Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Scheger is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up, Everybody, Welcome to
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Season with Peter Schreger. If you're listening, you might
- 0:27Speaker 1: see in your feed that we have another podcast for
- 0:31Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. It's with Dan Soder, who's a die
- 0:34Speaker 1: hard forty nine Ers fan. He's a stand up comedian.
- 0:36Speaker 1: He's one of the most successful stand up comedians in
- 0:39Speaker 1: the game right now. We had an amazing hour long
- 0:41Speaker 1: talk heading into the Super Bowl and his experience being
- 0:46Speaker 1: in Niners fan going into it. But I wanted to
- 0:48Speaker 1: give a bonus odd for those who might be traveling
- 0:51Speaker 1: on Friday night, might be traveling on Saturday, might be
- 0:54Speaker 1: at the gym getting ready for the Super Bowl. This
- 0:56Speaker 1: is a two part of here. The first part is
- 0:58Speaker 1: going to be an interview with a hero of mine
- 0:59Speaker 1: and a guy that I think is quite arguably the
- 1:01Speaker 1: most influential person for me doing what I do every
- 1:05Speaker 1: day on a microphone, and that's Chris mad Dog Russo.
- 1:08Speaker 1: If you want the backstory, long before he was on
- 1:10Speaker 1: ESPN tearning it up on first take, Chris mad Dog
- 1:13Speaker 1: Russo was the voice of my childhood on sports. He
- 1:16Speaker 1: and Mike Francessa had the Mic and the Mad Dog
- 1:19Speaker 1: Show on WFAN, and they didn't just hit local sports,
- 1:22Speaker 1: they would hit everything. They would hit you know, Sopranos episodes,
- 1:25Speaker 1: they would hit what's going on in politics, they would
- 1:28Speaker 1: talk about movies, they would talk about everything. And it
- 1:30Speaker 1: was two guys who weren't necessarily best friends, but they
- 1:35Speaker 1: came from different paths and they made great, great art together.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I've always wanted to interview mad Dog. Now I've been
- 1:43Speaker 1: on Francissa's show a bunch, I've been on frances'spot, I
- 1:47Speaker 1: never had a chance to really, you know, meet mad Dog.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And with Super Bowl being in Las Vegas and knowing
- 1:54Speaker 1: what a hit he's been with some of his takes
- 1:55Speaker 1: over the last few months, I really went out there
- 1:58Speaker 1: and I tried to be aggressive in landing mad Dog
- 2:02Speaker 1: for our super Bowl episode. Well, he agreed to do
- 2:04Speaker 1: the podcast, and we're going to do is. I'm going
- 2:06Speaker 1: to toss to the interview, which I think is great,
- 2:09Speaker 1: and then I'm gonna give you my official super Bowl prediction,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and then we're gonna call it a day and call
- 2:13Speaker 1: it a weekend, and we're gonna go enjoy some wings
- 2:15Speaker 1: and some chips and go watch some football. So no
- 2:17Speaker 1: further ado, Christopher mad Dog Russo, with no further ado.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I've said it time and time again. He's my favorite
- 2:27Speaker 1: person in sports media. I grew up watching Mick and
- 2:29Speaker 1: the Mad Dog, and I have just sow in awe
- 2:31Speaker 1: of what he's done since then. I love the second chapter,
- 2:34Speaker 1: third chapter, and now we're in this chapter where a
- 2:36Speaker 1: whole new audience is learning about him from first take,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and he's incredible and his Wednesday ran say some of
- 2:41Speaker 1: the best things on television or radio right now, No
- 2:45Speaker 1: further ado, Christopher mad Dog Russo. Welcome, Peter.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Nice to have you with us.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I was not realize you were such a huge fan,
- 2:51Speaker 3: so right out of the gate, I get a nice
- 2:52Speaker 3: little bonus on a Thursday afternoon.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Go ahead, dude, I remember you sending Mark Melus's to
- 2:57Speaker 1: a bar in Jersey while he was.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Oh my god, do you remember that. Oh you are
- 3:01Speaker 3: a big crick You do understand.
- 3:02Speaker 1: This is my entire childhood. From one o'clock to six o'clock.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I would listen to you guys religiously. I've been on friends.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Oh you were wrapped up and talk Iron Eagle as
- 3:11Speaker 1: your producer. I remember listening then, I mean, this is
- 3:13Speaker 1: this is how far I go back with you guys.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So so you're talking ninety the ninety four stretches like
- 3:18Speaker 1: you know this legendary you guys going back from Vancouver
- 3:21Speaker 1: to Houston, sitting in the airport and the whole thing.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh my god, you are. Jeez, you're a groupeable.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's so funny. You referenced in your recent rant about.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I got mad.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I got mad at Mike and that chippy because you
- 3:34Speaker 3: wouldn't go to Vancouver, so the station made him go
- 3:36Speaker 3: out there for Game six when the Rangers had a
- 3:38Speaker 3: chance to win the cup. Mike wouldn't want to go.
- 3:40Speaker 3: It was a Saturday night, but they made him go.
- 3:42Speaker 2: That was funny. So what was it?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Game six was in at the shootout game and there
- 3:46Speaker 1: was a Game six.
- 3:47Speaker 2: They got killed. They lost three or four nothing, okay, because.
- 3:50Speaker 1: They lost Game one at home yesterday day in overtime.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Hits the goal and then a couple.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Then then they went three row and then we come.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Back to game seven, and of course you guys were
- 4:01Speaker 1: in the saddle, but I don't remember Game six.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah, Game six was a Saturday night. I'm gonna I
- 4:06Speaker 3: think the score was three nothing. Remember they had a
- 4:09Speaker 3: k They were three to one, and they lost Game
- 4:12Speaker 3: five at the Garden eight to five or something like that.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Everybody thought they were going to win the game and
- 4:16Speaker 3: celebrate their cup. How to go back to Vancouver. That's
- 4:19Speaker 3: the one that Mike didn't want to go to. This
- 4:21Speaker 3: is a Saturday night show. But we flew to Vancouver.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Did this show flew back to New York? I remember
- 4:28Speaker 3: Game seven was two days later. They had the extra
- 4:31Speaker 3: day for Game seven. That was a Tuesday night.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Game six was.
