Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's im mediated podcast. All right, everybody, we're here for
- 0:11Speaker 1: a special, very special episode drop short and sweet, very concise.
- 0:16Speaker 1: You asked for it, and we're giving it to you.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It is the official and official Chettika episode, probably named
- 0:24Speaker 1: after Chester. Yeah, but there's something that I just learned about,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Like what chettike it actually means in Australia. I know
- 0:35Speaker 1: it sang in Australia. Is that where this is from?
- 0:40Speaker 1: I'm guessing you can tell because some of the word choice.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I say. We start by saying what our version of
- 0:45Speaker 1: cheike it is. First, just introduce that to the people.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Chetik it is outdoors etiquette as funneled through chet Chester's brain,
- 0:55Speaker 1: who is the nicest man on the nicest man in
- 1:00Speaker 1: the world. And not only that, but it sounds good
- 1:04Speaker 1: like if Yanni was into etiqutte, as we pointed out,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and you called it Yanna Kitt. No one's gonna care
- 1:08Speaker 1: about that. It sounds like a holiday, Yeah it does.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But chettick it sounds great, Ryan n Kitt because you
- 1:18Speaker 1: care about that clay a kit that's stupid. So it's
- 1:22Speaker 1: chettictt And then uh yeah, so so Chetika leads the thing.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We went out to the audience and got all their
- 1:28Speaker 1: conundrums and manners, a lot of them tons, moral quandaries,
- 1:33Speaker 1: moral quandaries that come from outdoor live and we're gonna
- 1:36Speaker 1: be giving advice and to help us here today we
- 1:42Speaker 1: have Clay Nukam, Mark Kenyon from Wired to Hunt, Hello Loo,
- 1:48Speaker 1: Ryan Old cal Callahan, and Chester the Investor is here
- 1:53Speaker 1: as well. Not only that, but we have Luke Combs
- 1:56Speaker 1: joining us. And I'll point out too that this special drop,
- 2:01Speaker 1: the special episode is sponsored by Columbia PFG. If you're
- 2:05Speaker 1: thinking yourself, tells that stands for It stands for Columbia
- 2:08Speaker 1: Performance Fishing Gear, proud protector of the skin on your
- 2:12Speaker 1: back and the waters you love. They are backers of
- 2:16Speaker 1: captains for clean water and they make a lot of
- 2:19Speaker 1: great stuff to help you stay out in the sunshine
- 2:21Speaker 1: without destroying your skin and then winding up being my
- 2:24Speaker 1: age and having uh you know, it helps to keep
- 2:27Speaker 1: dermatologists from needing to like whittle away little parts of you.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I have a great super terminal tackle vented hoodie. UM.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I used to run around in the sun all the
- 2:38Speaker 1: time in a T shirt or nothing, and I never
- 2:41Speaker 1: wore a hearing protection when I shot firearms, and those
- 2:44Speaker 1: are two things I'm trying to correct. It's too late,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but I'm trying. It's better late than never. It's true. Luke,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you where you're a black isn't it like a black
- 3:00Speaker 1: um fishing shirt? For like most of your concerts? Yeah,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I wear the yeah, like all of them. Literally, it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: kind of like the only thing I wear um performance. Uh,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you know, it's the Bahama two. The black Bahama two
- 3:13Speaker 1: is what I've been wearing. Yeah, like literally every show
- 3:17Speaker 1: for seven seven years. Probably kind of like a lucky Wow. Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 1: just have the one though. That's it's just this starting
- 3:26Speaker 1: to you know, after after thousands of shows, starting to
- 3:29Speaker 1: wear out a little bit. You know. Luke Holmbs has
- 3:32Speaker 1: a new album out. Tell us about that loop, Yeah,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I do, I do um. It's called Getting Old, which
- 3:39Speaker 1: I think is is fitting. Um, you know, I don't know.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I guess for me, it's just a bit of you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: everyone's like, man, you're thirty three, you're not getting old,
- 3:48Speaker 1: you know, And I was like, well, it's more of it.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I guess coming of age right would have been kind
- 3:54Speaker 1: of the thing. Right. So I've been married, you know
- 3:57Speaker 1: for I'm you know, coming up on three years an
- 3:59Speaker 1: album my wife for seven. Um, you know, we got
- 4:03Speaker 1: second kid on the way, I get first one at
- 4:06Speaker 1: the house, you know, and um, just I don't know,
- 4:08Speaker 1: life is, life is changing in a lot of ways,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and UM, I really want to you know, continue to
- 4:15Speaker 1: grow with with my fan base and and write songs
- 4:18Speaker 1: that I'm passionate about that I feel like speak to
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know, my life and where it is now and
- 4:23Speaker 1: and I think that probably correlates pretty strongly to um
- 4:27Speaker 1: where a lot of my fans lives are at as well.
- 4:29Speaker 1: And so I just want to always kind of you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: continue to be to be true to myself and you know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: as I as I keep putting music out, and um,
- 4:37Speaker 1: this album's kind of the first step in that direction
- 4:40Speaker 1: for me as someone who is legitimately getting old. Um,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'd like to point out that the character that the
- 4:47Speaker 1: getting old person, the character the representation of Luke still
- 4:51Speaker 1: has a little fight left in him. I mean, come on,
- 4:53Speaker 1: oh for sure, it's got a little get up and
- 4:56Speaker 1: go left in him. Was not quite as as it
- 4:59Speaker 1: once was. Absolutely, man, Absolutely it's more focused. What's the
- 5:04Speaker 1: what's the best song on the album, Luke? Your opinion?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Got one, just one. I think it's that one. Um,
- 5:12Speaker 1: if I could only pick one, I mean my favorite,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I don't know, probably maybe like Where the Wild Things Are?
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's great. I think, um back forty back for me
- 5:28Speaker 1: is up there. Um, guy, there's a bunch man. I
- 5:31Speaker 1: love him all dude. It's a hard question for me
- 5:33Speaker 1: when I listened, when I listened to the album and
- 5:36Speaker 1: its entirety. The first time I texted Luke and I was,
- 5:40Speaker 1: uh pleasantly surprised, surprised that he covers Tracy Chapman's fast Card. Yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: classic tune there and I thought, I thought was I
- 5:50Speaker 1: thought it was a good move, man, I like it
- 5:52Speaker 1: did Dan? Did Dan and Red help you with a
- 5:55Speaker 1: few of these are? Yeah? Yeah, Dan and Reid have
- 5:58Speaker 1: written I think Reid's two or three on here. I mean,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I know, I think Dan has like six. I think
- 6:06Speaker 1: I want to hear. So. Yeah, they helped me out
- 6:09Speaker 1: quite a bit for sure. If you look up. So
- 6:12Speaker 1: so Luke's gonna stick around, You're gonna help us out,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and that you're gonna help us out with the etiquette
- 6:16Speaker 1: take on it. I'll tell you the stories and then
- 6:19Speaker 1: you got to work up with what your suggestion is,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but but it was We wanted to point out Karin
- 6:24Speaker 1: typed in chattiket into the Urban dictionary. Mm hmm is
- 6:28Speaker 1: that what dictionary this is? Yeah, yeah, but it was
- 6:33Speaker 1: drafted in June sixteen, twenty twenty one, which means, uh,
- 6:39Speaker 1: we'd already come up with chatt kit by then, wouldn't
- 6:42Speaker 1: that be true? I think so, Yeah, it's been. That
- 6:48Speaker 1: would have been right around almost almost two years. So
- 6:52Speaker 1: the Australian thing is not that far off. It's chattikit um.
- 6:57Speaker 1: It's not a real word. Smith to put it together.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But that's bad chetket man or that's bad chetic it mate,
- 7:05Speaker 1: meaning to be a knob or a ceu next Tuesday.
