- 1:09Speaker 2: you and to meet you and for you to see
- 1:13Speaker 2: how how this whole thing works. And it's it's going
- 1:17Speaker 2: to be really really fun. I'm excited about it. It
- 1:21Speaker 2: is a five night trip from October tewod to the seventh,
- 1:25Speaker 2: twenty twenty sixth, just in case you need the very
- 1:29Speaker 2: concrete day, and it's from New York City to Bermuda,
- 1:33Speaker 2: and We're going to have a lot more information in
- 1:36Speaker 2: the coming weeks months, but for now, you can go
- 1:40Speaker 2: to Virgin Voyages dot com slash stuff to learn more
- 1:43Speaker 2: about it and to book your trip.
- 1:45Speaker 1: We would love to see.
- 1:47Speaker 4: You, yes, and not to hop right into about me.
- 1:52Speaker 4: I know that the voyages have been exciting for so
- 1:57Speaker 4: many people because not only do they get to have
- 2:00Speaker 4: this amazing experience like seeing how we work behind the scenes,
- 2:04Speaker 4: seeing how stuff you should know works and all of that,
- 2:07Speaker 4: but also you can interact with us. And if one
- 2:09Speaker 4: thing I'm going to have to do is take a
- 2:10Speaker 4: couple of these fitness classes. I know in the past
- 2:13Speaker 4: they did have zoomba classes, which looks really really cool,
- 2:16Speaker 4: which is what I'm going to talk about today. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm going to give you all an update. It's been
- 2:21Speaker 4: a minute since. If you need to update, I think
- 2:23Speaker 4: the last that I had told you was that, yes,
- 2:28Speaker 4: I am teaching and I am experiencing new things.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Annie first and foremost.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Since this is a happy hour, are you partaking in
- 2:40Speaker 4: any happy hour events right now?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Yes? I am drinking a rose oh yes.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Lovely, I am sparkling water a up, Yes, and I can.
- 2:54Speaker 3: On our voyage we could be having some exciting times
- 2:56Speaker 3: where we could also talk be happy houring together with y'all.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Yes, maybe we should have that set up for those
- 3:02Speaker 4: who are going to actually be there, have an actual
- 3:04Speaker 4: happy hour time.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yes with y'all.
- 3:07Speaker 4: That would be amazing, award winning drinks and restaurants. Hello,
- 3:11Speaker 4: let's do this anyway back to yes, So I am
- 3:15Speaker 4: in my zumba era. As y'all know, I've been in
- 3:19Speaker 4: my zumba air for like ten years. I've done this
- 3:20Speaker 4: for ten years. Made friends just recently did a whole
- 3:25Speaker 4: big event at one of our community events called Atlanta
- 3:28Speaker 4: Streets Alive, where they go around every month in different
- 3:32Speaker 4: parts of Atlanta shut down the streets and let people
- 3:35Speaker 4: become pedestrians, use their bikes and kind of tour their
- 3:39Speaker 4: own home because it's differ when you walk on the
- 3:42Speaker 4: streets and not actually drive, because you can pay attention
- 3:45Speaker 4: to see what it's around. I know I've done that
- 3:47Speaker 4: a lot of times where we're like, oh, I didn't
- 3:48Speaker 4: know that was here. Oh I didn't know this existed here.
- 3:50Speaker 4: So it's a lovely thing. So during that time, myself
- 3:54Speaker 4: and four other amazing instructors came together and did like
- 3:58Speaker 4: a three and a half hour long session. I'm pretty
- 4:01Speaker 4: sure my voice issue is partly due yes to that event.
- 4:04Speaker 4: But it was so windy it was, and the collin
- 4:08Speaker 4: was so heavy that like my eyes swelled and was
- 4:12Speaker 4: so red. Taking my contacts out felt like I was
- 4:15Speaker 4: stabbing myself with alcohol, like indirectly into my eyes. You
- 4:20Speaker 4: know when you put like hot pepper on your fingers
- 4:22Speaker 4: and you accidentally touch your eye. That's what it felt like.