- 4:35Speaker 1: In Vancouver on a Saturday night, and Game seven of
- 4:38Speaker 1: Knicks Rockets. I want to say it was on a weekend.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I remember watching John Starks on a.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Weekend game snow Game seven, Game six, Yeah it was
- 4:45Speaker 3: on a Sunday, Yes, right, yes it was on a Sunday.
- 4:48Speaker 1: No, dude, And then check that game.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Let's see the Knicks went back to Houston up three
- 4:55Speaker 2: to two.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yes, they lost two games.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Game seven.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Game six was a Sunday night after the US Open golf,
- 5:03Speaker 3: and Game seven was on Wednesday.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Got it in Houston?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Good job, Well you're sharp.
- 5:09Speaker 1: These These were the years and then obviously during the
- 5:12Speaker 1: San Francisco Giants runs and you know, coming up short
- 5:15Speaker 1: and Barry Bond's killing you and swing the bat, Barry.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I mean, I'm telling you, your stuff is legendary, my friend.
- 5:21Speaker 1: We got my whole crew, we all worship you, and
- 5:23Speaker 1: it's just so cool to have you here to start it.
- 5:26Speaker 1: During the Dan Campbell rint you had which went viral
- 5:29Speaker 1: and was amazing, you referenced the the you know, the
- 5:31Speaker 1: sports geeks whatever, they wouldn't know Lombardi from Paul Brown.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And that's what I take away from this because I
- 5:38Speaker 1: do the Good Morning Football Today, I did a six
- 5:40Speaker 1: minute segment on Derek Thomas and how number fifty eight
- 5:44Speaker 1: super Bow fifty eight. He died twenty four years ago today,
- 5:47Speaker 1: Oh didn't how It's yeah, it's crazy that Derek Thomas
- 5:51Speaker 1: isn't alive to see this, because when I think about
- 5:53Speaker 1: the chiefs of that era, there was Marty Schottenheimer and
- 5:55Speaker 1: Derek Thomas and Neil Smith and Deron Cherry and Albert Lewis,
- 5:58Speaker 1: and they would come up short. And I go to
- 6:00Speaker 1: this because is there a place for the sports historian
- 6:03Speaker 1: and the guys like you and me who like you
- 6:05Speaker 1: referenced reference to Otto Graham a couple months ago, and
- 6:08Speaker 1: people like made fun of you online. I'm like, are
- 6:10Speaker 1: you serious? Like, of course, outo Graham, that's it. But
- 6:12Speaker 1: I find myself speaking into a wind tunnel sometimes when
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm referencing Sonny Jurgensen.
- 6:17Speaker 2: One hundred percent, right, Peter. I think that's been a
- 6:19Speaker 2: lost start.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I think it'll remember it's also thirty forty years ago.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Whether they were talking, you know, nineteen seventy sports talk
- 6:26Speaker 3: where they're talking about Garrick and DiMaggio, who knows, But
- 6:30Speaker 3: it is a low start. The historical knowledge of the
- 6:34Speaker 3: young podcaster, sports talk show host media personality is a disaster.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I don't know how you're going to solve that.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You know when and I love Olasky, but Dan o'loski,
- 6:47Speaker 3: who I love, good guy despite me. I comment this
- 6:50Speaker 3: week when he didn't put Joe Montana his top five
- 6:53Speaker 3: of all time quarterbacks, I mean, come on, I mean
- 6:55Speaker 3: he's five and four and owen super Bowls, three MVPs,
- 6:58Speaker 3: eleven touchdowns and no interceptions. And even that's not that
- 7:01Speaker 3: long ago. It's in the early eighties. So if you
- 7:04Speaker 3: if that is too long for the young guys, and
- 7:07Speaker 3: how the hell is I know Graham going to be
- 7:08Speaker 3: in there, who was in ten straight championship games between
- 7:12Speaker 3: nineteen forty five and nineteen fifty five, So it's a
- 7:15Speaker 3: lost start. I don't care if they, I don't care
- 7:17Speaker 3: what the young fan thinks. I'm going to bring that
- 7:20Speaker 3: up constantly. When somebody dies. They always call me that
- 7:23Speaker 3: I do great with dead guys, with old guys who
- 7:26Speaker 3: dropped dead, because I always put Ernie your corsion or
- 7:28Speaker 3: somebody like that.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I always do that. I do it for all the sports.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I specifically do it for football with Ernie, but I
- 7:35Speaker 3: do with baseball too, and I you know, it's my childhood.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And since my childhood in sports is significant, you know
- 7:43Speaker 3: when I was eleven your age, when you were listening
- 7:45Speaker 3: to Mike and myself. If it means something to me,
- 7:48Speaker 3: I'm going to do it. And that's why there is
- 7:49Speaker 3: to it. And since I'm sixty three going on sixty
- 7:52Speaker 3: four years of age, you know, and still doing this.
- 7:56Speaker 3: If somebody died who I fifty years ago loved and
- 7:59Speaker 3: now he's dead, I'm going to talk about it. And
- 8:02Speaker 3: if you don't like it, all right, I'll live with it.
- 8:04Speaker 3: But the key to it is, if you're a talk
- 8:06Speaker 3: show host, sell it. If it means something to you
- 8:10Speaker 3: as a fan and you're emotional about it and I'm
- 8:14Speaker 3: passionate about it, you can convince the audience that it
- 8:18Speaker 3: means something to them.
- 8:19Speaker 2: So that's that's my approach.
- 8:21Speaker 3: So if it means something that Christopher Russo when you
- 8:24Speaker 3: know Jim Brown dies, well then you know, God done it.
- 8:27Speaker 3: If it means something to me, I'm going to tell
- 8:28Speaker 3: you about it, and my enthusiasm will hopefully convince you
- 8:32Speaker 3: that should be mentioned and it will mean something to you.
