Sports Show here on one oh five
- 0:23Speaker 1: point nine FAM or Radio Folkstone. Well, after a frozen weekend,
- 0:33Speaker 1: there's not much sport to talk about, as the weather
- 0:36Speaker 1: was the winner. But there's always something local sport wise
- 0:39Speaker 1: going on. So why don't you get that ketl on,
- 0:44Speaker 1: make yourself a cup of tea, sit back and relax.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Enjoin me for an hour's sport and music. So what
- 0:55Speaker 2: we're going to do. We're going to start the show.
- 0:57Speaker 1: With a bit of a oldie one. Really, you oldies
- 1:02Speaker 1: will remember this by the Small Faces, but this is
- 1:05Speaker 1: another version by m People and I'll sit back and
- 1:09Speaker 1: enjoy this one Itchi Coup Puck from nineteen ninety four,
- 1:53Speaker 1: End People and Itchiku Puck. The The thing is, do
- 1:59Speaker 1: you prefer the remix? You know when they make one
- 2:02Speaker 1: lot that was recorded in nineteen ninety four, but the
- 2:05Speaker 1: original one that Ichikoo Park. I'm not sure when I
- 2:07Speaker 1: didn't look out, but it was around about the sixties.
- 2:09Speaker 1: The Small Faces, they made such an impact on the
- 2:12Speaker 1: music scene back in the sixties.
- 2:14Speaker 2: But is their song better?
- 2:16Speaker 1: I mean some I personally think that some remixes are
- 2:19Speaker 1: better than the originals, probably because there's a little bit
- 2:21Speaker 1: more technicality or whatever. But I think that one, I
- 2:26Speaker 1: think it's on a part, to be honest, So we
- 2:29Speaker 1: go evens on that one. Okay, So now I've decided
- 2:33Speaker 1: not to even think about inviting guests into the studio
- 2:36Speaker 1: until I'm just getting over this flu bug.
- 2:39Speaker 2: You know, it's still hanging. A bear picked it up.
- 2:41Speaker 1: New Year's Eve in Cornwall, believe it or not, a
- 2:45Speaker 1: very strong strain of a flu bug down there, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: it's just not completely gone. Well, so I'm on my
- 2:52Speaker 1: own in the studio today and not infecting anyone, and
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'll probably start with guests back in February time. And
- 2:59Speaker 1: so anyway, coming up on the show, I've been doing
- 3:01Speaker 1: some research. Although there wasn't much sport around because of
- 3:05Speaker 1: the weather, as we said, but we've still got some
- 3:08Speaker 1: stuff to tell you about local football, rugby hockey, we've
- 3:12Speaker 1: got some basketball news. We've got some wheelchair basketball news
- 3:16Speaker 1: coming up, and don't forget that it won't be long
- 3:19Speaker 1: until the Rugby six Nations.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's fast approaching.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And I'm going to take a little look back at
- 3:24Speaker 1: last week's FA Cup third round tires so plenty.
- 3:28Speaker 2: To keep us going.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So and make sure that kettle is brewing, because I'm
- 3:32Speaker 1: gagging for a cup of tea right coming up from
- 3:35Speaker 1: nineteen ninety eight, we've got the New Radicals.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You get what you give.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Nineteen ninety eight, that one from the New Radicals, and
- 4:10Speaker 1: you get.
- 4:10Speaker 2: What you give. Okay. So I want to tell you
- 4:13Speaker 2: about our.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Radio Focused and quiz and this is coming up on Saturday,
- 4:18Speaker 1: the twenty second February seven point thirty at the Three
- 4:21Speaker 1: Hills Sports Park. And three Hiels are really becoming associated
- 4:25Speaker 1: with Radio Focus and it's very nice they sponsor the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Saturday morning period on the Sports Show and a few
- 4:33Speaker 1: other programs there, So thank you very much, Three Hills. Anyway,
- 4:37Speaker 1: the quiz is five pound per person. There's a maximum
- 4:40Speaker 1: of six in a team, and if you want to
- 4:42Speaker 1: get in for it, just contact Paul Reynolds at nineteen
- 4:46Speaker 1: seventy three gmail dot com.
- 4:49Speaker 2: There'd be cash prizes and.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It's I think there after about sixteen teams, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and I reckon that's going to go quickly. We're raising
- 4:57Speaker 1: funds for our very own radio folks, and we've got
- 5:00Speaker 1: to keep radio alive.
