- 0:03Speaker 1: Monday with with Maryfield. Let's do it ajas.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Here we are forty percent into the season for everyone,
- 0:12Speaker 2: and do you guys want to guess how many teams
- 0:16Speaker 2: are are more than five and a half games back
- 0:19Speaker 2: of a playoff spot? How many teams are more than
- 0:22Speaker 2: five and a half games away without looking at the standings?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Seven?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Four? Okay? Wait? Wait wait who said seven?
- 0:32Speaker 3: I did he?
- 0:33Speaker 1: You said seven? We I said four? And answer three? Angels, Giants, Rocky.
- 0:43Speaker 1: That's it.
- 0:44Speaker 4: But competitive balance, Scott. But the competitive balance is so
- 0:48Speaker 4: often need a salary cap and we just need to
- 0:51Speaker 4: get all these teams that don't make enough money to
- 0:54Speaker 4: actually make more money.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Well, those teams off and aren't winning the world too,
- 1:00Speaker 2: But we'll see what happens there.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Maybe if they maybe, if at the trade deadline they
- 1:06Speaker 3: traded some people away and went for it, they might
- 1:09Speaker 3: actually win the World Series.
- 1:11Speaker 2: That's a timid front office world. There's only a few
- 1:14Speaker 2: that go bold on trade that line acquisitions. And now,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I mean school might not be available if the Tigers
- 1:20Speaker 2: keep winning a little bit. And he also came back
- 1:21Speaker 2: so damn quick. I mean he's gonna be back in
- 1:23Speaker 2: like a week after the rehab adding did you guys
- 1:26Speaker 2: see that the other day? And then he even went
- 1:27Speaker 2: after the outing to finish up and get to seventy
- 1:29Speaker 2: pitches already.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So thank you, nano needle.
- 1:33Speaker 5: What an incredible thing I gotta feel. And that's going
- 1:35Speaker 5: to be a very popular needle in the next couple
- 1:38Speaker 5: of years.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Agreed, most popular needle since nineteen ninety eight. Too soon, Okay,
- 1:47Speaker 2: let's get to something fun before we start. I want
- 1:51Speaker 2: to see if you guys have ever done any of this.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So Randy Roserena sent a note to a fan or
- 1:57Speaker 2: multiple fans that had been heckling him, and I can't
- 2:01Speaker 2: read it, but he basically was like, I don't understand English,
- 2:05Speaker 2: so I'll love thanks for yelling at me. Have you
- 2:08Speaker 2: guys ever done anything tongue in cheek like that?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Aj?
- 2:11Speaker 2: Did you ever I don't know, say something to someone
- 2:14Speaker 2: like I don't even know what you're saying, or give
- 2:17Speaker 2: them a souvenir even though they had been a pain.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I tried to ignore them, but normally if I said something,
- 2:23Speaker 4: it got too heated, so I just tried to ignore them.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I laugh most of the time.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Only when someone said something funny would I acknowledge it.
- 2:29Speaker 4: But most of the time, you suck. I know I suck. Okay,
- 2:32Speaker 4: I know I suck. Whatever, I know, I got it,
- 2:35Speaker 4: I suck.
- 2:36Speaker 5: So I don't know.
- 2:37Speaker 4: You never bothered me because I thought it was funny. Now,
- 2:40Speaker 4: were there fans across the line. Of course, there were
- 2:42Speaker 4: fans across the line, and those are the ones where
- 2:44Speaker 4: you're like, okay, dude, like enough, But most of the
- 2:47Speaker 4: time it was.
- 2:48Speaker 3: All in good fun.
- 2:49Speaker 4: I just don't understand why fans have gotten to the
- 2:50Speaker 4: point where they feel like now they can see anything
- 2:53Speaker 4: to these players without expecting somebody to fire back at him.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Because and no job on Earth can you go to
- 2:58Speaker 4: someone else's job. If you go to anyone else's job
- 3:01Speaker 4: on the planet and they're sitting there typing on a
- 3:04Speaker 4: keyboard and I'm standing behind them, going, you suck.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You're the worst.
- 3:08Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, they would finally get tired of it
- 3:10Speaker 4: and they would say something. But every athlete is just
- 3:12Speaker 4: expected to sit there and wear it. But it doesn't
- 3:14Speaker 4: always happen, I understand. I mean, at certain times you
- 3:16Speaker 4: get tired of hearing it you suck and put a
- 3:18Speaker 4: lot of other words in there.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I think what Randy did was hilarious. And AJ
- 3:27Speaker 5: was a catcher, so you know he would get his
- 3:29Speaker 5: charps probably in the dugout or something. But when you're
- 3:31Speaker 5: in the outfield, you hear a lot because you're standing
- 3:33Speaker 5: out there for extended period of time just kind of
- 3:36Speaker 5: by yourself, solo, just waiting for a ball to come
- 3:39Speaker 5: your way. A lot of times you don't get a ball,
- 3:41Speaker 5: though it could be the whole game, and so you
- 3:43Speaker 5: got plenty of time to just listen to what people
- 3:45Speaker 5: are saying. And you're on the road and people a
- 3:47Speaker 5: charp at you. And I usually enjoyed talking back to
- 3:51Speaker 5: fans if, like AJ said, if they were funny or clever,
- 3:54Speaker 5: you could tell it wasn't coming from a really malicious
- 4:00Speaker 5: It wasn't really malicious. It was just they were just
- 4:01Speaker 5: trying to get you to acknowledge them. And sometimes I
- 4:04Speaker 5: would because it would just diffuse the situation and make
- 4:06Speaker 5: it fun. And then the tricky thing with it is
- 4:09Speaker 5: once you start, once you open that can, there's like
- 4:12Speaker 5: seem to be about twenty people that jump in because
- 4:14Speaker 5: they all want to get their little two cents in two.
- 4:17Speaker 5: So I agree, it's when it when it's lighthearted, and
- 4:20Speaker 5: it could be fun. But then people will cross the
- 4:23Speaker 5: line at certain cities you go to especially, and you
- 4:27Speaker 5: just kind of let those keep those keep ignoring those people,
- 4:30Speaker 5: because the minute that you acknowledge them, that's all they
- 4:33Speaker 5: want is they want you to acknowledge them. And then
- 4:35Speaker 5: it just spirals.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And if you're Randy, you're lucky. You don't speak English.
- 4:39Speaker 2: You know a lot of players who.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Wrote the note. If he doesn't speak English, who wrote
- 4:44Speaker 3: the note?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Maybe he got his interpreter.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I'm just asking. I don't know. He might not speak English,
- 4:53Speaker 3: but he sure writes English will.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Proper actual proper punctuation in that it wasn't just written it.
