- 0:00Speaker 1: Here on this section Tuesday, the iconic Willie Nelson with
- 0:04Speaker 1: some whiskey river rolling back. And maybe it's only apropos
- 0:07Speaker 1: that that's the point where we have Greg Tepper, or
- 0:09Speaker 1: the editor in chief of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine,
- 0:12Speaker 1: not because he's a regular whiskey and biber, although although
- 0:18Speaker 1: if the truth were known, mister Tepper and yours truly
- 0:21Speaker 1: have sipped on a fifteen year old single malt Scotch
- 0:26Speaker 1: whiskey in the past, have we not? We have.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I believe we toasted the twenty twenty world champion Los
- 0:35Speaker 2: Angeles Dodgers as we did that. Yes, it's memory serves. Yes,
- 0:40Speaker 2: we tipped one back a time or two. It has been,
- 0:44Speaker 2: it should be said, so I'm not ashamed of that.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I was even thinking about summer twenty twenty four at
- 0:50Speaker 1: coaching school after the I guess it was Saturday night
- 0:55Speaker 1: or whatever, and you were surrounded by your people because
- 1:02Speaker 1: they they they follow you at your every step for
- 1:06Speaker 1: the magazine, and you were you were there and you
- 1:09Speaker 1: had a drink in your hand.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I was like, no, no, no, no, no, hold on. I walked
- 1:13Speaker 3: up to the bar.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I came back and I said try this and it
- 1:17Speaker 1: was a fifteen year old Yeah talent.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I think, yeah, you go to to the to the
- 1:22Speaker 2: listeners out there. If you ever do have the opportunity
- 1:25Speaker 2: to be at the same bar with Craig Way, I
- 1:27Speaker 2: do highly recommend it. It's it's like, I don't know,
- 1:30Speaker 2: it's kind of like if you've ever flown stand By.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You're flying stand By and then suddenly they just say, oh,
- 1:35Speaker 2: well sir, we happen to have this, uh, this first
- 1:37Speaker 2: class ticket available for you to uh. Then yeah, that's
- 1:40Speaker 2: that's what it's like with whatever. You just end up
- 1:43Speaker 2: in the same in the same bar with Craigway. He uh. Somehow, somehow,
- 1:47Speaker 2: you'll you'll get upgraded, you know what I mean. You'll
- 1:49Speaker 2: you'll you'll find your you'll find yourself in a better
- 1:51Speaker 2: situation than you were previous.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Okay, So this is a perfect transition then, because I
- 1:55Speaker 1: was going to talk about things like upgrading in status
- 1:59Speaker 1: because in the Dave Campbell Texas Football Magazine a FBS
- 2:04Speaker 1: Power Poll, Texas A and M still holds on to
- 2:06Speaker 1: the one that one spot Texas is no longer number
- 2:09Speaker 1: two being upgraded. The Texas Tech Red Raiders four and oh,
- 2:13Speaker 1: they're now number two in the poll, with Texas at
- 2:16Speaker 1: number three. And by the way, I know a lot
- 2:18Speaker 1: of folks in these parts are really proud of the
- 2:20Speaker 1: former huddo hit a hippo Will Hammond, a quarterback for
- 2:23Speaker 1: the Red Raiders.
