- 3:01Speaker 1: finally happened. Dooby on the bootlet Cap Podcast. Right the
- 3:05Speaker 1: fuck now, let's get it yo, Boutlet Cap Podcast Special Guests.
- 3:09Speaker 1: My brother Doobie is here. Yes, sir, he brought a
- 3:12Speaker 1: white claw. He brought some expensive tequila. You wanted the
- 3:15Speaker 1: white claw? That was for you. I would have never
- 3:17Speaker 1: brought that. You call me a teenage girl or something. Yes, man,
- 3:21Speaker 1: he's acting like a college he said, what are you, bro?
- 3:24Speaker 1: What's going on here? Like? Fuck? We brought the class
- 3:28Speaker 1: that he wants a white claw? Yo, I gotta see
- 3:32Speaker 1: look look at him, Look, temporary producer. Can we get
- 3:39Speaker 1: a fucking is a good way to start it off? Right?
- 3:42Speaker 1: I just spilled the claw. Yeah, let me get those
- 3:45Speaker 1: paper towels. That that calls for another shot for real?
- 3:48Speaker 1: All right, let's take another shot. If the podcast has started.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I spilled my white claw. I still think I might
- 3:53Speaker 1: be stripping off shrooms from Austin, Texas. Man, that sounds
- 3:57Speaker 1: like we need I need to interview you about that.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Who yours? Well? Now your table smells like black cherry claw,
- 4:07Speaker 1: black cherry cross, the best clall mm hmm so good.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Well fuck anyway, Doobie, sir, it's good finally have you
- 4:23Speaker 1: on the show. I know we had a couple of
- 4:26Speaker 1: pump fakes. I'm sorry, man, I'm Sorry's all right, you're busy.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You come to LA now you get shipped done, then
- 4:31Speaker 1: you go. Yeah, it's that father life. Yeah. So uh
- 4:37Speaker 1: for people who don't know who the fuck you are,
- 4:38Speaker 1: we're checking this out. There's gonna be a lot of
- 4:40Speaker 1: people check us out. Don't know you are kind of
- 4:41Speaker 1: give everybody a run down where you're from. You know
- 4:45Speaker 1: who is Doobie? So my name Doobie, and make sure
- 4:50Speaker 1: you spell it right. D O O B I E.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I hate what motherfuckers misspelled my name. Irritating to hit
- 4:56Speaker 1: you with the d O B B why you b
- 4:59Speaker 1: Why are those people? Those people are fucking slow. No man,
- 5:04Speaker 1: not at all. Yeah. I'm from Columbus, Ohio, man, as
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know. I mean, we have a lot of talent now.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But when I was coming up and I kind of
- 5:13Speaker 1: popped three years ago on YouTube a song called when
- 5:16Speaker 1: the Drugs Don't Work. It kind of went viral, sparked
- 5:19Speaker 1: my career. You know, back then, we didn't really have
- 5:21Speaker 1: nobody not from Columbus anyway. There's a lot of great
- 5:26Speaker 1: Ohio artists like shout Out Trippy, shout out MGK. You
- 5:30Speaker 1: know is bad from Columbus. Nah, Okay, I don't know. Yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 1: he's not from Columbus. Dead I know. I don't know.
- 5:37Speaker 1: He's from somewhere in Ohio. Right now he says he's
- 5:39Speaker 1: from Columbus, but I don't know if oh, he says that, Oh,
- 5:42Speaker 1: you've just never seen him. Now, I don't know nobody.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I don't know nobody that knows that man from He
- 5:50Speaker 1: was probably like eight years old when he moved to
- 5:52Speaker 1: be Fair, So is he from there? He was born there,
- 5:56Speaker 1: but he said from there, that's fair. A lot of
- 5:59Speaker 1: people be born corrupt. Was born in Philly, but everyone
- 6:02Speaker 1: thinking he's from La exhibit exhibit was born in New Mexico. See, no,
- 6:06Speaker 1: that's crazy. See that's yeah. So Columbus, Ohio, big college town,
- 6:12Speaker 1: right yeap Ohio state buck eyes, buck eyes, that's like
- 6:15Speaker 1: the college. That's yeah. I used to yo anytime I
- 6:18Speaker 1: would like see a bitch at the club. Before I
- 6:21Speaker 1: was married, of course, I used to always say man,
- 6:22Speaker 1: that bitch is giving me the Ohio state fuck eyes.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You ever have a bitch give you the Ohio state
- 6:35Speaker 1: fuck eyes? Yeah? Yeah, Timer two yeah, Timer two right
- 6:38Speaker 1: might have led to something you might haven't. Got nothing
- 6:41Speaker 1: to do with me, fair enough. Yeah, so you when
- 6:45Speaker 1: the drugs don't work as a record, that kind of
- 6:47Speaker 1: put you on. But prior to that, you were grinding,
- 6:52Speaker 1: like because I met you? What year did I meet
- 6:54Speaker 1: Doobie fourteen? Well? No, we met that was it that
- 7:00Speaker 1: I tried to show in Saint Pete with with Jelly? Yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: it was right after me and you met type ship. Yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 1: so you you were kind of on the road, like
- 7:11Speaker 1: kind of soaking up game. DJ Highlight, who's a maniac himself. Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 1: Columbus legend. You know, you know what I couldn't stand
- 7:19Speaker 1: about Highlight? What the error? When he would be on
- 7:22Speaker 1: Instagram covering his face in every fucking photo that DJ
- 7:25Speaker 1: Highlight fucking cool, let me cover my head. I was like, Yo,
- 7:31Speaker 1: why does this guy cover his fucking face and every photo?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Who the fuck does he think he is? Fucking? The
- 7:36Speaker 1: emo shit going on over Columbus? Nah? But so so
- 7:41Speaker 1: you ended up linking with Highlight? What year was that
- 7:45Speaker 1: like into twenty thirteen, eight years and uh, you know
- 7:53Speaker 1: a lot of people might think that like should happened
- 7:55Speaker 1: overnight for you. There was a lot of a lot
- 7:58Speaker 1: of a lot of hard work. What what do you think, Like,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you know, your journey from when you started to now,
- 8:06Speaker 1: like the perseverance, Like, was there ever a point in
- 8:09Speaker 1: time where you were like you were questioning like this
- 8:11Speaker 1: music shit, like whether or not you could actually do it,
- 8:14Speaker 1: like and make a living off of it, Like were
- 8:16Speaker 1: you wasting your time? You know, it's crazy. When I
- 8:18Speaker 1: was younger and when I first met like and shit,
- 8:21Speaker 1: when we first started doing it, we went through the
- 8:23Speaker 1: artist development stage. And at that stage, I believed in
- 8:27Speaker 1: myself so much. I had so much confidence, like it's
- 8:30Speaker 1: gonna happen regardless, regardless. But then you know, it started
- 8:35Speaker 1: becoming work. You know, it was like, dude, you have
- 8:38Speaker 1: to do this. It's it's promoting yourself as getting back
- 8:42Speaker 1: then we were still going door to door selling tickets
- 8:44Speaker 1: and CDs out the trunk type shit, Like we were
- 8:47Speaker 1: still doing that. We got the end of that, you
- 8:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So it was a lot of
- 8:53Speaker 1: work that had to be done. So I honestly was
- 8:57Speaker 1: more motivated than like, as far as I knew I
- 9:01Speaker 1: was gonna make it, and then after it popped off,
- 9:03Speaker 1: I kind of got discouraged because then if the real
- 9:06Speaker 1: works start, then it was like, damn, this is like
- 9:08Speaker 1: the big leagues. You know, it's not you can't just
- 9:11Speaker 1: do what the fuck you want no more. Sometimes sometimes
- 9:14Speaker 1: you got to play the game, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So but but you know, now I've I've I've had
- 9:20Speaker 1: you know, four years seeing how almost four years seeing
- 9:23Speaker 1: how the big leagues work, you know, and it's kind
- 9:25Speaker 1: of like that phase again. I'm getting that that oh okay,
- 9:29Speaker 1: like you got to chip on the shoulder again. Yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: It's it's weird, like I have I don't know. I
- 9:33Speaker 1: always knew though. I always told my mom when I
- 9:35Speaker 1: was a kid, I said, Mom, I'm going to make
- 9:38Speaker 1: it in music, right, And my mom was she's the reason,
- 9:41Speaker 1: she's my musical. I have a music influence. So I
- 9:45Speaker 1: always told her that, and I knew it. I knew
- 9:48Speaker 1: I was going to make it. I didn't know how
- 9:49Speaker 1: or what was it was gonna take. I just knew it.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And then you know, it took a lot. Yeah, so
- 9:55Speaker 1: the things you're talking about where it felt like music
- 9:57Speaker 1: started to be work. I feel like I go through
- 9:59Speaker 1: this a lot talking to artists where it's like, you know,
- 10:02Speaker 1: what are those things that you started to have to do?