- 5:01Speaker 4: There was periods and all kinds of stuff in that note.
- 5:05Speaker 5: It's like the family. The one guy, this hispanic guy
- 5:09Speaker 5: has memorized three sentences of perfect English and then doesn't
- 5:12Speaker 5: know anything else. Maybe that's Randy's go to.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got the same note that he gives out
- 5:17Speaker 2: to everyone that he asked exactly fun, good fun, All right,
- 5:22Speaker 2: let's Charge's charge and Red Sox and Yankees met up
- 5:29Speaker 2: this weekend. We don't have to get too deep into
- 5:31Speaker 2: the series itself. Each side took a game. There was
- 5:34Speaker 2: a rainout mixed in there. The Red Sox are last
- 5:36Speaker 2: in the American League East. They're ten and a half
- 5:38Speaker 2: games back of the Rays and the Yankees. Wondering first off,
- 5:42Speaker 2: which way we think they'll sway? Ultimately is the trade
- 5:45Speaker 2: discussion can happen while we're in June. Jen McCaffery of
- 5:49Speaker 2: The Athletic wrote that the Red Sox should probably be sellers,
- 5:52Speaker 2: but of course alluded to how the American League kind
- 5:55Speaker 2: of sucks so everybody stays in it. She said, a
- 5:57Speaker 2: surplus of catchers means a source told they're shopping Connor Wang.
- 6:01Speaker 1: They've fielded calls.
- 6:02Speaker 2: On relievers, and you know, on the other side, they're
- 6:06Speaker 2: still looking for bats to aja. If they do end
- 6:10Speaker 2: up selling at the deadline or all this, Chatman would
- 6:12Speaker 2: go for a pretty penny. I'll tell you that.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Rolled as Chapman Whitlock right, he would probably go for something.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Sunny Gray. Would you trade a Sonny Gray? Is yea
- 6:22Speaker 4: free agent at the end of the year, you probably
- 6:24Speaker 4: move him?
- 6:24Speaker 3: Right?
- 6:26Speaker 4: They have some pieces, But it still goes back to
- 6:28Speaker 4: this and we sit it all off season. Alex Kora
- 6:31Speaker 4: told me this, and I still, even though he's not
- 6:33Speaker 4: the manager anymore, guess what he said, They needed right
- 6:36Speaker 4: handed power bat. What are they still looking for a
- 6:39Speaker 4: right handed power bat because they have a bunch of lefties.
- 6:42Speaker 4: They have Wilson and Jurists and then a bunch of
- 6:44Speaker 4: lefties that can hit. So it's the same thing for
- 6:46Speaker 4: the Red Sox. You know they're pitching gray, they're doing great,
- 6:48Speaker 4: this and that, but if you watch those games. I
- 6:50Speaker 4: watched the game yesterday, they couldn't get a hit with
- 6:53Speaker 4: guys in score position.
- 6:54Speaker 3: They can't.
- 6:54Speaker 4: They don't hit a lot of homers, and they don't
- 6:56Speaker 4: get hits with guys in scoring position. So your pitching
- 6:59Speaker 4: can only be so good. At some point you got
- 7:00Speaker 4: to score some runs. And they still need right handed power.
- 7:04Speaker 4: They haven't found it. They got to find pieces. I
- 7:07Speaker 4: think they're gonna be sellers, but we'll see.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Looks like it's some matchups tonight. This episode is presented
- 7:14Speaker 2: by Sea Geek. So we've got all night games. I
- 7:16Speaker 2: think it's the eight games on the Monday slate here,
- 7:20Speaker 2: including the Mariners and the Orioles. Emerson Hancock going for Seattle.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Baltimore is starting to play well. Ajay right back then.
- 7:28Speaker 4: They're playing better, but it's also because the mest of
- 7:31Speaker 4: the American League stinks.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So I mean they're playing better. They are.
- 7:34Speaker 4: The Rays have come back down to earth a lot
- 7:37Speaker 4: the Yankees without judge. I mean, it's just, yeah, they're
- 7:40Speaker 4: playing better.
- 7:41Speaker 3: They are.
- 7:41Speaker 4: I'll give I'll give the Oils credit. They're playing better,
- 7:43Speaker 4: but again they're still under five hundred.
- 7:46Speaker 3: You know. The game.
- 7:46Speaker 4: The game I want to see tonight is I was
- 7:49Speaker 4: looking at this earlier is the Brewers in at the Athletics,
- 7:54Speaker 4: and I want to see how Harrison does in Sacramento
- 7:56Speaker 4: because every pitcher seems to go there and gets be struggling.
- 7:59Speaker 3: So I want to see how he does. And also
- 8:02Speaker 3: Sanchez has to go to Toronto. Let's see how he
- 8:04Speaker 3: does up there north of the border. Maybe a crossing
- 8:06Speaker 3: the border mess him up. He's been so damn good.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I get seats there for any of those games
- 8:11Speaker 2: on sea Geek with a nice code at the bottom
- 8:13Speaker 2: of the screen territory ten tem percent off MLB tickets.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Uh yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Kyle Harrison hasn't allowed more than two runs in a
- 8:19Speaker 2: start this year, and his ERA since April twenty one
- 8:22Speaker 2: is one oh five. Is the ra on the season
- 8:24Speaker 2: one five seven, the least talked about cy Young candidate.
- 8:29Speaker 5: With he's pitching, Well, yeah, he's pitcher. Well it's it's uh,
- 8:35Speaker 5: it's been fun to see him do so well. But yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 5: you're like, I get you said, Sacramento seems to be
- 8:40Speaker 5: a weird, weird place where pitchers go to die. So
- 8:43Speaker 5: see how it goes.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and for Sanchez, he's going up against Patrick corbyin
- 8:49Speaker 2: in that Phillies Blue Jays battle. Should be a good
- 8:52Speaker 2: one there. And then yeah, raise red Sox AJ The
- 8:55Speaker 2: Rays of lost ten of thirteen, so this is their
- 8:57Speaker 2: little slump session. They've been good overall at home, but
- 9:01Speaker 2: not as well lately ever ever since I mean they
- 9:04Speaker 2: got swept there by the Tigers. You're looking at them like, uh, oh,
- 9:08Speaker 2: maybe they're not as good as we thought.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Oh, they were just so hot. They were never going
- 9:12Speaker 4: to be as hot as it were. That's the thing
- 9:13Speaker 4: about baseball.
