Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey guys, coming up on the show today, it is Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group Mercury News has covered the 49ers for this is 26 year and has always just been an awesome guy to me, has been wonderful.

- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: I also want to thank Pusto.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Pusto is sponsoring this conversation with Cam, even though it's not a home game and you can't go to Levi Stadium this week to get Pusto in the stadium.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: As Cam,
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: told me he knows you at the end of the interview.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned Puesto when he says I asked.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned the Santa Clara location.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: They got two locations in the Bay Area.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: One in Santa Clara, one in Concord.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: They've got locations in Southern California, Orange County, La Jolla.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to watch games on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or if you don't watch games at all, you want to go to a nice dinner.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: You want to go to a nice lunch.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Plus those the spot may he kind of moderno the food is excellent the vibes are excellent the Margarita's are excellent You know the menu they have in Levi's stadiums really good.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's like unheard of in terms of stadium food But it's just great food the tortillas are made in house daily from scratch.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best you can find the crispy melted cheese
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: they add to their tacos, and if you get to the go, you can get the burrito.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: They got so much, and I love them.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know everyone who goes who has heard about Puesto on this show tells me, I was right.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Of course I'm right.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: The couple things I know.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: football and food and you know who else knows football the food the Adler brothers because they've done a hell of a job They're big matter fans But they have absolutely crushed it.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: They continue the standards are so high at Presto I know you'll love it.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you to Presto for supporting the show for sponsoring this episode And let's get into it with cam admin Uh, what it feels like you're watching things that you've never seen before Uh, you bring in the author of the franchise
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: that for a start perspective.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I've got a copy here, Caminman of the Barry news group.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: I got one of those somewhere else.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: You do.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: I see it over your shoulder.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the guys that did the forward.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's Frank Gore and the George Kittle.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's my profile from coaching softball or something.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Frank's been around.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's been cool.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: George finally returned.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think I heard Steve Young say this, your boy, Steve Young say this the other day and can be are like, when you've been around, you don't like anything is possible.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if five and two what comes next for this team, but the fact that they're at five and two, and that it's gone, and of course, you know, Bryce Huffett's hurt now.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's that old, there's that old, there's that old riddle, and it's got, it's like a famous riddle, right?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: Or it's like if a ship leaves England.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: And on its journey from England to New England, you replace every plank of the ship when it arrives at its destination.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the same ship or a new ship that has arrived, right?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: One by one, you replace every plank of the ship as it's crossing the Atlantic.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the same ship or a new ship?
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: That, it's the same ship, it's the same ship.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: The, that's like very Jim Harba asked by the way.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: I let off my 49er mailbox day in Mercury News.com.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody asked me to describe the team in one word.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: And rather than use the ship analogy, I summed it up with a reforestation where a tree goes down in a new tree's planet and to nurture the environment, right?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I think we're on the same wavelength there because one's down, another one gets his chance to sprout and blossom and you never know what's gonna happen.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: So what the hell is going on?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it's just a national football league guy as players get hurt and you better have some depth and I think right now nobody knew anything about the Niners depth right because it was so we're so blinded by the stars and you go, well the depth is going to be bad because they haven't been tested and so right now they're getting tested and they're fighting
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: I, what I don't like that I've, like the last couple of days is people want to credit like one person or one coach, football's such a team oriented game.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I'm like, it's not because of George Kittle blocking that their run games going.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's not because saw a through and a few blitzes.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: They just figured out a way to outseem an opponent that was inferior and guys on
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: And they only turn the ball over once, I believe, right?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: And they still can't get a darn interception.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I think that they always they turn over as matter and they do matter a lot.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to place smart football.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can run the ball a lot and place them solid defense, you're going to win.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: you know, I think it's a great point because I found when I was talking about the game afterwards on Sunday, every time I wanted to mention somebody, you know, credit to this guy and then you're like, oh, but also this guy in this guy in this guy in this guy in this guy in this guy, and I do think it's been a masterclass.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Shayna hands perspective last week, you know, for all of the Kyle is that he will he's a great offensive coach.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought his perspective, the way he's leadership on, here's how we're going to reframe.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Fred, the fact that it was Fred that got hurt and Fred handles it the way Fred handles it.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever, I mean, covered him?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to put in perspective because Fred's been such a great leader and for him to speak after the game that in Tampa was very surprising to me and I was I was fast at it was wandering around the locker and asking every guy could tell me the scene and what it was like and whether it was the most emotional locker.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a most emotional locker in a lot of time but I think Fred Warner showing up at Levi's and cheering on his team and not just making a
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: But like staying in the stands and kind of be there with the fans.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then even after the game, I'm down.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's how the locker room and here comes Fred.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: We won by the Scooter Young Tubsidy.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, this guy just, he has such an infectious positivity to lead people is very unique.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: And so,
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's why like, you know, we could go, it's like, how do you, you can't ignore that void?