- 7:09Speaker 1: In social situations, them being very free and easy with
- 7:14Speaker 1: that that particular expression in that part of the world. Uh, okay,
- 7:21Speaker 1: here's our first chat. Here's our first ethical conundrum. It
- 7:26Speaker 1: involves it's called your ex wife's new husband. You know
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's gonna be bad. Wow, Okay. Guy goes on, there's
- 7:39Speaker 1: a nice piece of family owned property. You're following, nice
- 7:44Speaker 1: piece of family owned property large enough for four to
- 7:46Speaker 1: five hunters max that has great deer and small game hunting.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But a limited amount of said game. During the divorce,
- 7:57Speaker 1: it's decided that the land will stay with the husband
- 8:02Speaker 1: so that the near adult kids can continue to use it,
- 8:05Speaker 1: with the clause that if the land ever gets sold,
- 8:10Speaker 1: then fifty percent of the profit goes to the ex wife. Subsequently,
- 8:17Speaker 1: the ex wife remarries and the new husband is a
- 8:21Speaker 1: public land hunter who's licking his chops at the chance
- 8:26Speaker 1: to hunt some new private land. So even though the
- 8:31Speaker 1: ex wife tells the new husband he can hunt the
- 8:34Speaker 1: property because it's half hers, does the etiquette question fall
- 8:38Speaker 1: on the ex husband to allow or not allow the
- 8:42Speaker 1: new husband to hunt the property? Or it does it
- 8:45Speaker 1: fall on the new husband? This becomes very loaded. Well,
- 8:50Speaker 1: it sounds like the question, well can we clarify something?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Question too? Can I finish? Go ahead? I finished the question,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I got the answer already, so yeah, I'm going to
- 9:05Speaker 1: finish the question. Yeah, because it's becomes very So far,
- 9:09Speaker 1: it's done a pretty good job, right, But then it
- 9:11Speaker 1: becomes loaded. Does the adiquatete question fall on the x
- 9:15Speaker 1: husband to allow or not allow the new husband to
- 9:17Speaker 1: hunt the property? Or doesn't fall on the new husband
- 9:20Speaker 1: to do the right thing and just stay off the
- 9:23Speaker 1: property a right answer, dude, I think legally, I mean,
- 9:30Speaker 1: first off, no shot this guy's getting on this there's
- 9:33Speaker 1: no shot. There's no scenario I'm letting this guy on
- 9:36Speaker 1: this place in any way, right, there's no shot. And legally,
- 9:41Speaker 1: as long as it doesn't get sold, it's it's the husband,
- 9:46Speaker 1: the ex husband's right. Legally, that's what they agree to. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: so I think the etiquette's not even in the question.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I think it's legal sense of like, yeah, I mean
- 9:56Speaker 1: there's a little bit of etiquette in there with the
- 10:01Speaker 1: the the husband who actually owns it. The first dude
- 10:06Speaker 1: in the picture, like being a nice guy, but still
- 10:10Speaker 1: he's he's dating. Is you don't need to be nice
- 10:13Speaker 1: to your ex wife's husband. No, No No, there's there's your
- 10:18Speaker 1: your your question that there's a dynamic that's much bigger
- 10:21Speaker 1: than we can speculate on. But let's say there's a
- 10:23Speaker 1: split and in the in the couple, the former couples
- 10:26Speaker 1: trying to be amiable and they're trying to I mean,
- 10:29Speaker 1: there would be a scenario. I don't think that's what
- 10:31Speaker 1: they're shooting for. It doesn't sound like we need, you know,
- 10:34Speaker 1: what we need with all these is a state we
- 10:37Speaker 1: need to know what state it is. I think it
- 10:38Speaker 1: would make a big difference. I'm going to speak to
- 10:40Speaker 1: the from my answer. I'm going to speak to the
- 10:42Speaker 1: X husband, and I'm gonna ask if if you're listening
- 10:44Speaker 1: out there and you're the and you're the X husband,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask this question. The answer to this question
- 10:51Speaker 1: is the answer to this conundrum. If you remarry and
- 10:58Speaker 1: your new wife okay says I'd sure like to go
- 11:02Speaker 1: out there hunting with you, Are you gonna say no?
- 11:09Speaker 1: That's the only thing that to me, that's it. If
- 11:11Speaker 1: he says, no way in hell, I'd let my new
- 11:13Speaker 1: wife hunt that place. It's for our new adult kids.
- 11:15Speaker 1: But did they fall If he's like, oh no, my
- 11:19Speaker 1: my new wife can hunt it, but my x wi's
- 11:22Speaker 1: new husband, no way, then that I think that's a
- 11:24Speaker 1: that's a that's a double standard. Yeah. But he owns
- 11:26Speaker 1: it though, right, it's his yeh, didn't he have more
- 11:29Speaker 1: share in it? It's not solely for the use of
- 11:32Speaker 1: the children. He owns it so that the children can
- 11:35Speaker 1: use it, right, that's what it sounded like. Yeah, so
- 11:37Speaker 1: the hunt it himself. Yeah, I gather he can hunt
- 11:43Speaker 1: it with the near adult kids. Let's let's put it
- 11:45Speaker 1: to vote. Cal where do you think about this? It's
- 11:49Speaker 1: not worth it, like, just not not worth it. Go
- 11:52Speaker 1: find someplace else to hunt. You're speaking to the new husband. Yeah, honestly,
- 11:56Speaker 1: the whole group. It's like it sounds so like it's
- 12:01Speaker 1: mentally it will be far easier and your successes will
- 12:04Speaker 1: be far greater if you do not step foot on
- 12:07Speaker 1: this place. Donate it to somebody, right, donate it to conservation. Yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 1: all right. To clarify, these aren't hypotheticals. These are real life. Okay,
- 12:21Speaker 1: these are real life situation. There's a there's a real
- 12:23Speaker 1: husband and ex husband dealing with this right now. No,
- 12:25Speaker 1: there's a whole show called Yellowstone that is dealing with
- 12:28Speaker 1: this right now. So is there an answer in there?
- 12:33Speaker 1: The answer I think like if you Okay, there's there's
- 12:37Speaker 1: two questions. Let's let's put this way. We need to
- 12:39Speaker 1: there's an answer for the new husband. My answer for
- 12:42Speaker 1: the new husband, um, my answer for the new husbands,
- 12:47Speaker 1: I wouldn't go there, agreed. No, My answer for the
- 12:49Speaker 1: ex husband is, if you would take again, if you
- 12:54Speaker 1: would allow your new wife to hunt it, you should
- 12:56Speaker 1: let her new husband hunt it. But I think you
- 12:58Speaker 1: do that with the assumption and going in there, but
- 13:00Speaker 1: he'll never take me up on it. I think you
- 13:02Speaker 1: would be like, Wow, the nice thing to do would
- 13:04Speaker 1: be like say yes, sure, But in the back of
- 13:05Speaker 1: your mind you're thinking, I'm sure he will realize I'm
- 13:08Speaker 1: just trying to be nice and he will back away
- 13:09Speaker 1: because of how awkward this whole situation would be. Well,
- 13:12Speaker 1: he is quote licking his chops. Man. Yeah, I mean
- 13:16Speaker 1: maybe they like each other, though, who knows? Do you
- 13:18Speaker 1: want anybody? I think this would be a way better show.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Kari should have all these people in the new husband
- 13:28Speaker 1: the old husband's friends sat. Okay, So let's Doug Duran
- 13:36Speaker 1: sharing the land. This okay. These folks set up a
- 13:40Speaker 1: share system based on the calendar year. They have their
- 13:43Speaker 1: primary shareholders, which are the near adult children adult kids, um,
- 13:49Speaker 1: which it's like, what's the syndrome where they stay in
- 13:52Speaker 1: the nest forever? I know, empty noess, Yeah, the failure
- 13:57Speaker 1: to launch. That's what we're dealing with here and away.
- 14:00Speaker 1: They're your primary shareholders. They agree on a certain amount
- 14:05Speaker 1: of equity let's say that can be purchased by putting
- 14:09Speaker 1: in sweat, you know, mitigating noxious weeds, taking down old
- 14:14Speaker 1: tree stands, maybe some controlled burning, something fun like that
- 14:20Speaker 1: that buys them shares in the remaining calendar year that
- 14:25Speaker 1: the primary share shareholder. Doesn't this sound like fun to everybody? Yeah? Yeah,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I mean you're like really assuming a lot of you know,
- 14:33Speaker 1: like that's right, it's like, oh for sure, but it's
- 14:37Speaker 1: to me, it'd be way easier than like, um oh boy,
- 14:42Speaker 1: I wonder what people will think of this. Oh, he
- 14:45Speaker 1: actually took me up on it. Oh do you think
- 14:49Speaker 1: it's right that he invited her out? I mean, turn
- 14:53Speaker 1: my back on the whole thing. Yeah, more I think
- 14:54Speaker 1: about it. I only have a message for the new husband.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Sounds like a nightmare for sure. My messag new husbands.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Do you just go the other direction? Man? Yeah, yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 1: here's one. Here's one. Won't take any time. It's interesting.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Oh wait, I'm sorry, I got it, new husband. Go
- 15:13Speaker 1: buy yourself a sweet Walley or bass boat like top
- 15:17Speaker 1: of the line, all the stuff. Make sure there's a
- 15:19Speaker 1: couple other seats that go completely unoccupied in it, and
- 15:24Speaker 1: just take lots of pictures of your Your day is
- 15:26Speaker 1: out on the water by yourself with empty seats around you. Yeah,
- 15:29Speaker 1: I like that when ice fishing and you see a
- 15:33Speaker 1: guy gal just slaying fish, I can picture this and
- 15:39Speaker 1: they pack up and leave. How long should you wait
- 15:43Speaker 1: before sliding into fish the hotspot? Zero zero zero? Yeah,
- 15:55Speaker 1: because somebody else's probably gonna be running right for it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I would do less than waiting to be over there.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh you guys are packing up? Are you all about
- 16:03Speaker 1: to leave them? Right? I mean you do understand that
- 16:07Speaker 1: you're exchanging a little bit of dignity. You're eating some
- 16:11Speaker 1: humble pie and exchange for the for fish for the
- 16:13Speaker 1: hot hole? Yeah, which is fine. You know I would
- 16:17Speaker 1: probably I would probably go over if I found myself
- 16:20Speaker 1: in this situation. I know, cal does this, Like you
- 16:23Speaker 1: just go up and talk to those fellows and you know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: you guys leave him and hop right in there. Yeah. Yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 1: that's why it's That's why I was like, that's why
- 16:33Speaker 1: I had kids, is if you have kids, even when
- 16:38Speaker 1: you see like when they're slaying, you might go up
- 16:41Speaker 1: and you can put it on and you'd be like, hey,
- 16:43Speaker 1: you know, my kid really love to catch you fish man.
- 16:47Speaker 1: If you guys or getting out of here, if you
- 16:49Speaker 1: wouldn't mind letting me know so I can help my kid,
- 16:52Speaker 1: catch a fish right right? You put all that on
- 16:54Speaker 1: a kid. Okay, here's the one called calling for fun.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Spring gobbler came in here in upstate South Carolina, April first.
