- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: who welcome everybody to another episode of the triple coverage podcast.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: I am Lance Nelson to my right Benjamin Schupe.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Week one in the NFL as a bonus.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited for this game.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: The last first game at the old high marks stadium.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the first lasts of the whole season.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Substitute.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing much football is officially officially back tonight.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be hopefully a decent game tonight, but excited to have fans.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Football's starting up.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: kind of finish off the weekend.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it's going to be a good, good week.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: You can good weekend for just sitting relaxing watching some football.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: So excited to go.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think the the players got to be chomping at the bit about now and really ramp up towards.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: getting stoked for this one.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: First off, we'll just go through real quick thoughts on the injury report.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: You had Tyler Bass Limited yesterday.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Did not practice today with a left hip groin.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Something's been kind of lingering on for a while now.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Full practice for Christian Benford after a limited yesterday.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wayne Carter finally to the IR with his Achilles.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Keon Coleman limited just popping up this week with a groin.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't know that before yesterday.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: Elijah Morgan, it's a personal day today.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: He'll shoot yours been full all week.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: And Tradevius White, second day in a row, not practicing.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: So quick thoughts on that bend is wherever you want to take it for the Bill's injury report.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Just good news, I guess, with Christian Benford, you know, fully being able to practice.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then being able to look like, you know, he's going to be good to go.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Trey White obviously still somebody you're gonna be looking at to see hey, is he gonna be going this week and then Tyler Bass is another interesting Wonders because you know They designed Matt prior to the practice squad.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: Is he gonna be somebody that's called up obviously has plenty of experience in the NFL When it comes to kicking so Yeah, definitely interested to see you know some people were wishing Ray Davis would be would be the kicker this weekend I for one
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: very happy that he is not the option this weekend.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he could do great within 20, 30 yards, but once it gets to a little deeper, get a little bit interesting.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, those are the three that kind of stood out to me.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you know, Coleman will see, we'll see how it's lingering with him if it ends up being something that does sit him out this week, but having it be something
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not a big fan of obviously seeing trade weight not practicing both days and really not having much information, but it is what it is.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, some of the press conferences may have hinted at a potential that doorion strong starts, but we don't know that for sure, something that we could.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: potentially take from what was said, but yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens at quarterback this week.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think the lucky part is that the Ravens passing attack isn't necessarily the best in the league, but I think it's not anything that's news at either.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think they definitely have guys and they have a quarterback that can get the job done at any time.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: Luckily, I think for Buffalo, he hasn't really done that in the past, but I, you know, everyone's
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: do at some point and able to do that, like in that Shikir's full and just a little bit on Coleman, not really sure exactly where that came from.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: There wasn't any inkling that he was hurt before this week as far as I knew.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we'll go from there.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what the game status is our tomorrow.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I have a better idea of how serious this is.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: If Tyler Bass maybe was just sore today from his limited participation yesterday, or if it's sort of load management, or if it really is something to be concerning, that'll all be told.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: The story will be told tomorrow, so to speak, once we get to the practice and the game status.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nothing really more on injuries.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think that's pretty straight.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Prater.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thanks, John.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Prater.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: sign to the practice squad in case Bass can't go so doesn't really change a lot for me as far as like who the kicker is this week I don't think I'm really expecting the game to hinge on a field goal but it is going to be a tight game so you know extra points anything like that that are missed but I think that they should be able to get themselves in some positions that allow the kicker to do their job and if it hinges on a 55-yard field goal and Matt Prater has to kick it and he can't make it
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so be it.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I mean, prior has been on the week for a long time too.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like you're getting an unknown kicker on the practice squad there.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: So definitely going to be interesting to see how he is.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it's his 19th season in the NFL.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: So definitely a season vet at this point, but either way, hopefully it doesn't come down to his leg and if it does, it'd be kind of a cool story if he does end up kicking it, making it,
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: see industry action for for him.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, we'll see obviously with Bass.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's something that we've been following along.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously throughout the the whole preseason training camp.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: What's been going on with him?
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I guess we'll just have to wait and see at this point for him because there hasn't been too much information about how serious it is Just that he does it is in fact dealing with something so we'll see as it goes from there, but Always good to have a guy that has been in big situations before has been in big time games made big time kicks before Available if you need them So yeah, always good to have that
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: For sure, we're going to do a couple things here where we're going to predict a couple of the things that are going to happen this year in the AC east and then the AC as well and going to.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: a little bit of a fantasy segment after that and then kind of go into our normal sort of offense and defensive segments and then we'll get out of here and we'll go watch some NFL football because week one is upon us here in just a few hours or just an hour or so now so ready for kickoff ready to have some real games start and and to be played bend you want to just say a little bit about how excited you might be for the start of the season we do have a real football game tonight and you know how do you feel about that.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I had mentioned how I hope it's a good game.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that it can definitely be a high scoring game for anybody that's, you know, taken the over or anybody that's got fantasy players tonight.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's going to be, I think, a high scoring game.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's because of the Eagles defenses that I do like the Cowboys pass in game, and they do like throw the ball.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: They have one of the best receiver in the game.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: They just got George Pickins.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I believe Jake Ferguson still averaged for Titan.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: running game will obviously see what goes on there, but you know, Dax finally healthy and we'll see how that goes and the Eagles we're going to be looking to to to start out hot after the the championship and we'll see how it goes, but yeah, it's just exciting to have it back and others also gave tomorrow, which is
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Is this the first year they're doing this with a Friday on the first game of the year I believe so I'm not aware of it happening before but I could be mistaken but I believe that yeah, it's a new I think it's what is it and Brazil or something like that so yeah it's Kansas City and I'm going to be going to play and but yeah it's it's just nice to have it back finally like you know you've been waiting for those months in the past few weeks it's been
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: It gets through a point, you know, once you're past training camp and you're into the preseason, you know, for me personally, I'm like, I don't, you know, once you come up to get to that second third preseason game, you're like, okay, like, let's get to the right of the season here, but excited, man, excited to see who what highlight catches we see, who surprises us, who disappoints us, just kind of who breaks out, and who, you know, who shocks everybody.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: So it's always fun, you know, there's always predictions
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: There are wrong because you can't predict the NFL.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's any given Sunday.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: And all I know is I just hope for the least amount of major injuries and injuries throughout this year.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect you to start players just because, you know, the start players make the league better.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, besides the football game tonight, Jess Pagula faces Arena Satellinca in the semi-finals of the US Open, so a big matchup for Jess Pagula.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we'll be rooting for her there.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: I got her plus 3.5 games on BEDMGM tonight, so.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then also,
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Dallas got her to score anytime touchdown out there for those of you who'd like that it's like plus 300 in most places go out there if you want if you want to tell that hey I'm not responsible for losing money, but I'll give you my predictions at least those are the two things I like today.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: Pagula plus three and a half games and got her anytime touchdown for the Eagles.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: So move it on to the AFC predictions.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: AFC East standing predictions.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: the teams are going to play out here in the AFCs, where will they rank?
