- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. It's the only saying this podcast. It's Ashley
- 0:08Speaker 1: and Ben back with you, and we're going to do
- 0:10Speaker 1: a listener Q and A. I'm going to start this
- 0:13Speaker 1: question for Ben, Ben, do you want your next child
- 0:18Speaker 1: to be a girl or a boy?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Such a good question.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I have the answer for you.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I really kind of just want girls.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I just want your next to be a girl too.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I really have a thing about girls having sisters, and
- 0:31Speaker 1: I love girls having sisters close in age, so I
- 0:34Speaker 1: would I would love.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Oh you want to answer this for me?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah I did. That was not my intention, but now
- 0:40Speaker 1: it's sort of it. Yes, I have an opinion, is
- 0:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I mean, there is there's such a huge side of
- 0:45Speaker 2: me that wants a boy obviously, like to rough house
- 0:48Speaker 2: and to do all those things with But after experiencing Winnie,
- 0:54Speaker 2: I really just like, I don't know, I love the
- 0:57Speaker 2: process of having a little girl in my life and
- 1:00Speaker 2: snuggling her and I don't know, getting her gifts that
- 1:04Speaker 2: are like right now, very princess themed. I don't know,
- 1:09Speaker 2: it's been really fun for me to have a girl.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I didn't I didn't know, but and so it's hard
- 1:12Speaker 2: for me to think about having a boy. But I
- 1:13Speaker 2: would say if I get to choose, I'd be totally
- 1:16Speaker 2: fine being a complete girl dad like straight through.
- 1:19Speaker 1: That's so sweet, Ben, I love that I see you
- 1:22Speaker 1: with all girls. Like I've said before, very Danny Tanner vibes,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I could like see you with the girls. It's like
- 1:29Speaker 1: the greatest compliment.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Right, he's so unsexy.
- 1:32Speaker 1: No, no, he is very unsexy. He's so right, but
- 1:38Speaker 1: he radiates so much warmth and like goodness. Okay, comfort, yeah,
- 1:43Speaker 1: comfort so much so as do you? Did you watch
- 1:48Speaker 1: Barby's World too as a kid. Oh yeah, So between
- 1:51Speaker 1: Danny Tanner and then Alan the Boy, you know, the
- 1:54Speaker 1: dad for Boby the World. I love Alan too. I
- 1:57Speaker 1: can't really pick which one. They give such different vibes,
- 2:00Speaker 1: but they're both equally wonderful.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I've always seen myself as more of a mister Feenie, but.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I can see you as mister feeni too, as you
- 2:10Speaker 1: just love the older crob. I'm all about love to
- 2:14Speaker 1: giving wisdom. That was from Renee Chang.
- 2:17Speaker 2: The next question is for me as well, I guess,
- 2:19Speaker 2: so Ashley take it away.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Okay, Ben, has anyone ever told you like Adam Brody,
- 2:23Speaker 1: You're like the Christian version of the real life Seth Collin.
- 2:28Speaker 1: That's so funny. Okay. So Adam Brody always, well, not always,
- 2:31Speaker 1: but has notoriously played two Jewish characters. He is and
- 2:38Speaker 1: he plays into that role so well. I just don't
- 2:43Speaker 1: think you really look like Adam Birdie.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I've never got I mean, I've never really gotten Adam Brody.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I used to get. Yeah, I don't get a lot
- 2:51Speaker 2: of celebrity lookites. I've gotten Jim Carrey, but he.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Would never ever think I don't think so.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I don't think so either. But then I got the guy,
- 3:03Speaker 2: oh from the Brady bunch a.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Bu see, that's who you do like. You look like
- 3:10Speaker 1: Peter Brady. I've always thought you looked like Peter Brady.
- 3:12Speaker 2: You've always thought that. I've also back in the day,
- 3:15Speaker 2: and I do see this. When I was in high school,
- 3:18Speaker 2: he was in like some of the vampire shows. He
- 3:21Speaker 2: was a huge deal back in the day, the guy.
- 3:23Speaker 1: From Vampire Diaries, not the not the Ian Summer Holder,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but the other one who I'm sure Heather knows, which
- 3:32Speaker 1: is who was it?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Let me look No, this isn't him. Not Paul Wesley.
- 3:38Speaker 1: No, not Paul Wesley. Okay, no, this.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Dude is like I'm saying, I'm thinking Prince, but that's
- 3:43Speaker 2: oh Freddie Prince junior.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, I could see Freddy. I could see
- 3:47Speaker 1: Freddy Prince Junior. Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I used to get that a lot when high school.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And actually, if you look at my high school pictures,
- 3:53Speaker 2: you're like, yeah, it's kind of similar, and he was
- 3:54Speaker 2: kind of big back then, and it makes sense.