- 2:25Speaker 2: And let me tell you that I think you've heard.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'm sure people have heard the talk about Texas Tech
- 2:33Speaker 2: over the course of the past few days. It is
- 2:36Speaker 2: this is that game on Saturday against Utah is probably,
- 2:42Speaker 2: I think among the most important wins for Texas Tech
- 2:48Speaker 2: in recent memory. And here's what I mean by it,
- 2:50Speaker 2: because it did, I think shatter so many of the
- 2:56Speaker 2: longstanding conventions about Texas Tech. But Okay, you can't win
- 3:02Speaker 2: against a ranked team on the road, Well they just did.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And okay, well, you can't win a game where it's
- 3:07Speaker 2: a game about physicality and not finesse or not firepower,
- 3:11Speaker 2: well they just did. You can't win a game a
- 3:14Speaker 2: defensive battle that is going to be based on coming
- 3:17Speaker 2: up with big defensive plays and and and field position,
- 3:20Speaker 2: well they just did. Uh. That is, you can't win
- 3:24Speaker 2: if you go in there and you'll lose your most
- 3:25Speaker 2: you lose your starting quarterbacks. Certainly that'sn't dead sentence. Well,
- 3:28Speaker 2: they just did everything that Texas Tech has been. All
- 3:33Speaker 2: those monkeys felt like they came off of the back
- 3:36Speaker 2: of the Saturday last Saturday in Utah, and it was
- 3:39Speaker 2: really remarkable to see. And I think that even in
- 3:42Speaker 2: the postgame interview that you saw with Joey McGuire, he
- 3:46Speaker 2: kind of understood the gravity of the situation and said, oh,
- 3:50Speaker 2: we've done something that that Technic Tech doesn't usually and
- 3:55Speaker 2: hasn't done in quite a while. You know, you hear
- 3:57Speaker 2: about that that this year is different. This year was
- 4:00Speaker 2: like it could be very different. And right now, you know,
- 4:03Speaker 2: they get an open date and then they get really
- 4:05Speaker 2: into the heart of Big twelve season and it's hard
- 4:09Speaker 2: to look up and down that schedule and be sure
- 4:11Speaker 2: that they're going to lose the game. I mean, they've
- 4:13Speaker 2: got to you know, the trip at Arizona State looms.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I think that's the game that's certainly going to trouble,
- 4:19Speaker 2: could be tough. And then they're at Kansas State. Those
- 4:22Speaker 2: are the two toughest road games they get by us,
- 4:26Speaker 2: maybe their most their most difficult you know on paper test. Well,
- 4:29Speaker 2: they get them in Lubbock right now for texta text.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It feels like it's all right there in front of them,
- 4:35Speaker 2: and it's all started with what I thought was an
- 4:38Speaker 2: inspired performance there in provo.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Here's where I am with Joey McGuire, and we both
- 4:43Speaker 1: have known him a long time, even going back that
- 4:46Speaker 1: called three of a state championship games when he was
- 4:48Speaker 1: at Cedar Hill. He's he always has had an unshakable
- 4:52Speaker 1: belief and confidence in his skill as a head coach
- 4:55Speaker 1: at how to get the right field. Now, now I
- 4:58Speaker 1: would say that they're there is some proof of concept there,
- 5:02Speaker 1: that there is the fact that he's got even more
- 5:05Speaker 1: for his guys to believe in. And yes, people can
- 5:08Speaker 1: downplay it all they want, but with that nil bank roll,
- 5:12Speaker 1: that's going going their way as well. Now he has
- 5:16Speaker 1: that momentum ball rolling where he can just kind of,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you like to use a defensive line mentality, pin your
- 5:22Speaker 1: ears back and go after the quarterback. He can coach
