- 0:00Speaker 1: Line from the Skying New Center. This is the Kenny Report.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Thanks for joining me tonight.
- 0:08Speaker 2: The evil hand of Iran blamed for at least two
- 0:11Speaker 2: anti Semitic fire bombing attacks in Australia.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Finally Labor takes action against.
- 0:17Speaker 2: This terrorist supporting Islamus regime and punts the ambassador. Shadow
- 0:22Speaker 2: Home Affairs Minister Andrew Hasty will join me and Alex
- 0:25Speaker 2: Rivchen will give us the reaction from the Australian Jewish community. Also,
- 0:29Speaker 2: Kristen Tate in the US on Donald Trump and lawless cities.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Will Chicago be next across to that terrible police shooting
- 0:37Speaker 2: in Victoria? And we'll cover all the issues with Stephen
- 0:40Speaker 2: Senna Tiempo and Suzi O'Brien.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Let's get into it.
- 0:46Speaker 2: This stunning revelation today that the Islamic Republic of Iran
- 0:50Speaker 2: is a responsible four two and possibly more andy Semitic
- 0:55Speaker 2: attacks on our shores is a seismic development on many
- 1:00Speaker 2: It underlines again just how weak and reckless the Albaneze
- 1:04Speaker 2: Labor government has been on antisemitism and on Iran. I'll
- 1:09Speaker 2: get into that in a moment, but first here's how
- 1:11Speaker 2: the news was revealed early afternoon.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Ran has sought to disguise its involvement, but Asio assesses
- 1:18Speaker 3: it was behind the attacks on the Lewis Continental Kitchen
- 1:22Speaker 3: in Sydney on October twenty last year and the Adas
- 1:27Speaker 3: Israel Synagogue in Melbourne on December sixth last year. Azio
- 1:32Speaker 3: assesses it is likely Iran directed further attacks as well.
- 1:38Speaker 2: For those who tried to downplay the rising tide of
- 1:41Speaker 2: antisemitism in this country, the Adas Synagogue attack ended the argument.
- 1:47Speaker 2: In December last year, the early morning firebombing destroyed the
- 1:51Speaker 2: treasured place of worship. A couple of community members were
- 1:55Speaker 2: inside the synagogue, but thankfully no one was killed or injured,
- 1:59Speaker 2: but the sent was frightening.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Police have made a couple of arrests.
- 2:04Speaker 2: And clearly investigations have taken them all the way to Iran.
- 2:09Speaker 2: The fire bombing at the Continental Kitchen, a kosher food
- 2:12Speaker 2: supplier in Sydney's Bondai Beach, happened the month earlier, and
- 2:16Speaker 2: it also sent a wave of fear into the local
- 2:19Speaker 2: Jewish community. Such is the impact of these hateful crimes
- 2:23Speaker 2: that the kitchen no longer operates at that location. Its
- 2:27Speaker 2: only shop front is a website and it runs from
- 2:30Speaker 2: an undisclosed location. Now, Australia's retaliation against Iran and Islamist
- 2:36Speaker 2: theocracy is strong, but it also had to be careful.
- 2:41Speaker 3: We informed the Iranian ambassador to Australia that he would
- 2:44Speaker 3: be expelled. We have suspended operations at our embassy in
- 2:48Speaker 3: Tehran and all our diplomats are now safe in a
- 2:52Speaker 3: third country.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how bad Iran is.
- 2:56Speaker 2: You have to get your own people out first lest
- 2:59Speaker 2: they be taken as hostages, as happened decades ago at
- 3:03Speaker 2: the American embassy in Tehran. No one should be surprised
- 3:07Speaker 2: by this terrible news. Iran is the malevolent force that
- 3:12Speaker 2: funds and organizes terrorism around the world and especially in
- 3:17Speaker 2: the Middle East against Israel. It is Iran that funded
- 3:21Speaker 2: HMAS and sparked the October the seventh atrocities against Israeli civilians.
- 3:26Speaker 2: It is Iran who funded Hezbollah in Lebanon and prompted
- 3:30Speaker 2: its rocket attacks against Israeli civilians. It is Iran that
- 3:35Speaker 2: funds the Huties in Yemen, who also fire rockets indiscriminately
- 3:40Speaker 2: into Israel. And it's Iran who backs terrorists in Syria
- 3:44Speaker 2: with many attacks against Israeli civilians. And now we know
- 3:49Speaker 2: Iran has been working against the Jewish community in our
- 3:53Speaker 2: own country too.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Here's the ASIO boss.
- 3:57Speaker 4: For the past ten months, anti Semitism has been one
- 3:59Speaker 4: of of asio's most pressing priorities, involving the full use
- 4:03Speaker 4: of our capabilities and powers.
- 4:06Speaker 2: ASIO believes Iran is behind other attacks too, and we're
- 4:10Speaker 2: likely to learn more in the future.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But let's not be revisionist here.
- 4:15Speaker 2: The Albanesi Labour government has been jelly backed in its
- 4:18Speaker 2: response to anti jew and anti Israel hatred in this
- 4:22Speaker 2: country since October the eighth, twenty twenty three, Since the
- 4:25Speaker 2: day after the atrocities in Israel, Albanesi has failed to
- 4:30Speaker 2: take a strong stand, even when we had crowds chanting
- 4:34Speaker 2: into Fada on our streets demanding the annihilation of Israel
- 4:38Speaker 2: by chanting from the river to the sea and marching
- 4:41Speaker 2: behind pictures of terrorist leaders and posters of the Supreme
- 4:46Speaker 2: Leader of Iran, the Ayatollah, who funds and praises Islamis terrorism.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Even seeing all that, Albanesi has called these protests peaceful.
- 4:57Speaker 2: The Foreign Minister has tried to be revisionists today.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Even before today, the Abanesi government had taken stronger action
- 5:05Speaker 5: on Iran than any previous Australian government. And we have
- 5:08Speaker 5: long known that Iran and its proxies try to destabilize
- 5:11Speaker 5: countries in our region and beyond.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Really, labor has been strong, not weak. The coalition leader,
- 5:20Speaker 2: the former coalition leader, Peter Dutton, remember him. He was
- 5:24Speaker 2: calling for an end to diplomatic relations with Iran last
- 5:28Speaker 2: year and then there was this at this very desk.
- 5:32Speaker 1: This is all about Iran.
- 5:34Speaker 6: I have been calling for months for Australia to reconsider
- 5:37Speaker 6: its diplomatic relations with Iran. Why are we giving that
- 5:40Speaker 6: country are legitimacy of a diplomatic relationship, particularly when Iran
- 5:44Speaker 6: is the great exporter of terror. Hiszbala has destroyed Lebanon
- 5:49Speaker 6: as a functioning democracy. A Hamas is responsible for the
- 5:54Speaker 6: single largest murder of Jewish people on a single day
- 5:56Speaker 6: since the Holocaust. Iran continues to ablized countries and they
- 6:01Speaker 6: particularly hate Israel. And we saw them saying death to
- 6:04Speaker 6: Israel in the Iranian parliament. Why because Israel stands for
- 6:07Speaker 6: everything there against it.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Australia should have been a lot stronger, a lot
- 6:12Speaker 2: earlier against the evil Islamist regime in Iran, where by
- 6:16Speaker 2: the way, they imprisoned women for failing to wear veils.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And remember, just back in June, when the.
- 6:23Speaker 2: US finally took out Israel Iran's nuclear weapons program that
- 6:29Speaker 2: Israel had initially attacked. This is something that many in
- 6:32Speaker 2: the free world had hoped for for more than a decade.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Albanizi and co. Failed to come out and quickly endorse
- 6:40Speaker 2: the US attack. As I pointed out at the time,
- 6:44Speaker 2: no support, no endorsement. They just slipped out a pathetic
- 6:48Speaker 2: statement with yet another call for dialogue and de escalation.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Embarrassing stuff. They couldn't even support their main alliance partner
- 6:58Speaker 2: taking military action to protect Israel and the world from
- 7:02Speaker 2: a rogue, theocratic extremist state intent on destroying other countries.
