Latest / The MMQB NFL Podcast / Sheduer Sanders Is Starting (Oh, and Joe Burrow Is Back)
Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, welcome to MMTZ NFL podcast, that's Albert Brear.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Conor and you can tell, just haven't been sleeping very, very much on alert ever since we found out that Chitter Sanders is starting a football game and when something of this magnitude happens Albert, it's very similar I would imagine to the Pentagon moments before
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: or at like a a major bank before some sort of great depression.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: And so everyone's in the battle stations.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Have you got to take the laptop this week?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: Haven't left our laptops.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: I have not sent my family in 48 hours because we are preparing as hard as we can.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for the day for surprise.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm surprised.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm surprised that they didn't.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's got to be some sort of loophole where they could emergency flex this in the Sunday football, right?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would imagine that the commissioner and all of the broadcast partners are currently working on this Tony Romo has been kidnapped so that he can't call the game and
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: and ruin it for everybody, just kidding.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that will get to that.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just, I'm alerting all of you.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: If you have not heard this, shelter in place, make sure that you have enough food and water and emergency supplies for the next few days, because if you enjoy takes,
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: And if you enjoy analysts twisting themselves into pretzels, to talk about something that no one gives a shit about, uh, this is a, uh, this is a big week.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, I just idea at the top, like, but before we went on here, like, this is moved from annoyance, like my annoyance of this storyline.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because I have to keep saying the same thing over and over again, to now enjoy him it like I'm enjoying the reactions like I was a kid in the candy store in Sunday night on Twitter just seeing the whole world explode.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, um, over he looks like everybody thought he was going to look like all the team is felt like he looked this is why he let me tell to the fifth round versus some sort of weird litigation over practice reps which I don't know if I've ever had this and we ever.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like done that before like this might be a first and sports media litigating practice for apps like this so for those of you who don't know they're started a I mean, it's a rich argument between many people who have played football and This is like and and I'm not I'm just just like when people like us need to just take a step back You know, I mean like okay like but I Yeah
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: But the wild part is there's people on who have played football on both sides of this archives of this and to me it's analogous to and and this this isn't a politics podcast but it's it's political at this point like there are people that are just decidedly pro-shadore and decidedly anti-shadore and he's this kind of monolith of an entertainment
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I would say, you know, you didn't back in the day you'd send this to Ruth a bit of games for a great least someone I would I think I've cracked the code though right so we've got the players that's are.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like he should be getting more reps and then employers that are like, no, this is normal right I think I've cracked the code okay, okay, let me just before you say this I just want to finish into so the argument for those who haven't seen it or not as chronically online.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: and probably way healthier than Albert and I, is that Shidorah Sanders did not succeed because he did not get starting snaps going into the week.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mind you, Shidorah Sanders is a backup quarterback and backup quarterbacks don't get foreseeable reps.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: This thing's gotten to the point now where I had to do the, like, I went through my mental role, I'd actually try to take myself back to like 1996 and 1997.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: the Lincoln Sudbury Warriors and like how often do you remember your coach randomly throwing backups into a practice whether you are sophomore a junior a senior whether you are starter or a backup because that's all experience a lot of us have had you know what I mean on both sides that fence and so how often was it that you would
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: randomly, like the coach would randomly throw the second, but what I remember was we would have a first team offense, a second team offense, a scout team defense, first team takes a rep, they run the play, second team comes in, runs the same play, then we go back and forth.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so the backups aren't getting starter reps, they're running the offense, but they're not getting the starter reps anyway.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: So like I think like anybody looks, like if you think about your own history playing sports,
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, yes, not that common that a backup, which is randomly get a rep with a starter.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: When that just wouldn't happen, you know?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I think I've cracked the code here, though, because I was listening to my buddy Ryan Mercedes podcast this morning, and Willie Colone was on there, right?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so Willie Colone fell down on the side of like, oh, yeah, we got Charlie Batch ready to play behind Ben Rothlissberger, right?
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then I had, I was on a radio show this morning and Brady Quinn and Levar Aaron 10.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was Brady brought this up to me.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was Jonas Knox.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: One of those guys brought it up to me that Jeff Saturday had said the same thing, right?