- 10:05Speaker 1: Because I think that what you did a great job
- 10:07Speaker 1: of is building with your fan base, converting into like
- 10:11Speaker 1: hardcore fans, and I know a lot of that is work.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's replying to comments, it's dm and people listen. What
- 10:16Speaker 1: were those things that you could talk about that you
- 10:19Speaker 1: actually had to start doing that were like that maybe
- 10:22Speaker 1: like an artist who's watching this might want to start
- 10:24Speaker 1: fucking doing Yeah. Yeah. The main thing, which is something
- 10:29Speaker 1: I still have a problem with because I'm not like
- 10:31Speaker 1: a social media person. The main thing is honestly posting
- 10:36Speaker 1: that product every day. And if you don't have a
- 10:40Speaker 1: fan base, if if you're posting every day the same thing,
- 10:44Speaker 1: they know, say you're dropping the song every week. If
- 10:47Speaker 1: people know you're dropping the song every week, that people
- 10:51Speaker 1: have something to tell people, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and that spreads and if it's good ass music, it's
- 10:56Speaker 1: gonna you know, boom. With the thing that you have
- 11:00Speaker 1: to do is you have to be consistent. You have
- 11:03Speaker 1: to show your face. Like Light used to always say,
- 11:05Speaker 1: you know, out of side, out of mind facts, you
- 11:08Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And that was one of the
- 11:10Speaker 1: things Like me and him used to argue all the
- 11:11Speaker 1: time because I'm like, man, I'm not a social media person.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I don't want to post, you know. But but then
- 11:16Speaker 1: he'll tell me the post and I'll post and you
- 11:18Speaker 1: see all the interaction. I'll be happy, like my life,
- 11:21Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Welcome to my life. Shout
- 11:22Speaker 1: out to brown boy mind. So I just got to
- 11:24Speaker 1: get a fucking TikTok. First video got like sixty thousand views.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It's like it's like yeah, I mean, I hear you. Yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 1: Like those things are important though, and I'm still not
- 11:34Speaker 1: the best at it. But like then, one of the
- 11:37Speaker 1: main things was so like me and the homies, Me
- 11:40Speaker 1: and Light just you know, crash Minati An any of
- 11:44Speaker 1: the homies, Gucci, like we Big Mic Like we used
- 11:47Speaker 1: to always forever big Mic Man. We used to always
- 11:52Speaker 1: hopping these cars together in the van. We had our van.
- 11:55Speaker 1: We had two vans. The first one is in Columbus
- 11:58Speaker 1: and that baby can't go nowhere. It's like bang bus. Yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 1: it was a lot. It was to make dudes on.
- 12:04Speaker 1: There a lot of dicks in that bus. He we
- 12:06Speaker 1: slept on. We slept in the van for two months.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Well we slept in the van for longer than that,
- 12:11Speaker 1: but two months solid that and it ended up breaking
- 12:14Speaker 1: down in l A. And that's how we ended up
- 12:16Speaker 1: in l A. Oh really, the van's in our driveway
- 12:19Speaker 1: right now. Oh wow, Yeah, so the fan broke down.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You're like, fun, I guess we're staying and it worked out,
- 12:26Speaker 1: shout mad Child, because he let us stay with him. Yeah, Matt,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I know, I know you guys, Mad Child. I think
- 12:33Speaker 1: I heard like talking about some like days on the
- 12:35Speaker 1: road with Matt Child, who it seems like an interesting cat.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I love Matt Child. I've never met him, but just
- 12:43Speaker 1: he just seems interesting. He seems like a peculiar individual.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Introvert for sure. Yeah. Uh but how I told you
- 12:52Speaker 1: how just be fucking in this interview, we keep talking
- 12:54Speaker 1: to his over there sitting in chair. That's highlight for
- 12:57Speaker 1: those of y'all want to know. Fucking highlight. Anyway, So
- 13:05Speaker 1: you guys, what tour was that? They're like, we wasn't
- 13:10Speaker 1: on tour at this point. You were just mama through
- 13:12Speaker 1: the country. So Light was on tour with you know,
- 13:15Speaker 1: Jelly Roll and and at this time, I wasn't able
- 13:20Speaker 1: to go on tour, you know what I'm saying. Obviously,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you know only you know, only so many people get
- 13:24Speaker 1: to go. And I was at the bottom of the
- 13:26Speaker 1: poe at this point. You know, I didn't have no
- 13:28Speaker 1: but it was it was all this development time, you know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: build the fan base. But but but that engagement, like
- 13:34Speaker 1: like Facebook was very huge in my come up as
- 13:38Speaker 1: far as building my face my fan base, because like
- 13:42Speaker 1: I got all these people in Columbus to just start
- 13:44Speaker 1: changing it. Like my name used to be do Be Banded,
- 13:47Speaker 1: So I got all to change their name to whatever
- 13:49Speaker 1: their name was, Banded and and and it just started
- 13:53Speaker 1: everyone started catching on. It was the weirdest effect. Like
- 13:55Speaker 1: in Columbus, it was like the thing just listen to
- 13:58Speaker 1: my music. And then I started realizing, I have engagement.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I have to you know, push push it out and
- 14:04Speaker 1: keep it going, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 14:05Speaker 1: was constantly doing Snapchat and all that ship you feel me,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and now you know, I need to get back on
- 14:12Speaker 1: my ship for I've been lazy. You were like, okay,
- 14:14Speaker 1: So you put your album out twenty nineteen, right, it
- 14:18Speaker 1: was like the end of twenty nineteen. Yeah, pandemic hits.
- 14:22Speaker 1: You have a baby, by the way, congrats on the baby.
- 14:25Speaker 1: You stop doing coke? Yeah, And by the way, y'all,
- 14:29Speaker 1: that is not hard to do. It's not hard to stop.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's not hard. No, it's it's it's oh, it's hard
- 14:35Speaker 1: to stop. Yeah. Yeah, but you were busting down. But
- 14:39Speaker 1: I was you was doing a lot of cocaine. Boy,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I was sure I was the cocina man. I'm not
- 14:44Speaker 1: trying to take pride in that. But what it like
- 14:46Speaker 1: like when when you're on like a drug like cocaine,
- 14:49Speaker 1: is it adds? Is it hard to figure out how
- 14:51Speaker 1: to be productive without it after a while? Yeah? See
- 14:56Speaker 1: that's where my problem lied. Like I have, I've been
- 14:59Speaker 1: doing a coke for like seven years and I'm now
- 15:05Speaker 1: almost ten months clean. You feel me, thank you. And
- 15:11Speaker 1: it's like, it's weird because I built my fan base
- 15:14Speaker 1: and my music a lot of it was about cocaine.
- 15:17Speaker 1: A lot of it was cocaine heavy. Yeah, and you know,
- 15:20Speaker 1: to go from that, and that was the inspiration. You know.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I was a couple of lines, right, a couple of lines,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and it was just that, you know. Now you take
- 15:27Speaker 1: that away, it's you know, it's like I'm fining a
- 15:30Speaker 1: whole new inspiration. But I feel good about it, you know,
- 15:33Speaker 1: I feel like you know, it's it's I don't know
- 15:37Speaker 1: but that that drug is addictive, but it makes everything
- 15:40Speaker 1: good everything? Is it true? When you try to fuck
- 15:43Speaker 1: on cocaine, it's hard to keep your dick hard if
- 15:45Speaker 1: you do too much. Now, if you do just to
- 15:48Speaker 1: write amount, you're gonna fuck all night. Now, Cocaine dick
- 15:53Speaker 1: is the thing. Hell yeah, so you like you take
- 15:56Speaker 1: the fucking It's like whiskey dick. You drink too much whiskey. Well,
- 15:59Speaker 1: you know what I do with the whiskey deck If
- 16:01Speaker 1: I know, if I know, if you're getting shitty, I
- 16:03Speaker 1: gotta fuck my wife. I hit the gas station. Get
- 16:05Speaker 1: that that that rhino? Oh my god, you know about
- 16:12Speaker 1: the rhino? Still I don't know. I know about it.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Hey man, that shit works, bro listen, No, me too,
- 16:18Speaker 1: But you can you get the whisk I mean, I'm
- 16:21Speaker 1: at twenty six thirty three, but like yo, you get
- 16:23Speaker 1: too ship faced and you're like yo, I got I
- 16:24Speaker 1: gotta wuin a marathon and I ain't never. I'm scared
- 16:27Speaker 1: to pop a dick peel because my ship work if
- 16:29Speaker 1: I fuck around and pop that, but don't. But if
- 16:33Speaker 1: but if you took too much cocaine, it might not work. Yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I didn't been there before. But but if you had
- 16:39Speaker 1: a rhino on deck. That's why I don't do coke.