- 17:07Speaker 1: For the last two weeks, every morning after I dropped
- 17:10Speaker 1: two of the three kids off at school, I take
- 17:13Speaker 1: the cut road home, where I know turkeys are often
- 17:17Speaker 1: in a vast crop field. His choice of words, vast
- 17:21Speaker 1: crop field. I'll pull over, put the windows down and
- 17:26Speaker 1: call to them for a while to see if I
- 17:27Speaker 1: can get them fired up. Totally understandable. Yesterday, signed Luke Combs.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'll pull over, put the windows down, get them firt up.
- 17:43Speaker 1: This is a large private egg field that, as far
- 17:46Speaker 1: as I can tell, has no interest in hunting these birds.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I think what he means, As far as you can tell,
- 17:51Speaker 1: no one's hunting the birds. The other day, when the
- 17:53Speaker 1: season came in, I pulled over to throw some calls
- 17:57Speaker 1: out when I noticed a truck on the other wooded
- 18:01Speaker 1: side of the road, which is a different property. Okay,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I figured it to be a hunter after some birds.
- 18:09Speaker 1: What would be the chetta kit with regards to me
- 18:13Speaker 1: calling for fun off a public road to birds out
- 18:16Speaker 1: in the field. When there is a hunter somewhere in
- 18:20Speaker 1: dem woods trying to bag one. Can can he hunt
- 18:23Speaker 1: that field? It sounds like simple? Then yes? Then then
- 18:31Speaker 1: I mean why mess with it? Why during the season?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Like yeah, I think I think before season you can
- 18:38Speaker 1: Luke combs it and you can do that. But when
- 18:41Speaker 1: season starts, you gotta back out. You can't be calling
- 18:43Speaker 1: on people other people's birds, just for specially when there's
- 18:46Speaker 1: a guy sitting out there. Yeah, especially you know he's
- 18:49Speaker 1: calling the same birds. It's not like there's you know,
- 18:53Speaker 1: he's trying to get the same birds to the spot
- 18:55Speaker 1: he's at and you're out there just on the way
- 18:57Speaker 1: to work, like sending in the other direction. Best case scenarios,
- 19:02Speaker 1: the birds come, there's nothing you can do anyways, Yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 1: you can't do anything. So why you know? Here's a
- 19:20Speaker 1: trickier one. I like this one better. It's called family
- 19:25Speaker 1: members mooching. This takes place near This guy says he's
- 19:30Speaker 1: not far from Bubbly Doug's farm in southwest Wisconsin, and
- 19:35Speaker 1: in fact, he has met Bubbly Doug. He says, my
- 19:39Speaker 1: family has owned a farm in southwest Wisconsin for over
- 19:42Speaker 1: one hundred years. People always like to us a comment
- 19:46Speaker 1: quick comment here. Um, I don't know that that matters,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but anyhow, there is a brushy dick means he's proud
- 19:55Speaker 1: of it. Steve, Oh, I know, I know what he's
- 19:58Speaker 1: getting at here. I know I where he's going with
- 20:00Speaker 1: us there. Um, there is a brush. I pay attention
- 20:06Speaker 1: here because this gets this gets counted, It starts, this
- 20:08Speaker 1: gets geographical. There's a brushy ditch that sets up nicely
- 20:13Speaker 1: for deer drives or mooches. Every year we seem to
- 20:18Speaker 1: push a nice buck out and have killed many out
- 20:20Speaker 1: of this small easy drive over the years, usually after
- 20:25Speaker 1: opening day, pressure pushes them into this ditch. A few
- 20:30Speaker 1: years ago, my dad sold a number of acres as
- 20:35Speaker 1: he's nearing retirement, and this ditch and pasture were part
- 20:40Speaker 1: of that sale. Here's where it gets complicated, folks. He
- 20:45Speaker 1: goes on to say this, and I'm quoting my uncle,
- 20:48Speaker 1: and then a parenthetical and neighbor was aware of the
- 20:53Speaker 1: sale and also well aware of this particular deer drive.
- 20:59Speaker 1: My intern repretation and Chester and I discuss this. My
- 21:02Speaker 1: interpretation is, even though the family has done this dear
- 21:06Speaker 1: drive historically, my interpretation is this uncle has not been
- 21:11Speaker 1: part of this deer drive. So even though he's saying,
- 21:15Speaker 1: my family does this deer drive on this brushy ditch,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I'm gathering here and analyzing it with Chester or he
- 21:23Speaker 1: was allowed to hunt it, and he just but we
- 21:27Speaker 1: gotta just go with one, dude, because it can't be both,
- 21:29Speaker 1: because it's way different. Yeah, so retract what you said,
- 21:34Speaker 1: take that back, apologize, we can. We can analyze that
- 21:39Speaker 1: down the roll. But like it gets because you know
- 21:41Speaker 1: what I mean. Yes, they're therein lies the therein is
- 21:46Speaker 1: the thing. Yeah, we'll tackle both. We'll tackle both, but
- 21:49Speaker 1: if you don't mind, I'd like for you to start
- 21:51Speaker 1: with it. Already sounds semi legal. Whatever we're getting it
- 21:55Speaker 1: already sounds shading. My uncle and neighbor was aware of
- 22:00Speaker 1: the sale and also well aware of this particular deer
- 22:03Speaker 1: drive we have done for the past few decades and
- 22:08Speaker 1: aware of its success the very first year after the sale,
- 22:17Speaker 1: not only that, the very first day of deer season,
- 22:23Speaker 1: so they historically waited untill later in the season. The uncle,
- 22:28Speaker 1: on the first day of the new year after the sale,
- 22:31Speaker 1: the first day of deer season after the sale, goes
- 22:34Speaker 1: to the new buyer and says, hey, can I do
- 22:36Speaker 1: a deer drive in the brushy draw we just sold
- 22:38Speaker 1: you sure, and doesn't bust in there and does the
- 22:44Speaker 1: drive and doesn't. Sounds like uncle might not be a
- 22:51Speaker 1: great hunter too. Sounds like yeah, or like in the family,
- 22:56Speaker 1: he says, Christmas has never been the same since that
- 23:00Speaker 1: fateful deer drive. I mean, at least invite the family.
- 23:07Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with him asking permission to go do it.
- 23:10Speaker 1: He kind of beat him to it, because he could
- 23:13Speaker 1: have been the hero of the family. Yeah, he could
- 23:15Speaker 1: could have been like, guess what, everybody, I got us
- 23:18Speaker 1: all permission to go do the That's a good point.
- 23:20Speaker 1: He could have been like, man, I know everybody's been
- 23:22Speaker 1: super bummed out since dad had to sell the place,
- 23:26Speaker 1: But I wouldn't talk to the guy and everybody. Guess what,
- 23:29Speaker 1: we could continue the deer drive, right, But it feels
- 23:33Speaker 1: like he may be taking vengeance out for like you're saying,
- 23:36Speaker 1: having never been a part of the deer drive. It's
- 23:38Speaker 1: what it now. It sounds like to me there's another
- 23:41Speaker 1: thing that could be See. You know, if these folks
- 23:43Speaker 1: are listening, um, Lauren Laramie Laramie's listening, you better not
- 23:50Speaker 1: be leaving out some details here. He has a shaky
- 23:53Speaker 1: uncle dave. You know, a guy who's super dangerous to
- 23:57Speaker 1: h Oh no day of that guy. Oh yeah, my
- 24:02Speaker 1: kids will come running home by how they got yelled
- 24:04Speaker 1: at by some old man I don't know where out
- 24:06Speaker 1: of the blue. I'm like, let's just hate kids. What happened? Whoa?
- 24:14Speaker 1: You know? We were in his yard with her bows
- 24:19Speaker 1: and practicing fire shot it over towards his house and
- 24:25Speaker 1: and uh bye and bye he yelled, get off of
- 24:28Speaker 1: his yard. Like okay, that makes you know, I think
- 24:31Speaker 1: your your point as well, taking their se because it's
- 24:34Speaker 1: real clear that the way the story's told and it's
- 24:36Speaker 1: been presented that this guy, it's like, yeah he was shady,
- 24:39Speaker 1: But if you had that guy in here, he might
- 24:41Speaker 1: be the same one of the bunch and say, you
- 24:44Speaker 1: know what I had, you know, I mean there's a
- 24:47Speaker 1: thousand different ways this could go, and you could you
- 24:50Speaker 1: could take a kind of a character assessment and he
- 24:52Speaker 1: might be like, you know what, those guys were outlaws
- 24:56Speaker 1: and they were killing more dear than they should and
- 24:58Speaker 1: they were doing this and we never liked that. We
- 25:01Speaker 1: always wanted to manage the land. I mean, he might
- 25:03Speaker 1: have a story it's possible. It's possible. Maybe the uncle's
- 25:05Speaker 1: an ultruist in that we haven't talked about how he's
- 25:08Speaker 1: where he's pushing this drive. Maybe he's going to drive
- 25:12Speaker 1: the deer back onto The kind of lingering question was like,
- 25:17Speaker 1: did he not even call anyone to say, hey, heads up, right?
