- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, I'm Connor Jones.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Mike Atama Sella.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: And this is CultureBree, a Denison form podcast where we navigate the constant stream of top stories and news, politics, sports, pop culture, and so much more than we're doing it all from a Christian perspective in Micah.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Some say Christmas is the best time of the year.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: I say no, this week in particular, every April is the best time of the year.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that Connor?
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: The masters is here.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you mean, oh, you mean the masters?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you mean the master.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: You get to pridefully show all of the gear that you bought when you attended.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: I did.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I did go to Augusta and my life was forever changed and the life of my wife was forever changed as well.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: We had an incredible time.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: It is masters week spring has sprung.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's beautiful outside.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: I guess that's subjective depending on where you live and where you're listening from.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: around here in these parts in DFW, it is mostly beautiful outside, not really getting over high 70s these days, which is pretty great.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: It is a wonderful time of the year on top of that, though, Connor.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: We've obviously got a lot that we're discussing.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: There's also some tough things going on.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to go ahead and preface right now that there is a deadline.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: on Iran right now.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: And what I mean by that is Trump has set an ultimatum, regarding a break through taking place, either a ceasefire or a peace still being announced.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: And if it's not, he is threatening to bomb the entire country, roadways, infrastructure, energy, things like that, because of some everyday meetings here at Dennis and Ministries, we're having a record on Tuesday afternoon when we would normally record on Wednesday.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: So bear with us, the deadline is is technically
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I'll tell you the stories.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to have a better know what happened.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: If an agreement was made, if Trump pulled back on that threat, if the threat was realized.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: We're praying for our service minimum and we're praying for people on Iran.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're praying for everyone made in God's image that people would be kept safe and there would be some sort of a peaceful resolution to this.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: But specifically, what I want to talk about today as we jump into the brief.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: the brief.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you got to take us into the brief.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: Can't stop that right.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: Can't transition it like that right.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to talk about the American Rescue Mission and I ran that we all got to read about and more and more has been coming out about it.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: I did my best to pull from a lot of really great resources, specifically Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Axios, X, got some good stuff on X from people like Michael Weiss.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, there was a lot of information to pull together on what happened there, but
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about it.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: A USF-15E strike eagle was flying over southwestern Iran when it was hit by Iranian fire.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Both crew members were ejected and the aircraft went down deep inside Iranian territory.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Because of the speed of the jet, in the moment, the two airmen landed miles apart.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Right, so you get attacked.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's two people on the plane, two airmen, two American service members on the plane, they eject and parachute, they land not in the same spot, miles and miles apart because of how fast they were going.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: One was recovered.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: The pilot was recovered within six hours.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: The second airman, a weapon systems officer, was missing.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of how I'm prefacing the story, but Connor, most people know what happened, but without giving too much away what were your thoughts on this before I give a fly over this story, what were your thoughts on this story overall,
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: Man, the initial thoughts were Friday morning.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: This is good Friday and we had the day off here and I was at the zoo with my family and I'm like, giving these alerts like, hey, which zets been shot down.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: The fourth is zoo.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's by far the best one.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, best zoo in WW if you're just want to make sure you, yeah, right.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: While we were there though, I'm getting these alerts.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh, this is not good.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: We've got two servicemen behind enemy lines, but the one thing that I did know, as I was happening, you know, we just enough they'd been captured if they, right, they'd even survive the ejections, which they both did thankfully.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: The one thing I didn't know is that the motto for the American armed forces is no man left behind, yeah, and that they would move.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: Mountains in Earth to make sure that these guys got out of their safely if they could.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: My biggest fear was they were going to get taken captive, be held hostage, uses a leverage point all of this out.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly what I ran on it, too, right?