- 16:42Speaker 1: No more fair enough, you don't need it, man, stay
- 16:44Speaker 1: hard teams there they're good. No no, but you shout
- 16:50Speaker 1: out to the gay people. I don't want to get
- 16:52Speaker 1: canceled because I like saying no home on bro. Mister
- 16:56Speaker 1: potato head is no longer missed potato head. Man, I
- 16:58Speaker 1: don't know what the fuck's going on. It's just crazy
- 17:02Speaker 1: right now. Like I don't know, its fucked up right now.
- 17:07Speaker 1: So what made what inspired you to stop the drugs?
- 17:12Speaker 1: My son? Having your son, well, my son is is
- 17:16Speaker 1: what made me completely stop. But I had been saying
- 17:19Speaker 1: it for like we're down the last few months, like
- 17:23Speaker 1: we was like tour was Tour was so hardcore. It
- 17:27Speaker 1: was like every day I was off cocaine and you know,
- 17:31Speaker 1: I would wake up, drink a beer, make a drink,
- 17:34Speaker 1: you know, snort some lunes and hit the stage. You know,
- 17:38Speaker 1: it was like it was a repetitive thing. It was
- 17:40Speaker 1: it was how I was being because I'm not a
- 17:42Speaker 1: social person that you know like that, especially when it's
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know, a lot going on or whatever. But I
- 17:49Speaker 1: don't know, man, it was just you. You felt to
- 17:52Speaker 1: getting out of control. I felt like I would even
- 17:55Speaker 1: say to the homies and they'll just be like nah,
- 17:57Speaker 1: because I was the biggest cocaine it'd be like, no,
- 17:59Speaker 1: you're playing bro. I literally down to that end, like
- 18:02Speaker 1: the last few months I was, I would smart coke
- 18:04Speaker 1: and be like, I don't like how I feel like,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'm just tired of feeling, you know, like it started
- 18:11Speaker 1: becoming I was more so because I used to just
- 18:14Speaker 1: do it when I was in the studio and it
- 18:18Speaker 1: was to be creative, and then at the end it
- 18:20Speaker 1: just was I would just find myself doing it, you know,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and going out and let's let's let's let's find a blow.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You feel me, let's figure it out, you feel me,
- 18:28Speaker 1: and we just be partying. Honestly, when we came to
- 18:31Speaker 1: l A, I feel like that's how we build our connections.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Everybody knew we had cocaine, like they party bro. I
- 18:39Speaker 1: met everyone in La off of cocaine. That's crazy. Was
- 18:44Speaker 1: there ever a point in time where you had like
- 18:45Speaker 1: any sort of scares with the ship, like where you
- 18:47Speaker 1: thought you might have taken too much? Hell yeah, like
- 18:50Speaker 1: where you were like freaking out, like I might be
- 18:51Speaker 1: ding And this was the craziest part. Like I remember
- 18:54Speaker 1: one time in Columbus, like like years ago, I was
- 18:59Speaker 1: at my homies mom's crib and we were all just
- 19:02Speaker 1: doing coke or whatever and Bro. I was with my
- 19:08Speaker 1: my other homie Bro. He came through with some pure
- 19:10Speaker 1: shit and we just kept going crazy, going crazy, and
- 19:13Speaker 1: I'm trying to keep up my little ass. You feel
- 19:15Speaker 1: everybody else bigger shit. I'm like, man, my body can't
- 19:19Speaker 1: take this ship. I felt like my body froze up.
- 19:22Speaker 1: So I went out of the room, like laid on
- 19:26Speaker 1: the couch and I just felt like I didn't even
- 19:29Speaker 1: have no body. Bro. I swear to God my heart,
- 19:31Speaker 1: but I just felt my heart. It was just I'm like,
- 19:35Speaker 1: bro fun and and every time I'll be like, I'm
- 19:39Speaker 1: not doing that again, and they do it again. Damn
- 19:43Speaker 1: feel me. That shit is like it's great. That's why
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm saying at first, it's the best thing ever, But
- 19:49Speaker 1: when when then the fun part is over and it
- 19:53Speaker 1: becomes like the real addictive thing. Like you said, you
- 19:57Speaker 1: started doing it in the studio and then it's like
- 20:00Speaker 1: you were just doing it to do it, and that's
- 20:02Speaker 1: what sucks you feel me, And I'm and for in
- 20:05Speaker 1: the instance, I made it cool too to my fans.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And that's how many a when you're on the road,
- 20:11Speaker 1: how many times fans just just to throw your bags
- 20:12Speaker 1: a blow? And that's another bad thing all the time,
- 20:16Speaker 1: all the time. And then you don't know what kind
- 20:17Speaker 1: of you don't know how pure the sh it is,
- 20:18Speaker 1: You don't know what it's pressed with. But I could
- 20:20Speaker 1: have died so many times just off of bad jobs.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You know, we hear the story every day. You know,
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'm cool on trying to you know, worry about it.
- 20:30Speaker 1: If be a liar. I told you I'm going home
- 20:33Speaker 1: to my son. Facts. That's it. That's beautiful things. Are
- 20:37Speaker 1: you gonna end up moving the fan to l A?
- 20:39Speaker 1: Are you staying in Columbus or because I know you
- 20:41Speaker 1: got the crib out here? Yeah, so I'm gonna I'm
- 20:46Speaker 1: gonna move them out here soon. We're thinking about here Arizona.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Actually I was gonna say, you guys, let's all just
- 20:51Speaker 1: do the Vegas or Arizona move because it sucks dick
- 20:54Speaker 1: right now it does. Vegas has zero state tax, zero
- 20:59Speaker 1: state tax. I don't know if on a live in Vegue.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I promise you I lived there for three years. It's
- 21:02Speaker 1: a solid place. Now, mind you. I don't know what
- 21:06Speaker 1: your gambling situation is, because if you've got a problem,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you might not want to move there. I'm not a
- 21:11Speaker 1: gambler also, so you know, I'll go to the casino
- 21:14Speaker 1: every one's a while for fun. Yeah, you'll be fine.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I go there, bro, I spend a certain amount. If
- 21:20Speaker 1: after that miles gone or if I don't make none
- 21:23Speaker 1: a mout Yeah, so I know what them them machines.
- 21:26Speaker 1: But you know what you're done. Like, I feel like,
- 21:28Speaker 1: you know, I have come up in the same world
- 21:34Speaker 1: in aspects because I've been so closely associated with Wolf
- 21:39Speaker 1: and Riz. You know, Rich Rich is one of my
- 21:42Speaker 1: best friends. But I understand that there's this world, of
- 21:51Speaker 1: this white wrap world that seems that it doesn't have
- 21:54Speaker 1: a very high ceiling. And I mean that respectfully. Right now,
- 21:58Speaker 1: that's fat and it shout out to Jelly Roll because
- 22:02Speaker 1: I think Jelly Rolls breaking that mold a bit because
- 22:04Speaker 1: he's starting to, like because he could sing like an angel.