- 3:57Speaker 1: But also not a vampire Scooby Doo related.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I was wrong on all fronts there.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Oh, I got so funny.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Taysha from Alabama asks, has have either of you been
- 4:09Speaker 2: mistaken for another celebrity? While out?
- 4:12Speaker 1: So related question? But I've never been mistaken for a celebrity.
- 4:16Speaker 3: No.
- 4:19Speaker 1: You know what Jared does that makes me feel so awkward,
- 4:23Speaker 1: And I know why he doesn't. I know why he doesn't.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It's very humble and sweet. But he'll be in the
- 4:28Speaker 1: middle of a country and somebody will say like, hey,
- 4:33Speaker 1: do we go to school together? How do I know
- 4:36Speaker 1: you? You look so familiar, And then Jared'll be like, I
- 4:39Speaker 1: went to Warwick vets In Warwick, Rhode Island, and he's like,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you ever been lived in Rhode Island? Like he legitimately
- 4:46Speaker 1: will go through his entire like high school career, like
- 4:50Speaker 1: you know, his entire I don't know what you would
- 4:52Speaker 1: call like the list of places that he's lived before
- 4:55Speaker 1: saying like maybe you've watched The Bachelor. And I'm standing
- 4:58Speaker 1: there just like Currente when this person's trying to figure
- 5:02Speaker 1: out like how in the world he knows he or
- 5:04Speaker 1: she knows Jared. So that is funny and sweet and humble,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but at the same time cringeler on my behalf.
- 5:12Speaker 2: How do you respond to that? If somebody comes up to.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You, I usually go do you happen to watch The Bachelor?
- 5:20Speaker 1: So then there's a one time and you know, this
- 5:24Speaker 1: is a real haha to me, is that somebody came
- 5:27Speaker 1: up to us and they did Jared did the whole spiel,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and I was like, Jared, do you watch do you
- 5:34Speaker 1: watch the Bachelor? And then the person goes, no, that's
- 5:38Speaker 1: so good, and I'm like, okay, okay, never.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Mind that you just have that famous face Jared, But yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 2: I respond the same way Jared does. I've never known
- 5:49Speaker 2: how to because it happens a lot where people are like,
- 5:51Speaker 2: what do I know you from? And I'm like, I
- 5:53Speaker 2: have no idea what you know me from? Because I
- 5:54Speaker 2: really don't. I have no idea what you know me from?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Do you like coffee? Do you listen to Almost Famous podcast?
- 6:03Speaker 2: We'll get there somehow, but it takes a while. Dana
- 6:06Speaker 2: from Texas asks, when your kids are old enough we
- 6:10Speaker 2: let them watch any of the shows you've been on.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Why or why not?
- 6:15Speaker 1: How do I do I watch? When the kids are
- 6:16Speaker 1: old enough, Yeah, they're going to see clibs. It'll be fun.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I don't understand why this is always such a controversial
- 6:22Speaker 1: question because it's like, yeah, of course, I don't think
- 6:25Speaker 1: it's like that's spicy. We're not on Love Island. Yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I know your kids, Ben aren't going to see you
- 6:32Speaker 1: making out with other women, and like we're not going
- 6:34Speaker 1: to show our kids the same. But like our first
- 6:38Speaker 1: day sure.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Okay, So you're saying with you and Jared together.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah that was you?
- 6:44Speaker 2: That going for you?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah? I was gonna say, like with boys, there's probably
- 6:48Speaker 1: less of an interest in like watching the entire seat,
- 6:51Speaker 1: like maybe there would be maybe there would be I guess, yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 1: it would be weird if Winnie was like Dad, I'd
- 6:58Speaker 1: like to watch your entire season, but perhaps she could
- 7:01Speaker 1: watch Caitlin season and that would be fun.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yeah, parts of parts of it. I don't know. I
- 7:08Speaker 2: don't think so. I mean, I think Winter Games would
- 7:11Speaker 2: be a safe bet for me not here, but I
- 7:17Speaker 2: don't know if anything else. Did you know Bachelor Happy
- 7:19Speaker 2: Hours watching rewatching Winter Games right now?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Oh?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Really, no I didn't.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I got to go back in and listen to
- 7:27Speaker 2: some of their episodes to see what they're saying. I
- 7:30Speaker 2: mean that, goodness, gracious, I can't wait till they get
- 7:32Speaker 2: to the scene where I'm just bawling, just absolutely just
- 7:37Speaker 2: man tears. It's just so conflicted in life, Ashley. I'll
- 7:42Speaker 2: do this when you can do the rest. Maria loves
- 7:44Speaker 2: Icon dream Center asks what do you like about your podcast?
