- 0:51draft? Sorry.
- 0:52You almost gave Josh a heart attack.
- 0:54I know. Out of happiness, I want to
- 0:58draft now. I wanna know where my position
- 0:59in the draft is now. I wanna win the year.
- 1:05So many things, so many Fourth time for everything.
- 1:08Yeah, exactly. Doesn't even matter.
- 1:10It wouldn't be four in a row, so who cares?
- 1:14Yeah, only three in a row. Gosh.
- 1:15This first world problems. I'm 10 years running in our
- 1:18league of record and I still haven't won.
- 1:20I've recruited everybody to come.
- 1:21And beat me. He did.
- 1:25Recruit. He's not ideal.
- 1:27I think three years in a row in the playoffs, yeah.
- 1:30Yeah, and I still started a podcast with you.
- 1:35Good gracious. Yeah, he was he.
- 1:37Just wants our fantasy advice. That's what it is.
- 1:39Jake is employed to finally win the League of Record.
- 1:43Kevin, don't give. Away.
- 1:44He's our most avid listener. He's asking questions under like
- 1:50a pseudonym, like not Jake or something like that.
- 1:53So who do you think that this job spot?
- 1:58Takes my mask off Orman. No, no that is.
- 2:04That is not actually me. OK welcome in y'all.

- 3:34this, I feel like is now when we have so few people in it like
- 3:37you can, you know, get in there, ask all.
- 3:39Your direct access baby. Yeah, honestly, like get in now
- 3:43before it gets gets too popping, you know?
- 3:46We're never gonna be too popping for our fans, but yes, it's a.
- 3:50Yeah. Like wait, what?
- 3:56Yeah. Shall we begin with our?
- 4:01Top 10. Oh my God.
- 4:06Can I get a redo? Can I get a redo?
- 4:10I'll do the rewind. Thank you.
- 4:15Now we begin with our. Honorable mentions, yeah.
- 4:19Nice first try. You know, I'm trying to take
- 4:23inspiration from like the the Watch Mojo people out there.
- 4:26I know you guys know. Watch Mojo.
- 4:27But yeah. They do top 10s like no other.
- 4:29So yeah, I'm just trying to be like you one day.
- 4:33Alright, our honourable mentions for top left wings.
- 4:37We've got Clayton Keller, Cole Caufield, Andre Svechnikov, Alex
- 4:42to bring it and Matthew Nyes. I mean, I also want to preface
- 4:47this by if you listen to the centres kind of same disclaimer,
- 4:50but we're definitely taking into account banger banger stats when
- 4:54we're. Manger.
- 4:54Management this banger management.
- 4:56Regular management. We gotta specialize in something
- 5:00and we definitely specialize in Bangor category leagues, so
- 5:03that's definitely going to influence the rankings.
- 5:05I'm kind of it's crazy just to see the quality of players that
- 5:09are in the right now because all of these honorable mentions are
- 5:11sick fantasy players that I want on my roster.
- 5:14Except Andre. Really.
- 5:18Everybody's gonna yeah, Smash is our second biggest fan after me,
- 5:24and he's gonna draft himself everywhere and just destroy
- 5:28fantasy this year. Out of all these guys.
- 5:31Though not not actual advice. I would still fade, but.
- 5:36But all these guys are going one on my team the most is Clean
- 5:39Keller. Though Yeah, agreed.
- 5:40Really. Yeah, I think he has a highest
- 5:42shots slash point combination. It cost her like in general.
- 5:47Just in general, yeah, I think also be the most expensive out
- 5:50of this bunch as well. So yeah.
- 5:53OK, I think he's gonna produce the most of any of those
- 5:56honorable mentions. You guys are higher than 9 on
- 5:59NYS than I am and I think NYS is the guy I want the most.
- 6:02Really. Yeah, I mean, I, I feel like.
- 6:05Really nice. Is is like third or fourth out
- 6:08of these? Five really well, just like
- 6:10listen like there, there's a lot of back categories there and if
- 6:12he does hit 75 points with Matthews, it's pretty fun.
- 6:15I don't know that's. My number one is definitely
- 6:17Keller. I think he's super underrated
- 6:20still maybe being on Utah and before that Arizona, but he put
- 6:23up one point like getting 16 points last year.
- 6:26He shoots a ton. He's the He's talismanic for
- 6:30that Utah team. Fancy Miller entered the room.
- 6:37Who said my middle name? Yeah.
- 6:41So no, he's he's super great. I tried putting him on the top
- 6:44ten. You guys outvoted me but.
- 6:46But do you disagree with what what we said or no?
- 6:49No, I don't disagree, but. So don't put it like that.
- 6:52Throw us under the bus like that.
- 6:53I like stirring up some stuff, you know.
- 6:55But yeah, no, I'm super hot colour, I think.
- 6:57I think he's great. All right, consider the pot
- 7:01stirred and let's get into. Number. 10 Nice.
- 7:05At #10 of the Dallas Stars, we've got Kevin's worst enemy.
- 7:10Yes, Jason Robertson. Last season he had .98 points
- 7:14per game, .23 power play points and 2.6 shots.
- 7:19I think last year he was like arguably one of the biggest
- 7:22fantasy bus picks of like the first half of the season and
- 7:26then he kind of salvaged his year by the second-half.
- 7:28But I don't know, I feel like he we've seen his ceiling before
- 7:32and he's been riding the coattails of that production for
- 7:34a while. The last few seasons definitely
- 7:36haven't lived up to what we expect from him.
- 7:39The biggest thing with the guy of this, you know, archetype of
- 7:41player, whereas you, you know, just like points shots, that's
- 7:45kind of where you're getting power production, but zeros
- 7:47across the board in terms of category coverage for Bangor
- 7:50leagues and stuff. So blocks, hits, all that good
- 7:52stuff. But he wasn't even shooting that
- 7:54much last year. Like he was hovering around two
- 7:56shots a game. So what's the difference between
- 7:58why am I drafting Jason Robertson in the third round
- 8:00last year when I can get, you know, Robert Thomas in the 5th
- 8:05and he's getting more points and the same amount of shots, you
- 8:08know what I mean? So if he doesn't let.
- 8:10Me, let me do the devil's advocate for Robertson and why
- 8:15people shouldn't be on him as you are.
- 8:17Yeah. So first of all, his 109 point
- 8:20season was only three seasons ago.
- 8:23OK. Only I guess that's, you know,
- 8:24that's a bit. Long time in NHL terms.
- 8:27Yeah, but it's not like it was his first season.
- 8:29He hasn't done anything since Also last two years he put up
- 8:32almost point per game even with even though he wasn't 100 point
- 8:35guy. He also hasn't missed a game in
- 8:37three years, so it's just nice to have that durability.
- 8:41But the biggest thing in terms of last year is that he had a
- 8:43foot injury that made him miss training camp.
- 8:46And missing training camp is one of those things that I think
- 8:49when you haven't done fantasy for a while, you're like, OK,
- 8:52the guys healthy to start the season.
- 8:53Who cares if you miss training camp?
- 8:54Like he should be good to go, you know.
- 8:56But the more you do it, the more you notice that often guys who
- 8:58have slow starts are the guys who missed training camp because
- 9:01training camps there for a reason, you know.
- 9:03And you know, you mentioned how he had a really brutal start to
- 9:05the year, but then he turned it on 2nd half of the year and was
- 9:08right back at that pace that you would expect from him.
- 9:10So it really correlates with that injury and missing it.
- 9:13This year. He's not injured.
- 9:15He's going in fully healthy. He should have that entire
- 9:18training camp ahead of him. He's going to want to bounce
- 9:20back. And he has ranting in now to
- 9:22play with as well. I don't know.
- 9:24I think, I think Robertson's gonna have a good year.
- 9:27I think there is something to having too many miles to feed on
- 9:29dollars. Like we're all happy talking
- 9:31about stack, you know, pairing Icon and Marner together and all
- 9:35of this. And it feels like when it comes
- 9:37to Dallas, we almost count that as a negative.