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Jeff Saturday and Willy Klon, where do they have in common offensive line most well, but most of their careers were played prior to 2011 right, which is when the rules change I guess.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, and so the rules change where people who don't know this the rules became far more restrictive as far as how much you can practice what you can do in practice like in the NFL PA monitors this stuff very closely.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so starting in 11, the rules became far stricter and those reps because there are less of them became more valuable.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think like what's happened over the course of the last 15 years is those reps have increasingly become like no we only have time to get the starters ready sorry like that's just the reality of it you know what I mean like and if we're going to have a competent offense defense and that's like even going back to the effective like having less being able to do less in training camp and the spring all of that so every rep that you have in practice
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's more valuable now, and you're more apt to give that rep to a guy who's actually going to play on Sunday.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's where the disagreement is.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think what you have to realize about this is, Dylan Gabriel's a rookie too.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Need it all the work that he hears.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: be ready to go, you know, and like the Jerry judies and saidric tellman and davon jokus, like all of those guys, they need the reps with Gabriel also.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because they haven't had those reps.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: So like the idea that this is some sort of like massive injustice or there's some sort of conspiracy theory out there that's
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: like sabotaging Shedur Sanders ability to develop at the quarterback position is ass tonight.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I will give you an example of this that I think is the best example and that's Patrick Mahomes.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, Patrick Mahomes in 2017.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: basically got zero starter reps. Once the season started, just the way it was, right?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe one or two here in there, but for the most part, no practice, no, no, no starter up.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: So what he was doing was during the week, he would be running the scout team.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're playing the Chargers this week, you're running the Chargers offensive, you're right.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Raiders this week, you are in the Raiders' office, and quarterbacks will tell you there is value in that too.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then you sort of like learn the speed of the game and your playing gets a starting defense and all of that different stuff, right?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I remember talking to the coaches who are there in 18.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: So this was when he actually started playing.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: And they told me what he would do during his rookie year, which was he would take the practice squad guys after practice on his own and run back through the practice script with them.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: because he wasn't getting first team reps.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: So he didn't get a chance to run the chief soft ends.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: He was running the other, the opponents often.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: So he and this is like one of the things that's really special about Pat, right?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Is grew up in a clubhouse with his dad and all of that.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: So he understands the dynamics of a locker room.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: He would never ask, never even ask, a Tyrekill or Sammy Watkins or Travis Kelsey to come work with them because those were Alex's guys.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the starters guys.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to create division here, but I need to get the work in.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to take the practice squad guys and we're all going to get our work in together.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: And that sort of thing is common in the NFL now.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: And it's become more common because it's hard to get those reps because there's just aren't enough to go around.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: like that's sort of context.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: It just took me two minutes to explain that, right?
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't fit into like a television segment to explain that and people's eyes glaze over when they have to hear it because everybody has such a sort of tension spans now.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm interested.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's the reality of being an NFL player in 2025, right?
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I think she do has done some of that stuff where he's kept guys after, right?
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think he has from what I understand.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: So like I just, I don't know, like this idea that there's some grand injustice going on or some great conspiracy is so ass-in-ime
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know what to do with it.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: But again, it's gone from annoyance to like, now I'm starting to enjoy it, you know what I mean?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like now it's now on at the point where it's like, it's actually kind of funny, you know?