- 8:34Speaker 1: That's the first. That's great. There's a great author, Michael McCambridge,
- 8:38Speaker 1: who I'm sure you love him. He's incredible out of
- 8:40Speaker 1: Saint Louis. He just wrote a book called The Big
- 8:43Speaker 1: Time and it's all about seventies sports and it goes
- 8:47Speaker 1: through free agency in the NFL, and it goes through
- 8:50Speaker 1: you know, everything from doctor j having to have to
- 8:53Speaker 1: be sold off, from the from the New York Nets
- 8:55Speaker 1: when they become the New Jersey, all this stuff, and
- 8:57Speaker 1: it's so interesting and I want to share it with people,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and it's like, I don't know if there's an audience
- 9:01Speaker 1: anymore if anyone gives it about what the world tennis
- 9:04Speaker 1: ascaw good point.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I did McCambridge twice in the last six months. I
- 9:08Speaker 3: did not read the original book that he did, The League,
- 9:12Speaker 3: which came out and oh two, which is like a
- 9:14Speaker 3: tremendous book, and I got a hold of that and
- 9:18Speaker 3: for some reason I didn't read it at the time.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So I put him on last summer for an hour.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And then this book came out in October, the seventies book,
- 9:27Speaker 3: and I put him on again for an hour. So
- 9:29Speaker 3: in the last six months I've had him on for
- 9:30Speaker 3: an hour apiece. That's another thing, Peter that people find
- 9:34Speaker 3: with me. I will always do book authors, and when
- 9:38Speaker 3: I put a book, I'll put.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Him on for sixty minutes.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I think you had said this anachro biographer early this
- 9:44Speaker 1: early this week, which I love. We're in Vegas. I
- 9:46Speaker 1: would love to hear it.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I did thirty minutes on that. Now.
- 9:48Speaker 3: That one was a little shorter because I'm at Vegas,
- 9:51Speaker 3: I was Super Bowl. I only did that one for
- 9:53Speaker 3: thirty minutes. But most authors of books, I will do
- 9:57Speaker 3: an hour. Because the guy sold this book, he wrote
- 10:00Speaker 3: a book I enjoyed it, and I want to make
- 10:02Speaker 3: sure he sells as many copies as he possibly can.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'll tell you one.
- 10:06Speaker 3: A few years ago, I ran into a Shid Luckman
- 10:10Speaker 3: book on the Bears.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Would love to read that.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I don't know where I found it. I got it,
- 10:14Speaker 3: and somebody I found it read it. I loved the book.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I put The Guy on the Air. Book came out
- 10:19Speaker 3: about ten years ago. I put The Guy on the
- 10:21Speaker 3: air on a Friday for an hour. He the you
- 10:24Speaker 3: do on Amazon that hour, the book like jumped three
- 10:27Speaker 3: thousand spots, and he emailed Eddie Erkson, our producer, to say,
- 10:32Speaker 3: Holy thank he Chris, thank you for all many books
- 10:35Speaker 3: I've sold in the last hour. I don't care. My
- 10:38Speaker 3: job is to sell the guy Is book. If I
- 10:40Speaker 3: like the book. If I like the book, you should
- 10:42Speaker 3: like the book too. And so I like to give
- 10:44Speaker 3: the author an hour. If it's a book I enjoy, I.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Take pride in it. I've got enough clout on our
- 10:49Speaker 1: morning show Going Morning Football where I can say, hey,
- 10:51Speaker 1: I want to do a segment on this, and they'll
- 10:52Speaker 1: just be like, all right, the Guy of the way.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Now what I have which is incredible and it's underutilized
- 10:56Speaker 1: at the NFL Network and NFL Media, I have access
- 10:58Speaker 1: to the entire NFL Film's vault, so I could call
- 11:01Speaker 1: for I want to see an air Coriel piece that
- 11:04Speaker 1: Steve Sable did in seventy six, can we find some thing?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Or I want to do a piece, you know, so
- 11:08Speaker 1: everyone knows who Bert Bell was, like, can we find that?
- 11:11Speaker 1: And it's again, there's a niche audience that loves it
- 11:14Speaker 1: and appreciates it. I feel like you and I are
- 11:16Speaker 1: kindred spirits. And then I don't know if you have this.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I have the photographic memory where if you mentioned a
- 11:21Speaker 1: Kent Graham Giants game from ninety eight, I could tell
- 11:23Speaker 1: you exactly what happened.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Absolutely and good one.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And it's special to me to do that. And then
- 11:28Speaker 1: this week, going through all these Niners Super Bowls, I
- 11:31Speaker 1: could talk about all these Niners teams because I grew
- 11:33Speaker 1: up with it. And you notice that it might not
- 11:35Speaker 1: be the vocal majority online, but the real fans absolutely
- 11:40Speaker 1: love it and appreciate it.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I did the same thing in the last three weeks.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I watched the two championship games on the NFL Films,
- 11:48Speaker 3: the seventy nine Er Dallas game seventeen ten Keys are
- 11:51Speaker 3: last last game.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Ever played nineteen fifty seven, right.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Well that's seventy okay, so that was the Niner game. Yep.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I watched the fifty seven game too, and then I
- 12:01Speaker 3: watched the seventy one Niner Dallas championship game in Dallas
- 12:06Speaker 3: when Dallas.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Beat him fourteen to three.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Okay, I thought you were talking Lions Lions nine ers
- 12:11Speaker 1: fifty seven because I went back and I watched that
- 12:13Speaker 1: one from fifty seven, and then seventy one I watched
- 12:16Speaker 1: because it was the last time Baltimore hosted an AFC
- 12:18Speaker 1: championship game. I was Oakland, Baltimore, Oakland, which there's like
- 12:22Speaker 1: twenty ho I put twenty put in the game.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I put on two weeks going
- 12:26Speaker 3: to bottomore Oakland game Norman Budash.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Five o'clock for a half hour a lot.
- 12:32Speaker 3: So I will do that as it was the last
- 12:35Speaker 3: AFL championship game. As you said before the game here
- 12:37Speaker 3: against Kansas City for the Ravens, I did the same thing.