- 9:39But The thing is they do have 3 viable lines that share the
- 9:44elite playing time depending on what they need at any given
- 9:47moment. But that's why with Roberts, I
- 9:49just feel like he hasn't done it in so long.
- 9:51His ceiling feels like a flash in the pan compared to if we're
- 9:55looking at his other ceiling, the seasons besides that 100
- 9:58point season, it's all kind of been around the same level and
- 10:00that level is around a point per game and around like 2 1/2 shots
- 10:03per game, which is honestly you want that on your fantasy team
- 10:06is just depends on the cost. And I feel like recently he's
- 10:08just been too expensive for what he's giving you.
- 10:12And that's honestly one of the main reasons why I'm lower on
- 10:14him. It's just a cost.
- 10:16You don't think that Rantanen being on Dallas now is going to
- 10:20boost their power play and Robertson's value at all?
- 10:22Because I mean, Robertson's left wing, right in his right wing.
- 10:24They should both be playing on line, one power play one
- 10:26together. No, obviously it's, it's a, it's
- 10:29a question, but I don't know, like I just feel like they could
- 10:33all be great and all get like 8085 points, but they don't have
- 10:39anybody that's a standout that's getting like 100 points.
- 10:41You know what I mean? That's what I'm, that's what I'm
- 10:43worried about. And I just feel like I'm, I
- 10:46don't think he has the elite shot volume and or category
- 10:50covers to compare to these other guys that are on this list.
- 10:53Where would you be happy to take Robertson?
- 10:55What round? You got to give me some, would
- 10:57you Rathers? But I mean, all these guys ahead
- 10:59of him, I take ahead of him that I don't want to spoil any names.
- 11:04That's why he's #10 and not number one, but yeah.
- 11:06But I think even like, for me it was, it was really close between
- 11:09Keller and Robertson. I argued to put Robertson on the
- 11:12list because I feel like I'm in the minority in terms of being
- 11:15lower on him in general this season.
- 11:17And I feel like most people would take Robertson ahead of
- 11:19him because, you know, we've seen the ceiling before.
- 11:21So we know what the range of outcomes it's there.
- 11:23But yeah, between him and Keller, I feel like you're
- 11:27probably drafting Robertson ahead of him just because of ADP
- 11:30and what you know. But at the end of the day, like,
- 11:32who are you appear to have on your fantasy roster?
- 11:34Probably Keller. Yeah, but I think Robertson
- 11:37might drop because I think people might be low on him like
- 11:39you are. I think that's the big question.
- 11:41If people are as low on Robertson as Kevin is, then I'm
- 11:45super happy to snatch him up at A at a nice spot.
- 11:48You know, if people think that he's still that 100 point guy
- 11:51and he gets drafted accordingly, then yeah, I'm feeding him as
- 11:53well. Like would you rather have Jason
- 11:55Robertson or Nick Suzuki? I think Suzuki.
- 12:02That's tough. Probably, probably Suzuki, but I
- 12:06mean that's centre versus left wing.
- 12:07So that affects things a bit because centre is a bit deeper.
- 12:10Robertson or Robert Thomas? Thomas.
- 12:14Yeah, and Robert Thomas gets like two shots a game, right?
- 12:18So you know, yeah. Robertson or well, let me check
- 12:24if he's on our list, Tim Stutzel.
- 12:29Stutzel. Stutzel.
- 12:31OK, then. I mean, maybe we have an.
- 12:34Issue. But to to be to be clear, I
- 12:37counted still as a centre. That's why he's not on this
- 12:39list. OK, fair.
- 12:39Yeah, yeah. Robertson, Robertson or Wyatt
- 12:42Johnston. Robertson.
- 12:47That's tough for me. That's a good one for me.
- 12:49Too. That's so tough.
- 12:49For tough for me too. Yeah, same to.
- 12:51You actually we just keep projecting why, Johnson to take
- 12:53another step up, another step up, another step up, but.
- 12:56I mean, Johnson's not gonna be line one, he'll be power play
- 12:59one, but he's gonna be like line 3 power play one or line 2 power
- 13:02play one or something like that. Whereas Robertsons line one
- 13:04power play 1. I don't see why Johnston should
- 13:06do better than Robertson. Robertson or Bedard?
- 13:09But probably Bedard. Let's get Bedard in here.
- 13:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:16So I mean we're talking about a fourth round pick, right.
- 13:18So that's that's kind of where we're at right now, fourth
- 13:20round. Fifth round is where you go in
- 13:21your drafts or where he's projected to go technically.
- 13:24Which I think he could return on that about you, but we'll see.
- 13:27Let's move on to. #9 #9. Oh my God, great.
- 13:35All right, at #9 we have my boy who I will mention in every
- 13:39episode that you guys let me Dylan Holloway of the Saint
- 13:43Louis Blues. Last season he had .82 points
- 13:45per game, .17 power play points, 2.3 shots and 2.1 hits.
- 13:51This is a Banger League stud. There this.
- 13:53Is like it's, it's amazing. This is a dream.
- 13:56Like this is exactly what we want in a bangers league.
- 13:59I don't know if he was actually drafted to be that guy and then
- 14:01just kind of changed his style on Saint Louis.
- 14:03But whatever he did last year was amazing.
- 14:05And we spoken about he had that resurgence even when you've got
- 14:09even better when Montgomery got there, right?
- 14:11So that's just such a good sign and it bodes really well for him
- 14:14returning that value this year. We are all high on Saint Louis.
- 14:18We've spoken about this a lot. It's not too much more for me to
- 14:21say, but realistically he's going to be a huge, huge part of
- 14:24this team which is very likely to succeed.
- 14:27Yeah, I think we've talked about it a lot, so we don't have to
- 14:29talk about it too much. I think we all expect him to be
- 14:32hovering around point per game double, double this year.
- 14:34And I think that maybe a lot of people haven't caught on yet and
- 14:38he doesn't have the name value. So he could be a guy who might
- 14:40be able to get later than he should be got.
- 14:43I think the the biggest thing would Dylan Holloway is what is
- 14:47really great about his value is he has such a strong foundation
- 14:51and a floor that even on any given week, let's say he's in a
- 14:56slump and he doesn't get the points that you need.
- 14:58Like he's still gonna provide in the shots and the hits and you
- 15:00can rely on that. So it's not like he's getting
- 15:02you straight zeros if one week has an off weekend points.
- 15:04And I think that's honestly very underrated when it comes to
- 15:07fantasy value because we know how the season is a roller
- 15:09coaster on a weekly basis. Anything can happen, right?
- 15:12We've seen it like Jonathan Huberdeau, like he's getting
- 15:15zeros and then in one given week he's getting like, you know, 10
- 15:19points in one week and like, Oh my God, he's back and then
- 15:21zeros. But always not that guy.
- 15:23He's just gonna be consistent output.
- 15:24I think it's stealing is so high this year.
- 15:26He he could be way higher on this list next year.
- 15:29Josh is gonna take him in the third round of like every
- 15:31finance that he's in, so. Which I feel like is a good
- 15:34place to take him. Like, I don't know if he's going
- 15:35to. Exceed.
- 15:35I mean, it's gonna. Be it's gonna be a good.
- 15:37ADP. He's not gonna be close to there
- 15:39in ADP in your leagues. He's the type of player that you
- 15:41have to just screw the rankings and take him when you want to
- 15:44take them because somebody's gonna take him ahead of where
- 15:46he's going and it'll probably be a good pick.
- 15:49Yeah, he'll return on third round, maybe even become a
- 15:51second round value guy. Like I don't mind it there at
- 15:54all. Would you rather Dylan Holloway
- 15:58or Matt Boldy? That's a really hard one.
- 16:03That's a really hard. One I like I.
- 16:06Like Kevin you offers, Yeah. F word.