- 5:01Speaker 2: In our town.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know, it's all right switching on the radio, you
- 5:06Speaker 1: know when you're driving in the car. But it does
- 5:09Speaker 1: cost money. So we have got to raise some funds
- 5:12Speaker 1: just to keep the old thing going. So you can
- 5:14Speaker 1: support that by contacting Paul Reynolds at nineteen seventy three
- 5:18Speaker 1: gmail dot com and have a great fun evening and
- 5:21Speaker 1: meet some of us scary old presenters. And on the
- 5:25Speaker 1: twenty second of February. Okay, so we're going to do
- 5:29Speaker 1: a little switch to hockey now. I want to get
- 5:32Speaker 1: this one done because there's a great fixture coming up
- 5:35Speaker 1: two o'clock at the Three Hills. Once again, this is
- 5:41Speaker 1: the men's first team are actually playing the men's second
- 5:44Speaker 1: team now they are the second team got promotion last
- 5:48Speaker 1: year and they got promoted to the same division as
- 5:51Speaker 1: the first team. Now, I watched the original game when
- 5:55Speaker 1: they played each other, and I'll tell you why it
- 5:57Speaker 1: was so close. I think the second kind of erase
- 6:00Speaker 1: their game a little bit and caught the first team
- 6:03Speaker 1: on the hop. But it was a draw, and so
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think the first team will be out for a
- 6:08Speaker 1: bit of revenge. I think both teams haven't played for
- 6:12Speaker 1: a while because of the winter break and then another week.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Last week all the fixtures at three are focus on
- 6:21Speaker 1: Optimus Hockey were wiped out. Now we know they play
- 6:25Speaker 1: on artificial pitches, but I mean if they are rock
- 6:27Speaker 1: solid and the surroundings of the ground are dangerous, then
- 6:32Speaker 1: it makes sense to call it off. So let's hope
- 6:35Speaker 1: that they can fulfill a full set of fixtures today.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So that's the first team men's first team against the
- 6:40Speaker 1: men's second team at two o'clock down at the Three Hills,
- 6:44Speaker 1: And as I said before, why don't you pop down there,
- 6:47Speaker 1: have a pint indoors and if it's all working, they'll
- 6:50Speaker 1: be streaming the game from Pitch one into the.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Clubhouse, so you don't even need to get cold. Well.
- 6:56Speaker 1: The third team they are on the pitch one at
- 6:59Speaker 1: eleven o'clock against Gresham and welcome. The fourth team. They
- 7:03Speaker 1: are away to Canterbury. Seventh team at the Polar Farm
- 7:06Speaker 1: in Canterbury. The fifth team, now I haven't heard of
- 7:09Speaker 1: this team before, but they are The fifth team are
- 7:11Speaker 1: traveling away to College Meadow Pavilion to play at Blackheath Outlaws,
- 7:17Speaker 1: so good luck to them. The sixth team they are
- 7:20Speaker 1: away once again against the Canterbury Canterbury Friars at the
- 7:24Speaker 1: Polar Farm. The seventh team they are on three Hills
- 7:27Speaker 1: pitch two at twelve o'clock against burnt Ash and the
- 7:31Speaker 1: men's eighth team. Oh they're getting a little run out
- 7:34Speaker 1: on pitch one at three point thirty, so they'll be
- 7:38Speaker 1: streaming in the bar. So they're playing at Canterbury Development.
- 7:43Speaker 1: The Ladies first team they are away at Holcombe. There's
- 7:47Speaker 1: the Holcombe second team. Holcombe are really really strong hockey
- 7:50Speaker 1: side and so the first team are playing their second team.
- 7:55Speaker 1: The Ladies' second team they are away at Ashford at
- 7:58Speaker 1: ball Lane's thirteen they're away at Mardern Russet's. The Ladies
- 8:04Speaker 1: are fourteen. They're at home to burn Ash fourteen and
- 8:08Speaker 1: the Ladies fifteen they are a way to burn Ash
- 8:10Speaker 1: fifteen at Hurstmere School. And if you want to watch
- 8:14Speaker 1: a bit of a veterans hockey, the Ladies over thirty
- 8:16Speaker 1: fives they're playing the Ladies over thirty fives. That's on
- 8:20Speaker 1: Sunday and that's at one thirty. The pushback I always
- 8:27Speaker 1: think it's a kickoff. Everything's a kickoff, but no, in
- 8:29Speaker 1: hockey it's a pushback. Right, So we've got another trial,
- 8:33Speaker 1: another song. This is popped up on the playlist. Hang
- 8:35Speaker 1: on a second, just a little cough off earthing. Now
- 8:40Speaker 1: this one is another remix another what you call it?