- 7:50Speaker 1: Well? I like that I get to hang out and
- 7:52Speaker 1: talk to Ben every week. It's very very simple. It's
- 7:56Speaker 1: just when I go through my best friends, I was
- 7:59Speaker 1: just like, well, then there's Ben, because I mean, I
- 8:02Speaker 1: can't even imagine not having this platform to be able
- 8:04Speaker 1: to talk to you multiple times a week because we're
- 8:07Speaker 1: just chatting and now are a great time every time.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I would one hundred percent agree. I think Jess asked
- 8:11Speaker 2: me the I kind of did a year in review
- 8:15Speaker 2: and she goes, Okay, what's going on in your life?
- 8:16Speaker 2: And I was like, Okay, I love this podcast because
- 8:21Speaker 2: I do think our dynamic is it was either brilliant
- 8:26Speaker 2: when it was started or it was just the luck
- 8:29Speaker 2: of the draw. But because we come in from two
- 8:32Speaker 2: separate perspective but yet share very common values and worldviews,
- 8:39Speaker 2: I think it brings an element of you're going to
- 8:41Speaker 2: get every angle, but neither of us desire to have
- 8:44Speaker 2: this podcast as a place that hurts people, but we do,
- 8:48Speaker 2: you know, want to be honest with you know how
- 8:50Speaker 2: we feel when we watch some of this stuff. I
- 8:52Speaker 2: love that element to get to talk to you and
- 8:55Speaker 2: kind of the dynamic. I love getting to talk to you.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I also think what I love about podcasting is it
- 9:01Speaker 2: gives us a medium to ask very intentional questions very
- 9:06Speaker 2: quickly to guests that like I don't get to ask
- 9:09Speaker 2: in my regular life to people. I can't just sit
- 9:12Speaker 2: somebody down who have never met and be like, Okay,
- 9:15Speaker 2: so you just had a breakup, where's your heart at today?
- 9:18Speaker 2: That's not something I get into very often.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So true. I do love that we were able to
- 9:24Speaker 1: ask really jersey questions with not much small talk beforehand.
- 9:30Speaker 2: No, no, this is just like a rapid fire. You
- 9:33Speaker 2: get forty five minutes. Let's try to make you cry.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I like that part.
- 9:38Speaker 1: That's so true, And.
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know what, I think for both of us, it's
- 9:41Speaker 2: kept us involved in the franchise during a season where
- 9:44Speaker 2: the franchise hasn't necessarily been reaching out. Yeah, but it
- 9:49Speaker 2: keeps us involved enough that I feel like, hey, you know,
- 9:51Speaker 2: I'm I'm at least still intrigued by what is happening
- 9:56Speaker 2: on this show that I was a part of for
- 9:58Speaker 2: so long. So that's fun. Without the podcast, I don't
- 10:03Speaker 2: know how it feel or how much involvement I would
- 10:06Speaker 2: actually have with the franchise.
- 10:08Speaker 1: That's true, and I like keeping those relationships close to
- 10:11Speaker 1: just because it means so much to me in my life.
- 10:25Speaker 1: All right, Ben, have you ever had a rude celebrity encounter?