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're that big an idiot, like go on.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Have fun, like I'm an enjoy this.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna remember this in three years.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna look back on this in three years, when like,
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: arch-maning is the is the brand's quarterback on or what the hell are we even arguing about you know what I mean well I think that's true about a lot of things that we will look back on but it's it's one of those things where I'm still in the mad phase because it's just a refusal to believe reality and it's it's just like you are not confronting
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: the actual way that the world works.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sorry.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm sorry that it's just like, you know, my son and I just finished my son, my daughter and I just finished Harry Potter, the third book.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would love it if there was a wizard school and I could send my kids there and they would have all these cool experiences.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the way that the world works.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: And like there's
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Shoulder Sanders to be this day one starter who was in in justly robbed of the opportunity and are envisioning this whole world in their heads and I'm sure it's very interesting But it is not Reality he had one good preseason start against the backup Carolina Panthers and and we just have to move on We were running nothing.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: We were doing fun.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yes
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and like that Ram's game, if you remember, like, sort of exposed everything.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm great.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: All the reasons why he went in the fifth round, and why he was the fourth guy in the dev chart.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: and a lot of those and like I don't want to rake them over the cold what happened is the ravens because that was a really tough spot coming in that game is a rookie like that's a really difficult spot but you can still see the stuff almost let me down the field i mean that was a drop ball or whatever good defensive play whatever you want to label it as i mean he was almost there yeah
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Right, like so and God knows that the storyline would be that, but you saw a lot of the flaws still you see some physical ability you see on the flip side he's still bailing out of the back of the pocket not stepping up doesn't seem to have great presence there He's not seeing it fast enough when the blitz comes he's not throwing hot right like there's like all these things that I can see is somebody who isn't an NFL coach or NFL scout
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: that like matches up with what teams were telling me in March and April, right?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: And that doesn't make Shidur uncommon, that doesn't make Shidur a bad quarterback, that doesn't mean Shidur doesn't have any future.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: It just means he's got a ways to go.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that's okay.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, like, I don't, like if you know, you do feel to some degree like you're banging your head into the wall, but it just,
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of gotten to the point like I, you know, you go through these different stages of it, like so I'm on the amusement, I went from the annoyance stage to the amusement stage and kind of enjoying it now, you know what I mean, like all these people like I
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I was on Cleveland radio earlier this week and I've done radio with these guys forever and they're awesome and you know, but like I, it almost became a sport for me like the 20 minutes I was on with my guy Nick and like where I was like shooting down everything he said he said you know what I mean?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, and it was the easiest thing in the world.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was just like what other fifth round pick have you ever talked about like this ever?
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, like like, like do you know who the Browns fifth round pick was three years ago?
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Can you remember?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: like how would that guy normally be be be be developed like that I normally wouldn't be playing right now normally would be getting practice reps and getting ready to go and like and you know like maybe he has a great training camp in the air too and breaks through then but that would not be unusual.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we're still treating him like he was the first take on the draft.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's uh, I, I, which he wasn't and he never was going to be, you know, like, I can say this point blank.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: The Titans never considered drafting pseudosanders.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: They've not him in and all that they never considered it, right?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: People listen to their show.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't consider taking him 26th overall when they moved or Jackson started.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: Those were not difficult decisions for those two.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: And Cliff, I mean, you see it, you know what I mean?
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like Jackson Dart was thrown in against the chargers and can swim.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: He would probably be the number one overall pick in this coming years.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was, you know, the simplest way to put it, Connor.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: somebody said to me when comparing dart and shit or because I'm telling you like over the course of March and April when I really get caught up and learn more about this stuff as I talk to different teams and all that.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: There was a mountain of darts better than Sanders.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm mountain of it.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: If anyone listened to this podcast, they would have heard it.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: We started talking about this in January of last year.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I had to be careful about the way I sent it because of all the hysteria, but like the simplest way to put it like when I had a GM say this to me and it's the easiest way to put it and it was like if you want to know about it that we're both guys are developed mentally.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: when Jackson Dart is in trouble, he moves forwards.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: When Shidorah Sanders in trouble, he moves backwards.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: And that seems like a simple little thing, but it's not.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's like playing quarterback in the NFL.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the rush is going to get to you.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: And you can see Jackson Dart climbing in the pocket, keeping his eyes down field, keeping the play alive.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: Which Shidorah Sanders, you see him bailing out of the pocket, trying to escape from five different guys chasing him.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: what everyone would say to me is like that's not kind of work in the NFL.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like if he tries to do that, there are going to be guys who have who are three tenths of a second faster than the forty-yard dash chasing him down and it's going to be, and he's not fast enough to get away.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: Because he's not the type of athlete like a Lamar or a Kyler or a Josh Allen is, right?
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what's better like what is because you never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to root for someone to fail and I'm not going to.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so there are two pads out there at this point that either goes out and smokes the
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: he gets to end and there's shades of gray.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean he could he could go for 150 yards of touchdown and a pick and everyone could be like, well Patrick will host it that a week ago, blah, blah, blah, blah, you know, right.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: or he just gets, or he just gets pummeled.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: And Max Crosby gets him eight times and he keeps trying to evade and turns his back to the field, which he's done a lot in the pre-season.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, they have a negative net yardage on offense or whatever it is, right?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: But in that world, I still think that those people who are screaming about practice reps will double down and say that the Browns just aren't doing a good enough job because what will be the next evolution of this average,
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we need to see him with a different coaching staff because two-time coach of the year Kevin Stefanski is not enough Tommy Reese by the way And I'll go into the players Kevin Stefanski who went to the playoffs using like five different quarterbacks two years ago and Tommy Reese Who operated a Notre Dame offense that I ran that I watched on a weekly basis that was thrilling
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: with Ian Book is quarterback for like seven years.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let me just say something.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy Reeves.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: Ian Book was like, you know, what was it, Duke of college football?