- 5:24Speaker 1: the way we saw him coach at the high school level,
- 5:28Speaker 1: modified for the collegiate game.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, and and I agree with you he has certainly
- 5:34Speaker 2: kind of become a bit of a chameleon and and
- 5:36Speaker 2: said and found a way to build a team that
- 5:40Speaker 2: that looks like a winner. And there is going to
- 5:42Speaker 2: be a lot of talk and I understand it about
- 5:45Speaker 2: specifically all of the you know, the the transfers they
- 5:49Speaker 2: got in and the nil and that, and certainly that
- 5:52Speaker 2: is true. I would also say to you, hey, let's
- 5:55Speaker 2: take a look at the a lot of the guys
- 6:00Speaker 2: who are starring for this team, and a lot of
- 6:05Speaker 2: these guys were either recruited by John MacGuire or they
- 6:10Speaker 2: are Texans that had come home. I mean, to me,
- 6:12Speaker 2: the story is that this is in many respects a
- 6:15Speaker 2: very Texan team. Look at the guy, Look at the
- 6:17Speaker 2: quarterback who started the year, Baron Morton in East Flynn
- 6:19Speaker 2: of product. Well, they lose their starting quarterback. We don't
- 6:22Speaker 2: know for how long, but certainly they bring in their
- 6:23Speaker 2: backup Will Hammond. A houtto guy right who was the
- 6:27Speaker 2: real star of the running game recently, Cameron Dickey out
- 6:30Speaker 2: of Crockett High School. Right. And then you go and
- 6:34Speaker 2: you look on the defensive side, which has been such
- 6:36Speaker 2: a revelation for them. Shield would I think their defensive
- 6:39Speaker 2: coordinator has been I think one of the rising stars
- 6:42Speaker 2: in college football in the past couple of years. And
- 6:44Speaker 2: who was the star of the defenses past year or
- 6:47Speaker 2: in the past week. It was Jacob Rodriguez, their linebacker
- 6:50Speaker 2: from which Tom falls Ryder. This is a true Texan
- 6:54Speaker 2: team that they've built. And yet you know a couple
- 6:56Speaker 2: of those guys specifically, you know Rodriguez was a transfer.
- 6:59Speaker 2: He was from Virginia, but he comes home and take
- 7:02Speaker 2: to join the tax to Tech team and he has
- 7:04Speaker 2: he has really helped to elevate this defense. I just
- 7:08Speaker 2: think that when you take a look at this roster,
- 7:10Speaker 2: we said it in the in the outset before the
- 7:13Speaker 2: season that Texa Tech from a roster perspective looked like
- 7:17Speaker 2: the most talented team in the Big twelve. Right now,
- 7:20Speaker 2: four games and it's hard to argue that that is
- 7:23Speaker 2: two far off base. Still ways to go, but I
- 7:26Speaker 2: would say right now for Texa Tech, it's pretty much
- 7:29Speaker 2: as good as it's been.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Talking football in the State of Texas with Greg Tepper,
- 7:33Speaker 1: editor in chief Dave Campill's Texas Football Magazine. Let me
- 7:35Speaker 1: ask you about three of the four private FBS programs, s,
- 7:42Speaker 1: m U and TCU. We're hearing that probably they will
- 7:46Speaker 1: never see the skillet game again.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Never is a long time.
- 7:49Speaker 1: But but there's that, and then and then of course
- 7:52Speaker 1: Baylor falling a tough game on the walk off field
- 7:55Speaker 1: goal day Arizona State. What do you what's your take
- 7:58Speaker 1: on those three programs right down?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Well, then you know, first of all, to take your
- 8:04Speaker 2: first part, I think we'll see TCUs and you again.
- 8:07Speaker 2: It's too good of a rivalry. I think eventually, like
- 8:10Speaker 2: everyone's gonna cost of settle in and realize how much
- 8:13Speaker 2: they miss each other, and they're gonna end up playing again.