- 8:46Speaker 1: I I can't think of the word anyway, it's not original.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It's a follow up. This is called Big Yellow Taxi. Now,
- 8:54Speaker 1: this is this track I think is a good track,
- 8:57Speaker 1: but I can't believe that this is an think could
- 9:00Speaker 1: be better than the original one by Joni Mitchell. This
- 9:03Speaker 1: has brought out in two thousand and two and it's
- 9:06Speaker 1: counting crows, Vanessa Colton and a big yellow taxi.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I put up a fucking.
- 9:25Speaker 1: With a pink.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I was barklay there from two thousand and six.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Now I posted a little picture on Facebook, you know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: a bit of a modest chap. Every week I post
- 9:45Speaker 1: a picture of myself and modest is there just to
- 9:49Speaker 1: let you know that with the sports show's going on,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and I've had a couple of likes, and I really
- 9:53Speaker 1: think I should acknowledge these people that have liked my photo.
- 9:57Speaker 1: So I want to say hello to Simon Jackson. Simon,
- 10:01Speaker 1: he's a colleague at nice work where I do a
- 10:04Speaker 1: little bit of stuff now and then at races and
- 10:06Speaker 1: he's also a referee and we always have a little
- 10:10Speaker 1: chat about the football, which is really interesting and it's
- 10:12Speaker 1: nice to hear where he's been refereeing.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Darren Paris is a great friend of mine.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He's the runner and he's out in Bali at the moment,
- 10:22Speaker 1: but he kin'd have much better things to do. He's
- 10:26Speaker 1: like my pictures. So hello to you, Darren. You're in
- 10:30Speaker 1: a lovely holiday. And I want to say hello to Irena.
- 10:33Speaker 1: She's my neighbor. She lives just next door to me,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and I was having a chat the other day and
- 10:39Speaker 1: found out she worked at Eurotunnel, which is where I
- 10:43Speaker 1: worked for many years. And it seems that we know
- 10:45Speaker 1: loads and loads of people, so we both know for
- 10:50Speaker 1: a chat and that. So it just occurred to me
- 10:52Speaker 1: that it's aboat time I said it hello to loads
- 10:55Speaker 1: of people who are working at euro Tunnel. Now, euro
- 10:59Speaker 1: Tunnel will never sleep, even Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I've spent many a Christmas Day.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Stuck there in MC four And now all this technology, technical.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Words and phrases won't mean.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Anything to a lot of people, but if you're a
- 11:16Speaker 1: euro ton of worker, I just want to say hello
- 11:18Speaker 1: and good morning.
- 11:19Speaker 2: And stay warm.
- 11:21Speaker 1: All those that are working in EMC four, EMC five,
- 11:24Speaker 1: the TCC, the platform teams, the chockers, the bus drivers,
- 11:28Speaker 1: the dispatchers who are keeping the wheels of industry going,
- 11:32Speaker 1: keeping those trains chugging through the tunnel, keep doing that
- 11:36Speaker 1: good job. And it soon be summer when it's a
- 11:39Speaker 1: bit warmer. So we're down to all the teams at
- 11:42Speaker 1: Eurotunnel right time for a bit of Yeah, we're going
- 11:46Speaker 1: for a bit of music. You've got plenty of sports
- 11:48Speaker 1: to do now, like this one. This is a Melanie See.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You remember her.