- 4:25Speaker 4: It was intense. But with all of that, I have
- 4:29Speaker 4: been having the best time. My classes are slow growing.
- 4:34Speaker 4: So right now though I'm teaching zoomba at a club
- 4:38Speaker 4: La Fitness, they are not a sponsor. That's why. That's
- 4:41Speaker 4: just what happened to where my classes are and I'm
- 4:45Speaker 4: getting like ten to fifteen. But as newer people come in,
- 4:50Speaker 4: people are talking about how they.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Love my class, how they get so much fun.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I'm different.
- 4:56Speaker 4: My music and my dance are typic the original choreography
- 5:02Speaker 4: I have. Before I even started, I told y'all I
- 5:04Speaker 4: needed ten unique numbers. I have like ten, twelve, fourteen,
- 5:10Speaker 4: nice and they're slow growing, thank you. And I have
- 5:14Speaker 4: my die hard people who have always been friends, who've
- 5:17Speaker 4: been friends through other classes, that have been showing up
- 5:20Speaker 4: and supporting me. You supported me this weekend, unfortunately.
- 5:24Speaker 1: In a very funny way.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Unfortunately my set was not on Our schedule was so
- 5:30Speaker 4: ahead that we were thirty minutes early. So you friend
- 5:34Speaker 4: of show Katie as well as my partner did.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Not make it to your specific set to mind.
- 5:42Speaker 4: So y'all came man, and you're like, you know what,
- 5:44Speaker 4: it's cold? I think I'm gonn think there's a bar
- 5:47Speaker 4: right here. Let me go into here.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Yes, So we went inside and there's the glass windows there,
- 5:53Speaker 2: so we had perfect view of trumantics working out while
- 5:59Speaker 2: we were being on our peers, and we got a
- 6:02Speaker 2: very funny selfie of the three of us together and you're.
- 6:06Speaker 4: With my head the back of my head like jumping
- 6:09Speaker 4: because I've been I was doing a routine.
- 6:11Speaker 1: It was quite funny.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I was like, what is this yellow hysterical? I will
- 6:26Speaker 3: tell you.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Just like in any other anxiety written experiences, I feel
- 6:33Speaker 4: quite under prepared, under educated in this level in expertise
- 6:41Speaker 4: that like teaching classes is still seemingly like I don't
- 6:44Speaker 4: know if people are coming out of sympathy, which is
- 6:48Speaker 4: not true, because I've had many of them telling me
- 6:50Speaker 4: how good I am, how much they love my stuff,
- 6:52Speaker 4: how much they love my music. They've asked for my playlists.
- 6:57Speaker 4: That's one of the biggest compliments to me, right honestly,
- 7:00Speaker 4: telling me I have the best playlist. I'm like yes,
- 7:03Speaker 4: uh telling me of have many of them telling me
- 7:05Speaker 4: that I've got all the bangers that you got. Your
- 7:07Speaker 4: your songs are banger after banger. I was like, yes,
- 7:10Speaker 4: I love you.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So getting that kind of validation.
- 7:13Speaker 4: It's interesting to see because obviously, if you know much
- 7:16Speaker 4: about Atlanta, at one point in time, it was kind
- 7:19Speaker 4: of called like the Wakanda of the South because we
- 7:22Speaker 4: have a very strong black community, strong hip hop community.
- 7:27Speaker 4: It's interesting to see how I travel from place to
- 7:30Speaker 4: place and how different the community is like the classes.