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was about seven years.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: He had it for seven years.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: It felt like he just there forever.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's like the all-time record holder.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: God bless Ian Book.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: But like Tommy Reeves is really good at this.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy Reeves got the most out of jail in Milro and Alabama when he was there.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: he is doing a good enough job like if you have a quarterback like this is an adequate lineup.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to hear it.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's very hot here.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so all that said, right?
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: We have four games in the four o'clock window on Sunday.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: Where is Brown's
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so we have Falcon Saints.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: We've Eagles Cowboys Jags Cardinals and Browns Raiders.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: So here we go.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be number two, right?
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's number two.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Two and a half.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: Are you tying you with Jacksonville or
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: with the Falcons because I mean, I don't think that there'd be an in-season coaching change their Albert, but if they get, let's just say that the Saints come out and vote race Atlanta with Kurt Cousin.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: That would be good.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think we could be on, like, this could turn in a college football.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: We could have, like, nine in-season firing, but, uh, do you think, like, well, well, well, well, uh, well, there'd be a coach who has,
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: Who's I sitting had coach who has multiple multiple offers from my conference rivals same Yeah, this is not a college football podcast, but it's up.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, too.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's close this is a great story Let's close this book on this really quick.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to watch you're going to watch and I suppose that is the point.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I am not rooting for Shidorah to fail.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: I hope he does find in a lot of ways
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think and Paul Deepadest did a great job just leaving this tire fire and walking back over to baseball after he did the Watson trade and he was just like, yeah, no, I'm good.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't work out for me, but with Deepadest of things interesting, we could do a whole podcast on that, but I mean, it was sort of the ultimate like.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have a heavy hand, I'm going to have a big influence on decisions, but then not be responsible for wins and loss.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when it suits me, I've read it for building the building, but not for all the deaths during the construction of the property.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: But to close loop on it, I think two things.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think that
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm rooting for Shidorah to succeed.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's obviously a magnetic person and obviously has some talent.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: I also think that organizationally, and this is not Kevin, and it's not Tommy, but above those guys, the guys in the offices on the next floor, this is what you deserve.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is the quarterback situation, you deserve.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: because not only did you go to the Sean Watson, not only did you get rid of Baker Mayfield, but you had Dylan Gabriel in the third round, and you were sitting there in the fifth, and you decided, oh, let's be analytically minded, and let's do the cool smart thing.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is what you deserve.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is it.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: because you're dealing with human beings, not like inanimate objects as asked.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: Take the best quarterback on the board and you're not dealing with this shit, Albert.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like just like it's the hold on.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to the 2025 NFL draft.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, just so fast.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: Pick five, number 144.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: right after that.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: You could add a corner back defense event running back tackle another running back corner back linebacker guard guard guard safety you know some of these guys are good like some of these guys are valuable role players right now for their teams.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah I I don't
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: like fungible assets anyway, you don't know what they're going to become.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I look at a couple of them.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, I don't think that's fair.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Jordan James, I know the Niners think highly of him or have thought and highly of him.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: Ty Hamilton is, you know, sort of an interesting one there, but I would say, I mean,
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: who's from our james linebacker from from Florida who he is like a that he's a valuable player for he's going to be a valuable player for Dallas I think going forward Elijah Roberts you could you could have had him next to Carson swissinger Elijah Roberts you don't think that Elijah Roberts is one I think he's the only rookie Hold on what's the what's the what's the status of good players here though
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: The only two, so this was from Bucks communications two days ago.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: There's only two rookies in the NFL with multiple sacks and three or more passes defense this season.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: And that's Jacob Parish, the corner back in Elijah Roberts.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: Just, you deserved it.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: You deserved it.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, we've just been 24 minutes talking about it subject that we've argued is around.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Got them.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: We got a couple more things.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: I want to talk about burrow.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: But we should hit kiff and just really quickly.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a college football.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: This is a fascinating story in general.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: And like.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: This is so after.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: So incredibly so.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it like he goes on Mac, if he says nothing gets asked nothing.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know what I mean, like, let's let's underline the second part of that Albert, because there's a lot of guests get to go on the happy fun time show and not talk about the shit that's going on, okay, which undermines which, like, materially, he's not a journalist, I get it, but it's like, right, like, and I, and I, and I, and I like Pat, but like this materially affects.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: the way that the rest of us do our job when you provide safe harbor like it's just I don't know it's just bad overall and I know a lot of people are like screw the media and I understand that but like there's also like do you want to know the truth like or are you just going to be living in Candyland if you want Candyland that's fine you know and I know some people are that way but like if there's a relevant topic
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: and you're on a show, you should be asked about it, you know what I mean?