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: But knowing what happened, I'm just amazed by our military.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's where I'll say now.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, even though the information around this story and what's going on in Iran is at a war as a conflict, as an American, whether if you fully agree with what's going on over there or not, I'm going to be honest with you, I can speak for Connor and it has been hard to wrap our minds around everything that's happening in Iran, what's being done, what's not being done.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a difficult story to cover and as a Christian, it has definitely been
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: to a certain extent and I know that we're all feeling that, we're all feeling that weight and that tension.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: But one thing I do think we can agree on is exactly what you pointed to, Connor.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: What the American military was willing to sacrifice to just say one says everything about the American spirit and the American military overall.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: No man left behind and that was a beautiful thing and it's a beautiful story here.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: A difficult one but I'm going to hit it from top to bottom.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: So here's what the down airman faced whenever he ejected.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: He was injured immediately.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: He was alone and on the ground and mountainous terrain inside Iran.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: He had minimal gear, a pistol, a radio, and a beacon.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: That was it.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: He moved up hill to a ridge line, eventually climbing to around 7,000 feet, while injured, by the way.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and he wedged himself into a mountain crevice to stay hidden.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: At one point after reaching higher
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Iranian forces were actively searching for him.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: They used helicopters, drones, ground teams, Iranian state media, even offered a reward two civilians for capturing him alive, turning the search into a much wider effort, and they were getting close.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: So you had every possible person in Iran, a country of 90 million people, looking for this injured airman who ejected and they knew the region.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: They knew a roundabout where he was.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so at points, Iranian forces were just within a few kilometers away from his position.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: And if he had been captured, it would have been a major shift.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: He could have been used for propaganda like Connor said, leveraged in negotiation, and it would have changed the dynamics of the conflict pretty quickly if they would be able to have an American service member.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: be able to hold him hostage, be able to use him for propaganda in their own country, use him as negotiating leverage against the US.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: It would have not been good.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: He survived like this for roughly, get this 36 hours injured, exposed, and being literally hunted.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Right, so that's just kind of set in the stage of what was happening, but let's talk about the training that kept him alive.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of lessons in this too.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: In life sometimes, it's a good thing to prepare our minds, our hearts, our bodies for a time where the flux hits.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're difficult to hit, and we need to be prepared.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: We never know when it's going to happen.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: I know that those pilots, those airmen were probably just flying like it was a normal mission.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: They'd probably been flying every day since the conflict started, and then it happened.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: they got shot up.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: So this is the training that kept him alive.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's called S-E-R-E training seer training is designed for survival, evasion, resistance, and escape.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Conor I just found this so interesting.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: There are no articles out there that give you super in-depth details on this and that's probably a good thing.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: But just to say he was trained to do this, it might have been a kind of an extreme situation and a situation that everybody in the world was watching and monitoring, but he was trained to do this.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: He was trained to treat his own injuries, conserve energy, move away from his landing point immediately, use terrain and elevation to stay hidden, limit communication to avoid detection, and stay alive long enough to be recovered, and that's exactly what he did, God bless him.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: And we still don't have his identity as of now at the time of recording.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: I believe we eventually will, and if this guy wants to start a podcast and start public speaking and write some book, he'll be set up, he'll be set up for sure.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the U.S. response to it and what happened.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: The U.S. launched a large-scale rescue operation and at one point, this turned into what official described as an quote unquote, air armada, meaning there were well over 100
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: This included surveillance aircraft with drones that were scanning the area, fighter jets and bombers that were providing cover specifically special ops helicopters flying into hostile territory and around 100 special operations forces and soldiers.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: There was also a CIA deception effort, I thought this was really interesting too, to mislead Iranian forces about where he was and early rescue attempt had to be aborted after helicopters took fire.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And time was working against them.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: It was only so long that this injured airman could avoid so many people searching for him.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: So here's what was risks.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm gonna go through this quickly.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: The operation pulled in a massive amount of resources.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: B1 bombers drop close to 100 bombs to protect the area, push the enemy back.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: Drone struck Iranian forces moving towards the airman.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Helicopters flew low into hostile airspace.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Planned strike missions elsewhere were delayed to support the rescue.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: And there were also other major complications
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Two transport aircraft became struck on a makeshift air strip replacement aircraft had to then be brought in after the mission U.S. forces had to destroy their own aircraft millions and millions and millions of dollars of their own equipment helicopters that were on the ground to prevent them from being captured.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: This was one of the most complex and high-risk rescue operations in years, and all of it was for one person.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Connor, have I missed anything so far?