- 8:16Speaker 2: It'll happen. But I do think that you know, for TCU,
- 8:20Speaker 2: we said before the season that we felt like this
- 8:23Speaker 2: was a really important season for them, And what I
- 8:25Speaker 2: think has been really impressive for them is that offensively,
- 8:29Speaker 2: it does feel like they've figured things out. And Josh Hoover,
- 8:34Speaker 2: speaking of you know, Texas products, the Rockwall Heath kid
- 8:37Speaker 2: has been one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Twelve.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I mean, he has been terrific. You know, he's completing
- 8:43Speaker 2: almost seventy percent of his passes, he's taking care of
- 8:46Speaker 2: the football. He has been terrific. And I think you
- 8:49Speaker 2: add in what is a revitalized receiver corps with Eric
- 8:54Speaker 2: McCallister and Jordan Dwyer and Joseph May and Jack and
- 8:59Speaker 2: this is a dangerous offense. And I think that you know,
- 9:03Speaker 2: last week against SMU, uh they fell down. SMU fell
- 9:06Speaker 2: down early, and they fought back, but every time they
- 9:10Speaker 2: fought back, TCU had a CounterPunch, and that I think
- 9:13Speaker 2: has been kind of the issue for them the past
- 9:16Speaker 2: couple of years is that they take it. They take
- 9:18Speaker 2: a punch and they'd have to kind of load up
- 9:21Speaker 2: to get ready to punch back. There was an immediate
- 9:23Speaker 2: and immediate response and an immediate resiliency. I think from
- 9:27Speaker 2: the tasties you team that I think really bodes well
- 9:29Speaker 2: for them heading in to the heart of conference play.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And then for Baylor. You know that that's a disappointing loss.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I think against Arizona State, this is a team that,
- 9:40Speaker 2: you know, they're really hard to get a read on
- 9:44Speaker 2: because they've got the two losses that I don't think
- 9:46Speaker 2: you can necessarily, you know, say too much more about,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you know, the loss of Auburn. I think it's aged ok.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You know, they lose on the last second field goal
- 9:55Speaker 2: to Arizona State. I think everything is still out in
- 9:57Speaker 2: front of them. But the issue is going to be
- 9:59Speaker 2: the defense is going to be a problem all year long.
- 10:02Speaker 2: This has been that's been a real issue for them
- 10:06Speaker 2: early and it's going to continue to be an issue.
- 10:08Speaker 2: This is a team that's giving up nearly five and
- 10:11Speaker 2: a half yards per play. They are giving up four
- 10:15Speaker 2: yards to carry. This team is defensively going to have
- 10:19Speaker 2: some issues. They're gonna have to outscore their problems. Now.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I do think that they've got the guy and sorry
- 10:24Speaker 2: Robertson certainly to do that, and some of the playmakers
- 10:27Speaker 2: they've got, like Josh Cameron on the outside, you know,
- 10:30Speaker 2: the Bryce and Washington has been a real revelation for
- 10:32Speaker 2: running back spot for them, the Franklin kid. But I
- 10:35Speaker 2: see that defense is ultimately what's going to hold them
- 10:38Speaker 2: back and keep them from achieving the kind of stuff
- 10:41Speaker 2: that we thought might be available to them in the outset,
- 10:44Speaker 2: specifically contending for a baseball championship. This still could be
- 10:47Speaker 2: a team that finished eighty four or something like that.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But I think that unless that defense figures something out
- 10:53Speaker 2: that we just haven't seen through the first quarter of
- 10:55Speaker 2: the first third of the season, it does feel like
- 10:58Speaker 2: that's going to hold them backs moving forward.
- 11:01Speaker 1: A bigger surprise to you North Texas who you now
- 11:05Speaker 1: have as your highest ranked G six school at four
- 11:08Speaker 1: and oh or Rice at three and one.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Hey how about your Rice house? Yea got Abel has
- 11:15Speaker 2: said has installed that kind of if you haven't seen
- 11:19Speaker 2: Rice play football, they're a fun looking offense right now.
- 11:23Speaker 2: They are. They're running the ball. They have the fifteenth
- 11:26Speaker 2: best rushing offense in all of college football, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 2: averaging nearly two or fifty yards per game on the ground.
- 11:34Speaker 2: They're a lot of fun. And now I will say
- 11:36Speaker 2: that I think you take a look at who they've
- 11:38Speaker 2: beaten so far, you know, with preview A and M
- 11:41Speaker 2: Charlotte Louisiana. Rice is not in the position to start
- 11:45Speaker 2: apologizing for wins. But I will say that it does
- 11:48Speaker 2: feel like the heart of the schedule is really going
- 11:52Speaker 2: to start coming up, most notably starting this week when
- 11:54Speaker 2: they traveled to take on a Navy team that you know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: you want to talk about running the name. All that
- 11:58Speaker 2: game might be out, might be over forty five minutes,
- 12:01Speaker 2: but I would say, for it's got to be North Texas.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I mean, now, last week they tried very hard to
- 12:07Speaker 2: spit the bit against.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Army Boyd boy did that.