- 9:14Speaker 3: What tell them?
- 9:15Speaker 4: You get so scorching hot and then you always come
- 9:17Speaker 4: back down to reality.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Always, Hey, if you want to take us to any
- 9:23Speaker 2: of the matchups that we just mentioned, Territory one zero
- 9:25Speaker 2: for ten percent off MLB tickets on Sea Geek Red
- 9:30Speaker 2: dot not great, Green dot great. When you're looking for
- 9:32Speaker 2: tickets on the app to make it nice and simple
- 9:34Speaker 2: for you. You can see where your seat's going to be,
- 9:36Speaker 2: how it's going to look from that vantage point.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Go check it out. They know what they're doing.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, i'd agree. I think they'll they'll end up be
- 9:42Speaker 5: in sellers. But it's a weird spot to be in
- 9:44Speaker 5: right now because with the Yankees you got Judge hurt,
- 9:47Speaker 5: so that's that's gonna to flight that offense a little bit.
- 9:51Speaker 5: Tampa's sort of coming back down to life a little
- 9:53Speaker 5: bit there. I think they're going to three o their
- 9:54Speaker 5: last seven, I think in the last ten games, so
- 9:57Speaker 5: they're you know what, what are they going to be?
- 10:00Speaker 5: Toronto doesn't seem to be the juggernaut that we all
- 10:02Speaker 5: thought they were going to be start the season. Baltimore
- 10:05Speaker 5: is not playing great, so it's still a fairly wide
- 10:09Speaker 5: open division with what one hundred games left something like that,
- 10:12Speaker 5: and and again with a wildcard situation, there's just so
- 10:17Speaker 5: many teams in the America League that are just not good.
- 10:19Speaker 5: So what do you do with your Boston? I think
- 10:22Speaker 5: I think you start making having those conversations, but I'm
- 10:25Speaker 5: not sure you pull any triggers. Just just quite yet.
- 10:30Speaker 2: No, And don't you think that crag best loss job
- 10:34Speaker 2: is going to have to do with this too?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Aha?
- 10:36Speaker 2: I mean, if the team doesn't make the playoffs this year,
- 10:39Speaker 2: he's probably out of a job.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So if that's the.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Case and you're within three, four, maybe even five games
- 10:45Speaker 2: of a wildcard, you're probably trying to convince the brass
- 10:49Speaker 2: that you should buy.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:50Speaker 2: You're probably calling up owner John Henry and saying, oh,
- 10:53Speaker 2: this team's got it number of projections, say we're going
- 10:55Speaker 2: to have a much better second half. We need to buy.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Otherwise everything he's been planning for is not going to
- 11:01Speaker 2: really matter. They're gonna can them.
- 11:04Speaker 4: What have we learned about John Henry over the last
- 11:06Speaker 4: few years in the Fenway Sports Group. They don't want
- 11:10Speaker 4: to spend a ton of money on this team anymore.
- 11:12Speaker 4: So there's no way they're gonna let be like Kurk Breslo.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Your budget for the last two months is up by
- 11:17Speaker 4: fifteen million, go get three players. They haven't they haven't
- 11:20Speaker 4: shown her any want to do that. So what's just
- 11:25Speaker 4: gonna raculously change because Chriig Breslo goes in there and
- 11:27Speaker 4: does this or that. I mean, no banks for Rex,
- 11:30Speaker 4: for players.
- 11:30Speaker 3: No, they're not.
- 11:31Speaker 4: They're going to say, here's what you got, make it work.
- 11:33Speaker 4: I mean, listen, Jerry Depoto out in Seattle. He's done
- 11:36Speaker 4: a great job of making it work with his budget
- 11:38Speaker 4: that he's been given every year. You know, Matt Arnold
- 11:41Speaker 4: and Milwaukee's figured out a way to make it work.
- 11:44Speaker 4: The Red Sox haven't figured it out for a while.
- 11:46Speaker 4: And sucks because baseball is better when the Red Sox
- 11:49Speaker 4: are good. I'm sorry, I know people hate that, but
- 11:51Speaker 4: when the Red Sox and the Yankees and these rivalries
- 11:54Speaker 4: are good, it's better for baseball because more people tune
- 11:57Speaker 4: in and more people care.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And they made the ouse last year with but yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 1: so far it's been a step back.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it has. It's weird, and it's it's
- 12:08Speaker 5: like the Red Sox are no longer in that top
- 12:12Speaker 5: tier of a of a organization. It feels like it
- 12:15Speaker 5: feels like I feel that they've always been growing up.
- 12:19Speaker 5: I'm thirty seven and just growing up. It's always it
- 12:22Speaker 5: was always the Red Sox and the Yankees, and the
- 12:24Speaker 5: Red Sox kind of built this powerhouse team to break
- 12:28Speaker 5: the curse, and then they just went on a little
- 12:30Speaker 5: bit of a run and they were just they were
- 12:32Speaker 5: a powerhouse forever and they they're the big market. It's
- 12:35Speaker 5: the Boston Red Sox. Everybody wanted to be a Red Sock.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Everybody wanted to play in finway, everybody wanted to to
- 12:40Speaker 5: wear the bee on the hat. I mean, it's it's no,
- 12:42Speaker 5: it doesn't no longer has that lure, and it's it
- 12:45Speaker 5: sucks and it's weird because you're right, when when the
- 12:48Speaker 5: Red Sox are good, baseball's better.
- 12:50Speaker 3: And they just.
- 12:52Speaker 5: If you want if you're the Boston Red Sox and
- 12:54Speaker 5: you want a right handed power bat, to your point, AJ,
- 12:57Speaker 5: you should go get the right the best right handed
- 12:59Speaker 5: power bat on the market. And there shouldn't really be
- 13:00Speaker 5: anybody that can take that away from you. Uh, And
- 13:03Speaker 5: they just they're not doing that.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, they're still missing with their kind of some of
- 13:08Speaker 2: their best players, right. I mean, they're definitely missing their
- 13:10Speaker 2: best pitcher and Garrett Crochet Roman Anthony hasn't played for
- 13:14Speaker 2: most of the season here. So at some point you
- 13:17Speaker 2: get those guys back, it starts to look like a
- 13:19Speaker 2: different ball club.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That'll help.
- 13:22Speaker 3: They got to get to five hundred.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Well, how far away are they right now?
- 13:27Speaker 3: They're nine games under. Yeah, so they get to five hundred.
- 13:34Speaker 3: They got to get to five hundred.
