Unit C50: Graham Coutts and the Murder of Jane Longhurst
In March 2003, Brighton special needs teacher Jane Longhurst rang her best friend's flat in Hove, and her friend's boyfriend, Graham Coutts, answered. She was never seen alive again: Coutts strangled her, then hid her body for five weeks, much of it in a self-storage unit rented under a false name, before burning it on Wiggonholt Common. Convicted in 2004, freed from that verdict by the Law Lords in 2006, he was found guilty again at the Old Bailey in 2007, and his case led to a new law on extreme pornography.