- 12:12Speaker 2: They they were That was a game I turned off
- 12:15Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, they're in control. Nothing to see here.
- 12:18Speaker 2: And then suddenly I got a text message actually from
- 12:21Speaker 2: our executive producer and uh and and North Texas alum
- 12:24Speaker 2: Ashley Pickle, who said, Hey, you might want to turn
- 12:26Speaker 2: this game back on. It's it's getting too close for comfort.
- 12:28Speaker 2: But they ended up pulling out the win. And the
- 12:30Speaker 2: bottom line is that this offense is going to be
- 12:33Speaker 2: incredibly difficult to stop because Drew Mastmaker is playing at
- 12:37Speaker 2: an extremely high level. McKenzie the guild looks like he
- 12:40Speaker 2: is the real deal at the running back spot. And
- 12:42Speaker 2: then they've got a trio of wide receivers in Wyatt Young,
- 12:44Speaker 2: Cameron Dorner and Miles Coleman, a name that I know
- 12:47Speaker 2: folks down there in that part of the world remember fondly.
- 12:50Speaker 2: They can play and playstimvil. The other thing that is
- 12:53Speaker 2: impressive to me about their defense, and I know they
- 12:56Speaker 2: gave up a bunch of yards late in that game's army,
- 12:58Speaker 2: but they take the ball away. They are they are,
- 13:01Speaker 2: they are bouncing on mistakes and they take them all away.
- 13:04Speaker 2: As long as they do that, they are going to
- 13:06Speaker 2: be a true contender, not just in the American but
- 13:08Speaker 2: if you're a. If you're contender in the American you're
- 13:10Speaker 2: continued to grab that gee five spot in the in
- 13:13Speaker 2: the college football playoffs and that point, you know, we're
- 13:16Speaker 2: talking to heavy stuff. A lot of room between now
- 13:19Speaker 2: and then, but for now, it's it couldn't they're there
- 13:21Speaker 2: for North Texas. You know.
- 13:22Speaker 1: The funny thing is everybody remembers Miles Coleman playing, uh,
- 13:27Speaker 1: playing there for Vandergriff. What they may forget is that
- 13:30Speaker 1: Drew Mestamaker was the starting strong safety for Vandergrift. He
- 13:34Speaker 1: was the backup quarterback. This is the starting safety, yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 1: for Drew Sanders, who had pretty good quarterback running the
- 13:40Speaker 1: show at the time.
- 13:42Speaker 2: And now they've got a nice connection going to Denton.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no doubt about it. Talking and that will
- 13:48Speaker 1: help us transitional high school football. Talking to Greg Tepper here,
- 13:51Speaker 1: editor in chief Take Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. Bigger Upsets
- 13:54Speaker 1: walks at you for Dunkinville, rock all over North Crowley.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It's probably it's probably walked Atchie over in Duncanville for
- 14:06Speaker 2: a couple of reasons. First of all, it's district game.
- 14:09Speaker 2: It's a district ball game, and that obviously resonates in
- 14:12Speaker 2: a huge way. Furthermore, this is a North Crowley team,
- 14:15Speaker 2: I think just because we'd seen more of them. Dungeville
- 14:17Speaker 2: only played one game, so it's still kind of a mystery.