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: And again, like we work in the toy department football's not like this isn't a matter of national security, but like I mean the fact that like the fact I've been in these situations before people that I'm very friendly with, right?
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: I will say to them like just so you can answer however you want just so you know I have to ask you know what I mean like and it's more or less like if I don't ask well then we can't do the interview right you know what I mean like it's just that's that's what it is you know and so anyway but I this this one's interesting because I I have a hard time conjuring in NFL scenario
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: trying to poach a coach as the team that has the coach is in the midst of a historic season.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like this might be the best old-miss team since before our team manning.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, this is before an
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to be corny about it because I know NIL has changed some of this, but it's like there is like something to like sending your kid away to play for a college coach, you know, when he's 18 years old, and those are going to be former to beers in his life whether he makes it the NFL or not.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: And now, like some of those kids have been there for three and four years and they've worked their ass off and the program is finally at a point where it's like we could really break through and we could change the paradigm for this place.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: And you know,
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now you've got the coach out here, kind of.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: All right, like, you know, let's open up the bidding war.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I don't know, there's something that's just grinding me about it.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the advent of the college football playoff adds such a different specter to it.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like,
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: for anybody.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you and I remember how many times, I mean, God, it was every Patriots team that was in the Super Bowl.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: How many times were we sitting at those tables with Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels and Brian Flores and give me one more.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: Give me one more, Bill O'Brien.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: Guys, Bill O'Brien was the coach at Penn State.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: If you remember, Charlie was the coach at Notre Dame when they were going through those Superballs.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that's true.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: So the, a Brian thing in the white singer a little bit different, but these other guys, I'm talking to a pro job, right?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: You would ask for now, won't have been another one if you go way back, Cornell.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you would ask them, like, hey, you know, about all this other stuff and they would shut it down and say, nope, I'm here.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm here to win the Super Bowl, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: the head coach of your team like Nick Seriani like two weeks before the Super Bowl just goes you know what guys the Cowboys made me an incredible offer uh so you know there is Dallas there isn't an example of it though what is that there is an example parcellus
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: Did he leave the ourselves with being openly courted by the Jets while the Patriots were preparing for Super Bowl 31 against Packers?
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: And if you remember, Will McDonough, God rest his soul.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like that guy is like the reason I'm in sports journalism.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_00]: But Will McDonough had reporting that like, I mean, the Jess flu, like, it was like, if you go back to you read the Will McDonough stories, it was like he was there because maybe he was.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when some of this stuff was going on, but yeah, they were openly courting and people appear still hold it against parts of people who are here for that.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's why he wasn't in the Patriots Hall of Fame until this summer.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: is because like the two weeks leading up to that Super Bowl, the jets were courting him and the jets wound up getting him.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so that's probably the best.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's probably the closest example, you know, but yeah, it's it's crazy.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: It really is and I I don't know.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like in this case, like Ole Miss, like do you tell them to get lost?
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Is that fair to your kids?
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's so complicated.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: it is like this thing about the ultimatum which was reported and that was the one thing that he was asked about on macophie like and he he denied it but like if your old miss can you afford to deliver an ultimatum based on what it's going to mean for like the 100 guys that are on your football roster.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: What makes me upset is that I think everybody's got takes on how things should be and then the bag is presented and maybe you know what like I love the mmkb podcast and maybe one day if someone goes I'll give you six million dollars to go on the podcast and say
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Albert Breer's a weiner and and then come over here and work for us, maybe I would do it.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: I have some enemies of my, I have some enemies, so that's not impossible, but.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so I don't know how I would react, but, you know, you see Lane Kiff and it all these guys talking all the problem with NIL, the problem with this problem with that, you have the power.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: You were the most sought after coach in recent college history to say, I'm not doing shit until my team is out of the college football playoffs.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: And if you want to wait for me, that's fine.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: and if you don't, then have fun trying to pay that guy from Texas Tech 10 million dollars a year.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Have some faith in yourself and have some respect for your kids.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's it, you know?