- 7:35Speaker 4: As as beautiful as Atlanta can be, there's a level
- 7:40Speaker 4: of segregation that is interesting and for me, as a
- 7:45Speaker 4: woman of color who was not black, going into these spaces,
- 7:48Speaker 4: it's really obvious about some of the ways the city
- 7:53Speaker 4: has been laid out, and it makes me really sad
- 7:56Speaker 4: at the same time, like, I'm excited that I can
- 7:58Speaker 4: go to the different communities and teach my style, and
- 8:01Speaker 4: I do I change it up to where I am.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I will do.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Say, like some of the classes, I make it more
- 8:06Speaker 4: complicated because I know they can get it. Some of
- 8:08Speaker 4: the other classes that not so complicated, I know they
- 8:11Speaker 4: can't get it.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I have a lot of mourning.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Classes which have a lot of older people in there,
- 8:15Speaker 4: so I try to make sure that I'm on a
- 8:17Speaker 4: level that they can enjoy themselves and not get frustrated,
- 8:20Speaker 4: but also keep it hyped up enough for those who
- 8:22Speaker 4: want to get it in can get it. In my
- 8:25Speaker 4: motto at the beginning of classes, always thank you for coming.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Make sure you're listening to your bodies, modify if you
- 8:32Speaker 4: need to know injuries here, but also push where you
- 8:35Speaker 4: can because you should be able to push yourself a
- 8:37Speaker 4: little bit. And I enjoy it even in the days
- 8:40Speaker 4: that I'm like this is weird, the vibe is weird,
- 8:42Speaker 4: because you can tell a vibe. It still feels nice
- 8:46Speaker 4: to be able to do these things. But I also
- 8:48Speaker 4: come away thinking they hate me sometimes they or they
- 8:51Speaker 4: didn't like this, or if people go missing for a
- 8:53Speaker 4: couple of classes, I think they don't like me anymore.
- 8:57Speaker 4: So I very much navigated getting my personal anxieties, performance anxieties,
- 9:04Speaker 4: and like just self esteem issues at the same time.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And then basking and those who are giving so much
- 9:12Speaker 4: to me, like those who are supporting me, who are
- 9:15Speaker 4: coming out, who coming out to different classes, who travel
- 9:17Speaker 4: to see me, like that is a joy. And I
- 9:20Speaker 4: will also say like the people who I've had seen
- 9:22Speaker 4: as mentors being there for me has been beautiful. Two
- 9:26Speaker 4: specific ones I've talked about Cardio jam and DeMarco before.
- 9:31Speaker 4: He was my introduction to these classes or ten years ago,
- 9:34Speaker 4: eleven years ago, I think, and he has been with
- 9:37Speaker 4: me when I teach a class and if I ask
- 9:40Speaker 4: him for help, he is there immediately, and I can't
- 9:43Speaker 4: talk about how amazing that is.
- 9:45Speaker 3: That kind of support can be.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I had a woman who I used to do classes
- 9:49Speaker 4: with she now teaches, and she reached out to me.
- 9:50Speaker 4: She's like, oh my god, I'm so proud of you.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I need to come to a class, we need to
- 9:54Speaker 4: teach together. And I love those moments. And then Fred,
- 9:57Speaker 4: who is my zoomba instructor that I love and a
- 10:00Speaker 4: door he was the one that actually gave me the
- 10:04Speaker 4: confidence to be like, you can teach, you actually can
- 10:08Speaker 4: do this.
- 10:08Speaker 3: You should try it.
- 10:09Speaker 4: And then Gigi, whom I love, she was the first
- 10:12Speaker 4: one to pull me to the front and let me
- 10:14Speaker 4: have a spotlight. I was like, what, maybe I can
- 10:16Speaker 4: do this. So this has been a really empowering moment,
- 10:22Speaker 4: which I don't say that often about myself, like I
- 10:27Speaker 4: don't I can't oftentimes label those moments. I don't talk
- 10:31Speaker 4: about people who I see is influential or influences, not
- 10:34Speaker 4: because there's not people who've influenced me. Obviously there have,
- 10:37Speaker 4: but oftentimes for me, there's so many conflicts in our
- 10:43Speaker 4: belief systems that I don't feel like it's you know,
- 10:46Speaker 4: I mean like it's been a pill battle in so
- 10:48Speaker 4: many ways. Love and support is always there, but mentoring
- 10:52Speaker 4: and being someone that you can truly look up to
- 10:54Speaker 4: is a whole different level. Also in understanding that we're
- 10:58Speaker 4: all human, putting anybody on a pet soul is dangerous
- 11:01Speaker 4: and I don't do that because people are fallible no
- 11:04Speaker 4: matter what. You are going to have different opinions. No
- 11:06Speaker 4: matter what, there's going to be a moment where you
- 11:08Speaker 4: feel disappointed in yourself or they may feel disappointed in you,
- 11:12Speaker 4: or you feel disappointed in them. And a part of
- 11:14Speaker 4: humanity is to be able to work it out. Sometimes
- 11:17Speaker 4: you can't, hopefully you can. But all those things to
- 11:20Speaker 4: say is that to have a moment of like this
- 11:23Speaker 4: is what encouraged this path has been interesting, especially late
- 11:29Speaker 4: in the game, especially when it comes to like.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Seeing immediate critiques. You know what I mean?