- 14:19Speaker 2: But North Crowley had looked shaky. They kind of I
- 14:23Speaker 2: said this in other places, Nor Crowley kind of played
- 14:25Speaker 2: with fire and escaped. They played with fire and they
- 14:28Speaker 2: finally got burned this week, and against a good rock
- 14:31Speaker 2: ball team that I think went out there and played
- 14:33Speaker 2: pretty fearlessly. But for Walks at Hatchie, this is a
- 14:37Speaker 2: pretty seismic win for Shane Pollinson's ball club and to
- 14:41Speaker 2: go out there and to now take an opportunity to
- 14:45Speaker 2: really take command of Districts eleven six A if they
- 14:48Speaker 2: can beat the Soto this week, which they have here
- 14:51Speaker 2: to have gotten the Wheels a little bit more back
- 14:53Speaker 2: on than their first two weeks, you know. But I
- 14:55Speaker 2: think you've got CCU commit at quarterback and Jerry Meyer
- 14:59Speaker 2: you have, and more importantly, you have got any defense,
- 15:02Speaker 2: a thumping, thunderous defense led by Jake Wan Snell who
- 15:06Speaker 2: laid the end of the year on a fourth down
- 15:08Speaker 2: to really seal that victory for Watsahatchie. I think that
- 15:12Speaker 2: this is a walkstashy team at times to start really
- 15:15Speaker 2: paying attention to I think they announced themselves to the
- 15:18Speaker 2: state last week when their win over duncan Billy it
- 15:21Speaker 2: was it was really impressive.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Let me get your thoughts on this is.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I asked you for a measuring stick about Southlake, Carol
- 15:30Speaker 1: and clearly you know a little over a week ago,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and clearly what about Allen who you've moved up so high.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Now in the ranking.
- 15:40Speaker 2: So this is this has been a point of contention
- 15:43Speaker 2: around the day of Campbells Texas Football Offices because right now,
- 15:46Speaker 2: and this is strange to say, but since Division one
- 15:50Speaker 2: feels about as wide open as it's ever felt in
- 15:53Speaker 2: quite some time, because it's normally we're on some sort
- 15:57Speaker 2: of march towards Duncanville North Shore right now. Last week
- 16:02Speaker 2: last year obviously there was some pretty shifting sands there
- 16:06Speaker 2: where you were able to get North Crowley and West Lake. Well,
- 16:09Speaker 2: right now we project West Lay to go Division two.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Obviously this year twenty six six A is going to
- 16:13Speaker 2: play out and we'll figure out where that goes. So
- 16:17Speaker 2: then it really opens up in the six d A.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Division one at North Crowley stated Duncanville has lost, North
- 16:23Speaker 2: Bill Glean Park north Shore has lost. And I'm here
- 16:26Speaker 2: to tell you that Alan might be the favorite in
- 16:30Speaker 2: sixth Day Division One. At least through the first four weeks.
- 16:33Speaker 2: They have been dominant. They have been exceptional defensively, and
- 16:39Speaker 2: they are humming right now. The way that they're playing,
- 16:41Speaker 2: They're going to be awfully hard to beat because I
- 16:45Speaker 2: think that this is just a year in six A
- 16:48Speaker 2: Division one that opened up for them. You know a
- 16:51Speaker 2: lot of the contenders. And it's a strange thing to
- 16:53Speaker 2: say because in the past few years we kind of
- 16:56Speaker 2: considered six d A Division one to be the I don't
- 16:59Speaker 2: want to say superior bracket, but a lot of the
- 17:01Speaker 2: very best teams, the highest ranked teams, have ended up
- 17:03Speaker 2: going to the sixth A Division one bracket. This is
- 17:06Speaker 2: a situation this year in which we may end up
- 17:09Speaker 2: having a lot more teams go into sixth eight Division two.
- 17:12Speaker 2: And if that's the case, then things open up for
- 17:15Speaker 2: a team like Alan, where I think that that the
- 17:17Speaker 2: sky is the limit for them. Busy team is playing
- 17:19Speaker 2: exceptional football, and in a in a a universe, in
- 17:23Speaker 2: a in a world where the a lot of the
- 17:25Speaker 2: sixth Day Division one teams have shown some flaws right now.