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think also, some of the cool to mention is the CIA apparently has some top secret device that they used to keep tabs on where his location was.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: No one else has this device.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever they were using.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: They knew where he was basically the whole time, so then else I noticed too is Donald Trump is normally the guy who will go home to Florida every weekend.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: tomorrow logo hang out there's got you know his little vacation home down there leaves the White House every weekend he stayed back this weekend to oversee this operation and probably do some more like high stakes negotiations with Iran and all that behind the stores it probably would have been a bad luck if he had gone back this weekend especially with uh yeah absolutely yeah the seriousness of this is just so intense and then also all these generals who are planning all to go get this one guy and recognizing what this meant I know let's save this life he matters this guy matters there are so many countries
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: who would not do a thing to leave Russians.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: The Russians when they have men get stuck by an enemy in lines and Ukraine, they leave them or they force them to bribe their commanders to take them back with their injuries.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's terrible.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Here's the US that's sending an entire special forces.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: These guys are risking their own lives.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: It reminds me of saving private Ryan.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: If you've ever seen that movie,
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: Where these guys wish their lives to go to go extract a guy essentially.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's a different scenario He's not being rescued per se, but he's being distracted for reasons that you would learn about in the movie or even the guys who went back there in the blackhawk down saga There were guys who went back to rescue the soldiers who stuck in Mogadishu These guys are incredible brave while rages
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: And there's also the behind enemy lines movie that came on the early 2000 Wilson that was based on that fighter pilot I think it's O gradey who went down in Bosnia in like the mid 90s or something Yeah, so anyway, and there is kind of a similar story getting back, but this was a movie
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: This will be a great movie, but also just the amount of resources expended to get one guy, there's been nothing like this so far.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let me finish this up.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: So here was the rescue.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: So once his position was confirmed, they waited until that night.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Special operations forces flew in.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Air support struck nearby positions to keep Iranian forces from closing in.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: They were close.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: I can't stress that enough.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: They were close to him.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: From his position, the airman helped indicate where threats were approaching.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Commandos reached him, secured him, and moved into an extraction point.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: And after delays at the air strip, replacement aircraft arrived, and the team successfully exited Iranian airspace, no U.S. personnel were killed.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Not from the original plane being shot down.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: not the guys who had to parachute out, who had to eject this airman who was injured and on fleeing for nearly 36 hours evading for his life, not any of the soldiers of the team that kept the Iranian forces at bay.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God, there was no U.S. personnel killed in that, right?
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: So here's what's on the table.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: If Iran does not comply to what's going on, we've talked about this, this is setting the stage for there is this big decision coming up.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: So it's either going to be a ceasefire, a peace deal, or like we talked about, it's going to be potentially large swaths of the country being attacked, which could create a humanitarian crisis.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Please be praying with us for our country's leadership, for the people in Iran, for the vastly what I would believe is
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: just a whole lot of innocent people there and I ran there as a large, large population of Iranian Christians, the church has been growing there in persecution, just praying for everyone's safety there and for discernment for our country's leadership and allies.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're praying for that.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's heavy, but I'm going to give you a spiritual application from this story that really struck me, and you can probably guess what it is.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was low hanging route, but my, you know, we were talking about, we both hit it at the same time.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: This is, we know it Bible story.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: We can point to.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give everybody a second to think before I say it.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: Do do do do.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so this story highlights something simple.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: The US committed significant resources personnel in risk to recover one person.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Millions and millions and millions and millions and hundreds and millions of dollars, maybe billions, I don't know, hundreds and millions of dollars, hundreds of military personnel to save one life.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: That lines up directly with what Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 18, verses 12 through 14, I'm going to read it.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: And what do you think?
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the 99 on the mountains and go and search of the one that went astray?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: And if he finds it truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the 99 that never went to stray.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: So it is not the will of my father who's in heaven that any one of these little ones should perish.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's the heart of God, guys.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: One matters.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's not just one story.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's you, Connor.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's me.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's you who's listening right now.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus was willing to leave the 99 sheep for you, the one lost sheep.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: On your worst day, when you were far from him, when you didn't have it together, he came after you actively.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the challenge.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Who is your one?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Someone far from God, someone overlooked, someone you've been meaning to reach out to, but you keep getting busy.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's easy to stay where it's comfortable to stay in your comfort zone and this stuff, right?