- 7:08Speaker 2: They could not even support the US stopping Iran from
- 7:12Speaker 2: getting a nuclear bomb. Yeah, they eventually said a bit more,
- 7:17Speaker 2: but their weakness is manifest. But there can be no
- 7:21Speaker 2: escaping of course, Albanesian Labour's legacy here. They have been
- 7:25Speaker 2: soft on anti Semitism and soft on Iran, and now
- 7:30Speaker 2: they've got a.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Lot of catching up to do.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I mean, here is a former Labor Foreign Minister, bobkar
- 7:38Speaker 2: and a current Labor federal MP, ed Husik joining a
- 7:43Speaker 2: protest where you see in the background they're the supreme
- 7:46Speaker 2: leader of Iran being.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Used as a poster boy.
- 7:50Speaker 2: No labor MP should have anything to do with these
- 7:54Speaker 2: hateful protests.
- 7:56Speaker 1: The PM calls them peaceful.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Really, they're not anti war, they are anti Israel. They
- 8:04Speaker 2: are being used to divide our community and preach hate
- 8:08Speaker 2: by backing the horrors of inter Fada and chanting from
- 8:12Speaker 2: the river to the sea.
- 8:14Speaker 1: We need leadership in Australia and we need it now.
- 8:23Speaker 2: The ABC spends more than a billion dollars of your
- 8:26Speaker 2: money every year, largely failing in its duty to inform
- 8:30Speaker 2: Australians about what's going on here and overseas. Consistently in
- 8:34Speaker 2: breach of its charter, which demands plurality and objectivity, the
- 8:39Speaker 2: National Broadcaster pumps out green left propaganda day in and
- 8:43Speaker 2: day out. As you know, in the process it does
- 8:47Speaker 2: enormous harm to our nation. A taxpayer funded bayomouth in
- 8:51Speaker 2: char is charged with informing the nation, but instead it misinforms.
- 8:57Speaker 2: If you only got your news from the ABC, you
- 8:59Speaker 2: would think Australia is suffering from unprecedented climate catastrophes that
- 9:04Speaker 2: renewable energy can deliver reliable energy that's cheap, and that
- 9:08Speaker 2: by switching to renewables in Australia we will change the
- 9:12Speaker 2: global climate. It really is that unscientific and ridiculous. And
- 9:17Speaker 2: on the Middle East, if you listened only to the ABC,
- 9:20Speaker 2: you would think Palestine is a country that hummaus are
- 9:24Speaker 2: freedom fighters, and that Israel's war to root out the
- 9:27Speaker 2: terrorists of hummus is actually Israel's attempt to wipe out Palestinians. Anyway,
- 9:33Speaker 2: against this backdrop, the ABC's Media Watch program last night
- 9:37Speaker 2: devoted eight minutes of its airtime and lord knows how
- 9:40Speaker 2: many staff hours from its over resourced program to criticize
- 9:45Speaker 2: one interview on this station.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I kid you not.
- 9:49Speaker 2: They talked about Sharry Markson's interview with Israeli Prime Minister
- 9:53Speaker 2: Benjamin Nettinharu. They analyzed it, they asked a bunch of
- 9:57Speaker 2: retired lefty journalists about it, and they bagged.
- 10:01Speaker 7: With a track record of breaking news and a rolodex
- 10:04Speaker 7: of politicians willing to take her call. Few could really
- 10:08Speaker 7: argue Sharry Markson is an unseerious journalist.
- 10:12Speaker 8: But for me, this interview crossed the.
- 10:15Speaker 7: Line into open advocacy for the Neten Yahoo Government.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Your taxes at work.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Instead of perhaps examining the abcn's the ABC's own misinformation
- 10:26Speaker 2: about the war in Gaza, instead of actually sharing some
- 10:29Speaker 2: facts with the public, they ran a pathetic swipe at
- 10:33Speaker 2: a female journalist, a female journalist who they line up
- 10:36Speaker 2: so often and with so much misinformation that it starts
- 10:39Speaker 2: to look like an obsession or bullying, or.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Perhaps just envy.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You know, I guess it is pretty embarrassing to see
- 10:47Speaker 2: one journalist consistently breaking more stories every year than an
- 10:52Speaker 2: entire billion dollar outfit employing four thousand people. Perhaps the
- 10:56Speaker 2: ABC would do better to fact check its own journals
- 11:00Speaker 2: instead of constantly and uncritically running hummus propaganda and the
- 11:05Speaker 2: lines from the United Nations.
- 11:07Speaker 1: To the extent that they differ. Here was the ABC
- 11:10Speaker 1: on the weekend.
- 11:12Speaker 9: Famine has been declared in Gaza, impacting more than half
- 11:15Speaker 9: a million people, nearly a quarter of the population.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and they went on to show the harrowing struggle
- 11:23Speaker 2: of a poor little girl in Gaza suffering from severe
- 11:26Speaker 2: illness rather than famine. The UN spokesman for the latest
- 11:30Speaker 2: famine declaration was this man.
- 11:33Speaker 10: It is a famine the Gaza famine. It is a
- 11:39Speaker 10: famine that we could have prevented if we had been allowed.
- 11:45Speaker 10: Yet food stacks up at borders because of systematic obstruction
- 11:49Speaker 10: by Israel.
- 11:51Speaker 2: This, of course, is never interrogated by the ABC, even
- 11:54Speaker 2: though just.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Two months ago.
- 11:56Speaker 2: The same man run the ABC actually ran the same man,
- 12:01Speaker 2: the same official saying this.
- 12:04Speaker 10: You know, let me describe what is on those trucks.
- 12:06Speaker 10: This is baby food, baby nutrition. There are fourteen thousand
- 12:10Speaker 10: babies that will die in the next forty eight hours
- 12:12Speaker 10: unless we can reach them.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the ABC ran that without checking it too, even
- 12:18Speaker 2: though it sounded out landish and unlikely, it suited their narrative.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Fourteen thousand babies could die within the next forty eight
- 12:26Speaker 4: hours in Gaza if there's not enough aid cent there.
- 12:29Speaker 11: That is the grim warning from the United Nations Humanitarian Chief.
- 12:33Speaker 12: When they hear reports from the United Nations such as
- 12:36Speaker 12: this week that fourteen thousand babies are potentially going to
- 12:40Speaker 12: die this week as a result of a lack of
- 12:42Speaker 12: baby food in Gaza, how do they defend that?
- 12:47Speaker 1: But of course it turned out to be absolute rubbish.
- 12:50Speaker 2: It sounded fanciful and it was the BBC, the UN
- 12:54Speaker 2: and all sorts of other media had to correct it.
- 12:57Speaker 2: The claim was based on a study that said fourteen
- 13:00Speaker 2: children between six months old and five years of age
- 13:03Speaker 2: could suffer malnutrition over the next year if aid supplies
- 13:08Speaker 2: did not improve. Relevant information, sure, but nothing like what
- 13:13Speaker 2: the UN said and the ABC parroted. Just one more
- 13:18Speaker 2: example of the ABC's daily demonization of Israel and misleading
- 13:23Speaker 2: of the Australian population. And while they want to focus
- 13:27Speaker 2: on interviews, let's have a look at one that was
- 13:29Speaker 2: conducted on the ABC last night. When Sarah Ferguson interviewed
- 13:34Speaker 2: Israeli Diaspora Minister Amachai Chickley, she started with this reference
- 13:39Speaker 2: to Australia's anti Israel and pro Palestinian protests.