- 13:35Speaker 4: That's that's my whole thing with every team they're like, oh,
- 13:37Speaker 4: we're in it. The Tigers got to get to five
- 13:39Speaker 4: hundred Before you're actually in it.
- 13:41Speaker 3: You can't. Yeah, you can have a nice run.
- 13:42Speaker 4: But if you're still under, if you're still nine games
- 13:44Speaker 4: under five hundred, if you're the Red Stars, you've got
- 13:45Speaker 4: to get to five hundred.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Is it possible this year that an ALE Wildcard team
- 13:51Speaker 2: is sub five hundred.
- 13:53Speaker 1: It's possible.
- 13:54Speaker 5: No, No, it's I mean, it's possible. Probable, maybe not,
- 13:58Speaker 5: but it's definitely possible. I remember I remember Dayton Moore
- 14:04Speaker 5: telling me in Kansas City one year that they the
- 14:06Speaker 5: way they evaluated their the teams when the start the
- 14:09Speaker 5: year was you needed forty games. After forty games, you
- 14:12Speaker 5: have a pretty good idea of where your team's at.
- 14:14Speaker 5: And we're past that threshold. So the Red Sox have
- 14:16Speaker 5: a pretty good idea where they're at. Grantited, you're right,
- 14:18Speaker 5: they are missing a couple of major pieces, and so
- 14:21Speaker 5: that does factor into the equation. But I think you
- 14:25Speaker 5: got a decent sense of where your team's at and
- 14:27Speaker 5: you need them to turn around pretty quickly.
- 14:30Speaker 3: What you're saying.
- 14:31Speaker 4: So, Scott, here's my question for you. The Royals still
- 14:35Speaker 4: Are the Royals in it?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Everybody's in it, aj, everybody's within five and a half.
- 14:42Speaker 4: The Royals are twenty seven and thirty nine. Yes, I know,
- 14:44Speaker 4: they're only five and a half out of a wildcard.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Are they in it because they have the same record
- 14:48Speaker 4: as the Tigers?
- 14:52Speaker 2: I mean no, If I had to guess, the Royals
- 14:55Speaker 2: are not going to be a playoff time the team
- 14:57Speaker 2: they should be selling the Tigers.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Tigers a playoff team there should be selling.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I think the problem we've had in prior years is
- 15:03Speaker 2: how slow it's been for some teams, and then you
- 15:06Speaker 2: always get one or two that breakout. I mean, the
- 15:09Speaker 2: easiest one to look at is last year Cleveland. Nobody
- 15:13Speaker 2: saw anything for Cleveland the division what fifteen and a
- 15:19Speaker 2: half back, and all of a sudden they storm back,
- 15:21Speaker 2: you know, with covered has covered the blue Jays a lot. Wait,
- 15:25Speaker 2: the blue Jays weren't that good until around this time
- 15:27Speaker 2: last year?
- 15:30Speaker 3: Right? Right?
- 15:31Speaker 5: Yeah, they they did sort of explode, but they you know,
- 15:35Speaker 5: they they had basically there. They knew they're guys that
- 15:41Speaker 5: were going to be there and be there for the
- 15:43Speaker 5: next year of the year after. And so then they
- 15:44Speaker 5: went out and got Bieber and and I forget how
- 15:49Speaker 5: they got the deadline, but I know Bieber was a
- 15:51Speaker 5: big splash, and so they just kind of ran it
- 15:52Speaker 5: with the team that they had, and they just seemed
- 15:54Speaker 5: to peak and get hot. I think the Red Sox
- 15:59Speaker 5: in particular, and Detroit was Scoob Buler in a little
- 16:03Speaker 5: different spot where their guys are running out of time
- 16:06Speaker 5: and they got to make a move.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Thank you, aj the we're Mike checking you the I know,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but I mean.
- 16:19Speaker 4: It's like sorry, it's like tap the microphone, okay, on
- 16:22Speaker 4: tapping it.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Well, we didn't hear it, now we hear it.
- 16:28Speaker 2: The Brewers last year, on June seventeenth, or six and
- 16:31Speaker 2: a half games out, they won the NL Central by
- 16:33Speaker 2: five games. The Blue Jays were as far back as
- 16:35Speaker 2: eight games in the AL East and at game sixty
- 16:39Speaker 2: five they were still four and a half out.
- 16:40Speaker 1: They won the division.
- 16:41Speaker 2: The Mariners were seven games out of the AL West
- 16:45Speaker 2: first place spot on July tenth. They ended up winning
- 16:48Speaker 2: that division by three games. That's a ten game turnaround there.
- 16:52Speaker 2: And then of course we get all the way down
- 16:54Speaker 2: to September fifth. The Reds were six games away from
- 16:56Speaker 2: a playoff spot on September fifth. They still made the playoffs.
- 17:00Speaker 2: As we talked about a lot last year, AG, you
- 17:02Speaker 2: need a little bit of both, you need.
- 17:04Speaker 3: You need a lot of luck, you need a lot
- 17:05Speaker 3: of help.
- 17:06Speaker 1: The Mets fighters helped out the.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Guardians, yes, and the Mariners got hot, and the Mets collapse.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Let's let's call it what it is.
- 17:13Speaker 4: The Tigers and the Mets collapse last year. That's the
- 17:15Speaker 4: only way that happens. It can't happen if you just
- 17:18Speaker 4: play five hundred. You're not gonna get caught. If you
- 17:21Speaker 4: have a fifteen and a half game lead, I'm sorry,
- 17:24Speaker 4: no team can make up that much. No team in
- 17:26Speaker 4: a month and a half can make up sixteen games
- 17:29Speaker 4: over five hundred. That's in a month and a half.
- 17:31Speaker 4: That's like forty games. You're gonna have to go like
- 17:33Speaker 4: thirty and ten. And that still doesn't get it. Thirty
- 17:35Speaker 4: five and five right to get to even close. If
- 17:39Speaker 4: you play twenty and twenty, I mean that that doesn't
- 17:43Speaker 4: Those runs, I mean very rarely happen, but it's it's
- 17:47Speaker 4: you have to have.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Help yep, you need collapses. Max Kepler, serving in eighty
- 17:54Speaker 2: game suspension right now for Peds, has signed on with
- 17:57Speaker 2: a ball club. It's the Diamondbacks. He's eligible to come
- 18:00Speaker 2: off the restricted list pretty soon June twenty fifth, after
- 18:03Speaker 2: leaving the Twins, he played last season with the Phillies.