- 11:52Speaker 1: She was one of the Spice girls, and I think
- 11:54Speaker 1: she had a lovely voice, you know, And she went
- 11:55Speaker 1: out on her own and made a few songs and
- 11:57Speaker 1: this is called I Turned to you Melanie See all right,
- 12:16Speaker 1: old punchy song. That is.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Well.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I've been enjoying this Thursday lunchtime, as is me, Kevin Dailey,
- 12:23Speaker 1: the Sports Ferry here on Radio Folks on one O
- 12:26Speaker 1: five point nine.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I'm trying to.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Squeeze in some sport in between the music. So it's
- 12:30Speaker 1: about time we did a little bit of football. Let's
- 12:33Speaker 1: take a look at the local football scene. Well, as
- 12:35Speaker 1: we said earlier, the Weather was the winner focusing in
- 12:38Speaker 1: Victor's away game dulledge Hamlet was called off on the Friday,
- 12:41Speaker 1: so the pitch must have been pretty frozen solid. But
- 12:44Speaker 1: it was a good early call for the clubs and
- 12:46Speaker 1: the supporters, the Saddie and Victor. I hope to go
- 12:49Speaker 1: again with a home League of fixture against Canvy Island
- 12:52Speaker 1: who are currently sixteenth, whilst in Victor our tenth. Now
- 12:57Speaker 1: an early morning pitch inspection at Mersdam confirmed that Hive's
- 13:00Speaker 1: away game was postponed. This Saturday is a really tough
- 13:03Speaker 1: one against Margate who are sitting in third place in
- 13:06Speaker 1: the table and are looking to bounce back into the
- 13:09Speaker 1: Ishmian Premier Division. Meanwhile, I have a lot of work
- 13:12Speaker 1: to do in the second half of the season as
- 13:15Speaker 1: they're sitting second from bottom in the Ishmian Southeast Division.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So no football in the NRG Kent County Premier League.
- 13:23Speaker 1: As Hawkins Town's home game against Guru Nanak Romney New
- 13:28Speaker 1: Romney's away game at Stansfield, we're both called off due
- 13:31Speaker 1: to frozen pitches. Hawkins hope to go again on Saturday
- 13:34Speaker 1: our way up Bexley, but New Romney don't have a fixture.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Now I tried to attral the fixtures and I can
- 13:40Speaker 1: only work out I think the reason is that their
- 13:43Speaker 1: opponents Minster FC are involved.
- 13:45Speaker 2: In a cup game.
- 13:47Speaker 1: However, a bit of exciting news from the New Romney
- 13:49Speaker 1: camp is that on Saturday first of February at twelve
- 13:52Speaker 1: at one thirty, sorry as one thirteen, New Romney will
- 13:56Speaker 1: play in the Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield semi final against
- 14:00Speaker 1: some metro Gas at Folks and in Victor's Alkaline Stadium.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So a little bit more about that a bit nearer
- 14:06Speaker 1: the time. What have we got now? Oh? Yes, just
- 14:09Speaker 1: to tell you that the Folks in the Victor Women's
- 14:11Speaker 1: game against Mainstone Development Side, which that was due to
- 14:15Speaker 1: go ahead at the Alkaline Stadium last Sunday was another
- 14:18Speaker 1: victim of the weather. But they hoped to go again
- 14:21Speaker 1: this Sunday at two pm against Hollins and Blair in
- 14:25Speaker 1: the Kent Divisional Cup. So once again this is at
- 14:28Speaker 1: the Alkaline Stadium. So if you want something to do
- 14:31Speaker 1: on a Sunday afternoon, get down there and support them. Okay,
- 14:35Speaker 1: some rugby news now, well, last week Folks in Firse
- 14:38Speaker 1: fifteen had an eleven am pitch inspection and were given
- 14:41Speaker 1: the go ahead yes game on now. Their opponents were Sidcup,
- 14:46Speaker 1: who didn't have too far to travel span hour's journey
- 14:49Speaker 1: down the A twenty twenty. But the game wasn't without
- 14:52Speaker 1: a bit of controversy.