- 13:44Speaker 13: At least two hundred thousand Australians demonstrated here over the
- 13:47Speaker 13: past couple of weeks, So at the same time four
- 13:50Speaker 13: hundred thousand Israeli citizens were demonstrating in Tel Aviv. Why
- 13:54Speaker 13: shouldn't Australians take their cues from the Israelis.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Take the accus from the Israeli protests. The Israeli protests
- 14:04Speaker 2: are nothing like our protests. The Israeli protesters demand an
- 14:10Speaker 2: end to war. They demand the release of hostages. They
- 14:15Speaker 2: are driven by the desperation to get the Israeli hostages
- 14:18Speaker 2: back from Hummus. They fly Israeli flags and yellow flags
- 14:24Speaker 2: for the hostages. The Israeli protests are not anti Israeli,
- 14:29Speaker 2: surprisingly enough, unlike ours, our protests.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Display the flags of terrorist.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Organizations of Hummus and Hezbala and Isis all who want
- 14:40Speaker 2: to eliminate the Israelis, and our protests chant from the
- 14:44Speaker 2: river to the sea, telling the world they want to
- 14:47Speaker 2: obliterate Israel.
- 14:48Speaker 8: You reckon?
- 14:48Speaker 2: They chant that in Tel Aviv, and they chant for
- 14:52Speaker 2: inter fata. That is more terrorism against the Israelis.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Poulos, Yeah, do you reckon?
- 15:13Speaker 2: The Israelis in Tel Aviv chant for interfarta, calling on
- 15:17Speaker 2: the Islamist extremists to launch terrorism attacks against themselves. That's
- 15:24Speaker 2: what we get from the protests in Australia. How dare
- 15:27Speaker 2: Ferguson and the ABC equate these ugly anti Israeli protests
- 15:32Speaker 2: in Australia with desperate Israelis protesting for peace in Israel.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And remember, nobody watching the ABC would know about any
- 15:41Speaker 2: of this because the ABC doesn't show the interfarta chant
- 15:46Speaker 2: or the terror flags. The posters of terrorist leaders and
- 15:49Speaker 2: the Iranian leadier leader. The ABC tells the public these
- 15:53Speaker 2: are just lovely, peaceful protests, you know, just like the
- 15:56Speaker 2: Prime Minister says. But there's more in that interview.
- 15:59Speaker 1: You listen to ferg and.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Cut in when Chicley complains about mainstream commentators, a former
- 16:05Speaker 2: politician and a serving Israeli politician being banned from Australia.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I'm just going to stop you there.
- 16:12Speaker 13: Let me put it, let me put another.
- 16:16Speaker 8: From this government.
- 16:17Speaker 13: I think I need to make it very clear that
- 16:19Speaker 13: there is no ban on Zionist coming to Australia. But
- 16:22Speaker 13: let's talk about you. You're the Minister reality, You're the
- 16:25Speaker 13: Minister for the diaspora. There were specific conditions given for
- 16:28Speaker 13: the refusal of those visas.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's an ABC journalist defending her government, making her
- 16:36Speaker 2: Green left government's case about banning mainstream Israeli visitors.
- 16:42Speaker 1: A journalist defending the banning.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Of people for expressing mainstream views that our government doesn't like.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Just extraordinary, But on it goes.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Look at this doozy, As Ferguson explains, the genius of
- 16:55Speaker 2: Albanesi's plan to recognize a non existent Palestinian state, But.
- 17:01Speaker 13: The Albanezi government when it made a decision a pledge
- 17:04Speaker 13: to recognize a Palestinian state at the forthcoming General Assembly
- 17:08Speaker 13: at the UN in September, it did so with a
- 17:11Speaker 13: clear stipulation that that would only happen if Hummas played
- 17:15Speaker 13: no role in a future Palestinian state. So how does
- 17:18Speaker 13: it honor, as you put it, rapists and murderers of
- 17:22Speaker 13: Hummas when that pledge explicitly rules them out.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Really, Ferguson and the ABC by that you can just
- 17:32Speaker 2: rule Hummas out?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Why hasn't anyone done that?
- 17:36Speaker 2: They demand Israel adopts a ceasefire now that is, they
- 17:39Speaker 2: demand that Humas is left in charge of Gaza. But
- 17:43Speaker 2: they reckon there could be some sort of Palestinian state
- 17:46Speaker 2: with Hummas excluded from any role.
- 17:49Speaker 1: How will that happen? How do you.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Exclude Hummas if you don't dismantle them?
- 17:56Speaker 1: What will Albo and Ferguson Just.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Ask them, Just ask them, blood thirsty Islamist extremists. If
- 18:02Speaker 2: I mustard, please go away, it's part of our deal.
- 18:07Speaker 2: This stuff would be risible if it were not so dangerous.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And it shows the absolute hutzpah of the ABC to
- 18:17Speaker 2: criticize any interview conducted by any other journalist anywhere, anytime.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Let's go to.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Canberra now and catch up with the Shadow Home Affairs
- 18:30Speaker 2: Minister Andrew Hasty. Andrew, thanks for joining us on this
- 18:34Speaker 2: day of dramatic news. Firstly, were you surprised when we
- 18:38Speaker 2: heard these revelations today that Iran has been behind at
- 18:41Speaker 2: least two of these firebombings, these anti Semitic fire bombings.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Good evening, Chris.
- 18:48Speaker 11: I wasn't surprised, surprised the government had taken so long
- 18:53Speaker 11: to decide to list the Iranian Republican Guard Corps as
- 18:56Speaker 11: a terrorist organization. The coalition has called upon the government
- 19:00Speaker 11: since twenty twenty three at least ten times to do so.
- 19:03Speaker 11: But it is good news and we back the government
- 19:06Speaker 11: in this decision to remove the Iranian ambassador from our country,
- 19:09Speaker 11: to expel him and three other people in the embassy
- 19:12Speaker 11: have been made persona on Grada as well as the listing,
- 19:15Speaker 11: and we'll be working very closely with the government to
- 19:18Speaker 11: expedite the process of listing the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Now let me just.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Walk this through though, because Iran doesn't just do this
- 19:27Speaker 2: for the hell of it. Why would Iran want to
- 19:31Speaker 2: exacerbate the anti Semitic stresses in this country. Would Iran
- 19:36Speaker 2: be looking to divide our country so that it might
- 19:39Speaker 2: put more pressure on our own government, so that our
- 19:42Speaker 2: labor government might do something like, you know, promise to
- 19:46Speaker 2: recognize the Palestinian state.
- 19:49Speaker 11: Look, what we've seen over the last decade is a
- 19:51Speaker 11: rise in underhanded tactics used by authoritarian regimes, whether it's China, Russia, Iran,
- 19:58Speaker 11: North Korea. And one of the ways they go head
- 20:01Speaker 11: to head with democracies is by attacking our social cohesion.
- 20:05Speaker 11: Which is why using a proxy or a cutout to
- 20:08Speaker 11: effectively attack Jewish Australians or Australian who are Jewish. I
- 20:12Speaker 11: want to make that very clear, Australians who are Jewish
- 20:15Speaker 11: by attacking the bakery and Bondai and the Adas Synagogue
- 20:19Speaker 11: in Melbourne, that's a way of sowing discord, disagreement and
- 20:23Speaker 11: creating fear. So it's a very powerful tactic in places
- 20:27Speaker 11: like Australia and other democracies around the world. Iran is
- 20:31Speaker 11: very sophisticated with the way they do this. This state
- 20:33Speaker 11: sponsored terrorism. The Iranian Republican Guard Corps had operational control
- 20:39Speaker 11: of this. They use cryptocurrency encrypted communications to run a
- 20:43Speaker 11: series of proxies and deliver this violent.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Extremism on our shores.
- 20:49Speaker 11: And that's why a redline has been established by the government.
- 20:52Speaker 1: We support it wholeheartedly.