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so for me, I've been saying this pretty much since the draft and the offseason, and it really hasn't changed for me, you know, the last two spots I've gone back and towards on to what for the AFCs, I'm having the bills win.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just would be shocked if a team takes over just because of, you know, I know the Patriots have very good offseason,
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: could potentially have a high-flying offense, but just with the stability in this locker room, the players you're bringing back, obviously, you have you have Josh Allen.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be hard for any of these teams to upset the bills in this division.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: If there was a team to do it, it's my second place team.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: I do have the Patriots coming in second in the AFCs.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just really like what they've done this offseason.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: As much as I hate to say it, you get variable.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Load up on defense.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think their defense is going to be phenomenal.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Drake may is going into a second season.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: The offensive line is still a work and progress, but better than what it was.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: You have digs there who again, as much as I used to say, I think clever, a good season.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it'll be the number one there.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: And they have a lot of weapons that I think you could, could shock some people.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Pop, Pop Galgless is there.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: I've always been a fan of his.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: And Kyah Williams is also there as well.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think that they, and they brought in 3,100s as well, and we're on the running backspot.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I just really like overall what they've done.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: So they're going to be my second team.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: My third team now, this is the one that my sharks and people, I have the jets, I do, I think the jets, I mean, I don't think they'll be good by any means, but I do think it's just a change and I do.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Justin Fields fan.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the greatest quarterback in the world, but I don't think he's as bad as other people's, I think, you know, he did pretty well last year with Pittsburgh.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that he can lead them to some wins.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: The last thing that I have in the division is the Miami Dolphins.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's gonna be a mess of a season for them.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that you already kind of seen the dysfunction with them with some of the interviews of two of us, and all, well, we're still gotta get back on the same page.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, this has been the same offense for a few years now.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the same weapons, and it's just dysfunctional.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: You have Tyre Kill, kind of what his offseason was.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Mike McDaniels has any hold on that locker room.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think that defense, I mean, if you look at their secondary, it is brutal.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know that original Doug was just sign there if I'm not mistaken.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: And he's, I believe far in a way, their best secondary or the best player in the secondary.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: I have the dolphins coming in last in this division.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be a clean house here for them.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to be gone.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think Rick Daniels could be gone.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: And it's good if a co-op maybe coordinator Mike Rick Daniels is offensively.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's fit to lead a team successfully to deepen the playoffs for as a head coach.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be mine bills, pets, jet dolphins.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be jet dolphins fighting for that last spot, but the dolphins, I think, are going to have a very tough year.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they're fans as much as they, you know, even if they do admit it, I think some of them might even want it just so they can start over because it's, you can't keep running back the same thing and expecting different results.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, dolphins, I have come in and last.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've got the bills at the top of the division.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I think that's no surprise.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Patriots finishing second as well.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: I do like Drake may as well.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: They have my favorite running back from the last draft class and Traveon Henderson as well.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: So like what they're doing there, I like the new coaching hire.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they're going to be competitive.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think the dolphins finish third.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think they have enough offense to score in this league enough to
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: beat out the jets, the jets, and look at, I'm factoring in, Elijah Vera Tucker getting hurt just a day or so ago, and I think that that might matter more than people might think, so for that reason, I'm putting the jets in last in the AFC East.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: With the AFC Playoff team predictions, I'm going to go first since you just went, then if you don't mind, I'm going to go with the bills, the chiefs, the ravens, the Texans, the Bengals, the Broncos, and the Steelers to all make the playoffs, and once you're done giving your teams, I'll go into why I think our difference is what it is.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I had the same four division winners that you had Bill's Ravens Chiefs Texans.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: I did almost pick the drags in this AFC South.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's just the AFC South's the mass.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Texans, they don't have an offensive line.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be a question about how they can hold up protection-wise.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the drags had a pretty good off season.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: Then I have the Patriots.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm as much as I hate to say it.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I've been saying it for weeks and weeks,
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: I really think they're going to be a good football team.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're going to be the five seed.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just haven't listed here next.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: But I do like the Patriots make the playoffs this year.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: Rable phenomenal coach.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can lead them there.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: I have the Bengals.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: I know their defense is rough.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: I just, you know, you have Joe Burr.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: You have Jamar Chase.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: You have Chase Brown.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: Tea Higgins.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: Mike the seconds coming back.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: Noah Font still there.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, their offense is going to be one of the best in the league.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that can get them into the playoffs in the FC.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: The last thing I have is the Broncos last year, obviously did make the playoffs really struggled against teams over 500 and playoff teams and good starting quarterbacks, but they still have a very, very good defense, but next corner of the second year, Sean Paton still there.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: I almost did put the Steelers in there just because they always find a way to somehow be in the hunt.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: I thought about the chargers as well.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that that injury to Rochon Slater is really going to mess them up.