- 25:23Speaker 1: Because sometimes you get permission and you're not even prepared
- 25:26Speaker 1: for permission, right, Like oh, I bumped into the person
- 25:31Speaker 1: at the post office and they said, hey, my family
- 25:35Speaker 1: comes out next week. If you want to hunt, you
- 25:37Speaker 1: can hunt tomorrow, but just you and just you right,
- 25:39Speaker 1: And you're like, good, right, that's true, that's true. Or
- 25:45Speaker 1: how about this, let's say the dad. Let's say the
- 25:49Speaker 1: uncle used to own that place, but the dad came
- 25:53Speaker 1: over his place and tripped and fell on the ice
- 25:56Speaker 1: and did a dirty lawsuit and one that land back
- 26:03Speaker 1: unfairly interesting. We don't We don't know anymore. And what
- 26:08Speaker 1: we got to see here, there's a lot of takes.
- 26:10Speaker 1: What we do, what we have to go by, complicated
- 26:15Speaker 1: by what we have to go by. Just that's it.
- 26:19Speaker 1: By the version that we have heard, um that the
- 26:23Speaker 1: uncles will blow hard. Does does Chester get a final
- 26:27Speaker 1: say on any of these given that this is Chettikett. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:31Speaker 1: we could do that. I would declare a winner. Yeah,
- 26:34Speaker 1: I'm just putting myself in old uncle's shoes. And uh,
- 26:37Speaker 1: I would definitely invite the family to do that, dear drive,
- 26:42Speaker 1: at least gave them heads up or explain my situation
- 26:45Speaker 1: and not just go out there and do it. Because
- 26:47Speaker 1: if it was like, oh, I'm the only one that
- 26:49Speaker 1: can do this, drive, but be ready because you guys
- 26:52Speaker 1: know where they're going to run, Like Mark was saying, um, yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 1: just let them know, communicate. It's really easy. But that's
- 27:03Speaker 1: great advice. Chester. But if you're the uncle, there also
- 27:05Speaker 1: begs the question you're the uncle for a minute, mhm,
- 27:10Speaker 1: why did you go ask permission to hunt the ditch?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Because because I really like deer hunting and that's okay.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Here here's a good one. This is one. This is
- 27:24Speaker 1: one of those I don't I honestly don't know the
- 27:26Speaker 1: answer to this, but I'm developing an opinion ready for
- 27:29Speaker 1: this right and again, what Jester will have the final say?
- 27:34Speaker 1: Checking other folks trail camps. I'm sure Marks anything Mark
- 27:39Speaker 1: knows about so situation we place trail camps on public
- 27:43Speaker 1: land as part of our scouting process. While doing this,
- 27:46Speaker 1: every once in a while we'll find another hunter's camera.
- 27:49Speaker 1: We usually hike around with a small laptop while placing ours.
- 27:52Speaker 1: So the question is ding ding? Would it be bad
- 27:56Speaker 1: etiquette to open the other guy or gals camera and
- 28:02Speaker 1: take a look at the card and then place it
- 28:04Speaker 1: back leaving no trace meaning it's on public land. Yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 1: so my take is that that is poor Chetti kid
- 28:18Speaker 1: in my opinion. Yeah, it might not lead to some
- 28:22Speaker 1: kind of negative outcome because it's still there, But how
- 28:24Speaker 1: many times for those who use cameras, have you turned
- 28:27Speaker 1: one on and off, took a card out, put it
- 28:29Speaker 1: back in and something goes wrong with the settings, Like
- 28:31Speaker 1: you're just risking some kind of issue, and it just
- 28:34Speaker 1: feels kind of dirty, like you're pulling up someone else's
- 28:37Speaker 1: hood and looking in just interfering with something that's not yours.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And who knows this person might have just stumbled upon
- 28:45Speaker 1: this trail camera and looks at the pictures and the
- 28:49Speaker 1: next thing you know, he's like holy cow, and he's
- 28:52Speaker 1: now in your hunting spot and you put all the
- 28:54Speaker 1: work in and put that camera out. Just I'd like
- 28:58Speaker 1: to ask the guy that rolled in I'd say this
- 29:00Speaker 1: to them. I'd be like, let's say you park your
- 29:02Speaker 1: truck on public land and you come back and there's
- 29:04Speaker 1: a guy kind of sitting in your truck going through everything. Yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 1: he's like, Oh, I'm gonna take anything, man, I'm gonna
- 29:10Speaker 1: taking anything. It's some public land, bro. I do ask
- 29:14Speaker 1: folks who are big into trailcams why they put the
- 29:18Speaker 1: trail cams out. I'm like, you know, it's a great
- 29:20Speaker 1: hunting spot, You've shot big deer there. Why would you
- 29:25Speaker 1: advertise to other people that you have an interest in
- 29:28Speaker 1: that spot? So they're probably not that far along yet.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I'm like, you're kind of running the risk of somebody
- 29:37Speaker 1: pulling up your hood. And take a look at what
- 29:40Speaker 1: I've done in a couple of situations with the trail cameras.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Is I've put I've written. I've got a picture on
- 29:45Speaker 1: my phone of writing with a black marker on a
- 29:48Speaker 1: trail camera on public land. You right on the camera.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I wrote my name and my phone number, and I said,
- 29:55Speaker 1: please don't steal I'll share the pictures with you if
- 29:58Speaker 1: you call me. I'll had a lot on it. Oh
- 30:02Speaker 1: your camera, I thought you were my camera on public
- 30:06Speaker 1: land in a locked box that they could have beat
- 30:09Speaker 1: off a tree and stolen or something. And I wrote
- 30:13Speaker 1: on there my phone number, and I said, if you
- 30:14Speaker 1: find this chill camera and you don't steal it, call me.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I'll share all the pictures. Have you ever gotten a
- 30:19Speaker 1: phone call? You never got a picture. I did have
- 30:22Speaker 1: somebody come up and check it, like I just saw
- 30:24Speaker 1: their legs and they and actually didn't have a lock
- 30:29Speaker 1: on the camera at the time. On the box. They
- 30:32Speaker 1: opened it up, took the camera out, and then put
- 30:35Speaker 1: it back, so I very well may have checked it.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I did the name and phone number on a camera
- 30:40Speaker 1: mine like a decade ago, and it did get stolen.
- 30:44Speaker 1: They stole it. They returned it to Cabella's to get
- 30:48Speaker 1: money for it, and then Cabella's after after taking that return,
- 30:51Speaker 1: looked on the back of the camera, saw the name
- 30:53Speaker 1: and number and called me and said, hey, I think
- 30:55Speaker 1: someone stole your camera and we have it here at
- 30:57Speaker 1: the store and I got it back. Yeah. Really, you
- 31:01Speaker 1: know that'd be a good way to double how many
- 31:03Speaker 1: cameras you got t tell your body return to camera.
- 31:11Speaker 1: So chaster was the final thing. Check him or don't
- 31:13Speaker 1: check him? Don't check him? Man it just feels dirty.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I like Clay's little thing, lock it and putting a
- 31:21Speaker 1: name on it. It's kind of like here I am.
- 31:25Speaker 1: You know, it's very similar to that. If you find
- 31:28Speaker 1: somebody else's tree stand on public land, you go sit it,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and I feel the same way about it. I'm not
- 31:32Speaker 1: gonna touch it if it's a permanent Yeah, it's like
- 31:35Speaker 1: in the old days when you used to just nail
- 31:36Speaker 1: them up there out of wood. I think that's that's
- 31:38Speaker 1: just that's that becomes part of the tree in my bo.
- 31:41Speaker 1: But I mean if someone puts a hang on and
- 31:43Speaker 1: climbing sticks. I know some people go and sit in
- 31:46Speaker 1: somebody else's stand, but I feels the same way to me.
- 31:49Speaker 1: What's your view on leaving tree stands? I would public land,
- 31:54Speaker 1: I would say, not having like a moral take on him,
- 31:57Speaker 1: but just it doesn't seem practical to me because you're
- 31:59Speaker 1: risking people coming in taking it or doing what call
- 32:02Speaker 1: just mentioned, like seeing your spot and being like, oh
- 32:04Speaker 1: someone else thought this is good. Yeah, more an etiquette
- 32:07Speaker 1: on leaving the camera. But I also want people. I
- 32:11Speaker 1: want people to understand it's like by putting that out there,
- 32:15Speaker 1: you you have already given them something Mark. One of
- 32:20Speaker 1: the best ones that Ease we ever got was a
- 32:23Speaker 1: guy who was in sort of a tree stand duel
- 32:26Speaker 1: with someone where they each had climbers latched onto a tree,
- 32:32Speaker 1: and they were he was practicing a certain sort of
- 32:35Speaker 1: etiquette where he would always attach his down below the
- 32:39Speaker 1: same tree. Yeah, so if he hunted the tree, he
- 32:42Speaker 1: would move his stand down below as a courtesy so
- 32:47Speaker 1: that the other guy would be able to climb and
- 32:49Speaker 1: not have to undo his like a climber, and the
- 32:51Speaker 1: guy wouldn't return the courtesy. And how they were supposed
- 32:56Speaker 1: to sort that out? So many of these have to do.
- 32:58Speaker 1: What's amazing. There's one guy says, dear Chat, I would
- 33:03Speaker 1: like your opinion. The subject is when you're hunting, buddy
- 33:07Speaker 1: never invites you hunting it no more do not? We
- 33:15Speaker 1: do not, So, dear Chat, I would like your opinion
- 33:20Speaker 1: on a quandary I have with a hunting buddy. A
- 33:23Speaker 1: while ago we started upland bird hunting together. Neither of
- 33:27Speaker 1: us had a dog, so that first season was pretty tough.