- 20:54Speaker 11: We just think this should have been done at least
- 20:56Speaker 11: the listing of the IRGC at least two years ago.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Now, I think you're absolutely right in what you said
- 21:02Speaker 2: there about the Iranian aims.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Now, as you know, I've got a background in this.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I served for many years for the Australia's Foreign Minister,
- 21:08Speaker 2: dealing in issues of espionage of Islamist extremist motivations and events.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And you're absolutely right.
- 21:19Speaker 2: They want to undermine any democracy, create social discord in
- 21:23Speaker 2: any democracy, weaken them, especially if they happen to be
- 21:26Speaker 2: a strong ally of the United States.
- 21:28Speaker 1: And of Israel.
- 21:29Speaker 2: But is it not also the case that they would
- 21:32Speaker 2: hope for a political dividend and they would love to
- 21:35Speaker 2: see they would see the proposed recognition of a Palestinian
- 21:40Speaker 2: state by the Albanesi government as being some sort of
- 21:43Speaker 2: fruit from their Machiavelian labors.
- 21:48Speaker 8: That's right.
- 21:49Speaker 11: The political dividend would be a geopolitical outcome such as
- 21:53Speaker 11: the one that we've seen over the last few weeks
- 21:56Speaker 11: which we vehemently disagree with the government on, and that
- 21:59Speaker 11: is the wrecking of a two state solution without conditions,
- 22:03Speaker 11: which basically emboldens and empowers Hamas and that's very problematic.
- 22:08Speaker 11: But I also want to make the point Chris, that
- 22:09Speaker 11: can you imagine if people had been killed in these
- 22:13Speaker 11: attacks that would have been targeted assassination of Australians of
- 22:18Speaker 11: a Jewish heritage or background. So I want to underscore
- 22:22Speaker 11: how serious this is. This wasn't just a fire bombing
- 22:25Speaker 11: of the Dust Synagogue. This could have been deadly and lethal,
- 22:30Speaker 11: and I think it's a very strong move and an
- 22:34Speaker 11: important message to send that we will not tolerate foreign interference.
- 22:38Speaker 11: We will not tolerate espionage, sabotage or any other underhanded
- 22:43Speaker 11: tactics that authoritarian regimes might conduct or think about conducting
- 22:47Speaker 11: on our soil.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Exactly, and thank goodness ASO and the authorities are onto this.
- 22:51Speaker 2: But at the same time, of course, we've had these
- 22:54Speaker 2: so called pro Palestinian anti Israel protests, including a former
- 22:58Speaker 2: Foreign Minister of Australia joining the one in Sydney where
- 23:02Speaker 2: the poster of the Supreme Ruler of around the atoll
- 23:06Speaker 2: Mean was bandied about. There's been other hate preachers there.
- 23:10Speaker 2: There's been the pictures of Jaga Simwa banded about, slogans, sorry,
- 23:17Speaker 2: symbols and flags of Hamas, of Hezbala of Isis. Yet
- 23:21Speaker 2: we've seen our authorities not in Devene in any direct way.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Are you are we confident that ASO and our.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Other authorities are watching these protests carefully enough and following
- 23:31Speaker 2: up with these people, or should we be arresting some
- 23:34Speaker 2: of these people in public for brandishing these symbols.
- 23:40Speaker 11: I had a briefing today from the Director General of ASO,
- 23:44Speaker 11: Mike Burgess. Got a lot of confidence in Mike. I've
- 23:47Speaker 11: known him for at least five or six years during
- 23:49Speaker 11: my time as the chair of the PJCIS. I know
- 23:52Speaker 11: he's working very hard to make sure that he keeps
- 23:55Speaker 11: Australian safe. But the challenge we have now is that
- 23:59Speaker 11: this is becoming so i'des spread. We have people coming
- 24:01Speaker 11: out of school effectively chanting the Hamas lines from the
- 24:05Speaker 11: river to the sea. Now they might not know what
- 24:07Speaker 11: that actually means, but that is to effectively extinguish not
- 24:11Speaker 11: just the Jewish state, but the Jewish people from what
- 24:16Speaker 11: is now Israel. So this is the challenge when it
- 24:19Speaker 11: comes to contesting some of these ideas, and this is
- 24:22Speaker 11: the challenge in fact in the West Bank and Gaza,
- 24:25Speaker 11: you can remove from us. But as we've seen from
- 24:28Speaker 11: polling out of the Palestinian Authority, their own polling arm,
- 24:32Speaker 11: what we've seen with the polling is that Hamas still
- 24:34Speaker 11: enjoys widespread support in Gaza and the West Bank. October seventh,
- 24:38Speaker 11: the attacks are still supported across both areas, and armed
- 24:44Speaker 11: struggle is still considered a legitimate means of realizing a
- 24:47Speaker 11: Palaestinian state. And as long as those ideas are out there,
- 24:50Speaker 11: we're going to have to really be mindful of the
- 24:55Speaker 11: threat to our cohesion here, the threat of violence to
- 24:58Speaker 11: the Australian people. And that's why a law enforce an
- 25:00Speaker 11: intelligence agencies are going to have a big work laid
- 25:03Speaker 11: not just in the next year, but over the next
- 25:05Speaker 11: half decade.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I think thanks so much for joining us, Andrew Hasty.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I appreciate it greatly. Shutout Home Affairs Minister Andrew Hasey.
- 25:12Speaker 2: They're live from Canberra and he is dead right. The
- 25:17Speaker 2: Coalition has been calling for the end of diplomatic relations
- 25:20Speaker 2: with Iran for a long long while. Also the listing
- 25:23Speaker 2: of that Iranian Republican Guard outfit as well, which the
- 25:27Speaker 2: government has.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Done to do.
- 25:28Speaker 2: So they've been calling this for at least a year,
- 25:31Speaker 2: and only now after these shocking revelations is the government
- 25:34Speaker 2: catching up deeply worrying, isn't it now? I want to
- 25:37Speaker 2: go to that shocking shooting in Victoria today. Two police
- 25:40Speaker 2: officers have been killed and another officer is wounded, and
- 25:44Speaker 2: that was at a property around three hundred kilometers northeast
- 25:47Speaker 2: of Melbourne. A short time ago, Georgie Dickerson filed this report.
- 25:51Speaker 14: That's where we are right now is around two hours
- 25:54Speaker 14: from where this incidents took place. Earlier this morning, it
- 25:58Speaker 14: is believed that police were conducting a search warrant on
- 26:01Speaker 14: a property in Perpunka, which is around three hundred kilometers
- 26:05Speaker 14: northeast of Melbourne. It is when that they were executing
- 26:08Speaker 14: this search warrant. Three police officers are believed to have
- 26:11Speaker 14: attended the property and then it is believed that an
- 26:14Speaker 14: ambush style has occurred with this person that they were
- 26:18Speaker 14: going to execute the search warrant on firing at authorities.
- 26:22Speaker 14: One officer has been wounded too, have been confirmed to
- 26:26Speaker 14: be deceased. The third was in a critical condition and
- 26:29Speaker 14: it's believed he suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.
- 26:33Speaker 14: But it is still very much an active situation at
- 26:36Speaker 14: this stage. Police are warning any people around the area
- 26:40Speaker 14: to remain vigilant. They're telling people not to go towards
- 26:43Speaker 14: the area as there is still an active shooter. It
- 26:47Speaker 14: is believed that the person responsible for this shooting has
- 26:51Speaker 14: actually taken the hostages and is believed his wife and
- 26:54Speaker 14: children have gone up into bushland near where this incident
- 26:57Speaker 14: has taken place, but now more officers are on their way.
- 27:01Speaker 14: It is believed the Special Operations has been in the area.
- 27:04Speaker 14: There is a massive police presence around the area now.
- 27:08Speaker 14: Multiple businesses have basically gone into lockdown, shutting their doors.