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they already have a pretty brutal defense.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: And now you lose your starting left tackle to block for Justin Herbert.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I just left the chargers out.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I bangles Broncos Patriots as the wild cartoons to Texans chiefs Ravens bills as the division winners.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wanted to pick the chargers as well.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't there.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of went the more things change the more things stay the same and the Steelers just keep that Media awkwardie going and just sneak into the last wild card spot.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's really sort of what I'm thinking there, but the Patriots could do it.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: It certainly could happen.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: I just Just one of those things that Steelers just always seem to sneak in and I think that seven wild card spots kind of up for grabs a really thing at times.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, I don't know, man, I just, first year things got a gel.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: Something's going to happen that's going to be weird that, you know, they're not going to expect it might be a little bit tougher than we expected.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: It might still be good for a second in the division, but not quite the 7th C, 7th C in the FC.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, I do like what they're doing there, like we talked about when we put them second in the division.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that it's not going to be that difficult to finish second in the division here, given the state of the jets and patriots.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, that's where I'm, uh,
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I'm at with them.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: That was part of the reason I put it in the playoffs is I think the visions are a lot.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like the chargers, they have a tough division.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I think it's going to be tough for them to kind of squeak in here.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: Same with the Steelers, that's kind of why I put the pads there.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: I will say a sleeper team.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you have a sleeper team.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: A sleeper team that I would not be shocked if they somehow make a run to the playoffs and squeak in is the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they get genty.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: They still have,
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Should hobby lawyers they bring in genos meant they bring in Pete Carroll still max trial be on the other side like it it's a team that If they can squeak out some games, I wouldn't be super shocked now.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they will but that's a team.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to throw out there as well That I think could potentially make a run and then I guess I guess any of the AFC South could make it because the AFC South might be the worst division in football.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, right
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: it's been cheaper would be the cold so I think you know they have enough with Jonathan Taylor leading their offense that they could find a find a formula that works for them and be better than we think on defense.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: Quitty pay obviously to force buckler there.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: You have Zyer Franklin in the middle so chart various word now at that corner with them and I just think they they probably have enough there to where they could they could push there and I could see them making it over
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: Well, AFC South, I could realistically see any of these teams winning that division.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: And you get the Titans included.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just that type of division where if, if Cam Ward comes out and plays well, and doesn't turn the ball over, it doesn't have to be, you know, Jane Daniels from last year.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: But if you can be a solid quarterback this year, that takes care of the football, I think they, like, the AFC South is just so wide open.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's really the one division that, you know, if you're up and coming team, that's the division you'd love to be in.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of every team that you look at in the FC South has a significant weakness or something that you know that they have struggled with in the past or big question marks.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really, it's really going to be a dogfight again for who wins that division, because I believe the text in the last year didn't win it by too many games.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, like I said, it's wide open.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: So AFC for that fight for the seven seed is really, really, kind of be wide open.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be something to watch out for.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Before we move into this next question, unless you have anything else I did want to bring this question up just because.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because they brought somebody up.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: So buying is going to be Sam Franklin Jr.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just shocked that the get the 53rd player that they're going to choose is a special team or I know they love special teams and special teams is a huge part of the game I know I saw some people on Twitter complaining all the team cares too much about special teams I think that every team should care about special teams maybe as much as the bills to because it can win and lose your games go ask the I believe 2000 and
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: nine chargers if i'm not mistaken who was first in both defense and offence in this playoffs because there's special teams lost them at any games um but yeah that would be my guess my my major surprise there uh i don't know i don't know who did you say lands last week i don't remember i'll see um brand encountered him i just thought he wasn't i mean i know that it's not a surprise to a lot of people it's a just kind of thinging outside the box here
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's a player that it's a one role on the team, you know, maybe kick-and-punt return if you want, but no coverage, and maybe they'll change that.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they'll put them on a coverage unit, I'll have to see on Sunday, but just, you know, using a spot there, instead of another, you know, I thought they'd go six linebackers.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't, so they, you know, that's, or if they wanted more secondary health, I thought they could go there and contraband him does, I guess,
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: stay listed as a corner back so he's there but you know I know they like them I know that returns are important I know that the NFL's trying to get the return game as part of it but you know I almost would have liked to see if you're going to just have a return or I would have almost like to see KJ Hamler get the shot at it you know because at least he could run around on offense he could do something other than just pure return
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and he didn't.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I did a good conversation with him actually on Saturday at D. I'm Doc and Scar Show.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: So if you haven't seen that go out to our social media is there and check out the interview I had with him.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: And check out hard knocks because Lance's voice is is in hard knocks asking a David not not David Edwards kind of a governor of a question there.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, yeah, a lot of some of you guys heard that at all when he did, um,
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: I do also want to speak with whoever is running ESPN.com because their depth chart for the build has track Thompson over Matmalano on the depth chart.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: So that's news.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I think all bills might be on a wouldopy starting, but just something that I'd notice there.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I know we talked a little bit about fantasy of a poem in how it's back.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's one thing that we're going to get into next year is just for this game.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to also just give another player that I like in general as like a major sleeper for anybody that if they're looking they have a one extra bench spot.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's worth a risk taken and there's sitting under bench for a week or two.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: But who to start in fantasy?
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Who to avoid in fantasy?