- 16:13F word. F word Give me Holloway.
- 16:18Wow. I know I I did what no man could
- 16:23not. I said it.
- 16:25Not it's so tough. I see Boldy getting more points
- 16:27and more power play points and more shots, but like, not
- 16:31necessarily that much in all those categories and then always
- 16:34gonna get just way more hits. Yeah.
- 16:38So just for the for the vibe of me loving Holloway, I'll go with
- 16:41Holloway. Well, that's really.
- 16:44Good. I don't know.
- 16:45I don't know if I have the balls to do that on draft day though.
- 16:47That's the thing. Seeing my boys name still there
- 16:49and then seeing how I have to Scroll down and get there on
- 16:51Holloway and then choosing one over the other.
- 16:53It just feels like it just feels like what's gonna happen is I'm
- 16:56gonna be on the clock in a third round and I'm gonna see Boli's
- 17:00name there. I'm just gonna be like I could
- 17:01just take Bold and get Holloway in the fourth round and then
- 17:03Josh would be like 5 pics later and I'm gonna make the decision
- 17:05for him. He's doing all away.
- 17:08Yeah, I see that happening, Yeah.
- 17:13Wow, this next one's interesting.
- 17:14I feel like I could have been 9 or 8 interchangeable, but I
- 17:19agree with the order for sure. Let's do. #8 but first I also
- 17:25want to say no, no, no no on on number. 8 ohm OK, but I just
- 17:30feel like there's. Definitely tears when we're
- 17:31making this. This list.
- 17:32I feel like #10 specifically is a tier in the zone.
- 17:35Like I feel like Jason Robertson is not in the same tier as the
- 17:37guys ahead of him. And I feel like on our list
- 17:40specifically, like 987 are all in the same tier.
- 17:43And I can see people having preferences depending on who it
- 17:46is. So number. 98.
- 17:50Alright hat #8, we have Jake the Snake against all of the Tampa
- 17:55Bay Lightning. Last year he was at exactly one
- 17:58point per game .35 power play points, 2.7 shots on goal, which
- 18:03is actually lower than I expected from him.
- 18:05From him I expect usually like around 3, a bit over three shots
- 18:08per game. People I feel like have mixed
- 18:12feelings on again. So I feel like at this point
- 18:16people have a, what is it called?
- 18:18Like name fatigue with Denzel, I feel like he's just been at the
- 18:21top for so long and he's not a flashy pick anymore.
- 18:24People know what they're getting with him, but there's always a
- 18:26more exciting option, it feels like.
- 18:28But I think it's just gonna be consistent.
- 18:30Like playing with Kucherov. Let me shoot me if I say like
- 18:34one more time, but he's he's playing with Kucherov on a Tampa
- 18:41Bay team that has an elite power play.
- 18:43All the all the pieces are there for him to have elite production
- 18:45once again. He can be easily over a point
- 18:48per game elite child volume as well close to 3A game.
- 18:52There's not many guys that you want over him to be honest in.
- 18:54Terms of left, I will say something.
- 18:56About 7 of them. Something that I noticed that
- 18:59was interesting with Denzel stats is last season he had an
- 19:0318.9 shooting percentage versus his career average of 15.7.
- 19:07So that's three-point 2% higher and he also took fewer shots
- 19:12than I would expect from him. So I'm wondering if because of
- 19:16the lower shots, the percentage went up or maybe just because
- 19:19this was his first year on Tampa, you know, he's not
- 19:21playing with Kucherov, so he's getting more goals because
- 19:25Kucherov setting up for great opportunities.
- 19:26And something interesting to look at maybe this higher goals
- 19:30but lower shots is the Jake Cancel on Tampa that you should
- 19:34expect instead of expecting him to be 3 plus shots like he's
- 19:37been in the past. I mean, we've, we've talked
- 19:39about this in the past where if we're seeing something be a
- 19:43catalyst for players change in value, like you have to be able
- 19:46to attribute it to something if you want to know if the value,
- 19:48if the production is going to be consistent, right?
- 19:50Either it's a new deployment change, like we spoke about it
- 19:53on our wave episodes last year. When there's a guy that's going
- 19:56off, like is he going off because he had a random week or
- 19:57did he get bumped up the line 1 and he's going off?
- 19:59You know what I mean? With Denzel, the career shooting
- 20:02percentage versus was on. Tampa, like a change of team is
- 20:05one of the most clearest catalysts you can have for a
- 20:08change in production. He's playing with one of the
- 20:09best passers in the league, so I'm not surprised that shooting
- 20:11percentage went up and he scored more points.
- 20:16Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:17Leave me hanging. Leave me hanging longer.
- 20:19No, no, no. I I do agree it's really like
- 20:24it's just not exciting to take him.
- 20:26Like, it's absolutely it. But that's kind of great, right?
- 20:29It's nice getting a guy who you know exactly what you're
- 20:31getting. He's not gonna get, he's not
- 20:33gonna outperform like crazy what you expect, but he's not gonna
- 20:36underperform. He's just gonna get you exactly
- 20:37what you're looking for, a solid.
- 20:38He won't around one point per game, around three shots.
- 20:41You know, you're happy. You take that to the bank.
- 20:43Yeah, he won't fall though, that's the thing.
- 20:45Like, you know what I mean? Like gonna get picked where
- 20:47where he's picking and if you. Want people like that stability.
- 20:49People like to know what they're getting.
- 20:51He's the type of player that somebody drafts and then
- 20:54throughout the year, it's like week 8 and you know, you just
- 20:57picked up a guy like you picked up the waiver wire hotness and
- 21:01you tried to flip him for the guy that's been stable.
- 21:03That's not flashy, you know what I mean?
- 21:04I feel like he's just a clear cut trade target that everybody
- 21:07tries to like get rid of their guy they just picked up.
- 21:09They don't know it's gonna be the same production for the rest
- 21:11of the season and level up to that guy that you know is going
- 21:13to be safe, you know? He's probably included in the
- 21:16most trade offers, been offered four trades of anybody, but I
- 21:19couldn't. Get him a lot.
- 21:20Last year I was, I was offering, I was overpaying for him.
- 21:23Last year I still didn't get him so.
- 21:25Yeah, because that's the thing. There's a very strong value to
- 21:27that stability of knowing week in and week out what you're
- 21:30getting. So like from the outside, it's
- 21:31like, oh, look at that, He's not being flashy.
- 21:33That guy must be willing to trade him, you know, Whereas the
- 21:35guy who owns him is like super happy having him.
- 21:37He's like this guy does exactly what I need him to every week
- 21:40and that's all I need. Yeah, OK, let's go to the next.
- 21:46#7 Alright, at #7 we've got Jake Guentzel's teammate Brandon
- 21:52Hagel, One of the biggest surprises of last season.
- 21:56He put up 1.1 points per game, a measly .13 power play points and
- 22:012.8 shots, along with a bunch of shorties.
- 22:04This was a crazy crazy like this might have been one of the
- 22:08biggest draft steals of last year.
- 22:09Yeah, I think this. Year is going to be one of the
- 22:12biggest deals as well, to be honest.
- 22:13I mean, I'm giving out the playbook right now, but I
- 22:17desperately want him on my team. He he he could have a 90 point
- 22:22ceiling like. This thing, like, look at what
- 22:24he did without any, He barely had any power play one time.
- 22:28Yeah, barely got any. Problem with that this year.
- 22:30Yeah, exactly. The person who had it over him
- 22:33was Nick Paul. Yeah, no shit.
- 22:36No shit to Nick Paul, but you know, I mean.
- 22:39A little shade, OK. I'll try to be nice.
- 22:42Yeah, no, this is a guy who, if he gets that power play one
- 22:46spot, it's gonna be a whole other level.
- 22:48And even without it, he's showing how great he can be.
- 22:51Like I mentioned the shorties as well, if your league counts
- 22:53that, that's just so nice to have.