- 10:30Speaker 2: This is from Katie from Washington. Oh, I know you
- 10:32Speaker 2: have Ellen DeGeneres.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Oh, Ellen, I thought you're gonna secular rippa.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that one wasn't like exactly like heartwarming they're
- 10:42Speaker 2: kind of back to back too. I think I did
- 10:44Speaker 2: them like in the same week during press. I mean,
- 10:48Speaker 2: I know, you know, you don't want to like continue
- 10:51Speaker 2: to beat it up. I know, Ellen, you know got
- 10:53Speaker 2: some bad rap. And there's a little bit of and
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'm not just trying to be an apologist here, there's
- 10:58Speaker 2: a little there's an element inside of me that's like, Okay,
- 11:01Speaker 2: one of the nicest people I've ever met is Steve Harvey. However,
- 11:04Speaker 2: on set, Steve Harvey doesn't talk to you. And there's
- 11:07Speaker 2: a reason for that, right, He's very busy. He's got
- 11:09Speaker 2: a thousand things going on. He's going back then from
- 11:12Speaker 2: his talk show to family feud, to doing like some
- 11:16Speaker 2: appearance somewhere and doing his own interviews. So there's boundaries
- 11:19Speaker 2: that these people set up in their lives to say, hey,
- 11:22Speaker 2: I'm not going to be talking outside of the show
- 11:24Speaker 2: that I'm filming, and then once the show's done, I'm
- 11:26Speaker 2: going back to my dressing room. I'm not going to
- 11:27Speaker 2: talk to again. That's fair. The two other encounters that
- 11:31Speaker 2: I had that you just brought up and that I
- 11:33Speaker 2: spoke of, they felt more like, Hey, I am not
- 11:37Speaker 2: welcomed in this space. And they're only doing this because
- 11:40Speaker 2: some booker said they had to. And that isn't a
- 11:43Speaker 2: great feeling, especially when you're not necessarily this celebrity and
- 11:47Speaker 2: you're just trying. You're in awe of the things that
- 11:49Speaker 2: you're doing, and then you walk and you're like, I'm
- 11:52Speaker 2: not welcomed here. That doesn't feel great. Okay, So but
- 11:57Speaker 2: still all that being said, those two stand out. I mean,
- 12:01Speaker 2: I'm sure, I'm sure at some of the other events,
- 12:05Speaker 2: like maybe people like kind of like not paid much attention.
- 12:09Speaker 2: But most of the time, I'm like, people have been
- 12:12Speaker 2: very kind, and I've had some great conversations with people
- 12:15Speaker 2: that I've looked up to my whole life. And I
- 12:17Speaker 2: remember seeing I have pictures of my phone from Samuel L.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Jackson and I standing together, and I remember having a
- 12:21Speaker 2: great conversation with him, and even Jimmy Kimmel and I.
- 12:25Speaker 2: He pulled me up to his dressing room when we
- 12:27Speaker 2: talked for twenty minutes even before the show started, just
- 12:30Speaker 2: about life. Like those are cool moments.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Those are cool moments. I can't say that I have
- 12:35Speaker 1: ever had a really bad one either. I think actually
- 12:38Speaker 1: it's funny that you say Samuel Jackson because I think
- 12:40Speaker 1: he did say something sassy to me, But this was
- 12:42Speaker 1: before Bachelor. My sister, my friend and I used to
- 12:46Speaker 1: like stalk out like the Correspondence dinner in DC and
- 12:50Speaker 1: we would get pictures of the whole bunch of celebrities
- 12:52Speaker 1: when they're coming out of the dining room and he
- 12:54Speaker 1: I remember him saying, like I was asking him for
- 12:56Speaker 1: a picture or something and he was like, no, something
- 13:00Speaker 1: that I don't know. So I don't even want to
- 13:03Speaker 1: really call him out for it. Michael Strahan was particularly
- 13:08Speaker 1: kind just in the regard I've had so many celebrities.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I mean not to I'm not like, but in the
- 13:17Speaker 1: capacity that you were just discussing, like backstage at a
- 13:20Speaker 1: talk show. He also like gave me time backstage just
- 13:23Speaker 1: to chat and like face I'm a friend, which was
- 13:25Speaker 1: really special.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's always fun. So yeah, I would say for
- 13:29Speaker 2: the majority of my experiences, they've been nothing but positive.
- 13:33Speaker 2: There's just a few that stood out to me. And
- 13:35Speaker 2: you also have to understand, Katie from Washington, that I
- 13:39Speaker 2: am a very sensitive human and so I feel deeply
- 13:44Speaker 2: and so when I don't feel like I belong, I
- 13:47Speaker 2: might be overdramatizing some of this. I don't have any
- 13:51Speaker 2: like stuff that pops off my head that's like, yes,
- 13:53Speaker 2: this one.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I only met Ellen on stage, and I'm really glad
- 13:57Speaker 1: I only met her on stage because it was great.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's super nice. Yeah, it's like whoa what happened?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Okay at Melanie Campus asks three questions. The first one
- 14:11Speaker 2: is this, do they pre screen to make sure contestants
- 14:14Speaker 2: have the same religious and political beliefs?
- 14:18Speaker 1: No? Absolutely not. I mean as far as I'm aware,
- 14:22Speaker 1: And usually it's not a discussion that's had until I
- 14:24Speaker 1: would say fantasy suites. But I can't say that I
- 14:26Speaker 1: had either of those discussions said fantasy suites.
- 14:30Speaker 2: We have. What you might not know is producer Heather
- 14:32Speaker 2: has a background in casting. Heather, You've casted so many
- 14:37Speaker 2: incredible shows. Do they pre screen for political and religious beliefs?