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to stick with just the bills and Raven's game for this specifically.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going to go James Cook.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think they just paid him and I think his role may take another step forward this year.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to see and we'll talk more about that in our next segment on offense here, but he had three catches.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: last time for not many yards 15 yards, but he had 17 carries for 67 yards, didn't get in the end zone at all, but I think they were feeding him and he was able to help that offense gain traction when needed and it wasn't necessarily a super high scoring game, 27-25, but they kind
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, next guy sort of sort of thing, I'm going to give two here is just Khalil, they've absolutely felt fed.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Khalil, she here last time.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I think you have to think about volume there.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Khalil, she here is going to get some volume for you this week in fantasy.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have him in a flex spot, that'd be a good.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to go with Dalton Kincade.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: I just think in last matchup, last year, he had seven seven targets, five receptions in the regular season.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: And the
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: play offs he only had two targets so that did obviously go down but he was you know obviously dealing dealing with injury as well.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: I just think you know I've been saying it all off season he had 90 I believe mid 90 targets in his work year last year he had about 73 if I'm not in a stake in an injury riddled season so the targets will be there in the season.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: And Josh Allen missed him a lot.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: And we've been here in it, concave that connection has been looking pretty good throughout camp, looking pretty good and during practice.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I think concave could be a very good start.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: I ended up scooping up another league as my tight end.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think he's gonna be a guy that we'll be able to get the job done for you if you're not looking to take a tight end.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: Earlier, if you're right now looking at your team and you're like, oh, I just need to make a move for a tight end.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think Dolm concave could be that guy
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: might not have to spend a lot to get them or training for them or anything, so I do like Dalton UK, especially this week, because I think the bills will be looking to get the ball out and just get it to their, get it to their tight end there and get Canadian ball to early.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: For a void though, I don't know, first on this one, because it's kind of a little bit of a funny one there, because Lance picked James Cook to start, I'm going to go with James Cook to avoid this week.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to be great in fantasy of the entire season.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think it'll be a great option.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a close game.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Ravens defenses are very good defense.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they could hone in on that and say, we're not going to be able to stop Josh Allen really in general.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to stop him.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: Let's at least stop the number two option that you just got paid in the backfield there.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: James Cook and you know, you still have Ty Johnson, you still have Ray Davis.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see obviously how the contract affects his snap percentage and how much his usage is.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to go with James Cook
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I would not be shocked if he has a good week, but I, you know, me, who's still probably for, I guess, fantasy purposes be good.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think he'll be maybe what people are expecting for week one and what the rest of the season, what he can average throughout the rest of the season.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so I'm going to say if you're in between James Cook and another player for your for your last flex spot, um, I would potentially depending on the player go, go elsewhere inside of James Cook.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: I also took James Cook at the end of the second round because all the running backs I want to chase brown and and those sort of guys were gone and maybe should have went tree down Henderson said I'm going to argue that for sure, but I was very quick because I wanted the bills player there where I thought I could get them and
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: That was, you know, I'm riding him so a week one and start early and go off to here.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully we we get that right out of the gate.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to avoid the bill's defense and special teams.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying they're going to have the week they had last season, the regular season, where, you know, they got blown out.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: But I just think they are down a couple of guys in the secondary here.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: Guys are maybe not 100%.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: quite yet, and I just think that this one could be a little higher scoring than you'd like if you have a defense in special teams unit, so I'm going to avoid the bill's defense in special teams in fantasy.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this game.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going to be, I think, even both defense that I said the Ravens defense is very good.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: Unless they get turnovers, it could again be another even rough week for the Ravens defense as well.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you know, in fantasy terms, one pick six can change everything.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: So one, two big turnovers can change a lot.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: But when it comes to the Ravens, it's going to be hard to get after Josh Allen for sex.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be, you know, he's obviously one of the least sect quarterback last year.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess Raven's defense is another one that I think will be another great one throughout the season.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: But it could be rough.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's week one player to start getting into it.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: But I do also want to just throw out their one name for anybody that likes if you're looking for a bench spot, you talked about running bags.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you get to the second round, running bags fly off the board and fantasy.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: They're hard to find.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's something that everybody's looking on their bench is what, but what running back can potentially become a sleeper.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: And my guy, I believe just owned in like two percent of leagues.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: I have him in almost every league that I have.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Monaguy, he is Chicago Bears rookie draft in the seventh round.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: My reasoning, Ben Johnson, former often coordinator of the Lions, is now in Chicago.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: We know how much they love that two-headed monster of Montgomery and Gibbs.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: They have swift, but swift isn't really a big back.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's actually five nine.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's more of a, you know, elusive, not really running back.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's a swift running back for some would say.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but, you know, they have Rochon Johnson there, who who's now coming back, Rochon last year was all right.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: But from what I've seen in the preseason, Montaguy is a back that does not shy away from contact.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of like David Montgomery, a guy that runs hard.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: And from all of the press conferences that any of the bear dolphins coordinator Ben Johnson, any of them have talked about, he's been getting a lot of praise.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's not really been much said about Rochon Johnson.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're really looking for one, I think he could end up being the next like David Montgomery type of back where maybe he just gets touchdowns, not a lot of yards, but maybe he ends up getting 15 times a game because that's how they were in Detroit where they like to do the two running backs there.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Monaguy, if you need a spot, go get them, take the shot and, you know, potentially it could be a leak winner, it could be just sooner guy that, hey, if you need them for a week, it could be a salad start, so that's my number one fantasy sleeper this year.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: right on.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: Nice, nice bit there.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't done so yet, please like and share this episode on Facebook, like and share on YouTube, like it and share it and on X repost it and like it there.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Go over to the YouTube channel and subscribe to the YouTube channel for built in Buffalo if you could and get in on the comments here with other bills fans.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: You got Uncle Bud in the comments, so always good to talk to him there and others.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: There's a decent chat on Facebook too.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: So if you prefer Facebook over there, check that out and you know, get in the chat with John and Sandra and all those folks who are usually with us here, William's there now this week.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: So appreciate that.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: We are sponsored by Monster Energy, the official energy partner of Bilton Buffalo and 7-1 Slicks Barbershop in landcaster slash to Pew area on Broadway, go over and check out the cut app or
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: the links on 716 page to book a cut with Dennis and Matt over there at 716.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: Good guys, they just did a nice thing for back to school.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: They cut kids for free to get them ready for back to school.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was a really nice thing.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: I shared that on our page too.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: If you check out built in Buffalo, Facebook page there, you'll see that.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Let's roll into the week though, week one, we have, you know, the bill we're going to start with the bills offense, Ben, if you want to go through this and let us know what you think about your top storyline for the bills offense here.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, last year obviously the storyline was what is this offense going to look like without Stefan digs with what is it going to look like with all these different weapons and everything so I do think you know when it comes to everybody eats that will stay similar but the one guy that I'm looking for in that passing game.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: is Dalton Conquade.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned him as a start this week, but you've heard the hype is can he step up?