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: The harder move is to go after one person intentionally.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: And if you think long and hard enough, and if you say a prayer, I can just almost guarantee you God's gonna bring someone to mind.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: The harder move is to go after that person intentionally, like I said, and so reach out, start the conversation, don't put it off and remember this.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: When life feels heavy, when you feel far, when you're struggling, you are, I am the one that he came after.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's how important I am to God.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's how important you are to God.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: So my encouragement is to seek to live that out.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: One person and maybe one reminder to yourself at a time.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to show the picture that I've got.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: that is of Jesus.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how well you can see it in this lighting.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: If you're watching a video, you'll see this.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: If not, you can check it out later.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: It is Jesus leaving the 99 sheep in chasing this one.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason I'm showing this is because this is hung in our hallway for a few years now.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I love it.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: I love this parable, the story that Jesus tells.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I love
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: The concept of Jesus chasing after the one and when I went through a really dark season a few years ago, I would stand in front of that picture and just remember that Jesus was coming after me and he's doing the same for everybody else.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: Amen, brother.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: And that is so comforting.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the same way you would feel comforted if you're in the armed forces and know there is an entire Legion of military assets that are going to come and rescue you.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's even more so when you know Jesus is there to rescue you And rescue you.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, soul, and he cares and loves you.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, I love this because this kind of leads right into what we're headed in some of the messages that came from our astronauts who are currently going around the moon They said some similar stuff this week.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I was going to hit on that's cool.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's cool.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, man Jesus is cool.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like genuinely his love for us is so cool
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: and these astronauts up in space they recognize it too if you've been following what's going on with Artemis too we talked about the launch last week which was unique but then now at this point they have gone around the moon and they lost contact with the earth for about 40 minutes on Monday which is I would imagine frightening yeah they knew it was coming they were even that they also set the record for the furthest any humans have ever left earth unbelievable 52,760 miles
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: I just wish we were able to focus on this.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what an American triumph.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just not even the most important story right now, unfortunately.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: There's also a Canadian on board.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you knew that.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know you're a big fan of Canada.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: Love to sing the National Anthem.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: You love Canada, bro.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a cornside dude, man.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Of course I do.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: The great white North.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I did see a Canadian on board.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: Good for them.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, these four astronauts though, man.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: It is a testament to ingenuity, bravery, exploration, and where the next steps are.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: Because this is just going around the moon.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: The next steps are going to be actually getting people on the moon.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: Potentially building a base on the moon to be the launching pad to trips to then Mars.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: A decade from now.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's so much that's comes out of this.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: Man, these astronauts are so cool, and they're taking the, you know, like the most unique pictures from the spacecraft of Earth, of the moon, of the moon in the Earth and one shot, and they're just, they're better pictures than we had in the 70s.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: And we had some pretty cool images from back then, some of the most famous photos on the planet to this day are images that the Apollo missions took.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one of the photos.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: And there's still people saying that didn't happen, then, and that this isn't happening now, right?
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: There's just some people who are.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, you're not in spirit, so you're not going to believe we go to space or do anything in space.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we get these guys like literally tweeting from the spacecraft they could not do that back then But now the these astronauts are like tweeting what do you want it?
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what do you want to do man?
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: It seems pretty legit to me You know it's like location space right on their Instagram photo read wise It was one of those he took a really cool photo of him just looking out the window hatch and he just said There are no words And there's a beautiful picture and then that went super viral millions and millions of people have seen that in my point in saying the numbers there is
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: People are interested in this.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: They want the sense of like we're all together on the same planet.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: Can we work together?
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so good.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: Also this reminded that God is our creator.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like the earth is big, but it's not that big in the grand scheme of things, right?