- 18:06Speaker 2: This tweet from Aaron Gleaman two sixteen, three hundred three
- 18:09Speaker 2: ninety one slash eighty eight ops plus and one hundred
- 18:11Speaker 2: and twenty seven games and aj The Ari Kratz joke
- 18:14Speaker 2: was that the Roids were not working well for him
- 18:17Speaker 2: last year. Hey, it is what it is.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Dude, got popped. It pisses people out.
- 18:20Speaker 3: No, he shouldn't.
- 18:21Speaker 4: He should have to now serve eighty games once he
- 18:24Speaker 4: signs like, he shouldn't get that eighty games to do
- 18:26Speaker 4: what sit at home like? That is one of the
- 18:29Speaker 4: biggest problems I have with this whole thing. He gets
- 18:30Speaker 4: eighty games and he wasn't even signed by a team. No,
- 18:34Speaker 4: some teams should have to take him on and then
- 18:37Speaker 4: he gets the eighty They put him on the roster
- 18:39Speaker 4: and then they get the eighty games.
- 18:40Speaker 3: It should be a deterrent.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Well, he got to sit at home and I was
- 18:43Speaker 4: just gonna sign the Diamondbacks for no reason, and now
- 18:46Speaker 4: he gets to go to spring training basically for three weeks,
- 18:49Speaker 4: and then come back and be in the big leagues
- 18:51Speaker 4: with no penalty.
- 18:52Speaker 3: That's this is what I.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Don't understand about this. The way the suspension is. He
- 18:56Speaker 4: should have to be on a team and then serve
- 18:58Speaker 4: the eighty games, not oh, I got popped and now
- 19:01Speaker 4: I'm just gonna sit out for eighty games and do
- 19:03Speaker 4: nothing at home, like come on.
- 19:06Speaker 5: One hundred percent. Yeah, the I mean, this is just
- 19:09Speaker 5: one of the caveats. But the PD suspension enforcement and
- 19:14Speaker 5: rules are not nearly heavy enough for guys, and this
- 19:17Speaker 5: is just one of those little caveats you're dead on.
- 19:19Speaker 5: He should not be able to just come on, sign
- 19:21Speaker 5: with the team and go play.
- 19:27Speaker 4: My dog, Bella would do anything for a treat, and

- 20:28Speaker 2: was going downhill, we probably talked about the Padres more
- 20:30Speaker 2: than any other team last week. I remember the show
- 20:33Speaker 2: that AJ and I did ourselves. We were talking about
- 20:35Speaker 2: them a lot. And you know, it has gotten better
- 20:37Speaker 2: in the last few days, including over the weekend. They
- 20:39Speaker 2: dropped a series to the Mets. They've lost ten of eleven, No,
- 20:43Speaker 2: eleven of thirteen now is what they've lost. Friday was
- 20:46Speaker 2: really bad, so they were shut out for the seventh
- 20:48Speaker 2: time already this season, five nothing lost to the Mets
- 20:50Speaker 2: and multiple injury issues popped up. So we learned that
- 20:55Speaker 2: Ramon Larianoho had been out actually had torn laborm surgery.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It sounds like you'll miss the rest of the season.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Usually that timetable is several months. Jeremiah Strada on the
- 21:04Speaker 2: aisle with a knee issue. They don't expect that to
- 21:06Speaker 2: be serious, but still you miss him for a little
- 21:08Speaker 2: bit of time and then nothing's changed yet with some
- 21:11Speaker 2: of the big boys, especially Manny Machado. Bob Knightingoe was
- 21:15Speaker 2: very pointed with his tweet. Did you see this one?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Aj?
- 21:18Speaker 2: He's like someone who's going to lose their job with
- 21:20Speaker 2: Machado struggles. He is now hitting one sixty nine. They
- 21:23Speaker 2: five ninety six ops were nearly halfway through this season.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, listen. They changed this in Victor Rodriguez. Vick Rodriguez,
- 21:35Speaker 4: who was their hitting coach the last couple of years,
- 21:37Speaker 4: is great. I had him in Boston, he was the assistant.
- 21:39Speaker 4: He was absolutely awesome, right, he just he got it.
- 21:42Speaker 4: The Padres were better hitters last year. Now the years changed, yes,
- 21:47Speaker 4: did they, But averages don't drop as much as they
- 21:49Speaker 4: they have this year for the Padres, their last and
- 21:51Speaker 4: batting evers and no batting average doesn't matter. But two
- 21:54Speaker 4: fourteen sixty games into the year ain't going to get
- 21:56Speaker 4: it done. You can only pitch so well, right, they're
- 21:59Speaker 4: last in runs, last in hits, last and on base lasting,
- 22:02Speaker 4: slug and last and o ps. You're not gonna They're
- 22:05Speaker 4: lucky to be where they are because they're pitching so
- 22:07Speaker 4: damn good, and Mason Miller and the bullpen has been
- 22:09Speaker 4: so damn good.
- 22:10Speaker 3: But hitting wise, I hate to.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Throw it all on Steven Susan Junior, who's their new
- 22:14Speaker 4: hitting coach, but something's got to change. Manny Machado the
- 22:17Speaker 4: other day said, hey, maybe we have too much analytics.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Well in San Diego, Manny Machado says something that's usually
- 22:24Speaker 4: pointing at something. So again, I don't know. I don't
- 22:26Speaker 4: want to put it all on Steven Susan Junior. I
- 22:28Speaker 4: know Vic, and I played for Vic, so maybe I'm
- 22:30Speaker 4: a little biased towards vickor Vic the old hitting coach.
- 22:33Speaker 3: But man, this is bad. When you look up and you.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Say last, last, last, last, and all those numbers, it's crazy.
- 22:40Speaker 5: It is and I know Steven a little bit from
- 22:43Speaker 5: his playing days. I don't know him much as a coach.