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: Can he become a tight end in the league that you say, man, that you know, it was worth a late first Trump pick.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was obviously hyped up coming out of college and he's his rookie year had a very solid rookie year for a rookie tight end.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, like I said, very enjoy your injury riddled.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a tough matchup.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's Raven's probably going to move guys around on them.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you might see a little Kyle Hamilton.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_00]: You might see a few of their linebackers coming up on him too.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be tough matchup for him.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: Can he step up?
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: Can he become a reliable target for Josh Allen?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think he definitely can.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: If Josh Allen can hit him a little bit more than he did last year.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: But don't concede, will he be able to step up?
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think?
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm rooting for this guy, obviously, as a bill saying, you're going to root for them all.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I just think King Cade in general is someone who maybe had really lofty goals or lofty expectations from some coming out of the draft being drafted in the first round and as a pass catcher, not necessarily tight in, but this matchup nightmare, so to speak, for defenses and
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't really seen him necessarily take over games that much, so, you know, didn't have too many big games last year that really stood out to us.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that we expected him to lead the team in targets last year and it just didn't happen.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now, injuries played a part in that too, but I hope that he can get towards the
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, at least second place on in targets this year, I think Leo Schkeer should be far and away the team leader in targets, but we'll see if how close can Kade can get to that, and if Kade can be a 750 to 800 yard receiver here for this offense.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: It would be nice I think that the offense will again approach breaking records if he can achieve that level if they have that weapon at tight end and then they have maybe I'm expecting secure and concave to both be pretty good if not very good for this offense and then.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we'll see what they do in the back field.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about next, but don't can kid.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: I expect, you know, a bigger year out of him that year or three leap that everyone talks about out of a tight end.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: I certainly would, would project that and starts now and starts week one, how much can, can he prove right out of the gate?
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I don't believe he has started in the season with any injuries as far as we're concerned.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: He's been healthy.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: And you mentioned the targets when it comes to he could come close to the secure.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think I really think there is a realistic chance that he does end this team as the number one targeted weapon.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 34:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's, you know, Shakira is there.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: But the receivers, they like to kind of do a lot of different things with.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: If they end up using concaid like they have been the past few years when he's healthy, I think there's a good possibility target wise, maybe not reception, because you know collusion care even if you get 10 less targets could easily finish 10 more receptions just because he catches everything.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: But I think King Kade realistically, I see could end up as the number one targeted guy.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should end up as the number two, unless Kian Coleman shows out or Drash Palmer shows out, but I think he should end up as the number two at the minimum.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think Palmer would be challenging him for that, and I'm expecting some good things out of Palmer as well.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: what we kind of talked about in the fantasy segment, but I want to elaborate a little bit, is the uses of James Cook because we have a guy who's paid now, there was a big drama in the office and coming in, what is their plan?
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: If they're going to sign them to that deal, you got to think that the usage is going to change a little bit.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think the bills changed the usage?
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: It was 47% of SNAPs last year.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thing.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: In the first game, the builds play the Ravens, he got 10 touches.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: In the second game, in the playoffs, game scope got 20 touches.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: And the game was much different.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Do you, what do you think about the usage of James scope, how much does it change because of the contract, or does it at all is it more of the same, and the offense keeps marching to the same sort of beat?
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough because it's hard to say, yes, they have to do it because the offense worked last year.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: The contrast to work because he had some, even though he was only limited touches, I think he also had some success there.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what, you know, when he went, that team, you know, the offense was much better when James Cook was very good.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I do think part of it also could allude to, you know, he was fresh.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of these running, some of these running back start.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: What ran into the ground, they,
- 36:59[SPEAKER_00]: I believe, I believe, say coin at about 430 touches last year or something in receiving and maybe I'm way off in that, but some are crazy amount of touches last year.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_00]: More James Cook, it might be a little more fresh because you are able to say, hey, we can take you off the field and get you some breathers, whatever.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think the contract tells you you should increase his usage.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not something that I think at least this year, you could say, yeah, for sure, it's going to go up.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think it will a little bit.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it will be considerable.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think it will be in that realm of us.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: The amount of touches that's taken on Barclay or B. John Robinson, or even Alvin Camaro, or New Orleans.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think it will go up, but I do think they really do like obviously, you know, like Ty Johnson, they like Ray Davis.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think they want to keep James Cook fresh.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: At least early in the season, I'm not sure if it will go up.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: towards the playoffs I think like you said like could definitely change in the playoffs because you know you get down to crunch time you're going to give it to the guys that you paid and the guys that you trust and James Cook obviously by paying him will be a guy that that you you're saying hey we retrust him so how much will change that I'm unsure I do think it will go up a little bit
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if it will go up, you know, maybe it's that percentage will go up like 10%, maybe not with your jump, but yeah, we'll see everything.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think so too, but what I think that sort of gets us into is now, where does that 10% come?
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: So is it 10% more on running plays, 10% more, you know, where is he going to be involved?