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like for both, it's like, well, yeah, we lost him.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: We know a big, big quality guy, but Fred met so much of this team.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: And, and they have to figure out a way to get through it.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Tate and Bethune wearing his 48 was a stroke of genius.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but he wears 48.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: But any credit to D winners were setting him up with that jersey.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: Said D winners was one that supplied it.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: To know what, I mean, you were there in train camp.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: So you know that Tatum Bethune played really well in camp in the off season in preseason.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: They played in preseason, placed a thread in those games.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I was so impressed with what I thought, maybe Tatum Bethune lines up next to Fred Ravindee winners.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: But D-Winners did nothing to lose his job.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: So nobody can replicate Fred's passion and fire out there.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: But Bethoon can be like a quality NFL middle linebacker.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: So can he be like the best now?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: But like Fred was so unique because his range and his instincts and his intellect and yeah, he wore that 48 Fred Warner jersey as a rookie.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you when Fred Warner was a rookie.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I just remember the impression like it was yesterday.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Fred sitting out his locker during the media hour that we're allowed in there and just his head's buried in the play sheet.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like just going through everything,
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: everything that's common because he wanted to know and I just, I admired it and I didn't like really say, oh, this guy's going to get it, but I just, I admire the work ethic and it wasn't for show for the media because if you want to talk to me, could otherwise he was focused.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, I, I was thinking the last couple days about, you know, you look at the, every week I think after the nine of display, no, I think I know I look at the schedule and go, okay, you know, if you think they've suffered too many injuries to win the next game, let's go look at who they play next.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, oh, they plant land, okay, they can, you know, not that Atlanta's not some pushover, obviously, but, and you know, I think the common understandable kind of feeling around this team is how lucky can we be, how lucky can they be.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm watching Matt Jones going, how lucky, wait a second, could you get any luck here?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, maybe these team is not unlucky, but they're lucky because they have Mac Jones as your quarterback when Brock is.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, 99% of other backups, this season, that would be the thing that sinks the season.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's Brock Perti's injury, and it hasn't.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, which coach has experienced a shift in three different quarterbacks every season just about?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: And Kyle's had a dugout with that before, and I think the fact that Max come in, and he's done so with a slatter and fun,
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: and knows his place and it's not like I'm here to prove I better than Brock Perty.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here to prove I'm a NFL quarterback that I can leave people and it's it's wonderful to see and you're right.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's something they really do need because you look around the league and like that, you know, quarterback changes are going on around teams and I really, this year really could be like survival of the fittest year like everybody's going to get hit by injuries.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: And the Niners got hit so hard the first month and a half of the season, there's still so much more to go.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: So does it balance itself out or are they just going to be a complete shell of themselves with a new ship come December?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: What's your, what's your read on per, like, doesn't sound like Brock's coming back this week?
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like so because I think when Kyle, if he said yesterday, Brock's going to practice full this week and you're like, all right, full steam ahead, this is unplanned.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: But when they say we're going to take it as we have been
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: that to me is there so very cautious and and leery of it.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: So before the game's Sunday night, I happen to be walking my locker room and Brock was coming in the tunnel from working out on the site field.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I see, I go, hey, Brock, you guys ain't came.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I like, you just seem chipper and everything was like typical Brock, right?