- 22:07Speaker 1: And he's making shout out to je too, because like
- 22:09Speaker 1: when I first met him, he was a different Jelly
- 22:12Speaker 1: for sure. For sure his music is amazing. No, But
- 22:14Speaker 1: but you know there's this like it's like this little
- 22:18Speaker 1: world where it's like Wolf and Rits and Jelly roll
- 22:23Speaker 1: a little wide and all these guys, right, and it
- 22:27Speaker 1: feels like it's a hard bubble to break out of
- 22:30Speaker 1: in hip hop because you know who those fans are, right,
- 22:35Speaker 1: and those fans are hardcore and they'll put money in
- 22:38Speaker 1: your pocket, loyalist fucks some of the layers. But it's
- 22:43Speaker 1: a very like it feels like a very inclusive world
- 22:47Speaker 1: where it's like it's hard to get everybody else to
- 22:50Speaker 1: come into that world. And I feel like you considering
- 22:52Speaker 1: your roots and you know, Highlight being Jelly's DJ, and
- 22:57Speaker 1: you know, we all know what it is, right, Like
- 23:00Speaker 1: you've done a very good job of not getting sucked
- 23:05Speaker 1: into like that bubble. You could be in that bubble
- 23:09Speaker 1: when it's said, yo, look let me go hop on
- 23:11Speaker 1: Trump music three, you know what I mean. Like, but
- 23:14Speaker 1: I do feel like that that is a world that
- 23:16Speaker 1: like like you said, the fans are loyal, You'll be
- 23:18Speaker 1: able to pay your bills, you be able to make
- 23:19Speaker 1: a lot of money. But it's like to be like
- 23:22Speaker 1: that superstar, right, It's it's tough to exist in that
- 23:28Speaker 1: in that web. It sucks, man, it sucks. Sometimes it's
- 23:32Speaker 1: a It's a blessing and a curse. You know what
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm saying. I have some I have the most loyalist
- 23:39Speaker 1: fans I think in the world. I wouldn't trade them
- 23:42Speaker 1: for nothing, nothing at all. They come to every show.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know, they rock the mergency you feel me, they
- 23:49Speaker 1: pay attention, they care about my well being. When I
- 23:52Speaker 1: was saying I was trying to get sober, you know
- 23:54Speaker 1: I have. I have the most loyal fans. I appreciate them.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I want to be bigger. Yes, that shouldn't be a problem.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I feel like you know, it shouldn't be a problem.
- 24:05Speaker 1: But like you said, sometimes it's just the white rapper thing,
- 24:11Speaker 1: and it's that's the sucky part, because I don't want
- 24:14Speaker 1: to just be that. It's like Tech nine and then
- 24:17Speaker 1: all the white rappers. I swear, I swear and shout
- 24:21Speaker 1: out to Tech for legend underground again, Tech is my guy.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'm very familiar with the world. Yeah, exactly. But but
- 24:28Speaker 1: that's the thing, it's literally exactly what you just said,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know what, and that is it's like low key.
- 24:35Speaker 1: A lot of these fans the only black rapper they
- 24:36Speaker 1: fuck with is tech Nino facts yeah, facts, Yeah. I
- 24:42Speaker 1: don't want to be included in embarriers. You know. I
- 24:44Speaker 1: think you've done a good job of making moves to
- 24:48Speaker 1: not necessarily like like I don't see you in that.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, Like when I think of Dube, I'm like,
- 24:53Speaker 1: Doobie could be the next Post, he could be the
- 24:55Speaker 1: next whoever the fuck you want to be? Man, Like,
- 24:58Speaker 1: Your album to me showed me a lot. It was
- 25:00Speaker 1: one of my favorite albums of the year the year
- 25:02Speaker 1: it came out twenty nineteen. Yeah, Athlete, it was in
- 25:05Speaker 1: my top ten and I put it out and I
- 25:09Speaker 1: was like, this album to me was it was like
- 25:13Speaker 1: it was just something that like anybody could enjoy, you
- 25:17Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, because I always fuck with your records,
- 25:19Speaker 1: like I always I always play everybody in Nikki six
- 25:21Speaker 1: because that shits so hard. I thought that shit should
- 25:23Speaker 1: have been a Smasha. That shit it's a cocaine song, right,
- 25:28Speaker 1: but like you're out to me when you put your album,
- 25:29Speaker 1: I was like, Yo, this is like this motherfucker's for real,
- 25:31Speaker 1: for real? Are we doing this at the same dame time? Cheers?
- 25:38Speaker 1: Oh fuck? I had a double bubbler hold on little
- 25:42Speaker 1: double Gold. But also, you know, like you said, like
- 25:48Speaker 1: you you kind of came up in that world. So
- 25:50Speaker 1: what is like the is it hard to kind of
- 25:54Speaker 1: toe the line to make sure you're not like super
- 25:57Speaker 1: associated with the white rat world, which is, by the way,
- 26:03Speaker 1: not a bad world if you want to pay your bills.
- 26:05Speaker 1: And you know, me and Rich have this conversation all
- 26:07Speaker 1: the time. Yeah, I said, I mean, the main thing
- 26:10Speaker 1: that I do is obviously I fucked with my white
- 26:14Speaker 1: rapper homies, you know, like we know who I fuck with.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But I at the same time I tried not to
- 26:22Speaker 1: just do that, you know, like I fuck with my
- 26:25Speaker 1: homies and ship, but I don't just you know, go
- 26:28Speaker 1: to them type of shows all day, you know, shout
- 26:32Speaker 1: out to the baby. I got a record with him.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I I swear veso. We just we just you know,
- 26:38Speaker 1: it was tight. Actually, just recently, I have a cover
- 26:42Speaker 1: to the song Breakdown by Tantric and recently we just
- 26:46Speaker 1: performed it live with Tantri really, which was actually pretty
- 26:50Speaker 1: cool as fuck, so just different during COVID Where was
- 26:54Speaker 1: this ad? Was this in fucking Atlanta? I don't know
- 26:57Speaker 1: where it was? I was, I was in Atlanta last month.
- 27:00Speaker 1: That ship was while the Funk Open Man I freak.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Where was that ship? That sounds about right? It was fire,
- 27:08Speaker 1: It was fun. It was with Tan Trick. Yes, that's
- 27:12Speaker 1: like that. It's like a nineties rock band. Yeah, yeah, ship. Hey,
- 27:17Speaker 1: you know what you gotta do? You gotta do that
- 27:18Speaker 1: Nickelback play you know I'm talking about, which just Nickelback anything.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I don't know I was making. So we all just
- 27:25Speaker 1: want to be big rock star. Photo cause oh photograph
- 27:32Speaker 1: to that rock star. The girls come easy and the
- 27:36Speaker 1: drugs come cheap. We all stay skinny cause it just
- 27:39Speaker 1: won't eat it. That's a song about cocaine. Low key. No,
- 27:45Speaker 1: that's Ikey Bro. That's Bro wrote that. He gonna. I
- 27:52Speaker 1: feel like Nickelback is like the fucking like like the
- 27:58Speaker 1: it's like the Walmart of Rocky is like you don't
- 28:02Speaker 1: want to say you go to Walmart to get your
- 28:04Speaker 1: get your clothes and your groceries and ship, but everybody's
- 28:06Speaker 1: gone to Walmart. I got some t's and some boxers.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, Open twenty four seven, biggest on the block. Like, yeah,
- 28:13Speaker 1: I don't fuck with Nickelback, but I mean, how many
- 28:16Speaker 1: hits of these cocksuckers I have? God bless them. That
- 28:18Speaker 1: one dude with the guy that they got the long
- 28:20Speaker 1: ass hair? What's his fucking name? I don't know. Shout
- 28:23Speaker 1: out to Nickelback. I was, you know, Nickelback is probably
- 28:26Speaker 1: has to be the number one played band at white
- 28:30Speaker 1: strip clubs in the world. Do you ever see a
- 28:33Speaker 1: bitch work a pode of photograph? Because I have, I haven't,
- 28:37Speaker 1: but that's funny. Definitely, Oh my god, it's that classic
- 28:47Speaker 1: kicking in. Look. Look, Hey. The funniest ship this motherfucker
- 28:56Speaker 1: said once was he said he would tongue punch. What'd
- 29:01Speaker 1: you say, tongue punch a bowl? No, you said something
- 29:04Speaker 1: about tongue punching. I didn't say I would. You said
- 29:07Speaker 1: something about you said I think we might have been
- 29:11Speaker 1: talking about our producer at that time. I don't think
- 29:16Speaker 1: I would ever say I would tongue punch anything, but
- 29:24Speaker 1: tongue punch has been in the vocabulary before Hey, tongue
- 29:28Speaker 1: is funny. No, I think we're talking about bro tongue
- 29:31Speaker 1: punching a bum pipe a little bad situation. But oh ship, Yeah,
- 29:40Speaker 1: there's definitely Asian jokes flying around that night shot to
- 29:44Speaker 1: Tony's my God to man, we love the Vietnamese? Do
- 29:48Speaker 1: you love fu? I love it? It's I know he
- 29:53Speaker 1: cuts me off for that shot. Tony. All right, So
- 29:57Speaker 1: you you've taken a I wouldn't say you take because
- 30:01Speaker 1: you dropped a couple of records and videos over the
- 30:03Speaker 1: quarantine and shit, but I feel like you've you've kind
- 30:06Speaker 1: of developed a very high output of music the last
- 30:12Speaker 1: few years, where it's like we get in the song,
- 30:14Speaker 1: we get in the video, repeat, song, video repeat, song
- 30:17Speaker 1: video repeat. How first of all, why did you guys
- 30:22Speaker 1: start to do that and talk about because your YouTube
- 30:25Speaker 1: shit is booming and and I know, I noticed you
- 30:29Speaker 1: guys kind of put so much emphasis on YouTube off
- 30:31Speaker 1: the rip and it definitely, you know, it resonated on
- 30:37Speaker 1: Spotify everywhere else, But like you guys really doubled down
- 30:39Speaker 1: on the YouTube shit. Like why like why did you
- 30:42Speaker 1: guys like really start to dive into YouTube? What was
- 30:45Speaker 1: it about? Like that first record that popped that made
- 30:47Speaker 1: you guys kind of say, look, we gotta drop it.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I feel like every two weeks, you guys are dropping shit.