- 14:54Speaker 2: On arrival.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Sidcup were't particularly happy with the state of the first
- 14:57Speaker 1: team pitch and the game was switched to an unprepared
- 15:00Speaker 1: smaller pitch four Now this downing light actually a really
- 15:04Speaker 1: tough contest and it was nice to see a former
- 15:07Speaker 1: guest of the show, John Morton, lining up with in
- 15:10Speaker 1: the same team as his son Ryan as Ryan made
- 15:14Speaker 1: his debut in the scrum half position. Final score was
- 15:18Speaker 1: focused in nineteen points at Sidcup thirteen. This win take
- 15:22Speaker 1: Stones up to fourth place, a confidence boosting victory as
- 15:25Speaker 1: this Saturday they welcome top of the table Old al
- 15:28Speaker 1: Tamians to the Burlington Fields. The second fifteen also faced
- 15:33Speaker 1: the top of the table team on Saturday as they
- 15:36Speaker 1: travel away to Edinbridge. Their game last week away at
- 15:40Speaker 1: Dover was postponed. You guessed it frozen pitch and don't
- 15:44Speaker 1: forget the Rugby six Nations starts up soon as on Friday,
- 15:47Speaker 1: the thirty first of January, France are at home to
- 15:50Speaker 1: Wales as eight to fifteen kickoff. Then on Saturday two
- 15:54Speaker 1: games Scotland are at home to Italy two to fifteen kickoff,
- 15:58Speaker 1: and also on Saturday, Island are home to England quarter
- 16:02Speaker 1: to five kickoff, so there'll be no local rugby that weekend.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So I love the Six Nations, don't you. I mean
- 16:09Speaker 1: it is so exciting, and we've seen teams like Italy
- 16:12Speaker 1: just got so much better started beating two years ago
- 16:15Speaker 1: they were the whipping boys, but they are starting to
- 16:18Speaker 1: really compete with the big boys now, so I'm sure
- 16:21Speaker 1: we're in for a really, really good Six Nations competition. Okay,
- 16:25Speaker 1: time for some music now. This is from nineteen ninety
- 16:28Speaker 1: three and is hadaway What is Love? One?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Nine radio folks done? What is that baby? Don't hurt me?
- 16:39Speaker 2: Don't hurt me no more? Nineteen ninety three They're head
- 16:52Speaker 2: away What is Love? And we know that one for
- 16:55Speaker 2: a while?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Okay, moving on for some more sports divers and basketball news.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Now.
- 17:02Speaker 1: The Folks and Saints have become one of the biggest
- 17:04Speaker 1: growing clubs in the area over recent years. They are
- 17:07Speaker 1: constantly on the lookout for their own premises as finding
- 17:10Speaker 1: venue since the closure of the Sports center has made
- 17:13Speaker 1: life a really tough. I mean they do use the
- 17:15Speaker 1: three heels, but with all the teams that they have
- 17:18Speaker 1: under their belt, it really is a job to get
- 17:20Speaker 1: all the fixtures in.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Now. The weekend just gone.
- 17:23Speaker 1: The under fourteen boys beat Sussex Storm by sixty five
- 17:27Speaker 1: points to fifty three. The under sixteen boys lost seventy
- 17:32Speaker 1: three forty one also to Sussex Storm. An under eighteen's
- 17:37Speaker 1: men's game saw as seventy two to sixty victory over
- 17:41Speaker 1: Kent Panthers, and another under eighteen's men's game saw a
- 17:45Speaker 1: sixty five fifty seven victory against amid Sussex Chargers.
- 17:49Speaker 2: So not too bad there they go.
- 17:51Speaker 1: That was three out of four and it looks like
- 17:55Speaker 1: the Saints under fourteens will be going on tour once
- 17:57Speaker 1: again to Rumo in early and speaking to Stuart Hunt
- 18:02Speaker 1: from the club, but just before Christmas. You know, we're
- 18:05Speaker 1: hoping to get together right here in this studio so
- 18:08Speaker 1: we can bring us up to date with everything that's
- 18:10Speaker 1: going on at the club.
- 18:11Speaker 2: It is a massive club. Now we mustn't forget.
- 18:14Speaker 1: The sport of wheelchair basketball. The Folkston Arrows traveled away
- 18:18Speaker 1: to Guildford on Saturday the fourth of January and beat
- 18:21Speaker 1: Surrey eighty nine Ers in a very close game by
- 18:24Speaker 1: thirty six points to thirty three. On Saturday the twenty
- 18:28Speaker 1: fifth is the turn of the eighty nine Ers to
- 18:31Speaker 1: travel to the Academy in Folkston for the return fixture.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So the Arrows now have they used to be at
- 18:37Speaker 1: the Sports Center as well. They lost their venue, but
- 18:39Speaker 1: they play their home games as often as they can
- 18:42Speaker 1: at the Folkston Academy. The Arrows are currently undefeated after
- 18:47Speaker 1: four games, but lie in third place because the two
- 18:51Speaker 1: teams above them have both played more games. And I've
- 18:54Speaker 1: said this in the past. You know that the Folkston
- 18:56Speaker 1: Wheelchair Basketball League, the league that they're in three South,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I think it is. It's not a very big league.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I think it's seven teams, but they do have some traveling,
- 19:08Speaker 1: so they would welcome any support that you can give them.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Right time for a song now from nineteen ninety four
- 19:15Speaker 1: and I love the Pretenders and this is called I'll
- 19:18Speaker 1: Stand by You Alla Henderson there and a song called
- 19:37Speaker 1: dream on Me Now. Last weekend a lot of local
- 19:41Speaker 1: sport was absolutely obliterated by the weather, but they managed
- 19:46Speaker 1: to put on a lot of the i f A
- 19:49Speaker 1: Cup third round games over a period actually of four days,
- 19:55Speaker 1: so we're just going to do a quick recap on those.