- 22:56You know, it's not something you necessarily target in the draft
- 22:58that much because they feel like they're very, you know, kind of
- 23:01random at times. Yeah, but he was pretty
- 23:03consistent with it and just a nice little bonus onto
- 23:06everything else that he was doing.
- 23:07And also like, something crazy is he had exactly his career
- 23:11average shooting percentage last year.
- 23:13So it's not even you. Know it's reliable.
- 23:15That's if you could. Take a step up.
- 23:16Yeah, exactly. It's not like he did anything
- 23:18crazy in that sense where you're like OK, well it was luck.
- 23:20Like no, this is just this was for Tampa.
- 23:24This was the anti Tanner genome yes you know they like this was
- 23:28a genius move by Tampa getting. Before they had to go for
- 23:32Jeanneau. No for sure, but.
- 23:33They were trying to do it again, you know, they're like, they're
- 23:36like this big brain. So.
- 23:38Well, yeah, exactly. Let's trade a whole draft class
- 23:40version. Oh, and obviously that didn't
- 23:41work out. But yeah, I know he's a beast.
- 23:44And I think it's crazy cuz there's no way if you asked
- 23:47anyone before last year if they would take haggle over Gensel,
- 23:51everyone would say like, no, you're crazy.
- 23:52Obviously Gensel's the guy there.
- 23:54But now I, I think Hagel deserves to go ahead of if he
- 23:58doesn't draft, you know, we'll see what the name value and all
- 24:01that, but I think he's gonna bring more value than Denzel is.
- 24:05Who would you rather have, Brendan Hagel or yes, Brett?
- 24:09I think Brad. It really depends the uh, I
- 24:13think he gets. More Power play 1.
- 24:15And I think. That's exactly because of that
- 24:18risk, because like Brad. Gets like .4 something power
- 24:22play points last year per game whereas Hagel had like none.
- 24:25So that's because we. Saw Hagel get the amount of
- 24:29points you did last year already with the the not power play one
- 24:35yeah yeah, it's not about. The total points, it's
- 24:36specifically because our league has power play points as a
- 24:39category and a lot of value power play points.
- 24:41So that's just a big loss, right?
- 24:42They got around the same amount of points last year, but Brad
- 24:45got way more power play points. So it's like if you were going
- 24:48in assuming he's getting power Play 1, then I'm taking Hagel.
- 24:51But there is nice. It is something nice about
- 24:52drafting a guy and just knowing for a fact that he's not really
- 24:55one. I don't have to worry about it
- 24:56throughout the season for me. I think it's just I, I mean, we
- 25:00talked about, you know, everybody having their own risk
- 25:02tolerance. This is one of my shots where I
- 25:04take the shot on Hagel without, you know, the guarantee of power
- 25:06play wonders because I'm I'm honestly very convinced that you
- 25:09will get it. And it's it's not like the bar
- 25:11is so low. If he doesn't get it, the bar is
- 25:13what he did last year. Yeah, so.
- 25:15Imagine what? If he gets power play 1, he
- 25:17could like, it's crazy. Like is he going to break 100
- 25:21points if you do the math? Like if you do the math, yeah,
- 25:23he probably breaks 100 points. Like is he gonna get what I bet
- 25:26my house on him, get 100 points? No.
- 25:29But if you do the math, I don't know.
- 25:31No, I. Honestly, I changed my mind.
- 25:33I go here. You've convinced me this is.
- 25:36Gonna be like Cooley last year. All over Kevin's, all over the
- 25:40guy. Vince is like someone just.
- 25:43Like around or what people for me.
- 25:46But yeah, but there's a lot of good.
- 25:47Helpful content here. Like I didn't even have to use
- 25:52my burner this time. That's.
- 25:59Amazing. OK, let's go to.
- 26:03Number six, Alright, time. To rile Jakey up again.
- 26:09And number. 6 We've got the great 6 now.
- 26:13I mean the great Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals last
- 26:17year. 1.12 points per game .34 power play points, 3.7 shots,
- 26:211.7 hits. But I will say his shooting
- 26:26percentage last year was 18.6 versus a career of 13.1.
- 26:30That's 5.5 higher. Yeah, that's, that's a very
- 26:35interesting part of the the whole thing that like we haven't
- 26:38really touched when we spoke about, we spoken about Ovechkin
- 26:40probably the most of any player this offseason.
- 26:43So you could definitely go look at those episodes also for a bit
- 26:47more in depth analysis. But this is a massive
- 26:50discrepancy and it's extremely important. 5.5% is a huge swing.
- 26:56Like there's like I've been the biggest obsession through this
- 26:59whole offseason. I definitely can see his goals
- 27:02regressing after looking at this.
- 27:03This is crazy. I took.
- 27:04With some actual data to help convince you, who would have
- 27:08thought? No listen.
- 27:09Because I do still think Washington's gonna be a decent
- 27:12team. I don't think this is the reason
- 27:13that they were good, just because his outside shooting
- 27:15percentage. Nevertheless, yeah, I mean, he's
- 27:18probably walking away with 15%. Let's not forget that there was
- 27:22a huge 3-4 year period where goals were just a lot harder to
- 27:27come by than they are today. So I'm sure if Wick, we did this
- 27:31over the past two to three years, it's much closer to the
- 27:3318 mark. But the 18.6 is very high for
- 27:37someone who shoots this much like this is an outlier season.
- 27:41So yeah, I could see him getting into the 16 range with meaning
- 27:44his goals per game are gonna regress.
- 27:46OK, it is what it is. Nevertheless, we love him
- 27:48because of his his multi utility.
- 27:51I mean his shots and hits are gonna probably still be good.
- 27:55So, yeah, and I. Mean as much as I'm like quotes
- 28:00air quotes down on over this year.
- 28:02Kevin had mentioned something interesting on a previous time
- 28:05we spoke about him, which was the fact that he could be going
- 28:07for the hits record. You know, that's like it's in
- 28:10reach. And if he just starts, you know,
- 28:12hitting, he was doing 1.7 last year and he decides I'm gonna be
- 28:15hitting like 2.5. Three hits a game.
- 28:17You know, all of a sudden this is just a better like Brady
- 28:21could, Chuck could Chuck is like, you know, Chuck is going
- 28:24like number 567 overall in Vengers leagues.
- 28:28So that's definitely something to keep an eye on because it
- 28:31could be like. Man OV OV owners can't keep
- 28:34getting away with this like it's always the reason why.
- 28:36Elite. Even though probably supposed.
- 28:38To drop. That's it, let's say.
- 28:39Let's say his points per game drops to like .8, you know, and
- 28:43his shots dropped to like 3 point, you know, 3.2 or
- 28:46something, you know, but then his hits jump up to like 3 or 4
- 28:49to monster. Yeah, what?
- 28:51They don't deserve this, but so. That's that's definitely
- 28:53something to think about. I definitely do think the points
- 28:56are slowing down, but the back cats are gonna be there and they
- 28:59might even get better because of chasing another record.
- 29:01We saw what happened when he was chasing the goal record with
- 29:03this 5.5% discrepancy. So it's not crazy to think if he
- 29:07decides that's his goal for the season, he's going to make it
- 29:10happen. We'll just see.
- 29:11We don't know if he cares exactly.
- 29:14And I feel it's one of those things that is kind of so
- 29:16menial, like how long would you actually hold it for
- 29:18realistically as well? So it's like, that's why I'm
- 29:20like, OK, I don't think he's actually going to go for that.
- 29:23Also put he's 38. He don't actually don't break.
- 29:30Russian. Gas is real, but yeah.
- 29:33Another. Thing too is like we saw the
- 29:34shooting percentage be so high last year.
- 29:35Like obviously that's a product of him chasing the record to him
- 29:39being set up for success. Like obviously he's already
- 29:41given all the empty netters and everything like that, but they
- 29:44were setting them up even more this season to really get all
- 29:47the opportunities, the greater opportunities to score and is a
- 29:50great goal scorer. Obviously still has a touch.