- 11:39Speaker 4: Does does that make sense? But yeah, so it's been interesting.
- 11:45Speaker 4: I'm still struggling. I'm still struggling with balancing. There's also
- 11:48Speaker 4: been a whole level of understanding how to say no. Yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 4: constant struggle because I've had to or I would be
- 11:57Speaker 4: teaching two classes a day for every day. There's no way.
- 12:01Speaker 4: There's no way. My body cannot handle that. My body
- 12:03Speaker 4: can barely handle this.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Well, I have to say, you looked like you knew
- 12:09Speaker 2: what you were doing when I was at the event.
- 12:11Speaker 1: He looks really good.
- 12:13Speaker 3: From inside the from inside the building, you.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Looked wonderful with my beer in hand.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Yeah, we were in like hoodies and coats because we
- 12:22Speaker 4: were so cold.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It was we would have stayed outside. But I don't
- 12:26Speaker 2: know what we were thinking. But my friend Katie was
- 12:29Speaker 2: She was in shorts and a like short there's no way,
- 12:33Speaker 2: and I felt okay, but I could tell as time passed,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I was.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Gonna be cold. So yeah, we did on sure inside.
- 12:42Speaker 4: I don't believe I would too. I was like, oh no,
- 12:43Speaker 4: they're gonna be so miserable. It was fun. The events
- 12:47Speaker 4: were on Atlanta Streets Alive, so if you are local,
- 12:51Speaker 4: and I'm sure there's other events other places I have
- 12:53Speaker 4: events like this, but I do adore. I remember when
- 12:56Speaker 4: it first started, yeah, and how fun it really was
- 13:00Speaker 4: because it just felt like a community coming together, seeing
- 13:04Speaker 4: new businesses, seeing small businesses come together, and being able
- 13:07Speaker 4: to see things that are happening, getting news about Atlanta.
- 13:11Speaker 3: It's fun.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It is fun. I told you this the first time
- 13:16Speaker 2: I saw it. You know, I don't drive anywhere, so
- 13:19Speaker 2: I'm walking around or I used to bike. I hardly
- 13:22Speaker 2: do anymore, but that's what I do anyway, and so
- 13:26Speaker 2: sometimes I would run into these and I'd.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Be like, why is everybody on the street? Like I think.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It took me a couple of years before I realized
- 13:34Speaker 2: it was a vala and I would just be like,
- 13:36Speaker 2: what's happened here? Did they close the street down because
- 13:40Speaker 2: something's gone wrong?
- 13:42Speaker 3: That's funny. I think I went to the first inaugural
- 13:45Speaker 3: one it.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Was cool, nice nice pree covid.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Oh wow, oh yeah, I just stumbled on one on
- 13:56Speaker 2: constantly on once and then one year Piedmont.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Yep.
- 14:01Speaker 2: That means nothing to people know, but those are streets
- 14:05Speaker 2: that are near me. They're like well known Atlanta streets.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Well, I'm happy for the update. I'm happy it's going well,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and I'm sure you'll continue to grow. I believe, I
- 14:21Speaker 2: believe that you are probably very popular teacher, so.
- 14:27Speaker 3: I'll tell you when I get over twenty people.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I think ten to fifteen's pretty good, honestly. But yes,
- 14:35Speaker 2: let me know, keep me updated, all right, listeners. In