- 12:41Speaker 2: So you and I are kindred spirits as far as
- 12:42Speaker 2: the history is concerned.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You also mentioned on a an either podcast or someone
- 12:47Speaker 1: I was listening to an interview. Maybe it was with
- 12:49Speaker 1: Kevin Clark, who I like and I think he's really
- 12:50Speaker 1: good at what he does. He were saying, you don't
- 12:52Speaker 1: do the whole watch the pregame shows. Well, I'm on
- 12:55Speaker 1: the Fox pregame show where we did eleven straight hours. Yes,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'm on the NFL network one this year, which are
- 13:00Speaker 1: doing ten straight hours. You don't watch those? What is
- 13:04Speaker 1: your up? Your thought is just I do this for
- 13:06Speaker 1: a living. I'm good. Let's just get to kick off.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Well, first off, I've also been here for a week,
- 13:10Speaker 3: so I mean I might watch the Sunday game with
- 13:14Speaker 3: the CBS.
- 13:15Speaker 2: They're going to do a history of the citok I watched.
- 13:18Speaker 3: That was about one o'clock. I got.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Mcmanuson today. I'll get some details on that.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I don't watch the pregame at all. I don't want
- 13:30Speaker 3: to go to any party. My kid called me today
- 13:33Speaker 3: from Wisconsin and he said that podcast got some juice
- 13:37Speaker 3: with me, saying, I want to watch the game by
- 13:39Speaker 3: myself with no interruption. I want to sit in my
- 13:42Speaker 3: freaking little room with the door shut, with the game
- 13:46Speaker 3: on around six o'clock and it's the last football game
- 13:49Speaker 3: you're going to watch until September and it's the last time.
- 13:52Speaker 2: You really a guy like me, you have to do
- 13:54Speaker 2: it more than I would. With the draft.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And the free agency in the schedule, I don't do
- 13:59Speaker 3: as much of it as you would do. But once
- 14:01Speaker 3: that game is over on Friday Sunday night, you don't
- 14:04Speaker 3: got a lot to work with with the NFL and
- 14:05Speaker 3: we need so I'll be quiet. As far as the
- 14:08Speaker 3: sports talk is concerned. It gets to be a little
- 14:10Speaker 3: bit of a low. But I will watch the games
- 14:13Speaker 3: by myself, watch the game by myself, nothing fancy, and
- 14:18Speaker 3: I won't sit there and watch three hours of the pregame.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I'll probably put it on around five five point fifteen
- 14:23Speaker 3: and have it on, not watch it, but have it
- 14:26Speaker 3: on at least.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's funny because I sat down with Mahomes for the
- 14:29Speaker 1: NFL Network one. It's a big that's a good one.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Good for you get it's great. I've known him since
- 14:34Speaker 1: he was in college Kingsbury.
- 14:35Speaker 2: That's a great job on your part. Thank good job,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and he's.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Great in it. But to tell you know, twelve hours
- 14:40Speaker 1: of pregame, yeah, I want to. I want that to
- 14:43Speaker 1: be here, to that to be seen. But like how
- 14:44Speaker 1: many times can we talk about the X factor in
- 14:46Speaker 1: the game.
- 14:47Speaker 2: One hundred percent?
- 14:48Speaker 3: But having mahomes that's a great that's a great coup
- 14:51Speaker 3: for you.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I mean I listen. I think getting to Sunday.
- 14:55Speaker 3: At six thirty is very difficult because you know, there's
- 14:59Speaker 3: not a lot on early in the day. There'll be
- 15:00Speaker 3: some NBA or college basketball, but getting this Sunday at
- 15:03Speaker 3: six thirty is a very difficult proper position. It's a
- 15:07Speaker 3: long day in the East before you get to the game,
- 15:10Speaker 3: so that's a problem. You gotta kill the day per se.
- 15:13Speaker 3: But I know on Monday will be easy, Tuesday will
- 15:17Speaker 3: be easy, and then it will be a little slow.
- 15:20Speaker 3: From a sports talk standpoint.
- 15:21Speaker 2: You have to live with it.
- 15:23Speaker 4: We'll do it.
- 15:23Speaker 2: We want that I do.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And we do a little parade talk Wednesday. Who's gonna
- 15:28Speaker 1: be funny on the parade? And we do a little
- 15:30Speaker 1: and it's like, let's get to the end of the week.
- 15:32Speaker 1: For me. You know, I'm on these studio shows. What's
- 15:35Speaker 1: your studio show? Like if you were building it?
- 15:38Speaker 2: I do with this.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I do Bill Simmons' podcast every Friday, and his thing
- 15:41Speaker 1: is there's just too many, like we don't need there's
- 15:46Speaker 1: six guys on there, so give me your dream, make
- 15:50Speaker 1: your dream studio.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Have to people who the people and two people.
- 15:54Speaker 3: You don't need six seven guys, I mean, my god,
- 15:57Speaker 3: is so much. I mean, look at CBS. They got SIMS,
- 16:00Speaker 3: and I have Burlson, and I have James Brown, they
- 16:03Speaker 3: have Coward they're gonna put obviously.
- 16:07Speaker 2: JJ Watt Boomer.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I mean he got six guys. Oh my god, I
- 16:11Speaker 3: don't need six guys talk to me about this game.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Couple of guys enough, Oh Drives, You're crazy. And that's
- 16:18Speaker 3: one of the reasons why I tune out. I can't
- 16:20Speaker 3: deal with six guys talking about the same game for
- 16:23Speaker 3: four and a half five hours.
- 16:24Speaker 2: It's way, way, way too much.
- 16:26Speaker 3: And I'd say it pet peeve of mine and I
- 16:29Speaker 3: do it all the time with the postgame, and it's
- 16:32Speaker 3: the network NFI network, and it's also ESPN, and ESPN
- 16:36Speaker 3: did this after the Lions game. They went to Campbell
- 16:40Speaker 3: and they cut out before Campbell talked about the missfield.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Why do you go for the field goals?