- 33:30Speaker 1: By the following season I had a bird dog and
- 33:35Speaker 1: we started to do much better. About that time, he
- 33:39Speaker 1: started waterfoul hunting. My issue is that he always asked
- 33:46Speaker 1: to go hunting with me and my dog, and I've
- 33:49Speaker 1: even been nice enough to change my plans to make
- 33:53Speaker 1: it easier for him to come. However, he has never
- 33:58Speaker 1: once invited me to go waterfowl hunting with him, And
- 34:02Speaker 1: this is sticking in my craw. He isn't shady about going.
- 34:07Speaker 1: He'll send me pictures of the ducks he kills. I've
- 34:11Speaker 1: dropped hints that I'd like to go, but still no invite.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I was raised to believe it's bad manners to invite
- 34:17Speaker 1: yourself along. It's been ten years. You don't have a
- 34:23Speaker 1: hunting buddy, you have a hunting parasite. Yeah. Yeah, what
- 34:27Speaker 1: if he doesn't have like, what if he's not like,
- 34:29Speaker 1: obviously he's leeching off this dude's dog, So you think
- 34:32Speaker 1: he's not just leeching off the duck dudes or whatever?
- 34:35Speaker 1: Is he going to hunt on his own if he's hunting,
- 34:38Speaker 1: if he's hunting with somebody else, they might be like, well,
- 34:41Speaker 1: don't invite anybody else. Oh that's all I mean, that
- 34:49Speaker 1: goes beyond what we know. So the person writing in now,
- 34:53Speaker 1: you suckers who've written in here, um, you gotta understand
- 34:59Speaker 1: if you think you're gonna to be emboldened here, you
- 35:03Speaker 1: gotta understand that we're going off. But you told us
- 35:05Speaker 1: and if you're leaving out important details and you gotta
- 35:08Speaker 1: live with it. But Luke, ten years, they've had ten
- 35:13Speaker 1: years morning truck rides together, late night truck rides home.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Like you can't bridge the gap on Like, so, tell
- 35:25Speaker 1: me about your duck hunting situation. Yeah, like what's going on?
- 35:31Speaker 1: Like that's true, man, maybe just asked man, you know
- 35:34Speaker 1: what I mean, there's don't ask to go and there
- 35:36Speaker 1: there's there's also trades in hunting that aren't fair. It's
- 35:39Speaker 1: like if somebody's like, hey, Clay comes squirrel hunting with me,
- 35:42Speaker 1: and I go squirrel hunting with them and kill like
- 35:45Speaker 1: four squirrels and they're like, hey, now you owe me
- 35:47Speaker 1: a bear hunt, and it's like sure, I mean, there's
- 35:52Speaker 1: definitely some stuff in here that is probably left out,
- 35:57Speaker 1: you know, but we only got it. We can only
- 35:59Speaker 1: go But like, I know, but I just can help
- 36:02Speaker 1: myself to think, like we got to assume. We got
- 36:06Speaker 1: to assume that the person on the other end of
- 36:10Speaker 1: the story isn't hearing the answer. M okay. So we're
- 36:16Speaker 1: we're talking to the person that wrote in and if
- 36:18Speaker 1: they have missed key pieces of stuff that's on them. Yeah,
- 36:22Speaker 1: because unlike you know, like a trial, right, everybody comes
- 36:26Speaker 1: in and you get to fish it all out. But
- 36:28Speaker 1: here it's just that's what you got to go by.
- 36:30Speaker 1: But ten years, I mean ten years is a lot
- 36:33Speaker 1: of people in my life that we you know, started
- 36:38Speaker 1: in a very similar fashion of like, hey, have you
- 36:42Speaker 1: tried this spot? Have you tried that spot? And this
- 36:46Speaker 1: kind of scenario has played out where it's like I'm
- 36:48Speaker 1: happy to lend gear, I'm happy to point people in
- 36:51Speaker 1: the right direction. I'm happy to have you along. But eventually,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I would say like four or five seasons max. If
- 37:00Speaker 1: none of those favors are they don't need to be returned,
- 37:03Speaker 1: but they absolutely need to be offered. Yeah, they have
- 37:07Speaker 1: to be offered. If that doesn't happen, then it's like
- 37:09Speaker 1: you gotta Yeah. One lesson I've picked up as I've
- 37:14Speaker 1: gotten older. I think when you're young, like a high
- 37:16Speaker 1: school whatever, you're, you and your bodies, you share a
- 37:21Speaker 1: lot of gripes, right, I mean that's the age when
- 37:24Speaker 1: you like actually getting fights with your buddies, like you
- 37:26Speaker 1: get like, it's not uncommon to get like in a
- 37:28Speaker 1: physical fight with your your friend right at that age.
- 37:32Speaker 1: And I think you enter into a long time of
- 37:34Speaker 1: just out of respect or not wanting to make waves,
- 37:37Speaker 1: you leave a lot unsaid. Um, but I don't I
- 37:43Speaker 1: think there would be a way for this guy, like
- 37:44Speaker 1: you said in the ten in the ten years, for
- 37:46Speaker 1: this guy to say, Man, I there's been something on
- 37:49Speaker 1: my mind. Um, I just gotta ask you, Uh, how
- 37:59Speaker 1: can we don't hunt talks again? Yeah? You remember nine
- 38:04Speaker 1: years ago? Yeah? Yeah, I felt like it's I feel
- 38:08Speaker 1: like after ten years, man, you gotta be able to
- 38:10Speaker 1: ask you know what I mean? Like, you get like
- 38:12Speaker 1: you should definitely feel confident in asking this dude what
- 38:15Speaker 1: what the deal is? Yeah, it's the worst you're gonna
- 38:17Speaker 1: lose is you're gonna lose the guy that won't take you.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I'm never gonna take you. Duck. On all these I
- 38:24Speaker 1: find myself kind of rooting for the underdog a little
- 38:27Speaker 1: bit because I think that there's a reason for this.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I would think, I mean, maybe the guy goes man,
- 38:34Speaker 1: I'm a member of a duck club that costs me,
- 38:37Speaker 1: you know, fifteenth grand a year, and I can't take
- 38:40Speaker 1: people like there's gotta be But I think he would
- 38:42Speaker 1: have included that, yeah, does he split gas with you?
- 38:47Speaker 1: Like that's I mean, there's there's some character things here
- 38:51Speaker 1: that we just can't get into, you know. I just
- 38:53Speaker 1: I just wrote an article, first article that I wrote
- 38:56Speaker 1: for the me Eater website, and it was like how
- 38:58Speaker 1: to be a good fishing partner. And there's like a
- 39:01Speaker 1: lot of little things in there, you know, And if
- 39:03Speaker 1: people stop doing that stuff, you're just not gonna get
- 39:06Speaker 1: invited invited back. But I mean, in this particular case,
- 39:10Speaker 1: I think the guy should Maybe I don't think they're
- 39:13Speaker 1: actually that great of friends. Um maybe I don't know.
- 39:18Speaker 1: If there's not able to communicate and if he's not
- 39:21Speaker 1: getting invited, I don't know, maybe maybe consider trying to
- 39:24Speaker 1: find a new duck hunting partner. Oh, Luke, you know,
- 39:28Speaker 1: I keep forgetting to tell you that you ought to
- 39:30Speaker 1: have floating around the back of your head Chester here. Uh,
- 39:35Speaker 1: he's opening up form Trampled by Turtles again, and and
- 39:39Speaker 1: and the show that he's opening for instantly sold out.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Not instantly, that's a little minch. I think it's because
- 39:52Speaker 1: Bozeman's shows sell out quick not because of me, particularly,
- 39:56Speaker 1: don't don't include all those details. Chester Luca instantly sold out.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I love it. What's the biggest place you could play?
- 40:02Speaker 1: And I think that was the place Dallas Cowboy Stadium. Yeah,
- 40:07Speaker 1: ms okay, ramp Chettako, that's the name of this question.
- 40:24Speaker 1: A buddy mine, this is a good one. I know
- 40:26Speaker 1: the answer, but this is a good one. A buddy
- 40:29Speaker 1: of mine is a big time duck hunter. Doesn't matter.
- 40:32Speaker 1: It doesn't matter how big time yas buddy mine is
- 40:34Speaker 1: a big time duck hunter. We work overnight on the weekends.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I can't tell if that matters. About a month or
- 40:41Speaker 1: so ago, whenever, the last day of duck season was
- 40:44Speaker 1: for him. He left work early at three a m.
- 40:49Speaker 1: So he could go duck hunting. He hunts out of
- 40:52Speaker 1: a kayak that he's strapped to the roof of his car.
- 40:56Speaker 1: He got to the boat launch and there was a
- 40:58Speaker 1: huge line of guy with real boats on trailers waiting
- 41:02Speaker 1: to launch. Instead of waiting in the line and having
- 41:07Speaker 1: to paddle out after all these guys with engines, he
- 41:11Speaker 1: pulled off on the side of the public road, then
- 41:14Speaker 1: carried his kayak in gear a half mile to the ramp.
- 41:19Speaker 1: His whole walk down there, guys were honking and messing
- 41:22Speaker 1: with him. But I don't think he was in the wrong.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Was he in the wrong to pull off and skip
- 41:30Speaker 1: the line again? If there's no if there's no other
- 41:33Speaker 1: stuff left out, this guy is absolutely not in the wrong. Man.