- 19:25[SPEAKER_02]: They're seeing the entire earth with their eyeballs.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: That isn't saying.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: NASA also published a photo of the Earth taken by this crew and they put it next to a 1972 Apollo 17 mission photo.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: They look very similar, but now what's really cool is in the photo from this week.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's obviously much sharper.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: We got better cameras.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's got better lighting, better contrast.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: And when you zoom in on the outer edges of the Earth, you can see one the sun on the other side kind of the sunrise coming over one side of the Earth.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: And then on the poles,
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, I don't know.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: That just shook me.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, it reminds you that there are so many beautiful things about this earth.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: You're seeing the clouds, you're seeing the oceans, you're seeing the land, this light all around our planet, and God crafted it.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: So perfectly in that way, it just shows the beauty of this planet.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: Another thing I wanted to do for a series, I'm going to play a message that came on Easter, the astronauts were doing a kind of a telecast back with
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: They were talking to him and Victor Glover is the pilot on this mission.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: He's also a professed Christian.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's been given quite a few messages in the lead-up to this launch as well as now that's going to see himself.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: He just seems cool military man, very highly trained, extremely intelligent, very sharp and has a beautiful family and every all of that.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: But man, he was excited to go on this trip and he was kind of put on the spot for an Easter message.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: And so I wanted to just play this message real fast from him because I thought it was so good.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: as we are so far from Earth and looking at the beauty of creation, I think for me one of the really important personal perspectives that I have up here is
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: I can really see Earth as one thing and, you know, when I read the Bible and I look at all of the amazing things that were done for us, who were created.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: You have this amazing place, this spaceship.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: You guys are talking to us because we're in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you're on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live in the universe in the cosmos.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the distance we are from you makes you think what we're doing is special But we're the same distance from you and I'm trying to tell you just trust me You are special and all of this emptiness.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: This is a whole bunch of nothing this thing We call the universe you have this Oasis this beautiful place that we get to exist together
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think as we go into Easter Sunday thinking about, you know, all the cultures all around the world, whether you celebrated or not, whether you believe in God or not, this is an opportunity for us to remember where we are, who we are, and that we are the same thing and that we got to get through this together.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: And how about that?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: That was me clapping, that wasn't super clear.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: That was really good stuff from Captain Glover there.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just incredible stuff and such old man.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's so right such a loving as hard as he's saying it, man.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and he's just saying we're all special and it's true.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's what we just talked about with Jesus chasing the one because every single one of us is endowed with a creative spirit.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: We've all got a piece of God.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're creating in his image.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: You're special if you listen to this.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: Every human on this planet is, and that's what he's trying to say.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I think he conveyed that pretty well.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's also a very reminiscent of the Apollo 8 crew, which was the first crew to go around the moon.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: They did not end up landing on the moon.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: They were doing the first test.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: Could you go around the moon safely?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: They were going on Christmas Eve.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: In 1968, bro, they were doing that with like, well, no computers allegedly.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Allegedly.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: Right, right, right.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: Some would say no.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: they were an interesting position.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: They were up in space at a very turbulent time.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: This is 1968.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: Vietnam war is just getting started.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: MLK in RFK had been assassinated that year.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: Soviet Union tensions were just ratcheting up.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: The Cold War was, I mean, as hot as it was going to get.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: And they were in space on this incredible mission, trying to prove that the moon landing could occur.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: And it was Christmas weekend on Christmas Eve.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: They were given basically permission by NASA to speak, give a message, just keep it appropriate.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_02]: And so Frank Orman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders, as they became the first human to ever fly around the moon, delivered a message on Christmas Eve, and all they did was read the first 10 verses of Genesis.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just going to read verse 1 and verse 10, you'll know kind of what goes in between that.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and God called the dry land, earth, and the gathering together of the waters called the seas, and God saw that it was good.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: Man, they said that as they were looking out over the entire expanse of earth, I just like for us individually, Michael, we can remember fusion's two ten that says, for we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus, for good works, which got prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, even Jesus reinforced that earth is our temporary home in John 174 when he said, I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work you gave me to do.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: So one thing that's really cool is Jim level who was on that Apollo 8 mission helped deliver that Genesis 1 message.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: Man, you might know his name because he was played by Tom Hanks in the movie Apollo 13.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: Jim level went back to space a few years later.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: Both times he never got to set foot on the moon.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: He did the test mission and then Apollo 13 obviously had problems.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's why they made a movie about it and never made it to the moon.