- 20:00Speaker 1: It started on the Friday, actually Friday the tenth, when
- 20:02Speaker 1: Aston Villa beat west Ham two to one and we
- 20:05Speaker 1: can wonder us to be at Portsmouth two nil. Then
- 20:08Speaker 1: on Saturday it was loads of games. On Saturday saw
- 20:12Speaker 1: Chelsea beat Morecambe and Morecambe were in the English Football
- 20:17Speaker 1: League Division Two and there was their chance to a
- 20:20Speaker 1: lot of the teams we're going to talk about now.
- 20:22Speaker 1: It was their chance to shine on a premiership team stadium,
- 20:28Speaker 1: but unfortunately Morecambe lost at five nil. But they did
- 20:31Speaker 1: play in front of thirty nine thousand fans at Stamford
- 20:34Speaker 1: Bridge in the Championship. Well, a Championship team leed to
- 20:39Speaker 1: beat Harrogate from English Football League Division Two. Now this
- 20:43Speaker 1: was closed, This was just one goal to Neil. This
- 20:46Speaker 1: was at Ellen Road. Now these two teams are just
- 20:49Speaker 1: fifteen miles apart, so you know that must have been
- 20:52Speaker 1: a great, great atmosphere, especially for the Harrogate They might
- 20:56Speaker 1: have the odd friendly, I suppose at the start of
- 20:58Speaker 1: the season, but to play in front of thousands of
- 21:02Speaker 1: thousands of people. Ellen Road must be a lifetime achievement.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Premier League leaders of Liverpool beat Quinton Stanley from Division
- 21:12Speaker 1: two by four goals to nil. Listen to this in
- 21:16Speaker 1: front of sixty thousand fans at anfield. I think the
- 21:21Speaker 1: result might have been predictable, but for sixty thousand fans
- 21:24Speaker 1: to turn up at anfield, that shows you how much
- 21:27Speaker 1: they loved their football up there. But poor old Salford
- 21:32Speaker 1: they drew a neighbours Manchester City, and they were just
- 21:36Speaker 1: five miles apart, but they got walloped eight neil in
- 21:40Speaker 1: front of fifty two thousand fans. Now I did watch
- 21:43Speaker 1: that game and you could see the huge chasm of
- 21:46Speaker 1: difference in the football, you know, the split second passes
- 21:50Speaker 1: and the way that you know the Premier side controlled
- 21:55Speaker 1: the ball and lay it off.
- 21:57Speaker 2: But fair play to Salford.
- 21:59Speaker 1: They had their day and hope they enjoyed it in
- 22:02Speaker 1: front of fifty two thousand fans. On Sunday Newcastle beat
- 22:06Speaker 1: Bromley three to one in front of fifty two thousand fans.
- 22:10Speaker 1: But it sounds like they really had to work for
- 22:13Speaker 1: their victory. So well Doun too, you Bromley and Tamworth
- 22:16Speaker 1: will be cursing the FA. They held Tottenham to Neil
- 22:20Speaker 1: Neil draw after ninety minutes and in the past would
- 22:23Speaker 1: have this would have meant a replay at white Hart Lane,
- 22:25Speaker 1: but the rules were changed for this year and it
- 22:27Speaker 1: meant there had to be a result. Well, Tamworth lost
- 22:30Speaker 1: three Neil in extra time, but they earned the praises
- 22:33Speaker 1: and respect of footballers around the world, but missed out
- 22:37Speaker 1: on not only a big payday for the club but
- 22:40Speaker 1: once in a lifetime a chance for many of the
- 22:43Speaker 1: players to play in front of a massive crowd in
- 22:46Speaker 1: a Premiership stadium. And then on Monday I watched it
- 22:50Speaker 1: on the telly and it was a really good game.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Mill Will beat Dagenham Dagenham and Redbridge by three goals
- 22:56Speaker 1: to nil.
