- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for having me here, Greg.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited to be here.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited to have you Danielle.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to where you are today with our listeners?
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm originally from New York.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: I started my career in commercial real estate and was in that field for twenty years after living in New York my whole life.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: At thirty six I picked up and moved across the country to San Francisco on my own with no family friends or anybody out here and kind of restarted my life.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: still working in the commercial real estate field.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: And in twenty nineteen, my friend Kristi Allinger asked me to start a podcast with her.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: And that was a big turning point in just saying yes to something that I had no idea about and really no plan for.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: And we started working on that and it just led me to being introduced to a ton of different people doing work outside of what I had done for so long.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: And it kind of opened my eyes to there was a possibility for me to do something else as well.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: And after talking to a lot of people who were coaches and had a very similar story of I have the title, I have the bank account that I want.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting paid.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: I have all of these things and I don't feel fulfilled.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: And hearing that story again and again, I was like, well, this sounds very familiar.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I started working with a coach to decide what is the thing that I want to do next or what else is out there for me.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: And in working with him, I said, I want to do what you do.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like just being able to see myself in a different light by having someone reflect back to me what they saw and what I couldn't was really powerful.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I wanted to do that for other people.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're coaching work focuses a lot on growth mindset.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: How is embracing a growth mindset helped you become a more responsible and positive influence to those around you?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it has changed everything.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I think having a growth mindset was something that I didn't even know what it was honestly until we started, we started the podcast, we started talking about it.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: And we actually did this thing called the growth mindset challenge for a couple of times where it was like, thirty days and you came and you worked on your growth mindset.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: So what are the things that you are giving yourself credit for to learn that you don't actually have to know everything right now?
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: And what are the things that you
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: think that you have to know.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: But if we've realized like we all have the ability to learn, we can figure all of that out.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: And that harnessing that part of using the word yet on the end of anything that you don't know how to do, like I don't know how to
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, read yet, right?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very basic one.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: But like, what are the things that we all, we all started not reading?
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: And now we can, we've all learned that.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: And we can apply that to anything in our lives.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we get to a certain age where we think we can't do that anymore.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: But we do have that ability.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so to harness that is really important.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: that is so true.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: And looking back at your journey, how have your past experiences help you connect the dots and build the confidence to lead in coach others today?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I will say, I think when I look back, I've probably always had a bit of a coach inside of me and was that person that a lot of people came to for advice, for to listen to.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's always been a part of me, but then I went and got a training.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm certified through the Co-Arctic Training Institute and have done a lot of work on myself.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that is what I get to bring to my clients is showing a, like, you can in your forties decide to totally change your life.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a possibility.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a big thing that to be honest, I don't know that I ever would have, like, thought that was going to happen.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: And until I started harnessing your growth mindset of, well, I don't know how to be a coach, but I just don't know how, I don't know it yet.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: I know I can learn how to do that.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I can learn how to build my own business.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I can learn to be a podcast host.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: These are all things that came to me in my forties, not something that I learned when I was, you know, decided out of school when I was eighteen.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what I was going to do for the rest of my life.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I want that to be something that I can show other people because I think we do get so tied down into, well, what are we, what is the plan and having the plan and knowing what it's going to be all the time?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then by doing the things, because I can look back now and say, like, oh, yeah, I did pick up and move across the country by myself, or I did quit my job and start my own business.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: And everything is okay, like I'm still standing and things are really good.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a really great way to look at it.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, resilience is a big part of personal and professional growth.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: What has helped you stay resilient and how do you encourage others to tap into their own resilience during challenges?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think there is part of resilience is having a growth mindset.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: And if you know that we have the power to learn new things all the time, you can get through whatever is thrown your way.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: And knowing that
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: We have the tools to figure that out, not just we have to know them all the time, but then also realizing like we do have to take stock of the things that we have been through and give ourselves credit for what we have gotten through.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so many times we don't, right, we're only looking forward, we're never stopping and looking back.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: And so I really encourage people to just
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Tell their story and really look at like, what are the things that I've overcome?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: What are the things I've accomplished?
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: And give yourself credit for that because there was a day where you didn't think you were gonna through it and you did.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: And when we can realize that like, oh, remember that really hard time that I never thought I was going to be able to get through.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: You did, you're here.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so when the next hard time comes, you can draw on that experience, draw on like yourself and your, your understanding of yourself, the way that you got through that last thing and use those tools to move forward.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Do you share about a moment or experience where you thought you made a positive impact on someone's life?
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: What did it teach you about the power of intentional influence?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think I have so many wonderful clients that I can look to and see like they've made big changes.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: One of the people that's just happened a couple weeks ago, one of my first clients, she ended up kind of taking the same path as I did and not intentionally, but that happened right, she ended up leaving her job, she started up podcast and she's now a coach and she's doing, you know, speaking engagements and workshops and she came to an organization here in San Francisco that we're both a part of.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to go and see her do her workshop.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: And it was just such a grateful circle moment to see that like, wow, this is such a great thing that like I was able to have an influence on her and have and help her to make those decisions, to make those changes in her life where she'd never thought she could, right?
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: She thought she had been doing the same thing forever.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: And how am I going to leave this lucrative job that I've had?
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: But there's this other thing that was calling to her.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: And she took the leap and she did it and she's doing it.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so being able to see somebody really step into the person they want to be and make it happen is really incredible.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Sounds like not only did you have a positive influence on her, she had it on you as well.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and that's I think all of my coaching clients, everyone has it is one of the gifts that I get from coaching is you get to see like different parts of people and learn from them because everyone has a different experience and everyone has something to share that's meaningful.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Danielle, what message are words and encouragement?
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: Would you like to share with our listeners who aspire to make a positive difference in the world, especially those who are still trying to figure out their path or voice?
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just keep, like, dream bigger than you think you can do.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because if I were to tell myself, ten years ago, like, you're gonna be living in California, you're gonna not, you're gonna be working for yourself.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna have a podcast.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I would have thought that was insane.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: But it's all happened.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so now I got to dream bigger than that.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I think everybody has to get out of the things that hold them down of like the responsibilities that we all have and the things that everybody tells you to do.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's so much bigger stuff out there and you have the ability to do it if you just take the first step.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a great advice.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: Danielle, what part of what words would you like to leave with our listeners?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think at the end of our podcast, the opposite of small talk, our tagline is state curious.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: and talk big.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what I want to live with everybody.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Stay curious, go out there and find the things that you find interesting, follow those leads when you find something that you're interested in.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: And have big conversations, talk to your friends, talk to your mentors, talk to your family, have big conversations about the things that interest you.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's great advice.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: Danielle, for our listeners who want to get in touch with you or listen to your podcast, how can they do that?