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: Did go around the moon.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: So he went around the moon twice in his life.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: Never stepped foot on it.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: The last August.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: he died at age 97, but before he passed away, and he's a legend in his own right, just an American legend.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: Before he passed away, he was able to record a message for this Artemis 2 crew, which I thought was really cool.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: In that message, it's very grainy, so I'm not going to play it here.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of hard to understand, but he said, hello, and welcome to my old neighborhood.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: When we orbited the moon on Apollo 8, we got humanity's first up close look at the moon, and got a view of the home planet, inspired and united people around the world.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: I am proud to pass that torch on to you as you swing around the moon and lay the ground work for missions to Mars for the benefit of all, as a historic day and I know how busy you'll be, but don't forget to enjoy the view.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm presenting that message because I think there's a lesson here we can learn that level is presenting.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: And so just basically about the finiteness of us as humans, level was a highly accomplished pilot, decorated military man, obviously a legend in the astronaut world.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: legendary american all around but he knew that life on this earth which he got to see you know the entirety of the earth with his own eyes unique perspective unique perspective and he knew that it was not actually his permanent home and that i think you know he he had the opportunity to see space exploration as a journey to be carried on and it is this was him passing the torch on with this message to this new crew right before he passed away yeah he passed the torch on to this new generation who will then pass it on to another generation down the road yeah
- 26:02[SPEAKER_02]: because it is all finite at the end of the day.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's what Captain Glover is saying here too, like there's more, you're special, there's more, read the Bible, God exists, God created this.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: This is a tiny, tiny little sliver of space that we are exploring.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: Look at the vast expanses of what our God created.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much to explore, there's so much to take in, and yet he still carries for every single one of you, you're all special.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: I love that message, man.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: I love that Connor.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for taking it in that direction.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really great reminder.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: And thanks for talking about even like taking the time to point out that in 1968, when this other mission was going on, all the assassinations that took place, how shook people in the world and specifically in America were probably feeling, how war with Russia, potentially nuclear war with Russia felt imminent.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: So what it's so forth, it just
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, our country has been in situations like this before, of uncertainty.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about this a lot, as we're approaching 250 years as a country, never discount and discredit the resiliency of the American people.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's the first thing I'll say.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm going to give you something that's going to give you even more hope than that.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: The God of the Universe has a plan as an in control of this entire situation.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: We just have to remember that we want his will to be done over ours 24-7 every day, right?
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: Even if it's not specifically what I want or how I want, God has a plan and a purpose that he's fulfilling and we want to join him in that.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: But you know what, hug your loved ones, take a deep breath.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: Remember that you have purpose today, you have a plan for your life.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: And we're all in this together as the astronauts new and old like to point out.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: And it does seem like a sovereign thing, a beautiful thing that this is happening right now in another tumultuous time and how it helped inspire people back then.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it inspires people to unity now and not just unity for the sake of unity, unity and Christ.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, great stuff.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: Let's change it up a little bit here.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do a little hot take I got for you.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: My God, I didn't really prep you for this.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: I brought this one.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't done a hot take in a minute.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: And if you'll remember last year, we really set the world on fire when I brought the hot take that if you're wearing master's gear, you better have gone to the master's.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: Who would have actually attended and bought it there in person?
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that made a lot of people mad.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: Also a lot of people agreed.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: Here's my hot take today.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: I've been thinking about this one because I've been to both of these restaurants recently and I think a lot of people will disagree with me here, but specifically on chicken sandwiches I think the canes, raising canes, chicken sandwiches are a better bang for your buck and maybe just all around better than the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches and I can kind of explain my thoughts here but I just want your initial thoughts.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're probably right.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't order the sandwich normally.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: I do the box combo.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: Four strips.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: I do it with out co-slaw, extra fries, and I do it crispy all the way through.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: So they leave the chicken and the fries and the fryer for a little bit longer, and they both give you a little bit more crunch, praise God.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know you could do that.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking to a guy who knows his raising canes.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, you're probably 100% right.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: I do love Chick-fil-A.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not knocking on Chick-fil-A, but specifically if you're just getting the sandwich, whether it's the regular or the spicy, I know it's the deluxe.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's all those same kind of circular-ish filets that they serve.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: It is always just an absolute
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes it's one of my points.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, did you just smash this thing with a hammer?
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the chicken?
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then sometimes every once in a while, you are blessed with a big fat piece, okay?
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: But I can't count on it in that way.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of ways that you can count on Chick-fil-A, customer service.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you order nuggets, if you order strips, a wrap, a salad, you can count on that.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's always good, right?