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, okay, we're gonna miss one early signing period, or one recruiting period.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: If LSU doesn't fill the job, the kids are gonna know who's going there, you know what I mean?
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Coach your team, it's crazy.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: I just think it's like it's to me.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, yeah, I think it's, it's a well as a result of college football calendar.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I was, I was texting with Pat 40 on this who wrote an excellent call on it the other day.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: I encourage everybody to go to the website and check that out.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: But I asked him, I was like, because the transfer portal and because of like the recruiting window now being in December, I asked him, I said, so is this more or less like prioritizing LSU's transfer portal class and LSU is 2026 team over old misses 2025 team because.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: that the reason not to wait would be the roster of construction dynamics, right?
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: So like I asked, I was like, so is this basically like prioritizing LSU in Florida's 2026 season over Ole Miss's 2025 playoff run?
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: And he was like, yeah, it's exactly what it is.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_00]: And how stood up his back?
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: All these schools have GMs.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what are the GMs doing?
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: whatever just a buffer and there's no he's not coming to the NFL so let's just kill that like there's not yeah there's the NFL buzz on him is not is not whatever but it's making it out to be
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: Have you been looking for a natural way to relieve aches and discomfort?
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: The CBD gummies from cornbread hemp are formulated to work with your body, not against it.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, at the end of a long NFL Sunday, you're writing, you're staying up all night, your podcast and your body is still so energized and cornbread just helps you chill out.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: that helps you get into a nice headspace and really invite a nice night to sleep.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: Cornbread Ham CBD gummies are made to help you feel better.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's stress, discomfort, or just needing a little relaxation, they only use the best part of the hemp plant, the flower, for the purest and most potent CBD.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right now, MMQB listeners can save 30% on their first order, just head to cornbreadhemp.com, slash MMQB and use the code MMQB at checkout.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: and use code mmqb.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's close out with just a little bit of jobero talk.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: I like in this to
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Aaron, remember when Aaron Rogers kept saying he was going to come back from the Achilles injury?
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is this like that or is do you think Joe is legitimately going to play in like two weeks?
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is like Joe having like tiger blood.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like does the easiest way for me to put it?
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: So like they bring him back and obviously he's been pushing the envelope and
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: So last week, he had seven on seven reps, which I think we detail a few different places, but no 11 on 11.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: And the idea was, okay, like Joe had been throwing for a while.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: He had been in meetings for a while.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: And like, okay, like, we want to get him out there where he's just, he's not just throwing the trainers or equipment guys, you know, like he's throwing to his receivers, and he's throwing in progression passing.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: So the easiest way to do that where you wouldn't really put them in any sort of risk is like we'll throw them out there in 7 on 7 and and not 11 on 11.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it goes through with that plan last week.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, like the plan this week was to start to integrate them into 11 on 11 work while like them Joe Flacco has the shoulder issue and so that opens the door for him to start to take all the reps right and I mean I can't tell you where he's at right now physically at 9.54 a.m. on Thursday.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: I can tell you having been around him a bunch, and like I know you have two.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: I, the plan was not to play on this week against the page for it.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is gonna come down and this is my understanding of it to Joe Burrow and Zach Taylor making a decision on it.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's a lot on Zach to be responsible here, right?
- 35:42[SPEAKER_00]: And Joe has to be honest with him.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: But that dude's a maniac.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I've said this a few different times.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: People don't like it when I say it.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: He is the direct descendant to Tom Brady, just as a winner.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not saying like Patrick Mahomes, don't make this an either or thing.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: Mahomes is one of the best winners in NFL history.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm just saying like the stylistically, the way he plays the game, the competitiveness, the demeanor, the playstyle, all of that, right?
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: like he is the descendant.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: He like I think he's a descendant to Brady.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: So why is it relevant that he's the descendant to Brady?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'll just tell you, this Connor, they made that playoff run in 2011 or that's Super Bowl run in 2011 where they lost the giants, right?