- 22:57Speaker 2: It was a good old fashioned third round Tye. You know.
- 22:59Speaker 1: It wasn't much quarter given and the referee did let
- 23:02Speaker 1: it flow, that's for sure. But sadly Dagenham and Redbridge
- 23:07Speaker 1: from the National League we're beaten. Okay, So I just
- 23:11Speaker 1: want to remind you that on Saturday, Adrian, we'll be back.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I think he for a sickie.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You know, I'm going to have a word with him
- 23:18Speaker 1: at his next appraisal, we'll find out what's going on.
- 23:21Speaker 1: He for a sickie and didn't turn up, but he
- 23:23Speaker 1: did tell me, to be fair, he had a note
- 23:25Speaker 1: from his mum.
- 23:27Speaker 2: But he's raring to go.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I spoke to him this morning. He's raring to go
- 23:31Speaker 1: back on Saturday. So tune in on Saturday. I'll be
- 23:35Speaker 1: co presenting the show with Adrian. That's between ten and
- 23:38Speaker 1: eleven on Saturday morning. In said, that's about it for
- 23:44Speaker 1: another week. Hopefully this week the weather will be a
- 23:48Speaker 1: bit kinder to us and there'd be more local sport
- 23:51Speaker 1: going on. So please, but once again, I can only
- 23:55Speaker 1: urge you please please check social media, phone the ground
- 24:00Speaker 1: up if you're thinking of traveling away, find out what's
- 24:03Speaker 1: going on. If there's a late inspection and you're on
- 24:06Speaker 1: the way and you turn up when the game is
- 24:08Speaker 1: called off, you won't be too happy, will you.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Right?
- 24:13Speaker 1: So I think for me, do you know what, I'm
- 24:16Speaker 1: gonna have another weekend off. I'm hoping to get loads
- 24:18Speaker 1: of guests in back in February. I'll set myself a
- 24:21Speaker 1: stall now to wait till i'm proberly better. I don't
- 24:24Speaker 1: want to give any of the guests, my germs and
- 24:27Speaker 1: so more guests back on in February.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Now, excuse me, I'm gonna have a cough now.
- 24:40Speaker 1: The sad news filtered through yesterday about the passing of
- 24:43Speaker 1: Linda Nolan. Okay, so it's not sport related, but I
- 24:48Speaker 1: mean this sad news will have touched the heart of
- 24:50Speaker 1: many sport related people, especially many of my colleagues at
- 24:54Speaker 1: Cancer Research UK. Linda Nolan was first diagnosed with breast
- 24:58Speaker 1: cancer back in two and five. She was given the
- 25:02Speaker 1: all clear in twenty eleven. Being the years that followed
- 25:05Speaker 1: her health suffered as she contracted various other forms of cancer.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Now.
- 25:11Speaker 1: She became famous along with her sisters in the mid
- 25:13Speaker 1: seventies as they shot to fame as the Nolans, and
- 25:17Speaker 1: you just can't ever forget seeing those lovely sisters dancing
- 25:21Speaker 1: around now. Linda made many acting appearances in the West End.
- 25:26Speaker 1: She took part in celebrity Big Brother and made many
- 25:29Speaker 1: appearances in Loose Women. Now, I would have loved to
- 25:33Speaker 1: have met her, though I never met her. She was
- 25:34Speaker 1: a long standing ambassador for breast cancer. Now, however, I
- 25:39Speaker 1: think that her and her sisters will be just best
- 25:43Speaker 1: remembered for that lady's floor filler.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I'm in the mood for dancing. You've got to get
- 25:49Speaker 2: up and have a little dance to this.
- 25:50Speaker 1: It's a sad occasion, but you know this is a
- 25:53Speaker 1: song that is her legacy and her and her sisters
- 25:58Speaker 1: we would love you to get out and dance to
- 25:59Speaker 1: the this well, So, without further ado to any show,
- 26:02Speaker 1: let's play this in memory of a very brave lady,
- 26:05Speaker 1: Rest in peace, Linda Nolan