- 14:43Speaker 3: So, I've done specifically so many dating shows, and I
- 14:46Speaker 3: can say religion is definitely asked, especially if it's a
- 14:50Speaker 3: prominent thing in somebody's life. Is it a factor in
- 14:53Speaker 3: how they match people? No, not necessarily, unless somebody is
- 14:59Speaker 3: like a lead is extremely specific about like I will
- 15:04Speaker 3: not you know, date study that's an atheist that's probably
- 15:08Speaker 3: going to eliminate atheists.
- 15:10Speaker 2: From the list.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Politics, absolutely not. I've worked on so many shows even
- 15:16Speaker 3: after high political election years, and that is not something
- 15:20Speaker 3: that is ever asked. Like ever, you can usually deduce
- 15:25Speaker 3: sometimes from somebody's social media where they fall, but it
- 15:27Speaker 3: is not a pre screen question.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I did an interview recently with the Huffington Post, and
- 15:34Speaker 2: you know, they're trying to talk to me about the
- 15:37Speaker 2: current political landscape and if I had interest ever again
- 15:40Speaker 2: in running for politics. And we went through this hour
- 15:43Speaker 2: long interview. It never got posted, which is kind of sad.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I think it also speaks to kind of speaks to
- 15:51Speaker 2: the climate that we're in. But we get there with
- 15:53Speaker 2: an interview and she's like, you might be the only
- 15:56Speaker 2: like moderate right down the middle person I've actually ever met,
- 16:00Speaker 2: like you actually are right down the middle. So I
- 16:02Speaker 2: do feel like politics would be hard Heather to cast
- 16:05Speaker 2: for because I think there's so much of America right
- 16:08Speaker 2: now that just really like sinners and so like you
- 16:13Speaker 2: can't really pull much out of them.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I agree, and I think that a lot of people
- 16:17Speaker 3: will say right that you can have loving and substantial
- 16:21Speaker 3: relationships with people that do not agree with you. Politically
- 16:25Speaker 3: not have to be with somebody who is exactly the same. Now,
- 16:28Speaker 3: when it comes to faith based that can be a
- 16:31Speaker 3: little bit more of a deciding factor, which is why
- 16:34Speaker 3: it is asked on a lot of shows, and usually
- 16:38Speaker 3: it's asked in the pre screen in the applications that
- 16:42Speaker 3: you guys fill out to be on shows, and then
- 16:45Speaker 3: dependent on the show, you know, the context of the show,
- 16:50Speaker 3: it can be brought up more.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, interesting really. I mean, my faith is obviously
- 16:56Speaker 2: something that would be very tough for me to find
- 17:00Speaker 2: a romantic connection with anybody outside of my faith politically.
- 17:04Speaker 2: If anything, I just love the conversations that politics can
- 17:08Speaker 2: bring about, and so I love different sides. Like my
- 17:11Speaker 2: ideal world is hosting a show where everybody's like discussing
- 17:16Speaker 2: and arguing and sharing why they believe what they believe
- 17:20Speaker 2: without really like any type of outcome. But that just
- 17:23Speaker 2: isn't ever going to be listened to because people want
- 17:25Speaker 2: of course.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Isn't that the view?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Of course.
- 17:30Speaker 4: It could be Bill Maher, Yeah, I think the like
- 17:34Speaker 4: Bill Maher, Yeah, the view might not be sitting in
- 17:38Speaker 4: that seat any you know, as much as we used
- 17:40Speaker 4: to think they.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Were all right, are we going to go to her
- 17:44Speaker 1: second question, which is do you give a get a
- 17:46Speaker 1: copy of the whole season or do you have to
- 17:49Speaker 1: set your DVR. You have to set your DVR, your
- 17:52Speaker 1: Hulu or whatever, and you never get a copy of
- 17:56Speaker 1: your season, which is kind of a bummer because it
- 18:00Speaker 1: says on your DVR, right, and then eventually you'll change DVRs,
- 18:04Speaker 1: like because now I don't have this. You know, it
- 18:05Speaker 1: was on Kivo back when we were on the show,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and now we don't have TiVo. Poor TiVo.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Yeah, TV probably got boughted for billions. They're fine, definitely, so.