- 17:29Speaker 2: The best team in sixthy Division one for the first
- 17:31Speaker 2: four weeks I think has been the Alan Eagles, which
- 17:34Speaker 2: I know for for folks who who maybe missed the
- 17:36Speaker 2: Kyler Murray era, this feels awfully familiar. So this is
- 17:41Speaker 2: this is a pair of shotes you slip right back into.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's it's a good point. Okay.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Let me uh, let me get your thoughts on the
- 17:51Speaker 1: meanest thing we do each week, as we say, have
- 17:53Speaker 1: you uh transferred you? You have your choice of three games,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and you can choose to I will uh uh say
- 17:59Speaker 1: that one of the ones I give to you when
- 18:01Speaker 1: you do it to me on Thursday, you will not
- 18:03Speaker 1: include it because it's the game I'm calling uh for
- 18:06Speaker 1: victory PLASFA. We'll start with six A and I will
- 18:10Speaker 1: ask you, uh if if you had your choice, would
- 18:14Speaker 1: it be Waksatchi de Sota in uh six A?
- 18:19Speaker 2: Uh?
- 18:19Speaker 1: Would it be in four A Division one, number one
- 18:23Speaker 1: Solina against number six Frisco Panther Creek both are unbeaten
- 18:30Speaker 1: and uh?
- 18:31Speaker 3: And then the third where did I do with my
- 18:33Speaker 3: third one? I had it written down here? Uh?
- 18:37Speaker 1: What did I do? With my third one. I had
- 18:38Speaker 1: a third one went to the wrong division here, Uh,
- 18:42Speaker 1: the the third choice? Oh yeah, I know what it
- 18:45Speaker 1: was going to be third choice road game for Pleasant Grove,
- 18:49Speaker 1: coming off the loss at home to Kilgore, going to
- 18:53Speaker 1: six ranks Sunnydale.
- 18:54Speaker 3: That that was. That was the third choice I had.
- 18:57Speaker 2: So that's a whales ball game too, And it's a
- 18:59Speaker 2: pleas and grow of an opportunity to reset against the
- 19:04Speaker 2: sun But sun Vale is a team that's playing exceptionally
- 19:07Speaker 2: well right now and I'm excited to see what they do.
- 19:09Speaker 2: My answer is probably gonna be the game that you're
- 19:11Speaker 2: on the call for there with Slim and Tanta Cree.
- 19:13Speaker 2: That's a wail of a ball game. And what's funny
- 19:16Speaker 2: is that if four A, you know, obviously, you know
- 19:19Speaker 2: every comic book is somebody's first. Four A is the
- 19:22Speaker 2: third largest classification in Texas high school football. And yet
- 19:25Speaker 2: from a prospect perspective, I mean, if you're a recruit, Nick,
- 19:30Speaker 2: it doesn't get a whole lot better than this. You
- 19:31Speaker 2: have Boventley, the Oklahoma commit. You have got the logan
- 19:34Speaker 2: goodiere as Lupia Jeanie, They've got the line is loaded,
- 19:38Speaker 2: a big offensive line going up against guys like Jalen
- 19:41Speaker 2: a lot right, this this is a loaded Donovan Webb,
- 19:45Speaker 2: the Texas Tech comment at safety. This is a loaded
- 19:48Speaker 2: Panther Creek team with frontline talent. I am really excited.