- 27:12Speaker 14: A lot of the local schools have also have gone
- 27:15Speaker 14: into lockdown as well. As this remains an active police situation.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Yeah, what a shocking situation.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Listen up, if you're in that area, don't go into
- 27:25Speaker 2: that area, and obviously in that area, listen to.
- 27:27Speaker 1: The local authorities the police.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Warnings because there is an active shooter and they're still
- 27:32Speaker 2: on the hunt for him. The Victorian Police Chief Commissioner
- 27:35Speaker 2: Mike Bush. He's going to speak at six pm. We'll
- 27:37Speaker 2: have that live with the Steve Price, for Linam for
- 27:40Speaker 2: Peter Quedlin. We're going to go to a breakdown. After
- 27:43Speaker 2: the break I'm going to catch up with Alex Ritchen
- 27:45Speaker 2: from the Jewish Australian community to get their reaction to
- 27:50Speaker 2: the Iran synagogue attack. Those attacks being linked directly to Iran.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Let's get back to the top story of the day,
- 28:03Speaker 2: and Australia's diplomats have been evacuated from Iran and our
- 28:07Speaker 2: embassy in Tehran shut down and the ambassador from Iran
- 28:11Speaker 2: expelled from Australia after Asia revealed that Iran is responsible
- 28:17Speaker 2: for at least two anti Semitic attacks on our shores,
- 28:20Speaker 2: including the fire bombing of the Adas Synagogue and a
- 28:23Speaker 2: Kosher food supplier in Sydney.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Here's the ASIO boss and the Prime Minister.
- 28:29Speaker 4: ASIO analysis is the Iranian government directed at least two
- 28:32Speaker 4: and likely more attacks on Duish interests in Australia. Our
- 28:37Speaker 4: painstaking investigation uncovered and unpicked the links between the alleged
- 28:42Speaker 4: crimes and the commanders in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
- 28:46Speaker 4: the IARGC.
- 28:47Speaker 3: These were extraordinary and dangerous acts of aggression orchestrated by
- 28:53Speaker 3: a foreign nation on Australian soil.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Let's go again to Alex Ritchan from the Excscative Council
- 29:00Speaker 2: of Australian Jury.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Good to talk to you again, Alex.
- 29:03Speaker 2: In the terrible circumstances, tell us the reaction to You've
- 29:08Speaker 2: experienced so much of this hatred over the past almost
- 29:11Speaker 2: two years, but now the confirmation that some of it
- 29:14Speaker 2: at least has been directed from Iran.
- 29:18Speaker 15: There's not a great deal of shock that Iran was
- 29:20Speaker 15: behind this. We will recall that at the beginning of
- 29:23Speaker 15: the investigations the police alluded to their investigations pointing to
- 29:27Speaker 15: a foreign actor, and the minute they said that, I
- 29:30Speaker 15: think most people assumed that Iran was a number one suspect.
- 29:33Speaker 15: This is a regime through its IRGC, which reads havoc
- 29:36Speaker 15: throughout the world. It's carried out terrorist attacks devastating Jewish communities,
- 29:40Speaker 15: Israeli targets and Western targets in many continents. So there's
- 29:44Speaker 15: no surprise here. But at the same time, when you
- 29:46Speaker 15: receive this confirmation that it was indeed Wigan in regime
- 29:50Speaker 15: that via the Mullers and then the IGC and then
- 29:53Speaker 15: their various operatives and networks and cells throughout the world.
- 29:56Speaker 15: They actually identified these strange Jewish community selected targets and
- 29:59Speaker 15: hit them in this way. It's a chilling thing to learn,
- 30:03Speaker 15: and it obviously raised a lot of questions in terms
- 30:05Speaker 15: of are their operatives still at large, how many people
- 30:08Speaker 15: were involved, how do they get to Australia all of
- 30:11Speaker 15: these things, and particularly is there an ongoing threat to
- 30:13Speaker 15: the community. I mean, I spoke earlier to the owners
- 30:17Speaker 15: of the business that was targeted in Sydney. They're beside themselves,
- 30:20Speaker 15: you know, knowing that they were targeted in this way
- 30:22Speaker 15: by such a devastating, deadly foe. It's a terrifying thing
- 30:25Speaker 15: to learn of.
- 30:26Speaker 1: It's absolutely terrifying. But I just want to ask.
- 30:28Speaker 2: You, is there any sense in which there is any
- 30:31Speaker 2: comfort that perhaps that's the homegrown anti Semitic hatred might
- 30:36Speaker 2: not be as severe that is being directed from these
- 30:39Speaker 2: sinister overseas forces.
- 30:43Speaker 15: Well, what we're learning so far is that this was
- 30:45Speaker 15: a complex network, involving obviously the reigning regime. We've seen
- 30:50Speaker 15: the role played by organized crime and then local operatives
- 30:53Speaker 15: as well, and so it doesn't diminish the extent of
- 30:56Speaker 15: anti Semitism. I think the lesson here is actually the reverse.
- 30:59Speaker 15: I think it shows how determined, how sophisticated, how deadly
- 31:03Speaker 15: these forces of anti Semitism are in the lands. They
- 31:05Speaker 15: will go to to menace and terrorize our community.
- 31:08Speaker 2: At the same time, we're having protests where people are
- 31:11Speaker 2: openly chanting for interfata. They're regularly chanting from the river
- 31:16Speaker 2: to the sea, Palestine will be free.
- 31:17Speaker 1: They're even marching with flags from.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Terrorist groups and a poster of the Supreme Leader of Iran.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Does this not just underscore that our police and governments
- 31:28Speaker 2: or our authorities have been too soft on the hateful.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Messages brandished about it these protests.
- 31:35Speaker 15: Well, I can only hope that the police and security
- 31:37Speaker 15: agencies are very carefully monitoring all of these rallies, identifying
- 31:42Speaker 15: people that are sympathetic to prescribed organizations and terrorist regimes,
- 31:46Speaker 15: and taking action to protect this because these rallies we've
- 31:48Speaker 15: seen are a gathering point for all manner of extremists.
- 31:53Speaker 8: They bring a.
- 31:54Speaker 15: Very deadly ideology, They radicalize people who come along. You've
- 31:57Speaker 15: seen kids being coached to chamfer and into and all
- 32:00Speaker 15: of these things. So action clearly needs to be taken.
- 32:04Speaker 15: But I think there's also a moment here where those
- 32:06Speaker 15: who attend these marches, and we've seen tens of thousands
- 32:09Speaker 15: it's heading in Sydney and various other seats throughout the
- 32:11Speaker 15: country where they need to pause and reflect what side
- 32:14Speaker 15: they're on and whether they're on the right side of history.
- 32:16Speaker 15: They think they are. But if you're marching next to
- 32:19Speaker 15: people holding posters of sinoa and estralla and the Ayatola,
- 32:24Speaker 15: knowing how that that regime has carried out a tax
- 32:26Speaker 15: on Australian soil, I think you need to seriously question
- 32:29Speaker 15: your morality and which side you've chosen to be on.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Given the dynamic that's played out in this country over
- 32:34Speaker 2: the past twenty odd months, and also given the dynamic
- 32:38Speaker 2: that's played out since the Sydney Harbor Bridge protest. Do
- 32:42Speaker 2: you believe that the albin Easy Labor Government's decision and
- 32:47Speaker 2: pledge to recognize this non existent state of Palestine, do
- 32:51Speaker 2: you believe that that would have been fruit a fruit,
- 32:54Speaker 2: a desired outcome from Iran's interventions in Australia.
- 32:59Speaker 15: There's no question, there's no question that whatever the intent
- 33:02Speaker 15: of the Australian government, and I take them at their
- 33:05Speaker 15: word that they're seeking to advance peace and end the
- 33:07Speaker 15: conflict and have Israel an Apalstinian state living side by side.
- 33:12Speaker 15: Whatever that intent may be, the outcome is very different.