- 16:47Speaker 5: Now?
- 16:47Speaker 3: Hold on, hold on, hold on, that's what America wants
- 16:51Speaker 3: to know right now. Why did he opt not to
- 16:54Speaker 3: kick two field goals in the second half on fourth down,
- 16:57Speaker 3: and they did not go to the SoundBite of him
- 16:59Speaker 3: answering that question and when they losing coach, especially when
- 17:04Speaker 3: he gets to that microphone after the game Sunday.
- 17:07Speaker 2: I want to hear the press conference. Okay, I don't.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Need to see Steve Young or anybody else babbling about it.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Booger. I love the guys.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I want to see the freaking press conference that goes
- 17:17Speaker 3: for you too. About network, I get it, Show me
- 17:20Speaker 3: the people on the press conference, the losing coach.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I want to hear the questions.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I want to hear ten straight minutes of it, and
- 17:26Speaker 3: they refuse to give it to you, and it drives
- 17:28Speaker 3: me absolutely. That's not having a feel of the American
- 17:33Speaker 3: football fan in that scenario. Losing coach off every big
- 17:38Speaker 3: event as a fan is essential, and too many producers
- 17:42Speaker 3: don't understand that, and they cut out of it before
- 17:45Speaker 3: you get.
- 17:45Speaker 2: The gist of what the losing coach has to say.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I think one of the coolest things of the NFC
- 17:51Speaker 1: AFC Championship games and the Super Bowl is that a
- 17:54Speaker 1: lot of times on camera and sometimes I remember it
- 17:56Speaker 1: was Aaron Andrews A couple times and it was Chris
- 18:00Speaker 1: Meyers one time that I gotta think Wolfson does the winner,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and then Evan Washburn I guess on Steia. I like
- 18:06Speaker 1: when they interview the losing coach in the locker room
- 18:08Speaker 1: right after the game, and you've got the that's a good,
- 18:10Speaker 1: that's good, but again not as promoted as often as Hey,
- 18:14Speaker 1: after this, we're gonna get back to the guys in
- 18:16Speaker 1: the studio. They're gonna break down the game.
- 18:19Speaker 3: And there's too many examples where the questions in that
- 18:22Speaker 3: spot they're generic.
- 18:25Speaker 2: If somebody blows the game, I got to hear it.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Get specific.
- 18:28Speaker 3: They're afraid of getting them aggravated and everything else. Get specific.
- 18:32Speaker 3: And I know it's a difficult job. You got somebody
- 18:34Speaker 3: in your headset job and you're crazy, but you know,
- 18:38Speaker 3: for instance, when Mahomes beat the Bills, yep okay had
- 18:44Speaker 3: him on the field.
- 18:46Speaker 2: The first thing they asked, well, how about Baltimore? Even
- 18:49Speaker 2: the second game.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I don't want to hear about the ravens now I know, Sibby,
- 18:55Speaker 3: I'm not interested talk about the first pass in the
- 18:58Speaker 3: third quarter when Scottling made a big catch on the
- 19:00Speaker 3: right sideline.
- 19:01Speaker 1: First time in the season. He had two catches for
- 19:03Speaker 1: more than thirty yards and heldus Scanley, who mahomes his
- 19:06Speaker 1: public supported throughout Like that's a cool story.
- 19:08Speaker 3: It's a good one, you know, talk about the idea
- 19:10Speaker 3: you want a road game in Buffalo, the fact that
- 19:12Speaker 3: you heard that you couldn't win, and there's not enough
- 19:15Speaker 3: of that going on, and it drives me absolutely crazy.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And boy, what a bet I had.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I had scolding on the over of sixteen and a
- 19:23Speaker 3: half yards against the Ravens.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Last played a game again.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Till the game that's a great one. Uh, you know
- 19:31Speaker 1: it's the sideliner for all that stuff? Is it the
- 19:33Speaker 1: game of itself? Now? I love Monday mornings during the
- 19:38Speaker 1: football season because I know that at seven am Eastern
- 19:41Speaker 1: there there might not be the same amount people watching
- 19:45Speaker 1: want to give content what I have to say, and
- 19:48Speaker 1: people want to hear what I when you when you
- 19:52Speaker 1: have to write that monologue Monday after Super Bowl, super
- 19:57Speaker 1: Bowl Sunday or not right, but do that at one
- 19:59Speaker 1: o'clock or whenever the radio show starts. And I go
- 20:01Speaker 1: back to when you guys used to recap sopranos back
- 20:03Speaker 1: at Mike and the Mad Dog. Is that your favorite
- 20:06Speaker 1: moment that you when you first given the.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Monologue after a big game. There's nothing better. Now listen, A.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Mannequin could have done it. But Campbell is a perfect example.
- 20:21Speaker 3: They played the game Sunday night. It's it's over ten thirty,
- 20:26Speaker 3: and I'm on the next day at three. I don't
- 20:28Speaker 3: listen to any other shows. I want to make sure
- 20:32Speaker 3: I'm not swayed, so when I go in here, you'll
- 20:34Speaker 3: block it all out. I don't follow. I mean, I
- 20:37Speaker 3: watched the postgame the night before, but the morning off,
- 20:40Speaker 3: I don't watch much. But one Sunday at three Monday
- 20:43Speaker 3: at three o'clock rolls around days a perfect example. I'm
- 20:46Speaker 3: gonna go twenty minutes and I'm going to kill in
- 20:50Speaker 3: this case Campbell, which is to me an absolute lamp.
- 20:53Speaker 3: And I don't rehearse it. I have it in my
- 20:56Speaker 3: head what I'm gonna say, but I don't rehearse it.
- 20:59Speaker 3: I just let it flow. And that is the perfect
- 21:02Speaker 3: storm of a big game, controversy, terrible loss, and a
- 21:08Speaker 3: night game the night before.
- 21:10Speaker 2: You're on.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Now, if that game Saturday, you can't do as much
- 21:13Speaker 3: on it because you've got a day in between.
- 21:15Speaker 2: So you need this Sunday.