- 19:52Speaker 2: And and by the way, it is of course a
- 19:54Speaker 2: district bull game, which is going to make this all
- 19:57Speaker 2: the more important because the the winner of this game
- 20:00Speaker 2: will at the very least be in the driver's seat
- 20:02Speaker 2: to win the district of the district title, get that
- 20:05Speaker 2: number one seed in the playoffs. The loser still has
- 20:09Speaker 2: to face, by the way, a very difficult district. It's
- 20:11Speaker 2: not like it gets a whole lot easier from here
- 20:14Speaker 2: in that very difficult and deep district. But I think
- 20:17Speaker 2: that that ball game between Flana and Panther Creek has
- 20:21Speaker 2: an opportunity to really steal the show. I will be
- 20:24Speaker 2: listening to your adult tones on Friday night because that
- 20:27Speaker 2: is a that's a heck of a ball game. And
- 20:29Speaker 2: if you're a high school football fan's a great game.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And if you are a recruiting and you're just saying, oh,
- 20:34Speaker 2: I want to watch some of the best players in
- 20:35Speaker 2: the state who are going to be playing at the
- 20:37Speaker 2: next level. Lock in for this one because this is
- 20:39Speaker 2: going to be a lot of fun.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Free on the Victory Sports app, followed by Temper and
- 20:44Speaker 1: Pickle there on the Victory Sports App at ten thirty
- 20:47Speaker 1: and online at Texas Football dot com for the complete
- 20:52Speaker 1: recap of all of Hey, you know what scares me?
- 20:55Speaker 1: Here's here's enough to shake you to your foundation. Bill Elliott,
- 20:58Speaker 1: the head coach at Salona, great guy, told me this
- 21:01Speaker 1: morning that Solina is growing by one hundred and eighty
- 21:05Speaker 1: people a week and that uh and that in the
- 21:10Speaker 1: next realignment there'll be a.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Five A, which I know your guys have written about.
- 21:13Speaker 3: He said.
- 21:13Speaker 1: By the end of the decade, we're going to be
- 21:15Speaker 1: a six A and maybe a six A Division one
- 21:17Speaker 1: program s line.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Now is it's insane that the growth out there. When
- 21:23Speaker 2: we wrote the story, they're the gatefold feature in data
- 21:25Speaker 2: Campbell Texas Football the summer edition and they are the
- 21:28Speaker 2: fastest growing city in America, and it is it is
- 21:31Speaker 2: shocking if you have not been in Salina, even in
- 21:33Speaker 2: like the last like eighteen months, it is almost unrecognizable
- 21:38Speaker 2: out there. The growth out there is incredible. And you know,
- 21:42Speaker 2: people people who remember Solana as being this like small
- 21:45Speaker 2: school powerhouse. Uh huh, not anymore, guys. This is this
- 21:48Speaker 2: is the last year of quote unquote small school Salina
- 21:51Speaker 2: because it is only up from here.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Uh. He said, this is how he knows they're exploding.
- 21:58Speaker 1: They're getting an AGB now, so that's that's.
- 22:00Speaker 2: How I know. Okay, well, that's then at that point,
- 22:04Speaker 2: at that point, might as well get an airport.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Right, catch tepper and pickle there on front. That and
- 22:13Speaker 1: you should subscribe at Texas Football dot Com. Get you
- 22:16Speaker 1: content access, access to watch Texan live telecasts and everything
- 22:20Speaker 1: else as well. Hey, I appreciate it, and we'll look
- 22:23Speaker 1: forward to the next time.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Aro out.
- 22:26Speaker 2: My friends.
- 22:26Speaker 1: All right, thanks, all right, that's Greg Chapper, editor in
- 22:29Speaker 1: chief Dave Candils Texas Football Max. There are little bit
- 22:31Speaker 1: of airports out there in Collin County and Denton County
- 22:34Speaker 1: out in the area. They might need a bigger one
- 22:36Speaker 1: now with all the explosive growth of Frisco. And I
- 22:41Speaker 1: did say when I was talking with the Frisco head coach,
- 22:45Speaker 1: Clint Serrata, said, uh, factor fiction. If you stand on
- 22:49Speaker 1: any roof in the city limits of Frisco and go
- 22:53Speaker 1: turn around three hundred and sixty degrees you'll see four
- 22:56Speaker 1: or five high schools. He said, that's an absolute fact.
- 22:59Speaker 1: They twelve high schools, twelve five A high schools in Frisco.
- 23:03Speaker 1: He said, we're just all around one another. All right,
- 23:06Speaker 1: We'll continue when we get right here on the Sports
- 23:09Speaker 1: Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the Irradio app.