- 33:15Speaker 15: They have handed a huge victory to the most extreme
- 33:18Speaker 15: forces in Australia and around the world, and they will
- 33:21Speaker 15: view that as a validation and a vindication of their efforts,
- 33:24Speaker 15: and they're going to escalate them. It's been shown to
- 33:26Speaker 15: them that if you take over our streets, if you
- 33:28Speaker 15: target the Jewish community, if you carry out acts of
- 33:32Speaker 15: mass horror as we saw in October seven, you will
- 33:34Speaker 15: receive political outcomes that you're seeking. That is the entirely
- 33:38Speaker 15: wrong message to send and it's made our country in
- 33:40Speaker 15: the world a more dangerous place.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us, Alex, appreciate that. Thanks ever, Alex
- 33:46Speaker 2: Ripchin there from the Executive Council of Australian Jury. Still
- 33:50Speaker 2: to come, Kristen Tate, it's going to join us from
- 33:52Speaker 2: the US to discuss Donald Trump's warning to.
- 33:54Speaker 1: The City of Chicago.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Just on these revelations about what Iran has been doing
- 34:06Speaker 2: in Australia, these anti Semitic attacks. No country in the
- 34:10Speaker 2: world has better intelligence on Iran than the Israelis. It's
- 34:13Speaker 2: a matter of life and death for the Israelis, as
- 34:16Speaker 2: we saw with the Israelis even be able to.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Take out Hamas leaders in Tehran.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I just wonder whether Israeli intelligence helped Australia out at
- 34:24Speaker 2: all in finding out about these attacks, or whether it
- 34:26Speaker 2: will in the future. We may never know, but ponder
- 34:31Speaker 2: how important the Israeli intelligent intelligence alliance is for US
- 34:36Speaker 2: with matters such as this. Now, after sending the National
- 34:40Speaker 2: Guard into Washington, d C. To assist with law and order,
- 34:43Speaker 2: the US President Donald Trump is floating the idea of
- 34:46Speaker 2: doing the same thing in Barack Obama's hometown of Chicago.
- 34:51Speaker 8: Have a look, as.
- 34:52Speaker 16: You all know, Chicago's are killing fields right now and
- 34:56Speaker 16: they don't acknowledge it. And they said, we don't need them. Freedom. Freedom.
- 35:00Speaker 16: He's a dictator. He's a dictator. A lot of people
- 35:02Speaker 16: are saying, maybe we like a dictator. I don't like
- 35:05Speaker 16: a dictator. I'm not a dictator. I'm a man with
- 35:08Speaker 16: great common sense and as smart person. And when I
- 35:12Speaker 16: see what's happening to our cities and then you send
- 35:15Speaker 16: in troops, instead of being praised the same, you're trying
- 35:19Speaker 16: to take over the Republic.
- 35:21Speaker 8: Uh, these people are sick.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sure.
- 35:24Speaker 2: The Democrats always Mike get about Donald Trump. I suppose
- 35:27Speaker 2: Donald Trump does too. But the issue here is law
- 35:29Speaker 2: and order. And I asked our US analyst Christen tight
- 35:33Speaker 2: whether the Chicago move could really happen.
- 35:36Speaker 17: I sure hope it is. Look this embracing we are
- 35:40Speaker 17: seeing by so many Americans right now to Trump's federal
- 35:43Speaker 17: takeover of these cities or potential federal takeovers, is a
- 35:46Speaker 17: response to persistent public disorder. American cities have become an embarrassment, Chris,
- 35:53Speaker 17: and it's one of the reasons families in particular are
- 35:56Speaker 17: emptying out of these big cities that are dangerous, like Chicago.
- 35:59Speaker 17: They don't want to live there anymore.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, Chicago the fourth or fifth biggest city
- 36:04Speaker 1: in the US. It's in Illinois.
- 36:06Speaker 2: He was what the Democrat gav of Illinois had decided.
- 36:09Speaker 1: We're very pleased about the progress that we're making.
- 36:11Speaker 16: I know that I live rent free in the President's head,
- 36:15Speaker 16: and I wish he would spend.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Some time in Chicago so that you could see what
- 36:19Speaker 1: a lovely city we have. Governor car callab what do
- 36:21Speaker 1: you do.
- 36:22Speaker 8: If the National Guard is activated, he comes here.
- 36:25Speaker 2: It seems extraordinary Christian, it seems in denial. Everybody knows
- 36:29Speaker 2: that Chicago is a lovely city. They also know that
- 36:32Speaker 2: if you get a wife from the seife.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Pods, it's very dangerous. The statistics bear that out. Of course.
- 36:39Speaker 17: In twenty thirteen, the city recorded six hundred and seventeen homicides.
- 36:44Speaker 17: These cities are such great, shining symbols of American greatness,
- 36:49Speaker 17: and we are letting them be destroyed. We need strong
- 36:52Speaker 17: leadership in these places, and if the local leaders can't
- 36:54Speaker 17: figure it out, we're going to need someone like Trump
- 36:57Speaker 17: to go in there and fix their mass.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Kay, let's talk it about patriotism.
- 37:01Speaker 2: The President wants new laws to prosecute people for burning
- 37:05Speaker 2: the American flag.
- 37:06Speaker 1: He's what he's got to say.
- 37:07Speaker 8: You burn a flag, you get one year in jail.
- 37:09Speaker 8: You don't get ten years, you don't get one month.
- 37:11Speaker 8: You get one year in jail, and it goes on
- 37:13Speaker 8: your record.
- 37:15Speaker 16: And you will see flag burning stapping immediately.
- 37:18Speaker 2: And have a listen to the Gavner of Minnesota. Of course,
- 37:21Speaker 2: the block who is running to be vice president. Listen
- 37:23Speaker 2: to what he's got to say.
- 37:25Speaker 8: Think of how easy it would be to be a
- 37:26Speaker 8: damn Republican. Oh what should I wear today? This stupid
- 37:30Speaker 8: freaking red hat. What should I say today? I don't know.
- 37:33Speaker 8: Just make sure it's cruel. Who do we listen to
- 37:36Speaker 8: that guy? Oh, the felon in the White House? Yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 8: listen to him and that will be fine. Now he's
- 37:41Speaker 8: talking about burning flags. He's gonna have flag burning or whatever.
- 37:44Speaker 18: Because he knows there's a hell of a lot of
- 37:45Speaker 18: flags with his picture on it that are going to
- 37:47Speaker 18: get burned.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Kristen, But I get it, do they?
- 37:52Speaker 17: They really don't. It seems that Tim Moultz has mastered
- 37:55Speaker 17: the fine art of speaking liberal buzzword. I think he
- 37:58Speaker 17: spent too much time around Calm Harris because they truly
- 38:01Speaker 17: don't get it. I am all for this idea of
- 38:04Speaker 17: Trump's burning the American flag. It's a blatant assault on
- 38:09Speaker 17: what our nation stands for. That flag represents the bloodshed
- 38:12Speaker 17: by generations of brave men and women who fought to
- 38:16Speaker 17: preserve our freedoms and our way of life, and to
- 38:19Speaker 17: burn it is to just spit on their legacy. I
- 38:21Speaker 17: am the product, Chris of public education in this country.
- 38:25Speaker 17: I also went to a four year private university, and
- 38:28Speaker 17: I can tell you all through my education, I and
- 38:31Speaker 17: these students with me were indoctrinated to despise this country.
- 38:34Speaker 17: It's disgusting what's going on. And that's why you have
- 38:37Speaker 17: a generation of young Americans now who don't appreciate what
- 38:41Speaker 17: we have in this country, who encourage this kind of thing,
- 38:45Speaker 17: and these hoodlums in the street and burning the flag.
- 38:48Speaker 1: It's got to end.
- 38:48Speaker 17: So I love that Trump is taking a stand for this.