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: And where I think it's really going to take place is in the passing game.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think they, they will try to use him.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: And even if it's a decoy or if it's as a real weapon, I think James Cook is really going to note that you're going to really notice the difference in James Cook's usage and production this year in the passing game.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where I'm not saying it always has to be third downs necessarily, but I think maybe some more we're so lamenting so much on the first and second-down runs the whole game.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they mix that up and throw some of those as passes.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: I expected to be 54 to 58%.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: snap share for James Cook just that little bit of up ticks 7 to 10% and then also do you have some more targets in there for him in the passing game with the departure.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: of some other folks that were here last year.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think Palmer, we talked about how Palmer, Samuel, and Elijah Moore sort of get integrated.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: You saw Elijah Moore miss with some personal stuff.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: If they don't have that sort of thing, they can use James Cook even as sort of a slot motion, sort of jet sweep type of player, like they would Elijah Moore at times as well.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of different ways they can get James Cook involved.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's really why
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: I like him in fantasy this this week is especially because when they were able to use him for 20 target or 20 touches in the playoffs this team had success and when they were getting blown out he had 10 touches and for a good reason there's no reason to send them out there and get them.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: battered, but he also, you know, they had to throw the ball more and he just wasn't there in the passing game.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to see that for the money that he's getting.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to see at least given a couple more opportunities out there in the passing game.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: I do think as well, it might not be, you know, it definitely it could be passing game.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: It could be, you know, they used him more there, but I think it also could come out down to
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: they just use him more in crunch time in the fourth quarter, you know, you might see a little less tyrants in the passing in the fourth, and maybe it's more of those type of situations.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of, you know, all we throughout the game, it's more, they're getting him more involved.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I just be in the fourth quarter.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's the go-to guy.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: He's the guy they're going to ride with Josh Allen.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be those two as the top two weapons that you're going to want to utilize now in the fourth quarter.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so yeah, I think, yeah, you might not see like send a major uptick in snaps, but yeah, might be when he's on the field, they want to get him involved as much as possible.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you know, like you said, get it to him on the back field quick or whatever it is, just get the ball on his hands, let him go to work, but yeah, I mean, it's it's going to be interesting to see how the handle is running back room, because it's kind of again, it's kind of like the receiving, but like you have you trust everybody in there.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, who, you know, you paid your care, he's got to be the guy, you paid Coke, he's got to be a guy, like, what are they gonna, how are they gonna utilize all these guys, you know, they brought back Ty Dronson and it's like, it's just, yeah, it's the power they're going to do this instead of, you know, or how much are they going to do this instead of how are they going to do this, you know?
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you know, what they're going to do, what their game plan is, but how are they going to utilize each person in that game plan, how much, and how successful is each person gonna be?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, off the cut quick and just before we get down to defense here, who's your ex-factor for the bills offence in this game?
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: Who makes the difference the most that we're not necessarily talking about yet?
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be a deal on Dawkins.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: On the offensive, like there's I think you're going to have to.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: I know Alan's good at it, you know, alluding pressure, but if you turn the ball over and you're not blocking his
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: You can't, just even one time you can't let them get blindside to that head and then lose the football because that could change the entire game.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we saw it in the playoffs, right?
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: There was major turnovers by the Ravens against the bills and that cost in the game, right?
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to end up being, I think you have to protect him and it's going to start with the number one guy that you will get in past protection on your offensive line.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the left tackle.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_00]: They have to be the guy to set the tone in past game.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: the ex-factor on this offense.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's going to be Josh Palmer.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be really fun to watch Josh all year and how he integrates in this offense.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have one to two big plays from him that really sort of turn the thing in the favor of the bills.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know, we'll see how this offense does and it's going to be definitely a huge story after the game if they put up another
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: bad game in the regular season.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's still Ravens like the dead last year, but we'll see.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, Dave and Steve survived though, right, though.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'd started to cut you off there, but it's sort of like, man, you know, the Ravens can get us in the regular season as much as they want.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do it in the postseason, but we can get the chiefs as much as we want in the regular season and can't do it in the postseason.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, yeah, I'm not too worried about, uh, really how that shakes out.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll talk about that when we get into our game prediction just a few minutes here.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, honestly, only bad part about losing the Ravens in the right
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: is hearing Ravens fans talk about it, but that's about it.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's a clock.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's a story about it.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: And Scott's not here with us tonight, but he actually lives in Baltimore, so we'll feel bad for him more than anything, having to be down in enemy territory and having to hear it.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but the bills defense is off so I'm just trying to this broken by.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: Sovelinka, then broke Sovelinka's serve back and is now trying to go and tie the the first set at four games.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: So started to wrap that again, but just what they don't just pick up.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we got to do it.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, she's bills mafia, got to give up dates and anybody any bills mafia and sports as well.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but the defense you talked about a little earlier as well about, you know, to avoid them in fantasy, but
- 44:27[SPEAKER_00]: we're looking at for the defense.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: They got a lot of guys that got to stop.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this Ravens offense is like we said not a joke.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_00]: They got obviously an MVP caliber quarterback in Lamar Jackson, Derek Henry, who is one of the greatest running backs to ever do it.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: Mark Andrews, even though people like to joke with Mark Andrews is still a good tight end in this league.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_00]: They flowers as a guy that can get open.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: He can make he make plays.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: Rashad Bateman's there, it's still, I mean, I don't gander happens, isn't it?
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: The underhap comes of old, but it's another guy that you can say, hey, he's, he's, he's, obviously had a long career, you know, is what he's doing.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of guys, you got to stop, a lot of them.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_00]: So how, what is the number one thing that you're looking at with these bills as storyline going into this game against the Ravens?
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the new defensive line, really.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: The new players along the defensive line
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: passing and rushing lanes because obviously that was an issue last year where the rushing lanes were pretty wide open and Russell Douglas and Demar Hamlin wanted nothing to do with their canry when it came to meeting him in the hole and we had nobody else to stop him.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have Greg Russo, you have Joey Bosa now on either edge, good edge setters there.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: How will Deon Walker and how will TJ Sanders help the middle?
