- 0:00Speaker 1: Chapter nine of Religion. By the kingly knowledge and the
- 0:05Speaker 1: kingly mystery Krishna. Now will I open unto thee whose
- 0:12Speaker 1: heart rejects not that lost lore, deepest conceal'd, that farthest
- 0:18Speaker 1: secret of my heavens and earths, which but to know
- 0:22Speaker 1: shall set thee free from ills, A royal lore, a
- 0:27Speaker 1: kingly mystery. Here for the soul, such light as purgeth
- 0:32Speaker 1: it from every sin, a light of holiness, with inmost splendor,
- 0:38Speaker 1: shining plain to see, easy to walk by, inexhaustible. They
- 0:44Speaker 1: that receive not this, failing in faith to grasp the
- 0:48Speaker 1: greater wisdom, reach not me, destroyer of thy foes. They
- 0:54Speaker 1: sink anew into the realm of flesh, where all things
- 0:58Speaker 1: change by me. The whole vast universe of things is
- 1:03Speaker 1: spread abroad by me, the unmanifest in me. Are all
- 1:09Speaker 1: existences contained, not I in them? Yet they are not
- 1:15Speaker 1: contained Those visible things receive and strive to embrace the
- 1:21Speaker 1: mystery majestical my being, creating all, sustaining, all still dwells
- 1:29Speaker 1: outside of all. See as the shoreless airs move in
- 1:34Speaker 1: the measureless space, but are not space and space or
- 1:39Speaker 1: space without the moving airs. So all things are in me,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but are not I. At closing of each culpa Indian prints,
- 1:51Speaker 1: all things which be back to my being come at
- 1:55Speaker 1: the beginning of each culpa, all issue newborn from me
- 2:01Speaker 1: by energy and help of Procrithi, my outer self. Again,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and yet again I make go forth the realms of
- 2:11Speaker 1: visible things without their will, all of them by the
- 2:16Speaker 1: power of Procrithi. Yet these great making sprints involve me
- 2:22Speaker 1: not and chain me not. I sit apart from them,
- 2:26Speaker 1: other and higher and free, no wise attached. Thus doth
- 2:33Speaker 1: the stuff of worlds, molded by me, bring forth all
- 2:36Speaker 1: that which is moving, or still living, or lifeless. Thus
- 2:42Speaker 1: the world's go on. The minds untaught mistake me, veiled
- 2:47Speaker 1: in form. Not see they of my secret presence, not
- 2:53Speaker 1: of my hidden nature, ruling all which lives, vain hopes,
- 2:58Speaker 1: pursuing vain deeds, doing fed on vainest knowledge senselessly, they
- 3:05Speaker 1: seek an evil we the way of brutes and fiance.
- 3:09Speaker 1: But my Mahatmas, those of noble soul who tread the
- 3:13Speaker 1: path Celesteel, worship me with hearts unwandering, knowing me the sores,
- 3:20Speaker 1: the eternal source of life. Unendingly they glorify me, seek me,
- 3:26Speaker 1: keep their vows of reverence and love with changeless faith,
- 3:32Speaker 1: adoring me. Yea, And those two adore who offering sacrifice
- 3:37Speaker 1: of wakened hearts have sense of one pervading spirit's stress,
- 3:43Speaker 1: one force in every place, though manifold. I am the sacrifice,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I am the prayer. I am the funeral cake set
- 3:54Speaker 1: for the dead. I am the healing herb. I am
- 3:58Speaker 1: the ghee, the mantra and the flame, and that which burns.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I am of all this boundless universe, the Father, Mother, Ancestor,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and God, the end of learning, that which purifies in
- 4:14Speaker 1: illustril water. I am Olm. I am rig Veda, sama Veda,
- 4:22Speaker 1: yajur Veda, the Way, the fosterer, the Lord, the judge,
- 4:29Speaker 1: the witness, the abode, the refuge, house, the friend, the fountain,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and the sea of life, which sends and swallows up