- 22:48Speaker 5: I think he's I think he's kind of big into
- 22:49Speaker 5: that teacher man philosophy like we're talking about earlier, a
- 22:52Speaker 5: little bit of a jay. But uh, if that's the case. Look,
- 22:56Speaker 5: hitting is such a unique thing. It's very individ jewel.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Everybody has different feels, everybody approaches it different There's not
- 23:05Speaker 5: one way to do it. And I know that the
- 23:07Speaker 5: teacher man philosophy has gotten very popular because Aaron Judge
- 23:11Speaker 5: is the best hitter on the planet and and he
- 23:13Speaker 5: he buys into that and he hits them and that's
- 23:15Speaker 5: great because it works for him. But it doesn't work
- 23:18Speaker 5: for everybody. And so I hope that it's not a
- 23:19Speaker 5: it's not a sus is not really doing a one
- 23:23Speaker 5: this is the way to fix everything by doing this
- 23:25Speaker 5: one move and having this one feel kind of thing, uh,
- 23:29Speaker 5: because that can derail some stuff quickly, and it might
- 23:32Speaker 5: be what's happening again, I'm just I don't know, but
- 23:35Speaker 5: it's it's not good and and it's it's from an
- 23:39Speaker 5: offensive standpoint, it's really not good. But the good thing
- 23:42Speaker 5: they have is they have some proven guys that have
- 23:43Speaker 5: had success in the big leagues for a long time,
- 23:46Speaker 5: and so they can fall back on that. And as
- 23:48Speaker 5: a hitting coach, that's I feel like that's majority of
- 23:51Speaker 5: your job is being a therapist and talking to your
- 23:55Speaker 5: hitters and helping your hitters be in a positive mindset
- 23:58Speaker 5: because it's such it is the hardest thing to do
- 24:00Speaker 5: to hit bar none, it's such a volatile thing. If
- 24:04Speaker 5: any little thing is off, you're not going to have
- 24:05Speaker 5: success doing it, whether that's mentally, physically, whatever it is.
- 24:10Speaker 5: And so that's the main job of the hitting coach,
- 24:12Speaker 5: and they just they they got to get it figured
- 24:14Speaker 5: out as a team.
- 24:16Speaker 2: With question for you because you know, recently out of
- 24:20Speaker 2: the sport, you played with a lot of superstars and
- 24:22Speaker 2: I know some of them are really open to criticism
- 24:26Speaker 2: and others kind of want to do their own thing.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Related to also, yes, having a private hitting coach and
- 24:31Speaker 2: all of that, you know, how have you seen that
- 24:33Speaker 2: dynamic with some teams when a guy is struggling and
- 24:36Speaker 2: the team probably has a suggestion, but you have to
- 24:38Speaker 2: be really delicate with the player depending on who it is, right,
- 24:42Speaker 2: And I'm not just saying this for Machado, but think
- 24:44Speaker 2: about it right without knowing the exacts of the situation.
- 24:46Speaker 2: If you're the padres and he's been your guy for
- 24:49Speaker 2: a long period of time, you probably have to be
- 24:51Speaker 2: a little delicate. I'm sure he's, you know, in the
- 24:52Speaker 2: cage trying to figure things out. But a lot of
- 24:54Speaker 2: people try to start giving you advice when it's really
- 24:57Speaker 2: not working for this amount of time.
- 24:59Speaker 1: It's been a while now.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Exactly. And that's that's where being that therapist that I
- 25:06Speaker 5: was talking about comes into play. You have to know
- 25:08Speaker 5: your players, know how to approach your players, know how
- 25:10Speaker 5: to communicate with your players. I play with a guy
- 25:12Speaker 5: like a guy like Matt Chapman. He wants you to
- 25:14Speaker 5: grab him by the throat, tell him that he sucks,
- 25:17Speaker 5: and tell him this is why he sucks, and this
- 25:19Speaker 5: is what he's doing that sucks, and this is why
- 25:21Speaker 5: he's the worst hitter in the game. And he wants
- 25:24Speaker 5: you to do that stuff to fire him up. And
- 25:25Speaker 5: then there's some guys that you got to be delicate with,
- 25:27Speaker 5: or some guys that you have to wait for them
- 25:29Speaker 5: to come to you. There's some guys that you can
- 25:32Speaker 5: show them one or two things. If you show them
- 25:34Speaker 5: a handful of things. It's gonna overwhelm them. Some guys
- 25:36Speaker 5: like the more information. So it's just it's it's truly
- 25:39Speaker 5: about the individual player and what what buttons do you
- 25:43Speaker 5: have to push on that player to make them successful.
- 25:46Speaker 5: It's a hard, hard job. Being a hitting coach is
- 25:49Speaker 5: the hardest coaching job in sports, truly, and it's you
- 25:56Speaker 5: never get the credit and you always get to blame.
- 25:57Speaker 5: So it's but yeah, they're just they're San Diego is
- 26:01Speaker 5: looking for somewhere to throw the blame right now.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and Lorian it was really good for them last year.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Aj that proved to be a great But.
- 26:10Speaker 3: This is what happens.
- 26:12Speaker 4: The number one job guy that gets fired on the
- 26:15Speaker 4: coaching staff is usually the hitting guy.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I'm sorry, it sucks.
- 26:19Speaker 4: That's why hitting jobs are really hard, and the guys
- 26:21Speaker 4: that can do them well and stick around for a
- 26:23Speaker 4: long time are really special. The hitting and the pitching coach,
- 26:25Speaker 4: those are like the first guys. Now, if you have
- 26:27Speaker 4: a manager like an Alex Korra or someone like that,
- 26:31Speaker 4: there are a manager's the GM will come and say, hey,
- 26:33Speaker 4: we want to get rid of this, we want to
- 26:35Speaker 4: change this, And those managers will say you know what,
- 26:37Speaker 4: you're not firing your coach.
- 26:38Speaker 3: My coaches without me.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I remember back in the day Tom Kelly, they wanted
- 26:42Speaker 4: to get rid of his old pitching Coade Dick such
- 26:44Speaker 4: and He's like, no, if he goes, I go, well
- 26:46Speaker 4: guess what next year we had wrong Gardenhire as a manager.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:49Speaker 4: And this year the rumor is that Alex Cora they
- 26:51Speaker 4: went maybe went to him and said, I don't know
- 26:52Speaker 4: if it's true or not, but it's what I was
- 26:54Speaker 4: reading that. Hey, they wanted to maybe get make some
- 26:56Speaker 4: coach changes on the coaching staff, and he said, if
- 26:58Speaker 4: they go, I go. Well that's kind of the way
- 27:03Speaker 4: it is, because what do we talk about in New
- 27:05Speaker 4: York In this offseason they changed all the coaches, but
- 27:07Speaker 4: Mandy got to keep his job.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Right. It just depends on how loyal you are to
- 27:11Speaker 3: these people and how good you think these coaches are,
- 27:14Speaker 3: and if you have enough confidence yourself that you will
- 27:16Speaker 3: can find another job once you're let go, because gyms
- 27:19Speaker 3: will do this, Hey, we've got to change your coaching staff,
- 27:22Speaker 3: and if you say no, as a manager, they'll let
- 27:23Speaker 3: you go right with them.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Right, It's tricky.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I mean, the prime example this year was the Phillies,
- 27:32Speaker 2: and it was the same example several years ago. You know,
- 27:35Speaker 2: it might not be that person's fault, but you have
- 27:37Speaker 2: to do something or you feel like you have to
- 27:38Speaker 2: do something. As an organization. You can't get rid of
- 27:40Speaker 2: the players in April, May even June for the most part.
