- 0:00Speaker 1: We are live in Barrismo Cow's Barbecue, and this place
- 0:03Speaker 1: is jumping. I think travelers must all you folks here
- 0:06Speaker 1: from Travelers or stuff like that here.
- 0:08Speaker 2: On a Monday night. Good Yeah, see Travis down the street.
- 0:11Speaker 1: We've had a bunch of people from Travelers here before
- 0:13Speaker 1: for a coach a show. I'm Bob Joyce, Mike Kavanaugh
- 0:16Speaker 1: with me. Adam Gardino is not with us tonight. Adam
- 0:18Speaker 1: is basically spending the next two weeks down in the
- 0:21Speaker 1: Stanford at NBC headquarters, where he's gonna be doing some
- 0:23Speaker 1: Olympic stuff helping I guess visually impaired kind of accentuate
- 0:28Speaker 1: TV broadcasts for the visually impaired.
- 0:31Speaker 3: So that's pretty cool.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He's gonna be do an eight hour shift, so I
- 0:33Speaker 1: don't know what sports he's doing, but I think by
- 0:35Speaker 1: the time you play BC at Hartford, which is a
- 0:38Speaker 1: scheduled date to return, I think his brand's gonna be fried.
- 0:41Speaker 2: That's a lot of work and concentration.
- 0:43Speaker 1: You gotta listen to handle it. Yeah, he's he's well,
- 0:47Speaker 1: he's trained to do that. I don't know if I am.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I don't know if i'd be able to do that, but Anyhow,
- 0:52Speaker 1: last time we visited was before Connecticut Ice and you
- 0:55Speaker 1: defended your championship with wins over Yale and Quinnipiac, then
- 1:00Speaker 1: a week off and then had just one game last
- 1:02Speaker 1: weekend because it's bean Pot week. So you played Northeastern.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So after they played last Monday, they're playing right now
- 1:08Speaker 1: against Harvard. You played them Friday at Bentley and he
- 1:11Speaker 1: came away with a two nothing wins. So right now
- 1:14Speaker 1: your team's playing some pretty good hockey, but your goaltender
- 1:17Speaker 1: has been really good. Time Musliic, I watched the game
- 1:19Speaker 1: today because I watched you con Saint John's Friday night.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Watch the game today. Ty was magnificent On Friday. You
- 1:25Speaker 1: only saw sixteen shots on goal, but most of his
- 1:28Speaker 1: saves were top notch, especially first period at the blocker
- 1:31Speaker 1: save he made post a post and he made a
- 1:33Speaker 1: big one in the.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Third period two.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You know, we started a little bit slow. It was a.
- 1:39Speaker 4: It was a strange game from the standpoint. Obviously we
- 1:42Speaker 4: didn't play it at Northeastern. We played it at Bentley.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Right, and it was just.
- 1:48Speaker 4: A strange vibe in the arena as opposed to like
- 1:54Speaker 4: this weekend when we go to Maine, there will be
- 1:56Speaker 4: an ambient atmosphere, to say the least at Bentley it
- 2:01Speaker 4: was very melancholy.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I would say, did.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It like a preseason game. Yeah, it almost.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Felt like a scrimmage exhibition type thing. There was no band,
- 2:11Speaker 4: there was there was nothing, And I thought we started
- 2:15Speaker 4: slow and Moose made some big saves early and then
- 2:18Speaker 4: we found our game. You know, we scored at the
- 2:22Speaker 4: end of the first period or midway through the first period,
- 2:24Speaker 4: and I think we only gave up eight shots like
- 2:28Speaker 4: in the second and third period. I think we only
- 2:30Speaker 4: gave up four shots each period. So we played pretty
- 2:32Speaker 4: well after that.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, sixteen shots on goal. Ty gets to win second
- 2:36Speaker 1: shot out of the season.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Guardula scores from.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Wickham and a nice pass, nice little chip in front,
- 2:41Speaker 1: and then just good work by Well. I like to
- 2:44Speaker 1: call these guys the foot soldiers. He slipped in the
- 2:46Speaker 1: and Tristan Fraser and suddenly alexand Blaize got a nice
- 2:49Speaker 1: tap in.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I mean, that's and that's what you need.