- 29:52I think this year definitely takes a step back.
- 29:54It's just how big of a step back does he take and does his
- 29:57category coverage suffer at all or does it improve with Ovi?
- 30:02I I'm I'm over trying to predict exactly what's going to happen
- 30:06because on a year to year basis we have no idea and it just
- 30:09keeps going. So that's why you still number
- 30:11six. If it was up to me, I'd probably
- 30:13be lower on this list, but. You're taking Hagel over Ovi.
- 30:18I feel really realistically, why wouldn't I?
- 30:21Wow. Because of the shots.
- 30:22And hits and power play points, I know, but I'm.
- 30:25Already convinced I'm already. Yeah, but it just depends how
- 30:28bad you think he's gonna slow down.
- 30:30Can I see not hitting a point per game this year?
- 30:32Yeah, I can see you'll be getting getting 7075 points this
- 30:36year and three shots a game. No, I.
- 30:41I get, I get where you're going. Like is it the range?
- 30:43Of outcomes, you know what I mean?
- 30:44Yeah, I'm just saying like he's also older, like he doesn't have
- 30:46the record anymore, so if he's banged up, maybe he misses a few
- 30:49games. It's going to be interesting to
- 30:51see where Jake gets him this year.
- 30:53Yeah, second round up. Deal.
- 30:57It'd be like that Speaking of Russian guys and kind of, I
- 31:01would say a very opposite case then OV we have number.
- 31:07Five and. Number.
- 31:09We're getting better. We're gonna.
- 31:10Remember, that's good we've. Got Artemy Panarin, the bread
- 31:14man of the New York Rangers last year, put up 1.1 points per game
- 31:19.33 power play points, Three shots on goal and I would say he
- 31:23used to be like an automatic elite first round pick, right
- 31:26like, and now he jumped up in. Value where he was like, yeah.
- 31:30And now like, you may be able to get him as late as like early
- 31:333rd. I mean, usually probably second
- 31:35rounds, but you know, I don't think it would be crazy for that
- 31:39to happen. And he's only two years away
- 31:41from 120 point season and we expect the Rangers to bounce
- 31:45back this year. So I think he could be one of
- 31:47those early round steals. And I will say, like for a
- 31:49while, like Kevin and I kind of agreed to where we were.
- 31:52Like Panera is not necessarily type of guy I'm looking for
- 31:54because he's a pure points guy who doesn't contribute to other
- 31:56stuff. But three shots on goal per
- 31:58game, That's like, that's what I'm looking for, you know?
- 32:01He just hired though, that should be enough for.
- 32:02Sure, that's for sure. But but now if he's getting the
- 32:05shots along with that point potential, he's a guy I
- 32:08definitely like in round two this year who would rather.
- 32:11Have Panarin or Crosby. Hmm, if your league.
- 32:17Counts faceoff wins. Then I think you go across the
- 32:20answer no. Face off wins no face off.
- 32:22Wins. I'm going for Neuron.
- 32:24Me too. OK, but not for a.
- 32:27Faceoff win league. It's close enough that I I'm
- 32:29happy to take Crosby. Panera No.
- 32:31Forsberg. Forsberg, I think.
- 32:37I think I go Panarin. I think I actually go Panarin.
- 32:39Really, Josh, how? I mean, it's just, it's really
- 32:44the, the fact that Panarin had good shots last year.
- 32:46You know, like obviously Forsberg was at like 3.5 and
- 32:50then what, the 1.8 hits. So obviously that's nuts.
- 32:53But I think the Rangers are going to have a bounce back.
- 32:56Great year. I think Nashville sucks so the
- 32:59power play points should be big in planarians favour.
- 33:02Pan's had that 120 point season but we know 4 breeze.
- 33:05Always good even though I I love.
- 33:08Forsberg, it's not. It's not a knock on Forsberg.
- 33:10It's more just, uh, you know, saying that, I think Pan's
- 33:15really good. I mean, we have a top. 10 for a
- 33:17reason, right? So I guess we'll have to talk
- 33:18about that a little later. Yeah, but I I definitely like
- 33:23Forsberg. I don't know.
- 33:25Jake were on Forsberg. Yeah, Forsberg.
- 33:26Too, The reason I, I think he's kind of the exact opposite of OV
- 33:29is because, I mean, we all think the Rangers are going to be so
- 33:33much better and he's going to get the most points on the
- 33:35Rangers this year. I mean, maybe JT will JT Miller.
- 33:37Maybe I'm on the T train. They're gonna be.
- 33:40Together, there's gonna be a fun little beer.
- 33:42Bet, though, who do we think gets more points this year,
- 33:44Panarin or JT Miller, J? Panarin.
- 33:48Beer bet. Let's go.
- 33:51Alright, lock it in. I will say that when you're
- 33:54making this top ten, I had Forsberg of up in there and I
- 33:58just as I was talking about Byron, I just talked myself
- 34:01into. That's why I thought you like.
- 34:04Still Jake and I over, over over match.
- 34:06You do have a Forsberg ahead of him.
- 34:07Spoiler alert, but yeah, no. I I, I get while you were
- 34:10surprised because I just talked myself into it.
- 34:13But but yeah, no, I think I don't know it's you see that
- 34:18that 120 point season literally 2 years ago and you see the
- 34:22shots from last year and you like put those two things
- 34:24together and like that's amazing.
- 34:26I just think Panera. Probably get some 90 points.
- 34:28I can see Forsberg getting to like just under a point per
- 34:32game. So maybe let's say Max 15 points
- 34:36difference. 4 will get more shots and 150 more hits.
- 34:42Yeah. That's 100 and. 50 more hits
- 34:45like Panera is 0 and blocks zero and hits.
- 34:47He's getting shots, but it's not like Forsberg doesn't shoot.
- 34:49He's one of the best shooters in the league.
- 34:52I'm happy taking Forsberg over Panarin.
- 34:55Alright, fine, I'm. Back on the Forsberg train.
- 34:57Thank. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:59But. She's gonna trust me when they
- 35:01see how easily I'm sweet. No, but I was.
- 35:05Originally, though, I was originally on Forsberg.
- 35:08I talked myself into Panarin and I'm back on Forsberg.
- 35:10So it wasn't really that with him there.
- 35:12Was a blip blip. Like this?
- 35:15Next one and Panera and are super, super close though like
- 35:19talk about, you know, like I mean Forsberg to me I think is
- 35:22in a bit of that league up because of what Kevin just
- 35:24mentioned yeah, the different. Archetype as well, but this next
- 35:27one is like the same exact type of player.
- 35:28Same exact. One we have number.
- 35:31Four, I like the. Little clear beforehand we have.
- 35:38This is why I've been resting. My throat, I don't need to clear
- 35:40it. Nice.
- 35:42He's resting his instrument. OK at #4 we have Kyle Connor of
- 35:50the Winnipeg Jets. Last year he had 1.18 points per
- 35:53game .34 power play points, 3.3 shots and it was a huge breakout
- 36:00year for him. He had 36 more points than the
- 36:03year before. That's a crazy jump.
- 36:07Winnipeg was a. Complete gauntlet last, if you
- 36:09like. Everybody broke out, Yeah.
- 36:11I mean, Connor's like, he's like the second best player on that
- 36:14team after Gabe Vilardi. You know, a nickel in the.
- 36:18Jar. Yeah, no, he was the best
- 36:21player. Winnipeg had the best power play
- 36:23in the league last year. He used to be underrated.
- 36:25Even last year mid season, you guys were underrating him.
- 36:27You had you guys had THS over him.
- 36:29We made a beer bet about it. I was.
- 36:31I was a Connor. Hater last year like I I called
- 36:33my shot that he wasn't going to do anything out of the ordinary
- 36:36than what like he's usually doing, but I mean that was it
- 36:39blew up in my face like he yeah, nobody nobody gets 36 more
- 36:42points in the year before. Like for a lot of people that
- 36:44doubling their production like it's yeah, no, it's.
