- 0:00Welcome to a loud and lifted quick lifts. I'm
- 0:02your host Betsy Ham. And in every loud and lifted
- 0:05episode, there are a few moments that deserve
- 0:07an extra spotlight. And this one's blooming with
- 0:10bold insight. Julie Webb doesn't just talk about
- 0:13leadership. She lives it. And in under 10 minutes,
- 0:15we're digging into the real roots of growth from
- 0:18clarifying your values to building the courage
- 0:20muscle and becoming the kind of woman who blooms
- 0:22where she's planted on purpose. So let's dig
- 0:25into the key takeaways and action items from
- 0:28the episode with Julie. Key takeaway number one,
- 0:39know your roots. Your values are your anchor.
- 0:42If I ask you right now, what are your top three
- 0:44values that are important to you? Can you name
- 0:46them? For as important as values are, it's something
- 0:49that we don't spend a lot of time thinking about
- 0:51or talking about personally. You know, a lot
- 0:53of times we get hung up on talking about company
- 0:56values and while that's important, we can't really
- 0:58control our company values and ensuring that
- 1:00others are acting in the best behaviors or attitudes
- 1:03of our company. But what we can control is our
- 1:06own personal values and identifying what they
- 1:08are and then making decisions based off of them.
- 1:11Think about how much our values impact. They
- 1:14impact our decision making. They're our compass.
- 1:16They help us make choices that align with our
- 1:18core beliefs and priorities. They help impact
- 1:21our clarity and purpose. Identifying our values
- 1:23brings clarity to our life, helping us understand
- 1:26what truly matters and what you want to achieve.
- 1:29Values impact our personal growth, as well as
- 1:32our relationships, how you interact with others,
- 1:34or who you choose to interact with. Values also,
- 1:37of course, impact our career and our life choices.
- 1:40It helps you choose a career path and make life
- 1:42decisions that are truly meaningful for you.
- 1:44So, considering how important they are, what
- 1:47are your values? If you're not sure where to
- 1:49start, Julie mentioned a great idea of just Googling
- 1:52values and seeing what kind of words come up.
- 1:55You'll see things like integrity, accountability,
- 1:58honesty, creativity. Action item for today is
- 2:01take five minutes and write down the three values
- 2:04that matter most to you. They'll keep you grounded
- 2:06when the wind picks up and help you say yes to
- 2:08the right things. Takeaway number two, pause
- 2:11with purpose. Reflection is where growth starts.
- 2:15I love this one. This is one that I can certainly
- 2:17do better. We're all so busy. We have a million
- 2:20things going on, crossing things off of our list
- 2:22personally and professionally. When's the last
- 2:24time you took a moment to pause for yourself,
- 2:28by yourself, and just reflect? Evaluate on what
- 2:31you've accomplished. Celebrate the victories.
- 2:34Learn from your mistakes. Check in on the direction
- 2:36you're headed. Now, this doesn't mean you have
- 2:39to go to a spa for the day and relax, but that's
- 2:42actually a really great idea. This is taking
- 2:44a few minutes and sitting outside in your backyard.
- 2:47Maybe it's sitting in a room by yourself. Maybe
- 2:49you go grab a coffee and hang out and just take
- 2:52a few minutes to reflect. So that's your action
- 2:55item for this week. Take one intentional pause.
- 2:59get quiet, get uncomfortable, and ask yourself
- 3:02if you're headed in the right direction of where
- 3:04you want to be. Key takeaway number three, cultivating
- 3:08courage. Fear is natural, courage is a choice.
- 3:12Now, we have those days, right? Some days you
- 3:14feel very courageous and other days maybe not
- 3:17so much. But it's kind of interesting to think
- 3:20about, you have to sometimes practice being courageous.
- 3:24And that means taking little steps. Maybe you're
- 3:27a little shy to ask somebody to coffee that you
- 3:29want to network with, or maybe you're not sure
- 3:32if you have the courage to apply for a job. Or
- 3:35something that can be challenging is asking your
- 3:36boss for a salary increase. Sometimes we have
- 3:39to start small and build up our confidence. And
- 3:42guess what? At times you're going to hear no,
- 3:44and that's okay. but continue to acknowledge
- 3:47and front your fears, have some positive self
- 3:50-talk, and again, get uncomfortable. And you
- 3:53know what? I think this is a great one for kids.
- 3:55And I think this is something that I was doing
- 3:57and didn't even really think about. But getting
- 4:00your kids outside their comfort zone and challenging
- 4:02them, even when they're young, I remember when
- 4:05my girls were really small, we'd be at a restaurant
- 4:07and I would always make them order their own
- 4:09food. And of course, sometimes they'd be shy,
- 4:11maybe not have the courage, but then they continued
- 4:14to build that and to gain the confidence. So
- 4:16I think this is something you can practice with
- 4:18your kids and challenging them and getting them
- 4:20outside their comfort zone from a very young
- 4:22age. age and of course that continues to grow
- 4:25as they do. Action item for today, start small
- 4:29but practice daily. Speak up, say yes, maybe
- 4:33it's saying no, but be intentional. Abundance
- 4:36doesn't mean having it all, it means trusting
- 4:38there's enough space for you to rise. Number
- 4:41four, we talked about blooming and creating your
- 4:43flower with Julie. Blooming requires courage,
- 4:46but it's also time, intention, and support. So
- 4:49let's break down the metaphor of blooming one
- 4:52more time that Julie talked about. First, there's
- 4:55the roots, and those are your values. Remember,
- 4:57you're already going to think about what your
- 4:58values are and what's important to you. But what
- 5:01grounds you when the wind picks up? Next is the
- 5:03soil. The soil is your environment. What mindsets,
- 5:07boundaries, and energy sources are feeding or
- 5:09depleting you? The next part of your flower is
- 5:12the stem, and this is the courage. I love that
- 5:15Julie mentioned the quote from Brene Brown. Strong
- 5:17back, soft front, and don't forget the wild heart.
- 5:21And then there's your flower. Your flower is
- 5:23your purpose. What do you want the world to see
- 5:25from your bloom? And lastly, the garden. The
- 5:30garden is your community. It's what surrounds
- 5:31you because flowers grow stronger when they're
- 5:34together. So the action item for here is I invite
- 5:38you take some time to reflect. There's a lot
- 5:39of reflecting for the action items this episode.
- 5:43But think about what are you cultivating? What
- 5:45do you need more of in your soil? And where is
- 5:49your courage and showing up? Julie drew her flower,
- 5:52which I think is a great opportunity to use your
- 5:55creativity. And as she mentioned, being creative
- 5:57helps to reduce stress. So get your markers out
- 6:00and draw your flower. We'll share Julie's and
- 6:02we're going to share mine. We would love to see
- 6:04yours too. But this is an opportunity to really
- 6:07be intentional about what's important to you.
- 6:10You don't need perfect conditions to grow and
- 6:12there's going to be wind and rain and things
- 6:14you can't control. However, you need courage,
- 6:17clarity, and a little dirt under your nails.
- 6:20So take the pause, name your values, and start
- 6:24designing a life that blooms boldly and on your
- 6:27terms. If you haven't listened to Julie's episode,
- 6:30I strongly encourage that you do. Until next
- 6:33time, keep growing and keep lifting.
