- 0:00Speaker 1: I know it's is Lulu a puppy not really a puppy.
- 0:03Speaker 2: No, she's three years old, but she's paint size, so
- 0:07Speaker 2: it's like for puppy puppy size.
- 0:09Speaker 1: She's an adolescent dog. Then and now Lulu is Gwen
- 0:13Speaker 1: is here from the Utah Humane Society.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Of Utah and it's Utah Humane dot org. That's where
- 0:19Speaker 3: your mind was going.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Utah Humane dot org. And if you go to
- 0:24Speaker 1: x ninety six dot com slash live you can see
- 0:27Speaker 1: Lulu Lulu is there's some pitbull in there.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah, she's definitely a bully breed for sure. You know,
- 0:34Speaker 2: only a DNA test would tell us exactly what she is.
- 0:36Speaker 2: But she kind of has all the traits. She's a
- 0:40Speaker 2: little short, muscular dog, lots of energy, loves to cuddle.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Anyone who's owned a bully breed knows that they're very affectionate.
- 0:47Speaker 4: That tail has not stopped, and she got here, she
- 0:50Speaker 4: knows where the treats are.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And really beautiful markings on Lulu. How so, she's a
- 1:00Speaker 1: mature dog. Somebody turned her in or.
- 1:02Speaker 2: She was astray or yeah, she was an owner surrender.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Unfortunately she was given to us because the landlord would
- 1:10Speaker 2: not let her stay in home. But you know, she
- 1:12Speaker 2: is a great dog. She lived with children previously, and
- 1:15Speaker 2: we were told she did really well with them. You know,
- 1:17Speaker 2: she did live with another dog, but we were told
- 1:19Speaker 2: they kind of kept their space.
- 1:20Speaker 3: It was a much older dog. She was younger.
- 1:23Speaker 2: She does tend to get a little nervous at the
- 1:25Speaker 2: shelter around other dogs, but that's not uncommon. And then
- 1:29Speaker 2: she also was great trained, and she knows a few tricks.
- 1:32Speaker 2: She knows how to sit, she knows how to lay down.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So she's a really good little girl.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Now, if you've had Lou, how long has Lulu been
- 1:40Speaker 1: at the shelter, She.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Hasn't been with us very long, just about under a week.
- 1:45Speaker 2: In that time, we've gotten her spade and microchipped, and
- 1:48Speaker 2: she's got up to date vaccinations, so she's really ready
- 1:53Speaker 2: to go.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Now. You were saying off the air that when the
- 1:56Speaker 1: puppies and the kiddies they go fat, you can you
- 1:59Speaker 1: can off those outlul Lo's a mature dog, but it's harder,
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's harder for her to find a home, right.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so a lot of our big dogs are medium
- 2:10Speaker 2: to large dogs. I wouldn't call her big Yeah, she's
- 2:12Speaker 2: only thirty one pounds, so she's not too big. But
- 2:15Speaker 2: they're having a lot harder time finding homes these days
- 2:17Speaker 2: than cats or puppies or kittens, so we always just
- 2:21Speaker 2: like to get them in the spotlight that help move.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Gosh, if you said she's great trained and knows a
- 2:26Speaker 4: couple of other tricks, that's so nice. You don't have
- 2:29Speaker 4: to do all that.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And I mean whenever you bring home a new
- 2:32Speaker 2: dog or cat for this matter, they always have a
- 2:34Speaker 2: little bit of transition period, you know, getting used to
- 2:36Speaker 2: the new people, the new home.
- 2:38Speaker 3: But she really is such a good girl.
- 2:40Speaker 1: She's very curious too. Yeah, yeah, really, and you can
- 2:44Speaker 1: tell she's smart. She's bright and full of vigor and
- 2:50Speaker 1: would be a great pet. And just I wish I
- 2:53Speaker 1: could have a dog.
- 2:55Speaker 4: So you can see her X ninety six dot com,
- 2:57Speaker 4: slash live. You can also go to Utah you dot
- 3:00Speaker 4: org and actually there's there's pictures there of some some
- 3:05Speaker 4: of the animals that are available for adoption now.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And they see LULUs on there among others.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Now, you're you were telling us the of course the
- 3:13Speaker 1: Humane Society, uh is it depends on donations. That's that's
- 3:18Speaker 1: how it gets done. And uh so there's a day
- 3:22Speaker 1: of giving coming up, is that right? Yeah?
- 3:24Speaker 2: So today is actually Utah Gifts. Oh it is today, Yeah, today,
- 3:27Speaker 2: And it's a statewide Dave of giving for Utah nonprofits.
