- 0:33What is going on different thinkers?
- 0:35Welcome back to the after all we think differently daily it's an
- 0:38interesting one. Right?
- 0:39I call this video high functioning autism But high
- 0:42functioning autism isn't the term that exists.
- 0:44It's kind of a not a term that use anymore.
- 0:46I was actually taken away because of all this kind of
- 0:48weird stuff that happened between like nomenclature and
- 0:50trying to get support and it was just a bit weird and using
- 0:52function and labels didn't really help anybody.
- 0:54So they got rid of all that and then they called it Autism
- 0:56Spectrum Disorder. So in this video, what I'm
- 0:58talking about is people on the autism spectrum, lower support
- 1:01needs than people on the autism spectrum with high support
- 1:03needs. And therefore, let's get into
- 1:06what's going on. If you want to download my free
- 1:08PDF book on hacks for autism daily living, there will be a
- 1:11link in it. Are both here and in description
- 1:13below and on the end slate. So you can download my free PDF
- 1:15book, if you've already got it. Then that's awesome.
- 1:17I love you. Thank you so much for done with
- 1:18book for free. You guys are awesome.
- 1:20Okay, so I wrote down a list of the traits of people who are on
- 1:24the autism spectrum with low support needs, so that you would
- 1:26kind of be able to identify them, because sometimes it can
- 1:28be a bit tricky. When people aren't typically,
- 1:30displaying things that are noted with kind of like the classic
- 1:34idea of autism. So let's go through them right
- 1:37now. Okay, number one is the love of
- 1:39routines like autistic people love.
- 1:41Teens. They love to stick to daily
- 1:43routines. They'll have to stick to doing
- 1:45the same thing every single day they could do probably have the
- 1:48the same thing for, you know, for breakfast every single day.
- 1:51It'll come down and I'll sit in the same spot, all watch the
- 1:54same thing and the TV I will be the same magazine.
- 1:56Let me sit in the same chair all the time and that routine is
- 2:00like their wife. They love it.
- 2:01I Lifeline something, they hold onto some really cherish and
- 2:04they love, and it's part of them.
- 2:06That's something that we should really look out for because it's
- 2:08a really good indicator. So, on on the autism spectrum,
- 2:10because 11 route, Teen give somebody stability and so on the
- 2:14autism spectrum really want stability because that stability
- 2:16gives them that Comfort I guess and security also.
- 2:20Okay, so number two is special interest.
- 2:23Most people on the autism spectrum will have a specific
- 2:26special interest like almost like an obsessive interest that
- 2:29they really focus on and when they really focus, I mean, like
- 2:32they go to town on it. Like I remember a guy who I know
- 2:35who is on the autism spectrum and he was really interested in
- 2:37Marilyn Monroe. Like he knew everything about
- 2:39it, he read every book about Mom and Dad, Pull all the
- 2:42memorabilia and books and stuff and you went to visit her house.
- 2:45But she grew up and went to the place where she was last living
- 2:48and stuff in America and that some of her friends and all that
- 2:51kind of stuff. And it was just as if this crazy
- 2:53like obsessive interest with my own Monroe and I have obsessive
- 2:57interest to I love systems and chemistry.
- 3:01And yeah, I just marketing and online social media and stuff
- 3:04like that but like like obsessive like I mean I just I
- 3:07love it, I listen to it all the time.
- 3:09So in terms of that, especially obsessed, Set of interest and
- 3:12special-interest come under the umbrella of a typical trait or a
- 3:16personality trait of somebody in the autism spectrum.
- 3:18Because it's very, very interesting.
- 3:20It gets intense. And I can tell you now that if,
- 3:22you know exactly what I'm talking about, where you've got
- 3:25a son, or a friend or whatever, who is on the autism spectrum or
- 3:28you suspect that they're on the Spectrum.
- 3:29But they have this thing that you talked about, on, I'll talk
- 3:31about it non-stop, just for pal, talk to you about it until the
- 3:35cows come home until you're bored of probably falling
- 3:37asleep. And you're like, I've no
- 3:38interest in stickers stamps or hot.
- 3:41Vintage coins but they're telling you about it anyway,
- 3:44right? Give this video a thumbs up if
- 3:45you know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 3:47Man, I'm reaching out to you because I know it, I can see it,
- 3:49I can see it. I see a Betsy, I see you there.