- 30:50Speaker 1: It was a lot. Yeah, we had a so the
- 30:53Speaker 1: crazy thing is about it. We had a solid campaign
- 30:56Speaker 1: and by the third it was like ten songs. By
- 30:59Speaker 1: the third one it went viral or whatever. Yeah you
- 31:01Speaker 1: feel me boom bro. After that, we knew, Okay, this
- 31:07Speaker 1: ship is climbing, you know what I'm saying. We started
- 31:10Speaker 1: seeing the numbers YouTube sending us a plaque, you know,
- 31:13Speaker 1: fast as fuck, like this ship. It felt like overnight,
- 31:16Speaker 1: but it was because all them years. Bro. Literally we
- 31:22Speaker 1: just know, like out of out of every platform, YouTube
- 31:25Speaker 1: shows the most love, like as far as fan base wise,
- 31:29Speaker 1: Like there's more interaction on on my YouTube, which is yeah, yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 1: which is cool because a lot of artists nowadays, they're
- 31:36Speaker 1: big on Instagram, but their YouTube don't matter. But but
- 31:40Speaker 1: that's the thing. A lot of people think that matter,
- 31:42Speaker 1: they do, you know what I'm saying, until they put
- 31:45Speaker 1: an album out and it sells ten copies and that's
- 31:47Speaker 1: that's That's what I'm thankful for. You know, Like, hey,
- 31:50Speaker 1: my Instagram is popping though, it ain't in the millions,
- 31:53Speaker 1: but my music is in millions. Multi means yeah, So
- 31:57Speaker 1: it's like i'd rather have that. I ain't. Yeah, you
- 32:01Speaker 1: guys are dropping like I feel like it was. It
- 32:03Speaker 1: was it every two weeks. It's like something like every
- 32:05Speaker 1: two weeks, it was a fucking new video song, video song.
- 32:07Speaker 1: It works. It worked. It's because they know that you're
- 32:10Speaker 1: gonna drop that ship. I'm telling you that, they're like, yep,
- 32:14Speaker 1: he drops every week, and it's dope. Yep, I'm gonna
- 32:18Speaker 1: pay attention. You feel me. And then you guys even
- 32:22Speaker 1: started shooting your own videos. Yeah. We we were shooting
- 32:25Speaker 1: our own videos honestly, because like, cameraman be bullshit sometimes more. Yeah,
- 32:32Speaker 1: I'll be hating that ship. Shout out to the bullshit
- 32:35Speaker 1: and that's cameraman out there waiting forever to get the
- 32:37Speaker 1: added bag. I'll be tired of that ship. But shout
- 32:41Speaker 1: out to the good camera man. There's a few. Yeah,
- 32:44Speaker 1: so to now. Right, So, I feel like last year
- 32:48Speaker 1: you had your baby, you quit cocaine. I ain't. I
- 32:51Speaker 1: ain't been doing shit. I've been lazy, bro, I'm be
- 32:54Speaker 1: real been lazy. I've been being a dad and you know,
- 32:59Speaker 1: honestly thinking different, you know, like reevaluating our team and
- 33:06Speaker 1: just you know, building low key, like lowkey, just becoming
- 33:13Speaker 1: more in tune with my business. I feel like when
- 33:15Speaker 1: I was high and so, I wasn't really paying attention
- 33:17Speaker 1: to nothing, and now I'm just trying to, you know,
- 33:21Speaker 1: become more business savvy and you know, grow up. I
- 33:25Speaker 1: didn't even have a fucking driver's license or a car
- 33:28Speaker 1: until fucking what. I don't have my license, damn, but
- 33:35Speaker 1: I got a car though, just got a car? How
- 33:39Speaker 1: many months ago? So a few months ago? Yeah, I've
- 33:43Speaker 1: been I've been driving, but that's awesome. But you feel
- 33:46Speaker 1: you might want to get your license. Yeah, I'm working
- 33:49Speaker 1: on it. I'm not driving out here though. Yay Uber
- 33:54Speaker 1: bro let him drive. Bro. You know how much money
- 33:56Speaker 1: I spent on Uber. That's why I fucking got the car.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I'm tired. That's exactly it needs to sponsor your boy.
- 34:05Speaker 1: What So you just put a new song out today?
- 34:08Speaker 1: It was today, right Friday? Yeah? Yah, so the song's
- 34:10Speaker 1: out song and videos autum. What's next for Dobie. I'm
- 34:18Speaker 1: trying to get this album together. I want to make
- 34:21Speaker 1: a solid album that I feel like is the Doobie
- 34:26Speaker 1: album because I feel like, originally you weren't an album guy,
- 34:30Speaker 1: it was single singles. I wasn't. Then the album drops,
- 34:33Speaker 1: it was fucking great. It was, and so now you're
- 34:36Speaker 1: you're you're like, like, honestly, I was still I'm still
- 34:40Speaker 1: I was still stuck on the single thing. But then
- 34:42Speaker 1: what I'm watching is the as It's like all the
- 34:46Speaker 1: good artists, they'll they'll like spend a hell of time,
- 34:51Speaker 1: you feel me, and just drop a nice ass album
- 34:54Speaker 1: and it'll be you know, track after track, and then
- 34:57Speaker 1: they'll just keep remoting off that album for months and
- 35:00Speaker 1: months to you know, you can you could do a
- 35:03Speaker 1: single campaign off off an album, just like how we do,
- 35:06Speaker 1: but to just be a part of your album, and
- 35:07Speaker 1: then you just can keep I have a feeling if
- 35:11Speaker 1: you were to do a deluxe edition of your last
- 35:13Speaker 1: album and add all of your ship as bonus tracks
- 35:17Speaker 1: on it, you might go gold. That's lightweight, A good
- 35:21Speaker 1: ass idea he bro if you put drugs don't work
- 35:25Speaker 1: all your ship. Let's say you do a deluxe with
- 35:27Speaker 1: like three new records of three brand new songs that
- 35:31Speaker 1: one's ever heard. Fucking make it five. You know you
- 35:34Speaker 1: got five songs. Ready to go, do a deluxe out
- 35:38Speaker 1: deluxe of your last album, just to go gold and
- 35:41Speaker 1: put all the old ship. It's all distributed through one RPM, right,
- 35:45Speaker 1: you guys did everything through the same bro. Y'all should
- 35:48Speaker 1: do that when you dropped the album originally the album,
- 35:50Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I think you guys would be gold.
- 35:53Speaker 1: You'd be knocking on gold for sure. Yeah, let's take
- 35:57Speaker 1: another shot. Hold on you gotta I like that ring.
- 36:04Speaker 1: That motherfucker. Man, that's crazy. That's a good ass idea
- 36:08Speaker 1: gonna lie. I ain't gonna lie, y'all gotta get a plaque. Bro, Listen,
- 36:12Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. So okay, So, just like we
- 36:17Speaker 1: was talking before the interview started, I've been sitting down
- 36:20Speaker 1: with writers and ship. You you know, you told me
- 36:24Speaker 1: how you feel about it. Yeah, but that's the thing.