- 3:32Speaker 2: You can go to Utah gives dot org and if
- 3:36Speaker 2: you want to see our profile that's forward slash hsu.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You can choose any of your favorite nonprofits to give too.
- 3:43Speaker 2: So there's lots of them out there, from wildlife to.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Well, there's only the Humane Society that's really the only Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Well, and you know, build to your point of you saying,
- 3:54Speaker 4: oh I wish I could have a dog, Well maybe
- 3:57Speaker 4: you can't, but maybe you want to have. This is
- 3:59Speaker 4: the way you can help if if you can't.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yob Yeah, So in any amount helps. You could do
- 4:04Speaker 2: five dollars, you could do twenty dollars, whatever you have
- 4:08Speaker 2: laying around that you want to help out. And there's
- 4:10Speaker 2: actually prize money for the different nonprofits and the categories,
- 4:15Speaker 2: so you know, even just donating helps us win a
- 4:19Speaker 2: chance to win additional money. So jump on there and
- 4:22Speaker 2: check it out, and all that money goes to good
- 4:24Speaker 2: use At the Humane Society of Utah. You know, we
- 4:27Speaker 2: care for nearly nine thousand animals each year, So.
- 4:29Speaker 1: How many how many pets do you have in shelter
- 4:31Speaker 1: right now? Do you know?
- 4:32Speaker 4: Oh?
- 4:33Speaker 2: You know, I didn't check this morning, But on average
- 4:36Speaker 2: we usually have around anywhere from like eighty to one
- 4:39Speaker 2: hundred and twenty. It just kind of depends on the
- 4:42Speaker 2: time of year. But you know, we have around three
- 4:45Speaker 2: hundred animals in our care if you count everyone in
- 4:47Speaker 2: foster care.
- 4:48Speaker 1: So that's a big job to take care of to
- 4:50Speaker 1: take care of them all. And Lulu, is you say lulun?
- 4:55Speaker 1: She comes in very very Lulu, Lulu, shit, can you sit? Sit?
- 5:03Speaker 3: She's like where the care? She goes, She's like, where's
- 5:07Speaker 3: my cookie?
- 5:08Speaker 1: Where's the tree? And just looking looking looking, ah, just
- 5:14Speaker 1: I just love the way they wait expectantly looking. I
- 5:17Speaker 1: know it's coming, I know what's coming. I know there's
- 5:18Speaker 1: a tree.
- 5:19Speaker 3: She has the cutest ears in the world. Yeah, that's
- 5:21Speaker 3: what the chat room is remarking on, is how cuter
- 5:24Speaker 3: her ears.
- 5:24Speaker 4: And she's got kind of that that pit bull face.
- 5:27Speaker 4: But her body's thinner, I think, not not quite as
- 5:30Speaker 4: more lean. She's a petite little lady for sure.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah, And I just love the markings brown and white
- 5:37Speaker 1: and then there's there's a block right on the top
- 5:39Speaker 1: of her head.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Will you turn around for the canon.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Over here?
- 5:45Speaker 3: There you go.
- 5:50Speaker 4: So if somebody's interested in Lulu or maybe a different animal,
- 5:54Speaker 4: what's the best thing to do?
- 5:56Speaker 2: They can visit Utah Humane dot Org for it slash adopt,
- 5:59Speaker 2: or they can come in person. We're at forty two
- 6:01Speaker 2: forty two South three hundred West and Murray. We are

- 6:06Speaker 1: That's really it's a it's a great facility too. I
- 6:08Speaker 1: mean it's oh yeah, and you'll just take people say
- 6:10Speaker 1: here are the animals here, here they are.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Look, yeah, I mean we encourage people to come down,
- 6:16Speaker 2: you know, check out the animals, get to know the
- 6:18Speaker 2: individual animals and if you're ready to take one home,
- 6:21Speaker 2: great and if not, maybe you can find out other
- 6:24Speaker 2: ways to get involved with us.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Or you can see you could you could come down
- 6:26Speaker 1: and say, let's see how Lulu and I get along.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And there's there's a big grassy area out there. You
- 6:32Speaker 1: can go out with a leash and just kind of
- 6:34Speaker 1: mess around and see how you and Lulu get along.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. You know, we have outdoor pens or you
- 6:40Speaker 2: can let them off leish and run around. We have
- 6:42Speaker 2: a sensory garden you can walk them through, which they enjoy,
- 6:46Speaker 2: has different sense and textures for them to play around in.