- 38:51Speaker 2: I also love that Tim Walls is still about cooling
- 38:54Speaker 2: the Republicans stupid.
- 38:56Speaker 1: It's got the deplorable sense about it.
- 39:00Speaker 2: In that spirit, let's show people a reminder of the
- 39:03Speaker 2: democratic alternative.
- 39:05Speaker 8: So I've become friends with school shooters.
- 39:07Speaker 19: I can imagine what can be and be unburdened by
- 39:09Speaker 19: what has been.
- 39:10Speaker 1: You know that stuff is weird.
- 39:12Speaker 8: They come across weird. Well, it's true, these guys are
- 39:14Speaker 8: just weird.
- 39:15Speaker 1: But we're not afraid of weird people.
- 39:17Speaker 8: We're a little bit creeped out, but we're not afraid.
- 39:19Speaker 19: There is great significance to the passage of time in
- 39:22Speaker 19: terms of what we need to do to see the
- 39:25Speaker 19: moment in time in which we exist and are present.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Excuse me, Brake Kamala Harrison, Tim Walls, the anti stupid
- 39:37Speaker 2: people in politics, give me.
- 39:40Speaker 1: They are the opposite. They are the opposite.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Let's quickly get onto Donald Trump and international affairs. He's
- 39:45Speaker 2: got a bit testy when talking about Vladimir put and
- 39:48Speaker 2: have a look.
- 39:49Speaker 16: Every conversation I have with him is a good conversation.
- 39:52Speaker 16: And then unfortunately Obama is loaded up into Kieva someplace,
- 39:56Speaker 16: and then I get very angry about it.
- 40:00Speaker 8: I think we're going to get the word.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Done this to Yeah, frustration with Vladimir Putin there, and
- 40:05Speaker 2: also no word yet on when Vladimir Putin is going
- 40:08Speaker 2: to have his long heralded summit with the Ukrainian President
- 40:11Speaker 2: Vladimir Zelensky.
- 40:13Speaker 8: Have a look, why do.
- 40:15Speaker 16: You think President Putin is so reluctant to meet with
- 40:18Speaker 16: President Zelenski.
- 40:19Speaker 13: Because he doesn't like him.
- 40:21Speaker 16: He doesn't like you don't they don't like. I have
- 40:23Speaker 16: people I don't like. I don't like to meet with him.
- 40:26Speaker 16: Sometimes they do like to meet with people I don't like.
- 40:30Speaker 1: They don't like.
- 40:31Speaker 8: No, they don't like each other.
- 40:32Speaker 16: Really.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Yeah, fascinating insights there, Christian. But the pressure's on, isn't it.
- 40:37Speaker 2: I mean, Trump's got to deliver this summit. He promised it.
- 40:39Speaker 2: He's going to try and make it happen.
- 40:41Speaker 1: And if if.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Putin keeps stalling, then he's going to have to get
- 40:45Speaker 2: tough with Russia, tougher with Russia.
- 40:48Speaker 17: You're right, Trump has finally met his match in terms
- 40:52Speaker 17: of ego, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. They both have
- 40:56Speaker 17: extremely big egos, and unfortunately, Putin, in this equation with Zelenski,
- 41:00Speaker 17: holds almost all of the cards. I mean, Zelenski is
- 41:03Speaker 17: almost irrelevant here. It's all about Putin and Trump. And
- 41:08Speaker 17: Trump has tried the tactic of trying to be friendlier
- 41:12Speaker 17: with Putin, you know, keeping the lines of communication open,
- 41:15Speaker 17: and it's worked a little bit, I guess in terms
- 41:18Speaker 17: of getting Putin to the table. But yes, this has
- 41:22Speaker 17: turned out to be a much more significant and difficult
- 41:25Speaker 17: problem to solve than Trump thought on the campaign trail,
- 41:29Speaker 17: and now it makes him look.
- 41:31Speaker 1: A little bit weak.
- 41:33Speaker 17: I have to admit that he hasn't solved this problem
- 41:36Speaker 17: as fast as he as he promised he could, so
- 41:39Speaker 17: he needs to try some different tactics here.
- 41:41Speaker 2: He sure does, sure does. He's got a crack down
- 41:43Speaker 2: on Russia and money talks. That might be the first step.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us again, Christin. We'll catch you next week.
- 41:50Speaker 17: Thank you, Chris.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Yeah, fascinating stuff, don't forget.
- 41:54Speaker 2: At the top of the ah, we'll be bringing you
- 41:56Speaker 2: that press conference from the Victorian Chaef Police Commissioner that's
- 42:00Speaker 2: on the latest of this shocking police shooting. Two police
- 42:03Speaker 2: officers shot dead, one wounded. The gunman still at lars.
- 42:06Speaker 2: But we'll take a break now and coming up after
- 42:08Speaker 2: the break, Susio Brian and Stephen Sena Timpe will join me.
- 42:11Speaker 2: We'll discuss the coalition's spat now they have a net zero.
- 42:20Speaker 2: This got to our Tuesday panel with Susio O'Brien, whose
- 42:22Speaker 2: News Corps National Education editor.
- 42:25Speaker 1: She joins us from Melbourne and.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Radio two Double See Breakfast host in the nation's capital,
- 42:29Speaker 2: Stephen Sena Tiempo.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Thanks for both joining us on such a big news day.
- 42:33Speaker 2: We'll be having the Victorian Police Commissioner alive on air
- 42:36Speaker 2: at six o'clock as he addresses the media about this
- 42:39Speaker 2: ongoing situation in Victoria.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Two police officers tragically dead.
- 42:43Speaker 2: At the moment, Suso, I just want to go back
- 42:46Speaker 2: into politics for a moment though, and the federal.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Coalition arguing now about net zero, Susan Lee saying, let's
- 42:52Speaker 1: wait and have this review.
- 42:53Speaker 2: We're working at all through methodically, Others saying, now let's
- 42:56Speaker 2: take a position now and scrap net zero. Now, which
- 43:00Speaker 2: do you think is the most sensible approach?
- 43:04Speaker 9: Well, I mean they certainly need to do something on
- 43:07Speaker 9: this issue, and look at the last election result and
- 43:11Speaker 9: it's just so damaging for the Libs to have like
- 43:15Speaker 9: the far right flank of the party be the loud
- 43:18Speaker 9: voices on this and all it does with them calling
- 43:20Speaker 9: for you abolishment of any kind of targets at all.
- 43:24Speaker 9: It just fuels this idea that the Libs think that
- 43:27Speaker 9: climate change isn't real and most people within the right
- 43:31Speaker 9: of the party don't believe that. But you know, it's
- 43:34Speaker 9: a massive mess and a huge distraction for Susan Lee
- 43:37Speaker 9: because the thing is the party is leaking like a
- 43:40Speaker 9: sieve and you know these things, there's nothing methodical about
- 43:43Speaker 9: this kind of debate.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, here's what Dante, and he's the front bench who
- 43:47Speaker 2: has to sort this out. Here's what he had to
- 43:49Speaker 2: say today on Sky.
- 43:52Speaker 8: You've said that you were supportive. Are you still supportive.
- 43:55Speaker 8: Well that zero.
- 43:56Speaker 1: We're working through a process at the moment.
- 43:59Speaker 18: But I've said quite clearly on the record on a
- 44:01Speaker 18: number of times that I support net zero by twenty fifty.
- 44:05Speaker 12: Can you keep the party together, the coalition together through
- 44:08Speaker 12: this process?
- 44:08Speaker 1: Well, look my aim, I don't envy your job.
- 44:11Speaker 8: No, thanks, thanks, Karent.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Look I've always had tough jobs in politics. Yeah, there
- 44:18Speaker 1: you go, Steven, what do you reckon? They should do well?
- 44:22Speaker 8: They need to have been in net zero today.