- 41:37Speaker 1: He carried his kayak a half mile parked out of
- 41:40Speaker 1: the way. I have to say, as long as it
- 41:43Speaker 1: doesn't interfere with the loading and unloading or boats at
- 41:46Speaker 1: the ramp, yeah, absolutely, which it sounds like the system,
- 41:49Speaker 1: it wouldn't. It's like, if he walks down that line
- 41:52Speaker 1: and sticks his thing off the side, it's none of
- 41:54Speaker 1: your business, right picture the string? Picture he's hunting on foot?
- 41:58Speaker 1: Should he just stand there slowly walk up? Or he's swimming?
- 42:03Speaker 1: Should I read it? A guy just in our parking
- 42:06Speaker 1: lot there, there's a guy in a bike. There's a
- 42:08Speaker 1: whole line of cars waiting to leave the parking lot here.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I don't know what was going on the whole line
- 42:13Speaker 1: of cars and this guy in the line on a bike.
- 42:17Speaker 1: I get out of my truck and he's like, what
- 42:21Speaker 1: this world needs is more cars, and uh, you know,
- 42:26Speaker 1: I engaged with him. I engaged with him. But what
- 42:29Speaker 1: you say, Well, I said everything about what I wanted
- 42:31Speaker 1: to say, which is, why are you waiting in line
- 42:34Speaker 1: with all the cars? Why are you pretending you're in
- 42:36Speaker 1: a car. You're at a bike and enjoy it's freedom,
- 42:40Speaker 1: like going to in their section and leave, Like, why
- 42:42Speaker 1: are you standing in line behind six cars? Yeah? The
- 42:48Speaker 1: bike is like always the first guy at the d
- 42:50Speaker 1: I feel like I wouldn't be here talking to me.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I'd be so far down the road by now because
- 42:55Speaker 1: I'm going out and ridden down the sidewalk past everybody
- 42:57Speaker 1: up and one of them and yeah Bozeman, Montana. Yeah Yeah.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I was like, your problem is you think you're in
- 43:05Speaker 1: a car, but you're so boat ramp at it. As
- 43:09Speaker 1: long as you are not slowing down somebody else's day,
- 43:13Speaker 1: it sounds to me like you made everybody's day faster.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Good jobs. Yeah, anything to say on that one. I
- 43:22Speaker 1: agree completely with what I think everyone else agrees with. Here,
- 43:26Speaker 1: let me guy for the win. I'm gonna ask you
- 43:28Speaker 1: just one Chester and you know it's a minor and
- 43:31Speaker 1: the only one that can reply. A guy's got a
- 43:34Speaker 1: big case of the ass about people that you're back
- 43:38Speaker 1: in your boat down a ramp and you leave your
- 43:40Speaker 1: headlights on, so the other dudes trying to use the
- 43:44Speaker 1: lamp ramp are blinded by your headlights. He's like, do
- 43:48Speaker 1: you think to turn your lights off? Um? Well, so
- 43:54Speaker 1: what do you talk Is it like a double ramp. Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 1: it's a double ramp. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I think
- 44:01Speaker 1: you could turn turn your lights off. But it is
- 44:04Speaker 1: nice to have, um, like some backup lights on so
- 44:08Speaker 1: you can actually see on the sides of the ramps.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Sometimes your trailer lights aren't enough, you know what I mean.
- 44:13Speaker 1: When you flip your actual lights on, it like lights
- 44:17Speaker 1: it up a little better out there. You would have
- 44:18Speaker 1: never occurred to me to shut them off. I think
- 44:21Speaker 1: they're just talking about busier boat ramps than than what
- 44:24Speaker 1: I've been dealing with. I mean, when I read this one,
- 44:27Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, that that makes total sense.
- 44:29Speaker 1: That's that's great because I I've had some some issues
- 44:33Speaker 1: and non boat ramp scenarios with people leaving their high
- 44:36Speaker 1: beams on or just like those new fancy, you know,
- 44:40Speaker 1: modern headlights that people run that are seemed to be
- 44:44Speaker 1: shockingly bright. But yeah, I'm trying to remember like at
- 44:48Speaker 1: these at these tournaments when it's a double ramp if
- 44:51Speaker 1: I if I shut my lights off or not, and
- 44:54Speaker 1: I don't think I do. I mean you do it?
- 44:56Speaker 1: Are you getting in before daylight? Does up? Do other
- 45:00Speaker 1: people's lights bother you? I mean that seems like the
- 45:02Speaker 1: thing that you would be not noticing. I mean not
- 45:05Speaker 1: any more than like just driving a car down the road,
- 45:08Speaker 1: because I've backed up boats so much that it's like,
- 45:13Speaker 1: I don't know, dude, I say, get over it. If
- 45:17Speaker 1: you're mad about somebody's headlights being in your eyes for
- 45:21Speaker 1: like thirty seconds, dude, maybe you're not tough enough to
- 45:25Speaker 1: back a boat down a public I mean, she's so sensitive.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I think, dude, that's that's a little too much for me.
- 45:37Speaker 1: I don't buy it. I don't buy that one. Okay.
- 45:41Speaker 1: This one's called land borders and tree stands. This is
- 45:45Speaker 1: the like of the etiquette questions that we've gotten. I
- 45:49Speaker 1: would say, what percent have to do with something to
- 45:51Speaker 1: do with tree stands? A decent amount? Yeah, it seems
- 45:55Speaker 1: like fifty. I've hunted a certain sixty acre piece of
- 46:00Speaker 1: agriculture woods ground for whitetail deer in western New York
- 46:03Speaker 1: for five years now. It doesn't matter. I have no
- 46:07Speaker 1: that's good five years whatever. It's not like for eighteen generations.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I have sole permission from the owner. Points out that
- 46:18Speaker 1: it's his girlfriend's grandparents. I wonder if that causes him
- 46:22Speaker 1: to stay with that girlfriend. Depends how good of a
- 46:26Speaker 1: property and it's not act no, you're like, He was like,
- 46:31Speaker 1: I don't know, man, soon I feel like breaking up
- 46:32Speaker 1: my girlfriend. And he's on the fence. How many Boone
- 46:36Speaker 1: and Crocketts are coming out of Western New York ag
- 46:39Speaker 1: Land though, like like a bunch, you know, it just
- 46:44Speaker 1: might be best. He's gotta work with it. Boone felt
- 46:47Speaker 1: when he went into Kentucky that first time. He's like, man,
- 46:50Speaker 1: it's good hunting, but it's pretty sketchy. I have soule
- 46:53Speaker 1: permission from the owner. Nobody got there, No, I got it.
- 46:56Speaker 1: It was good. Okay, okay, I have soule permission from
- 46:59Speaker 1: the owner friends grandparents, and have had to kick the
- 47:02Speaker 1: neighbors to the east of the property off as well
- 47:07Speaker 1: as asked them to remove their stands and cameras multiple times.
- 47:13Speaker 1: There's one stand in particular that I'd like your opinion on.
- 47:17Speaker 1: There is a cattle fence on sad to east side
- 47:20Speaker 1: of the property. That divides landownership. This tree stand is
- 47:26Speaker 1: a ladder stand, and the bottom of the ladder is
- 47:29Speaker 1: The bottom of the ladder is on their side of
- 47:37Speaker 1: the fence. But the tree they dude, I hate, the
- 47:43Speaker 1: bottom of the ladders on their side of the fence,
- 47:44Speaker 1: but the tree they use is on my side of
- 47:47Speaker 1: the fence. I've never asked them about moving it because
- 47:50Speaker 1: at the end of the day, they don't kill any
- 47:52Speaker 1: deer in that spot around that property in general, because
- 47:55Speaker 1: they're not good hunters. Should I be concerned that one
- 47:59Speaker 1: day they will kill a big one out of that
- 48:01Speaker 1: tree stand? So should I just ask them to move it? Now?
- 48:06Speaker 1: Cut the tree down with them in it too. It's
- 48:12Speaker 1: a your tree, it's your girlfriend's grandparents tree. Cut it down,
- 48:16Speaker 1: game over. Don't even have to worry about it. Cheika,
- 48:21Speaker 1: we've selected that tree for firewood. Diseased obviously. Yeah. Yeah,
- 48:31Speaker 1: there's a whole thing like we've had. There's other ones
- 48:33Speaker 1: that we didn't do that we just kind of skimmed by.
- 48:36Speaker 1: There is like in human psychology, I don't care how
- 48:40Speaker 1: many acres you give somebody. If there's a property boundary,
- 48:44Speaker 1: yeah there, you're gonna put a stand on that line
- 48:47Speaker 1: is always greater because you're like, they gotta have a
- 48:51Speaker 1: lot of deer on the neighbor's place. Yeah, I'd like, Yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 1: I'd like to hear Mark's take on this is just
- 48:59Speaker 1: prop I I hate these ones, Like I said, property
- 49:02Speaker 1: boundary tree stands, and I got my I got to
- 49:04Speaker 1: give my two cents. Yeah, my two cents is they're
- 49:07Speaker 1: they're the neighbors. You You're in the right on a
- 49:11Speaker 1: lot of it. But you got to sort of be
- 49:12Speaker 1: like how far do I really push this? Meaning if
- 49:16Speaker 1: all my ass have been reasonable and they've gone along
- 49:20Speaker 1: with it, do I need to now come to them
- 49:23Speaker 1: with a thing where they're gonna be like, oh what'll
- 49:26Speaker 1: what'll he? You know what I mean? Like, do you
- 49:28Speaker 1: really need to like just push it and push it
- 49:31Speaker 1: and push it to a point where you invite uh conflict?