- 36:47Crazy. So I think that it's not just
- 36:49you guys. I think everyone now realizes
- 36:51that is the real deal and he's gonna go a lot earlier in drafts
- 36:55and I think even last year in our draft he went like fourth
- 36:57round, so it's not like he was going that late.
- 36:59But this year he's a second or third rounder for sure.
- 37:02What's the over under? On his points for you 95 I would
- 37:08say. 90, 90. Just because.
- 37:11Winnipeg was so good and I think.
- 37:14All of Winnipeg has to regress like they can't.
- 37:16They all played at their ceiling last year.
- 37:17Yeah, I just don't Washington. At the West.
- 37:21Yeah. Well.
- 37:22They're both sort W Yeah, exactly this.
- 37:26Yeah, the. Stats are all there.
- 37:27The advanced metrics I. Do really like Connor though as
- 37:32a pick so even though I think I have an over under 90, you know
- 37:37what kinda stands out more than anything last year was his
- 37:40assists. Not something that is super
- 37:43attached to. That's what created the jumping
- 37:45points Yeah cuz. Fort like 41 goals and then the
- 37:49year before 343147. It wasn't his career goal year
- 37:52but 56 is. He hasn't hit 50 assists before
- 37:56in a year ever. So I mean, and also as playoffs
- 37:59were monstrous, so that's one thing to note.
- 38:02I yeah, I think like a 90 points where I see him, but I also
- 38:08think his ceiling could be like 105 and his floor is 85.
- 38:13If he breaks 100 I'd be shocked. After the season we had last
- 38:17year, I feel like even more things we need to go right.
- 38:19He also played 82 games like the year prior.
- 38:21He played 65 I think last. Year was his ceiling, but I
- 38:24think that's a great feeling to have, yeah.
- 38:27For sure like what we expect. Jason Robertson to be.
- 38:31Honestly. Yeah, got his shot.
- 38:33Keep. Keep kicking him while he's
- 38:35down. I'm sorry.
- 38:37Yeah, everybody dropped Jason Robertson cause he's about to
- 38:39blow up because I keep I keep kicking him while he's down
- 38:43gets. More points this year Hagel or
- 38:45Connor? Connor.
- 38:46Connor. OK.
- 38:49OK, fair, but you could get table later, so yeah.
- 38:52Haggle later, I think, I think Connor is gonna end up getting
- 38:54drafted in the second round and I just feel like that's a little
- 38:57bit too rich for my for my money.
- 38:59That's fair, I agree. I love Connor, but I do think he
- 39:02gets drafted too early, yeah. Alright. #3 Yeah, put on
- 39:12purpose, not. Figure this out.
- 39:16Nobody's looking at the camera because I was watching you guys,
- 39:18but yeah #3. But then he didn't say it.
- 39:21I know. I wanna see what you.
- 39:21Guys were going to say that you're the.
- 39:23Guy, you're the you're. The one from the thing right #3
- 39:28we've got the much talked about Phillip Forsberg, the
- 39:32alliteration king of Nashville. Everybody calls.
- 39:37Him that. Last year he had .93 points per
- 39:41game, .32 power play points, 3.4 shots and 1.8 hits.
- 39:49Yeah, we didn't. Love having him for the first.
- 39:51Half of the year for two main reasons.
- 39:53One, because he sucked and two because Josh just always tried
- 39:57to Bylo. It was brutal.
- 39:59It wasn't just me, it was Kevin. Too.
- 40:01Yeah, yeah, you're on. You're.
- 40:04On that like scavengers. Vultures ready to pound?
- 40:10Yeah, exactly. About pounds, but yes, I.
- 40:13Actually think, though, it's gonna be the same story with
- 40:15him, which kind of makes me want to fade, even though I I really
- 40:19think when it's all said and done, he returns.
- 40:21This averages will be there, but if you look at it on a point per
- 40:23game, I could see it being a pain in the behind to own him
- 40:27because Nashville does suck. And I think they'll be minorly
- 40:31less bad, but not monumentally less bad.
- 40:34And if that happens, you're basically gonna get like four
- 40:38points, four games of like one point.
- 40:41And in that span maybe like an assist and like three shots a
- 40:45game. And then five games in a row he
- 40:48gets 10 points, six shots a game, four hits a game.
- 40:51Like, it's gonna be nuts, but it's like super.
- 40:55Inconsistent, like the inverse Gensel, right?
- 40:58The Gensel we were taking is like just the stable guy who
- 41:00like, yeah, doesn't do anything crazy, but you know, he does it.
- 41:03Just exactly what you need from him every week.
- 41:06It's. Like you said like he just
- 41:07doesn't show up sometimes and then just is the best player in
- 41:10the world other times also. Doesn't show that he's still
- 41:14getting your shots and hits Forsberg ranks.
- 41:16Higher on the hot crazy scale than Gensel for sure.
- 41:21Like absolutely. But yeah, you're right, Kevin,
- 41:24he does. He does have that nice back
- 41:26category floor because it's Schultz are decent.
- 41:28It's not like the games that he doesn't do much, It's not like
- 41:31it doesn't shoot or hit. He's there.
- 41:33It's just like you're drafting. This is high draft capital, like
- 41:37mid second probably. That's where I picked the mid
- 41:40delete. 2nd serves to be picked there.
- 41:42Again. And realistically, it's just
- 41:44gonna be so inconsistent. I I'm, I'm, I wanna be
- 41:49optimistic. I wanna be optimistic and feel
- 41:51like Nashville figures stuff out and they just can't be as
- 41:55inconsistent or bad as they were last year.
- 41:57Like there's too many good players on this team for it to
- 41:59completely fall apart once again.
- 42:02I am, I am, I, am I delusional? Like I, I wanna believe this.
- 42:05I wanna believe Nashville is a good team that has good players
- 42:07that maybe don't have playoff team, but they're not the third
- 42:10one team in the Sound. You sound like all of us.
- 42:13The entire year last year, we kept being like, that was the
- 42:16one. Being natural is not coming
- 42:17back, but the. Entire Jiggy and I feel like
- 42:22we're both like, they can't keep being this bad, right?
- 42:24They'll turn it around, you know, And it's like March and
- 42:27we're like, it might be a bit late to turn.
- 42:29Exactly. And yet we still wanted him on
- 42:32our fantasy team is all still tried to buy low and he was
- 42:34still like really productive. And we saw what he did in the
- 42:37second-half of the season. Like it's only Nashville was
- 42:39that much better of a team and the second-half of the season
- 42:41they were in the beginning. And yet he like his production
- 42:43was insane. So it just goes to show that you
- 42:46know, whether the quality of the team is good or bad, like he can
- 42:48still produce at an elite level. He's still one of the best power
- 42:51forwards in the league. Like nobody shoots and hits like
- 42:53him besides a few guys. So even if he's just, you don't
- 42:57want to own. That type of the guy who doesn't
- 42:59show up for three months and then, you know, turns it on for
- 43:01the next second-half. You want a guy who's gonna
- 43:04average out these averages for the entire season?
- 43:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. I I agree.
- 43:08I just feel like it's a, it can be like 3 months of zeros and
- 43:12then the rest of the season is back to like double his usual
- 43:15production, you know what I mean?
- 43:16So yeah, I think. All of us are still taking him
- 43:18if he's available at the right spot.
- 43:20Do you? Take bark off or forsberg.
- 43:28Kevin, you go first. I had both.
- 43:32So I'm, I think, curious. Where you guys are?
- 43:34At I have to go. Forsberg Yeah.
- 43:37It's the shots in the hits. It's the shots in the hits.
- 43:40Yeah, agreed. Especially because I usually
- 43:41feed face off wins so I gotta go forsberg.