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: We know at Alver it's going to be good at Alver and the playoff game had three QE pressures.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: I expect him to come out of the start of this season with his hair on fire and just
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: playing like that, however, that we know and really disrupting some of the game, but we are going to need it from guys like Dequan job.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, there's only going to be four details in the rotation here.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: So TJ Sanders and Dion Walker definitely are going to be
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: part of the rotation and definitely are going to need to make some impacts, and I'm looking for how they can do that as rookies, because I do believe at Oliver's going to make his impact on it, but I don't think he can do it for the full game if he's not getting some breath seren and some plays off.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: of the defensive ends.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Epinesca will see if he can be a game changer in this game.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's been a game changer in a few games, not everyone that he's played, but we'll see if he kind of brings it week one when the spotlight's bright and see how he can help kind of give some depth to that defensive line.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the defensive line, I do want to make a PSA with the defensive line as well as anybody listening.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_00]: This defensive line that you will see this week,
- 46:56[SPEAKER_00]: It will not be the same defense defensive line that you see in week 16, 17, 18 going into the player.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_00]: For sure.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_00]: You have rookies that are going to make mistakes.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_00]: You have two guys suspended.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_00]: You have Carter, who obviously is not going to play this year, but you have another guy that's out.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to have its moments.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, who knows, I think I'll be clear on could be to come out and be an unbelievable defensive line.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: All the rookies could look like their veterans and squad drones could be back to form.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody could be playing up to their contract that got paid, but it's going to be a defensive line that, you know, if they struggle against the Ravens and one of the big reasons they lose don't hit the panic button, what's
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, this is not going to be close to the same defensive one you will see later in the season because of reps with these young guys suspensions of guys coming back.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's week one in general as well.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how many times was the sky falling for the Patriots and time were 80s last year years in September, you know, everybody, they're not the same.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's September, right.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you want to say, yeah, if they make good plays, you want to reward them and then say, yeah, they're going to be good, but can't automatically do the opposite as well.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if they're struggling, say all they're going to be bad this year, it might take a little bit to kind of gel, you know, like it said, so yeah, this beautiful thing I think about this game for me like and I I'm so excited for Michael White to get here in the regular season that like I really don't mind, you know, land and Jackson can get his reps early sort of get some work early is going to take some lumps.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think Sanders and Walker are still going to take some lumps, as well as they play in the preseason as good as they have looked so far, I still think they're going to take some lumps.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, Michael Hoyt coming back with their yoga and yoga now that Dion Walker or now that Duane Carter is down for the season, I think yoga and yoga and Hoyt coming back are going to be huge, and it also is going to be huge in the postseason when
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: In teams like the Ravens haven't seen the bills at their full potential they'll be able to watch film and stuff But they're not gonna be able to see how it you know it feels on the field So I think that's a little bit of an advantage sort of if you can say that it's a little bit of an edge for the bills Going into the postseason and just be cool.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: I just broke another serve of Sabolinka So she's up five games before in the first set so rolling that plus three and a half looks pretty good right now.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: There we go Let's go
- 49:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I do also think with this defense of line, the number one thing you want to see is flashes, you want to see even if Sanders and Walker struggle or you want to see those flashes of, hey, you know, if they have one or two plays this this game where you're like, wow, like that's what you want to see with this defense of line, it's, you know, obviously with guys like Bosa or so or at Oliver, yeah, you want to see the consistency, you want to see them consistently playing well.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_00]: But for the young guys, especially, even John Solomon, land of direct, just show signs, show those ability to say, hey, you know, by the end of the season, they couldn't end up being the difference maker in the playoffs.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: So this defensive line is going to have their work cut out for them.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to keep them our tracks and contains.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to slow Derek, Henry down.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: they're even gonna have to, you know, put some pressure on him, condense the pocket, don't let him get out of the pockets.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, trash Alan, you don't wanna get him out of the pocket because then he's gonna make you look silly.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: So they got their work cut out from, but even if they do struggle, that's another thing that I did wanted to put out there is, do not panic, it is going to be a developing process with this deep unsubline.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I do see, as well, I would go on to mine now, though, if you're not sure you've got anything on the deep unsubline,
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm good man.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, Sandra actually did, uh, did bring up a player that I want to kind of talk about in just even their his position group in general as well.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_00]: Colbert ship has to be good in this game for them to have a chance.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_00]: That I do somewhat agree with that.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that he doesn't have to be great.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think good is the perfect word for that.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Sandra is good.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_00]: Good.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: point there is he has to be good.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have to be great.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have to be unstoppable.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: He has to be good.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: He has to do his job.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: He has to not give up multiple big plays or even one big play is obviously bad, but he has to even if he does come back from it, right?
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: So for me is how will bishop in the secondary fair against this team?
- 51:30[SPEAKER_00]: Not a pass first offense, but Lamar has shown over the years that he has developed his passing game.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_00]: He can be a pass when
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: Mark Andrews has been pro baller and a very good tight end in this league for a while.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_00]: How is this passing game going to fair against this ship, Benford, obviously the secondary, we don't know who's going to be going back to yet, but Mingi Marcus in-room or is it going to be Dorian's from?
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: So it's kind of like the defense of line to me as well as like there's a lot of unanswered questions.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have guys that you know who are going to do their job, you know, Toronto and Johnson and they're going to be Toronto and you know Benford hopefully is going to be Benford.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Taylor Raps can be, Taylor Raps, but Cole Bay Ship, a Dorian Strong, Jamarka Zingram, even Camlos.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you see him, what is this defense going to secondary going to look like?
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's not your account or we're going to strober on the bangles passing offense, but you're still knowing against players that have been able to do it and been able to prove it time and time again that they are capable of putting up big numbers in the passing game.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: So Lance, what do you think about this secondary?