- 18:17Speaker 1: We don't I don't have Like, I know that Apple
- 18:19Speaker 1: has my entire season, so if I ever want to
- 18:21Speaker 1: go back and watch episodes, I know that they have
- 18:24Speaker 1: like the whole collection.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I don't get it. I didn't get a copy. I
- 18:29Speaker 2: had a link in my email that they used to
- 18:31Speaker 2: send me and I could watch it. I think it's
- 18:33Speaker 2: like a total of three times and then it kind
- 18:35Speaker 2: of like disappears, and that's I'd have to go back
- 18:37Speaker 2: and find it, just like anybody else would now as.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Lead, were you able to watch your episode before the
- 18:42Speaker 1: show aired.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Though, sometimes unless they didn't want me to okay.
- 18:48Speaker 1: So normally cast doesn't get to watch before their episode hours.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Most of the weeks I did. There's I think two
- 18:54Speaker 2: episodes that they were like, oh, we're having editing issues.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'm like, no, you're not. It's two days before this
- 19:00Speaker 2: thing goes live on national television. They're like, oh, we
- 19:02Speaker 2: just can't get it to you.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Usually the producer will call you and give
- 19:07Speaker 1: you a brief rundown of what you should be worried
- 19:10Speaker 1: about or what you will enjoy in the upcoming episode,
- 19:13Speaker 1: and I hear that with Housewives. I get my episode
- 19:16Speaker 1: before it airs, which is nice but also nerve wracking.
- 19:19Speaker 1: It's kind of you know, cause then you're gonna want
- 19:21Speaker 1: to control it and you're looking white, but once it's
- 19:24Speaker 1: already out there, you can't do anything about it.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I had some pretty contentious conversations after watching some of
- 19:30Speaker 2: these more dramatic episodes during my season with the producers,
- 19:34Speaker 2: where I was like, oh, no, I try to control everything,
- 19:38Speaker 2: not really my place. How much time really elapses at
- 19:41Speaker 2: hometown dates, especially the portion with the.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Family, I don't know, and that's up to you to answer.
- 19:47Speaker 2: You're there all day, you are like eleven to eight,
- 19:50Speaker 2: maybe eleven to nine. It's a long day with the
- 19:53Speaker 2: families and kind of navigating the interviews and the different conversations,
- 19:57Speaker 2: and then maybe you'd sit down for dinner. Those were
- 19:59Speaker 2: in the They were really fun days. I for the
- 20:01Speaker 2: most part, I really enjoyed those because it felt more
- 20:04Speaker 2: real and you're in somebody's home, which is always kind
- 20:07Speaker 2: of special. So that's a long day. Eleven to eight,
- 20:10Speaker 2: I think would be a great estimate on how each
- 20:12Speaker 2: of the much time each of them took. Jacqueline from
- 20:26Speaker 2: South Carolina asks me, I'll let you read that then,
- 20:29Speaker 2: because if I answer the question that I read, that
- 20:31Speaker 2: feels weird.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Ben. Before you became the lead on The Bachelor, do
- 20:35Speaker 1: they make you do role playing scenarios for the producers
- 20:38Speaker 1: in network, like how you would be on a date?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Oh? I thought I was my mind so much? Yeah, yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 2: I was like, WHOA, what a question, Jacqueline. You do
- 20:49Speaker 2: do some pr training, so I do remember doing very
- 20:54Speaker 2: little amounts, but kind of if this question is asked,
- 20:57Speaker 2: how would you answer it? But no, for the most part,
- 21:01Speaker 2: let me just like squeeze in what happens when you
- 21:04Speaker 2: become the Bachelor? You become the Bachelor, you get announced
- 21:08Speaker 2: in some form or fashion. You show up to Los
- 21:11Speaker 2: Angeles about a week before filming starts, and they do
- 21:14Speaker 2: a bunch of b roll with you, and you get
- 21:16Speaker 2: to live your best life. You're like, I love being
- 21:18Speaker 2: the Bachelor. They pay for everything. You go out to
- 21:21Speaker 2: these fancy dinners, you're staying in a nice hotel, you
- 21:24Speaker 2: get room service, you're hanging out. It's great, it's the best.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden the show starts. You're like, goodness, gracious,
- 21:30Speaker 2: this is hard, and that's really it. I remember, I
- 21:34Speaker 2: don't think I've ever shared this. When I became the Bachelor.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I remember the day. I'm very clearly. You show up
- 21:42Speaker 2: to the mansion early because like E was there in
- 21:46Speaker 2: some other places people doing interviews. Then you go up
- 21:48Speaker 2: to the bathroom upstairs Ashley, like the big one that
- 21:52Speaker 2: you see in the show a lot with the tub,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and you get like your hair and makeup done. You
- 21:56Speaker 2: don't get that done every day, but just like for Rose,
- 21:59Speaker 2: ceremonies typically would make the Bachelor, you know, get groomed
- 22:02Speaker 2: up a little bit. And then I got my suit
- 22:05Speaker 2: on and they brought up so much sushi, and so
- 22:08Speaker 2: this whole all the producers and everybody sat there and
- 22:10Speaker 2: ate sushi nice and then the sun goes down at
- 22:14Speaker 2: the time and Chris walks in. He's like, hey, you ready.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I'm like yeah, and you walk downstairs and all of
- 22:19Speaker 2: a sudden, the first limo pulls up. It's not there's
- 22:23Speaker 2: no like prep, there's no planning. It's really just for
- 22:26Speaker 2: me at least, it was like, go out there, sport,
- 22:28Speaker 2: good luck.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Heather is saying kissing after sushi. I think there's probably
- 22:36Speaker 1: worse things, but yeah. That goes with a follow up question.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Chelsea from Wisconsin says, and sorry, that question was from
- 22:44Speaker 1: Jacqueline from South Carolina. This one Chelsea from Wisconsin saying,
- 22:48Speaker 1: do they provide gum mints and mouthwash on the dating shows? Yeah? Yeah?