- 36:27Speaker 1: But I've I've written great records, made amazing songs that
- 36:32Speaker 1: just don't get the recognition. But when you say, I
- 36:37Speaker 1: was gonna say, when you say, they don't get the
- 36:38Speaker 1: wreck because I remember talking to y'all, get recon about
- 36:42Speaker 1: to say, fam listen checked the scoreboard now now, just
- 36:47Speaker 1: because academics don't post some ship who is he him,
- 36:51Speaker 1: But I'm saying I want the I want the plaques.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I just I just gave you a little hack the
- 36:56Speaker 1: little Chico you did. So we're gonna let me tell
- 37:00Speaker 1: you what French Montana did his last album, Montana, that
- 37:03Speaker 1: came out like a year and a half ago. This
- 37:04Speaker 1: motherfucker had like six records on that that were like
- 37:07Speaker 1: four or five years old and went platinum the day
- 37:09Speaker 1: had dropped. He had No Shopping with Drake that came
- 37:13Speaker 1: out in twenty sixteen. He had Lockjaw with Kodak that
- 37:17Speaker 1: came out in twenty fifteen, and he put them all
- 37:20Speaker 1: at the end of this album his bonus tracks Platinum
- 37:25Speaker 1: day one. Smart as fuck. IM about to drop a
- 37:30Speaker 1: double Delok. They gonna think that's a McDonald's meal. Hey,
- 37:36Speaker 1: but it broke easily, do it? What I got so much,
- 37:40Speaker 1: I could drop three triple. All you gotta do is this.
- 37:44Speaker 1: You gotta say, Hey, hey, guys, I know I've been off.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna drop a deluxe of the album and just
- 37:49Speaker 1: fucking you already got videos done. Put the videos out,
- 37:53Speaker 1: Put two or three of those records at the end
- 37:55Speaker 1: of the album. Put all your other shit though. At
- 37:58Speaker 1: the end of the album. I think it's about time
- 38:01Speaker 1: to do the greatest hits. You'll get a gold I'm
- 38:03Speaker 1: telling you if you put everything with what I'm telling you.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I don't know how good your album did, but I
- 38:08Speaker 1: think it did probably well. Right. You put fucking all
- 38:11Speaker 1: those old like all those old records at the end
- 38:15Speaker 1: on the deluxe dog get a plaque. Oh yeah, cheers.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I definitely need that. And you know what's great about
- 38:29Speaker 1: your situation. None of your videos except Burn, they're all
- 38:35Speaker 1: on your own, on your own channel. So for people,
- 38:37Speaker 1: for artists who are listening, if you put a video
- 38:41Speaker 1: out on World Star and it does one hundred million views,
- 38:43Speaker 1: none of those views go towards your certification because it's
- 38:46Speaker 1: not on your own channel. Me personally, I now, in hindsight,
- 38:52Speaker 1: we felt like it was as a team, we felt
- 38:54Speaker 1: like it was the right. Oh yeah, you talk about
- 38:57Speaker 1: putting Burn on war Start. Yeah, me personally, no, high.
- 39:00Speaker 1: So I wouldn't have put Burn on World Star. I
- 39:03Speaker 1: would have put that on my own just because it's
- 39:05Speaker 1: not the right record for a World Star. Of course,
- 39:08Speaker 1: not shout out to Clever because he's he's dope as
- 39:11Speaker 1: fun And that was another thing. We know Clever, he's
- 39:14Speaker 1: he's that's that's his his strong suit too, so we're
- 39:17Speaker 1: also trying to cater to that as well. You know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: Chopper and yeah, you know, but Clever's double Yeah. Also
- 39:25Speaker 1: Clever been around a long time. Yeah, yeah, Clever Loki
- 39:30Speaker 1: log he started seeing recently. Oh, I didn't know. He
- 39:34Speaker 1: just started well no, I just like I remember when
- 39:37Speaker 1: he was rapping with like with that and then he
- 39:41Speaker 1: had the record with uh with fucking the Dude from
- 39:44Speaker 1: Funk Volume the most least popular dude with the Black
- 39:48Speaker 1: Eyes Dame's little brother, he said, the most least there
- 39:55Speaker 1: was like Jared Benon Dizzy right Hopson and then the
- 39:58Speaker 1: other guys. Okay, I didn't know that's what you're talking about. Yeah,
- 40:03Speaker 1: I just seen Demrick last night. I bet you did.
- 40:06Speaker 1: You were at his studio. I didn't know. That was
- 40:08Speaker 1: just like home bab him and Tony Chalk doing an
- 40:10Speaker 1: album together, and that was also mentioned again, shut up.
- 40:14Speaker 1: You know who's old is Demrick? You know me? Oh my?
- 40:19Speaker 1: That motherfucker's are o G. But he looks like he's twelve.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I didn't think he was old. Oh he's oldest, he's
- 40:24Speaker 1: at least what his fucking FaceTime, Demrik, I'm gonna ask
- 40:27Speaker 1: this motherfucker. I love Demrick. Tell goose to him. He's
- 40:40Speaker 1: gonna answer, no, grab it real quick? Can you grab
- 40:47Speaker 1: it from real quick? Do you need a pre roll?
- 40:52Speaker 1: I mean, hey, Joe, will you had me that full
- 40:57Speaker 1: send bag that's right there by that water? Mm hmmm,
- 41:04Speaker 1: can't answer damn full. I'm a texting dang bro I
- 41:07Speaker 1: just seen yesterday. The hell is this? I mean, if
- 41:16Speaker 1: you just want something rolled, I got the fucking pre roll.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Ski's bro Ski. What is this? Just weed? Just weed?
- 41:23Speaker 1: Do you remember the last time you came in here
- 41:25Speaker 1: and I gave you some of that ship that melted
- 41:27Speaker 1: your face off? Well that's not it. For the record,
- 41:30Speaker 1: that won't melt your face off, but it is weed.
- 41:32Speaker 1: So it's good weed. It's good weed. It's just not
- 41:34Speaker 1: the ship that I gave you before. I give you
- 41:36Speaker 1: that turtle pipe, before that turtle pi is that ship
- 41:38Speaker 1: was heat rosta. I got some of that. I mean,
- 41:43Speaker 1: let's bust out the turtle pie. Say hold on, let's
- 41:45Speaker 1: talk weed here for a second. This is the turtle pie.
- 41:50Speaker 1: This is some of the money. Man. Okay, that's for
- 41:52Speaker 1: you now. That my friends, I don't like you might
- 42:00Speaker 1: won't look at this. Shout out to the Turtle Pie
- 42:04Speaker 1: out of the bad man. Where's okay? Yeah, explain to
- 42:06Speaker 1: me where this comes from, because I need a shout out. Man. No,
- 42:10Speaker 1: what is the squad? Oh so you know money man,
- 42:14Speaker 1: that's that's his strain. But he does it with Turtle Pie.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, keep shout out money man. I think
- 42:19Speaker 1: that this ship smells amazing, amazing zingan. Yeah, it's good ship.
- 42:28Speaker 1: So you just dropped the record today, yes, sir, So
- 42:31Speaker 1: we're like, are you back in the campaign mode? Bro? Yeah,
- 42:35Speaker 1: it's gonna be it. Bro, I ain't gonna lie. We
- 42:38Speaker 1: already got the video shot, the records is done. We're
- 42:43Speaker 1: just dropping music now. Bro, I'm letting him fly. You
- 42:46Speaker 1: gotta think I only dropped three songs last year. Last
- 42:50Speaker 1: year and doubled my Spotify play fans and only dropped
- 42:57Speaker 1: three songs. What did I tell you? In there pressing
- 43:00Speaker 1: your line? All right, so listen. So here's the thing,
- 43:03Speaker 1: And I'm completely honest. I don't give a fuck. I
- 43:05Speaker 1: always been I always wrote all my own ship, well honestly,
- 43:09Speaker 1: the past three years of freestyle everything. But I've been
- 43:14Speaker 1: working with writers and ship lately, and you know, you
- 43:18Speaker 1: know how it is. Man, I'm just an artist trying
- 43:20Speaker 1: to create and ship. You know. So, keV, we was
- 43:24Speaker 1: just having a conversation, you know, and I was making
- 43:26Speaker 1: some pop records. keV said what he felt about him,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and it's cool, alrady one of them, one of them.