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm saying specifically, if you're making a sandwich argument, you're probably 100% right on that.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, thank you.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: This is my point because at Keynes, they throw three full tenders on there with lettuce and King sauce and thick buns and then the fries and here's the thing I looked us up this morning The combo meals of the chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A and Keynes are the same price.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm getting more bang for my buck at Keynes dude It's a bigger sandwich probably the same amount of fries.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe more fries honestly same size drank.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm leaning towards going to Keynes It came up because less okay after we went to the zoo on Friday We swung by the Keynes right outside the forward zoo to go through the drive through having done that in a minute
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: And another thing that I love about the game should get sandwiched.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: If you go there and you order one, and you go inside, they yell back to the kitchen.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: We got a sandwich, you know, it's very much like a declaration of this person making a special order.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but in the drive through the other day, this guy takes my order on the iPad, and he puts his finger up to the, to the earpiece, he goes, we got a sandwich, like it was so serious, he looked at it, he was in the secret service, and I felt, I felt like I was getting something very unique.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: All right, upgraded the situation.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think all around.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a better chicken sandwich.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: Let us know if you disagree with this concept or this hot take.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone remember this was Connor's hot take.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: I might agree with him to a certain extent, but I don't think I've ever even ordered this sandwich.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: It canes.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm going to next time.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: But everyone remember that if you like this hot take, it was my idea.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't like it, it was 100% unequivocally Connor's idea.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: It was, okay sure, it was definitely my idea both ways.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let us know.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: Shoot us a message to our email, your thoughts on chicken sandwiches or anything, any topics, anything.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: CultureBreath at dinnisonformed.org.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: Love hearing from you guys, the good, the bad, the ugly.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: And we also have an Instagram.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_02]: Go follow us at CultureBreath podcast on Instagram.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: Check out our clips there and messages comment on anything.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we'll post a poll about our chicken sandwiches this week.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's check in on a few things going on, Michael.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: After we recorded last week, the later that day, Pam Bondy got fired, she was the attorney general, she was a popular pick at first, when Trump initially announced her, she wasn't the first choice.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: He initially wanted Matt Gates.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: He was really controversial in Congress, and so there was no chance he was going to ever get confirmed by the Senate.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: So he moved on to Pam Bonnie and the expectations were high for her from Trump and his administration and she I just don't think met them fully.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: She wasn't going after his enemies as much as he wanted She also really didn't perform well in congressional hearings when she had to go before the Senate and then the biggest thing was she really bungled the jet free Epstein files.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's it
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's yeah.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: Made him look worse, made the entire administration look worse.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: She didn't look great, made the Department of Justice just look like they weren't forthcoming or even accountable.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't think so.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't really good.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I wasn't entirely surprised by this.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: This is now two people fired in the last month and a half from Trump's administration.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: After a full year of no firing, which was, yeah, obviously kind of surprising.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no one in Bondi.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Both of those make sense.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: No one was super obvious.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: The Bondi part is like, yeah, I just felt like they could have fired her quite a bit longer.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, sooner to when the actual issue happened.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: It just kind of felt like a little late to do it.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I definitely understood why the move was made.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you know what those Epstein files still won't go away.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: There's obviously the thoughts that everyone they should either ran everything with their ran is a distraction or even if it's not an intentional distraction it is distracting and it's taking a lot of heat off with people, but I don't think those Epstein files are going away any time soon.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm going to continue to be a problem.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: I might shit in the way, right?
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: They shouldn't.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, there used to be accountability.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: Full accountability.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: March madness.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: It wrapped up.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: We had the women's March madness wrap up on Sunday.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: The UCLA team there.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: They won their first title since 1978 and they pummeled South Carolina man 79 to 51.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: That was just a absolute beating.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: But then the men's on Monday night.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: The Michigan Wolverines beat the Yukon Huskies 69 to 63.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching that game and kind of the Huskies almost had a comeback there.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: Michigan, man, remember the Fab 5 in the 90s?
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we don't because we weren't even born yet.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I do, man.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'll see.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we were born in the 90s.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Calm down, brother.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're not that young.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: However, yes, I do know about the Fab 5, Fab 5.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen documentaries.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know what happened.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm going to hit you with a tune-in.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: All right, you ready?