- 22:54Speaker 2: What was the go to on Housewives? Because during Bachelor
- 22:58Speaker 2: it's listerine strips?
- 23:00Speaker 1: Total Oh, oh my gosh, you just threw me back.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I forgot all about that being the go to.
- 23:07Speaker 2: The go to is listening strips.
- 23:09Speaker 1: We since there's no kissing, really there's it's not really
- 23:12Speaker 1: a priority. We didn't have anything being passed around.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Okay. Cindy from Maine asks what is media training and
- 23:22Speaker 2: how do you do it. I get answer this very quickly.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Media training is pretty much, as you can imagine, like
- 23:28Speaker 2: you're sitting in a room, maybe there's like three or
- 23:31Speaker 2: four other people and they're grilling you with questions and
- 23:34Speaker 2: then they're like digging deeper into the answers that you
- 23:38Speaker 2: give to try to get you frustrated. So it can
- 23:42Speaker 2: be about anything sensitive and they'll and it's actually, I
- 23:45Speaker 2: think very helpful. And you know, executives do it, actors,
- 23:49Speaker 2: actresses before maybe a media circuit, but they just pretty
- 23:53Speaker 2: much grill you with questions and then kind of critique
- 23:56Speaker 2: the answers that you give and to see what gets
- 23:59Speaker 2: you frustrated or not, to see if you get frustrated
- 24:01Speaker 2: or not.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Ben, this is so different than what
- 24:03Speaker 1: I thought, because the only thing that I've done is
- 24:06Speaker 1: just kind of sit on a zoom call for an
- 24:08Speaker 1: hour being like if you're asked something like this, you
- 24:10Speaker 1: know obviously you don't give like the full blown answer,
- 24:13Speaker 1: like don't reveal any secrets, and that's like it. I've
- 24:19Speaker 1: never been having to practice my answer.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I think for me, it was what's gonna fire Bin up?
- 24:26Speaker 2: Like are we going to see him come alive here
- 24:29Speaker 2: or not. It was also you know, there was a
- 24:33Speaker 2: whole mixed bag. Like I just gave example of kind
- 24:35Speaker 2: of the panel, but then also there was that in
- 24:38Speaker 2: the marketing for The Bachelor. If somebody asks you, are
- 24:41Speaker 2: you happy? How are you going to answer that? And
- 24:44Speaker 2: then you answer and they're like that gives too much information?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Maybe answer it this way, and you're like, okay, you
- 24:50Speaker 2: try to remember everything they say. Sometimes you do, sometimes
- 24:52Speaker 2: you don't. Uh, And that's that's kind of the media training.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Ashley Gina from California as do you get tired if
- 25:00Speaker 2: people recognize you from The Bachelor? Have you ever wanted
- 25:02Speaker 2: to distance yourself from the show?
- 25:05Speaker 1: No, I think it's quite obvious, and I love it
- 25:10Speaker 1: when people come up to us. I never ever get
- 25:13Speaker 1: tired of that. It's so much fun.
- 25:16Speaker 2: It's so great. It's just so fun. I think for me,
- 25:19Speaker 2: there's like the the ego part that I love.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Of course, I mean, of course, yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yeah, there's the ego part that I'm like, oh yeah, cool.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I also it's really fun for me actually to know
- 25:30Speaker 2: I did something in my life that people know me from. Like,
- 25:33Speaker 2: I just think that idea is cool. It's a story
- 25:36Speaker 2: that I'm going to be talking about for a long time.