- 44:23Speaker 18: But I think Susie's comment highlights exactly what the problem
- 44:26Speaker 18: the Liberal Party's got is. She says, the far right
- 44:28Speaker 18: flank of the Liberal Party is running. There is no
- 44:30Speaker 18: far right flank of the Liberal Party. Let's be honest
- 44:32Speaker 18: about that. But that's the narrative that's out there. And
- 44:35Speaker 18: we have the Prime Minister come out the other day
- 44:36Speaker 18: and say, if you don't believe in net zero, you
- 44:39Speaker 18: don't believe in climate change. Well, I know you combatd
- 44:42Speaker 18: that on your program. I editorialized about it. Caroline Deruso
- 44:45Speaker 18: has written about it on sky news dot com dot
- 44:47Speaker 18: a you which coalition member has come out and said
- 44:49Speaker 18: that is absolute rubbish.
- 44:50Speaker 8: Yeah, because we don't believe.
- 44:51Speaker 18: In net zero, this unattainable goal that you have set,
- 44:55Speaker 18: and even your experts say you can't achieve it. It
- 44:57Speaker 18: doesn't mean we don't believe in climate change, but nobody
- 45:00Speaker 18: is out there saying that.
- 45:01Speaker 8: And now you've got the Nats out there.
- 45:02Speaker 18: Saying we are going to take nuclear to the election
- 45:05Speaker 18: because that was the deal we did with the Liberals.
- 45:07Speaker 18: But the Liberals are going to take another year to
- 45:08Speaker 18: determine whether or not they're going to live up to
- 45:10Speaker 18: the deal. I mean, it's just they need to stand
- 45:12Speaker 18: for something, and if you look at their performance in
- 45:14Speaker 18: the first two weeks of Parliament and again today and yesterday,
- 45:18Speaker 18: they're just a directionless rabble. What they need to do
- 45:21Speaker 18: is change leaders and actually stand for something and move
- 45:23Speaker 18: in one direction.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Look, I couldn't disagree with what you've said, Stephen, because.
- 45:28Speaker 1: They're so clear. No one's making the argument. Susie.
- 45:31Speaker 2: You you go with this line, which is reflecting the
- 45:33Speaker 2: elbow line and which is the line of a lot
- 45:35Speaker 2: of the media and what the label will throw at
- 45:38Speaker 2: them that you know, you just climate deniers.
- 45:40Speaker 1: You don't want to do anything.
- 45:40Speaker 2: But because no one's pushing back any alternative argument, they
- 45:43Speaker 2: don't push back against the stupidity from labor pretending that
- 45:47Speaker 2: net zero can be achieved in the first place, pretending
- 45:50Speaker 2: that renewables are pushing prices down when we all know
- 45:53Speaker 2: they're going up, and also pretending that what we do
- 45:56Speaker 2: in Australia is going to somehow change the climate. Yet
- 45:59Speaker 2: they get away with that day in, day out because
- 46:00Speaker 2: the coalition is not making the argument.
- 46:05Speaker 1: That's exactly right.
- 46:06Speaker 9: They're not making the argument and they're not supporting their leader.
- 46:09Speaker 9: That's a backbench rabble. I mean, it is, like I
- 46:12Speaker 9: said before, it is a massive distraction for Susan Lee.
- 46:14Speaker 9: I mean, I'm sure that she would just want this
- 46:16Speaker 9: off the table because they're not agreeing with each other
- 46:21Speaker 9: and they're not supporting each other, and it just makes
- 46:24Speaker 9: her look like a week leader over an issue that
- 46:27Speaker 9: is not at the forefront of the voter's minds at
- 46:30Speaker 9: this point in time, because they want they want movement
- 46:34Speaker 9: on cost of living, not on this issue, which you
- 46:38Speaker 9: know the party's already said they're going to take another
- 46:39Speaker 9: year to make a decision.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Get a If you look at you, if you don't
- 46:43Speaker 2: know all you need to know about energy and climate now,
- 46:48Speaker 2: then you shouldn't be in politics.
- 46:49Speaker 1: So of course there's going to be more information in
- 46:51Speaker 1: the future, but you should be right across it now.
- 46:53Speaker 2: I just want to go to a couple of other
- 46:54Speaker 2: issues before we run out of time. A Victorian business
- 46:58Speaker 2: leader has been saying that this work from home culture
- 47:02Speaker 2: is really undermining profits and economic development. This comes at
- 47:06Speaker 2: the same time that Anthony are but Easy's spooking this
- 47:09Speaker 2: right to disconnect stuff. I mean, Stephen, for a government
- 47:13Speaker 2: that wants to boost productivity, we've got everybody working from
- 47:16Speaker 2: home and switching off the phone.
- 47:18Speaker 1: That's the opposite of productivity.
- 47:20Speaker 18: Well, we know this is a government left run by
- 47:23Speaker 18: its extreme left faction and by the ACTU and the
- 47:26Speaker 18: union movement, and that's the problem because they have a
- 47:29Speaker 18: they're diametrically opposed to anything that represents anything like productivity.
- 47:33Speaker 18: But I think we've got to be careful not to
- 47:34Speaker 18: just blame work from home for everything.
- 47:36Speaker 8: Now.
- 47:37Speaker 18: I know Reese, the CEO of Reese, has come out
- 47:39Speaker 18: and said that that's one of the large drivers for
- 47:41Speaker 18: why they're having real problems at the moment. But it's
- 47:44Speaker 18: not the only thing that is going to destroy a
- 47:46Speaker 18: business that size.
- 47:47Speaker 8: Now it's small businesses.
- 47:48Speaker 18: It will kill and particularly there's right to right to
- 47:50Speaker 18: disconnect rubbish that the PM goes on with every Friday,
- 47:53Speaker 18: puts a TikTok video up about it. But we've got
- 47:56Speaker 18: to be careful not to know to acknowledge that there
- 47:58Speaker 18: are other factors in the me that are affecting business,
- 48:01Speaker 18: like energy prices for starters.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and the fact of course that working from home
- 48:05Speaker 2: in the right circumstances can boost productivity.
- 48:08Speaker 1: But we'll have to leave it there.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Thanks so much for joining us, Steven, said a Champo
- 48:11Speaker 2: and Susio O Brian, we'll catch up with you next week.
- 48:13Speaker 2: I just want to share some of your feedback from
- 48:15Speaker 2: what I had to say last night about the crisis
- 48:18Speaker 2: facing this country, particularly when it comes to these pro
- 48:20Speaker 2: Palatinian protests and the shocking messages we've seen pushed about
- 48:24Speaker 2: the place. It plays into today's main story too.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Of course.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Luke says he's a shame to be an Australian under
- 48:30Speaker 2: Alberanezi in the current government.
- 48:31Speaker 1: It's bloody disgusting. I stand with Israel. Another viewer says
- 48:35Speaker 1: ignorance is bliss until it isn't.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Keep this stuff out of Australia, and Jay says what
- 48:41Speaker 2: has happened to Australia. Thank God for the few sane
- 48:44Speaker 2: and brave people still willing to speak the truth.
- 48:47Speaker 1: And Leicester says.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Fed up doesn't come close to describing how I feel
- 48:54Speaker 2: about these people and their enablers. Yeah, that's the point,
- 48:58Speaker 2: as I said, and I've shown you again these protesters
- 49:02Speaker 2: are calling for interfata. That is, they are calling for
- 49:05Speaker 2: a terrorist uprising against Israel again.
- 49:07Speaker 1: And they're singing from the river to the sea, that is,
- 49:10Speaker 1: they're chanting for the elimination of Israel.
- 49:12Speaker 2: That is not peaceful protest against the sort of hatred
- 49:16Speaker 2: and division that Iran wants to sew. Let's go to
- 49:19Speaker 2: Steve Price now Phillim for Peter Quailin. Don't forget that
- 49:22Speaker 2: police commissioner coming up live.