- 43:31Speaker 1: One of my thoughts was corny for you, and that's fine.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I'm glad he said that. You feel me. Whi's cool.
- 43:37Speaker 1: But you know, as an artist, like artists like me,
- 43:40Speaker 1: I've always been you know, real raw, rough and rugged,
- 43:44Speaker 1: uncut with what I talk about now, I'm just trying
- 43:49Speaker 1: to find I was, you know, trying to find that record,
- 43:51Speaker 1: you know, like you said the plaque, but then you
- 43:53Speaker 1: said some ship to get a plaque. You know, I'm like, oh, motherfucker,
- 43:57Speaker 1: you know this. We could have did this, you know
- 43:59Speaker 1: what I'm saying, this guy, but I don't know. Man. Yeah,
- 44:05Speaker 1: I just had my first few writing sessions. They were dope,
- 44:08Speaker 1: but like you were saying, man, it's important to be yourself,
- 44:12Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And that's what they loved
- 44:15Speaker 1: me for. Man, Hey, what you just said? Did you
- 44:19Speaker 1: drop three songs? Last year and doubled your Spotify listeners.
- 44:23Speaker 1: That's crazy. That's why. I mean, I feel like sometimes
- 44:26Speaker 1: it's so easy as an artist to psych yourself the
- 44:29Speaker 1: fuck out. I'm my biggest critic, but I'm saying, like, bro,
- 44:33Speaker 1: like you're tripping. That's why I tried to tell you
- 44:36Speaker 1: in there. And I'm not even high besides, but this
- 44:40Speaker 1: same shit, like, it's so easy to psych yourself out
- 44:44Speaker 1: because you think it's easy to go on your phone
- 44:47Speaker 1: and check Instagram and see what another motherfucker's doing and
- 44:52Speaker 1: what that means. When you said I need industry acceptance,
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'm like, now you don't, bro, like you got fan acceptance.
- 44:57Speaker 1: The industry will come. I promise you. That's how felt.
- 45:00Speaker 1: But then like a part of me like lately, since
- 45:03Speaker 1: I wasn't able to, you know, have that creative like
- 45:05Speaker 1: I was used to, I started feeling like I was
- 45:08Speaker 1: falling off and like and like I wasn't And honestly,
- 45:12Speaker 1: I would go to the studio and it just wasn't
- 45:13Speaker 1: coming to me, you know. I was it was like
- 45:16Speaker 1: writers block, like never before. You know what I'm saying.
- 45:20Speaker 1: It was just rough, you know, and I got real depressed,
- 45:22Speaker 1: and shit, you gotta think. I'm I'm I'm living. I
- 45:25Speaker 1: went from being on the tour bus for three months,
- 45:28Speaker 1: then I'm at home Corona, locked your baby with my son,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and it's complete, like you know, baby Daddy. It's like
- 45:35Speaker 1: a flip of a coin, like literally like heads and tail.
- 45:39Speaker 1: It's the opposite of this spectrum. Right away, I'm like, damn, bro,
- 45:43Speaker 1: and I had built the studio in my crib and shit,
- 45:45Speaker 1: I'm like, man, I'm still not how I have the
- 45:47Speaker 1: nicest ship and I'm not inspired. Well, I know how
- 45:51Speaker 1: you are too, because I remember how at tentative to
- 45:55Speaker 1: detail you were. You did a record for one of
- 45:57Speaker 1: my artists, and remember I remember how like I kept
- 46:02Speaker 1: you're when y'all came over when I recorded it. You've
- 46:06Speaker 1: seen how it was. I was like, you were by yourself.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Has to be this, yeah, bro, by myself. And honestly,
- 46:11Speaker 1: that's my Steed. You know what I'm saying, that's my Steve. Listen, man,
- 46:16Speaker 1: you know you know what you're doing. Dog? Are you
- 46:20Speaker 1: tossing the blood? The letter would like you to throw
- 46:24Speaker 1: the letter hit the camera, just jeesus, horrible, Ohio state,
- 46:30Speaker 1: my ass hey, I see this all this money through
- 46:33Speaker 1: my ale start Ohio state buck eye. Let's a stop,
- 46:39Speaker 1: and the bitches gave him the Ohio state fuck eyes.
- 46:41Speaker 1: They did that a time or two. Dude, Dude, you
- 46:45Speaker 1: know where I got it though? Is my my English
- 46:48Speaker 1: bulldog already rest in peace? This motherfucker still had his balls.
- 46:53Speaker 1: He had his balls right, and this motherfucker would getting horny.
- 46:57Speaker 1: And you know when your dog gets horny, dude, they
- 47:00Speaker 1: get those funk eyes due right? Could it? Could it?
- 47:05Speaker 1: Could it? I would be like, Yo, the dog's got
- 47:07Speaker 1: the funk Ohio state eyes? What type? You never saw
- 47:11Speaker 1: a dog get horny and try to hump like a
- 47:13Speaker 1: stuffed animal or something. It's like they become a light.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Where is handsome, handsome devil? He got a dog, I
- 47:20Speaker 1: know his name, Devil. Listen to me, ill tongue dog.
- 47:28Speaker 1: You're doing that for rating? I was like, bro, I'll
- 47:34Speaker 1: take your dog home right now and let it cut
- 47:36Speaker 1: it with me all night. Bro, I swear to god,
- 47:42Speaker 1: dog is beautiful. I just want to hold them. Is
- 47:45Speaker 1: your couch like leather? What type of materials your at home?
- 47:49Speaker 1: It's just like it's like I don't know, it's like fabric,
- 47:51Speaker 1: Is it? Okay? It's not leather. I got a leather couch.
- 47:55Speaker 1: You can just wipe the come right off. So this
- 47:58Speaker 1: is where I'm going at with it. Right, we can
- 48:00Speaker 1: all agree, right, everybody needs okay discussing what we're talking about.
- 48:05Speaker 1: You ain't never slept on a leather couch. First off,
- 48:08Speaker 1: you always gotta take your shot because it be hot,
- 48:10Speaker 1: very uncomfortable to sleep on. It's it's hot, I feel,
- 48:12Speaker 1: and then you know when you wake up, you stuck.
- 48:15Speaker 1: You're peeled off. All right, So my big brother shout
- 48:19Speaker 1: out Gucci. He you know he's sleeping on the couch
- 48:24Speaker 1: on that leather. Now, the past couple of nights I've
- 48:28Speaker 1: been up. You know what I'm saying, I've ended up
- 48:31Speaker 1: in the kitchen growing up. A little joint's gonna get
- 48:35Speaker 1: up to use the bag. Hearing it sounds like this,
- 48:43Speaker 1: that whole ass though, Yeah, yeah, draw start to slip
- 48:48Speaker 1: off your ass a little. Hey. But if motherfucker ass
- 48:51Speaker 1: cracked this long long like this, he got the classic
- 49:06Speaker 1: along back and then oh good ship, where were at? Bro?
- 49:16Speaker 1: You don't know? You only got no cool questions for me? Man?
- 49:19Speaker 1: You suck man. Okay, coolest questions, but your changes, I
- 49:24Speaker 1: think your Chang is going to come off. You hit
- 49:25Speaker 1: it on the tape. Brothers, Hey, alright, brothers, you are right.
- 49:29Speaker 1: I should have sent this into you before I came
- 49:31Speaker 1: to the interview question because it's give me your craziest
- 49:36Speaker 1: groupy experience. Dude, my girl is gonna be pissed. All right,
- 49:40Speaker 1: what did he ask? He asked me to ask him
- 49:42Speaker 1: a cool question. All right, let's get it now. You
- 49:44Speaker 1: don't give a listen, Okay, ask me again, though, what's
- 49:47Speaker 1: your craziest groopy experience? Mum hm, dude, I don't know.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I've had a lot of weird wounds. I can't think
- 50:02Speaker 1: off the top of my head. Bro, do you know
- 50:05Speaker 1: what I know? You know? What? Was it personal? You? No?