- 25:39Speaker 1: And so no, and it's a love language for me. Yeah, attention,
- 25:45Speaker 1: But not everyone's like us. There's a lot of people
- 25:48Speaker 1: that I'll like hang with and they they're not as receptive.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Just because we're really nice, all right, Actually ask the question, Okay.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Haley from Georgia says, what items are the fantasy Suite?
- 26:01Speaker 1: Is it like the Hideaway on Love Island? Yes, there
- 26:04Speaker 1: are condoms in there, and there's a bottle of champagne
- 26:09Speaker 1: and there's usually snacks and how do you know this.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I've been in two fantasy suites. You forget these things.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Oh I go to the fantasy Suite every night of
- 26:21Speaker 2: my life.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Now, Oh the Hideaway has handcuffs and toys. No, it's
- 26:26Speaker 1: not like that.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Goodness gracious hideaway. Yeah, there's like a bowl and it's
- 26:36Speaker 2: not like an extensive list. It's kind of your necessities
- 26:40Speaker 2: sits there by the bed and just kind of like
- 26:42Speaker 2: creeping over your shoulder as you guys hang out. I
- 26:44Speaker 2: guess that's what I remember. I mean, I've told you this.
- 26:47Speaker 2: But the fun one for me was Caitlin because we
- 26:50Speaker 2: had that bottle of bourbon that We pretty much smashed
- 26:54Speaker 2: that night and then just like snuck out and ran
- 26:56Speaker 2: around the lake up there in Ireland. That was fun.
- 26:57Speaker 2: We had a great time. She's like, she's like a buddy.
- 27:02Speaker 2: She's a buddy.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I just love every time you talk about this fantas
- 27:05Speaker 1: sacelt it was.
- 27:07Speaker 2: It was something.
- 27:08Speaker 1: It seemed like that much of a buddy.
- 27:12Speaker 2: She's a good friend. Chelsea asks you, Ashley, Actually, this
- 27:18Speaker 2: is a question I want to know the answer to.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I don't know the answer to this question. Will you
- 27:23Speaker 2: be recapping each episode of the Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I don't think I'm allowed to do that, So no, what? No?
- 27:32Speaker 2: Can I alone without you using your name on the
- 27:34Speaker 2: title of the podcast?
- 27:36Speaker 1: I guess I think I can lightly talk about like
- 27:41Speaker 1: my thoughts on the episode, but I surely won't be
- 27:45Speaker 1: able to say exactly how it happened in my memory.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Hmmm. We'll do what we can. We'll do as much
- 27:54Speaker 2: as we can, which can't get you into trouble, but
- 27:58Speaker 2: we can push the limits. At least I can push
- 28:00Speaker 2: the limit. We got to get somebody from that team
- 28:03Speaker 2: on the on I mean, goodness, if you don't have
- 28:05Speaker 2: the almost famous podcasting talking about your show is a
- 28:08Speaker 2: show really even existing out there?
- 28:12Speaker 1: I told them that they if they want to sit
- 28:14Speaker 1: on here and tell us what we can and cannot
- 28:16Speaker 1: put out on the air, sure come come do it.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Please be nothing but supportive as always a PR team.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Our PR team was a former Bachelor PR.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Team, one of my favorite PR people that I've ever
- 28:29Speaker 2: worked with, if not my favorite.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I know right, incredible, so sweet. She was like
- 28:32Speaker 1: my friend, Like we would hang out in LA without
- 28:36Speaker 1: you know, having to do work.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you, She'll be friends with you until she trips
- 28:40Speaker 2: you up to say something stupid and then all of
- 28:42Speaker 2: a sudden canceled. Ashley, Hey, this has been fun. I
- 28:46Speaker 2: hope we can do this again. I like answering your questions.
- 28:49Speaker 2: What are you curious about? What are you thinking about?
- 28:50Speaker 2: I'm sure when it comes to the future stuff here,
- 28:54Speaker 2: when it comes to Taylor's season of the Bachelorette and
- 28:57Speaker 2: then Ashley coming on Real Housewives and all the cool
- 28:59Speaker 2: things happening there, you'll have more questions. So we'll do
- 29:02Speaker 2: this again throughout the year. But until next time, I've
- 29:06Speaker 2: been Ben, I've been Ashley.
- 29:07Speaker 1: See you guys.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Follow the Ben and Ashley.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I almost famous podcasts on iHeartRadio or subscribe wherever you
- 29:15Speaker 1: listen to podcasts.