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, like I just messed up because there was a report, I think yesterday or today, whatever I was saying that he didn't have a good workout on Sunday and I'm like, gosh, I mean, then he hit it really well for me because he seemed really optimistic and kind of, you know, like everything was coming along well.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, I think that people have to understand that the turf toe injury can be really serious and really painful.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: And the nighters have the luxury of playing Mac Jones
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: And they don't have to force Brock back in there.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I happened to go on a run-to-date and run by my sister's house and she was telling me about her turf toe injury and how she couldn't play soccer and all this.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then she wanted to play in a milk soccer link so after a few weeks or whatever she strapped on a cleat and she said, you know what, it felt good.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I go, that's because a lot on the cleat has like a flat surface.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: what they do for NFL players will put like a little iron, whatever, not iron, what they make it harder.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: So the toe doesn't bend as much.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: And so in Brock did that I believe in when he came back in week four.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: So they'll take the precautions.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: You're asking me what I think I think they're probably going to weigh a little bit more.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I asked a shanahan on the conference call whether
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: It factors in that they're playing on artificial turf in Houston and then in the metal lands in Jersey.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, no, not that he's been aware of, but, you know, he's not going to stand anything otherwise because you don't want to pretend that you're baby and the guy.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: But Brock, or he aggravated that toe on the natural grass surface of the Levi's.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: So it can happen anywhere.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, we had two hamstrings, right?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Watching Bremdall and Hoff on a lot of natural grass this week.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm glad you asked that question, because I know I looked a few weeks ago, the Texans turf is the same turf as the so-fi turf, which is not, it's a different brand than field turf.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: The giant turf is apparently, it's been replaced since the 2020 ACL destroys and extravaganza.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, it's, yeah, it can be replaced, but there's still people don't want to apply out for some reason.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just saying it's a different surface, that's all.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: But probably about,
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say maybe 10 years ago or so Houston was notorious for having that feel because they have these grass trays they would bring in and you can see the teams and guys hated that.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: So this is probably better than that.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's a way to them in Houston.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: What do you see is like they're next.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think we look so often like they're you're grinning and like the next I'm going to go wrong, but like okay kiddles back I'm with you on party it's what at this point why rush it when your quarterback is playing as well as Mac Jones is playing there's no reason for Brock to come back until he's 100% healthy
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so what's the next plus?
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a trade?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Pearson?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: Is it good?
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you want to go positive?
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: I like this.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's clear to me with the people you to want.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're, they're all even in the bathroom now.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, we don't want any positivity.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's only it's they prefer to chase me talk here.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: That should be the podcast negative Niners.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think a trade has got to be coming the next two weeks and, you know, not because of Bryce has hamstring because that's now like it's only a short term deal, like a two-week deal, whereas Kittles was four to five, right?
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: But although, I mean, most hamstrings are like four to five, you know, maybe, but they needed help at defensive end anyhow.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: So like to me, it was like, that didn't impact the urgency, they still needed defensive end help.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I could see them getting into defensive end, I could see them getting a corner back.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Um, maybe an interior lineman, if it depends on where how they feel about the centers, but I, I almost feel like they don't want to trade for a center because like, I don't know how bad Bremel's hamstring is, but they rolled him out right away.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: And Hennessy came in and he quit it himself better than we expected, because there were some issues in the preseason and camp reset.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, I don't know about this.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: And he, he did really well.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he helped push McAfrey into Connor Colby's tractor pull.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: I liked that.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then, but behind them is Drake Nugent, who was an undrafted rookie last year.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: To me, it's like, the center position is overlooked, but it's so vital in kind of getting every, making the calls online and having that connection.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: And when I asked Matt Jones about the transition, he said, oh, there was no big deal because he and Hennessy were that basically they were the number two unit and through camp.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's why it's like, oh, okay, that makes sense.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: But I have back to the point of a trade.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would think a defensive end, it's still number one priority.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe some offensive line help corner back help and pray for rain.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: And what do you think like not trade anything more than a fourth to get it?
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's every trade is like, all right, let's get a defensive end.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're a fifth round pick.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm actually more curious if they've been willing to part with a player, do player swaps.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Because they're talking about they want to protect their future, right?