- 49:37Speaker 1: And this guy, let's in a beautiful spot because it's
- 49:40Speaker 1: not even they're not his neighbors, so what's he care?
- 49:43Speaker 1: It's his girlfriend's grandparents neighbors. So like I guess if
- 49:46Speaker 1: he does force the issue, I don't know, it's weird
- 49:49Speaker 1: to me, Like if your stand is ultimately in my tree,
- 49:53Speaker 1: but I've been given permission to hunt a bunch of places.
- 49:57Speaker 1: I have never been given permission to run off the neighbors, right,
- 50:04Speaker 1: I'm like, so, are you getting sole permission to hunt?
- 50:07Speaker 1: Or are you getting sole permission to hunt and manage
- 50:10Speaker 1: the land as an you know, as a legal representative
- 50:16Speaker 1: of the land. They wouldn't soule permission to hunt it
- 50:19Speaker 1: give you the right to push off people that were
- 50:21Speaker 1: illegally hunting it without permission. I would see definitely have
- 50:25Speaker 1: the talk with the girlfriends folks in order to yeah
- 50:30Speaker 1: and yeah, I mean I'd be like, hey, other folks
- 50:33Speaker 1: are hunting. This is that okay with you? Did somebody
- 50:37Speaker 1: given permission down the line? What's going on here? Right? Like?
- 50:42Speaker 1: But are you really gonna I mean, yeah, the neighbors,
- 50:47Speaker 1: the neighbors are in the wrong. But I think to
- 50:49Speaker 1: Steve's point, like, is it worth fighting this any further?
- 50:53Speaker 1: And what are you possibly gonna lose? Like you're possibly
- 50:55Speaker 1: going to get this? You know they can move three
- 50:57Speaker 1: feet over and yeah, right for but is it gonna
- 51:01Speaker 1: be worth whatever bridge you're going to further burn? Yeah,
- 51:04Speaker 1: we don't. We don't mind our neighbors back in Wisconsin
- 51:07Speaker 1: hunting the property lines because our property is managed much
- 51:13Speaker 1: more for deer and everything. And if anything, it they're
- 51:17Speaker 1: they're not spared about getting to their stands. If anything,
- 51:21Speaker 1: what it does is help us out because it pushes
- 51:24Speaker 1: deer to the middle. It pushes deer and it keeps
- 51:28Speaker 1: them kind of in. It's almost like a fence in
- 51:31Speaker 1: a way. I guess here's here's a permission quick permission story.
- 51:35Speaker 1: We got permission and have had permission on a on
- 51:40Speaker 1: a little pond to duck hunt forever. Um. We went
- 51:44Speaker 1: in there to duck hunt. The actual landowner got a
- 51:47Speaker 1: call from the neighboring property accusing us of doing all
- 51:52Speaker 1: sorts of Uh. You know, everybody thinks they're the center
- 51:57Speaker 1: of the universe, right, So if you're hunting ducks on
- 51:59Speaker 1: one property, of course they're manifesting ways that what your
- 52:02Speaker 1: actions are doing are harming them in some way. Right.
- 52:05Speaker 1: So there was that call to land and he's like,
- 52:11Speaker 1: I don't I hate dealing with those guys. They're always
- 52:15Speaker 1: rude blah blah blah blah blah, and and and he
- 52:19Speaker 1: allows them to hunt the same pond on occasion as well.
- 52:24Speaker 1: And I said, well, why don't you let us take
- 52:30Speaker 1: take care of it, you know, we can go have
- 52:31Speaker 1: that talk with him or whatever. And he's like, well,
- 52:36Speaker 1: I get to run cattle on this chunk of ground
- 52:41Speaker 1: in between my other two properties that they own, right,
- 52:45Speaker 1: And it's just kind of a thing. So i'd it's
- 52:50Speaker 1: worth it to him to put up with the weird
- 52:53Speaker 1: hunting stuff on occasion because it makes life so much
- 52:56Speaker 1: easier on the actual agriculture part of the conversation, right,
- 53:01Speaker 1: the neighborly agreement type of things. And so that's why
- 53:05Speaker 1: I do think of like, Okay, you got permission to hunt,
- 53:08Speaker 1: but that's not necessarily permission to manage the property as
- 53:13Speaker 1: a whole, because there could be the neighbors could very
- 53:17Speaker 1: well be under the impression that, oh yeah, we never
- 53:21Speaker 1: asked for permission to hunt, but we give the parents
- 53:28Speaker 1: all these liberties on our place, and it's just kind
- 53:31Speaker 1: of a known thing, even though they've never had the conversation. Right.
- 53:35Speaker 1: So that's why I'm like t talk with folks and
- 53:39Speaker 1: no specifically that you are able to say, hey, hunting season,
- 53:44Speaker 1: you guys can't be on here. Yeah, if this letter
- 53:46Speaker 1: had come from a grandpa saying, Hey, I'm a grandpa
- 53:50Speaker 1: and I owned some land and these neighbors got a tree,
- 53:51Speaker 1: stay in them, a tree that's different. Oh yeah, all right, lukey,
- 53:55Speaker 1: got time for one and a half more? Oh yeah,
- 53:57Speaker 1: of course. My chetickot question is I live in a
- 54:03Speaker 1: state where I can legally harvest two white tail bucks,
- 54:06Speaker 1: one with a firearm, one with archery equipment. I wounded
- 54:09Speaker 1: and lost a buck that I am positive died during
- 54:13Speaker 1: firearm season. The reason I'm not saying anything is I'm
- 54:20Speaker 1: just wondering how positive and why he's positive? Right? Positive
- 54:25Speaker 1: because he saw it laying dead on the neighbor's place
- 54:27Speaker 1: and the neighbor wouldn't let him go get it. Or
- 54:28Speaker 1: is he just thinking because of shot. Let's assume he's
- 54:31Speaker 1: just thinking it's got to be dead, okay, right, he
- 54:35Speaker 1: hasn't seen it, but he's saying like there's no way
- 54:38Speaker 1: it lived. I then shot another buck and harvested it
- 54:42Speaker 1: during the same firearm season. There's a late archery season.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Would it be wrong to shoot another buck with my
- 54:48Speaker 1: archery tag or should I consider both of my bucks
- 54:52Speaker 1: being already tagged. A friend and I had a conversation
- 54:56Speaker 1: about this. He thinks I have killed my two bucks
- 54:58Speaker 1: and I should be done. But legally I can shoot
- 55:02Speaker 1: another buck. So I don't see the problem. I mean
- 55:08Speaker 1: your question, dude, that's what it is, right a little bit.
- 55:13Speaker 1: I mean legally right, But we're talking about and I
- 55:17Speaker 1: called the legal I think I think i'd be out.
- 55:22Speaker 1: I personally, I think i'd be out. You know, best practice,
- 55:27Speaker 1: best practice ethics, highest level ethics is yeah, you're out
- 55:31Speaker 1: because the intent of the laws that you killed two deer.
- 55:33Speaker 1: But but also there might be a situation when the
- 55:37Speaker 1: year before when you passed on four bucks that everybody
- 55:40Speaker 1: else could have shot but you didn't, and you needed
- 55:43Speaker 1: the deer meat, and YadA, YadA. I mean, there's there's
- 55:47Speaker 1: a lot of things that might that could make you go,
- 55:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna follow the letter
- 55:52Speaker 1: of the law, and yeah kill. This is definitely one
- 55:55Speaker 1: of those kind of unwritten rule moral things, and it's
- 56:02Speaker 1: probably just based on the person and like how you
- 56:04Speaker 1: feel about it. You know, if you're shooting deer and
- 56:08Speaker 1: you got your freezer's full and that stuff, yeah, probably
- 56:12Speaker 1: probably don't do it. Like, but if you haven't, you've
- 56:17Speaker 1: been out there trying to get some trying to get
- 56:19Speaker 1: some meat in your freezer, and you know, you've been
- 56:22Speaker 1: working your butt off, Sure, go go hunt get another deer.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Do you might have a guess what state that is?
- 56:30Speaker 1: Maybe Wisconsin, Missouri. I was like that, can you do?
- 56:35Speaker 1: Can you? I mean, can you take does in that state, Wisconsin,
- 56:38Speaker 1: in those particular states those states? Kid? Well, then then
- 56:42Speaker 1: the meat question is out of it, right, Yeah, you
- 56:44Speaker 1: don't have to kill a buck, good point to get meat.
- 56:47Speaker 1: You know, you can just shoot a dough if you
- 56:49Speaker 1: really needed meat. Right, Yeah, my take on it, I
- 56:51Speaker 1: don't see your problem with it. If all respect, like
- 56:56Speaker 1: all respect, if he's like, I'm sure that deer died,
- 56:58Speaker 1: I'm done, don't feel right about it, I totally respect that.
- 57:01Speaker 1: I would never be like, that's stupid, go get another one.
- 57:04Speaker 1: I'd be like, man, that's that's big of you. That's cool.
- 57:06Speaker 1: But if you said, you know what, I didn't recover it,
- 57:09Speaker 1: I didn't tag it, I still got a tag, I'd
- 57:11Speaker 1: be like, you're absolutely right, dude, I don't have any problems.