- 21:16Speaker 3: But That is an absolute perfect storm for a talk
- 21:20Speaker 3: show host like me. It's simple, and I'm good at
- 21:23Speaker 3: the rants. I can talk forever. I don't have to
- 21:25Speaker 3: rely on a lot of calls early now. For instance,
- 21:28Speaker 3: on Monday, if I have a Shanahan screw up, or
- 21:31Speaker 3: if I have a terrible conclusion of the game, that's
- 21:33Speaker 3: an easy layup to.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Get to the show.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I'll do it at three, I'll do it again at five.
- 21:39Speaker 3: I'd probably have something to work with on Tuesday. So
- 21:42Speaker 3: I'll have this game. If it's got a good conclusion
- 21:46Speaker 3: with some drama, it will get two or three days
- 21:49Speaker 3: out of it. And that's what I need for next week.
- 21:51Speaker 2: On the show.
- 21:52Speaker 1: We'll wrap with this. You and I might be the
- 21:55Speaker 1: biggest tennis fans in mainstream media as far as just
- 21:58Speaker 1: openly say how much we love the racket sports. I
- 22:00Speaker 1: don't do pick a ball. I don't know if you do.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But I've recently becovered I've discovered adell. Have you heard
- 22:06Speaker 1: of now? It's unbelievable.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Where I live, where I play my tennis in Fairfield County, Connecticut,
- 22:15Speaker 3: we just put a padel court in.
- 22:19Speaker 2: There's only two in Connecticut.
- 22:20Speaker 3: There's one in Norwalk and one in New Canaan, and
- 22:22Speaker 3: we put a padel court in. Now I don't play it,
- 22:25Speaker 3: but all my buddies this last pass to the summer
- 22:29Speaker 3: loved it and played it.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I tried it. I still love the tennis more.
- 22:35Speaker 3: But all my buddies in September did not want to
- 22:37Speaker 3: play tennis doubles. They wanted to play padel So I'm
- 22:41Speaker 3: very familiar with it, much more than picketball they wanted
- 22:44Speaker 3: to play.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Now.
- 22:45Speaker 2: They play the paddle. They play a lot of that
- 22:47Speaker 2: in the winter, but they love the padell.
- 22:49Speaker 3: We only have the one court and getting a court
- 22:51Speaker 3: reserving it was very difficult.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Did I ever convince you to come out with me
- 22:56Speaker 1: and my buddies here I'm in Brooklyn, New York.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Yes, to play tennis in the city, absolutely absolutely.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I have not played a lot in the winter yet.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I play a lot. Once April comes, I'll play four
- 23:08Speaker 2: tames a week.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I'll play a lot of tennis. Uh, yes, absolutely, I
- 23:13Speaker 3: can definitely do that. I'll come down and you know,
- 23:15Speaker 3: maybe on a first take day come over.
- 23:17Speaker 1: And yeah, great, I'm not gonna waste any more of
- 23:21Speaker 1: your time. I could literally do this for three hours
- 23:23Speaker 1: and uh if then when you want to give me
- 23:25Speaker 1: a show on.
- 23:25Speaker 2: You you got him a great job. You do a
- 23:27Speaker 2: wonderful job.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I go to Connecticut Muffin and U Canaan every day
- 23:31Speaker 3: and they have the NFL network on there every day,
- 23:34Speaker 3: and I'm in there at about six seven o'clock.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I watch you all the time.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Love this. I so appreciate you. Thanks for all you doing.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Don't let jj Redick was a freaking They're gonna make Medeck.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I think they make Weddeck the replacing doc. Look for that.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I think he's good on the games. He's very good
- 23:52Speaker 1: on the games, very serious in the studio, and you
- 23:54Speaker 1: and him are a good counterbalance to each other.
- 23:56Speaker 2: We have fun with them. We have fun. Good job, Pete,
- 23:59Speaker 2: you got the man.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Thank you, Chris, You're the best.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Mad Dog Russo Aaron wan Kaufman my producer here on here.
- 24:30Speaker 1: You could tell I was fanboying man out. I think
- 24:32Speaker 1: I pitched myself for a show on his network six
- 24:34Speaker 1: different times.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 5: I don't know if I've ever heard you say kindred spirits,
- 24:39Speaker 5: and I don't think i've ever heard you say it
- 24:41Speaker 5: three times four times? You but you you like clearly
- 24:46Speaker 5: I mean, I have always known that you love the
- 24:48Speaker 5: history of the game, and you have this recollection of
- 24:51Speaker 5: stats and previous games, and that was like watching.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I mean that, I mean, I don't know.
- 24:59Speaker 5: That was like some young quarterback getting to work out
- 25:02Speaker 5: with my homes and being like, wait, yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Dude, he's referencing y He's referencing Keysar Stadium, and I'm
- 25:08Speaker 1: trying to one up him. But I'm like, he's like,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I's talk about fifty seven fifty seven keys Our stadium.
- 25:12Speaker 1: That's That's what I'm talking about.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Now.
- 25:14Speaker 1: He's great, and I love how he just he's got
- 25:16Speaker 1: he's got. He's got that. I don't give a leap
- 25:19Speaker 1: where he's like the CBS pregame show, you know, it
- 25:23Speaker 1: doesn't do it for me, and he just like goes
- 25:24Speaker 1: off and You're like, I would never do that because
- 25:27Speaker 1: those are like, you know, who knows I might be
- 25:29Speaker 1: working with those guys, right. He doesn't care. He's like,
- 25:31Speaker 1: I'm mad dog, I'm in my sixties. I'm gonna say
- 25:33Speaker 1: what I say. Uh gosh. She was great and I
- 25:36Speaker 1: so appreciate his place in the sports media landscape. That said,
- 25:42Speaker 1: it is time to unveil my official Super Bowl prediction.