- 27:43Speaker 2: So Copper took over years back for Joe Girardi and
- 27:46Speaker 2: it turned into a great run and a nice coaching
- 27:49Speaker 2: career for him with the Phillies. Same thing is going
- 27:52Speaker 2: on right now with Don Mattingly. We knew this team
- 27:54Speaker 2: was We figured this team was better than what it
- 27:56Speaker 2: looked like. It was playing super poor. They had to
- 28:00Speaker 2: do something. You know, you got to do the hitting.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Coaches often get picked on, but you also know what
- 28:05Speaker 2: you're signing up for.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Yes, every coach is hired to be fired. I'm sorry,
- 28:09Speaker 4: every coach, every manager is hired to be fired at
- 28:11Speaker 4: some point. There's there's very few coaches managers that get
- 28:15Speaker 4: to go out on their own players for them mat
- 28:17Speaker 4: or get to go out on their own terms.
- 28:19Speaker 3: It doesn't happen.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 5: The thing with the changing is that they have a
- 28:25Speaker 5: new staff. They changed it going into this year, and
- 28:27Speaker 5: so it's a lot of times that that stuff isn't
- 28:29Speaker 5: what you need, you know, But right now, something's got
- 28:32Speaker 5: to get going for him. And so do you fire
- 28:35Speaker 5: somebody that you just brought in and even though he's
- 28:38Speaker 5: forty games in, it's time to make a switch. I
- 28:40Speaker 5: don't think so. I think that's just somebody getting a
- 28:43Speaker 5: good hit and getting that snowball going down the hill,
- 28:46Speaker 5: because it is contagious. Hitting is contagious in a positive
- 28:48Speaker 5: way and a negative way.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Hey, on the topic of injuries, Ryce Lewis has been
- 28:53Speaker 2: through it, but they optioned him.
- 28:54Speaker 1: He had a good attitude.
- 28:55Speaker 2: He went down. He's learning multiple positions. He played multiple
- 28:58Speaker 2: positions over the weekend. He was hitting the crap out
- 29:00Speaker 2: of the ball and Triple A so got called up.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Here's the unfortunate part for the marketing team AJ The
- 29:05Speaker 2: Twins had a Royce Lewis replica jersey giveaway. They took
- 29:08Speaker 2: it off the promo schedule on it was for Friday
- 29:11Speaker 2: when he was optioned. Right that was optioned a couple
- 29:14Speaker 2: of weeks ago, Saints down in Triple A. They schedule
- 29:17Speaker 2: a separate Royce Lewis T shirt giveaway for that day.
- 29:21Speaker 2: He gets called up by the Twins. Marketing departments everywhere
- 29:24Speaker 2: are melting down.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Well, this reminds me was a Jason Tyner back in
- 29:33Speaker 4: the day. Had they had a babblehead with the Rays
- 29:35Speaker 4: and they defaid him like a week before and they like,
- 29:37Speaker 4: we're just going to give the babble heads out.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Anyways, I think they did.
- 29:41Speaker 4: But it's great, it's kind of it's it's funny on
- 29:44Speaker 4: a only on the fact that they had all these
- 29:46Speaker 4: T shirts things lined up for him.
- 29:47Speaker 3: But it's not funny for Royce Lewis who got sent down.
- 29:49Speaker 3: But he did come up and have a nice game yesterday,
- 29:51Speaker 3: so at least he had that.
- 29:54Speaker 5: Yeah, it's crazy, man, I mean, we played the Twins
- 29:58Speaker 5: in twenty twenty three in the ballcard game and that
- 30:00Speaker 5: guy was their best player by far, and just it's
- 30:05Speaker 5: unfortunate that he can't seem to get out of the
- 30:08Speaker 5: the way of the il and just can't seem to
- 30:11Speaker 5: get it back. And he's a great dude, So I'm
- 30:14Speaker 5: really cheering for him. Hopefully you can figure it out.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Yeah, he's always very open in interviews and all that,
- 30:20Speaker 2: and man, I mean you've seen some ridiculous runs for
- 30:24Speaker 2: him when he's feeling it.
- 30:26Speaker 1: He just did it.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I know it was in triple A, but when he
- 30:29Speaker 2: got options just now, I mean, he didn't look like
- 30:31Speaker 2: he belong there.
- 30:32Speaker 1: He looked like he needed to be in the big league.
- 30:33Speaker 1: So we'll see what that looks like.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But he's been open about thinking he's going to get
- 30:36Speaker 2: traded and just kind of going through it emotionally with
- 30:39Speaker 2: the way that the team has gone through it.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 30:41Speaker 2: But sucks for the marketing department and also for anyone
- 30:45Speaker 2: that was trying to buy tickets for either of those
- 30:46Speaker 2: promo giveaways. They're like, hello, can I can I get
- 30:51Speaker 2: my promo?
- 30:52Speaker 5: No better communication along those lines in the team, Hey,
- 30:58Speaker 5: let's just.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Promo doesn't care the promost The front office doesn't care
- 31:02Speaker 4: about the promo schedule. They're trying to figure out how
- 31:04Speaker 4: to have the best team. So they they're like, oh,
- 31:07Speaker 4: T shirts that will give them away a different time,
- 31:09Speaker 4: we'll sell them in the Twins garage shale flea market.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Are they trying to figure out how to have the
- 31:14Speaker 5: best team?
- 31:16Speaker 3: They're competing this year? But if they said they're competing this.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Year, they're around, They're here, They're here. I don't think
- 31:24Speaker 1: Lewis play.
- 31:24Speaker 5: Well, if they're going to compete, that's for sure.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Yeah, big time. All right, let's slap as always.
- 31:40Speaker 2: We're going to stay on for an extra few minutes
- 31:42Speaker 2: on YouTube, so make sure you join us there on
- 31:45Speaker 2: the FT YouTube channel. We're going to talk about Josh
- 31:48Speaker 2: Naylor getting hit by the Tigers, and also we'll just
- 31:53Speaker 2: do quick I guess we have thirty seconds on this one.
- 31:55Speaker 1: The Ernie Clement play. When he was hopping around Gonna
- 32:00Speaker 1: Anderson AJ texted me what.