- 2:52Speaker 3: He did.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Fraser made the play on that goal. He was really
- 2:55Speaker 4: the thing that makes uh I think he slips line
- 2:59Speaker 4: so active at times. You know, when Northeastern plays a
- 3:03Speaker 4: very passive neutral zone almost like an zero five. They
- 3:07Speaker 4: don't come over the red line, So you just can't
- 3:10Speaker 4: be indiscriminate when you dumped the puck. You have to
- 3:14Speaker 4: have a plan, and they did. They executed to a t.
- 3:18Speaker 4: When they were out there on the ice, they were
- 3:20Speaker 4: placing the puck in an area where we if we
- 3:23Speaker 4: didn't get first touch, their defenseman was going to be
- 3:26Speaker 4: under a lot of heat. So I thought they did
- 3:29Speaker 4: a great job at that creating turnovers, and Fraser was
- 3:32Speaker 4: excellent creating the turnover getting the puck to Tabor, and
- 3:35Speaker 4: Taber made a nice playback door to Blazer.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have to think and we and Tristan's
- 3:41Speaker 1: gonna be one of our guests tonight interview wise bottom
- 3:44Speaker 1: of the Hour along with Alan Anthony Lanceomaki, your freshman, youngest,
- 3:48Speaker 1: one of the youngest kids in college hockey, right right right.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But I mentioned to Tristan, I mean, look he Tabor
- 3:54Speaker 1: and Jake, it seems like they've been on the same
- 3:58Speaker 1: line since their freshman year. Yeah, sometimes times you break
- 4:00Speaker 1: them up, but they have been pretty much constant. That's
- 4:03Speaker 1: got to help. I mean air force checking. They know
- 4:06Speaker 1: where they are. Their tendency is all that, and that's
- 4:09Speaker 1: and and come postseason time or like exhibit a Connecticut ice,
- 4:14Speaker 1: they tend to come up big in big spots for
- 4:16Speaker 1: you to.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Yeah, Frase made a great play.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Well.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Tabor was first in on the ford check for the
- 4:21Speaker 4: game winning goal against Quinnipiac and uh got it to
- 4:24Speaker 4: phrase and his uh stick broke on the shot, which
- 4:29Speaker 4: actually probably fooled the goaltender. It was almost like a
- 4:32Speaker 4: change up right right, and then Perce got the rebound
- 4:35Speaker 4: and put it home.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So how often do you see that? I asked Tristan,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I go, have you ever have you ever had a
- 4:41Speaker 1: set up a goal with a broke with the way
- 4:42Speaker 1: you broke your stick. I mean he was ready to
- 4:44Speaker 1: rifle and his just stick just.
- 4:46Speaker 3: He did he did rifle that the stick just broke.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:49Speaker 3: It was amazing that it still got to the net.
- 4:51Speaker 3: You know.
- 4:52Speaker 4: But you know, they they have a lot of experience.
- 4:54Speaker 4: They feel I think when you've been in a program.
- 4:58Speaker 4: That's why it's so important to try to keep seniors
- 5:01Speaker 4: and have a bunch of seniors on your team. Because
- 5:04Speaker 4: they've been through a lot of wars. They feel comfortable,
- 5:07Speaker 4: like nothing going up to Maine is going to surprise them, right,
- 5:10Speaker 4: They've been up there so many times, so it's it
- 5:14Speaker 4: certainly helps team, it does.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And then you throw in Brian Saddle Thomasinho in there
- 5:19Speaker 1: as well. Obviously Tom has been played a big role
- 5:22Speaker 1: with Anthony.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Alliance Samaki on the back line.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And then what tax continues to do with Jake and
- 5:27Speaker 1: Joey up front. I mean, these are five guys that
- 5:30Speaker 1: have seen everything, so nothing's going to surprise them, and no,
- 5:34Speaker 1: and and they just go out and flat out play
- 5:36Speaker 1: and give you their.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Best, you know.