- 25:46Speaker 1: If you listen to this podcast or you watch me
- 25:48Speaker 1: on TV, you know I've had a bit of good
- 25:51Speaker 1: fortune with these picks over the years. We went back
- 25:53Speaker 1: in the tapes, it's not five years straight that that
- 25:55Speaker 1: was a that was an outright mistake. Truth is, I've
- 25:58Speaker 1: either picked the right Super Bowl matchup or the winner
- 26:03Speaker 1: in the last four Super Bowls. And in this years instance,
- 26:07Speaker 1: I actually before the season picked the Chiefs and the
- 26:11Speaker 1: forty nine Ers to square off. And I'll tell you
- 26:14Speaker 1: I had the Rams winning the Super Bowl. I had
- 26:16Speaker 1: the Rams being the Chiefs. The Rams actually beat the Bengals.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I had the Chiefs winning last year, and I said
- 26:22Speaker 1: very specifically that Nick Bolton was going to have the
- 26:25Speaker 1: game winning touchdown or the game winning play, which he did,
- 26:29Speaker 1: and I said they were going to beat the Packers.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Packers didn't even make the playoffs last year. They actually
- 26:33Speaker 1: ended up beating the Eagles, so I didn't even have
- 26:35Speaker 1: going to the tournament before the season started. But this
- 26:39Speaker 1: year I've been spot on, and this year I have
- 26:41Speaker 1: a flawless record with every single playoff game except one.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I had the Cowboys beating the Packers in the wild
- 26:50Speaker 1: or in the Divisional round. That is the only was
- 26:53Speaker 1: that Wildcar round or division that was the Wildcar round? Right?
- 26:55Speaker 1: It was Wildcar Round. That's the only game I've gotten wrong,
- 26:57Speaker 1: I think as far as the playoffs, and no, I
- 26:59Speaker 1: might have had another one. Oh I had the Browns.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I had the Browns beating the Texans them. So I'm
- 27:04Speaker 1: sitting pretty I wawless divisional round picks, wawless Championship round picks.
- 27:10Speaker 1: And before the season. Let's go to what we did
- 27:13Speaker 1: on the podcast. Let me toss to the clip. Here's
- 27:15Speaker 1: what we said on September seventh, before kickoff on how
- 27:18Speaker 1: I thought this season Super Bowl matchup would go. My
- 27:22Speaker 1: winners from the NFC, the San Francisco forty nine ers.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I think they play a punishing brand of football that
- 27:29Speaker 1: is with Nick Bosa or without. I think their defense
- 27:33Speaker 1: always sets the standard. And as much as I love
- 27:35Speaker 1: Demko Ryans, I don't think they missed that much of
- 27:37Speaker 1: a beat without him. They keep ongoing. They've got young
- 27:41Speaker 1: talent at every position there and then on offense, Kyle
- 27:43Speaker 1: Shanahan is a mad genius. I think he finally has
- 27:45Speaker 1: a quarterback that can operate his offense that he believes
- 27:48Speaker 1: he could put in trust and really get them over
- 27:51Speaker 1: the hump. He's a former mister Irrelevant and that is okay.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I've got McCaffrey as my MVP. I think Deebo has
- 27:57Speaker 1: a big year. I think Ayuk is a big year.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I think Trent Williams might going out on a swan
- 28:01Speaker 1: song here in his last couple of seasons, but I
- 28:03Speaker 1: think he's still the best tackle in the league. I'm
- 28:06Speaker 1: going with the San Francisco forty nine ers as my
- 28:09Speaker 1: team out of the NFC. As for the AFC, really
- 28:15Speaker 1: really struggled with this. Yeah, I can't pick against the Chiefs.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I don't care if Chris Jones is there. I don't
- 28:22Speaker 1: care if Tyreek Hill's not there. I don't care if
- 28:25Speaker 1: any of those guys aren't there. I can't pick against
- 28:27Speaker 1: the Chiefs. The Chiefs have been the standard and last
- 28:30Speaker 1: year was a great lesson. I stuck with them. I
- 28:33Speaker 1: picked them the wins Super Bowl despite losing Tyreek Hill.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I think I might have been in an island on that,
- 28:36Speaker 1: and that sounds wild considering how much success they have.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I will not pick against Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelcey
- 28:42Speaker 1: until I am forced to and I am not forced
- 28:44Speaker 1: to pick against them. They are still at the peak
- 28:46Speaker 1: of their game. I had a chance to spend time
- 28:48Speaker 1: with them this offseason at that big Slick Charity Classic,
- 28:51Speaker 1: and I was hanging with them, and I swear to god,
- 28:53Speaker 1: I left that thing being like, those guys are great.
- 28:55Speaker 1: And then I talked to us some people around the
- 28:57Speaker 1: league and I'm like, I don't know. They seem like
- 28:58Speaker 1: we haveing a little towo good of a time this
- 28:59Speaker 1: offseason with the golf and this, and there are concerts
- 29:02Speaker 1: and it's like Mahomes and Kelsey are everywhere in the
- 29:04Speaker 1: podcast and start turning away and then you're like, holy crap,
- 29:08Speaker 1: they're just so good. I am going with the Chiefs.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I don't know how they get there. I don't know
- 29:12Speaker 1: if it's through a one seed and they host all
- 29:14Speaker 1: these games at Arrowhead. I don't know if they've got
- 29:16Speaker 1: to go on the road. But like I said, it's
- 29:20Speaker 1: one of those deals, my eyes will not deceive me.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And if there's a fourth quarter and Patrick Mahomes needs
- 29:24Speaker 1: to get it done in a big spot, he has
- 29:25Speaker 1: gotten it done every single time. I'm going with Kansas City. Now,
- 29:28Speaker 1: this was a super Bowl, A few years back in Miami.