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: So say you can't get a guy in 2020.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's under contract through 2022.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously that's the dream.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: They've done that with past eyes.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but what do you saying trade for a player has another you who is not a free agent at the end of the year.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but what if you like, is there a guy that you could ship out on the Niners and return rather than get it up on your coveted graphics?
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: Would you would you trade your own genics?
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, that's kind of the one right.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: What were else do you have anything it depends, I guess, on Ricky Pierce Hall's health and Brandon, I came back.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you think those guys are going to be healthy in two weeks at the trade deadline, then yeah, probably it's for it because obviously he's not happy.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: Last game he did not have a good game.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: He bottle that pass because I got picked off.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: He missed it.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Block here, there are two first down catches.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: What's that?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: You caught two first downs.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's what he does, right?
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see him as a, as a, as a, of the serving force and locker, I think he's a good guy.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, but he's not signed, and he knows he's not going to long-term deal with the nighters.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: Um, do you have, uh, some, you have depth that safety, do you have depth that running back?
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: Cause Jordan James and Isaac Rendo don't see the light of day on the field on offense anymore, or yet this season yet.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, also, but you also know that you need running
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: you know, hopefully, McAfric can keep it up, but I think you can't give up the depth there as you can, maybe it's safety and some other stuff.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is interesting thought.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I mean, there's some teams who you go, what do they, you know, that it makes it in way, in a way, a little harder to find a trade partner, right?
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: A fourth, a fourth, a third round pick is the same to everybody, join Jennings, that now you've, it's a specific,
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it's like, but I think at some point, like some of these teams will start to say, okay, let's cut bait, let's go, let's get this, let's get, and the, you know, Lynch has been up front saying they've been working the trademark it for a couple of weeks now.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like they're going to back off.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're winning, they have every right to go.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: Every year they make a trade.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: So why would they not do this here because they're in contention and they are very thin at a lot of spots.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: They're in second place in the NFC.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: What do you mean?
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, in the NFC, but they're a top the NFC.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: The whole NFC West, I mean, are you kidding this?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: Three teams at five and two, and I know the diners have the tiebreaker for now.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: For now, if they don't hold that tiebreaker, if those teams match them, it's gonna come down to common opponents.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: And the diners have done really well against common opponents already.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: And the diners have a couple losses that the Rams don't.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: So that's just something also kind of keep in mind.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, I mean, they've beaten Houston, right?
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the Rams beat Houston in the opener.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a double big one this week.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: They beat the cults who the United States will play on Monday night in December.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: And they beat the jacks, who we know the 49ers lost too.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: So now, and they've got to buy and they play the Saints.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: They still play Tampa.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, we're still far away from that.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's a start now.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: So positivity wise, you got the trades coming.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: You got Ricky Pierce coming back and I wouldn't imagine Bram and I could be back in the next couple of weeks because he's still doing rehab.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's no like warning signs that he's off not not participating because every whatever every Friday when John Thursday John Lynch is on the radio saying hi, it's on out there working out this morning.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think they just know that he's only a year removed from a major knee injury and they probably said we're holding this deadline no matter what we can't rush them back.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm and I'm fine with that.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, and I ran and hopefully is not fine with that.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: You want him to get going on the field.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you'd love from to come back, I think, in three weeks against the Rams, the Rams and the Cardinals.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, having the head-to-head type record so significant, I agree.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: But then you, like you, you know, this is the point you're making, it's like, but you got to win the second one, or else.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: It goes away.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, yeah.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: But at least they got the first out of, you know, are they the only NSQS team that's played every division of opponents, I think, because the Rams have only played like one, so that's
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's in their favor, too, because the other teams might cannibalize themselves to.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the C Hawks and the, and the, and the ramps still play twice.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's a great way, and that's, you know, we talk about the best way to get to the postseason is the when you're division games.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: Take care of the division first.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Mike Nolan win the West.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't remember that.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: I was saying they had a big banner outside the on the way into the locker that had win the West.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that may have been, that may have replaced the role in with Nolan, Banner, that was a little corny.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: Where did I read somebody this week?