- 43:45I see. Also, look, there's something to
- 43:46be said. 76 points and 82 last year and the year before was 94
- 43:50and 82. Nashville have gotten.
- 43:53Yeah, literally. Should have gotten.
- 43:55Better and they just got worse like did they get rid of anybody
- 43:58significant going into last year?
- 44:00I don't think so. They signed a.
- 44:02Bunch of free agents. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 44:04Like. They didn't get rid of anyone,
- 44:06they just added action by addition.
- 44:09Honestly. It's it's such a confusing thing
- 44:13because they were a playoff team two years ago.
- 44:15Yeah. It just doesn't make sense.
- 44:17So like, I'm kind of with Kevin here, but I I, I don't wanna be
- 44:20me last year. So I I just feel like they're
- 44:23they're a good team to fade. He's literally the only player I
- 44:25would want on my fantasy team from this.
- 44:27Now you would take. Yoshi at the right price.
- 44:29I mean, The thing is you won't get the right price, but yeah,
- 44:32yeah, yeah. Definitely.
- 44:33Listen, I mean, it's all drop Stamkos, but probably not where
- 44:38he's going. Yeah, that's.
- 44:39Fair. Would you rather have?
- 44:40Forsberg or Jack Hughes? Give me Hughes.
- 44:45I'm also. On Hughes, I guess like the.
- 44:48Difference here 30 points. The difference here?
- 44:50With this is like the Panarin 1 is that Hugh shoots more than
- 44:55Forsberg. So Force we're really the only
- 44:58bonus is the hits, whereas with the band you were getting the
- 45:01shots and the hits, Yeah. Dual eligibility with huge too.
- 45:04It makes it a big difference. Yeah, would.
- 45:07You rather have Forsberg or Evan Bouchard?
- 45:11Forsberg. OK, I think you get a similar
- 45:16amount. Of points, to be honest.
- 45:17So it's just a once coming from a defenseman, once coming from a
- 45:20forward. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:22Alright, let's get into #2. You.
- 45:30Thank you for that. Right.
- 45:33Yeah, we could. We could.
- 45:34We could do. We could play with this.
- 45:36We'll see. This is good all.
- 45:38Right #2 We've got Kirill Kaprizov, the alliteration king
- 45:43of Minnesota that can best. Krill in the league for.
- 45:49Real the thrill. Last year he put up 1.37 points
- 45:54per game .34 power play points, 3.5 shots.
- 45:59Just crazy how he just keeps getting better every single
- 46:01year. I know.
- 46:02I mean so good. Doesn't compare to Matthew
- 46:05noises. 80 points per game, but I mean, it's pretty.
- 46:07It's pretty good, but it's cute. I mean, he, he's.
- 46:11An elite guy. I think we can see, I think this
- 46:14year he could, you know, transition into being like a
- 46:17cultural tier player. Like he has it in his range of
- 46:19outcomes. We know how elite he is and it's
- 46:22a career. It's a contract year for him.
- 46:24It's a contract. Year for him, and I think
- 46:26Minnesota is poised to take a big jump this year.
- 46:28They have a lot of talent. You know the the books, right?
- 46:32Yeah. And we?
- 46:33Talked about the like contract year, like when does it matter?
- 46:35When does it not matter? But I think Caprice off it
- 46:38matters because he needs to prove that he deserves like
- 46:41McDavid McKinnon money, yes. And so if he has a season like
- 46:45that, he's gonna get paid like those guys.
- 46:47And he he definitely has the skill to do it.
- 46:50I think he's gonna hurt last year.
- 46:51He did get here last year. Really.
- 46:53Really. Like 41 games he played only 56.
- 46:55I mean, he would have gone 112 points with that pace, which
- 46:59first of all, quick maps, second of all, so second of all, he is
- 47:04such an amazing player. And I completely agree, Kevin, I
- 47:09think he ends up in that cultural conversation going into
- 47:11next year. So where are you?
- 47:13Guys taking him in the draft, OK, we've got the obvious top 4,
- 47:17right? And then that's cool.
- 47:20Are those? Really quickly for the
- 47:21listeners, just like it should be obvious, but just in case,
- 47:23so. Cannon, McDavid, Tricycle,
- 47:25Kucherov as the top 4 right? Then let's say your pick, you
- 47:30know, 567, whatever that cluster is kind of like Pasta Matthews,
- 47:35Brady could Chuck and then, you know, it's crazy off part of
- 47:39that cluster. Can you take him over any of
- 47:41those three guys? Yes.
- 47:43I think I would think Pasta ahead of him just because we
- 47:45know what we're getting with Pasta.
- 47:46He's like one of the most consistent players at delivering
- 47:48what you expect from him. But then after Pasta, I think I
- 47:52think Resolve is a top seven pick.
- 47:54Like maybe you go Macar cuz you want the defensive.
- 47:57The defensive tactic capris off over Matthews.
- 48:01Wow. I wouldn't, but the fact that
- 48:04it's a debate is something you take a preserve.
- 48:06Over Brady. It depends if you're in, if
- 48:09you're in a bangers league. If you're in a bangers league I
- 48:14feel you have to take Brady over over a Kaprizov.
- 48:18But in non bangers leagues obviously it's Kaprizov.
- 48:20OK, that puts. Around France, Matthews.
- 48:23And Kaprizov, yes, around overall, I take JT.
- 48:26Over Kaprizov. So to me he's 9.
- 48:30Wow. OK, which I'm.
- 48:31Very happy with considering the better second round pick that I
- 48:35could get. I'd rather like him at 9:00 then
- 48:37pass that 6 as an example. I'm convinced of JT's successes.
- 48:40You're at a high level, but I don't know if I have the balls
- 48:43to take him over. I'm taking.
- 48:45Capris over JT but like, I don't know, I just think that like
- 48:49Kevin said, Kaprizov can have like a controv season like
- 48:53that's that's not crazy to think The thing is.
- 48:56You you can pair Kaprizov at, let's say, I don't know, 8 right
- 49:03with Kyle Connor or like in round two.
- 49:08But if he had JT and Kyle Connor, I'm happier with that
- 49:11one too, cuz there's something about the fact that could
- 49:14resolve is just more one-dimensional.
- 49:15He's yeah, I mean, I guess we're.
- 49:17Talking roster construction but I mean like shoots a ton.
- 49:20Like honestly I think Kaprizov pasta is a discussion cuz
- 49:24normally I would go past for sure but Boston sucks I know
- 49:27but. Minnesota getting better.
- 49:29I would bet my house on pasta shooting more.
- 49:33That's a. That's what I mean.
- 49:35Let's say Pastas four shots on goal per game and Kaprizov has
- 49:373.5 like he did last season. Well let's say Caprice off gets
- 49:40like 20 more points. Hmm.
- 49:44So, yeah, I, I don't think if you're giving me 20 more points,
- 49:47give me Kaprizov. But to me, I don't think it'll
- 49:50be 20 more points. But listen, that's it's in this
- 49:52range of outcomes like I think there's.
- 49:54Something to think about I would you have hit 112?
- 49:57Last year. And that's if we didn't expect
- 50:01his piece to get even better. And, you know, the averages are
- 50:04also influenced by the games he was hurt and like, the games he
- 50:06just came back from and whatever.
- 50:08Yeah, that's what. I'm saying so that's I think
- 50:09he's gonna have a month or year. I also.
- 50:12Agree, he's gonna have a monster year and I don't think.
- 50:14Austin's gonna suck, Boston. Is going to suck, but does have
- 50:18the best playoff schedule. So yes, that is a big one.
- 50:22That's just. It's.
- 50:24Honestly, the thing that I want the decision to be made for me,
- 50:27I'll take whoever falls and I'll be happy about.
- 50:29Yeah. That's why it's just further.
- 50:31Record for our listeners because they're coming here for advice.
- 50:35Let's three of us say who, which one we would take.
