- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey
- 0:03Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Free from control. Free from control.
- 0:12Speaker 1: First Corinthians 919 of the Amplified says, I am free
- 0:16Speaker 1: in every way from anyone's control. Have you ever said
- 0:21Speaker 1: yes to something you really wanted to say no to?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Maybe you were afraid of hurting someone's feeling, disappointing a
- 0:27Speaker 1: friend or being accused of not caring. So you put
- 0:30Speaker 1: your own needs aside to keep somebody else happy. But
- 0:35Speaker 1: let me remind you of something today. You can love
- 0:38Speaker 1: people without surrendering your freedom to them. Some people use
- 0:42Speaker 1: guilt as a tool to get their way. They may say,
- 0:45Speaker 1: if you really loved me, you would do this. Or
- 0:48Speaker 1: after everything I've done for you, this is how you
- 0:51Speaker 1: treat me? Suddenly, you find yourself feeling responsible for their emotions,
- 0:56Speaker 1: their expectations, and their happiness.
- 0:58Speaker 2: But love should not require manipulation.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Healthy relationships make room for honesty, mutual respect, and the
- 1:07Speaker 1: freedom to say no. Someone who truly values you may
- 1:12Speaker 1: not always agree with your decisions, but they should respect
- 1:15Speaker 1: your right to make decisions. The Apostle Paul understood the
- 1:20Speaker 1: importance of freedom. In 1 Corinthians 9, 19, he spoke
- 1:24Speaker 1: about being free from everyone while choosing to serve others
- 1:29Speaker 1: for the sake of the gospel. His example reminds us
- 1:32Speaker 1: that serving people should be a choice guided by purpose,
- 1:36Speaker 1: not a life sentence under their control. Now, setting boundaries
- 1:40Speaker 1: does not mean you're selfish.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Unkind, or difficult.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It means you understand that your time, your energy, your resources,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and your emotional well-being matter too. You can say, I
- 1:52Speaker 1: love you, but I can't do that right now. You
- 1:55Speaker 1: can decline an invitation without giving a lengthy explanation. You
- 2:01Speaker 1: can step away from a conversation that becomes disrespectful and
- 2:05Speaker 1: you can stop accepting responsibility for problems that are not
- 2:10Speaker 1: yours to solve. Remember, you're responsible for communicating your boundaries
- 2:16Speaker 1: and taking reasonable steps to uphold them. You can't control
- 2:22Speaker 1: how someone responds, but you can decide what behavior you're
- 2:26Speaker 1: going to accept in your own life. And if a
- 2:29Speaker 1: relationship involves threats, intimidations, or abuse, setting boundaries may require
- 2:35Speaker 1: support and a safety plan.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You don't have to navigate that alone.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You have spent enough time feeling guilty for choosing what's
- 2:42Speaker 1: healthy for you. You don't have to spend another 20
- 2:46Speaker 1: years trapped in unhealthy patterns simply because you're afraid someone
- 2:50Speaker 1: might be mad at you. You can be compassionate without
- 2:53Speaker 1: being controlled. You can be generous without being used. And
- 2:56Speaker 1: you can walk in love without losing yourself in the process. Today,
- 3:01Speaker 1: give yourself permission to live free. Let your yes be sincere.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Let your no be respected. And let God guide you
- 3:10Speaker 1: in your relationships that honor the person he created you
- 3:15Speaker 1: to be. Oh, Father God, thank you for creating us
- 3:18Speaker 1: to walk in freedom, wisdom, and in love. Give us
- 3:21Speaker 1: the courage to recognize manipulation and the strength to establish
- 3:24Speaker 1: healthy boundaries. Help us to release the guilt of disappointing
- 3:27Speaker 1: people when we have to make a decision that protects
- 3:31Speaker 1: our well-being. Teach us to love others without losing ourselves
- 3:35Speaker 1: and to serve without being exploited and to speak.
- 3:38Speaker 2: The truth with grace.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Surround us, God, with relationships built on mutual respect, honesty,
- 3:45Speaker 1: and genuine love. Oh, today we choose freedom. We choose
- 3:48Speaker 1: peace and healthy relationships in Jesus' name. Hey, now, that's
- 3:53Speaker 1: your word for today. Take and apply it to your
- 3:55Speaker 1: everyday life and you continue to be encouraged and inspired.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It's your early morning praise party.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I am Sherri Mackey.