- 29:31Speaker 1: We go from one party city to the next. We
- 29:33Speaker 1: go to Vegas. Forty nine Ers versus Chiefs, the Super
- 29:38Speaker 1: Bowl Champions for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on CBS.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Drum roll please, Aaron. The Kansas City Chiefs will be
- 29:48Speaker 1: your first back to back Super Bowl champion winners since
- 29:51Speaker 1: the New England Patriots did it in two thousand and
- 29:53Speaker 1: three and two thousand and four. I am going with
- 29:55Speaker 1: the Chiefs. I love what they are all about. I
- 29:59Speaker 1: love that people are doubting them, and I love the
- 30:01Speaker 1: fact that Mahomes and Kelsey are ready to go. Back
- 30:06Speaker 1: on September seventh, here we are as we head towards
- 30:09Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, less than forty eight hours away, and
- 30:11Speaker 1: here's how I see it going down. I do still
- 30:14Speaker 1: think it's going to be a shootout. I know that
- 30:16Speaker 1: sounds crazy. Spags's defense has been so dialed in, but
- 30:19Speaker 1: you give Kyle Shanahan two weeks to prepare, you better
- 30:23Speaker 1: believe you're getting the best at Christian McCaffrey, Deebo, Samuel
- 30:26Speaker 1: George Kittle, Kyle Yuschek, and then the sunsung hero of
- 30:29Speaker 1: this team, Brandon Ayuk, who has become an incredible wide receiver.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I think you will see a couple plays to a
- 30:34Speaker 1: guy they called third and Juwan. That's Juwan Johnson. I
- 30:37Speaker 1: think he make a couple of big plays. I also
- 30:39Speaker 1: think that offensive line is healthy. I think Trent Williams
- 30:42Speaker 1: has been outstanding these playoffs. This team is going to
- 30:46Speaker 1: move the ball on spags and that's something that the
- 30:50Speaker 1: Baltimore Ravens could not do. It is something that the
- 30:52Speaker 1: Miami Dolphins absolutely could not do. But I have full
- 30:55Speaker 1: confidence that Kyle Shanahan will dial it up in a
- 30:57Speaker 1: million ways, and between he and Clint Kubiak and Brian
- 31:00Speaker 1: Greci and the rest of those offensive coaches, they will
- 31:03Speaker 1: put up points. I don't know if we see Cadarius Tony.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I think he had one of the greatest out of
- 31:11Speaker 1: nowhere performances in the Super Bowl last year with the
- 31:13Speaker 1: big punt return and the touchdown. But I don't know
- 31:15Speaker 1: if he plays in this one, as he has been
- 31:18Speaker 1: not on the field throughout the playoffs. But if he's
- 31:20Speaker 1: out there, I'd watch for him to have a couple
- 31:22Speaker 1: of cool gadget plays. Truth of the matter is, Chaeco
- 31:25Speaker 1: has been as good a running back in the NFL
- 31:27Speaker 1: as anyone not named mccaff free in the last sex
- 31:31Speaker 1: six weeks of the season. He is reliable. He killed
- 31:35Speaker 1: the Ravens and he killed the Dolphins a couple weeks earlier.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I think Pachaco eats. I think this game goes back
- 31:40Speaker 1: and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Now, the
- 31:42Speaker 1: tragedy of it all is that you know who I'm picking.
- 31:44Speaker 1: I'm picking the Kansas City Chiefs. The tragedy is this
- 31:49Speaker 1: let to be one of the great great Super Bowls.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I really do think so shootout the whole deal. I
- 31:53Speaker 1: think it's gonna be like twenty one to twenty one
- 31:57Speaker 1: or twenty four to twenty one heading into the fourth quarter,
- 32:01Speaker 1: and I think that the Niners are going to have
- 32:03Speaker 1: a lead. The Niners are going to have a lead
- 32:05Speaker 1: at say twenty eight to twenty seven, and it's going
- 32:08Speaker 1: to be one of these deals where they're up, they're
- 32:10Speaker 1: holding on. And I do think that it is going
- 32:15Speaker 1: to be a Trent McDuffie, he's six in the fourth
- 32:19Speaker 1: quarter at will ins the game of the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 32:23Speaker 1: and I do think that the Kansa City Chiefs defense
- 32:25Speaker 1: slams the door one more time so I've got to
- 32:28Speaker 1: go in this way, thirty four to twenty eight. Thirty
- 32:33Speaker 1: four to twenty eight. Now, I got that figure out
- 32:37Speaker 1: how how that scoring works, because if they're down a point,
- 32:40Speaker 1: they wouldn't kick an extra point, they would go for two.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Whatever it is, I'm going with thirty four to twenty eight,
- 32:45Speaker 1: and I cannot say it enough. Trent McDuffie. Trent McDuffie,
- 32:49Speaker 1: Trent McDuffie. Now, Aaron, here's the issue. Trent McDuffie has
- 32:52Speaker 1: never had an interception in the NFL, never, and yet
- 32:56Speaker 1: I think in the Super Bowl he saves the best
- 32:57Speaker 1: for the last. He's one of the most physical corners
- 32:59Speaker 1: in the league. He and Steed have been great all season.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I see an interception, Bang, bang, Niner Gang. I love it.
- 33:06Speaker 1: The Niners have done this season. I picked them to
- 33:08Speaker 1: win the NFC. They have done that. It's an amazing story.
- 33:11Speaker 1: And yet at the end of the day, I think
- 33:13Speaker 1: it's Kelsey, I think it's Mahomes, I think it's Reed,
- 33:15Speaker 1: I think it's Spagnolo, I think it's stone cold Chris Jones.
- 33:19Speaker 1: And I think it's those guys winning another Super Bowl,
- 33:21Speaker 1: the first back to back Super Bowl winners since two
- 33:25Speaker 1: thousand and four, when the Patriots won back to back
- 33:28Speaker 1: Super Bowls, beating the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles
- 33:32Speaker 1: in consecutive years. Mahomes majestic again. He will be your MVP,
- 33:36Speaker 1: but Trent McDuffie will make the play. On that note,
- 33:41Speaker 1: I signed off. I will see you guys next week.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Will recap the Super Bowl. This is Peter Schreger. This
- 33:47Speaker 1: is the Season with Peter Schreger. This is the Trent
- 33:49Speaker 1: McDuffie pick six that we will be talking about for
- 33:52Speaker 1: the rest of time. Enjoy your super Bowl weekend, ever, everybody,
- 33:56Speaker 1: thank you for Elisabeth. The Season with Peter Schrager is