- 50:38Capital Pasta. Pasta, Pasta, I'm gonna say I.
- 50:43Have to I have to double check Minnesota's playoff schedule.
- 50:47I don't know if any of you have it on hand this quickly.
- 50:51Wait one second. I have it right here.
- 50:54OK. Minnesota, OK.
- 50:57They actually don't have a very good playoff schedule.
- 50:59So it's just 333. No.
- 51:01There are three three. Three versus past US 444.
- 51:03So give me pasta. But for me, that's the big.
- 51:06I actually think Kaprizov is gonna have a better regular
- 51:08season, but the playoff schedule like one extra game each week is
- 51:12just is just a big bonus I. I think for me, honestly, it's a
- 51:18discussion. I just spoke myself into this,
- 51:20but Kaprizov and Matthews, I think that's honestly a bigger
- 51:24question than I thought before this conversation right now.
- 51:27So you think? So after the forego you would
- 51:29take Pasternak, then Brady, and then math user Kaprizov I think.
- 51:35That's what it is for me right now, Dang.
- 51:38I'm. Looking at that kind of thing as
- 51:40well. I mean honestly, Brady could be
- 51:42above pasta depending on how you wanna build your team.
- 51:44Can I just? Say #1 yes, we may as well just
- 51:48keep going number. One, we've got Brady Kuchuk,
- 51:52Exactly. King of Ottawa.
- 51:56He hates the. Literation, but he loves making
- 51:58your fantasy team amazing. So last year we could just
- 52:02continue. Where we left off.
- 52:03Last year stats quickly .76 points .32 power play points 1.7
- 52:08Pimms, 4.1 shots, 3.2 hits. That's crazy.
- 52:13He breaks his. Leagues almost.
- 52:15Half the points of Kaprizov, of these other guys, and it's still
- 52:22he's #1 and I think we're all easily like, fun fact, I was.
- 52:26As I was like building like working on these top 10s for
- 52:30fun, I was testing Eva. I was like, do you think you can
- 52:33guess? Like, you know, like the top and
- 52:35left wings were pudding. And it was his wife, by the way.
- 52:38Yeah. And as a hint, I told her for #1
- 52:41left wing. He's the only guy in the list
- 52:43who's not a point per game or higher.
- 52:45And immediately she's, like, ready.
- 52:46Kuchuk. Yeah.
- 52:47Wow. That just that.
- 52:48Just like he's known for. His backpacks are so strong.
- 52:52Yeah. She actually listens when I talk
- 52:54about fantasy, which is pretty nuts.
- 52:56Remember stuff, too. It's crazy.
- 52:59Talk about all the time that is also.
- 53:01Fair. But we have a young baby, you
- 53:04know, she could be focused on other stuff, but she still
- 53:05remembers. But, uh, But yeah, like, he is
- 53:09the one guy who, like, is less than a point per game.
- 53:11Yeah. You're putting him above all
- 53:13these massive point guys on this list, and no one bats an eye.
- 53:16Everyone's like, yes, that's how insane his other categories are.
- 53:19Yeah, you know. What like the only thing that I
- 53:23see for regression for Brady is points positive regression?
- 53:26That's exactly. Fully agree.
- 53:28Yeah, it's incredible. Like last year was an off year
- 53:31for him. Like the year before 74, the
- 53:33year before 83. Imagine he gets 90 points.
- 53:35If he gets 90 points, he deserves to probably be. 4th
- 53:40over Kooch. I would say honestly there's.
- 53:44A lot of people who will argue that regardless, like of 90
- 53:48points, like they will say he belongs in that top four there.
- 53:51And if they're playing in a specific league, the same one
- 53:54that we are in, which is a Bangers Cats league that
- 53:56includes Pimms, a lot of people are of the opinion that he
- 53:59belongs at #4 if not even breaking that top three and
- 54:03being above Dry Sydal. That's how highly people think
- 54:05of Rainy. Give us everything.
- 54:06Face offs too, like yeah. He's.
- 54:09So, so good. And that's why to me, like I
- 54:12think this is a tier break between him and Kaprizov, even
- 54:14though, like you guys are making lot of compelling arguments, but
- 54:18I still think he's he's the number one left wing I.
- 54:22Completely agree, I've never had Brady on one of my teams but
- 54:25I've played against him a bunch of times and it's like the worst
- 54:28thing ever. Worst.
- 54:30It's the worst. Like he'll play one game and he
- 54:32can get you 7 shots, six hits and 25 Pimms and you're like
- 54:38what the hell just happened? It just makes it not.
- 54:40Fun, yeah. Honestly also have.
- 54:44Him which case you're on. This is, this is what I that's
- 54:48where I want to end up in the draft.
- 54:49I wanna be like, you know where to get.
- 54:51Brady at the lowest point possible, Yes, exactly.
- 54:53Yeah, his. Playoffs could be like 6344.
- 54:56I know get. Looking at that Brady for.
- 54:59Four games in the semis, and that's literally.
- 55:01Guaranteed like 3 categories right there.
- 55:03Like you're winning, pimp shots and hits.
- 55:05Yeah, that's it, you know? Like, obviously you know exactly
- 55:08what you're doing. Matters.
- 55:09I think over. Matthews yeah, for sure.
- 55:12I. Would take him over Matthews as
- 55:13well I think. I'm talking myself.
- 55:16Into taking him like over past that this no.
- 55:19More we talk about the hope we get and I think every year it
- 55:22gets more exciting to draft Brady because the Ottawa
- 55:25Senators get better every year. So yes, OK.
- 55:28His points foundation like floor is scaling with the team and so
- 55:33his ceiling also gets higher and wouldn't be surprised if he has
- 55:36his best point season yet this year.
- 55:38No, I wouldn't be surprised honestly, probably expected.
- 55:40So Jake Sanderson. 'S gonna take a huge step up and
- 55:43so is Dylan Cousins. That top step is going to be
- 55:46amazing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:47It's just it's it's a recipe for success and then some.
- 55:51I mean, he's not he's not as skilled as Matthew, but there is
- 55:56something to be said for the fact that, like Matthew, no one
- 55:59bats an eye and saying he's gonna get 100 points.
- 56:00And maybe Brady could do that. Like, he's always in the right
- 56:03place at the right time. He is the centerpiece of this
- 56:05team. Fans love him.
- 56:07Like he's talismanic. I'd say word.
- 56:11Honestly, I don't know if. That's ever been used before.
- 56:14Talismanic to Chuck. That's a That's a ton.
- 56:17Yeah, that's a tongue twister. Fine.
- 56:18Chuck by itself is hard enough. Honestly, after this podcast
- 56:24I've literally talked myself into dropping Matthew
- 56:27significantly in my rankings and I'm talking myself.
- 56:30Into Chuck at five. Yeah, between ketchup and.
- 56:33Pasta honestly could be really close.
- 56:35I think for me right now, I guess we'll end on this, but
- 56:37like my rankings right now is like McKinnon, McDavid,
- 56:40Draisaitl, Kucherov between pasta and Brady.
- 56:45Like probably still pasta by smidge, but I just I just maybe
- 56:50I just really want Brady on my team and then probably Kaprizov
- 56:53and Matthews after I'd be so. Happy with four just because no
- 56:57one's gonna know if I'm gonna take couture or ready to Chuck.
- 57:00I mean, whatever that. File is gonna be blessed. 5 is
- 57:04where I I wanted because yeah, but an argument.
- 57:07Just being like Jimmy 9 or and I'll think the last guy of that
- 57:11bunch, yeah. Yeah.
- 57:13Should we Should we wrap it up? 12/13/14.
- 57:18Sad about that? Yeah.
- 57:20Yeah, that's. OK, we could just watch other
- 57:21people have fun, which is OK guys, this was great.
- 57:26The left wings super spicy, especially around the top.
- 57:29Honestly, from Panera and onwards, it was a real, real
- 57:33heavy discussion. A lot of value there.