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: Did you guys listen to Jordan Poir or what?
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: On Saturday, I got the opportunity to interview Jordan Poir.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: He said that Cole Bishop's going to be just fine.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he talked.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: We talked a little bit off the camera as well, but I asked him about it during the interview.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: And Cole Bishop's working very hard.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be an impact player for this defense and
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know we haven't seen a ton of it yet from him, but I think that's there, I think that would time, and we may not see it week one, but I think that he's going to be ready.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: They just had two more weeks now of practice since we last saw them to really hone in on what they really need to do for this game.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't seen Cool Bishop with any game planning or anything under his belt.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: this season, so last season, I think he played fine in the AFC championship, and I think that you have to just kind of believe that their coaches are really good at the safety position especially, so I think that Cole Bishop's going to be 100% ready for this, will he make a mistake or do probably, but I think overall you're going to see a good game from Cole, I think he's going to come up and not make the same mistake if Derek Henry is coming through
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to do what tomorrow Hamland did and kind of skirt him.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to go and make that hit and at least slow-hundred down, hopefully.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's where you kind of get your benefits with goal-bish up is he is sort of, you know, younger and maybe still willing to stick his neck in there, literally in those plays.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: And overall, the secondary without tray white, maybe as what I would suggest and maybe
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: because of the ravens passing attack, just not being the focal point of their offense, can they do it when they need to adequately, but like they're not a prolific passing team by any means.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the main focus is going to be stopping them on the ground and if they can do that, I think the bills will have enough success to win.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_00]: I also just got an alert on my phone, which is fun for fantasy ready for this land.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: Did it say Jessica Pugula won the first set against Arena Sado-Linca?
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: What a great first set from Jesse Pugula.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_00]: The guy that helped me and our building buff will lead by the way.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: Christian McAfrey is now questionable with a cafe in the street.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: I also took him in my other league.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I think I had the 8th pick in my other league and I got him at that spot too.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he, he was going to say how freely Cynthia Friedland told me not to worry about the injuries this year that he was going to come back and that his offseason preparation was so good that he was going to just be ready to rock and roll and get rid of the injury bugs.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I listen to Cynthia and here we are, hopefully it's not in more than this care.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe so.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but sorry, I just got the alert there and I had the head to bring it up.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right, yeah, post some game predictions in the comments.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get to that in a second.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_01]: So post your game predictions there.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to finish up with the second error here and jump into that.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when it comes to the second error, yeah, it's going to be tough.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to see what happens with them, because especially, you know, that's the bill's kind of game plan a lot of times again tomorrow is forced them to throw.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, he'll still get his on the ground.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: But if you can minimize it and not let him in Henry run the game,
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: When they do that, and they shut down the wrong game as best they can, and they force him to throw the ball 30 plus times, they usually end up in a good spot there.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, they got to be able to shut them down the passing game and then be able to slow them are and then they allow hours down.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: So we will see though.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_00]: I got nothing else though when it comes to secondary, do you have anything else plans?
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, again, I just want to reiterate that, you know, these, this game does lend itself for the bills being able to learn a little bit in game action in the secondary.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to be prolific passing offense in Baltimore.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that they're going to try to do that.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they're going to try to be prolific passing team either.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to do it when they need to, but they're going to also lean on their ground game with Kumar and Derek Henry.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where I want to see the bills excel.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see them being able to, you know, fit holes, staying in their lanes, making sure they don't give up the big play.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_01]: If they can not get, you know, the biggest thing that blew that game opened, and they couldn't really stop anything the whole game, but really that Derek Henry, you know, 80 yard or right out of the gate.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, think that just, that sets a tone, and it really is tough to kind of come back from that.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_01]: So if they can limit that sort of thing early on, I think they'll be okay.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, so I mean, you can go right into score prediction.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: I should be like, with absolutely.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: I got 34 30 Buffalo wins by four in this game home opener.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think the bills can score.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: The ravens are going to score.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be sort of a back and forth game.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: I expect the over to hit.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going 34 30 Buffalo wins in first week of the season here at the old high mark.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_00]: 3428, I just think it will be last possession.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_00]: Bills or Ravens are gonna have to either go down and they're gonna get stopped or I think the bills are gonna have to go down and Allen's gonna succeed.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, go either way.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think it will be a close game and I don't think either team will blow him blow him out.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: 35-17, now that would definitely be a statement for a week one.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, who knows though, you know what's the right?
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's NFL.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like we said, any given Sunday.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you could get blown out as week one, people are still getting into it.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, but I'm going to go with 34 to 28 bills.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_01]: Bills win, all right.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: Ben and I both on the bills on the score prediction or on the season record prediction I did with Dave Myers and Anthony Romio, you can find that on our YouTube channel as well.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_01]: This game, I was the lone person to pick the bills to win and the other two picked it as a loss.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: So we kind of, as a group, chalked it up as a loss, kind of majority rules there.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you know, I think so, hey guys, check out the big tree in this week.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: If you're at the game, I'll be there with the Monster Energy 10, you know, handing out Monster Energy drinks.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_01]: I got a couple new toys to play with, so try to do some interviews with you all if you're around, come up and see me, would love to talk before the game.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get some clips out and, you know, check out Water Buffalo Club 716, who has some great new merch out there and things like that.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: You can get one of these hats or some chains or different things.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: They got some earrings now and they got a new plastic duck with the water buffalo hat on so if you got a Jeep you want to come out and get the duck there for that just come out and check that out 97 rocks also going to be in there and a couple other folks that are that are there every year and
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: I apologize, my, their names are skewed at this point, but I think it'll be a good time.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone has a great time in that lot, so park elsewhere, but walk on down to the big tree, say hello, grab some monster energy, and we'll see you then.