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: Tom Brady separated his shoulder.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, in like week 12, I don't know when it was exact.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: I was just, I think it was early December, separated his non-throwing shoulder and played the rest of that year with a harness.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he played in 2017 after like slicing his throwing hand open, um, he just, there was
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: continually proved that he was the best player for the team and show up and answer the bell.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: And there are two things that's
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: are, why?
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: Two reasons why.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, he always had that insecurity of somebody else's coming for my job, right?
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: So he always had that, like, in the back of his head, I don't think Tom ever out clue that.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is my job.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_00]: I have to continue to show him.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: He would say that, he said this to me a number of times.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_00]: All I'm trying to do is show him the best player for the team, right?
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the other thing.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: Number two.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: is he felt like deeply in his gut, like it was his duty to show up for the team because he and I remember hearing this from him too.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: The only way a quarterback can prove his toughness is through availability.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's Joe also.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: Joe's brothers are linebackers.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: Joe's dad was a defensive
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: Joe is as much of like brings as much of a defensive player mentality to that position as any quarterback in the sport and right like.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: If there is a way to answer the bell, he is going to answer the bell.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why I compare him to Brady in that way.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: If there is a way for Joe Burrow to be on that field on Sunday, he is going to find that way to get on that field.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so like I think that's sort of what the Bengals are dealing with right now is can we manage it?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: like what's the risk and like that's on Zach, but that's gonna be a Zach and Joe decision, right?
- 38:40[SPEAKER_00]: And look, like I said it all along, like if you can find a way to beat New England and then you can turn around four days later and beat the Ravens.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Now all of a sudden, you're five and seven, right?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: With 10 days to get ready for Buffalo, not an ideal position,
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: But then if you can split Buffalo Baltimore, over those next two weeks, now you're seven or eight, I think, my mass off.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: But then the last three weeks this season are manageable hold on.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: Let me not mess with you.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: You do that, and I will say this, because we had this exact same discussion last year when was it last year two years ago,
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: was Burrell hurt last year, and then came back last year.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: No, like, well, last year he was hurt during last year he was coming back off the rest.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: The rest was two years ago.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_00]: Last year he had something in camp.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember what it was.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: But last year he had like an MVP year, statistically.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: And the defense was like dreadful.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: I might have been two years ago then where I remember writing this at the time, and then they're being a lot of pushback.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: these are not playoff seasons.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, and I get, you know, so the math by the way, so if they can win their next two and then split the Buffalo Baltimore turn there now there's six and eight with Miami Arizona Cleveland left.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a path to 9 and 8, which is not nearly as good as, and three and one over the next four based on the opponents is a lot to ask, but like if there's a path to 9 and 8 that might get you in and if you get in with Joe Burrow at quarterback like how many teams would you say have a better shot.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: at the Super Bowl, then the Bengals with Joe Burrow, a quarterback, just even with what their defense looks like.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I just think people get how good this freaking guy is when he's right, you know what I mean?
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and when he's right, like, I mean, they're four guys over the last few years in football, and he's one of those four guys along with Mahomes, Alan, and Lamar Jackson.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: There's 23 when I wrote that, because that was the calf injury here.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, you know, why not?
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you had a couple of good years just let this guy sit and get healthy and take the top 10 draft pick.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just to make it.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, now the 2026 classes in spectacular, it's probably like eight or nine guys deep.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: And since an ad, he's been running into talent deficiencies during the Burro era certainly, but
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: you know, I think the flip side of it is that they're so all in that believing in this 2% playoff chance, which is what it is right now.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's 2% chance.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Believing in that is the only option.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: And, uh,
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: we'll see what happens.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, but every decision that you've made up to this point and decisions that I've championed, I thought it was a good idea to go get flagged.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a good idea to paint for Hendrix and thought it was a good idea to me.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, get you Marce Stewart in here.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm looking at the playoff picture in the AFC.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think the charges are in trouble.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_00]: So they're seven, they're seven and four, but that I think that could go the wrong way because I think their tackle situation is completely undermined for their act.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are six and four.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: Do they keep it going?