- 5:37Speaker 4: And Tyler Muslik has only been with us for two years,
- 5:39Speaker 4: but he's been in the league four years, so he's
- 5:42Speaker 4: seen a lot as well. So it's nice having uh,
- 5:47Speaker 4: you know, like that group who's very comfortable playing in
- 5:51Speaker 4: any any building or any atmosphere.
- 5:53Speaker 1: How are their leadership qualities different? How are they different?
- 5:56Speaker 1: How they similar in some ways? With these five six?
- 5:58Speaker 3: Ah, that's good question.
- 6:00Speaker 4: You know. Tabor's certainly the most vocal of all of them.
- 6:04Speaker 4: He's always vocal, you know, Perse is kind of quiet,
- 6:09Speaker 4: but it just he works and he kills penalties and
- 6:13Speaker 4: he does things the right way. And Frase is very physical,
- 6:17Speaker 4: Missinio is just so steady in his play, like Taber's
- 6:22Speaker 4: the most vocal of all of them. He's even you know,
- 6:25Speaker 4: Joey Muldowney's a captain as well. Joey's not a real
- 6:28Speaker 4: vocal kid. That doesn't mean that they can't be great leaders,
- 6:32Speaker 4: right right. They do it in different ways.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, by the way I thought, and we'll get
- 6:38Speaker 1: into a little more of this a little later. I
- 6:39Speaker 1: thought Tom and Anthony Lianceomaki played very well against Quinnipiac
- 6:45Speaker 1: because they were out there a lot with the top
- 6:46Speaker 1: two lines for Quinnipiac, and I thought they they did
- 6:49Speaker 1: it right for themselves.
- 6:50Speaker 4: They did no, I thought against Quinnipiac, I thought all
- 6:53Speaker 4: of our defense been played pretty well. I thought it
- 6:54Speaker 4: was a pretty good team effort in that game. You know,
- 6:59Speaker 4: it was probably you know, the first period was a
- 7:01Speaker 4: little bit of feeling out. I thought they took the
- 7:03Speaker 4: game over a little bit in the second period when
- 7:06Speaker 4: they got those two goals, and after those two goals,
- 7:09Speaker 4: they had some chances and and Moose made some saves.
- 7:12Speaker 3: The third period is when I thought we took the
- 7:15Speaker 3: game over.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know, we tied it up with fifteen
- 7:19Speaker 4: minutes ago, and then I thought we just kept coming
- 7:23Speaker 4: and really liked our third period in that game.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and it didn't start particularly well. In that third period.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You had a power play right out of the gate
- 7:29Speaker 1: that Quidipiac just took care of pretty well.
- 7:32Speaker 2: But then you could just see with every shift things
- 7:35Speaker 2: were changing.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Both goalies were fabulous in the third period, right, and
- 7:38Speaker 1: then you got a couple of breaks and you get
- 7:40Speaker 1: yourself a Win's second time this year you've won a
- 7:43Speaker 1: game after trailing through two in regulation. With the wins,
- 7:47Speaker 1: that's big, that's big. And yeah, quintip Actual become quite
- 7:50Speaker 1: a little rivalry with you too.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think it's it was important. That was
- 7:54Speaker 4: an important game for us because we had been either
- 7:57Speaker 4: tied or leading, i think, going into the third period
- 8:03Speaker 4: in the previous games and lost them with them in
- 8:06Speaker 4: the championship games and lost and this year we were
- 8:09Speaker 4: down a goal, but we were able to kind of
- 8:12Speaker 4: commiserate together, you know, and say, okay, we're still within
- 8:15Speaker 4: a goal here, this is the third period. It's our
- 8:18Speaker 4: turn to win one.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And it was great atmosphere Yale too. It was just
- 8:21Speaker 1: a good, solid college hockey game.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It was start to finish, great, It was very good.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Great all right, we're here with CAV We've got Anthony Lance,
- 8:29Speaker 1: Samaki and Tristan Fraser is our player interviews coming up
- 8:33Speaker 1: a little later on the show. We're live at bear
- 8:34Speaker 1: Smokehouse Barbecue on the Yukon Hockey Coaches Show Here on Learfield,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Stay with us.