- 3:53Betty, who's Betsy. Anyway, so they are third one on
- 3:56my list is odd food habits now. It says, if people are
- 4:00interested person may have an unusual eating habits.
- 4:03Now, they may like separating their food on their plate so
- 4:07that they have like, you know, chicken aside and then rice
- 4:10aside and then veggies, I'd with the so they're not touching or
- 4:13they may have like the gravy and sauces and stuff in a pot next
- 4:16to their dinner so they can get their stuff into it so they
- 4:17don't have to have it touching. This is very common because
- 4:20textures and stuff. Come with the sensory processing
- 4:23disorder which is a coma with Lee co-occurring with autism
- 4:26which is kind of like a bolt on diagnosis that happens with
- 4:30autism but it's kind of like it kind of marries up quite well.
- 4:33But this also leads to things like and use your eating habit
- 4:37where they want to separate food and I can't have this type of
- 4:38food or food that looks a certain color or That smells a
- 4:42certain way like for me specifically, I can't have raw
- 4:45onions or garlic. Anyone knew me and I can't be in
- 4:47a room where someone's cooking onions and garlic, it just makes
- 4:50me feel very uncomfortable and it just lots of difficult for me
- 4:53to be in the room and I'm getting really upset when I was
- 4:55doing my access to science course degree.
- 4:59When when we had to dissect an onion to important on microscope
- 5:02and look at the laser but yeah it was very difficult to deal
- 5:05with but that's just who we are. It's just we're all individual
- 5:08and we're all made just super awesome.
- 5:09So yeah we should power to being in Dividual man.
- 5:12That's awesome. Okay, so the fourth thing I want
- 5:15to talk about here is difficulty in conversation.
- 5:19Now, conversion for people in social situations, is typically
- 5:22something that people do without even thinking about, but people
- 5:25on the autism spectrum will have difficulties in social
- 5:28situations because autism in its core is a communicative issue.
- 5:32It's a communication issue where people on the autism spectrum
- 5:36will have difficulties socializing because socializing
- 5:40has Unwritten And kind of spoken about rules that we just pick up
- 5:44from just going to school and hanging out with friends and be
- 5:47with this guy and that guy and when those things kind of pick
- 5:49up just around you but people on the autism spectrum.
- 5:52Don't really pick these up because they're too busy.
- 5:54Trying to figure out the world around them, from heightened,
- 5:56senses and other things that's going on or maybe their
- 5:58excessive interest with coins and Marilyn Monroe, it's taking
- 6:00over the time where they would have been concentrating on
- 6:02conversational pieces, between two people and blah blah blah.
- 6:06So this is a very interesting Hallmark was one of the autism
- 6:10spectrum. May have an awkward time I'm
- 6:11having a social dinner or social conversation or meeting new
- 6:15friends. Very, very interesting.
- 6:17Okay, so number five, is that people on the autism spectrum.
- 6:20We'll have like an anxiety or overwhelmed easy parts of them,
- 6:24so they could be like, very they could be overwhelmed very
- 6:26easily, basically. And not have excessive anxiety.
- 6:29That can cause meltdowns and emotional outbursts, or or what
- 6:33people used to call kind of like nervous breakdowns or an anxiety
- 6:36breakdown, which is basically a meltdown in an Autism sense,
- 6:39which happens quite a lot. And I was Is the person on the
- 6:42autism spectrum? Has a difficulty in certain
- 6:45situations that will heighten their anxiety or heightened,
- 6:47their be getting triggered in this that get upset.
- 6:50And then they get like emotional, he's overwhelmed.
- 6:52All those things can cause this, this upset, and this upset can
- 6:57come out as like an anxiety attack or can come out as a.
- 7:02I don't know. It could be an automatic that
- 7:03could be a shutdown. Could be a could be anything
- 7:05right? But the fact of the Maya is that
- 7:08it happens and if you are, you know, you know, somebody who may
- 7:11be on, The autism spectrum and you see them getting overwhelmed
- 7:14easily or triggered easily. I have anxiety attacks, all
- 7:16those partial to panic attacks and they have also other stuff
- 7:19going on. Well, there you go.
- 7:20The may actually be on the autism spectrum and that's kind
- 7:23of like an interesting thing. And it's a cool thing because
- 7:25we're all individual and all different and all equal in our
- 7:27own way. And so that is super that is
- 7:30super super awesome. But that being said, guys, if