- 42:22[SPEAKER_00]: The Texans are five and five.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: They play Buffalo at a night, so that could be five and six.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: But cheese are five and five.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think we all expected they'll surge a little bit.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know, like how solid the steel or spot is.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: At six and four,
- 42:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, you start to work through this and like is a nine and eight team going to make the playoffs maybe like but that's true.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough to count on that and if if you have to be better.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean and if we're talking about them and again, like this is all the math now, but like Like to get to 10 wins they have to go on defeated through us the way.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_00]: So that's right.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I think like here's the other part of it.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think the fact that they couldn't get to this point in a better spot, like should lead to some soul searching organizationally on where they are.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_00]: And like in particular, you know, with ownership, like, what are we doing to make sure that we're maximizing having, you know, probably the best player we've ever had at the position, you know, right?
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would love nothing more than a spectacular Bengals run, and so I'm all in on this.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: I do wonder, like it's been a tough year for Mike Brown, right?
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you've constantly been pushing your chips in and everything's kind of been letting you down.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like, okay, I'm gonna give the, I'm gonna give out gold and all the defensive pieces and then everybody just forgot how to tackle.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to,
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do everything, I'm going to sign the receivers and then the quarterback goes down.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do all this stuff.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to bring in Joe Flacco and then just, I mean, again, I mean, the defense just fell apart and it has to be frustrating.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: At this point, you can't abandon it, even though I just think like, if there was someone in there that was like, guys, what could we do with like a top 10 offensive tackle and like a truly like if we just made Joe Burrell sleep in a hyperbarid chamber for the next eight weeks, like, doesn't that seem like a better deal for almost everybody involved?
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, soft thing.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, but I hate that too.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: I so I'm conflicted.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm completely.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess you have to, if you, if he starts and you lose this game, do you consider shutting them down?
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yeah, there's no question.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right?
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: And what's the flip side is, and again, I know you can't operate this way.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: I defended Dan Quinn for having Jayden Daniels out on the field.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: You can never operate under the assumption of a paranoid, what if scenario on the injury front.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do it.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you did all your best, like, be John Robinson would have like three carries a game.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's just how it is.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: And it sucks.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: that's what we got going on.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of AFC North stuff today, Albert.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: But we thank you guys for sliding by in the mid week episode, hanging out with us.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'll get out of your way because so this is Thursday, November 20th at 10 a.m.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know exactly hour by hour and there's time zone stuff, but you have x amount of time now to get ready for shit or so that includes all the grocery shopping that needs to be done, all the cooking that needs to be done.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to get the jersey.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: I want to
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: So we've started, uh, I've started my- I'd be great if it was like- That'd be great if it was like, you know, like ramen noodles or something like that.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like, my- like if I was an old person, like- You don't think about what would be.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: I started my, uh, my pre-thanks giving thanks giving some of my wife's.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: My wife's office, she threw their office, the big thanksgiving party.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so we get all the leftovers sent home to that.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I had Thanksgiving dinner one last night.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'll probably have Thanksgiving dinner each of the next two nights.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: Going into the weekend, can we stretch?
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're like the double dinner guy, right?
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, in my peak marathon training days, I was too, I would order two meals.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: Um, right now, I'm just sort of like semi injured and like Peloton, like three or four hours of running for miles running.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I got that.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm God, I'm glad to see you.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: You've hit that milestone where your joins start to hurt and it's like, I better, I better adjust here.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I got a variety of things isn't it the one the one thing I miss is legitimately being able to eat whatever I want and the hope is that I can get back to that at some point, but I don't think that's I remember when I was trading for mayor of thorns, I was 29 and 30 when I ran the two that I ran and like just that like I can eat whatever the hell I want and it doesn't matter.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like your body needs it and it's moving forward.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's moving forward.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see at that point.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I had so much available to me.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was awesome.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: The best.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: And now I'm going to go upstairs.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: I grilled like a whole thing.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's chicken yesterday.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to have like a chicken and spinach salad.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: What is my life become?
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: This is, uh, getting old as much every day.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: Getting old is not fun.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, it's fun guys.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: We get to gather around the tube and watch shit door sanders together.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: We will talk about it on
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: It'll be like, I mean, will it be a block in this podcast at this point?
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: I have no, like, could, could he be so good that?
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: It rounds Raiders leads to the podcast on Monday, tune in and find out, like subscribe.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are awesome.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be like opening a Christmas present this year door inside on Monday morning.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: Chances are, knowing the way that our lives have been going.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is exactly what we're going to get.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it's what we deserve.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, we deserve you guys.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: You're the best.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