- 32:04Speaker 3: That was the right call? You can establish your own baseline.
- 32:07Speaker 3: You can do it.
- 32:07Speaker 4: You can run to right field if you want, and
- 32:10Speaker 4: the guy has to chase you and tag you out.
- 32:12Speaker 4: I'm sorry, that's it's one of the quirky rules in baseball.
- 32:14Speaker 4: But you can literally as long as you don't run
- 32:16Speaker 4: straight at him and then jump out of the way.
- 32:18Speaker 3: That's out of the baseline.
- 32:19Speaker 4: But if you watch the play, he actually starts veering
- 32:22Speaker 4: away and Gunnar really kind of didn't really try and
- 32:24Speaker 4: tag him because he knew if he tried to tag
- 32:26Speaker 4: him he couldn't get the double play.
- 32:27Speaker 3: It was a good play by Ernie Clement. Manet. I
- 32:29Speaker 3: tipped my cap to him for knowing the rules and
- 32:31Speaker 3: doing it right.
- 32:32Speaker 1: M M, well we can go. Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I mean people don't know that rule though, because people
- 32:38Speaker 2: online were like this game was rigged.
- 32:42Speaker 5: It's what he has. One of the quirky rules of baseball.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Rusty coons used to pound it in our heads in
- 32:46Speaker 5: spring training, that exact play, and yeah, credit to Ernie
- 32:51Speaker 5: and the Empire.
- 32:52Speaker 2: All right, here we go for a few minutes. Josh
- 32:54Speaker 2: Naylor flung his sliding mint as he was sliding into home,
- 33:00Speaker 2: and the Tigers thought that it was intentional, so they
- 33:03Speaker 2: decided to hit him with a ninety six piece Naylor.
- 33:06Speaker 2: After Naylor was at least took it in stride, smiled
- 33:09Speaker 2: at at Kider Monto after he was plunked, and then
- 33:12Speaker 2: Naylor postgame said, fran Arvaldez was pointing and laughing at
- 33:15Speaker 2: me at the bench, so I knew it was on purpose.
- 33:19Speaker 4: First of all, I don't know how you feel about this,
- 33:23Speaker 4: but you know how hard it would be an amazing
- 33:25Speaker 4: it would be for Josh Nailor to be running down
- 33:27Speaker 4: the third baseline. In his head, he goes, you know
- 33:29Speaker 4: what I'm gonna do to distract him. I'm gonna throw
- 33:32Speaker 4: my sliding mid at him, like, come on, I watch
- 33:34Speaker 4: this thing like twenty times. It looked like it just
- 33:36Speaker 4: fell off his hand. That would be like one of
- 33:39Speaker 4: the craziest things I've ever seen to say.
- 33:40Speaker 3: I'm gonna run down to third. I'm running down third.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna throw my sliding minut at the catcher because that'll.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Get me safe one hundred percent. I don't believe that
- 33:50Speaker 5: that was an intentional act. I do think Naylor is
- 33:54Speaker 5: crazy enough though, that he probably played it off like
- 33:58Speaker 5: he did it on purpose. Uh, And maybe that was
- 34:02Speaker 5: why they felt like needed to hit him, because he
- 34:04Speaker 5: said he did it on purpose. But I don't believe
- 34:06Speaker 5: that that was a purposeful act.
- 34:07Speaker 1: No, what do you think of Fromber doing his thing
- 34:12Speaker 1: from the dugout?
- 34:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I don't.
- 34:15Speaker 5: I think both of them are crazy. I don't think
- 34:17Speaker 5: and I don't necessarily think that just because Fromberg was
- 34:20Speaker 5: laughing at and pointing that it means it was on purpose.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I think he I think there just could be a
- 34:25Speaker 5: history there, and and Frombert is just laughing because he
- 34:27Speaker 5: got hit, And I don't think it means it's on purpose.
- 34:30Speaker 5: I just I just think they're they're there are two
- 34:33Speaker 5: of the there are two crazy personalities in this game.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I know Naylor himself is he's a great dude, but
- 34:40Speaker 5: he's he's he's got a he's got a little crazy
- 34:42Speaker 5: in him, and he likes he likes contact. He's not
- 34:45Speaker 5: an il guy. He's a guy that loves pain. And
- 34:48Speaker 5: uh so, yeah, I I just I just think it's
- 34:53Speaker 5: it's it's a whole thing that was that was made
- 34:55Speaker 5: about nothing. I think the glove flying off was an accident.
- 34:59Speaker 5: I think him getting hit, I don't think it was
- 35:00Speaker 5: on purpose. May it might have been, but yeah, it's
- 35:04Speaker 5: it's it's getting talked about a lot because there're two
- 35:09Speaker 5: interesting personalities.
- 35:10Speaker 1: You don't think he was hit on purpose. You don't
- 35:12Speaker 1: think that part was on purpose?
- 35:13Speaker 3: Oh he was.
- 35:14Speaker 4: I thought he was. It looked like he was. But also,
- 35:17Speaker 4: here's my thing. I this happened to me before when
- 35:19Speaker 4: I was with the I think I was with the Twins.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Was I used to wear an elbow guard and I
- 35:23Speaker 4: was one of the first guys running the first and
- 35:25Speaker 4: it flew off and it went by Frank Thomas's feet
- 35:28Speaker 4: and he accused me of throwing it on purpose. I'm like,
- 35:30Speaker 4: you think I would really throw my elbow guard at
- 35:32Speaker 4: you as your First of all, you're Frank Thomas, You're
- 35:34Speaker 4: eight foot seven, four hundred pounds. You're squashed me like above,
- 35:38Speaker 4: Like I'm not picking you to throw my elbow guard
- 35:41Speaker 4: at first of all, and second of all, like I'm
- 35:43Speaker 4: running to first I'm pissed off. I'm not gonna throw
- 35:45Speaker 4: my elbow guard. I'll throw when I get back in
- 35:47Speaker 4: the dugout, but I'm not going to throw it at
- 35:49Speaker 4: the first basement. Like that's just childish behavior. I did
- 35:51Speaker 4: a lot of dumb shit, but I didn't do that
- 35:53Speaker 4: dumb shit.
- 35:57Speaker 2: But the accusation was given there. They thought you were
- 36:02Speaker 2: that skilled that you were going to make a move
- 36:04Speaker 2: like that, And I guess the same thing with Naylor.
- 36:06Speaker 1: They thought that he just is in a.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Big league play, sprinting home and thinking about how he's
- 36:11Speaker 2: going to slide the mid off into the catcher.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Best athletes in the world.