- 50:11Speaker 1: No, no no, I'm trying no no, I feel like no,
- 50:13Speaker 1: no, no no, I'm trying to think. Well, I do have one. Okay, listen, okay,
- 50:19Speaker 1: and this is crazy because it's funny and and weird,
- 50:23Speaker 1: but not weird at all in in Minnesota. Alright, give
- 50:29Speaker 1: us the Minnesota story. I think it was Minnesota, right,
- 50:35Speaker 1: He's like, I don't know yet. Okay, it's it's kind
- 50:37Speaker 1: has crocs on. He's on a whole different level of
- 50:39Speaker 1: so listen, to me, I'm doing mean Greek. Yeah, okay, listen,
- 50:44Speaker 1: I'm doing mean Greek. And this was my first time
- 50:48Speaker 1: and it's not I'm not on the weird ship. I'm
- 50:50Speaker 1: not being homophobic or nothing. Phil me. This is my
- 50:55Speaker 1: first time ever experiencing the s and then me and
- 50:57Speaker 1: bro you feel me chopped that sh was cool as fuck,
- 51:00Speaker 1: feel me whatever, But listen to me. Two girls and
- 51:05Speaker 1: a dude, okay, and it well, three girls. I'm not
- 51:11Speaker 1: going to be like that. Three girls came to a
- 51:13Speaker 1: me in Greek, right. One of them was you feel me?
- 51:16Speaker 1: Transgender a male, No, he's not changed that. He's a male,
- 51:20Speaker 1: a male that identifies as a woman. He's gay. Okay,
- 51:24Speaker 1: it was you feel me, so listen. He was more
- 51:30Speaker 1: turned than them, meaning like like' and I'm like, okay,

- 51:43Speaker 1: That was very different, but I was like, yeah, m hmm,

- 57:12Speaker 1: but give me the letter first, give me the you
- 57:16Speaker 1: know what's crazy, dude? I always wonder who were like,
- 57:18Speaker 1: who did you grow up listening to? Because you have
- 57:21Speaker 1: like people don't know, like you really could rap your
- 57:23Speaker 1: like you could really wrap your ass off, like you
- 57:26Speaker 1: got some ship that's like real melodic this, you know,
- 57:29Speaker 1: real rock ish like for people who might have tapped
- 57:31Speaker 1: with but you could really rap rap. Like who were
- 57:33Speaker 1: your influences growing up? So when I was a little kid,
- 57:38Speaker 1: my mom used to like hang around a lot of
- 57:40Speaker 1: rock and roll bands, a lot of rock stores and shit,
- 57:43Speaker 1: So it would be like a lot of rock stares.
- 57:45Speaker 1: I'm talking about rappers. I know, this is just how
- 57:48Speaker 1: general that. So she was saying out around a lot
- 57:53Speaker 1: of rock stars or whatever. And my first influence was
- 57:58Speaker 1: rock and road, So it was always I would hear
- 58:01Speaker 1: it rock and roll. And then as I got older,
- 58:03Speaker 1: you know, my dad died when I was five, So
- 58:06Speaker 1: as I got older, like around eight nine ten, type,
- 58:12Speaker 1: I started wanting to figure out more about my father.
- 58:16Speaker 1: And my father was you feel me. My mom was
- 58:20Speaker 1: from you know, like not a good family, but my
- 58:26Speaker 1: papa had had money, but he didn't fuck with her.
- 58:30Speaker 1: She was sent to live with her grandmother, you know,
- 58:31Speaker 1: like a fucked up situation, but she was. She ended
- 58:35Speaker 1: up being good. You know. My dad was like kind
- 58:38Speaker 1: of from the hood feel not even kind of he
- 58:40Speaker 1: was you feel me, from the south Side. She's always
- 58:42Speaker 1: shown your dad a lot of love. Yeah, so his
- 58:46Speaker 1: influence was out cast. Like I remember going through his
- 58:54Speaker 1: CDs and shit, like when I got older, because we
- 58:57Speaker 1: still have the house, like after he died, you feel
- 58:59Speaker 1: me to have the house and it's set up at
- 59:01Speaker 1: the way he left it. Everything's there the way he
- 59:05Speaker 1: left it. So I'll go through his CDs and ship,
- 59:10Speaker 1: you know, be like outcasts the Shack album Shack Shack
- 59:14Speaker 1: diesel Oh shockedd so oh yeah. Ship. He used to
- 59:17Speaker 1: love that ship at It was a lot of at
- 59:21Speaker 1: aliens like outcasts. The best. So when I when I
- 59:25Speaker 1: was trying to tap back in, trying to figure out
- 59:27Speaker 1: who my father was, Like, I knew who he was,
- 59:30Speaker 1: I had heard stories, but I wanted to feel it,
- 59:32Speaker 1: you know, for myself, something like that. You know, I
- 59:36Speaker 1: started tapping in the rap and what started happening is
- 59:43Speaker 1: the weirdest, the weirdest song started my rap career started.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Made me wint a rap and you'll never think it's
- 59:50Speaker 1: the weirdest song. Chris Brown and Jordan Sparks for real,
- 59:56Speaker 1: I swear to God on everything. I love Jordan's Sparks.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: It's how you supposed to breathe with no Yeah, I
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: used to have my headphones on them and I used
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: to love I don't know what it was about the
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: great song Sparks from my hometown. Heard that song and
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I started writing raps to it to no Air and
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie to you, bro, I can't make
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: this ship up. Bro. I literally that song after I
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: had tapped in and learned about my father and everything
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: so much. I had already been like writing little raps.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: That was you feel the little corny raps. I was
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: a kid, you feel me? But then that song made
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: me want to take it seriously. I don't know why
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: no air Chris Brown and Jordan's Sparks. I was an
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: intern at a radio station when Jordan Sparks was American idol.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: What you just aged the funk out of me? So well,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie to you. That's crazy, right, that's crazy.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: What was like the first rap album though that you
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: really like? Like hit you like you were like yes?
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Like for me, it was Dolly Style. I love that.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: It was Doggy Style and both thugs in harmony creeping
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: on a come up. It's just tough because I was young,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: so you gotta mind me, no for sure. But at
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: the point when it mattered, it was the Carter three
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: that's fair, Carter two, Carter three, Carter three, Twarter two. Yeah,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I was at eight. That was when it That was
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: when I was going through the team, you know the
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: That was when it mattered. And that's why like me
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and light we're talking about like lou Wayne is my favorite.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: He's like, man, you don't know lu Wayne like I
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: know lo Wayne and he right because you feel me
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: how boy, Little Wayne, young, little Wayne with block is
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: hot low Wayne fire at agree one that ship you
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: feel whatever Carter three is the ship car Carter three was.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I remember my mom, she was salty. I had you
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: feel me. I got that ship on my I had
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: a little MP three player. She's like, no, You're not
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: supposed to be listening to this. I'm like, no, no,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I gotta get that that ship fire. I can't go
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: to school now here and this ship bro I got.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Back in the day, there used to be in the magazine.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: In the magazines, there used to be these do you
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: remember publishing clearing House? You should be able to get
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: like highlight. You remember this shit. Remember back in the day,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: we'd open the Source and Vibe magazine and you be
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: able to pick like ten CDs for like three dollars.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: So my grandma used to be a part of that shit.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: And somehow they accidentally sent her Doggy Style from Snoop Dogg. Right,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: and I'm like five or six. So my grandma sees
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: the cartoon on the fucking album and doesn't realize. She's
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: so out of her mind she don't realize it. It's
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: called doggy Style. It's about So my grandma gives me
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: this tape. When I was a kid, I was like five,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I was in kindergarten. I vividly remember being in kindergarten
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: and having a walkman. I used to listen to like
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Boys the Man and like all that early Yeah Roads,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: all that early like Brandy, all that early nineties R
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: and B shit. But my grandma gave me doggy style.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Not even known she gave me, but she changed my life.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: My mom playing that ship like doggy style changed my
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: life anyway. Shout out to Snoop, he said, he said
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: what he said? Uh, you have now tuned into the
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: jack Off file with easy fast, she said. He said,

- 1:03:56Speaker 1: One Two, people don't really appreciate my vision. Mm hmm.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Sometimes like I have a vision, I know where I
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: want to go. I know who I am. I know
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: I know who my sound. It's worked for me. It's
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: obvious you can't keep shunning me out. And it's to
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: all the labels who feel like you feel me. I
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: think I'm better than y'all. No, I would love nothing
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: more to sign to a major platform and have somebody
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to have my back. But I really just genuinely feel
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: like y'all don't got my back. And at the end
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: of the day, I'm gonna keep creating the sound, building
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: off of it, and you know what, it's gonna go
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: where it needs to go. If y'all can, If y'all