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody wrote, or I just saw a snippet of, one time, the Falcons came in with Jerry Glanville, and he was really proud of the fact that they'd beaten like the Raiders and the Rams, and he brought with them on their own sidelines, some like California Champions trophy.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, is that right?
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that would make sense.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: I would try and somebody.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the nighters and he realized it.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: The quote from Jerry was like, he realized he'd miscalculated when he saw how much it pissed off the 49ers before the game, maybe Dion or some of that remember who saw it before the game.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, that's I wish coaches had that kind of swagger and did that kind of.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: like open motivation stuff.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Dan Campbell's probably as close as you can get to it.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's very, it's collegial, you know.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think Kyle's past that Kyle's just like, dude, I'm just trying to figure out who's still healthy that I can put on the field.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, it's, it's easy to say he's the coach of the year.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's also too early for that, but the one thing I'll say, Kim, is the coach of the year typically is a guy who coaches a team that people didn't think was going to be that good, right?
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's rarely the chiefs of the favorite and they win 14 games and Andy reads the coach of the year.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the Brown's, that's why it's the fanski's won it twice.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like, dude, this guy, which is the Brown's.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Give him the trophy.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't, my point, my question is that so much about the coach of the
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: It has been a, it's been a signature Shanahan year so far.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes those years come in years where you're not in the Super Bowl and so far.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I think I do think the credit to Salas is deserved.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: With a young team, if you only get Robert for one year to have him with a team this young teaching football is really valuable.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's not just us saying that though.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's the players themselves saying it.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that carries weight and other experts around the league can say that too.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then when they lose, people will back away and say, I think they make it a lot so good.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's just how it goes.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: And one of them players saying, the players are like, well, heck, George Kilsson right after the game, you know, when he was asked if it's a gritty team said, well, the Mac Jones has done great.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then Robert's Hall is free to pick up up the year.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just like,
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, fast to Kyle, but yes, I mean, that's like a shell game going on on defense and what's who's around?
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: And finally, like, there's everybody who's just really glad to see that activity of blitzing and not blitzing and blitzing and finally, just put some pressure on a young quarterback that they're going to have to do and and Houston again.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: Because these days, they're absolutely terrible on Monday night.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the offense itself, like really bad in Houston.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: So the Niners need to seize on that.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: And the Texans could be loud a couple more guys, but that offensive line wasn't great.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: The Niners defense of line is going to be missing, but both you're missing, you'd are gross models probably again.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: And you're missing, missing Bryce, tough who,
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: really is having a pretty darn good year.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: So the other guys that we're going to be in there needed to step it up.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: This got to be my kill Williams has to kind of have a big breakout game.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think for him.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Cam.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: Are you, will you be there?
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: Will you be in Houston?
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: You wouldn't.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm bringing my son for his 18th birthday.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: Gotta look, gotta find a party.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Do they have a Benny Hanna in Houston?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: They've got to come on.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: To me, any NBA city has a Benny Hanna.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: But that, I don't think he can do Benny Han and, I mean, there's, there's probably like a steakhouse on every corner, like there's a coffee shop on every corner and see how.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: uh... they definitely they have they have been in and you confirmed there's been in the industry i mean we got to meet if you want to know where's the behana be like find the nba hotel and goes within six blocks radius there's a bit of it and uh... and uh... which that change day counts all the nba guys love the uh... uh... not mortgums which warrants ruse christ all the nba guys love ruse christ yeah well we can maybe get a sponsor for this segment we have one it's plesto yes wonderful plesto
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: You can get that over by whole foods when you're in Santa Clara right off great American Parkway.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: What could you?
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a very nice looking place.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a great place.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I recommend you go.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: I believe they also have a taco stand inside the San Diego Park Park.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: They sure do.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: Those are maize.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: That was like when I first had it, because that might be the best taco I've ever had.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you are definitely coming back on the, you are definitely being welcome back on this show.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: Anytime.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, you hooked me on Tito's now.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: I got to get hooked me on past those.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Cam, thanks for making time.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great separate day weekend.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: OK, thanks, Jen.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: Good talking to you.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Likewise.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: OK, bye.