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really the most important tune-in update.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: We've given it a long time.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's Master's Week, y'all.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: in August of Georgia.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know how people say it's hard to not be romantic about baseball.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: Connor would say he probably disagrees with that.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: Connor doesn't like baseball and doesn't like America's pastime.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: You can even say maybe Connor doesn't like.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I'm not going to go that far.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: I actually do like baseball just not every single day of my life.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, you're not romantic about baseball though, but I appreciate it there.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, okay fair.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: There is a beauty baseball and I think there's a beauty in golf.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think both sports.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not really trying to draw like a connection here.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: What I would say is it does take a certain level of patience as a fan to watch baseball in golf and there's something about that payoff.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: from the patients.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: There's something about the quietness of each game that really do make them American pastimes golf included.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: So the Masters is teeing off on Thursday and a run through Sunday.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is the turnaround.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: This is, yeah, the Super Bowl.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's golf.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big deal.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: It is the, it is the major.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: It is the most important golf tournament of the year.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: Rory's coming back trying to defend his title.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Scotty wanted the year before that was the year that we got to go and I detailed that a lot in previous episodes We were forever changed by our time at a gust of national and at the masters being able to go the last two days But we're gonna give you our predictions for the masters and we would encourage you
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: watch it.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you've never watched golf before, or if maybe you weren't planning on watching it, just find some time and turn it on.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, the music they play, the camera angles, like, you will just be transported to that world.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I can guarantee you, interval actually a little bit.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't know.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: They're very traditional minded.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: They don't let anybody be a phone's in.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: So you don't see people crowded with their phones, taking pictures.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: You have to put your phones away.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_02]: You're dressed nice.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: The flowers, they're beautiful.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: The birds are chirping.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's the most gorgeous landscape like tailored by men, probably in America.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's the most beautiful.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's the most beautifully manicured piece of earth, like on the planet, like, for sure, bar none.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, when we were there, there were people literally employed to pick up the pine needles that would fall into the grass.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: they were taking tools and just picking up singular pine needles in the grass.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: It is just it's incredibly beautiful and it's almost kind of even hard to explain.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: You guys just tune in and watch it this weekend.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of our greatest recommendations that we can give.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to give you our winner predictions.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: Connor, you go first.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: Who's going to win?
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking, I've been dimple dabbling in this and you know playing a little master's fantasy league trying to think through who I want to pick and I'm landing on Justin Rose the man who got second place to Rory last year took him to a playoff.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: And one put going in would have changed the entire thing last year and Rory would not have had that massive come back and is finally winning the green jacket that he's been looking for for two decades.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: Justin Rose has gotten second three times.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's time.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a time.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good bridge guy British guy is a good pretty good and I guess and he's also got 45 he's played a lot there.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a time man.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: Just a legend of golf.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great pick up.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: Justin Rose could absolutely win it.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go with Cameron Young.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's obviously never won it before either.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: He had an incredible performance, especially on the last day at the Ryder Cup.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, last year, and then also he won the player's championship last month that TPC saw grass.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's coming off of a high and overall he's just a great American.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: He seems like he's a great husband, a great dad, has a young family, and just goes about his business and works methodically, and he's absolutely on the come up.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I think he has the right amount of momentum, and he plays well on courses like this.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a very good chance of winning.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_02]: He is the best putter and golfer.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, yeah, this is like in putting matters and golf.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: And specifically, out of gusts of national man, like if you, if you can put, well, you're going to be in a good spot.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, because you've said it too, I've heard this like when you're actually I've never been and obviously I'd like to go a one day I hope to go.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard that it when you're there in person, you can actually see how intense those greens are.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not nearly conveyed as well on television, everything looks a little more flat than it actually is.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's hills and the best part of the situation can look silly on this course, right?
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just kind of banking on him channeling that being able to kind of fight those elements.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, yes, the best putters in the game can absolutely look silly on this course.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: at the master's.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about that last week.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_02]: We did a tiger or film with the first time in the 32 years that we won't have one of those two guys.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: So on hopefully tigers get better.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't seem.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't seem right.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: Does it.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's an update from last week.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: Tiger is seeking help.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: So hopefully he's getting better and we'll be back next year.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: Sounds good.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody go watch the masters.