- 4:39Speaker 1: treasure of worlds and treasure chamber, seed and seed sower.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Whence endless harvests. Spring. Sun's heat is mine, Heaven's rain
- 4:53Speaker 1: is mine. To grant or to withhold. Death am I
- 4:58Speaker 1: and immortal life. I am a Juna sath and asuth,
- 5:02Speaker 1: visible life and life invisible. Yea. Those who learn the Threefold.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Weds who drink the Soma vine purge sins, pay sacrifice
- 5:15Speaker 1: from Me. They earn passage to Swerga, where the meats
- 5:19Speaker 1: divine of great gods freed them in High Indra's heaven.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yet they, when that prodigious joy is o'er paradise, spent
- 5:29Speaker 1: and wage for merits given, come to the world of
- 5:32Speaker 1: death and change. Once more they had their recompense. They
- 5:38Speaker 1: stored their treasure, following the Threefold Scripture and its writ
- 5:43Speaker 1: who seeketh such gaineth the fleeting pleasure of joy which
- 5:47Speaker 1: comes and goes. I grant them it. But to those
- 5:51Speaker 1: blessed ones who worship me, turning not otherwhere, with minds
- 5:56Speaker 1: set fast, I bring assurance of full bliss beyond nay,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and of hearts which follow other gods in simple faith.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Their prayers arise to me, O count Thee's son, though
- 6:10Speaker 1: they pray wrongfully, for I am the receiver and the
- 6:15Speaker 1: Lord of every sacrifice, which these know not rightfully. So
- 6:20Speaker 1: they fall to earth again. Who follow gods go to
- 6:24Speaker 1: their gods, who wow their souls to pythres, go to pythres,
- 6:30Speaker 1: minds to evil boots given o'er sink to the boots,
- 6:35Speaker 1: and whoso loveth me cometh to me, who so shall
- 6:38Speaker 1: offer me in faith and love a leaf, a flower,
- 6:43Speaker 1: a fruit, water poured forth. That offering I accept lovingly,
- 6:49Speaker 1: made with pious will. Whatever thou doest, Prince, eating or sacrificing,
- 6:56Speaker 1: giving gifts, praying or fasting, let it all be done
- 7:01Speaker 1: for me as mine. So shalt thou free thyself from karmaband,
- 7:08Speaker 1: the chain which holdeth men to good and evil issue.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So shalt come safe unto me, when thou art quit
- 7:16Speaker 1: of flesh by faith and abdication, join'd to me. I
- 7:22Speaker 1: am alike. For all I know not hate, I know
- 7:26Speaker 1: not favor. What is made is mine. But them that
- 7:31Speaker 1: worship me with love I love. They are in me,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and I in them. Nay, Prince, if one of evil
- 7:40Speaker 1: life turn in his thought straitly to me, count him
- 7:44Speaker 1: amidst the good he hath the highway chosen. He shall
- 7:49Speaker 1: grow righteous ere long he shall attain that peace which
- 7:54Speaker 1: changes not Thou, Prince of India, be certain none can perish.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Trust me O Bretha's son, whoso will turn to me,
- 8:04Speaker 1: though they be borne from the very womb of sin,
- 8:08Speaker 1: woman or man, sprung of the vicia caste or lowly disregarded. Sudra,
- 8:15Speaker 1: all plant foot upon the highest path. How then, the
- 8:19Speaker 1: holy Brahmans and my royal saints ah ye, who into
- 8:25Speaker 1: this ill world are come fleeting and false. Set your
- 8:30Speaker 1: faith fast on me, Fix heart and thought on me,
- 8:34Speaker 1: adore me, Bring offerings to me, make me prostrations, Make
- 8:40Speaker 1: me your supremest joy and undivided. Unto my rest, your
- 8:45Speaker 1: spirits shall be guided here ends Chapter nine.