- 57:14Speaker 1: And I think state game agencies account for a certain
- 57:16Speaker 1: amount of loss in their you know, tag allocations, so
- 57:20Speaker 1: like that're assuming a certain amount of that happening. Anyways,
- 57:23Speaker 1: And to Clay's point, I've purchased god knows how many
- 57:31Speaker 1: antler deer tags that have gone unfilled, right, I mean
- 57:35Speaker 1: over the years. And yeah, there's another wrinkle I'll add
- 57:39Speaker 1: here for this individual to consider. There's one hunt I'm
- 57:43Speaker 1: I'm aware of and participate in. It's a big game hunt.
- 57:47Speaker 1: And if you wound an animal and they don't ask
- 57:50Speaker 1: you to determine how well or not well you wounded it,
- 57:55Speaker 1: if you wound, you tag. So they have the ability
- 58:01Speaker 1: if they want it to be that way, right, they
- 58:04Speaker 1: have the ability to bake that into the regulations. It's
- 58:07Speaker 1: not you know, it winds up being like pretty honor system.
- 58:09Speaker 1: But it's possible for them to say, you know, if
- 58:12Speaker 1: you draw blood or wounded animal, tag the animal. That's it.
- 58:15Speaker 1: You're done, because it's that that's that is a thing
- 58:18Speaker 1: that happens. Last one, is this especially appropriate? Um? Everybody
- 58:25Speaker 1: in here, with the exception of Callahan, has kids. Um,
- 58:30Speaker 1: Luke's got one and one on the way. Chelsea's got
- 58:33Speaker 1: a brand new baby. So here it is. He says,
- 58:36Speaker 1: not sure if this qualifies as chatti kit. I think
- 58:40Speaker 1: it does, but we'll ask it anyway. As a new
- 58:44Speaker 1: dad who also loves hunting, in firearms. A few episodes back,
- 58:47Speaker 1: Steve mentioned that when his kids have friends over to
- 58:50Speaker 1: play or for a sleepover, his wife will make the
- 58:54Speaker 1: other parents aware that there are firearms in the house,
- 58:57Speaker 1: but they are locked up and inaccessible. That I wanted
- 59:04Speaker 1: that was true when we that was true in a
- 59:09Speaker 1: particular setting. We lived in Seattle for a couple of
- 59:11Speaker 1: years and firearm ownership was not assumed, and it is
- 59:17Speaker 1: a very left leaning largely, I would say, largely, like
- 59:23Speaker 1: you know, borderline anti gun area, and my wife knew
- 59:27Speaker 1: that guns were highly politicized there. We weren't doing anything
- 59:31Speaker 1: that we wouldn't have done. She was just pointing out
- 59:35Speaker 1: they're locked in a safe and trigger locked, but they're here.
- 59:40Speaker 1: If you have a problem with that, your kids shouldn't
- 59:41Speaker 1: come over and be at the house because that's just
- 59:43Speaker 1: what's going on in our house. So heads up, we
- 59:46Speaker 1: don't do that. We don't do that where we live
- 59:50Speaker 1: now because I can't think of anyone that comes over
- 59:52Speaker 1: our house that doesn't. So that was a thing we did.
- 59:56Speaker 1: He says, this hadn't crossed my mind, and I haven't
- 59:58Speaker 1: had the chance to ask my parents. It's if they
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: did this or if anyone has said it to them
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: in the past. My son just turned ten months. It
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: hasn't had any friends sleep over yet, But I want
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: to know for the future if this is proper cheticit.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Do people expect to be told about firearms in a home?
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: He says that we live in southeastern Pennsylvania, right on
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: the edge of suburban Philadelphia. I can see rural families
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: saying no shit, so do we. But I can also
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: hear some you know, timmy, like some kids mom being
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: appalled by the idea of guns in the house. What
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: do you think, man, I think it's I think I
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: get what you're saying about in Seattle area like doing
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: that because they could see guncase or whatever and then
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: go back and kind of go tattling or whatever however
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: you want to call it. But I think as parents,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: if you're responsible and you have these guns locked up,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: like actually locked up, I don't think I would say
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: anything one because it might create problems and the parents
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: might not want their kid to come over anymore or
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: something like that. When it's totally not necessary. They should
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: be a it will if you're gonna be against guns,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: you know, Like, I don't know, I think that if
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: you're responsible to have a locked up I probably wouldn't
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: say anything. Yeah. A thing I do feel absolute on
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: is if you've got kids around, your kids, other kids, whatever,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: If you got kids around, you gotta have a tight
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: program when it comes to gun storage. If it's done tight. Um.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: That was my wife's practice. I didn't argue it with
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: her too much. I let her know that I thought
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: it was a bit much. But it's half her house, right,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: she make calls that she you know, she don't mess
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: with me. I'm not gonna mess with what she decides
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: to tell people. I think it's a little bit beside
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: the point. If they're talked away because it's it's it's
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: it's not an issue. They can't get at them right right, Yeah,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I mean they're in the safe especially, I mean trigger
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: locks as well in the safe. I mean I personally,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I mean, to me, there's no point in even bringing
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: it up. But I would say it's a person person
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: basis of like, if you feel like you need to
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: address that with somebody and that makes you feel better
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: about making them feel better than do it, you know
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: what I mean. I don't think there's any right or
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: wrong answer, Like you know, Obviously, doing the safe thing
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: is what you should be doing. So I think that's
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: really what's important, Like you're saying, but how you approach
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: it is really what makes you feel better. You know.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: I got a friend who actually had this happen, and
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: someone said to his wife, I'm not comfortable having my
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: kids in a house that has guns in it, which
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: his wife replied, well, don't come over to our house. Well,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I was gonna say, I want to know where if
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: my kids are going to someone's house that doesn't have guns,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: because you're like suspicious. I'm like, you're telling me if
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: somebody comes and robs your house, what my kids aren't there?
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Are there? No, I don't think that the conversation needs
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: to be had if everything's locked up right. I have
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: a friend who's a detective in Boise and he lives
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: in an area where you know, I would say gun
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: ownership is not assumed. But when every single kid, this
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: was years ago and his kids were at younger ages,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: found out that they're going over to the house and
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: the dad's a cop, every single kid had questions about guns.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: And when that would come up, he would then call
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: the parents or wait until the end of the play date,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: you know, and then talk to the parents and say, hey,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: your child has a bunch of questions about guns. I'm
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: a detective. If you would like and be open to it,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: we can go. I can show kids guns, we can
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: take them shooting, I can go through all the proper
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: safety things if if that's something that you would be
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: interested in, that's big, right. But there was no assumption
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: of like showing somebody else's child guns because just because
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: they asked, right, yep. And I always thought that that
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: was a good move. But I don't you know, It's
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: like there's a lot of things that are going on
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: inside the Ronnella household that could be politicized in some way. Right,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: do you like what? I have no idea, right, But
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: do you say, like, hey, howsoween candy. Here's a list
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: of things that happen in our house. Just so you're aware, right,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: has nothing to do with the child's play date. I
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: did one time have to go report to a neighbor
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: a conversation that I got roped into where my daughter
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and her friend asked me is right after Chester and
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: his wife. Chester's wife had the baby and they told
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: the whole baby story, and my daughter and her friend.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: My daughter said to me, when your water breaks, does
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: it all come out of your head? Led to this
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: big one conversation that I then went to the neighbor
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: and I said, hey, real quick, so this came up
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: me and you and my daughter and your daughter. This
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: came up and here's where the conversation landed. Just heads
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: up in case it comes up. And he says, that's
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: that's great. We use real words for real things in
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: his household. So you're okay, We've had some laughs, but
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I'll joke on aside. Man um, if you've got little
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: kids around, uh, and you can you can know that
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: your kids are so disciplined and would never do something
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: you told him not to do, and not my kids
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: are not like that to all that all that prideful
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: stuff about how discipline and respectful your kids are. If
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: you've got young kids running around, you have to have
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: a storage plan for firearms. You just do. I have.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I'm one of the proudest dads out there that I know,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: but I know oftentimes we have our kids will do
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: a thing they're not supposed to do, and any parent
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: that's acting like that's not a thing is lying to themselves,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: and I don't know that they have the ability too
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: if they're gonna now and then disobey as they test
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: boundaries that they I can't guarantee you that they wouldn't
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: choose to test the boundary around a gun that was
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: carelessly left out land. You gotta have a program, Luke,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: thanks for joining man of course, thanks for having me,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: guys brought to you and get by Columbia PFG. Luke
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: wears it on the stage. You wears it on the water.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: He's wearing it on his damn hat right now. I
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: am I am Luke. Good luck with the with the
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: album out and um, I'm sure people can watch for
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I know that I got some friends that are holding
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: some tickets for one of your shows right now, and
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: they're real excited about They actually sent me a picture
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: of them. Yeah, we're excited. Man. It's been been a
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: lot of fun, all right. We good luck man. Thanks
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: to everybody else, thanks for sending a man. Keep the
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: chattict questions coming and we will keep getting to them
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: um as we can. We got I think like fifty
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: one pages of them left for next time. Thanks everybody.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Seeal gra shine like seing the sun all right, I sweetheart,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: we're done beat this damn horse to death, to take
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: it to new one and ride a We're done beat
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: this damn horse today, So take your new one and
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: ride on.
